omg I'm obsessed with your latest "don't fucking touch me" prompt. Would you continue it?
Hello! I know this is actually from earlier in the week than the one I answered a couple of days ago, but I was saving it because, while I don't exactly have a continuation, I do have a little stobin interlude I wanted to share
I'm still working on the "fix it" part of this idea, but at least in the meantime Steve gets a hug?
[Part 1]
It isn’t unusual for Steve to show up at Robin’s house well after any reasonable guest would come knocking. It isn’t unusual for him to do it by climbing the side of the house and knocking on her window (she hasn’t told him that her parents don’t really care anymore if he’s there in the middle of the night; she figures the physical activity counts as some kind of jock enrichment). Unfortunately, it isn’t even unusual for him to appear out of the dark because he’s upset.
What’s more unusual is the way he sits silently on her bed after she’s let him in, the way he’s almost folded in on himself, the way he won’t quite meet her eyes – as if there’s anything he can or even needs to hide from her.
What’s fucking unheard of is the way he starts crying when she pulls him into a hug, his face pressed to her shoulder and his arms wrapped around her waist like she might disappear if he doesn’t hold on.
Robin doesn’t even understand what’s happening at first; she can feel Steve shaking against her as she rubs a hand up and down his back, but when his shoulders start to heave like he’s having trouble drawing in breath, a cold bolt of uncertainty lances through her gut. She tries to pull him back to look at him, to see what’s wrong, but she only gets him far enough away to hear one very quiet sob before he’s hiding his face again and she realizes–
“Oh. Oh, shit– okay, this is happening. Okay.” Robin resolutely does not panic as Steve sobs into her shoulder, even though crying isn’t something Steve does (not that Robin’s ever seen, and she’s seen Steve through a lot); instead, she goes back to rubbing a hand up and down his back, bringing her other up to pet his hair, and tries her best to project literally any kind of comfort. “Okay, you’re okay – well, you’re obviously not okay, but I’ve got you. You can just let all this out and when you feel up to it you can tell me what’s wrong because you’re kind of freaking me out, but not until you’re ready, okay? I’ve got you.”
She feels maybe her success is mixed, but Steve doesn’t complain and he doesn’t seem to be made more upset, so she can’t be doing too badly.
All told, Steve’s breakdown is unsettlingly quiet. Robin tries not to think about why he can cry so silently, and instead focuses on finding the transition from actively sobbing to sniffling and trying to catch his breath. The next time she tries to pull him back, he lets her, still not quite meeting her eyes and automatically bringing a hand up to wipe at the tear tracks on his face.
Robin has seen Steve all manner of beaten and bloodied and bruised, but somehow, sitting here in her room, still half-curled into her space with his face blotchy and wet from crying, she thinks this might be the most upset she’s ever seen him. She can only imagine what’s happened to cause it – at least until she can get him to tell her.
“Get it all out?” Robin asks, as gently as she’s able (she’s never been great at gentle, but Steve’s used to her by now, she thinks he’ll get it).
Steve shrugs, but then gives a little nod.
“Okay, so here’s what we’re going to do: I’m going to give you some tissues so you can clean yourself up, because I love you, but I’m not going to wipe your nose.” This gets a congested laugh from Steve, and Robin allows herself an answering smile. “Then I’m going to go downstairs and get you something to drink, and then you’re going to tell me what’s wrong, because I am this close to being seriously alarmed.”
“Sorry,” Steve says gruffly, ducking his head, moving to pull away.
“Nope, we don’t do sorry here, nothing to be sorry for,” Robin insists, grabbing Steve by the shoulders and keeping him close. “I just want to know what’s wrong, okay? I want to help. So here.” She shoves the box of tissues from her bedside table into Steve’s lap and gets up with one last squeeze to his shoulders. “I’ll be right back.”
Robin slips out of her room and sneaks down to the kitchen (her parents don’t really care about Steve’s late night visits, but they will be grumpy if she wakes them up), poking around quietly for some kind of suitable post-breakdown sustenance. She ends up with a bottle of Gatorade from the fridge and a half-eaten package of Oreos from the pantry – the late night snack of champions, she decides.
Back up in her room, Steve has shucked his sneakers (no shoes on Robin’s bed, it’s a cardinal rule) and settled himself up against the pillows; his face is dry and his eyes aren’t as red, but the tiny smile he gives her when she passes over her spoils still makes him look just as sad as before. Still, Robin valiantly lets him get through half the bottle of Gatorade before she elbows him gently in the side, demanding answers.
“Right.” Steve caps the bottle and rolls it nervously between his hands, watching the highlighter fluid yellow slosh around inside. “So, uh. You know how I’ve been seeing Eddie?”
Robin’s heart sinks. “Oh, shit, did you two break up?”
“Actually, it turns out…” Steve clears his throat. “It turns out that there wasn’t anything to break up. Apparently, we’ve been friends with benefits this entire time and I’m just a delusional idiot who made up an entire relationship in my head. So there’s that.”
There is nothing Robin can think to say to that. There’s entirely too much to unpack, and none of it makes sense.
“What,” she finally manages, a little flat.
“Yeah, he said that, uh. I’m not the type of guy you have a relationship with, and that I’m hot, but I’m just a good friend, and we’re just having fun.” If Steve’s voice cracks on the last word, Robin doesn’t mention it.
In fact, she’s too busy being consumed by rage to really notice. “He said that to your face?” she demands.
Steve clears his throat. He won’t meet her eyes. “Not– not exactly.”
“Steve.”
“The guys were over, and I went out to get some air, and that’s… what I heard Eddie saying to them when I came back in,” Steve says. “So now they know how pathetic I am, too, which is. Great. That’s fucking great.”
The world goes still. Suddenly, everything makes perfect sense. Robin reaches out and squeezes Steve’s wrist. “I’m going to have to leave for a few hours, okay?” she says. “I have to bike down to the trailer park and fucking kill Eddie.”
In a flash, Steve twists in Robin’s grip and grabs her by the wrist in turn. “Don’t leave,” he says quickly.
“No, he doesn’t– he doesn’t get away with this,” Robin hisses. “He doesn’t get to do this to you and not face consequences!”
“He wasn’t trying to– I mean– I was the one who–”
“Are you defending him right now?”
“No, I just– fuck.” Steve lets go of Robin and shoves both hands up into his hair, grabbing and pulling. “I already feel enough like some fucking – loser reject, okay? I don’t want to be alone right now. Please just… stay.”
The rage doesn’t abate (if anything, there’s probably more of it), but Robin’s priorities do rearrange, and she settles back on the bed next to Steve. “Fine,” she huffs. “Munson gets a stay of execution.”
She pushes the package of Oreos into Steve’s lap and orders him to finish the Gatorade. She doubts if he’s going to escape tonight without a migraine, but dehydration on top of stress will only make it worse.
They sit quietly for a while, munching on cookies, shoulder to shoulder on Robin’s bed, before Robin breaks into the silence.
“You’re not a loser, Steve. You’re my best friend, and you deserve to be loved, okay?” she says softly, reaching over to wrap her hand around his wrist again. “And one day it’s going to happen. I’m choosing to believe in love, too.”
For a long moment, Steve says nothing. When he finally does speak, his voice has gone a bit rough. “If you make me cry again, I’m dumping what’s left of the Gatorade over your head.”
Robin snorts, squeezing Steve’s wrist. “There’s that mean girl I know and love.”
Steve laughs, too, small but sincere, and Robin takes it as a win.

