7 Reasons I Wear The Same Thing Every Day
When I first decided to become minimalist, I can remember looking in my closet and seeing 100, maybe 120 different articles of clothing.
I cut my wardrobe in half to 60 items. But then I discovered Project 333 started by Courtney Carver. After trying it, I cut my closet in half again.
Nowadays, I own about 33 to 35 articles of clothing. Somewhere during that process, I started wearing basically the same thing every day: a V-neck t-shirt, pants, and black shoes.
I have come to love wearing the same thing each day. And I’m not alone. A lot of people are doing the same thing.
Here are some of the reasons why I wear the same thing every day:
1. Fewer decisions. This is by far the most popular reason why people decide to adopt a streamlined capsule wardrobe.
Decision fatigue refers to the deteriorating quality of decisions made by an individual after a long session of decision making. Wearing the same outfit each day removes picking out clothes as a decision to be made.
The truth of the matter is, you have more important decisions to make than what you’re going to wear each morning.
2. Less time and energy wasted. When you wear the same thing every day, you save time deciding what you’re going to wear each morning. And you save significant energy over the course of the week.
Just think about how much time goes into maintaining, and organizing, and taking care of your clothes. Laundry, for example. When you decide to wear the same thing every day, all of that becomes easier. You save time in the morning and energy over the course of a week.
3. Less stress. As a result of fewer decisions and more time, wearing the same thing means you have less stress in the morning.
It also means you experience less stress over the course of the day. I don’t ever have to think about, “Oh man, am I wearing the right thing today? I wish I would’ve worn x instead.” I wear the same thing, and it works perfect for almost every occasion. I love it. You will too.
4. Save money. The average American family spends $2000 a year on clothing—despite already having closets full of clothes.
For some reason, we just keep buying more and more and more. A lot of this expense is wasted on clothes that are never worn—trial and error fashion that ends up wasting time, energy, and money.
5. Feeling put together. Every moment of every day my clothes fit, match, and just so happen to be my favorites. All day long, I feel like I’m wearing something I enjoy and look good wearing.
6. Less waste. The average American throws away 70 pounds of clothing every year. Deciding to wear the same thing is good for the planet, it’s good for you, and it’s good for everyone else as well.
7. An iconic look. Wearing the same thing every day is the quickest way to become famous. You become known for your particular style, you look put together, you look classy, you look comfortable, and you look confident. Because you’re not constantly chasing the newest fashions, you’ll communicate confidence in who you are and how you look.
I love wearing the same thing every day. You will too.
If you’re looking for help to get started on this in your own life, let me suggest: The Minimalist Wardrobe: A Practical Guide to Owning Fewer Clothes.

Contrary to popular opinion, quitting is for winners. Knowing when to quit, change direction, leave a toxic situation, demand more from life, give up on something that wasn't working and move on, is a very important skill that people who win at life all seem to have.

MAKING YOUR PHONE TO BE INTENTIONAL
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
MAKE A VISION BOARD WALLPAPER. Create one that aligns with your goals and dream self, so that every time you pick your phone up, you’re reminded of your goals and future vision. Also, great for manifesting!
KNOW YOUR APP’S PURPOSE. For me, tumblr is a way I share advice and learn, YouTube I also learn from others, pinterest I get inspired, netflix is a way for me to unwind etc. If for any app, you cannot name a proper purpose/intent to use it daily or to help with your goals, delete it.
DECIDE WHICH TYPES OF APPS YOU WANT. If you have a new phone, or you want to completely reset your phone, write or type, the apps, that you want and those you don’t.
E.g I want to learn a language, practice mindfulness on the go, get some mental gratification that isn’t addicting, organise my life better and have a way to track my progress. I don’t want apps that support doom-scrolling, make me compare myself and are addictive.
BE MINDFUL OF WHAT YOU SIGN UP TO. Newsletters, social media, subscribing to YouTubers and so on, just think about your goals and vision and if they align with them, every time you think about signing up/subscribing.
HAVE NO PHONE TIME/ZONES. For me, my phone is not allowed to be used in bed. If I must use my phone, I have to get out of bed first. My phone is also not allowed during study time, so I put it in a separate room which makes it inconvenient.
REGULARLY DO A DIGITAL DECLUTTER. Delete any old contacts that you don’t talk to, unsubscribe from newsletters and YouTube channels, organise your socials etc. Removes space and helps us to see our phones with more clarity.
SET PURPOSEFUL WIDGETS. These can be anything, motivational quotes, your daily to-do list, reminders of your habits and so on. However, make sure you’re looking at them and they're not just taking up space.

new year's planning...also oops cuz i just realized i made a typo (no way would i survive a one-month long course in organic chem...thank god they don't exist 😅)
honestly so not ready to go back to school, i just wanna finish all the programming courses i started and read all the journal articles i want to (they're a large contributor to the many browser tabs i have open 😭). it's not because i don't like what i'll be learning about - the journal articles i'm reading are on life sciences topics after all. i dread the rigidity and unforgivingness of the semester and lonely feelings that come with it. i feel so much more free and like i have a choice in how i spend my days when i'm not in school.
study stats (50/10): 🍅🍅🍅🍅(? i stopped counting after 3h)
meditate ✅
physio ✅
finish reading metabolomics article ✅
start reading proteomics article ✅
learn Perl ✅
learn R ✅
exercise ✅

hey sorry to be invasive but now you’ve got me curious what your minimalist indie game idea was
(context:
Tumblr media
The idea is, a Tumblr (Twitter?) Simulator consisting almost entirely of making shitposts in order to maximize your reputation with all of them - and if you say the littlest thing that one of them may not like, it'll get worse
And that's it. Making a post all about garlic bread to appeal to the aces was a good move, but your reputation with both the lesbians and the communists is tanking. You might want to make a post about gay commie sex, but be careful with your exact wording - your anarchist clout can't take another hit

My entire (simple) wardrobe
Other than my shoes and one of my backpacks, this is literally all the clothes I own and I absolutely love it.
Hard to believe that I used to own 2 full dressers and closets full of clothes and shoes. Not to mention all the other boxes of clothes that would be tucked away in storage and whatnot.
Now, I feel so much less stressed about what I'm going to wear. No longer need to lay out clothes the night before hand cause I mean...it's all just RIGHT THERE.
Everything I need, and nothing I don't 🖤✨️

decided to add some color asides from blue to my bujo so that i (hopefully) don't feel so stressed when i look at it bc of these flower/leaves/vague heart things
learning:
finish mol bio from last week ✅
finish psyc from last week ✅
review for mol bio quiz ✅
quiz ✅
finish biochem section 5/5 ✅ (woohoo, done with carbohydrates and now onto lipids...)
review for mol bio midterm ✅ (i'm almost done reviewing the first week of material but since i basically only have 2 more days to review, i have to cram a LOT more in tmr - the goal is to have half or less of M2 left to review on wednesday... 🤞😣)
even tho i didn't get enough sleep, today was more productive than it would've been otherwise bc i left my phone in another room. this is a note to self to keep doing that. not the not sleeping thing but the phone thing.
self-care:
physio exercises ✅

aaand now all i wanna do is sleep and have this day be over already... also, it's 63 days until christmas! i can last 63 days! ...right?!? 😃🥺😬😮‍💨😤

What an awful curse to be a person who theoretically loves maximalism but hates seeing stuff that has been stored outside cupboards, hates dusting, is terrified of somehow decorating The Wrong Way and being laughed at, is extremely clumsy, and has no real motivation to purchase nicknacks
