So what if I told y'all that this is actually a "Moon's paranoia" arc? And what if showrunners hint that Sun will try to help or reach out to Eclipse behind Moon's back.. and they hint that with Moon's words that he trust Sun?
Cause let me tell you something. I've watched many shows and movies to know that this line reminds me of that type of foreshadowing in which one character says "we'll meet again" but they never had the chance to meet again because that other character dies. You know what I mean, right?
So with Moon saying that he trusts Sun - it's not the first time when he says that btw cause he told Earth that he trusts Sun with his life - and Moon being more and more paranoid, I have a heavy suspicion that Moon will stop trusting even Sun..
But ofc it won't be like that that Moon will abandon Sun or anything like that.. He most definitely will be mad at Sun.. but I think that this is what may lead to Moon locking Sun on the island..
Moon really acts paranoid. Some of you may not believe me but what Moon is doing is something that paranoid person would do. What I mean is that Moon devides what informations he shares with whom. No one receives full picture. Only Moon holds all the cards all the time.
Cause look at what he did. He decided to not tell any info to Solar at the moment, right? He did the same thing with not telling anything to Sun and Lunar before. But he eventually told them everything, right? Yes and this is another thing that hints to Moon being paranoid.. because he is the one who always shares things with others. It let's him feel in control of situation.
"Everything is fine as long as I keep my finger on the pulse"..
Getting back to Moon locking Sun on the island. Moon would obviously think that this would be the best for Sun. To keep Sun safe. Even from Sun himself.. or maybe especially from Sun himself.. because remember what I wrote in this post !
I think that everything is adding up nicely. Like many people were wondering about the purpose of Evil Sun's appearance in the show, thinking that maybe he's behind Eclipse's return. But it doesn't make any sense because E Sun doesn't have any agenda to meddle with our dimension. There weren't given any hints that our dimension has anything to offer to E Sun (yet, obvi lol)..
That's why I think that they made Moon go there so he could get paranoid for legit reasons and not out of the blue. Also it's important to do a good build up for rising paranoia in character for it to be more believable..
And most of the time paranoia is piling up before it'll reach a critical point when person snaps and starts doing things that endangers their and their family lives. It never starts right off the bat..
Paranoia is no joke. It messes with your mind badly.. especially if you feed your paranoid thoughts!
I'm saying that from personal experiences. I'm still struggling with paranoid thoughts. Who's read that one post of mine then knows what I'm talking about 😅
Also it might be actually just like @nightixx (hope you don't mind that I tagged you) said in one of their posts that Moon is probably realising to what lengths Sun is willing to go to protect his family. Maybe Moon actually sees that Sun can and would probably put himself in danger in order to keep his family safe. And maybe Moon actually suspect Sun to act behind his back and maybe even he may suspect that Sun may try to give Eclipse a chance just like he did with BM.
Cause Moon isn't stupid. He might not be the best with reading emotions etc but I won't doubt that he is quite observant. Like even Old Moon was noticing that something was wrong with Sun but unfortunately he didn't do much to help.
I think that New Moon is probably noticing that something is wrong with Sun as well. But unlike Old Moon he'll do something about it. He'll keep Sun safe no matter what. And why I think that Moon may be suspecting that Sun may try to give Eclipse a chance? Because I think that in Moon's eyes Sun is too nice, too naive, too stupid - he learned that in Ruin's dimension when Sun wanted to help that dimension so badly and he learned that with how Sun tried to give BM a chance.. Both of these situations were dangerous and yet Sun was willing to help and act on his kindness even if it meant endangering himself.. Moon sees that. I think that Moon realises that Sun is the biggest threat to himself...
Also I think that it's very possible that Moon may suspect that Sun will act behind his back because Sun already lied to him about that whole being a conduit for star's power thing which like Moon said was killing Sun every day..
And important thing to note is that paranoia may induce a hypervigilance in someone. Which explains why someone who is paranoid plans things in advance and with suspicion that others will break their trust.
Old Moon was paranoid af.. and we can see that New Moon starts becoming more and more paranoid as well...
But like I said it'll most definitely end up with Moon restricting Sun's freedom in order to prevent him from endangering himself. Which I'm afraid will lead to a tragedy.

midoriya analysis because im fucking insane and hes insane
Midoriya analysis because I'm fucking insane and he's insane
Ps i won't be covering the movies bc I like to leave them as their own entities
pps this contains spoilers
god okay so we all know that Midoriya has SOME kinda issue because... yk.... he was literally bullied and abused by his peers physically, emotionally, and mentally for all of his formative years and that's gonna FUCK SOMEONE UPPPP
but but but Midoriya so so obvi has a thing for escapism!!!! yeah, his quirk thing started before he was diagnosed as quirkless and then abused, but did you see how intense it got after he was abused??? how that was literally all he spent his time doing and how it was the only thing he was known for?? AND THEN. HE MEETS HIS IDOL WHO CRUSHES HIS LAST HOPE. and then said idol proceeds to try and build up an already destroyed boy (it doesn't work) because THEN we see even more escapism in UA because they make it so clear Midoriya spends so much time training and pushing himself to be a better hero because it's the only way he knows how to be useful and escape away from his reality of believing that's he's really not worth all that he's been given. Btw pls dont say that “midoriya is just ideally heroic he doesn't have a hero complex” this is an analysis for my opinion ty
Midoriya can be viewed as a narcissist for many reasons as well but that is because he's a product of his environment. Honestly there's ways to show midoriya has a hero complex, is a narcissist, has self esteem issues, has a superiority complex, and more. Im slapping midoriya and going “This bad boy can fit sooo many issues it him”
Another btw before you continue reading: I have really bad adhd and halfway through this forgot what I was writing about so my points get super blurry but I just wanted to state it here. I believe midoriya has severe self esteem issues and a hero complex. I can explain why concisely if anyone asks!
Going by arcs now because I need some order to follow and regretfully can't just throw my thoughts about Midoriya at a wall and hope they stick (I will happily just spout nonsense at anyone who wants to listen):
Pre ua-
Most of this I already covered in the above paragraph but I still wanna break down why Midoriya's childhood set him up for a hero complex and a love of escapism. As mentioned before, Midoriya has always had a love for analysis and heroes but it got much more intense after he experienced large bouts of trauma. You can see him isolating himself and getting completely absorbed into his analysis in multiple parts of the pre-UA sections of bnha. His hero complex stems from the fact that there genuinely was no one to save Midoriya. Because he knows what it's like to be alone without help, he takes it upon himself to save people (he basically says this himself too like my god this boy's hero complex is so so clear). Not to mention the fact that his abuser has been called a hero throughout his formative years. like….god….
All might training-
And THEN all might destroys his dream by telling him he can't be a hero then LEAVES. Midoriya has not had a single good personal hero at this point. Like even his own mother doesn’t save him from this blatantly obvious abuse. So midoriya is just like. Left there to evaluate everything being broken in his life when he falls back on his escapism aka he walks to the scene of a hero feet because “[his] feet carried him [there]” ARE YOU KIDDING ME. he is literally doing something that brings him joy on autopilot. As a response to being told he can't do his life long goal by his idol. Following that he sees bakugou in pain and trouble and this is like right when the hero complex forms. The entire ‘feet moved before you can think’ IS NOT A GOOD THING!!!! He has NO self-preservation in this moment. AND THE ALL MIGHT PRAISES HIM FOR IT. literally cementing his hero complex as a ‘positive’ thing and not at all the self destructive thing it actually is.
Following this all might tells midoriya he has to be the next symbol and that he has to be the one to make everyone feel safe. That is NOT a healthy mindset for a child to be in. Here Midoriya is told that he needs to protect everyone and this is where he starts to feel the need to be the one to fix everything, this is where he feels that everything is his fault.
Usj-
Bro just got put into a hugely traumatic situation and did you see how he literally like blacked out when he went to protect Tsuyu? I’d also like to point out that at this point he's been told by all might that his lack of self preservation is a heroic quality. PLus plus plus being put into a situation like this would hurt your brain function so immensely, the adrenaline rush he must be having at this moment.
Sports festival-
Todoroki. Just the entirety of the todoroki thing. Someones gonna go “he was just doing the heroic thing, that makes him hero quality!!” BUT!!! I GUARENTEEEE MIdoriya saw some of himself in Todoroki then. Like, todorokis situation is ‘boy whos in bad situation with no one coming to save him because no one would believe him/step up against the number ½ hero’ and midoriya's situation as a kid was ‘boy whos in a bad situation and no one is coming to save him because no one would believe him and no one wants to help the quirkless kid’. So midoriya obviously took it upon himself to be the one to save todoroki and at this point he's had all mights words drained into him so he probably has taken it upon himself to save everyone in similar situations.
Hero killer-
Speaking of people in similar situations: Iida! Sooo you're probably going “ghost. Iidas situation is NOTHING like midoriyas” and to that i say LET ME EXPLAINNNN because at this point iida has seen so many people be killed by stain that he more than likely believes no one can stop him but iida himself. This situation is ‘things are happening and no one is actively trying to stop it in the way I should, no one is coming to save this situation.’ so iida takes it upon himself and Midoriya sees this and recognizes it because of his own situation.
Final exams-
Bakugou. I have thoughts about this arc. Midoriya has no self preservation here at all. I could quite honestly say I believe midoriya is in some way suicidal. There is no ounce of non hero complex actions here. Midoriya takes it upon himself to save bakugou from failing the entire final exam even if bakugou doesn’t want that. And the their fight afterwards??? Where midoriya is like “youre all I look up to [bakugou]” (side note i hate calling him kacchan)???? WHERE IS YOUR SELF RESPECT MIDORIYA!!! BAKUGOU BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF YOU VERBALLY AND PHYSICALLY FOR YEARS!!!!!!
Hassaikai and Paranormal liberation--
Combining these because during both arcs midoriya shows absolutely ZEROOO self esteem and self preservation. These two arcs are combined because therye basically him on the brink of absolutely losing his shit and fully leaning into the hero complex.
Dark hero (so important r you kidding)-
R you serious rn..this is literally him going ‘no one else is fixing it so I WILL. in a dangerous way this IS the hero complex arc
But it's also the most self centered arc midoriya has had. His entire childhood has taught him to rely on himself and only himself so it's a given that he would only think about himself when anything happens that he needs to take care of as he's the only one who's ever shown to care about himself and others for a large portion of his life. Midoriya is such a complex character but you genuinely can only tell if you look deeper than what bnha has on the surface of it which makes me sad. I’m not here to diss horis writing and world building skills-he's much better at it than me- I just wish he would go deeper into his characters issues than having them fixed in short spurts (momo)

Jancy Analysis: Jonathan & Nancy's Individual Conflicts
I've been talking about this over the course of a few different posts and asks, but I thought I would make one cohesive post about it in order to coherently organize all of my thoughts on this.
I'm not going to tag this as anti j*ncy because it's actually pro-jancy endgame, but I am going to be talking in depth about the issues in their relationship and a possible breakup, so I understand if any Jancy shippers might wanna skip this one.
As many may have seen, I've been making several posts somewhat stating that I think that Nancy and Jonathan will likely break up very early in the next season. HOWEVER, I want to clarify that I don't think that this necessarily has to affect their status as a couple at the end of the season. A couple can still be endgame even if they took time apart! I also don't think that this is indicative of how they actually feel about each other. Unlike m*leven, I think they love each other very much! I just think that they are likely going to break up as a natural progression of how their story beats have laid out.
In 4x01 we are introduced to Jonathan and Nancy's conflict for the season; they are having miscommunication issues and will not be seeing each other for spring break.
Here's the thing that makes this heartbreaking— both of them actually perfectly understand the others wants and needs. Nancy isn't going to pry Jonathan away from his family and Jonathan isn't going to take Nancy away from the work that she is passionate about. They love each other so much that they can't see each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What leads me to believe that they are breaking up is the fact that this miscommunication is never actually discussed. They have a moment where they say that "they're good," but this wasn't actually addressing the issue. Furthermore, they end with Jonathan still hasn't told Nancy about not applying to Emerson, and Nancy isn’t being honest about Steve (no, I don’t think St*ncy is gonna happen, but that plotline did happen so it there’s no use in ignoring it!). This leaves open a huge plot point that still needs to be resolved!
This lie is actually similar to the painting lie, at least in terms of how it's being used within the writing. Because this lie is not resolved by the end of season 4, it leads me to believe that once this lie does get brought up then it will not end with things staying the exact same way that it was, otherwise what was the point of setting it up in the first place? Not only would it feel unsatisfying, but it would feel like a total cop out.
I don't think that Jancy breaking up would be a bad thing for their arc as a whole, it would not only add more interest and drama but it would also give the characters space to resolve their individual conflicts.
The reasons for why they don't see each other over Spring Break actually reveal bigger conflicts for each character: Jonathan has been lying to Nancy about college because he can't leave his family, and Nancy can't take herself away from what she's working on in order to be with him.
I'll start with Jonathan since I've actually talked about this before and his problem is more identifiable. Ever since their dad left, Jonathan has felt responsible for taking care of his family, something that he shouldn't have to do. He sacrifices parts of himself in order to protect his family, including being with the people he loves and going to the school he wants to go to (which is NYU btw and NOT Emerson!).
Nancy actually has the opposite problem, she is so involved with her work that it often gets in between her and the people that she loves. After Nancy goes on her spiel to Fred about why she can't see Jonathan, she turns down Mike's D&D game! We are shown a clear example of her prioritizing work over family!
Tumblr media
Both of these conflicts is what leads to Jonathan and Nancy having their argument in season 3, an argument that doesn't really get resolved, they just decide to make up because there’s bigger fish to fry. Although, as I stated above, it does seemNow, their argument in this season is pretty complex. They're both right... and they’re both wrong. Nancy was right to get upset at her employers for their sexism, but she was also wrong for not considering Jonathan's position. Jonathan was wrong for not considering Nancy's feelings, but he was also right for getting angry at her for losing him the job. It's not a black and white situation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To clarify, I don't think that Nacy being a working woman is a bad thing, nor do I think that Jonathan deeply caring for his family is a bad thing! But I think the reason that both of these arcs are here is for the sake of showing balance. How to balance what you want for your future with the ones that you love.
Now, as I talked about earlier, it does seem like they do understand their personal wants and needs now in season four, but those reasons for the argument in the first place are still there. Neither Nancy nor Jonathan have resolved these issues, and failing to do so will only continue to cause problems in the future, no matter how much they both love each other. That isn’t the problem in their relationship unlike M*leven
Yes Nancy and Jonathan don't need to break up in order to resolve their individual conflicts, but I think separation would at least help create focus. And as stated above, I see their breakup as pretty inevitable anyways. After that though, I think the possibility for endgame is still there. For myself personally I'd be open to either endgame or not, and especially if they get their situation sorted out than I would love to see them together in the end.