This was supposed to be for the Ladrien June prompt "morning", but I didn't feel like waiting another week or so 😂.
Excerpt:
[CW for grief/mourning and recent character death (Gabriel)]
Adrien cleared his throat. "I...ran into Chat Noir outside. He said he had to go, but he told me..." He took a deep breath, continuing in a whisper. "I know my father's dead." It was the first time he'd said it out loud, and the words came out surprisingly clear. It was only afterwards, when they hung in the awkward silence following Ladybug's sharp intake of air, that he felt like they were eating him from the inside out. Ladybug's grip tightened. "I'm sorry, Adrien. I'm so sorry."
Read on Ao3, or under the cut!! 💜
The rising sun hit Adrien's back as he forced his front door open, its light casting an eerie glow over the mansion’s battle-torn foyer. Half the ceiling was caved in. The staircase was all but destroyed. And scraps of metal amongst the wreckage glinted gold, like the dying embers of a fire. Like the end of an era.
It wasn't the victory it should have been.
As the door slipped from his fingers, Adrien squeezed his eyes shut and stopped to take a few steadying breaths—a dangerous idea. Police officers were still on site, gathering evidence amidst the wreckage. One of them could easily notice him, and then he might get stuck answering their questions. He needed to move. He needed to remember the simple instructions he'd outlined for himself before walking back inside.
Sneak into the kitchen. Grab food for Plagg. Get out.
Run.
He could cover his tracks later. It wouldn't be too hard to find an excuse for Ladybug as to why Chat Noir hadn't come back after he allegedly went outside to recharge. It would definitely be easier than facing her as his civilian self—as Monarch's son—right now.
But hesitation had cost him. "Adrien?"
Ladybug.
Unable to reply or to so much as glance in her direction, Adrien stared resolutely at a piece of rubble by his feet—a piece which he thought used to be part of the bannister. Tears burned the corner of his eyes, but he did his best to blink them away.
He tensed when he heard her approach, something he wouldn't have noticed so quickly if it weren't for the debris scattered about. Any other day, her footsteps would have barely made a sound against the marble floors.
Too soon, her feet stopped in front of him. He struggled to keep his breaths even, fighting to remain upright when it felt like the entire world was closing in around him.
"I...I thought you were at Nino's," she said.
Had he told her that? He barely remembered any of the excuses he'd made last night. It was hard to recall much aside from how he'd awoken a few hours earlier to find his father's body splayed unnaturally across the floor, his vacant stare somehow still bearing traces of disappointment.
The ambulance had pulled away maybe an hour ago, with no sirens to accompany its departure.
Adrien only realized Ladybug was probably waiting for a response when she grabbed his hand, pulling him back to the present with a gentle squeeze. His stomach swirled. Couldn't she have reached for his other side?
She deserved better than the hand he'd used to destroy his own father.
When he finally managed to look up, he only felt worse seeing the sympathy in her eyes. He quickly looked back to his feet, panic drowning out any response he tried to cobble together in his head.
"Has anyone told you what happened?" she asked.
Adrien almost said no—which would be the truth, technically. Nobody had told him, unless he counted the clarifications Plagg had provided after the fact, details of what occurred after Ladybug and Chat Noir fell victim to Monarch's Akuma. Part of him wondered how Ladybug would tell the story, which parts would she soften or leave out. He wondered what she really thought.
But maybe it was better not to know.
Adrien cleared his throat. "I...ran into Chat Noir outside. He said he had to go, but he told me..." He took a deep breath, continuing in a whisper. "I know my father's dead."
It was the first time he'd said it out loud, and the words came out surprisingly clear. It was only afterwards, when they hung in the awkward silence following Ladybug's sharp intake of air, that he felt like they were eating him from the inside out.
Ladybug's grip tightened. "I'm sorry, Adrien. I'm so sorry."
His gut coiled tightly with some unbearable emotion. He tried to think up something else to say, lips parting as he raised his head to look at her. But the second he met her eyes—so wide and blue and sad—speaking was a lost cause.
His lips quivered. A sob clawed its way up his throat, tugging another one up behind it before the first had even broken free. Ladybug's hand rubbed up and down his arm, and that was all the encouragement he needed to finally release the tsunami inside him.
Adrien had killed his own father.
For months he'd been suffering. Adrien had assumed, when Monarch reappeared from his brief hiatus, that he was okay. That the Cataclysm hadn't been fatal. Instead he'd had a front row seat to his demise—to all the times he cried out in pain while cooking breakfast, trying to pretend everything was fine whenever Adrien noticed.
But if it weren't for that Cataclysm, if Monarch's health hadn't been weakened, then the world might have ended a few hours ago, torn apart and rebuilt in his father’s image. With his parents and Nathalie still alive.
How was he meant to feel about that?
He didn't even know where he was supposed to sleep tonight.
But at least Ladybug didn't hate him. At least he still had one friend in this crazy, twisted world.
She pulled him into her arms as he broke down in tears, as he crumpled like the ceiling and shattered like the windows. As he was reduced to nothing but a shaky foundation, to the dying embers of who he used to be.
Adrien and his cold, lonely home finally had something in common.
...
"Here you go," Ladybug said, sliding a mug of tea across the kitchen counter as she settled onto the stool beside him.
Adrien wrapped his hands around the mug. The water was still too hot, but it took him a few seconds to notice. By the time he loosened his grip, his fingers already stung.
"Thanks," he croaked, his throat raw from crying. He wasn't really the biggest fan of tea, but it had seemed to make Ladybug feel better having some way to help him.
The least he could do was pretend she'd succeeded.
For a while they sat in silence. Adrien stared blankly at his tea, vaguely aware of how Ladybug kept shifting around like she couldn't get comfortable.
"Do you...have any questions?" she asked eventually.
He shook his head. None of his questions were for the living.
"Well," she said, "if you think of any later...I'd be happy to answer if I can. And if there's anything else I can do..." She reached out slowly to touch his shoulder, and it was all he could do not to shake her off. "Is there anywhere you'd like to go? Someone you'd like to see?"
Adrien fiddled with the string of his tea bag, watching it bob up and down. "Am I even allowed?"
"What do you mean?"
"To leave."
"Why wouldn't you be?" When he shrugged, her hand slipped from his shoulder. She slid her stool closer. "Adrien, you're not in trouble. Nobody thinks you had anything to do with any of this."
Maybe they should.
Adrien swallowed. "But...don't I have to talk to a social worker or something?"
"Oh. I, um...I don't know. I guess so, but there's nobody here right now, so...I don't think anyone would mind if I took you somewhere else to wait."
He nodded slowly, hand moving automatically to his pocket. He shifted to pull out the lucky charm he kept there, wrapping his fingers tightly around it. "Maybe I could go to my girlfriend's house."
"That sounds like a great idea," Ladybug said, jumping to her feet. "Let's go!"
Adrien remained glued in his seat, his stomach swirling. Seeing Marinette probably would make him feel better—at least on the surface. But how long could that last? Hiding his identity hadn't really come between them since they'd gotten together, but this was different. How could he hide the worst thing he'd ever done?
But what if he told her and she never looked at him the same way?
Ladybug's stool scraped against the floor as she sat back down, and she sounded upset when she spoke. "Do you not want to go?"
Adrien set the lucky charm on the table and watched the beads blur behind fresh tears. "I'm...scared."
"Why?"
"Because...what if Marinette sees me differently."
"Do you really believe she would?" Ladybug asked in a small voice.
He thought for a moment. "No? I don't know. Probably not, but...she could."
She grabbed his hand, and when he glanced her way there was an intensity in her eyes he couldn't interpret. "I'm sure she won't."
"You can't know that."
"But I do! I—she loves you, right?"
Adrien's stomach clenched, but he managed a nod as a hot tear rolled down his cheek.
"Exactly!" Ladybug said, gesturing nonsense with her free hand. "So there!"
He mustered a small smile for her enthusiasm, but it was short-lived. "It doesn't matter," he said, wiping his eyes. "Things are different now."
"Sure. But...that doesn't mean everything has to change, right?"
He didn't answer, trying to ignore the feelings swirling inside him by poking at his tea bag again. The water was cool enough now that it didn't hurt when he accidentally dipped his finger in, but the idea of actually taking a sip and swallowing seemed foreign. So he kept staring at it until a sniffle came from beside him. He turned to see Ladybug with one hand covering her mouth, tears trickling down her cheeks.
"My lady?" he said without thinking, reaching over to set a hand on her shoulder. Panic spiked through him when he realized what he'd called her, but she didn't seem to notice.
"I'm sorry!" she cried. "I didn't mean to...I'm f-fine! It's just that you—I just want to help you! But maybe I c-can't. And it's not f-fair, that you're hurting. And..."
Her next words were drowned out by a sob. She slumped down on the table, hiding her face in her arms. All Adrien could do was sit there rubbing her back until she calmed down, at which point she pushed herself up slowly, wiping her eyes.
"I'm sorry I let this happen," she said.
"What?" Adrien replayed her words in his head, certain he'd misunderstood. "It wasn't your fault."
"It was my job to stop Monarch from making the wish, and I...failed. Even if he didn't succeed...someone's still paying the price."
"That's ridiculous." It was his fault.
"Adrien, it's fine. You don't have to..." She drew in a shaky breath. "If you're mad at me, I understand."
None of the morning had felt real, but now Adrien was sure he must be caught in some sort of alternate reality.
Maybe the wish had worked. Maybe his mother would walk into the kitchen at any moment.
If only.
"That makes no sense," Adrien said slowly, still trying to wrap his head around things. "If anything, it's Chat Noir's fault."
Ladybug's eyes went wide. "Did he tell you that?"
How was he meant to answer that? "Not...exactly. But he told me about the Cataclysm, and—"
"Please don't blame him for that. I know he feels terrible enough already."
"Because Monarch's dead thanks to him. It's his fault!"
"It's not," Ladybug pleaded. "He was just following my plan, and Monarch caught us off guard, and then..."
"But...but you..." Adrien trailed off, his body shaking.
He didn't know what to say, because technically Ladybug was right. But he didn't blame her at all, and he certainly didn't want her blaming herself.
"It was my fault," he said, knowing it was true. He felt it with every inch of his body, with every useless breath he took.
The guilt consumed him.
"Adrien," Ladybug breathed. "It's absolutely not your fault. How could you even think that?"
Only once he processed her words did he recognize his own misstep. But she hadn't caught on yet. He could still walk this back.
But he wasn't sure he wanted to.
This secret took too energy much to hide.
"It was me,” he said shakily. “It was my..."
He couldn't finish the sentence. He could barely even breathe. But he could see in Ladybug’s eyes that she still didn't understand, so he raised his hand to mimic the motion, stretching out his fingers the way he would if he'd really called on his power. He tried to mouth the word too, but he wasn't really sure his lips obeyed. Slowly, he lowered his hand to the counter, letting it collapse into a fist when he made contact.
Cataclysm.
He watched as realization slowly dawned on her. Then she blinked hard, shaking her head as if trying to dismiss the idea. But her eyes flew to the ring on his hand, widening further.
“Chat Noir?”
"I did this," he said in a broken whisper. "I killed him."
"Oh, Chaton. No." Ladybug stood, wrapping her arms around him. "It was an accident. It's not your fault."
Adrien thought that maybe, if he kept taking breaths so small they barely counted, if he let his mind float away the way it had been threatening to do all morning, then maybe—maybe—he could keep from crying again. But Ladybug rested her head on his shoulder, her warm breath ruffling his T-shirt. And that was all it took for him to come apart again.
...
They ended up on the floor, wedged between both stools. Adrien wasn't sure if he'd fallen off his seat at some point or if Ladybug had carried him here. He didn't care. As long as he could keep lying here with his head in Ladybug's lap and her fingers in his hair, he could somehow keep the guilt at bay. He could stop it from devouring him whole.
But he couldn't stay here forever.
Marinette's lucky charm was clenched in his fist again, and he was afraid to let go.
"Should I tell her?" Adrien asked.
"Hm?"
"Marinette. Should I..." He closed his eyes. "Do you think she'd hate me if I told her the truth?"
Ladybug let out a shaky breath, her fingers freezing in his hair. "She won't hate you. And...yes. I think you should tell her."
"Okay. Maybe I will."
"How about this?" Ladybug said. "If she breaks up with you, I'll date you instead."
Adrien managed some semblance of a laugh. "What about your boyfriend?”
“Mmm." She twisted another strand of hair around her finger. "Somehow I don’t think he’ll mind.”
“All right then. It’s a deal.”
Her offer was a joke—he knew that. But somehow it still felt like a promise.
"Would you...like me to take you to her now?”Ladybug asked. “I still can, if you want."
"Maybe." He thought of the bakery. Of Tom and Sabine's welcoming smiles, the smell of croissants, and being wrapped up in one of Marinette's hugs. It sounded nice. "Give me five more min—" He broke off in a yawn.
Ladybug laughed. "Or you can get some sleep first." Her voice was gentle and steady and safe. "I'll stay with you."
He tried to reply, but his words were engulfed by another yawn. So he settled for mumbling his agreement, squeezing the lucky charm to his chest, and letting his eyes flutter closed.
Maybe in his dreams, the world wouldn't hurt so much.

OBX DAY 5 — CHILDHOOD FRIENDS TO LOVERS W/ POPE HEYWARD
word count: 586
summary: y/n wonders why her best friend has stuck around for so long when everyone else has left her.
a/n: a short and sweet one for my last obx week post! unfortunately, i will not have the time to complete the day 7 prompt, but that is definitely something i will file for a later time. <3
Tumblr media
"That's it! I'm never dating anyone ever again!" you exclaimed.
"Come on, Y/N," your best friend, Pope, responded.
"No, I'm serious. Being in a relationship is a waste of time. There are so many other things I could be doing."
"Maybe you just have a thing for assholes."
If it was anyone else, you would've been mad. But your best friend was right. You seemed to only attract guys that were self-absorbed jerks. It got to the point where you began to wonder if something was wrong with you.
"Y/N, nothing is wrong with you. You're smart, ambitious, and confident."
And the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen, Pope thought to himself.
"Okay, but one can argue that my confidence is too assertive. Do you think I'm just too much?"
"No, are you kidding?
"I mean, I know I can be loud sometimes—"
Pope cut you off before you could continue, "I'm going to stop you right there. Any guy that can't realize how amazing you are is not worth your time, understand?"
You sighed. Usually you just let your friend win these conversations, knowing there was no use trying to get him to agree with you.
Sometimes it frustrated you that no matter what, Pope always saw the good in you. He always convinced you you were a good person, even if it felt like you weren’t. You felt as though you didn’t deserve his unconditional love.
You two had known each other since preschool. Well, your parents’ idea of preschool, which meant dropping their kids off at a “daycare” that was really just someone’s aunt’s house, because neither of your families could afford the real thing.
It worked out though, because now you two had each other. There was no Pope without Y/N. No Y/N without Pope.
“What are you thinking about?” he asked, pulling you out of your thoughts.
“Oh, nothing,” you tried to play it off.
But this was your best friend you were talking to. “Y/N, come on.”
“Ugh. Fine. I was just thinking about how long we’ve known each other for.”
“How long we’ve known each other for? That would be…” he counted out the years on his fingers. “Just over a decade now.”
“Well, yes.”
“So… what about it?”
“Why have you stuck around so long?” you questioned.
“Y/N, what kind of question is that?”
“An important one.”
“I don’t know why.”
“See, I think you’re lying.” You’re not sure what compelled you to say this, but after years of men going in and out of your life, you wondered why this one in particular had stayed.
To your surprise, Pope was actually speechless for once. You thought he was going to make a joke, like usual, but he seemed to actually be thinking about an answer to your question now.
After a while, he said “Because, it’s you.”
“Now, what kind of answer is that?” you mimicked his earlier line.
He sighed, “Don’t you see, Y/N? It’s you, it’s always been you. I’m so sick of seeing you with the same kinds of guys over and over—”
“Hey—”
“I’ve heard you excuse their behavior a million times, but none of them deserved you. You deserve the world, Y/N, and it breaks my heart that you can’t see that.”
You were stunned. In a quiet voice, you whispered, “But where am I going to find better?”
“I’ve waited for you for eleven years now, and I’ll wait eleven more. Whenever you’re ready.”

MODERN AO'NUNG HCS PT. 2 — SAMOAN!FEM READER
pairing. human!ao'nung x samoan!fem reader
summary. just Ao'nung with a Samoan girlfriend
warnings. swearing
a/n. for my polynesian babes wherever yall at ❤️
Tumblr media
masterlist. pt. 1 pt. 3
AAPI month and Samoan Independence day have passed and I think of this idea NOW 😭☠️ out of all times wtf
BUT ITS SUNDAY AND STILL SAMOAN LANGUAGE WEEK ‼️
But idc 🧍‍♀️
Gotta do what I gotta do because I am not letting ts go
I love my culture, just like anyone else does, I'm still learning more about it so I researched and placed some of my own knowledge into this.
Tumblr media
Aiuli - Participants who dance and cheer around a solo performer as they dance. Participants are never allowed to dance and cheer in front of the performer, only from behind them.
Taualaga - A performance, importantly the last, to close off an event. Mainly done by a solo female performer. Some are allowed to have people in the back while they Aiuli, some just rather have a solo performance.
"WHAT?" he screams in the middle of class, causing everyone to glance at him.
It was supposed to be a surprise, really. But your ass accidentally slipped out the fact that you were going to perform a cultural dance on Multicultural Day that was coming in a few weeks.
He would definitely try to Aiuli when you dance.
No questions asked.
Although he doesn't know how to properly dance the traditional way, he'll look around and copy the actions of the other pupils.
You both are heavy on learning each other's culture, so when he forgets a certain thing, he goes to your cousins to ask for help
"Wait so- I can't ae-oo-lee in front of her?" Ao'nung poorly pronounces, a slight dark tint on his cheeks as he scratches the back of his neck.
"Never. Always stay behind her, or whoever is doing the solo," a boy says with his arms folded against his chest. "If you see people giving money during the dance, don't throw it at her while cheering. Be respectful and softly stick to her arms, they're gonna be covered with oil, anyway. If you can't do that, put it on the ground behind her.
"Right, right..." Ao'nung frantically jots down as the latter continues to speak.
On the day of your dance, he gets so confused when he sees people swarming around, especially in front of you. He will literally stand there like 🧍‍♀️???
But doesn't copy the others as he sees his friend from earlier who told him what not to do, cheering from behind. He smiles warmly before sticking noted bills onto your oiled arms. Kissing your cheek slyly before going back to his position.
"Alu ai gi ou kae."
Bro got slapped. Not too hard, but hard enough to know that he said something wrong.
"Ow! Baby, what was that for?" He holds his cheek, rubbing it softly. Slightly pouting while looking down at your shorter figure. Quite dramatically because you felt like all you did was tap his cheek.
"Why did you say that for?" You looked up at him with your nose scrunched.
"I asked Vika how to say "wanna kiss?" I asked him an hour ago so my pronunciation wasn't that horrible." He sulks. You roll your eyes before cupping his face, leaving kisses all over his cheeks, nose and forehead. "Yeah well, you just told me to go eat shit. Vika's Tongan, you idiot. He only knows the swear words."

