The first meeting.
summary: y/n and artemis met a handsome (to y/n) and intimidating (to artemis) man.
word count: 1.5k
a/n: hope you’re enjoying this ‘series’ as much as i am enjoying writing them! (also, i’m sorry if there’s any mistakes regarding y/n’s job. i’m not from the uk so i got the information from the internet)
you can find more of my shy little boy here
❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁
January, 2018.
If there was something Y/N enjoyed, was playdates. Ever since she got pregnant with she looked forward taking her little baby with their friends, have a conversation with other parents while they watch the kids interact. However Artemis’ number of playdates are limited, due to his struggle to make friends and talk with other kids.
But he did have one good friend, his name was Spike. The way the two boys became friends was still an unanswered question to Y/N, but she couldn’t have been happier when her little one had told her he had made a friend.
The Prendergast were a very chill, very fun family to spend time with, and it didn’t took long for Y/N to become close friends with Emi and Adam. They had started a little tradition to get together every other Friday night at each other’s places, and this particular Friday wasn’t Y/N’s turn to host the dinner.
The Y/L/N’s arrived on time, Artemis being excited to see his friend even though he just saw him at daycare earlier that day. He pulled from Y/N’s hand, making her walk faster.
“C’mon mummy!”
“Wait, we don’t want to drop the cookies we made!”
They made it to the doorway just before Emi pulled the door open and greeted them. “There you are, Spike was starting to wonder were his best friend was”
“Hi, we bought cookies” Y/N said as they stepped into the house, Artemis disappearing into the hallway as he ran towards the living room.
“You look tired, long week?”
“Sort of, collage students can take a tool on you” Y/N replied, sighing.
Y/N had recently taken a job as a collage teacher and while it has been a wonderful change in her family’s economy, it was indeed tiring and sometimes intimidating. But it allowed her to provide better for her little one, so she wasn’t going to complain.
“Well, tonight you can forget about work” Emi said, walking to the kitchen to place the cookies in the microwave to keep them warm. “Oh, I forgot to tell you but someone else is joining us for dinner”
“Oh?” Y/N raised her eyebrows. “Who?”
“His name’s Harry, you’ll love him. He recently came back to London and Adam invited him over”
“I want you to meet him, he’s a nice guy” Emi’s husband, Adam, came into the kitchen and wrapped his arms around Y/N’s shoulders. “I bet Artemis will love him too”
“Yeah, right” she chuckled. “As if you didn’t know my son”
“Worth the try” he smirked.
As if it was a sign, the doorbell was heard inside of the house, indicating someone new had just arrived. Y/N walked over the living room to see what the kids were up to, and she found Silver, Spike’s older sister, teaching the two boys how to drink tea properly. She smiled at the sight as she took a seat on one of the couches.
She heard voices coming closer to where she was, but it wasn’t until she heard the stranger laugh that she turned over to see. A handsome man stood beside Adam, he had chocolate curls adorning the very top of his head, along with beautiful emerald eyes joined by little crinkles at the side as he smiled at Emi.
He was beautiful.
Y/N saw as the three adults approached her, Adam smirking at her reaction in a way of telling her I told you so.
“Y/N, this is Harry. Harry, this is our friend Y/N” Harry offered his hand for her to shake and she noticed the rings adorning his fingers.
“It’s nice to meet you, love. I’ve heard wonderful things about you” he said as the shook hands.
“Pleasure’s mine” she smiled. She was gonna talk again but a little body crashed into her legs from behind, clearly hiding. “This is Artemis. Say hi, baba”
The little boy said nothing as he pushed himself further into his mum’s legs, clearly feeling intimidated of seeing a very tall stranger standing in front of his mummy.
“Hi Artemis, I’m Harry” he offered the boy the most friendly smile he could provide but he still wasn’t responding.
“I’m sorry, he’s… uh, very shy” Y/N blushed. “Darling, remember we’re polite to people” she said to her son.
Artemis let go of Y/N’s legs and took another peek to Harry, who was now crunched down to his level to make him feel more comfortable.
“Hello, Sir” he finally said, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink as he spoke.
Harry chuckled. “You can call me Harry, mate. I’m not that old”
Artemis nodded again. Silver and Spike came running to hug Harry, chanting Uncle Harry over and over again.
After the greetings, the kids went back playing and Y/N went to sit back on the couch, knowing how her son always wanted her close whenever he was feeling shy.
“Did I scare him?” Harry came with two glasses of wine. He sat beside her once she took it, mumbling a thank you.
“You didn’t. He’s just not so good with strangers”
“Missing his dad perhaps?” he inquired.
“You can miss someone you’ve never met” she chuckled before taking a long sip of wine.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-”
“It’s okay, I’m joking. I mean, he hasn’t met that piece of shit indeed but its fine”
“If it matters, I bet he’s an idiot” he leaned down to her, as if he was telling her a secret. Y/N snorted. “Anyway, I still hope I didn’t scare him”
Y/N shook her head. “Usually he’s like this, especially with other men, he doesn’t know many”
Harry turned to look at Y/N’s son. He was no older than four, he guessed. He had blonde, curly hair and hazel eyes. Harry thought his facial features were all from his mum, and he was so damn adorable.
“You have a very adorable one, looks just like his mum” Harry said, smirking at her.
“I know, right? Worth every back pain I had during nine months”
The two talked a little longer and Harry moved closer to her as their glasses became emptier. Harry thought she was very beautiful and charming, just like Adam had described her before.
He learned Y/N was 25 and a professor at UCL and she teaches at the UCL Department of Spanish and Latin American Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. He also learned Artemis was indeed four years old and had a passion for my neighbor totoro even though he has never seen the movie before.
“He just really likes the character” Y/N would say.
It was refreshing to see someone so put together at 25, he would admit. Everything that came out of her mouth was interesting for him, as he wanted to learn as much as possible from her.
The entire group had dinner outside, enjoying the beautiful night with light conversations and some more wine. Harry tried to talk to Artemis, but he still refused to answer him something else aside from ‘no’, ‘yes’ and ‘thank you’ for the time Harry complimented his shirt.
Every time, Y/N would send him an apologetic smile but he dismissed it offering her one of his own. He’s met shy children before, but usually none of them would be so closed off to him. He was good with children, heck, he loved them. But the one time he actually needed his charms with them to work, mostly to impress the pretty woman who happened to be the mum of said child, of course they didn’t.
In the other hand, Y/N was not surprised by her son’s reactions and felt bad for Harry every time he would try to talk with Artemis. She knew he didn’t do it to be impolite or rude, he just genuinely got that nervous around strangers. He even yelled stranger danger one time when a man asked him his favorite ice cream flavor, that man was an employee serving them the ice cream.
At the end of the night, everyone said their goodbye’s and Y/N went out of the door with a half sleep four year old laying on her shoulder as she carried him to the car.
Emi pushed Harry’s shoulder, silently telling him to go help her. And that’s what he did.
“Thank you” she said when Harry opened the backseat door for her.
“You’re welcome” he smiled. He observed how Y/N put Artemis on his car seat and buckled his seatbelt across his little chest. He also opened the door for her as the gentleman he was. “I… had a great time tonight”
“Me too. It was nice meeting you”
“Perhaps… we could go out some time?” he asked nervously. “You don’t have to if you don’t want to”
“I’d like that actually” They exchanged numbers quickly and Harry noticed how her lockscreen was a picture of Artemis in a Mickey Mouse costume.
“I’ll call you” he assured her.
“I’ll wait for your call” she smiled at him one more time before closing the door and starting her car and driving away.

Ooh something for DickJay week??? That sounds intriguing 👀
-----
So.
This ask was from MONTHS ago, and @bearly-writing asked the same thing at the time but I never managed to finish anything for DickJay week because I hit a massive brick wall made up of cement brick writer’s blocks. I ended up posting a snippet of a different fic and 5 months later I got a chapter out, so maybe if I post a snippet of what was supposed to be the fluffy DickJay submission, 5 months later a chapter will magically appear too? Excerpt behind the cut:
Artemis is just out of the shower with a towel wrapped around her long hair. She settles herself down onto the couch in the den of their floating base when she hears it.
Sigh.
It's a drawn out breath that hisses rather loudly with the inhale, before pushing out in an equally noisy huff on the exhale.
It’s Jason. He’s sitting over in the corner in one of the arm chairs with his legs curled up on the seat. He has a book in hand, which he doesn’t seem to be reading if the way his eyes are staring blankly off into space are any indication.
Artemis ignores him. She reaches for the remote and turns on the television. There’s a reality cooking show she’s recently found that features a chef with a fiery temper. He screams and shouts every time one of the contestants makes a mistake. She likes him. She thinks he’s funny.
Siiiigh.
There it is again. Artemis glances over to see that Jason has at least closed the book. He’s now just frowning at the cover. It's one of those literary classics he really likes. Pride and Perjury or something. The pages are dog-eared and worn.
Eventually he opens the book again and Artemis resumes watching her show. She turns the volume a little higher just in case.
Siiiiiiiigh.
This time Jason slumps backward into his chair and drops the book on the floor. He groans in frustration and picks up the book again.
Artemis shoots him a glare. "If you're going to devolve into histrionics like a puerile teenager, can you do it in another room? I'm trying to watch a show."
Jason perks up at her attention, and as if he didn't even hear her remark, he says earnestly, "Hey Art, do you think I'm good enough for Dick?"
"By the Seven Beards, not this again," Artemis rolls her eyes and lets out a sigh of her own. Hers though, is tinged with irritation. Artemis turns her head away from the TV to look at him. "I thought you had an agreement. No killing in Gotham. If it's good enough for Batman it should be good enough for him."
Jason shakes his head. "No. I mean like am I worthy enough?" He pulls his legs up to his chest and tucks his face behind his knees as he says it, so that the last words are so muffled Artemis can barely hear them. He looks dejected.
On the TV, the chef on the show is picking up a pan of chicken and throwing it on the floor. "Shit!" the chef says. "Absolute shit!"
Artemis thinks so too. Something's happened that Jason suddenly feels insecure about his relationship with Dick. She supposes this needs some attention, but it wouldn't do to tip her hand to her level of concern.
So she turns the volume down on the TV, then unwinds the towel about her hair. It's still a little damp, but dry enough to detangle. She motions Jason over and hands him a comb.
He gets up and plops himself beside her on the couch, then dutifully begins to comb out her hair starting from the ends. Artemis nods in approval.
"It's just that, I thought Dick saw past all the stuff people say about me," Jason starts talking without being prompted. "I mean, I think he does. Maybe. But I didn't expect everyone else to weigh in too."
"Everyone else?"
"Well, I expected Bruce to be a jackass about it. And he was. He put me through the wringer like I was just out to ruin his precious golden boy." Jason sighs again, but his hands are steady as he carefully works the tangles up the length of her hair. "But then Dick’s whole crew showed up while I was getting groceries. Wally, Garth, even Donna. It wasn't exactly a shovel talk, but let's just say that between the three of them there wouldn't be anything left to bury. I thought at least Donna would give me the benefit of the doubt, but Dick's her best friend, so of course she'll take his side."
Jason sounds plaintive and cranky, but it's pretty clear that Jason feels hurt. He stops talking for a moment as he finishes running the comb through the entire length of Artemis' hair. Then he parts her hair into sections starting at her crown. The boy knows how to french braid. Artemis is marginally impressed.
When he starts overlapping the sections, gradually gathering more hair as he moves down, he continues with, "And then freaking Superman showed up. Gave me a talk about it being a good time to work on being a better person if I wanted to go out with Dick."
He's grumbling at this point, but he keeps winding the braid evenly.
"What did Dick say?" Artemis asks.
Jason doesn't answer immediately, which probably isn't a good sign. He gives another one of those long sighs again, and says in a smaller voice than Artemis is used to hearing, "Dick just brushed it off. Said that his friends are just looking out for him. Which I guess makes sense, if they don't think I'm good enough."
"And who's looking out for you?"
Jason just shrugs. "I don't need anyone to look out for me."
As usual, Jason's wrong. He may have his faults, but it's plain as day that he's harbored feelings for Dick for a long time. He'd probably walk bare-footed over hot coals for Dick if he only asked. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool. She doesn't blame Dick’s friends for their loyalty, but the judgement is unwarranted. Artemis won't stand by and let Jason be bullied by his boyfriend's overzealous pals. And if Dick doesn't see what harm they've caused, then he has more than just a few choice words from Artemis coming his way.
Nevertheless, there's no reason to overreact. She'll wait and see what happens, and then make her move if necessary.
Jason finishes the braid and then looks around for something to tie it off with. Artemis hands him a hair band from her pocket and he finishes off the braid by adjusting some of the sections around her head.
"Anyway, thanks for listening," Jason gets up from the couch. "Wanted to get that off my chest. I'm sure nothing will come of it."
He looks a little more at ease as he picks up his discarded book and leaves the room. Afterward, she checks her hair in the mirror. The strands are neat and not too tight, and the style is well suited to keeping her hair from becoming a tangled mess during battle. The weave of the braid is thinner than a normal French braid though. It turns out Jason’s done a remarkably good job at plaiting her hair into a fishtail braid.
Huh, Artemis thinks. Who knew?

Mistake
Fandom: Young Justice Links: FF.net // AO3 Characters: Jade Nguyen, Roy/Will Harper, Lian Harper Rating: G Word Count: 1.5k Summary: Jade hadn’t planned for a reunion. It was supposed to be quick, a short, silent goodbye on a rooftop and then quickly disappearing into the waiting shadows. She could handle that.
After her confrontation with Will, Jade runs far longer than she needs to. Too much is on her mind. Even more is on her heart, weighing on her chest with a ferocity she hasn’t felt in years. It’s a jarring feeling. Seems she’s losing touch on a number of things, as of late. Her shoulder burns, screaming for her to stop, but her instincts tell her she needs to keep going. If she stops, she’ll collapse, and she can’t do that.
Not here. Not when she’s still close enough to turn around and go running back.
She hadn’t planned for a reunion. It was supposed to be quick, a short, silent goodbye on a rooftop and then quickly disappearing into the waiting shadows. Jade could handle that.
What Jade couldn’t handle, apparently, was seeing Will again. Seeing him meant confronting the reality of her decision. When Jade decided to leave them, she knew the consequences. Lian would grow up without a mother. Artemis would lose her sister again and Will would face another hardship in his already turbulent life. In her mind, Jade had made her peace with it because she knew it was for the best.
Her peace, however, relied entirely on the fact that she wouldn’t have to face the people she’d be hurting.
The confrontation was entirely her fault. She was supposed to be there for two minutes, tops. Everything had started out fine. She’d found an adjacent rooftop with a decent view, and waited just long enough to get a glimpse. Just one glimpse of her daughter, she’d thought that would be enough.
And yet, the moment Lian came into view, Jade lingered. A glimpse wasn’t enough.
Lian was barely two when Jade left. A year had passed, and upon seeing her for the first time since, the fact plowed into her chest like a vehicle going full speed. She looked so much older. Her daughter was growing up, and she wasn’t even there to see it.
That’s when Jade made her first mistake— she stayed to watch her. She watched as Artemis pulled her laptop out of her bag and started working at the kitchen table, pausing every so often to pet Lian’s head before continuing her conversation with the Quaraci refugee they were currently housing. She watched her husband spoon out ridiculous portions of ice cream and serve it to everyone at the table, saving himself for last. It was so like him, leaving himself for last, that it sent another pang through Jade’s heart.
Her second mistake— she allowed herself to sit there and miss them.
For so long, Jade had told herself she was better off alone. She’d found the notion of family childish, a fantasy better lived in fairytales. Families are liabilities, people who hold you down, or worse, be used against you. She rejected that idea entirely. And then, she’d made the brilliant decision to fall in love. Go figure.
Of course, she wasn't dumb. She didn't see a white picket fence and two dogs in their future, not even when Lian was born. She’d helped him find Speedy for her daughters sake, not so they could play house in the suburbs of Star City. And yet, Jade let herself play along. She’d sit at the kitchen table and feed the baby, tossing out endless quips as Will cooked them both breakfast. They ran errands. Evenings were spent sparring, or in the rare instances where Lian slept for more than an hour at a time, they would indulge in a little television. When Artemis moved in, it became even more of a joke. A real sitcom.
For the briefest of moments, Jade had allowed herself to feel comfortable. That’s when she snapped out of it.
The very things that she once found endearing— Lian’s laughter, the sound of Will’s alarm clock, Artemis studying at the kitchen table— immediately became suffocating. She couldn’t sleep. Every insecurity she’d ever had played nonstop in her mind. Rational thoughts. Irrational thoughts. They rang all the same, loud and constant. She had no business being there. More than that, her very presence endangered them.
And so, she’d told herself they were better off without her. It became her mantra. Every contrary thought she had, every time she so much as entertained the idea of staying, all it took was that same, monotone phrase to shut it down fast. It didn’t matter if it hurt. Pain was something she was used to.
When Jade left them, she made it quick, in the early hours of the morning when everyone was sound asleep. She left a note on her pillow for Will to read when he woke up. There were so many things she wanted to say, but in the end, the only thing she could manage was “I’m sorry”. Because it was true. She was.
After that, she kept busy. If she kept moving, kept working, then she didn't have to think. If her mind wasn’t kept busy, she would start thinking about them. Did Lian still remember her? Was Will’s new company successful? How did Artemis do on her final exam for that class she hated? Those thoughts were dangerous. No matter how many assignments she took, how many Shadow jobs, how many times she would tell herself that they were better off without her, heer mind kept turning to them.
It was odd. This had never been an issue for her before.
On the day that celebrated an entire year since her departure, she found herself up on the rooftop. One more time. Just once more, to see that they really were just fine, and then she’d disappear out of their lives, for good.
As she sat there, watching and missing them, she saw exactly that. They were just fine. Lian didn’t really need her. There she was, smiling, without a care in the world. Will seemed happy. Even Artemis was flourishing. Her presence wasn’t needed. Not in the least. It was exactly what she’d come to see, and yet, it left her hollow.
And then, Jade let her guard slip. Two minutes turned into ten. Then fifteen. That’s when she made her third mistake— when Will came outside, she didn’t leave immediately.
In retrospect, she should have. At the time, she even wanted to. But she didn’t. Something about his voice, low and smooth, sent a shiver down her spine. His eyes, his words, begged her to stay. His fingers on her chin, and the way his hands made her feel safe. It was everything she’d pushed away, told herself that she didn’t need, or deserve. When she finally turned away from him, her eyes burned. The tears come without warning, hot and sudden, trickling down her cheeks as she fights hard to keep her voice even. She told him she wasn’t coming back. She meant it.
Jade has exactly one safehouse in the area, on the outskirts of Star City. It isn’t big, or even nice. It takes everything in her to keep going, to keep running until she reaches it. When she finally gets inside, her legs give out from underneath her. She collapses on the floor, her breath coming out in hard, ragged gasps.
She still sees Will’s face in her mind. The touch of his fingers lingers on her skin, and it feels like there’s a gaping hole in her chest, hurting worse than the one put in her shoulder by a bullet.
It doesn’t make sense. Nothing makes sense. She knew she’d never be able to see her daughter grow up. She knew that there wouldn’t be any more afternoon outings to the park, or lazy weekend mornings waking up in her husband’s arms. She knew that she wouldn’t be there to see Lian’s first day of school, or her high school graduation. She knew all of this. Jade had made her peace with it, so why did it hurt so much?
The tears come harder, faster, the more she thinks about it. Lian’s smile is burned into her mind, and she realizes that she’ll never be able to hold her again. She’ll never get to run her fingers through her hair again, or hear her high-pitched babble. These were all things she told herself she didn’t need, and she knew she didn’t, but god, she wants them so badly that it consumes her whole.
Jade stays like this for a while, on the floor, trying to regain control of her breathing. She can’t do this again. Knowing that she’s missing out is one thing. Seeing it happen is something else entirely. Slowly, she picks herself up, leaning against the wall for support.
It’s for the best, she tells herself, over and over until the tears stop. Jade wouldn’t have made a good mother anyway. Or a wife, or a sister, for that matter. Will, Artemis, Lian… they’re better off without her. Eventually, her presence will become nothing but a distant memory to them. A bitter taste in the back of their throats, one easily washed away.
As for her, she will manage. Pain, no matter how intense, is temporary. Eventually, Jade will stop thinking about what might have been. She will take comfort knowing that they’re safe, and happy. Even if it hurts. Even if she wants nothing more than to see them, she will stay away.
Just like she told Will, it’s time to move on. For the both of them.