Okay, so...unsure if this has been brought up.
I recently finished reading Merrick. And I had a thought.
Assuming for a moment that Louis was present at the end of QOTD and was there for the big explanation of vampiric origins; why is he so despondent in subsequent books?
He got the answers he was looking for in all the previous books, the wheretos and whyfors of vampires, but it seems like those answers weren't enough for him. So he continues his weird vampire ascetic existence.
If he wasn't present at the end of QOTD, it makes sense. But I'm pretty sure I recall him being there. If so, does he just not accept that answer because it doesn't fit his worldview? Is he written that way because Anne wanted to diminish his VC 'screentime' and eventually write him out, until fans pressured her to abandon that idea?
Because the whole book of Merrick seems to be an homage to Louis whole inability to reconcile the truth of vampires and his own worldview, through the literary device of Claudia.
Unless I'm totally off the mark here. Which is why I bring it to one with greater discernment than I.
Hey dear!
Not sure about the last part but I'll try :P
So... personally I think Anne tried to let go of Louis (even write him out as you put it) because she had to. Louis is who she was when she mourned, why she wrote IWTV, and she had to leave him behind at some point to go on and for me that helps with understanding why the Chronicles are structured they way they are.
Louis was there for the answers/end in QotD, yes.
But Anne... had a very specific expectation on a Christian's view on the revelations - she had Marius say the following in TVL:
"No. As I told you, tell part and you will end up telling all. Besides, if these fledglings are children of the Christian god, if they are poisoned as Nicolas was with the Christian notion of Original Sin and guilt, they will only be maddened and disappointed by these old tales. It will all be a horror to them that they cannot accept. Accidents, pagan gods they don't believe in, customs they cannot understand. One has to be ready for this knowledge, meager as it may be.[..]"
Now, Louis was still a pretty young, pretty "human" vampire when QotD happened. And yes, he is "poisoned by the notion of Original Sin". He had also just been reunited with Lestat, to have him ripped away again, had met his mother-in-law/sister, and literally the eldest, and strongest of his kind.
Quite the tour-de-force if you ask me :)
And what had been the answer to the questions? An accident, leading to a mutation. And he got first hand evidence that the vampiric state makes them statues over time, or drives them mad. (The show hints at that already, too.)
And all that on top of a literal genocide on his "species", on his kind, a mass-murder he only escaped because he was deemed a bargaining chip by their "Queen".
So yes... after that "high" of reuniting with Lestat at the end of QotD must have come a rather heavy "drop". Both Louis and Lestat cannot deal with what was revealed, and they are coping in the way they know how to - Louis withdraws, to his books, to his paintings, to his little shed, while Lestat roams (and tries to kill himself, a move which Louis then later echoes in Merrick, for slightly different reasons, granted, but ultimately... the same, for having been brought to his proverbial knees, unable to go on anymore).
Merrick brings them full circle, and the resurrection levels them, in power and understanding, though Louis blames Lestat for a while, after, before he accepts what and who he is eventually.
For me, Merrick closes the guilt arcs, and together with TtotBT these arcs are closed within the story because they both offer up what they have left to give - their lives.
And they "fail" at that. (So does Armand btw, but that just as a note.)
And they need to come to terms with that, too. Especially Louis, I'd argue, because his upbringing would condemn suicide, and I do think he expected to end up in hell, which he knew (or expected) to be true after all, after Lestat's little stunt with Memnoch. Maybe he even hoped for it to be true, because it would have meant that something he believed in held true.
So yes, Louis is still struggling with that, then.
And he is for quite another while after, though Anne did not write it out like that (unfortunately).
It's just implied, with them breaking up in the jungles, and Louis going to Armand at Trinity Gate, and finding peace within himself there.
Merrick is indeed a bit of an homage at Louis‘ inability to reconcile what he knows is the truth with what he believes (or wants to believe) - but it is also the logical repercussion, and also, in a way, a try of Louis finding out the truth - a last ditch effort.
Which is why his tearful breakdown when Lestat asks him what he saw… and he says “nothing“… is so incredibly heart-breaking, because it tells us of the hope that was shattered. The hope to see her… or anything, really.
But there’s nothing.
There are no answers, no relief from the guilt, no reason - just… them.

I'm probably one of the few who finds the bits we got from Aegon as a character—while "inconsistent", disorganized and tonally a whirlwind—compelling, fascinating and worth inspecting and exploring (and maybe romanticizing and sexualizing :P). And this includes the textual sexual violence, and the heavily implied child sexual assault (whether pedophilic in nature or not aside for now). And though I understand people creating a fanon version expunging these sociopsychologically horrific, and fictionally hard to stomach aspects of his character, I can't say I even want to! I find him compelling because of these aspects, wanting the presentation of it may be for now.
His narrative, arc, symbolism and themes, and not to mention TGC's performance so far, are all just too compelling for me to pass on! Obviously biased, but frankly it's difficult to believe someone would read f&b and not realize the potential of his character and the entailing entertainment... On this note, I do have to say I find the complaints of certain fandom parts (they happen to be Aegon stans, and both team green and team black) about the choice to centre Alicent (both in the narrative and in Aegon's life) pretty disagreeable. It's wack, trite, and bitter. There are clear timeline oopsies and confusions due to the changes, and behind the complaints are genuine arguments to be made for an Update House of The Dragon that could have been, but the game ain't always fair... Just accept you are stanning a minor character, cast villain, stuffed like a pigeon with turkey filling, and eat your 10 minutes of beady eyed screentime. And just make everything about him? When someone takes a sip of wine, it's secretly about Aegon btw. All windows are about Aegon, when they are not about Alicent. Every dragonbond is secretly about Aegon/Sunfyre if you squint hard enough, George told me himself.
I think the major reasons why he comes off as deeply unlikable to the casual viewers (not even addressing the green/black tribalism for now) are due to unflattering framing and POVs that position him as either a gross nuisance, obstacle or clear antagonizing force. Some of this is due to needing certain characters covering certain aspects of a certain themes. How do the royals treat their servants? Good—bad is a big spectrum. Sexual violence is on it, and it happens to fall into Aegon's realm. And while considering the many other unflattering characteristics, u could argue this is overkill or unfair to Aegon, I gotta counter that's a deficient way of looking at fictional narratives. This character-lasered reading misses the forest for the trees. Not every character has to be likeable, relatable, or sympathetic from the get-go. And honestly, I think the many atrocities Aegon is collecting like Pokemon balls to be amusing and kinda compelling.
In another narrative, a character like Aegon's would b a byronic obsession in someone's romantic/gothic story, or a horror villain, or a god harassing poor mortal souls. There are very fun bits and pieces stuck in this guy and even in this age of many studios bucketing under fanbacklash, a guy can just hope the writers find him worthwhile enough a character. And rant into ur lovely inbox ofc.
And at the end of the day, people are just not gonna like a guy LOL. No amount of screentime or birthing scenes or dragonriding can make me find Rhaenyra compelling, and no lack thereof can make me find Alicent, Helaena, or Baela less compelling, speaking of female hotd characters only.
Okay almost.
Being they plan to introduce golden boy turned war criminal Daeron, I believe a both fun and horrific decision would be to make him compassionate towards Aegon's plights and woes and thus give the audience an entry into sympathizing with Aegon, which the writers clearly want us to do, all interviews and panels considered, cope and seethe as I have!
Are we even going to get a Daeron/Greenfam interaction? LOL What a deeply unserious show.
I would like to start off by thanking you for leaving such an interesting ask in my inbox! I think this conversation is a little overdue, since there’s been perhaps an emergence of the school of thought (lol) that suggests that greens upset or critiquing Aegon’s extra dark portrayal in the show are somehow whitewashing him or woobifying him. IMO that fundamentally showcases a divergence in people’s priorities in storytelling and how they interact with this fictional universe. I, myself, am very intrigued by dark!Aegon in fics and most of the works I enjoy tend to deal with taboo topics, so it’s a little unfair to paint everyone with the same dismissive brush.
However, I’m not just a HotD show watcher, I have been engaging with ASOIAF one way or another for over a decade now and I think I can mount a workable interpretation of how this series operates. One of the reasons I actually love it so much is because it has internal thematic logic and because, generally speaking, the characters that inhabit it are appropriately rewarded or sanctioned by the narrative (or at least it seems to be heading in this direction re: its endgame). Believe it or not, I was thinking of answering this ask by ranting about Ned Stark, but I decided not to, because we’d be here all day. 😅
Anyway, point is that I’m not very willing to sacrifice that aspect for the sake of character exploration that contradicts with the main themes and messages of the story. People are certainly free to disagree with me on this, of course.
I imagine it is a tricky business for authors, trying to decide exactly which and how much of a flavour of awful to assign to a character without ruining the rest of the story. Some might start with an outline or a feel for where they want the story to go, but, if you happen to create a character that veers off your intended path or seems to write itself in a direction you never planned for, it would be honest for you as a writer to acknowledge that and accommodate that accordingly in your story. Which isn’t truly a possibility here, as we need the characters to hit certain beats in the narrative and, ideally, they should do it in a believable way. This is often a problem I have found with Fire and Blood and lord knows I’ve already dissected it enough times here, if anyone cares to take a gander - the fact that characters are sometimes prevented to grow organically, because George needs them to perform certain actions in order to move the plot along. So, ideally, a good story would find a balance between these two scenarios.
So to me my main anti-argument is that the Dance was never a story just about Aegon, this is not the exploration of a fucked-up psycho rapist and why he does the things he does and how he thinks the things he thinks. While that certainly might be an interesting avenue, I am not super convinced the Dance of the Dragons could offer the appropriate space in which that kind of exploration could be pursued in a satisfying manner. This is an ensemble piece, and while Aegon is an important part of it, he also exists in relation to other characters. This exaggerated degradation of his would inevitably bring down his entire “side” with him and that, in turn, ultimately throws off the balance of the entire story.
Let’s stop for a minute and take a look at what they decided to go with in the show. Rhaenyra has consistently received the framing that her “mistakes” amount to (at most) victimless crimes (she is absolved from murdering Vaemond and the show makes no effort to explain the havoc caused by screwing up inheritance laws). Whereas what do we have for Aegon? 1. raping and terrorizing servants to the point of panic attacks; 2. enjoyer of the child-fighting sport; 3. implied sexual assault of children. This is beyond caricature. The addition that he enjoys watching his own children fight and that they file down their teeth to make them more formidable, stuff that wasn’t even in the books, is just downright infuriating.
These are not traits you endow a character with because you’re interested in exploring the deep dark depths of human depravity. That task was always impossible in the first place with a character who has so little screen time anyway and I would argue it was never really a priority anyway. The intention was always to make Rhaenyra look good by comparison and that’s not something I can respect from a storytelling perspective.
Note that this is the starting point for Aegon and Rhaenyra. This is supposed to show how they behave before the war, in a relatively stress-free situation, when they’re unburdened by war trauma and their family dying - explanations that could be given as reasons for their later ruthlessness. But nothing show!Rhaenyra (or even book!Rhaenyra) has ever done could ever hope to amount to the trifecta of awfulness that they assigned to show!Aegon.
So, what exactly are we doing here? The point of Aegon and Rhaenyra as direct adversaries was always that they inhabit a similar plane. It’s not even about Aegon being likable or sympathetic, it’s about the fact that it separates him too much from Rhaenyra and it positively sanctifies Rhaenyra by comparison. You could certainly prefer one over the other, but their differences are meant to inspire conversation; they cannot be so completely removed from one another as to operate in different leagues of morality. If we monsterize Aegon too much, we don’t even have the space to properly explore that in the story and it would mess too much with the way his character needs to evolve in order to hit the particular narrative beats that George decided are set in stone. So giving him these massive transgressions as a starting point and turning him basically into the Antichrist throws the rest of his arc off balance for me and the thematic parallels become too off-kilter for me to be able to enjoy it.
To me Rhaenyra’s story is very reminiscent of (white) feminism, very “rights for me but not for thee”: a rich, white, privileged woman fighting for her own advancement and not caring about the plight of anyone else. The Dance of the Dragons is meant to inspire conversation and debate, both on the legal front and on the political utilitarian front. Is male primogeniture fair, even if it maintains stability in the realm? Can we change that? How? Does shifting to simple primogeniture when it comes to royal succession engender progress in some way? Should royal succession reflect inheritance laws for the rest of the population? How are laws changed in a medieval common law system? Is it fair for the King to change laws however he wants, at the drop of the hat, or should the lords have some say? What can/should the King do if his vassals refuse to abide by his choices? When it comes to waging a destructive war to replace one “unworthy” candidate for the throne with another “unworthy” candidate, where do we place that on the moral spectrum? Is the population thriving/not dying in war more or less important than maintaining male primogeniture? Is it really worth it just to have a nominal female successor that won’t really bring about systemic change? These questions are really worth exploring and there are no straightforward answers to them, but if Aegon is Satan on Earth, none of these questions matter anymore, because Rhaenyra automatically becomes the better option and no price is steep enough to pay to get rid of Aegon. And the point never was that Rhaenyra would make a better ruler than Aegon or is even a better person than Aegon; trying to shoehorn her into that narrative only hurts the story overall.
There’s something to be said for the fact that in the last stages of the war, Aegon’s and Rhaenyra’s journeys inversely parallel each other: while Rhaenyra is rejected by the population and kicked out of King’s Landing while she’s occupying the Iron Throne, Aegon manages to convince people on Dragonstone to fight for him and he takes the castle with little resistance. There is something to be said for the fact that it’s Aegon who gets to kill Rhaenyra, not the other way around. That he’s the one who gets to live that little while longer. The author could have simply chosen for them to have one last battle and end up killing each other, but he doesn’t. And IMO we would not be able to get to that point in the story in a way that feels true and organic to the internal logic of this fictional universe if we corrupt Aegon’s development and make him so reprehensible to begin with.
TLDR: I take issue with HotD’s portrayal of Aegon in direct comparison with the text of Fire and Blood, but I am open to dark!Aegon explorations in fic. However, I do not feel like this is appropriate in canon, as it messes too much with the balance of the story and corrupts the wider themes and messages, both of the Dance of the Dragons and of the ASOIAF series in general.

