Peter Pan & Wendy (2023) - Thoughts

A little bit of brief background here; I’m a huge Peter Pan fan. I grew up loving the Disney animated film but the 2003 live action has always been the superior Peter Pan adaptation to me; Peter Pan holds a special place in my heart as my late nan who I was close with used to take me to the panto every Christmas, and my favourite ones were always Peter Pan.

So without further ado: I watched the new Disney’s Peter Pan & Wendy that came out on Disney+ this weekend!

First, some live watching thoughts:

This movie is literally carried by Ever Anderson as Wendy, like no disrespect to the other cast but she literally carried this film in my opinion

By the way, anyone complaining about it being Wendy’s story is an idiot because the story has ALWAYS been Wendy’s story, ever since Barrie wrote the play and novels. Regardless of which version you watch, it always starts with her lamenting about not wanting to grow up and ends with her acceptance of the fact she must grow up - it’s HER journey, her development.

I have no idea why Disney/Lowery chose to cast two separate actors as Mr Darling and Captain Hook but I’m NOT a fan of that choice. Even in the animated film, they’re voiced by the same actor - it’s a part of Peter Pan tradition to have the actor play both roles, so it’s baffling that it’s not the case here.

I really wish this film had spent a little bit more time BEFORE Peter arrived to show us more of each of the children and also the relationship between the children and their parents. The film opens with a nice little scene of John and Michael sword-fighting whilst Wendy prepares to head off to boarding school, and then she joins them and their father scolds her for “this is how you choose to spend your last night in the nursery” and “you’re too old for this sort of fun”, which definitely works… but it’s very quick paced and it rushed by so quickly, like the film kind of just spends only a few minutes establishing “Wendy is being sent to boarding school the next morning; she doesn’t want to grow up; her parents want her to be a better role model to her brothers” and that’s it.

Also interesting to note that Wendy is not in a nightgown in this version but some kind of pyjama-ish undergarment outfit, plus a dressing gown

Nana appears but only in brief moments 😭 WE DESERVED MORE NANA! In this version she’s kind of more just a pet - they never mention that she’s the Darling family’s nursemaid and looks after the children, and there’s a brief flash where (I think) you see a young Wendy cuddling her as a puppy… like??? She’s not just a dog, she is not just a pet, she is the finest nursemaid on four paws because the Darlings can’t afford to hire one.

“I want things to stay the way they are.” “Perhaps I don’t want to grow up.” — same, Wendy, same

“Just imagine all of the things you would miss out on if you didn’t see where it took you… and all the things the world would miss if you weren’t there to do them.”

Mrs Darling’s lullaby was lovely by the way

Yara Shahidi as Tinkerbell is BEAUTIFUL. I love her facial expressions, and even though there’s less attitude and she’s not jealous in this version, I still love her

I know that the film was supposed to film in 2020 but Covid shut things down so they didn’t film until a whole year later, and obviously children grow very quickly… but Peter’s voice is so deep in this version, you can tell Alexander Molony hit puberty during lockdown. I feel bad for criticizing a kid about it because it’s not his fault, but it can’t be denied that he’s older than Peter is supposed to be. Ever Anderson was also 13-14 when filming actually happened, and while it’s slightly less glaringly obvious with her, she’s definitely a tiny bit older than most versions of Wendy. I think it’s more obvious with Alexander though because of the deep voice.

This version makes it seem like Mrs Darling is the storyteller and Wendy isn’t, which kind of bugs me to be honest but oh well

Let’s be honest, no adaptation will ever top the “Flying” scene from the 2003 version - that was a whole masterpiece in itself. This version does do a nice enough job though, all things considered, even if the CGI doesn’t always look quite right

I don’t want to slam how Neverland looks because I’m aware it was filmed in Newfoundland in Canada, which I don’t doubt is a beautiful place - what I will say is that I don’t know if there was some kind of ultra real gritty filter added on it if it’s something else, but to me it just wasn’t colourful enough. Neverland is supposed to be magical and vibrant and like a dream, not 100% rigidly realistic. They could have made Skull Rock shaped at least somewhat like a skull for God’s sake, just as an example

“Smee, make a note my cabin needs a new door.” “Yes… might I say, captain, that’ll be your third door this month-“ “and it won’t be the last.” — okay, I had a little giggle here, I won’t lie

Jude Law’s version of Hook has heterochromia which is definitely interesting - I wonder why it was included though, like what purpose does it serve the story

Wendy meeting the Lost Boys changed from Tink telling the boys to shoot her out of the sky and them nearly murdering her, to her washing up alone and running into them and Tiger Lily, which is definitely a choice

AHHHHH TIGER LILY SPEAKING CREE, SHE IS ALSO LITERALLY A PRINCESS IN EVERY SINGLE WAY LIKE HOW SHE SPEAKS AND CARRIES HERSELF

I am genuinely still on the fence about the Lost Boys including girls but at the end of the day… whatever. It’s not that big a deal in the grand scheme of things. I still find the “but you’re not all boys” “SO?!?” exchange cringey though, not gonna lie

Wendy’s response to the above being “well I guess it doesn’t really matter”, so true

I think it’s a good thing that the Lost Boys include non white and disabled kids (Slightly has Down syndrome) but also I really hope those kids stay off social media for a while because the absolute nastiness being flung around about them (especially Slightly) is disgusting

The Lost Boys being like “she’s too old” “she’s too grown up” 💀 that and Mrs Darling’s “darling, you barely fit in your bed” comment feel oddly meta and about the actors growing while filming was delayed

Wendy Moira Angela Darling realising her brothers have been captured by pirates: “…oh dear” 💀 the timing of it was perfect though lmao

Tell me that Smee did not just use the phrase “compatriots of you-know-who” in front of a man who played Dumbledore 💀

Peter Pan really disappears from this movie at about 20 minutes in (after appearing for the first time only 10 minutes beforehand) and doesn’t reappear until a whole 15 minutes later?!?

So what I’m getting from this adaptation is that instead of the Lost Boys actually getting “lost” and not claimed, Peter waits for them to say “I don’t want to grow up” then whooshes in and brings them to Neverland…

Okay so Wendy is still kind of seen as the storyteller in this version…? The kids ask her for stories so…?

“Wendy can be our mother” “goodness no! I don’t even know if I want to be a mother!” — I have thoughts about this??? On the one hand, I’m a book purist and for me I’m like “she does agree to be their mother tho??? That’s why she was brought to Neverland???” (And also she canonically has a daughter called Jane) but on the other I’m like “fair enough” because a) she’s a child and b) you can’t force people to have children if they don’t want them. Idk

Im 90% sure Wendy’s hair changed from a side parting to a middle parting at some point but I don’t know where or when it happened

Wendy singing a lullaby, which is actually a nice callback to her singing “Your Mother and Mine” in the animated film

You’re telling me Hook and the pirates have never found their huge ass tower hideout and that Wendy’s gentle singing was loud enough to reach the pirates and alert them of their location?!?

This film really missed a trick, like it could have really heavily leaned into the dark side of Peter Pan with the whole “you must never leave” stuff he says 👀

This film really wanted to be the 2003 version so bad, like the moment where Peter walks away after their conversation about Neverland not being what she expected and Wendy calls “Peter!”… it wanted to be the Fairy Dance scene WAY too bad

Imagine walking down their stairs into a room, turning around and seeing your brothers/the whole gang of lost boys tied up and gagged 😳

Mr Smee was the one who found Hook and rescued him, I’m-

HOOK SNAPPING WHEN SMEE CALLED HIM JAMES 😭

“Execute every last one of them” sounds so much worse than “become a pirate or walk the plank” like sir all they did was be kids who haven’t managed to hit puberty yet and you’ve got them all screaming like they’re about to be mass murdered (which they are) 💀

Wendy offering herself instead, “they’re only children, let them live!” - ma’am you are also a child?!?

“Let them live, they’ll be good pirates - especially those two” (meaning John and Michael)… I love Wendy stepping up and looking out for her brothers, especially given at the beginning of the film she full on blamed them for the whole mirror situation

Peter being super injured and unable to fly so Tiger Lily has to help him 🥹

Why does this pirate shanty as Wendy walks the plank actually slap hard though?!?

Tinkerbell lifting her little prison up and smashing Smee on the head so she can help Wendy, we love to see it

The fact that Wendy thinks happy thoughts stepping off the plank and it’s not just her childhood memories anymore (like in the flying to Neverland scene)??? She imagines growing up and the things she could do if allowing herself to grow up?!? 😭

The utter silence after she steps off the plank followed by Hook being like “… hang on, there was no splash?!?”

Tinkerbell damn near used every single bit of fairy dust in existence just to lift up the ship and play what is essentially a huge joke on the pirates is such legend behaviour lmao

“You have the boy’s magic.” “No, this magic belongs to no boy!” — HELL YEAH WENDY YOU ARE ALWAYS THE MAIN CHARACTER

I’ll be honest, for a film where Peter is billed first he has done VERY little besides a small duel, get stabbed and nearly die twice

The depressed pirate who goes “well wake me up before one of them kills the other… again” is such a mood lmfao same

It’s interesting that it’s Wendy with the flight skills as she fights and Peter without the flying I guess??

