Nedzu: Greetings! Am I a mouse, a dog, or a bear? The questions you should be dwelling on are regarding your child's education! I am Nedzu, Pro Hero and Principal of UA Hero Academy, and it will be our delight to help shape the course of your child's future.
Nedzu: Thank you for your interest in our wonderful school. We at UA will make your child's future our utmost concern whether they will be applying to our Heroics Course, General, Support, or Management. No matter where your child's path will lead them you can be assured that they will go beyond your expectations.
Nedzu: If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or a member of our faculty.

Bats and MHA World Building
For those of y'all who aren't familiar with MHA, the HPSC is the government agency in that world that manages their heroes. Therefore, heroes are basically super powered cops (they are government sanctioned enforcers).
I've always been curious how the Bats would view that system. It's been proven that HPSC is corrupt and not to be trusted. Gotham is extremely corrupt, especially the police force.
The Bats definitely would not become licensed heroes. In that world, they may become vigilantes instead. Would they fight heroes, though? Would they fight the HPSC?
I kind of want a MHA AU (not crossover) that examines the Bats and their ideology with government, licensed heroes, corruption, and quirks.

This could be said of any character, but it is really interesting to read the many ways Nedzu is written across the fandom. From psuedo-eldritch being, someone intelligent enough to rule the world but chooses not to, or sometimes tamer "still the most intelligent person but can make mistakes".
Though the ones that make him "morally ambiguous" are weird when we see that he clearly cares for people. Even if he has some... antics here and there.
(Poor Ashido and Kaminari.)
As like many things, it is a shame there was no full mutant discrimination arc that could have covered a bit more about Nedzu's history and what was the general reaction to an animal with a Quirk.
Nedzu is such a fascinating character. He's basically the ultimate underdog, being someone who was discriminated against for not even being human who became a Hero purely because of his brain. Honestly it's tragic he never interacts with Midoriya

What about an AU where Manual replaces Aizawa as the 1-A homeroom teacher?
Oh boy we can fit SO MUCH projection into this one
1- Manual only applied to UA because he was applying a bunch of hero schools, and he didn't think he'd get UA but why not try, at worst it's extra interview practice before he really tries at Ketsubutsu. And then he got only got a job at UA and no other school, somehow. And he can't technically complain because UA pays the best and it's a job he signed up for, but how???
2. He also didn't apply as a homeroom teacher, but they offered it to him anyway and he uh doesn't really say no. He figured he could change positions after a few years already if he wanted to, and planned on it, but then realized he liked this position much better and so kept it instead
3. Actually you know what sure all the projection. His third year he ended up being freshman homeroom team lead, which he's pretty sure isn't supposed to happen- Vlad had more experience but said he wanted a break this year from it and no one else applied so....
4. His third year is also when he gets our beloved class 1A! They do not get expulsion threats, and go to orientation. Then Manual tells them they have an essay due at the end of the week, about why they want to be heroes and what their current plan is, to be completed before any combat training. Several students pitch a fit about writing when they want to learn how to fight, but Manual points out that as part of their training, they'll have to do a lot of unpleasant things. Will they put effort into the record keeping they need to learn as pros if they aren't willing to write a paper? Will they be able to communicate in team exercises if they can't even put what they want as a hero into words? How patient can they be for slow moving cases? The class can see his point even if it's not exciting.
The second day of school, two students hand him papers. Bakugou asks if he can start fight training sooner now since he did the whole dumb essay. Midoriya asks him to look over the first draft if he doesn't mind, because he just had a lot of ideas where to take it and wants it to be really good.
By the start of homeroom the second day, these two are no longer sitting in desks right by each other.
5. On the fourth day of school, while Manual has his class looking over their costumes and getting peer feedback, he realizes that Vlad usually would be sending bragging pictures of his class in rescue training right about now, to see if Manual could get his kids to beat them next week when they went to USJ. He sends a message. It doesn't go through.
He thinks "huh, that's weird" right before robot sentry alarms go off about vines erupting from USJ's roof and throwing students out frantically. Manual grabs the closest non combat adult in the hall to watch his class and runs to help figure out what's going on.

