i may seem to lean in more towards romanticism of zolu but imma be real here

theyre a whole secret third thing to me like— idk how to explain it it other than their love and bond transcends what romance and platonic. yes i will draw them smooching and have hearts flying all around them but it is not exactly romantic/platonic... (i mean honestly i dont mind how ppl interpret zolu whether its my art or in general)

bc i saw this one comic that just... perfectly described zolu and the strawhats to me? it was about law catching zolu and then discussing with the other strawhats about it and they explained that luffy does in fact love everyone equally and the same. for luffy, romantic nor platonic is Not a thing to him. (this is how i view luffy's aroaceness !! love isnt a category for him. love isnt something he could just pick and choose or whatever. love is just... loving someone. love is for the people very dear to him.) and in the comic, the strawhats say that zoro's the one and only guy who could keep up with luffy's energy and antics. so they dont mind the things they do together in privacy or in front of them. they know how much luffy loves them ALL EQUALLY and they all love him back

on topic of zolu and aroace... i've been around spaces and talked to a few zolu shippers (qpr shipping count) and noticed how many of us are at least on the aro/ace spectrum. there's just Something about zolu's special relationship that attracts us, and if you ship them and are aro/ace, im certain you'd agree. (even if you arent, we can mutually agree that they are a third thing, right?) like, theres something so... aroace about their relationship. they can be seen as romantic and they can be seen as platonic, but what can be absolutely certain is that their relationship is definitely queer. bc it's not something you can easily describe or that their relationship is The Norm. theyre insane for each other. luffy's the sun. zoro's the moon. luffy's a good. zoro's the king of hell. they complete each other. they absolutely need each other.

my memory is horrible and i cant say the words properly but basically: zolu's love and relationships transcends romance and platonically. yes you can see it as either, but as an aroace, i Feel it is way beyond that.

and again, will repeat it a million times over (mind you, it's not canon. it's a widely accepted HEADCANON. if you think luffy's sexuality is something else, thats cool): i believe that luffy's aroaceness is way beyond "not interested in attraction/xyz/whatever" like yeah, he doesn't think about it because it doesnt matter much to him. he doesnt apply whats romantic or platonic to HIS relationships. he can recognize romantic, sexual, platonic things. it's just not his thing to really think hard about (he doesnt think much in the first place (affectionage)) he feels love for the people he cares about and if they feel loved by him, however he approaches the love (and if they accept that kind of form) thats all that matters to him. he doesnt label/categorize love because it makes no sense to Him to prioritize someone over the other just bc he loves that someone a different way. he loves everyone equally and treats them as equals.

and when it comes to Any luffy ships, calling his significant other "partner" is what fits best. theyre not just best friends, theyre partners.

this is a mess of a rant but this is just how i feel abt zolu, luffy, his ship pairs, and his aroace hc :]

Something that bugs me is that autonomous health & medical experimentation is widely accepted and celebrated--only when it succeeds *and is accepted by the wider establishment (usually bc it makes money and doesnt drastically contradict establishment ethos and/or profit.) Laypeople who become experts out of desperation or love or passion or whatever reasons and have a celebrated breakthrough in medicine are lauded only once they transcend into honorary members of the Medical Professional Class. I've seen people freak out at the idea of bathtub insulin and go on to talk about how openinsulin is doing it the "right way" when like. Buddy? Hon? The thing you're scared of resulting in nebulously dangerous medicine is their goal, it just looks different when they say it because they know what they're talking about and they have a nice website. The trans women making huge strides in DIY HRT are carrying on the legacy of the women who INVENTED HRT, you're just terrified of them because the people of the past have either been erased by the licensed docs that stole their work uncredited for personal glory or, or those women have retroactively been lifted to Honorary Professional Status. You're applying the same transphobia and transmisogyny and classism to the people in front of you that their foremothers faced. We gotta shoot the medical licensing boards in our heads and focus on building working knowledge because the bum (affectionate) on ur Street corner can DEFINITELY know more than many doctors. Our culture recognizes this in all kinds of places, like the relatively widespread recognition that disabled people need to be experts in our own care because the docs sure as shit usually ain't, but then when it's all put together into a real, useful praxis it gets screamed down because of all of these oppression structures and brainworms and learned helplessness; not to mention all of yall that go around beefing theory about medication production with 0 even beginner-level knowledge of how these things work or what real risks are involved or what the mitigation strategies currently in place look like.