alright ! i've had a full 24+ hours to Process — which may have involved a bottle of prosecco ( i don't drink btw ) & going through a few waves of tears — & i'm here ready to talk about the finale. of.md spoilers below the cut, obviously !
some things i actually did like ( a short list ) :
the plot on paper. the beats of a good story were there but it was so rushed through & poorly executed that it just felt messy, unearned, slapped together.
ed thinking stede is dead & disassociating so hard he goes on a rampage & murders several of the soldiers in very sexy ways, ie: bayonet flip. also ed coming out of the ocean like aphrodite, ready to murder in his black leather. slay.
jim & archie kissing Like That before going to battle. also jim throwing knives from in the trees. very hot, powerful trans energy there, i really enjoyed it.
unfortunately everyone on the crew looked very sexy in stolen navy uniforms.
spanish "you best believe everyone in this household is poison trained" jackie.
zheng existing ( i would like to formally request a whole show about her )
stede yelling 'for love !' when attacking the british. romantic stede my beloved.
most of izzy's main dialogue — especially telling ricky that what really matters about piracy is belonging to something in a world that has told you that you are worth nothing. & yes, even most of of his conversation with ed. izzy telling him it's ok to just be ed ? killed me. & blackbeard was both of us ? don't even. i did want him to apologize to ed properly & am still glad that he did but be careful what you ask your god for am i right.
the final panning shot of the crew on the revenge. beautiful shot despite it all.
issues i had ( a longer list ) :
the editing ? why so many harsh cuts ? the way it was spliced together only contributed to the chaotic & disjointed feeling. & of course, the pacing. i think these two issues are connected & probably not the fault of the writers themselves. the show clearly really needed all 10 episodes to do what it really wanted to do, & this finale is just begging for that lost hour of screentime.
it wasn't even a good fuckery lol.
i wish lucius & pete's wedding had been... idk, just more. something more akin to calypso's birthday, a proper celebration for them. i also wish they would have given an indication they're still poly. "i now pronounce you mateys" was good tho.
ed apologizing & saying i love you & stede not doing either one in return. stede not being sappy in his irl fantasy ? impossible, im really confused by that choice.
0 resolution for stede's entire arc ? 0 indication of self reflection on his part ? & thus no resolution for the primary conflict of the show's central relationship ? they didn't even talk about their future, it just cut to them standing there & stede saying "so i guess we're innkeepers now" as if that's all he would have had to say about that ? i know that this show handwaves away a lot of things, like travel times & the realities of sailing, but i thought the story was literally about this relationship, & we don't get to see them decide on what their future together will look like. it's framed as stede just kinda going along with ed's latest whim ( since you know, they've always worked out soooo well for him in the past ) even though it's the exact opposite of what he's been moving towards personally lately, all without even saying a word about it ? i'm not even saying that i don't like this ending, but it just again felt so unearned.
very little actual resolution for ed's arc. his whole deal this season was about deciding who he wants to be, but he flip flops every time something doesn't go his way & the episode gave us no reason to think that would be different now with their inn. also he just killed a bunch of soldiers after having serious trauma surrounding the act of killing throughout the entire series, but i guess we're just supposed to believe that's ok, he's totally fine, he's an innkeeper now ! (will say more on this topic in the final section.)
poly things not being handled well or outright forgotten about. like olu / jim / archie / zheng has all the potential in the world for a beautiful poly love story & we barely got to see them interact together at all. & to think i was all :eyes: when izzy was dubbed the unicorn because i actually thought for a few episodes there that they might be doing the same thing for polyamory in s2 that they had done for queerness in s1, showing the audience that it's ok to see ourselves in stories & not just on the fringes, we're not stupid or freaks reading into something that isn't there. but turns out, it wasn't there, & i was the freak & the clown all along. live & learn.
the elephant in the room ( rip izzy you beautiful freak ) :
here's the thing. obviously i was never going to be happy that they killed my most favoritest old man. the fact that he's dead just when he found something real to live for is literally heartbreaking to me. but i could have swallowed it as a natural & important part of the narrative if one small thing was done differently: izzy could have had an actual sacrifice. & not for ed, but for the crew. after his speech about living for the crew, him choosing to act in a way that compromised his safety but earned their freedom would have felt like a completion of his arc. but instead it was a stray bullet to the left side which he earned in stede's so-called suicide mission ( don't even get me started on that line given where izzy started this season ), an injury which the show has told us previously is 100% survivable.
in the crew sacrifice scenario izzy could have acted as the symbol of piracy itself, a way of life that is dying. he is, after all, The Pirate (aside from blackbeard himself) on the show. & he has a history of letting shit slide that kinda doesn't align with the way of life they're trying to build on the revenge, not just in s1 but also in the scene with lucius in s2 ("& you? are you happy with all this?" "well, this is a pirate ship, & i'm a pirate so... yeah, i'm good with it.") ricky says they are at "the end of piracy" & izzy is the last REAL pirate (including ed because at this point as he is moving away from that life). & as izzy himself says in s1, "the only retirement we get is death." izzy also shows pretty intense self-preservation, & most of his shitty actions in s1 are motivated by often misplaced survival instincts, ("i'm not dying. not for you & not for that ponce,") so having him go against this longstanding character trait to protect the crew would have felt earned after his dramatic growth. it could have worked. it still would have hurt, but it could have worked.
instead, the way it is actually framed, the narrative actively robs izzy of this symbolism & instead makes his death entirely about ed & ed's relationship to piracy. having him die in a random incident & then having his death scene be followed up by ed finally "officially" (for the third time) giving up piracy honestly flattens everything i find interesting about them as characters & their dynamic to each other.
ed & izzy have very clearly been in clearly a mutually toxic codependent relationship (platonic or otherwise) for decades, but the framing of izzy's death being the only thing that can free ed from piracy (& blackbeard) turns izzy from a complex character of his own into a 2-dimensional plot device. & if izzy truly couldn't exist without blackbeard, then it would make sense — but we've just seen that he can, actually ! that he is a person outside of that relationship, despite what he himself thought for most of his life ! that they can both exist outside of them, & there is a very real possibility that neither of them actually need blackbeard anymore. so instead his death feels cruel to me. & because we know this is the show where injuries simply don't matter unless we need them to, we know that this was a conscious choice, that the writers genuinely felt he had to die for the story (ed's story) to continue.
& you know, that's fair on some level. he's the lead after all. but i also think this framing is actually kind of reductive to ed's character ! i don't write ed, but part of what makes him so compelling to me is that he is... kinda a "bad person," but he wants to be better. he's extremely complex. he has trauma & big feelings & he doesn't always act on them in the right way. & he feels guilt & remorse — he knows he has done wrong in the past & wants to be better, even if he doesn't always know how. & izzy has admittedly been an obstacle to him reaching that end in the past, but to frame it as if ed's actions were because of izzy, & actually izzy was making ed be blackbeard & manipulating him into doing bad things that he didn't really want to do, then i guess now that izzy is dead ed is free to skip off into the sunset happily ever after with his man ! the bad influence in his life finally gone, so he is all healed ! never mind that his most recent return to piracy & killing spree as blackbeard had literally nothing to do with izzy & everything to do with thinking he'd lost stede again. never mind that ed's trauma has its roots in things that happened to him before izzy (his father) & things that also happened to izzy (hornigold). nope, izzy was the real shackle all along. he has to die so ed can be free, & he only ever existed solely to develop ed's pain. that's what this narrative feels like. & i just... don't like the taste of it on any level. izzy says himself that blackbeard was both of them. so why does izzy have to die while ed gets to move on, given they both have shown the capacity to do so ?
the bit that i think i like least about how it's executed is izzy saying "i want to go," especially considering how he & ed are both shown to be actively suicidal in the opening of the season, & he has since started to regain his self confidence from that lowest point. & maybe that line could be read as him just trying to soothe ed in the moment, but idk, it rubbed me the wrong way for him to say he still wanted to die when in fact he had just found something he actually wanted to live for.
so ! i think that's all i have to say about that ! if you've made it this far, thanks for reading ! i'll be working today on writing up a basic canon divergence for both stede & izzy, since i don't like how either of them ended the season out. sorry, but stede's simply not ready to give up pirating just yet, even for ed. & in my head, izzy is fine because he was shot on the left side & "science" tells us there's nothing important in that half of the body anyway. : )