Wendy and Tiger Lily are literally saving every single other character’s asses at this point, like they’re the only reason anything has happened in this film

Rotating the entire ship was not something I thought I’d ever see and yet here we are

Peter falling off the upside down ship and Wendy catching him?!? And the fairy dust rubbing off onto him??? (Literally what even has Peter done in this film I feel bad for saying it but…)

I kind of like the idea that Peter and Hook intentionally don’t kill each other because both of them live for their battles and it’s almost like a game, a cycle, that Neverland lives off of? Idk if that makes sense lol

I’ve literally only just realised that the Teddy has a fork as a prosthetic arm 💀

“It’s time to get these lost boys home” - what she REALLY means is “let’s take them back to my place and I’ll tell my parents I’ve adopted ten children on their behalf” 💀😂 that part always makes me laugh in any adaptation/version of the story, I won’t lie

So basically no time has passed in the real world while they’ve been in Neverland? No Mr and Mrs Darling keeping the window open for when their children return???

“Boy… why are you crying?” - IM SHAKING, CRYING, SCREAMING, THROWING UP I HAVE CHILLS

You’re telling me Peter lived in the exact same house as Wendy as her brothers???? That’s why he kept returning to that house, not because Wendy believed strongly in him or he liked her stories but because it was his old home?? 😶

“I’m just a story, told to any child who’ll listen” - oof true. Kids today don’t really know Peter Pan anymore, which is super sad - they know Tink but they’re not as familiar with Peter Pan these days

“You know, Peter… after all this… I think that to grow up… why, it might just be the biggest adventure of all. Just think of all of the things that could be right around the corner that you’re missing out on. Think of what the world is missing out on with you not being there to do them.” 👏👏👏

So, overall… it’s not the worst Disney remake. It’s truly not that bad, at least not enough to warrant racist morons bombing it with one star reviews. It’s definitely not a patch on the 2003 version, at least not in my opinion - that one will always reign superior, at least to me.

Some things:

I definitely feel like this film was carried by Ever Anderson as Wendy, she literally did the most and seemed the most well suited for her part overall

Jude Law was actually better than I thought he would be as Hook, Jason Isaacs is still my favourite but Jude is alright

I think Alexander Molony had the right spirit, I just think that he wasn’t given all that much to do and also it was very noticeable that he was on the cusp of adulthood already. Had the film been filmed when intended and not delayed, I think his performance would have come across better

The other kids and the pirates were super fun too, but not really given a lot to do either, which is sad. Would have loved to see more of Jim Gaffigan as Smee though

Yara Shahidi as Tinkerbell and Alyssa Wapanatahk as Tiger Lily were also amazing and big standouts, shoutout to them both!

Mentioned this above but will mention it again: I don’t understand what the point of casting a separate actor to play Mr Darling was. Yes, as I mentioned, there’s the dual casting thing - but also Mr Darling was in this film so little that there was zero sense in hiring a whole other actor to do the part??? He’s literally got a total of like one and a half minutes screentime?!?

Putting the crocodile in just the one single time was a fucking crime, I tell you! Why was he only in one single scene?!? 🐊

The CGI wasn’t the worst I’ve seen but it definitely could have been a bit better

Here’s the thing: the original animation was 1h21 and this one is 1h46… and yet this one felt way more rushed for some reason? It’s like the film hits the basic plots, like ticking them off, but doesn’t actually embellish or explore them properly. It’s just so rushed and the film suffers for it

I truly think this film would have benefited from letting us get to know the Darling children even better at the beginning before Peter arrived, because the most developed of the three is Wendy and all we know about her is she’s going to boarding school and her parents want her to be a better role model/set a better example for her brothers. All we know about John and Michael is that they’re Wendy’s brothers and they like to play fight - they don’t really feel like proper characters, they’re literally just there

I’m still waiting for a Peter Pan adaptation to just bite the bullet and give us that flash forward of Peter visiting an older Wendy, meeting Jane and taking Jane to Neverland - the 2003 version did film it but it’s deleted and the special effects aren’t done on it (you can watch it online but still)

I want to know where in Barrie’s text it says Wendy wanted to become an airplane pilot or that she actually fulfilled that ambition… ?!?!

The soundtrack was good - not the masterpiece that James Newton Howard’s is but still pretty good

Overall, I’d give it a 6/10 maybe. It wasn’t the worst Pan movie or adaptation out there but it’s not the best either, at least in my opinion. It IS one of the better Disney remakes though, and if it had been a bit longer and had a better budget then I’d say it should have had a theatrical release because the cinematography is STUNNING. It’s just that it very much feels like they rushed the story and had a smaller budget than hoped for.

If Only...

Itachi x Tsunade’s Daughter! Reader

Okay guys. Hear me out! Just imagine Tsunade has a daughter while she's gone from the village. She and Shizune taught her medical ninjutsu while the reader grew up. This allowed her to master Tsunade’s teaching by the time she was like 15. The reader and Tsunade separate and the reader travels around helping shinobi and civilians alike. That’s how she meets Itachi and Kisame.

This is gonna have slightly suggested themes, but do not plan on going into detail. There will be canon violence and swearing.

Update: if this reaches 30 notes, I will do a part two!!

Tsunade still loves Dan and he will always be her only love. But one night she gets a little too drunk and the guy she hooks up with looks a little too much like Dan. Literally Tsunade and shizune leave that village the next day

Tsunade finds out that she’s pregnant on the road. It was quite a shock to both her and Shizune, but she decides to carry out her pregnancy because everything happens for a reason

As soon as you are born, she realizes that had 3rd love. The first being her little brother, Nawaki, and Dan. Shizune and Tsunade raise you together while you move from village to village.

Tsunade was very reluctant in teaching you ninjutsu and the shinobi way entirely because she couldn’t lose her daughter. She decided that teaching you would be good for self-defense and thus she began to teach you the basic of chakra

“Come on, Ma! Pweaaseeee. I wanna be a ninja!!!!”

Now 5 years later at age 13, you are helping Shizune in surgeries and doing minor surgeries and medical treatments with supervision by yourself. Since then you have decided that you wanted to travel and help people.

The three of you stopped at this tiny village and stayed for about 2 years (which has been the longest place you have stayed), before the village became susceptible to a plague that was going on in this part of the land. Tsunade wanted to leave, but you told her that you would stay to help the village. She tried to argue with you saying no and say that you were too young, but the determined look in your eyes that reminded her a little too much of her younger brother made her say yes. After a teary good-bye to Shizune and Tsunade, they left while you stayed and treated the villagers.

At about this time the Uchiha Massacre had already happened and Itachi had joined the Akatsuki. Kisame and Itachi were in the area for a mission. At this point Itachi’s eyesight had started to get worse, but it was very minor and nothing serious.

There was rumor they heard about this “priestess” who could heal anyone. And so they go to the village to find this so-called priestess to find a feisty 15-year old girl lecturing this 40 year-old man on the importance of taking the medicine she made.

Kisame laughs at this because this girl was no older than Itachi at the time and could no way be that good. Originally, Itachi just wanted to check on the rumor because he had heard Pain thinking about recruiting a medic for the Organization. But deciding to see if she could help him

She looked up at him and gave him the sweetest smile and gestured to him to follow her to her small cottage outside of the village. Once they arrive, you tell him to sit down and tell her what he needs to be healed. Kisame ofc makes himself a home on her couch while looking over the house. Itachi mentions the slight blindness in his eyes.

The green glow of your right hover over his eyes to help decide what is actually wrong. You tell him how you can only cure this blindness temporarily and begin to heal his eyes. Once the eyes are healed you tell him how he should come visit when it starts to get worse again but be warned that the more you heal him the less effective it becomes.

He goes to hand you money and you stop him. Ofc he likes “what” you literally brought strangers into your home and willingly healed them without asking for anything. You shrugged your shoulders and said that you will always help some no questions asked and free of charge. So they leave but Itachi still feels somewhat bad about it and secretly leaves you about a hundred ryo in your mailbox. When you find it you sigh, shaking your head lightly with a soft smile.

That’s how you meet itachi. This next time you see him is about 8 months after the first visit. This time he’s alone and you usher him into your cottage and into your designated medical exam room. You begin to heal his eyes and have small talk such as “how is your day” and things like that.

About a week after his visit, you decide to leave the village and travel around the land to help war-stricken villages.

So when he visits you again another 5 months later and you are not there he was so confused. He was concerned because he thought someone kidnapped you or killed you and all these other options. But he began to ask villagers where they were.

“Oh (Y/N), they left the village after the plague. I’m not sure where she went though.”

He continued to dig around until he was able to find you again heading toward the Land of Rain to help the war-stricken citizens. He had a new direction to head in.

You totally ran into Jiraya a couple times during your travels and when you recognized him as one of the Legendary Sannins. You instantly asked if he knew your mother. He was shocked when he found out that his long-time crush had a daughter, but he would you stories about her and you would stare at him in awe

For some reason every village you stopped in, Itachi always found you and soon those small talks turned into things being said in confidence and becoming much closer than acquaintances. You soon made him special eyedrops to use to help reduce the symptoms in his eyes.

