I really despise the Marvelification of Stranger Things, because all the interviews nowadays are constantly referencing how fast paced and epic and big the finale will be but the reason people fell in love with the show wasn't special effects or long episodes; it was the plot, it was the characters, it was the mystery. Stranger Things 1 may have been a story about a government conspiracy and a monster, but that's not why we stuck around. The show can throw amazing CGI, Russians, a battle within the American army and an apocalypse at the audience with the biggest budget known to man but if they forget to ground it and keep it central, it'll just get lost amongst a plethora of other "epic" blockbusters. We want Steven King, not Avengers.

will being “good at hiding”, the ud being a mirror of hawkins so he was Right There but also not. how he likely only survived so long because he was good at running and hiding from the demogorgon, and of course everyone was looking for him but if he didn’t try to reach out and communicate with joyce then he maybe wouldn’t have made it out at all. how at first he tried to defend himself but it was futile, maybe he couldn't have even done it anyways. the clone of his body that joyce immediately knew wasn't will.
will coming back wrong and feeling like a freak and being targeted at school, the scene of him walking down the hallway while everyone looks at him. he only opens up to mike at first and singles him out as not making him feel like "even more of a freak". he hides things from joyce until he cant because it all goes so wrong. how he tries to run and hide from it but its when he tries to fight back and stand his ground that it gets him. literally being possessed, his entire self being taken over, "what happens when he cant remember anything? when there's nothing else there? what happens when my boy is gone", and how joyce, jonathan and mike can bring him back just enough for him to help save them, even if saving them could kill him. and how none of them let that happen and they force the mf out to get will back.
in s3 when he's there but basically invisible, like a twisted parallel of s1. he's right there but having to still try to be noticed, and this time it ends with him destroying castle byers. the same castle byers that he hid in in the ud before the demogorgon found him, and which the memory of building with jonathan helped bring him back. castle byers with its 'all friends welcome' sign but joyce needed a password to be let in. how he has a 'no trespassing' sign on his bedroom door.
and just everything about dnd and "you shouldn't like things just because people tell you to" and how he doesn't conform to mike and lucas's 'normal teenage boy' shtick and how he tries to be his normal, but its just different to what they're doing. he destroys castle byers in part because he feels too seen, "what did you think that we were gonna sit around in the basement all day and play games for the rest of our lives" and yet he says yes, to mikes face. he gives away his dnd set but promises its not possible to join another party, and he doesn't.
he dances with a girl at the snowball bc he doesn't know what to do and mike is there pushing him to. in lenora he does a presentation on alan turing in front of, presumably, his whole class.
in s4 how his outfits just make him merge into the settings, almost camouflaged. how he doesn't reach out to mike despite wanting to stay in contact with him because he cant risk being too seen, because he doesn't want to lose their friendship. "sometimes its hard to say how you really feel", and then giving mike the painting under the guise of it being from el, masking feelings that are only his with el's name, trying so hard to express his own feelings but at the same time divorcing himself from them. jonathan immediately clocking it and for probably the first time ever, someone is truly seeing him and telling him directly that they love him no matter what. because they know, they know and its okay. how "hakwins isn't the same without him" and "god we need will" and his friends have his drawings on their walls and and and.
just. how hiding is the most integral part of wills arc and how everything is linked back to him hiding. and how sometimes its necessary to survive but that doesn't make it hurt less. and how he has so much courage and he's so true to himself but tries so hard to be both seen and not seen, because fuck man its complicated being who he is. and just. how other people's love for him keeps bringing him back, can bring him out of hiding. yeah. idk.

As someone who's diagnosed with C-PTSD, anxiety, and early childhood depression; I LOVED how Lloyd was portrayed in season 2, him having his panic attacks, insomnia, social anxiety (in S1) and paranoid anxiety moments really felt like home to me. This is one of the reasons why I love Lloyd and why he's a huge comfort character to me!
And the fact is, this isn't the first time he was written to have anxiety and insomnia, in some moments it even implies he gets trauma flashbacks. written by Tommy Andreasan in a "could be canon" Ninjago story
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I literally relate to him on a personal and emotional level, as someone who's went through generational trauma and abuse from my mum, Lloyd means A LOT to me and I feel so comforted with him, he's my favourite 🥹💚

An essay rebutting the “bad writing” claims of s2 ofmd. Spoilers herein.
I’ll preface this with saying you’re obviously allowed to like and dislike whatever you want. I am in no way opposing that. And your reasons are your reasons. Have at. (Also - this is a collection of observations from the past few days, I’m not calling anyone out)
I AM going to rebut the idea that season two was poorly written and lost the spirit of what the show is about.
My favourite movie of all time is Empire Strikes Back. It’s been my favourite movie since I was four. I’m pretty sure it’s a fave of David Jenkins, too. He and Taika have made absolutely no attempt to hide their love of all things 80’s - Prince, the Princess Bride, Kate Bush, Star Wars, etc.
I have ancient video tapes (that I can’t play because who has a vcr) where Lucas is interviewed by Leonard Maltin? Malkin? I dunno. Who cares. Maltin asks him about the Star Wars (original trilogy) story arc. Lucas says “in act I, you introduce all the characters. In act II, you put them in a situation they can’t get out of, and in act III, they get out of it.”
That’s how it works. This is how stories and literary structures work.
Of course you’re not satisfied with season two. You’re not supposed to be.
The arguments I have read on why s2 loses the spirit of s1 is because no one heals. No one learns anything. No one moves forward properly. The person who makes the biggest move towards healing dies. The two main characters end the show doing the exact fucking thing they had promised themselves and each other they wouldn’t do. Our romantic lead still doesn’t understand his value or make any headway on addressing his tragic flaw. It makes no goddamn sense.
My gremlins in weird: it’s not supposed to. In Act 2, EVERYONE LOSES. This is how it goes.
I’ve read a lot of people saying “but this felt like a series finale, not a season finale.” We all know that outside politics play a part here, the strikes make everything precarious. I remember the last writers strike. It destroyed tv for fifteen years. Anyone remember Pushing Daisies? Some of y’all have never had your fave show cancelled with zero resolution for the characters and it shows.
Daddy J did us a kindness. He softened the blow of a tough season. After the brutal cliffhanger of s1, he gave us a little softness and hope. All those things you’re mad aren’t resolved? It’s because THE STORY ISN’T OVER.
No one on earth thinks “stuff all your trauma into a box and ignore it” is good advice. A way to actually live. This show did not have enough screen time to throw out dialogue for no reason. There was foreshadowing in s1 for s2, and there is foreshadowing for s3 in s2. This is a well-crafted story by very smart people who care very much for these characters. There is zero chance Frenchie explained the box in his head for no reason. The reason people have not resolved their trauma and growth is because they haven’t done it *yet*.
And friends - it’s not thinly veiled. They straight up fucking tell us what they’re doing.
Luke Skywalker spends the first two movies fucking up and desperately trying to prove himself and just generally being an idiot. Sound familiar? He ignores the lessons he is supposed to be learning to go off and do what he feels like doing, and loses fucking badly. At the end of Empire, Han is gone, Luke and Leia wave goodbye to the Falcon that has Lando and Chewy - the rest of their crew - aboard. Everyone has lost everything they care about. Vader is undefeated. Yoda is pissed. Nothing is resolved.
You see where I’m going?
If you think I’m stretching this too far, welp, when Ed tells Stede he loves him - the climax of the finale - Stede quotes Han fucking Solo. Like - *it’s right there*. The story structure. The reason everything is unresolved.
So yeah. They wave goodbye to their ship because they have wounds to heal (like Luke’s hand). The people aboard the ship have things to find. Ed and Stede have *not* learned their lesson about whims and how not to be like Anne and Mary. It’s not stupid that they’re doing the same thing, and it’s not pointless that we were shown Anne and Mary. It’s all relevant.
The resolution comes in Act 3. None of these people are done. The story is far, far from over. And just in case the studios want to be dicks about it, David Jenkins was lovely enough to not repeat my enduring heartbreak over Pushing Daisies.
Thank you, @davidjenks 🖤

