DP x DC Prompt #27
When Dick's parent's fell, his first thought was, "This can't be happening." His second thought was, "What's going to happen to me and my brother now?"
The answer? His brother was older than him, much older. Old enough that he could stay with the circus. But Dick? Dick couldn't stay with Danny. He was too young.
So Bruce Wayne took him in, offered to take Danny in too. Dick begged his brother to join him, but Danny didn't. He smiled at Dick, ruffled his hair, and told him he'd be waiting at the circus for when Dick returned. Promised to send postcards and letters.
Then he was gone. And Dick never returned to the circus.

Fictober23 Prompt: 11 - "You lost it, Well, we lost it."
Fandom: DPxDC
Rating: G
Warnings: -
A/N: Ties to this Post, but can be read independently, or at least I hope. I am bad at judging these kind of things.
"Daniel." Damian hissed looking over his shoulder at the floating presence next to him. 'Daniel' had his back turned to him, arms crossed and was clearly pouting. The preteen's right eye twitched.
"Daniel, look at me." Really was this the others reaction to getting told to shut up after he had rambled a good while about his oldest brother and causing them to lose the artifact they had just acquired?
"My name is not Daniel."
"For such an old being, you are being childish." Damian huffed back, having had this kind of argument before with Daniel, well Danny as the ghost - spirit - his past life's soul or whatever he should call him, insisted.
"And you are not childish enough. You are what? 11? 12? Be a kid and live more!" Danny turned around, throwing his arms out while doing a twirl in the air. Damian watched how the other's hands lit up green and he let sparks fly, imitating a firework.
"We do not have time for this." Damian huffed instead, turning his focus back to their surroundings.
"If not now, when then?" Danny retorted, floating next to his shoulder again, looking at the map Damian had laid out on the ground, several areas were already crossed out and the boy was tapping with a pencil against the paper.
"We wouldn't be in this situation if you hadn't distracted me before, with facts that I did not need to know."
"Excuse me? I find the fact that I figured out who Dash got reborn as very important! Like do you know how badly I want to go to Clockwork and beg him to sent be back in time just so I could see his face if I told him? That's something you should be looking forward to with how interested you had been about some of the others. Ancients! Dan would laugh even more if I told him!"
Standing up and dusting his pants Damian crossed his arms staring unimpressed at the now rambling ghost. Now going on and on about the fact that since they were tied together, he would get dragged along and prove that Danny wasn't lying to his former bully about having become a super protective and wacky older brother.
Pinching the bridge of his nose Damian, felt like he could relate to his fathers a bit more now. "Daniel."
"Just image the face he would make and…"
"Daniel."
"....of course it would be hard to prove but since we can't get more than 20 ft distance you would…"
"....Daniel James Fenton."
"...once we are there I could also show you how Dad and Mom used to be and…"
"... Daniel Phanom."
"... you could help me figure out who Vlad was reborn as once you saw past him. I am still…"
Damian sighed, glaring at the still rambling Ancient of Balance, Ghost King or whatever other title the ghost had acquired. "Danny."
In an instant Danny's head snapped to Damian with stars in his eye. "DAMI! You called me Danny!"
His eye twitched and he suppressed whatever he wanted to return right now and opted to only click his tongue. "Oh right, we got a job to do! We gotta find that artifact, we had researched."
The younger turned his unimpressed stare into a glare. "You mean the artifact we had, previously before you distracted me with your ramblings again."
"That's right! You lost it!" Danny knocked with a fisted hand against the flat of his palm in realization, smiling brightly. "That ninja guy took it, the one you said who was working for your Peepaw right?"
"Please do not call grandfather that. Besides, you distracted me. Being the only one able to see you is clearly a hindrance not an advantage as you insisted." Damian huffed back, turning his face to the side.
"Still doesn't change the fact that it got taken from you. Ergo you lost it!" Danny grinned widened, ready to tease Damian more about having lost the artifact they had painfully researched and tried to find behind their families back. Though the ghost blinked as Damian suddenly smirked up at him. "Well, we lost it. You told me once that we were supposed to be the same person until you were removed from the reincarnation cycle. But this soul magic recognizes you and me as the same. Despite you seeing me for who I am, we are bound."
"Uh…"
Damian continued to smirk. "You are essentially teasing yourself."
The two stared at each other, one smirking triumphantly the other staring in disbelief and with a gabbing mouth. Finally Danny huffed, crossing his arms and pouting as he floated cross legged next to his sort-of-but-not-reincarnation. "Don't tell Dan you outworded me again."
"I have yet to meet this 'Dan', Daniel." Damian answered easily as he uncrossed his arms and picked up the map, having decided where to go next now that Danny was no longer spouting nonsense and would be of help. He had noticed small traces of his grandfather's man that had taken the artifact from them.
"Nooooooo!" Damian only so much as inclined his head slightly into the other direction. Bracing himself for next nonsense the other would come up with only to see from the corner of his eyes how Danny dramatically fell into a horizontal floating position, acting like he was laying flat on the floor. "You are back to being all formal names! I thought we made progress!"
Damian only smirked hopping off the roof they had been on, back on track to get the artifact back. It had only been two weeks but he had become quite fond of his dramatic past self, despite the existential worries he had caused at first. Still as much as he had gotten fond of Danny, he did not want for the other to be stuck with him forever. After all, the Ghost King surely had his own duties to attend to, yet Damian wouldn't mind if the Ancient became a permanent fixture in his life.
Maybe he could even introduce him to the rest of the family, once the soul magic was resolved and he was no longer the only one able to see him.

"Okay, I can see why your astrology loving self likes it here," Tim elbowed Danny.
"It's astronomy and you know it." Danny said, fake offended.
"Yeah, I will admit I'm surprised by how good the internet is here. I wasn't expecting that out of rural Kansas."
"Well, think of who they have to keep in contact with, and how far away." Danny pointed out. "Honestly, pretty sure Bruce is responsible."
"Wouldn't be surprised."
"Hey Danny!" Elle hovered over the two of them. "Let's go flying!"
"We've got a guest you know." Danny gestured at Tim with his thumb. "Be kind of a jerk move to fly off without him."
"Can't he fly?" Elle asked. "His hero name is Robin, right?"
Elle looked like she was ten, but Tim had to remind himself she was less than half a year old and often surrounded by metahumans. "No flight. All my powers are up here." he said, tapping the side of his head.
"You're psychic?" she asked.
Danny laughed and Tim rolled his eyes. "No powers, just smart." he clarified. Then he looked back at the stars. "It would be interesting to see what it would be like to have powers, but like most of the family, I'm a normal human."
"No one who can lie to Batman with a straight face is normal." Danny pointed out.
"If he wants to know what it's like to have powers, why don't you show him?" Elle asked.
"It's rude." Danny said, sticking his tongue.
"Not with consent."
"Not with permission." Danny pleaded. "You are too young for me to want to hear you use the phrase 'consent'."
"Missing something." Tim pointed out.
"Overshadowing. If I take control of you I can channel my powers through your body. But like I said, it's kind of rude."
Tim wasn't sure 'rude' was the word for stealing someone's bodily autonomy. But Elle did have a point of her own. There was a world of difference between doing something with or without consent. "Okay, how would that work?"
"How would what work?" Danny asked.
"The overshadowing thing."
"Oh, it's er," Danny was fiddling with his fingers, suddenly nervous. "It's kinda creepy."
Tim gave him a flat look. They'd covered Danny referring to himself as 'creepy' enough in Gotham that he wasn't amused.
"It's basically possession. I would seize control of your body and channel my powers through it. Normally the person getting possessed is sort of put to sleep and only has vague impressions of the time they were controlled. But a person with strong enough willpower can resist and be aware." Unsaid was that pretty much everyone in Tim's family would be able to hold onto their awareness.
"Could you cede control once you had it though? Possess someone but not control them?"
"I honestly don't know. I've never tried it." Danny admitted.
"Then lets try it," Tim suggested.
Danny looked at him like he was crazy. "Why?"
"Two reason. The first is it will see how well I do if a ghost tries controlling me. The second," he shrugged, "I'm not a metahuman and will probably never be one. And I'm okay with that, but it's been interesting to see what it feels like to be one, you know?"
Danny pursed his lips and Tim wondered if he was crossing a line. Being a metahuman hadn't exactly been a fun experience for Danny, after all.
"Okay." Danny said reluctantly. "But you don't get to blame me if you don't like it."
Or he could just still have issues with the thought of people rejecting him for his powers. "Fair. We've got Elle as our witness that this was my idea. I could talk to the Kents beforehand too-"
"Not necessary!" Danny shuddered.
Tim felt his heart droop. Deep down Danny still didn't trust they'd keep caring for him. He hated what the Fentons had done to Danny's self esteem. "You don't have to if you don't want to." Tim softly reminded him. "I don't want you to be uncomfortable either. But I trust you, you know?"
Danny swallowed heavily. "Okay. If you're sure."
It felt cold, at first, like a chill up his spine. Then Tim felt his mouth move and vocal chords activate independently of of him. "Okay, so this is overshadowing." His own voice said. "So I guess, try to do something and I'll try not to stop it?"
"Do you have to talk out loud?" Tim asked. "It's going to look like I'm talking to myself."
"I guess that works. And yes, no psychic connection for this. Sorry."
