Art Deco 1920-1935
The Art Deco period was 1920-1935 and got its name from the International Exposition Of Modern Decorative And Industrial Arts, held in Paris in 1925. This era is known for jazz, flapper necklaces, headbands, tassels and a decade that heralded the liberation of women.
The trend in rings was towards larger more statement type rings. Often featuring a large central gemstone surrounded by diamonds

Brooches remained very popular throughout the Art Deco period. With brooches even being used on hats and to hold feathers in place. Dress clips that could combine to form a brooch were also quite popular

As a well known style across the world, the Art Deco movement also influenced various other aspects of design. Its influence can be seen in interior design, architecture, industrial design, cinema and fashion, graphic arts.

A pretty 1927 pale lime green crêpe de chine dancing dress from Atelier Bachwitz, a Jewish-owned Vienna-based publishing house that published exquisite fashion and lifestyle magazines from 1898 to 1938.

The straight line silhouette is typical of the 1920s, the clever, zigzag piecing of the fabric more common after 1925 as the Art Deco aesthetic took hold. Loose, fluttering bias-cut ruffles became popular right around 1926 and got more and more fluttery as the decade progressed. Bright, cheerful colors in lightweight silks were fashionable the entire decade.
Looking at the image, I believe the skirt flounces are petal-shaped at the bottom, something like quarter-circles in cut, and freehanging from each other. A pain straight slip of matching silk worn underneath would protect modesty as the flounces flared out like flower petals while dancing.

I made a vintage style jumper. It's a pattern from the 1930's with sailor collar (I love sailor collars) and a relatively easy pattern for beginner knitters (I consider myself still a beginner knitter, since I only ever made 1 other jumper and a couple of scarves). I made the pattern as is, so no alterations whatsoever. It fits! (sort of :p )

Art Deco Bloodstone "Griffin & Sword" Intaglio Signet Ring
Superb antique signet ring set with a 3D geometrical cut bloodstone head with intaglio carved heraldic crest depicting a griffin holding a sword. The bloodstone presents a deep green colour - almost black - with flecks of red throughout, and ideal contrast to the high-carat yellow gold mount. Intricate floral and foliate engraving adorns the gallery, and it dates from the 1920s. Handmade throughout with SS maker's mark inside the band. Crafted in 15 karat gold.
The crest belongs to Clan Bannatyne of Scotland, worn by all of the name and ancestry and often seen alongside their Latin motto: "Nec Cito Nec Tarde" (neither fast nor slow). In heraldry-speak it would be described as: "A demi-griffin, in his dexter paw a sword erect, Proper"
