There are the hugs that you can feel through your screen, some of them you just want to look away, because this moment belongs only to the couple on screen, they are just so intimate and there are so ones where one wants to crawl into the other one and I am here for this kind of hug. This desperate need for each others closeness.

Their hugs just felt so good! I loved giffing those moments. They needed the other one physical close, they felt peace in those hugs and it was their way to show how much they cared for each other. I loved every single one of those hugs!

Kiseki: Dear To Me

This hug felt so good. Finally they were reunited again. Finally they could hold each other again. And damn this was such a beautiful hug! They hugged with their whole body and soul. Imagine holding the love of your life finally in your arms again after years of spending apart. I love it!

Tokyo In April Is...

There is no space for anything else between them. Kazuma made sure of that. He neeeded Ren to feel this hug, and for himself to feel this closeness again. Both are in love with each other, even though they couldn't tell each other yet, but for us viewers it was cristal clear. This hug alone made it clear for us. I love this hug so much!

Pit Babe

Yes Babe, cry because you're so happy to have Charlie back in your arms! Beautiful. I needed this, he needed this and Charlie needed this too! We all needed this! And I love Pavel's facial expressions in this moment.

I Feel You Linger I The Air

The most desperate hug after the most saddest fuck this year! Such a beautiful scene! They knew they didn't have much time left and just made love. They wanted and needed to feel every inch of each other, and it felt so intimate, I had the urge to look away and let them have this time alone in closeness and happiness and desperation.

And now after these beautiful scenes we go on to my favorite side couples 2023. I love a good side couple I can concentrate on and forget about the main couple 😅

The first couple is one of the most precious ones of this year. We knew them and we knew they had incredibly chemistry and could act really nice, but nevertheless they blew us away:

Heart and LiMing from Moonlight Chicken

Their story was so wholesome and important. Their journey was so good. LiMing's struggles with his mum and his uncle, the money and the fact that he wanted to see the world were so ordinary and felt so real it was so good. And Heart's problems with his parents and the urge to be more independent and to be seen felt so sad and Gemini was so good. Oh I love these two and their stories!

Next we have a show I didn't like that much, but I was in love with the side couple. They were the only reason why I kept up with this show.

Zeke and Fifth from My Story

They had an extreme intense chemistry. I loved them on screen and their journey to finally become a couple. I was hyped for their own show and was so let down. I couldn't watch it. It was too much cringe for me, but this is just personal preference. In My Story I adored them and this scene especially.

Next is the couple, that has the most entries in all of my Top 5s this year:

AiDi and ChenYi from Kiseki: Dear To Me

I love them. They stole the show and my heart. Their dynamic is so adorable after they finally become a thing. In the beginning I was a little put off. I didn't understand their relationship, but within a few episodes this changed I was rooting for them so much! I was so happy when ChenYi finally understood his feelings for AiDi and AiDi finally got what he wanted desperatley for years!

I don't know if the next one counts... The show has three couples and I guess one was the main couple. Well, I cared more about the other ones.

Love Class 2

Maru and Minwoo had the softest kiss this year in my opinion and Sungmin and Joohyuk had this lap-situation and everything else that came after. I really enjoyed their stories and their characters. The main couple was just not that interesting for me. But because of the side couples (or the other main couples) I enjoyed this series so much!

I close this list with a couple, that is a little bit problematic for me. I don't like the series that much, mostly because of the main couple and the bad writing for them. But the writing for this side couple was so much worse!

Jaab and Jane from Step By Step

I was so pissed with their ending! What was that? There was no real conclusion and I still don't know if they are happy together now. They had this huge cheating plot (and I like those tropes, but only with a good solution in the end) and before they could work on that Jane was never seen again. This was so sturpid, I was so angry. I wanted them to have their own stupid happily ever after, but no, we have some creepy stalker like behavior and some mystery... no thank you, but besides that I liked them so much and I wanted so much more of them!

I’m going to assume this was meant as platonic! 💜💙

“I can stop seeing him, if you want.”

The statement came in the middle of the night, after she had been silently staring at the ceiling for what might as well have been an eternity. Luka always seemed to know when she was awake — she wondered if it had something to do with inner melodies.

She shifted in her bed, the pillow unusually uncomfortable below her head.

“No,” she replied, honestly. “I don’t want you to sacrifice something that makes you happy.”

From the other side of the cabin, Luka took a sharp breath; she waited, but no words followed.

“It does make you happy, doesn’t it?”

Again, no answer. Highly uncharacteristic for someone who could have been the poster child for healthy communication.

She laid there in silence, giving him a chance to compose himself.

“It’s just… It’s not like I hoped it would be.”

“Because of his parenting style? There was absolutely no chance Mom could have ever dated a disciplinarian.”