When I say Merlin is my comfort show, I probably should strictly elaborate that I mean S1 Merlin. Although most of my favourite episodes are not even in that season, but it just brings insane levels of comfort. Really, why the fuck did the writers deviate so much from it? If for the "character development" narrative, there's literally nothing that was not perfect about their characterizations in s1:
Banter boyfriends? Check.
Exponentially affecting each other both positively and (sometimes tinges of) negatively? Check.
“I see your village is raided.. one sec I'll follow you till the end of earth to protect you and all those you care about.” Check.
Able to mentally grow from the restraining mindsets of Uther (and in Merlin's case Kilgharrah) when they consolidated together in letting go of Mordred despite being told the reverse. (Which was one of the reasons for their downfall, being held back by thoughts and actions that were not their own). Check.
Arthur actually saving the day with the assistance of Merlin's magic (ep4) which he does not reject and rather owe his gratitude to? (something that was later on lost as they insisted on fixating on Merlin's solo savings). Check.
“Is that poison? Here. Lemme drink it for you.” Check, check and check.
God we were so robbed of them being them in the most significant aspect. A continuation of s1's characterization should've actually involved Arthur figuring out on his own, them a duo working on bringing magic back to Albion (even if you still want to end it by killing Arthur, at least the whole core of the show wouldn't have been lost), and not the bleeding out of the same tropes and the same villains over and over without ever reaching to a point. I really get the argument of sticking to the legends, and I don't mind it, but they didn't stick to the legends from the beginning which baited us into thinking it will get resolved happily.
But to be fair, Arthur did get a relatively good character development. His transition from prince to prince regent to king was really done well. You see him growing to being more empathetic and more honour-driven. But he still should've been represented as the almighty king he was, not one who didn't have 2 braincells to figure out that his closest human being had been hiding from him for 10 years. And on the other side of the coin, Merlin should've had the chance to be Emrys, by all BAMF meanings of the word, not overshadowed for a whole decade without ever having the love and appreciation he deserved. He shouldn't have needed to turn bitter and obsessed. They shouldn't have resorted to just 48 hrs of Arthur knowing.
Honestly, I love this show as-is with an extent I cannot even describe sometimes, but their character development took a turn different from the one they truly deserved. Instead of filler episodes, they could have focused more on Arthur and Merlin's relationship, Arthur and Merlin growing, Arthur and Merlin succeeding.