"Weird," Elle observed. "I've seen some recordings of overshadowing and usually the person has the eyes glowing the ghosts color when control, but the glow fades when they resist control. But the eye glow didn't go away when Tim spoke."
"He's not resisting me, I'm letting him have control, it's different." Danny insisted.
"Maybe I should start resisting you. Just to see if I can." Tim suggested.
Elle giggled. It really did look funny with him talking to himself.
"Okay," Danny raised Tim's arm and clenched his fist. "You try to open your hand and I'll try to keep it shut."
Tim had to admit just feeling his arm move like that was mildly panic inducing. He'd managed not to be carded by Hatter but imagined this was what it felt like. He struggled to move his hand only to have it firmly stay in place. He struggled more, eventually sending his arm into erratic fits, punching himself in the face. "Owww" he moaned as
Elle doubled over in laughter.
"Healing factor should take care of it in a few minutes. Unless you want to stop now." Danny rubbed their injured nose.
"No, I mean, I think I want muscle control back, we can work on resisting stuff more later. But I want to see what having powers feels like!"
"Which one do you want to-"
"Flying!" Elle interrupted gleefully.
"I think you might have an ulterior motive." Danny said dryly. "You up for flying, Tim?"
"Yes please," Tim answered, trying to hide how excited he was to try.
He's seen others fly, several times, but it wasn't something he's ever thought he could do except on a hang glider or something.
"We're going for invisibility first." Danny warned. "Since we don't want to be seen."
If getting possessed had been a shiver up his spine, becoming invisible was like being dunked in cool water. Not frigid, but a definite chill ran across his skin as it vanished from sight. Then Tim felt gravity lose it's hold on him. Without any form of propulsion he lifted up about a foot in the air.
"We're going to start low and slow." Danny assured him. "So if anything goes wrong you aren't going to fall too far." Gently he leaned forward and glided effortlessly through the air.
"Do you think I could do this myself?" Tim asked.
"No clue, let's try!" Danny seemed to be warming up to the idea of testing with Tim's lack of a bad reaction to being overshadowed.
The floated in place and Tim tried to move their shared body. But while he could mover his limbs with ease, Danny's power couldn't be interacted with. "Doesn't look like it, sorry."
Elle looped back around. "This is low and slow is kiddy stuff." She groaned.
Danny gave her a mild glare. "You are three months old. You have no right to complain of kiddy stuff."
"If anything I can more." Elle countered. "Come on, can we at least do tag or something?" Tim shrugged. "Sure, tag sounds good."
~
"Does she normally smoke you this bad at tag?"
"No." Danny grumped.
Tim sighed. "Sorry. Having to plan out our strategies is letting her hear us. If you took full control-" "Then you wouldn't be in the game, I'd just be using you as a meat suit for no reason." Danny pointed out.
Tim thought for a moment. "Danny, can you put your shield in a bubble around us, so Elle can't hear us planning?"
"Sure, but it's going to be obvious."
"That's fine, we're just planning the planning." Tim assured. Danny raised the shield "We're planning to plan? Seems redundant."
"We're planning the things that will let us plan in plain sigh without your sister knowing." Tim corrected. "So our main issue here is we've got two minds that need to collaborate. Even if we split the division of labor of you powers me body, we each need to use both. You can take control of my body if an opportunity needs it, but I can't take control of your powers, so that what we need more communication for."
"Elle hasn't developed much beyond the standard, so we can keep to those. So, intangibility," Tim tapped the ring finger of his left hand twice. "If I make that motion, it means I'm asking you to use intangibility, if you do it it's warning me you're using it and I don't have to flinch away. Blinking twice will work the same for invisibility and..." Tim thought a moment more. "Tongue for flying." "Okay, I get eyes for invisibility and hands for intangibility, why tongue for flying?" Danny asked.
"Because it can't be seen. So tongue on the roof of my mouth acts as the taps or blinking, but can also be used to indicate direction in three dimensions." Tim demonstrated by holding his tongue to the roof of his mouth, then pressing it to the left side of his cheek."
Any more discussion was interrupted by Elle knocking on the shield. Danny dropped it to reveal his younger sister looking annoyed. "Are we playing or what?" Dany smirk and cracked their shared knuckles. "Round two begins now."
~
Alfred stood on the porch with the Kents while Martha rang the bell to call the children in. It had been a lovely visit catching up with them while Tim spent some time with Danny and Elle. It warmed his heart that despite moving to Smallville and possibly adding Kent to his name instead of Wayne, Danny and Tim were still very much brothers.
(One of the contingencies, if the Kents hadn't felt able to take in the boy, was for him to be officially adopted by Tim as a Drake, allowing him to still be a part of the family without feeling an unwanted connection to Master Bruce. But that plan was scrapped when Danny became publicly known during the Seige of Gotham. It was for the best, Danny truly needed more adults he trusted.)
It wasn't unexpected to see the children approach from the air. What was unexpected was there was only two of them and Master Tim seemed to be flying of his own volition. A raised eyebrow was all it took to remind the children that this wasn't an ordinary situation either.
Tim felt his shoulders hunch and his cheek flush as Danny's self-consciousness expressed itself in his body. Danny separated from him and opened his mouth, probably to apologize, but Tim wasn't going to let him. "I wanted to know what it was like to fly." he said, cutting off any apologies for his existence his brother might make.
"Indeed." Alfred said simply. "And how did that work out?"
"Quite well. I can better coordinate flying members of the team now, as well as Danny and I worked out a simple non-verbal code in order to plan around Elle while she could hear everything we said to each other. It was a productive endeavor."
"More importantly, Master Tim." Alfred's eyes crinkled into a smile. "Did you have fun?"
Tim felt himself becoming bashful now, ducking his head. "Yeah." He answered. "I did."
Good. Just as Danny needed the occasional reminder they were cared for, Tim needed the reminder that he was more than his use.
"That's something." Pa rubbed his chin. "Don't suppose you'd be willing too take me up there too. "I'd love to be able to go flying with Clark."
Danny's face turned red, and he half hid behind Tim's shoulder.
"It's okay if you're not comfortable with us for that yet." Ma said kindly. "We know you haven't know us as long as Tim."
"S'Okay." Danny muttered.
"You can take Pa and I'll take Ma. We can all go flying!" Elle cheered.
"When your brother's ready," Ma gently admonished.
"With that we must be off." Alfred apologized. "While I treasure these times, it's not fair to Miss Gordon to have to run herd on our family all evening without backup."
"Give Bruce our best." Ma patted Tim on the head while Pa and Alfred shook hands.
"I will. See you soon Danny."
"Yeah." Danny smiled at his brother. "See you soon."
It would be sooner than either of the two thought

Is it weird that I’m not a big fan of the whole this hero from this fandom gets adopted by the batfam trope? Like, it’s repetitive, but my main issue is that I feel like it devalues the hero in the process? Like, I’ve read fics about Danny and Spidey being adopted by them , and it’s just weird because they’re both solo heroes who’ve accomplished amazing things by themselves, and I feel them getting adopted and following Batman’s order just makes them another sidekick? Like, Spider man in particular was one of the first teen heroes that wasn’t a sidekick, and Danny falls into that category too. Sorry, does that make sense?
I think I get what you're trying to say here! That part of the reason why teenage heroes like Spider-Man and Danny Phantom are so impressive is because they did the hero thing alone, right? That they were capable of all these feats without a mentor and through their own wits and talents? I believe I'm getting that correctly?
I wouldn't call that weird at all. Everyone has the right to their own opinion, and should be respectful enough not to bash anyone else for theirs.
I will say that half the reason why I adore Danny so much is how passionate his character is. We have evidence that Danny isn't the most fond of the hero gig, but the fact that he keeps at it, keeps putting himself in danger to protect people, proves that for all that he's a little shit that gets on people's nerves, he is genuinely a good kid. He didn't have to do the hero thing, but he did, because someone had to, and he decided it had to be him. And he did it alone, or- mostly alone. Sam and Tucker's help should never be underestimated, but it's no secret that they don't have all the firepower he does.
I do understand why people like the trope where Danny or Peter get adopted, and part of it is for the same reasons I like it too.
When you think about it, teen heroes are targeted for teen audiences. They're fictional characters meant to instill confidence in kids, teach them that they can do good too, help them grow and reflect when they see their favorite heroes going through the same things they do. All sorts of things like that. And when you're a kid, you feel like the world is stacked against you. Hopefully you'll have people in your corner, but not every kid out there does. So these kinds of heroes help them build confidence in their independence, that they can stand up for themselves too, even when no one else will.
But then you grow up, and then you realize you shouldn't have had to do that all by yourself. You should have had a trusting adult to look out for you, you should have had someone to watch your back. I was an anxious 14-15 year old, because I was stupid enough to try to finish high school in 3 years instead of the standard 4.
And that's nothing in comparison to these teen heroes who have people's lives in their hands, fighting every day knowing that one day they might not come back home, getting injuries they can't always hide well. On top of all that, they have to make excuses at school, make excuses at home, try to keep up with their grades so that they can have a future, they have to think about college/university plans.
Sometimes they get grounded or punished, because they're lying to their family's faces, but it's all for a good cause. But they can't explain that either, because they want to protect the people they love. Peter Parker is usually very poor, in some cases he works one or multiple jobs to help Aunt May pay the bills.