You have been treating him for almost two years before he tells you the truth about the Uchiha Massacre. He normally wouldn't tell you at all, but you had this reassuring aura that allowed him to open up. After the story, you brought him to your chest and cried for him because it must have been so difficult for him.

The both of you share this mutual bond of being each other’s confidence, but the next you see him is another couple months and it's kisame. He was carrying Itachi on his back, who had been injured pretty severely. It is very uncommon for a ninja to even get that chance to touch Itachi, let alone injure him to this extent.

You instantly usher him in and have kisame set him down on the operating table. You get to work, but your nerves are getting the better of you and the thought of him dying was in the foremost part of your mind

You save him ofc but when he wakes up you hug him and kiss him. That kiss portrayed every feeling you had for him. The fear of him dying, the relief that he was alive, the exhaustion of the 4 hours of healing you did. Itachi is shook, he doesn’t even think you deserve him. WHen you pull back you blush and apologize and go to walk away until he grabs your wrist and pulls you in for another kiss

Kisame is just there and kinda walks out of the room to give you both privacy but will totally tease Itachi when he has the chance. But either since than you and Itachi had this mutual understanding of each feeling’s

You then make a name for yourself in the Land of Rain, that catches the eye of Pain, who now wants to recruit you to the Akatsuki as their personal medic. At the Akatsuki meeting when your name is brought up about having you recruited. Itachi can help but be shocked and ofc Kisame opens his mouth

“Isn’t that the name of your little girlfriend, Itachi?”

Ofc itachi glares at his partner because the organization wasnt supposed to know about you. Pain wanted him to recruit you, but uncharacteristically he tells Pain that he wasn’t going to. AND that shocked everyone. Pain says that he will go and that both Itachi and Kisame will join him.

You had just finished healing this band of merchants who had been attacked when you heard an unknown person at your temporary home. You open the door to see Pain staring down at you, but you recognize the robe and welcome him in. You saw both Kisame and Itachi behind him and ofc that causes a big smile on your face because you haven’t seen Itachi for a while.

You tell them to sit on the couch, while you finish your work. You were about to offer tea, when you heard a scream coming from your medical room. You offer an apologetic smile and tell Itachi to grab the tea. He nods and moves to your kitchen and to rush off to continue treating the merchants.

After that, Pain tells you that he wants you to join the Akatsuki and help pave the way to everlasting peace and all that. You simply tell him no and he is not surprised, but shocked at how quickly you shot him down. He didn't even finish his speech.

“Yea… No thanks Mister. I don;t really like what you guys do because often the people who know on my door are victims of your doing”

But you do say that if any member showed up at your door you would take them in. You also made your own rules such as that you want them to find you a more permanent place in the Land of Rain and would like some sort of compensation because it is very difficult to find medicinal herbs in the Land of rain. Pain agrees and a month later you move into your new place that has more than one medical room and is big enough to fit at least 5 people in.

Timeskip about one more year and you have traveled back into the Land Of Fire and heard a rumor that your mother had become Hokage. You ofc have to see this for yourself. You arrive after the Sasuke retrieval Mission so this village was still slightly destroyed from Konoha Crush

When you arrive at the village, you stare at it in awe because your mother told stories about Konoha, but you never saw it in person. It wasn’t until you were suddenly surrounded by Anbu Black Ops telling you to state their purpose. You tell them you are here to visit the Hokage

At first they were wary because the village had just been destroyed and you took note of this by saying that you are here to help with the injured and wanted permission. With that they lead you to the Hokage’s office and knock on the door.

The door opens and to reveal your mother, Shizune, a blond kid, a pink-haired girl, a kid you literally looked like he was falling asleep standing up, and a tall silver haired man. Anbu apologizes to her and tells her about you.

“It’s been too long Mother”

She instantly gets up and engulfs you in this big hug bringing your head to her chest. You hug her back with the same intensity. You stay like that for quite a while until the blind kid speaks up

“Who the hell are you? And why was Granny Tsunade hugging you?”

You pull away and look at him and notice the necklace hanging around his neck. You looked up to your mom and smiled down at you. She apologizes to the people in the room

You chuckled at that and stated that I was her daughter. They were all in shock at that. You tell her how you heard a rumor that she had become Hokage and needed to check it out. And that now it was true that you could leave. SHe begs you to stay for a bit and you do. That’s when Jiraya walks into the room and you greet him. Jiraya actually knew about you and Itachi cuz after all

After all that, he asks Tsunade to talk to her in private with me about something. You had a feeling that it was about because after all, a couple months prior, your “boyfriend” tried to kidnapped Naruto

Once in private, Jiraya rips the bandaid and goes how long have you been working with the Akatsuki?'' Your mother is shocked at this and you sighed and state that you don't “work” with them. That you are a traveling medic, so it wasn't uncommon to come across the Akatsuki. You also give him a look that says people don't say anymore about it.

Jiraya then turns to Tsunade and says that you can't stay in the village because of that connection and if people find out about your connection to the organization then her days of being Hokage are over. She sighs because what he said wasn't wrong but it hurts to just leave her daughter again. She goes “we just have to make sure they don't find out.” You instinctively hold the Akatsuki ring in your hand that Itachi gave you so he always knew where you were when you needed him. You brought up the fact that you could live outside the village

Withthat, you now have your own cottage near the Nara Forest that you live with so Itachi can still visit you. And on his next visit, he stays longer than a night and gives you his mother’s engagement ring. He said he wanted you to keep it, because he knew his death was itching closer and closer. And even though this happiness is fleeting, he decides to do whatever he can to keep it.

The night he gives you the engagement ring, you slip it on your finger and give him a deep kiss, one that continues into your own sheets. That night is filled with soft whispers of “i love you” to “i missed you” and kisses. The next morning you can help but look at the man next to you and kiss his cheek. You two talk about your future and how it would be.

“If this was a different world, a different timeline, I would make you an Uchiha”

The perspective of Makoami as parents is still something I absolutely adore, so that leads me to ask. What kind of mother do you think Ami would be when paired with Mako?

Who's the 'fun' mom? Who's the mom Miki would be more likely to show a failed grade? Or the mom who would reinforce more etiquette? Or watch a TV show with him?

I'd just love to hear more about them, you don't have to answer those questions to a tea.

I think Ami and Makoto have a really good balance as parents. Makoto takes the stricter role, but just because I think she'd choose to be a stay-at-home parent so she's with him the most. Plus, she's going to wind up with a 7-year-old, a toddler, and an infant. She needs a schedule and some order just to keep her sanity! 🤣 But where Makoto teaches Miki how to bake or tend a garden, Ami teaches him why it works like that. Makoto teaches him to block when he takes a swing, Ami teaches him the physics behind the moves. Makoto keeps the homework schedule, but Ami helps answer the hard questions. Ami may even bring in the whiteboard (one for each kid as they get old enough to write) so they can leave messages for each other like she did with her mom.

Ami is definitely the more lenient parent in this scenario. I think it would come partly from her feeling some guilt for being away so much with work, and partly from her never wanting Miki to feel like the odd child out after the other two (who are biologically related to Ami and look A LOT like her mom's side of the family) come along. So when Makoto is making him eat all his vegetables, Ami is secretly passing him pieces of chocolate under the table. Ami probably also has a really hard time letting the timer run when he's in time-out. Miki's eyes may be blue, but he looks like a tiny Makoto and when he pouts at her... he just has her totally wrapped around his pinky finger. Makoto teases her about this. LOL. In Miki's early years, reading time is probably Ami's textbooks. But when he gets a little older, she's going to teach him the absolute joy of reading a novel in a bubble bath. They go used book shopping together so if he drops them in the water, he doesn't feel as bad about it.

Makoto isn't all rules and vegetables, though! She's always going to be a bit nervous when she doesn't have her eyes on Miki, but she isn't a helicopter parent. She teaches him to be independent while watching from just enough distance that she can easily intervene. She makes sure the kids wash their feet and stick to bedtime, but she also gets down on the floor and pretends to be the monster so they can play Sailor Senshi in the costumes she made for them. When Miki asks how his baby brother got there, Makoto happily hands him off to Ami so she can pull out "the book" and stumble 😳 through the biology lessons. But the second he turns 13, Makoto pulls out the box of condoms and the cucumber for the practical lessons, because while she will NEVER use the word mistake where Miki is concerned, she wants him to be better prepared than she was.