Sonic Prime thing
so basically after i watched Sonic Prime S3 (on the day it came out) i was left pretty unsatisfied with the weird storytelling, plot holes and loose ends and decided to start brainstorming a re-imagining for it and drew some designs...
so this is gonna be long but i wanna preface this by saying i'm not a writer or even that good at character design 😭!!!! and also the majority of this is like from almost 2 months ago and it's very incomplete so i haven't done much thought on it i just had some ideas and ran with it Tbh. so if stuff doesn't make much sense Lmk bc a multiverse story is a very big thing to tackle, you really have to pay attention to the little stuff for everything to be complete.
also i like stuff with darker themes so if a lot of this is like "a Sonic show wouldn't do that" well. Yeah. this isn't a pitch to SEGA it's just my own thing LOL
(also also we're just gonna throw out the whole "Prime is canon to the games" here, i use the games as a basis but i wouldn't say this is in the realms of canon for multiple reasons)
~ The Main Stuff ~
so pretty much i went into this mostly thinking about changing the shatterverses while still keeping the base ideas that Prime had, and also a bit about how the shatterverse works in the first place. so i have some bullet points that i wrote down. i haven't watched s1&2 in a long time so i don't remember too much of the lore they already established, so if some of this is just reiterating what they said in the show then that's my bad
i wasn't exactly sure how it made sense that a single rock in some random cave conveniently in green hills had control of the entire universe so i want the explanation for why breaking the prism had this kind of effect to be something else (or to just change the prism to be something different) but i'm not sure exactly what. definitely not like "it was an illusion like the phantom ruby" or some stupid shit but it felt off that something completely world (universe) ending was so easily accessible. anyway.
Sonic explicitly doesn't exist in each alternate universe because he was the one who broke the prism. Sonic being the final piece that brings the universe together should probably have bigger lore implications as well
i think this is already what's in canon but Shadow used chaos control as the prism got shattered, causing himself to get fragmented across time and space as well.
unlike in the show, Shadow still has alternate versions of himself in each of the universes, but he has to kinda do an EEAAO and swap into their consciousness for him to be able to enter their respective universes (which takes a lot of energy bc its literally dimension travel so he can't do it a lot). his actual body is stuck in the void which means its at risk of erosion and also any hazard in the void like asteroids n stuff. it also explains why he's greatly weakened in the show (because his ass should not have been handed to him that easily in s3) cuz bits of his . being. is split across each universe, and can only be completed by the prism.
the void decays life which adds a higher stake to Sonic needing to complete the prism asap and also why Shadow is so hellbent on getting him to do it quickly. his actual, original self is slowly dying. (adds a bit of a character flaw too like the zombot arc, because you'd think the ultimate lifeform would be resistant to erosion. maybe at first he thinks he'll be fine and does the dimension travelling for fun until he starts feeling Really drained)
before i get to the individual universes, i'll talk a bout Sonic's character real quick because hoo boy, was it BAD in Prime. no shade to anyone who enjoyed his character in Prime, but as a show that claims to be "canon to the games", he was embarrassingly out of character. if it were just another version of him like movie Sonic i wouldn't really be so weirded out by it. so i wanna just say right off the bat that i'm using my own favourite iteration of Sonic as a reference for his character, which is the characterization from Sonic X.
i think when the prism gets properly explained, Sonic would kind of put 2 and 2 together and realize completing the prism would erase the other universes. and rather than being all ambiguous about it like Prime was, here it very explicitly would be that restoring the prism will erase the shatterverse. so Sonic get's really stuck between a rock and a hard place, because restoring the prism brings his friends and world back, but then he's effectively killing thousands of people, many of them who look exactly like his friends, all for the sake of his own world.
i think this is the kind of dilemma that would be really good for a character like Sonic, who's carefree and always does what he believes to be the right thing regardless of what other people say. his conflict with Nine isn't even all that different from his conflict with Merlina. but would he be okay with being enemies with someone who's literally just his little brother? i don't think Sonic would have tried to reason with Nine as much as he did in Prime, attachment be damned, but i still think it would still be hard for him to come to terms with the fact that Nine is his enemy and that in the end he would have to erase him too.
this is all i wanna say about Sonic rn because truth be told i'm not exactly sure how different the decisions he made in Prime would be here since i haven't thought too much on it, i would have to rewatch the show (god forbid) to figure that out lol.
~New Yolk City~
so i actually have designs for this, some of them have went through changes but they're all pretty "initial concepts". i wanna say that first off, i wanted this to be explicitly an alternate timeline and not just an alternate universe. one where Sonic doesn't exist in the main timeline so nobody really does anything to stop Eggman and he takes over the world. the designs are deliberately edgy so i call it sonic underfell in my notes lol
also, because a dystopian Sonic premise already exists in the form of SatAM... we got Sally Acorn back :D i didn't include all the Freedom Fighters for fear of the cast getting too big, but Nicole is here too because i love Sonic comic's robo assistants like Nicole and Kintobor. Sonia and Manic were also considered as added characters since Sonic Underground also has a dystopian premise, but i think it would be weird to add Sonic's siblings in a world where he doesn't exist, so it's not like they'd have a little 'OMG he's my long lost brother' moment. like no they don't even know who he is LOL.
alright so for character info i'll start with Nine because he's like the 3rd most important character in the show. i have a few different sketches of him, most incomplete... and for the third one my friend wanted him to look more emo. i wanted to add a bit more to that design but i wasn't sure what to do. if anyone has suggestions lmk
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
just like in the show, bc Sonic never meets Tails, Tails doesn't get saved from bullying and becomes very jaded. as for the robot face and tails, i think in the show they really drive it home how Nine values robots over people very much, going as far as to make robot clones of his friends in order to replace them. so... robot body parts doesn't seem too out of the realm for what he'd do! it's a very good parallel to what i have planned for Eggman/the Chaos Council it's also very fucking gruesome and sad esp because hes like 8 years old..
also, i'd really love it if he wasn't just weirdly evil the way he was in Prime S3. because no the hell he is not evil, it felt like a cheap way to get you to stop sympathizing with him until the very last moment where he had a change of heart. he's just a small, traumatized kid who was shown friendship for the first time only to realize that Sonic only cared about him because he was a Tails and actually pretty much wanted him dead (even if this all wasn't exactly true, i can genuinely see why he felt this way).
next i'll talk about who the main extra characters in this universe will be, which is Sally and Nicole.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so obv the resistance is called the Freedom Fighters, and Sally is the commander (like she should've been in Sonic Forces/IDW, but alas, she is dead to SEGA). she'd have a much more serious personality compared to her Archie/SatAM counterpart. where she'd usually banter with Sonic in Archie, here she would straight up tell him to gtfo. the aim of the Freedom Fighters in current time isn't really to fight to get their world back, just to survive and preserve what they still have.
just like in other media, Nicole is Sally's AI assistant slash potential love interest who does all the tech-y stuff, like scanning the area for threats, hacking things, etc. which gives them a bit of more power against the enemy without needing Nine's help.
next we got Amy aka Rusty Rose, this time she's fully a robot instead of being only half of one, and i'll expand on why. (also to note i didn't look at other Metal Amy fan designs when making this just to try and keep this a bit more original lol)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so, obviously being inspired by SatAM and Archie, roboticization is a concept that would be reintroduced here through Rusty Rose. she was previously a freedom fighter who got a bit reckless and was captured, and was roboticized before her allies could save her. she's kind of used as a cautionary tale among the Freedom Fighters as a way to hammer in don't be reckless and don't get caught.
i remember in Sonic Prime they tried to use the flicky 'powering' her as a way to keep her connection with humanity, which was great except for the fact that she still had half a mobian face so she wasn't even fully robot. in this case, i decided to make her fully robot and keep the flicky, except this time it is genuinely powering her lifeforce unlike whatever they did in the show. obviously taking it out for a bit just to showcase the fact she does have a flicky won't insta-kill her, but she will slowly die without the flicky inside of her. not sure why the Chaos Council didnt just slap a chaos drive in there but whatever lol, it's nice symbolism anyway.
also just a note, she can shoot bullets out of her fingers if you were wondering why her hands looked like that. yes its an Aigis Persona 3 reference. but also she no longer uses her hammer because as a robot she's stripped of her personality and autonomy, and the Piko-Piko hammer was like an Amy signature weapon, who Rusty Rose no longer is at this point. but mostly it's an Aigis Persona 3 reference. We ball
next is Rouge, who's no longer a leader of the Freedom Fighters, but just a spy/intelligence agent who still has an eye for shiny things.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
in the inital art i drew of her i named her Agent Rebel, but honestly Agent Rouge works just fine because yknow. Rouge is just the word for red in french. if they really have to all have different names then Agent Red also works too, but it might be a bit on the nose. anyway she's apart of the Freedom Fighters as their spy, something they desperately need because of the constant surveillance around new yolk. of course she's still the morally gray bastard she usually is, so she always desires compensation for her efforts, especially on the more dangerous missions.
the reason why i demoted her from leader is because Rouge is really not the leader type, maybe you could give her a leading role if it were a smaller group like Team Dark, but when its a whole resistance she's genuinely not cut out for it, especially because she's not particularly selfless and definitely doesn't give too much of a shit about the well being of others. here she understands very well that her life is also at risk, so aiding the Freedom Fighters is pretty much her only choice.
next we got Knuckles who is definitely not having a good time. he never met Sonic so he's very distrusting towards everyone, even allies. he lived on Angel Island until it was attacked by Eggman and he lost the Master Emerald. unfortunately i didn't draw anything full body or coloured so i only have this sketch
Tumblr media
being from a clan of warriors, i'd say its a no-brainer that he'd be co-commander of the Freedom Fighters. as for all the injuries, they're from a time where he was captured. to compensate for his... lack of knuckles... he now wears brass knuckles. he's definitely the most angry and vengeful of all the different versions of Knuckles, because he feels as if he's been disgraced in multiple ways, and he sees the Freedom Fighters as a means to an end. his pure, unadultered rage definitely helps with taking out enemies tho.
okay, i mentioned that Shadow would have alternate versions of himself and lucky for yall i did draw a design for New Yolk Shadow, who's named Terios and is inspired by that beta design.
Tumblr media
Terios isn't apart of the Freedom Fighters, but he's not on the side of the Chaos Council. hes kind of an anti-hero vigilante, he's cordial with Rouge but not really interested in the Freedom Fighters. he kinda does his own shit. realistically, since New Yolk is an alternate timeline where Sonic doesn't exist, and it's implied that Gerald based Shadow off of Super Sonic then technically Shadow shouldn't exist but hey, this is the one plot hole i'm not gonna try to mend. We Ball. Shadow exists because he's goated like that.
anyway his backstory is the same but because everything is so Fucked Up he never really gets the chance to explode the world like he wanted. since he's not on the evil side i'll say that Eggman wasn't the one who woke him up tho and he got talked out of his homicidal urges. who woke him up? idk i'll think about it
now for another added character... Silver!!! but he goes by the alias "Venice"... because his beta design is called Venice LOL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
before i explain Silver's deal, i'll talk abt how i imagine time works in the Sonic universe. basically, the future isn't something predestined and is actively changed by events in the present. this is in fact something that 06 contradicts since the future was messed up before Sonic even met Elise, but that in and of itself contradicts Sonic CD which does the whole "actions in the present affect the future" thing with the good future/bad future. so i went with CD's time mechanics because it makes more sense for this story. also 06 isn't canon so #WeBall
so Silver, being from the future, wakes up one day to find everything all fucked up again. except now he's in the present too. he tries to ask ppl if they know where Sonic is, assuming that of course Sonic would know what happened, but nobody seems to know who he's talking about. Silver eventually crosses paths with Shadow/Terios and asks him where Sonic is, but even Terios doesn't know who Sonic is (at this point, our Shadow hasn't linked his consciousness w/ Terios) so Silver is just really fucking lost and doesn't know what the hell is happening, why it's happening and why nobody seems to know who Sonic is.
he ends up following Terios around as sort of an apprentice type thing because he's the only familiar face so far and he really needs to understand what's going on. Terios isn't very happy about it but can tell Silver's a pretty strong person he would want as an ally, so he keeps him around. Silver wears a cloak and goes by the alias Venice as a way to protect his identity.
so obv when Sonic shows up he KNOWS Sonic fucked up real bad somehow. cue the 'it's no use! take this!' loop
(Blaze isn't here because she's relaxing and enjoying a cup of tea in her palace. also trying to tackle how the prism affects the Sol Dimension will make things way more convoluted)
~ New Yolk City: The Chaos Council ~
okay... NOW we talk about Eggman. so maybe you've noticed i kept switching between saying Eggman and the Chaos Council, and i will explain.
the Chaos Council do still exist in this reimagining, but Eggman also exists. Kind of.
basically my idea for the Chaos Council was that it was originally just Eggman ruling the world (btw his name would be Robotnik because nobody was there to call him Eggman), but here comes the inspiration from Archie again, and now he's split himself into 5 robots to help rule over New Yolk City. and i say it's inspired from Archie because i very vividly remember that Robotnik fucking died in Archie and then uploaded his consciousness into a robot or some shit, and then when it came time for his modern design to be incorporated into the comic he literally switched robot bodies to become modern Eggman. So Yeah.
multiple facets of himself get uploaded into robot bodies, because what's the point of living a mortal fleshy life when you can be a sick ass immortal shiny robot (throwback to how i said it would be a parallel to Nine) and these different "facets" of Eggman would just be different parts of his personality, these are what i had in mind but it's still a WIP:
intelligence (cunning, manipulative, thinks logically and lacks empathy)
childishness (interest in juvenile things like themeparks, acts. well. childish)
vain (self-absorbed, uncooperative, gets upset by criticism, interest in flashy things/theatrics)
emotional (prone to outbursts--typically rage, empathetic)
dramatic (placeholder until i think of a better one because this is just grouped in with vanity tbh)
bad news is that i never drew designs for these. because if im not good at designing characters, im ESPECIALLY not good at designing robots. Rusty Rose was already a challenge. but ill figure it out lol.
ANYWAY now we're done with New Yolk. if this seemed long, don't worry because it was pretty much the only one i did brainstorming on. i have one more design and a few notes but nothing else for the rest of the shatterverses.
~ No Place ~
there's not much about No Place i would change other than the character roster and basic premise. it's still pirate-y, and Dread is DEFINITELY staying the same because i Love him.
pretty much my idea is that instead of there only being one crew which is Dread's, there are two. one with Dread, Amy and Tails, and another crew with Rouge, Shadow and whoever else i think to add. basically they're rival crews that compete to get treasure, and the prism shard is just another one they set their eyes on. Marine is also gonna be there probably on Dread's crew.
Sonic initially takes Dread's side because hes a Knuckles, Knuckles is his friend and Rouge usually means trouble, but when Dread starts being yknow. batshit crazy and manipulative. Sonic realizes that he picked wrong and hes kinda on his own to get that shard.
the only thing i drew for this is a design of Rouge
Tumblr media
i imagine Shadow would just be the one pirate design from that Sonic mobile game that everyone likes to draw. his name would also be Blackheart because of the lyrics "black-hearted evil / brave-hearted hero" from I Am... All Of Me
that's all i have for No Place. in truth i didn't make much changes because i actually very much enjoyed No Place (mostly bc of Dread)
~ Boscage ~
so... this one i've done the least thinking about, and honestly it's because i don't really know what to do with this one. something about Boscage rubs me the wrong way, maybe just bc it's a jungle universe and the designs make me cringe a little bit. if anyone has any ideas on this then lmk. i don't think i want to get rid of it entirely but i just don't know how to go about this one.
all i have in terms of notes is that:
it should be a bit similar to Sonic Boom in setting, so an island with dense forests
Sticks should be a character, potentially taking Prim's role in the story
~ Extra Notes ~
more characters in the main cast like Cream and the Chaotix should appear
other characters robot copies should resemble canonical ones like Metal Sonic, Knuckles and Amy, however Nine's robot copies should look Fucked Up to emphasize the Wrongness in how he views his robot copies as true friends
^ this means Chaos Sonic should literally just be Metal Sonic. sorry Chaos Sonic fans i love him too but it made no sense to me that it wouldn't be Metal Sonic but lmk your thoughts on that
that's it for everything i think. i might have had more but i didn't write it down so it has just been forever lost in the dark depths of my brain. this is very unorganized and way too long but i hope it was interesting to read at least. ofc any feedback is welcome. i don't think i'll make any kind of story out of this but i'd like to complete it tbh