Bakugou x Vigilante!OC
Warnings: angst, explicit language, violence
Word count:   2080
Genre: enemies to lovers ; angst ; romance, slow burn
When a new student makes an entrance, Bakugou has a real bad feeling. There is something about this girl that just doesnt feel right. From the flaming hair to the calculating glint in her green eyes, everything about her just pisses him off.
Little does he know that his fate is intertwined with the person he despises so much, defining his future path in a way he would have never expected
Tumblr media
When Aizawa opened the infirmary door, the scent of nitroglycerin hit him like a wall. Taking in the room before him, he noticed two things. Firstly, Artemis was sitting hunched over on the bed, holding her red face in her hands and shaking. Secondly, Bakugou was standing in the corner of the room furthest away from her, stubbornly facing the wall. The overpowering scent of the explosive compound was proof that the young man was sweating buckets.
That was suspicious. Aizawa was used to seeing the two at one another’s throats, but finding them in this state made him suspect that they didn’t hate each other as much as they led on. At least, not anymore.
Teenagers…
“Oh, dear, you don't look so good.” Recovery Girl's voice cut through the room as she rushed towards the shaking Artemis and pressed a small hand to her forehead. “Hm… It doesn’t seem to be a fever, but your heart rate is elevated-”
“I’m fine!” Artemis huffed stubbornly, though the slight tremble in her voice didn’t go unnoticed by Aizawa.
While that was going on, Bakugou had slowly moved towards the door, probably hoping to remain unseen. Aizawa couldn’t recall a time he’d seen the young man so flustered. The tips of his ears were almost as red as Artemis’s hair.
He sighed and shook his head, deciding to give Bakugou his wish and pretend he hadn’t seen him. Given his explosive temperament, it was probably a better option for everyone involved.
When Bakugou had left, Aizawa shifted his attention back to his newest problem child. He pulled up a chair as best as he could with only one working arm and waited until Recovery Girl had finished patching her up.
“There, that should do it,” the old lady huffed, stepping back.
Now that her treatment was over, Aizawa cleared his throat and asked, “Could I have a moment alone with my student?” His eyes focused on Artemis.
Recovery Girl sighed deeply, but agreed and left through the door. For a few moments, silence fell upon the room as Aizawa sized up the girl in front of him.
Artemis shifted uncomfortably. As usual, he picked up the distrust in her body language, like an animal in a cage, ready to defend itself.
“Miss Moon, what were the conditions that I gave you for taking part in the Sports Festival?” Aizawa asked slowly.
Artemis took a deep breath, her face shifting into an unreadable mask. “You said I was fine to compete as long as I was healthy enough.”
“Then, explain to me why I’m sitting in the Nurse's Office with you after just one round.”
She ground her teeth. “I was fine. I am fine! I don't understand why everyone is making such a fuss.” Despite the conviction in her words, she avoided Aizawa’s eyes.
“Do I really have to explain to you how stupid, irresponsible and reckless your actions were?” asked Aizawa. “As a hero, citizens will depend on you and your abilities, not to mention your teammates. If you can’t admit that you’re not up to a job, you not only endanger yourself, but the people around you.”
With every scolding word, he began to see steel walls rise up between him and his student. A vault with a hundred metal doors. That's what Aizawa could see in Artemis Moon. He’d taken on students with difficult backgrounds before. This one, however, left him puzzled. An unfathomable anger burned deep in her green eyes, though what it was directed towards, exactly, he couldn’t say.
“What does it matter?” she snapped. “In the USJ, I got the job done before the teachers showed up, didn’t I? I would have gotten the job done here, as well! I’m not so weak that I need to be sheltered and babied. Trust me when I say I’ve been through worse.” She got up suddenly. “As long as the objective is cleared and the mission is a success, it doesn't matter what happens to me. Besides, are you really in a position to lecture me at this point, Mr Mummy Man?”
Aizawa sighed inwardly. While he didn’t appreciate being insulted, he also knew that there was no point getting through to her when she was like this. Most other students would have listened to him, but the pure stubborness in this girl acted like a shield between her and his words.
He still hadn’t forgotten what Artemis had said on the bus ride to the USJ. The mindset she’d displayed had been downright concerning for someone so young. What had surprised Aizawa was how she’d acted during the attack itself. He’d read the report of her behaviour carefully several times, and it had left him wondering.
Taking a deep breath, he decided on a different approach. “Answer me one question, then, Artemis. Why are you here?”
That seemed to catch her off guard. “What?” she asked, brows furrowing as if he’d asked her why the sky was blue.
“Why do you want to be a hero?”
Another silence fell between teacher and student. Aizawa watched as Artemis mulled over his words, trying to come up with an answer. Not once did she let her eyes drift from him. She watched his every move, as though she still considered him some kind of threat.
After pacing up and down the room several times, she sat down again.
“I don't,” she said finally. “I don't want to be a hero. Not that I would be any good at it, anyway.”
“Then why did you come to UA?”
“There's… something I must do that’s only possible with a Hero License.”
Aizawa would be lying to himself if he said he hadn’t been expecting an answer like that. The disdain for hero society was apparent in her demeanour.
“All right,” he said. “Let me put it in words you might understand more easily. Your injuries were so serious that you could have damaged your body permanently. You came very close to ending any potential career before it had even begun. Don’t you see that? If Bakugou hadn’t stopped you, everything you’ve planned for in life would go to waste. You’d be absolutely useless.”
He knew his words sounded harsh, even hurtful. Wake-up calls generally weren’t something he enjoyed dishing out, though considering Artemis’s reaction, he’d hit his target.
“You’re old enough to understand that if you’re not capable of keeping yourself alive, you’re not capable of helping anyone,” Aizawa continued. “I don't know what plans you have with your life and I won't pry, but you will not be able to achieve them the way you’re going right now.”
Artemis felt like she’d been slapped in the face. Aizawa gave her a couple of moments to let his words sink in.
“So, what… You’re saying I’m… incapable?” she whispered in a shaky voice.
“No. If I deemed you incapable, I would have expelled you already.” Aizawa’s voice fell to a softer tone. “In fact, I see great potential in you. You said you wouldn’t be a good hero, yet when the life of your classmates were in danger, you did everything you could to save them. You put their needs first. If you ask me, that's exactly what a hero should do. All I ask is that you take your own health more seriously. I don’t want to see a potentially great hero retire before her time.”
“You think… I could be a good hero?”
“As a matter of fact, I do. Now, go get to the showers and join your classmates on the tribunes. I have to get back to Present Mic.”
With that, Aizawa left Artemis to her thoughts. There were many more things he’d wanted to say, and he knew that eventually, he’d have no choice but to tell them to her. However, if gauging her reaction had told him one thing, it was that he had to tread delicately around this subject. One step too far, and she would run, and given the things Aizawa had heard and witnessed from her, he couldn’t afford to have her block him out completely. Not when he believed that he might be able to help her.
--
Artemis stood in the showers and let the hot water run down her skin. Her muscles and head ached, but the sensation of the water was enough to keep her spinning thoughts grounded.
Aizawas words still echoed in her mind. She, a hero? Yeah, right. Even if she had the potential for it, she’d never want to be one. Heroes were glorified to the point of corruption. She’d experienced that first hand. A mental image of her father popped up in her mind and she gritted her teeth.
“I will not be like you,” she hissed.
After washing off the thin layer of grime and sweat the first round had left her with, Artemis slipped into a new set of PE clothes and made her way through the halls of the stadium towards the tribunes.
She hoped to God that Bakugou would be too busy with the competition itself to interact with her again. Artemis still didn't quite know what had come over her when she’d kissed him. Her stomach lurched strangely whenever she thought about it. Not once in her life had she felt like this before. Maybe she really was getting sick.
Artemis decided to avoid the explosive boy for now and investigate this strange feeling later. Her head was still spinning from the conversation with Aizawa, and the painkillers Recovery Girl had given her, while dulling her pain a little, had made her feel woozy. Now that the tension of the festival had subsided, the exhaustion of her own body really was free to take over.
She turned a corner, pondering whether one last can of energy drink would be enough to get her through the day, when she suddenly heard a deep, enthusiastic voice pipe up ahead of her.
“Endeavor! It’s been a while, old friend.”
Artemis recognised All Might’s voice at once, though it was his words that made her frown. Endeavor? What were the country’s two top heroes doing here instead of watching the spectacle?
“Don’t act like we’re friends. I have nothing to say to you, All Might.” Endeavor’s tone was as cold as ice.
All Might barked out a laugh. “Oh, come now. Your son is one of my students! He's doing well. How about we have a little chat?”
“Of course he’s doing well. It’s what’s expected of him.”
Endeavor’s voice sent shivers down Artemis’s spine. She knew she shouldn't eavesdrop on her teacher, but for some reason, her feet just wouldn’t move. If she remembered right, then Endeavor's son was Shoto Todoroki, the boy with the half hot half cold quirk. Artemis had only seen him in action a few times in practice, but even from her limited observations, she could tell that he was strong. Not the most friendly kid she'd ever met, though.
“How about you give me a tip on how to raise the next generations of heroes,” said All Might. “You know, since you have the experience.”
Artemis couldn't tell if All Might was just dense and unable to sense the menace in Endeavor’s attitude, or if he was just blatantly ignoring it.
“And why would I do that? You’d better watch your back, All Might. The boy is my masterpiece! He will surpass you and beat you into the ground. After all, that’s the reason why I created him-”
Artemis’s ears started ringing. She’d had heard this kind of talk before.
You are my masterpiece. My greatest creation! You will pave the way for my glory.
Her stomach dropped, and for a moment, she felt as if someone had knocked the wind out of her. How many times had her father said these exact words to her before making her do something horrifying?
Rage bubbled up in her gut. Endeavor didn’t even seem to feel ashamed for what he had just so openly admitted to the Symbol of Peace, and Artemis found herself wondering what Shoto Todoroki had lived through if the man that spoke exactly like her own father called him son.
Finally forcing herself to move, she turned on her heels and ran.
Artemis had been aware that hero society was anything but heroic, but never had she imagined that the number two hero himself could be just as monstrous as the man that had created her.

Song 1
Song 2
Feyre was showing off the paintings she was going to be putting her gallery before brunch was to be served. They were lovely, still lifes and landscapes. They were a few portraits. One was a pairing of the three Archeron sisters depicted as goddesses—Feyre with her arrows shown as Artemis. Elian, surrounded by flowers and in her hand, she held a pomegranate as Persephone. And Nesta held a sword in her hand and her eyes she had fire as Athena. Cassian stared at that painting for a while, looking at Nesta's posture and how oddly right it was for her to hold a sword.
And then there was the one under the blanket that Rhys stood next to grinning like a fiend. Rhys would whisper in Feyre's ear, making her blush darken before she lightly whacked Rhys into laughter. "If you're going to act like this, I will burn that painting," she threatens only to make Rhys whisper something else that made Feyre redder. "You prick, that is the last time I ever use you as a model." She walks off towards Mor to vent.
Cassian moves over to Rhys. "Is that what I think that is?" Cassian points with his half-full mimosa towards the covered painting. He can feel his friend puff up his chest. "Fuck, and you're going to show that to your cousin and sisters-in-law?" Cassian harshly whispers.
Rhys smirk falters, "No, I will show you, though." Cassian shakes his head. He has seen Rhys naked plenty enough through the years of friendship and Rhys had seen him naked twice as much. He follows Rhys to the left side of the painting further away from their friends and family. Rhys's smile was wicked as he lifts the corner showing a portion of the painting but enough of the good stuff showing. Cassian whistles.
"You did right in marrying an artist. She sure did a good job photoshopping you," Cassian whispers. Feyre did a great job. Rhysand stood on a mountain top with enormous bat-like wings flaring from his back as if he was about to fly off. He wore nothing, showing off his flaccid penis that was partially hidden by his hand. His six-pack was gleaming as if it was recently oiled. In his other hand was a hand mirror encrusted in jewels—Feyre's apparent attempt to show that her subject was vain.
"There was no photoshop needed for this perfection, Cas. You're jealous because you wouldn't look half as handsome naked as me on canvas." Rhys huffs, lifting the covering higher to look at himself some more. Vain was too small of a word for Rhys's obsession with his looks. "You would need a woman next to you for anyone to look at you nude."
"To show my superior bedding skills?" Cassian asks, looking at the landscape that surrounded Rhys's nakedness.
"Gross," Nesta's voice of disgust jolts both men to stand up straight. Rhys drops the cover as he looks at his sister-in-law. Nesta scrunched up her nose, her eyes full of disgust staring at Rhys. "I could have had a normal life, not knowing what you look like naked."
"Nesta," Rhys's voice was strained after getting caught staring at his penis.  "How are you?"
"Disgusted, no wonder that thing is covered." Nesta crosses her arms. She had no drink in her hand, which was out of place when everyone else was taking advantage of the free booze. But not out of character, Nesta didn't drink not since university.
Cassian scratches his neck, a blush threatening to rise up his neck. He was embarrassed to be caught looking at his friend's painted penis. He takes a long sip of his mimosa. Nesta's eyes flick over to him. It was only one day ago that she was all over him naked. Nesta would look amazing, standing next to him in a portrait of their own. Not painted by her sister, of course.
Nesta was wearing her hair down with a portion of her hair braided at her crown to make a makeshift headband. He loved it when her hair was down. It was easier for him to play with not worrying about her needing to fix it up after sex. She wore one of her shorter summer dresses too. All Cassian was waiting for is her signal to follow her up to the bathroom or guestroom. Cassian gulped, and Nesta's pouty lips lift at the edges giving him a glimpse of nirvana and silk sheets. Armen shouts Nesta's name, and with that, Nesta slips away.
"That was mortifying," Rhys sighs before lifting the sheet again as if to make sure that Nesta didn't find a way to ruin his picture. He sighs again from relief.
"Mother above Rhys," Cassian drawls not watching his brother but watching Nesta leaning slightly to listen to Armen hissing about something.
"Oh, after brunch, I would like to talk to you, Mor and Az. Az got some new intel on the breach." Rhys says, straightening up. ______
Brunch was not as fun as the last time. Cassian found himself on the opposite end of the table to Nesta. Rhys decided that he needed Cassian as close to him as possible. Cassian darted his eyes throughout the meal, trying to catch Nesta's eyes but never did. He would catch, however, the eyes of Az and Mor. Mor's eyebrow raised in concern and mouthed "what," angrier and angrier as he would shake his head. Finally, she threw her napkin down on the table.
"What do you want, Cassian? Do I have something on my face," she hisses. Her golden locks look like they were raising like a cat threatened.
"No, I was looking out the window," Cassian tries to cover. Mor glares at him and places her napkin back on her lap before turning to Az to ask him if she had anything on her face.
Nesta looks at him and shakes her head. He could almost hear her chastise him about his lack of subtlety. Cassian looks back down at his plate, hearing Feyre giggle and whisper something in Rhys's ear.
He felt his phone buzz after the plates were cleared, and everyone started to converse over coffee and pastries. He slips his phone out of his pocket, still engaging in small talk with Feyre and Rhys before glimpsing down at his phone to see a text from Nesta.
'Meet me upstairs in the guestroom in three'
He looks up to see Nesta already out of the room. He slowly withdraws from his conversation with Feyre and Rhys as naturally as possible. Making a point to say he needed the bathroom. No one looked up to see him slip out of the dining room and up the stairs towards his favourite benefit.
Nesta was already on the bed when he comes in. Her shoes are off; she sits watching the door. "We got to make this quick," he says, making his way over to Nesta. He kneels beside the bed, kissing her as he moved her legs apart.
She spreads her legs and helps push her dress skirt up higher past her hips so he can see her wearing his third favourite pair of underwear. Dark red and lacy. He groans, running a finger against the material. "We got to make this quick," she repeats to him with a smirk. She had somehow taken down the straps of her dress, so her breast were out in the open while he was engrossed in her underwear choice.
"Did I ever tell you that I love this dress?" Cassian asks as he kisses her inner leg. "And your red lacy underwear." he plants a closed mouth kiss to the center of her underwear. Nesta runs her fingers through his hair, making sure to grip him and push him further into her heat.
"I thought you liked me naked?" Nesta teases.
"I like you in whatever you wear or not wear," Cassian sighs, taking a finger and moving her underwear to the side. Her smell was strong. He licks his lips.
"Am I better looking naked than Rhys?" Nesta asks. Cassian shots up to look at her red-faced and glaring.
"One hundred percent better looking than Rhys," he tells her.
She hums, pretending not to believe him. "The way you were admiring his portrait this morning tells me a different story." Cassian's glare is harder. He takes his thumb, wets it with his tongue and brings it down upon her clitoris. Nesta rotates her hips at the pressure.
"If you want us to continue," Cassian's voice was low, "I would suggest not bringing up my friend's penis." He rubs a circle and presses back down, hearing a clear whimper from Nesta.
She looks at him with want. Want, of course, for pleasure and not him; he reminds himself. "It's fine if you find your best friend attractive, batboy," she teases. "Anyways, from what the girls say, Az supposedly has the biggest dick between you three."
Cassian lifts his thumb from her clit. He looks at her, still lusting for her but was not having it with the teasing. "And here you are wanting mine," he says harshly, gripping his erection for Nesta to see. Her prize. "And you won't be getting it if you keep this up."
Nesta rolls her eyes. "You can hardly say no to me. Especially when you are straining for release," Nesta says, laying down and spreading her legs further, inviting him in. Cassian hovers over her, putting his thumb back on her clit.
"One of these days, you will tease me out of an erection," he tells her as he starts a rhythm on to her. She moans. He plants a kiss on her. "You need to be quiet. We don't want anyone discovering this treason." She groans into his mouth as Cassian sinks a finger into her, still rubbing circles on her clit. Her eyes roll up in pure pleasure. It was his master plan, making her have the best orgasms of her life with him, and she would be ruined. No man would ever pleasure her as well as him.
She slips her hands under his sweater raking his back with her nails. And now it's Cassian's turn to stifle his own groan. Nesta smirks into his lips. Cassian dips his head over to a nipple, sucking biting at it. He knows she's close to her first orgasm. He just needs to push a little harder and go a bit faster, and now she's withering. She arches her back and pushes her hips lower, trying to get him in deeper. "Cas," she moans, "don't you dare fucking stop."
He could be mean. Give her a lesson on teasing. But that's not his style. He continues and pushes through as she groans her release gripping a pillow over her face. Cassian gets back down on his knees and starts to lick up her folds, tasting her orgasm on his tongue. But before he starts on her second orgasm, Nesta takes him by the hair and pulls him back up. "We got to be quick, no time for playing," she says, taking the lead and unzipping his jeans, freeing him from his pants. Cassian goes to his back pocket, pulling out his wallet where he stores his extra condom only for times he knows he would be meeting with Nesta.
Nesta slips it on to him. "Do you want me to ride you?" She asks. Cassian shakes his head and lays on top of her. He would rather do it the old fashion vanilla way. He sinks back into her, and he closes his eyes. It never stops surprising him how warm she was. He stills for a second before Nesta hooks her legs around his back and pushes him farther into her. He gets the hint and starts moving. They start off slow and then build, making sure that they are still quiet. Nesta grips his scalp with one hand and her other she digs her nails into his shoulder. He doesn't mind pain during sex, not with Nesta.
"Batboy, you need to be quiet," she whispers into his ear. "You need to be quiet."
"It's hard when you feel so fucking good," he says through his teeth. He raises to his hands, trying not to lay fully on her. He rocks back and forth, trying to get her closer to her second release before he goes.
This position wasn't working. He slides out of her. "What are you doing," she growls, looking at him angrily. He tells her to flip onto her stomach. She does still glaring at him over her shoulder. He lifts up her hips and sheaths his penis back into her. And that was better. Nesta grabs for a pillow putting it under her chest as he pounds into her.
Her ass felt wonderful under his hands. If they were back in his apartment, he would have given them a nice spanking, but in fear of the noise, he gropes them instead. He is near his climax. He leans down, biting not too hard on to her shoulder, muffling his groan of release. Nesta sighs contently. Cassian gets up and slips the condom off. He looks around and goes to throw it out in the ensuite bathroom trash, making sure to hide it in a wad of tissue. He comes back into the bedroom and kisses Nesta. She pats his cheek.
"As all ways, great work," she says, getting up and fixes her self. She goes into the bathroom to check her makeup and hair. Cassian zips up his fly and straightens out his sweater.
Nesta comes out of the bathroom. "I'll go out first, wait for two minutes and then slip out." She kisses his cheek and heads out of the guestroom. Cassian sits on the bed, pulling out his phone. He looks to see a message from Az, just a winky face from ten minutes ago. Cassian holds back a groan. Great, just fucking great.