idk if you seen this but SMFD is going to be a single which is very interesting to me for a few reasons one being we are past the time to release singles to promote the album and it's also not due to popularity bc according to spotify the most listen to non-single is fake out. my best assumption as to why is to promote the upcoming tour

I have a few theories on why SMFDS tho bc it is an odd choice. don't get me wrong I love that song but it's a song you really appreciate having also listened to the rest of the album and it's very good in concert but imo you release a single so it can be played on the radio for whatever reason (as a album teaser, it got popular) which is why I think it's about promotion and not radio. SMFSD is like THE track in terms of representation for the album for a lot of reasons to me so it makes sense they'd use it to promote their tour to fans who likely have listened to the album. also I suspect we'll get a SMFSD music video which I'll be excited to see (I do hope it has a little story line like the other mvs from this era rather than just clips from tourdust but we'll see)

I am FASCINATED by SMFS as a single, not because I don't love the song (it's one of my favorites on the whole album, I adore it), not because I don't think it's a super-strong song (lyrically I think it's transcendent in how it nails a very true emotion and musically I think it's complex and smart), but because it doesn't really strike me as my idea of a radio song, as you say. So yeah, this feels like an emotional choice rather than a marketing-based one, which also feels right to them. Their contractual situation makes their record label pretty hands-off, I think, so they can kind of do what they want. And maybe the song being labeled one of the top ten songs of the year by Time, or whatever that was, made them think that it deserved more attention not just by fans.

I'm sure the music video will be intensely plotted and silly because I genuinely think that's how they like to make music videos and I would be surprised if it's just tour footage, but we'll see.

I have a theory about Fake Out. To me that song seems like such an obvious single and I've always been surprised it didn't get a big push last summer. But I think once the new We Didn't Start the Fire dropped and ended up performing so strongly for them (and over the entire summer building gradually), they didn't want to crowd it out and let it play out. But I think Fake Out is definitely a summer song. It's a roll the windows down song to me and always has been since the first time I heard. Whereas SMFS is a perfect winter song (I'm in a winter mood dreaming of spring...). I wonder if they'll try to ride the album out a little longer and push Fake Out this summer. I wouldn't be entirely surprised, because I think there are no real rules anymore over when you can push a single from an album.

one day late, bonus edition: 2022 recap + 2023 goals

listening: I made a playlist of hebrew/yiddish metal and prog so that's been a highlight recently, I really like orphaned land so far

edit: i also have free bird stuck in my head bc we did fake karaoke in my friend's basement on new years eve and my bf put it on and now It Will Not Leave

reading: nothing to be honest ... oops ...

watching: finished Bocchi the rock, extremely charming, sparked joy. I've been rewatching hbomberguy video essays because they are reliable and good to have on in the background

playing: a little more hadesgame, Thinking about disco elysium and w101 but I haven't actually done it

making: I did do some embroidery! unfortunately I was. Very optimistic about how much I would get done over break. I brought it home with me with the intention that I could mail it from here but I am going to definitely have to bring it back with me lol

BONUS: what delights have I experienced?

walking around: kinda minor still, mostly just walking the dog

fellowship: part of why I am Very tired is because I have completely filled my schedule with seeing friends :") so I have really had no time to myself at all which is kinda overwhelming. but it's been really good to see everybody! I just wish I had a little more time to fit everything in and not feel so crammed

deliciousness: did a christmas day brunch at ceruleanvulpine's, super delicious spread with eggs, french toast, bagels, sausage, little cookies...dinner at the bf's place after, lamb and kebab and pesto pasta and just kind of a fun mishmash of different style foods...indian food at a friend's place new years eve...and then new years day brunch yesterday with cold cuts and I made my favorite orzo salad. I made myself a BANGIN sandwich today with the leftovers it was great

general reflection

2022 was kind of a weird and bad year! I spent most of the first half of 2022 dealing with the fallout of Dead Parent Zone, got a bad enough grade in a class that for the first time ever I had to retake it, and grappling with being so far from home for school while also dealing with all that shit. then I took on way too many obligations for the fall semester and shot my mental health in the foot a bit as a result.

