{By Your Side Tonight}
Tumblr media
Program: As the 501st's support agent, you've come to grow fond of your boys. Even if they're reckless and obvious. You only just marked it up to be a part of their charm, and two members of the boys in blue enjoy pulling at your heartstrings. Always trying to stay one move ahead of them in your game, a night out to 79s has you kneeling before one of them after what should have been a fatal blaster shot.
Pairing: Arc Trooper Fives x GN! Reader
Side Pairing Ref: Jesse x OC! Embrey, Rex x GN! Reader -> tiny hints
Genre: Fluff, Teasing, Flirty Humor
Length: 3930w
Warnings: Flirting, Petname (Cy'are, Little One, Mesh'la), Blaster wound, Some swears
Counselor Note: So excited to be apart of @cloneficgiftexchange!! The lovely @miaowshacat requested a funny/serious situation for their gift. Hopefully, you enjoy this! My sense of humor is definitely flirty irl, so I know that's not typically what humor is considered.
Request Prompt: "Please stop getting shot, it stresses me out". "Oh, well if you don't like it".

Skyscrapers shoot pillars of faint illumination through the night sky, and speeder taillights leave trails of neon in their wake. As war rumbles across the galaxy, the blaring bass and sonic speakers from the surrounding clubs cause Coruscant's lower levels to vibrate. Overly excited club goers stumble and giggle amongst themselves on the walkways as wary eyes peer out from alleys.
Even on nights out, a heavy unease seeps into your bones once you step onto the landing platform. Your eyes narrow as you try to take everything in, but not even the bright signs help you see past the heavy rainfall tonight.
“If you keep glowering like that, you’ll scare away anyone who might consider asking your sour ass for a dance,” Fives shoulders past you and throws a wink over his shoulder.
You roll your eyes and follow the rowdy boys in blue closer to the pulsing music, “I’d be more worried about anyone seeing past your ego, if I were you. You do know that sweet words and drinks will only compensate for so much. Right, Fives?”.
Jesse howls in laughter, and Echo claps your shoulder. “Got you there, vod. For the so-called ‘people’s man’, you’ve been striking out lately,” Echo laughs. Each clone walks beside you with buzzing excitement, fitted with their new planetside outfits. Similar to their blacks, they all wear a tight, compression top with short sleeves with matching cargo pants.
“Who’s side are you on, traitor,” Fives shouts back. With an unconcerned shrug, Fives’ face melts into a smile of soft admiration: “Maybe, I have my heart set on someone, and I don’t want to fuck it up”.
Your breath hitches. For the faintest moment, you catch Fives’ eyes flickering to you. The rain splutters as it lands in the forming puddles by the line to 79s. A few stray away to kiss his cheek bone and trail down his glowing expression. They hang, frozen, on his jawline before they race down the column of his neck and find a home in the dip of his collarbone. Quick as the moment, the storm thickens, and Fives refocuses on his brothers leaving you with a racing heart.
“The side of reason, di’kut,” you cough as you shuffle closer to the entrance when the line moves. Knots twist and sit heavy in your stomach as your gaze shifts from one group of friends in the line across the walkway to a group of illegal speeders in the next landing bay. Pushing a deep breath through your lungs, you roll your shoulders. Even shifting your weight from side to side, you still feel restless surrounded by some many unfamiliar people.
Fives takes you in with a gentle look and holds your face, “Hey, look at me. Look at me, okay?” His soft voice rings clear from the cybernetic cacophony that makes your ears prick. You meet his honey colored eyes and feel your gaze soften. He leans in close to your ear, “Everything is going to be okay, I promise you. 79s is the safest club down here, and you have a small army of clones that’ll have your back. I’ll be by your side the whole night if you’d like”.
Calloused fingertips carefully soothe your warm cheeks. Cool droplets of rain help tame the frenzied tingles burning your skin. Fives looks towards his brothers while carefully running his hands up and down your arms to help ease your nerves. While you think about his offer, you notice the coy looks and smiles directed at Fives over his shoulder. Pushing a heavy breath through your nose, you close your eyes and lean into his hold. Fives’s hand naturally falls to rest at your hip.
Swallowing the lump in your throat, it plummets into your stomach. Crushing the few butterflies who hoped to soar. “Well, I would hate to sour your night,” you shoot him a teasing smile and pat his chest moving up in line. Your lips purse as you hand over your ID to the bouncer, and the thumping stereo only further irritates you.
While you wait for the rest of the group to hand over their IDs, a warm hand rests between your shoulder blades. Although very similar to the ones that held you moments ago, you know it belongs to another. Slightly larger and holds you with a firm tenderness that you allow yourself to ease into. “Safe to assume this game’s continuing tonight then?,” Rex asks as he shuffles closer to you, allowing Hardcase and Dogma to pass over their credentials.
“Care to elaborate on what game you’re referring to, Captain?” you ask with a raised brow. Your blood sears through your veins as Rex meets your smoldering gaze with a knowing glint in his eye.
“There is not a single person who doesn’t see the two of you playing cat and mouse,” Rex lowly explains, “I’m getting quite bored watching you play around, little one”.
His hand trails up and across your shoulder line to rest on your upper arm, tucking you into his side. The only relief from the flush of warmth washing over you is the fact that you feel Rex’s heart hammering against his chest almost as fast as your own.
“And what would you have me do, hm? Or would you like some more attention instead? All you have to do is ask,” you ponder, “Besides, it’s all good fun. Did you ever think that I might like being the one who’s chased? This little game isn’t as straightforward as you may think”.
He shakes his head with a small laugh and guides you through the entryway into the club. “Then I’ll leave you to your fun tonight. You’ll have to teach me the rules to your heart next time, mesh’la,” Rex’s voice darkens as he parts away from you with a lingering touch. The fleeting feeling of his calloused fingertips trailing along your side makes you dizzy.
Bodies twist and bend around each other to the DJ’s beat. Flashing lights twirl and surround you in a warm glow as you step down into the ever fluctuating crowd. The boys in blue start to holler and skirt past you to get a jumpstart on their night. Kix pauses by you, “If you need anything, just grab one of us, alright? Have some fun tonight, too”. Before you can even spare a smile, he disappears into the mass of bodies.
You push and shove your way through the wave of patrons swarming the entrance to try to make it to the bar. Sweaty bodies graze up against you trying to get to their next destination while the deafening bass pounds your chest with every beat. Glimpses of the illuminated shelves of drinks and mixers being tossed in the air can be seen in the small openings between passing bodies as you squeeze through the last line of people.
Your chest constricts as more people seem to push you from behind and others shuffle you sideways. Reaching out with one arm, you huff before pushing back against the wave of people around you. With everyone moving in different directions at once, you’re jostled in the thick of it. When you break free of the rushing crowd’s pull, you tumble forward from its hold and it into the welcoming arms of another.
“Thought you said you didn’t want me by your side tonight,” Fives’ warm breath tickles the shell of your ear. He pulls back with his signature smirk and leads you with a hand resting on the small of your back to a pair of open bar stools.
You shoot him a playful glare as you settle onto your seat, “Don’t put words in my mouth, love”. You rest your head on your fist and kick him gently underneath the bar. Once the pet name slips past your lips and registers in his mind, Fives’ breath hitches. “Afterall, you were the one who called me sour when I’m only ever sweet to you boys,” you wink at him before signaling over the service droid.
“Now hold on a minute,” Fives leans in on his forearm with a smile pulling at his lips, “You’re sweet to us? Who else is graced by your kindness and charm? Thought I was the only man for you, cy’are”. Tearing his playful gaze away from you, Fives orders for the two of you. In a moment, two vibrant mocktails are set between your seats.
“Wouldn’t the people’s man like to know,” you drawl out and take a sip of your drink. A refreshing mixture of juices and ice blend together in your mouth. “Now, back to the boys-- how do you think the night will end for them?” you ask and do a sweep of the club with your eyes.
Most of the boys have managed to find partners to join them on the dance floor. Jesse is tucked away in a secluded corner with his partner, Embrey. The two men have only just started seeing each other, but you also catch Jesse smiling at his data pad more often now. Hardcase is tangled with the wolfpack in one of the booths as they continue their usual boisterous recollections of the latest events. Rex joins Wolffe and Cody at the unofficial CO booth on the raised level as they keep a careful eye on their legions.
“Jesse won’t be coming back to the barracks with us. That civvie’s got him wrapped around his little finger,” Fives pulls himself closer to your side and slides an arm to rest on the back of your stool.
You hum in agreement, “I somehow think that’s not hard to accomplish with you boys. You’re all practically a pack of tooka kittens — from pulling at each other's ears to pushing each other to try to get someone’s attention”. You smile at him over the rim of your drink, and the look of utter betrayal on Fives’ face sends you into a flurry of laughter.
“Oh, don’t leave yourself out of that either,” Fives wags a finger at you, “Nearly bit my head off when you found out I didn’t get medcare after Teth only to keep me close when we were all playing sabacc. You’re just as bad as us when it comes to attention, and I would reckon that you’re even worse”.
As Fives points out your shared similarities, you can’t help but lean into him more. Nearly tangled together, to the point where anyone could rightfully question if the pair of you are just friends, you rest a hand on his chest. You play with the collar of his shirt with your fingertips. The rise and fall of his breath upticks beneath your palm, and you find comfort in the steady thrum of his heartbeat.
“What’s the matter, love?” You tilt your head, “Cat got your tongue?”
As you pull your gaze away from where your fingers fiddle with Fives’ collar, your heart drops when you realize his attention lays elsewhere. “Now what could be more captivating than our conversation,” you weakly laugh. Twisting your head, you immediately notice the handsome Nautolan man eying Fives from his table. His eyes shift from your friend and widen when he meets your gaze. Even as your breath freezes, lungs constrict, want to push Fives’ arm away -- you instead send the man a soft smile and nod your head.
Turning away with slightly slumped shoulders, you put on a brave face and pat Fives’ arm. “I’ll make sure to tell Echo you won’t be returning to the barracks tonight as well,” you say as you rise from the stool. With a swift swoop of your arm, you grab your drink and quickly finish it off.
“Cy’are, come on. Sit back down. I said I’d stay by your side tonight, which means I’m not going anywhere you aren’t,” Fives pleads. One hand grasps your forearm and weakly attempts to guide you back to the stool.
Even with his warm expression inviting you to rejoin him, his hand feels cold against your skin.
Even with the teasing tip of his smirk pulling you back to his side, his silence rings clear.
Even though Fives is the person you dream of waking up next to in bed each morning, Fives’ eyes wander everywhere except for the one person who stands by his side.
“Go have fun, Fives. I’m going to search for some of mine own,” you reassure him and slide his hand away. You shoot him a wink as you walk past him and blend into the wave of patrons.
Once again flooded with the overwhelming proximity of strangers, frustration flames through your blood. The sticky atmosphere chokes you as your heart pounds against its cage. The corners of your vision blur and darken while you move solely focused on the entrance. Stinging static drowns out the annoyed protests and looped music tracks from your hearing. The moment you break free from the club’s hold, you stride into the crisp night air that envelops you in a thick downpour of rain.
Not sparing a glance behind you, you continue to move as far away from the clone club. Yet with every step, something nips at the back of your neck. Not even an hour ago, you wanted to leave and return for a night in the barracks. Now you follow the near-empty streets as they twist and wind and lead you further away from your friends and into an awaiting pit of darkness. Finally able to blink away the rain just long enough to catch sight of a nearby storefront awning, you dart for cover and shiver against the cool durasteel building.
Heavy breaths wrack your body as you watch the trickles of rain plummet from the awning.
Maybe it was time to put a stop to your little game and come clean?
The occasional speeder joins the rushing soundscape that drowns out your comlink’s alert.
You heart wrenches at the thought of cutting off both men.
Faint shapes of bodies not even glancing at your hiding place come in and out of focus from the downpour.
Then again, neither seemed too interested in making the next move.
Until one shadow stops.
You shake your head to clear your mind from memories of their shared looks, and you push away your thoughts.
Its shape growing and defining itself against the curtain of rain that had shielded you.
Steadying your breath, you carefully stand. “Not another step,” you demand. In the moment the shadow pauses, you slip off your comlink and send an alert to the shared channel of the 501st. Hopefully, the darkness is your ally this time.
“Wouldn’t you want some company?,” a husky voice calls out, “This isn’t the type of place to be wandering around by yourself — especially in this weather.”
They take a step closer.
A faint alert chirps from your comlink.
“My friends are on their way,” you coolly reply as thunderous footsteps and shouts roar against the brewing storm.
The shadow’s head tilts, but not in contemplation.
“That’s what we were hoping for,” the shadow snarls.
Shivers shudder down your spine in realization.
Just as you launch yourself from your spot, blaster bolts strike through the night sky like lightning. No longer concerned about the shadow who slipped into the darkness, you run towards the echoign command. Clenching your fists, you slam your feet against the rain soaked platform.
“Fives,” you shout.
Blaster bolts illuminate the walkway and reveal silhouettes struggling against one another.
“You picked the wrong person to go after, ge’hutuun,” one of your boys grunts.
Rain droplets pelt down on you and leave stinging splotches on your skin.
Bringing your comlink up to your mouth, you grit your teeth against the howling wind. “This is 501st support agent to base, do you copy? We need back up. This is an emergency, do you copy,” you try to speak clearly against the growing panic bubbling inside you.
A single scream silences the street’s symphony.
“Fives,” someone calls out.
“Fives?” you breathe out.
It feels like the rain weighs down on you and locks you in place. Each footstep harder to take than the last. As the 501st comes into view, tears blur your vision as you hastily look each man over.
Rex and Jesse stand just off to the side, speaking to a holograph of Commander Fox with apprehensive expressions. Hardcase, Dogma, and Tup surround the dazed assailants while pacing every few steps before returning.
Echo and Kix kneel on the ground beside a body just ahead of you.
“Fives?” you croak.
Echo raises his head and motions you over to join them. His serious gaze pulls you from your cemented spot and into a run.
Skidding to a stop, you sink to your knees next to Fives’ head. Your eyes flicker from his pained expression to his heaving chest to the blaster graze just above his hip. The outfit he was so excited to wear out for the first time now smolders around blistering skin.
“This wasn’t the show I was hoping to put on for you, cy’are,” Fives hoarsely laughs.
A watery chuckle breaks your chapped lips, “Well, you’re quite the showstopper. You can put on an actual show for me another time. But, please stop getting shot, it stresses me out”.
Fives lets out a booming laugh that’s quickly cut off by a groan, “Oh, well if you don’t like it, I’ll just have to ask the Sith to stop the war for me. Sure they’ll be real understanding -”. His sentence cuts off when he sucks in a sharp breath.
You look over to Kix who has a less than amused expression at the two of you. One hand barely applying pressure to Fives’ wound.
“Calm down, you’re not going to die,” Kix rolls his eyes and slightly shoves Fives’s side, “You have second degree burns, di’kut. Just need some bacta patches, and you’ll be fine with minor scarring”.
“That should have been a direct hit though,” you murmur, looking at the wound. You face Fives once again, yet this time he won’t meet your eyes. Resting your hand on his jaw, you make him meet your pointed gaze. A slow warmth grows underneath your touch.
“His clothing is made up of an experimental light-weight, ballistic material. It’s a prototype for casual bulletproof clothing,” Kix explains and pulls  your attention back to him. He tugs at the singed edge of Fives’ shirt. The cloth barely moves from the strain. “Did -- did he not tell you why we came out tonight?” Kix asks you with an incredulous laugh.
“He actually went through with his dumb plan. Kriffsake, this should be good,” Echo snickers and shuffles away from you.
“It’s bulletproof?” you shriek at him.
Fives quickly throws his hands up and scoots away from you to push himself up into a crouching position. “Not completely! That’s why we had to test it out,” he defends.
His words still you. Narrowing your eyes, you watch as Fives pales under your sharp gaze. “Test it?” your voice comes out a low growl.
Fives sends a weak glare over your shoulder, “Who’s side are you on, traitor?”
Echo and Kix burst into laughter, barely spitting out coherent words. “The side of reason, di’kut,” they reply in unison.
“You were the one who volunteered to be the mark,” Kix notes.
“‘Just you watch, I’ll put an end to this little game of ours tonight,’” Echo say in a poor imitation of his twin, “‘By the end of the night, I will confess my undying love for my cy’are”.
“I did not say that,” Fives barks back.
“I am so grateful that shot didn’t kill you,” you confess while you drop your head in relief. You try to conceal the snickers that threaten to slip past your lips.
Out of the corner of your eye, you see Fives perk up. “Does that mean I can take you out on a date?” He asks.
“No,” you say. When his posture slumps once more, you slowly raise your head and meet his disappointed gaze. “No, I’d like to take you out myself,” your voice drips with false sweetness.
“Well, who am I to say no to a lovely date with my cy’are,” Fives leans closer to you with a small smile spreading across his face.
“I’m so grateful that bulletproof material kept you alive just long enough for me to take you out myself,” your voice growls in playful anger.
Fives’ eyes widen, and he pushes off the ground and sprints away from you. “Cy’are, I’m sorry,” he laughs and shouts over his shoulder.
“Too late. Get back here, di’kut,” you yell and launch after him.
Footsteps slosh and slap against the platform while both your laughter mixes with the comforting hum of the evening. As you near Fives, your gazes meet as he turns to check on you with an adoring expression. Reaching out with one hand, your face lights up when he turns completely to face you. Arms open waiting for you to join him by his side once more.
Throwing your arms around his neck, you press yourself close to him. His hands rest comfortably on your hips, and Fives ducks his head in the crook of your neck. The gentle scratches as you play with the edge of hair bring small hums from his mouth that softly tickle your skin.
“I’m still going to murder you,” you mumble into his shoulder.
Fives hums, and his hold tightens around you. “Just wait until after the date. I’m looking forward to it, and it would be my life’s regret if I never actually had the honor to spend the night by your side”.
The soft glow from flickering neon signs wraps around your bodies as the rainstorm eases to a gentle lull. Neither of you pay attention as the Coruscant Guard passes. Some send Fives a celebratory salute while others clap your shoulder with a chuckle. As the night life fades to distant hum, Fives straightens himself and pulls you under his arm to lead you back to the group. Soft smiles and shouts of relief greet the two of you, now that the game has come to an end.
At least for tonight.
One pair of eyes linger on you for a moment longer than they should have. “Rex, we’re good to head out now. Gave Fox the report and analysis already,” Jesse states.
Rex pulls his gaze from where you stand tucked comfortably in his vod’s hold, and he nods at Jesse. “Then I think it’s time we head back to the barracks and get some rest. I’m sure we’ll find ourselves absorbed in another game by the time we deploy again,” Rex shakes his head with a small laugh.
Jesse looks at him with an impressed, yet shocked, expression. “Don’t tell me you’ve been keeping out on us and have your eye on someone,” he says with a light elbow jab to Rex’s side.
With a knowing look in his eye, Rex motions for Jesse to make his way over to the awaiting transport. Once everyone from the 501st and guard are accounted for, Rex allows himself to relax against the wall. Letting his head fall to one side, he steals one more glance and smiles at the sight of you dozing off on his brother’s shoulder. Rex raises his gaze and meets Fives’ eyes, and they subtly nod at each other.
The night may be over, but the game is still in play.