NEW AUS?! OOOOH I pick the funniest one you have out of the mystery two!
We'll do you one Better! I Mod Asphodel, Shall Introduce the Hazbin Hell School au! All of the Classes are Hell born. (Some have Sinner blood but that's it). 1-A is united under a single sinner. The massive panther of a sinner making a deal with two Devils Lucifer and a certain Rat, for Territory and supplies to teach a class of kids as a test. Nedzu Encouraging it in the hopes to bring better unity between Rings.
Aizawa now has a Class! He did not expect his class to have 2 Kids of Hell princes(Momo and Todoroki, 2 Ars Goetia Children(Bakugo((Furcas)) and Tokoyami((Unknown))), A grandson of one of the most Infamous Overlords(AFO) know to steal and own souls Who is also adopted by the One Who No longer Feasts(Yagi) Heir apparent of The OFA Overlords((Izuku)) and Many more Hybrids and Hell Born. Satan have mercy on his damned soul this is going to be Chaotic as they prepare during the next six months until Extermination.
Now I Pass this to Mod Kiwi! Pokemon Time!
Pokémon au. Me and mod Boreal got incredibly unhinged with Pokémon and we completely made an au where there are no Quirks and the characters all lived in a world of Pokémon. Not a lot of people are dead in this au. Even the OFA Users are alive in this au. We really just put everyone in the world of Pokémon, give them Pokémon, and throw them on their wacky adventures and I went unhinged and made all the Gym Leader teams in Showdown.
Of course then me and Boreal decided to go for plot and we became more unhinged and now here we have All For One as the Leader of the Evil Team while the League does CRIME.
(ghost of boreal here, pokemon is like imagine if there was politics in pokemon colosseum and so you are technically forced to go the gym marathon in the other neighboring region, don't mind the tension slowly and literally feeling the air i'm sure it is fine-)
Like Boreal said. Politics in Pokemon and kidnappings where 7 out of 8 gym leaders in Bakugou and Midoriya’s region are missing so they have to go to the neighboring region to do it. And they have to fight two extra Gym Leaders instead of the usual 8. Fun.
Please go and ask us about our aus we were all incredibly unhinged as we made them

As much as I love the “Aizawa is Nedzu’s personal student/protege” troupe, I have something so much better; Hizashi is Nedzu’s personal student.
If you haven’t heard of this before, hear me out. If you have, you know the drill, but I came up with a timeline/AU that I think works.
Shortly after the Oboro Incident, Nedzu called all the students in that year’s hero course to his office one by one to check in on them, and then Hizashi walks in. He’s so goddamn peppy and bright, but everything he says is so perfectly calculated that Nedzu almost misses it.
Nedzu sees a child with manipulative tendencies, a showy, child-friendly public persona, eyes that notice far more than they should, and a sense of frustrated rage that underpins everything he does.
For Nedzu, looking at Hizashi is like looking in a mirror.
From there, things spiral. Nedzu asks Hizashi what kind of tea he likes, and Hizashi probably says that he makes his own blend so Nedzu can’t buy it, but he could bring some in and give Nedzu the ingredient list with all the proper ratios and how hot the boiling temperature of the water should be? And Hizashi just so happens to have a free period twice a week, so he can drop by next free period he has? And when he’s there, Nedzu starts telling him about how tea spread across the world in pre-quirk times, and explaining the political factors behind the spread of tea (Britain annexed India and absorbed tea into British culture, America threw their tea away in rebellion when they gained independence but tea slowly seeped back into their culture as a sweetened iced beverage mostly thanks to Japan, etc), and Hizashi says he might drop by again to finish their conversation next time.
A week later, Nedzu is teaching Hizashi about how rebellions start, and how to incite them, and how Japan is in a precarious political position thanks to the HPSC and rising crime rates spurred on by quirkism and how the HPSC is purposefully inflaming quirkism through the kinds of heroes that they choose to support and endorse along with subtle manipulation of the school system so that the HPSC can make people scared of ‘dangerous’ quirks and lean on the HPSC for safety-
Towards the end of the year, Nedzu tells Hizashi that in his third year, Hizashi will officially be his personal student and that he will have his own course designed for him along with… assignments. Hizashi quietly wonders what took him so long.

i love ur fic sm but the entire time im reading im thinking oh god there are like at least 40 people that are watching this (class a and b) and getting secondhand embarrassment for izuku bc i could never show my face again 💀
Izuku (and yourself) are embarrassed. Izuku is like “oh teehee im sorry i murdered myself”. Everyone else is horrified. Everyone else is like “wtf are you okay??? Can i get you a mental icepack???”
Also half the time class A and B are duking it out with full on quirk use and destroying the whole gym so I promise you the embarrassment is minimal