I love season 1 mandy and season 2+ mandy for different reasons. Yeah, they are the same character, but I appreciate the different eras in separate ways. I don't really have a favourite like most people do.
Season 1 mandy is great because it shows us how young she is. We are introduced to a very fun, loving 15-year-old girl. She's sassy and easy to love. Her problems are never talked about with any weight behind it, and to me, that's PERFECT. So many of her actions are framed more "childish" at least in my eyes. Seasons one mandy just makes me appreciate her in later seasons even more.
We need to see that she is a typical young girl. She has boy trouble and gets in arguments with her friends over eyeliner. Mandy has dyed hair and a relatively distinct fashion sense. She's still trying to find herself just like everyone else.
When we watch mandy grow and full into bad situations, s1 mandy is what makes it make sense.
Mandy in the later seasons is amazing cause she shows (VERY WELL) how growing up in an environment like she did can change a person. We see lots of her problems clearly and I think that's because she's at an age where she can really recognise them. It's these seasons we are introduced into her depth as a character.Mandy is s1 called her brothers for help with Ian (ik he did nothing wrong) but she goes to that teachers house herself s3. Mandy matures.
I think a lot of people wouldn't sympathise with mandy nearly as much in later seasons if she straight up introduced as this complex independent and troubled teengirl.
We see her ups and downs. Right before mandy leaves the show and seems to be getting her shit together, it's nice to know that she's gonna start becoming more like that fun loving 15-year-old girl.
PLEASE STOP ACTING LIKE I CAN ONLY LIKE ONE VERSION OF HER.

some random rc opinions cause its 2am and i cant sleep:
• revealing that kingu was ultimately the reason why nikkal's problems (that affected her entire life) started - even if he didn't know/mean it - IN THE LAST SEASON was a very low blow. like after all this time you're telling me my man had been using her since she was a child and ended up being the reason why she became an orphan?? WHO APPROVED THAT—
• kazu is the best li on the entire app. period. idc if you have other favourites you can't find a single flaw on the dude. he set the bar too high no one's ever gonna come close everything about him makes me wanna SCREAM i honestly can't believe he was written by a MAN
• theodora is top 3 best books. the characters, the stories, the feelings??? unmatched. i felt so many emotions reading it i actually sobbed through a third of it. it's not in my top 3 favourite books but it's undeniable its one of the best written (i would go as far as to say theodora and lotw share the throne)
• s1 of heaven's secret 2 is the worst. i'm sorry but it was such a challenge to get through it i can't even- it's not badly written, that's not what i'm saying, it's just SO MISERABLE, every single character is miserable !!and i know that's the point!! but ughhhhhh
• vying for versailles has the best mc idc what anyone says or thinks SHE'S THE HBIC!!!! no one's doing it like her truly an icon
• dals has one of the best/most compelling stories. the ottoman storyline is extremely heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time cause you know from the beginning its ending in tragedy. striking a deal to protect your loved ones only to see it ultimately fail and you're forced to live through 600 years of agony until they reincarnate and you get a second chance with them?? just inject it on my veins. now now i do think they're dragging it a little too much and it's now a bit boring but oh well
• i'm lowkey tired of the mc always being "inferior" to others, they're either inexperienced, poor, powerless, caged etc while the other characters are the opposite so the mc always depends on them in some way
• a book is only as good as its lis. there, said it. idc if you're writing the best piece of literature of the century if the lis are boring i will not be that interested oop and if its a shitty cheap book but with the loml in there you can bet i'll be even replaying that shit
• psi is like a gold mine. the beginning is bo-ring but once you get past like half of s1 you'll be simply amazed by how good the book is and once you get to s2 it's over for you like congratulations now you're hooked and there's no turning back welcome to the club!!!