But don't forget the others! There's a bit of communal raising of children going on here. Miki wants to know how to talk to a girl? He contemplates Uncle Haruka but quickly realizes Aunt Minako is the best source. First time he's embarrassed by a bad grade? Aunt Usagi, because she makes him feel better and then drags him home to Ami and just lays it out like it's no big deal. Not like that one time Usagi got a 22 on her math test, and if Ami could help her fix that enough to pass entrance exams, she can fix Miki's 63 no problem! He wants to go to the anime convention with his friends? Go see Aunt Rei for the latest fandom cosplay trends! She'll hook him and his friends up with the best group cosplay ideas and make sure they have exactly what they need for autographs.

i am 23 years old (but on some december afternoons, i am 17)

i am stopping on the sidewalk by the gas station in my hometown (so my high school sweetheart can tie my shoes)

i am singing with my friends in the car to bands that don’t play shows anymore (we haven’t driven together in years)

but two weeks ago i was in senior year english class

and two weeks before that i was running on the field with the energy you only have at 13

two weeks before that i was selling girl scout cookies

but two weeks later…

i am putting on a sweater for work (after all, i am the manager now)

two weeks from now, i’ll cradle my first born daughter

two months ago, i was trying to crawl out of my own crib

i am pounding on the door with tiny fists (so my older brother and his friends would let me in)

that door is someone else’s now (my brother is a father of three)

i am not a mother yet, i am 17

i am 23

but every week was a different girl

every year i’ve lived was a different soul

i look at my boss, i look at my mother (they are both far wiser than i am)

they look at me and see a fresh slate (how can that be when so many lifetimes have passed?)

i don’t know what living is yet

i am too young to know

THE BRUCANDY FAMILY!!! Featuring @kalopsic-lagomorph 's designs for their kids!! They're all named and designed after various cocktails, which I think is just fuckin amazing!! I really hope I did them justice (excuse how you can still see the sketch lines). Thank you so much for letting me draw them I had to much fun with it!! (I'll link the original post down below)

I tried to make them look a bit older here, like adults. Since they're half Troll, I think it'd be funny if they only got to about half the height of a Puppet.

Okay story time lol!

We all know Bruce's story. He finds his way to Vacay Island after the Brozone breakup, meets Brandy, and gets married. I think all 13 of the kids are the same age, meaning this man popped out 13 fuckin eggs at once (they were too big to nest in his hair so he and Brandy cared for them like normal eggs).

Well, cut to several years later after the Brozone reunion. When Bruce's brothers start to get married and have kids of their own, Bruce and Brandy get a serious case of the baby fever. So they figure, they already have 13 kids, what's one more?

Only this time, the baby is Troll sized. It came as a shock to them both, since the rest of their kids were more Puppet-sized. And when little Peaches hatched, Bruce went full mamabear mode cause oh my god his baby is miniscule compared to everything around them time to baby-proof EVERYTHING-

Cut him some slack he's not used to Troll sized kids bjdjdnh

When Peaches grows up, she eventually moves to Trollstopia to live with her cousin, Fern. Lotas tears from Papa Bruce and Mama Brandy, but having watched their older kids move out, get married, even some having kids of their own, it did make things a bit easier to handle.

ok so i have my own little canon of the whole batman timeline that ill… probably make a dif post about cause.. boy is it a lot. i know the basics timeline of how everything came to be but since I dont know all of it, i hc’d and filled in some gaps! (im SO able to adjust to real canon- i wont be a lil whiner if anything i made up doesnt fit or make sense. FEEL FREE TO EDUCATE ME… nicely.)

ALRIGHT soOO the reason I say all that is bc i feel like at one point, BABY Jay and Dick became close. I KNOOOOW I KNOW in the comics they had NNNOTHING to do with each other.. but like. imagine how cute???

so one day, Dick comes over to the manor with the intention of scooping his baby brother up. Maybe they were planning on getting a bite to eat somewhere. But then, Dick kinda springs on the idea of Jason maybe coming over to meet the titans! and at this point, I think hes with Cyborgggg, Starfiiireeee… Raven, BB.. YOU KNOW WHO THEY ARE. anyway. So Jay, oF COURSE, agrees because??? meeting Dicks team??? thats the coolest thing ever?? SO they grab their food then head over to the tower and on that day… Roy decided to show up…

now PAUSE. I know this is wack aging.. bbbut I put a lot of time and brain energy into making sure this makes sense. in current day. dick is 22 and jason is 19 (i think this is WFA logic but…) so back then.. jason was like roughly 13 making Dick 16ish?? so ROY being a bit older than both of them, would be aaabbbooout imma saaay 18? ok cool ya lets go with that.

resume. jason sees roy and is all woh!! awooga!! who is this handsome stud!!!??? and roy OBVIOUSLY doesn’t entertain this tiny baby puppy crush because?? thats a child. LMAO. Roy shows ZERO interest back. i need that to be VERY VVVERRRY clear. NONE. NO INTEREST. Dick sees this and teases Jason- which Jason protests that he doesn’t like roy like that cus ew!!! liking someone!!?? gross!!!

fast forward to like- Jason coming baaack, settling in as himself and red hood.. yknow. he already has done some team-ups with the bats,, eventually he has to do one with Arsenal.

this is the first time they’ve interacted since Jays been back. Roy’s got word of Red Hood- Jason Todd, being alive and… kinda well. at first Hood was scary, intimidating, rough and kinda mean? but once they got into that hotel room they had to have because they were outta town, he got to see Jason all soft and not as scary. and truthfully? He liked it a lot. He found more and more reasons to spend time with Jay.. have team ups and missions..

then, outlaws happened and those two were together almost 24/7. They were kicking ass- and this opportunity lead to them getting to actually know each other a loooot better. Roy found himself swooning. Jason was witty, charming and so funny.. not to mention how HANDSOME he was. he felt dumb. this was dicks little brother,, he couldn’t like him? thats weird right? though.. Jay was an adult who can make his own adult decisions on if he wanted to date Roy or not… and truthfully, Jay seemed a to still be a little into him... So, jokingly, one night- the two were doing their annual playful banter and in the middle Roy decided to pull that, “You wanna kiss me so bad.” card and. Yea. Maybe they DID end up making out… and lead to more… (kori was out dw, she didn’t witness this)

from there, Roys little feelings kept growing.. and even Jasons. Jay was completely head over heels. He felt like a moron- as if his puppy crush from years prior was clawing its way back…. but every meet up, every hotel room- every trope where there was one bed… every ki..kiss.. every.. naked cuddle-

LORD!!! What were they DOING. Even if it hurt to think this, Jay assumed they were just fuck buddies. He didn’t think Roy even liked him any other way.. but HOOOO did Roy want something more. and eventually, he brought it up. he asked what they were.. jason was like YOU TELL ME??? but then they had a serious talk and by the end of it? they were boyfriends EEEE!!!

then… the domestication began… but thats for another time UH WINK.

KIRBY'S DREAMLAND 3 ON THE SUPER NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM!!!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAY IM SO STOKED ABT THIS DRAWING SERIES (it is going to take me a million years to finish and be much longer than KDL2 just a warning LOL)!!!! KDL3 is one of my favorite Kirby games, I played it all the time as a kid! Tbf a lot of Kirby games are my favorite. But this is probably my favorite OLD Kirby game! It's missing a lot of modern Kirby conventions, but I still love it so much, it's so cozy and warm.

In my gijinka AU timeline it's set about a year after Star Stacker, so Kirby is now 13. I dunno if I set ages for the original Animal Friends ngl. I think Coo's in his early 50's, Kine's in his early 40's, and Rick's in his mid 20's. ALSO I finally found out what the nonbinary equivalent to nephew/niece is!! It's nibling!! Kirby is Rick, Coo, and Kine's honorary nibling!

I will get into Acro and Ado's context in this gijinka universe during their respective boss encounters, but for now I CAN tell you about the new generation of Animal Friends! I described them on instagram as "extended found family"-- they're loosely connected to the original 3 Animal Friends in the sense that they know them well, but they're brought closer together through knowing Kirby!

Nago is from the Iceberg and knows Rick well because he often visits the Iceberg to improve his climbing skills. I imagine that he and Kirby might 'click' because Nago is trans and Kirby is nonbinary? Nago's a teenager/young adult, but is the oldest of the 3 new Animal Friends. He's a werecat and can turn into a giant calico cat whenever he feels like it! So I guess he and Rick probably would be friends since they're very alike?

Chuchu is from Ripple Field, so she and Kine have met before! Kine has told her many stories about his adventures as a Dark Matter hunter on the surface world, though Chuchu finds herself most interested in his friend Kirby! She thinks Kirby is cute and wants to date him. Kirby has never dated anyone in his entire life and has no idea what romance is like! Chuchu is a flapjack octopus mermaid with mild transformation abilities-- she doesn't have a fully human form like Kine does and is instead half human half octopus in her default form, but fully octopus while transformed. Chuchu is a year older than Kirby.

Pitch is a harpy like Coo, but he's just a lost baby essentially. He's only 4 years old! For now Coo is looking after him since there aren't many other harpies in Dreamland (much less any who'd want to care for Pitch) but they both really want to find Pitch's mother. Pitch sees Kirby as an older brother and likes to shadow him. Unlike Coo, Pitch shrinks when he transforms and turns into a tiny bird you can fit in the palm of your hand! I think he is a shima enaga specifically. A colorful one I guess. They can't be green irl lol.

ALSO I decided to reveal Zero extra early because honestly I don't like that they're just, at the end of the game only! And I like their design a lot. I've drawn them before. I think they deserve a bit more limelight! So I drew them in 2 panels here.

Chapter 1 - A New Beginning

Author’s Note: Author’s Note: This is my first full fic that I am writing so I know there will be grammar errors. Also, this may be a slow start but the story will progress. This is an alternate universe where there is no outbreak, and it also takes place in the game timeline in 2013. Let me know what you guys think, and I hope you guys enjoy it.