(You sent me a prompt that gave me an excuse to start afohiko branch Krakenverse!! Though the afohiko is pretty much over… and the Kraken is just beginning to spread his influence…)
Nedzu settled into the chair opposite of Sorahiko’s, smiling with his mouth and his eyes, despite the angry red scar newly inscribed on his face. Taken aback by the wound—what could have gotten Nedzu?—Sorahiko silently poured his fellow High Mage a cup of tea.
“My thanks,” said Nedzu politely, and stole one of Sorahiko’s pastries too.
He grunted in acknowledgment; he was a little wary, in truth, of the reasons behind Nedzu’s visit, so Sorahiko resolved not to be the first one to talk.
Nedzu hummed, then spoke. “There’s trouble in the seas, have you heard?”
“I haven’t visited the coastal regions as of late,” Sorahiko answered, “and a landlocked kingdom such as Todoroki is unconcerned with those matters.” He paused, having processed the peculiar phrasing of Nedzu’s, then echoed, “‘In’?”
“High Mage Akkorokamui has claimed his inheritance at last.” Sorahiko concealed the rueful, almost wistful swell of relief that he felt reflected from his otherself, until Nedzu added, dry, “He’s quite determined to exceed his father in baseless tyranny.”

Which one of your students (please pick one don’t say you love all of them) is your personal favorite?
File: NewsInterview_5331TK.vid-trscpt
Reporter: The public is dying to know.
Nedzu: There are a few flaws in such an idea. First, although I do give the student body a few lectures as needed, I do not interact with the students on a regular basis so I cannot form an opinion one way or another towards their persons.
Reporter: Even though UA is rumored to have thousands of cameras and you can watch them at any moment?
Nedzu: There is simply not enough time to maintain a constant study of every individual or interaction on the school grounds. In theory I could track an individual but with all my duties as principal to say nothing of interacting with people via email and other communication methods I simply do not have the time unless something is brought to my attention.
Reporter: Oh! That makes sense.
Nedzu: Second, students are rarely sent to my office as UA faculty are quite capable of handling most issues. I meet with parents and guardians more frequently than with the children themselves. That being said the children who are sent to meet with me are typically in need of assistance or warning that they were unable to gain from their teachers.
Nedzu: Third, furthermore given my position as principal I must be impartial. If I allow myself to have favorites then the system as a whole would be open for abuse! Can you imagine the trouble that would cause not only myself or UA but the academic system as a whole?
Reporter: Aw, that's not fun.
Nedzu: You asked for my honest opinion, Haruki-san.

Quick question, does anyone know if Nedzu was the principal at UA when All Might graduated, and if he was, what chapter or episode it was stated/implied?

Yeah, I can’t recall Nedzu smoking in the story either. I assume that is because we almost always see him at the school, where he wouldn’t smoke in the same vicinity as the students. If we ever saw him in private at his home (I need to know what Nedzu’s home looks like) we’d probably see him smoke there. Or if he was going out somewhere.
Yeah, it was one of those 'casual clothes' sketches, so it's clearly meant to be him relaxing at home but Nedzu is very mysterious so we know nothing about that

there’s a small part of me that wants to try writing nezu too but i kind of don’t want to add him to this blog because my muse for everyone else is so much stronger?? and i feel like he’d be completely swamped out / i’d never want to choose him for starters.
i could make a sideblog like i did for my time travelling au toshinori... but it feels weird somehow to do that, though i’m not sure why. any thoughts??

ooooooooooooooo. i love the concept of Feral Izuku! so i am guessing the first two quirks are during the entrance exam? what was the reactions? Also. i fucking love the Refs. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD [can i be Blood anon?]
Yep! Blackwhip and Float were during the entrance exam! Fun times for everyone. Nothing like ending the entrance exams by having one of the participators have eldritch black tentacles come out of him, float ominously, and tear the robot into shreds while screaming in rage!
It was terrifying. Everyone was low-key terrified of him. They were impressed and terrified of him. Eraserhead just looked at Izuku and just knew he’s going to be a problem child. Nedzu was absolutely fucking thrilled by this.
Yagi is looking at this and the first thing he thought was "Go young Midoriya! Use the power of One For All!" and then he sees him with Blackwhip and Float and is just "WAit he's using my mentor's Quirk!"
Bakugou just looked at the chaos Izuku caused and thought “Holy shit. Deku finally snapped.”
