Incredible 1924 Art Deco, with decidedly Moroccan accents, home is all white inside- a fresh canvas, but you’ve got to look beyond that and check out the original architecture. This magnificently preserved home is in Los Angeles, California and listed for $2.2M.
Why they chose to put white furnishing w/white walls, I don’t know, but look at the curvature of the stairs and fireplace.
Look at how they made a special arch from the stairs and under it is a sculptural feature on the wall.
There’s a cubby under the stairs.
Arched windows, doorways, and keyhole openings between rooms.
This home is so sculptural, even the doorways are different shapes.
The kitchen dining area is all original with built-ins, a tiled counter, and fancy beamed ceiling.
Isn’t this a lovely deck area?
The kitchen is amazing- all original, and look at the keyhole opening in the cabinet.
Beautiful sculpted hood for the vintage stove.
Have you ever seen a sink enclosure like this? And, the vintage faucets!
There’s narrow terrace just the perfect size for sitting outside the main bd.
The home has 4 bds., all big and bright.
Is this bath not amazing? There are 4.5 baths and they are all fantastic.
This closet is large enough for an amply sized chest.
And look at this- it has a dumb waiter.
More sculptural features in the hallway.
Cute little room has a door to an outside deck.
Another one of the original baths.
Each bath has a different color tile and style.
There are so many private outdoor areas.
Another great bath.
Nice little sitting area.
Another of those little private balconies.
Beautiful tile stairs and architecture.
This is a private sitting room on the roof with a deck. Look at the little turret, too.
View from the roof.
This is fabulous. Notice the different levels in the tile.

DREAMING ART-DECO
Pair of MCM architectural salvaged pieces from a local Bank , originally used as celling wall molding . We gave them a new life as wall sconces, using led strip backlight. They look great both straight up or horizontally . Use your imagination , these could also be sued above windows with curtain rods.
Sold without lighting as led stripping is more of a DIY thing , that needs of the location. Sold in pairs or individually . These are made of some sort of hard plastic dating to the 1970s in the Art-Deco style.
Item No. E5632
Dimensions: 46″ long x 5″ wide x 2.5″ deep off the wall.
List Price: $ 300 for the pair or inquire for quantity.

Decorative Plates
It's been awhile since we last posted something on the theme of the decorative arts, so I'm happy to have found this book—especially because it was mis-shelved in the stacks! This book is House and Garden's Book of Color Schemes, which contains "over two hundred color schemes and three hundred illustrations of halls, living rooms, dining rooms, bed chambers, sun rooms, roofs, garden rooms, kitchens and baths; the characteristic colors of each decorative period; how to select a color scheme, with unusual treatments for painted furniture and floors; a portfolio of crystal rooms and eight pages of unusual interiors in color." It was edited by long-time editor of House & Garden Richardson Wright (1887-1961) and Margaret McElroy, associate editor, and published by Condé Nast Publications, Inc. in 1929.
The book includes a large number of photographs of rooms, however, they are mostly in black and white—an unfortunate thing for a book about color! The promised eight color illustrations of rooms are not all present in our copy, but the five that are still in the book are shown here, alongside some of their black and white compatriots. I especially love the one titled "Tawny Yellow in Variety" that features a shocking amount of leopard print.
If you've read any of the posts I usually write, you know that I love a good binding—this one is a publisher's binding in a chartreuse-y yellow book cloth with art deco-style silver tooling featuring stars and leaves. Somebody took it upon themselves to write the publication date on the cover above the title—how thoughtful!

Always been a fan of Art Deco, and this magnificent home in Lemon Grove, California was 3 yrs. in the making. Completed in 1941, the Church Residence showcases the romance and elegance of a bygone era as it perfectly exemplifies streamlined moderne architecture. Not bad at $1.3M.
Entering, those aren’t columns, they’re curved walls.
Okay, it’s been refurbished and preserved, and it’s very white. BUT...I look at it like this- if you’re a millionaire and have the money to buy it, it’s a blank canvas ready to decorate. LOOK at those classic curves!
Sleek black floors. In my vision, some of these walls are screaming for Flamingo Pink.
The kitchen remodel is unremarkable, and too angular, but I do love that triangular cutout. Notice the door w/the classic round window.
Curved wall in the master.
And, check out the colors of this original en suite. The bathrooms alone, in this house, are worth the price.
Will you look at these beauties?
Pristine exterior has curved glass windows, and look at the railing on the roof.
Beautiful awning over the porch in back.
Check out the view from the roof top deck.
I hope whoever buys this beauty, makes her fabulous.