Do you think RR Noah felt kind of OOC?
I could speak for hours about RR Noah. There's a lot that bothers me about him in that season, that's more than just him being "OOC." And it's more than just n*mma.
But yes, he is OOC. It's stated in canon that Owen finds Noah's actions strange. He sees Noah staring at Emma, and it's so strange that the only explanation he can come up with is "maybe he has rabies." The fact that n*mma is unnatural is not only lampshaded, but honestly the point. Noah is acting strange! Because he's in loooove. And "love makes you do strange things" !!! Which isn't completely untrue, but that means you have to assume Noah was in love with Emma as soon as he saw her. Which uhh, doesn't quite make sense, considering Noah has always been the "unimpressed" one.
N*mma's like a self-insert fic. Noah, stoic cold Noah, took one look at her and suddenly he can't take his eyes off her. Suddenly he's doing everything to help her win, everything to be near her. And well, that works when your Y/N, when it's a fanfic and the people reading already want to believe. So the point isn't to be accurate, but to present the most promising fantasy. And there's nothing wrong with that.
But it's not the writing you do for a TV show, when you're trying to convince people who's never seen this ship that it makes sense. (And especially not the writing you do when you also have to convince the audience that the guy in it isn't gay.)
But Noah's decline in RR is more than just N*mma. There's the fact that they set up a promise in the first episode and broke it. There's the fact that his character arc is a circle. There's the fact that RR as a season doesn't really suit Noah's strengths. And yeah, there's the fact that n*mma was poorly written.
So let's walk our way through this.
1) Noah says in the first episode, that he is going to focus on WINNING. "Every reality show I've been on, I lost. This time, no excuses, no distractions." I am bolding this because it is very important. Noah wants to win. This is a little strange for Noah, but it's good, and its easy to fill in the reasons. He's tired of losing is the obvious one. Maybe he needs the money, maybe it's a New Years resolution. It's be great if the show told us exactly why he's taking the show serioudly, but it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.
The important thing is he's finally going to TRY. Right? Right?
Nope. The challenge in the 2nd episode is to pick out five specific spices. Noah says "just give us the five closest to you." 🤦‍♂️ This wasn't even his own plan. He copied Dwaynes. Like... what happened to trying? What happened to wanting to win? And then makes Owen eat the resulting mess, so again. What effort is Noah putting in? Where's the try? BTW - one of the spices he was supposed to identify was cinnamon. CINNAMON. How does he not know what cinnamon is? Like at least try to get one right. (Honestly, this whole challenge sucks? Only white people would think identifying spices is a challenge.)
There's also a challenge where he has to memorize an Icelandic phrase. Just one phrase. Somehow he fucks this up. He's supposedly a smart guy, and he fucks this up.
It's like the writers forgot that his character existed beyond snark. Noah is supposed to be a smart guy. Why can't he memorize one phrase? He's also supposed to be Indian ... like from, you know, India, the place that's known for its spices? Hmm. I'm not saying he has to know every single spice, but it feels fake that he doesn't know one.
Again, what happened to trying? What happened to "focusing on the cheddar?" aka the prize money? What happened to attempting competence?
So when I say they set up a promise in the first episode and broke it, this is what I mean. They set up an idea and completely forgot about it, to the point of making Noah dumber than he rationally should be.
2) So remember Noah in Island? He wasn't really a character till the dodgeball episode, where he refused to help his teammates, made fun of them, and gets eliminated for it.
Now think of Noah's last episode in RR. He refuses to help Owen with the Komodo dragon and gets himself flattened by a pile of rugs. And you think "oh well now he can't help because he's stuck, poor baby." But he can help himself because he does when Emma calls him. But he refuses to on his own, or when Owen calls out to him. And they get eliminated because of it. So once again, Noah refuses to help his teammates and gets eliminated for it.
Which makes it sound like it's not OOC, he's just a really flat character. And that's sorta true, but the RR version is WORSE.
Noah never made a promise to win in Island. And the teammates he was refusing to help - he didn't know them. They were strangers. And above all, he didn't directly cause their loss. Sure, he was deadweight, but the team could have won without him if it weren't for Harold.
But in RR, the person he's refusing to help is Owen. His best friend. The nicest person alive, the guy who did everything for Noah when Emma dumped him. He's refusing to help his best friend win, and making sure they lose. Why? Because he's decided he doesn't care about the game anymore, now that he has Emma. Great, but OWEN'S STILL RIGHT THERE.
Despite the narrative trying to tell us that Noah is a nicer person because of Emma, he's still clearly selfish AF. You could even say he's gotten WORSE now. And that really fucking sucks.
So when I say Noah's character arc is a circle, I mean it. His selfish actions have not changed, despite three years, a girlfriend, and the nicest best friend in the world.
3) RR as a season doesn't suit Noah. What do I mean by that? Well, RR is a season where everyone is divided into pairs that rarely interact with each other. It's not that they never interact - the Icedancers and the Cops rivalry is unmatched, but that they don't do it all that often. It's more coincidental to run into another group than anything else. At least that's the vibe I got.
But Noah is a character who thrives off being mean to a variety of people that he's had time to observe. In WT, Noah got to make fun of Tyler and Izzy and Alejandro and Sierra and Heather and Chris, all people he knew pretty well. Noah doesn't know the people in RR. And the only ones he gets close to are Owen, his girlfriend, and his girlfriend's sister. The latter two are off-limits to insult, so Owen gets stuck with all the mean things.
And this doesn't work, because Noah's best insults are ones that are either make you say a) 'nah, he's got a point though" b) "ayy get them, they deserve it" or c) "why would you say something like that lmao, what's wrong with you?"
A is him dissing Alejandro, B is Chris, and C is the dodgeball episode.
But him being mean to Owen is none of those things. Owen isn't a bad person, and although he makes mistakes, none of them are deserving of harsh criticism. Especially considering Owen is supposed to be, you know, his friend. And Owen is more capable than Noah this season, so it just lands flat. The only thing you can take away from Noah being mean to Owen is that Noah is an asshole. And true... but. Not in an interesting way.
By limiting Noah to just Owen as his main target of snark, it makes him seem like an asshole. Which is actually okay imo. Noah's a shitty person, and I like watching shitty people. But there's nothing gained from it in the show. Owen practically never calls him out on being shitty. In fact, even though Noah lost him the show and made everything more difficult, Owen remarks that "he's just happy to be with his lil buddy." Bruh... can someone save this man? Please? Sweetie, you deserve so much better.
There is ONE moment I'd like to highlight that challenges this. One episode, Noah is required to perform air guitar on stage. He's reluctant because he finds the whole thing embarrassing and his crush is watching and omg does Noah have stage fright? Is he shy? haha it's kinda cute and actually believable. Owen points out that he needs Noah to do it anyway, asking Noah to be his "hero." And Noah... does. He goes out there, he air-guitars away, and it's a really good moment. It shows Noah's flaws, how they affect the people around him. It's great to see Owen stand up for himself and confront him, and it's lovely to see Noah respond and change his stance to help his friend.
And then he refuses to help his friend a few episodes later. So... ehh. Good job, hero.
4)N*mma. I think what's wrong with N*mma is that TD writers are incapable of writing a woman being the romantic initiator unless they're crazy - Izzy, Sierra. Otherwise, the woman should ALWAYS be approached by the man first. The man should always be making the first moves or the first flirtations. After all, to keep tension in a relationship, there needs to be a question of "will they get together." And what man WOULDN'T want a girlfriend? What guy would ever turn down a gf? Whereas a girl can ponder and wonder and think "oh i don't know him that well, oh im not sure." But no one ever extends that waiting period to guys. They're just expected to always be down for women.
But Noah isn't an "average" guy. He's antisocial. He doesn't flirt, he looks down on romance, and he's never expressed concern about getting a girl. And he's never, ever, put in effort to woo someone. Never! Noah is very anti-effort. King.
But hey, TD needs to write him in a romance, and the only romance they write requires the guy to simp for a girlboss. So Noah starts simping for a girlboss. I must admit I don't think the idea of Noah simping is complete trash. But it needs to be worked up to. Or at the very least, denied until Noah can deny it no longer.
(Also when has Noah being into girlbosses? I know TD is into girlbosses, since they've written, like, 50, but Noah? Noah's has shown nothing but disdain for Courtney and Heather. Also there's the fact that Emma tries to cut Noah's hair against his will with a fish? And talks about marriage and family like... 2 days into their relationship? I'm confused why that isn't a turn off to Noah. He's the one who warned Owen about Izzy, right? He's the one who made fun of Sierra for being stalker? So why is he into it now? Answer me Fresh)
Anyway.... it's like Total Drama doesn't know the meaning of "gradual." And tbf, with 32 contestants and a half hour show time, it's hard to write a slow burn. They don't have the time for it.
Still, they could have done better. The easiest way to fix N*mma, imo, is to just rip off Pride and Prejudice plotline. Emma already has a kid sister. Like, imagine Emma and Noah dislike each other had first, mean sarcastic nerds that they are. They dislike each other, Noah has a crush on her but is hiding it, and is pushed to confess by Owen.
Doesn't work out because his confession sucks because Noah has ZERO social skills.
N*mma take some time off, Kitty falls into the ocean or smth, Noah rescues her, and Emma is like "wow ur a good nice person after all" and Noah's like "i just had to save her, i couldn't let her die" and then they kiss or smth. Like come on Fresh, why didn't you go with that? Pride and Prejudice is in the public domain!! Like no one was stopping you.
All in all, if N*mma had to be written, it should have been like I said, or Duncney style. Noah should be allowed to be mean and grow from it.
And that's what's wrong with N*mma. Noah is mean but does not grow from it. He gets Emma regardless of how he treats Owen. They're completely separate things. His struggle to get Emma to like him has LESS to do with Noah, and more to do with Emma's own issues. Like you're telling me Noah's in a relationship, and he's NOT the problem? He should have been the problem. Ughh.
So when I say N*mma was poorly written, I mean that it has insta-love, that Noah does not act like himself in the relationship, and that Emma doesn't make him a substantially better person. (I know he gave Jake the rings, but he doesn't help his own bestie in the end, ... so its rlly hard to say he's grown.)
Tl;dr Noah in RR is forced into a romance plotline he doesn't fit, and ditches the self-improvement plotline that we were all rooting for, ending up in the same place as he started. Noah's romance should have served to highlight his character growth not BE his character growth. It's peak TD writing, honestly. He betrays his team for his girl like Trent did in TDA. He falls for her as fast as Duncan did for Gwen in WT. And the way he treats Owen, his supposed friend, somewhat resembles how Leshawna chose to view Heather in WT. Sad.

New Mike Monologue Theory
The only reason Mike does his monologue is because of Will. Before Will reminds him that he's the heart, Mike was trying to wake her up and get her tf out of there. He literally had to brace himself before saying this speech-- before saying I Love You. He tried so fucking hard to avoid saying it for a little over half a year because he knows he's not in love with her.
And now the plot twist of all plot twists: he didn’t lie at all and it wasn’t a masked love confession to Will. He wasn't lying when he confesses he's scared of El not needing him or losing her, that he views El as his superhero and believes in her abilities, and he wasn't lying all the times he said he loves her. *this is anti milkvan btw*
Mike loves her PLATONICALLY. The bylers have made thousands of posts explaining how obvious it is through the seasons and we all already know this as plain fact. But you know who doesn't? Literally every single person in the show besides himself. He hasn't wanted to give off the impression he feels romantically towards her since 3x6 (exact moment being him yelling ily in front of the party). He's never ever wanted to lead El on with the idea that he loves her romantically. Saying "I love you", despite it always having a platonic meaning for Mike, doesn't mean it's platonic for everyone else. And Mike knows this-- it's why he has to brace himself. He's bracing himself to the fact that he's about to confess to El he loves her platonically knowing damn well it's going to be misconstrued by everyone. Hell even us, the delusional bylers, misconstrued it. It's why he goes from not saying it at all to bracing himself for the first time ily in front of her ever to yelling it 8 more times.
Understanding his ilys are platonic makes " ...you'll realize you don't need me anymore. And I thought if I said how I felt, it would somehow make that day hurt more" crystal mf clear. The whole speech is cringey and sounds fake, but this line just straight up doesn't make sense if you believe he was ever in love with El or is lying to her. But now we know that Mike thought if he told El he doesn't love her romantically that she would completely take him out of his life because she already knows she doesn’t need him.
THIS ENTIRE SEASON HAS BEEN MIKE STRESSING AB TELLING EL HE LOVES HER PLATONICALLY AND THE CLOSER TO EL THEY GOT THE MORE ANXIOUS/NERVOUS HE BECAME AND THIS MASKED CONFESSION IS THE PINNACLE OF HIS ST4 ARC!!!!!!
Here’s all the evidence from s4 that backs this statement up:
He says "Maybe I should've said something...maybe she'd want me there with her, wherever she is" in the first heart-to-heart. This is wishful thinking; Mike has never been shown as a doubtful character. If anything, he's always been super stubborn on his thoughts and opinions. The word "maybe" being repeated over and over shows he doesn't really believe if he told El ily that she would've confided in him ab the Nina Project. It's simply wishful thinking.
Getting told by Will in the first heart-to-heart that he's going to have a chance to say ily isn't reassuring, it's just feeding into his fear of "if I tell El I'm not in love with her I'm going to lose her". It's why his face looks sullen right before it becomes a byler moment.
The word maybe is once again used when talking about how if he told El his feelings she would've confided in him on the cartop. It's the mf wishful thinking word!!!!! And "him not knowing what to say" is more like "he knows what to say just not in a positive way". People only say "I don't know what to say" when they do have something to say it's just going to hurt someone's feelings. Mike thinks saying he doesn't love her romantically is going to hurt her so bad that she'll want him out of her life.
car top "what if they don't like the truth" finally makes sense in terms of m*leven!! What if El doesn't like that Mike loves her like a sister/friend? What if she stops being his friend altogether? It still applies with byler and his feelings for Will, but I really think this is what the duffers were focusing on s4 plot-wise.
When Will talks about El helping them steal money in Vegas *that's so funny btw* it just reminds Mike that he's literally only 90 miles away from her and he's going to have to confess his real emotions soon. In the van he talks ab how he doesn't believe El needs him; this backs up the mf wishful thinking all throughout the season!
His emotions are so high and happy when finding Eleven unharmed that for a split second he forgets he has to tell her he isn’t in love with her--looks over to Will who is the love of his life and suddenly his smile drops. Yeah that was just him remembering why he was so anxious the whole season :(
Mike was going to say he's sorry he never says ily, but it's because he's not in love with her and then Argyle had to come in 😑 But you might be thinking "if you're claiming he was so anxious this whole season, why is he so calm now?" It's because she just reassured him of his "losing El" insecurity by saying she missed him after they were acting friendly. This boy thought the ENTIRE season "when she finds out I'm gay she's not going to need me in her life anymore" but hearing that she missed him gives him hope that that's not going to happen. And you can see on his face how happy and relieved he is to know she still wants him in her life despite the fight he thought they couldn’t get back from.
The face he makes at Will while being told essentially "say what you wanted to say now" is pure fear. Yeah he felt calm before when it was just him and El, but now it would be him admitting he doesn't love his gf of two years romantically with three other guys in the room. Guys who may possibly not be as accepting or nice as El. Not to mention she’s literally dying, so what if his confession ab platonic love kills her?So he confesses… just not in the most obvious way.
And his life starting the day he met El in the woods? His life started the day in the woods because without El his life would be completely different: 1) Mike would've given up hope on finding Will without El's help. Possibly wouldn't have even found him without her help. Possibly would've killed himself at the quarry because of losing Will since he already tried doing that when El left 2) Wouldn't have discovered he's gay and in love with Will 3) Wouldn't have had the chance to be a leader/hero/guide for someone, which is how he likes to feel loved. Think of it like this: his life ended the day Will disappeared. With hindsight, Mike can truthfully say his life started the day he found her because it was dumb luck that he found the one person who would’ve been able to save Will.
And are y'all really going to take his "love at first sight" bs at face value? Ofc he didn't fall in love with El at first sight-- the trailer tells us his actual thoughts were "that's not Will", he tells Will in the van that finding her was "dumb luck", and the duffer brothers don't even like the trope. Why would they use it if they don't like it?? IT'S BECAUSE ITS MF PLATONIC LOVE-- having Mike go from initially only becoming friends and loving El because she was Will's savior to him actually caring about her as a person and loving who she is despite ppl (and herself) viewing her as a monster. Are you fucking kidding me?!!? That's a beautiful twist!!!! He says it was the day they met because she gave him more hope in finding Will that night (the scene they show us isn't the only scene from that night with her wearing the yellow benny burgers shirt)!!!!!
And whenever he says "the truth is, El, idk how to live without out you" he still isn't lying. Do y'all seriously believe that he still feels the exact same way ab her as he did back in s2. Back when he was 12 and so goddamn deep in the closet he couldn't even tell that his feelings for her are platonic. Back when he only met her for, granted an impactful and emotional but nonetheless, a week. SEVEN DAYS. He's become as close to her as he is Dustin or Lucas over the past FEW YEARS. He considers her apart of the og party ffs! Referring to the Lucas on the Line excerpt, he wasn't just depressed from a Will-less life-- he was also depressed from an El-less life. He wasn't living properly without either of them, and him saying he couldn't live without El doesn't devalue what he told Will back in the 2nd heart-to-heart or vice versa.
And what about "I'm sorry I don't say it more--it's not because I'm scared of you...I've never felt that way"? I am not about to list every m*leven scene, but I will bring back the Rink-O-Mania. Well, this scene would've been the perfect moment to show he is scared of her-- it's her, powerless, harming someone who hasn't physically hurt her. But his reaction that night wasn't fear, it was clearly anger! Cue the bewildered questioning, not sitting next to her in the aftermath, the tense car ride back, the Ted Wheeler dinner parallel. And if you still don't believe me, then why does he literally say after being told she thinks he's scared of her "No, that's— that's not true. I was surprised. Maybe I was a little upset in the moment...Sorry, I just didn't know what to do...It happened so fast. But it doesn't change anything. It doesn't matter". It doesn't matter that she hit some girl over the head because he knows her and knows she's not some monster who attacks people unjustly. Again, not going over every m*leven interaction, but every person who has used scenes from previous seasons to say he’s lying go rewatch those scenes and ask yourself “is he scared or is he angry”. Actually fuck that let’s talk ab the s2 scene with Mike yelling at El after Will’s body is found. He calls her a freak, says Lucas was right ab her the whole time yada yada yada. But let’s ask ourselves “Is he scared of her for being a “monster” or is he angry because he put all faith in her and now it looks like she was lying?”.
So now let's get into why everyone from the byler audience is convinced he's lying or it’s a veiled byler love confession. How are we supposed to know it's real with Will always above Mike's shoulder and El's reaction during the scene + m*leven interactions afterwards or (if you do choose to read between the lines) it kinda going with his feelings for Will. I now present to you this fact: The speech isn't from Mike's pov it's a combo of Will's and El's. Even tho we have yet to receive Mike's Monologue script *I'm livid at everyone who voted Angela over Mike* we should already know not to expect any hints into his mind based off of what the van script gave. Not to mention we never saw his pov when with Will/El before this, so why would the speech be any different. It comes off as cheesy and over the top in the pizza shop because Will's pov shows Mike professing his romantic love and how he's always been in love with her.... meanwhile, El's pov pulls back from the lovey-dovey words and instead focuses on her struggling. Every time she doesn't believe what Mike is saying (never being scared of him, the first i love you) lightning strikes and the more she hears the more she strangles. Yeah even the visual cues were from El’s pov considering it’s happening in her head. Max saves her, not Mike. She doesn't believe him at all and thinks he's lying to her face the entire time. This explains why after this scene they haven't really talked to each other over the time jump and it explains the major stink eye she gives him. And it’s not byler coded from Mike’s pov— it’s byler coded from OUR pov. Yes it does go hand in hand with Will’s van scene, but remember Mike thinks those are El’s words!! It being written to go with Will’s feelings was more so to hint at the audience that byler is endgame, not to show Mike knows those were Will’s feelings.
Also because Mike is oblivious *always has been always will be* he doesn't know El is angry with him about the monologue, and believes it's what kept her from dying.
The End :)

