#john singer sargent #i think his sketches are soooo much more interesting and alive-seeming than his portraiture #just found out his male nude sketches were “hidden” until a gallery show in the 1980s and then everyone was like hmm maybe this dude was ga #tho apparently that was well known by his friends at the time lol #i saw this sketch irl at the art institute several years ago but its not on display now #its funny bc iirc it was like. a kind of underwhelming exhibit of portraiture and then these REALLY COOL sketches at the end #s

selected works from my senior exhibition at arizona state university. the last 4 years have not been easy, but i am happy with where it has taken my work, and even more grateful to be surrounded by such a strong support system who is receptive to my, frankly, odd artwork. my ethos behind a lot of this work is to bring furries, queerness, and diverse bodies into the high art world. we deserve to be seen and celebrated!

Fire suppression p.1 & p.2: “Flame Retardant” & “Building Potential” Inspired by the PEM's ‘Our Time on Earth’ exhibit

I was gladly surprised to see the exhibit’s various optimistic installations, especially the building materials of the future. As a forestry student I am beginning to understand our relationship to our forests differently. In the US, forest policy which aimed to suppress wildfires has contributed to a century-long build up of fuel that would otherwise have been cleared by controlled burns or small spontaneous ground fires. Indigenous peoples shaped the forests of the Americas to require these controlled burns. More and more I realize that indigenous knowledge and collaboration is a necessary part of the stewardship of future. A concept which is present at large at the museum but also specifically within Our Time on Earth. Getting a ‘sustainable’ amount of lumber from our forest still disregards the health and purpose of these trees to a diverse and complex ecosystem. It is essential that we diversify our building material, to include carbon-negative things like mycelium! Natural resources that are close by, and at hand in our local environment, which doesn’t require chopping down a tree 3000 miles away and transporting it to the US. We need local resources whose collective cultivation lead to a sense of community and collaboration. A better future!

#looks like a vampire from those early 2000’s vampire movies #y’all know what i’m talking about #hongjoong my gothic vampire lover boy <3 #au in which hongjoong is a very old — like centuries old — vampire that enjoys fine art #and owns his exhibit//gallery that hosts the most prestigious pieces #vampire and human alike go to visit it #he’s an artist himself and has a tendency to become infatuated with humans #has many human muses who end up being his temporary lovers #he’s not set out on killing people but a majority of the time his human lovers do not survive #stops engaging with humans for a while before meeting you #you come into his gallery and ofc he’s immediately infatuated #and in the end he finds more than just a muse in you #but true love #but poor guy is too scared you’ll end up like his past lovers…so he tries so hard to stay away #but duh ofc it doesn’t work out he’s hooked on you <333 #you stay with him in his old gothic victorian style mansion #and the sex omfg #vampire hongjoong = the best lover #hongjoong smut #hongjoong hard thoughts #joongie #☕️

Pictures we took of each other at the Marina Ambramović retrospective

I've been waiting for this exhibition to happen for so long and it was a dream that it opened for my birthday. I don't have many photos because a lot of it is live performances, but I enjoyed it and I bought a membership so I can go back and spend more time with some of the longer two-week performances later this season.

Photos: some of the work Marina and Ulay made in their final pieces, including some prints made during walking the Great Wall of China towards each other for 90 days and some giant vases. And me lying on a piece intended for audience participation and performance; it felt very wrong and strange to touch a piece in the gallery, to lie down in the gallery, to perform and be a piece in the gallery