Worst Case Scenario
Echo x Reader
Summary- After an ambush from the Empire, you, Echo, and Omega must escape by yourselves. Hunter and Wrecker sacrifice themselves to let you three live. Based on Season 2, Ep. 16
A/N- This is angst angst angst! But semi-sweet ending. Always open to constructive criticism, thank you!
Word Count- 1,837
Tumblr media
"You know... I tried to look out for you boys... You too." Cid said, turning her gaze from Wrecker to you.
You immediately got an unsettling feeling in your stomach. Well, more than you had since Tech's fall. Tech's death... Tears threatened to prickle at the thought, but you had to stay strong. Especially being Omegas role model...
Echo had once called you her mother figure, you remember turning red. You dismissed him jokingly, but it gave you that warm feeling in your chest. You certainly loved Omega like a daughter. You don't think there is anything you wouldn't do for her.
"You've just got too much heat on you... and you brought it here... at my place of business... I had to make the best out of a bad situation..."
You didn't even listen to Wrecker's response, as you took off for Omega's room. Blaster sounds and lasers erupted.
With a hand on your side blaster, you turned the corner and slid into Omegas temporary room.
Hunter was already standing, eyes wide.
"Call for Echo." He instructed.
You had never felt so much fear. You had all been in tight situations like this before- only now you were all beaten emotionally and physically.
"Yes sir." You mustered, out of pure habit.
"What's happening?" Omega started, standing at the blaster effects.
"It's the Empire- You two take the mining tunnels to the space port and find Echo." He looked at you, understanding the reality of the situation. "I'll get Wrecker." No, he was going to stall and buy us some time. Hunter was a smart clone, he knew what he was doing.
You tried to check the comms while Hunter pushed out a box, revealing the tunnel entrance. All you heard was static on every channel.
"But you're injured! You can't fight them alone!" She pleaded.
"You two need to go, that's an order." Hunter always commanded with authority, but there was a hint of pleading in his voice.
Omega jumped to hug Hunter, squeezing his side strongly.
"I love you." She whispered.
"I love you too, Omega."
After an exchange of glances that spoke a million words, Omega started down the tunnel. You stopped for a second, turning, and rested a hand on Hunters shoulder.
"Protect her." He insisted.
"I will... And we'll find you..." You tried to stay hopeful, but it was difficult with the past few days you had.
He gave a glance down the tunnel, Omega was too far to hear his next words.
"No, you need to get her out of here." You had never seen him so demanding.
"But-" He interrupted you.
"Now. Don't look back."
You simply nodded and headed down the tunnels.
Omega stopped on the bottom platform, you jumping down behind her.
"I can't do it.." Omega started, followed by your name. She sniffed- "We already lost Tech."
"And I am not going to lose you Omega." You said, at a loss for any word of comfort. You did though, step closer.
"No, we are going back." She tried to climb up, you blocked her way.
"Let me go!" She yelled, getting more frustrated.
"Omega!" She stopped struggling and looked at you. You crouched down to be level with her.
"We have to leave and find Echo." You gently grabbed her hands in yours. "He will know what to do. Us two, we can't take on the Empire by ourselves"
"We can't leave Wrecker and Hunter!" She yelled, arms pulling back. You inhaled deeply, you didn't want to leave them either. But you couldn't help anyone if you were all dead. You knew they were after Omega, and nothing was going to stop them.
Better three dead siblings than six, you thought gruesomely.
She looked you dead in the eyes, "If it was Echo you would go back!" You bit your bottom lip. Maybe she was right... but it wasn't Echo. It was Hunter and Wrecker, the people who would be pissed if I let her try to be a hero.
"Omega, Hunter told me to protect you. That's what I'm doing." She looked up at you with big eyes, filled with tears.
"It's not fair!" She hissed, tears falling angrily.
"I know honey, but if we don't get to Echo. We will be dead." Your breath shook at your own words. They were harsh, but not far from the truth.
She let out a small sob as you enveloped her in a hug. She clung to you desperately, almost as if it would change the circumstance.
"It's not fair.." She repeated to herself in a whisper.
You did nothing but pet her hair and hold her. After a minute you gave her a light squeeze. "We have to move before the Empire finds the ship."
She sniffled but nodded in understanding.
The two of you quickly made your way out of the tunnel exits. It was just a short run to the ship yards.
You gave a quick prayer to anyone listening before trying your comms again. The Empire scrambled the channels, but hopefully a short-range signal worked. With you and Omega crouched behind The Marauder, you tried contacting Echo.
"Echo, Omega and I are by the ship. Open the ramp." You whispered quickly. You got no response. "Echo?" You tried again.
With a loud steam, the ships doors opened. You and Omega rushed in, closing it quickly.
"Echo, we need to get out of here now!" You ran to take the Co-Pilot seat.
"What's going on, where is Hunter and Wrecker?" Echo questioned, starting up The Marauder.
With a glance behind you, you saw Omega bundled into a ball in her bunk. You still kept your voice down for your next statement.
"We were ambushed, Cid sold us out. Hunter and Wrecker gave Omega and I a window to escape." Your own eyes filled with tears at the guilt. "I had to take it." You sobbed. "I had to protect Omega." You stood true to your words, but broke down into tears.
It was a lot to process for Echo. He wanted to comfort you, but had to think logically first.
"I'm going to go back, you two need to get to Pabu." Echo stated.
"No, you don't understand Echo! That's a suicide mission!" You gasped out.
With a deep swallow, you continued- "It's the Empire!"
He snapped his head around, "We've gone against them before."
"Not this many Echo..." You let out another sob. "There are too many for us." You pulled forward, both hands cupping Echos head. "Hunter and Wrecker are already dead by now." Tears flowed freely down your face. "What do we do Echo....?"
Just as you finished, blaster noises arose. You both called for Omega, feeling much safer with her in the cockpit with the two of you.
While Echo pulled the ship up to fly, Omega was already sat in the shuttle's gunner's seat. She had a twisted look on her face as she shot freely at the Empire troopers that attacked.
You took in a deep breath, one that painfully refilled your lungs.
You viciously wiped your tears away, grabbing the handles to the front blasters of the ship. With a white-knuckled grip you shot furiously. You lost your perception of time as you fired and fired.
Echo expertly dodged most of the Empires bombs and shots, but not as well as Tech would have. Another painful reminder. Three dead. Three brothers are gone. Not to mention Crosshair was probably dead as well...
The thoughts clouded you, your grip tightened on the blaster, but you stopped firing. Your breath quickened, hyperventilating. Adrenaline was starting to lose its effect, you were crashing and burning.
Echo called your name out, you didn't move until he shouted it for the third time.
You faced him slowly, hands not moving. Your eyes were wide, mouth slightly agape.
"Hey, hey." He got up out of his seat, putting his hand on top of one of yours gently.
"It's okay, they're gone... It's over..." He pulled your hands off the handles slowly. He then cupped your face with utmost care.
"We're safe... You're safe..." With his words, you looked out the glass pane. Echo had managed to launch into hyperspace. The three of you were out of danger.
Your chest still heaved, desperate for oxygen. You shot around, looking for Omega.
She was sat in her make-shift room, clutching her stuffed toy.
You looked back at Echo, locking eyes. You embraced him strongly. He was still slightly confused on the situation, but he did what he had to keep the last of his family safe.
He pulled away to press quick kisses over your face. You were still in shock and didn't kiss back- but you leaned into his touch.
He wiped tears from your face with his hand, everything felt numb. How was he still composing himself? You questioned to yourself.
With sad eyes, you looked down, a deep breath filling you.
You reached a hand up to place on him, feeling between his breast-plates. The feeling of his chest rising calmed you.
"I'm... I'm gonna go check on Omega." You choked out, hand swiping off any last tears, quickly. He nodded, hand coming up to rest on yours. You smiled half-heartedly and slowly lowered your hand.
It was a long night of holding and rocking Omega. After the high of battle drifted away she was hysterical. Her cries were only muffled by your chest, which she clung to. You held yourself together, somehow.
When she had finally cried herself to sleep, you laid her down. Making sure that Lula, her Tooka doll, was close by.
You returned to Echo with a shaky breath. He held his arms open, an invitation for you to join him in his seat.
You took it and lowered yourself into him, melting with his touch. His arms closed around you, hand resting on your hip.
"What the hell now..." You commented, void of any emotion. You were worn out.
He thumbs the skin around your waist. "We can head to Pabu. Get resources, contact Rex, maybe even stay."
Your face scrunched up at this, you hated Pabu. Everything and everyone had a happy-go-lucky attitude. But, it didn't matter what you thought anymore. All you and Echo needed to think about is what was best for Omega.
"Or not stay, we will see what happens." He practically read your mind.
"I don't care what we do, as long as Omega is happy and safe." You glanced back at her, still sleeping.
"You need to be happy and safe too." He said, thinking about Omega and you.
You swallowed, looking down at the floor.
"So do you..." You raised your gaze to meet his. "What would make you happy, Echo?"
"Don't worry about me, you've got your hands full already." He kissed the crown of your head.
"You take care of me, I'll take care of you." You said snuggling closer to his chest.
"And we'll both take care of Omega."