Guess who's back lmao. I had another idea and you're one of my favourite twdg writers so I came back. First up, take as long as you need on this, attend to any requests that came before mine before feeling the need to write this.
(Twdg season 1)
You know how after the Motel is attacked, Lilly shoots Carley/Doug? (S1) What if there was like a young pre-teen/teen reader (say, somewhere from 11 to 13.) and whoever Lilly aimed for, she either accidentally missed or the reader protected carley/doug, and the bullet hit the reader in the shoulder/arm (so not fatal just a bit like "bruh"). What would the reactions of the motel gang be? taking into consideration Lilly just shot a literal child 🤣
(I'm sorry if this is oddly specific but I had the idea with it and in your rules you asked for as much specification as possible) if any of this doesn't make sense feel free to ask me because I kind of rambled lmao. If you can't do this for any reason or you struggle to, i completely understand. Have a good day!
Ty! And yeh I do really appreciate the specifics and tysm for all of that yer totally so sweet!!! <<<333
Hope this will do, lovely!!!!
TWDG season 1 group reacting to Lily shooting (but not killing!) a preteen!reader
Lee
Tumblr media
To say this man was pissed was an understatement
He didn’t care if Lilly meant it for someone else 1. There was no need to shoot an innocent person and 2. You just fucking shot a kid!
Idc what way you played with part wether you let her stay or no there is no was lee would let her come with you guys after that
After kicking Lilly to the curb he’d go back to you and gently carry you back to the RV before finding anything he can to patch you up
He’s so stressed and annoyed!
He wishes he could’ve gone back in time and changed it
He will fully take care of you till you make a full recovery!
He’d go through hell and back to get any medical supplies you need too<3
Kenny
Tumblr media
He too was so pissed!
Like he’s shouting and screaming at Lilly
It’s by gods mercy that he didn’t shoot her
He tells everyone to help you get inside and find anything to stop the bleeding
I don’t have to say this because it’s obvious but he’s not letting her come with the group
As you all drive away he keeps shouting and cursing
It’s not very helpful but it’s all he can really do
Katjaa keeps telling him to calm down but yk that’s not gonna happen
He keeps a close eye on you while you recover and he gets a little (a fucking lot) over protective of you
Katjaa
Tumblr media
She wasn’t there too see you get shot but as soon as she heard the gun shot she panicked
She put duck down in a chair and told him to stay calm and not too look
Once she saw you she started tearing up
She felt so bad for you!
She’d tell everyone to keep calm as she tried to bandage your wounds
She’d be at your side 100% of the time and would make sure your as comfortable as you can be
Duck
Tumblr media
He also didn’t see everything go down but this kid was so upset
You where one of his best friends (mainly because there where only two other kids in the group, one being you) and he was you you bleeding and in so much pain!
He was already bit and seeing you shot made it so much worse :(
He was willing to share any supplies you needed to help you recover btw!
He’d do anything for his amazing best friend!
He couldn’t really help you out at all or even take your mind of it because he was too sick to do anything
But he’d use any energy he did have to ask if your ok or make a silly joke <:)
Clementine
Tumblr media
She was traumatised oml
She saw her best friend get shot
She screamed and burst out into tears!
Lee told her to closer her eyes and not look at you while they patched you up, but she didn’t want to leave your side
So she stood in a place where you could see her and closed her eyes, every so often taking a peek and giving you a sympathetic smile
After you got bandaged up she’s stay by you and got you whatever you wanted
This one time the group stopped off to get some supplies are they came back to see her routing threw all the cupboards
“What are you doing, clem?” -group member
“I’m trying to find a snack for (name)! They wanted one :(“
Lilly
Tumblr media
She felt so bad!
She didn’t mean to shoot you!
She totally froze, unable to say or do anything
Before the group forced her to leave and everyone inside she gave you one final look of worry and regret
She knew that leaving the group was the best thing for them and she wishes that you survive the shooting
That always sticks with her, the guilt may of died down after a few years but the memory never leaves
She always stills wonders if you made it
And if you wanna drag this idea to season 4 she will definitely bring it up to clem
Doug
Tumblr media
He totally freaked!
He felt so bad!
That bullet was meant for him (and ben) and yet you got shot :(
The guilt he felt was something he was never going to live down.
This man would risk death to get you any supplies you need for your recovery, it’s the least he can do.
It’s so obvious he feels bad like when Katjaa was patching you up he couldn’t look at you for more than a second
After your recovery he tries and shows you how grateful he is!
He’d either tell you that you where one brave kid and he’s very thankful for that
And/or he’d find you some old teddy that he’d think you’d like!
Carley
Tumblr media
Like Doug she felt so bad!
She was shocked at first but then anger took over and she started screaming at Lilly
She helped you get inside and find anything to patch you up
All the time ever during your recovery you could hear her angrily shit talking Lilly for what she did to you
Like Doug, she was obviously a little guilty and would tell you that she was grateful of what you did but she wouldn’t let the guilt consume her forever
But she’s always looking out for you now more than ever
Ben
Tumblr media
This poor dude was too shocked to do anything!
He just watched in horror
This was all because of him (and Lilly) but he felt so much guilt!
He never stopped feeling guilty
He doesn’t know what to do at all
He does get you anything you need!
But he just can’t look at you :(
It probably takes him a good few months just to be able to look at you
The only thing you can really get out of him is
“…so uh how are you?”
He just don’t know what to do he wishes he could just go back and stop all of this

saw ur reqs are open n i was wondering if u could write s1/2 steve just spoiling his gf?? hes kind of like an accidental sugar daddy😭
steve harrington x fem!reader
its an average day in hawkins, not too warm or too cold. well, as average as this town could get after having an inter-dimensional leak into the confines of the town. however, now there is more reason for the ‘gang’ to actually become friends — despite one member being more than just your friend already.
steve harrington waits around the corner from your locker, eyes patiently scanning the rusted door and looking up every time it releases a god-awful screech. he knew how the whole ‘battle with the demo-dogs’ had affected you, how the loss of bob had affected you, and he wanted to make you feel special. you were his girlfriend after-all, and you were so very special.
as steve continued with his patient waiting, occasionally waving and smiling lightly at people who’d greeted him, you had finally stepped through the doors. you didn’t look like you belong in a solemn place like this. you were a beacon of light, a beacon of hope for dear old steve harrington. your hips swayed in your skirt, juxtaposing your stiff arms placed rigidly around your folder; ensuring it wouldn’t be dropped at all.
your plan was unsuccessful, however, when your boyfriend grabbed your waist as you opened your locker and hoisted you up into the air. “steve! for fucks sake my heart just dropped.” you screamed, hand clutching your chest as you lean down towards your folder on the floor. the small skirt revealing too much to the people watching in the halls for steve’s liking, stepping behind you and holding your hips to make sure what is his, stays his. he ensures that nobody can look up your skirt while he stands behind you.
“well g’morning to you too, sweetheart. really gave me a wake-up call there with that voice of yours.” he smirks, that famous slanted posture his lips take shape into that everyone knows.
you smack his shoulder playfully. “well maybe if you weren’t such a lovesick douche, i wouldn’t be so scared to walk around and shout at anyone who tries it on, now would i?” you pout up at him slightly, him meeting your face and placing a comforting kiss to your plush lips. it made your head spin, it was such a delicate kiss yet so passionate in the sense of familiarity and solace.
“haven’t even seen the gift i got you yet, and you’re suckin’ my face already? maybe you’re the lovesick one.” he mumbles against your lips, pressing one final peck before leaning backwards with his arms crossed upon the locker next to yours.
“gift? what’re you on about?” you say staring at him with furrowed brows, not focusing on pulling out your necessary books for the day until the hard feelings of their spines were replaced by soft layers of… petals?
you spin your head towards the locker itself, overflowing with bouquets upon bouquets of red roses, petals spilling out upon the floor and slowly dancing in the small breeze that flittered through the halls after being invited in from that damned rusty door. you don’t even know how to react other than a sharp gasp, and hands flying to your mouth.
the noise had made people grow curious, a gathering forming in the hall around you two as whispers grew. “that’s so romantic…” “why don’t you do that for me?” “he’s so sappy… harrington’s gone soft.” yet the sound of them only entered your ears as white noise, the only thing in your focus was your boyfriends face; flushed with a light pink blush from all the attention and small tugs at the corners of his lips.
“steve! you shouldn’t—“
“hey. none of that, ‘kay? wanted to spoil my girl after everything. and if you think this is all i have for you, you have some preparations to be doing doll. got dinner at your favourite diner tonight, and more presents sittin’ in my car. want to show you how much i love you.”
you grab his face, and smoosh his soft cheeks in your hands before kissing every inch of his face. his nose, forehead, even eyelids. everywhere and then finally focusing in on your favourite part of it all. his kiss tasted of mint gum and cherry chapstick, a combination strong enough to leave a tingle on your lips when you pull away. “i love you, harrington. my favourite boy forever, thank you so much. don’t even know what to say.”
“don’t have to say anything, sweetheart. jus’ let me spoil you.” he holds your hip as he guides you down the hall slowly.
“you’re like my sugar daddy yaknow?”
“watch that mouth pretty girl, you’re pushin’ it now.” he says as he clutches your waist, walking you down the hallway towards your next class before kissing your forehead goodbye.

