There was a Paddy's Pub in the background of a shot in Silent Hill....... what if I went terminally insane and created what the Gang's Silent Hill would be?
T'Lyn wants to learn how to fight from Mariner. Her experience since transferring to Starfleet has been much more physical than her time with the Vulcan fleet, and it is only logical that she increase her chances of survival with martial education.
Mariner wants to learn the Vulcan nerve pinch. Because of course she does.
I imagine some fun stuff can come from this from both angles.
(If anyone wanted to write this, I'd love to read it. Not sure if I would write it myself)
((my frequently-used tags know what I want to tag my posts with now. I'm so predictable lately))
Okay but see a part of me does want to put the Davidsons into Walkernatural just so we can have a scene where Cordell’s trying to save them from a ghost and there’s no salt and this is purely because I think this is funny:
Cordell: “You don’t have salt? Why??? What do you put on your food??? I mean I knew you were insane but really? You don’t have salt? What in the- I was willing to overlook you trying to put me on death row when I was twelve but really? No salt? What kind of house doesn’t have salt???? Low sodium freaks....”
I've had this little idea in my head for a while now, so I decided to sit down and plot it out.
Disclaimer: This isn't meant to be some sort of One-Worksheet-Fits-All situation. This is meant to be a visual representation of some type of story planning you could be doing in order to develop a plot!
Lay down groundwork! (Backstory integral to the beginning of your story.) Build hinges. (Events that hinge on other events and fall down like dominoes) Suspend structures. (Withhold just enough information to make the reader curious, and keep them guessing.)
And hey, is this helps... maybe sit down and write a story! :)
I have begun to converge and diverge iteratively this last week in the te kitenga phase. I'm cementing a vision based on all the research and self-reflection tohu I have noticed so far on my journey. This started with informed ideation based on my HMW: Engage employees in active allyship of gender minorities through process-motivated design activities. I wanted to work with the three pillars of process-motivated design: connection, agency and widening perspectives. As you can see below, this manifested in activities and objects which could support these pillars.
In my research for a mood board*, I searched terms such as "queer crafting", "trans crafts", "creative workshops", and "non-binary design" to elicit some visual inspiration for my project. Although intending to undertake visual research, my surfing took me down unexpected paths by following the nodes I encountered. (Blomfield, 2022). The result was a parallel gathering of written and visual tohu that further crystallised my vision. One quote that I found supporting my motivated approach was:
"A big part of the Norfolk Trans Joy Community Quilt wasn’t just the end product, but establishing safe spaces for transgender, gender non-conforming, and allies to be in one space and celebrate, process, and learn in a non-judgemental group.” (Baker, 2023)
This led me to explore deeper the Norfolk Trans Joy Community Quilt case study (images below) within Baker's essay How Trans Fiber Artists Are Using Quilts To Tell Their Stories. In conjunction with using quilting as a medium for expression and connection, the process was also communicated in a zine publication, an idea that had already appeared in my ideation.
I synthesised all these nodes, tohu and nascent visions into a journey map of sorts as I find visual mapping to be the easiest way to explore my thoughts. Once I have put pen to paper, I'm able to better describe my idea to others and find the weak points that need developing.
I laid out the vision and the system/ service elements that would go into delivering the vision to workplaces.
The precedent research, has been possibly the most helpful part of my process in terms of moving closer to a prototype-able idea and not just disparate thoughts and immaterial concepts. My choice to go forward with a craft-based approach is pretty similar to my local making execution of 'process-motivated design' so it might be limiting in the sense its in an area i'm already comfortable with. On the flip-side there is a strength in iterating an already established idea and aligning with my personal interest in craft will help me stay motivated (hopefully).

Au where maye is a famous poet and Ophelia is an English rock star and they're both big fans of each others work
they've been on interviews (in their countries) like "hahaha yeah I'd love to meet them and tell them I love their work so much"
then they both get invited to a talk show and they're each others' surprise guest and they're like so excited and it's fun to be on a talk show with each other
and lowkey they're flirting the whole time bc the host asks them a question abt what they like abt the other and they go "Well [30 years of praise into 3 sentences]" and they make jokes with each other you'd think they'd been friends for years
and then they start hanging out and wow now they r dating we just won folks
More under cut bc my brain is MELTED
Ofc Dae’vonne would be Maye's translator
And Ophelia would just be lead singer of this band with Peter, Winston, and like, idk, someone else
And Mayes really famous for the works she posts on social media but she's KNOWN for her poetry books and like whatever authors do to get famous, like maybe she's written a novel or two about whatever (probably gay pirate shit)
And Ophelia loves Maye’s poems and even literally references or tries to reference them in her music or at least some of the themes bc hey inspo
And maye LOVES Ophelia’s music, literally so much and listens to it religiously and even admitted to having a crush on her at one point when they were both first starting out
Bc Ophelia is goth in every universe, but she was dark/punk first in this universe and Maye at the time of their like... beginning was like "She looks absolutely deranged I'm obsessed"
And obviously Maye is from France so like, lil French high-school maye crushing on college freshman underground lead singer from band Blood of Orthus
And then growing up and going "well the music still fucks but I'm not... silly in love with the lead singer anymore COUGH"
And Ophelia was straight up looking like this almost
[Nabbed from pinterest]
But then she dyes her hair white like right as she graduated and by that point she and her band have made a name for themselves and they go on tours and to festivals and all types of band shit
And maye is like, sipping coffee reading books in her cozy lil home listening to Blood of Orthus as she's outlining and brainstorming for her next to be released short story or sumn
I'm tinking maybe the talk show was just,, them meeting formally. Like, they've shared comments online and stuff but they've never actually had a conversation or met or anything
And then after the talk show they're immediately like "I need to know more about you"
And this is where Maye finds out that Ophelia is SUCH a bleeding heart and adores literature and lives in a big ass Gothic mansion and was rich before the band
And that the punk phase was just Ophelia venting about her parents through music and she grew out of it for the most part and got a little classier but she still writes and performs like she did years ago