The teenage experience is overwhelming enough, they shouldn't have to worry about the hero thing. But they want to help people. And they deserve to get some help of their own.
I know there are probably some people out there that give Danny or Peter a loving family because they see a lot of themselves in these two. They couldn't get that supportive family, so they go in and they give these teen heroes the family they never had, because they know how much good it would have done for them too. And sometimes that blood/biological family isn't the answer, might even be the root problem of it all, so they give them an adopted one.
Obviously it's still not for everyone, especially if you do want to keep that independent aspect that kinda makes the whole teenage hero trope. So the concept might not be for you, and that's okay too! Unfortunately sometimes that means you have to ignore a lot of fics, but hopefully there are plenty other fics that are out there for you.

HISTORY
tw. sibling death
— born and raised in bethany beach, delaware. had a rather above average childhood. the jackson's were pretty well off and it showed, though they tried to raise their two kids ( bailey and his twin sister, brooke ) to have humility and be down to earth. the kids had to work for what they wanted, not getting too much in the way of allowance or "fun money". that didn't always keep the jackson twins from getting into trouble, though. — bailey and brooke were close, opposite in plenty of ways : bailey's responsibility to brooke's spontaneity. it was a good match. growing up they played plenty of sports including lacrosse, swimming, and hockey. they also loved to surf. — they both had always chaffed at the idea of staying in bethany beach long term, though in different ways. brooke had wonderlust, bailey had dreams of making his own name in something. and so bailey went off to umass and brooke went on a cross-country roadtrip she only came back from in a box. — brooke's death hit bailey hard, still a freshman at umass. he never did go back, staying with his parents in bethany beach. he never did quite move on, and with the world in a new light, couldn't bring himself to leave bethany beach and its memories. instead, he attended trade school nearby and found keeping his hands busy helped a lot. — not long after, he got a seasonal summer job with a landscaping crew, enjoying being outside and the hard but rewarding labor. upon completion of trade school, he picked up a maintenance position at a local apartment complex. — he lived with his parents for a couple years until his income was steady enough to rent a place at the apartment complex, the very place he worked (age 21). at least they were kind enough to give him a break in rent, though he switched positions to pick up a maintenance position at a local high end hotel instead, getting a nice bump in pay in the process. — bailey lived at the apartment complex for a couple years, working, picking up some independent jobs as a handy-man, and also helping his neighbors to avoid a costly run-in with the apartment complex maintenance. a few years ago, he began to grow restless with never leaving the small town where he grew up. — a chance run-in with a certain guest at the hotel lead to one thing and another and soon enough he was moving from luxury hotel maintenance to cruiseliners. he grew in that role, suddenly falling in love with the constant movement, the ports he was able to explore and the people he was able to meet, both his fellow crew and most guests.
Tumblr media
PRESENT DAY
— now in his fifth year ( and sixth contract ) working on cruiseliners, bailey has grown in his role, now often the go-to person when something breaks or isn't working correctly in a guest's quarters or at one of the locations on the ship. in the past year with his assignment to poseidon's odyssey, he's also been assigned to the concierge service. — as concierge, he's on call to tend to guests needs in the higher luxury cabins. this is especially true when new guests are boarding. as maintenance, he's assigned to ( or called to ) specific maintenance cases in the crew and guest quarters by his manager — some cases are more pressing than others which allows him to hold both positions at once. he also does shifts at the wifi desk once or twice a week which does not pay in salary but instead in additional allotted wifi time. — bailey doesn't have the most stringent day-to-day life. he's on call for maintenance almost all the time, concierge in the slower parts of the day. his day starts early with a run, almost always on the deck track. he's very good at always getting fresh air and sunshine ( when the sun's out ) every single day. — crew cabins are nice enough but they certainly aren't luxury and given he's a big guy bailey doesn't spend more time in his cabin than he needs to : mostly just to sleep and change clothes. otherwise, you can find him on other parts of the ship !! — outside of his work-related jobs, you can find bailey at any number of the locations on the ship without seeming out of place. consider it part of his jack-of-all-trades quality. his favorites are ares' arena ( arcade ), atlantis springs ( the outdoor pool ), book haven ( the bookstore ), the sea walk & sun deck ( though he prefers the crew decks as they're less crowded even if they are also significantly less luxurious ), sweet brew & treats, and the tennis courts. — when the ship pulls into port, bailey is getting off and exploring each and every time when he's able to for sure. unfortunately, as he's maintenance, he doesn't always get the opportunity to leave the ship in port especially if there is something pressing that needs to be resolved.
Tumblr media
PERSONALITY
— bailey's twin brooke always was the spontaneous one. bailey was the responsible one with a plan to get out of that small town and make a name for himself. things didn't quite play out that way in the end, but in his responsible and quieter nature, the memory of his sister still reminds him to play into that spontaneous side when he can. — steady and even-keeled, there's a reason bailey gets called first a lot despite his young age. he's good at problem solving : whether that's a faucet that doesn't work or solving guests' problems. perhaps that's one of the reasons he's adapted to his additional concierge role so well. — bailey isn't one to be easily ruffled or riled up. another good quality in someone working public facing customer service. — his personality makes him easy to get along with, though while he has plenty of friends and acquaintances, close friends is another matter. bailey doesn't get close to others very easily, not letting people in often beyond a more superficial and amiable level. — ngl, very boy next door kinda vibes ( positive )
Tumblr media
APPEARANCE
— 6'2", fairly muscular between more physical labor and a consistent workout regime. — brown-blonde hair that trends lighter, especially in summer and lots of sunlight, often cut in a fade with mussed strands on top. usually clean shaven, though he lets it get stubbly a bit too often. — when not in uniform, dresses casually and practically. many of this clothes have a rather live-in feel. — a rather easy and relaxed air about him, a low but soft-spoken voice that usually draws people in and makes them want to listen — good for resolving issues.
Tumblr media
MISC. HEADCANONS
— did lots of sports growing up : swimming, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, track. as he grew older swimming and lacrosse were his main sports. he also grew up surfing a lot !! he's overall fairly athletic and loves joining pick up games of whatever on the ship. — keeps his quarters very neat. much easier and a necessity when living in a cabin on deck, but even when he lived in his apartment the whole place was quite neat !! — doesn't presently own anything on-shore as far as an apartment or anything. on occasion he stays at his parents' house, especially when between contracts, who have also been generous enough to let him keep his excess belongings that he didn't sell at their house as well. — he does miss cooking for himself, though the crew meals are pretty good for a ship. occasionally, he's able to convince the cooks to let him make something for himself while off-hours. — knows how to mend clothes !! — picked up whittling which was his grandfather's hobby and he learned from him. of course doesn't have all his tools with him but he makes passable figurines. — relaxed but also constantly moving in some way: picking at seams in clothing, stickers on things, pieces of wood, etc. — attends his fair share of crew parties but doesn't drink much at them. maybe a bit too risk-adverse when it comes to potentially getting fired. he does maybe have a plug-in electric kettle to make tea though shhh.
Tumblr media
WANTED CONNECTIONS
these are just super general ideas meant to get conversations going and to provide a little inspiration. also goes without saying but not a comprehensive list !! i'm also happy to ( and often prefer to ) work more from chemistry as well especially in an rp like this where muses likely don't know each other super well yet !!
— in general, i can see more established friendships or past relationships with crew members from his time on other cruiseliners ! otherwise, bailey has been on poseidon's odyssey for a little less than a year and we can plot something from that.
— bailey likes to lend a helping hand so people he's helped ( potentially several times lol ) : fixing broken things, saving the day for a fellow crew member by resolving an issue, etc.
— on the contrary maybe a particularly difficult guest he can't seem to please but always requests him as concierge kkslaksjdf
— fellow crew members that go off in a little group together while at port !!
— crushes ( on him or former ones he had on others )
— former hook ups / one night stands
— workout buddies and fellow early risers
— maybe someone he met back in bethany beach ( maybe they were there for vacation ?? )

'28 Days Later, the apocalyptic zombie film which gave Cillian Murphy his breakout role, opens and closes with two near-identical scenes. Both moments find Jim, played by Murphy, scared, injured and confused, the camera pressed hard to his face as he tries to decipher the situation in which he finds himself. These bookends, while framed in a similar fashion, present two very different people; the Jim blissfully unaware of the zombie apocalypse gripping his world, and the Jim who’s just pressed a man’s eyeballs out with his thumbs to save his only friends and companions. A man who did what had to be done.
Throughout his career, the latter is the Murphy we have become familiar with. In almost every role he takes on, Murphy has an inherent control over his environment. Whether he is a mob boss, Irish revolutionary, Gotham’s least Hippocratic psychiatrist, or a world-changing nuclear physicist, he is preternaturally competent, a stoic statue of proficiency, a man who does what’s needed. Jim isn’t any of those things when we first meet him, but he learns fast.
As we enter a summer in which Murphy is set to headline one of the biggest movies of the year, it is important to remember how anonymous he was when he was cast in Danny Boyle’s zombie thriller. Up to that point, the 26-year-old Cork-born actor had mostly bounced around British and Irish theater, before starring in Disco Pigs – a strange, dark little movie adapted from the Edna Walsh play he had also performed in. That said, it’s not hard to understand what Boyle and subsequent directors saw in the young actor. As if his piercing blue eyes and Roman bust of a face weren’t enough, Murphy has the kind of quiet, understated power that allows for both projection and unknowability.