Star Trek TOS First Time Viewing  Reaction - S2E2: Who Mourns for Adonais?
DISCLAIMER: I have seen some TNG and Voyager when I was a child and later the AOS movies as a teenager. I felt quarantine time was the right moment to begin the ambitious project “Star Trek marathon 2020/(2021?20??)”, meaning I’m going to watch all of Star Trek starting with TOS finishing with Disco (or maybe we have Strange New Worlds by the time I catch up haha). I started TOS last month and I AM LIVING. IT’S AWESOME and sparks so much joy. I decided I could just write up my thoughts as I am viewing it for the first time as a memory of the experience, not knowing most episodes at all. So, there we go.
Spoilers obviously - just in case somebody else is 50 years late like me, haha.
Opening scene: Scotty flirts with a female lieutenant on the bridge. So far so cute. What about the dialogue from Bones and Kirk accompanying this scene though?
MCCOY: I'm not sure I like that, Jim. KIRK: Why, Bones? Scotty's a good man. MCCOY: And he thinks he's the right man for her, but I'm not sure she thinks he's the right man. On the other hand, she's a woman. All woman. One day she'll find the right man and off she'll go, out of the service. KIRK: I like to think of it not so much losing an officer as gaining SCOTT: Come along. (He and Carolyn enter the turbolift.) KIRK: Actually, I'm losing an officer.
like - what? I had to rewatch this scene to fully understand what they’re saying. I think it’s interesting that, despite TOS being like 50 years old now, I find it easy to forget we’re actually in the 60s/70s when binge watching. Watching it now is sometimes a weird meta experience as you tend to overlook elements that were considered super futuristic in the 60s but are perfectly normal now, so that you actually miss some FUTURISTIC elements because you’re living those aspects of FUTURE already. Yes, of course women quitting their jobs after marriage still happens, but it is not considered a “rule” or “natural order of events” anymore, and is (talking from a western perspective) more of a choice and you would not assume this happening automatically. Especially if you produced an utopian sci-fi series today, that concept would probably not be included. Anyway, it’s pretty interesting that female Starfleet members seem to drop out of service after marriage and it is not considered something a captain or anyone can do something about in the future (I mean, apparently the men still continue their service? I only have divorced Bones for reference so far though). Anyway, TLDR, I am not judging the 60s relics as they are a product of their time, I think they are rather an interesting addition to the viewing experience in 2020, considering the writers did think this concept would persist in the far future. Back to the episode.
IS THAT A GIANT HAND IN SPACE
I love that Chekov casually assumes he has hallucinations - like bro do you have reasons to believe that and what did you do in your free time
This hand really kills me. I also could not believe what I am seeing but I love it
Spock stating he is not offended because you need emotions to be offended - interesting, Spock, so what happened when Kirk pulled a yo mama joke on you in that Paradise Hippie Love Romance Pollen episode (man that was a gem of an episode)
Chekov has one of the most HILARIOUS lines in that episode (next to having one of the most hilarious hairstyles, his hairstyle looks like an interesting over the top take on the Beatles haircut and his head looks so much like a mushroom I feel like he has a side job in Mario Kart):
APOLLO: Search your most distant memories, those of the thousands of years past, and I am there. Your fathers knew me, and your father's fathers. I am Apollo.
CHEKOV: And I am the tsar of all the Russias.
KIRK: Mister Chekov.
CHEKOV: I'm sorry, Captain. I never met a god before.
Chekov be sassy to gods
I can’t let this haircut go, as it got me thinking: Is there a hairdresser on the Enterprise?
That’s a thing to explore
What gossip that person might hear sign me up
So, the guy really is the God Apollo huh
Costume note 1: That toga Apollo wears is SO SMALL like - “SIR nice to meet you but you’re REVEALING THINGS please sit with more modesty OR - NO NOT LIKE THAT”
Costume note 1, addition: Nice to see the ratio of revealing costumes of men & women wearing sexy revealing clothing in this episode is very equal
Apollo really has a worshipping kink huh
But as a Greek god you probably have that
Also where ARE the other gods? Like he just casually says they are all gone... “with the wind” but... why? Did they suffer from worship withdrawal like he does now?
Also: I really LOVE the concept they introduced that the Ancient Greek gods were just a bunch of space travellers visiting Earth who decided to chill there for a while and be all powerful and worshipped. But as Kirk says in the end they were a huge factor for mankind to move to the Golden Age, which is a cool thought.
Seriously what a fun premise? I would watch that as a series. Hera, Artemis, Zeus, Apollo etc. all chilling on their ship and having fights and romances and space adventures on strange planets. I imagine them being a really chaotic and high-maintenance bunch though
Thinking about it, Apollo said he was a demi-god with a human mother (if I understood that correctly) so basically he was born on Earth and never saw (what I assumed is) their home planet until he was an adult and they returned (why did they return?)? But the Enterprise crew defeats him by finding out his “god powers” are actually originating from the temple structure on the planet, so does that work long distance then?? Like they could access their home planet powers from far away...? And not the powers themselves are passed down by genes but rather the access to it? Or is it that they need worship to thrive (like that’s why it worked on Earth and they just need a temple?) Questions over questions. Love the concept overall.
Kirk, Scotty and Chekov talking about energy patterns and science and how to defeat Apollo (also Chekov you’re such a smart boy! and he says he is only 22 in this episode awwW and the others are looking at him like - wow a child is with us) and Bones just randomly... grabs a bowl of fruit, holds it a bit and puts it aside - as I saw no note for that in the script I think it was improvised by Kelley... but why? Like was somebody from the staff whispering last minute “oh no that bowl is ruining the shot take it away subtly if you can”? It really startled me but it’s kinda funny.
Chekovs hair is even more FLUFFY and voluminous in this scene like did they bring the Enterprise’s hairdresser with them? (It’s cute)
CHEKOV: Perhaps if I assisted. KIRK: How old are you? CHEKOV: Twenty two, sir. KIRK: Then I'd better handle it.
Also I like protective Scotty in this episode. I think it is one of the first times he really gets some character development and proper screen time
Kirk being choked by Apollo is on the thin line of really intense acting and passing into Shatners school of overacting but - it works so I am giving a thumbs up for very INTENSE acting
I feel somebody shouted at him “MORE INTENSE” “MORE MOANING” “INTENSITYYY” “BE MORE CHOKED”
Lieutenant Carolyn is kind of a weak character and is pretty much the embodiment of a 60s ideal of a woman but HELL she is beautiful
Costume Note 3: I actually like the cut of her costume, it is an imaginative take on the toga and also sexy - I was surprised they aired it like that tbh - like from one side it looks like she is topless really
Costume Note 3 addition: but then HOW did they fix it? Like she’s not wearing any kind of bra and the fabric is not attached to anything so I guess they glued it to her skin in a lot of places huh - also there is a scene with a storm and a strong wind where I feel the way she tries to protect and cover herself is not just acting but really an attempt by the actress to catch her costume from flying away and not trusting the glue the costume people used
I don’t want to imagine how many wardrobe malfunctions she had with that costume and how many times she stood there topless in front of everyone so... idk
I guess same goes for Apollos costume lol so fair
On a more positive note on the portrayal of women is Uhura’s role here. Her in that mechanics uniform building a bypass circuit in that crammed space under her console (she still has her full hairdo which gets all squished oh NO and the hairdresser is down on the planet fixing Chekovs mushroom!) - you go girl
UHURA: Mister Spock, I haven't done anything like this in years. If it isn't done just right, I could blow the entire communications system. It's very delicate work, sir.
SPOCK: I can think no one better equipped to handle it, Miss Uhura. Please proceed.
Thumbs up for the supporting Spock.
Also I love every time Spock takes over the Bridge. It’s so cool.
So that’s all! Overall a campy episode at first look but I was pleasantly surprised by the concept of the Greek Gods being space travellers etc. Thumbs up for that giant hand too (pun intended). I like to imagine that like with episodes that play in a middle-age setting they just had a set from another movie lying around and thought - how can we make this a strange planet - but that’s really part of the charme of it for me.
This was a long text huh.
BONUS QUOTE (or rather BONES QUOTE?) - as it was my favorite:
MCCOY: To coin a phrase, fascinating.

Hell and Back (Part 1)
Summary: Y/N Winchester is an enigma wrapped in a riddle. The half-sibling of the famed brothers and she was there through it all. Until now. After Jack’s birth she made a deal with Batman himself. His money for her expertise. She can pay for a real school and some online classes for her and Jack. All she has to do is enlighten the Team about her world. Easy peasy, right? Pairing: Supernatural x Reader x Young Justice Word Count: 1912 Warnings: None.
Tumblr media
A/N: Might not do a second part. Not sure how I feel about this?
"What's this about a new member?" Wally all but sped into the lounge of Mount Justice. The team were splayed casually across the room. Robin lifted his head from his laptop, frowning at the speedster and tilting his head. "Did anyone even know? Batman just brought some girl through, talking about how she'd fit right in."
Artemis sat up quickly from where she'd been splayed on an armchair sharpening her arrows. M'gann's head snapped up in confusion. It seemed they hadn't known and by the others expressions they hadn't been enlightened either. Even Kaldur looked surprised, which was more that concerning considering he was the Team leader.
"Bats hasn't mentioned anything," Robin furrowed his eyebrows. He was quiet for a moment as if stuck in a deep thought. "Though he has made an unusual amount of business trips to Lebanon, Kansas. Does the girl look like this?"
The boy wonder turned his computer, showing the team - some of whom had to lean in comically to see - a photo. The girl was about Artemis' age, H/L H/C hair and E/C eyes. She was pretty if they were being honest but threatening. Her expression was hard and her eyes were set in a partial glare as if that was her default look. Wally gave a nod, causing half the team to deflate in annoyance. How was it fair for her to just be permitted onto the team. M'gann grinned at the picture, obviously happy to have another girl on the team - intense stare or no.
"What do you know of her?" Robin shrugged at Kaldur's question. Wally super sped over to his friend, snatching the computer to look at whatever the boy had open. It was a file on the girl and three other men. Robin gave an indignant cry chasing after the boy as he read the information to the team, all the while dodging the angered bird.
"Says here her names Y/N Winchester," Wally side stepped Robin with a smug grin. "Age 16, daughter of Dean Winchester-"
"What?" Conner raised an eyebrow at the boy. "Keep going, what else?"
"That's it." The room paused, even Robin stopped jumping for the machine, if only for a moment. "No medical records, no criminal records, no nothing."
Someone coughed loudly, tearing everyones gaze from Wally to the person. With the distraction Robin apprehended his computer and scurried back to his seat. Batman pegged them all with the famed Bat-glare™. Behind him a girl stood, hands on her hips and a wide smirk on her face. She wore a red plaid shirt unbuttoned over a white top and a pair of denim shorts. The team stared at the girl who looked nothing like her photo. Where it depicted a teen ready to murder the next person she met, this girl looked just as prepared to charm them to death.
She looked up at Batman and gave him a sincere smile. "I can handle it from here Batsy, thanks for the tour. Be sure to keep up your end of the bargain and I think we can do some good work here."
The bat merely grunted but a soft curve of his lips betrayed him as he flourished his cape and left. Y/N grinned at the assembled team and with a fluid few steps she slumped herself into the only empty armchair. Some of the members simply stared at the girl who dared to speak to the Batman like that. Better yet to demand something like a deal from him. The girl looked up meeting their looks before shifting into a proper sitting form.
Y/N opened her mouth as if to introduce herself but instead she decided on, "That informations wrong you know."
Robin gave an indignant grunt that was almost the spitting image of Batman's. It was Wally who spoke up for the Boy Wonder, "It's a Federal Record how is it wrong?"
"Because Wallace West," A pointed use of his identity that the group noticed. Though there was humour in the girl's voice, "Dean Winchester is my brother, I'm 15 and have a Criminal Record that runs for days."
"Ex-Villain then?" Artemis sat up to rest her arms against her legs. "Yeah we get those."
"Hardly," She snorted. "You civilians don't really call us anything, especially not Villain."
Aqualad rather uncharacteristically spat out his drink at the title. Had Y/N, this girl they'd just met, called them Civilians? Kaldur gave her an incredulous look. "We do not appreciate name-calling on this Team Miss Winchester. If you wish to be integrated into the group I would advise you refrain from it in future."
"Oh, I'm just here for the money," She grinned upside down at him as he once again spat out his drink. Money? Conner asked as much, his threatening tone not giving the woman a moment of pause. "You guys need me so Batsy is paying me to help."
"Are you mental?" Wally asked, nearly sincere. "We don't need someone like you. Saving people isn't some way to make money, it's-"
"The Family Business!" She leapt from her seat and stalked to the speedster, shoving a finger to his chest giving it a firm jab. "Saving People," Jab. "Hunting Things," Jab. "The Family Business." Jab. Jab. "Trust me I know, I've been in it since I was four. But you do need me, like it or not Kid Flash."
"So what?" The red head grunted. "You've been at it longer than we have? From my guess you're not Meta, maybe trained but by your not built as well as most of us. What's so special about you?"
"I'm an expert in the field that your all about to enter." A sly grin grew over the girls face. Wally opened his mouth to shoot something back but she beat him to it, "Did you know Wally that the only way to kill a vampire is beheading? Or that demons have to be killed with a one of a kind knife that I own? Or that the scruffy Chuck forsaken mutt in the foyer is half hellhound?"
The room burst into hysterical laughter that boomed off the walls. A few fell from seats or keeled over to clutch at their stomachs. Someone gave a howl of amusement, M'gann clutched at Conner's shoulder. Artemis was all but rolling on the floor, mouthing the words to herself just to curl up in a fit again. Wally was trying - and horribly failing - to hold it in. Robin huffed out something about having any proof between coughing fits. Once they'd calmed down Y/N deigned to answer.
"Round three years ago, the sun dimmed." She raised an eyebrow waiting for them to acknowledge her statement with a round of nods. "That was my brothers and I loosing a fight to God's sister, Amara. Four years before some biblical shit went down. Mass killings, plague of locusts, entire towns eating themselves to death, weather surges. That was the apocalypse. Beginning of this year power in half the country went out? Antichrist's birth, his name is Jack."
Some more hysteria, some wiping tears from their eyes. She supposed it would sound insane. Y/N had never had to explain it, that was Sam's job. And that was usually after a civilian had seen something supernatural already. The group began to quiet when Y/N rolled her eyes and marched into the centre of the room. Falling to her knees on the carpet she pressed her palms together and waited for utter silence.
"Hey Jack," She tilted her head back further, eyes closed reverently. "I know you and the boys are usually busy with the whole Michael thing but I could use a second opinion. I'm not hurt but I could use a hand."
Y/N opened her eyes and waited as the group barely surpassed snickers. Some muttering about religion loonies and she sent a glare in their direction. A signature whoosh of wind shut them all up. They turned slowly to the source as Y/N's eyes light up and she sprung up. Jack was standing with an adorably cute confused look on his face. He tilted his head at her in that way of his.
"Who are they N/N?" He waved at the group with a small smile.
"Well Jack-a-boy," She skipped to his side and ruffled his hair - though he looked quite a bit older and was a head taller. "This is the team I told you about. You know that hero team, their leader is giving us money so we can go to school. Cool right?"
The team blinked at the pair in confusion. School? Y/N was doing this so she could go to school when her friend was able to just teleport here? When she'd proved that the supernatural was real. Jack's eyes light up delighted and he grinned spinning the small woman round. She looked several years younger - in fact he seemed of legal age - and yet he was more of a child. Some gave her a pitiful look when she and Jack stopped spinning.
"So that blonde one is Artemis, then Wally, Kaldur, Conner and Megan." She pointed to each making them flinch with each name drop. "You can just call that one Robin. Team this is Jack Kline, he's Lucifer's son."
Jack screwed up his face at that, "Biologically. The Winchester's are my real family."
"Dude how old are you?" Wally muttered, though Jack had picked it up with his intense Celestial hearing.
"One year, four months, eight days and three hours." He told them seriously, they mostly just stared. "So N/N what did you need help with?"
"So I'm going to have to stay here a while Jacky." He pouted playfully at his least favourite nickname. "Anyway, with so many angels all over from the fall and the demons thinking we're still trying to shut hell, I need to put some warding up. I thought you could give me hand, I know Sammy's had you reading up on it at the bunker."
Wally gave Y/N a doe eyed look, "You live in a bunker and don't go to school? How much do you need this money?"
"Jeez dude, not that much." She huffed, giving Jack an encouraging smile. The nephilim nodded and snapped his fingers, eyes glowing golden as the walls shimmered. Runes splattered themselves up the wall.
"Is that needed?" Robin stared almost horrified at the marked wall, even as the symbols turned invisible.
"It is if you want Y/N here," Jack nodded thoughtfully. "She's a walking talking supernatural magnet. Not every human has been to hell and back, let alone heaven and purgatory. Anyway Y/N I've gotta head back, I think we caught a vamp nest up north."
"Have fun!" She pecked his cheek and waved as he flurried off in a tumble of shadow wings.
"Hell and back." Someone repeated as she turned back to the team. They were staring at her, as their worlds crashed around them. Y/N gave a nod, slumping back into her self-claimed armchair. They stared blankly at her.
The room erupted in questions.