Who’s going to die in s5 and does anyone even need to die?
putting my thoughts on this out there now because i'm curious how they will hold up with s5 canon or if the characters that i think are narratively untouchable will bite it in the opening
because objectively, no, no one needs to die. not every story needs to kill off major characters to be "dramatic". strangers things has even gone out of it's way to avoid doing that since it’s first season. the characters that Do die are always ones that were introduced in the same season with the specific purpose of dying. Barb, Alexei, Eddie, all the vecna victims
they even skirt killing main characters, like how Eddie in s4 seems to be the placeholder for Steve since they didn’t want to kill him yet. there’s also interviews saying they wanted to kill him in s1 or 2 but then didn’t because they liked his character and wanted to keep him in the story. (also a fan favourite character too yk). similarly El was also supposed to die in s1, but even before st becomes a multi season show it's implied she’s alive right in the last minutes of s1
so while St sure loves killing people (see just how many people died in lab massacre 1 in 1979, lab massacre 2 in 1984, and the flesh flayer human meat incident) you’re pretty save as long as you’re a main character and survived your first season on the show
so s5 continuing with that and not killing any main characters is definitely an option, they don't need to kill. no matter how much the audience is waiting for "stakes" to be set, not every story needs to kill it's characters
on the other hand, there’s also a lot that suggests they might kill someone for real this time. challenging the perceived safety of main characters in the last season with a world ending stakes set up in s4 seems reasonable. there’s also the more theoretical perspective that we're in the final season now and there’s no coming back for any of these characters anyway, no matter if they live or die. the logic of making it to the next season that saved some of their asses before no longer applies
it would also make sense and not be uncommon for a story to kill someone important during the final installment to make it apparent how BadTM it is. most of the audience is also aware by now that the show isn't killing long running mains so changing that rule would serve the final season well (especially if it happened before the last 2 episodes and put people more on edge for the finale, now that mains apparently aren't completely invincible anymore)
so leading up to s5, I really think the chance of them killing at least one major character for real this time is the highest it’s ever been. the question would just be, who? and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone agree on this ever so I just want to go it over myself, get my thoughts on this out pre s5 spoilers rolling in. trying to evaluate how solid a build up for a death would be
going over various characters under the cut
there’s obviously some side characters that could reasonable die but I think would be the weakest choices, if not an outright joke at an attempt of “emotional impact” on the story
for example, they could kill Murray, there’s really nothing stopping them, but it wouldn’t be a very impactful death. the only one who has a real connection with him is Joyce. if they wanted to kill more than one character I can see them going for it, especially if they killed Murray earlier and had a bigger character die towards the end of the season. but otherwise, if he’s the only one dying it’d be funnily underwhelming. this also goes for Dimitri (depending on if he will be back for s5). easy to kill but would suck phenomenally as the only death
same for characters like Vicky and Argyle, who are both incredibly new characters so killing them would be very underwhelming. here with the added aspect of them both being minorities, and while you can obviously kill minority characters just fine, if they were the only characters dying it would look pretty bad compared to the 90% white and het cast that’d be alive. killing Vicky with her ongoing romance plot where they need to establish an entire relationship first would also be obviously stupid
moving to main and secondary characters of the show that have more significance. secondaries like:
Robin, who like Vicky and Argyle, would also be a weak choice. killing her at the end of her romance arc set up for s5 would be extremely unsatisfying in a way that doesn’t fit any of the shows themes. also again, killing just her would look horrible, and even if two people died, she’s been the public queer rep of the show before they officially had Will too post s4, would be kind of an insane choice to kill her
Steve on the other hand has much more merit to him. he’s the character we know the Duffers wanted to kill years ago and only held back due to the actors charisma and potential they saw for his story. and both of these points would be moot in a final season of the show. there’s also been enough foreshadowing of a death that would stand out on a rewatch and make it feel more planned. like the funnily long handshake he and Dustin have in s3 including Dustin stabbing Steve and him “dying”. killing him would also work to impact a significant number of characters as well as the audience since he IS a fan favourite. on the other hand, it would be a bit questionable to kill the other "guy that's close with Dustin" right after he had Eddie die on him. Eddie was a pretty clear place holder for Steve in s4, so killing Steve the season after wouldn’t be very different from a storytelling pov. but I could see them go for it, easy death, enough set up, potential to be upsetting, not whole show-vibe ruining
because compared to that, Hopper is someone I honestly don’t see dying at all. he not only had a full fake out death, the whole of s4 russia arc was about getting him back alive. if they just kill him anyways most of s4 will feel pretty pointless, especially after he’s Just at the point where he might see that he isn’t a curse on all the people around him. killing him would negatively impact his character growth AND fall flat with him already having died and come back right after. killing him fr right after he came back would honestly just be really funny, like, i don't know how serious people would even take it, i'd just expect him to come back again tbh
Joyce… is just kind of out there. killing her off would be brutal with how central of a character she is. her and Mike really were the two plot leading characters all the way back in s1 and her character seems to be a bit of a face of ST alongside with characters like El. it would also be rough on Will and Jonathan, like, character altered forever rough, so if she died these characters would have to change drastically. which would need her death to happen before the last two episodes if they wanted to do it justice. and killing her that early on would also feel odd with how much she’s a part of the core story. and of course there’s the whole deal with her just having gotten together with Hopper which should at least give her a few episodes of protection to explore that. overall, I think they could do it, but they would have to be insanely careful to pull it off well and I’m not sure it’s something they’d go for or something that's even possible to do well with only 8-9 episodes
Jonathan is someone a lot of people seem to think could die, but I also feel like a that idea comes from general lack of interest in his character. he Could die, yeah, it would also be interesting how characters dealt with it, but just like with Joyce, killing him off in the last episode would very much feel like a cheap kill for shock value since the strongest aspect of killing a character like him would be seeing the ripples it has over the story. and killing him would also put an extremely tragic end to his character arc which he hasn’t finished yet. he’s constantly parentified, steps back in favour of other people, he still couldn’t tell Nancy he wants something different than her for college, and so on. his s5 arc would have to focus more on his own growth over the series and accepting himself and his worth, so dying would be insanely tragic for him. again I feel like they Could do it, but it’s questionable if they’d be able to do it justice and not make it feel like his character is from a Shakespearean tragedy while everyone else is from a different genre
Just on reflex, Nancy is someone I don’t see dying. killing her would be really bold. all with her being one of the few women, and a character that's always been near the center of the story, and with her being the deciding party in the middle of a love triangle. but on the other hand, I could see some merit in killing her. she was the main leader in s4 and arguably already had her moment to shine when she shot Vecna (even if they still lost, it was arguably the most epically framed “win” moment of the season). she also finally got some closure on Barb’s death, ie. knowing Vecna killed her. you could also definitely argue that it would be interesting if Nancy was the one to ultimately die instead of the vision where she saw her mom, Holly, and Mike, dead (or implied to be dead, she doesn't say the word). so the longer I think about it, the more I could see a positive impact on the story. but it'd still be rough, and it would mean upsetting both Jancy and Stancy shippers by having neither have a happy ending, which, actually, would be kind of interesting, but I’m not sure the Duffers would go for
and then there’s of course the kids where it gets really hard imo. both based on the tone of ST and how it would be insanely dark
Erica is just someone I genuinely don’t think they can kill, ever. she’s the absolute youngest, also one of their 3 poc characters. don’t see any reality where she dies. they already didn't handle her character particularly well since her introduction so, no way they're insane enough to kill her
similar to my point about Hopper earlier, I also don’t see Max dying at all. she almost died in s4 during her initial encounter with Vecna, barely survived, and then got got for real and was dead pre El reviving her. her dying for real in s5 wouldn’t hit particularly hard anymore after she starts the season lost in some variation of a coma. her s5 arc already has to be about finding her, and presumably her dealing with the trauma of waking up. also whatever role she plays in the season, since we don’t know how many episodes it'll take before we can get her thoughts and actions again. killing her at the end would be kind of repetitive and absolutely fuck her character arc over since she just realized how badly she wanted to live regardless of her depression
El's character would also not have any benefit from dying, it would actively cut her character arc short, which has been a central point of every season up to now. her whole deal is learning that she’s not a monster that’s responsible for everything and figuring out who she actually wants to be as a person that can make her own decisions. her ending the series dying or sacrificing herself like so many people seem to think she will would be very weak writing imo. having her finally reach a point in s5 where she's free of Brenner, and guilt over what happened, and her het relationship with her boyfriend who doesn’t love her, and finally starts to realize who she wants to be, only to have her make the decision to die for the people she loves would just suck. it’d be compelling... if ST was a drama story and trying to tell a story of hopelessness. which is not at all what ST has been up until now and is also not what anyone involved has said s5 to be
Will is also unkillable without completely breaking the genre of the show. people are right that him dying in s5 would be full circle to s1. and showing the inevitability of the UD killing him after all and how he couldn’t get away would be fun sure, but it’s not stranger things. aside from actors already having said Will gets some form of happy ending, killing him just wouldn’t work. everyone was trying to get him back alive all the way back in s1. him eventually dying after all is a cool concept in theory, but it doesn’t work with the show at all
Mike is also hard to kill. with Byler happening, it would be insane to kill either of the two parties right after having them get together or confirm each other’s feelings. Mike is one of the characters with the most consistent allusions to something bad happening, especially in s4, with the whole set up of “hasn’t unpacked yet”, jaws poster, “death count is going to rise”, and Nancy’s whole vision about him presumably dying, but it’s much more likely he just won’t have a good time in s5, not die. he already had a fake out death as far back as s1 with the cliff, so if they want the show to go “full circle” they could just have him almost die again, or have someone Think he died for a bit. perma killing him just doesn't work with the mleven to byler arc they set up for s5
Lucas doesn’t have any death flags and there would be no benefit in killing him. killing Will for example would at least be interesting on a meta writing level if you disregard the genre of the show, but killing Lucas would just… feel insanely unjust, he's just a kid who already went through writing fuckery in s4. he also almost lost Max, and his s5 arc seems to be very focused on her and helping her. killing him off right after Max survived would just be plain bad. do not see Lucas dying in any reality
And Dustin is my "if they had to kill a kid". there Are some lines you could definitely catch on a rewatch post death that would make it feel less out of nowhere, be it the “if you die I die” said to Steve, or Suzie talking about Dustin feeling like it could foreshadow a death. Dustin also doesn’t have the protection someone like Mike has, where he’s in the central gay childhood best friends to lovers plotline
overall, I think Vicky and Argyle are essentially guaranteed to be fine. there’d be not much emotional payoff for the audience and only the killing of the few diverse characters of the cast. Robin would also be hard to kill without making it look weird with her just introduced romantic interest. Hopper and Max are too much “been there done that” to die for real. and the kids dying would at best seriously derail the expectations the show set until now and negatively fuck some of their character arcs over at worst
so. tldr, my thoughts on this: killing Joyce is possible imo, but extremely hard to do justice. similar sentiment about Jonathan, even more so bc it directly conflicts with his character's core struggle. killing Nancy would probably be the most interesting choice to go for, to me, if done well, but it’s something I don’t really see happen in the show. Steve seems like the most likely choice to die since he’d be a pretty easy kill, the audience and a significant amount of characters like him so it would have impact, there’s enough death flags to make it seem foreshadowed… would just work really well. and if any of the kids died it would have to be Dustin imo, even though I’m still of the belief that they won’t touch the kids when it comes to killing characters
also, Murray's just a free kill to me, not impactful enough on the characters to fully derail character arcs but still with the show long enough to be a bit sad to see go. if they’d kill only him it would be a bit wasted because it would feel like a copout of killing an impactful character, but if they want to kill a primary character and make stakes higher by killing someone else, Murray is the easiest to turn to for that, especially if they want someone to die in the earlier episodes
and this is just about the "main" characters (as a broad term here). characters that could also ofc die are other kids parents, police officers we know like Callahan, other side characters like Mr Clarke or the mayor. but most of these would not really have much impact on the story and would pass more as casualties along the way
the Wheelers are a bit of an in-between here, because while none of them get regular main character focus and don’t even know about the UD, they still come back every season on a personal level and have the most solid characterization out of side characters. Karen even has a noteworthy character arc, which none of the other side characters have. Holly will be fine honestly, Ted is really just there, not much screen time, i don't really see much benefit in having him die, if he did it would most likely have to be in passing or in mass casualties. so Karen would be the one I could realistically see be compelling to kill. as a side character I’d put her on a Murray level, where she’s consistently on screen and everyone knows her but she’s not really someone people would be upset for days about
the Murray treatment also goes for someone like Owens btw, where I could easily see him die as a side note (not as the main death). he's been with the show for a while but doesn't have enough impact on the story to really force you to keep him alive. there's for sure info we can still get from him in s5, but after we have a full picture of what happened with El and Henry at the lab and how Owens was involved there's really nothing keeping him alive as a character
and everyone's done, wall of thoughts over!
that’s where I’m at with all the characters as of now, especially from looking at their past arcs up to s4. I’m just really curious how this will hold up with the actual s5. Maybe they’ll just go in bold and kill someone I would have said has a 0 chance of dying right away, who knows who knows

