Week 09.19.22
Monday: Great day I went to senior seminar, it is a graduate preparation class. We have to create presentations on the readings and critique one another. The Professor has not been happy with our performance so far. 😂
Tuesday: The morning started out productive. I finished my notes on Plato’s Gorgias. The rest of the day I was a potato 🥔
Wednesday: I I finished the next chapter of my reading for Senior seminar. Then clocked in for my 6 hour shift.
Thursday: Anxiety won. I was a potato 🥔
Friday: I went to work. I was too tired to study.
This week all in all was ok. I didn’t get as much done as I wanted. The possibility that is perfectionism talking is high. But a work in progress is a process.I learned how to make the Caramel Frappuccino at home. I have solved one problem to create another. I love it here.
New favorites 🤩

🔔 NOTICE 🔔
THIS BLOG IS A SAFE SPACE FOR ALL QUEER/BIPOC (black + indigenous + people of color) TO INDULGE IN THEIR CHOSEN AESTHETICS AND INTERESTS WITHOUT FEELING ALIENATED FROM HOW WHITE AND EXCLUSIVE CERTAIN COMMUNITIES CAN GET!
Tumblr media
i love dark academia, cottagecore, etc., but imma say this now. do NOT come to my blog expecting an overflow of content related to dead poets society, or any other staple white dark academia movie (especially because that movie LITERALLY has a scene where a character mocks indigenous people…but y’all still idolize that movie about cis white men anyway???). The fact that y’all even let that scene slide alone proves that dark academia is NOT always a safe space for non-white individuals. So with that said…
EXPECT TO SEE BIPOC REPRESENTATION HERE
EXPECT TO SEE QUEER REPRESENTATION HERE
EXPECT TO SEE FEMME REPRESENTATION HERE
Do NOT expect to see:
any glorification of parts of the aesthetic with roots in racism, oppression and discrimination (i.e. the obsession over white/pale skin, ivy league worship, idolization of the 1%, putting cis white academics on a pedastal, etc.)
I want all bipoc academics to know that you’re safe here on this blog, and that there are other spaces and blogs on tumblr where you are safe too, if you look in the right places 🫶🏾

I was tagged by the lovely @bastard-academia to answer some questions with songs titles from a single artist. Consider this doubling as a music rec post bc I love The Oh Hellos with every grubby fiber of my being.
Artist: The Oh Hellos
Gender: Dry Branches
How are you feeling?: Danse Macabre
If you could go anywhere, where would you go?: Valley- Reprise
Your best friends?: A Convocation of Fauns (A Faunvocation, If You Will)
If your life was a TV show: The Truth Is a Cave
tag: @power-of-wilh @desi-dark-academia @blackacademia @we-kant-even @cryptozoologygirls @thespianaf @dumbassacademia @travelling-etymologies @chaos-academia @raspberry-cham-pain

thanks @desi-dark-academia for tagging me in this cool survey!
last song: A Burning Hill by Mitski. i’m writing a fic loosely inspired by the song so it’s been in heavy rotation. it’s also just a brilliant piece of music that speaks deeply to a lot of personal experiences.
last movie: i— i have no idea?? i’m not really a movie or television person, so i can’t remember the last movie i watched. it was either 1917 or Moana. both are incredible movies and i will throw hands for both of them.
currently reading: Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. however, i’ve also been reading lots of fanfiction to cope with accidentally watching two videos of Black people suffering at the hands of police. that shit is traumatizing and i unironically cannot speak on them because i shut down and have flashbacks to the video. we love spicy déjà vu.
(but seriously!! put the trigger warning BEFORE the video!! stumbling into videos like that is horrifying and violent towards Black people. just stop. we know our lives mean nothing in America; that every aspect of our society sees our bodies as disposable and our personhoods as meaningless. that’s what we’re trying to change.)
i tag @romanticlikekeats @amurder-ofcrows @abernvthy @darkacademiacottage @thewinedark @academia-darling @academiabutmakeitdiverse @sib-studies and @blackacademia

The Afro-Caribbean Mentorship Program (ACMP) is an initiative dedicated to supporting the success of Afro-Caribbean Black (ACB) and other racialized undergraduate and graduate students at Carleton University. We recognize that the experiences of ACB students and other racialized minority students are unique due to the potential micro-aggressions that they may encounter throughout their academic and professional experiences. Advocating for an inclusive campus is ACMP’s mission while supporting the success of racialized students. #eachoneteachone #blackacademia (at Carleton University (Official)) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bq0xZXLl9rd/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1jj49ti0c7qgw
