another aspect I absolutely love about this scene is the physical affection fifteen gives to an older man (I know fifteen is older but I’m talking more about appearance) which you barely ever see in movies and TV shows in such a gorgeously portrayed way - fourteen is older in appearance but takes support from fifteen like a young sibling, burying his face into his shoulder and latching onto him which I just think is beautiful

It’s 1:37 am so this is probably not gonna make a ton of sense but I think one reason rvb kind of refuses to make Grif a more interesting or in-depth character is bc at this point they’ve kind of written themselves into a corner with him because two of his biggest traits are “likes food” and “lazy” and they are both used to make fun of him but if you stop and look at his and his sister’s past for two seconds it kind of becomes abundantly clear why he eats a lot and values getting to rest, considering his rough home life growing up, but if the creators acknowledge that that’s why he’s like this then all of their jokes in retrospect feel really insensitive so to avoid that they just pretend that it isn’t the case or refuse to engage with it

Trying to get a better understanding of side b. I know it's SSA but no LGBT activity. But genuinely, how is it not identifying with sin/sinful labels? We're supposed to flee temptation, and isn't SSA a temptation? For example we wouldn't have a "non-practicing" murderer, who is ok with the temptation to murder but doesn't act upon it, but also doesn't flee the temptation. I hope I'm not coming off as accusing or rude in anyway. I'm just trying to understand the idea of using LGBT labels when we are supposed to be fleeing temptation.

I think the best way to explain it is Paul's thorn in 2 Corinthians 12. Its something that he prayed so much for it to go away but God decided not to remove it from him. And he praises God for that thorn, not because the thorn itself is good--its not--but because God's power is displayed in Paul's weakness in dealing with it.
For a lot of people ssa is a temptation that is lifelong. I was both side x and y at different points in my life and I prayed desperately for God to remove my ssa. And He didnt(I was able to suppress it into my subconscious for a long time but it was still there).
When I say that im a lesbian im not saying the temptation is good or right but what i am saying is that it is something that has shaped my lived experience and it is likely something that will be present within until I die. Its not my identity or whatever--that solely belongs to Christ. But its there, and speaking in this way allows me to be open about that both with myself and with others. Its honestly made dealing with that temptation much easier because its not something i feel like i have to hide or suppress, i can just acknowledge that its there--and that it will probably always be and then let it pass and move on with my day. Its so much less overwhelming and irresistible now.
And I get that that isn't easy for people to understand--that you can use those words to describe your experience and wholeheartedly reject all the connotations that come with non Christians using that word. I dont really blame people for misunderstanding that but its possible.
And in the same way Paul praises God for his thorn, so do I. It keeps me from any sense of legalistic pride or relying on my works. It forces me to rely on God for my future and provision in a way that heterosexual people--particularly in relationships--will never have the gift of experiencing. And I'm very thankful for that level of intimacy I've been able to cultivate with God because of it.

So...
I mentioned it before (At least I think so), but Sophia is a good example for having the right to be selfish.
Hear me out. When she tells us that she woke up P for her own sake, because she wanted to be freed, I first felt kinda shocked and disappointed (totally silly in the end). What do you mean you did it for yourself? :( *slaps past me*
But here comes to thing. It was her right so be selfish, since it also meant saving everyone else. Sophia was Simon's source of power. She was the person who collected the ergo for him through her powers, making the experiments possible in the first place while also suffering from him doing his best to strength her powers and maybe even keep her alive (this part is mostly a headcanon of mine, since it looked like she was bound to a machine... And I honestly don't think she would have survived such treatment for such a long time).
Sophia was the source of the carcass and mutations, so saving her was the first stop to end one of Krat's nightmares.
Anyway, that alone is one good reason in my opinion to show that her wanting to be saved in the first place was totally deserved. Also... Yeah she knew that she needed P to become stronger to save her, to collect Ergo and other things (to be able to get to her). But while he did that she also reminded him of the people, that he should help them and she reminded him about doing things for himself. Sophia supported P in his journey and his changes. She probably would have been able to get him faster to her, but no, she took her time for everyone's sake.
This post is probably unnecessary (and has a lot of error ughhh), but I really wanted to talk about this since I am still amazed about her role. Also, sweet reminder... Her wanting help in the end is pretty much a reference to the Blue Fairy in the book getting really sick and poor needing Pinocchio's help, which ended up not just saving her. Oh no, it was also the last step to get his humanity.
And we all know what we needed to do to get the 'Rise of P'-Ending... Our true humanity.

The thing that sucks the most about the type of abuse saiki faces from his parents is that the majority of it is psychological
Like his father and brother have beat down his own self confidence and how he views himself
He thinks he's a monster who's selfish and mean

But back to what I was saying
The fact that his father treats him as if he's such a freak and monster isn't what a father should do
And the thing that sucks about all this is that type of abuse is the easiest to convince yourself that it isn't abuse
Like it's easy to go oh they're just telling the truth or oh they haven't hurt me physically so it doesn't count (his father has tried before tho)
And the fact that his mother turns a blind eye to it also can make him feel like he's over exaggerated the whole situation even tho he absolutely hasn't

unsure how to word this but there is something about having ocs with unsavory events happening in their past where it's like. talking about it, even when asked, seems almost gratuitous and inappropriate. and i'd much rather describe it through the oc themself and/or draw Them saying it. which is like. fitting for the subject matter? like of course its weird to talk about somebody else's business...!
and falls back into humanizing em/exploratory writing and development where u consider the impact of words said/words unsaid/HOW those words are said etc etc

y'all i cannot believe wwdits is a real show. SPECIFICALLY season 4. it is a gay sitcom (i use the term sitcom loosely) that is not explicitly about being gay, but queerness is woven into every piece of it. it's not just "oh this show is about queer people being queer" but it's "it's about vampires and the supernatural, but their queerness is also important to the narrative." it makes jokes about being gay, but being gay is never the butt of the joke. we get symbolism and metaphors AND we get characters explicitly saying they're gay. it's natural. it's actually funny and not just trying to make gay jokes or characters just to tick a diversity box. there is no character that only exists as "the gay character."
i am just so thankful to be living in a time where we have shows like this coming out. even ten, twenty years ago we would be hard pressed to find shows with such diverse and vibrant queer representation and narratives. and as a queer writer/creative i am so so grateful that this is the direction we're headed in.

Hey fav author ^^ I have a question:^ how does scenting work? Mostly how does scenting an item work? Do you like, rub it all over yourself or? I was just wondering because of the scene where Price scented the bear. Hi lovely anon!! I've answered something similar before but I'm too lazy to go looking lmaoo.
Simple version, they have something called a scent gland where their body secretes their scent located on their neck near the junction of the neck and the shoulder. I know some authors have it actually like a visible protrusion from the body, but in this fic it's hidden under the skin. You can't really see it, but it's easy to find because that's where the scent is the strongest, but of course scent can be released from many parts of the body like the face or the scalp (which is where they're actually located on us, fun fact.) As well as a few other places. The claiming bite goes next to the scent gland, though occasionally an alpha will miss and hit part of the scent gland. Doesn't really affect anything, just is a little more painful and might take longer to heal.
Scenting can be done by rubbing something (or someone 😏) on the scent gland, or just the general area of the neck and face. Think kind of like how cats will rub their faces on you, sort of like that. So Price scenting the teddy, he would have just kind of nuzzled it and spread his scent all over it. Same with the sweatshirt, and basically how the scenting scene in chapter 1 happened.
I had Taco Bell for lunch (though I'm regretting it a bit now 😖) and I went outside for a few minutes with my dog to enjoy the last of the nice weather before it gets gross again this week. 💚