Jen's ultimate rank list
For whatever reason the brain weevils have taken over and I decided I wanted to properly rank every Y series I've watched thus far. Why am I doing this? I really don't know. It just felt like a good use of a dreary Sunday. These will be split by region and I'm not including Western stuff because it doesn't, for me, fit what I think of when I think about a Y or BL series. I've not been analytical about a ranking system, it's mostly based on rewatch factors and how much it stuck with me after it ended. Some dramas I'll rewatch but they're not dramas I'd consider in my top list so just vibes also had to play a factor. (My MDL list isn't to be trusted. Girl, why did you give My Engineer a 9. What were you smoking? Also consider Cherry Magic and Perfect Propose in the top 5. Just not finished yet so I couldn't officially place them.)

Arnold J. Rimmer is autistic: a (in)complete list of evidence
let me preface this by saying i am autistic so what i say goes <3
but on a serious note, there is SO much evidence that rimmer is autistic and i’m here to display it all, i guess! everything i list here i also experience, so trust me on this one.
1. special interests and attachment to certain items
i think the most obvious example of this would be in s3 e2 “marooned”. he has such a strong attachment to his soldier figures (forgive me i cannot remember what they are called) and his camphorwood chest he’s literally willing to burn *his 20k+ dollarpounds* instead. in this episode he also mentions that as a child, when his favourite shoes were ruined he cried for weeks. he even mentions that he himself was thrown into the septic tank, not specifically his shoes - but he focuses on the shoes. he obviously had a very strong attachment to those shoes - stronger than an allistic kid probably would.
now, special interests - you cannot tell me his obsession with the military isn’t a special interest. as a person with special interests, his strong fixation on military history reminds me of how i interact with my special interests. i also believe that aliens and space were definitely a special interest for him in s1 - s2, but he doesn’t seem to bring it up much after that - but losing special interests or having them come on and off is definitely a thing that happens to me, so it can happen for him too.
2. missing the point/not looking at the bigger picture and focusing on small details instead
once again, citing marooned for this one. when lister tells rimmer he lost his virginity at 12 years old on a golf course, rimmer instead realises that at that age lister would not be able to be a full member of the golf club, meaning he would be trespassing - instead of the obvious point that 12 is VERY young to be having sex. another example of something going over rimmer’s head is in s2 e5 “queeg”, when lister tells rimmer the “shoes have soles” joke, it completely goes over his head - and when you think he’s going to figure out that it’s a joke, he instead says “how did the shoes open the car door?”
3. stimming
over the course of the show i have picked up on a LOT of different ways i’ve seen rimmer stim. here are the ones i’ve compiled:
bouncing leg
chewing/biting nails
biting fist
doing that little subtle bounce on his heels
swinging arm
pacing
honestly at this point i’m convinced his classic salute is a stim, as he’s seen doing it out of excitement in s2 s2 “better than life” when receiving news he’d past his exam (he also does it twice in a row for no reason at the end of tongue tied)
there’s probably more that i’m missing lol.
4. missing social cues
in s4 e6 “meltdown”, lister and cat are very obviously not interested in the story rimmer is telling - but he continues telling it nonetheless, not realising they don’t want to keep listening. while this could’ve been just him ignoring that they don’t want to listen, i’m choosing to think it’s the former option. he also wasn’t aware that gazpacho soup was served cold, which should be general knowledge for someone of his age. there’s probably other examples of this happening but i’m getting tired and can’t be bothered searching.
and now: a list of things that i’ve noticed but either don’t know how or can’t be bothered to expand on!
misophonia
hearing electricity
trouble keeping relationships
heavily bullied in childhood (and in adulthood too)
trouble with initiative (“i never think for myself!”)
low empathy
need for routine and organisation
similarly, organises things for fun
this is all the evidence i can think of at the moment, but if anyone has anything to add feel free!! i’ll probably end up adding more to this in time.