“Cillian has this extraordinary empathetic ability to carry an audience into a thought process. He projects an intelligence that allows the audience to feel that they understand the character and see layers of meaning,” said Christopher Nolan to Rolling Stone earlier this year. It’s something that Nolan has exploited in different ways throughout their many collaborations. Hot off the success of 28 Days Later, Nolan brought Murphy in to test for the lead role in his new Batman trilogy – a role that would eventually go to Christian Bale. Regardless, Nolan wanted Murphy involved, instead casting him as one of Bale’s earliest nemeses, Dr. Jonathan Crane, or Scarecrow, a psychiatrist unafraid to explore unconventional modes of diagnosis and treatment. There’s something to be said about the fact that even as a comic book villain – a notoriously insecure profession – Murphy’s Scarecrow remains a thread that runs through the Nolan Batman trilogy, an adaptable, steady hand in a world of Jokers.
It’s a role Murphy takes on again and again throughout his career, that of the consummate professional, even as circumstances around him continue to heighten. A year after the release of Batman Begins, Murphy appeared in Ken Loach’s The Wind That Shakes The Barley, a story set a bit closer to home than Gotham City. In it, he plays Damien O’Donovan, a fictional Irish Republican Army soldier fighting for Irish independence in the 1920s. It’s a dense, historically-minded film in which the chaos and violence of the time is placed at the fore, and individual character, at times, is given short shrift.
Murphy’s O’Donovan is the exception – a young man believable as both the bookish, London-bound doctor and the ruthless military leader. It’s his moral anguish, and constant refusal to let it stand in the way of his goals, that give the film momentum and pathos even in the face of its moments of history book density.
Much of what he does in The Wind That Shakes The Barley can be seen as the blueprint for what, to this point, is perhaps Murphy’s most notable role. Thomas Shelby, the leader of the titular criminal enterprise at the center of Peaky Blinders, is defined by both internalized anguish and ruthless acumen. Like many a television anti-hero before and after, Shelby is haunted, by both the trauma he faced during the First World War and the violent lengths he must go to keep his family atop the pecking order in 1920s Birmingham. For much of the series, this trauma is beneath the surface, an anger that simmers from the corners of those wide eyes but never makes its way to the rest of the face. When it does escape that stoic stare, it is violent and terrifying, a drastic inversion of the control he so easily displays.
It’s this line of performance that makes his broken and shell-shocked turn in 2017’s Dunkirk all the more affecting. Nolan’s characteristic manipulation of time has us meet Murphy’s unnamed “shivering soldier” only after the events that have led him to near catatonia. When Mark Rylance’s civilian sailor and his son find Murphy he looks the part of a competent officer, one who should be raring for a fight, but instead his all frayed nerves, pure trauma with none of the facade that Murphy typically wears so well.
This brings us back to 28 Days Later. When we meet Jim he could not be more vulnerable. Stark naked, alone and afraid, he awakens unaware of the virus that has revaged the United Kingdom, and survives only thanks to a few straggling survivors, led by Naomie Harris’s headstrong and resourceful chemist Selena. Today, it’s not hard to picture Murphy as the knowing leader ushering the powerless through apocalyptic terror, but here he is all but ineffectual, a bicycle messenger who lost his whole family and nearly everyone he has ever met. “Help Selena! Wait, Selena!” yells Jim as he hobbles up the stairs away from the infected whose red eyes and snarled teeth close in on him. As the audience surrogate, Murphy spends much of 28 Days Later learning and adapting as best he can, but he is almost always one step behind the action, never in control.
That is, until the film’s climax, when his naivety and relative peacefulness is wrenched away by twisted humanity that threatens his only remaining companions. Caked in blood and straddling a would-be rapist, Jim is no longer wide-eyed, but hardened and callous. It’s in these final moments where we meet the Murphy who has graced our screens ever since: a man whose hope is always tempered by anguish, but who can be rellied upon to do what has to be done all the same.'

(o ɞ̴̶̷ ·̮ ɞ̴̶̷ )o Raul and Rotface?
Raul Tejada
Sexuality Headcanon: HE'S BISEXUAL I JUST KNOW IT
Gender Headcanon: N/A (cis man alert)
A ship I have with said character: I think it's really cute when people ship their Courier with him!! <3
A BROTP I have with said character: Him and my courier Rowan B^)
A NOTP I have with said character: N/A
A random headcanon: He's more of an animal person than a people person. He really misses living on a ranch and taking care of animals all day, he especially misses horseback riding
General Opinion over said character: I love Raul so much, he's my favorite New Vegas companion 🫶 He has so much personality, I love that he's simultaneously needy (guilt tripping the Courier for sending him away or leaving him anywhere pffft) but also a total smart ass. AND HE'S VOICED BY DANNY TREJO, I MEAN C'MON
Rotface
Sexuality Headcanon: Definitely gay
Gender Headcanon: N/A
A ship I have with said character: N/A
A BROTP I have with said character: Once again, him and Rowan!! Rowan already knows it's smart to befriend the local vagrants, he gets a lot of useful info from Rotface and even after Rowan establishes an independent Vegas Rotface is still his eyes and ears regarding anything that happens in Freeside.
A NOTP I have with said character: N/A
A random headcanon: He's old, but still a post-war ghoul. He was a drifter and wanderer for years before finally settling in Freeside, he likes it there because it's safer than the wastes but still lively and interesting enough to just sit around and observe
General Opinion over said character: I LOVE ROTFACE he's one of my favorite more obscure npcs, I always listen to every single line of dialogue he has (which I think is like 30 lines?). This quote in particular always cracks me up:
Tumblr media
ALSO IF YOU ASK,"Are you soliciting me?" when you first meet him he replies,"Ha ha ha, oh that's rich. You're not exactly my type, no offense." He's so funny 😭

For both: 🎶Do they have a type? 😡What are their deal breakers? 👫Do they display affection in public? What about in private?
✧ ── 𝐌𝐘 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐈𝐍 𝐀 𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏
Tumblr media
ℝ𝕆𝔹𝕀ℕ 𝔸. 𝔹𝔸𝕌𝔻𝔼𝕃𝔸𝕀ℝ𝔼
🎶Do they have a type?
── I genuinely do not think it is any suprise when I say that Robin is attracted to less-than-ideal people in terms of the standards of the general populice. Robin is attracted to people he finds interesting and 98% of the time that means they're most likely willing to do some bizarre or messed up shit. His two ships both have people like this involved, Danny Johnson being a journalist serial killer who delights in bringing misery just so he can spice up "boring lives", and Vladimir vol Kalah Heigaari being a batshit hemomancer who's like 4000 years old and maybe a single step from a god. Robin searches not only for strange, and dangerous, quirks - but he's also very aware that he needs a partner who will encourage him and his pursuits; someone to stick beside him always. His time in Zaun (and wherever he was equivalent to Zaun in other verses) taught him to be resilient and to guard his heart from almost everyone around him - figuratively and literally - he does not trust easy. When that trust is forged it is on purpose and a calculated risk he decides to take for his lover - its a great depth that he could easily drown in - and he expects that same loyalty and vulnerability in return. It creates an amazingly deep connection for the relationships he DOES have. In terms of physical - Robin legitimately could not care less as long as they bathe.
😡What are their deal breakers?
── Robin is the most important person in his life; anything that will abuse him (mentally or physically) is an automatic "no" and he will leave without worry. Following off of this he has a very troubling relationship with his own autonomy after making the deal with Abel - and he is extremely protective of it. If a lover were to threaten that independence I imagine he would make quick work of removing himself from the situation; he wil be no one's slave. Robin will also accept no form of infidelity; once it happens its over - they will no longer be his problem or his lover since they have obviously chosen to unionize with another.
👫Do they display affection in public? What about in private?
── Once Robin is used to being able to touch someone his body reveals that he's been touch starved since before he even died - and now its all layering up and results in Robin being ridiculously clingy and physically touchy. If he can hold his lovers hand, he can - he spends nearly every break in modern verse with Danny - and is happy to carry Vladimir in his bat form too. Although I suppose this is moreso fine around strangers, he's a bit more hesitant around professional settings and around people he actually knows. In private he won't stop touching and being near his partner, I'm so sorry but also not really - he will stick to his partner until he smells like them. He is touch starved and loves kisses, hugs, snuggles - and its stupidly sweet given his usual pragmastism.
Tumblr media
ℍ𝔸ℝ𝕌𝕂𝕆 ℕ𝔸𝕂𝔸𝕊𝕆ℕ𝔼
🎶Do they have a type?
── Haruko is a relatively normal person and he has pretty basic needs when it comes to the people he enjoys; honest, mature, and affectionate - he isn't asking a lot like Robin. Granted this doesn't mean at all that Haru is interested in a lot of people, it takes him time to actually care about someone enough to even want to sleep with them. This may seem a bit off course since he did have a few flings - but going into a deeper relationship with him takes time despite the simple desires he has. He also, despite his own preening, doesn't particularly care what his partner looks like - their features will become attractive to him the closer he gets. He's just very lucky that Tarhos has such pretty eyes and is like - a foot taller than him. Ok. Maybe he likes tall people.
😡What are their deal breakers?