Hello :)
So I rewatched Kinnporsche this week and there's one thing that's stood out to me. Kinn has been put in a corner I feel. I don't know how to explain with the right words but it's like Kinn is present obviously but is he tho ? I think other than ep 6 and that one scene with tay in ep 7 he wasn't allowed to express what he felt. We never really hear him put words on his emotions. C'mon in 4 ep we had more for vegas than we had in 14 for kinn. Why vegas was allowed to cry, scream and being shown with words and action what he really felt about his life, his father, pete but kinn couldn't. We had 3 scenes with vegas's father please. 3 that were the same btw. I'm sure after the first scene of them everyone understood the man was an asshole and it messed up vegas. I'm thinking especially about tawans arc. This man was the reason kinn closed his heart, didn't trust anyone and was who he was at the start of the show yet the arc wasn't about him and they made it all about vegas. We saw by the end of ep 10 kinn wasn't well, he smoaked for the first time c'mon yet they didn't let him have his moment. He deserve to have a scene where he talked about what having this man back in this life felt like. Even if he didn't loved the man anymore tawan was still someone who had an impact in his life. A bad one. The end of the ep would have been perfect and the right time for kinn and porsche to have that talk. And with that talk we could have Porsche talking abt what he felt too with the ex back and why he did what he did with the spying you know ? Same with ep 14 I know everything happened too fast but porshe should have been allowed to explain kinn why he went behind his back and work with vegas. Kinn should have been allowed to show what waking up without porsche but a note only to find him with vegas felt for him. And the fact we couldn't have that but a lot of unnecessary screentime for things that didn't matters is a big fail. Sure show me men crying for 5 min in their plates but don't show me crucial things for the main charactere and their relationship. And the thing that annoyed me the most... why Kinn couldn't be in the actions. Why was he always had to be removed from the actions and be in the house while vegas always was on the field. Pissed me off so much. And this is why I don't want a season 2 I don't trust them because I know they always favor vegas and they love their porsche vegas team up and I'm sure that's the thing they'll keep from the novel. Vegas porsche working together against korn while kinn will be mia from the plot. And they'll make vegas a perfect human being who never did any wrong in this life I bet. Lmao I can't have this for another 14 ep. Just put me in charge of season 2 or keep it. 😅 wow that was long I think.
Tumblr media
While Porsche is the love of my life, I don't mind putting on my armor and fighting for Kinn. I don't. At the end of the day, Kinn's POV is missing. That is absolutely, positively strange to say about a character that's technically one of the lead characters in this show. Yes, this is Porsche's journey and this is technically his story. But I kept waiting to see Kinn's POV at some point during this season. I was impatiently waiting to see an episode told completely from his POV. I mean, why not? He's one half of the lead pairing of this show. That's an acceptable and appropriate expectation to have, right? So, why didn't we get it?
Kinn is unwell, anon. He is clearly struggling emotionally and mentally. He is slowly but surely losing his mind. It's fairly evident because we've seen him grin and bear the weight of all of this shit countless times throughout the season. We've seen Kinn feel something and then promptly push it down because he had a duty to carry out. I relate to Kinn so much; obviously, not in terms of all the murder and mafia shit of course. But in terms of who he is as an individual outside of that, I relate to him. So, the problem with ignoring and keeping your feelings inside is that eventually they have to come out. These things will manifest in some form or fashion, and it's never good. That manifestation is never good. Either you blow a gasket and eventually blow up or you keep burying your emotions and feelings until you get physically sick. One way or another, you will pay for suppressing your emotions and feelings.
Besides the obvious, the reason that a lot of people can't sympathize with Kinn is because the audience is never made privy to his emotions, thoughts, and feelings. The audience doesn't know what he feels because we've never been allowed to see it. Aside from fans just wanting to see Vegas's POV, the fact of the matter is that Vegas is allowed to feel what he wants. He's abused by his father but he's also allowed to fully express what that does to him. Kinn is also being abused and manipulated by his father but he's never been allowed to show those messy, ugly emotions as a result of it. But it's one of the reasons as to why some people don't realize that Kinn is just as much of an abused child as Vegas is. We've seen Vegas cry a LOT but we've never seen Kinn cry. Why did we see the villains of the show cry more than Kinn? Why? How does he feel about everything that's happened? How did he feel about what he did to Porsche in episode 4 and even in episode 5? How did he feel seeing his ex-boyfriend for the first time in years? How did he feel when he woke up to Porsche being gone in episode 13? How did he feel thinking that Porsche was fed up with his life and had finally left him?
Think about it - when Porsche showed up to the fight in the finale, Kinn was relieved but shocked. He wasn't expecting to see Porsche at all, which means he probably thought that Porsche had left him for good and that he was never going to see him again. But, again, that conclusion comes from me being a smart bitch and being able to read between the lines. That's not because the narrative did an amazing job illustrating Kinn's fear and resignation at the idea that the love of his life was gone from his life. That's not because the narrative did an amazing job at incorporating Kinn's POV into the episode.
Kinn is not present in this show and that sucks, because I find him to be far more interesting and complex than 98% of the characters on this show. There are certain things that Kinn appears to be present for, but that's not due to the writing. That's due to Mile's acting choices. When Korn was revealing the whole thing with Porsche's mother in the finale, Mile's acting is what reminded you that Kinn was still in the room because the narrative didn't do it. Hell, it was the same thing when Korn told Porsche that his mother was his foster sister in the beginning of the finale too. Mile's acting is why you were able to remember that Kinn was present because Kinn didn't have any lines whatsoever in that scene. We got Porsche being gutted and disgusted at the idea that Kinn was his cousin, but we didn't get anything from Kinn. Why is that? That makes no sense. Fortunately, Mile is a competent actor. If Kinn was played by someone else, Kinn would be even less present because not a lot of actors can do as much with so little because the talent and skill isn't there.

Alright, now that I can have *coherent thoughts* because what the actual fuck Wilbur Soot, my brain was melting, here are some genuine thoughts on the characters and lore :')
Spoilers for the Wilbur Soot finale btw if you couldn't tell
So- let's start with Wilbur (duh?). This entire apology arc has just been pain after pain leading to this and I love it as an author but I hate it as a fan because it makes me sad. Phil told him he needed to heal on his own even if people didn't forgive him... so he did. Fundy didn't forgive him and ran away to get away from him- Wilbur didn't forgive himself and ran away to save Tommy the pain of having to do it himself. Wilbur freed Tommy from Dream, then he freed his little brother from himself. Niki taught him that everyone deserves happiness, Wilbur went back to Utah to find it. Wilbur saw what it looked like when Tommy hated him, when he was unforgivable, and he decided he'd do anything to never see that again. "Never trust an American" - "Never trust me (we all heard that much. I'm not going to pretend its profound). Never trust me, I've showed you what happens when you trust me. You lose your lives, you loose me, and even if you loose nothing, I can make you believe you've lost everything." I would love to say that this had an impact on his character from the very creation of Lmanberg, but it started and ended with sillies so we're just gonna let them all be sillies and goddammit I need at least one thing to laugh about right now let me HAVE THIS.
He left to go find peace. He followed in Phil's footsteps, he left Tommy to watch as he took Wilbur away from him; he followed in Fundy's footsteps, he ran away. For all Wilbur preaches about himself being a leader and the only fit to be in positions of power, he sure as hell doesn't make his own paths. For all his bravado, Wilbur follows.
If this was the end of cTommy in the dsmp, I will be even more sad. If this is legitimately it for him, then I don't know how to possibly spin it into a happy ending for him. But I'm going to start my genuine analysis further back.
The start of the apology arc: do we all believe that Tommy didn't hear a single word of the advice Phil gave Wilbur? I don't. He was probably right outside the door listening in and finding a growing hope that his brother would realize his mistakes and then they could find happiness again. Together. That "Wilbur" as he stood outside the doorway was hopeful, expectant even. He was disappointed, but he's learned to not expect perfection from Wilbur so he sticks with him. Even if he has to wait, even if he, the one closest to Wilbur, is the last to receive an apology, he'll get to be happy with his big brother again.
Then the discs. Its something of a final straw. He wants to trust Wilbur. Even if he's hesitant, he still gives in and he trusts him. Then Wilbur threatens to destroy himself and he destroys the discs. He has attempted to burn two of Tommy's greatest treasures. But again, he wants to trust Wilbur, so he apologizes and Tommy forgives him. Again.
Wilbur takes him past where Boner was killed. Tommy hates it, this is where Ranboo lost a life because of him, where Wilbur lied and denied that he hurt Tommy. Wilbur acts like its a good thing. Tommy realizes that Wilbur still hasn't healed. This isn't the man who started the drug van with him. Wilbur tells him he's going far far away and the last time he saw him he was threatening to kill himself for Tommy's sake. What else is Tommy supposed to think? If he's leaving Tommy, then this has to be his apology because he wouldn't just not realize how much he hurt him right? Right? And if he's willing to go to that lengths for the discs, then why not for justice. Then he says he going to Utah. He's American, the reason they started L'manberg. It's all been a lie. He asks in the way he was taught by dream, hurt them, dig in where you know it hurts with your words, demand, and when words fail, use violence.
"I don't know why I did that... I didn't use to be this angry" You used to be a kid and in many ways you still are. You used to be happy, you used to trust, you used to know you were loved. And now Wilbur is trying to leave and that last bit of your childhood it starting to look further and further away Tommy.
AND THEN HE SAYS THE QUIET PART OUT LOUD! WHY CAN'T YOU EVER SAY SORRY. And then Wilbur says he's leaving because if someone doesn't fogive you you have to accept that and get out of their life because he doesn't believe Tommy could eve forgive him. And then we get the Utah reveal and the "it can't end like this" because how can everything that they've stuck together through and the death and pain they've endured, how can it all culminate in Wilbur running back to a gas station in Utah. And even as Wilbur says the discs and dream were an apology, he can't even say the words "I'm sorry in reference to it. Tommy tells him to forgive himself because maybe, just maybe, if they're still brothers bonded together, Wilbur will keep that part of his heart that is Tommy and he'll choose to stay.
Tommy gets his apology (I would kill to know what that book says) and they both laugh as Wilbur rows off into the sea towards Utah. But Tommy's laughs are choked with sobs that Wilbur doesn't hear over the sound of his coming freedom. And then he's gone and for the second time, Tommy has watched Wilbur leave. For the who even knows how many-th time, someone doesn't give Tommy the only thing he wants: For someone to stay and love him.
Wilbur's gone and Tommy is left on a beach (not Logstedshire this time) crying, alone, and in the rain. Exile broke Tommy because he was alone. Tommy is alone, so he breaks.