there were some good things too, though - I was nervous about how a long-distance relationship would go but it's honestly going so, so well and he's been a real source of joy for me this past year. I did pass my classes even though it was a struggle so I don't have to retake anything again, and I already planned to do less next semester. despite it all I did finish a little art, and I got back into life drawing, and had a lot of good moments with friends. in general I think graduate school has been a good choice for me so far, and as much as I bitch and moan about indiana it's like, Fine,

but actually the people are really good, I have a great support network, and ultimately I think it'll continue to be good. it's really made me appreciate the east coast LOL

2023

as ceruleanvulpine said in their resolutionpost, I wanna make more weird art! in general I want to create more and fill the enthrallment, amelioration, and transcendence delight categories more often. I want to finish this embroidery project (ideally soon), the knitted tank top I did that just needs the straps, scarf for my SO...I'd love to start writing again and play more horn but we'll see

I also wanna listen to more weird music, and invest in actually owning some files, especially for some of the lesser-known bands and through bandcamp and stuff

this past year I definitely fell back into some of my more unhealthy coping mechanisms just to deal with the day-to-day (specifically extreme dissociation), I really want to kind of dial those back again, focus more on existing in Reality and more in each moment, which hopefully will also help with some of the skin picking and other anxious habits that resurfaced. maybe more yoga, maybe re-establishing a meditation process, idk yet but I'll work towards it

I would love to think more about my fashion and how I present myself too, and work on making and tailoring more of my clothing in general

I've been pretty good about being active so I'd like to keep that up, I still can't do a pull-up but maybe this is the year! (lol) I should also start doing some minor exercises for my shitty arthritis toes to keep those okay

a lot of last year was kind of a wash regarding research so I'm really looking forward to refocusing on that and really getting things moving.

finally! I want to get back to tabletop! I miss doing it so much! it fell by the wayside for me because of how busy and overwhelmed I was, especially this past fall semester, but I want to start running and playing games with my pals again.

maybe Too Many things listed here, a little ambitious, but maybe that way I'll be able to hit at least one or two of them :b here's to 2023 and making it better than 2022!

no idea why i saved doing this for now when i feel absolutely exhausted but im not sure what to spend my time doing so list!!! disclaimer im not very good at making recs so im just going to pick different songs that have a wide range of vibes and try to hit on each album okay yeah :]

runnin' (trespassing) - this song is the first song i have a clear memory of my older brother introducing me to so it's my nostalgia song. insanely fucking good. follows the adam lambert formula of a hardcore verse and then this kind of lift in the pre chorus <- not sure how to explain. also LOVE the bridge and in the last chorus we get some incredibly vocals from adam so this is a big fave

shady (trespassing) - VIBES ALL THE WAY DOWN. this song makes me bop incredibly hard, it has a super catchy beat. adam also does this amazing slides into notes in all the pre choruses that gives it that kind of 'jazzy' feel (the way that hitting accidentals usually do). this is just a dancey song i would say!

soaked (for your entertainment) - has this jaw dropping opener (jaw dropping for me bc we don't usually hear that kind of sound from adam's music) but is overall a pretty slow song! it's this gorgeous ballad i would say. i feel like out of all his albums this one has the most diversity in songs but that might just bc the transition from soaked to sure fire winners is IMMENSE

more than (take one) - this is one of his oldest songs and you can somewhat tell by the sound, has this kind of slow march narrative anthem kind of energy, if that makes sense. i feel like the majority of take one has this hopeful lifting energy and that's definitely in this one but it feels well earned

the original high (the original high) - CRAZY catchy, has this kind of constant drive in the background with the acoustic guitar and fast beat. i feel like this is one of the adam lambert classics, it's not only the name of the album but it just feels very pinnacle in a sense. maybe not the most interesting in terms of his experimentation but very good nevertheless.

after hours (the original high) - this is a more mellow one of his but what i love about his mellow music is it still has a drive to it (even feel something off of velvet has this kind of gospel effect); this one still has a damn good beat underneath even when the sounds are a lot softer and fading in and out.

on the moon (velvet) - this one had me hand over my mouth for a few minutes after listening. his voice is very soft in this one over the really neat beat (sorry idk how to describe background instrumentals and electro bits well). the chorus is kind of transcendant and the best comparison (the BEST not necessarily a good one) is a little like frank ocean but only sort of.