── The obvious ones; no abuse, don't be a douchebag - that sort of stuff. But he also comes with an extremely large bag of trauma that focuses around his sexuality and sexual pleasure; in short he did not have a good time with a previous partner. That being said he is still learning how to actually love himself and if Tarhos, for some ... reason?, was ever pushing him or trying to coerce him when he wasn't in the mood - that would pretty much tank his opinion of his boyfriend. He also expects respect not only for HIMSELF but for his family - unlike Robin (in modern at least) he actually loves his family and holds them in very high regard. Disrespecting his sister and/or mother will result in him very quickly dropping his partner, he might be a bit more lenient with teasing Hina but his mom? No.
👫Do they display affection in public? What about in private?
── Oh yeah, Haru absolutely loves being kissy and gross in public with Tarhos - he doesn't care who's watching he loves his boyfriend and will happily show it. The issue is when Tarhos actively returns it or shows the same enthusiasm or flirtations; this drives Haru to become pretty flustered pretty fast. Its weird being a siren usually and then having your own pretty lines thrown right back. Between this and private not much actually changes; he will be a bit more inclined to lean into deeper and more vulnerable conversation though - he doesn't want the world to see him fold but he will happily do it for Tarhos.

How about Tucker's headcannon?
Headcanon A:  realistic
Carrying too big of a fur dander allergy to have a pet like a dog or cat, Tuck would settle on having his own tortoise companion once he becomes more independent in life (*at first naming him "Tucker Jr" (for obv. reasons)... until he ends up randomly finding eggs in the pen one day, prompting a quick rename of "TJ" for simplicity's sake*)
Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious
While Danny definitely becomes the more bulky/"buff" one of the trio as adults, Tuck would ironically end up beating him in the height department by a good few inches (which Danny will never not be salty about whenever the three look back at old yearbook photos).
Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends
Tucker was born as a preemie baby, and for many years was in & out of the hospital from how constantly sickly/accident-prone he was. Though his body eventually got strong enough that he didn't need to see the doctor as much anymore, he still carried a big fear of hospitals from then on (up until the events of S2 "Doctor's Disorders")
Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.
Becoming Amity Park's mayor was just a random fever-dream Tuck had from eating too many Nasty Burgers one night... and so inevitably he settles on a more "reasonable" aspiration in setting up his own tech shop in the far future 👍

#13 for Cato and Danny? [ellie-e-marcovitz 😊]
Hi @ellie-e-marcovitz! Thanks for the ask! I'm gonna be answering this today cause I had other things going on last night.
Cato:
"Well you got me on this one! If I had enough galleons, that would put toward a memorial museum and park dedicated to all the lives lost during the Wizarding Wars. Honoring the victims of Voldemort's long reign of terror, I believe we should understand and be respectful that liberty has to be fought for. The dark lord was defeated because we all united against him and the Death Eaters for a common cause. Our goal was to restore peace and justice to the country. We won in the end, yet at a huge price. Those pure-blood supremacists were ruthless in their pursuit of power and control. They took many lives and we must remember those we lost. Not just those who fought against Voldemort and his army, but those who were claimed by their predation without a chance or means to defend themselves. I believe a museum would be the best means to accomplish that consideration. It would have to be somewhere out on in the country. Perhaps somewhere near Harry's birthplace in Godric's Hollow to pay homage to his rule in overthrowing Voldemort."
Danny:
"Nature was how I sought peace in early years. The outdoors was where felt free and safe from forces that would dare harm us. My father was a menace. The woods around my old childhood home in America was where I would escape his terror. Isaac, who is my little brother, went with me into the grove many times where we'd enjoy ourselves. We got into the habit of studying the local flora and fauna of both magical and mundane roots. I wrote it all down and drew sketches of them. Thoughts and ideas were free to flow into my mind and scribbled down at ease. Later I moved to England with my mom. She did not have the means to look after the both of us, but very thankfully Isaac ended up with a loving family and friends over at Illvermorny school. When I started at Hogwarts, I was amazed by the huge sprawling grounds the castle was built on. When nothing important was going on, I could go anywhere that was unrestricted. My outlook on life opened up and I embraced that with due opulence and prudence. Now to the question, I would have a summer home by the beach get built. Just watching the sun set over the horizon looking forward restless to the next day, it's where my appreciation for independence and freedom meets with my love of nature in a happy union. My brother and my found family - friends and loved ones - are always welcome to come to my doorstep where we can take it all in together.

bright vachirawit, bisexual, male + he/him ― hey look, it’s danny thanonchai! they’re twenty-four years old, they’ve lived in shrike heights for a month, and they’re currently working at claire’s. i heard they’re pretty self-centered, but i think they’re so easy going at the same time. can they make it out alive?
— STATS
BIRTH NAME :  daniel thanonchai ALIAS  /  NICKNAME :  dan, danny AGE :  twenty-four DATE  OF  BIRTH : february 22, 1964 PLACE OF BIRTH : los angeles, california EDUCATION : high school graduate, college dropout OCCUPATION :  claire’s  FACECLAIM : bright vachirawit
POSITIVE  TRAITS :  easy-going, sociable, independent NEGATIVE TRAITS : self-centered, inconsiderate, facetious
— BASICS
born in LA, daniel was never cut out for small-town, cookie-cutter suburban living. it was a relatively normal childhood, not counting the endless fights between his parents. when they decided to separate, nobody wasn’t surprised in the slightest. with most of his family having come from LA, danny decided it was best to stay in the city.
getting a high school diploma was one thing, but danny learned early that school just wasn’t for him. it was a given that he was one of the first in his family to attend college and, by some miracle, he’d managed to get into UCLA by the skin of his teeth.
the first few years had been challenging, but it didn’t help that danny had practically given up on school altogether. after one too many academic notices, he was on the brink of failing out of his classes. could anyone blame him for cheating on a few exams? the dean seemed to think so. danny was promptly kicked out of college and buried in debt.
with no job prospects or fallbacks, he had taken a few odd jobs to make ends meet. never mind that his mother could barely even look at him. his father, on the other hand, had gone radio silent without so much as a call.
worried, danny dropped everything (which wasn’t much) and tracked his father to colorado where he’d been living in some hippy commune. as boring as shrike is, danny figures that he’ll stay long enough to convince his dad to move out of a town with one too many serial killers. or, maybe cookie-cutter suburban living was just the fresh start he was looking for. either way, at least he doesn’t have to deal with the traffic while he’s there.

Session 24 Notes - “Fragments” - 12-4-22
-”Y’all went into Woodvale and whipped that shit into shape in three business days.”
Tumblr media
-Confirming that the Inner World “security system” is a benevolent force
-It was made of glass, and can be easily pierced if desired
-There also seems to be layers of security
-It is protective at the heart
-Ellie went too far and returning with that information was a “security risk”
-IT IS FRIDAY IN GAME -- maybe around 11 AM
-Sabrina Lowry - automatons, electronic organic enhancement → Stout LLC → Wesley Stout
-They seem to do a lot of charity work
-Wesley is a goliath! He is partially a cyborg himself
-He seems like a rich old philanthropist
-Sabrina has like a three month stint at KT on her resume
-Vivellie have pitched the idea of a jewelry line, produced in WV, where they could keep all the profits in order to help fund them in this independent period → Rose and The Thorn
-She pitched it to her onlyfans and then also using her general influence and got a pretty good response back! Enough for at least a short run line
-Folks from TLS are sharing the initial announcement :)
Tumblr media
-Cass is looking for rhodium at the Dump
-Rhodium is a real life metal
-Ellie is trying to collaborate with Riley Smith on the line, quite genuinely trying to involve her
-To give her something that’s not evil to focus on lol
-The Woodvale Avengers have been assembled at the Town Hall → (Straight) Ezra, (Woodvale) Ellie, Judd, Jamieson, Riley, and Ms. Moody
-Cass wants WV to be the sole producers of magical product
-She then went into a lesson, trying to revitalize magic in the Woodvalians
-The first time she felt magic was when she was just trying to build something. Being creative
-Ellie and Naomi are TA’s (using detect magic to look for sparks of magic)
-Woodvale Ellie is sparking working on a crochet blanket → pastel rainbow blanket with black heart trim → this magic registers as divine
-Riley is making a garish brooch (I think Sarah said: “It’s very…her style.”) with the help of Ellie, there is also a divine spark here
-Judd is making a tiny robot doggy
Tumblr media
-Jamieson is making a folding telescope (most likely for his classroom)
-Ezra is making camping tools? Something practical and sleek
Tumblr media
-WV Ellie’s blanket retains some of its magic
-Cass is now leading a lecture on the mending cantrip!
-Naomi + VE clock that Cass is wearing a new ring with an inset dusty violet gemstone -- set in what looks like a different metal (not iron)
-With the guidance from Cass, everyone in the room is able to cast mending!! Including VE!! There is dusty violet magic surrounding everyone’s fingertips as they cast
Tumblr media
-The magic feels different, there is a blip of divine echolocation that VE has been trying to tap into
-Ellie and Jamieson are going crazy (celebrating)
-Everyone is very excited generally!