Still Hanging the Mistletoe for You
A/N: This is a gift for @dragonrider9905 for the @cloneficgiftexchange Happy Holidays lovely!
Prompt (will be in BOLD GREEN): “Are you…taking down the mistletoe?”
Pairing: Echo x Fem!Reader
Rating: T (minors still DNI)
Word Count: 1292
Warnings and tags: none. It’s a floofy one! Second person perspective, no (y/n)
Summary: Just when Reader thinks she’s spending Life Day alone, she gets a delightful surprise
Snow gracefully swirled in the air as Life Day music softly jingled through your small home declaring feelings of joy and gratitude.
However you were feeling neither.
You glanced around at the half completed projects that you had no motivation to see through to completion and sighed. Half decorated Life Day cookies covered your kitchen counters. A quarter decorated tree stared at you sadly in your sitting room. Decorations sat exposed in open boxes, begging you to hang them. The one thing you’d managed was to hang the mistletoe which now mocked you more than sparking joy.
Why bother? It’s not like you had anyone to kiss under the mistletoe anyway. The one person you wanted to kiss didn’t even feel the same and even if he did, Echo was Maker knows where doing Force knows what.
You flopped onto your sofa trying to suppress the resentment bubbling in your chest. It wasn’t your family’s fault they couldn’t manage to get together this Life Day. And it wasn’t Echo’s fault he didn’t return your affection. It’s not like you told him anyway.
Tumblr media
“Echo! What about this one!” Omega’s joyful voice reverberated through the holiday market as she held up a delicate Life Day snow globe. Echo’s eyes narrowed as he leaned in with intense scrutiny.
“Mmm that is pretty but it doesn’t quite say ‘I have feelings for you.’ We are getting closer though!”
Omega shrugged and put the snow globe back. She flitted from stall to stall helping her brother look for the perfect Life Day gift. Her own bags were stuffed with gifts she’d already procured for Hunter, Tech, Echo, and Wrecker. Echo’s eyes followed the bubbly blonde as she stomped through the fresh snow, effervescent and bright. He smiled fondly as he returned his attention to the vendor stalls. He’d stopped at fifteen so far and passed on a variety of trinkets, baubles, and other goods. None were perfect. None were you.
Echo paused at a stall selling scarves. His fingers traced soft embroidery, elegant lace, and ticklish fringe imagining how each would look draped around your neck. Still none were good enough. They were too rough for your soft skin, too boring for your exuberance, too…inadequate, all of them.
Omega’s declarations of hot cocoa pulled him back. He allowed her to drag him by the arm to the vendor, feigning exasperation when in reality he loved seeing her being a kid.
“One hot cocoa,” he murmured. Omega stared at him expectantly until he added, “and one black caf.”
Echo sighed, allowing the warmth of the cup to warm his chilled hand. Omega snuggled up to him, cocoa mustache across her upper lip.
“Have you found anything yet?” she bounced on her toes as she sipped her beverage.
Echo was about to answer when a soft tinkling caught his attention. He and Omega turned to see the vendor next to them winding up various music boxes on her table. His eyes trailed along the extensive variety. There were boxes of all shapes, sizes, and colors. Some were large with ornate patterns and gaudy crystals inlaid in them. Others were small and simple. His gaze froze over the medium sized wooden one. He walked closer and eyed it. Omega watched with bated breath as Echo gingerly picked up the box. Omega twisted the key. The lid slowly opened to reveal two intricately crafted characters in an embrace: a clone trooper and a woman. As the soft romantic tune wafted through the air, they spun slowly in an intimate waltz.
“Yes. Yes, Omega I think I have found something,” Echo whispered as his eyes, warm and golden as honey sparkled.
Tumblr media
You couldn’t take it anymore. The decorations, the cookies, the music… It was too much. They’d been staring at you for days. They may have been inanimate objects but you were positive they were staring at you with pity. Except that mistletoe. The mistletoe mocked you every time you walked beneath it. Overwhelmed with frustration and heartbreak you ripped the innocuous plant from its placement above the entryway to your sitting room.
“Are you…taking down the mistletoe?” A smooth warm voice sent chills skittering down your spine. You slowly turned around coming face to face with Echo, covered in snow and confusion painted across his face. “I thought you loved Life Day?”
Heat rose to your cheeks and you looked away. How were you supposed to say, I do love it but this mistletoe was mocking the fact that I will never kiss you beneath it.
Instead you shrugged, sheepishly running the leaves through your fingers. Echo chuckled softly as he closed the space between you. His eyes twinkled in the low evening light, his head tilted to catch your eye once more.
“Hey…talk to me mesh’la.”
“What are you doing here? I thought…” you were suddenly acutely aware of the mess of half complete Life Day projects littering every visible space.
Echo cocked an eyebrow and shrugged, his trademark charming smirk unwavering. “I wanted to surprise you.”
“Oh…”
“It seems I succeeded.”
For the first time since he walked in you smiled, genuinely smiled. “Yes…yes you did.”
He reached into his coat pocket, pulling out a carefully wrapped parcel. The usual mask of confidence he normally wore, melted away into a soft and bashful gaze. “I…um…I got you something.”
You blinked, momentarily shocked before taking it from him.
“Omega helped me pick it out. And helped me wrap it because…well…” he chuckled holding up his scomp.
A grin pulled at the corner of your mouth as you motioned for him to follow you to the sitting room. Echo’s eyes scanned the room, pausing on the cookies plated on the caf table. He glanced up playfully as he grabbed a handful of the baked treats before flopping onto your sofa.
“Love your cookies. Go ahead! Open it!” He popped a cookie in his mouth and tilted his head back with an exaggerated comedic groan. “Seriously, cyar’ika. Love these cookies.”
You giggled as you lowered yourself onto the seat next to him. Your fingers trembled as you began removing the wrap from your gift. Your eyes widened at the sight of the music box. It was simple; rectangular with soft concentric patterns carved into the wood and a plain gold key.
“Echo…it’s…”
He interrupted you through a mouthful of cookies. “Turmf da key!” he mumbled excitedly through bites.
You acquiesced, carefully winding the key. You watched in awe as the lid slowly opened and the two little figures began their choreographed dance to the delicate melody. You held the box close to your face, shocked that it was a tiny clone trooper dancing with his girl.
You looked up once more to thank him only to see that he’d grabbed the mistletoe and was holding it over his head. He grinned and wiggled his eyebrows at you. “Happy Life Day, princess.”
Without hesitation you leapt into his arms, your lips crashing into his. You both giggled as your briefly knocked noses before adjusting. His lips were warm and he tasted like cookies. Time stood still as you breathed him in, his arms snaking around you. When the kiss finally broke he reached up and brushed his thumb across your lower lip.
“And a very happy Life Day to me!” His warm breath brushed your skin as his velvety laugh rang out in the quiet room. “Let’s finish decorating. Together.”
Your head came to rest on his chest, a happy hum drifting from you. “In a little bit. I want to enjoy the best gift I could’ve asked for right now.”
Echo pressed his face into your hair. He peppered soft kisses to the crown of your head before nuzzling you. He settled into the sofa, fully content with saving the decorating for later. After all, he wasn’t about to end the third best Life Day gift he’d ever gotten a moment too soon.

