Diet culture might use that common saying to make you believe now is the best time to change your lifestyle.
It’ll make you believe that the answer to “new year, new you” is some diet.
But what’s wrong with the current you, anyway?
Before you jump on to the latest fad diet, take some time to sit with the question of why you want to go on a diet in the first place. Is it because you want to change something about you? Are the voices your own or that of diet culture?
Growth is beautiful, but don’t force yourself to change something about yourself just because society (and diet culture) tells you to.
I have been binge free for 22 days now. I can’t remember the last time I didn’t binge in 22 days. I am so proud of myself. Today was difficult. I think I was tired, which can trigger my binges. I ate some ice cream on purpose, just to not feel restricted. Afterwards I also ate some oreos and there I felt my control slip away. It wasn’t a lot of oreos, maybe 5 that were left in the packaging? However, after that I definitely wanted to binge.
I was able to chill tho. I realized it wouldn’t make me feel better. I didn’t beat myself up for eating sugar again. I also took care of the thing I was procrastinating (probably also a trigger) and then accepted that I am tired and need to rest. And that it’s okay to rest.
3 months in #edrecovery treatment! Yesterday was my last day in program. I am not the same person I was when I went in there. It’s been 2.5+ years I’ve been in #edrecovery . It took me over a year from originally being referred to to #edtreatment to finally initially call to set up treatment. Having an #eatingdisorter is life consuming. Very much physically and mentally. I didn’t know what being #metabolicallystable felt like till working the program. I don’t have the same image of myself anymore. #recoveryispossible !!! It very very much so is! ❤️ These are letters I was given by other clients and staff on my completion day. I read them before typing this blog. I don’t usually get emotionally moved that easy, or I didn’t in the past. I felt the energy in all the words written to me. I am so thankful for the support I’ve had through my #recoveryjourney ! Even ate my worse moments and breakdowns, my heart wasn’t abandoned or let down. My spouse, one of my biggest supports, has grown with me through my own recovery. I’m grateful for all the people who have loved me and held my hand through these last few months. ❤️ #edrecoverywarrior #edawareness #edrecoveryquotes #eatingdisorderhope #eatingdisorderawareness #atypicalanorexianervosa #atypicalanorexiarecovery #atypicalanorexiaawareness #bingeeatingrecovery #disorderedeating #mentalhealthawareness #nonviolentcommunication #bestself #foodishappiness #recoverywin #eatingdisordersupport (at Willow Glen, San Jose, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ch_cPYJOHeO/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
today I ate pretty badly. just to be honest with myself I'm listing it out: big bowl of kraft macaroni for breakfast, 15 Pringle chips in the car, lunch out with my dad lasagna piece with strawberry cobbler, three cups of coffee with lots of cream and sugar, and for dinner two potatoes with butter, cream cheese, and mozzarella cheese mashed.
reflecting I would never give this food to someone I was trying to help lose weight. kraft Mac and cheese was too much and in general a poor choice for breakfast, I should have never have bought Pringles and it's bad that I ate them while driving without thinking about it. choices for lunch reflected low vegetable choice, desert was okay I only at 1/3 and didn't overeat it. dinner was a symptom of what was in the house.
behavior moving forward: find a breakfast and stick to it, don't buy junk food, don't eat in the car, when eating out choose the vegetable option, have healthy quick dinner food in the house, cream only in coffee.
Emotional eating can be a tough habit to break, but with a little mindfulness and a few superfoods, you can start to nourish your body and heal your relationship with food. Say goodbye to the junk and hello to foods that make you feel good, like leafy greens, berries, and healthy fats. You've got this! 🌿🍓💪
lol I literally just logged my total for the day so far then checked the time! 😂 but this is breakfast plus snack which was tuna and a super small amount of light mayo.
. . #clanek #zdravestravovani #bed #bingeeatingrecovery #zdravyzivotnistyl #jidlo #eatingdisordercommunity #ed #edrecovery #healthiswealth #selfhelp #zachvatoviteprejidani #tip #tipyatriky #bio #linkinbio #article #healthyfood #foodstagram #healthyliving #healthyeating #heal #stress #stresseating #junkfood #journaling #community #stop #info #healyourself (v místě Prague, Czech Republic) https://www.instagram.com/p/ChkmdPRtWJ6/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

plan for avoiding binge: feeling negative feelings and putting effort into getting ready for my new job. Cleaning my space and cataloging my feelings and thoughts.