Warmth. It's what Y/N felt as she drove down the almost quiet street to reach her final destination. After the almost 17 hour drive from Chicago, she was finally arriving at what she hoped would be her forever home. She sure would miss her time back in the city, but tranquility is what she needed now. The events of the past two years were enough for her to settle down in the quaint suburbs of Austin, Tx. One thing she would definitely need to get used to was the Texas heat. She thought summer days in Chicago were bad enough, but not like Texas. Even with the window rolled down, she still felt like it wasn't enough to cool down. Hopefully by sundown most of the heat would be gone. She recalled her conversation with her brother at their last rest stop, "You'll get used to the heat. The good thing is the house has central air for you but make sure to keep the windows and doors closed throughout the day. That can sometimes help. At night the cool breeze in front the window open is nice. But that's the least of your worries." And he was right, that was the least of her worries. Her move was pretty much a result of packing everything from her tiny apartment and starting fresh in a whole new city thanks to her ex-fiance that is. She had hoped that with this fresh start, she could leave that chapter and move on. The downside is she has to give up her job, her friends, and practically everything she knows and move for her own safety. No one knew where she had gone except her best friend, who she knew would not say anything. Y/n were born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago but moved to the city for university. It wasn't something her parents were fond of at first. Their goal was for her to become a doctor or lawyer to make good money, but over time they warmed up to the idea of her choice in career. She met her ex-fiance in university in her sophomore year. He won over her parents really quickly and soon after graduating, he proposed. Also right after graduating she was offered a position in a marketing company which allowed her to stay in the city. Y/n felt like her life was perfect. She had everything she possibly could have wanted and even till this day she questioned where it all went wrong. When things started to hit the fan.

Her thoughts were interrupted by her little passenger getting excited about finally arriving at her destination. At the last rest stop her niece, Emily, begged her dad to let her ride with y/n. Y/n loved having her in the car and she kept her company during the last couple of hours to her new home. Her older brother, Manny, was the first to arrive with the moving van while y/n drove in her car with the remainder of her more personal items. Emily bounced in her seat and anticipated to get out. Once y/n pulled in her driveway Emily bolted from her seat and greeted her mother, Kelly, who was waiting to give y/n the keys to her new home. Once out of the car, y/n walked over to Kelly and gave her a big hug. "Hola Kelly!" She giggled and responded with a thick Texas accent, "Hola Y/N! Bienvenidos a Texas. You know I've been getting better at my Spanish. Now that you guys are here I can definitely practice more." "I don't see why it took Manny this long to teach you. You guys have been married for 13 years." "Hey! Stop talking about me and let's get this stuff out." Her brother retorted. They pulled apart and y/n took the keys from Kelly, who led them inside the home. It was a cute little two story bungalow that was perfect for you. The living room was connected with an open kitchen concept kitchen and a small dining area. The stairs led up to a two bedroom and one bathroom. Y/n stood in the middle of what would be the living room and let out a big sigh. Both Many and Kelly had done so much for her to help her get to Texas, and words could not express how grateful and appreciative she was.

After the movers arrived, the process of unloading the truck and y/n’s car went a lot quicker, so much so that by almost mid afternoon they were practically done. The help was much needed after the long drive. Once everything was unloaded, Manny and Kelly left to return the moving truck and pick up something to eat while y/n stayed with Emily. They decided to take a break and sit on the front porch steps to take a look at her new neighborhood. Y/n’s thoughts were interrupted by Emily speaking up, "Oh Tia I forgot to tell you my best friend lives across the street at the house right there!" "Is this the one you play soccer with that you told me about in the car?" "Yes!" It was almost as if on cue, a car pulled into the driveway and a man came out with a young girl trailing behind him. "Sarah!" Y/n jumped, a bit startled by her niece's outburst as she waved at her friend. The young girl turned around and waved back. She spoke to her dad real quick, who then nodded and followed behind her as they walked over to them. "Hi Emily! When did you get back?" "This morning. We did a lot of driving but we got to see a lot! I got you something from Chicago. Let me go get it." With that she ran inside and left y/n alone to meet her new neighbors. "Hi I'm Y/N. I'm Emily's aunt." She extended her hand to the handsome man in front of her who took it with a small smile. "Joel. Joel Miller. And this is my daughter Sarah." "Hi." Sarah added with a soft smile. Before y/n could respond, Emily bolted out. "I got you a key charm from Chicago." "Chicago? That's a long way to Texas." Joel spoke. "My family made the move and I tagged along." Before Y/N could continue, her brother and Kelly pulled up. "Hey Joel!" They greeted each other and made small talk while the girls caught each other up. "Well neighbor..." "Y/N...you can call me y/n.." "Well y/n it was nice meeting you. We will let you guys have dinner. We will see you soon. Let us know if you need help with anything." "Thank you Joel. Bye Sarah." " Bye y/n. It was nice meeting you." Y/n watched as they walked towards their house and smiled. Maybe Texas won't be so bad after all, y/n spoke to herself as she walked inside herself.

Once inside, they settled around the kitchen island and began to eat when Emily spoke up, "Tia I am gonna be over all, the time now that I know Sarah lives across the street." "I would love that but first you gotta ask your dad" y/n responded. "Mija you can't just invite yourself and you do have to ask for permission." "Okay papa. Is it ok that I come over to Tia y/n's house?" "If it's okay with her it's okay with me." He responded. "I don't see why not. Besides I do have a little free time to get settled in before I start working. So if you guys need help picking her up from school and watching her, I'm more than happy to help. It's the least I can do." "Y/N we told you that you don't owe us anything." Kelly responded. "We just want to make sure you're happy and safe. You're family and we take care of each other." "I know but.." "ah ah no buts." "Well at least accept my thank you." "We do. Now let's enjoy our lunch so we can wrap up today." Manny finished. With that, easy conversation flowed as they ate lunch.

Later on that evening, y/n was wrapping up the kitchen and putting away most of her stuff. By now, Manny and his family had left with a promise from Kelly that she would be back tomorrow to help her with the rest of the house. A lot was done for the day, with mainly the first floor being done. Before calling it a night, she gathered all the trash she could and stepped out into the brisk night. Once done she let out a heavy sigh and stood with her arms crossed as she observed the quiet neighborhood. A soft strum caught her attention from across the street where she noticed her neighbor Joel sitting on his porch with a guitar in hands. For a long and tiring day, she was happy at how well it went. Tomorrow would be a new day, her new life was starting, and it would be something she would look forward to.

uncommon (?) hc time. upon rewatching some of the og series and reboot ive become fairly certain that the warners (even the youngest) are, in fact, inteded to be teens. in this bulleted list i will

when i was younger i used to think 'huh these kids act weird for their age sometimes. its like theyre not even really little kids.' as much as i coo over their cute shenanigans, i can't really see them as anything 12 or under?

the warners are all at least teens. here's why

their ages are never actually explicity stated in canon

their heights are pretty much meaningless. the tiny toons cast are meant to be teens yet are often half or even a third the size of bugs bunny. he's also small for the record, like many other adult toons

playing child or childish roles on the in-universe show is similarly meaningless. older kids/teens are easier to direct than younger ones (though the warners are difficult at times lol)

they constantly break character and the fourth wall in ways that betray older sensibilities, taste, and knowledge

having pitched-up voices isn't an age-specific thing for toons

in the reboot their voices aren't even pitch-shifted, making them sound older

the teen-level potty humor and dirty jokes (do you remember being 13? i do. if you think some of the innuendos in animaniacs are bad, i can guarantee you real middle schoolers were/are far worse)

wakko drinking grog. his 'liquorice' [liquor-ish] problem. also stating he'd 'try anything once' (bet he enjoyed woodstock lol)

i think people mistake wakko's wackiness and earnesty for stupidity and youthful ignorance. fanon really flattens him to just being 'the dumb cute puppy' sometimes

i don't think a case really needs to be made for yakko. he's the archetypal teenage boy character in many ways

dot is just as bad as her brothers LMAO

personally, i dont care what tom said in that podcast episode. i relistened to the part where he claims they're '9, 11, 14' or whatever and it sounded like he threw those numbers out on the spot LOL. the actual show gives an entirely different impression imo

not to mention its boring always being beholden to word of god

[as a sidenote, the hc that the warners are actually fully grown adults playing children is really fucking funny to me. imagine being a dwarf toon, sounding like chip and dale's chipmunk voices, and you run around the rest of your immortality getting away with murder because everything thinks you're a cute kid. like baby from WFRR but rubberhose. big 'woman who played a 9-year old in orphan first kill' energy too]

in the end it doesnt matter a ton to me? im still gonna play around with their ages in fic like always. this new teen hc mostly informed how i see wakko and dot now, because they start making a lot more sense in my head

ive also started taking a liking to the 'wakko and dot are twins' headcanon but that's for another post

Bob and Phoenix’s first dates till Bob grows a pair and asks her to be his girlfriend.

(Some of them are long because I got really into writing them.)