_______________
He's actually relaxed, but he keeps tightening up depending on where your eyes are wandering. Of course, you notice this. His hand is on your cheek, yours over his, and you look into his eyes with a gentle smile.
Echo smiles back. He loves it when you look at him with that look, like he's the center of your world. You bring his hand to your mouth, kissing his palm before your fingers gently trail down his arm to his shoulder, slowly, gently, adoringly.
"My beautiful man," you say dreamily.
He looks at you with a shy look and rolls his eyes, more or less seriously. Echo is very fond of being admired by you, but part of him still thinks that this admiration can't be entirely genuine. This is not because of you, however, but because of his self-perception since the Citadel.
You playfully flick a finger against his prominent chin and gently admonish him, "Stop that echo, that eye roll."
He takes a deep breath and laughs softly.
"Sometimes I still can't believe I actually get to enjoy your affection"
You kiss his palm again, your fingers stroking along his chin.
"You better believe it, because it's more than real. You're the one I love"
Echo lets out a shaky breath before saying, "You can't love me as much as I love you"
You chuckle, and your hand rests on his chest where his heart excitedly beats a wild rhythm.
"Why is that?"
Echo replies as a matter of course, "Because there is no increase from that, my beloved".
He blinks and tenses again as your eyes travel down his naked body. Noticing, you look back up into his face.
"What's wrong?"
He clears his throat and says evasively, "Nothing, I don't know what's wrong."
"Whenever I look at your body, you tense up".
Echo sighs softly and finally says, "Well, it's not an ideal body"
You place his hand on your chest, where he can feel your heartbeat. His gaze follows the movement, and for a moment it wanders along your unclothed shape. He swallows, moving a little restlessly.
"It is a ravishing body, the one I love and desire", you say seriously, "The one for which my heart beats faster when I see it, when it touches me".
Echo looks at you, a smile creeps back into his features.
"You really do love me" he says softly, and the happy glint in his eyes is to die for.
With a gentle nod, you lean over him, your lips moving over his face, to his chin and neck.
"Every inch of you"
Another shaky breath comes over his lips as yours begin to travel over his shoulder and chest, as your hands slide along his sides, and you move lower and lower.
Sitting between his legs, leaning forward, you feel his swelling length touch your belly and finally your breasts as you move further down. With a cheeky little smirk, you squeeze his now hard cock between your breasts and watch with satisfaction as he looks down at you leaning on his forearms with a low moan.
"You're too good to me," he says a little breathlessly.
"That's not even possible," you say with a wide smile, "I love the look on your face when you're horny and clearly want me"
Blush creeps into his cheeks, but he returns your smile in a suggestive way.
"I always want you, my love"
With fingers and lips, you explore his abs while his length is still pressed between your boobs.
"How could you not love this body," you say dreamily and finally wander even further down, releasing his cock from the erotic clasp of your breasts again. Finally, your kisses wander insinuating close around his shaft, making him gently jerk up and moan softly again and again.
"Look at that, so beautiful, the perfect complement to the rest of your body, a glorious cock. Long, thick, gently curved," you kiss its tip teasingly and watch it twitch, "And so wonderfully sensitive."
He laughs softly, then moans again as your tongue slides along his length from root to velvety, slightly reddened tip. His thighs automatically open a little wider, making room for you, and you lie down between his legs, your upper body propped up on your elbows, your breasts touching his testicles as you do so, your stiff nipples tickling against them.
Echo bites his lower lip. He knows what's coming, he's in for a real treat. You feel his whole abdomen tense in aroused anticipation, including his thighs, as your lips open and very slowly slide over the tip of his cock further and further down.
A soft, "Fuuuuck," comes over his lips.
Echo feels the wet heat of your mouth close around his cock and drops back into the sheets.
Pressing your tongue to the underside of his veiny length, you bob your head up and down, sucking passionately on his cock.
You enjoy every sound you elicit from him this way, and as you put your hands on his thighs, you feel them tense, his muscles stone hard. It's been a long time since the last time, Echo is getting close.
You can't wait to hear, see and feel him cum. You like that you can push him so far that he seems to dissolve completely in arousal. Echo should enjoy it, you want him to let himself fall, he has more than earned it.
You take his cock as deep as you can into your mouth, your gag reflex overcoming. Saliva drips down his length as you give it your all to suck him into release.
A particularly loud moan comes from his lips, then he says in surprise, "Woah, that's more intense than last time."
You let him penetrate deep, with each bob down of your head. Echo gasps in rapid succession, his thighs trembling. Your hand carefully moves to his firm testicles and gently grips them. They contract and the next moment, with an almost startled loud moan, you feel Echo squirt his cum down your throat.
You quickly relax your throat and carefully swallow around his length as he drifts twitching, quivering and surrendering through the aftershock of his climax.
"Oh, my love, that was… wow"
You gently release his slowly softening length from your mouth, wiping your lips with the back of your hand and grinning at him as he straightens back up onto his forearms. Echo grins back, his cheeks slightly flushed. His hand grabs your wrist and pulls you up to his height.
He wraps his arms around you and pulls you close, kissing your neck, your face, your forehead, your lips. Your legs carefully intertwined, his tense thigh presses close to your heated center, and you automatically press closer to him.
Echo can feel how wet you are and grins suggestively. He flexes his muscles and gently rubs his thigh between your legs. The friction sparks a pulse in your center and makes your heart flutter.
"Give me a few minutes, my beautiful, and I'll show you my love," he says suggestively, whispering close to your ear.
You smile, you feel aroused, loved and completely relaxed at the same time. Being loved by Echo is like a constant flow of gentleness, security, familiarity and eroticism, something in which you can be completely absorbed and let yourself go.
"Everything you do, every day, makes me feel your love," you say honestly.
He blinks, pauses for a second, then says softly, surprised, "I didn't think you'd really notice."
You laugh softly.
"Why?"
Echo looks at you shyly, shrugs gently, and says, "I'll do anything for you out of love, always have"
You lean your forehead against his and say softly, "I'm the luckiest woman in this Galaxy"

Clone Troopers Masterlist

“Do you see anything?” you asked as you leaned in closer to Echo, voice pitched low so you wouldn’t catch the attention of any prying ears. There was a consistent buzz throughout the room of the bar, and your eyes moved along the perimeter of it, taking in the different people who were supposedly here to have a good time.
He shook his head. “No, and I doubt that we’re going to be able to find what we’re looking for if we stay in this booth all night.”
As your partner for this mission, Echo was also keenly aware that if the two of you did not figure out where the leaking of Republic intel was coming from (and sources say it was coming from this bar), then it would set the rest of the mission back indefinitely, as well as put the lives of countless clones, Jedi, and other officers at risk. You had been assigned to work together to figure out who was selling these secrets, making sure that they were caught and that one less danger was weighing on the shoulders of those fighting for an important cause.
You nodded, knowing that he was right. “Should we split up then? You take one side of the room and I’ll take the other?”
“That sounds like a plan.”
With one more shared look, you slipped out of the booth and began to circle the perimeter of the room, keeping your eye out for anything that seemed out of the ordinary. Thankfully the bar was on your side of things, so you were able to stop and get yourself something to drink without taking your eyes off the other patrons for too long.
But even after splitting up and spending some time wandering around, you were still at a loss for who might be the one selling Republic secrets. All the intel pointed towards this place and this night, so where were the signs? You caught Echo’s eye from across the room, and the look on his face tipped you off that he was faring no better than you right now.
He looked strikingly attractive right now, even all the way across the room. You had never seen any of the clones without their armor before, and the civvie clothes that had been picked out for him were certainly flattering in a way that plastoid plates weren’t. The pants and shirt fit him like a glove, which you supposed was a side effect of working in an army full of identical men: you didn’t have to worry about things not fitting as much as you would with an army full of people of different shapes and sizes.
Get you mind out of the gutter, that little annoying voice in your head said. You’re on a mission right now, you can’t keep thinking about how much you want to kiss your fellow operative.
It probably wasn’t a good idea to be dreaming about Echo like this in the middle of a mission, but you couldn’t bring yourself to stop. He didn’t know how you felt about him, no one did, but lately those feelings had only been growing, and it was only a matter of time before someone wised up and figured it out. This was one of the only times you would get to see him like this without any of the 501st watching, so you fully intended to stare at him for as long as you could get away for it.
The comm device on your wrist flashed a new message from Captain Rex, asking if you were having any success yet. You quickly responded in the negative before walking over to Echo. “We have to figure something else out,” he said. “This isn’t working.”
You nodded as an idea popped into your head, and you grabbed his hand before you could stop yourself. “Come on,” you said, pulling him in the direction of the dancefloor. “Maybe a more central location will help us figure something out.”
“Are you sure this is a good idea?” Echo asked as you stopped and turned towards him. The feeling of his hand in yours was enough to make you want to melt right then and there, but you managed to keep your legs standing.
It must have been the liquor in the drink you ordered, because your response was a lot bolder than you usually would have been. “What? You’re saying you don’t want to dance with me?”
“More like I’m saying I have two left feet,” he said, but your encouraging smile finally had him moving closer and starting to sway along to the music.
You thought the feeling of his hand in yours was perfect, but it was already being dwarfed by the feeling of his hand on your waist. You were trying to see what was going on around the bar, but the smell of Echo’s soap was distracting, and you were starting to regret this choice of cover. Because while one part of you was shouting with glee and telling you to lean in and kiss him, there was another part of you that was desperately trying to focus on the task at and.
“Echo,” you said after a few moments of dancing with him. “You’re horrible liar, you know that?”
“What?’ Echo looked affronted and confused, and you couldn’t help the laughter that bubbled from you.
“You definitely don’t have two left feet,” you said.
“I will have to disagree with you there,” he said. “Dancing has always been Fives’ thing more than mine, I always felt more awkward at 79’s than anything else.”
“And do you feel awkward now?”
Echo paused before responding. “No, but this is different. It’s always easier to be someone else when you know it’s all for show.”
You nodded, only slightly pained at the implication that he was only dancing with you to keep up the ruse, and not because he actually wanted to. “Nice to know I mean that much to you then, trooper.”
Echo’s eyes widened as he realized how his words sounded. “No!” he said. “I wasn’t trying- I didn’t mean- I just-”
You laughed again, and his face relaxed a little. “Don’t worry,” you said. “I’m only busting your shebs, I know what you meant.”
He let out a comedic sigh of relief, and you couldn’t help the way your smile grew. “If it means anything,” he said. “I think the reason my dancing isn’t so terrible right now is because you’re here.”
“Care to elaborate?”
“I don’t think I’ve ever gone this long without stepping on someone’s foot while dancing,” he said. “And I can’t help but wonder if it’s because you’re so good at this.”
Your brain was practically mush right now, there was no coming back from this. “I think you’re just underestimate yourself,” you managed to get out.
Whatever Echo was going to say would have to wait, because you spotted a shifty-looking Rodian man over his shoulder. You didn’t even need to say anything before Echo caught on, leaning in to whisper in your ear. “Do you see something?”
You nodded, watching as the man looked around the room and then headed in the direction of the side door. “Follow me,” you whispered back, grabbing Echo’s hand and moving towards the exit.
“You know,” his voice was soft as he walked next to you. “With the show we just put on while dancing, people around here are going to talk.”
“So?” you asked, the glint in your eye telling him that you absolutely knew what people would assume. “Who cares what they all think?”
By the time you got out the side door, the Rodian wasn’t in your view any longer, but you could hear muffled voices just around the corner.
“What are we going to do?” Echo whispered urgently. “It’s not like we can walk into view and say we’re looking for Republic secrets!”
Truth be told, you hadn’t exactly thought about that yet. And once you did start thinking about it, you realized that you had another issue: even out of his armor, Echo was pretty kriffing recognizable as a clone trooper. But you didn’t really have time to really think this whole thing out, especially not as you realized the voices were getting closer and closer to where you were.
“Echo,” you whispered as you stared at him. “I have an idea, but you’re going to have to play along.”
He nodded, and even though you wished you had more time to fill him in on the plan, you didn’t. You placed both your hands on his cheeks and pulled him into a kiss, situating yourself so that you covered him as much as you possibly could.
Thankfully, Echo seemed to realize what was happening, and he played along as he placed his hands on your waist, holding you close to him. Yes, this was all for show, and yes, this was really nothing but chaste kiss of disguise, but there was something about the feeling of his lips against yours that you found exhilarating.
You could hear mutters around you as the Rodian and whoever he was speaking to passed you by, but you didn’t move. As long as he didn’t realize you were onto him, he could judge whatever he thought you were doing out here all he wanted.
When the coast was clear and the door to the bar was swinging shut, you pulled away from Echo. Trying to ignore the way his lips looked slightly swollen and the way his eyes held an emotion you couldn’t quite place, you had to get back to business. “We need to contact Rex,” you said. “I think we have our guy.”
Echo just nodded, and you quickly sent Rex the description of the Rodian, as well as the few snippets of conversation that you heard right before you got a little, ahem, distracted. Since this was only a reconnaissance mission, technically your job was done and all you had to do was wait for someone to pick you both and take you back to the Resolute.
What was going to happen now? Had you crossed a line when you kissed him? The thoughts ran rampant in your brain, and you knew that everything had changed when your lips touched his. “Look, I don’t want to make things weird between us now,” you said.
Echo looked confused. “What do you mean?”
“Because I kissed you,” you said. “I know we’ll just let everything go back to normal and-”
You were definitely not expecting for him to cut you off. “What if I don’t want things to go back to normal?”
Resisting the urge to pinch yourself (so you could decide whether or not this was really happening), you just stared at him. “What?”
“I really like you,” he admitted quietly. “And I would really like to kiss you for real, not just when we need to hide my face and blend in.”
“I really like you too,” you said, desperately hoping that this wasn’t some amazing dream that you would wake up from any second. “And I’d also really like to kiss you again.”
He obliged almost immediately, and no more words were exchanged between that moment and the time that Jesse and Fives picked you up on a speeder and headed back to the Resolute. As you wrapped your arms around Echo’s waist and held on, you couldn’t help but feel excited about where your new relationship was going to go.