RGverse Story Summary (Season 1: Part 1)
i was too lazy to continue on so have the summary from arc 1 to arc 7
———
i have......a lot to say before we start, actually.
and it's about the post title. you see the "season 1" thing? yeah. the main storyline is split into seasons.
season 1 is supposed to focus on ars and the more earlier characters i've made more i think. it's also supposed to go in depth with ars' conflict with dark ars, and maybe some destonio-fate lore too.
season 2 is more focused on the severed eden gang, mainly abstruse tho. it's also more focused on the rest of team destruction as a whole, and this season is overall the one that ends the story completely.
now.......there's a third season. "oh! season 3?!" WRONG! season 1.5
it serves as a bridge between season 1 and 2. it has two arcs, with the first arc focusing on one objective and also on the conclusion of two specific characters, while the second arc focuses a little more on ana, primeval, and technicolour.
OKAY DONE FINALLY. LET US START NOW. THERE'S ARCS HERE TOO BTW. OK LET'S START FOR REAL THIS TIME. NO PROCRASTINATING ONCE AGAIN. FUCK IT WE BALL.
———
• arc 1: starting arc
i don't have names for these arcs so just take random words/sentences that have smth to do with the story of the arc itself ok thanx
anyways, i think it's safe to say arc 1 focuses on introducing some of the characters here first. i think the characters introduced are ars, lucas, ana, aresi (she only appears for like a brief moment sorry aresi 😔), the thunderriders members, fate, and destonio. that's abt it
this arc also focuses on introducing the conflict in hand; team destruction and a weird reoccuring dream ars keeps having for some reason.
as for the dream, the premise is always the same; the sky for some reason is pink and there's a weird gateway to god knows where that sucks in everything in the world and ultimately causes destruction and shit. some guy (supposed to be abstruse) is just watching some girl (supposed to be arghena) cause everything and be the bad bitch she is. also in the dream ars just watches some randos (supposed to be the rest of severed eden) die one by one in the same ways every single goddamn time (like the lore related art i posted like. so so long ago).
the dreams always ends up in both abstruse and arghena being consumed by a rlly bright light and them boom. ars wakes up. how odd.
timeskip to like. awhile after he got the dreams. he constantly get those dreams and then finally he got tired so he consulted to aresi abt it. "dude maybe you're going insane how abt you go on a morning stroll to keep yourself sane" she said.
and he fucking did that (idiot).
during that walk he met lucas who just got to the cantate kingdom. lucas was like, looking for a place to stay ig so ars was like, "oh you can stay at my place!!!!" like the fuckinh IDIOT HE IS. lucas agreedeither way bc he"$ greedy as hell at the time. i'm not even gonna bother fixing the typos but you get it right
anywayzzzzz after awhile ars told lucas abt that dream bc lucas was like "yo why do you look like you're gonna lose your sanity 💀💀💀💀💀" and uh yea. lucas did NOT suggested that ars should go to a therapist but instead told him that he should actually find the answer himself. and then boom. actual shit begins
they went to the astra kingdom first bc ars wanted to visit ana first. ars tells her abt the dream, and then she agrees to come with him and lucas. and then whoooooshhhhhh to modelista city they go
they nearly got killed once they stepped foot into it btw.
DON'T WORRY THO!!!!!! TROJAN IS HERE TO SAVE THE DAY!1!1!1!11!1!1
trojan then offers to take the trio to the thunderriders base and then foosh. they meet the rest of the thunderriders :)
also i never rlly mentioned who the thunderriders members are so lemme just list it here uhhhh:
- tempo
- shifta
- trojan
- galactic
- satellite
- terabyte
- glaciaxion
- pamolia
- pupa (tho at the time he didn't appeared yet lol)
- aleph-0
yeah.
anyways
moving on
tempo told ars, lucas, and ana abt their goal in defeating team destruction, and how if team destruction successfully carries out their plan to destroy the entirety of planet earth (LMAO AORRU CALLING IT PLANET EARTH IS FUNNY TO ME), then everyone is doomed (and they'll probs die obv)
i think the best way to kick off this arc was to have them be in a bit of danger facing the thunderriders' enemies; team destruction.
well. it's just their minions that came to fucking obliterate them but THATS BESIDES THE POINT. THEVPOIMT ISSSSSS. FATE CAME TO SAVE RHEM BC THEY NEARLY DIED.
FATEEEEEEEE THE FIRST BEST GIRL HERE (i still ly primeval i prommy)
also the arc rlly ends when destonio first appears. he would say smth abt lumine ig. and abt how he hates everything. based destonio moment
from here, pls keep in mind that their objectives are:
1. defeating team destruction and their plan to destroy the world, and
2. find out an answer to ars' dream
———
• arc 2: oh god things get a lil tricky arc
THE ARC NAMR YOODBYE.
anyways, in this arc we get to know more abt fate. the Sillies™ find out that she's a fucking goddess and nearly everyone freaked out. ars might look like he's calm abt this when he is screaming on the inside.
Tumblr media
^ visual presentation
moving on from that, fate was like "oh i'm just visitinf here ykyk hot girl stuff" and lucas was like "okay bozo" wow soooo misogynistic /j
suddenly some guy comes into the base. fate was shockex enough to seehim BC IT TURNS OUT IT'S DESTONIO⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️
anyways convo between fate and destonio in a nutshell ig:
fate: what the FUCK
destonio: HELLO LUMINE.
fate: NO SHUT THE FUCK UP GET AWAY FOM ME I'? NOT LUMINE
destonio: oh. i get it now. so you decidsd to go by a new fucking identity
destonio: ok fine whatever idgaf anymore.
destonio: anyways hello everyone
ars: What The Fuck.
things went normal after that for some reason. fate, despite her horror of reuniting with destonio, decided to bother him either way. "dEsTo ThIs, DeStO tHaT, WHEN EILL SHE LESVE ME ALONE??????" my guy you fucking asked for this yk 💀
anyways after so much filler stuff we finally get to the part things get interesting. dark ars starts invading ars in his sleep instead of the reoccuring dream he always has every night. dark ars is like "hey ars can i. can i take over." and ars would be like "NO??????? LEAVE ME ALONE????"
ok ok uhhh after so much tormenting and even more filler stuff, the Sillies™ start to realize Something Is Wrong with ars. trojan decided to interrogate ars alone on that matter
Worst mistake possible.
because dark ars was annoyed enough by this to the point where he actually makes ars suffer and feel so much physical pain during the interrogation, which honestly sounds like a shitty premise, but i'm writing this on the spot, so that's why it's shitty. trojan was fucking concerned, let me tell you that.
he was all like, "ars!!!!!!!! are you fucking ok??????!!!!!!!!!!!!" and ars is like "NO I'M NOT." and then after so long dark ars finally takes over and nearly kills trojan. ouch.
lucas managed to confront dark ars abt this and was like "ars?? what the fuck man????" and dark ars was like "shut the fuck up human. i'm seriously going to kill each and everyone of you lowly idiots."
"OUCH??????" — fate, probably.
anyways they managed to defeat ars, but fate accidentally summons a portal that takes ars to a whole different place. probs far away from modelista city. "ms. fate....what the hell???" tempo asked.......this isn't a fic.
the arc ends with ars just....waking up elsewhere. as for where it is.....we'll find out in a little bit.
———
• arc 3: aegle city arc
uwogh
i....originally didn't exactly want to put aegleseeker as a main character in the story, but now that i think abt it, he can be a supporting character in a sense.
anyways ars turns out to have woken up in aegle city, a city that.......is currently trapped in an eternal night.
heh. mlp moment /j
ars woke up in some house ig, so he quickly realized someone found him unconscious and took him in. turns out that someone is- OH MY GOD THE AEGLESEEKER HIMSELF??????!!!!!!
yea. it could get weirder and nonsensical from here /j again
i don't have much to say abt this arc, other than the fact that ars and aegleseeker just.....help each other in a sense ykyk? it's just them bonding and becoming besties somewhat.
at one point tessi gets mentioned. aegleseeker criticised her for making this world somewhat odd. he also criticised amazing mighty at the same time. this guy is rlly bold.
not much to say abt this arc. it's...really boring compared to the other two ones i think.
IT ACTUALLY DOESN'T END THERE THO.
ars has to get tormented by dark ars again,,,,,,,,,
after that, ars decided to distance himself from aegleseeker, which obviously made him confused. like i would be confused too if my friend started distancing themself from me and talked to me less. he just didn't know that ars is doing that for his safety.
eventually, ars ran away from aegle city, not even telling aegleseeker first. that...definitely made the latter felt a bit hurt in some way, but he's good at hiding things, so that's not obvious enough from the outside.
in the end, we shift focuses...
———
• arc 4: lucid traveler arc
huh? lucid traveler? could this mean.....oh! lucas is the main focus here now!
it turns out, during ars' time in aegle city, the rest of the thunderriders were trying to find him. fate didn't talked to them that much out of guilt. destonio just went along i guess.
ig throughout this arc lucas reminisces on his time with ars. it's short, but he ended up feeling a lot of things because of his time with ars LMAO.
oh god,,,,feelings?
also at one point pamolia takes the spotlight, which definitely teases something for a future arc lol
god this is all going so slow i hate this AHAHSHDBUDDBF
in the end, one day, lucas decided to find ars all by himself when one can least expect it. after some finding and even more reminiscing, he ended up finding ars in the end. they're not in modelista city anymore btw. they're kind of nearly back in the cantate kingdom, but not exactly there either.
ars was literally trying to avoid lucas so dark ars doesn't hurt him, but lucas just kept on coming to him even more. it can't be helped when dark ars decided to take over eventually. they both then had a super intense fight (real) and despite all of dark ars' efforts, he actually lost Again. he ended up falling unconscious again, and because he felt pity for ars, lucas decided to jusf LEAVE HIM LIKR THAT WHAT THE UFCK MENA.
uh. anyways.
———
• arc 5: malware arc
oh wow. it's trojan time besties
the main character here is still lucas honestly lmao, but the real main focus here is trojan
lucas got back to the thunderriders base after some time, and the first thing he saw was trojan and terabyte watching the fucking news.
yeah, apparently, the deal with ars and dark ars got a bit out of control, huh?
the whole first part of this arc is pretty normal.......until we get to the second bit. tempo and shifta start to notice something wrong with trojan. trojan starts to say...really weird stuff, like "haha guys what if someone here betrays us or something?" or "y'know, a traitor could be among us (SUS???? /J), right?" OR "[insert name of anyone near him right now], don't you think acting is a strange thing to be made into a profession?"
they both didn't exactly mind this at first, but then the questions and what-if scenarios get even weirder and that certainly made tempo a bit suspicious. so, he decided to confront trojan abt it.
tempo, being dumb for once, tried to force an answer out of trojan bc for some reason he isn't giving any answers???? dawg what are you hiding m8.
WELL.
TURNS OUT.
HE IS INDEED HIDING SOMETHING.
.......
..
.KDCNFK
um
he.
he"$.
he's a spy from team destruction.
HE HAD TO EXPLAIN THIS TO TEMPO SO THAT HE DOESN'T GET KILLED OR WHATEVER BUT BASICALLY the reason why he became a spy for team destruction was because they offered him a good enough deal and they thought he'd make a good enough spy considering how close he is with tempo, the leader.
he was like "oh yea sure i hate the mfs here anyways lmaoooo" at first but then he got attached. that's how you know things got bad for him.
tempo was a bit disappointed at first, but then he was like "alright fine." trojan was relieved that he was forgiv—
"but what about that time you asked me about something related to acting?"
shit.
he doesn't trust him yet.
and now he thinks trojan is acting all of this time when he is NOT acting.
"it's just something related to this...whole ordeal. sorry."
this is really shitty ngl /hsrs
anyways trojan felt a bit bad after that, because tempo started avoiding him a lil more, and that's when the conflict between them started.
oh dw abt them, they'll solve things once.....uhhhhhhh season 2 comes in /hj
———
• arc 6: confrontation arc
WE'RE BACK WITH ARSI CANT ATE BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
uh. so!
ars is actually back in the cantate kingdom! with aresi and his parents! how peaceful!
......ok not rlly actually lmfao
dark ars continues to torment him every night in his sleep. it irritates ars a lot, honestly, so yikes. BUT THAT ALL CHANGED ON ONE FATE(oh hi girly /j)FUL NIGHT.
ars meets dark ars in the dream world AGAIN. BUT THIS TIME......ARS HAS HAD ENOUGH OF HIS SHIT‼️
ars and dark ars have a lil duel and shit, but then, for some reason, dark ars got defeated again for some reason. what a bitch (affectionate). the two then have a lil talk! like a heart to heart, bc that's all dark ars is capable of at this rate.
basically, their conversation was abt how dark ars is a personification of ars' self hatred and perfectionism. it's hard to explain without his backstory post bc i haven't posted his yet (i wanna finish up on the worldbuilding ones first lol), but yeah, that's the gist here.
if ars learns to accept himself more, then dark ars will disappear and stop bothering him. as a little extra, dark ars will become one with ars. ars then decided to just accept himself for who he is and then boom! he wakes up with dark ars now being an actual part of him that he'll appreciate a little more!
also he gets a new look that i actually used for his proseka stamp redraw, but i haven't made a ref sheet yet lmaoooo
ars tells his whole family abt this and they all hug and cry in joy <3333
ars then decided to get back to modelista city to find the thunderriders, lucas, ana, fate, and destonio again.
———
• arc 7: OH GOD THE GANG IS BACK TOGETHER BUT. BUT LUMINE AND DESTONIO LORE ARC??????
OH GOD FINALLY THE FOCUS IS ON DESTONIO LETS FUCKING GO.
but for a small half of this arc lucars is the focus (yay)
ars gets back to the thunderriders base and literally crushes lucas and ana with the most biggest bear hug ever. what a silly guy. "if we started this together, then we might as well end this together too." he told the two of them.....haa......i love tjem....
anywayzzzzzz the focus is finally on destonio after that. basically he keeps talking about this lumine girl, and how he misses her, even if he hates to admit it sometimes. that obviously made fate a lil frowny lol
ars tries to get an answer from destonio regarding who lumine is, but destonio refuses to answer.
howeverrrr pov switch to destonio just for the sake of flashbacks happen.
throughout the arc, random flashbacks pop up here and there. uhhh the premise of each flashback goes like this:
1. flashback 1: lumine and destonio's first meeting basically. rlly basic shit.
2. flashback 2: the two of them finding out one is older than the other and vice versa when they saw each other at high school, followed by lumine teasing destonio abt his short height that fits his age. destonio Does Not like this at all.
3. flashback 3: The Besties™ hanging out at an amusement park. they got ice cream too and destonio jokes abt how lumine would be a messy eater when HE'S THE ONE WHO HAS ICE CREAM ALL OVER HIS MOUTH LMAO
4. flashback 4: this is where things get...concerning. i think. lumine rants abt how much she hates this world and how she'd rather be dead then see The Horrors™. needless to say destonio was fucking confused.
5. flashback 5: basically what one of my vent arts reference. "i wanna die, and when i die, i'm going to ascend to heaven and be god's most special angel ever! haha- eh? why are you looking at me like that, desto?"
6. flashback 6: lumine tells destonio abt an upcoming summer festival that they both should go to. this is foreshadowing Very Bad Events.
7. flashback 7 (THE LAST ONE BTW GOD BLESS): lumine and destonio are near the edge of a cliff. lumine tells destonio stuff that are muffled out for some reason (to add to that mysteriousness frfr) and then the firework show happened and then—
ah.
that's all.
———
yea this is all i can write for now. i'll probs continue either today, tonight, or tmrw. depends rlly lol
uhhh if you have any questions feel free to ask me! i love getting asks :)
also this is indeed very shitty-ly put together i apologize in advance. maybe one day future me will look back at this and go "oh god this is bad i need to rewrite this" but for now! this.