superpower (velvet) - GAY RIGHTS GAY RIGHTS. super fucking catchy, love the bass. bit repetitive in lyrics but his vocals r SOOOO good and the lyrics that are there are really good imo. i wouldn't call adam one of those artists with heavy metaphorical lyricism or anything, this is no the amazing devil that's for sure, but they're effective and good and he vocally nails it each and every time. it also has a bit of a choral effect in the later bits which he loveeees doing so if ur not into that maybe pass but i think it's kinda funky!

if i had you (for your entertainment) - what got me down on this whole adam lambert fixation today. one of the earliest songs i ever heard from him it's just. has a hard and rhythmic bass hammering into you, a little of a more darker pop vibe, where the lyrics in my blog title come from. it's just a fun vibe and the music video has a MAJOR FLASH WARNING but if you're able to handle that it's like. so so fun.

better than i know myself (trespassing) - i rec this song a lot to people so not sure why i didn't already mention it. the lyrics encompass a lot of the vibes of a lot of different adam lambert songs but this one is just. SO good. the kind that you sing out while sobbing i think. also his vocals are beautiful.

If it will bring anyone comfort I do think vol 3 is good but not flawless and most of the talks that it is flawlwss will probably die down in time. The mcu projects since IW have been mixed to not good. Vol 3 has been highly anticipated and long awaited. It's definitely better in many ways than other films since IW. I think this leads to some amount of overinflated hype. I want to share that because I know some people have been upset and rightly so and it can't be easy to feel like everyone is adoring something that might feel personally hurtful. I also know it doesn't help that some of the people who are pointing out the film has flaws point to Gamora's plot as the issue but don't get into the details of why that is and whose at fault making it seem her character was just bad and that it's on the character being included rather than how the people in power made not so good decisions. That has to feel lonely for anyone who maybe doesn't have friends or family in real life who care or who they can talk to. But they should know they aren't alone or wrong or crazy for feeling hurt or disappointed.

i've personally rly enjoyed some post-eg projects, like shang-chi, ms. marvel, and even the hawkeye show (mostly for kate, yelena, and the nat-related scenes haha)! i am also potentially the one person who enjoyed what if...? bc i like seeing my guys in situations LMAOOO. i would also tentatively add wakanda forever to this list tho i feel like i need to rewatch it to have a more developed opinion. phase 4 was a lot more entertaining to me to half of phases 1-3 tbh LMAO

that said, i also think vol 3 is generally one of the better projects of the post-eg era, but that doesn't make it flawless. i think there are honestly very few mcu films that could be widely highly regarded in such a way that they're seemingly immune to criticism (i think the only mcu film i would even consider putting on a level like that is black panther - there's a reason that's the only mcu film to have ever been nominated for best picture at the oscars), and i wouldn't put vol 3 in that group for both gamora and non-gamora-related issues (rocket being a passive protagonist, the lack of build-up to characters' arcs concluding in them wanting to leave/retire from the gotg, etc.). even just looking within the gotg franchise, if asked to rank the 3 films in terms of quality, i'd honestly rank them in the order they released in (tho vol 1 and vol 2 are cloooose competition). but i do think vol 3 has also had a unique relationship with the hype its received in the lead-up to its release and afterward, given just how long we had to wait between the james gunn delays and covid delays - we were originally supposed to get it 3 whole years ago, in 2020!!

but yeah, no matter how good vol 3 is, there should still be room for ppl to not love it and discuss why, especially if the issues at hand transcend film elements and are more to do with like, representation of woc and stuff bc...that's a whole separate kind of issue

HURT/COMFORF FOR THAT ONE ANON

In the secret romance AU for Grimora and P03

The two were a pair in secret, though just out of the want instead of necessity. They simply didn't want to come forward about it yet.

But P03 had...some issues. They've got trust issues and there was always that small voice in their head that nobody cares about them. So Leshy's whole power grab just confirmed their feelings, and they begin to spiral, though nobody notices. P03 started pushing them away, even Grimora. She eventually decided to forgive Leshy, which hurt P03 deeply and the two of them argued about it. P03 decided that the only course of action was to hurt all of them back.

