for you, aur, i'll talk about my most recent CNL fic: oh, how was i to know, which is about clint realizing that natasha is his and laura's missing soulmate.

this fic kinda came out of two desires: i wanted to explore why S.H.I.E.L.D. knows about natasha and not laura, and i also wanted to explore the pre-bond time, cause i knew from the start that clint didn't know that natasha was his soulmate when he saved her life but i didn't know how to explain that

(it was fun to write about pre-canon CNL, though, cause it let me use the timeline i made for my very first CNL fic which will never see the light of day! one day, maybe, i'll use the laura backstory from that fic for something)

the fic kinda ended up centering around the middle scene, where natasha tries to grift clint and he sees through it. i didn't plan for this scene, but it makes sense -- i feel so, so strongly that natasha's trauma and past affect her WAY more than we see in canon. so writing that scene kinda ended up with me... theorizing how clint (and laura, by extension) would deal with that. and the answer is that they are also both traumatized! but also that clint leads with compassion, even when it's kinda stupid to do so, cause clint trusts his gut above all. and trusting natasha is the strongest gut feeling he ever has in his life, even before he finds out that she's his soulmate.

Barry just leaned forward, plopping his head against Magnus’s chest. Magnus wrapped his arms around him and pretended not to notice that his shirt was getting wet.

“You’re just so young,” Barry said, voice wet with tears. “You and- and Lucretia, you’re- I can’t even imagine doing this at your age. I’m- Magnus, you’re so much stronger than you know.”

“Bull in a china shop, yeah, I got it,” Magnus said. Barry might have laughed a little, but it sounded a lot like a sob, so Magnus wasn’t too sure.

“Emotionally, I mean,” Barry said. “I can’t- like, I broke down ‘cus my faucet was leaking when I was your age. And you’re out here fuckin’- dying and shit, you- godsdamn, Magnus, I should be the one giving you a hug.”

this one is literally just about magnus hugging ppl. he's so huggable!

Sure, thanks for asking! You Can Be Me (When I'm Gone) is a sequel to The Kindly Ones, which is a sort of Sandman adjacent Avengers AU from Clint's POV. The summary is:

Once again, the six Aspects of existence receive a petition. No one is irreplaceable. Nothing is permanent. And that’s okay.

There's over 6,000 words written and what isn't written has an outline that works, so the odds are looking good for this one getting finished soon-ish! Snippet:

Since half of the universe was wiped out of existence it might be said that Soul should have an easier time with less to look after, but grief itself takes up so much energy and the hole in his heart gapes still, an open wound. It's an unnatural emptiness. It feels like constantly missing a step, like something he should be able to see in his peripheral vision but that moves too fast for him to catch. Like being haunted. He's tense and on edge all of the time. It’s exhausting, and he was already tired.  That's the underlying and fundamental problem. They are, all of them, so very tired. Still, they are compelled to gather here as part of their function. The haze gathering in the open, circular space in the centre of the daises is one of the reasons why.  It’s rare that they are petitioned by mortals, but it still happens and they must be available to receive them. Thor leans forward in his chair, Loki deigns to open one eye, Carol actually sits up, Wanda uses one hand to sweep an opening in her magic, and even Tony pauses in conducting his symphony of ideas. “It’s green,” Tony points out, unnecessarily and gleefully, which means that someone has found the Time Stone. The haze slowly resolves into the figure of a human man, tall and broad shouldered with a large circular object on his back -  “Fuck me,” Tony says, “it’s Steve Rogers," and he starts laughing.

Oooh, good question!

For this year, I'll have to say that, in spite of "exit wound" being the more epic work, I am extremely proud of "crimson eyes", my MotoGP x CoD AU.

I put all of my effort into learning how to use code on AO3 to format tweets, texts and Instagram posts as such and I spent so much time making graphics, finding images and more to make it all that more realistic.

I girlbossed so close to the sun that AO3 can't make an ePub file from it, sadly, so I have to figure out how to do it myself, lol!

There were lots of good things about being a private investigator: working whatever hours you wanted, indulging the overly nosy aspect of human nature, having reason to purchase fantastic trench coats. (letting me in or letting me go)

“It’s going to rain,” she tells him, apropos of nothing. It’s May in Omsk, utterly picturesque, blue sky and fleecy clouds and the river Irtysh throwing dappled sunlight in every direction. Even the back alley he has her cornered is positively scenic, as far as alleys go. (all the magic i have known)

It’s 11:45 on New Year’s Eve, and no, Clint doesn’t know where Natasha is, and yes, he knows they’re often together, but they’re not right now, obviously, and it’s not like he’s her babysitter, is he? (the time of night some people call morning)

It begins, as too many things in his life do, with Dog Cops. (and at night be warm)

“She’s in Venice,” Phil tells him; but Clint has been chasing the faceless Black Widow through Europe for two years now, and he’s learned better than to take the certainty in his brow seriously. (con te partirò)

Everyone knows who Natasha Romanoff is. (who wants to be a billionaire)

Objectively, it’s Clint’s fault. (fast, thorough, sharp as a tack)

When Janet suggests a team bonding event, Natasha thinks she means… you know, normal stuff: an art gallery, a movie; hell, even bowling. (some moments more spectacular than others)

There’s a diner at the end of the block, and that’s what it’s called. (minor arcana)

Sometimes, you lean against a brick wall outside a coffee shop to take a selfie with your coffee, and nothing happens. In fact, go ahead and replace “sometimes” with “usually,” or “99% of the time.” It’s highly unlikely, after all, for a wall to be anything other than what it appears to be. (listen, there's a hell of a good universe next door)

Although it’s not the career Clint Barton intended to have, he is, it turns out, an incredible assistant. (a "billionaire" sequel whose working title is "a fake marriage that definitely won't become real, no sir")