Echo just can’t stop his hands from shaking.
All he can think about is how close he was to losing you permanently, how you’d be there one second and the next a mere figment of the past. Someone that used to hold him so close, heal the sores on his joints that'd been left by others, sucked the poison out of him with just pure, unadulterated love.
He almost lost it all.
The fugitive was more dangerous than they thought. Cid told them he was a low-level petty theft, not someone willing to resort to violence the second he felt threatened. Once again, they received the wrong information. The moment he felt something was up, he took out a knife, cutting past and through your civvie clothes and rendering your whole arm to go limp against you.
As he works, slowly disinfecting with a cloth, intrusive, unsettling facts race through his mind. I almost lost you, you would've been hurt so much worse if Hunter and I didn't come in at the right time, how could I let this happen...
"I'm supposed to protect you, cyare," He rasps, entirely to himself but entirely audible as well.
You nod softly, biting your split lip, your unharmed arm wrapped around his shoulder.
"You do, you always do," You whisper back, because he truly does, no matter if he believes it or not.
Echo tries to keep his hands still for you. Steady and dexterous, a firm hand holding a bacta-dipped cloth onto the gash. Holding you against the couch as he mutters to himself once again.
“You’re here, you’re okay, it’s okay…”
There’s nothing else to do but sway keenly in agreement. Stained by tears, rosy cheeks, and bitten lips, you manage to smile. He looks up from the gash to look at the sight, almost like a miracle bestowed on his naked eyes. How do you look so composed when you’re injured? So perfect, so beautiful…
Echo will never get over you.
“Ah,” You hiss through your teeth, clenching them as he presses onto your skin further. He lifts his hand away instantly.
“Did that hurt?”
“Yeah,” a hissed inhale keeps you grounded as you close your eyes, swallowing harshly. “Just give me a moment.”
He does. Echo slumps down on the chair he placed in front of the cot, sighing roughly as he watches you catch your breath. His heart swells and seizes all at once; no one in this world, especially someone as good as you, deserves to look like this. To feel what you do at this moment. But you hold yourself so composed, take it so well, better than he's ever seen. Strong as a soldier, disciplined as an ARC trooper.
Through it all, the pain inflicted, you still can smile. You smile and breathe and you're right here, with him.
Everyone he’s cared for so deeply he’s lost. Even himself, the man that was taken by the Separatists damaged and torn apart from the inside. But you’re still here. You’re alive and well and love him with all your heart.
It’s a feeling he’ll never quite fully process.

Sweet as Sugar
Jesse x Reader
Blessing this account with first filth
18+ ONLY.
Warnings: oral (female receiving), female reader, asking for consent, biting (softly), established relationship
Prompt: “Is this ok?” As they stare up at you from in between your legs. (Consent is so fucking hot and important)
Length: Short
Tumblr media
You pulled back from his lips, your lashes fluttering just in time for your eyes to lock onto the snapping of a thin line that had connected your mouths. Not even a fraction later did those sinful lips of his grin brightly at you.
You must have looked so utterly ravished. So flushed and dazed.
But the two of you had only just started...
"Cyar'ika" he cooed, sitting up properly.
With your haze clouded mind, you trailed your gaze up until you met those brown eyes you adored. The brown eyes that you slipped right into and drowned so peacefully into.
Your lips twitched into a frown, where is he going?
As if reading your mind, Jesse's smile grew.
"Don't you worry your pretty head, I'm not going...far"
His eyes sparkled in a tease as he sank slowly, never tearing his gaze from your own.
For the briefest of moments, you wondered if he could hear your thunderous heart climbing in pace, your ears sure were filled with it.
You continued to watch him, up until he reached his hand forward and gently pressed you back into the mattress.
"Relax"
You'd told him before, he could toss them across the room...and yet he never did.
His gaze flickered to your panties, the only cloth left covering you, no doubt narrowing in on the wettness there. With a pleased hum rumbling through his form, his fingers hooked over the blue cotton. Dragging it down slowly yet delicately.
Just like other times, he took the fabric from your body and dropped it onto the sheets beside him, his gaze never leaving the sight that'd been revealed with its passing.
He leaned in, all those thick and taught muscles moving with him as he lowered only until his breath puffed across your folds. Only a hairline away from where you needed him.
Your breath hitched, air trapped within your body as you blinked at him. Only a painful thud of your heart later did you answer
"Is this okay...?" came the soft whisper, chocolate hues flickering to meet your own.
"Yes, please...Jesse"
You felt a little shy at how desperate you sounded, but your dear lover always had a knack for making the strange noises bubble for-
"H-hey...!" you huffed softly, feeling your cheeks burn hotter
You gasped loudly at the feel of his tongue pressed against your core.
Jesse only chuckled, sending the vibrations right through your delicate skin and to the deep seated pool of want within you. With one hand squeezing your hip gently and the other holding down a leg by your thigh - keeping you wide for him, he set to work.
Tongue lavishing you, tasting and swirling about your aching sex, Jesse moaned softly into you. Only to pull away the tiniest bit, to meet your gaze. Already his face had collected the evidence of his efforts.
"You really do taste as sweet as sugar" he then bit your thigh, pressing a soft kiss to it right away
You whined and writhed, needing him. Your hands shot up to pull him closer, but he elluded you with a teasing grin
"How long do you think you can last this time...~?"
You went to shoot back a jab of your own, about how long he'd last...but he was quick to dive right back down and unleash a cacophony of sinful sounds from your already flushed form.

A Jealous Confession
masterlist
Relationships: Echo x Female!Reader, Wrecker x Female!Reader (platonically)
Warnings: a little angsty but fluff, idiots in love trope, not really any other warnings that I can think of
Word count: a little over 1.5k
Summary: Echo experiences jealousy after seeing you walking with Wrecker.
Author’s note: This is my second work. I feel like Echo doesn’t get enough love :( He deserves so much love <3 Feel free to request anything for any of the clones. I’m working on a few other works that will hopefully be up soon. Feel free to leave feed back as well.
Tumblr media
It has been a long day for everyone. While walking back to the Marauder after a running another job for Cid, Echo finds himself quarreling with his own thoughts. His entire body aches, but that’s not what is bothering him.
Echo doesn’t understand it. Laughs spill from your mouth as you walk side by side with Wrecker.
What could possibly be so funny that she can’t stop laughing?
He feels a pressure in his chest. He can’t explain it. He doesn’t understand why the mere presence of Wrecker being next to her is making him feel angry. Not only is it enraging him, it’s making him sad. The thought of her laughing because of him of all things.
Echo walks at the back of the group watching what is transpiring. He feels guilty. He shouldn’t feel this way, especially when he knows that Wrecker has no feelings for her.
Especially because she isn’t mine.
“Why don’t you just tell her how you feel?” Hunter says from next to him. Maker, he must really be thinking if he didn’t realize he had walked to the back.
“What are you talking about?” Echo thinks he has hidden it so well. He doesn’t want to talk about this now, not with her so close by, and certainly not when he is so confused.
“It’s so obvious how you feel about her. If you weren’t so blind you would see that she feels the same way.” Echo looks at Hunter in shock. It’s one thing for him to not be good at hiding his feelings, but there’s no way that she has any type of feelings for him.
Why would he say something like that, though?
“I don’t feel any type of way about her. She’s our medic, our friend too. It would just be wrong and I don’t want to treat her that way.” A lie. Hunter knows it. Everyone knows it. They have all seen the way he looks at her. It’s so obvious to everyone, but not her.
As they arrive back at the ship, Hunter drops the conversation. Tech walks right to the cockpit with Crosshair following behind him, while Wrecker holds your hand as you walk step into the Marauder. Echo’s heart drops in his chest. Hunter is standing there looking at him with a face that can only say ‘I told you so.’ He begins to realize exactly why everyone can see that he has feelings for her.
“Please go talk to her. I don’t want to see you both pining over each other anymore. You both are di’kuts and this has been going on for too long.”
Echo decides that maybe Hunter is right. It is time to confess. He’s been keeping it in for far way too much time already. Especially after hearing Hunter say that she feels the same. Echo walks into the ship only to then see you still holding Wrecker’s hand, but now while sitting together. You both are still laughing together. He can’t hear what you both are talking about over the anger and sadness that he is feeling. That’s when he loses it. Echo turns around and goes to his bunk. He doesn’t realize that you saw him. You look at Wrecker only to see him looking right back at you.
“That was weird. Do you think he’s ok?” you say quietly, hoping that Echo can’t hear you. The last thing you want to do is upset him if nothing was wrong.
“I think you should go talk to him,” Wrecker says quietly. You feel bad to leave him in the middle of your conversation, but you just can’t help the way you feel for Echo.
You smile at Wrecker and get up. You start to get nervous at the thought of being alone in the same room as Echo. It’s hard to speak around him, words getting jumbled at every moment. He has no idea how he makes you feel. He doesn’t know you hold feelings for him. You can feel you heart beating faster as you approach the door.
Can Hunter hear how fast my heart is beating?
You open the door and notice all the lights still off. You say his name quietly, not wanting to disturb him if he has fallen asleep already. You find him curled up in his bunk. You can tell he is still awake after memorizing the way he sleeps after being with all of them for so long.
“Echo, are you ok? I don’t mean to disturb you if you wanted to be alone or have a moment of peace, but I needed to make sure you were ok.” You say quietly, hoping that he isn’t going to push you away.
He doesn’t respond at first. You start to think he is ignoring you, until he turns over. He looks mad.
“Why don’t you go back out there with Wrecker?” He doesn’t mean to snap. He feels bad the moment he does. He just can’t get this feeling out of his head. He’s jealous. He wants to be the one holding your hand while you laugh at whatever he’s saying. He just wants to be yours.
I’ll never be good enough for her.
I’m more machine than man.
She doesn’t like me. She probably like Wrecker.
“I want to make sure you are ok.” The hurt is evident in your voice. Why would he say something like that? It starts to click in your head.
Is he jealous?
“Can I ask why you walked away from all of us?”
He doesn’t respond. He doesn’t know what to say. This is his worst nightmare. He doesn’t want to face rejection right now. It would be the worst thing to happen since Skako Minor. He just wants her to leave so he can be alone. But he also wants her to climb into his bunk and lay next to him. He wants to feel her arms wrapped around him. He wants to feel her laying against his chest.
When he doesn’t respond, you start to get worried you have offended him in some type of way. He’s been through so much already; you don’t want to make it even worse for him. But part of you wants to keep pressing him, to get him to confess to liking you. You know it’s not going to happen, but one could hope. With a sigh, you stand up. As you are about to walk away, Echo grabs your wrist.
“I’m sorry… I just saw you… with Wrecker… and I had to walk away…” Echo stops himself from fully confessing. It’s already embarrassing enough that he said all of that, the last thing he needs to do is admit to being in love with you.
“Echo, I have feelings for you.”
Everything stops. Echo feels his breathing stop. He feels like his heart is going to beat out of his chest. He starts to believe this is some dream his mind has conjured up to give him some relief. Or possibly it’s going to turn into a nightmare. He realizes it is real when you go to pull your hand away from him. How long had he been sitting there just staring, not responding. You go to walk away again to save yourself from embarrassing yourself any further, but once again he grabs your hand.
“Wait, I’m sorry for not saying anything. I just didn’t expect you to say that. Maker, I feel like such a di’kut right now. Did you really mean what you said?” You nod and he continues. “I have feelings for you too. I have for a long time. I’m sorry for snapping, I just thought you wanted to be with Wrecker. You looked so happy sitting with him”
“I love Wrecker like a brother, it could never be anything other than that. Besides, he’s not you. He doesn’t make me happy in the way that you do.”
Echo feels himself start to blush. He didn’t even think he could anymore. All of those nights spent wanting you to be besides him could have been avoided. He wishes he listened to Hunter earlier.
“Will you come lay with me?” Echo feels himself getting anxious that you will say no, even after you just confessed.
You nod and climb into his bunk with him. Its not very big, there is hardly enough room for both of you, but it is still worth it. He feels so warm against you. you can feel his accelerated heart rate, just as he can feel yours.
The rest of the night is spent telling each other all of your feelings, from the very start to the little things he does that make you happy. You spend the night laughing and smiling with him. You both fall asleep in each other’s arms, a perfect way to end the night.
 Bonus:
Tech says good night to Hunter and Wrecker as he will be taking the first watch. Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair walk to their bunks, both assuming you’ve both fallen asleep. Hunter walks in first, only to stop in the door way, noticing that your bunk is empty. He looks to the left only to find you and Echo wrapped around each other.
“It’s about time,” Wrecker announces from behind him, having seen them due to being taller than Hunter. Crosshair laughs quietly as he walks in, hoping he doesn’t wake them. They deserve each other.
Hunter smiles to himself and walks to his bunk. He’s glad he doesn’t have to see them look at each other like two di’kuts in love anymore.

“Echo, watch out!” you shout while pushing your full weight against him, knocking him away.
The loud blast leaves Echo in a daze and makes his ears ring. As he comes to, he sees you laying on the ground and rushes to your side. He gathers you up in his arms and checks to make sure you are alright.
“Don’t you ever do that again!” Echo exclaims. He gently grabs your hand and places it against his cheek.
“I will do it a hundred times more if it means I get to see your face,” you whisper before passing out.

