How many people are actually quirkless in My Hero Academia?

We know that roughly 80% of the population had quirks, as stated by All Might in one of the episodes. Leaving 20% of the population without them. Now, 20% might not seem like a lot of people until you put the numbers in your calculator and see just how big the number actually is.

Going off the current population number of 8 billion, 80% of that number would be 6,400,000,000 (six billion four hundred million). Six hundred billion, four hundred MILLION people with super human abilities spread out between 7 different continents!

That's roughly 914,285,714.28571(nine hundred fourteen million two hundred eighty-five thousand seven hundred fourteen point twenty-eight thousand five hundred seventy-one hundred-thousandths) people in each continent with a quirk!!

Leaving, 1,600,000,000 (one billion six hundred million) people without quirks! If spread out evenly between continents, that would leave roughly 228,571,428.57143 (two hundred twenty-eight million five hundred seventy-one thousand four hundred twenty-eight point fifty-seven-thousand one hundred forty-three hundred-thousandths) people in each continent!

Divided up by 195 countries, that's 8,205,128.2051282 (eight million two hundred five thousand one hundred twenty-eight point two million fifty-one thousand two hundred eighty-two ten-millionths) quirkless people in each country, if divided up evenly.

Given the current population of Japan being 123,207,079 (one hundred twenty-three million two hundred seven thousand seventy-nine), the number of quirkless people living in Japan should be a fairly good amount.

Of course, sense Mha takes place in an alternate universe, and in the future, the population is probably a lot bigger, meaning there would be an even bigger number of both people with quirks and people without them.

So basically, what I'm trying to say is, with such a large number of people being quirkless in the world, why do so many people hold disdain towards them?

The wonderful @aatticsaltt contacted me and helped me work out a new listing for mini-comics! Sort of a first for me. Working on this was wild, but rewarding! Figuring out the setting, background-character designs, and smaller details was a super fun learning experience.

This is a comic based on the first chapter of this support!deku fic, which I highly recommend you read if you want a good slow-burn! The first chapter is possibly my favorite, starting the story off with great imagery and consistently good characterization. There are a lot of feel-good and funny moments throughout the fic, as well as some absolutely gut wrenching scenes (and many more of both to come). Please check it out!

And just as a side note about Salt: I’m so grateful to have been given the opportunity to work with her and have her as a friend. It’s been an incredible pleasure.

Man, this line from All Might's flashback really boosts my respect for him. But also makes me pity him just a bit. Respect because what he said was true; pity because after all he's worked for it still is.

"In this world, criminals get rewarded for their actions."

"And a victim's sorrow grows into a blind rage. It's a spiral of everlasting tragedies."

He saw all this junk back when he started and wanted to fix it. And you know, I genuinely think he did the best he possibly could have on his chosen path as the greatest hero & symbol of peace. But he was never able to actually change the status quo he couldn't take, just put a cover over it so people weren't afraid. And by the end he even became a part of it as it's defender. Heck, if he did end up filling in any cracks in the old pre-All Might society, he inadvertently replaced them with new ones made by encouraging everyone rely on & blindly trust heroes.

The general public was certainly happier and more at ease with him around as a symbol, beating down dangerous villains, but everything else he despised still happened right under his nose. And if I may be brutally honest, I think it was because just being a pro hero fighting villains was never going to be enough. Most of the tragedies we've seen in this series didn't originate from a villain after all. They originated with some abuse, prejudice, systemic corruption, or some type of issue or bad person the heroes don't touch. And maybe that's because the heroes are so good at preventing tragedies caused by villains, & good for them if so; I still think the next generation should get a better plan because it looks like things wound up right back where they started anyway.

Anyway; the League/PLF should take "I can't take it anymore. In this world, criminals get rewarded for their actions. And a victim's sorrow grows into a blind rage. It's a spiral of everlasting tragedies." to use as their slogan. I know it's a bit wordy but I think Tomura could make it work.

the mischaracterization of Monoma and Bakugo's relationship on tiktok is literally THE WORST.

"Monoma never hated Bakugo!!" he ABSOLUTELY did.

the entire reason why Monoma thought 1-A sucked in the beginning was because Bakugo is an ass.

He was pissed off when Bakugo actually WORKED WITH HIS TEAM because he's known him as some prick who doesn't know how to cooperate up until that point.

He was shocked an upset by Bakugo's "death" because he has seen him and class 1-A as this unstoppable force ever since he met them. seeing someone you thought was unkillable BE KILLED is a shock.

sure, he shits on 1-A but it's VERY OVIOUS he doesn't actually believe 1-A is less then him. he holds them on a very high pedestal and he's watching it crumble before his very own eyes. and it's obvious that he doesn't like seeing stuff that forcefully changes his views from the joint training battles.

even though Bakugo's personality is flaming garbage Monoma still KNEW him. not only that but he had to watch him get mauled and he physically couldn't look away. that's horrifying.

and even if I'm completely wrong and Horikoshi decides to suddenly make Monoma respect Bakugo JUST BECAUSE he died for five minutes would be a horrible choice for Monoma's character. everyone who didn't like Bakugo at first always ends up respecting him for some stupid reason, and that's not how the real world works. there NEEDS to be someone that balances that out, and that someone IS MONOMA. his background and previous interactions with Bakugo make him the perfect guy to hate his guts.

this arc for Monoma, in my opinion, should be the arc that lets him finally win SOMETHING. that lets him shine. because all throughout this entire story we have seen Monoma fail over and over again. what this arc shouldn't be is Monoma suddenly gaining some sort of "newfound respect" for the guy he's hated the entire story.

like i don’t think y’all even need to hear me out on that one. he’s one of those guys who uses his board as a primary means of transportation across the college campus just like he used to in high school. he still goes to skate parks in his free time, and he’s the first person to introduce himself to someone new. everyone knows and loves him.