Greek Gods Series Prologue Poseidon Aphrodite Ares Artemis Interlude Hades Hermes Zeus Ship: Pirate!Mina | Pirate!Reader | Merman!Jimin Description: Pirate!AU | Beginning your new life as a pirate had its hardships- and it all started with something called Fate. Warnings: Fingering, Oral, Dirty Talk, Exhibitionism? Violence, Assault, Angst, Death Word Count: 15,257 A/N: Cover finally up! Enjoy the first part of this series! It took me forever to write.
Your dress had been heavy and rather bothersome, taking up too much space and frankly making the temperature sweltering for you. But still, you climbed on board after your brother, your bags being loaded upon the ship. The strands of hair that poked out from your tight bun seemed to sway in the wind, and you adored the smell of the salty sea air and the wind hitting your face in a nipping breeze. It wasn't often you got to travel, but your brother had apparently found some really cheap ride, though the ship was dirty and small, and rumor had it the Captain was one of those more-so old fashioned crazies.
Nevertheless, you rushed immediately down below the deck, zipping past so quickly it seemed as though none of the sailors or male passengers noticed your bulky dress decorated with ruffles and laces. You were entranced the minute your eyes spectated below deck, ignoring the smell of dead fish to instead look down at some of the knickknacks and other goods they had stowed away. Tools, junk, and so much more, and you were fascinated. Each artifact seemed to tell a different tale for the adventures of a sailor.
You found yourself pondering over what it'd be like to be a sailor already. Only a few minutes on this ship, and already you were bothering yourself with fantasies you knew could never happen. Women could never become sailors. That was a man's job. Why, there used to be superstitions that it was bad luck for a woman to be on a ship, though the only ones who still believed that myth were the crazies who weren't in touch with the present day. Still, women were to carry around umbrellas to keep their skin fair for future husbands, wearing thick layers of skirts for poofy dresses that made them feel like fainting in the sweltering heat. You weren't even allowed to travel without a man, which is why you were here with your brother, Baekhyun.were the crazies who weren't in touch with the present day.
The smell of raw fish and musk was getting to you, and you were easily there for more than an hour. You assumed the ship had already departed from shore, based on how the ship seemed to rock, some of the objects sliding across the wooden floor. You heard shouts and such from above deck and assumed people were too busy letting the ship depart to come below deck and meet you. That didn't matter. You were perfectly content examining the knickknacks that were scattered across the floor. You found yourself perfectly enchanted.
"Aleena?" your brother called. You instantly recognized his voice, hearing his footsteps as he went below deck with you. "Hey, did you know that this is apparently a pirate ship? No wonder it was so cheap!"
"Baek, you idiot, you got us on something as dangerous as a pirate ship?" you scolded teasingly. In reality, you didn't think much of it, especially with how fascinated you already were with the ship itself, as well as the contents it contained. You already suspected it was a pirate ship, based on the whispers about it and the captain, as well as the exterior and interior. That, and the way the  "Why are they accepting passengers though?"
"Well, apparently they were stopping by here to get some supplies for their voyage, and I more or less went to one of the sailors who was boarding the ship with goods whether or not he'd accept two passengers, and if they were stopping by the same place we were. He agreed and muttered something about 'money is money' and let us get on board. That's when I called you up.”
"You're joking," you shook your head. "Baekhyun, how are you so cheap?"
"You're not complaining now, are you? This place was a steal! I mean, sure, we'll probably live like pirates for the next few weeks until we get there- which happens to be their first stop, thankfully. The other place would've cost a fortune, you know. Besides, the guys here are saying that they'd like to recruit me!"
"Like you'd become a pirate," you laughed. "What, with the eye patches and wooden legs these guys are wearing? As if!"
"That's exactly why they need some new guys!" Baekhyun points out. "You know, the ones that aren't missing body parts. I think I'd rock at being a pirate, I dreamed of being one when I was little and everything! You remember when I made one of the servants help me make a little wooden sword and everything."
"I had to fight you with my parasol," you chuckled. "And I won!"
"Whatever," he scoffs. "The point is I'd totally rock at being a pirate."
"Well, what's stopping you? These guys are recruiting, and they're clearly looking for you to be their newest member. If you've fantasized and such with the concept so often, what's holding you back?"
"You of course," he says, ruffling your hair fondly. "I can't abandon my baby sister. You're a girl, and in this world, you can't do much for yourself. You know you're destined to marry and such, and sadly enough in today's age, you're nothing without a husband. What, with your fluffy dress and laces and everything- you'd be helpless! You need me to protect you until a decent guy comes along and pays me to give your hand."
You rolled your eyes, the sickening truth behind his words making it all too revolting. You had no rights, and you were simply seen as property. But leave it to your dimwitted, cheap brother to rub it in your face. "Tell you what, if I die or get married, you go off and become a pirate. Deal?"
"Oh sure," he laughed. "Alright, deal. I'll be a hell of a good pirate, mind you."
"I'm sure you will," you hum. Perhaps your brother could. He always acted as though he was so fed up with his life of luxury and relaxation, and he learned from your penny-pinching father to save his money whatever way he could. He dreamed of adventures and such, always causing a ruckus in your house and insisting on learning reading and writing was an absolute bore and a waste of time. He'd give you his books and such because he didn't care for them, and with it, you learned how to read and write on your own, as well as receiving a little bit of help from your brother, who didn't mind teaching you things in a way to feel superior. Your brother had a fragile ego where he fed off of attention and encouragement, who enjoyed feeling better than someone, but those were just the flaws he had. He was still sweet and protective (though sometimes too much), and most of all he loved you.
"We should go above deck anyway. What're you doing down here?" he asked you.
"Look at the small treasures I've found!" you said, gesturing to the tiny items you found. Intricate shells, rusted hooks, and so much more that had you marveling for more than an hour.
"This junk?" Baekhyun guffawed, "Aleena, this is useless and worthless! They aren't worth a cent. we've already gone so far out into the sea and departed, and you've been down here with this stuff the entire time? You'd figure pirates would steal gold and stuff, not keep around these things! You should've looked for gold."
"Not everything has value in coins," you roll your eyes, starting to put away the things where you found them. "Besides, I won't rob these people. I'm not so money-obsessed as you are."
"I'm just smart like our father," Baekhyun huffed. "I'm good at managing money. But could you imagine how much these guys would make?"
"No clue, but clearly they're like you if they aren't spending it on making their ship a bit nicer," you point out. "C'mon, I've been down here for too long. I need some fresh air."
Baekhyun leads you up to above deck, where immediately you smelled the scent of the salty sea, accompanied with the harsh wind kissed your skin. You let out a sigh of content, dragging your dress up as you wandered above the deck. Eyes were on you, and you heard the other sailors murmur and grunt in your direction, giving you the stink eye. You noticed there were no women on board, but what did you expect? Whoever heard of a woman pirate? Pirates were especially superstitious!
A man with tattered clothes and teeth so yellow you couldn't believe it wasn't butter staggered up to the two of you, his glare menacing as he shoved Baekhyun with one filthy hand. "Ye didn't say the other passenger was a girl," he growled.
"She's my sister, what's the big deal?" Baekhyun defended. "I simply said there'd be another passenger with me."
"The big deal? The big deal is that she's a woman!" the man roared. "Why, what will the captain think that I let you on here? We've already been out at sea for quite a while, son, and it's too late to turn back! Don't you know it's dangerous to have a woman on board?"
"It's not like she'll do anything. Look at her, she couldn't hurt a fly!" Baekhyun protested. "What're you going on about? We just needed a ride!"
"Captain!"
Immediately, everyone turned their attention to a scraggly bearded man who seemed to be twice the size of your dress alone. He looked gruff and dirty, stomping towards you and roughly grabbing you by the arm, causing you to shriek and yelp at how his jagged nails seemed to even pierce into your skin through the sleeve. "A woman! What treachery is this? Are you trying to give us bad luck? We'll sink at this rank!"
"What are you talking about?" Baekhyun guffawed, trying to yank you back into his arms.
"It's bad luck to have a woman on a ship, it'll bring on dangerous storms that'll come for her- and for our ship too," the captain growled. "Haven't you seen the storm already approaching in the distance? This is why women aren't allowed on the ship!"
"That's ridiculous! What're you going to do? I won't let you touch her!" Baekhyun said, pulling you into his arms and glaring at the captain. "That's a stupid superstition!"
"Are you sure you want to do that, boy?" the other pirate questioned, raising one bushy brow to your brother. "I thought you had real potential. You could make a fortune with us, and you seem to be the perfect candidate, you'd be very valuable. Would you like to join your sister when we throw you overboard?"
Baekhyun's eyes widened, and he gulped nervously. You noticed how his brows jumped at the word fortune, and how fear struck his eyes at the word overboard. You narrowed your eyes, livid as you shoved him back. "Don't you dare think about it, Baekhyun! I'm your sister!"
"I-I..." Baekhyun gulped.
Your eyes widened, and you stomped closer. He was actually considering this! He hesitated and everything! "Fucking coward!"
More men came over, scooping you up and holding you back by your arms, and you were left flailing, with your legs kicking wildly in the air through your dress that weighed you down. Your eyes were filled with tears already at the betrayal. "I can't believe you! You fucking bitch! I hate you I hate you I hate you!"
"She's got quite a mouth on her, she speaks like one of us after a cup of rum," one of the men holding you snickered.
"Captain, mind if we use her dirty mouth for something else?" the other man holding you asked, wiggling his brows suggestively. Hoots and hollers of approval rounded about the deck, nearing closer as your eyes widened with fear, terror written across your face. Was your brother going to stand for this? For you to get raped and thrown overboard?
"We don't have time for that, the storm's quickly approaching for her," the captain grunted. "Chain up her legs and prepare for the seas to toss her over. The ocean can decide the maiden's fate."
"Captain, what for the boy?" a pirate muttered gruffly. "Should he join his sister, for giving us this burden?"
"I see potential in him," the captain answered. "He can prove his loyalty. That is, if he's willing?"
They looked expectantly to your brother, and your own eyes peered at him with anger and curiosity for whatever actions he'd take next.
Baekhyun gulped nervously, his Adam's apple bobbing along the column of his throat with fear. "A-Ah, yes, Captain."
The captain gave a rather toothy grin, a tooth of gold gleaming almost as brightly as his eyes did with mischievousness. "Perfect. Tie the chains around your sister's legs, and then push her off the plank yourself. That's how you'll prove your loyalty."
You let out a cry of no, eyes swimming with tears as your body jolted forward, only for the men holding you to snap you back up. "Baekhyun, you can't! Please, don't do this, n-no, please!"
"Hurry and hold her down!" the captain ordered. "Get the chains for the boy, the storm's a comin'!"
You were slammed down onto the ground, and one of your arms slipped from your captor's grasp. You tried to scramble up, only to be jerked roughly back down. Tears streamed down your cheeks as you screamed for help, knowing it was all in vain. A man handed your brother chains, and Baekhyun felt how they weighed down his arms, and he bent down and hiked up your skirt, other men holding down your kicking legs, some hands venturing a bit too far up your thigh than you'd like. You wanted to scream, but a hand slapped against your mouth, making your whimpers for mercy practically silent. You let out choked, gurgled cries as you felt the cold and heavy chains begin to tie at your ankles.
You looked at Baekhyun in sheer terror, and he showed you an expression of sorrow and regret but continued. "I'm sorry," he whispered, and you wanted to scream at him that was such bullshit. This betrayal hurt, and you most certainly didn't want to die sinking to the bottom of the ocean.
"Hurry up and get her on the plank! The storm's above us now," the captain urged, staring up at the sky as dark clouds hurriedly rolled in. You stared up at the lightning that briefly flashed in the clouds, not a single drop of water coming over your heads yet. You didn't have much time.
"Get her up, get her up! We've got to hurry for the sacrifice," a pirate shouted. You were picked up, the chains bearing you down beneath your thick dress as they set up a plank, making it sturdy as they prepared your literal downfall.
You were placed on the plank, your feet bound together with chains that weighed you down. You saw as someone roughly pushed your brother forward, whose knees buckled together as he stared at you.
You were trembling, unable to move. "Baekhyun, please, don't do this," you begged him quietly.
"Aleena," he said firmly, taking a step forward. You took a step back with what little movement your chains allowed. The very chains your brother wrapped around your legs for you to sink to the ocean floor, where you'd be left with nothing more than a skeleton with rusted chains bound around her. He took another step, you took another one back, and you were crying so badly, your body wracked with sobs. You were crying so hard, and Baekhyun just kept taking shaky steps forward. You were well above the water now and by this point, Baekhyun knew that one more step and you'd be tumbling into the depths of the unforgiving sea.
His hands were trembling as he raised them up to you, and you shook your head violently, unable to speak. You wanted to curse. You wanted to beg. You wanted to live.
"I love you," Baekhyun whispered, placing his hands on your shoulders before shoving you into the sea.
The cold water nipped at your skin, and you submerged into the icy depths, your heavy skirt and chains dragging you down faster and faster. You did your best to hold the breath in your lungs, trying to kick off the chains that restrained movements from your legs, your arms clawing up in frantic movements to bring you back to the surface, which seemed to distance itself with each passing second.
It was getting so cold already, and you felt as though more weight was pressing you down, your lungs starting to burn. Your mouth opened, and tiny bubbles escaped from your parted lips. Your lungs felt as though they'd burst, and you tried to scramble, getting your billowing skirt up as you searched through the fabric, trying to find the chains. Your lungs felt as though they were about to burst, and you tugged on the iron, feeling a bit of resistance.
You were starting to go deeper and deeper, and the chains were only giving so much. If you only got it a bit looser, perhaps you'd be able to escape. You were yanking as hard as you could, feeling around since your skirt seemed to fly up into your face, blocking your vision, though it was already darkening. Your lungs were about to give way, and all of the breath you barely managed to capture during your plunge into death was about to escape.
Perhaps your mind was playing tricks on you, but you could've sworn you felt another pair of hands tugging at your chains until they unraveled around your legs. You didn't waste time thinking about it though, and desperately swam up to the top, your lungs about to burst as adrenaline pumped, and you kicked beneath the dress that was dragging you down.
You made it to the surface, taking in greedy breaths for air, gulping desperately for the oxygen to slam back into your lungs. You struggled to stay up, your dress still trying to pull you into the depths of the unforgiving ocean. You were paddling for so long, struggling to stay above water. You were alone, a victim of the elements, and it didn't seem to be getting any better. You were alone, with only the storm overhead to comfort you.
You didn't know how long you were swimming now. You couldn't even see the ship anymore. It had abandoned you, just as your brother had. You cursed him bitterly, your tears being swallowed by the sea. Your vision was fading, your strength failing you. You had flailed about so much, and the sky was so dark, save for the few flashes of lightning that grazed the bleary sky. You were starving, and thirsty, and tired. But as you started to sink down, content to let the inevitable death consume you, the blurry figure of a man with a glorious, glimmering tail seemed to reach out to you.
And with that, your eyes shut.
"Hoist her up!" The cries sounded from above, and you opened your eyes, fluttering your lashes and the bright light of day overwhelmed your senses. Were you in heaven? Your vision cleared, and you realized there was an arm tightly bound around your waist, keeping you up. You looked over to see a grinning girl who was soaked to the bone, her smile cheerful and her eyes glimmering with something you didn't recognize. You were shocked, and stared down, noticing the sea beneath your feet was getting farther and farther, though the waves that splashed against the side of the boat threatened to drag you back. You clutched onto the girl, who laughed heartily, gripping onto the rope as the people above deck dragged you two up.
"Finally awake I see?" the woman laughed. "Luckily you were spotted out at sea, and we directed the boat to you. I'm surprised you're awake, you were on the verge of death a minute ago!"
"Who are you?" you stammered, perplexed as your senses slowly took over.
"Captain Mina," she smirked.
"Captain?" you asked, looking up to the many hands offering to pull you up. You grabbed onto one, slipping out of Mina's grasp to climb on board, and you rolled over on the wooden ground, sputtering out water once your body slammed against it. You stared down at the boots and such, afraid you landed on another pirate ship to be thrown over. But that was strange, how could a woman be on a pirate ship? Or be a captain, no less?
But you stared up, seeing the faces of only women peering down at you, their expressions marked with curiosity and concern as you gawked up at them. Mina jumped on board, offering a hand to you with a bright expression, letting you take her hand as you awkwardly pulled yourself up. She wrapped her arm around your shoulders, pulling you closer as you gestured to the crew of women, all aboard a pirate ship.
"Welcome," she introduced, her voice ringing out. "To the Siren!"
"How do you have a ship of just women? I was the only one on one ship and I was thrown off," you say, blinking up at her in surprise.
Her face soured. "That's exactly the problem. Plenty of women here have been thrown off ships or abandoned by men, though of course, we have the ones who simply dreamed of this lifestyle or have no other choice. We rescue and recruit women who have been tossed into the sea to die, and we continue our path to find riches and adventure!"
"We spit on the men who believe we're less than them!" another girl cried. "Why, we even stole this ship! She's named the Siren, and any man's ship we come across, she beckons, and sinks the ship to the sea!" Her statement was received with hoots and hollers of approval from the women around her.
Mina grinned to you, her smile warm. "What's your story, girl? And name? You must be up class, what with your fancy dress and all. But I'm surprised you didn't sink to the bottom wearing that!"
You notice how it's stuck to your skin, the many layers drenched and leaving a pool of salt water at your feet. You run your hands through your sopping wet hair, letting out a breathy sigh. "I'm Aleena, a-and my brother had found a cheap ride, but once they found out a woman was on board they had him tie the chains around my feet and push me off the plank." You simply spouted out the truth, unable to tell what else you could.
"Ah, a pity," Mina shook her head. "But however did you get out of the chains? You ought to be dead!"
"I-I don't know," you admitted. "I guess my brother wasn't so good at tying the chains. He's never done something like that before."
"Ah, well how lucky you are then!" she cheered. "For now you shall become a new recruit with us. Unless you'd like to be dropped off simply at the next stop, but I'm sure you wouldn't be able to get any help or resources there. It'd be best for you to stay with us on our adventures. You're a survivor, and clearly, the God of the Seas is on your side! You could prove to be a valuable sailor."
"I-I," you stammer, stunned. "Y-Yes, Captain."
She grinned brighter, her eyes twinkling. She hugged you a bit tighter, her sopping wet sleeve over your own as she gripped you tightly. "You'll make a fine pirate, Aleena. I'll take you under my wing myself. You'll be a master at our works in no time. I'll start training you first thing tomorrow morning. For now, Nayeon will give you a fresh pair of clothes, some spare food, and show you your lodgings. You must be exhausted. We'll wake you up tomorrow morning. It's a tough life out here at sea, but I promise you it's one you'll never forget it!"
You were then flown to the arms of another girl, whose gentle touches brought you below deck and to your lodgings, and immediately she handed you some clothes. Part of you already missed the friendly and warm arms of Mina- or, your new captain. It was all happening so quickly, you were overwhelmed. You really needed to sleep on it.
"Captain likes you," she spoke, helping you out of the tight and intricate torso of your dress. "It's clear. She likes you already, I've never seen her smile so much. It must be because you remind her of herself, or at least the old her."
"Huh?" you asked, letting out a sigh of relief once the tight, soaked fabric was off. You immediately got dressed in a shirt that was rather shabby- but overall clean enough, and far more comfortable than the restricting and thick layers of your usual dresses.
"It isn't my business to tell, but you'll find out eventually, and you should know anyway. It's weird I'm telling you so early, but I have a feeling you deserve to know," Nayeon shrugged, tossing the wet dress to the side as she handed you some pants. "But Captain was thrown off a ship by her own fiance, who planned to murder her that way to get out of the arranged marriage. She was a lot like you, fancy clothes, lost, but eventually, she gathered some other mistreated women- myself included- and we helped her take over the very same ship she was thrown off. This one. We snuck on in barrels as they were loading it and took over it in the night. We've been gathering more girls ever since."
"Wow," you breathed. "Rough. I'm so sorry that happened to her."
"Yeah, it makes sense you can empathize with her," Nayeon said, taking a look at your outfit. "You'll fit in here. Anyone who Mina likes everyone likes. She'll probably favor you, is what I'm guessing. She typically is a lot harder or more stern with new recruits, but she warmed up to you pretty quickly. She even offered private training, and that's definitely unheard of."
"Well, it's definitely a lot to wrap my head around," you murmur. "Everything's happening so quickly. One moment I'm on the brink of death, the next I'm in training to become a pirate."
"Yeah, these things aren't exactly the slow processes they make it out to be," Nayeon agreed. "But I think you'll like it enough here. If not, you are always free to leave. Typically we let the girl have some spare gold if she wants to leave so badly, but then she's on her own, and we're off to the next big thing. We only go out for more gold, more girls, and more adventures. It's not like any of us really plan on leaving anytime soon."
"Understood," you nodded. It was so much to process. Everything was happening so quickly.
"Now, let's get some scraps in your stomach, and then you can go to bed," Nayeon assured. "It's been a long day, and you have many more awaiting you." With that, she spun on her heel and went to get your food, and that marked the beginning of your life as a pirate.
"You're a fast learner, Aleena," Mina commented as your sword slashed through the air, colliding with hers. Her eyes sparkled as you swung back, letting the blades meet as you gritted your teeth. Mina laughed, "Only, what? Five months! Five months and you're already starting to become a challenge for me- woah!"
Your sword twisted and turned, locking with hers as you knocked it to the side, her sword clattering to the ground, sliding down away from her. She stared at you, jaw dropping with wide eyes as she processed the fact that you- the newest recruit of five months- had managed to disarm none other than the captain. The other girls on the ship gawked at the scene, wide-eyed. You blew a strand of hair out of your face, smirking at her as you pointed the tip of the sword at your beloved captain.
"Challenge, eh?" you grinned, your eyes twinkling. Mina's typical smile towards you reappeared, and she clapped slowly, nodding in approval.
"Not once since I've become captain has anyone been able to disarm me," she spoke. "You've proven to be an exceptional crew member, Aleena. You're a natural, somehow, and while I'm not going to give up my place as captain- for now," she winked, "I do think you'd make a fantastic first mate."
Nayeon squealed beside you, squeaking slightly as she squeezed your arm. "That's like second to the captain," Nayeon whispered excitedly. "They take over after the captain if the captain leaves or anything, but it's like second rank! It's a huge honor, and we haven't been able to pick one because no one fit the role, and while it's unusual for someone so new to be boosted up to that position, she's right! You've been a natural since day one! I mean no one's been such a good fighter especially, and you've battled all of us already during your training. Aleena, were you a pirate on another ship and you didn't tell us?"
You laughed, "You were there when I was found at sea! Definitely not."
"Well, Aleena?" Mina winked. "Will you take the position as my first mate?"
You brought your hand up to your forehead in a teasing manner, winking to her. "Aye aye, Captain!"