-Cass wanted to use this as a pilot to start developing product that could help carve a niche for WV in magical manufacturing
-WE GOT KEYS TO THE CITY! (Grants advantage on charisma rolls regarding Woodvale)
-Charlie Smith also give us keys to a bright red truck
-The blanket that WV Ellie made lets someone get a long rest in four, makes them feel like they’re wrapped in a warm hug
-Ms. Moody gave us three greater healing potions and then a dozen cookies that each grant 1d4 temp HP when eaten (can only eat three in one sitting)
-Upon going back down into the Mines, all of the Dodder plants are dead. We got in there and fully de-weeded despite this
-After the energy from the crystal doesn’t feel as…desperate. Volatile
-The Ezras are about to take a road trip
-Ezra and Cass are flirting :)
-We called Dandy to come pick us up, he teleported into the middle of town
-He then bought a fuck ton of stuff from Lydia’s
-In the Vanguard Room at TLS
-TC + HL had a long standing partnership, based on research
-The partnership was “officially” (as in, what people in the know are saying) cut off due to the mismanagement of funds, finances being incorrectly handled
-From experience, Danny noted that TC usually cuts of partnerships when they start to cost them more than it will benefit (something shifted)
-Mabe TC is moving in a different direction than the AV? Is this good or deeply terrifying?
-The partnership being ended is less about the funds and more about the access -- cash flow is not usually the issue with players like these
Tumblr media
-Sterling loves to underestimate me
-Still laughing at ROBERT Kirruk
-Sterling gets good vibes from Wesley Stout, has received parts from him in the past
-Sterling and Danny are working to quietly rebuild the Vanguard network
-Asking about Dr. H and the AV -- Sterling said that she wanted it back because she would be A danger and in danger without it. “It could cost everything,” She said.
-The new ring is made of rhodium, has a similar purpose to the old one, but different/better vibes? There is something to this
-Cass made Ellie’s backpack a bag of holding
-Cass is beginning to upgrade Watts with rhodium (literally what is rhodium, why is she a main character now)
-Going out and everyone is wearing wigs
-Viv - light green
-Naomi - platinum blonde
-Cass - pale yellow
-Everything is good with Xane and the Temple of Coranimas
-We check on Heather and Hexanna at Helion, they seem well!
-Making outfits for the fragment exhibit
-Viv makes a slightly see through stained glass inspired gown, strong shoulders, black undies that are SLIGHTLY visible, silver boots
-On the way to the exhibit, we checked on The Dungeon and Naomi’s Apartment, both of which seemed untouched
-The exhibit is at The Perception’s Gallery of Modern Art, in a downtown wealthy area
-The downtown is brutalist and ugly
-We can see the TC building looming over us
-Damien is wearing a flowing, sheer, men’s blouse type moment with a mirrorball inspired corset
-Sapho and Chanel are here!
-Vesper is also here!
-There are suits here
-They noticed us
-There are four, with one acting as sort of “ring leader” it seems
-A badge revels that they are with TC
-The ring leader/alpha seemed to recognize us, tipped his drink to Cass
Tumblr media
-Viv is the subject of one the portraits, photography
-Some of Damien’s favorite art students are strewn about
-Dime, Jimmy and Violet are here, Viv disrespected Violet on the way to say hi to her friends
-Asking Damien about the suits, Fleur apparently invited them. Damien calls Florence and Fleur over to talk about it
-Fleur reveals thAT THE RINGLEADER SUIT IS KIRRUK
Tumblr media
-We’ve been made??
-Fleur and Kirruk are colleagues? Have one work together in the past?
-Kirruk has a Woodvale Accent → “from down south” ha ha ha
-Viv is playing games with Kirruk: “You’re on my list of people to meet, but you’re a tricky devil to track down.” →  “We’ve heard about the recent dissolution of a partnership…yeah, it was quite surprising to hear that Techrono has cut the partnership with Helix Labs.”
-Kirruk said that Helix Labs is sloppy, need some time to mature in order to be a better partner
-Fleur seemed just the smallest bit surprised that we knew about the partnership ending
-Everyone is digging in, however she’s extremely hard to read
-I rolled a nat 20, a 27 total, though
-Fleur is playing dumb! She is “magically deferring the knowledge” (?)
-She definitely knew that TC+HL split, was surprised that WE knew → evil, evil, evil, could explain Dr. H’s AV
-Fleur does “freelance work” and has done some for TC a few years ago, and she and Kirruk have been friends ever since
Tumblr media
-Cass tried to out Kirruk (as a member of the TC board)
-GAMES ARE EXTREMELY BEING PLAYED
Tumblr media
-The Main Fragments Exhibit
-A room shrouded in magical darkness, holding hands. There are pinpricks of light, kind of like stars, but containing a reflective surface. Everyone sees something different
-Cass- should be a reflection, instead sees a memory of tinkering on Watts
-Naomi- sees the embers of a fire about to go out
-Vivellie- see the performance from TLS a few days ago (session 8)
-Going around and looking at different fragments shows different memories
-The magic reminds Naomi vaguely of the Baptism reflecting pools
-There is a slight glow as the lights start to rise, reflections in a mirror are starting to become visible
-Naomi- sees Dark Naomi in here “first form” (whatever scary shit that means)
-Cass- sees herself AND Dark Cass, although she is a bit mess menacing, creates a muddy reflection
-Vivellie- multiple versions of the self, glitching over one another. Viv, Ellie, and The Primadonna
-Naomi asked DN about the fragments, the memories. DN says she has memory gaps from when they were separated
-Cass touched one of the fragments and iT SHATTERED?
-The exhibit is done and we are getting the FUCK out of there
Tumblr media
-Are we being followed?
-Heading directly to the Lavender Society to talk to Dandy, ask him about Fleur and explain that she is apparently friends with a TC board member
-At this point, I think I called her Fleur Holloway and Sarah corrected me, saying that Fleur didn’t take Dr. H’s last name. Her name is Fleur Faecyne
-Fleur Faecyne
-Naomi checking her memory banks from research remembered that there are fae communities in the Wild Lands
-She also translated the name from Sylvan, its meaning basically equating with “John Doe” → it’s a nothing name. Most likely a fake name
-She could potentially be a full blooded fae, she seems to adhere to many of their cultural aspects
-Dandy has suspected she is a lot more powerful than she lets on -- (in my brain) potentially an aRCHFEY?
-Florence’s AV was acquired during their marriage (infection maybe a few years ago, and they’ve been married for about ten)
-”The worst thing I’ve seen from her is boredom.” - Dandy on Fleur
-”It feels particularly pointed” that Fleur invited Kirruk to the exhibit - Dandy’s thoughts
Tumblr media
-Sam brain blast moment
Tumblr media
(From Session 12, updated with current information in parenthesis)
-There are least 5 members of the Techrono Board of Directors
-Helen Smith (CEO, #confirmed)
-Robert Kirruk (Finances, #confirmed)
-Someone in charge of science? (Potentially used to be Dr. Celadon Hunt although the recent partnership dissolution suggests she’s been ousted. Likely due to her mishandling us?)
-A marketing/PR head (Fleur. Seemingly has endless money and connections. Referred to Kirruk as a colleague. Was surprised we knew about the TC+HL break up because we literally uncovered her cover up. Also explains why Dr. H begged for the AV to be reimplanted.)
-One unknown
-Fleur is likely on the board for marketing and PR. Sam has cracked the case.

The true story of mountain climber Aron Ralston's remarkable adventure to save himself after a fallen boulder crashes on his arm and traps him in an isolated canyon in Utah. The true story of outdoorsman and hiker Aron Ralston, whose spontaneous solo trek in the desert almost killed him, made for a riveting memoir. But it was thought unfilmable, given that Aron ends up trapped and alone in a crevice, his arm pinned by a boulder and his existence suddenly reduced to a sliver of a world. There’s not a soul who knows he’s there. James Franco plays Ralston in 127 Hours (2010), Danny Boyle’s film of his story. What Boyle and Franco offer isn’t so much a film as a cinema stunt, a technical exercise in making inherently uncinematic material interesting and compelling. Boyle and co-screenwriter Simon Beaufoy find interesting ways to open up an inherently internal experience 127 Hours is as much a character study as a survival thriller, the story of a man who isn’t alienated from the world so much as purposefully disconnected. He’s a smart and prepared outdoorsman, good at what he does and well-stocked with equipment and supplies. But his determination to be utterly self-sufficient and free, a man living for the moment without emotional ties to tether him, also leads him into his very predicament. In his arrogance, he never bothers to tell anyone where he was going. And once he realizes that he is truly alone, with no one on the way to save him, he starts to take stock of what his emotional distance has cost him. Ralston’s ordeal became a major news story and he barnstormed the country to promote his best-selling memoir, so the climax is no surprise to many. It’s just old enough, however, that many others will come upon the film with no such knowledge so in the interest of spoilers, we’ll keep it under wraps. Just know that what could have been a gruesome or brutal sequence is handled respectfully and dramatically. The subtext of emotional isolation and disconnection is somewhat contrived and not completely convincing but the lesson is heartfelt and the experience is vivid. While Franco dominates, it’s not entirely a one-person show. Kate Mara and Amber Tamblyn play hikers he meets on his weekend escape and Treat Williams, Kate Burton, Clémence Poésy, and Lizzy Caplan costar. It was nominated for six Academy Awhref='https://vidootv.me/watch/Movie/42413/127-hours/1/1'>Watch Free Full 127 Hoursards, including best picture, actor (for James Franco), and adapted screenplay, and eight BAFTAs, and Franco won for best actor at the Film Independent Spirit Awards. Constantine: His Rogues Gallery includes Minor Gods! What is wrong with you people?! // Danny: What do you mean? I don't fight Minor Go- *(thinks about Undergrowth, Vortex, and Nocturne)* Okay so I see where you're coming from. But I'm sure you guys have dealt with the type before and tbh Undergrowth just can't handle the cold. So just get a Freeze Ray or get Superman to breathe on him and everything'll be good.