Devin (voice-over): "I'm really nervous for tonight. It's the first elimination, and going into tonight, I honestly have no idea what I'm going to do yet. Some of the connections are stronger than others, but there are others that aren't where I want them to be at this point. So, there's a lot riding on this Cocktail Hour."

*the next shot opens with the contestants lined up in front of the show's host, Venessa Jeong, and Devin.*
Venessa: "Welcome to the first Cocktail Hour, everyone. The purpose of tonight's event is to have some time with Devin before the elimination later tonight."
Tumblr media
Venessa (continues): "Unlike other group events, Devin will be approaching you first. So, be patient. But, also make sure to use your time with her wisely because this will be the last chance you get to convince her why you should stay. Otherwise, enjoy. And I'll see you all at the Rose Ceremony."
*Venessa leaves and the group begins to mill about the space as Devin approaches the first contestant*
Tumblr media
Devin: "Hi, Albert. Do you want to go somewhere more private to talk?"
*Albert smiles at her nervously*
Albert: "Absolutely."
*Devin leads him to a secluded nook*
Devin: "So how are you? We haven't gotten to spend a lot of time together this week."
Tumblr media
*Albert nods solemnly*
Albert: "I know. It's my biggest regret right now. I wish I had made more of an effort during the group date. No excuses. I should have tried harder."
Tumblr media
Devin: "I appreciate that. Because we don't have a lot of time here together, so if you're serious about this, you're going to need to step up," *she looks up at him and smiles* "And I want you to. Because I feel like we have a good connection."
*Albert's expression remains serious, but he's fighting a smile*
Albert: "Absolutely. I want to be here. You're amazing and I definitely see something developing between us."
Tumblr media
*Albert then takes Devin's hands and looks into her eyes*
Albert (continues): "You have my word, I'm in this 100%. I will do better."
Devin: "Okay. Thank you. That's what I wanted to hear."
*Albert kisses her hands*
Albert: "I mean it."
Devin (teasingly): "You better."
*Albert laughs*
Albert: "I do. I want to walk away from this as your man."
Tumblr media
Albert, in diary room: "I really *bleep*ed up this week. I guess I rested on my laurels because our earlier connection was so strong and didn't push as hard as I should have this week. *Bleep*, I hope I didn't screw this up with Devin. Talk about an epic failure..."
Tumblr media
*the next shot opens with Devin approaching Stan*
Devin: "Hey cowboy. You want to get out of here?"
*Stan grins*
Stan: "I've never wanted to hear those words more in my life."
*as Devin is leading him away, she says:*
Devin: "Calm down. We're just going to have a chat."
*Stan chuckles*
Tumblr media
*once they're in the library, Devin says:*
Devin: "Stan, you've said it yourself that you know we don't have a lot of time to get to know each other. And because it's elimination night and I really like you, I need to completely honest here. I'm not sure if our connection is romantic at all or if we just make really great friends. Not to sound like a high-school girl, but do you even like me?"
*Stan rocks back on his heels and looks stunned for a moment*
Tumblr media
Stan: "Whew, what a surprise! I apologize, Devin, if I've done something that's made you feel that way. Truth be told, I'm crazy about you. I think maybe part of what you're pickin' up on is hard it is for me to be in here with all these other guys. It gets me in my head a bit."
Devin: "Wait. You're holding back because you're jealous?"
*Stan rubs the back of his neck*
Stan: "Well, in the plainest of terms, yessum."
*Devin takes a step closer*
Devin: "Do you want to stay? Even if it means being in here with them?"
Stan: "Yes. After our date last night, I realized I was going to fight until the bitter end because ending up with you would be worth all the blood, sweat, and tears."
Devin: "Well, I hope it doesn't come to that..."
Stan: "If it did, it would still be worth it."
Devin: "You really feel that way?"
*Now Stan takes a step closer"
Stan: "I do."
Devin: "Pinky swear?"
*Devin winks and holds out her pinky*
*Stan grins and links his pinky with hers*
Tumblr media
*he then pulls her against him and locks her in a sweet and tender kiss*
Tumblr media
Stan, in the diary room: "She thought I didn't like her? That one hurts me. Especially when I am crazy about her. She's an amazing woman and I'd be one lucky S.O.B. if she were to give me a chance after this. Getting to kiss her sure was nice, though. If I go out, at least it will be on one hell of a high note. I sure I hope I don't get sent home though."
Tumblr media
*after leaving Stan, Devin now approaches Houston, who grins as soon as he sees her*
Houston: "Good evening, beautiful."
*Devin returns his smile and blushes*
Devin: "Would you like to have our talk?"
Houston: "I would love to. Lead the way."
Tumblr media
*Devin takes Houston into her room. they stand in front of a roaring fireplace*
Houston: "Watcher, you look...breathtaking."
*Devin blushes again*
Devin: "You clean up pretty nice yourself."
*Smiles and glances down at the floor*
Houston: "Thank you."
Tumblr media
Devin: "So, I think I know the answer, but I'm going to ask anyway. Do you still want to be here, Houston?"
*His eyes burn into hers*
Houston: "Absolutely. Wild horses couldn't drag me away. I know what I want. And what I want is you."
Devin: "Oh..."
Tumblr media
*Houston now grabs her at her waist and pulls her against him and begins slowly kissing along her neck, making his way up to her ear where he whispers something the microphones can't pick up. Devin giggles in reply. they then share an intense moment of eye contact before he kisses her passionately.*
Tumblr media
Houston, in diary room: "I've never been so sure of anything in my life as I am about how I want to be with Devin. Every moment I spend with her feels right, and every second without her feels like agony. I don't think there's any reason for her to send me home tonight, but if she did, my world would be shattered."
Tumblr media
*the next shot opens with Devin walking over to Milo*
Devin: "Hi, Milo. Are you ready for our chat?"
*Milo looks visibly ill*
Milo (squeaks): "Yes."
*Devin leads him onto the front porch*
Tumblr media
Devin: "Milo. I want to be completely honest with you, okay? I do like you, and I do see some potential between us. You're a very sweet guy, which is rare, believe me. But, I do worry that we're in different places in our lives. And I know you're only a few years younger than me, but at times it does feel too young. Those are my main concerns. What are your thoughts?"
Tumblr media
*the camera cuts to Milo who looks paler than usual*
Milo: "I, uh," *swallows hard* "I guess I understand. I mean, I've made pretty poor choices in how I've approached you this whole competition. That's my fault. And I apologize for all of it. I guess my inexperience in the romance department is really showing, huh?"
*Devin smiles at him reassuringly*
Devin: "I've never been in a serious relationship, either. But, yes. Poor choices have been made and I'm afraid it's gotten in the way our connection. I feel like they've gotten you in your head and things aren't where I want them to be between us. But, do you want to be here, Milo?"
*Milo looked in her eyes pleadingly*
Milo: "More than anything."
*Devin nods, her expression contemplative*
Tumblr media
Devin: "Thank you for being honest with me."
Milo: "I will always be honest with you, Devin."
*He then takes her hand and kisses it.*
Tumblr media
Milo, in diary room: "This is bad. This is really, really bad. I might be going home tonight. And all because I'm a dumb*bleep* and made a bunch of stupid decisions. I don't want to go home. I'm not ready. I still have so much to prove to Devin. I hope she gives me another chance."
Tumblr media
*Devin finally approaches Handra who was beginning to look nervous*
Devin: "Last but certainly not least. You ready?"
*Handra greets her with a nervous smile*
Handra: "For you? Always."
Tumblr media
*the pair head out back and stand next to the pool*
Handra: "You look so beautiful tonight."
*Devin smiles up at him*
Devin: "Thank you. You also look really nice."
*Handra smiles*
Handra: "It's so good to get some time with you again. Even, under the circumstances."
Devin: "I think you and I both know you don't have anything to worry about."
*Handra looks genuinely relieved*
*Devin cocks an eyebrow*
Devin: "What? You seriously thought I was going to send you home?"
Handra: "I mean, not really, but that worry is always there."
Tumblr media
Devin: "Well, you do still want to be here?"
Handra: "1000%, with every fiber of my being!"
Devin: "Good. Then you don't have anything to worry about...this week."
*she then grins, and Handra can't help but do the same*
Handra: "I better stay on my A-game."
Devin: "Yeah, you better."
Tumblr media
*Handra and Devin then enter into an embrace and kiss*
Tumblr media
Handra, in diary room: "It feels so good to hear that I'm definitely getting a rose this week. I can't imagine going home after the date we had. I'm really starting to care about his woman. She's incredible. I'm not willing to walk away yet."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Devin, in diary room: "So far tonight has been one of the most difficult of this whole experience. I did get some clarity with some of the guys, but others, I feel like it just made things more confusing. I still don't know what I'm going to do. Watcher, what the hell am I going to do?"

I finally found time to finish it! Yay!!! 💀😭
Also please note that this is a high school au so characters would be aged up. No pedo behavior is welcomed! And forgive me if any mistakes were made, I tried to proofread as much as possible.
Anyways, hope you enjoy the second part!
In the Rain, We Meet Again- Part 2
Two weeks later, the second term is finally here. Back to procrastination and late nights of doing homework, You were reluctant to go but your mom insisted that "it was for your future" as they all do, you were however, excited to see your friends. They made your school life a bit more easier with the chaos they brought, you still thought about the boy you met in the rain the other day. How crazy would it be if you met him again! But that would never happen... right? Anyways, time was ticking and much more thinking would make you late for school. You quickly finished your breakfast and dashed out the door, yelling "Bye!" on your way out.
As you skipped along the way you bumped into someone, your bestfriend, Aoi. You both talked on and on about the short vacation you were given. "Oh, by the way, something interesting happened two weeks ago," you started off.
"Really? Well don't be shy, go on!!" Aoi certainly seemed interested in the tea that was about to spill.
"Well... it may or may not have something to do with a boy-"
Your speech was interrupted by her exclamation, "WHAT?! YOU? Y/N? WITH A BOY? I refuse to believe it." She knew how you were, most of the time you didn't pay any mind to boys around you but now here you were, bringing up one in the conversation. She had every right to be shocked.
"Well, if you'd let me finish you'd understand!" And so as you two walked to school, you told her about the encounter and how you both chatted and walked in the rain. "My.. and you waited until now to tell me?? WE BOTH HAVE PHONES Y'KNOW? THIS IS DELAYED INFO." Aoi was only joking but her sudden yelling made you jump, "I apologize, my dear best friend, please do not kill me..!" You both laughed at your response and entered the school gate, making your way to your classroom, it seemed like Nezuko and Kanao had already arrived earlier as they waved you over. "Guess what?" Aoi started, she obviously was not gonna gatekeep the tea that was spilled, Nezuko spoke up, "What is it? You don't normally look this excited so my guess is that this is good news..?"
You spoke up, "I walked in the rain with a good-looking boy, no biggie." Nezuko gave you a deathstare, "No biggie? NO BIGGIE?! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA OF WHAT YOU JUST SAID?!" You slowly nodded, "Y e s...?"
Just as the two were about to rant on, your teacher entered the classroom. You all scrambled to your seats, but as you sit down next to Aoi, you see a strange, familiar person enter after your teacher.
"I wonder who that is.." Aoi whispered to you. Just then another similar person entered, in fact the two looked like printed copies of each other, "I think I'm seeing doubles.." You whispered back. Aoi only nodded in silence as the four of you stare on. Even after they said their names, Muichiro and Yuichiro, you still couldn't tell the two apart, then it struck you, one out of two them was the boy who walked with you in the rain. "Aoi..." You started as she turned to you, "I think one of them walked in the rain with me.."  Her eyes widened, "WHA..?!" You had to cover her mouth so the entire class wouldn't be aware of your conversation.
"Yes, it was definitely one of them." You continued in a positive tone. "You lucky rat.." Aoi hissed, as you giggled at the comment, just as you were about to speak you saw the two print copies sit down behind you. It took every single muscle in you and Aoi's bodies to not turn around and stare at their beauty. Class soon finished and one of the two got up and left for break as the other sat there silently. You and Aoi got up to leave but he grabbed your hand, motioning he wanted to talk to you. Your friends watched on, giving you either teasing looks or a smirk but decided leave the two of you alone.
"You.." He started, "You look familiar.." You watched him and said with a laugh, "Don't you remember? We walked in the rain together!" He nodded, finally understanding. "I see..." You continued, "By the way, is that your twin brother? Also which one are you? Muichiro? Or Yuichiro?" He only shook his head and replied, "We're a twin if that wasn't obvious, and I'm Muichiro." You sighed, finally understanding now, "Ahh, okay! I'm Y/n!" You held your hand out to shake and he received it, "I didn't know you would move to this school! Is that why you were in town last week? Getting stuff?"
Muichiro only nodded. And for the rest of your questions, he either nodded or shook his head. Even though this was your first day back at school, you felt that this would be quite the interesting school term!