Mina's cheeks flushed red as she swatted you teasingly, her smile gummy and eyes sparkling just like yours, and your heart seemed to drum at a faster pace in your chest. You had a crush on your captain, sure, but it wasn't like some of the girls on this ship didn't fool around with one another. On a boat full of girls, there was definitely some business most wouldn't think of happening below deck during breaks. But no one cared, and no one minded, and any business they had could be settled between the two of them as long as no one else was dragged into anything messy, or as long as it didn't affect work.
But this was your captain. Sure, other girls confessed about crushing on her for a bit as well, and as friendly and joyous as she was- especially around you- you had to be reminded that she was off limits. Though, you didn't know how much closer this new position of first mate would bring you.first mate would bring you.
"Oh, by the way, you stay in the Captain's quarters!" Nayeon mentioned. "First mate shares a room with the captain."
Oh.
Your favorite spot had to be at the very top of the ship, at the crow's nest. A barrel to the very top where you could look out with a telescope or anything, in particular, to see if an island was approaching. It was horrible being up there during the day- scorching hot to the point blisters threatened to pop up on your skin, but at night, with the cool breeze, it was bliss.
You took in a deep breath, closing your eyes and taking in the scent of the salty sea air. You lost track of the months you stayed here. You remember how earlier on, you were more susceptible to sea sickness, staggering and barely able to hold a sword, easily defeated. But you were a natural when it came to picking up tips and tricks easily, using them for yourself. You were a quick learner, and you adapted to the life on the sea with time, embracing the sharp winds to the calming waters. You felt grounded in an odd sense like you belonged. The crew members liked you enough, and you were closest to Nayeon who always offered to explain something you didn't know, and Mina was always there for you, though sometimes the crush you suppressed got the best of you. But you did your best to keep a cool and collected persona, as though you knew exactly what you were doing, and perhaps that's why everyone thought you were perfect for the ship, and that you were a natural despite the lack of previous experience. You faked your confidence to the point it became real.
You thought back to the treacherous day your brother pushed you off the ship. You thought about it often, anger still bubbling up as you thought back. But you could've sworn when you were in the sea that you felt a different pair of hands yanking down your chains, and a blurry image of... you didn't even know. But something wasn't adding up, and even you knew that.
And then you thought back to your captain. She was someone who went through the same struggles you did, and overcame them, becoming a cheerful captain with control and happiness. She was content, she was beautiful, and she was out there rescuing women and getting treasure. How could someone be so marvelous, and choose you as first mate? You didn't know how long you were first mate now, months, at least, but the conversations and continuous time with the woman who made feelings arise didn't help your situation. Sleeping in the same room as her, spending almost every waking moment with her. She was so warm. So perfect.
"Hey, Aleena?" someone asked. You turned around, brushing back some of your hair that flowed in the wind as you saw none other than your captain climbing up the ladder and into the crow's nest. Well, speak of the devil.
"Oh, Captain!" you say, alarmed.
She shakes her head, smiling. "How many times do I have to tell you? When we're alone just call me Mina. You're my first mate, but when we're alone you're not. I don't want you to think of me as a captain all the time you know."
Truthfully you tried to avoid calling her real name because it would already add onto the thick tension between you two. "Y-Yeah, sorry Mina."onto the thick tension between you two. "Y-Yeah, sorry Mina."
She grinned, letting out a sigh of content as she leaned against the side of the crow's nest. "It's nice up here, isn't it?"
"I'll say," you sighed, closing your eyes as the night air kissed your skin. "This is what I could get used to."
Mina nodded in agreement, tilting her head back. "How have you enjoyed being first mate? You seemed to have handled it well so far."
"I mean, it's a lot of responsibility and hard work," you admitted, your mind flashing back to helping hoist the sails and steer out of quite a few storms. "But I wouldn't trade it for anything."
Mina grinned warmly at that. "You wanna know why I chose you as first mate, despite the fact you weren't here for very long?"
"Uh... yes," you coughed. "Yeah, I'd like to know."
"Because you've got ambition. You love the sea as I do, and you're a quick learner. You adapted easily to this life style," Mina explained. "You know, when I first saw you out at sea, in that huge dress of yours, it reminded me of myself. I assumed you'd be the type to run back to shore at first chance, who'd be reluctant to work here, who'd be scared and let the horrors of what happened consume you. But you were strong, and started your new lifestyle without complaint, and worked hard to hold up and excel our standards. You reminded me of myself in an odd sense, though I wasn't nearly as quick as you were to get used to this way of life."
"I-I'm flattered," you stammered, unsure what to say. "I mean, it wasn't easy, but I guess the first moment my eyes opened to a life on the sea, I was enchanted."
Mina nodded, her smile fading, and her eyes looking out to the distance. "I know what you said about the story involving your brother, and I'm sure you know my own. But do you ever think back to what happened?"
"All the time," you confessed. "He was too cowardly to stand up to them, and I think the thought of being able to earn gold and have adventures got to him, and they flattered him enough saying that he would be the perfect addition to their crew. The pressure and potential overwhelmed him, and no matter what I did, he still tied chains around his sister's legs and pushed me off the plank. It was horrible, but I don't know where he is now, and I don't even know what I'd do if I saw him again. He's still my brother, but he's also a traitor. I'm conflicted."
Mina licked her lips, thinking over your words. "I know what it's like to be betrayed."
"By your fiance right?" you asked softly. "Sorry if that's crossing the line, just tell me and I'll pretend like I never said anything."
She smiled a little, chuckling. "No, it's alright. Yes, it was my fiance. Our parents had arranged us in a marriage, and we were to board a boat would take us to our wedding. I was actually smitten, believe it or not, but apparently, he didn't feel the same. I only found that out when he threw me overboard in the middle of the night."
"That's horrible," you gawked. "How'd you make it to shore?"
"The idiot didn't know we were already close to shore, and I quickly swam to shore, finding out he had told my family I was already dead, drowning in the sea. I was furious with him, and the people who let it happen and covered up his tracks on that boat. So I gathered a group of girls the night before they were to sail again, and took over the ship, setting sail. I had no interest in the family who'd accept my death without a second thought, and he paid for his crimes thankfully."
"That's good at least," you said. "It's unfortunate that happened to you, though. He's horrible."
"Guess I was so undesirable that it made him try to kill me," she laughed bitterly.
Your face twisted into a scowl immediately, and you put your hand on her wrist, taking it in your hand and holding it firmly. "Mina," you said in all seriousness. "Don't ever think that. You're a great catch and anyone with a brain could see that. He doesn't deserve someone as bright or courageous as you are. You're the captain of your own ship and the world is in the palm of your hands- meanwhile, he was just a sleaze who couldn't see the beautiful girl in front of him. Don't ever tear yourself down like that."
She blinked at you, her stare blank as she soaked in the words you said. Before you knew it, her other hand was on your shoulder, and she pulled you in. Your eyes were wide as her lips were against yours, and your mind wandered to how soft they felt. You closed your eyes, melting into it as her lips moved slowly against yours, her hand snaking from your shoulder to your cheek.
Mina breaks off the kiss, her eyes still trained on your lips before trailing back to your eyes. "I-I'm sorry, I crossed the line, I-"
"Mina," you say, putting her hands in your own. "It's fine, I liked it."
A nervous smile broke out on her lips, and she couldn't help but giggle. Your cheeks burned at the confession, but you let your own sheepish grin show. Mina was silent, staring down at her hands in your own, swinging them gently, letting the tension and air of what happened form between you two.
"I don't want you to think that I do this with anyone else," she mumbled. "I don't fool around with any of the crew members or anything. And I didn't promote you to first mate just to get in your pants or anything, I genuinely thought you fit the position. And I typically don't do this, I never have in fact, because of my position as captain... but..."
"Mina, you don't have to explain to me," you whispered. "I believe you."
She smiled warmly. "I think I liked you since I first met you. You looked so angelic, and the moment I spotted you I jumped off the boat and dived into the sea, you know that? I think I was hooked since then."
You laughed, taking her face in your hands and kissing her again. Her lips were so soft, so warm. Small pecks that melted into deeper kisses, and you felt like you couldn't breathe, your lungs burning slightly, but you didn't want it to stop. Mina's hands traveled to the hem of your shirt, slowly traveling up and beneath the fabric, her fingertips gently grazing over your skin.
"I'm moving too fast," she murmured, her hands slipping back down.
"Go as fast as you want," you breathed, letting your lips collide back to hers. She smiled, and her hands traveled back up, the pads of her fingertips swiftly moving over your breast, grazing over one of your hardened nipples. Her hands were hesitant, but slowly she squeezed at the soft flesh, massaging the mounds in her palms as you moaned in her mouth. This was going fast- but you were used to things being fast paced now. It was exhilarating.
Your hands tangled into her hair, letting your fingers intertwine with her dark locks. One of her hands slipped below your breast, rubbing the skin right beneath it. Her other hand decided to travel down, slipping into the waistband of your pants. She stilled, as though she was waiting for you to tell her to stop, but you let out a small whimper instead, and she continued until the pads of her finger tips met your clit, which was sensitive already.
She circled her fingers around the sensitive nub, adding some pressure as she continued her ministrations.
"Mina," you breathed, your lips parting from hers. Her lips seemed to be slightly swollen from their dance with your own, and you had no doubt your pupils were blown out as you stared at her in longing. "T-That feels so good..."
She smiled, attaching her lips to the side of your neck, her hands running through your glistening folds, fingers slowly gathering some of your slick arousal. You felt so sensitive to her touch, and you could tell she knew what she was doing. She might not have fooled around with your crew mates, but you were positive there was some girl out there she gained experience with. But with the way she was making you feel, you were definitely thankful.
Her fingers circled around your clit, making you mewl in pleasure as she continued, her lips sure to leave small bruises along your collarbone. Her fingers went lower, grazing over your entrance. They were getting more soaked by the minute, circling teasingly around your pussy.
"F-Fuck," you hissed out. "Quit teasing already, M-Mina."
She smirked, humming against your neck. "Sure thing, Aleena," she giggled, a laugh that sounded like music to your ears. Slowly she inched a finger inside of you, letting you get used to the sensation of the digit inside of you, and she started pumping it, coating it with your juices as her palm dug into your clit, giving you pleasure you desperately craved.
You've had sex before, sure. Though you were supposed to be a maiden who was pure, you did end up losing your virginity quite a while back, unbeknownst to your brother and family. But that boy wasn't nearly as tender a lover as Mina, who curled her finger in a way that had you jolt, as though she hit a small bundle of nerves. Seeing your reaction, she pushed another finger into you, feeling you stretch around her, your walls clenching around her dainty fingers.
You mewled softly as she rubbed her palm more deliberately into your clit, an unfamiliar pressure in your lower stomach starting to form. You welcomed the feeling without hesitation, bucking into her hand as she kissed you once more, her fingers pumping into you and curling every so often.
You were a stammering, moaning mess already, biting down on her collarbone to muffle your moans. It was all starting to become too much, your sensitive and swollen cunt being played with by Mina, and you felt as though you were going to burst. Your lower stomach was warm, and it struck you that you might actually be close to an orgasm. Your hips were bucking into her hand, the heel of her palm digging into your clit with circular motions, her fingers curling more until you felt your eyes roll, and you bit down harshly, feeling your legs buckle.
You let go of her shoulder between your teeth, feeling your breath knocked out of you as you took needy gulps for oxygen, your high coming down, though your mind was still filled with euphoria and bliss. Was that what an orgasm was? If so you wanted to experience it ten more times.
Mina grinned, taking her hand out of your pants to show her glistening fingers, popping them in her mouth as she stared at you. "You taste delicious, Aleena," she purred slightly.
You grinned, and something told you that you were in for a whole different type of training. You didn't mind though, and you were especially looking forward to it. Especially if it was with her.
Thundering and hollers sounded about from above deck, and you and Mina had already hopped out of your shared bed, grabbing swords and charging above. Your ship had planks connecting it to another, where men were crossing and battle your own crew members. Fiercely you fought, battling against the enemy. It had been either a year or more since you joined this crew, and you weren't letting The Siren down without a fight.
A gruff man's sword was clanging with your own, and you swung your own down to his peg leg- at the same time ducking beneath his swinging blade. Your sword got caught in the wooden stick, and you swung it beneath him to have him fall back, where you knocked his sword out of his hand, catching it in your own. No doubt these pirates were out to steal from you.
He jumped up again, dodging your attempts to stab him as he kicked you back, squarely in the chest. You knocked against the side of the boat, and he came forward, towering over you. You didn't think, letting your instincts kick in as you plunged the two swords in your hands directly into his chest, not bothering to gawk at his surprised and mortified expression before you planted your foot on his abdomen, rolling on your back as you threw him overboard, one of the swords falling with him. The other one was still in your hand, soaked in the red of the pirate.
It wasn't your first kill- for it's normal for pirates to attack other pirates, especially if one is filled with women. You charged towards another man, instantly jumping onto his back and yanking his head back by his scrappy bandana, bringing your blade to his throat and slicing it, jumping off of him as he fell on his knees, blood everywhere until he face planted into the wood, the liquid simply pooling around his limp body.
You were clashing swords with so many pirates, your mind a blur as you used each skill you had picked up over the year consume you, using it to outwit or defeat the more muscular and bigger opponents. Muscle was nothing to a sharp blade.
You spotted Mina, your captain fiercely fighting a man, her growl evident as she bared her teeth, throwing him off to stagger back before she struck again. You heard a roar behind you, and you quickly ducked beneath a sword that swiped through the air, rolling over and grabbing onto the nearest object you could find- a small bloodied knife from the other ship. You swung your sword at the man, jumping to your feet and kicking him in the groin, slashing at his arms until his sword clattered at his feet. You dropped your sword, shaking your hand before tightening it in a fist, punching him squarely in the nose before he staggered back, at the edge of the boat. You shook your hand, feeling the pain blossom through your knuckles, and quickly throwing the knife, having it land perfectly between his brows as he fell back and into the watery depths.
You looked back, only to see the pirate who was fighting Mina yank his sword from her chest, twisting his head around as though to stretch his neck. Fear struck you, and it felt as though your heart stopped beating, your chest tightening. You found yourself scooping back up your sword, a warrior cry as you flew to him, your sword quick to collide with his, eyes narrowed with fury and tears.
"You're going to pay!" you screamed, your movements sharp to jab or to swipe at him. He was good, pushing against your efforts and swinging your swords around, though each trick he tried you easily overpowered, countering him.
He killed Mina he killed Mina he killed Mina.
And now you'll kill him.
"Aleena?!" he shouted at you just as your swords clashed against one another's. You were pushing your blade down against his, trying to make his own finally strike him, his force keeping him from harm. Your eyes widened at the fact he knew your name, and your eyes locked with his.
"Baekhyun?" you whispered. He gave way, twisting around to where you staggered forward, turning back to him and keeping your sword up, your face filled with shock.
"How are you still alive? I thought you were dead!" Baekhyun shouted.
"What the fuck are you doing here?" you hissed at him, eyes wide.
"It was my one chance for survival, and they offered me everything. I'm a pirate now, and I'm a quarters mate," he said, and you heard how he seemed to beam at the fact. "B-But you! You're still alive!"
Your eyes flew back to Mina's body, in a pool of her own blood, and anger overwhelmed you. You thought back to the feeling of crashing into the waves, of the cold water splashing your face repeatedly as you tried to stay up, of the very chains weighing you down until you thought you were about to burst beneath the surface.
"That's right cockshit," you hissed, swinging your blade at him. Baekhyun's smile of relief was quickly washed off as he brought his sword up to yours, looking at you with alarm as you gritted your teeth to him. "And you won't be."
You were fighting again, and you were more determined on winning than ever, using the twisting motion to knock the sword far away from him as it clattered and slid to the other side. Baekhyun held his hands up in surrender, and you quickly hit him over the head with the hilt of your sword, pressing down on the side of his head with the bottom of your boot.
You aimed your sword, ready to pierce at his jugular until he whimpered in fear. "P-Please, Aleena, you w-woudln't murder your brother in cold b-blood, now would you?"
You froze, your eyes narrowed. "Coward," you spat. You saw his crew mates start to go back to their own ship, jumping over the planks and getting aboard their boat, deciding it wasn't worth it apparently. Your eyes flew to a fat corpse, Nayeon's small frame hovering above it as you saw many small knives piercing into the chest of the scraggily captain who ordered for you to be pushed off the boat in the first place.
So that's why they were leaving already.
You got off of Baekhyun, eyes narrowed. "Go back to your damn ship."
He didn't stop, his eyes filled with fear as he scurried past you, assuming you were sparing him. The ship quickly departed, already heading out as quickly as it could, it's failed attempts at robbery proven to have cost them their captain.
Nayeon walked towards you, her voice timid as she stared back at the others, tending to the wounded. Your eyes locked with one of the girls by Mina, who simply shook her head sadly towards you.
"What do we do now, Captain?" Nayeon asked.
That's right.
You were captain now.
Fire coursed through your veins, and your jaw clenched. "Aim the cannons, and fire once we're set. We aren't letting them get away while they're still in range."
You weren't showing any mercy.
Years at sea can do wonders to the brain. For some it drives them mad, to the edge of insanity until they dive into the depths of their captor, never to be seen again. For you, it simply gave you what little sanity you had. You had seen blood shed on the wood of The Siren, but nightmares continuously tortured you, and within a blink of an eye you were being pinned down as your brother wrapped chains around your legs, or the water rushing towards you as you zoomed into the murky depths, or your very own brother yanking the sword that killed the woman you loved. On the worst nights, you felt as though you could hear his screams as his ship sunk to your commands.
But there were the comforting dreams that kept you tied to the sea, showing it wasn't full of nightmares and such. You'd dream of soft hands undoing your burdens, and sometimes, if you looked closely enough through the waves, you swore you saw a glorious tail shimmer in the sunlight. Perhaps the sea was getting to you, but your crew mates often joked that one day, you'd become one with the ocean.
Perhaps that day was today, with the impending doom that showed as your first mate, Nayeon, had her nails pierce your skin, clutching your arm in terror as a giant tentacle was raised in the air, seeming to reach the dark clouds overhead. Raindrops were beating over your head, and your crew mates didn't fight the beast, instead clinging to the sides of the ship as the waves wildly spun the boat about, waves crashing down on all of you as hope was lost.
It was a monster that tried to wrap its tentacles around your boat in the middle of the night, stilling your boat from the thrashing waves as it tried to sink you below the surface. All of you were wildly jabbing at the tentacles, causing the giant squid to let out an ungodly screech as you ducked down, some of the dangerous tentacles letting go of the ship, but dragging your crew mates with it.
You were holding a silent prayer, your hand covering your friend's as she cowered into your shoulder. Hope was gone, and this ferocious beast from the seas was slowly beginning to crash down on you, lightning briefly flashing to illuminate the horror that would be the cause of your death.
You squeezed her hand, looking down at her. You couldn't help but have your mind flash back to Mina, to her brilliant smile as she'd grin to you, and her last moments of being fierce and courageous, right before you turned your back. How she'd stare at you as though you were a glimmering star during those small moments alone.
Nayeon let out a whimper of fear, and the tentacle was already coming down, becoming bigger and closer with each passing second.
"It was an honor to work with you," you said. At that moment the tentacle crashed down, and you were knocked back, Nayeon screeching as her grip on your arm loosened, and she was tumbling in the other direction. There was a gaping split, The Siren split into two as the tentacles reappeared, slimy and horrifying as they started dragging the boat back down, letting it slowly sink as your crew members were either slipping off into the depths or trapped.
You fell into the thrashing water, a wave quickly splashing over your head as you plunged down into the water. It had been years since you first dived into the water, helpless, and yet the feeling was just as terrifying. You could barely see your hands in front of your face in the murky water, and you were swimming once again to the surface, gasping for breath and trying to look around in the dark, lightning illuminating the scene once again.
The first thing you saw was Nayeon barely floating on a piece of wood, the ship slowly sinking in the background, monstrous tentacles dragging it down. It was dark again, and you were desperately trying to swim to your friend. You had to save anyone you could.
You were calling her name, but something grabbed at your boot, dragging you down. Your eyes widened in fear as you tried to kick at whatever was causing you to sink, and your foot slipped out of the shoe, and once again you were swimming up to the surface, trying to swim to Nayeon.
You were dragged back again, this time a strong arm hooked around your waste. You yelped, thrashing about to stay on the surface. You saw movement in the dark, something humongous crashing down right where you saw Nayeon, and you let out a scream of terror, once again being dragged down. You tried desperately to kick at your captor, trying to pry the arm off of you as you tried to hit whatever monster was keeping you underwater. You felt yourself moving away from the scene quickly, as though strong movements were pulling you and the kidnapper away.
You felt movement, and you saw a trident low, a soft hue of baby blue illuminating it. Your breath was let out, and you turned to look at your captor, seeing the handsome face of a man concentrated on something in the dark. Fear coursed through your system, and you were frozen with shock.
A beam seemed to shoot out from the trident, a blue light coursing through the water and shooting into the dark, and a muffled, inhumanely scream sounded throughout the water, so strong it seemed to move the two of you back. Your eyes were wide with horror as it shot directly at the monster that wrecked your boat.
It was a giant squid of some sort, bits of the boat already underwater in its grasp, its eye opened and the pupil in an almost cat-like slit. It was dark pink, the blue light barely able to show the color. You wanted to scream as you saw your crew members in its clutches, already dead, some limp and others practically broken in half, their hair covering the faces you knew would haunt your nightmares.
The man kept on shooting different types of beams of light to the creature, until it pierced directly in its eye, eliciting a noise that sounded as though it resonated from hell itself. Your lungs were burning as you watched its limbs go limp, and it started to sink down, so far down that the light that still glowed from the trident couldn't show it, and the monster slowly sunk into the bottomless darkness.
Your lungs were begging for air, and the man seemed to finally realize- hey, this thing has lungs!- and you felt as though you were being rocketed back to the surface. You stared down, a glimmering tail of blue shining in the light from the trident.
You were at the surface, gasping for air. It felt as though your lungs were on fire. You wanted to cry, shock overriding your system as you fumbled about in the water. Your ship had sunk, your friends were dead, and now you were in some merman's captor. Was he a siren that your crew mates would whisper about in horror tales? Who'd drag you into the depths of the sea and sink his sharp teeth into your jugular?
"Listen, listen!" he spoke, taking a hold of you. You tried to ignore the feeling of the water moving with his tail below the surface and at your feet, and you tried to gulp down the lump in your throat as he forced you to look at him. His trident still glowed, showing his beautiful expression, and probably showing your scared one. "I'm going to take you to safety, but you're going to have to trust me, alright?"