And so

the great transcendence plan happens, but instead of downright attacking P03, Grimora convinces the others to let her talk to them

She enters the room, and P03 is surprised to see her. She politely asks challenger/Luke to leave them for a moment, saying she wants to talk to them one on one. Mostly bc their relationship was kind of a secret and it'd be awkward to have this conversation in front of Luke.

once Luke leaves them she tries to talk them out of their plan, but seeing them shrink back as they try to argue back she asks what's wrong

When P03 doesn't answer she walks up to them and strokes their cheek, asking again, and is surprised when P03 pushes her hand away

"Don't pretend like you care about me"

"I- P03, what do you-? Of course I care."

"Yeah, right. None of you care, I'm never good enough for any of you, I'm always the bad guy, I'm-...I'm just some toy to you."

Grimora's heart just breaks when hearing these words

"P03- How can you say this? I-"

"You don't care for me, I know it! It- it was just some game to you, wasn't it? Just a fun playtime."

"No- I- P03, listen-"

"What we had didn't matter to you-"

"Please listen-"

"I didn't matter-"

She grabs their face "P03, I love you."

They freeze. Neither of them had said these words before, and P03 definitely wasn't expecting it. They finally look in Grimora's eyes, seeing the tears swelling up in them.

She gently wipes P03's cheeks with her thumbs, it didn't even notice it began to cry, and repeats. "I love you. So much."

"So please, don't ever say that nobody cares about you. I do, I care. I'm sorry I didn't notice you were hurting in time, but I see it now and I promise I'll make everything right for you. Just...please, stop this nonsense. Come home with me. Please."

P03 stays silent for a moments, trying to fight back tears, and they softly whimper "...I love you too..."

And she leans in to kiss them

Anyway, that stupid bot gets an intervention from the other scrybes and goes to therapy coz holy shit do they need it

do u have any thoughts on the whole “tim is zapped to time prison” storyline? bc i feel like it could have been pretty interesting and a good way to bring back young justice/tim’s memories more immediately if it hadn’t been such a blatant attempt to just get tim out of storylines bc they had no ideas for his character

sorry lol u don’t have to respond i just kind of wish people talked about this storyline more? and the fact that tim lowkey became one of the only people in dc with knowledge of the other timelines (i think so at least) and nobody really addressed it?? like going into the next phase where people learn about other timelines after death metal.... tim should already know some of this stuff right?

YES YES YES OKAY LETS TALK ABOUT THIS this got incredibly long because I just have a lot to say (and i included screenshots) and i prob got a little off topic but. but lets get started anyways:

i haven’t read that particular storyline in a few months so i might be missing/misremembering some details here, but that whole ‘time prison + future tim’ thing was like. a really really interesting concept and the implications/impacts it has are a big part of why i liked tynion’s detective comics run as much as i did even with it’s flaws in characterization (such as treating tim like he was jimmy neutron boy genius and making steph..... be all ready to quit/breakaway from the team like that. the steph quitting characterization really started i think in batgirl convergence and unfortunately has haunted her since, even though pre reboot never giving up was like...... one of her defining traits. dc i hate you sometimes)

i think that one of the biggest things that bothers me about the situation is how little we saw most of the other characters in the batfamily grieve (aside from steph and some with bruce, but again the way steph was portrayed just... hhhhhh. it very much reduced her to ‘tims girlfriend’ more than i’d have preferred) but otherwise like...as far as I can remember there was maybe one line in that monsters crossover thing where dick mentioned tim was gone, jason had a single line about avoiding the funeral in rhato, i dont think they showed any reaction from babs at all until after he was back, and the most for damian I recall is at the end of the 2014 teen titans run (#24) where he looks at... a case with the old red robin uniform Tim wasn’t even wearing anymore when he died? and that just bugs me. Instead of getting to see the actual funeral we get one flashback to it way after the fact once Bruce already knows Tim’s not actually dead

But at the time when they all DID think he was dead? the closest thing we see was in that same teen titans issue (#24) there’s a memorial-type ‘sharing stories’ thing after the funeral with tim’s titans friends but.... we don’t see something like that with his family. tim is a major presence in these peoples’ lives, they are his family, when he gets sent into time prison its even SAID how loved he apparently is

its just... idk. they all thought he was dead, and if they had put more emphasis on showing not just telling how that effected EVERYONE (not just steph) in the batfam, it might have felt a lot less like they were just putting tim away until there was a story idea for him. (like obviously I know they can’t make everyone’s stories revolve around Tim, but I’d have way preferred a detective comics issue of the funeral/memorial with the family than having there only be a teen titans one, I think it would have... held more relevance & meaning... but instead they just went right into that monster crossover story instead of lingering on this)