Remembered that you like exploring religious themes in TDP, and I just had a thought:
I was trying to figure out what it was about the connection between Callum's two arcanums that was giving me weird déjà vu vibes, and then I remembered that, in the biblical creation story, the sky and the sea were created on the same day-- the second day. And not only that, but all of the animals of the air and ocean (birds, fish, etc) were also created on the same day-- the fifth day.
Honestly, what Callum's arcanums remind me the most of is the myth of Icarus. *puts myth hat on cause this has been my favourite myth since childhood*
Tumblr media
(Full edits here & here)
Specifically, Icarus is given wings, soars to new heights / too close to the sun, and then plummets to his death in the ocean. Now, the Book 2 novelization references the myth of Icarus quite clearly in its prologue, harkening to a past in-universe myth that a young girl defies by flying successfully, and clearly meant to invoke Callum unlocking the sky arcanum later in S2. Wings and flight and freedom and all that - unlimited potential
As someone who's always loved the myth of Icarus, it always fascinated me that in public consciousness, we only remember how Icarus did fail, and the fall itself, rather than how he could've fell and where he ultimately ended up. He was told not to fly too close to the sun or the ocean, and to pick the middle rode (moderation) in order to make it safely home. It's a cautionary tale about how we shouldn't fly too high or too low, but given that humans tend to be more self destructive with grandiosity and the fact it's the one that had actual consequences, I suppose it's unsurprising that the "Icarus flew too close to the sun" is what gets remembered universally.
I expected a sort of Icarus arc for Callum regarding magic the second he got his wings, tbh. Like... you just don't give a character who's already sometimes too persistent/curious/fixated for his own good and give him wings unless you want to invoke some of that imagery, and given that arc 2 (s4-s6) had to ultimately be a tragedy, it made sense to me that Callum would, well, Fall before rising again stronger than ever before. A broader arc that could parallel Ezran taking the throne, abdicating, and then becoming king again, or Soren's own restoration arc, if you will, within S3 or S1-S3 itself
AKA I was very hyped for the fact the season was called Ocean and that S4 had perfectly set up the pieces for Callum to have his first 'Fall' arc (cause S6 has to be worse, y'know? For 11th hour reasons). The fact that Callum goes from highest highs through magic & out of his love for Rayla (3x09 with wings) to current lowest lows through the same methods and same reasons (5x08) that's symbolized by unlocking the Ocean arcanum? Chef's fucking kiss, lemme tell you. Bonus edit here
That said, I don't think any of this was necessarily intentionally that specific, nor the even more specific parallel I'm about to lay out, but it tickled me pink so I'm including it
Callum flies too close to the sun with magic (specifically dark magic) in 2x07 and it comes back to haunt him. He flies too close to the sun in going to the Sunfire library in 5x04 and staying there past the time he should because he wants to help Rayla. Then he unlocks his freedom (literally) and connects to the Ocean arcanum, but this won't necessarily save him, ultimately, either.
But yeah. Sun and sky and ocean. Rise and flight and fall. We love a little Icarus boy

so i just saw this post
https://www.tumblr.com/fuckyeahgoodomens/724574959442247680/i-noticed-that-while-in-s1-crowley-is-always-on
and like… yo… we need to search some other times when crowley and aziraphale switched their usual places, 'cause I KNOW they have
and also, what do you think about this? because i also find it extremely curious, taking into consideration that the only time when they switched places in season 1 was:
1. the globe, when crowley was basically circling around aziraphale when talking about the arrangement - which makes perfect sense, basically showing through his movement how they take each other's roles when they need to
2. in the scenes before the trial when they actually switched appearences
so what does this say about this ending?
well personally, i don't think it's a body swap; again, i think it would completely derail a good portion of the message in the Feral Domestic™ scene, and would make parts of the narrative redundant.
(further asks and 'analysis' under cut)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i think the point of the body swap in s1, and as LWA✨ has consistently pointed out (and i trust them with my life, on god), is that it was a means of demonstrating to the audience (and was meant to demonstrate to each other, not that the boys seemed to notice) that they are two halves of the same whole, and their true balance and power is achieved in working together... and this to me doesn't seem like the scene to do it in. there may be more to it than that, but so far this makes sense to me.
i did some ramblings on their positioning in s1, the globe instance to the contrary you've already pointed out bestie, and because im a mad lad ive gone through s2 on fast forward to spot as many as possible:
- when crowley discovers gabriel, and pre-miracle:
Tumblr media
- goob's earliest memory:
Tumblr media
- resurrectionist minisode:
Tumblr media
- 40s minisode:
Tumblr media
- returning the plants:
Tumblr media
- "plume of your imaginary tante", and "if you're going to stand here and just carp-"
Tumblr media
- ball:
Tumblr media
- the ineffable bureaucracy reveal, and the Smooch™:
Tumblr media
now my initial thought (and i will return to this post once ive read the Long Document), is that some of the purpose for these shots (and the positioning of aziraphale to crowley's left rather than his right) may be just down to good ol' fashioned blocking. and that may be the case.
but as you say, it was very deliberate in s1 that it was the other way around, that aziraphale was on crowley's right (with traditional connotations of good and just). the exception to this being the globe (where we see aziraphale get tempted into another Arrangement, so crowley circling him in a predatory manner, cycling him on the balance between right and wrong, was appropriate symbolically).
now to me, i feel like the above is explained by my favourite explanation stand-by: character development. in most of these scenes, we see aziraphale either directly stand in opposition to heaven and/or angelic purpose (or having a Human Moment), is questioning his own beliefs in morality, or simply is having a particularly intimate crowley moment. so his increased presence on crowley's left is again, to me, symbolically apt.
in terms of something "being off", i absolutely felt this in the screening of eps 1 and 2; it felt very different tonally, and i wasn't quite sure how to take it. there was a reason why i was so behind my theory that the episodes were fake/altered ones (which i still think would have been a mega-brain idea), and that's because it just didn't feel right.
this season is very different to s1, there is no doubt about it. but at this moment in time (until i properly read the Long Document, at least), i don't think it's because of a higher narrative purpose. i do think metatron has been meddling or spying, but not so much to the point that i think s3 will reveal a retcon of s2 (bearing in mind ive only skimmed the Long Document, so this inference of what it's proposing may be entirely inaccurate (ie noone @ me)). that, to me, would be very strange - to essentially render all/most? of s2 redundant.
so at the moment, no real thoughts from me on this, other than me thinking that the aziraphale placement is, as far as i currently see it, completely symbolic✨

@heartstoppercentral's heartstopper appreciation week
Day 4 - Favourite moment(s) from s1
I have so many favourite moments from season 1. After over 10 times rewatching you understand that you love all season, even episode 7. Honestly, season 2 don't give me so much emotions like season 1. Maybe reason is that it was so refreshing and natural and guys still be kids, because now they so grown up
But back to season 1.
My favourite moments
- Nick's little smile in the end of episode 1
- Nick find Charlie after he saw Tara and Darcy kiss and their have flirting conversation and go to the race in stairs and corridor
- First kiss scene
- Charlie hug Nick after he confessed his feelings after their first kiss
- Nick clean Charlie's face while he visiting him to checking if he's ok after Charlie has been hurted in the game
- Charlie said "We should go to the date sometimes" and apologies because it's stupid, but Nick said "we should, I like that"
- Nick take Charlie's hand and go with gim in corridor and confess how much Charlie mean to him
- Beach date
I hope it's not many, but how I said before I simply love this series