"What other choice do I have?" you spat, hope draining from you. "I've been destined to die in the sea from the start! How am I supposed to trust you?"
"I just saved your life," he insisted. "Look, I couldn't save your friends, I'm sorry, but we don't have time for this, you're getting colder by the second. Are you coming with me or not?"
Your voice was broken, and you didn't feel as though anything was real anymore. "Lead the way," you croaked.
The sound of birds chirping and the waves crashing against the shore woke you, the bright sunlight causing you to wince, raising a single hand to cover your eyes. You tried to sit up, your mind glazing over and your other hand moving back, and you felt blistering hot sand. You looked down, getting a handful as you felt it slip between your fingers.
Were you on a beach? How'd this all happen? When'd you get there?
Memories of what happened poured into your mind, and you scrambled up, finding one boot on, and your clothes tattered but dry. You squinted, letting your eyes adjust to the brightness, and you saw palm trees and blue skies. What was this, paradise? It couldn't be, you didn't deserve this. You've robbed and killed, but this place certainly didn't look like Hell.
You trudged on, trying to see if there was anyone. It couldn't have been a dream, that was impossible. You scoured, and before long you found a waterfall. But what was at the pool of the waterfall was what stunned you.
Mermaids. Fucking. Mermaids.
Their hair was long and silky as they continuously brushed through it, long strings of pearls and jewels between the valley of their breasts, and most shockingly of all tails of brilliant colors that shone in the light. Their skin was decorated with patches of scales, their hands slightly webbed and their eyes shining with colors of the sea.
"What. The. Fuck," you muttered, eyes wide. You were stiff with shock. This wasn't real.
A mermaid's direction snapped over to you, and a bright grin spread across her face, and she clapped her hands wildly. "Look, guys, it's the girl His Majesty told us about!"
Their heads whipped over to you, delight written over their face. You took a step back, thinking that perhaps if you went back to sea to drown yourself you'd finally find sense in what was happening. Maybe you'd wake up on your ship and find an old, rusted gun to shoot yourself in the head. Nothing a few good 'pew pew's to the head couldn't solve.
But instead, her webbed hand seemed to shoot out, grabbing your wrist and yanking you into the water. You lost your balance, falling into the pool, splashing about as you were instantly drenched. They swam over to you, and you shrieked as they began to undress you.
"Don't worry dear, we're just giving you a bath!" one exclaimed, getting a few bottles before dumping them over your head. "My, when's the last time you washed your hair?" Her fingers seemed to claw into your head, your hair blocking your vision as she began to vigorously scrub.
"She's a pirate! She's been on a ship for who knows how long. It's not like they have a bath do they?" another one scoffed.
"She's pretty for a pirate," one giggled, lathering your hands with some sort of lotion. You sputtered, wanting to tell them that you could hear them just fine, but the taste of your hair that fell over your face combined with soap that reminded you of coconuts didn't permit for you to speak.
"Of course she is! His Majesty likes her for a reason," another rolled her eyes.
"I thought it was just because of these," one remarked, holding up one of your feet, causing you to plunge into the water as you fell back.
You sat up, brushing the hair out of your face as you gawked at the girls. They were definitely different from the girls on the ship. The girls on the ship were tough, rough, and more so on the masculine and gruff side. These girls were dainty, girly- and covered in scales, of course.
"Are you an idiot? There are tons of land folk with those!" the one scrubbing your hair scolded the mermaid as she dumped more water over your head, rinsing out the soap. "No, I tell you, it's not that."
You broke your hair in the middle so that your mouth was visible, and you coughed. "Um, could someone please explain what's going on?"
"Oh! Dear me, we haven't explained," the one rubbing lotions over your hands exclaimed. "Why, His Majesty Poseidon rose this island and beckoned us here to care for you. Of course, we jumped at the opportunity. It isn't often we leave the palace, and less often when we see a human girl!"
"Poseidon?" you remarked. "As in, the Greek god and all that? As in raising islands and controlling the seven seas and all that? That Poseidon?"
"What other Poseidon is there?" one giggled, her eyes lighting up. "Oh, well you're probably thinking of the original, it's a bit hard to explain. Basically, he's a god with the spirit of Poseidon in him, so he has the powers and whatnot. Our Poseidon nowadays vanquishes monsters at the bottom of the sea- mainly because the third Poseidon- Kyuhyun- created many of them to terrorize the land folk. Though I'll admit, it's rare for Our Majesty to raise islands or rescue maidens- that was what the fourth typically did."
"Er- what," you said blankly. "Wait, why am I here? Who are you guys? What happened?"
One's face soured as she pouted. "His Majesty doesn't really tell us. We're the Nereids- or at least a portion of them- the original daughters of the great sea god for each generation, tasked with staying in the underwater palace and assisting His Majesty. You're here for whatever purpose Poseidon sees fit- we don't really know, honestly. As for what happened, I think there was something about that monstrous- whaddya call it?- giant squid, that terrorized and wrecked an entire ship. His Majesty has been trying to vanquish it for who knows how long, but it's hard to lure. But apparently, it was attracted to a ship full of girls."
Your expression dimmed at her words, a pang in your chest at the thought of your friends, all lost. They didn't deserve that fate. "Why was I saved?" you asked.
"You're special," the one washing your hair said simply, pouring another bucket of water over your head. "How? We were hoping you could answer that for us."
Your hair was being brushed back, and the girls giggled and ushered for you to start your story, their eyes excited for whatever adventures you'd tell.
"It's not a fun story," you say calmly, eyes sullen. "It's rather sad, to be honest. It's not pretty."
"But the life of a pirate!" one exclaimed, her eyes bright. "Didn't you have swash-buckling adventures, with a sword and all, and gold?"
"Yes," you sighed. "But I also had a broken heart, betrayal, and deaths on my hands. It isn't pleasant, and there are many burdens I bear. And I can never erase the sins hanging above my head."
"Tell us anyway as we dry and dress you in human clothing," another encouraged. "Adventures become stories that are meant to be told."
You sighed, hesitantly starting your story. As you spoke, the girls worked their magic, working with your hair until it was velvety and soft, patting and drying you until you were clean and dry, slipping a dress over your figure as you continued. It was white, with golden straps, and the tips dipped in the color of pink you'd only see during a sunset. By the end of your story, the mermaids were huddled in front of you, their eyes trained intently on you, and their faces serious as you told the grimmest parts of your story with the light- with your joy of having Mina in your life to her being killed by none other than your brother.
By the time the last words left your lips, they no longer seemed as animated as they once appeared, faces filled with sorrow and pity instead. You heard some rustling in the bushes, and out stepped the man who rescued you that night- wait, stepped?!
True enough, the attractive individual had legs like your own, though his thighs were noticeably more muscular as you gawked at him. You glanced back to the Nereids, who were bowing.
This was a god.
You were saved by a god!
"Oh my God," you breathed, jaw practically dropping to the floor.
The man winked in response. "At your service, m'lady."
The two of you were walking along the shore, and you were practically ashamed of how immensely attracted you already were to this man. You kept on trying to squeeze your thighs together beneath your dress as you walked, but it did nothing. No wonder this man was a god, he looked like an angel!
But you still had unanswered questions. "Alright, I've gotta ask," you blurted, pointing down to his legs. "Where in the hell did you get those?"
He laughed at your remark. "I'm not sure if you're aware, but I'm a god. It's not like I have to choose one form alone."
"Oh, sure, that's simple!" you say, shaking your head in disbelief. "You were some fish thing when I saw you! Even the very first time, I knew I wasn't imagining it, but I tried to convince myself I was! It was you who undid my chains, right? You might not remember, but I was wrapped up in chains and everything. I... I think it was you who undid them and led me to the ship... to The Siren."
He licked your lips, slowly processing your words. "Yes, that was me."
"Why though?" you blurted out. "I don't mean to be rude but- oh screw it, why? I mean... it makes no sense... and then you save me again. Why me? Why this?"
He nodded slowly, absorbing each word you said. "Are you familiar with the Fates?"
"I know a fair bit about Greek mythology," you recall, remembering one of the books Baekhyun let you borrow. "Which apparently isn't so much of a myth."
He chuckled at that, "You seem to be processing this quickly."
"Well, I've gotten used to life being fast paced," you admit. "It's not like I want anything slow nowadays with what I've been through."
"Understandable," he admitted. "Well, the Fates have a strange way of working things. Everything is destined, and not even a god such as myself can influence their decisions. But they give clues and instinct. They play into Fate itself in great ways, where certain moments you know it's meant to be, and you know it's meant to happen. Have you ever just looked at someone, and already been drawn to them? The moment your eyes met? Perhaps not love, but something that told you that the two of you were destined to meet, and to have something?"
You wanted to scream the word yes to him. That was it, the click. When you lock eyes and you already know in your mind there's something there. Not love at first sight, and you thought the click was a myth itself. But apparently, some myths aren't as made-up as you had imagined. But you definitely felt what he was talking about- where one simple look and you couldn't help but let your mind wander to them continuously. It's what you experienced with Mina, and he, too. After all, you couldn't help but think about what you imagined to be a figment of your imagination. But what if it ran deeper than that?
"I have," you admitted.
"Well, I was drawn to you. I was supposed to be hunting down a very dangerous sea dragon, and I was searching for so long, wandering around the sea and suddenly I just see you, tied and bound with chains and sinking quickly. There was an immense urge to help you, as expected, and quickly I swam up to undo your chains. And the moment you fell asleep, I started to drag you over to the ship closest, one that would be suitable. And the moment I saw your sleeping face, I felt as though it was fate to meet you."
It was cheesy in every way possible, but you couldn't help but believe his words. What he said had to be true, otherwise, you wouldn't be here. In a land where gods and mermaids existed, why couldn't fate?
"Anyways," he continued. "I immediately went to the fates, asking if I'd ever see you again. Oh, they're tedious sometimes, giggling amongst themselves. All they said was that I would reunite with someone one day- which is perhaps the vaguest bull I've ever heard. I continuously searched by many ships and boats, thinking perhaps you'd be near, but I was never able to see you. After a few years, I gave up searching, realizing I had to continue my job, ridding the underwater evils from my kingdom and from the depths, where they threatened to terrorize merpeople and humans alike. It happened when I was least expecting it when I finally tracked down a certain monster that had been evading me for who knows how long. And then I saw you diving into the water, and it all clicked again. And I simply had to save you."
You nodded in understanding, and you felt yourself laugh. "I was fated to meet Poseidon! Who'd have thought?"
He smiled warmly at you. "Jimin."
"Hm?" you quirked a brow, an unbelieving smile on your face.
"My name's... Jimin," he spoke. "Poseidon's more of a stage name. I'm sure the girls explained to you that there are generations of Poseidon. Each has two names, the one carried to each generation, and their real name." His eyes were soft as he grinned towards you. "I'd like for you to know my real name."
You were hesitant, but found yourself giddy at the prospect, a strange sense of feeling special as he stared down at you. Hell, maybe he did this with every human-girl he saved. But you let yourself fall into his words, perhaps letting his godly powers persuade you into trusting him. For once you wanted to let yourself fall.
"Aleena," you replied. "My name's Aleena. And it's very nice to meet you, Jimin... again."
He smiled, and there seemed to be a small, mutual understanding. This was a fresh start for you, away from the curses of the sea, on an island especially formed for you. You were fated to meet a god twice, and though the reason passed over your head, you thanked it nonetheless.
Your mind flew back to Mina, and how quick and hard your love for her was. You had heartache for her, and it was pure torture after her death, but you wouldn't trade it for the world. It was worth it, loving her. So if love was worth it, wouldn't it be worth it to fall in love again?
"Hey Jimin," you said, hiking up your skirt to kick the sand. "Have you ever been fated to anyone before?"
"I have," he admitted. "Twice. Two separate women, one from a century ago, and another over that. Have you?"
"Once," you confessed. "My captain, before she was killed by my brother."
"I'm sorry to hear that," Jimin murmured. "Did you love her?"
"She was warm and sunny and comforting," you said. "I loved her, and then I had to take her place, being captain of a ship that was attacked. But I guess fate works in weird ways, and I'm glad it brought her to me. She reminds me of you, in a sense. Both cool and confident, ready in the face of danger. She was warm and sunny, but you're calm and serious. For the most part, you were slightly terrifying when you were trying to get me to come with you."
Jimin winced at the memory. "I needed to get you to safety, and I get rather angry in the face of monsters and such. But this girl sounds very nice, you were lucky to have her."
"I was," you nodded. "And you? Your two fated people?"
"One was a girl who loved to sew, who was compassionate about her work and had big dreams," Jimin smiled warmly. "Another was a woman who cared for her sick sibling, caring for him before she cared for herself. But neither were tied to the sea, and it wasn't as though it could last longer. They had futures, and living beneath the surface wasn't part of it. Fate had ended their time with me, but I was thankful while it lasted."
First time having an actual conversation with a potential love interest, and you were already talking about your exes. Good job you.
"To live beneath the surface?" you furrowed your brows.
"I'm able to choose someone to live with me in my underwater palace and such, and they'd live for as long as I do until the next generation," Jimin explained. His eyes were wide as he looked to you. "Not that I'm trying to rush you into anything! I don't want to take things too fast, especially since we're still getting to know each other and all."
You grinned mischievously at that, seeing the spark of something rather innocent behind those godly eyes of his that seemed to have witnessed the wonders of the world already. You leaned in, clutching onto the collar of his shirt as you pressed his plump, plush lips against your own, screwing your eyes shut. Mina's kisses were warm, and that was a faded memory in the back of your mind. Jimin's lips seemed to rock against yours in a rhythmic pattern, like waves. It was so different, and still, you melted into it easily.
You broke away, a glint in your eye and a smile on your face as you looked to him. "I like fast," you spoke.
He seemed momentarily stunned, "You do?"
"I'm not joining your underwater world tomorrow, or just yet," you say, cocking your head to the side. "But I'm not denying the possibility all together either. We're fated people, I know it, you know it. I'm not going anywhere, where else can I go? So, for now, why don't we just cut to the chase and start to get to know each other better, testing the chemistry. I don't want to waste any time because if there's one thing I've learned from being out at sea, is that there's no guarantee of tomorrow."
Jimin was stunned, and for a moment you were scared your urgency to jump into things was scaring him away, but you were surprised by his response.
"Can I show you something tonight?"
"Jimin, this is stunning!" you said, staring up at the ceiling of the cave. Apparently, Jimin had made a small cave on the island where the Nereids loved to hang out when they weren't grooming themselves at the waterfall. The ceiling was littered with jewels that sparkled and shone, glowing as the water inside the cave seemed to reflect lights against them. It was perhaps the dead of night, but Jimin told you that the Nereids would be back soon after they got something to eat. For now, the entire island, and the enchanting cave itself was alone to the two of you.
"You like it?" he asked, slowly stepping into the pool, letting it come to around his knees.
"Absolutely," you gushed on, eyes trained on his legs. "What, no tail when you touch water?"
"That would be tedious," he laughed. You walked around the pool, circling the edges as you watched him in wonder. Water seemed to morph in his hands as easy as puddy, and he could create intricate shapes that defied logic and gravity with the flick of a wrist. It was fascinating, and unlike anything you had ever seen in your entire life. It was like a magic trick, and your jaw was still gaping with awe as you tried to figure out how he did it. He looked your way, smirking once he caught you staring, and the water seemed to pull him towards you, lifting him until he stood beside your figure, not a drop of water on his body. "Care to swim, m'lady?"
"I'd be much more interested in seeing what else you can do with your hands!" you laughed. "That was fascinating, honestly. I mean it might seem like nothing to you, but it's truly amazing to someone like me."
"What I can do with my hands, eh?" Jimin cocked a brow.
Your cheeks burned at what he said, and you swatted his arm. "For such an old guy, you sure are immature!"
"You'll have to put up with it for quite a while," he laughed, nudging you teasingly. Everything seemed to flow right between the two of you, like water. You felt as though the two of you had instant chemistry, like the two of you just got it. It was that tension that was familiar, where two people were perfectly aware of the fact that they liked each other, chemistry flowing between the two of them easily, but still no title. It felt like that for the two of you, but you didn't want to waste time on things like that. You were used to the fast paced life, and you learned to appreciate it. Adapting easily to your surroundings, letting life come at you. It felt familiar now, and you already began to seek that sense of familiarity once again.
Jimin squatted down, twirling his finger in the air as a spiral of water followed it. "What are you thinking right now?" he asked you curiously.
Truthfully, your mind wasn't clear with the most pleasant of thoughts. You were thinking back to his plump lips on your own, and how they'd feel if they went a bit lower... An image of his head buried between your legs. That was your problem. You were addicted to something new, for a sense of familiarity and belonging. Jimin seemed keen on giving you what you want, though.
"Oh, nothing," you hum.
"Aleena, I can smell how wet you are through your dress."
Your eyes widened at that statement, and you stepped back, biting down on your lip as he glanced back to you, his stare different from the warm one he held earlier. "Er... no?" you tried to deny meekly.
The side of his mouth cocked up. "Don't worry, it's only because I bent down and was so close... but you're drenched, aren't you?"
"I-I..." you didn't know how to respond to that, and you began to feel flustered.
"Weren't you the one who kept going on about not wanting to take things slow?" he chuckled. "Don't worry, we can go at whatever pace you want. But I'm willing to help out with your need if you want."
You thought over it all, your mind spinning at his suggestion.
"I'm being weird, I shouldn't have said that. You don't want things that fast," Jimin shook his head, turning back to the water. "Forget I ever said anything."
"I never said no," you whispered.
You noticed how his shoulders tensed, and he looked back at you slowly. "You realize we just learned each other's name but a few hours ago, right? Are you sure you're ready for something as face-paced as this?"
"I say who gives a damn?" you remark. "It's our relationship, it's our business, and no one else will know. We've only got so long together, whether it's a few days or many years. We know how we're fated to be in each other's lives, but we don't know the ending. I say we use what we know and do things our own way. You want me, and I want you. So why can't we just skip the parts where we lie to ourselves and each other about what we feel because I'm sure even you can see there's potential here. And... I want to see where it goes."
Jimin was silent for a moment, but within a second he stood up, turned on his heel, and marched straight to you until his lips crashed against your own, his hand cupping your cheek. "You just seem to become more and more amazing with each passing second," he breathed against your lips, smiling as he moved them against your lush petals in steady, fluid movements.
"Wait," you pulled back, "what if the girls come in?"
He thought for a moment. "I guess I'll have to be quick then."
Within a second he had you lying on the floor, your skirt hiked up and your legs thrown over his shoulders. His eyes glinted with mischevious that matched your own just a few moments ago, and you were whimpering at the teasing finger that traced over your slit.
"Jimin, I thought you said you'd be quick," you teased, though slightly anxious. The girls could be here at any minute, watching a god about to eat you out. The thought was both humiliating and exhilarating.
"Keep acting like that, and maybe I'll decide you don't deserve this," Jimin grinned playfully, tapping against your clit. It was so sensitive, each tap as he taunted you. "Will you be good? Do you think you deserve it?"
You simply whined in response, feeling how he let his finger slide through your folds, not daring to so much as graze over your clit as he gathered your juices on his digits. He sucked tentatively on a single finger, making sure you knew what kind of torture he was putting you through. "You taste so delicious, Aleena, I'd love to taste you. But I'm not sure you deserve it..."
"Yes, g-god, Jimin," you stammered. "Quit teasing, please. I'll do anything."
"I'll hold you up to that next time," he grinned. He eased a single finger into your center, lowering his face to where his head was buried between your thighs. He licked a stripe up your folds, his tongue grazing over your clit, making your legs quiver in anticipation. His tongue lapped over your clit, stimulating it as he pumped the single finger in and out of you, letting it slide easily as it was coated in your arousal, your walls barely able to squeeze around the single digit efficiently.
He eased another one in, using scissoring motions to stretch you out as he continued running his tongue along your folds, getting the blood flowing and letting you feel more stimulated. You thought about how quickly it was all moving, and how you thought the same thing with Mina.
But you were addicted to the fast pace of life, and Jimin seemed to deliver it perfectly already. he was there since the beginning of your journey, though you had no real idea, and something told you he'd be there until the end.
Jimin's plump lips attached to your clit, sucking on it in a way that had your legs jerk slightly, and you managed to squeeze your thighs against either side of his head, a small moan eliciting from your parted lips. "Fuck, Jimin, keep doing that. It feels so good when you suck on my clit, you're so good with your tongue," you murmured.
This seemed to encourage him, the way you stroked his ego, and he kept a tighter grip on you, pumping the two fingers in and out of you, feeling how you squeezed around the digits, clenching your walls with each small suck he'd offer your clit.
It was probably swollen and throbbing by this point, and you were turning into mush in Jimin's hands, easily bent to his will the same way the water was. You were already letting out soft moans of his name, and he continued his movements, going slow and making sure to pay plenty of attention to your throbbing cunt that was pressed against his face.
The pit in your lower stomach was beginning to form, a warm sensation bubbling up. "Jimin, keep going like that, and I'll have to cum all over your tongue," you murmured, and you felt him hiss in delight against your heat, his hot breath fanning over it. Mina told you that you were exceptional at dirty talk, and clearly, from how Jimin was reacting, you were.
He was a tender lover so far, and from the way he massaged the skin of your inner thigh and continued the ministrations you encouraged, you were going to cum soon. Suddenly, you heard the sounds of shrieks and giggling coming in, and you were positive that the  Nereids were close to the cave.
Jimin's hot tongue ran repeatedly over your clit now, stimulation it as his rushed movements became sloppy, and the thought that you were so close to being walked- or swam?- in on seemed to turn you on so much, that your orgasm completely washed over you in a sensual wave, where your legs shook and you slapped your hand against your mouth, your eyes rolling back as your high reached its peak.
Jimin hurriedly got up from between your legs, flipping your skirt over your legs as he helped you up, and you shakily stood in front of him, smiling at the Nereids as they swam in, hoping they didn't pay too much attention to your flushed figure, slightly swollen lips, or messy hair. From behind you, you were gripping tightly onto the cock that was restrained by Jimin's pants, watching as he nervously greeted the girls, who seemed oblivious already to what happened or what was happening in front of them.
You knew one thing for sure, you were going to have a lot of fun with Jimin. Not only did he look like a god, but he had the tongue of one too.
And as you and Jimin scurried out of the cave to help relieve him of his little problem, you couldn't help but thank the Fates that you clicked with this man in particular, and no matter what hardships you endured or would endure, it comforted you knowing that now you'd have someone at your side.
And you were sure all of those people who you left behind were in a better place now, just as you were with him.

