Comparing Toriel at the beginning of Undertale, deciding for Frisk that the best thing for them would be to stay with her without wanting to explain the real danger of the Underground to them, against Toriel in the True Pacifist ending being the only one to point out that Frisk came from the Surface, and may want to go somewhere else instead of living with their new monster friends, asking them what THEY want to do. 

Wanting to keep Frisk with her was well-intentioned, but it did come from a place of trauma. And she’s grown past that trauma, somewhat. She no longer insists on clinging to Frisk tightly so they can’t get hurt, and is capable of letting go. And she remembered that Frisk wanted to go home, and is willing to accept their choice if that’s what they decide. She went after Frisk to help them against Asgore not just because she wanted to live with them somewhere outside the Ruins, but because confronting Asgore and saving their life was the right thing to do, after getting it wrong for so long. 

Toriel, like the rest of Undertale’s cast, is flawed. She’s depressed and traumatized, after losing two children and seeing her ex-husband declare war. She can hold grudges for a long time, and still isn’t over her grudge against Asgore. 

But she does grow, change, and start overcoming her grief and depression. And I think some people miss that. (Assuming they caught onto her grief to begin with.)

I have so many thoughts and feelings about Asgore x Toriel. It's just so depressing.

Talking about undertale first, Toriel seems to have moved on from Asgore completely, and even more, completely despised him for years because of his actions, which is fair. And Asgore on the other end really just held on to hope to be with her again, because what he really wanted was to have his family back and for everything to return to normal. Because holding onto that hope is all he had. But that could never happen.

I really appreciate how close they were when they were happy together, and even with how messy everything got after the kids died, they eventually reconciled in the post-pacifist route. Asgore working in front of Toriel's school and they're just chilling, and also the alarm clock dialogue where they're happily reminiscing and playing together.

One could interpret they got together again? But I mean, not to put soriel in the conversation, but considering all the neutral routes where they end up living together, and hints in the alarm clock dialogue, and that one ut q&a that implies they also live together post-pacifist route (or at the very least close enough she makes sans and papyrus lunch everyday), and yknow, everything in deltarune - it's pretty clear Toriel has moved on completely. And post-pacifist Asgore too it seems. And I'm happy for him.

But deltarune boy oh boy.

This isn't decades after their falling out where I'm sure both of them are just tired of this by that point. Oh no, this is probably not even that many years after at ALL, maybe it even happened after Asriel went away for college. We're literally watching them crash and burn right now and it's so bad. PLUS WE DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW IT HAPPENED.

And obviously it's not good to be together just for the children - sounds like a nightmare to me but that's probably a bit of projection on my part - and Toriel shouldn't be with him if she doesn't want to. But Asgore's financial and living conditions is just so bad, and to put salt in the wound he hasn't even moved on from Toriel yet, while she definitely has. (Or trying to, as soon as her ex stops sending her flowers and flirting with her in front of another guy she was trying to flirt with. Sorry, that scene just kills me it's so good).

I really hope Asgore can get better from this state soon since I don't see them getting back together at all. I assume their falling out wasn't so simple as Toriel just not loving him anymore, there's definitely something bigger there and I would bet it's something involving him losing his job at the police department cof andDessmaybe cof.

But even then I still hope we manage to hit that reconciliation we have with undertale because they were so good together and can be very good friends again. We can only hope.

Hey so remember in the a Undertale alarm clock dialogue when Asgore said that he and Rudyused to be Santa and Rudolph during the holidays and give gifts to little kids and people????????

Sansgoriel Headcanons

In my headcanon. Sans is the one accidentally bring Toriel and Asgore back together. I feel like Sans and Asgore got together first while Toriel and Sans were best friends, who were making puns together. Before Frisk fell down. Sans spent time making puns and jokes with Toriel while also spending time with Asgore. After Frisk freed them all from the Underground. Toriel and Asgore were still tense for a while, but Sans continue spending time with one and the other. Despite Sans and Asgore being in a relationship both Sans and Asgore also had feelings for Toriel (and for each other of course) I feel like Toriel did had feelings for both of them as well, but she still had a hard time forgiving Asgore. After all she truly cared about the human children. Toriel blamed Asgore, but she also blamed herself for not protecting them better. All Monsters and Frisk definitely get therapy sessions after they left the Underground. But overtime Toriel and Asgore were managed to move on. With time Toriel joined Sans's and Asgore's relationship I feel like Toriel never truly stopped loving Asgore, but it was hard for her to be around him. For Toriel and Asgore it was awkward again, but Sans always lightened the mood with his puns. It also helped them having Frisk around as both Toriel and Asgore see Frisk as their chance to be parents again. Asgore and Sans are definitely whipped for Toriel. I think Toriel sometimes watches Asgore interact with Frisk and she cannot help, but to remember Chara and Asriel. Sans stays the dunkle to Frisk. I'm not sure if Toriel and Asgore ever will have another child (besides Frisk). If they will then you can bet Toriel and Asgore will get overprotective and Sans have to tell them to chill. Their relationship is filled with Toriel and Sans making puns and Asgore either laughing or being clueless. Frisk has three parents now. Technically this will make Sans the King as well.