We've traveled the seas, we've ridden the stars...
Your fingers fidgeted with the small hairclip in your hand, its orange and yellow feathers serving as a temporary distraction to the argument occurring before you.
"She needs to be sent back!" Jake had argued to Norm as Max interjected his arms flailing as he gestured to the three monitors displaying different charts and results.
Norm sighed, "Look, even if I wanted to send her back, we can't! There's no telling what would happen if we do. Most likely she would be subject to cruel and inhumane experiments, and that's if the RDA doesn't get their hands on her first. If they did," he paused glancing over at you warily before continuing, "they could most definitely use her against us," he finished his hands shaking by his side.
Jake was conflicted; on the one hand, you could be innocent, and truly have no idea what was going on or have any attention of harming his family or the Omatikaya Clan, but on the other hand, you could already be a spy, like he had been at one point for the RDA. He groaned in frustration, and then it hit him.
You glanced over at the men when Jake cleared his throat, "She can stay," Norm sighed in relief but it was cut short as Jake continued, "She can stay, and she will learn the way of the Omatikaya Clan. However there are some ground rules," he listed them off but his voice was so faint you could barely hear.
Norm nodded, "Alright, that sounds fair, I'll let her know."
You flinched as Jake walked past you and Norm stopped in front of you, "So, you can stay!" he said his voice full of mock enthusiasm.
"And? What 'rules' do I need to follow?" you asked fixing the clip into your hair a small smile on your lips.
"Well, you won't be able to come back here for a while, of course. And of course, you'll be staying in the mountains with Jake," you barely listened overcome with excitement.
Finally, you'd be able to leave the lab. It had been almost six months since you'd been locked away. Although that hadn't stopped you from sneaking out every now and then to see the others when Norm and Max's noses were buried in research papers and the like. You just hadn't been able to go out during the day.
"Are you even listening?" Norm asks, breaking you out of your thoughts and you frown dramatically, "Of course I am! I heard all about how I'm going to the mountains and I can't come back. I'm just excited I finally get to see everyone again!"
"So you weren't listening, were you?" he asks.
"Um, okay. Maybe I zoned out just a little bit okay! But I heard all the important stuff!" you argued back crossing your arms in annoyance.
He sighs frustrated, "So you heard all about how you won't be staying anywhere near Jake's family right? You're forbidden from interacting with them at all," he said his voice serious as he crosses his arms.
"What? Why?" you ask sullenly your brows twisting in confusion.
"Because Jake doesn't trust you and neither does Neytiri. Think of it this way, you could be a potential threat, not that I'm saying you are one!" he says when feels your glare.
"Just, bear with it for now, okay?"
You murmur out a "Fine," but pause licking your lips, a question about your mother on the tip of your tongue, but you bite it back making your way back to your room as Norm calls out, "And remember, you leave in two weeks!"
You shut the door tightly and pull your communicator out of your pocket, and hear General Ardmore's calm and crisp voice, "Miss Augustine, how've you been? Your last report is overdue by three months, remember your contract?" she says smiling coldly, her voice frigid as she finishes speaking.
You clear your throat when she feigns a gasp, "Miss Augustine, have you noticed your eyes," her eyes scan you up and down, and you can see her hide a smirk.
Your eyebrow twitches, "There have been some, changes, General," you pause as she flips through a stack of papers.
She couldn't... know anything? Could she?
Your thoughts are interrupted as she speaks, " I bet you're wondering why I'm not surprised."
She fixes her hair before continuing, "I can't exactly tell you everything now, but I'll let you know this, the changes were intentional. And I expect your next report to be on time. Any questions?"
Yeah a lot actually, you think as you clear your throat, "Actually, for the next year, I'll be staying in the Halleluiah Mountains, with Jake Sully. So my report won't exactly be timely."
The icy smile returns to her lips, "Is that so? Well, I'll be waiting when you return, and remember," she says in a singsongy voice, "your contract."
And then the screen goes black, ending the call.
You took a deep breath as you peeked around the corner, Norm was busy typing up an email to some colleague back on Earth and Max was drawing a diagram from a chart his hands raking through his hair as he held his chin in thought.
This should be easy, you thought as you slowly crept to the door, your hand slowly opening it and shutting it behind you, the treeline greeting you. You quickly walked into the forest the bioluminescent plants mesmerizing you as you quickly reached your meeting point. You sat down on a log and listened to the noise of the plants and creatures surrounding you.
It had been six months since you first landed on Pandora, and not a moment went by when you didn't think of home, of the tall green trees and warm sun, or at least what was left of them, that greeted you every day and night. But the most recent thing on your mind was snow. Most of your fondest memories involved the snow, the cold flakes sticking in your hair, reaching out to catch one on your tongue, and you realized you would probably never see it again.
A twig snaps and you turn to see Neteyam standing in front of you a smile on his face as he sits down next to you, "What are you thinking about Sky girl?" he says his voice playful as he pulls you up to stand.
His hand lingers on yours before he pulls something out from behind him, another hairpiece. This one however is in the shape of a comb and has clear beads dangling down it, with a single blue feather attached. He gently fixes it in your hair and smiles, his hands lingering on your hair before he takes a step back, "So, I heard you're joining us in the mountains," he says his hand grasping yours.
You nod as he leads you down a path, your grip on his hand tightening as you hear another branch snap.
"I'm leaving in two weeks, I guess," you pause cleaning your throat before you add, "and your father has decided I can't step a foot near you, or Kiri, Tuk, and Lo'ak," you add quickly a blush creeping up your cheeks when you come to a stop nearly running into Neteyam's back.
He opens his mouth to speak, but a familiar cry interrupts him. You look up to see an Ikran standing before you, you stare at its green mottled skin as Neteyam reaches his hand out to you, you grab it and he gently helps you up, sitting behind you he makes Tsaheylu with his Ikran. You gasp as the flapping of wings greets your ears, and his grip on your waist tightens as the Ikran takes off.
You can feel your heart in your throat as you fly around and out of the trees and reach the sky, the stars twinkling down at you, and you feel tears brimming in your eyes.
Neteyam notices the shift in your mood as you attempt to discreetly wipe away the tears falling down your face and points up to the sky, "Are you thinking of home again? Do you think you could point it out from here?"
You frown, "No, I'm just, happy," you reply as you smile, "and besides I'd need a telescope for that, and even then, it'd probably still be too far away," you said as you pushed your hair out of your face.
He smiled down at you and tightened his grip on your waist as his Ikran dove down and then back up again, drawing laughter from you.
He wished the night would never end as he gazed down at you.
You feel dizzy when you land, and after what feels like hours of flying, you nearly fall on your face but Neteyam quickly catches you and helps you regain your balance.
Once you reached the lab you could feel your face warming with blush as Neteyam reluctantly let go of your hand. You froze for a second, debating on whether or not to move forward, but planted your lips on his cheek as he said goodnight, "Goodnight!" you shouted before rushing inside not giving him a chance to respond before you ran back to your room and collapsed against the door. And you could swear your heart was going to explode as you held your face in your hands.
Neteyam stood in front of the lab shocked as his hand touched his face where your lips had once been, a blush heating up his face as he turned and ran back to his Ikran. His heart beating so hard he thought it might beat out of his chest.
He couldn't stop smiling even into the next morning, and as he finished sharpening an arrow Lo'ak couldn't help but ask what had him in such a good mood, "What's got you in such a good mood bro?" he asked as he set down his knife.
Neteyam turned to him his face still red, "I-I umm, nothing," he stuttered out before he caught the look Lo'ak was giving him, he shook his head and went back to sharpening an arrow.
"Hey, you know I'm not that stupid, right? So," Lo'ak's brow furrowed as he asked, "do you like Sky girl?"
Neteyam laughed, "What? No," he said as he shook his head, "I don't like her like that, I can't!" he exclaimed as he threw the arrow across the floor and slumped back down on the log.
Lo'ak moved closer to him, "Why not?" he asked as he turned to him, his eyes looking him over before returning his gaze.
Neteyam stood up and grabbed his arrows, "Because she's from Earth, and she's," he mumbled trailing off.
"So?"
He frowned, "If you like her you should tell her," he paused to pick up his knife looking it over, "and it's pretty obvious, what with you sneaking out after eclipse all the time."
"What? I would never-"
Lo'ak laughed as he sharpened his knife, "I told you, way too obvious."
Neteyam looked up at him "What if she doesn't feel the same?"
Lo'ak opened his mouth to say something, but paused and looked into the trees, "I don't know, that's up to you to find out," he said turning to leave.
Neteyam sighed and shook his head, "I don't need to tell her, I'm pretty sure she already knows how I feel," he mumbled under his breath.
Your head throbbed as your pen tapped the paper, blue ink smudging on the white canvas. You twirled the pen in your hand, wondering how to start, maybe with, "Hey mom, how've things been back home? Is it getting any better?" but quickly scratched that when the images of Earth came flooding back. It was nothing like Pandora, the trees were thinking away, the sky was seemingly always a dull grey no matter where you went, and the sun was always a bleak and cold yellow that almost never made an appearance.
It was strange, when you first came here seven months ago, you were homesick for the dying planet, you even missed the noises of cars in the city at night. But what was killing you to know, was if the treatment had gone according to plan and if it hadn't yet if it ever would. You didn't like to think about it, but your mother had been on death's door when you'd left. The doctors had given her months to live, and yet the General assured you she would be fine, as long as you held up your end of the deal. Your 'contract', which was constantly held over your head, forced you to spy on your newfound friends.
You turned on your side as you glanced out the window, waiting for the sun to set.
You smiled as you entered the forest, you'd written so much you'd gotten sick of it and spent the rest of the day trying to convince Norm to let you go outside, but he wouldn’t relent.
“You leave in two weeks, and then you’ll have plenty of fresh air,” he’d said, staring into a microscope.
Your lips curled into a small smile as you saw Neteyam walking towards you and remembered the kiss, and how you'd left before he could say anything. You were still nervous that it would affect your friendship.
"Hey, is something wrong Sky girl?" he asks as he walks up to you, his eyes scanning your face as his eyebrows furrowed.
You stare up at him, "Uh, nothing," you mutter trying to think of something to say.
"You sure?" he asks as he moves closer, "your eyes are red, were you crying?"
You shake your head, "No, I just had a bad dream this morning, that's all," you say turning away from him.
He looks at you for a moment before he moves closer, "Were you thinking of Earth again?" he asks as he places his hand on your shoulder, his voice soft as you feel tears prick at your eyes.
You clear your throat and look up at him, the General’s words echoing through your ears, “Remember, your contract, collect as much info on Jake Sully and his family before we send in the recombinant soldiers, or the deal’s off.”
You choke back a sob and Neteyam pulls you into his chest. You wished you could tell him. How you were so desperate that you turned to the RDA, even though you knew how awful you were. But what choice did you have? Grace was dead, you didn’t even know your Father’s name, let alone if he was alive or not, and your mother was the only family you had left. And if she was gone, what would become of you?
You sobbed into Neteyam’s chest as he rubbed circles in your back.
“I’m sorry, for crying,” you said through the tears.
"It's okay," he reassured you as he wiped away your tears.
"I-" you paused, the words caught in your throat. You wanted to tell him everything, but when your eyes met you realized you couldn't. At least not yet.
Neteyam licked his lips when he realized how close you were, your noses almost touched, and your lips were a hair's breadth away.
He watched as your eyes fluttered closed, and you leaned in. He closed his eyes and tightened his grip on your waist as your lips met.
You shut your eyes, and wrapped your arms around his neck as you listened to his breaths, his heartbeats. You opened your eyes, and you could see his open too. He leaned in, gently grabbed your face, and pulled you into a deeper kiss.
When you pulled away, you stared into his eyes again. His hand cupped your cheek as he stared at you.
"I like you, Sky girl," he said resting his forehead against yours.
You smiled, "I like you too."
"I know you do," Neteyam said teasing you.
You sighed and playfully hit him on the arm, making him flinch as he leaned in once more.

I was tagged by the brilliant @tackytigerfic for a wip snip a month ago & then that month was lost in a haze of writing. I'm now nearing 50k, which is where I thought I would be done, and I am definitively not, so finally here's a lil wip snip. Tacky's incredible snips here and here. I've also loved following both @wolfpants (here) and @lettersbyelise snips (here). Cannot wait for all of these full fics and/or any more wip snips you all want to share—please consider yourselves officially tagged if you'd like (and anyone else who wants to share!)
cw: discussion of sex, totally unedited
“Alright!” Harry had enough of Malfoy’s stupid, gorgeous face, his grey eyes, his long, lean body. “Alright, just stop being an arsehole for one second. Please!”
The ‘please’ seemed to actually work. Malfoy shut his gob and looked at Harry, extremely peeved. When Harry didn’t continue, completely unsure about how to proceed, unsure about why he was about to propose this, Malfoy rolled his eyes. “Your time limit is up, Potter. Why are you staring at me like a scared Bowtruckle?”
“Er …” Harry blushed. Malfoy just raised an eyebrow. “I guess I’ve been thinking about what you said, earlier.”
“When earlier, Potter?” Malfoy snapped. “If you hadn’t noticed, we’ve been spending eight hours together every day for the last couple weeks and, before that, we have a whole ignominious history.”
“Earlier, as in when you proposed, er, ‘experimenting’?” Harry used his fingers to make air quotes around experimenting, and truly couldn’t feel any more awkward. “Together?”
Malfoy’s whole countenance changed. His body loosened up and he smirked, which looked unfairly sexy on his face, especially given how much Malfoy had tormented Harry with that smirk on his face for Harry’s entire life. He asked, smoothly, “Oh? Have you? What exactly have you been thinking?”
Harry’s face blazed red and he almost worried Malfoy was using Legilimency on him, given the dirty thoughts that were racing through Harry’s mind, all of his stupid fucking fantasies since Malfoy had proposed this original deal. How he had thought about Malfoy while he had his hand on his cock. How Harry was becoming a little hard already, just at Malfoy’s smirk.
Even if his face was bright red, he was not going to let Malfoy just walk all over him. Trying to play nonchalant, he shrugged back. “Just that it seemed like an alright idea. If, er, you were still interested.”
“Still interested?” Malfoy repeated back, incredulous. His eyes were focused right in on Harry’s eyes and high spots of color appeared on his cheekbones. He fumbled with his robes, not taking his eyes off Harry’s face, and pulled out an old-fashioned pocket watch like the wanker he was. He glanced down and said, all in a rush, “It’s 3:30 right now, Potter. I think we could reasonably take off early and no one would know.”
“What?” Harry blurted out. “You were thinking right now?”
Malfoy gave him a sly look from under his eyelashes, which were so pale that they were almost invisible, but Harry could tell how long they were and that was driving him mad. “Shall we make a date on our calendars instead, Potter?”
“No—o,” Harry drew out. He suddenly knew that, if he didn’t have Malfoy right now, if they scheduled some date in the future, he would be absolutely useless with wanting until then.