OUTLANDER S3 EP 9: "The Doldrums"
So here we are folks, only FOUR....yes...FOUR more episodes before the dreaded Droughtlander strikes again.  I pause for a quiet moment of reflection on this.  Know this...if you think Jamie and Claire will see Scotland again in the near future, you, my friend will be disappointed.  It's going to be a LONG time coming if at all.
First thing....the theme song has changed some!  It has the same initial opening music but then the imagery changes and you get a more tropical touch to the music!  Love it!
We left off last episode with the abduction of Young Ian (and the treasure!) from the island.  This episode Jamie and Claire are in France and get the help of Jamie's cousin Jared.  Jamie will be employed aboard the Artemis as supercargo.  Funny name, but all ship terms are weird.  It just means he will be the one in charge of all the cargo aboard the ship.  Jamie is going with Claire, Fergus, Mr. Willoughby (Yi Tien Cho) and two other men, Hayes and Lesley who know Jamie from Ardsmuir prison.  Jared tells Jamie that they have checked the log books and the only ship from that day flying a Portuguese flag was the Bruja.  They are headed to Jamaica and if Young Ian, being a young healthy lad behaves himself, he will survive the journey and most likely be sold for at least 30 pounds in the West Indies. Awesome.  Jared makes sure to point out that winter is almost upon them and the sea will most likely be a little rough.  Oh...even more awesome for poor sea sick prone Jamie.
As Jared leaves, Claire inquires about Jenny and Ian.  Jamie tells her that they still think they are all on their way in France, so they have no idea yet.  However Jamie is sending them a letter to explain what happened to Young Ian and what they are trying to do about it. Hmmmm...would love to be a fly on the wall when THAT letter arrives and Jenny reads it!  Jamie turns to Claire and reiterates about her belonging with him, however, if she indeed wishes to return he will take her to the stones himself.  Claire says there is something more important right now and that is finding Young Ian.
Jamie and Claire are on board and Claire watches all these men say hello to Jamie and also touch the post nearby with a horseshoe.  Claire tries to soothe Jamie by telling him to look at the horizon.  He says it isn't his stomach right now, but the sight of Scotland fading away in the distance.  "We shall not set foot on her shores again without Young Ian." Jamie tells Claire.
Of course, Fergus appears as they are now far enough away and surprises them with Marsali.  Apparently they were "handfasted" which means they are married.  Jamie is fuming and drags off Fergus and asks if he has "bedded the lass" yet and Fergus says no.  To which Jamie yells out as he turns away that it is not yet binding.  Marsali is a huge bitch like her mom.  She calls Claire a "hoor" but Fergus tells her not to speak to Milady that way.  She also tells Jamie that if he makes her disembark and go home, she will tell everyone that she and Fergus have already slept together.  Jamie decides that Fergus is not to touch Marsali, so he and Fergus will be in one room and Marsali and Claire are in another.  The women are less than pleased.
As Jamie and Claire head to go below, Claire looks at him and says “We’ve been apart for 20 years and you want me to room with her?” “I’m obliged to protect her virtue,” replies Jamie. “Mine as well, it seems,” Claire snaps. When Claire stalks off in a huff, an almost-seasick Jamie notes sarcastically, "Now I am gonna be sick."
Jamie's seasickness finally sets in and Claire brings him some ginger tea.  Before knowing what it was at first, he asks what God awful stuff was she going to put in him.  She hands him a cup and he sips it.  Claire looks around and sees a trunk and asks what it was.  Jamie replies that it is something Fergus brought from Lallybroch.  She opens it to find their clothes from Paris and his tartan in there also.  She was surprised that he held onto those and said he could have sold them.  Jamie just answers "Sell them? Memories of you? Never."
With Jamie feeling seasick, Claire is dining alone with the captain.  That is fine, as it is she he wanted to speak to anyway.  He tries to convince Claire that men that are alone on the sea for a long time tend to get very superstitious and for her to respect that.
Claire of course has to argue some and mentions the horseshoe.  The captain replies that it doesn't matter if he believes that touching a piece of iron will bring good luck, but these men do and that they also believe that someone on board had not.  Claire replies that "Believing something doesn’t make it real," and the captain retorts, "On this ship, it does."
Down below Jamie is doing a fair job at trying not to be sick as he discusses Marsali with Fergus.  Fergus uses some words about his love for Marsali is akin to him breathing and other romantic stuff.  Jamie says he won't bless the union because Fergus has not been honest completely with Marsali in regards to the other women he has been with.
A little while later, Jamie is vomiting his brains out.  His door to his room is part way open and Mr. Willoughby comes in and warns Jamie he cannot continue on this path as it can cause serious injury to certain parts of the body, including the twisting of the testicles in which case the only cure is removal.  He reassures Jamie he has a cure for the seasickness.
The next morning, Jamie is feeling much better and Claire is amazed and says it must be that ginger tea she has been giving him. Jamie goes off to do something and Claire is walking and sees Mr. Willoughby using water from a bucket with a Chinese brush to write Chinese characters on the deck floor.  She kindly asks what it is he is doing.  He tells her it is part of his life story and when she asks about it, he says he cannot share his story yet.
Claire walks in to Jamie's room to find Mr. Willoughby putting needles into Jamie's face.  She chastises Jamie for not telling her the real reason he was feeling better.  Jamie admits that their relationship has been on rocky ground and he didn't want to upset her and adds  I didn’t want you to see it as more proof you didn’t belong here."  Claire gingerly takes Jamie's face in her hands and says that yes, her return has been hard with struggle and turmoil, but it has never been the question of her not loving him.
Jamie realizes that the ship is not moving and they rush up to the deck.  Apparantly the wind has stopped and they are temporarily stuck where they are.  Of course, Jamie forgot about the needles in his face and the Captain and other crew give him the strangest looks.  Mr. Willoughby tries to explain and Claire says she knows of acupuncture.
Days turn to weeks and the crew are now looking for their "Jonah" the one who didn't touch the horseshoe in the beginning of the voyage. This person, when found will simply be tossed over into the water.  Most of the barrels of water have spoiled due to water in the bilge and rations are cut in half.  There has been no rain either.
The Jonah is believed to be one of Jamie's men from Ardsmuir.  He wasn't seen touching the horseshoe and he doesn't remember if he did or not.  Suddenly there is an uproar and Jamie and Claire rush out to the deck to see what is going on.  The man is up on the mast, sitting and drinking while the crew below is telling him to jump.  Jamie climbs up and tries to reason with the man.  He reminds him of Ardsmuir and it was "them against us" and that is the situation now.  The man moves to act as to jump, but eventually gives in to Jamie and grabs Jamie's hand.
He slips and Jamie has to hold the man and try to swing him to the rigging which eventually succeeds.  When they come down, the ship's crew tries to grab for the man and Jamie and his followers stand in the way.
Meanwhile, Mr. Willoughby looks out at the ocean and sees a pelican flying low.  Apparently, this means something and before a full out brawl happens over yonder, he rings the bell to get everyone's attention.  He announces his real name and tells everyone a story of how he was chosen even at a young age to be great and was eventually chosen to be employed by the Emperor's second wife.  However, to have that job meant one had to become a eunuch to do so.  He says he fell in love with "woman" and Claire thought he meant the wife of the Emperor, but he tells her no, ALL WOMAN.  He goes on to describe a way a woman smells and certain body parts feel in a most descriptive way with metaphors using fruit.  He continues saying that he loved women too much and had to flee his homeland.  He ended up in a place where most women are disgusting (Chinese bathed a hell of alot more) and not even a prostitute wanted to lie with him.
Sad,   Yi Ten Cho, steps onto the edge of the ship and throws his life's story away into.....WIND.
Yes, the wind has returned and along with that rain.  The men are happy and now there is no Jonah.
We finally get a Jamie and Claire sex scene, but it is a quickie.  However the part right after and the words Jamie uses to describe Claire's gray hair like a piece of moonlight....beautiful.
Claire replies with a smile that if he were to say such things in the 20th century, he would be The King of Men.  Big grin on my face as that is a little easter egg for us book fans as Jamie is indeed the King of Men!
At night, Jamie and Claire are alone on deck and are looking at a full moon.  Jamie says something about the man in the moon and Claire goes on to say that just before she left her time, they had put men on the moon and sent back pictures.  It is very barren and rocky and the dark marks we see are the craters she tells Jamie.  She says a small quote from Goodnight Moon and says she used to read that every night to Bree and that their daughter had it memorized even before she knew how to read.
She mentions Bree always slept with her stuffed bunny toys...."She loved rabbits", Claire says, her eyes filling with emotion.  Jamie asks "Do you miss her."  "Terribly" Claire says as Jamie holds her tighter.
Bad luck is to come again.  This time as a British Man of War is signaling them (by shooting at them) to stop and prepare to be boarded.  The captain thinks that they will want men, but when a VERY young man comes aboard and introduces himself as the Captain, and then explains that he is probably the 4th captain by now, everyone is wondering what is going on.  The man asks if they have a physician on board and eyes turn to Claire.  In the captain's quarters, the man explains there has been an outbreak and they have lost many men....most of the crew actually.  Claire chastises him for even coming aboard because he could endanger everyone on the Artemis.  She asks him what the symptoms are.  The young captain tells her that it starts with pain in the gut, high fever, and the blazing s**ts.  Claire asks if there is a rash on the stomach and he confirms that yes there is.  She agrees to go aboard to look and Jamie is not too happy.
Out in the hall, he says it is too dangerous, but Claire says it is Typhoid Fever, but not as Jamie and them know it.  It hasn't been "discovered" yet.  She has been innoculated against it, so she cannot get it.  She reminds Jamie that she swore an oath to help save and preserve life when she became a doctor.  Jamie looks at her and says that he knows there is no talking her out of it.  However, he is not taking his eyes off that ship until she returns.
Claire goes over to the British ship and I can't even imagine the smell of the vomit and feces, etc in that space below!  Claire even has to cover her nose and mouth.  She verifies what it is and back above tells the captain what needs to be done and that she is willing to help stay a bit longer to help get them organized.  She gets a man to get others to bring the sick to the upper deck and she is escorted to Mr. Murphy, the cook to discuss boiling water.  He is giving her a hard time when there is a sudden jerk and the ship is moving.  Claire rushes up to the deck and confronts the captain about why they are moving.  He tells her that she is needed and that they too are headed for Jamaica and have sent word that they assure her safe return upon arrival there.
Claire is speechless and looks toward the Artemis as it is getting smaller and she has to be wondering if and when she will see her husband again. Until next episode......
So, I have seen mixed reviews.  I believe the show only people out there were pleased, however, they are rolling their eyes over Jamie and Claire being separated again.  Don't worry, it won't be nearly as long, but a little more dangerous.  For us book people, some of us are getting very upset to the disregard of Diana's work,  So, we don't get a trained pelican to fish for us now?  There was no horseshoe thing.  There was no Jonah.  Mr. Willoughby's speech, though still intact, isn't supposed to happen until Jamaica.  To me, they have been changing Claire and Jamie too much also.  Claire is never so overbearing and rude at times.  Jamie has dreams of Brianna as well as looking at a picture or two SO much it becomes worn around the edges.  He yearns to meet his daughter.  He seems so distant from that.
Anyway....what are your thoughts???  Thanks for reading!