Bob and Phoenix went to the beach on their first date. They had a picnic and watched the sunset. Bob walked her back to her front door as they held hands. As they got to her door she could see how nervous he was because they both knew what was gonna happen. “A little nervous bob-bob?” She asked as she smirked using the name she called him when she first met him in the hard deck three months ago. “No.” He said voice cracking slightly. His eyes widened as it happened as she giggled. Finally she put him out of his misery pulling him in by his belt loops and kissing him softly. Pulling away after a few seconds saying a soft goodbye and entering her apartment. She leant against the door as it closed blushing as she thought about how soft Bobs lips were.

On their second date they went to dinner and ice skating. (Natasha feel a lot but Bob always caught her.) She blushed like a mad women when he made it a point to open every door for her and walk closest to the street when they walked to the indoor ice rink. She had only dated California douche bags so she wasn’t used to this. They shared a couple of short kisses as they skated. Once again Bob walked her to her door. He was still nervous but not as much as last time, he also took some control of the kiss pulling her in by the hips. As they pulled apart he placed a gentle kiss on her cheek and watched as she entered her apartment once again.

Their third date was a hike. It was Natasha’s idea. She loved hiking and thought that Bob would have a amazing time. Being on a trail always seemed to calm her down and help her open up although she had no real issue opening up around Bob. They had another picnic when they reached the top of trail. It was a tiny look out between some trees. You could see the whole town below. Once again they shared little kisses and Natasha talked about being the only girl out of 5 brothers on top of being the baby. And how everyone but her family told her she couldn’t be a pilot. She also opened up about a ex that had treated her horribly and that’s part of the reason she closes everyone out. Bob opened up about recently he learned that his grandfather had flown with maverick and Goose and how he had found all these pictures his grandparents had of the whole top gun class. (Also Bobs grandparents were teenage parents and so were Bobs parents and uncle and aunt. So that’s how the ages add up). He also talked about how his dad and uncle were back seaters and now his brother and cousin as well as himself have followed their footsteps as well as his sister and cousin who are pilots. He talked about his 13 year old brother that shared his birthday and how no matter how far away his family was his cousins and siblings would always be some of his best friends. They made their way down the mountain and just like the last two dates Bob walked Natasha to her door. This time slightly different however because as they reached her door Natasha pulled Bob into a passionate kiss. The kiss lead to her having her back to her door and Bob slowly running his tongue across her lips as they continued to kiss. As she went to open her door to let them inside to continue this Maverick came out of Roosters apartment. They quickly jumped apart blushing slightly at being caught by their captain. “Well hello you two.” Maverick smirked. “This is my buddy hotshot. He flew with me and Rooster’s dad.” He said as Hotshot waved his hand smirking. Natasha could tell immediately by the way all the color drained from Bobs face that this was his grandfather. They also looked similar. “Hi Rob.” The older man said smirk still on his face. “Hi grandpa.” Bob said greeting the older man and introducing him to his pilot. After he introductions were made Bob and Phoenix said a quick goodbye so Bob could take his grandpa and his things to his apartment both a little embarrassed. Bob quickly kissed her and followed after the older man.

Their fourth date was a stay at home one. They played Mario kart and ordered pizza. They played multiple rounds. They ended up tying only because Natasha toke his controller and ran around the couch as the continued to play. “Hey give it back you little jerk.” Bob said as he caught her around the waist but it was to late. Natasha did a victory dance before sitting down to calm down. After a little bit of gaming they started talking and Bob finally asked her to be his girlfriend. She of coursed said yes and tackled him back onto his couch and kissed him. As they pulled apart from their kiss she moved so that she was startling his hips. They had to wait two weeks to be able to plan this date because a bunch of admirals came to visit so they were jam packed with meetings, which meant they also got hardly anytime to see each other. All that energy from their last date against her apartment door had been boiling inside of them and right now it was boiling out of the young pilot and she didn’t even try to hold it back. She started kissing up Bobs neck sucking at his earlobe and whispering. “I’ve been waiting to get you alone for two weeks now. I hope you don’t have any other plans for the night.” As she finished she slowly worked her hands under his shirt. Scraping her nails at his abs. She sat up removing her shirt revealing a white lacy bra. Just as she was about to work his shirt up he flipped them over. “I don’t have any plans today or tomorrow. Also I hope you know when I get done with you your gonna be walking funny for a couple days.” He said as he kissed her neck hand sliding up her side towards her breast. She couldn’t help the whine that escaped her when he ran his thumb over her nipple threw her lace bra.

I've been drawing ever since a learned to hold a crayon in my tiny toddler hand, haha. We did a lot of arts and crafts when grandma babysat me, my older brother and oldest cousins. It was always my favorite thing.

What really got the ball rolling was when i saw Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin (Silver Fang/Hopeanuoli) at the age of 7 (my mom didn't know about all the blood, i just said it had talking dogs in it lol). I got obsessed and drew nothing but dogs, and i remember pausing the DVD, slapping a paper on my little box TV and tracing the outlines of whatever dog was on screen so i could make paper dolls (which i might still have somewhere).

I was maybe like 9-10 when i tried making digital art for the first time on the family computer, equipped with good ol' MS Paint and a mouse. I was still mainly drawing dogs, cats and made up creatures, but i did try drawing humans too. You know, those good ol' vampire anime girls with hands behind their backs, because who needs to draw hands when you can hide them, am i right.

Around the age of 11 or 12, me and my bestie discovered furries and that's when i got obsessed again. I just love anthro characters and that's mainly what i've been drawing for the past 11 or so years. Oh, and i was maybe 13 or so when i got my first drawing tablet and really started practicing digital art.

I've attempted to draw humans every now and then, but i was never too happy with how they turned out, so i focused on tailoring my style towards my beloved anthros and creatures.

Last year was when i started making and posting LU fanart (though i almost didn't, because ✨ anxiety ✨) and finally im starting to be happy with how my humans are turning out. I've improved so much in such a short time. It's weird to think that a little over a year ago i had no idea how to draw humans and now that's pretty much the only thing i've been drawing. Animals are still easier for me to draw, but at least it's not a huge struggle anymore, haha.

TLDR: holding a crayon in my toddler hand -> started drawing dogs -> became a furry artist -> finally started to figure out how to draw humans at the age of 22

Hi hello can I request a rant about ikeshot 👀 Anything you want like headcanons and stuff I'm begging pls I'm so starved for ikeshot content you're literally the only person here talking about them

Ikeshot. Let’s talk abt them.

Since you didn’t really specify what topic you want me to go over abt them i’ll just give you my general thoughts in regards to them and just specific general details i like to consistently characterize them when thinking of au’s and such.

Firstly abt Hotshot. He’s Korean-American in my opinion. There wasn’t really any specific actor that inspired this hc (not even the korean newsies cast, i don’t really know that cast that well) but i feel it fits him perfectly. He was born in Korea to Korean parents and then moved to the states for both canon and modern era (i hv no clue if there were any Korean immigrants in New York in the time where newsies take place and no i hv no interest in finding out whether that’s historically accurate<3). I like to think he’s the youngest. He has 12 older sisters. Idk it just feels fitting to me. His actual name is Park Ryung-Gu and i’m following the usual Korean naming rule so Park is his family name and his given name is Ryung-Gu (idk how to explain how to properly pronounce it other than like saying ‘young’ but with an R at the front followed by ‘goo’. Also i’m not very adversed with Korean naming and culture in general so there might be a few errors i make despite alr doing some light research. Srsly i ended up watching a kdrama compilation just to find out how to pronounce that name If anyone reading this can correct me then feel free to drop an ask).

Seeing that he had lived his majority of his childhood in the states, he’s considered the most fluent english speaker in his family. He likes helping his mother cook especially when she’s making kimchi. Man loves kimchi and can live off of eating that one single dish for his entire lifetime. He likes tiny hamsters but also big dogs. He actually likes a lot of k pop but can’t dance to save his life. Also one of his fav k pop boy band back when he was younger made him question his sexuality. His main sport is basketball but he come from swimming parents so it’s important that he knows how to swim well, thus he was able to reach the six foot mark by the time he reaches sophomore high school and ended up growing to 6’6. He’s good friends with Spot and Albert (i hc albert moving to Brooklyn at around age 10 before moving back to Manhattan for middle school so). He’s usually the more reserved calm and collected friend and dare I say the tired friend. Not to be confused as the mom friend bcs that’s Spot. Anyways. In some au’s Hotshot to me is a pharmacist or a beauty chemist. Whatever it is, he majored in a chemistry field for college bcs he’s best at chem class back in high school. It just clicks to him for some reason compared to other subjects like biology or economics.

Ok now for Ike. He’s younger than Mike by like 13 minites and Mike holds that over him bcs older brother duty™️. However Ike is taller than Mikd by like 1.5 inches which he holds over him bcs younger brother duty™️. Pretty sure it’s alr widely known that their names are Michael and Issac so yeah i stand by that fanon but i personally think their last name is Alvarez. In some au’s i hc them hving a little sister a year younger than them while other times i don’t. They are Cuban-American. Their parents along with their siblings are Cuban immigrants and gave birth to the twins in America. Ike is autistic while Mike is neurotypical. Throughout his childhood, Ike struggles a lot with sound and touch and regulating his emotions in general but he was mostly non verbal in his earlier years. The only other person he talked to back then was Mike up until like when he’s 8 or so was when he started getting better at his speech. Their mother in short isn’t the best person to be a mother. Safe to say it was for the best that their parents divorced when they were ten.