Congratulations on the 270 followers!
Here’s my request. TCW Echo, the number 4, and 🥰.
Thank you so much and congratulations again!
Prompt: Hey, you’re safe. I’ve gotcha.
Warnings: reader injury, pain, got a little carried away with describing the wound…Echo is a precious baby. Use of alcohol internally and externally (to treat a wound)
Whiskey (Echo x Reader)
You clenched your teeth together in an attempt to keep them from chattering as the frigid wind whipped around you.
The slugthrower had been far enough away that it hadn’t gone straight through, but there was still a nice bloody wound in your side.
“Easy, Mesh'la.” Echo murmured as you writhed in pain. The poor arc trooper was so distraught over you as he frantically searched for something to quell, or at the very least bandage the bleeding. Kix was too far away and the comms were down.
"I need to fold your uniform jacket back to work on the wound." He said, brows knit together in concern. You gave him permission with a slight nod of your head.
You whimpered as the ice cold air stung the raw skin and muscle that was now exposed.
"E...ech...ho," you stuttered, reaching for his arm. Fresh tears were pooling in your eyes.
"Hey, you’re safe. I’ve gotcha, Mesh'la."
He reached into one of his belt pouches and produced a flask. He handed it to you first, so you threw a shot back.
The liquid tasted terrible, like starfighter fuel mixed with flamestarter fluid. You choked it down, but shoved the flask back towards Echo and wiped your lips with the back of your hand.
"Kriff, Echo! What the hell is that stuff?" You cried, throat and tongue burning with the horrible liquor.
"Bootlegged whiskey that some of the boys made. It hasn't killed anyone yet but I only keep it on me for stuff like this."
"Like wha—" you cut yourself off with a cry, palms digging into the icy rock next to you. It felt like you were burning from the inside, the liquid stinging your bloody flesh.
"I'm so sorry, Mesh'la." He cooed, pressing some cloth onto the wound and leaning forward to kiss your temple. He'd have to explain himself later but your cries were breaking his heart and he didn't know what else to do.
"You keep calling me that." You muttered, tears slipping from the corners of your eyes. "What does it mean?"
He sighed. "Beautiful. Its mando'a."
Your heart jumped. "You think I'm beautiful?"
"You're bleeding out on an ice planet and I am praying to whoever that you make it so I can ask you out on a date. Its more than that."
Both of you sat in shock. He hasn't meant to say all of that, and you certainly hadn't expected it. He waited patiently for your response.
"If I make it out of here, I'm buying you some good whiskey. And that date. I wanna do that." You muttered, leaning into his side for warmth.
He smiled against your temple. "Well then, Mesh'la, will you go on a date with me?"
"Yeah." You whispered. "I'd love that."

Each day, Jesse keeps his eye on you terrified of the person who's taken your place. This is year that everything changes for the better, but that can only happen if you let it.