Love Thy Neighbor Episode 41 reaction
So I haven't talked about it here because it has been in hiatus, but Love Thy Neighbor is one of my absolute favorite yuri stories, and this week the official English translation of Season 2 began to release. With that being said, I am going to be posting week to week reactions as the chapters come out (Bloom Into You analysis series starts this Monday). These will be less craft analysis and more reacting to what is happening in the chapters and talking about where I think the season is headed
I am so glad that S2 is finally coming out, and I am excited to go on this journey. If you want to catch up, or read along, you can find this series on, well, the internet (DM me if you want to know where I read it, I won't say here). But, as always, please support the official release if you can. This series is pretty toxic on multiple fronts, and it is high in psychological drama, so read with caution.
With all that being said, lets start! Spoilers beneath the cut
so, lets say first and foremost that I DO NOT trust Jin Joo's husband. this asshole disappears for months, lets his wife be tormented by loan sharks and then what....everything is suddenly fine?
Tumblr media
especially since the loan sharks are still threatening Doyeon. they literally whispered to her "watch your back," but this guy fixed everything?
Tumblr media
I am absolutely convinced he still owes them money, without a doubt. I'm sort of wondering if his way out of debt was to sell his wife to them so they could take sell her organs on the black market or whatever (as they suggested to Doyeon when they were pretending to be the police), and then he found out Doyeon was in the picture and told them "take her instead."
meanwhile, the toxicity between Doyeon and Jin Joo continues to grow....
Tumblr media
(this are Doyeon's thoughts if that isn't clear)
so hours after Jin Joo makes Doyeon swear to God that she (Doyeon) belongs to her (Jin Joo) in a church, Doyeon is reflecting on the fact that she is so scared Jin Joo is going to abandon her that she is in a constant state of anxiety and also missing Jin Joo. I think we're building up to a spiral and it isn't going to be a happy one. This is of course made worse that the final panel seems to be implying that Doyeon's concern over Jin Joo burning her hand is suspicious to her husband
Tumblr media
all in all, things are not good.
But, where do we go from here? I think the real mystery is Jin Joo. I absolutely expect (as Doyeon herself thinks outright earlier in the chapter) that she has not only been expecting his return, but planning for it. I expect she is going to have a way for her and Jin Joo to see each other. The real question is: does Jin Joo even want that? In Season 1, it was shown over and over again that Jin Joo does not love Doyeon, and that she is doing this because she doesn't know what else to do. Not only that, but there has been several times where Jin Joo has realized/thought that her relationship with Doyeon may have been an instance of biting off more than she can chew, like the bathroom sex scene in the last season (which is also the relationship at its most toxic, as we found out later). I can definitely see Jin Joo trying to cut Doyeon out at this point. It would be incredibly in character, especially since Jin Joo thinks her marriage is all she has (and she doesn't seem to see Doyeon as a way to get out yet). And Doyeon, being head over heels in love but still reasonable, will try to respect this. The question is, will Jin Joo be able to stick to it? When and where will they run into each other again?
I could totally see Doyeon showing up at Jin Joo's church later because she can't stand not seeing her anymore. Or, they leave their apartments at the same time and have an awkward encounter maybe? both?
The idea that Doyeon could be a way out for Jin Joo, especially consider what Doyeon said in the church at the end of last season (we'll move, find a new place, I'll take care of you, etc.) is an interesting one, but I don't think thats what Jin Joo needs. Jin Joo needs freedom, the ability to be her own person and pay for herself, autonomy that she hasn't had in a long time, and, depending on how bad her parents were, maybe never had.
And Doyeon....I am not entirely sure what Doyeon needs. Someone to love her unconditionally, and not see her as a way to get in life, probably? we don't know what happened to her original parents, but it definitely seems like her adopted parents adopted her mainly for the social capital that comes with doing such a good deed.
Side note: I really love this shot of Doyeon
Tumblr media
all of last season, we were shown that Doyeon scratches at the back of her neck when she is stressed, and when Jin Joo went missing at the end of last season, she was doing so incessantly, like multiple times a chapter. Its just a nice detail that the damage she has done to her skin is there, just below her hair

A story about a girl wanting to find out the truth
A/n: chapter eight is here!
Warnings: mentions of death
Milly’s POV:
Soon after I went upstairs and took my medicine everything went back to normal, the only thing staying was the horrible pounding in my head which just didn’t seem to stop.
Reflecting on the situation I just went through, the feeling of complete emptiness and my heart racing like it has to win a competition, I watched myself in the mirror, while my face slowly gained more and more color. I relaxed a bit on my bed while enjoying the silence. It’s a weird thought, but the silence is something really important to me, it makes all of my sometimes drowning thoughts go quiet for a minute and it calms me down in a somehow gentle way. I sometimes need a bit time for me, just sitting or lying around the house eyes closed, 'listening' to the silence around me. Calum always respected this habit of mine, not saying anything about it. I really loved him for that.
However, right when my thoughts shut down and I felt the silence in me, my door was opened rather roughly and I frightened.
"Oh, sorry Milly. I didn’t wanna scare you like that." I looked over to the door, held open by Niall who seemed a bit embarrassed.
"No, don’t worry, it’s totally fine!" I said, even though I indeed was a bit sad that my safe space has been interrupted. But maybe this now gives me the chance to talk to my best friend about- you know what I mean.
Right when I wanted to ask him, if I could talk to him, he was quicker.
"Umm, Milly? If you'd be okay with that, I'd like to talk to you.” He suddenly said, much to my surprise, since I just wanted to ask the same question.
"No, I'm totally okay with that actually!"
I couldn’t seem to think about one single thing he wanted to talk to me about.
Or… Was my lie from earlier really that bad?
And also, even if it was, would I anyways have the guts tell him about my current situation? Would he get mad, like the other two did? Niall was at least as important as my sibling were to me, he knew me very well, but definitely doesn’t have the protective personality like Calum and Louis. So does that technically mean, it wouldn’t be too bad to talk to him? Would he be able to understand my feelings about googling their names?
I sighed and tried to convince my mind that 'There is only one single way to find out.' before looking back at Niall again, who now sat next to me on the giant bed in Calum’s and mine bedroom.
"I noticed some changes in your behavior towards Calum and me. I know, I haven’t seen you for a long time, but I just KNOW when something is going on in your mind. Just know, you can trust me with whatever is worrying you alright? I didn’t change in the last years I lived without you in my life."
Oh how much I missed his observing personality. He was right, he didn’t change, not a single bit. He probably never will, he'll always be my best friend, despite the fact that he decided to stop dyeing his hair, I loved blonde Niall. My Nialler. And it would be wrong of me to not tell him, somehow I knew he'll understand me. Even though my brain said 'No, don’t talk to him!' All my heart screamed was 'He'll help you!' I let my heart win. This one time.
"Milly, what happened to you in the last months? It seems like I don’t even know you anymore." Niall added, probably having no idea how much that sentence underlined my decision to trust my heart.
"You know, the last weeks have been hard…" I started, already feeling the big lump in my throat growing bigger and making tears shine in my eyes.
"I had the brilliant idea to go and find my biological parents. After so many years of hiding it away, I thought I was strong enough to do it, that I wouldn’t break down under the news." I explained with much sarcasm in my voice. Niall just sat there, silently looking at me, waiting for me to continue.
"But I never thought it would— it would bring so much trouble with it." Now I was crying - No, I was sobbing. "Louis doesn't talk to me anymore and thinks I'm a complete failure, Calum isn’t completely happy with my decision either, but plays it off like it is, being the perfect boyfriend that he is, and-" The sobs coming from my mouth made it hard for me to speak, especially because what I was gonna say next, is the hardest part about this conversation.
"I only got their names and an address to an empty house… I know I could just type their names into the Internet and see if there are any results, but I'm scared Niall, scared what I could possibly find out there." I hid my head in my hands, sobbing harder, not able to handle all of the emotions I was feeling right now.
"What’s the worst you expect to happen?" Niall asked, while putting his hands around my upper body.
"That they died. Like mum. Like Fizz. Everybody that means something to me, always leaves. You left too." I whispered more to myself than to him, but he heard it anyways.
"Listen Milly, you are the strongest person for even deciding to go down this path and search for them. But it’s okay to be scared. It’s okay to be scared of finding out they died. Especially because you and your siblings all carry the weight of death with you every single day. It doesn’t matter how hard you are trying to forget everything that happened to your family, you'll always miss them. And I know how much our friendship means to you, but just know that I'll never leave completely, okay? I'm thinking about you every single day wherever I go."
He let go of me and lifted my head up, so I looked right in his baby blue eyes.
"Maybe just ignore these haunting thoughts for a while an try to have some fun instead. Spend some time with Cal, the other boys and me!" I looked at him, rather unsure if I liked this idea.
"Oh, by the way. I don’t think Lou thinks you’re a failure, I bet he’s proud of his little sister, even though he doesn’t say it that often." Niall then added and got a little smile from me, but as soon as he let go of my chin, I looked down at the bed again. I heard him sighing but didn’t have enough energy to look up at him.
"Repeat after me: I am allowed to be scared." He said.
"I am allowed to be scared." I mumbled very silent.
"Come on, say if louder!" Niall tried motivating me.
"I am allowed to be scared." I said, this time with a bit more self-confidence. I did feel better, thanks to Niall.
"Alright, that was a good start! Now let’s go and plan a little hang out with Cal!" Niall said, standing up and walking towards the door.
Calum's POV:
"What about a show in Phoenix? Do we have a venue we could play there?" He asked his bandmate Micheal on the phone. Micheal called Calum to chat to him about the tour dates and how many shows they want to play.
"Yes, the manager already sent an email to a possible venue there." He sighed in relief. The Phoenix show was always his favorite to play. Apart from the amazing crowd there, it was just there where he and Milly got together. Who would’ve guessed they’d still be a couple 5 years later?
"By the way, is Milly thinking about attending shows? Have you talked to her about it?" Micheal asked, as if he just read his bandmate's mind.
Yes, Calum talked to Milly about it. She said, she definitely wants to.
But that was before Calum found out about the death.
Of course he hoped Milly would just stop searching because she doesn’t want to ruin more relationships, but deep down he knew no one could stop her from this. Not Louis, not Niall, not even Calum, as much as he wants to believe that.
So the real question was, if the time has come and Milly knows it, will she still be stable enough to attend Calums shows? Will he even be at the concert, or will he be here at home, comforting her? All he knew, was that he definitely won’t be the one telling her the terrible truth.
"Yes, I talked to her, she said she definitely won’t miss the shows… but I don’t know, maybe she will be busy…" Calum tried keeping the question out of the way.
"Ummm… Cal, we both know Milly won’t—" he stopped talking for a quick second. "Ohhhhhhh, how is the heritage thing doing?" Yeah, he really WAS horrible at lying. But what should he tell his friend now? He definitely trusted Micheal, he trusted him more than Niall. But if he’d tell another person, it was harder to keep it away from Milly.
With Niall, he was relatively sure, he wouldn’t say anything, he promised him. But telling two people? No, that felt wrong to him.
"You know, she’s struggling a bit, it’s not the best…" He again tried avoiding Mickey's question. It was better that way, he told himself. Safer for everyone.
It seemed like Micheal understood that Calum got quite uncomfortable during the conversation and ended the phone call with:
"See you in 4 days! Remember, I set up the Twitch stream, don’t come too late!" A few weeks ago, Micheal, a huge gaming fan since his childhood, decided to create a Twitch account to stream some games and talk to the fans. Now, he invited the boys over to talk there too.
If Calum was honest he didn’t really know how to feel about that, basically talking to a computer screen and millions of people could see him, he never really was a big fan of instagram and tiktok lives either. It creeped him out.
But it was for the fans. They loved seeing them and he loved them.
"Yeah, see you on Thursday!" Calum said and hang up the phone.
Right on time, Niall with Milly right behind him came down the stairs and sat down on the chairs around the dining table, Milly directly next to Calum.
"Let’s meet the boys!" Niall suddenly said, Milly nodding in agreement.
"Do y'all have heard of Twitch?" Calum responded, earning questioning looks from both of them making him laugh. He had exactly the same reaction back when Micheal told the band about his new channel.
"Okay, I'll explain it to you."