I actually haven't really thought much about the concept of his enemies being minor gods but like you right they are
even if only by legend, the ghost zone is full of natural portals that open up into different time periods, these ghosts may not even be as old as the legends about them are, they've just jumped through enough portals and wreaked enough havoc to make names for themselves among a variety of cultures, they may have even changed forms a few times (as we know ghosts can sometimes do) which gave people the impression that they were different gods
not to mention some of the ghosts were ripped directly out of mythology, Pandora for one, her legend is way different from the real thing, likely due to history's classic game of telephone fucking everything up
then there's the question of if they are actually literal gods or were just mistaken for them, ghosts born from the dead are different than ghosts born of the ghost zone
I like to adopt the concept of poltergeists, spirits created from an amalgamation of emotion verses the independent soul/spirit/personality of someone who died
so the Far Frozen in my eyes was a civilisation created by the collection of human curiosity, they are essentially knowledge spirits who have grown their own culture, there are many of them due to scholars and education systems often relying on the experiences of many, teaching each other and engaging in discussion in order to understand things better, there are likely many different yetis with different specific interests, new yetis coming into being when more humans discover new things, they could all be considered minor gods based on their individual interests, and many have likely travelled through portals in an opportunistic field trip to learn, and due to their appearance and seemingly omniscient knowledge, have been associated as a god of their particular field of study
Undergrowth I like to imagine is a new spirit, born only recently with the rise of general frustration and anger by current generations over the destruction of the planet's environment and ecosystems, he is an amalgamation of the energy that would be produced at climate rallies and protests
Nocturne is also born of a combined human experience, that of course being dreams, he is probably one of the oldest spirits in human existence, his journeys in and out of natural portals would have inspired legends like that of the sandman and the greek god Morpheus, his recent rise to power may have been caused by a gradual incline of insomnia among people, the more desperation for sleep feeding into Nocturne's drastic behaviour
Vortex was also likely to be an old god, born of a time when people believed the weather to be made by gods and not simply a natural event, he's one I like to think has changed appearance many times over the years, he has hopped back and forth through portals, and his personality changes like the weather (ha ha) depending on the people who would pray to him and give offerings for rain to water their crops, in which case he would come and bring rain because it's what people believe he will do, or when an extreme natural weather event happens and people believe the gods to be angry and vengeful, in which case he would become angry and vengeful, in his episode during the show, I believe he showed up destructive because there had been a recent natural disaster somewhere in the world where the culture believed their god to be responsible, it wouldn't matter which god, Vortex would always be the one to embody that belief, as long it was associated with the weather
so I think it would be apt to refer to these native born ghosts created by pieces of human consciousness as minor gods, as they cannot truly be destroyed unless humans as a whole stopped feeling or thinking or believing in whatever initially created them, Nocturne cannot be permanently destroyed because people will always dream, Undergrowth can't be destroyed as long as people still feel fury over the destruction of the environment, but his behaviour could be altered if humans became more sustainable in the future and the general frustration and anger over environmental destruction waned, Vortex may actually have lost much of his power over time as fewer and fewer people blamed gods or spirits for the weather, if that belief ever disappeared entirely, so would he
even regular human born ghosts could even reach minor god status if they become a known figure, Pandora may have been human once, but in death became famous from her legend (inaccurate though it has become), and as a result became quite powerful, I also think she represents more than one deity, I think she likely also is believed to be the goddess Soteria (greek goddess of protection and safety, due to her role as the guardian of the Box), and so that belief also fuels her power, despite humanity believing those two identities to be seperate beings, however I don't believe she would be susceptible to a change in personality like natural born deities are since she already had a personality and a sense of identity to begin with, but her abilities and the power she wields may be altered by public perception
and to leap off of THAT point, we reach the idea that Danny is a very famously known ghost that many people believe in, many people love him, like Pandora he is a protector and a guardian, and so his ability to protect is boosted by that, much like a deity who is powered by worship, he himself has inadvertently become a minor god
and he also happens to be close friends with a MAJOR God, a God with a capital G, one who has existed before humans, existed before earth, he gained a physical manifestation as humans began to understand time as a concept, this, of course, being Clockwork, who happens to be responsible for every minor god's interaction with the human world because he controls the time periods in which the natural portals open, hence why so many portals were opening in ancient greece, because Clockwork had determined that their mythology was important to the future for whatever reason, I mean greek myths are still well known by today's standards and that must have been important enough for Clockwork to ensure it happened that way
he puts a lot of focus on Danny's development because he will become something incredibly significant to history, which is why other superheroes reeeeaaaally need to step back and mind their own god damn business, I can just imagine Clockwork popping in on Constantine and stressing the absolute importance of Danny being left alone
and then Constantine has to go chew out the Justice League because THE LITERAL GOD OF TIME SAID YOU NEED TO S T O P

DannyMay 2022 Day 3: College Years - “Lonely”
Category: General
Rating: General Audiences
Summary:  College was weird. That was about the only conclusion Danny could really come to.
AO3
College was weird.
That was about the only conclusion Danny could really come to. He’d been there for a year and a half, and he didn’t think he’d ever get used to it. In a way, he didn’t think he wanted to get used to it. College was noisy, it was chaotic, it was drinking and partying to the point that people would be asleep in lectures or just miss them entirely. He’d been to a few parties, had tried to join in the fun, but the second that the alcohol began to dull his senses, his muscles would tense and he’d have to discard the plastic cup he’d been drinking from before he went into a full-blown panic.
Jazz would have a field day with that whole mess. He could practically hear her psychoanalyzing his obvious fear of being out of control, how his obsession probably fed into it, how he really should try to relax.
But how the hell could he relax? After all these years, ghosts still came through regularly, bringing chaos and havoc and problems with them. It was honestly a good thing that Amity Park’s college was small and mostly attended by those from Amity Park who didn’t want to go far from home to study. There weren’t really many outsiders, maybe one or two per year, but not enough to have to deal with a mass hysteria breaking out every year when a ghost attacked at the start of the first semester. There were only ever a few newbies, and they’d all made friends with an Amity Park-er, who would talk them through it, hand them a Fenton wrist ray, and move on without any further fanfare. It ended with either them adjusting quickly, or them running for the hills and transferring to a different college. It wasn’t something he’d ever had to intervene in, thankfully.
He enjoyed his classes, to an extent. When he could get to them. Lucky for him, College wasn’t as strict as high-school. They didn’t care as much if you ran out in the middle of a lecture; he could catch up in independent study, and he did. His classmates were… fine. It was a small class, a few of his old high-school contemporaries and two outsiders. There were three to start with, but John had fled when Technus had tried to hack into the college database a month into first semester. He didn’t have to deal with Dash, gone far away to pursue his football scholarship, and while Kwan had stayed, he was mellower without the blond and left Danny be.
His sleep schedule was no better than high school, even though he’d gotten better at time management, had learned how to cram homework time into five-minute segments between ghost attacks. But ghosts still didn’t care what time it was for him when they attacked; some of them probably still thought he’d ignore them at night, despite all evidence to the contrary.
It was fine. Weird, but fine. Except for one thing…
The unbearable loneliness.
He’d all but demanded that Tucker, Sam and Jazz go to the colleges that were best for their chosen subjects - Amity Park College was mediocre in all areas - and while it had taken a while to fully convince them, they’d all eventually agreed, purely because they could tell he’d never let go of the guilt if they stayed in Amity for him. But that meant he had nobody during term-time. His parents had tried to fill in; they tried to get him to stay at home instead of in student halls, they tried to organise weekly get togethers (though they frequently forgot and Danny frequently had to cancel so at best he saw them once every month - besides when he stayed over for the holidays). But his parents just weren't a substitute for his friends and sister.
It wasn’t as if he never spoke to them, but it was snatches of time in the evenings or weekends, an hour or two at most. It wasn’t enough to fill that little gauge in his mind labeled ‘people give a shit about you’.
At various times, and at various levels of frequency, they’d all suggested he try and make friends with his hall-mates, those who shared a kitchen with him in the crumbling and damp-riddled student building on campus. And he had tried. He’d attended parties with them, only to be mocked for not drinking. He’d joined them for movie nights, only to have to dash out when his ghost sense went off, which didn’t exactly endear him to people.
Jazz had suggested that he wasn’t connecting well with them because he couldn’t be fully open with them about who he was. She likened it to the social distance that grew between a closeted LGBTQ+ person before they came out to their family and friends, and Danny had ground his teeth together in irritation, as if he didn’t already know about that feeling.
He’d toyed with the idea of gathering his hall-mates together and telling them the truth, had slowly tried to work himself up to it, rationalizing every possible bad situation out. As Halloween of his second year at college loomed, he began to plan out his ‘coming out’ as Phantom, pretending he was dressing up as him for Halloween, before actually using his ghost powers and changing back with a ‘surprise!’ and a flourish.
But then he saw the shrine.
