Hi I just need to come in with an observation that's been breaking my mind and it heavily includes Don so.
You know the Canto order, right? Here's an interesting thing about that, if you split them up into trios, they all seem to have some form of thematic thread connecting that specific trio.
For example Gregor, Rodya, and Sinclair are all people who have been trying to Move on and almost run away from their Pasts but are still deeply affected by them. Yi Sang, Ishmael, and Heathcliff seem to be people who are being Haunted by their Pasts to a much deeper degree. Meursault, Outis, and Faust are the most outwardly suspicious Sinners due to their connections to various factions, and their Cantos are likely to focus on Revealing those Secrets.
So what's the connection between Don, Hong Lu, and Ryoshu? I think it's the idea of perception and reality/unreality.
Don Quixote's whole thing is that she's said to have delusions, her view of reality is presented as heavily skewed, and her source is focused on the tale of someone neck-deep in his fantasies.
Hong Lu has this thing is that it's impossible to tell just how genuine he actually is being at any point in time, and his source has a decent amount of focus on breaking down the idea of what is true and what is fiction.
Ryoshu has a strong distaste towards dishonesty and people who delude themselves, while being based on a character who could only create art out of real things he has seen.
Like I can't be the only one going a little insane over the fact that the order of chapters includes Character who is presented as completely delusional -> Character who is unclear on how much about him is real and how much is not -> Character who is fully focused on presenting the cruelty of reality in all its detail, right?
...Sorry about dropping this in your ask box I needed to scream this at someone who is interested in Don cause I have brain worms.

I didn't think about them in that type of trios, but it does make sense
Delusions and reality is an extremely good idea even if I am still thinking that Don is not as deluded as she seems. I also think if theory about Don being Sancho is true, and if Ryoshu's backstory is close to original, combined with how abusive and controlling Hong Lu's family seems, their cantos theme can be about control over them?
That's actually becomes even more intresting idea when you notice some parallels between them.
And you can't imagine how much I want to see this trio to interact.

(Quick note, this was made as a sorta post-response thingy to an ask from an anon, which gave me an idea of more chaos in the Smiling Psychopaths, specifically more emotional chaos.)

[He hugged his body closely, crying into his chest, he wanted it to be a nightmare, to be something his damaged brain had made up. But the truth was there, he was dead, the person he loved the most was dead, and he doesn't know how to bring him back.]
"No..... I wasn't there..... the moment... I tried to not be clingy, your life was taken away from me...."

I.. agree with that statement? I completely agree with the fact that Palestine should be free.