Big Bang Editing Story [Day 112]
I started writing this fic while editing my Big Bang story years ago, but am going to continue doing it for other things now that Kill Dear is out. I will write and publish 100 words of the story every time I finish doing whatever task I’m doing. If you’d like to block these proceedings, please feel free to block the tag ‘proofread stories.’ I will reblog this post with the parts of the story I do today. Edited chapters are linked; everything else I’ve done so far is under the cut.
My Master Post Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11 Part 12 Part 13 Part 14 Part 15 Part 16 Part 17 Part 18 Part 19 Part 20 Part 21 Part 22 Part 23 Part 24 Part 25 Part 26 Part 27 Part 28 Part 29 Part 30 Part 31 Part 32 Part 33 Part 34 Part 35 Part 36 Part 37 Part 38 Part 39 Part 40 Part 41 Part 42 Part 43 Part 44 Part 45 Part 46 Part 47 Part 48 Part 49 Part 50 Part 51 Part 52 Part 53
I don't have a lot of time on Mondays to work, so you'll probably only get 2 rounds of this. However, I'm trying to get back into the habit so...
Maybe you'll get some this evening, but no promises. I had a busy weekend and am tired lol. I might just go to sleep at 5 when I get home. XD
Chapter 54 (Patton)
“I still can’t believe he’s allowing this,” King Thomas said from next to Patton. The two of them were standing at the edge of the arena outside the horse stable, watching from a safe distance.
“If he hadn’t tried to bite me earlier, I’d think he was a different horse,” Patton agreed.
“He doesn’t even let Logan ride him,” the king said. “At least not ride him and give him directions.”
Patton was very aware of that. Logan did on occasion choose to get up onto Mr. Apples’ saddle. However, Mr. Apples was always the once who got to decide where they went after that. Logan had no say.
With that in mind, Patton, Logan, and every stable hand who’d heard about the prospective riding lessons had tried to convince Virgil to learn to ride on a different horse. Virgil was just as stubborn as Mr. Apples however and had insisted. Logan, being the only one who could be around Mr. Apples without risking being kicked, had become his de facto tutor.
Not even Logan could have expected that within a week, Virgil would be able to control Mr. Apples. Though perhaps ‘control’ was the wrong word. Nothing could control Mr. Apples, but for some reason, Mr. Apples seemed willing to do as Virgil asked.
Even right now Mr. Apples was trotting around the training arena like he was a well-trained trick horse warming up with his rider.
“Logan told him we could go on an actual ride today if the lesson went well,” Patton told the king. The lesson seemed to be just getting over because Logan said something to Virgil and Virgil started to climb off. Mr. Apples was patient and still as he dismounted.
“Do you think he’d mind if I went with you?” King Thomas asked.
Patton shrugged. “Mr. Apples might.”
“Mr. Apples definitely will,” the king replied. “I’ll come anyway.”
Logan had walked over to where Patton and the king were standing while Virgil fed Mr. Apples some apple pieces as a reward.
“I hear you’re going to go riding today,” King Thomas said.
Logan nodded. “Mr. Apples seems to listen to him well enough,” he said.
“I might join you if that’s alright. Where are you kids going?” the king asked.
“I was thinking the main forest path,” Logan replied. “It’s not a particularly difficult route, but it’s also a part of the castle grounds Virgil hasn’t been able to see yet. Loraine told me it has been recently cleared after the winter.”
“That sounds like a good idea,” the king said. “Are you going now?”
“Once Patton and I saddle up our horses,” Logan said. “You can come.”
“Great,” the king said with a smile. “I’ll ask for Bella’s saddle to be brought out. I haven’t gone on a ride yet this week.”
He turned then to walk towards the stables leaving Patton and Logan alone.
“Do you think he’s been acting weird?” Logan asked, turning towards Patton.
Patton frowned. “No,” he said. “Not really.”
“I’m just wondering why he wants to go horseback riding with us.”
“He likes spending time with you?” Patton guessed.
“Yes,” Logan said, “but typically in a setting that doesn’t involve Mr. Apples.”
Well, that was fair.
“I mean, it’s not too weird,” Patton said, thinking back through the last couple of days. King Thomas had been a bit… clingy.
“He’s been hanging around a lot,” Logan said, echoing Patton’s thoughts with narrowed eyes. He glanced back at Virgil. “You don’t think Virgil let something slip, do you?”
“He didn’t say anything,” Patton said. “I think your dad would say something if Virgil let slip he was an assassin somehow.”
“Unless he let slip something that didn’t quite implicate himself but invited suspicion.”
“Your dad doesn’t seem suspicious,” Patton said. At least, Patton didn’t think he did. He hadn’t been acting mean in any way. In fact, he might have even been acting nicer.
Logan frowned. “We should keep an eye on him, especially around Virgil.”
Patton bit his lip.
“What?” Logan asked.
“Are we ever going to tell your dad about Virgil?” he asked.
Logan hesitated. “I don’t…” he trailed. “I’m not sure.”
“It just feels weird lying for so long,” Patton said. Patton didn’t lie a lot. Sure, maybe he’d pretend to not know what Mama was talking about when sweets went missing from the kitchens or he’d pretend to not know what Logan’s birthday gift was, but he’d never lied about anything serious before now.
“I know, but,” Logan glanced back at Virgil once again, “even if we did decide to tell, we’d have to convince Virgil everything would be alright beforehand. I don’t think we’re at that point yet. He was terrified of Father until a few months ago, and he’s still cautious around him sometimes.”
Logan was right, of course. Virgil was getting more and more comfortable around the king, but he figured any of the progress made would go down the drain as soon as they brought up telling King Thomas about where exactly Virgil had come from. Patton didn’t know if Virgil would ever be comfortable enough.
“We should go get our own horses,” Logan suggested, and Patton nodded.
Patton and Logan’s horses had already been saddled by the stable hands in anticipation of their ride and it didn’t take long for the king to saddle his own horse, Bella.
The forest path at this time of year was very pretty, Patton thought. The tree branches now had small green leaves on them after having been barren for the entire winter and flowers were starting to grow. In a few weeks’ time it would be even prettier, but it would also be harder for the groundskeeper to maintain as well as it was right now.
Virgil really did seem less anxious around King Thomas now. The path was only wide enough for two horses to go at once, and he didn’t seem to mind that he and the king ended up next to each other while Patton and Logan lagged behind. In fact, he and the king seemed to be having a nice conversation about the local wildlife.
However, if Patton looked close enough, he did sort of see what Logan meant. Virgil may not be anxious talking to the king now, but the king himself seemed just a little bit nervous at least at the beginning of the ride.
He seemed to relax a bit as they rode (even laughing when Mr. Apples tried to bite him when he got too close).
Logan had been teaching Virgil the basics about things like animals, but there was still a pretty big gap in his education when it came to anything that wasn’t about training to fight and kill. King Thomas seemed more than willing to answer any of his questions when it came to the animals and plants around them even if they were sometimes a bit silly.
He’d seen a bird that looked like a dove. (It may have even been a dove, but Patton hadn’t seen it.) This had been a source of endless confusion for him.
“But shouldn’t it live in the dovecote?” Virgil asked.
“Not all birds live in a dovecote,” the king explained again.
“But it’s a dove,” Virgil said with a frown.
“Not all doves live in a dovecote,” the king replied.
“But it’s a dovecote,” Virgil argued. “It’s for the doves.”
“Yes, but there are also wild doves,” the king said.
“That doesn’t make any sense,” Virgil replied.
“What about it doesn’t make sense?” the king asked with a laugh in his tone.
“Doves go in the dovecote,” Virgil said.
Patton was starting to have trouble following this argument.
“Dovecotes are made for doves,” the king said, “but not all doves go in dovecotes.”
“Why?”
This seemed to stump the king momentarily, but he still answered after thinking for a bit. “Doves existed before people got to them,” the king explained. “People caught and trained some of them, but there was no way to catch all of them. So, some stayed in the wild and continued with their lives like they had been before humans. Plus, sometimes domesticated doves fly off and never come back. Sometimes they might die, but other times they may have just gotten lost and had to build a new life somewhere far away. Or maybe they even decided that being a trained dove working for humans wasn’t for them, so they decided to go off on their own.”
“You let them do that?” Virgil asked.
“We can’t really stop them in the end,” the king said. “People can try, but it never ends up working as long as they can fly.”
Virgil thought about this. “I still don’t understand,” he said, “but okay.”
“We should take you to the cliffs,” the king suggested.
“What are the cliffs?”
“The castle grounds were built for defense,” King Thomas explained. “The edge of the grounds to the North is a large river and overlooking it is a huge cliff. It’s a good place for picnics and for birdwatching. It’s a bit of a trip, but now would be a good time of year to go.”
He glanced over his shoulder back at Logan and Patton. “What do you boys think about going to the cliffs sometime? Maybe in about a week?”
Logan squinted at his father suspiciously. It wasn’t so much the fact that the king was asking them to go to the cliffs. They did that every so often. However, this time, it only supported Logan’s claims that the king was hanging out with them a lot recently.
“Sure,” Logan said, after a moment.
“Sounds fun!” Patton said cheerily right after, trying to cover for the lack of enthusiasm in Logan’s voice with his own. Judging by King Thomas’s expression and Logan’s tight-lipped scowl, he may have overcompensated.
“Great,” the king said. “”I’ll make sure to make arrangements when we get back to the castle.”
Chapter 55 (Logan)
Virgil was beginning to be able to read some of the common instructions in magic books, but Logan still made sure to read out the instructions to him at least twice before setting him loose. He’d started to jot down notes to himself about things, though these notes were not words, but various symbols that only made sense to the boy himself.
Logan had asked about their meaning at one point and received an answer that, while earnest, was unintelligible. The symbols were mostly just pictures of things to represent certain steps in spell casting, but they were filtered through Virgil’s rudimentary penmanship and often bizarre perception of the world.
Though, despite the fact that Logan could not often decipher his chicken scratch, it did seem to help him produce impressively quality charms even as Logan began to introduce more complicated processes to make them. He was a very good student even if he didn’t have the best foundation for learning.
“I add lavender for the next step, right?” Virgil asked, his finger on a word in Logan’s magic book.
“That is correct,” Logan confirmed.
Virgil looked back at the book and mouthed the word ‘lavender’ to himself before turning back to his potion. He grabbed a few sprigs of lavender and threw them into the cauldron.
The liquid popped and bubbled violently, but Virgil didn’t flinch as he once would have, prepared for it now.
After the lavender, Logan knew that it would have to simmer for 5 minutes. Virgil looked down at the boiling liquid, contemplating it for a long moment.
“Can I soak a knife in it?” he asked.
“What?” Logan asked.
“Can I soak a knife in the potion once it’s done?”
“In that potion?” Logan clarified. “In the emergency hand warmer potion?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“I think a hot knife would be useful,” Virgil said.
“For what?”
Virgil shrugged. “Cooking food on the road,” he said, “burning wood, stabbing someone and immediately cauterizing the wound.”
“That is… not a standard use for this potion,” Logan said.
Virgil titled his head at him. “Would it work though?”
“Well, I don’t know,” Logan contemplated. “Perhaps. The potion can cause burns if one uses too much of it or if it is used without an appropriate layer between it and the skin. If one were to pick a knife with enough surface area and let it soak long enough, it could in theory get hot enough to do as desired. Hmm…” he thought about it. “There would perhaps be the problem of the potion not sticking to the knife very long as it is intended to soak into fabric. However, cardamom could solve that issue as long as it doesn’t interact with any other ingredients. Let me see that spell.”
Virgil stepped out of his way so he could study the page. “Yes,” Logan said after scanning through all of the ingredients. “I think coriander would work for something like that. Let me go find some.”
He turned to walk towards where he kept his supplies of potion ingredients. Virgil followed on his heals.
“Can we use a serrated knife?”
“Oh, that’s a good idea, Virgil,” Logan said, nodding as he searched through the cupboard that should hold the coriander. “The knife being serrated would help keep the potion stuck to the blade after many uses and would increase the surface area.”
“That was certainly my intentions,” Virgil said smoothly. There was something odd about the tone that had Logan turning to him and blinking at him. Virgil just smiled at him innocently and Logan turned back to the cabinet finally locating the coriander.
“So how are we going to use that?” Virgil asked.
“We’ll put it in right before the last step and let it sit for about 3 minutes,” Logan said. “If it doesn’t quite work, we may need to make another batch. There are options other than coriander, but that’s the first idea that comes to mind and it a lot simpler if it works.”
He continued to speak of the many other options they could try as they returned to the caldron as well as how they could test the hot knife. It was already about time for the next step and Virgil did it without interrupting Logan’s rant.
Virgil listened to his suggestions with interest all while still making sure the potion he was making was progressing well.
Logan did eventually take over to finish the potion with the revised steps he’d come up with and they ended up with a potion that looked perfect except it was a few shades darker than the one they’d originally been planning to make.
“Well, it looks good,” Logan declared. “We will need to acquire a knife to test its effectiveness, however.”
“There are a few good ones in the kitchen,” Virgil pointed out. “I especially like the one 10 inch one with the black and white handle.”
“You have been eyeing up the kitchen knives?” Logan asked.
Virgil rolled his eyes as though that was not a perfectly reasonable question to ask him. “We should steal that one,” Virgil said.
“Do you think we’ll be able to sneak past Ms. Heart to steal a knife from her kitchen?” Logan asked.
“We can’t,” Virgil said.
Logan almost didn’t believe him… and then he remembered the water pouch incident. “It’s the dinner rush,” Logan said. “We should probably wait for a bit.”
Virgil was shaking his head. “The dinner rush is the best time,” he said. “Everyone will be distracted, and all of the knives will be out and in prime stealing position.”
“And if Patton’s mother catches us messing around in her kitchen during her busiest time of day, she will have Father ground us for a week.”
“Then we just won’t get caught,” Virgil said.
“I’m not sure if it’s that simple,” Logan said with a frown.
“You can stay here if you want,” Virgil offered. “I’ll just go by myself.”
“No, I’ll come too,” Logan relented, though he did still have some reservations about the idea.
He let Virgil lead him towards the main dining hall. By now, Virgil knew the kitchens and dining hall very well.
“Stay here,” he said. They were in a hallway a few feet down from the staff entrance to the kitchen. “I’m going to do some reconnaissance.”
“What type of reconnaissance?” Logan asked, but Virgil had already disappeared before his very eyes. With a blink, Logan looked up and saw a dark figure disappear onto a balcony overhead.