The joke fell flat. She twisted her neck in his direction — willing her feline vision to let her see for herself that he was alright.

“It’s the way he’s been treating you,” he relented. “Almost like you don’t exist.”

“It’s probably easier for him to connect with his son than with his daughter.”

She had fed herself the same excuse many, many times. It was easier than facing the reality of their situation.

Now that her brother had voiced the same concerns, the words rang even shallower.

“You and I, we come as a package deal,” he said from somewhere in the darkness. “Jules, I’m so sorry. I should have said something to him earlier.”

She nodded to herself, tears pricking her eyes as she pulled the blanket up to her chin.

“I don’t need him,” she replied, sincerely. “I already have all the family I need right here.”

Luminara Unduli would never be a bottom because she definitely that bitch who is ALWAYS in charge. With all the bullshit she has to put up with in both the canon and in the fanon, that woman would have all the pent up feeling to go on all night or go full blown domantrix on whoever that lucky bottom would be (I would personally volunteer my services). No matter where she is and what she’s doing, Luminara gets shit done and that is that. Via osmosis, Barriss Offee is most likely a top too since her mother has taught her how to be a bad bitch like her 💙💚

2.) What character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because of how the fandom acts about them?

Grogu. Like he’s literally just a baby but my God judging from all the mass excessive merchandising you would think that at one point in time Grogu was the only Star Wars character that existed and that’s not necessarily his fault by the annoying group of people who literally only watched Mando just for Grogu and Grogu only. There are so many people out there who will never watch a Star Wars movie or anything else that isn’t Mando just because Grogu isn’t in it and again it’s insane because again he’s just a literal baby. If the show was exclusively about him, it would have been a boring show. If I wanted to look at something cute, I can just go look at puppies or some shit. I don’t need to watch a show for that.

15.) Opinion of Anakin’s characterization (I.e the broification of Anakin Skywalker).

This is a very loaded question because I don’t really swing either way with this topic (as in I don’t love or hate it). Like on the one hand, I like how in the CW show they made Anakin more with it and mature when the situation calls for it which makes sense considering he has Ahsoka to consider and he has to be a good role model for her. I also appreciate how in the show Anakin isn’t just bitching about Obi-Wan or obsessing over Padme all the time or being pissy with his other Jedi colleagues. I love seeing Anakin actually being a model Jedi and actually showing that he truly does love and respect Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, etc. However Anakin is seen as more sensitive in the movies and doesn’t always respond with such rage all the time like he does in CW show. Like bro Anakin’s anger goes from 0-1,000 in seconds to the point where he’s just destroying gadgets, kicking Clovis ass, etc. So in short, in some ways I personally think they did a good job expanding on Anakin’s character in the CW however there is no denying there is a huge distinction between Matt Lanter Anakin and Hayden Anakin. They most likely went the bro route because toxic masculinity is in.

16.) Best written female character in Star Wars.

Leia hands down. Her character is one of the very few Star Wars characters that is consistent and true in every single project we see with her in it. And like I’ve never met a Leia hater in my whole life and if I did I would question that person’s character because Leia is a badass that holds everything together when no one else will or when people leave her. She honestly deserves her own show.

17.) What event is Anakin’s point of no return in his fall to the Dark Side?

Shmi’s death. Had that never happened Anakin probably would not have taken those visions of Padme dying in childbirth or Palpatine’s bullshit stories seriously. It was only because Anakin lost his mother that he was insistent on keeping his wife and children safe at all costs because he did not want to endure that kind of pain ever again.

6. Opinion on canon and/or fanon use of the secret child trope? Discuss

I don't mind it. The secret child can be a good trope if the context is right for it. I mean Star Wars is centered on secret child trope pretty much. Where I'm not so into it is the Korkie headcanon that he is Obi Wan and Satine's son. It's a bit too crackhead for me and also it's not my ship so I'm biased against it.

12. Name a common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing.

Anything about Rey tbh. I may not be a big sequels person but anytime the fandom tries reduce her to an overpowered female Luke and say she's unoriginal I roll my eyes.

Like they are nothing alike. Luke got to live comfortably taken care of by his aunt and uncle. He never had to scavage scraps just to be able to eat. And before anyone comes for me, I'm NOT ripping on Luke. He had what anyone should have.

What I'm saying is Rey didn't get to have guardians or a comfortable house or regularly even be able eat. She was abandoned and did what she had to to survive. As for the overpowered thing like she's able to fly ships or fight back, like come on. I repeat, she. was. a. scavanger. She got to know ship parts and as for fighting, she's had to fight dickheads like Teedo and probably worse to keep food, homes, etc. After rewatching TFA, i notice she learns from OBSERVATION. She mimics what others do around. This is a survival skill she had her whole life.