What's your thought abt ch204 esp. regarding suwon snapping at our yas queen yona?
Hi, anon!  After reading the fan translation (still waiting for LMS of course, but I trust the fans' work), I give this chapter a grade of Not As Bad As I Thought It Would Be.  It wasn't that good, but it wasn't terrible either.  I love Meinyan despite her cloyingly cute animal sidekick and I'm glad we got at least a glimpse of Suwon's reasoning for hating Hiryuu (it's not just about the stupid illness, yayyy!).  Also, shoutout to Keishuk for making me lose my mind, jfc.
Tumblr media
Call this Akatsuki no Yona ch. 2 because he's still coming for Yona's life.  What an icon.
As for Suwon snapping a bit, I liked it!  It's far from everything I want from him or for Yona, but it's a good start.  I think both he and Yona were very much in-character during their actual confrontation, so it felt like an genuine culmination of their tension and not just a Yas Queen moment.  Her body language parallels the "give yourself to me!" scene with Hak (which, btw, was not a romantic gesture on her end, so idk why some HakYona fans are worried about this parallel?) and she's making a very Yona-typical leap that Suwon sees her as Hiryuu just like everyone else.  And Suwon doesn't cave for once — he looks her in the eyes and tells her, in no uncertain terms, that this isn't about her.
Tumblr media
Ahh, the angery kitty face.  Almost too adorable to take seriously. :3
Suwon is responding to her meddling, yes, but he's also responding directly to her "you don't need me" line.  She hears "I'm so sick of … King Hiryuu" and "I don't need it" as applying to her, but he's saying no, that had nothing to do with you.  It's … honestly very sweet that he's still drawing a line between her and Hiryuu.  He thinks better of her and probably doesn't want her to be burdened with whatever Il told him about that night.  idk if Yona actually understood the second meaning of his words, but from our POV, it's very important.
That's also why I hesitate to see this as the Snapped Suwon content we've been waiting for.  Although he doesn't validate Yona's assumptions, Suwon still isn't really calling her or Hiryuu out on their hypocrisy.  I get the vibe that he's just trying to protect her, both from whatever that Il flashback is hiding and from the hard decisions that he himself has to make.  His expression reminds me more of when Jaeha tried to stop Yona from investigating nadai than of someone reaching an emotional limit; he's pissed, sure, but not because he's bitter and in pain.  This is probably mostly anger from a place of love, not from a place of being fed up with everything and everyone.  If Suwon could dip into the latter for once, I'd really appreciate that …
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My only real hangup about this moment is the "look at me"/"look into my eyes!" thing.  It's applicable to this specific moment, I guess, but it's also weird because, like … Suwon has been looking at her?  And not only during the castle arc, either; their confrontation during the nadai arc had some pretty intense eye contact.  Dramatic stares are kind of their thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's a little hard to tell because Yona is so short, but their eye lines match up in each of these scenes.  Suwon doesn't always look away.  He tries to avoid interacting if he can, of course, but I think it's weird to imply that he hasn't been meeting her eyes when he obviously has, and very recently at that.  This scene in ch. 204 is one of the few times when their interaction was clearly marked by lack of eye contact from the beginning.  idk, it's just a really weird thing for her to "call out" as though it's an ongoing problem.
(Also, I personally don't like that the narrative/Yona is making the common association between avoidance/disrespect/guilt and lack of eye contact, because I myself have a lot of trouble with eye contact that doesn't tie into any of those states of mind — i.e. undiagnosed neurodivergence go brrr.  I see forcing eye contact as a huge violation of boundaries, even if the other person is avoiding it out of guilt/disrespect/whatever; so, I really can't "side" with Yona here.  Again, it's totally in-character for her to do, but it's just another example of her Cool Girl Badass actions rubbing me the wrong way because of my personal experiences and my empathy with the person on the receiving end.)
Anyway, yeah, I liked this two-page moment they had!  As far as the next page where she pulls the Yonhi Card again, uhh … I don’t really wanna get into that, but suffice to say that it's getting old.  As much as Kusanagi is seemingly going out of her way to prove me right about Yona’s core character traits (I'm telling y'all, she’s presumptuous! that’s part of who she is!!), I still think she doesn’t see Yona’s flaws as flaws.  Yona’s compassion is conditional and largely based on conveniently correct assumptions about the people around her, so I’m at least glad that Suwon pushed back on one of her assumptions; but when I think about Snapped Suwon, what I really want to see is him pushing back on the kind of behavior that Yona and Yonhi have embodied.  Just because you have good intentions doesn’t mean that, say, selling your son out to his father’s killer or lighting a false war beacon are okay things to do.  Even if Suwon just told Yona to stop bringing up Yonhi as if she understands how he feels about her, that’d be great.  He’s still very soft on Yona and reticent about his mother, though, so idk if we’ll ever see him snap like that.

hi im a dumbass why do we hate gran torino?
Well...
A few disclaimers first:
1. I'm not reading the manga rn, I'm not updated on what happened ever since ch. 278 and I don't wanna be
2. I can't answer for all the people who hate him, just for myself, so this is my take
3. I have always been very biased against Gran Torino because I find him a self-righteous imbecile and I hate all self-righteous characters. So I'm not objective here.
4. I don't wanna get dragged in the current discourse so this is the last I'm gonna say about it and I'll delete any possible baits/questions I'll get after answering this
Ok so
Personally, the reason why I strongly dislike Gran Torino is because of his aforementioned self-righteousness. He thinks he's acting in the best interest of the people he cares about, Toshinori and Nana, while also essentially doing everything we were told by the narrative they didn't want.
As for Toshinori, he immediately shot down his empathy for Shigaraki by giving him a pep talk about how Shigaraki was supposedly "past the point of saving", which is a pretty damn harsh judgement considering the kid has been kidnapped when he was a five year old and abused into embracing violence ever since. In doing so, and in shooting down All Might's desire to reacue him from Afo, Gran Torino essentially:
1. Arbitrarily decided which victims "deserve" to be saved from abuse and which ones don't
2. Left Shigaraki with the man who killed Nana and ruined her future with her family, knowing how much Afo was capable of evil and his grudge against All Might and also knowing Afo was using (and abusing) a human being to emotionally torture Toshinori
3. Invalidated Toshinori's feelings of guilt and responsibility over Nana's legacy, on top of disrespecting Nana's own
Then the current war arc rolled around and he straight up wanted to kill Shigaraki. He said his existence only caused others grief when that's blatantly untrue. Shigaraki gave safety, belonging and freedom of expression to all League members. What Gran Torino meant was that Shigaraki's existence made Toshinori feel guilt. Which he should feel. Because hero society failed Tenko multiple times btw. Even when he was still living in the Shimura estate and wasn't yet "too far gone".
Let's remember here that Toshinori wanted to rescue Shigaraki from Afo. So when Gran Torino tries to kill him, he's not acting on behalf of Toshinori's best interest, but his own flawed self-righteousness.
Then there's also the fact that he justifies this attempted murder as trying to cleanse Nana's legacy. Which. Is another occurrence of him acting like he's doing something for someone else's sake while doing the very thing that person wouldn't approve of.
Nana fostered her son Kotaro because she wanted to keep him safe and away from harm. She failed, obviously, but this isn't about her. The thing is, she died trying to protect her legacy. To keep it away from Afo.
Gran Torino not only was okay with Shigaraki staying with Afo "because he's bad now", bur he also tried to kill Nana's legacy. All the while saying that Shigaraki was disrespecting it by being alive and evil.
So you see. The reason why I hated Gran Torino and I'm not sad over his death, is because he never once considered his own share of responsibilities in Tenko's disappearance and villain radicalization. That Tenko so easily fell through the cracks is a failure of hero society, but heroes like Gran Torino prefer demonizing villains (even those who didn't choose villainy, but where kidnapped, conditioned and brainwashed into it) and washing their hands of their victimhood once it starts inconveniencing them. When heroics should be all about saving and rehabilitating people.
There is no "good victim" who deserves to be saved and no "bad victim" who crossed an imaginary line, only victims and people who are too caught up in their own moral upper ground to realize that victimhood is not a choice
So yeah I hated him and I won't be missing him tbh

Basically a review of OP episode 503 ig
Currently rewatching post-war arc (in the dub so I don't have any screenshots for u guys sry) and theres a few things id like to point out.
During a conversation Dadan once had with Garp, they were talking about Roger. Garp said that even if they were facing powerful enemies, he would never run away because he wouldnt dare leaving his comrads behind; it wasnt an option for him. Obviously we see this in Ace. But ALSO, isnt this what he did with Katakuri? It was a little different cuz of the setting mostly, but he separated himself from his crew to fight off katakuri, and lied to them about being okay so they didn't worry (he was already getting his ass kicked by then, so he just made that stupid smile and told them not to worry (or smth like that, I can remember the exact line) (that smile was so gross and fake cuz he fucking sucks at lying). Also he said roger destroyed a buncha soldiers cuz they mouthed off his men. That's what Ace tried to do but instead he died. :(
"The pain he went through just made him hold on tighter to the ones he loved" -Garp, about Roger. "Despite his flaws and his bad reputation, his crew still trusted him completely." -also Garp, about Roger. These both sound a lot like Luffy AND Ace.
When Dogra got home and told everyone about Sabo's ship being shit down and him dying (which we all know didnt happen, thank fuck), (by the way the absolutely lost looks on Ace's and Luffy's faces with the sudden silence hurt like a bitch), Luffy started crying and said "WE SHOULDNT'A LET HIM GO, IT'S ALL OUR FAULT". Which fucking says something about him (thinking of episodes 913-915 when he goes fucking berserk, but before that he learns that Kaido probably killed Tama and he says "I should've escorted them..!" (*ugly cries*)). Ace also reacted pretty similarly-- "Sabo...why didn't we go back into town and bring him back here?! We're so stupid!" And he gets mad and asks where he could find the bastard that killed him (obviously not getting a good answer since it was a fucking celestial dragon ugh). That is what Luffy does, in present time. He results to anger first, not sadness. Not sure when he learned to do that but I'm 99 percent sure it was from Ace. Also the blaming himself thing? High chance thats ALSO from Ace. Who else would teach him that self hating behaviour?!
Dadan pins Ace down to stop him from going after the Celestial Dragon to calm him down, telling him he cant do anything, he's not big or strong enough to do anything and he'll be killed as soon as he tries anything, especially since it was the whole country -the whole WORLD- that killed Sabo. He can't do anything. And then they tied him to a tree outside to let him cool off. Oh yeah then he also told luffy to stop crying like a little girl or else he'll- (and he didn't finish the sentence). ...Ok maybe thats why luffy started being more angry than sad.
This is where things get a little more :( . Ace reads the letter Sabo sent them before he died. As he reads, he walks to the end of the forest, to a cliff overlooking the ocean. And starts fucking bawling (btw the voice actor who had Ace's childhood part did not do a very good job, no where near as in character and real as Coleen Clickenberg did with all of Luffy's crying scenes. She was spot on.) ...do you see where im going with that? He isolated himself before letting himself feel sad. It was all rage and then calm beforehand. Y-you see where im going with that. Dont make me say it.
"How's Luffy doing, is he any better?" "Well...he hasnt been eating much, but he still eats twice as much as we do". Oh look, That's what happened after Ace died too. There's a behavioral pattern that hasnt gone away. Not sure why it wouldve tho.
Luffy is mopeing, lying on the ground in a similar setting ace was at when he cried. Hes thinking about some of the things Sabo said, like how theyre gonna sail the seas together, and he clenches his hands into tight, shaking fists. After Ace shows up and hits him, and talking abt some other stuff I don't feel like relaying, Luffy tightens his grip on the straw hat and tells ace, whimpering, he wants to get stronger (and stronger, and stronger, and stronger and stronger and....) And he wants to be the strongest in the world. "And then, I'll protect everyone. I won't lose anyone I care about". He gets stronger mainly to protect the people he loves. And then he asks ace to promise he won't die. To which he hits Luffy again and tells him he should be more worried about himself dying first. And then the famous line that hurts like a bitch- "I'm NEVER going to DIE!" And then this hopeful music comes on (fucking damnit funimation, u gotta do this? Really??) Also he says he wont die as long as he has a wussy little brother to protect. ...FUCK. Ok, the fist clenching is a thing he does all the fucking time, usually when he gets mad. This was different because he wasnt mad, he was sad. He clenched his fist because thinking about it hurt. Which, huh, sounds a lot like his whole episode after waking up from his 2 week coma on the polar tang. To try and stop the mental pain of those horrendous memories, he resulted to physically pain. He hurt himself. So, He clenches his fists in times like these to fight off the mental pain and the urge to cause himself physical pain. Guys, our boy is bad at emotions, help him. ....ok this paragraph is longer than I anticipated so ill dumb down the rest of it ig. Next part, him asking ace to promise he wont die. The music, the body language, the over change in mood- this comforts him. He stopped hiding his face and silently sobbing after ace said this. OH YEAH! didn't he tell jinbe not to die when they parted ways in Totto Land? And then, hes missing still in Wano and we see Luffy is worried....but convinced Jinbe will show up. Again, this comforts him. Hes nervous cuz someone KOFF KOFF ACE broke that promise once. But jinbe is his crew mate so he trusts him, thank god.
"-But whoever did it, they must be opposed to freedom." The whole freedom thing? That runs through Luffy's blood and spirit. His brothers fought for it, his dad is the man who strives to give everyone freedom basically, and Luffy himself has seen enough of the OPPOSITE of freedom to be so, so much more than just against it. Hence why he of course was so eager to free the slaves in Sabaody, the kids in punk hazard, the toys in dressrosa, the country of Wano from Kaido's tyrany. The apple doesnt fall far from the tree huh.
I dont think Luffy would remember his promise with Shanks if it werent for his brothers putting feul to his dream. It was a stupid bet at first; he just wanted to beat Shanks, right then. But after meeting Sabo and Ace, he found the opposite of freedom and human rights. And then he wanted, REALLY wanted, to become the free-est man in the world; the pirate king.
Last one i promise ok? This one is less connected to whats going on in the episode at this point, but something I noticed (its so obvious everyone has seen this ok) was when luffy cries, his posture is always open. He doesn't curl in on himself like many people would do (I know I would, lol). He doesnt hug himself, protect himself. He's just, opened up to whoever is watching, literally. This has a little more to do with something I haven't talked about much in this post yet; his self-destruction issues. I said he tried to hurt himself when he felt mental pain, which is definitely similar. But he cries and doesnt try to protect or comfort himself, like he doesn't have that programmed into his mind. Reminder that he only wants to live because of his dream, and if he doesnt have his dream, he wants to die. (Whoa.). Ok, so no self preservation mechanism at all rlly. Hes basically ride or die. So, when things hurt so much that he cries, he has no hope left. He just kinda...dies inside. So this was mildly different after sabo died. Yes we saw him just standing there, sobbing. But the next day he's still crying, and instead he's laying on the ground. I saw that and the voice in the back of my head told me he wanted to be a part of that lifeless dirt beneath him. Then, Ace walked over. And his words made him feel the hope that I told you about earlier, and he sat up into a sitting position. And HUGGED HIS LEGS TO HIS CHEST. There's some self preservation! Some hope! Some will to exist, to live! Something we saw none of as he sat in front of his brothers corpse, shutting down. He sat there, open to his enemies, incapable of protecting himself. Practically anyone couldve killed him right then and there. I think he mightve liked that, at that moment. Like thank god he has that stupidly good luck cuz if he didn't I swear someone couldve thrown and axe or FUCKING ANYTHING AT THAT MOMENT and hed be dead becuase he never physically or mentally prepared himself. On purpose.
Our poor boy needs some fucking attention and therapists. (Insert my rant post about how jinbe is on the crew primarily for anger management and therapy, not just being a helmsman.) Ugh, smh ugly cries
Aaaaand thats about the end of the episode. Theres so many little tics and peesonality traits that you notive thru this episode, and I only noticed them cuz im rewatching this part of the show for like the third time. I don't react as much as the first time of course but some things are definitely sadder after knowing what's going on and what will happen later on.
Moral of the story (post)? I think luffy is almost equally as alike -if not, more similar to roger as ace is. Also, high key genuinely think Luffy met like NO ONE but Garp before he met Shanks and his crew. What the fuck was his first like 5 years of being alive like? (He wantd to be a pirate cuz Garp didnt want that. Rebellious baby asshole. And then shanks made things worse, in a good way for luffy. And then ace and sabo made that worse thing worse for a good reason. Luffy lives...for those influences. And that is fucking it. Why.
Tumblr media
Oh thanks tumblr for moving my picture to the bottom of the post u fucking idiot