been another busy week so i've had less time to read than normal but sometimes that's just how it is 🤷‍♀️
finished skulduggery pleasant playing with fire and enjoyed it, of course. love whenever things that are going to be important later (which is more than i thought, actually) get casually dropped and i'm like a-ha! also have to give a shoutout to rupert degas' version of billy ray sanguine, was fucking fantastic. it hit all the right beats, definitely the way to experience the character.
the faceless ones (book three) isn't available until at least next week, so i tried a non-fiction book on magic but couldn't stand the person reading it so moved on to the girls are never gone by sarah glenn marsh. it's a YA horror about a girl who's started a ghost hunting podcast and goes up to investigate an old house in the middle of renovation and the mysterious drowning of a teenager 30 years earlier. there's also a wlw romance. it's okay so far, the insta-crush at the start was pretty egregious but other than that it's basically what i was expecting (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). the main character also has type-1 diabetes and how she handles it comes up fairly often, which is nice to see, and the love interest is of puerto rican descent.
the traitor baru cormorant continues (i'm honestly not that much further on from where i was. like i said, busy week) and i really do need to stress a content warning i sort of breezed over last time: there is on-page frequent homophobia, depictions of conversion therapy, and grappling with the direct impacts of colonialism. it's unpleasant (but well-written). bear that in mind before going in. on a lighter note it's also a book where you have to be paying attention, so maybe reading it in a way that's less spaced out than what i've been doing would be a better idea 😅
there's gonna be no new manga for a while (ace attorney investigations 2 has all of my attention rn) but! i ordered some books last week and they came the other day, so i now have (most of) jujutsu kaisen (v excited to get round to that) and the bonus mushishi story, which looks beautiful and i can't wait to read it. the picture isn't quite doing it justice
Tumblr media
that's it for this week! things are back to normal next week, so hopefully i can get some more reading done!

Multiverse of Madness: Spoilerific Review Ahoy!
It's all going under the cut! Everything! All the thoughts about everything in this film! It's very long.
So I'm going to likely see it again on Saturday so my thoughts may change between now and then. I'll just reblog and add more thoughts if they do, as part of my brain throughout the first thirty minutes was just processing the fact that OMG I'm watching a Doctor Strange film again after so many years!
A video on YouTube that someone on Discord posted, by ComicBookCast2, said it perfectly: this movie is a stepping stone, an Iron Man 2, an Age of Ultron, a movie that has to exist in order to expand the greater universe. Those two movies are usually panned as not being some of the greatest, but I'd say of the three there, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is definitely the strongest stepping stone movie we have. And I understand why Feige would want to use Doctor Strange as a character to open up this immense concept. Considering the importance of Iron Man and the Avengers in the overall MCU, that speaks to good things regarding Doctor Strange's future (especially as Benedict seems to continue to want to play him).
I'll start with all the side characters first:
America: I really liked America's arc in this film, how she basically started as not knowing how to control her powers to being forced to take control to save herself, and then getting a pep talk from the Best Strange to show Wanda what she was actually doing. That was a powerful climax, and a hugely emotional climax for the character. And in Kamar-Taj in the MCU, I think she has the capability to grow into the powerful comic book character that she is, and gain all the skills that she has as a young adult when we first meet her in the comics.
Christine: One of the first rumors I read about this film that completely bummed the hell out of me was that Christine was going to die on her wedding day, presumably from the creature that the toy companies call "Gargantos" but that really looks like a "Shuma-Gorath" but dies as easily as your Monster of the Week. As this didn't happen, I was bloody thrilled. I have no idea if that scene was actually filmed or not. I wasn't expecting to like her multiversal version as much as I did, though that she was also betrayed by her Stephen was definitely something else. It put Stephen in the same position as he was with his Christine, in a way. It made their last scene together all the more precious, I think.
Wong (and Kamar-Taj): I loved seeing Sorcerer Supreme Wong really lead the defense of the entire society, and I couldn't blame him breaking under pressure by seeing people he knew and cared for being tortured like that. In terms of who was Sorcerer Supreme, I think Wong really worked having the title here, because it let Stephen's job open to protect America (and explore the multiverse) as opposed to needing to stay with the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj to regroup once it fell.
It was also very enjoyable to see Wong's own badass moments, though I don't blame him at all for falling to Darkhold!Wanda. We got a good look at just how OP the Darkhold made someone who already had huge amounts of power. RIP Sara though, existing for just a couple lines only to burn to a crisp. Just like the London Master, Sol Rama, in the first DS film xD
I enjoyed the cameos by Hamir and Rintrah and I hope they survived the attack. It was also great to see the London and Hong Kong Sanctum masters. The little bowing joke was fun, as was that little payoff at the end!
Mordo: One of the earlier spoilers I read from this film was that Wanda killed our Mordo, and I was really happy to see that if it was filmed, it didn't make the cut, because our Mordo has the history with Strange that's important. I was totally tricked with Mordo. Like, I knew that he looked like the one that was sword-fighting him in the trailer, but then he was so nice and all and I figured "oh, this must be a different universe", and I honestly thought that the Illuminati universe was going to be another one.
Then nope! Here's Mordo and the Illuminati. His hand-to-hand fight with Stephen was just *amazing*. I didn't get Stephen's comments to him though, about him always hating him. That was part of the comic lore, but I definitely didn't get that feeling in the first DS film. It feels like something that happened behind the scenes between DS1 and IW, maybe things Mordo said to Wong, or if Mordo left behind writings--or something. Definitely seems like it's something untold that someone should write a fanfic for. Was very happy overall with his character though, even if I didn't get our Stephen's comments in the context of the MCU.
Loved Stephen's reaction to his first name lmao. Also found it very interesting that he called himself Baron here! I wonder if that will be the same case for our Mordo?
The Rest of the Illuminati: I'm glad they were just cameos and that they were the only cameos serving basically as obstacles for Wanda. I'm really glad. The only other cameo I'd have been fine with is Deadpool, and that's just because Deadpool's super amazing. I don't think it'd fit with the tone of the rest of the film though, so it makes sense he wasn't in it, despite rumors. Illuminati!Strange definitely fit with this gang, being about "end justifies the means", and them making the "hard decisions" that don't necessarily mean good ones. Illuminati!Strange in the comics, too, destroyed an entire Earth, though that was a "kill or be killed" type of situation the Illuminati dealt with in the comics. I like that this variant of superheroes exist, all with people who've made insane decisions somewhere in the comics or the MCU as part of it.
Black Bolt's death is one of the most gnarly deaths on screen ever, and you won't change my mind. That was insane.
Wanda: I don't remember where I said it--probably in a Discord chat--but I basically said that if the trailer of her attacking Kamar-Taj killed innocent people, that they really could not redeem this version of her as a hero in the MCU. And because she was so brutal and corrupted, because she hurt so many people, her destroying the Darkhold and (potentially?) dying was probably the best end that they could have given her.
I think I would have preferred a plot where she fought against the Darkhold's power earlier on, that someone had caught up with her earlier and that this movie was a path of redemption for her. But since they didn't go that route, I think the original MCU!Wanda staying supposedly dead is probably the cleanest exit they can give her because she at least realized the monster she had turned into and kept it so that others would not fall to the same fate ever again across the Multiverse. It gives her tragic fall a noble ending.
I do find it interesting that the Scarlet Witch is singular in the Multiverse (IIRC), but that Wanda Maximoff is not (as we saw). I'm not sure if they'll have people travelling across universes into the MCU to take the place of the dead characters we have if the actors still want to portray them, but that may be what we see with Wanda, especially since White Vision still exists out there.
I was very happy to see an non-corrupted Wanda too. I think it showed a great contrast of who Wanda was before the Darkhold (combined with her grief) corrupted her. My brother, who apparently really liked WandaVision (and went to see the film with me), said he really didn't like corrupted Wanda himself, and I wonder how many people were looking for redemption arcs in this film after that show, or how many were looking for Wanda to embrace the evil of the Darkhold.
Stephen: The one and only--only, not the one and only. I could see one of the re-shot parts immediately within the first few minutes with Defender!Stephen repeating nearly word-for-word what Stephen told Peter in NWH. And, honestly? Fucking brilliant. I was shocked he would be like that, but at the same time, he's had to make the hard calls before--especially in the name of keeping control. So seeing Defender!Strange look at America as, ultimately, a threat? Yeah, I see it.
But in having all other three Stranges--Defender, Sinister, and Illuminati Stephen--make the decision to sacrifice others for their own need for control was a great way to juxtapose how different our Stephen is. There was some loss of control with using the Time Stone, out of necessity as he saw no other way. But he continues to learn that he cannot control everything in NWH and even moreso in MoM, until we get to the finale where he goes against Wong's order and uses what he's observed, his cleverness, to tell America what no one else has told her. And his wisdom leads to the end of the conflict.
It wasn't an ending I was expecting, to say the least--but damn, it's satisfying that both the ending of DS1 and DS2 were not Stephen beating an enemy by hitting magic at it, but by using his head. Magic was still used (the Time Stone and the Darkhold, respectively), but the solution would not have come if Stephen wasn't clever about his creative thinking. And that's one reason he's so unique as a superhero--and more unique than his counterparts, who simply go for control and power.
So many other Stephen details and plot points I liked:
I'm glad we got clarification of Stephen's status amongst the normal people now. I feel like this happened after Infinity War in particular, when the Avengers had to tell people what happened and he started getting known. Then after Endgame it got really known.
The film seemed to clarify that Stephen was never Sorcerer Supreme because he never learned about the Book of Vishanti being real. That was a very, very appeasing fact to me. Yes, I love being right.
I loved that dreams were glimpses of alternate realities, because I have written this concept in fanfic (the Sherlock/Strange crossover). IMO it's not all dreams though, and I think some people are more likely to have these types of dreams than others.
I love that incursions (convergences in the comics) are a thing. I also love this because I have an unpublished fanfic that is leading up to this, so now I gotta really get working on that so I can publish it already.
I adored what little we got of Sinister Strange and could easily have an entire film about our Stephen and Sinister Stephen just outwitting each other in this epic adventure. Like, replace Wanda with Sinister Strange and there's a new favorite film xD But I get why they didn't do that lol. Still, it was great to get a glimpse of this unhinged, corrupted character. He's not the tragic, fallen hero of What If?; he's simply unhinged.
I'm still torn on the musical fight scene. My logic brain that has written thousands upon thousands of words of meta on magic and its inner workings went "this make no sense" but my visual brain went "omg look that's so cool and pretty!" So what I'll likely end up doing is writing that scene in fanfic with so much technical magic explanation that people won't know what to do with it. But that's not happening until the film's out on streaming so I can watch it over and over and over again. (And I get other pieces done first).
All the shots we have now of Stephen in everyday wear and formal wear makes me so so so happy. So happy.
So the film wasn't about Stephen- it was definitely more a film about watching things unravel from Stephen's POV. But I'm glad we got to know more of his character (DONNA FINALLY GOT A MENTION), and that he had a solid character arc and definitely an impact on the climax and ending. And that it wasn't a cameo-stuffed CGI monster battle. I'm happy it wasn't- I was worrying about that.
I don't know about how I feel with Stephen getting a literal third eye. I always saw it as something a lot more metaphorical, personally. But hey, it led to a verrryyy interesting ending hinting at a lot more Doctor Strange and, of course, a quick cameo by Clea! I am very glad Clea is not being played by Rachel McAdams. I would have liked an Asian actress but I figured that'd be a long shot.
Things I would have liked to see:
I think I would have still enjoyed Superior Iron Man. So long as he wasn't played by Tom Cruise. And knowing that he would die in the end lmao. But I get why they went with Reed Richards instead, new era of Marvel and all.
There was a rumor that one of the credit scenes was going to be RDJ coming back as a cameo as Iron Man and apologizing for having him die, and that Stephen would have been able to make a similar apology. A pipe dream, alas; I don't think RDJ's coming back for any cameos.
WHY THE FUCK WASN'T THE EYE OF AGAMOTTO EXPLAINED? WHAT THE HELL MARVEL? WHY DOES IT SUDDENLY WORK AS IT DOES AND DID YOU FORGET THAT THANOS CRUSHED IT IN INFINITY WAR?
Seriously, I'm still annoyed by this. I have to fix everything myself, I swear.
I think it could have been 15-20 minutes longer with some more downtime between the action, with more scenes between Stephen/Wong and Stephen/America, or Stephen/Stephen. The talk between the two Stephens was freaking amazing.
Uh yeah, actually, not a lot of complaints. I think the biggest one would have been a preference with Wanda not as the villain, but that would be an entire rewrite of the story and it's not that much of a deal-breaker to me since she got her alternate version as well as something of a way to make herself not terrible at the end.
When it comes to a rating, I think I'll need to sit on it a bit more. I think NWH still packed more of an emotional punch for me, but I still definitely enjoyed MoM. Maybe an 8? 8.5? I'll see it again on Saturday, I think, so we'll see how I feel then.

