I really despise the Marvelification of Stranger Things, because all the interviews nowadays are constantly referencing how fast paced and epic and big the finale will be but the reason people fell in love with the show wasn't special effects or long episodes; it was the plot, it was the characters, it was the mystery. Stranger Things 1 may have been a story about a government conspiracy and a monster, but that's not why we stuck around. The show can throw amazing CGI, Russians, a battle within the American army and an apocalypse at the audience with the biggest budget known to man but if they forget to ground it and keep it central, it'll just get lost amongst a plethora of other "epic" blockbusters. We want Steven King, not Avengers.

#i think s5 has a TON of potential to be great don't get me wrong #but they need to drive home the characters #make the final fight rooted in emotion not throwing hands at each other and screaming #s4 i think was getting there by exploring max's arc and the hawkins plotline was perfect #so don't take this as me saying s5 will be bad #but s1 and 2 are my favourites for a reason #im just getting nervous based on them constantly banging on about how big the finale will be #ALSO they need to put emphasis on the mystery around will and the ud being frozen #if they keep it central and focus on will and eleven i think they can pull it off #but i hope this makes sense #stranger things #byler #will byers #stranger things five #st5 #stranger things one #stranger things two

Not a big fan of "it's all gloom and doom in Rusty Lake" which is one reason I created Down the Rabbit Hole, because there's hope in suffering. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Like an anon once pointed out, Dale tried to kill David and it didn't heal him. It didn't fix him. So maybe ... He needs to forgive him instead.

In the same way I think Rusty Lake is about how hurt people hurt people, characters pass off their own traumas onto other characters. A cycle that is waiting to be broken.

And that's why I like to believe that Albert won't be a bad father to Rose. He's not the best, obviously. But he's not the worst either. He tries, because he knows what it's like to be a hated neglected child. He knows what it's like to hurt and suffer. And he wouldn't want that for Rose. He finds redemption in her. And I prefer to believe even a ""monster"" could love, even he could have a second chance.

Probably an unpopular opinion but idc, because to me Rusty Lake is about the horrors of trauma, but not only that, it's also about healing from those traumas. Being reborn, a new person, metaphorically, without the damages of your old self. And now Albert is reborn, a new person.

It doesn't erase his past sins. But he now has a second chance. And tho idc much about the Vanderbooms, I am looking forward to seeing what he'll make of this second chance.

There's beauty in Rusty Lake, in a sense that pain breaks us, and the memories of the past hurt, and sometimes our pain causes us to hurt others. But the cycle will be broken. There's hope under all the misery. You will pick up the broken pieces, and create a new you, ready to hurt and love again.

Perhaps this is a hot take but if you're someone who hates maths in a way where you think it's all bullshit and was just invented to make people suffer, you are a step away from science denialism. If you will blindly dismiss anything about mathematics because you hate it so much, even if it's a trauma response to a shitty school experience, you are so close to being able to do the same for science

but...now that shes gone...on really bad days, when locks his door and cries in his room and feels seven years old again, all he wants is his mom singing something lightly in spanish and rubbing vicks vaporub on his back & making everything better again...I AM FUCKING SAD.

but yeah, the smell just calms him down when he's having a Stannic Attack and he has a lot of them because he's not good at being a celebrity and he has really severe ptsd. so yeah! The Vial! haha.

i don't entirely blame hex, probably he wasn't aware of it being parasocial (though i doubt, he must've heard the term and how people don't let their viewers vent to them. like there has to be a chance where he's at least a fan of some njsj streamer, he must have heard of the rule before)

i understand what you're saying but i have to disagree a little bit? idk, even if he doesn't see it as parasocial, he has to know it's wrong. he's a full grown adult with a massive following, he needs to know better or he shouldn't be in the position he's in. because even if he is a baby streamer, how do you not know what you're getting into when you're joining a massive liver company?

and also it just feels weird to be like "i'm not a professional but you can vent to me. but no trauma dumping!" when venting can lead to trauma dumping. idk it's just hypocritical and it feels like hex is gonna be another vox to me, personally.

at the end of the day, i really think the talents need to be a bit more aware of what their doing and what it means to have such a large following and also, nijien needs to do a better job screening and preparing their talent for what's coming. teaching them what is and isn't okay. but at the end of the day nijien doesn't care either because the parasocial vibes and preying on mentally ill/unwell/sad people for their money is just easy money to them.

Basically, I don't think it's uncommon at all for marriages/very committed romantic relationships to "interfere" with someone's pre-existing friendships, and it especially wasn't 50 years ago. Society values monogamous romantic relationships above all others (save for blood ties, I guess), that's why we have an entire legal-religious institution to certify them; to act like they don't fundamentally matter in how people organize their lives, again especially 50 years ago, is naïve IMO.

I actually find it a bit strange when people imply the only reason Paul should be bothered by the space Yoko was taking up in John's life is because he wanted to be John's romantic/sexual partner.* I mean, it's possible, but John's reorienting toward Yoko was decidedly more than just switching whom he regularly slept with.