Camp Resolute Masterlist
ClonexReader Masterlist
Prompt: party For @clonexreaderbingo event hosted by the lovely Ghost.
Counselor Note: Purely self indulgent. I just needed to put my emotions, or as much as I could, onto paper with how my birthday came about this year. Could be read as romantic or as platonic soulmates.
Tumblr media
No matter how many times the 501st has stepped foot into the GAR’s barracks on Coruscant, everyone feels uneasy as they begin to slowly unpacked their mud caked and blood stained gear. Even though the battle was a success, an imperative one at that, your shoulders ache from the tension that weighs down on them. It seeps into your fatigued body and finds its home in your tired bones. Everyday you woke up this month, a knot of dread twisted and sank deeper into your core at the distant memory of your approaching birthday.
As you place your datapad on your side table, your gaze locks onto the date displayed alongside the weather and music options on your holo-chronometer. Your heart lurches, and you feel as if you’re going to be sick. Just two more days until you ignore the previous year’s stinging memories. Just two more days until the dash of hope that holds your heart together snaps. Just two more days until you treat your birthday like it’s any other day of the year. Nothing special. Nothing worth celebrating, especially when you’re all alone.
Your lungs constrict, and you force yourself to finish placing the last pieces of clothing and tactical gear in their designated spots before laying down on your bunk. With a groan, you rest your head on your arms and close your eyes as the rest of the 501st begin to plan their nights out on leave.
“Fives, we always go 79s. We’re not saying we don’t want to go, we just want to visit some new spots as well,” Echo exasperatedly explains as he kicks his duffel under the bunk.
“This is the first time that the 212th, 104th, and 501st have been planetside in who knows how long,” Fives exclaims and throws his hands up, “And you want to choose now to go to a new bar? No way - we’re going to 79s as much as we can during this leave”.
“No one’s saying they can’t come, di’kut,” Kix throws one of his black tops at Fives with a grin.
“Who would have thought Fives would be the one to shoot down the possibility of meeting new partners,” Jesse chuckles as he sits on the edge of his bunk. As he leans over to unbuckle his boots, his gaze falls on your bunk. The gnawing concern that’s grown as the month’s progressed overtakes his mind as you seem completely detached from reality. Desperate to pull you away from whatever dark place your mind travels to as of recent, Jesse calls out your name.
Deep in your journey through memories locked away in the back of your mind, a sharp sting of adrenaline causes your eyes to fly open and your heart to race as you shoot up in panic. Your gaze snaps to the pillow sitting in your lap. Forcing yourself to take a deep breath, you shake off the residual nerves settling across your skin as you narrow your gaze to search for the guilty culprit. When you look across from you, it only takes Jesse’s mischievous smile to know who threw the pillow at you. “Not funny,” you breathe out and throw the pillow back at him. You try to let yourself relax, but you can’t find it in yourself to put the mask back on.
Jesse catches the pillow with ease, and his expression softens lightly when he truly sees how solemn you look. “Got any plans we could crash?” he asks with a slight hope in his casual tone. Jesse’s chest stings as watches you practically curl into yourself. What happened to lose the spark he’s come to adore and associate with you?
“Probably just disconnect and hide out at my apartment,” you mumble and shrug your shoulders.
“You can’t do nothing on your time off,” Fives gently protests. His expression hardens into one of worry as the discussion shifts to your plans. Everyone in the company has noticed your change in demeanor and energy, and every member has voiced their concern to Rex who wasn’t able to figure out the root of your change. Even the collected captain keeps a wary eye out for you more than usual lately.
“Come join us,” Kix adds on, “I know you’re probably sick of spending all your time with us, but we promise to be on our best behavior”. He chuckles lightly, but it soon dies as Kix sees your lip wobble.
“I’m not in the party mood,” you firmly state. Your voice wavers as tears sting your lash line. As the last of your walls start to crumble as tears threaten to fall, you jump off your bed and grab your backpack as you hurry for the door. Guilt mixes with sorrow to create a nauseating sensation in the pit of your stomach as you leave the barracks without another word.
As the door hisses shut, the members of the 501st are surrounded by an uncomfortable blanket of silence. One that gnaws at Jesse’s nerves and sends his heart racing. Unable to pull his surprised gaze from the barracks entrance, he chews on the inside of his cheek.
“That’s a completely different person than the one we’re friends with,” Heavy quietly murmurs.
“Regardless,” Jesse says slowly as he snaps his boot buckle, “still our friend. There’s only one person that I can think of that knows them better than us”. Grabbing his comlink, Jesse walks towards the barrack’s entrance while tuning into their assistant medic’s private channel. “Kiva? Where abouts are you?” Only static responds of a second, and Jesse’s lungs constrict as he passes through the door.
The chances that the medic has already left the base are slim, but still high enough to make Jesse walk faster through the durasteel halls. His heart hammers as his footsteps echo against the metal plated floors. Check the civvie barracks first, then the medic station. Take the slightly longer route to the medbay and check the entry-exit log at the base’s entrance. Jesse’s mind races to figure out how to find the Nautolan medic that he barely hears the call chirp to his comlink.
“Kriff, Jesse - can’t a guy take a nap in peace. Not even an hour planetside and one of you already needs med attention? Give us a break,” Kiva sighs through the audio channel.
“Kiva,” Jesse breathes out in relief, “Where are you? This isn’t about med attention. I’m worried about-”
“Leave it alone, Jesse,” Kiva swiftly interrupts.
Jesse falters at the medic’s harsh tone. Coming to a stand still, Jesse leans against one of the support pillars. “What do you mean leave it alone? Something’s not right,” he pushes back. Frustration begins to spark in his voice as Jesse scans the hallway to find somewhere more private to take this call. Kiva’s evasiveness causes an uneasy feeling to bite at Jesse’s skin. A moment of silence passes, and just as Jesse goes to check the call connection he hears Kiva sigh.
“It’s like this every year,” Kiva explains, “The month leading up to what’s supposed to be a birthday, it’s like they shut down. Right? I don't know what happened for it to get like this. Each year, they disappear to their apartment and won’t come out until a couple of days later”.
As the medic shares his limited knowledge, Jesse’s expression hardens into one mixed with confusion and worry. With a spark of determination, a plan begins to form in his mind, and a smile tugs at Jesse’s mouth. “Then I’ll need your help if we’re going to pull this off. When’s their birthday?”
“I don’t know if that’s a good idea, Jesse,” Kiva hesitates. “We don’t know why-”
“If you felt the same about a day that’s supposed to be about celebrating you and all you’ve achieved this year, wouldn’t you want someone to go the extra mile and celebrate with you? Know that someone loves you so much that they'll celebrate you even when you feel like it’s worthless?”
The comlink falls silent for a moment. All Jesse can hear is air ventilation willing above him and the dull rush of blood to his ears. His body tenses as the seconds come to a stand still, and he balances on the edge of anticipation and false hope.
“Then we’re going to need all the help we can get with only two days to plan and prep,” Kiva states with a determined laugh. “How can I help?”
“I need a key to the apartment, and you need to act as a distraction. Leave the rest to me and the boys,” Jesse rushes to explain. The stoney expression melts into one of relief as Jesse turns on his heel to rejoin the rest of the company.
Kiva’s static laughter echoes against the sterile halls, “I’ll send you the keycode in a little bit. Why do I get the hardest job?”
Jesse’s smile grows as he responds, “Because you’ll draw the least amount of suspicion”.
The minute you step foot into your cozy, city apartment you feel the last of your walls crumble. As the entrance door hisses shut behind you, you hastily throw your bag to the side of the entryway. Tears flow down your cheek while you furiously rub them away while walking through the dark living room to turn into your bedroom. Your head spins as a mixture of overwhelming emotions causes a dull throb to sear at the back of your forehead. Just a few more days until you could move on from the choke hold that past disappointments have on you. Tugging off your well worn travel clothes, the fabric snags and refuses to slip off your body causing a wave of frustration to crash against your skull alongside your headache. With a defeated sob, you toss your clothing to the side and fall on top of your bed. Unable to hold back your cries as you tug the duvet over your body and tuck yourself away from reality.
The next two days are filled with excited chatter and lethargic depression. Each hour passes, ticking closer and closer to the anticipated birthday. Time blurs as party planning brings together some of the most well respected commanding officers during the day and bleeds into the night when lungs cry out for relief against the chain that wraps around them to lock away a broken heart.
Late morning sunbeams break past your blinds, and you toss and turn in your blanket cocoon. Unwilling to pull yourself from semi-consciousness, you burrow further into the covers. Your under eyes feel sore and puffy as you press your face into a pillow. Stretching your aching muscles, you faintly hear the alarm disarm with the door opening. Even though that should send you into alertness, the thick blanket of numbness dulls your senses.
“Kriff,” Kiva quietly mutters.
“It’s not usually this bad,” you groan. You wince at the realization that your room is a complete mess, even by your standards. “I thought I told you I wanted to recharge alone. Finally enjoy some peace and quiet,” you mumble into your duvet.
The edge of your bed dips, and your body slides against Kiva’s. A gentle hand comes down to rest on what can only be assumed as your shoulder under the mounds of blankets and sheets. “One of the intelligence officers landed in the medbay,” Kiva sighs, “Captain Rex has requested for you to come in as soon as possible. We just intercepted a new set of Separatist codes”.
The weight of his words sinks into you with a churning unease and defeat. Even though your birthday comes with mixed emotions, you had hoped to at least avoid working on the dreaded day. “I need some time to wake up and get dressed,” you quietly reply, “Might as well put on a pot of caf for us while you wait”.
Minutes crawl by as Jesse keeps a careful eye on the apartment’s entrance. Excitement and nerves bounce around inside him as he waits for the two of you to exit. Every so often, his comlink chirps with someone eagerly asking for an update.
“How much longer,” Fives complains over the channel frequency.
“Maybe if you grew up a little, you’ll realize it’s normal for people to take their time to get ready. Especially when called into an unexpected shift on shore leave,” Jesse hisses in response. His gaze flickers up from his comlink as the entrance signal chimes, and he steps into the side alley. Peering around the corner, Jesse watches as you and Kiva step into your speeder and a new wave of determination washes over him.
When your speeder pulls away from the platform and disappears into the flow of traffic, Jesse wastes no time getting to the entrance and punching in the visitor code. “Alright, Fives. Bring everyone in,” Jesse signals his brother as he walks through the lobby. “We don’t have much time until Rex and Kiva bring our ad’ika back in a worse mood than when they left”. Jesse cuts off the call as his brothers shout in excitement, and he steps into the elevator that shoots him up to your apartment level. His gaze stays fixed on the level indicator, and nervous jitters make him tap his foot. There’s no reason for this to go wrong, but the gnawing fear of crossing an unspoken line makes Jesse’s stomach twist. He doesn’t want to become one of the reasons you hate your birthday in the future. The elevator ding jolts him out of his thoughts and causes his heart to pound against his chest. There’s no going back. Determined to show you just how many people care for you, Jesse steps into the hallway and rushes to your apartment.
“You really don’t need to walk me home,” you quietly break the thick silence surrounding you and Rex.
The night sky begins to tuck away the blazing sunset behind the city skyline. Your footsteps fall in time with Rex’s creating a metallic beat as you near your apartment building. After having spent the afternoon decoding messages with dated intel with Rex, you finally shut off your holo-top for the evening. The searing pain that’s throbbed between your eyes for the last few days now drums against your skull. The thought of breaking a cypher only to lead to more disappointment makes your head spiral, so you told Rex you were done as you packed your bag. Concerned with how late it had become, the captain had insisted on walking you home when you found out Kiva already left for the evening.
Evening traffic speeds past you as the two of you walk across the platform from where you parked your speeder to the building’s entrance. Your apartment building looms above you, and you punch in the resident code. The cool temperature eases the burning sensations that stings at your skin as the two of you enter. Even through your emotional fatigue, something hasn’t sat right with you since Kiva first visited this morning.
“It’s not even that late out,” you point out. Out of the corner of your eye, you see Rex stiffen as he shifts his weight from one foot to another. Wariness overcomes you and sharpens your senses from the lethargic haze that you’ve grown used to.
Rex ducks his head and sighs. “You haven’t been yourself lately,” he slowly explains. Without giving you the chance to interrupt, Rex punches the elevator call button.
The sudden noise makes you wince, and your heart speeds up. Why would he care so much? “It’s not healthy to put on a facade. I’ll at least do myself the favor of not bottling up my emotions and pretending like I’m okay when I’m not”. Your voice wavers as he motions for you to enter first. When you move into the small elevator, Rex quickly joins you. Your eyebrows raise, and you press your floor button. The wariness shoots pin pricks at the back of your neck.
“Seems like you’re hiding from the people who actually care about you and want to help you feel like yourself again,” Rex’s words come out harsher than either of you expect. His eyes widen, and his gaze snaps to meet your own. “I’m sorry,” he stammers, “That came out sharper than I meant”. Rex sighs and runs a hand over his face.
Your heartbeat pounds against your chest, and you feel sick from the flush that’s overcome your body. Grateful for the floor chime, you exhale a breath of relief and  step out of the elevator. “It’s fine,” you cooly dismiss his apology. When the sound of his footsteps follow you out into the hall, your face pinches. “Rex, I promise I’m not upset with you,” you practically snap. The firmness in your voice mixes with the frustration that overheats you and the desperation to be finished with this awful day. Heart thundering as you stand in front of your apartment door, you lock your heated gaze onto Rex. Yet, confusion only spurs your temperament further when you catch the faint, sad smile on the captain’s face.
“Maybe not yet, at least. Happy birthday, ad’ika,” Rex softly responds.
Your hand shakes hovering above the keypad. A coldness freezes over your body, and the overwhelming sharp dullness of flush sizzling across your skin makes you dizzy. Unable to meet Rex’s concerned expression, you turn away and hastily punch in your code. As soon as the door hisses open, you dart into your apartment desperate to hide away and allow yourself the comfort to let your emotions out in privacy. Rubbing at your eyes furiously and blinking away threatening tears, you walk through the entryway and throw your bag to the ground. Fleeting memories and a headache pound against your skull, and you feel as if the room’s spinning. With one hand, you press the light panel and a soft mix of colored lights float across the walls.
“Happy birthday!” a chorus of voices call out.
You jump back, tripping on your footing. A careful hand steadies you from behind, and you lean into Rex’s hold as your shocked gaze bounces from troopers to friends to family clustered in your small living room. When you try to speak, only a small noise breaks past your disbelief.
“Alright, alright,” Jesse motions for everyone to relax, “You’ll have a chance to chat with our guest of honor later. Let’s let them get used to this”. When he drops his palms to his sides, his palms feel sweaty. Every breath he takes feels shallow, and his lungs begs for air. Unfortunately for him, the little oxygen circulating through him escapes when Jesse turns to see your glassy eye expression. The way you shy away into Rex’s side as your eyes scan the room makes his heart stutter. Walking over to you, Jesse flexes his fists before hooking his thumbs into his pants’ pockets. “I’m sure this is a lot, but we just wanted to make sure you celebrated yourself,” Jesse softly explains.
Your wide eyes meet Jesse’s compassionate gaze, and you feel as if a weight has been lifted from your shoulders. “Did you plan this? This is too much. You should all be out enjoying your time off,” you rush. Even you hear how watery and strained your voice sounds. Rex’s traces soothing circles into your side, and the tension slowly releases from your body.
One of Jesses’ hands comes up to rub the back of his neck, and he breaks away from your gaze. “Everyone put this together. Rex, Wolffe, and Cody were massive a help in making sure all your friends and family got here. And then your 501st boys got the supplies ready. Really it was Kiva who pulled it off by getting you out of the apartment today,” Jesse rambles on and trips over his words, “Which, I am so sorry you had to do fake work. No one should work on their birthday, especially you. You already do so much for us, but we didn’t know how else to get you to leave so we could set up -”
Your lip wobbles as you listen to Jesse’s stumbling explanation. Without hesitation, you step forward and wrap your arms around his waist. Leaning your head on his chest, you feel his heartbeat quicken under your blushing cheek.
A hand gently rubs your shoulder, “And to answer your question, Jesse did plan this. Got all of us organized and made sure all your party felt comfortable and relaxed so you wouldn’t feel too overwhelmed”. He squeezes your shoulder, and you hear Rex call out to his batchmates with a chuckle.
Fully expecting for your cozy apartment to have been turned into a temporary 79s location, you relax as you look around the room to see your closest people lounging and laughing together. Lofi plays softly just above the chatter and occasional laugh. A small collection of gifts sit next to your favorite birthday treat on the center table. Fairy lights twinkle from above, and you’ve never felt more at home than you have at this moment. Normally just a place to find solace and solitude when you’re on shore leave, your apartment finally feels alive as your friends listen to your squad’s stories and your family checks each trooper to make sure they’re well taken care of.
“This is -” your words break off as a sudden sob overcomes you. Your throat tightens, and tears sting at your lash line. The burden of so many difficult memories bubbles up, and you finally allow yourself to let go of them. Tears stream down your cheeks, and your lips feel chapped as they kiss the corner of your mouth. Each droplet leaves a bittersweet taste to your tongue as they melt away. Your heart hammers against your chest, and it feels as if it’s going to break from just how much love has been returned. Lifting your blurry gaze, you faintly make out Jesse’s soft adoring expression as you share a grateful smile with his small one. “Thank you.” you say as firmly as you with a shaky breath.
“I don’t know if I overstepped, so I’m incredibly sorry if I did,” Jesse quietly begins, “I just couldn’t sit and watch you disappear from us. Once I knew what was making you so … broken, I couldn’t let you spend another birthday alone.” Jesse tightens his arms around you, and his hands tremble as he presses you closer to him. His stomach knots from your grateful expression, and it twists as he watches another tear fall across your cheek. With one hand, Jesse carefully wipes it away letting his fingertip gently graze your cheekbone before cupping your jaw. His chest constricts as you lean into his palm. “Even if it meant you didn’t want me in your  life anymore for intruding, I didn’t want you to think that no one didn’t want to celebrate you and your accomplishments. All of your boys have been concerned, and we just wanted to bring back our ad’ika,” Jesse mumbles.
Fear isn’t an emotion that Jesse’s allowed himself to dwell on many times. Nerves prick his skin at the thought that this could be the last time you ever wanted to see him. That he had only hurt you more than he helped you. Wherever your mind takes you on those dark journeys inward, that you’ll remember tonight alongside the other heartbreaks. That terrifiesJesse most. But this isn’t about him. He would have to learn to go about his day without looking for you in the room, and maybe one day he could forget about how natural it is for his mind to wander to thoughts about you. So when the moment your hands come up to cup his face with a touch so soft, it nearly makes him sigh, Jesse feels all the growing anxiety and gnawing fear dissipate from him.
You shake your head with a watery laugh, “I don’t think I could push you away even if I tried hard enough.”
“I would just keep reaching out to you until I caught you,” Jesse softly agrees, “I’m not letting you slip through my fingers, ad’ika.” Even as Jesse relaxes and pulls the two to lean against the wall as a way to try to keep your conversation away from the others, a concern tugs at the back of his mind. Unable to shake it off, Jesse’s soft expression hardens slightly with worry. “Just tell me if I’m overstepping or if you don’t want to talk about it. What happened that made your birthday something to avoid rather than look forward to?”
Heart plummeting, you feel relieved that he finally asked. You can’t tell if it's a relief that neither of you are walking around it anymore or that you can finally tell someone how you feel about the day. Your hands slip from his face, and you rest them on his chest. The steady rise and fall of his breathing helps ground you as your mind races. “It just … turned into another day,” you admit. “It felt like I was being pushed to the side as other birthdays were planned well in advance while I had to practically beg for one friend to do something with me. It got to a point where it didn’t feel like anyone cared about me. And I had to carry that sadness and grief as I celebrated everyone else’s accomplishments”. Your voice breaks into a sob, and Jesse pulls you as close as the two of you can. Tucking your head into him, you try to take deep breaths to calm yourself but all the emotions of the past month finally catch up and crash down onto you.
Jesse ducks his head so his mouth is close to your ear, and his comforting voice drops so only you can hear him. “I am so incredibly proud of you, ad’ika. This year alone, you’ve been challenged in ways that not many people could overcome with the determination and grace that you have. Everyone in this room sees that, and they absolutely adore you. When they heard it was your birthday, everyone jumped at the chance to celebrate you and show you their love, alright? As long as you let us, we will support you however you need. Just give us the word, and we’ll be there for you. I’ll be there for you”.
Pulling away, Jesse brings both his hands up to wipe away the new wave of tears slipping down your face. His caring expression causes butterflies to tickle your stomach. “‘Thank you,” you choke out.
Jesse shakes his head with a smile, “Anything for you, ad’ika. I am afraid however, I may have kept you to myself a little longer than the rest of the party would have liked”. His eyes twinkle with a mischievous glint.
Pulling away, Jesse offers his arm with a cheeky wink that causes you to laugh easier than you have in a long while. As the two of you join your friends and family, each person makes it a point to wish you a happier year to come. Surrounded by so many people who went out of their way to celebrate your birthday, you find a small flicker of hope that next year will hold more laughter and love. Especially when you catch Jesse’s eye, and his expression melts into one of admiration only meant for you.