No I wasn't the other anons, but I could be! I mean YES sincaraz exho, but it s not confirmed, from what I gathered...
Anyway, oh if I could write decently I'd give it a tryabut I can't, English is not even my language. But maybe someone will pick the ideas!
Oh and now that you said Luca and Jannik are actualy meant to practice together that opens so many new possibilities!
"your man is really going tough on me, you're sure everything is OK?"
"yeah, yeah... It's probably because he wants to push you, take it as a compliment."
"he gives the the *glare* though..."
"mayyyyybe he's still a bit worked up but it'll pass, I promise. I hope so!"
"you hope so?!"
Also loved the idea that carlitos went ahead of himself and told Luca before speaking with Jannik hahaha ha he really seems like the person who acts first and thinks later.
"baby I promise he won't tell anyone! I mean, he never spoke about myself and he was the first to know."
"you just had to bring that up didn't you?"
"sorry"
All in good spirits I would think.
"I only want you. Always."

Here I am again!! I'll answer both of them in one go, because at this point it's probably simpler this way ahsnsksj
The jealousy theme seems to be a continuing theme in Carlitos' life and our conversations, and I have a couple of things to add on that (under the cut because this is probably gonna get long ajshsksj)👀
I'll start off by saying that THIS DIALOGUE TOO IS SO ON POINT. "You just had to bring that uo didn't you" - "sorry" ASJSKSSK i definitely can picture them!! Obviously all in good spirits, Jannik would never get mad at Carlitos for something like this and even if he did, Carlitos has a couple of powerful aces up his sleeve that can get him forgiven ajjsksksk
AND I READ THAT FIC (shocking, I know) and I LOVED IT (even more shocking, I know). When I read it I was wondering if Jannik would actually be up for a ploy like that, because he didn't really strike me as the type, but the more time passes the more convinced I get that Jannik is not as angelic as we think lmao AND that he can be a very jealous person (I know that I sound boring but I'll die on this hill), so a reverse version of that fic with Carlitos being the one to make Jannik jealous would work!! And Luchino, with all the history and the ifs and maybes, means added drama, so... why not?
BUT THIS GETS ME TO THE INTERESTING (I hope) PART OF MY ANSWER, which is what is going on in Alicante (or well, what was going on there in the past week). So some days ago I found an interesting article in an italian newspaper about Jannik's training in Alicante that featured a small interview to Francesco Passaro (another young italian player who was there to train with Jannik and that you've probably seen on Jannik's Insta a couple of days ago) and to OUR DEAR LUCHINO. This article offered me two important pieces of information:
Luchino left Alicante earlier than planned because he twisted his ankle and decided to come back to his hometown in Italy, so that's why we never had any content about him and we didn't see him training with Jannik (which is such a shame for so many reasons!!). Well it's not breaking news at this point, because - again- I'm so late, but at the time it was since no content about him in Alicante was coming up lol
Luca said (and here I quote):"Jannik and I have always got along, we are friends. Nowadays, since we speak the same language and I have spent some time with him, I feel closer to him than to Carlos Alcaraz".
SO!! WE HAVE UPDATES!! WE HAVE LUCA SAYING THAT HE AND JANNIK ARE FRIENDS!! THAT HE PREFERS JANNIK OVER CARLITOS NOW!! This is gold. This interview is more than I hoped for when I wrote that post about Luca and Carlitos that started all of this. But at the same time it kinda destroys all of our theories aksjsksjs From how I see it, there are two possible scenarios here:
It's the truth, so the ship (relationship or friendship, you decide) between Carlitos or Luca has kind of sunk, so Luca is definitely not harboring feelings for Carlitos anymore. BUT at this point I could already imagine a scenario where Luca doesn't get injured, stays in Alicante and Jannik, after finding out that Carlitos and his childhood friend have drifted apart, try to get them to talk again (not jealousy involved this time, he just tries to do something nice for his new friend and his bf)
Luca is kind of lying, things are worse than we expected and he is still hopelessly in love with Carlitos, so he said that to make Carlitos jealous (or in general he said it "bitterly" - not in a bad/malicious way tho, because I absolutely can't think of my baby boy trying to make Jannik and Carlitos break up, but that would definitely spicy things up aksjksks).
You know, the possibilities we have here are endless. AND TO MAKE IT EVEN MORE INTERESTING (and it's the last thing I'm gonna say here because this is getting long) there is a video that I'd like to point out to you. You've probably already have seen this, but it's Carlitos celebrating the winning goal of the annual JFC academy football match with Flavio Cobolli, yet another italian player (he played Luca in the Next Gen Finals and lost btw lol), the actual italian player Carlitos trained with this week (aside from Jannik of course). Soooo Carlitos jumping into his arms during the match? The same match that Jannik didn't partecipate in (but he could have, if he had wanted to)? THIS could get interesting too. This calls for other theories. This calls for Carlitos and Jannik making each other jealous with the help of Flavio and Luca without realising the other is doing the same thing (a scheme that might lead to Flavio and Luca falling in love with each other too? This is a complete random crackship I've just come up with, BUT WHY NOT?). This calls for Jannik pining so hard and bugging Luca about it. This opens the door to so many possibilities I won't list here because my head is starting to spin, but!!

Of Milk and Cookies Chapter 18
I'll be honest... It's been years since my last update. Life happened and a lot of my writing took a hit as a result. This story was never truly abandoned, just put aside for awhile, as much as I love this story. Anyway, I am so happy to finally have another chapter ready to share with the world. Hope you all enjoy!
"You have no idea how good it is to eat real food again," Nya declared through a mouthful of pizza. She was finally home after several days of being stuck in her hospital room. The doctors had been concerned about potential infections and had a hard time believing she would stay put if they released her sooner. It had taken a wide array of medical tests (and a lot of begging) to convince them to let her leave. Nya would have danced with glee if not for her stitches. Instead, she settled for a celebratory dinner from her favorite pizza place.
"I can only imagine," Lloyd commented. His own diet lately had been an odd mixture of fast food and local delicacies (some of which were…. Unique for lack of better words) depending on his location throughout the victory tour. He had politely declined her not so subtle attempts to get rid of her bowls of jello and mystery goop by getting someone else to eat them during more than one visit.
"I'm just glad you're okay, Nya," Jay told her, reaching for a slice of pepperoni. He had been extra protective of her since their mad dash to the hospital a few days earlier. Nya wasn't sure if she found it adorable or annoying.
"Yeah, don't scare us like that again." Kai added, earning him a vicious elbow jab from his sister. Nya ignored his yelp of pain.
"I'm fine, guys, really."
"If you're fine, I guess we should put back all the booby traps we found in your room, huh?" Cole offered teasingly. Several of the students of Wu's Academy had chosen to express their excitement at Nya's return by leaving little… surprises in her room.
"Nope. Definitely don't do that," Nya relented. She didn't have the energy to deal with frogs in her bed or whatever else the kids had come up with. "How did Sally and Megan even get in there?" Whoever else may have been involved, those two were almost always the ringleaders when it came to annoying Nya.
"It wouldn't surprise me if Brad taught them to pick locks," Lloyd offered with a shrug. As much as his friend had changed, Lloyd was sure he could still be a menace when he wanted to be.
"Eh. That tracks. I gotta say, I like that kid way better when he's focused on his gardening instead of causing chaos." Nya might find Brad annoying, but she had to admit he had done wonders with the school's flowerbeds.
"He has really been trying to turn over a new leaf lately. I'm proud of him," Stated Zane. The others nodded in agreement. Brad had come a long ways since they had first met him during the Evil Clone Incident.
"With a granny like his, I'm not surprised. She scares me." Jay shuddered.
"Hey, now," Lloyd said. He took a bite of pizza before continuing. "Everyone needs a slightly terrifying old person in their lives. Brad has his granny and we have Uncle Wu."
"You find Wu terrifying?" Zane asked, skeptical. He found it difficult to see Wu as particularly threatening. On most days, at least.
"Well yeah - Sometimes." The green ninja sheepishly admitted. He was fully aware that most people probably expected his father to be the relative he found scary. And Garmadon was scary, too, but things were different now that he was free of the Great Devourer's venom. Wu was a menace because he wanted to be, not because of any outside influences.
"Have you seen how quickly Wu can move when he wants to be sneaky? I swear the guy gives me a heart attack at least once a week popping up behind me when I'm in the middle of something!" Jay exclaimed, "I'm with Lloyd on this one."
"You probably shouldn't say that in front of Wu. It'll just encourage him," Kai commented.
"Yeah," Cole agreed, "Don't give him any ideas. One time I told him he might wanna sing a little more quietly in the shower… So He sang louder instead."
Nya stifled a giggle. Their uptight mentor certainly knew how to mess with people when he wasn't forcing them out of bed hellishly early to train. No one except maybe Zane appreciated that. Speaking of beds, Nya was beginning to think hers sounded like a rather nice place to be right about now. Definitely more inviting than the hospital cot had been. With a thick pile of fuzzy blankets and plenty of extra pillows. Mmm… Yes… Bed… sleep. She had a lot of sleep to catch up on…
"Ugh. I hate to say it, but I'm about ready to fall asleep at the table. All the pain meds they had me on really wiped me out," Nya admitted, yawning. Several of the others began to boo loudly at this announcement.
"Oh stop it you guys. You managed to survive a weekend without me. I'm sure you can survive a little longer," Nya told them. She rolled her eyes at the ridiculously pathetic looks Lloyd and Jay were giving her. She wouldn't be giving in to their pleading puppy eyes routine. Not this time.
"Aww fine…" Lloyd was the first to relent. "But at least have some dessert before you go?" He leapt up from his seat and disappeared into the kitchen to retrieve a grocery bag with several boxes of frosted sugar cookies. Nya stared longingly at them and said,
"I guess I could be convinced to stay up a few more minutes." She couldn't help it. The cookies were calling to her.
"That's what I figured," Lloyd replied. He really was an expert at the Bribing Nya game. It was a skill worth being proud of.
"Wait, wait, wait!" Cole interjected, "we can't have cookies without milk. It's practically illegal."
"Truth. I got it!" Jay announced. Glasses and a jug of milk were quickly added to the assortment of cookies Lloyd was arranging on the table.
"I propose a toast," Kai stated, pouring himself a cup of milk, "To Nya not dying and finally escaping the hospital."
The sound of glasses clinking followed as the others repeated, "To Nya not dying and finally escaping the hospital!"
It really was good to be home.

You've called for Newsreader discussion and I was compelled to give it to you. And I think I have to rewatch it again because I've recently binged a ton of Sam's other work and now I want to go back to the best of it. I'm so curious as to show they'll start season 2 in regards to Dale and Helen's relationship. Any thoughts? The other Australian show that had a gay character that I've watched (A Place to Call Home) really did him dirty in the end so I'm a little concerned. Dale also seems to be seeped in the internal homophobia right now so I don't see how he could be ready to pursue a relationship with Tim, as much as I'd love that. But I don't know if Helen is going to continue their relationship knowing Dale's feelings for Tim. Season 1 ended in such an interesting place that I think how they handle this storyline will say a lot about the future of the show. It was hard for me to really root for Helen and Dale when he was hiding himself from her and lying to himself so I don't know if we really know the true potential their yet. And I just thought Dale and Tim's chemistry was more obvious than anything else.
Yessss I love talking about this show so much 😂 but I am always really terrible at analysing or figuring out stuff so I like other people to tell me what they think haha!
I have no idea what they'll do with their relationship next series! What are you thinking? I have to say that when Helen said to him that she loves him the way he is I absolutely died because its just the most sweetest lovely thing she could have said to him. Especially since she most definitely did have every right to be mega pissed at him for cheating (I read somewhere that Anna torv improvised that line as well which is just 😍 there's a reason I've had a crush on her for years now haha)
Whenever I think about helen/dale/Tim I basically get myself going in circles haha. I absolutely love all 3 of them for starters so I keep going between them and who I like haha
I think Dale and Helen are really cute together but I genuinely can't decide how much of it between them is dale just wanting it to work or whether he really does love her that way. His trauma has cut him deep so he is clearly repressing so so much. Do you think he's bi or just really really repressed? I go back and forth all the time! As for Tim and dale, they genuinely give me butterflies whenever there's scenes with the two of them I love them together so much! Butttt as you said, I'm not sure how an actual relationship between them would go right now because the boy got so many issues (and no bloody wonder after what happened to him. I would have loved to just kind of stay with Tim as he kind of clicked after hearing what dale went through and putting into place why he reacted the way he did about everything earlier)
I haven't seen that other show! I do always worry about what they'll do for these things as well, but just have to keep fingers crossed! And hopefully we'll get season 2 soon! I cant just keep rewatching season 1 like 3 times a week for the next year 😂
Sorry I went on there. I clearly have a lot of thoughts and I'm not very articulate with these things 😂