Ike was considerably the more reserved one between him and Mike but that doesn’t mean he’s not considered a troublemaker bcs in reality he still is. Despite still being able to joke around, he’s quite uptight. When he’s trying to regulate his anger he usually turns to boxing which is smth his father taught him back when he found out the twins were being bullied in elementary school. It serves as a great sport but also a great outlet to let out his anger. He’d punch a punching bag or ask Mike to spar with him. He’d dare to say that without boxing he might still not know how to regulate his anger in his adult years. However he’d say his main sport was soccer since that’s what he played in school teams. That does turn Ike to be a bit feisty, especially when he’s being disrespected. He doesn’t always go for the first punch, only as an act of self defense. Anyways, i hc him majoring in some sort of engineering field. Like he’d get a phd to research environmental engineering (renewable energy and all that stuff). He loves to learn actually and has an interest in technology + environment. He also loves cats. He has a brown cat named bear.

Now how did they ended up together you may ask? They met as a friend of a friend of a friend. Sorta. So while obtaining their bachelors degree, Ike has had bad luck with relationships. All the guys he’s ever liked are… terrible to say the least. He swears off dating until he gets his bachelors. Around his senior year, his good friend racetrack higgins just so happen to have a boyfriend from brooklyn named Spot who was also good friends with Race’s best friends and also Ike’s good friend named Albert. Spot and Albert also had a friend named Hotshot. One night when they were all going out to celebrate them nearly graduating, Ike and Hotshot met for the first time. Ike wld be lying if he said he didn’t find Hotshot to be attractive and Hotshot can’t deny he thought Ike was cute. However nothing happened and they only ever met every now and them in a big friend group setting. And ike was true to himself when he says he’ll put a hold on dating until he gets his bachelors (talk abt academic validation lolz definitely not self projecting here) in the middle of them obtaining their master’s degree, things start to escalate between them. They actually started seeing each other on their own and hv a fun time. When they finally gotten around to a confession (after being pushed by their friends to do it ofc) they started going out and took things slow to see where this was heading. As it turns out, they were a perfect match and ended up becoming more confident and srs with each other.

Hotshot and Ike are both reserved in their nature. Mostly calm and collected but can last in a fight if provoked. They’re not the most sociable person and it takes awhile for them to come out of their shell. So meeting and being comfortable with each other was great. Ike likes that despite the strength Hotshot displays, he is still kind and gentle to others. He’s very caring and sensitive. He gives Ike a sense of peace and security. He also gives the best hugs. Hotshot adores Ike for how careful he is at everything and how supportive he is. Ike is loyal and kinder than he lets himself believe. Ike always tries to better bcs he never really thought he was very great at displaying his affection when really Hotshot feels plenty loved by him. He loves how smart he is and how fun he can be when he’s comfortable but will also defend him till the end when he’s being wronged. He gives Hotshot a sense of comfort and warmth. He’s also feisty which is smth Hotshot finds to be quite cute in an affectionate way.

Of all things, I accidentally made myself ship Cora/Mihawk and King/Mihawk and @raging-barbarian got me started on a rambling tangent for a "Zoro raised in Wano by Mihawk and somehow King and Cora are both involved" AU (instead of working on, y'know, my 30+ wips).

(Please don't ask me how this started, I still have no idea.)

So Mihawk (~23) finds baby Zoro (~1) literally just wrapped in a blanket and floating out at sea in a basket. Mihawk recognizes like a pendant or something with a Wano family crest on it (land of the samurai - he knows his shit) so he takes Zoro back to Wano, only to find out that there's no one left to care for him.

(And maybe they found Toddler Perona (4-5) on the way to Wano and, well, he's already In For A Pound in finding homes for abandoned children)

This is young Mihawk, he's not just going to abandon a baby to the wild (he was an orphan too? Zoro is just that adorable and they bonded?) and maybe this is before Mihawk found Kuraigana so he's literally just living bounty poster to bounty poster (like Zoro was) so he decides to stay on Wano for the time being. It'll be time to learn more about the way of the samurai too, so bonus for someone who's going to become the World's Greatest Swordsman.

Since this is all like 20 years in the past so everything with Oden is recent or just happened, of course Kaido's right hand King (~26) is going to go investigate this outsider and potentially extremely dangerous person who just showed up at their border.

Does this end up being love at first sight? Who knows, but King sees Baby Zoro in Mihawk's arms and Toddler Perona clinging to his coat-jacket-thing and King thinks of 7-8yo Yamato (whom he is practically raising because Kaido is a shit dad) back at the castle and he. Can't do it.

It's still up for debate on how King convinces Kaido to let them stay but surely it would be a good idea to keep a Warlord close? to make sure that the World Government/Marines aren't finding out The Plans.

(I just realized that Mihawk might not have been a Warlord by his early 20s but shh.)

Something something skip forward a few years and Mihawk meets Cora at like a Warlord meeting, either when Cora is still a marine or undercover as Doffy's right hand.

Do Mihawk and Cora bond right then? who knows. Maybe while they're waiting for the stupid meeting to start, Mihawk just starts talking about His Kids because maybe Zoro stained the shirt Mihawk decided to wear that day and he Literally Didn't Notice until Cora pointed it out to him. And Cora just listening (pretending to be mute) to this Extremely Scary Warlord who got a Bounty That High without even having a crew and considered one of the Strongest Swordsmen in the world talking about his children (which now includes Yamato) like they're Everything to him.

Maybe Mihawk is the reason why Cora decides to go against his brother/go against the mission to save Law. His job as a marine means everything to him but if Mihawk teaches him anything, it's that sometimes you gotta put that Aside.

Grabbing Law and going on the hunt for the Ope Ope no Mi goes a lot smoother. Perhaps Cora knew about Vergo being in the Marines (as a result of going to Warlord meetings) and warned Law? Or Law found a different Marine to bring back to Cora while he was heavily injured. Or maybe, knowing about Cora's plans, Mihawk (30) was the one to find Law (13) and Cora (26) and bring them back to safety on Wano.

They're only there long enough for Cora to heal safely and for Law to recuperate from eating the Ope Ope no Mi and cure himself of Amber Lead Disease but you definitely know that Zoro (8) and Law (13) have tiny childhood crushes on each other (or maybe Law has like a huge hecking crush on Zoro if you want to be closer to canon) when they separate. They think it goes away over time but then they see each other when they're older and realize that it was more than a simple childhood crush.

Cora does go back to the Marines (long-distance pining for Mihawk who he gets to see at Warlord meetings and okay, maybe he misses King a bit) but Law still ends up as a pirate somehow, maybe going back to North Blue after finding out that Doflamingo and Kaido are working together on fake devil fruit.

Kaido starts becoming really abusive because Yamato is failing to meet his Extremely High Expectations and Mihawk is many things but he's not abusive and just lets him and Perona do whatever they want so it doesn't sit right with Zoro and he knows King can't do anything. So when Ace (17-18) shows up on Wano (looking to fight Kaido except he's not there so ends up running into Mihawk (38) instead and "eh, good enough" only to get his ass kicked), Zoro (16) begs for his help to break Yamato (23) out of baby jail Kaido's prison.

Zoro and Yamato both leave Wano together because if there's one thing Zoro can't stand, it's the thought of his adoptive older brother going back to being treated horribly.

Only both Yamato and Zoro get separated from each other at some point because they're both shit at navigation. So when Luffy finds Zoro like In Canon, Zoro is all "yeah, I'll join your crew if you help me find my brother."

Yamato and Zoro have only been separated for a couple of months at most but you can only imagine how Yamato (26) must be worrying over his baby (19) brother by now. Zoro gets lost easily!! (ignoring the fact that Yamato, himself, is lost).

Luffy, of course, agrees because it's like a free 2-1 nakama and Pirate Hunter Zoro's older brother of all people? SCORE.

Wait, wouldn't Demon of Wano and Oni of Wano be cool matching epithets for Zoro and Yamato?

So the rest is just following Canon except with Yamato being part of the Straw Hats. You know, just your average 9-foot-tall, horn-having, skull-crushing dude with a baseball bat kanabo.

Skip to Sabaody.

Both Zoro (19) and Law (24) have existential crises when they see each other again at the Auction House ("Oh no, he's hot!") and Yamato, older than BOTH of them, going "hmmm, something suspicious is happening here".

Zoro gets sent back to Wano because obviously he didn't pay enough attention to his lessons (his chest scar, prior to leaving Wano, is evidence of one such failed lesson) and Yamato gets sent to Cora (37) maybe. Where Cora can teach Yamato about how sometimes your loved ones can also be Absolutely Horrible people and you gotta let them go.

Cora and Mihawk both having to fight at Marineford (Mihawk is much less phased because he's just Like That while Cora is a blubbering mess) only to go home and find one of their Children (Yamato as Cora's by extension) has been sent to them by that one Warlord with Bear Paws for Hands.

Ace still dies because it's too crucial a point in time. I'm sorry.