Of course Luke is going to take a little more time to learn things. He was never put in that situation where it was do or die (as any child shouldn't). Rey was and however fast she was at learning a skill is a result of basic survival instincts.

She and Luke ENTIRELY different characters and to say she's a female version of him cuz she's from a desert????? Reductive and a big lack in media literacy tbh.

14. What's the most egregious example of fridging in canon?

God which one? 😅 Fridging is probably one of Star Wars biggest crimes. Leia is the first that comes to mind because she died to redeem her piece of shit son that she did not deserve.

But then again, Anakin's turn to the dark side is also due to fridging with his mother and his wife. Especially with Padme since there's an old version where she actually gets to live a little bit longer with the Rebellion and tried to kill Anakin.

I may not be a big Satine person, but that's fridging too to give Obi Wan angst and more Maul animosity.

I'm still going to say Leia in the sequels though as the most egregious. Because it was so out of nowhere (yes I'm aware that Carrie's death was probably the reason but I don't care. There are better ways to kill off/write out a character than fridging). Her death served no purpose other than Kyle Ron no accountability. Like what in "Jesus died for our sins" is this bullshit? Why must Star Wars' most iconic woman have to go out for a man that did nothing but hurt and betray her? It's insulting tbh.

Edit: Luminara's death was fucking awful too. Like ain't no reason to have it be so horrific. Sigh... can Star Wars like not hate women for once.

21. Best canon example of a healthy relationship in Star Wars

Romantically that is a tough one. Honestly I'm coming up short with this one. Can't say Han and Leia cuz we only see their rocky start and end and nothing in between.

Maybe Kanan and Hera but their relationship kinda got ruined for me when suddenly at the end, he wasnt aware if Hera felt the same about him??? I just thought they were basically married and I'm supposed to be believe they haven't even had that conversation by THAT point in time??? Plus the ghost baby thing creeped me the fuck out. Can Star Wars please stop with the out of nowhere pregnancies please?

So yeah canon romances, nothing comes to mind. In fact Star Wars is kind of built on toxic romance.

♡ a little spicy but Mammon has to water the garden at HOL most of the time in the summer as a punishment from Lucifer for whatever scheme he tried recently. And you being the supportive partner that you are try to help him with the work. Mammon will pretend to accidentally get water on you so that your outfit gets see through.

The first time it happened, it was actually a accident on Mammon's part. You did catch on to this after a while but if you tell him about it, he will literally flush harder than he has ever before and deny it with everything he has.

Ooooh alright

▪️ MJF runs the bookstore. He lowkey hates it but it's his so he takes great pleasure in making it the most unwelcoming bookstore on Long Island. He's gotten awards. Which have only made more people want to come buy books. Marks.

▪️Piper "runs" the instagram. Which is to say it's just pics of her lounging on bookpiles. MJF fights with people in the comments who call it unsanitary. Fuck them, Piper is perfect and they don't deserve books anyway.

▪️Max Caster is in there so often everyone assumes he works there. He does not but he rings people up and unpacks books and flirts with customers so it's understandable. MJF is tired of trying to force him out because Max is bigger and just giggles like MJF is being cute because he just keeps coming back so whatever. Also Piper loves him. Urgh.

▪️Danhausen runs a weekly DnD night. He's a spooky little pervert but he brings in money and Max asked really really nicely so he lets it be. The group is weird. There's a guy who dresses like a drunk cowboy who seems to be in a very aggressive rivalry with a guy who dresses like a vampire. MJF will never admit it but he's weirdly invested in whatever the fuck they've got going on. There's a guy who looks like a old timey boxer, shit tattoos and all, who never seems to speak but still seems to manage to play fine. He makes Danhausen uncomfortable. MJF loves that.

▪️He has an intense rivalry with that asshole Cole who opened The Undisputed Kingdom bookstore down the street. Profiting off MJF's popularity, the snake. They have an ongoing "prank war" which is less pranks and more out and out property damage.

When Kel was about two years old, he had a very bad cold with a nasty cough. 5-year-old Hero was so worried about his little brother and his coughing that he crawled out of his bed in the middle of night and curled up beside Kel's crib to keep an eye on his. In the morning, their parents found him fast asleep holding Kel's tiny hand through the crib bars.

While shopping at a department store, Kel and Hero once found a pair of very expensive athletic shoes marked down on clearance. Kel wanted them very much, but they were too big for him at the time. Still, after much begging (mostly by Kel), their parents bought them with the intention that they would eventually be passed down from Hero to Kel when Hero outgrew them and Kel grew into them. Knowing how much his brother wanted those shoes and feeling bad that Kel always got his hand-me-downs, Hero rarely ever wore them. Instead, he wore his old shoes as long as he could even as they were falling apart and his feet grew too big for them. It was worth it when he finally passed them down to Kel in perfect condition.