but then the Tim story itself once it does pick up way later, with titans tomorrow/future tim coming along having that whole “tell conner you’re sorry” “who’s conner?” exchange with current tim... that opens up A LOT of things to think about, and I think was pretty interestingly done if i’m remembering correctly. future tim recognizes the timelines are different, and ya know goes off to try to change things further ("whaddaya got there?” “a gun to kill batwoman” “NO!!!!”), theres lots of fighting etc etc the good guys win as we expect, but once that’s all settled tim’s left there with this whole. thought process

which ya know is the big indicator there’s weird timeline/reality fuckery going on (or also the read here can be that tim and kon are so connected across all space and time that their bond can transcend anything even timelines and realities and reboots... “and they were soulmates” “oh my god they were soulmates”)

ANYWAYS lets not forget that tim isnt the only one who learns about this other timeline stuff during this whole situation!

Brother Eye has records of future tim’s timeline, and cass & steph see who they used to be! and as soon as steph finds out ‘holy shit i was ROBIN and BATGIRL?’ she also desperately wants to know more! which then a bit later leads into young justice 2019 where instead of going off to college like they told Bruce they were gonna, Steph and Tim go get the help of Zatanna to see what might be going on in their brains with these timelines and weird feelings (as we see in flashback form in yj 2019 #5)

and HOO BOY DOES SHE FIND THINGS! she gets in there and finds out that oh yeah, their brains had very much so been tampered with, and with her magic she undoes some of it, by unlocking memories, and Tim finally remembers Conner! (also in case u were wondering, that panel is specifically a callback to this one from yj 1998 #17 when Cissie quit the team)

one thing that I think is weird/interesting/idk if it gets... properly addressed even, was that Zatanna also poked around Steph’s brain too and she didn’t remember everything? Might have something to do even with how Tim had been in time prison, might have taken less work from Z to open things up because of that? Who knows

additionally i wanna call attention to how he said “That entire chapter of my life” which... leading into my next point a bit... strongly leads me to believe even though he’s remembering some things he definitely does not have ALL of his memories back (because theres a lot more than just the young justice ‘chapter’ of tim’s life that was drastically changed by the new 52 & rebirth)

BUT moving on, i wanna bring up this part from later on (after they figured out that there was a crisis that caused things in the world to change, which is why their memories/brains were messed with) in issue #16

so yeah, I think it’s indicated even though Zatanna brought back some memories and opened up his brain a bit, there’s still many holes, and some things seem more like dreams rather than memories and he’s probably unable to tell which are which on his own to some extent. (also for reference the real thing that Tim thought was just a dream is... likely yj 1998 issue #1)

So based on the things i’ve brought up here (which are the things I remember off the top of my head, I could easily be accidentally leaving shit out LMAO i haven’t fully read through any of these books in at least 3 or more months now) I think it’s safe to assume that Tim definitely has a head start on getting back his memories before Death Metal happens, but that it was by no means a complete thing. So the after effects of Death Metal are probably just gonna... be a little less drastic for him vs most other people because it was already happening, but it’ll be kinda filling in the remaining gaps?

And like you said he is absolutely one of the few people that already knew about about the timelines/the fact that these crises have happened and changed things, but pretty much all the other young justice characters are also aware that there was meddling in the timeline/that multiple timelines and alternate universes like this exist since they were all together as a group when it got explained (in like. yj 2019 #15 i believe is where most of the explaining happens) (and cass as well is aware of things to some extent because of her and steph’s interaction with Brother Eye) but the difference is that Zatanna didn’t go into everyone’s brains, so they aren’t dealing with the same memory things as Tim (and possibly Steph? because again Z DID go in her brain, she just wasn’t able to unlock all the same things as she did with Tim)

but yeah in general i SO wish this was explored more, both in canon and in fanworks (fanworks tho... that can still happen >:3c). Memories hazily coming in for Tim while Kon and Bart are able to confirm or deny things, him dealing with conflicting memories and feelings about his past as they trickle in... like I think we’ll start to see these types of things moving forward across a lot of titles with Infinite Frontier (i BELIEVE dont quote me on this but I BELIEVE the person writing Damian’s upcoming solo had mentioned in an interview that the memories coming back of the other timeline aren’t going to be an all at once thing but will be more gradual for most characters) but the fact that it theoretically had already been happening for Tim for MONTHS and we only got that one crumb indicating it in #16 of it instead of any actual exploration makes me SAAAAAAD

oooh this is a fun question!! (and i’m going to take this as what their level for each would be aaa) long so under a read more!