—————
How many agonizing rotations had passed since that soul wrenching day? The day where Fives and Rex showed up at your door, armor still dirty, faces stained with tears to tell you Echo was gone. Rex hadn’t known about you before that day. Fives had to tell him when Rex caught him trying to sneak out of the Coruscant barracks to go see you. Rex insisted he come too. It was only right that their commanding officer be there for the delivery of the news, he’d said. You still felt guilty that your first meeting with your lover’s captain that he’d held in such high esteem had been the one so raw with emotion. When you opened your door to the knock your stomach sank. Seeing Fives there with Rex and no Echo? You knew something was wrong immediately.
“Miss, I am Captain Rex of the 501st. I am so sorry to have to tell you this but there was an incident on our most recent mission. ARC Trooper Echo sacrificed himself honorably and bravely for our team. He is a hero. ARC Trooper Fives tells me you two were…close. We wanted to tell you the news in person.” Your scream echoed through the halls of your apartment building as you collapsed to the permacrete floor, gripping the doorframe in a desperate attempt to ground yourself. You’d been a wailing mess as they escorted you inside to your sofa. You begged him to be lying, to be wrong, there was a mistake. Not your Echo. Please not your Echo.
—————
Fives took it upon himself to check in on you regularly. Echo had shared plans for your future with him. Plans he hadn’t even told you about yet. Marriage, kids, all of it. That made you as good as married already in Fives’ mind and he’d promised his brother he’d keep you safe should anything happen. You’d laughed when he told you how shocked he’d been when Echo told him about you. His brother knew his reg manuals inside and out and there he was confessing he had a very against regulations girlfriend? Fives was so proud. You made Fives laugh when you told him that Echo still enjoyed reading those reg manuals out loud to you for fun.
—————
How many gut wrenching rotations had passed since Rex had to show up to your door again? This time alone to tell you about Fives. You’d lost count of those too. Fives had been your rock, your brother, and your friend after losing Echo. When the pain was so much you couldn’t manage it, Fives would send you holograms recounting his favorite memories of Echo. You’d send the same back. He’d take you out for caf every time he was on Coruscant. Somehow it helped. It felt like you were keeping him alive somehow. And then Fives was gone. All that were left were the holorecordings Echo left you. He’d send them before and after every mission and during regular intervals on deployment. Some days you still did nothing but lay in bed and watch them, over and over. To see his face. To hear his voice.
Hey there mesh’la. Shipping out tomorrow. Just wanted to let you know I’ll be dark on coms until we’re done. Can’t wait to hold you again. Dinner last night was fantastic! Thank you. I’ll cook for you next time.
Cyar’ika. We’re back aboard the Resolute. I am safe and no worse for wear. I thought of you every moment I was on that Maker forsaken Separatist stink hole. I adore you. I hope you’re sleeping well right now. Your voice will be a melody to my ears when I hear back from you.
Cyare, Fives bet Hardcase ten credits that he wouldn’t do a backflip off the bunks tonight. Kix says it would have turned out a lot worse had the Captain not walked in at the same time and broken Hardcase’s fall. They’ll be in med bay for a couple of days and now Fives has ‘fresher duty. Completely worth it. Miss you my sweet sarad. Only four more rotations until I can have you in my arms again.
I know I just left your apartment, my darling. But I still wanted to send you this. This mission is different. It feels different. It’s dangerous and even though we’ve trained endlessly it is also unpredictable. I want you to know you have my whole heart for my whole life and beyond. In the unlikely chance I don’t make it out this time, I love you. Ni kar’tayli gar darasuum.
That last one always brought you to tears; his final message to you. Echo was always the epitome of calm, cool, and collected. He rarely outwardly shared unease. Had he been uneasy when he left you, his kiss still burning on your lips?
—————
You’d watched the hologram from Rex at least a dozen times.
I believe Echo is alive. I’m going to get him back. I’ll send you another holo when I have more information.
That was all he said. It had been waiting for you after a long day at work. You hadn’t received any messages since Echo’s last so you were surprised to see one waiting for you. It had left you shaking, hoping, praying to whatever cosmic force that would listen. There was no amount of credits you would have paid to get Echo back. If you thought it would have brought him back you would have robbed the Banking Clan blind. You would have stolen from the Hutts. Nothing would have stopped you. And now it was a possibility. So you waited. And waited.
Then it happened. Your comlink buzzed and you nearly dropped it while trying to answer, “Yes, Rex? Rex?” You didn’t bother trying to conceal the eagerness in your voice. “Yes, it’s me. We found him. We found Echo. He’s alive. But he’s…been through a lot. The Techno Union they…well you’ll understand when you see him. He looks a little different than the last time you saw him. He and his new squad are en route to Kamino to have their doctors give him a once over. I’ve arranged for his sergeant to bring him to see you ASAP. Sergeant Hunter of Clone Force 99. He’s a good man. It was his squad, myself, and General Skywalker that extracted Echo.” Your voice quivered, “Thank you, Rex. Thank you.” You could hear the smile in Rex’s voice, “He’s my friend. My brother. It was my duty to bring him back. Thank you for loving him too.” You squeezed your eyes shut and covered your mouth to muffle the joyous sobs you couldn’t hold back. “I know our relationship is,” you managed between hiccuping breaths, “against regulations…” “I won’t breathe a word of it to anyone. Just try to be discreet please.” You laughed, something in Rex’s tone told you this wasn’t the only secret relationship he was hiding from the GAR. “Utmost discretion captain,” you giggled, “to be fair you had no idea about us before.” Rex chuckled, “That is true. Well I’ll be seeing you around then. Best wishes. To you both.” “Thank you again, Rex. Goodbye.”
—————
The waiting was almost bearable this time. You knew you were waiting for him to come home to you now. Would he remember you? Would he love you still? Even if he didn’t, he was alive. That’s all you cared about. When that fateful knock on your door finally came, you were ready for whatever would be waiting on the other side.
“Hello miss.”
“You must be Sergeant Hunter,” you noticed how different he looked from the other clones you’d met and remembered Rex’s description of unconventional.
“I am. It’s a pleasure. Corporal Echo has told me so much about you.” His presence was kind and reassuring.
“Corporal?”
“Yes, he’s the Hero of Anaxes. Earned himself a nice promotion.”
You beamed, ever proud of your beloved Echo, “Where is he?”
Echo stepped out from around the corner, helmet tucked under his right arm, still wearing a kama just in black now instead of the 501st blue and white, “Hello mesh’la.”
You were awestruck as your stomach nearly somersaulted out of your chest. Rex was right, he did look different. But you’d know your Echo anywhere. Those were his eyes looking at you with trepidation and love, that was his voice calling you beautiful, those were his lips that you’ve dreamed about every single night. You choked back a sob and leapt into his arms. He stumbled slightly, clearly taken aback by your reaction. He only hesitated a heartbeat before wrapping his left arm around you. He was home.
“I’ll leave you two to it,” Hunter softly said as a smile crossed his face. “Echo, we leave at 0500 tomorrow. I’ll see you on the Marauder then. Have a great evening.”
—————
You pulled back and waved to Hunter as you dragged Echo inside. You stood for a moment drinking him in. He closed his eyes as you silently ran your fingertips over every inch of his exposed skin. You heard his breath hitch as you brushed down his neck and along his lips. A smile crept across them as he broke the silence, “This was not the reaction I had anticipated.” You caressed his cheek, “And what reaction did you think you were going to get?” He opened his eyes and grimaced, “Anger. Fear. Disgust. Resentment. I don’t exactly look the same. And I’m showing up at your doorstep after you thought me dead. I wouldn’t blame you if you’ve moved on.” Your hands dropped to his shoulders as you met his eyes earnestly, “Oh no. No no. You want to know what I’m feeling?” He gave a sad smile and shrugged. You stroked his cheek again as you continued, “Relief. Joy. Love. That’s what I feel my darling. I would have watched the whole karking galaxy burn if it meant I got you back.” He smiled this time happily, pressing his forehead to yours. You closed your eyes and brushed your nose against his as you continued to speak, repeating the final phrase he’d said to you back to him, “Ni kar’tayli gar darasuum.”
That was all it took for his resolve to crumble. He wrapped you in his arms as he kissed you with a fervent desperation. You matched his passion, tasting him again left you ravenous for every part of him. You moaned as he gently nibbled your bottom lip, something he remembered always drove you wild. Hearing your response elicited a devious smile from him as he hoisted you up by your thighs. You wrapped your legs around his waist as he carried you to your bed. He gently lay you down, kissing you down your neck and into the dip of your collarbone. His left hand explored your thigh, as if recalling a memory. He paused long enough to yank his glove off with his teeth and resumed the exploration of your skin. He pressed his thigh between your legs, muscles flexing and rubbing the delicate spot that yearned for him in every way. He dragged his fingertips across your skin with a featherlight touch that sent chills reverberating through you. He suddenly pulled back wincing.“My flower,” he whispered, “I don’t know how…different this will be. I don’t know if, or how, the cybernetics will affect-” You stopped him, “We will find out together. We will relearn together. We will find a new normal, together.” And you did. You spent the night in the deepest throes of passion, wrapped in each other’s arms. A sheen of sweat covered you both as you explored and discovered new methods of love making as well as discovering which of your old methods still left you screaming each other’s names to the stars.
Echo left early the next morning. You vaguely heard his departure filled with whispers of ‘I love you’s, kisses peppered across your face, along your collarbone, and covering every centimeter of your neck. When you finally rolled out of bed, you noticed the cup of caf on your bedside table and the flashing indicator that there was a holo message waiting for you.
Good morning cyar’ika. I made your caf just how you like it. I miss you already. Hunter says after this mission he will have Tech bring us back for a longer stay planet-side. Wrecker is excited to hit up 79s again. You’ll like them, my new squad. They’ll like you too, how could they not? I love you, my sarad. I’ll see you soon.
Your Echo was alive. And it wouldn’t be long before he was safe in your arms again.

hi i hope you’re doing amazing ! i recently discovered your account and have been blessed to see such amazing work🤩
recently i had to get a spinal fusion surgery. which also means i have metal rods and screws in my back :( it’s been tough for sure and most days i’m fine but there are days where i can’t just stop thinking about everything that happened before my accident and how this will change how i do things in the future. i know this may seem like a long shot but i was wondering if you could do a little one shot with echo about post surgery and how supportive he would be during the recovery process and those hard days ? he really is my comfort character and i know he would just be so understanding😭
Aloha!
How are you doing by now? Wishing you a speedy recovery, strength and love to deal with this new situation 💚
Echo is indeed a perfect comfort character, especially for something like this, I assume. Let me see what I can do for you.

You slowly open your eyes, you are still hungover, everything feels strange and as if you are wrapped in absorbent cotton, at least for the moment. You feel dizzy, sleepy, the anesthesia hasn't really let you go yet. Blinking, you try to get used to the light and immediately realize that you don't like your surroundings, but you didn't expect that. Hospitals are rarely pretty to look at. "Finally awake, sleepyhead?" Echo's soft tone with his deep voice, immediately creeps under your skin, to your deepest core, like soothing balm. You want to say something, but your mouth is so dry that you barely get your lips apart. Not a second later, you see Echo's hand, a cup and a straw. "Drink slowly," he says gently, "The doctors say your stomach might rebel if you take in food and liquids too quickly." You are incredibly thirsty, but you force yourself to take small, careful sips. "That's it," Echo says with a satisfied smile. Finally, you can speak again. "You're here," you state, smiling at him. Echo raises his brows. "Of course I'm here, by your side. Where else would I be?" He puts the cup back down and gently clasps your hand with his. "How do you feel?" he wants to know. You think for a small moment before answering with a sigh, "Fine, I guess, considering the circumstances. Tired, groggy from the anesthesia, and I'm not very comfortable in hospitals in general, but I guess that's beside the point." You glance at an imaginary point on the opposite wall and drift off in thought for a moment as you feel Echo's hand apply gentle pressure to yours, and he asks, "What's wrong? What are you thinking about right now?"
You look at him thoughtfully and reply, "About my recovery, the healing process, the physical therapies needed, and how everything will change in the near future." "That worries you?" You nod tentatively. Echo smiles at you, unperturbed. "You don't have to go through this alone, you have me. Don't worry, I'll help you with everything, support you. It will all seem hard at first, but it'll go away in time, you'll see." And Echo keeps his promise. He is always there when you need him, whenever he can, he is by your side, at doctor's appointments, therapeutic measures and in everyday life. You never once hear him grumble or complain. The only times you see him upset is when you neglect yourself or want to go too far too fast. He reprimands you now and then, but he does it out of affection and genuine concern for you. Echo makes sure you are always taken care of, even when he can't be there himself. He calls regularly from the road to hear how you are doing and to make sure you are recovering well. Still, of course, you worry, fearing that all this might become too much for him or that he might see you with different eyes than before. One day, when he comes back from a mission, he goes straight to you, carrying shopping bags with ingredients for a delicious dinner. The moment he walks in the door and smiles at you, all the fears and doubts that plagued you in his absence vanish. The genuine joy on his face to see you again, tingles under your skin, every time.
"Did you miss me much?" he asks with a grin, kissing your forehead. "Hell of a lot," you say, beaming at him. Echo lifts his bags in the air and says, "I'll be in the kitchen making us a decent dinner, then we'll take some time just for us" "That sounds wonderful" Echo takes care of everything, you don't have to ask him for anything, he does all these things by himself. He has a sense of what you need and what needs to be done. He has a talent for calming you down, taking away your fears and making you relax, even in moments when you don't think it's possible. As you become thoughtful again over dinner, Echo gently but firmly tells you, "Love, look at me. I know what you've been through is scary and healing is exhausting, but there's no need for fear or doubt. You are still you, still the person I love, don't let your gloomy thoughts take away your joy for the future. And above all, enjoy the good food." He smirks at you, and you automatically smirk back. "What would I do without you?" you ask, amused. Echo laughs softly and says, "Eat much worse for sure."