Since Hero is very afraid of spiders, Kel has always taken care of any spiders they find in their room. Kel knows that even though spiders scare Hero, he would feel bad if Kel just started smashing them, so he always scoops them up and places them outside (often on the window sill). Even after all these years, Hero doesn't realize Kel is doing this for his benefit and thinks his brother is just very kind and sensitive to spiders.

but basically eddie and tim meet and lucy and buck meet, and they both complain (affectionately) about their partners and together they realize they’re all dumbasses in love

anyway, here’s the basis of what i have 💙

The guy nodded his head, taking Eddie’s response in. “So, you here avoiding the wife?”

Even though it’d been awhile now, it was still difficult to answer sometimes.

“No, she uh, she passed away a few years ago now.” Before the guy could comment, Eddie quickly added, “we weren’t together for a while before that, but…” He trialed off, the other guy seeming to understand with a simple nod of his head.

“So girlfriend then?”

“No, don’t have one of those either. What about you…wife, girlfriend…or husband/boyfriend?”

The man looked Eddie over for a moment, seeming to think about his answer before saying, “nope, don’t have any of those either. But uh, it would be a girlfriend.” He didn’t say it in a way that made Eddie think he was afraid Eddie was flirting with him, just simple and matter of fact; he seemed like a no nonsense kind of guy.

“I’m Tim by the way,” the guy said, extending his hand out to him.

“Eddie.”

Two more beers were placed on the counter in front of them, the bartender looking between the two of them.

“So, if y’all don’t have any spouses or such, what’s got you here drowning in your sorrows?”

Both Eddie and Tim sighed, answering in unison. “My partner.”

They turned to each other with raised brows, the bartender even more curious than before.

“I thought—you two just said you were single.”

“Work partner,” they both clarified, looking each other over once more. The bartender eyed them keenly, though left them to it when their attention was called elsewhere.

Tim turned to face Eddie, eyes raised in interest. “So, you got a pain in the ass partner too?”

Eddie scoffed. “You have no idea.”

Tim took the fresh beer, raising it out, Eddie taking his and knocking them together.

“So, this partner of yours got a name?”

Eddie wanted to say there were several, though he went with the easiest.

“Yea, Buck.”

Huh. Looked like him and this random bar guy had more in common than Eddie thought. It was just coincidence though, right? Wrong; he was so very, very wrong.

I don't know if you mean real life ships, and I don't really go there. I like watching some bits of fanservice and I adore the friendships of some of those onscreen couples, but I don't ship them.

So for this list I chose some of my favorite pairings these year 😊

The latest one, but already one of the most beloved ones:

Mhok and Day from Last Twilight

They are cute behind the scenes and the fanservice is decent, but more on the friendship scale, which I really like. And those two characters... I am in love with them, indisputable. The way Mhok makes Day smile and the way Mhok looks at Day... my heart can't take them anymore. I love them so much! They give me such a good feeling and I enjoy them so much on my screen.

Next one is a couple I really like behind and infront of the camera:

Yang and Phumjai from Love In Translation

The series was such a gem. And I adore those two behind the camera so much! My TikTok-feed was full of them. They have such a deep and precious friendship and this shows on screen too... They were so comfortable with each other and the way Yang looked at Phumjai with his heart eyes... so cute!!!

My favorite side-couple is next on this list:

AiDi and ChenYi from Kiseki: Dear To Me

I don't like the taiwanese fanservice that much. There is too much skinship for me that feels very much set up and only for the views. But I adored Aidi's and ChenYi's relationship. The hurdles they had to overcome and the fact that AiDi loved ChenYi for years... it all was so heartwrenching and when they finally got together they were the sweetest psycho-husbands ever and I would defend them til the end!

Some might forgot them already, but for me they live rent free in my heart:

Kawi and Pisaeng from Be My Favorite

I love these two! There is not much fanservice, but those two can sing and there are some beautiful videos of those two jamming together! And Kawi was my little puppy from the first time I saw him on screen and Pisaeng is just the best! I love their relationship and their journeys to finally be the best versions of themselves.

I close this list with my favorite show and my favorite pair from 2023:

DongWook and DoHyun from A Breeze Of Love

Typical for korea, there wasn't that much fanservice, but as I said before, I don't care so much about that. I loved their on screen presence and they had fantastic chemistry. They wanted each other and I was so there for them wanting each other! I love the friends-to-enemies-to-lovers-trope. I can't say, what exactly makes me so weak for them, but I could rewatch this series over and over again and still enjoy the shit out of it!