———
He’d just got home after a long stint in the library trying to finish a paper to the sounds of excitable murmurs coming from the kitchen.
“Hey, that must be Danny.” Came the voice of Andrew, one of the outsiders who had stayed. He poked his head out from the kitchen to confirm, and beamed at the raven haired boy. “You wanna come help with this?” He vanished back into the kitchen before Danny could ask what ‘this’ was. He shrugged and moved past his door towards the kitchen, curiosity getting the better of his tired brain.
He rounded the corner to see all three of his hallmates - Andrew, Star and Abigail - knelt in front of a display that unnerved him to a massive degree. It was like the shrine Paulina had once set up in her locker to ‘inviso-bill’ back in freshman year of highschool, but so much more elaborate. Candles were set up in a cascading formation down several wooden boxes - clearly hand-made judging by the rough craftsmanship. The boxes were painted black with bright green and white ghostly runes painted on them. The runes were gibberish, just random symbols the group had managed to pull together, nothing resembling a declaration or even a single word. It made him think of those chinese tattoos people got where they thought it meant something like ‘honour’ but actually just said ‘rice cake’ or something. Countless pictures of him were strewn around the shrine, hanging on the kitchen wall, sitting beside the boxes in frames, and one massive picture of him from the one time he’d actually posed for the press was blown up to an A3 image with strings of green fairy lights dangling from it and following the edges of the boxes.
“What do you think? We figured, like, since it’s Halloween, this might get Phantom to like us or something.” Star explained, her eyes bright with a familiar devotion that he’d only seen on a few faces before. It made his heart and core sink in his chest, suddenly weighing a million tonnes.
“Uh… Are you sure he wouldn’t just find it creepy?” Danny muttered, only for three pairs of eyes to stare at him in disbelief and confusion.
Abigail crossed her arms over her chest with a huff. “Why would he find it creepy? We made it specially for him, with ghost runes and everything.” Gibberish ghost runes, you didn’t do any research, didn’t even try and understand what you were doing. He thought, bitterly.
“Why though?” Danny asked, trying to ignore the unease that crept over his skin. At least it’s not a summoning circle. He tried to comfort himself. It didn’t really help.
“Well, we wanna meet him obviously! He’s so cool. Like a real life superhero.” Andrew gushed. Danny cringed. It was the sort of praise he’d once longed for, when he was a naive kid who didn’t understand what fame like that meant. The parasocial aspects had swiftly made themselves apparent though, as people had increasingly put him on a pedestal. What was that phrase? Never meet your heroes. He knew he’d be nothing but a disappointment to the people who idolised him this way. Because he’d met ‘phans’ and it had always ended in disappointment and anger that he wasn’t the perfect poster boy they’d dreamed up in their heads.
He gulped. “Well, you guys have fun with that. I’m kinda drained from writing up my essay, so I’ll see you later.” He’d left before he could see how they reacted to his clear discomfort.
Once the door to his room was shut, he locked it and dumped his bag on the floor. He let out a long sigh and moved forward to flop unceremoniously onto his bed, pulling out his phone.
‘I can’t tell my hallmates the truth.’ He typed in the group chat, before burying his face in his pillow.
———
He hadn’t read the replies from his friends or his sister that night, nor had he answered any of their calls. He’d been glad when his ghost sense had gone off, and Ember had streaked through the sky like a comet. He’d followed her and through a long fight, he’d basically used her as therapy; it was a sort of pattern to the scraps he had with certain ghosts. If he’d had a bad day, he’d take it out on them, and vice versa. It wasn’t healthy, and because of that he refused to tell Jazz about it. But it helped him. It helped them.
It made him feel slightly less alone, to know that if Johnny, or Ember, or even Technus came through the portal, that he could at least trade wits with them, having clipped caricatures of conversations. It was better than nothing. It was better than weighing down his living loved ones with the baggage of his selfish emotions.
He never admitted to them that he was lonely; always insisted he preferred the peace of being on his own. They saw through it, but he pretended not to notice, pretended that he was only going along with their ideas of how he might make friends to get them to shut up.
At this point though, he couldn’t even muster up the effort to pretend anymore. Everyone in Amity Park had formed an opinion on Phantom; hero or villain. There was no inbetween, no space for nuance, or reality. So how could he have ever expected to make a new friend who he could tell? He couldn’t. The second he told someone he was Phantom, it would be all hero-worship (followed by resentment when they realized he wasn’t some perfect being) or vehement hatred and attacks. It wasn’t worth it.
He tried not to think about the future, about whether Sam, Tucker and Jazz would choose to anchor themselves to Amity Park alongside him. A part of him didn’t want them to, didn’t want to give them that burden.
But he was so lonely…

(The borderlands anon from however long ago)
So, I finished watching the show a couple days ago, because there were a couple things that showed up consistently in fics i that I didn’t understand (blood blossoms, some of the baddies, a handful of fenton inventions, etc)
First off, I still very much prefer pitch pearl to amethyst ocean or whatever the hell it’s called
And also, do you know where pitch pearl as a ship came from? I know there’s the episode with fun and super, but is that all there really was? Or were there more early fandom headcannons that supported them as separate beings?
Hello again! Sorry this took so long, I wasn’t sure how to answer 😅
Canon did a poor job with AO. I would even say it did it dirty, but it's popular enough it doesn't need that kind of support lol. If you really want to give it a fair shake I’d recommend reading fanfiction for it, but I understand everyone’s preferences are different. I personally don’t ship it because shipping best friends is something I have real issues with, but it’s not a bad ship if you want something that’s soft and makes you feel all warm inside.
Onto pitch pearl tho!
Tbh, I’m not entirely sure myself how pitch pearl as a ship started. I don’t believe it was because of the Fun and Super episode, largely because those two are rarely used in the ship.
I asked someone else, and they thought that moment in What You Want when Phantom was first torn from Fenton as this colorless ghost might have been what started the concept they weren’t one whole person. Because, honestly? This ship goes far, FAR back. A lot of the older fics made Phantom into a voice in Danny’s head or a spirit that could separate from him at will without the need of the Ghost Catcher in order to offer Danny comfort. They had no rules because there weren’t any set way yet. The fact that Phantom could move and think independently from Danny was enough to get people thinking. It wasn't all romantic, most of it was borderline at best. They mostly focused on hurt/comfort and self-love, finding a balance between human and ghost with the occasional kiss thrown in.
Then there’s TUE, where Danny meets his evil future self and learns that his ghost half killed his human half after merging with Plasmius. It definitely gave more credence to the idea there might be more to Danny’s ghost half than simply having ghost powers. It aired before Identity Crisis, so it set the stage with a BOOM and had a much bigger impact on the ship. Phantom being seen as his own person is a bit more credible when he’s willing to kill Danny. It helped that TUE was a VERY popular episode. It drew in a huge crowd, and everyone was curious about what made the ghost half snap like that if he’s supposed to be Danny.
Supporting that idea is that a lot of the older art and fics took a darker view of Phantom in general, seeing him as Danny’s darker half or a ghost out for revenge after being imprisoned for so long. Even the name “pitch pearl” was created with that in mind. I always thought of it as “white hair/black hair” in the same vein as AO taking inspiration from Sam’s purple eyes and Danny’s blue, but when I went searching for the origins for the name, the old explanation set Danny Fenton as white pearl and Phantom as pitch black. The reasoning for that was partly their jumpsuits pre- and post- accident, but also because Fenton is human and “pure” while Phantom is a ghost and dangerous--because without Fenton, Phantom became Dan and destroyed everything.
For obvious and somewhat personal reasons, I don’t subscribe to that. But it does make all the art where Phantom looks evil while holding Danny make sense. I don’t like dark romance, and I’m personally thrilled we moved away from such a dark beginning, but it likely had a hand in the early popularity of pitch pearl.
If I were to guess how else it started when the source has them as one person, I would say it was most likely the fanart? Putting Fenton and Phantom side-by-side has a yin-yang appeal, and when they interact in art, you get the sense that these are two characters, not one. This was really popular when the fandom was much bigger than it is now.
For instance
Tumblr media
Save Our Soul by nycken isn't a shipping piece by any means, but it could very easily give rise to the idea, especially if someone is new to the fandom.
They did not shy away from it being a self-cest ship back then, though. The idea that Phantom wasn't Danny was there, but I don't think anyone looked for evidence in the show to support it. That seems to be something the ship has evolved into rather than something it started from, and it is honestly my favorite way to see it.
I do have many headcanons about how they aren’t the same person in canon if you're interested! There’s the out of sync transformations, the title sequence and how Super and Fun are shown to separate in the Identity Crisis episode, Vlad’s inability to clone Danny, the way Danny talks to himself, just all kinds of things! If you want to hear more about those I'd be happy to answer 😁 (they'd probably be easier too lol)
But yeah, I think it was TUE and fanart. There may have been other factors (I think this was around the time Yu-Gi-Oh and puzzleshipping was popular too) because fandom doesn't exist in a vacuum, but I really couldn't say for sure. It's a ship that means different things for everyone who ships it. I like the psychological questions when they start off as "one" (the bonded peeps version) and enjoy the aus like soooo much, but others like it only for aus, and others like it as a crack ship, and then there are even others who like it as something dangerous. Some people love it for Fun and Super in Identity Crisis because they're just fun caricatures. It's hard to find the origin point when it has so many branches lol