Child pls… I’m gonna put these under a cut because holy shit that’s a lot of questions and I’m not flooding anyone’s dashes (forgive any typos pls. It’s late for me)
1. Would you have sex with the last person you text messaged?
That would be you, so nah bro

Fuck no

Nope
6. What are you excited for?

I guess it depends on what happens when they get really wasted? I’m usually the one drunk and don’t remember a lot so I couldn’t say

Coldhearted
I fucking love this episode. With like, the white hot intensity of a thousand suns. Because the animation is fucking flawless and the snow looks beautiful and Wally is 100% amazing! This may in fact be my favorite episode, certainly within my top 5 fav episodes if I had to rate them. PREPARE YOUR ANUS FOR LOTS OF IMAGES BECAUSE 500% OF MY APPRECIATION FOR THIS EPISODE IS ALL THE ANIMATION PORN.
SNOW!
Oh so clever, Greg and co., hiding the first number on Wally’s alarm clock so that is simply reads “16″ on his 16th birthday in a show where the number 16 is a constant theme. I’M ON TO YOU.
You ever notice how Wally has a poster of a female with really long blonde hair on his bedroom wall? Like we all know he’s just being a horndog teenaged boy, but like... GOT A THING FOR LONG BLONDE HAIR OR SOMETHING, WALLY?
Things confirming Wally is a huge nerd: lots of dorky looking action figures, a model rocket ship, a Flash poster, a microscope and lots and lots of books (probably of the science variety... and comics, no doubt), poster of some boxer dude, a poster for some horror movie called Day of Dark, and a piece of art I’ve seen on Jerome K. Moore’s deviantart of Wally, Barry, and Jay in their Flash get-ups. How cute! Also a poster or something that just looks like a pair of shoes on someone’s feet??? Idk about that one, it’s pretty dark. (I would take screenshots but sadly blu-ray format prevents me from doing so, and I don’t already have one saved in my extensive library of screens)
Look at this cutie weirdo singing to himself and doing a little dance in bed
Tumblr media
HOW THE FUCK DO THEY AFFORD TO FEED HIS ASS?
Tumblr media
“You want surprise just watch Miss Martian’s expression when I collect my birthday kiss!” (keep making yourself think that Megan is the one you really want to kiss, Wally. Like, for real.)
Wally, I don’t want to alarm you, but your dad is definitely Amon from Legend of Korra!
Damn, Mary sure is good, turning on the TV at the exact moment that Iris got to Wally’s birthday wish in her broadcast.
“Spisak Jr. High” And a nice shout out to the voice of our very own Wally West, Mr. Jason Spisak! <3
“Sure would be a shame if I missed my own--” “Surprise!”
Tumblr media
“Say Whaaaaaaaat, oh you guys, you shouldn’t have!” What a fucking little shit.
Tumblr media
A little shit with the best facial expressions though, amiright?
Okay. Time to stop being silly for a moment as we approach the part that many people have a problem with. This is the part where I crack my knuckles and have a differing opinion than most.
So here we have Wally’s birthday party, and him hinting around that he wants a birthday kiss from Miss M. It’s obvious that’s what he’s wheedling for, anyone with a pair of eyes can see that. And Artemis, who happens to have a pair of perfectly functioning eyes (arguably better than most, considering some of the amazeballs shots she’s made) happens to be standing right next to the little duo as the first exchange happens.
Artemis gets understandably annoyed and, of course, jealous. That’s her crush (that she’s been trying to forget about, but that’s been a huge no-go because it turns out the crush of her crush is dating her fallback crush… this is getting confusing). Trying to get a kiss from another girl. Of course she’s jealous.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I fucking would be, too. It’s a completely natural reaction. Artemis would never, ever admit it even over her dead body, but she wishes she was the one he was wanting a kiss from so bad.
Anyway, even Miss M guesses what he wants, and she decides to give him a kiss on the forehead because she’s his friend and nothing more. Artemis gets some obvious satisfaction from this. Is it petty? Well, yeah, but who ever said jealousy wasn’t petty? We’ve all been in that kind of position, be it with a crush or something else entirely, where something happens that ruins something for someone else and you just can’t help but feel completely fucking smug/happy about it even though you know you’re being an awful person for doing so.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Artemis is glad he gets denied because it means he’s not kissing a girl that isn’t her, and perhaps to another end, she’s smug about it because that means he’s getting denied his crush in the same way she was denied her fallback crush. Like, she knows Megan and Conner are a thing, and she already lost any chance at forgetting Wally via Conner, and now Wally is blatantly being denied his crush on Megan, so Artemis is basically taking huge, huge petty pleasure in him basically getting denied the same thing as her. They both have crushes on two people that are already in a relationship together, and if Artemis has to wake up and smell the coffee about it, then Wally is going to, too.
Is our girl Artemis being petty? Hell yes she is! And that just makes me love her more, because she’s a multi-faceted human being with emotions. Is she reacting in a bad way to said emotions? Yes! But this is all sort of in the same vein that Wally and Artemis meet each other in, where Wally’s bad reaction leads to a bad reaction on Artemis’s part, and then the two of them suffer the belligerent relationship that they do all season because of it. Artemis and Wally are both very raw people.
FUN TIME BREAK: “I know this is all very new and intimidating, but I promise you, someday, you’ll get used to watching Wally eat.”
Tumblr media
So majestic!
Back to for serious: Artemis walks up to Dick and Zee and is like “Think we should tell him?”
Tumblr media
Look at that devious face, my god Artemis you amazing spiteful thing, you!
“He is the only one who doesn’t know.” “Then, please, allow me.”
Artemis wants to burst his bubble the same way hers was burst. It is, without a doubt, 100% petty and horrible and born of jealousy, I’m not denying that. But it does NOT make me want to throw Artemis under the bus or act like she’s a horrible gargoyle or that she’s a bitch or what the fuck ever. It just makes me more interested in her motivations for this moment, it just makes me want to understand every catalyst that leads to this moment, the frustration. In Secrets, Artemis was mad and angry and mildly hurt because Conner is taken, Wally doesn’t want her, and now she’s stuck with her stupid feelings for a guy that she thinks is unobtainable, and I can understand how said feelings creeping back so unbidden into one’s mind with no other place to channel them would drive them to be spiteful about it when the opportunity arises.
I also just want to remind everyone that Wally and Artemis are 15 year old teenagers (well, 16 in Wally’s case as of this episode, but still). They are teenagers with charged emotions about fucking everything, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. They are not the mature adults they grow into slowly over the five year gap. They’re mature for teenagers in a lot of aspects, sure, with the kind of jobs they have they have to be. But they are still young and learning how to deal with certain kinds of emotions and situations. So to an extent some leniency needs to be given when they act like this. I’m not saying to entirely excuse it, rather just understand it and why and what have you.
Anyway, by the time Coldhearted rolls around, Artemis has been stuck with her Wally feelings again for however long the gap is between Secrets and Coldhearted, and she’s had enough of seeing Wally pine after unobtainable Megan in the same way she was pining over unobtainable Conner. So she’s like, fuck it, I’m telling him.
And she does. With much obvious pleasure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And on his birthday, no less. That seems to be the major act of heinousness that people can’t seem to get past when it comes to this scene in particular, is that it was on Wally’s birthday. His celebratory 16th birthday where everything should be happy fun time and all that jazz. It’s really hard for me to be bothered about it being on his birthday when it’s so obvious that Wally’s not even all that shocked or hurt about finding out. In fact, I’m convinced that both Artemis and Wally subconsciously knew that Megan and Conner were not interested in them/were taken long before they were actually privy to open evidence of it. They were just fooling themselves because they’re too afraid of owning up to the ways they feel for each other. In both cases, Conner and Megan were fallback/distraction crushes, and never anything more.
Wally literally does not fucking care after expressing his dejected “Oh maaaaan!” after Artemis informs him of the lovebirds. That’s it. That is literally it. Not once in the time we are privy to Wally’s innermost thoughts does he mention anything about Megan and Conner, or even Artemis. His concerns are all for the big League/Team team-up and later on for Perdita. Wally only had something that he subconsciously knew all along confirmed to him, and it fucking sucked, but that’s it. For the rest of the episode and every episode after, Wally has already moved on.
In fact, by Insecurity he has sufficiently matured from the events of Coldhearted and finally decides to “man up” for lack of a better phrase, and actually accept and try pursuing his feelings for Artemis. Pursue them in a real way, not in the exaggerated, ego-driven flirting way that he does with Megan. But in a very real, I’m-really-really-interested-in-this-girl kind of way; the fallback, safe distraction of Megan has been removed, allowing Wally to focus on how he really feels for Artemis.
In fact, I’ll just let Greg’s Spitfire rant speak for me on this one, as he puts it the best:
“Plus, let’s not forget the double-whammy of “Failsafe” and “Disordered”. Here we reveal just how intensely Wally feels for Artemis, and just how much interest each has in the other. The trick is that neither is prepared to take a risk. Rejection from Superboy (such as it was) is nothing compared to the fear Artemis has over being rejected by Wally.
Wally meanwhile is afraid to admit his strong feelings for Artemis, so maintains focus on the safer Miss Martian. Artemis does the same toward Superboy. Both then have to be disabused of the nothing that their crushes are viable. I tend to think that deep down, the revelation about Conner and M’gann’s relationship was less of a shock to each than it seemed. They didn’t want to admit to themselves what they were probably sensing deep down. One reason for Artemis’s extreme reaction to the knowledge, I think, is that she was trying SO hard to think that Superboy was a possibility BECAUSE Wally clearly seemed NOT to be, and so she wanted to having something she could use to push Wally out of her mind.
So in “Coldhearted”, Wally learns some big lessons. Miss Martian is out of the picture-- and that helps to clear his mind. But mostly, he matures solidly in the episode. Now he’s ready to behave differently. [...]”
Part of this is going to wind up leading me into a rant that’s better saved for when I get to Insecurity, though, so I’ll just go ahead and wrap this up.
Basically, I agree that Artemis was being petty and spiteful. She was jealous, I expect nothing less from her. But that just makes her a more amazing character, because truly amazing characters are not flawless, they are human beings with many different emotions and many different reactions and ways of dealing with things. They do not always respond to things in the “right” way.
I’m also inclined to say that someone needed to pull Wally’s head out of his ass at some point regardless, btw. Artemis, in being spiteful, also did him a favor. Not with any kind of just intentions, perhaps, but… anyway.
Long story short: I like this moment, it doesn’t both me, it just makes me enjoy Artemis’s character even more, and it certainly doesn’t warrant her being demonized or thrown under a bus. Nobody is perfect, Artemis is not perfect.
Moving on. I know the vast majority of you will disagree with my assessments, but whatever, let’s both just move on because you won’t change my mind and I obviously won’t change yours.
Leave it to Batman to really crash a party, AMIRIGHT?
“Can’t the Watchtower just blast them out of the sky or something?” “What’s a Watchtower?” *DEEP SIGH FROM BATMAN* Goddamnit Wally you can’t just go around saying shit like that you little shit.
Oh my god they’re all a bunch of little dorks, all excited about a Team/League team-up.
Have I mentioned how much I love their polar stealth and wish it had popped up in more than just two episodes? Like, they’re all so adorable!
“Now that’s a birthday wish come true!”
Tumblr media
“Uuuuh, Batman? I think youuuu skipped…” “Kid Flash.”
Tumblr media
“A girl in Seattle is in desperate need of a heart transplant.”
Tumblr media
Oh Wally, Wally, get your priorities straight, dude. :( That’s what I love about this episode though, he grows up in so many ways and it’s really nice to see him have such a major shift in what his real priorities in life are.
“Who is this girl!?” “Does it matter?” (I almost wrote a fanfic once in which it was an AU, where Artemis was the girl that needed the heart transplant and Wally was delivering it to her. I still wouldn’t mind visiting the idea, I never really did get it quite off the ground but it has potential)
“Speedy delivery boy, at your service…”
Tumblr media
Ugh, Wally. It’s like… such a burden to him at first. He’s so much more upset about missing out on the League-Team team up that he files this mission away in his mind as a chore, an errand run, something on the side that he’s being forced into and it’s going to make him miss out on all the fun on his birthday. It’s sad to see him think that way, but by the end of it, it’s a very proud moment to see him having realized that delivering that heart was the best thing he’d done that day, the best way he could have spent his birthday, something he can feel proud of. I FUCKING LOVE WALLY AND I LOVE THIS EPISODE, OKAY?
(Also just pointing out that Wally’s reacting way more negatively to delivering this heart than he remotely acted to finding out M’gann was taken. JUST SAYING. And that if Artemis is at fault for telling Wally about M’gann on his B-day, Wally is at fault for reacting so horribly about delivering a heart to someone that’s dying. They’re both only human though, and I love seeing them both like this. I’m just using this to reinforce my points)
MMM that snow! So beautiful! I remembered before this episode aired I had been desperately hoping there would be a YJ episode with either heavy snow or rain in at least a decent chunk of episode. For no other reason than I love snow and rain weather effects and how they can be used to really set up a scene. (not to mention one of my favorite episodes of Teen Titans, “Haunted”, took place almost entirely in a heavy rainfall setting, and I digged it)
Tumblr media
So Wally runs from literally one end of the country to the other in what, under four hours?
Tumblr media
Don’t expect half of this rewatch post to literally just be me posting screenshots for their beauty.
He’s so fucking nonchalant about the fact that he LITERALLY has someone’s life strapped to his back. Oh, Wally, my son. *sigh*
Tumblr media
“As crystal, babe.” “Then go.” “Guess asking for her number’s pointless...” Oh yes, this is a guy who has clearly just had his romantic feelings completely crushed and shattered. He’ll be mourning for months! MONTHS I TELL YOU. ARTEMIS YOU MONSTER.
Tumblr media
“Do you see him!?” “Nope.” “Did you see him!?” “Nnnope.” LOL
“I’m at max speed now, but if I really push it, I can dump this load, save the girl, and still get in on the action!” Oh my god, Wally... DUMP THIS LOAD? LIKE IT’S GARBAGE? I love him so much but UGH. WALLY PLEASE.
And the infamous scene where Kaldur steps on his king’s shoulders to get up in the air for an attack, lmao
Chicken Whizee’s sound like the most disgusting thing ever. Like, literally all I can think of is something gross milkshake with bits of chicken in it or something. *shudders*
Also, Wally, you cannot fucking pay for food with A HUMAN HEART, GOOD LORD.
South Dakota! Been there, seen that.
Go away, Vandal! (man Vandal is legit a scary ass villain in this cartoon, like damn. It scares me when he grabs Wally and shit, like, he could probably break him like a twig and it disturbs me)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Can we just appreciate the actual shock waves from Wally slamming into Vandal at maximum speed?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wally’s such a fierce fucking fighter when he gets the chance. That’s why I love this episode so damn much (among other reasons). We REALLY get the chance to see Wally at his rawest when it comes to fighting and his speed, like he just lets loose with no holds barred when it comes to Vandal. Speedsters are goddamn dangerous and I LOVE it. (I also love Wally using himself as a human cannonball).
“Go, get out of here! I’ll handle Vandal!” “You’ll “handle” me?” “Little hero, do you really think you have what it takes to survive Vandal Savage?”
Tumblr media
Put my baby down you piece of shit!
Tumblr media
Wally literally stared death in the face and said, “NOT TODAY!”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at him fucking fight! Goddamn it’s so amazing! (also where did your Flash symbol go in that last one, Wally??)
And like, I don’t have a fucking screenshot or gif of it but Vandal punches him and he goes flying backwards and catches himself in a one armed handstand and lands on his feet. HOW FUCKING COOL IS THAT?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“When I heard authorities were (?) off this highway for a speedster, I assumed I’d be confronting Flash himself-- He and I are due for a reckoning.”
God, I’ll never stop being curious about what must have happened between Vandal and Flash to make Vandy say that... color me forever intrigued.
Wolf looks fucking demonic when he bites those wires on that auto-turret, omg.
Tumblr media
“Kind of bashing my head into a brick wall here, need a new approach.” I REALLY wish I could make a million gifs of this fight, tbh. I don’t have any screens for some of this shit, nor other gifs saved and it’s a damn shame.
“Dude, you are so running on fumes right now. Battle didn’t help with that, either. But forget the hunger, forget the freezing temp, forget the wind chill! Just go, go!” Atta boy, Wally! Getting those priorities straight!
Tumblr media
I honestly always love hearing Zee cast spells, it sounds so cool.
Wally reeeeally needs to work on his brakes.
Now prepare for some cute/sad Wally spam:

Oh man, though... could you imagine if Wally really had legit been twelve minutes off because of that fight, and Queen Perdita had actually died? He would NEVER forgive himself for that. That would eat him the fuck up for like... the rest of his life. Holy shit.
“Twelve minutes... the fight took fifteen...” Oh my god I can’t, he’s so crushed. :(
Tumblr media
You can tell he’s so fucking drained throughout this last scene.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at him, crawling on the ground to try and get away. He’s NOT going to let that little girl die!
I like how this time Wally is able to power through and punch Vertigo in the face, whereas back in Revelations he couldn’t quite make it and Vertigo just knocks him away.
WALLY DOESNT HAVE TIME FOR THESE AUTOMATED DOORS.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“It’s called, YOU’RE BUSTED, JERKFACE!”
WALLY ILU NEVER STOP BEING SO AWESOME.
Awwwww, Perdita, you had Wally forever at “Souvenir.” <3 I just love headcanoning that they maintain a friendship for like, ever after this. So fucking sweet!
“The sword was cool, but, this just seemed like the right souvenir for the mission.” Hey, this totally echoes what Wally says to Artemis at the end of the Insecurity mission. “Keep the sai. This is the right souvenir for the mission.” Ouch. But more on that when I get to Insecurity)
“The man who finally figured out that the sweetest birthday present a lucky stiff like me could ever get, was seeing that little girl smile.”
LEAVE ME, LEAVE ME WALLY KILLS ME AT THE END OF THIS EPISODE I NEED TO CRY. I LOVE SEEING MY BABIES GROW UP.

“This is pointless.”
“It’s not pointless.” Ryou didn’t even spare a glare over his shoulder at Wakana, too focused on all the windows he had open across three monitors. “There’s a pattern here. We just have to find it.”
Privately, Youichi agreed with Wakana, but he knew better than to admit that. It wouldn’t actually fix anything, and it would only wind Ryou up more. The only thing to do was to let him work it out of his system. They had to play the waiting game.
The three bags of chips Youichi had stress eaten in the last minute weren’t doing a great job of projecting calm, though. They were family sized.
“Much as I hate to think we did all that work for nothing, I think Wakana-chan has a point,” Takako broke in gently. She patted Wakana’s cheek where it rested against her thigh. Katsuko hung off her shoulders, looking almost asleep except for where her eyes focused on Ryou’s screens. She was looking for a pattern as desperately as Ryou.
“Everyone has a pattern,” Ryou insisted. “We just have to find it.”
“Not to keep beating a dead horse, but there are a few more resources we’re not using,” Wakana pointed out.
“I’m not bringing in anyone else,” Ryou snapped. Or, snapped for him. From anyone else, it would be a gentle scolding. But Youichi had never heard anyone else hold such a dangerous undercurrent of anger in what should have been a light reproach. Ryou was scary specifically because he never had to try to be. He let his abilities speak for themselves, and it was impossible not to believe them.
A lot of people thought Youichi wasn’t afraid of Ryou, not after all these years. They weren’t entirely right. Youichi had just learned where Ryou’s boundaries were, and knew exactly how much he could push them. The truth was, Ryou’s anger was almost never turned on him, hadn’t been since they were kids. And even when it was, it was only ever playful. Ryou communicated in subtle digs and karate chops, and over the years Youichi had learned to read the emotion in them.
Ryou wasn’t playing now.
“I don’t see much point in sitting around watching you bark orders at Kuramochi,” Wakana snapped back. Youichi felt the room go cold. He tore open another bag of chips and started furiously stress eating them.
“Add another string to the board,” Ryou said, deliberately enunciating in Wakana’s direction. “Henchman D to Superman.”
Youichi sped to complete the order, sitting back down by the time Takako’s hair had settled from the wind.
“Superman? Seriously?” It was the first time Katsuko had spoken up in an hour.
“We’re pursuing all options,” Ryou said.
“We’ve met Clark,” Katsuko protested. “He’s not working with the Joker.”
“Maybe not intentionally.”
“That’s enough,” Wakana said. “We’re not going down this road of suspecting everyone. It’ll just drive us crazy, and it won’t take us anywhere. We need more intel, and if we can’t get it ourselves, we should ask for help.”
“If you’re just gonna complain, you can leave,” Ryou said. His shoulders were tensed like they did before a fight. “I can do this on my own.”
Youichi watched the girls exchange glances. All three clearly shared Youichi’s opinion that this was going nowhere, but none of them moved. They couldn’t, he realized. They couldn’t give up the ghost of a chance that Ryou was right, and there was a pattern in all this mishmash of data they’d stolen.
They couldn’t give up their chance at the Joker.
Wakana made a scoffing noise, shifting on Ryou’s bed until she was facing the right way and her head was on a pillow. Takako slid down until she was laying next to Wakana, and Katsuko followed, pillowing her head in her arms on Takako’s back as she kept her eyes fixed on the screens.
None of them actually looked more relaxed, and certainly they weren’t closer to sleep. They’d just settled in for the long haul.
Youichi was the only one still willing to step in and stop this, and he’d already decided it would be better to wait it out. It looked like they were all in for a long night.
“Nice to see all of you alive.” Youichi felt his stomach drop. They’d all been so focused on Ryou’s call for help sifting through all the data that they’d forgotten to close the door.
Youichi turned slowly, which really meant that he turned at normal speed, hoping against hope that it was only Jun. It was probably cosmic punishment that the entire team was there, looking in the door.
“Batgirl?” Tetsu asked, focusing on the girls on the bed. “And Zatanna and Artemis?”
“Aren’t you usually patrolling with Otou-san by now?” Miyuki asked. Katsuko sat frozen, drawing herself smaller and smaller behind Takako.
For one wild moment, Youichi thought maybe they’d think this was some kind of fucked up grief circle, and not the near-betrayal it actually was.
But it was hard to miss the picture of the Joker at the center of the crime board.
Jun, Tetsu, Sawamura, and Miyuki all turned identical looks on the back of Ryou’s head. Ryou didn’t respond to them, but Youichi felt the guilt shredding his stomach.
“You’re going after the Joker,” Tetsu said, voice hard as flint.
“Obviously,” Ryou said. His tone wasn’t that different from neutral, but Youichi could hear the strain. Much as he tried, he couldn’t pretend this was just business as usual anymore.
“Why didn’t you tell us?” Sawamura demanded. “We want to help!”
“There’s nothing for you to help with,” Ryou said. Youichi winced as Sawamura’s face fell. Ryou had meant nothing more than that they didn’t have a path forward yet, and there wasn’t much Sawamura could do to fix that, but Ryou couldn’t have worded it worse.
“So why is Kuramochi here, then?” Jun asked. “He the only one that’s good enough for you?”
“He kicked down my door and demanded to help,” Ryou said. “I don’t know if any of you have tried to shake him before, but-”
“We shouldn’t have to demand to help you,” Tetsu cut him off. “We are your team.”
“Katsuko?” Youichi didn’t want to look Miyuki in the eye, but he forced himself to. He’d known Miyuki would be the angriest, because Miyuki had the most reason to be angry. He’d expected the white-faced fury to be directed at Ryou, and probably at himself by proxy.
But what really hurt was that Youichi could see around the anger. He could see the betrayal, and the rejection, and most of all, a deep seated pain that Youichi hadn’t even known was there and didn’t even know how to begin to go about fixing. Miyuki had always been clingy with the few people he let in close, but Youichi had never put that together with a raw sense of abandonment that showed so clearly on Miyuki’s face.
“Hey, Nii-san,” Katsuko said quietly, still sinking farther behind Takako.
“You asked her?” Miyuki demanded, dark fury obvious in his voice as he turned on Ryou. “I’m your archer!”
“She’s better suited for this mission,” Ryou said. He faced Miyuki with a carefully blank expression.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“We’re not throwing the Joker back in Arkham,” Ryou said. “This isn’t some tea party.”
Miyuki reeled back at the obvious implication that he wasn’t good enough somehow. Youichi wanted to step in, smooth it over, but there was no fixing this.
“Obviously we can help,” Sawamura cut in. His lip jutted out as he faced Ryou down. “You want to kill the Joker. You should’ve asked us to help.”
Youichi would worry about how Sawamura was instantly down with murder later, when he wasn’t shrinking under the force of Miyuki’s pain.
“I hope you know you’re settling for second best,” he said, eyes focused on Katsuko. She winced at the insult. “Sorry, third best. I forgot you’re a worse shot than Otou-san, too.”
He turned on his heel and left, and Youichi heard the sounds of the zeta tube firing up. The silence was so thick he could choke on it.
“Katusko…” Ryou started.
“Don’t,” she interrupted. “I knew what the consequences of my actions were when I agreed to this.”
“That was still harsh,” Takako said. Katsuko’s expression clearly said she thought she deserved it anyway.
“We’re helping track down the Joker,” Jun said firmly. “You want us gone? You’ll have to kick us off the Titans.”
It wasn’t an empty threat. Jun really was ready to leave if Ryou tried to push him away now, and Youichi knew Tetsu at least would follow him.
“Then you can sit with everyone else and help me try to find a way to track down the Joker,” Ryou said, turning back to his screens. Jun took it as the permission it was, sitting down beside the girls. Tetsu followed, leaning against a wall. Sawamura took one last forlorn look down the hallway that Miyuki had long since vacated before he finally walked in.
Youichi surveyed the new team crammed into Ryou’s room. There was a grim set to everyone’s expressions, for now united in their goal. But Youichi didn’t even want to think about the mess it would be to fix everything when this was all over. He wondered if Ryou had even considered that, or if he’d only looked at Joker.
Maybe Ryou would crumble if he put his eyes anywhere else.
