Hey, life sim game developers.
There is no reason not to let me save my game whenever I want. I don't want the game to only save when I go to bed. That is an outdated method. Maybe I don't feel like playing the entire day, or maybe I have a REAL LIFE that gets in the way in the middle of a game and I don't want to have my gameplay lost to the void. Get with the times and respect MY fucking time already. Should have left this mechanic behind with the first Harvest Moon, and I curse every modern game that bears this ill legacy. That includes you, Stardew Valley. YOU could have stopped this! You chose violence!
Seriously, though, I don't understand why developers don't make the obvious choice to fix this. It's as annoying to me as roguelikes with NO save system mid-run. Guess what? Your game is not so damn important in my life that it will override everything else I have to do in a day. I guess you don't want me to play your game THAT badly, huh? Just let me save the damn game between floors or whatever! JEEZ!
Apparently, I had feelings that needed to get out of me.

Learning the piano (on a keyboard) is progressing nicely. Starting to hurt the ol' wrists, though. I've gotten to the chords part of the lessons, and now I know three chords. It is a DEVIL of a time switching between them. Have to move the hand and everything. Just when I got used to having my hands at the same keys all the time!
I also started writing the lyrics of my first song. Well, not ever. I've done a parody song or two in my day. But first original song! I think. It may have some vocal rhythm in common with "I Own a Car" by NSP. We'll see if it stays that way.
Dang, this has been the most I've done creatively in a long time. Guess I needed this.

Disappointing to hear about Lower Decks ending, but I guess I should be happy that we're getting one more season.

I do not know why I am DOOMED to not receive this damn keyboard. UPS driver supposedly tried to deliver it about fifteen minutes ago. Somehow, despite me being here all day RIGHT BY THE DOOR, I don't hear them? Or if they DID actually try to deliver it and knocked and all that, it was the ONE time I stepped away to make some food for myself?
Not having a car or a nearby music store kind of sucks.

Actually, I have to complain about one last thing: this music store website wasn't working right on Firefox, and it forced me to use EDGE. Said website is lucky I want the keyboard more than sweet vengeance.
Hey, did you know Amazon sucks? Of course you did! I wanted to share my own story of why, just to vent.
Since I started taking piano lessons on that app, I've become only more intent on learning. If this project of mine is going to succeed, I need all the music education I can get. And, well, the MIDI keyboard I have will be just fine for working on my computer with a DAW, I'm sure, but it's a bit small for playing live music. So, I decided to treat myself to as cheap a keyboard as I could get while still getting some semblance of quality. And it wasn't easy for me to pick, let me tell you. I stayed up for a few hours past my usual bedtime several nights ago trying to choose between two of them. But I finally did choose, and I placed the order with Amazon, which was to be delivered today.
Do you think I got a delivery today? DO you, dear reader?
Well, yes. Yes, I got a delivery. Why would you think I wasn't going to get a delivery? No problems at all...
SURPRISE TWIST! IT WAS THE WRONG ITEM!
They sent, not a keyboard, but a keyboard STAND.
What do you think is more insulting? Getting an item that is completely wrong, like a pair of socks when you ordered a lawnmower, or getting something that is at least tangentially related to the thing you ordered? I kind of think it's the latter. It's like saying, "Hey, you know what you could use this for? The thing you actually ordered! Sucks, doesn't it? SUFFER."
So now I have to actually leave my house to take this thing to a UPS store for a return (at least the return is free), and Amazon can't just replace it. But guess what, Amazon? You lost your shot! I am taking my business to a local music place.
Okay, I'm actually ordering it from a website for delivery, and it's a chain, but MY POINT STANDS!
I feel better now. I'm going to write a song about how Amazon can suck my ass.

Enjoying my day off. I plan to spend it in musical study. I've been learning piano with an app that came with my keyboard purchase, so I will do a few more lessons there. I'm also going to watch some tutorial videos on some of the music software I'm using (Synthesizer V and a new one I bought called 1BITDRAGON). Also some tutorials and tips on songwriting in general.
This is truly the grandest project I've embarked upon. It requires so much learning in a field I've barely engaged with in the past. And yet, at least at this moment, it feels right, and it feels like I can do it. I just need to remind myself to be patient and accept it's going to take time.

at some point you have to realize that you actually have to read to understand the nuance of anything. we as a society are obsessed with summarization, likely as a result of the speed demanded by capital. from headlines to social media (twitter being especially egregious with the character limit), people take in fragments of knowledge and run with them, twisting their meaning into a kaleidoscope that dilutes the message into nothing. yes, brevity is good, but sometimes the message, even when communicated with utmost brevity, requires a 300 page book. sorry.

I found a fun new way to brainstorm characters.
Why stick with just one when you can do TWO OR MORE at the same time?
It’s actually much more interesting for me. I can work out who the characters are by imagining relationships and typical interactions between them. It’s how I’m creating two bard personas that I plan to use for my music.
Now that I think about it, it’s not the first time I’ve done this. I used to make multiple characters for forum roleplaying way back in the day.

My keyboard is coming in two more days. Excited. I hope this is the instrument for me, at last. It comes with six free weeks of some learning app, so that's cool. Good head start on my education, and now I don't have to search YouTube for lessons.
I think I'm most excited to teach myself how to use vsynths. I'm not a singer, myself, but I'd like to write songs and have them sung by someone. Imaginary people are fine.
I just had an idea: vsynth a cappella. Who needs instruments at all?

Cripes, it is physically impossible for me to interrupt people. Well, mostly. Depends on how comfortable I am with someone.
you've been told all your childhood that it's rude to interrupt. and now you have grown up and speak only when there is a pause in the conversation. but suddenly you understand that neurotypicals are all interrupting each other and this is quite normal. but you are already used to not interrupting and waiting for a pause in the conversation and do not understand how to normally maintain a conversation in order to talk, but at the same time not to seem rude

Here’s the weird thing in my head right now.
I already mentioned I bought a cheap MIDI keyboard here, right? Decided to learn how to play. I keep wanting to learn how to play instruments, and I’ve tried a few different ones over the years. I think the keyboard might be the final answer.
Anyway, I had the idea to write actual songs, which I’ve never done before. What kind of songs? Bardic songs. I am deadass planning to invent a bard OC and write songs for them, which I will figure out how to play on my keyboard. And since I also want to learn how to do vsynth, these songs will ACTUALLY be sung, just not with my own voice.
So to recap: I plan to learn how to write songs and music, how to play the keyboard, AND how to actually make the music and the vsynth vocals with software. Sounds like a lot. Who knows if I will actually stick with the entire plan? I’d like to. We’ll see how successful I am. Cool thing about DAWs is that I can basically play any instrument I want with the right plugins. What instrument should my bard use? A lute? Guitar? Fiddle? Who knows?
And here’s a bonus weird idea for a creative project: doing video transcripts for a fictional Let’s Play channel. So, I want to invent a YouTuber playing games that don’t actually exist.
Apparently, I can’t just be creative in a normal way anymore.