Kaido is the reason Zoro (20-21) is missing his eye - as punishment for running away with Yamato. It would've been worse (Zoro likely would've been killed) if King hadn't convinced him that it was better if Zoro was alive - Yamato would be more likely to come back home. And then King (47) is the one to (secretly) help Zoro (21) leave Wano to go back to Sabaody and there's a tear-jerking heart-wrenching reunion scene between King and Yamato (28) before King has to return back to Wano.

When it comes to making the alliance (Law totally chose Luffy out of all of the Supernovas because Zoro, you can't convince me otherwise), Luffy is like "heck yea, I wanna punch the shit out of Yamato's dad" and everyone else is a little bit more on board. Yamato and Zoro both had to deal with that asshole and probably (accidentally) shared tidbits about how their childhood was really difficult (a la living in Wano under Kaido's rule).

Not to mention the surprise of everyone on how Zoro, Yamato, and Law know each other:

Zoro & Yamato: Our dad's are dating.

Everyone: Wait...wtf

Law: You don't have to word it like that.

Yamato: King and Mihawk were far better dads than my dad ever was

Zoro: and they're kind of long-distance dating Cora

Law: Who isn't actually my dad!!

Everyone who remembers Cora shouting 'THAT'S MY SON!!!' from across the battlefield at one point: uh-huh

And when it comes time to beat Doflamingo, both Zoro and Yamato are heavily invested in punching the shit out of him (especially Yamato, who just spent 2 years with Cora).

So they defeat Doflamingo, go to Zou, and then go to Wano. The Straw Hats still gotta go save Sanji from WCI but Yamato and Zoro both go with Law, obviously.

While they're waiting for the rest to show up, Zoro shows Law around Wano properly because he'd been sick the last time he was there and this was, y'know, the place he grew up (they're totally not dates except that they are).

The time to fight Kaido comes.

Zoro fighting King is basically just emotional with lots of sword swinging (King had to take his mask off in the first 20 seconds because Zoro had never seen it before and wouldn't stop laughing) while Yamato is finally standing up against his father for the first time.

After everything is done and over, Mihawk comes back and looks at the aftermath and goes "I was gone for two days" (more like a month but okay). Everyone else is just "Do we need fight this guy too?" until they realize that that's Zoro's other dad. The Main Dad. The Strongest of the Dads.

Perona pops out of nowhere and shouts, "You were in Wano this whole time and you didn't STOP BY??!??!?!" and gives everyone a heart attack.

I don't know what happens after this because, well, we're still fighting Kaido right now. But Cora probably shows up so it's a Proper Family Reunion and, as the one with the least tact, is probably the one to ask why Zoro and Law aren't married yet.

Sergeant Heath McCoy

Quick summary: After his older brother Cooper’s disappearance in 2007, when Heath was just 13, their parents vowed to make up for their perceived mistakes which they believed led to Cooper’s “deviance.” They put intense pressure on Heath to be perfect, wanting him to become their replacement oldest son. As a consequence, Heath excelled at both academics and sports, mainly football, and became a strict rule follower and perfectionist. He joined the army (branch tbd) after high school and reached the rank of sergeant before leaving and joining the Drug Enforcement Agency. While his parents were proud of him, they didn’t know that Heath had an ulterior motive for his career choice. Heath had worshipped his older brother and was devastated when he left without saying goodbye. Their parents had told him Cooper had become addicted to drugs and had fallen in with bad people and turned violent and therefore they felt it wasn’t safe for him to be around the rest of the family anymore. Heath never knew the truth, but he was determined to find Cooper somehow, and eventually is able to track him down through his position at the DEA.

Small snippet below the cut, a little bit after Heath and Cooper reunite:

Cooper sat in the tiny holding cell in the Hope County sheriff’s department, minding sifting through the options for his future. It didn’t look good. He already wouldn’t be allowed to post bail since he was such a flight risk, and he wasn’t sure how long it would take to get a lawyer and a trial date and all that. He had money but since all of it was made illegally, Cooper wasn’t sure if it would be seized or if he would be allowed to use any of it to pay for a good defender. The more he thought about it, the more Cooper kicked himself for not looking into these things ahead of time, because, as he was now realizing, it was more or less inevitable that he would be caught. Cooper leaned forward with his head in his hands as the bleakness of his outlook started to suffocate him.

“Cooper.”

He looked up. Heath stood outside the cell, a few feet away as if worried Cooper might reach through the bars and strangle him, which in fairness, Cooper felt like he might do just that. Out of every scenario Cooper had pictured for his future, he never imagined his own little brother arresting him.

“What?” he said gruffly, glaring at Heath who met his gaze steadily with a look on his face almost identical to the one their dad used to wear when he was disappointed.

“Look, I know you’re not happy about this,” Heath said, “but it’s for the best.”

“Oh yeah?” Cooper scoffed.

“Yes, this way I know exactly where you are….and I know you’ll be safe.”

“Safe? As soon as Silas—as soon as my old gang finds out where I’m at they’ll send someone to kill me. I stole a bunch o’ shit from ‘em, they ain’t lettin’ that go.”

“I won’t let that happen.”

“What, you gonna come with me?”

“No,” Heath said calmly, though with a hint of irritation in his voice, “but I have some pull, I can make sure you’re well guarded.”

“Oh yeah, tell everyone I’m the brother of a DEA agent, that's a good idea.”

“Cooper, you broke the law!” Heath snapped suddenly, “this is happening because of the choices you made.”

“Guess I shoulda joined the army like you huh?” Cooper couldn’t keep the contempt from his tone, “Or get some stupid nine to five job or somethin?” he shook his head, folding his arms, “I’d rather fuckin’ kill myself.”

“Well you’ve had one here for the last year haven’t you?” Heath said with exasperation, “was it really that bad?”

Cooper went quiet while he pondered this.

“No…..no I guess it weren’t too bad,” he said after a while, “but I wouldn’t wanna do it forever.” He sighed and gave Heath a small smile. “I’m sorry, I know you’re just doin’ your job.”

Heath returned the smile hesitantly, but there was a sadness in his hazel eyes.

“I’m sorry too, Cooper,” he said, “but I really am trying to help you.”

Cooper’s anger flared again but this time he swallowed it back down.

“Well, if you really wanted to help,” he growled out, “you could let me go.”

“Are you serious?” Heath said, incredulous, “I’d lose my job, and end up in jail too!”

“Naw, you wouldn’t,” Cooper said, grinning, “cause I’d take you with me.”

“You’re crazy.”

“We could totally do it!” Cooper said excitedly, standing up, “whaddya say?”

“Cooper, I can’t just leave my family like that.”

“If you’re worried about Mom and Dad—“

“Not Mom and Dad,” Heath said impatiently, “I’m married. I have a kid.”

“What?” Cooper gasped, the shock knocking him back to his seat.

“Yup,” said Heath, he took his phone from his pocket and showed Cooper the lock screen photo. A beaming Hispanic woman with long dark hair held a chubby toddler on her lap. “That’s my wife, Annie, and our son: Tristan Cooper McCoy.”

Cooper stared at the photo. His brain felt like it was buffering; trying to process this overload of new information. He was an uncle.

“You….you named him after me?” Cooper felt tears rising in the back of his eyes as his heart filled with a bittersweet ache.

“Well, after her father first and then yeah, after you,” Heath smiled, “dad wasn’t too happy about that.”

Cooper tried to smile back but his lip trembled as a few tears started to run down his cheeks as quickly as he could wipe them away.

“Sorry,” he said with a sniffle, “he um, he looks like you.”

“Yeah a bit,” Heath said, looking fondly at his phone once before returning it to his pocket. “He’s a handful.”

“So were you.”

They both laughed this time, although Cooper felt so guilty it was like a physical pain in his chest.

“Heath,” he started to say, “I—“

“McCoy!”

Both brothers looked around as the federal marshal, Cameron Burke, entered the room.

“We’re heading out to arrest that Joseph Seed,” Burke spoke to Heath, ignoring Cooper completely, “would you be up for an assist? Local team could use an extra hand since uh….they’re short one officer.” He spared a quick glance Cooper’s way.

“Yeah, I guess I could…” Heath said with a shrug.

“Don’t,” Cooper said, suddenly worried, “please.”

Heath hesitated, looking between his brother and the marshal.

“I should go, Cooper,” he said, “I’m sure it’ll be fine.”

“Heath, listen to me, this Joseph guy….his followers, there’s a lot more goin’ on there than it looks like.”

Heath frowned, “like what?”

“I don’t exactly but they got guns n’ shit, I just think you should wait. Take some more people with you.”

“Sheriff says you’re sleeping with one of them,” Burke interrupted, “Joseph’s brother right? John?”

Cooper flushed as Heath raised his eyebrows at him, “is that true?”

“I, um,” Cooper fumbled for the right words, “ok yes I am but—“

“You’re just trying to protect your boyfriend,” Burke said snorting, “come on, Sergeant, let’s go.”

“No I’m tryin’ to protect my brother,” Cooper snapped.

Heath blinked at him.

“That ship sailed a long time ago, Cooper,” he said sadly, but with a bitter edge to his voice, “I’ll be fine. We’ll figure out what to do with you when we get back.”

And Cooper watched Heath walk away with the marshal, a horrible sense of dread washing over him, and feeling, for the second time in his life, the acute fear that he might never see his little brother again.