I know this might be weird but can you pinpoint what Eren actual plan is actually is? I still don't believe his declaration and i'm sure there is more that meets the eye. Can you give any other probability of what his real plan is judging from his character before his POV was shut off. Can you also include how the role of Kruger memory and advise to Grisha helped shaped the current Eren since I see a lot of similarities between the two in this final arc
The same dude btw. Do you have any theory on why Eren set up PATHS discord to declare his goal. Don't get me wrong but so far Eren intention has been presented as noble even though his method and goal isn't. The intention we have gotten from other character POV btw is to protect his friends and Paradise. What then do Eren benefit from monologuing like a stereotypical villain before unleashing his plan? He isn't the type to instill fear into people before killing them. That's OOC for him
The wall titans will take days or even weeks before they realistically reach the shores of Marley. Maybe it cause of bias but if I want to commit a genocide with something as slow as the wall titan, I will cut off flow of information so that they will meet their doom by surprise. Also thanks to him announcing his goal, he has helped clear indecisiveness for any Paradisians that's opposed to that outcome. Did he really expect Armin to sit still and allow him after what he pulled in 112?
Lastly, in Eren memory shard. We saw a shard of the fez boy whom he was looking at the last night. The general consensus among the fandom is that Eren decided for the genocide after what transpired in the meeting but if Eren really went out of his way to meet that boy after he ditched the SC, that kind of puts a dent in his genocide plan cause that shard looks to pure with the hand placed on shoulder and the whole body language. Sorry for rambling too much. I know it kind of makes other
characters development pointless if Eren isn't genuine. But it's just like saying Mikasa character development when Eren died is pointless cause Eren came back alive. I don't know if I make sense
One question, I want to ask about Kruger word on the wall " you have to complete your mission if you want to save Mikasa, Armin and everyone". Are we supposed to ignore that line or is it retconned or what? Many of the analysis I see base off of post timeskip Eren with no POV and ignoring established themes. I just see a lot of theory about big bad Eren and I can't help but wonder considering the scene was emphasized by both Grisha and Kruger. I feel like something is missing
Hello anons!
These asks can be answered together. I am also sorry for the wait since it has been a while since  I have received them.
I have talked about Eren here and in particular I have said this:
Finally, when it comes to Eren’s future development, I currently see two possibilities.
a)  Either we are given more information through Historia and his POV and this new information can modify the reading of Eren’s actions up until now.
b) He will grow and develop because of the actions of the   other characters exactly like them will grow because of his current   ones.
I think that point a and b which describe two possible ways in which Eren can gain future development lead to two different machro-theories I see going around.
1) Eren plans to turn himself into humaniy’s enemy, so that humanity can join hands, fight him and overcome their struggle in the meantime.
2) Eren’s wish to protect his home and loved ones coupled with his future memories led him to think that destroying the world is the only way he can ensure Paradis safet and so he is doing so even if he knows it is wrong.
I call them “machro-theories” because they can be interpreted in numerous ways and each one has a different nuance and a different spin to it. I am also sure that other explanations could be found, but, as for now, they are the two I find more plausible.
They can both make sense under certain conditions and I think they are the two ones that would have the more foreshadowing if proven true.
Now, let’s address some points you make against theory 2 and in favor of theory 1.
1) The boy with the fez.  I don’t think him appearing in Eren’s memories disproves nor proves anything. Him appearing in Eren’s memories shows how much important was that night for Eren himself. It is the last night he spends with the people he loves before leaving them and starting to act coldly towards them. What is more, the child is a person who reminds Eren of his past self since he is a victim of war and a refugee like he was. Because of this, it makes sense that Eren was such impressed by the child since he represents both his past self and how people outside and inside the walls are the same.
As a matter of fact even if Eren is indeed doing what he seems to be doing it does not mean that he does not realize its gravity (different from the Jeagersists). He clearly does. That is why he cries after seeing the child. It is because he realizes he will die together with other people when he activates the Rumbling. Or at least the hapter implies this.
Alternatively, in case theory 1 is correct, Eren crying might simply be because he is somehow giving up on his past and possibly on his future since he knows he needs to sacrifice himself.
2) Eren’s speech to the world Eldians.
As the first anon said in their asks, it might be a trick Eren is using to stage himself as the only true monster in order to unite the world against him.
Alternatively, someone (whose name I don’t remember, so tell me if yuou know) noticed that the Founding Titan powers seem to work without specific restrictions. So, for example, when Eren ordered that all the hardening had to become undone, not only the walls, but also Reiner and Annie resented of the effect of Eren’s order. So, Eren might have wanted to announce his plan only on the Eldians of Paradis, but ended up bradcasting to all the world Eldians. That said, I don’t find the theory that convincing even if it is interesting simply because Eren’s words seem to be directed to all Eldians.
3) Eren as an antagonist being against the themes.
To this I disagree. As a matter of fact a way to explore a theme is to have the MC have a tragic arc which embodies the opposite of a story themes. Because of this, having Eren who wants freedom ending up representing freedom’s opposite can be an effective way to explore the theme of “freedom”. If anything Eren manipulating everyone, so that things go according to his plan is something which risks not to fit with the idea of freedom. As a matter of fact, having a single character giving “freedom” to others through manipulation seems kind of hypocritical. That said, there could be ways in which theory 1 can be proven true without this happening. So we’ll see.
4) Kruger’s words. I have talked about Kruger’s words here:
He might be doing it because he has seen  Kruger mentioning to Grisha that if he learns to use this power  correctly he can save Mikasa, Armin and everyone else. All in all, just  this hope might be enough for him to push forward in a confused hell despite the fact he has only partial information and that he might very well mess up in the process.
In short, the panel of Kruger mentioning Armin and Mikasa is clearly important and I think that that panel together with the one of Mikasa in chapter one have still to be explained and will be in the future. What is more, I think they are connected to the Attack Titan piower somehow.
When it comes to Kruger’s words it is possible that, as I say above, Eren is also animated by them in doing what he is doing. As a matter of fact being told by my future self that doing something will save the lives of people I love might be a reason good enough to do whatever I am told. I also think we might see Eren sending himself this message in future chapters.
In conclusion, both theories 1 and 2 are still possible. They have both positive and negative aspects to them.
For example, having theory 1 be true would make difficult to understand why Eren could not simply tell the others about it. Why did he have to risk the destruction of the world hoping that a bunch of people who could have died countless times would join together and stop him against all odds? This is something which seriously needs to be addressed not to make the whole situation ridiculous and it can be addressed either by adding plot-points which make Eren’s choices understandable or by clearly showing that Eren was wrong not to tell others.
At the same time, for theory 2 to be true there is the need to find a convincing reason why both Historia and Eren’s POV have been hidden from us up until now. If Eren wants to destroy the world and that is, why have we not been shown his pov and why is there still mystery about a meeting between him and Historia? Similarly, there is the fact that it makes no sense for Eren to have told Floche his plan and not people he truly cared about. As a matter of fact even if he wants to destroy the world, why should he want a group like the Jeagersists rule over Paradis considering they are a threath to people like Hange and Levi he cares about?
All in all, why is he pushing Armin and Mikasa and the others away? No matter what theory is true, it must address this point.
These are my two cents as per now.
Have a great day!

I'm the anon who asked you the two "simple" questions yesterday (thanks for the in-depth analysis btw). Bellamy is my fave too ... so I have another question for you: how did you feel about his participation to the massacre in season 3 ? Did you understand his reasoning ? For me, it was hard to watch S3A (when I do a rewatch, I'm always dreading it). I totally get why he did it and I never hated him for that (I'm very biased, I know) but his S3 arc broke my heart. What was your first reaction ?
I totally understood his actions and it always baffled me that everyone in fandom forgot that the grounders had been killing them since the show started. And the trikru army were THE EXACT PEOPLE WHO WERE HUNTING THEM.
Like they weren’t guilty of the crime he accused them of, he was wrong about that. But they were GUILTY people. They were not defenseless. They were fully armed WARRIORS who were on guard against Azgeda. They weren’t peaceful. They weren’t defenseless. They weren’t actually even sleeping. They used strategy to kill the watch first, then the archers. Then they overpowered them with 10 men and their guns. 10 to 300. Not innocent. Not defenseless. And an actual, real threat to their lives, because history had shown that the grounders, that the coalition, that the commander, would go back on her agreement and KILL them just because she’d changed her mind.
When you can’t trust the person who promised to protect you, and they have PROVEN themselves to have no honor, and they are then parked outside of your civilian encampment with 300 armed warriors… that is a VERY precarious position. I understand the motivation to get rid of the army, even if I also know that Pike and Bellamy were not aware of the politics behind Azgeda’s attack, and did not separate Grounders into Azgeda and NOT Azgeda. I mean. Azgeda WAS the coalition. It WAS the coalition that attacked them. They were not involved in the infighting or the attempted coup and could not know that. All they knew was that Grounders were set up to be able to kill them if they wanted to. And they always wanted to sooner or later.
They then went onto the battlefield and killed the wounded… which I think might be a war crime. But Bellamy tried to stop that. He knew it had gone too far.
This is the STORY being told. Within the narrative, I understand Bellamy’s choices. I think they were WRONG, but I don’t think they were bad or evil. Just like I think Clarke’s choice to leave Bellamy to die in season 5 was WRONG but not bad or evil. For where the characters WERE, their choices were logical and even moral…. but they did not have a good perspective on the whole situation and so made wrong choices. Wrong does not mean Evil. Not in this case, because of WHY they made those choices.
BUT.
I also understand that season 3A was about Bellamy dealing with his trauma, with his pain, that was only retriggered with the explosion of Mountweather. Just like 3A was about Clarke dealing with his trauma while facing the person who caused it and coming to grips with her own darkness. Right? So Pike and Lxa represented the dark side of Bellamy and Clarke. They were what Clarke and Bellamy could have become, without the mitigating influence of each other. Clarke and Bellamy aren’t partners because they’re romantic. They’re partners because they make each other BETTER. Right? So.
Season 3a is part of Bellamy’s (and Clarke’s) personal character development in their hero’s journeys. I’d like to talk just about Bellamy’s, since that’s your question, but it’s paralleled almost exactly with Clarke’s in Polis.
Bellamy wanted to relinquish being a leader. First he followed Kane, then he followed Pike. Pike allowed him to be angry without being at fault. Because he was following. And Pike used his trauma to get him on his side, because Pike knew he was key. Just like Bellamy, he reads people. Polis was a battle for Bellamy’s soul, with Pike and Kane fighting for his heart, his mind. Pike went too far, and by the time Bellamy realized how far he’d gone, Kane did not forgive him, Lincoln was dead, and another death sentence was placed upon their heads.
In Polis, Bellamy went from being a follower to being a leader. He had to stop allowing other people to make the decisions, and make them himself. And just so we understand, Kane wasn’t making great decisions, either. His plan to kneel to Lxa made them weak and vulnerable and at the mercy of the grounders, who were strangling them. Clarke and Bellamy are better together, but they had to each figure out who they were, and they had to step up and take back their power from their respective leaders in order to make sure that their people were safe, and weren’t doing the wrong thing. Hmm. Clarke was needed to save their lives, and Bellamy was trying to save their souls, to keep them from being monsters.
If you’ll notice, that’s why in season 4, he stopped sacrificing people just because they weren’t HIS people. That was why he decided to do the morally right thing. that was why he stopped Riley from killing the Azgeda.
HE HAD TO LEARN TO DO THE RIGHT THING. He had to. If he hadn’t learned that lesson, he would not have been able to stop it from happening again in season 5. He would not have been able to stop CLARKE from letting it happen, because by season 5, she’d been ground down to just survival and didn’t believe in doing the right thing anymore. She didn’t believe in good guys.
BUT BELLAMY DID.
And ONLY because he made the conscious choice to BE the good guy, because he could not live with what he did in season 3.
So I know it’s dark. I know he was not heroic. I know he gave his power to Pike and let him massacre people. I know he was weak. But he could not become TRULY strong, until he faced his weakness.
And if you’ll notice, one of his flaws is that he IS a follower. He’ll easily back down for someone with more experience or more confidence or even a better plan. Clarke is one of those people he’ll back down for. But we all know that Clarke is not always right. And frankly, she needs someone strong enough to be able to stand up to her when she wants to, say, put the flame in someone’s head without consent, or… steal the bunker and leave hundreds to die.
Bellamy became that person. The person, who not only could lead on his own, but also knew the difference between wrong and right and had the strength to face everyone else down to make sure it got done.
He could not have become that person without season 3A. Not in this world, anyway, where people are actually responsible for their actions and there are no inherently good people. This was how he gained his goodness. By facing his darkness and saying “No.”