*funnily enough I feel like people often have to imply John never really loved Cyn to fully make sense of that theory. Which Is A Weird Take. Unless you're a JP-tinhat who thinks Paul was a "late bloomer" in which case: good on you for having a spicy take. Pls talk to me tbh.

Of course, John was already married before, but he was simultaneously very invested in strengthening his bond with all his band members, to an extent which would still be considered unconventional nowadays. But it seems like, once Yoko came into the picture, he was no longer nearly as continuously invested in this (at least as far as Paul could reasonably tell).

Pre-68, the Beatles + their partners and entourage were an oddly tight-knit group that shared an astounding amount of their lives together, a lot due to the isolation of fame, among other factors. Therefore, it's not unreasonable for Paul to compare his relationship with John to a marriage. We don't really have a word to accurately describe their relationship, although the fact they were actually legally tied to each other and "shared" all their songs makes it an apt analogy IMO.

And that's all without even going into the fact that JohnandYoko were not in the slightest a normal couple with normal levels of commitment.

ok my fantasy au is more about the archangels than midam specifically, but um basic idea:

the archangels and heaven are a lot like canon, except it’s all located on earth instead of. a different plane of existence?

its the usual set up of michael being the strict eldest, lucifer being the black sheep, raphael is the healer/more gentle sibling, and gabriel IS there + he’s close to the younger angels/sort of distanced from michael + lucifer

the main plot point is that lucifer stages a coup that the others don’t learn about until it’s. already in progress. lucifer’s main goal is driving the angels out and michael, who would usually be able to fight him off, is injured in the process

so basically that all leads to michael having to leave to get backup, but he gets hurt AGAIN, this time he’s almost killed by lilith

adam, a random citizen of a nearby village, happens to stumble upon an unconscious michael just outside of town and even though he has serious issues with heaven + the power they exert over humans, his moral code as a healer requires him to help michael, so he does

michael eventually wakes up, startled, and ofc immediately tries to leave, but he’s still in such a bad shape that adam just looks at him like 😐 yeah nice try

adam just wants to help michael enough that he can fuck off and hopefully won’t kill adam, so the first day or two is very tense as michael is pissed about not being able to help heaven

slowly, though, they become a little more friendly. michael tells adam about his siblings and heaven, and adam tells michael about his mother and how she inspired him to become a healer

as michael gets better, he starts planning again, and adam starts correcting his misconceptions about humans

they come up with some sort of plan to break into heaven and free the angels still held captive there, and adam suggests joining forces with some humans he knows (kristin and kevin lol) who can help them break the spells lucifer has up

(lucifer has warding up against angels, which is slowly poisoning the ones still stuck there, but not against humans (who he’s converting to demons with angel grace) or archangels (because. he’s an archangel) so they have better chances with human allies than seeking out angel reinforcements)

a lot of other stuff happens besides that. gabriel is off with the majority of the angels, hiding from lucifer while trying to plan out some recovery with kali, raphael is maybe still at heaven? idk i haven’t gotten that far lol. but yeah :)

i mean i do love them, but on one hand i really think the haha autism funny memes on here are like… genuinely doing more harm than good in terms of how autistic people are treated. like, it’s great that people with lower support needs who don’t present symptoms in a traditional way are being recognized and getting diagnosed but at the same time, this website lacks absolutely any and all critical thinking skills. so people think “well i’m autistic and so obviously i have the same experience as every other autistic person, and if anyone implies differently they’re an idiot” which is why we end up with people making stupid ass fucking posts like “i’m the cool kind of autistic not the trains/steven universe/whatever other thing i’ve deemed cringe type of autistic :)” and people making fun of childish or weird special interests or people not reading social cues or just all kinds of shit that they’ve decided they don’t want to cloud this new Cool Edgy Autism brand that’s being built and it’s SO bizarre??

it reminds me a lot of the transmed shit honestly, in that being part of a marginalized community doesn’t mean you don’t need to unlearn your internal biases toward that community.

like how is calvin garrah bullying some non-binary kid with rainbow hair because they “make the trans community look bad” any different from you bullying some fandom blogger because “not all autistic people are cringey weirdos and they make us look bad”

frankly, the people whose kneejerk reaction to bisan asking for a global strike form the 21st-28th is to say that it takes years to organize a general strike are really unhelpful! no one is saying otherwise, but palestine will be a smoking crater if we all wait for years to do anything - bisan is asking us to do something now. Like are we only supposed to do something if we can do it perfectly??? At some point it’s a valid critique about the work that goes into social movement, and at another point I feel like some people are just trying to absolve themselves from not putting any effort into observing a week of economic inaction.

like idk! I get it, okay! People have bills to pay that don’t magically go away for a strike, we don’t have nearly enough social infrastructure in place to support people to fully stop going to work for a week. But fuck, dude! Stop immediately responding in such a defeatist way! Cut out unnecessary purchases! Try to shop local! Put more effort into promoting Palestinian voices online! Attend a protest, call a local rep, do something!