ryuji: knowledge - oblivious (i don’t think ryuji is dumb at all with the kind of questions he asks, but in terms of crystallized intelligence, he could NOT care less which is basically what this trait is lol); guts - lionhearted (ryuji risked his LIFE for the pts, he is 100% topping out on guts!!); proficiency - decent (he can cook, so he gets some points!!); kindness - selfless (he has SUCH a good heart, but he needs to work on blurting out some things dfgjdfg); charm - existent (RYUJI....I’M SORRY UR SO SWEET BUT NOT SMOOTH)

ann: knowledge - oblivious (SHE THOUGHT HARD WATER WAS ICE....QUEEN); guts - dauntless (ann is sooo good at standing up for herself, but i think sometimes her self-consciousness can get the better of her); proficiency - bumbling (unless good makeup looks count towards this...altho idk if i would still bump her up even then lol); kindness - angelic (ann is the sweetest, most supportive and fired up friend ever!! she’ll fight tooth and nail for the ones she loves and she’s a soft presence to everyone she cares for); charm - debonair (she’s a model, she can charm shadows, she is unstoppable bc everyone loves her!!)

yusuke: knowledge - scholarly (OK HOT TAKE: i honestly don’t think yusuke is that much smarter than ann or ryuji BUT he does have a lot of knowledge on art and its technicalities, so he gets points here); guts - dauntless (yusuke definitely isn’t afraid to speak his mind, he WILL come for people!!); proficiency - transcendent (I MEAN...obviously); kindness - considerate (yusuke definitely can have empathy for others, but i think he’s someone that will say what he thinks regardless of the effect it might have on others); charm - head-turning (his looks and the artist mystique get him points but...ann’s criticism of him at the fireworks festival rings true oof)

makoto: knowledge - erudite (like yusuke’s proficiency, obvious lol); guts - staunch (i mean she can totally stand up for herself but the meeting futaba scene???? makoto.....); proficiency - skilled (she knows aikido, she totally has some good control over her movements, but she’s not at yusuke’s finesse); kindness - considerate (again, makoto can be very kind but she’s often incredibly harsh on others, i think as a result of her own experiences growing up); charm - head-turning (she’s well-spoken and knows how to talk her way around a situation, but real, interpersonal interaction and charm is pretty beyond her)

futaba: knowledge - erudite (a VERY smart little cookie); guts - bold (look it totally takes a lot of courage for her to go out into the world, but she’s got a long way to go on this one); proficiency - transcendent (maybe in a different way than akira or yusuke, but i’m positive she built her pcs herself, so she gets the credit); kindness - considerate (i know i’m ranking a lot of them here BUT while futaba definitely has genuine empathy, she just loves to tease too much and boy she can really say some harsh things...NO i’m not over what she said after the interrogation); charm - existent (has no charm and wants no charm, we have to stan)

haru: knowledge - learned (i don’t see haru as someone that’s a super bookish type - she knows enough but it’s not a passion); guts - dauntless (i think she’s a lot like ann in this regard - she’s VERY ready to stand up for herself, but she can get self-conscious about it at times); proficiency - skilled (she’s always working on her garden and getting better, but she’s not quite top tier yet); kindness - angelic (again, another thing she has in common with ann - she’s a fierce enemy to those that hurt her friends, and an invaluable ally when someone needs support); charm - suave (haru is very good pleasing others and making them happy, but like she said herself, anything past small talk is still difficult for her)

goro: knowledge - erudite (he’s gotta keep up his good grades and make sure he’s well-rounded no matter the conversation); guts - lionhearted (he would HAVE to be with everything he’s gone through); proficiency - masterful (he’s got steady hands and works well, but i think he hasn’t really tapped into any creativity, which i think would be necessary for transcendent); kindness - inoffensive (i LOVE mean goro, he deserves to be rude!!!); charm - debonair (he knows exactly what to say at literally all times, he’s always just as smooth as he wants to be...although he might lose points for the takoyaki incident)

sumire: knowledge - scholarly (she’s an honor student so she’s definitely keeping up with her studies, but she doesn’t seem the type to do independent research); guts - staunch (she really comes into her own, but i feel she still has a lot of self-doubt that continues to hinder her); proficiency - masterful (she has room to grow in her gymnastics, but she’s incredibly graceful and skilled without a single doubt); kindness - angelic (she’s literally so sweet despite everything she’s been through, literally a lil angel); charm - head-turning (i really don’t think this is something she thinks about like...at all lol but just in general with her sweet demeanor, i think she would make plenty of friends easily)

morgana: knowledge - scholarly (he’s got a lot of gaps to fill, but morgana definitely knows plenty and continues to learn more); guts - dauntless (he can still be a bit of a scaredy-cat, but i mean morgana’s speech during the yaldabaoth fight??? he’s got plenty of guts); proficiency - transcendent (IF NOT FOR THESE CURSED CAT’S PAWS); kindness - empathetic (morgana can DEFINITELY be rude, but i think he makes his good intentions known more often than not and he’s v supportive of akira); charm - existent (morgana....please....you need so much help)

Jeremy when you create your human characters and the skin, how do you find ones for parents and there children? like choosing the colors and how they work for related families. currently unsure how to do that

starting off, reading those first few words was an experience. The rest is under the cut bc long.

Second off, and this is me interpreting that best I can, starting with skin, I kind of take both parents and I then try to think abt possible skin outcomes when it comes to all of their family members before. Human Mango's skin color can kind of be linked to Maude and by extension, Great Grandad Buddy. This does of course pertain to the white characters I have, but since I dont have many drawings of Mason Sr.'s family above him you'll just have to trust that it does pertain to everyone.

Next, finding parents and then mashing them together like two barbies to get their kiddos. Gene mixing and coming to the conclusion of a kids looks is a process. They inevitably look like their own person, but placed near a parent they tend to have matching features. Let's take Derrick with Maude and Kevin. Now Derrick on his own looks like his own person, he has his own unique style, very colorful hair, a prosthetic hand, and he has the skin condition vitiligo which goes for the coloration in his skin/hair and sets him apart from a lot of people. Derrick is a unique young man with his own set of personal physical characteristics:

We all view this person as unique to his own being, but then we remember he was born like everyone else [except admin, mango, and codie. sorry babez] and he has parents. His mother is also her own unique person and passed some of her physical attributes down to Derrick [skin color, hair type, the roundness of his chin, and the natural heavyset build on his physique. You can see most of those here on everything except color bc I apparently dont draw Maude just by herself.

It takes two to tango and with that we have Kevin, Derrick's dad. Kevin has a lot of traits that are more dominant like hair color, eye color, and general facial composition. His nose is a recessive trait but it did manage to exist for a while until Derrick broke his nose and ended up with what is kind of a mixed up nose. Kevin is the reason Derrick's facial expressions sometimes turn out the way they do as seen in this comic [also including the 3 people involved in this explanation]

Now choosing colors to kind of link families together is definitely a process. An easy one, I've come to find, but a process nonetheless. It can transcend beyond just clothing, it can go into hair or eyes or even skin modifications like tattoos or piercings. Think to my universe and then think abt the color blue. Of course the first thing to pop into your head may be Admin, and by extension the Charleston family because a main constant is the color blue as seen here.

You do that and think of other color connections like maybe Pink for Derrick's family [derricks hair, maudes overall clothing, Mangos eyes] or maybe green for Kevin/Tyler [Kevin's style in high school, Tyler's clothing]

Choosing those colors just all depends on what would make your character happy. Maude loves the color pink, its her eye color and you see it incorporated in most of her outfits. Derrick likes making his mother happy, because that makes him happy by extension, and he knows that she likes the color pink, and gets that color in his hair when dyeing it for work. Its all about the happy factor. Think really hard like your character. What's their favorite color? How does it relate to things like their lives as children and their childhood homes?

For Admin its blue. It's a color she relates to school, because that's where her friends were. It's the color of her very unique eyes and it's the color of her Momma's eyes. It's the color of Mango's bedroom carpet and Mr. Mason's kitchen everytime she would go to visit. It is generally a color of comfort and so Admin directly correlates blue to happiness. Sometimes it does bring sadness, but such is life, a lot of things make us sad sometimes.
