3.3k words summarizing queliot if you've never seen the magicians. or if youve seen it and you want to indulge in my insane criticisms. lord touch his mind

okay so the magicians was a tv show about a bunch of post grads learning magic in magic university then discovering that the fantasy world from a kids book series was actually real and the Beast of that world was out to get them. WHO GIVES A FUCK. the crazy people were focused on the relationship btwn main character quentin coldwater (depressed, heart on his sleeve, surprise sex maniac who is new to magic and loves those books) and gay best friend eliot waugh (substance addicted (big surprise!!), gay trauma, named after evelyn waugh oh you know…) they form a friendship and it’s weirdly touchy and close. eliot keeps trying to seduce quentin but it’s never serious. i dont even think quentin notices. anyone remember the “lets not talk” scene? he was about to fuck that sad man. anyway this tension was actually fulfilled by the end of the 1st season with a drunk threesome including the two and their best friend margo. they at least kiss and cuddle and MAYBE sucked dick if the ghost of his girlfriend who haunts him later is to be believed (which i do #cockinhismouthsunday).

at this time articles that were like “THIS SIFI SERIES IS PROUDLY BISEXUAL” were coming out which. lol. lmfao! quentin never had any sort of queer identity. not even a hint of it. the homophobia of the show started with the regurgitation of the “sad drunk lonely sex-crazed” gay man trope with eliot, then the “everyone is fluid but no one actually has same sex attraction” trope, THEN by sidelining and killing off almost every gay or trans character, THEN THE QUENTIN THING. and the quentin thing turned people insane. let’s see why.

so after the threesome, eliot and quentin continue having a good friendship. there is some tension that isnt present with margo which sure is a choice… but it is resolved by a heartfelt crowning ceremony nd hug. oh theyre kings of the magic land now btw. eliot and q are pretty much separate from this point on xcept for certain episodes/moments. it is strange they dont have any storylines together. but love finds a way. at some point a version of eliot sacrifies himself for quentin. if u look at the scene it is on instinct it is crazy. then they reunite at the end of s2 but it’s all business really. the show was really involved w its nonsense plot.

anyway season 3. hahaha. so like i said theyre separate most of the show past s1. this is true in this season xcept for episodes 305 and 313 (with some notable moments in between). the plot of this season is that they have to go on quests to collect keys. the creature that gives eliot this plot calls quentin his “brother of the heart”. ok! when they see each other for the first time in a while in 304, they hug in a very sweet way :) look at this photo from bts during that scene :) i have it framed

after a series of other quests, 305 turns out to be the Eliot and Quentin quest! finally a story with the two! the quest is for the “time key”, which is fabled to be given to whoever solves the mosaic puzzle in fillory (magic world). the puzzle? they have to arrange 100s of tiles in a way that depicts “the beauty of all life”. quentin is very excited about it. eliot is happy to hear him infodump. they eventually get pushed into fillory to solve the mosaic. turns out they were also sent DECADES in the past. there might have been a way out but they were dead-set on solving the mosaic and getting their key. so they get to work. they live in a cottage attached to the mosaic and they spend hours, days, months on it. just the two of them and the mosaic. this episode is called “a life in a day” which is so perfect you wonder why the writing couldnt be that good within the show.

at the 1 year anniversary, quentin kisses eliot. and eliot kisses him back. and you wonder woah what does this mean?! well keep wondering girl because this tv show does not care to explore any of that. it chugs on and eliot and q fight about “living their lives there” and quentin gets a Wife and has a child with her and then she DIES (leaving her as a narrative incubator rather than an actual character, which is very in line with the sexism of the show). and they grow up and decades pass and the child grows old enough to leave and it seems eliot co-parented him but (again) the tv show doesnt care to show you that. and this whole time theyre working on the mosaic. years and years. eventually they grow old. it’s just the two of them. until eliot dies. quentin goes to bury him in the mosaic plot and he finds a special little tile. he places it in the mosaic. he gets the key. the puzzle is solved. “the beauty of all life”. but quentin is alone. his life companion is gone. and that’s the last we see of him.

we go back in time til before they enter fillory. their friend stops them and she has the key through time shenanigans and they never live that timeline. UNTIL!!!!! they do. they remember it all. what does decades (50 yrs btw) of living happily together mean for them?!? FUCK ALL APPARENTLY!!!! because the next episode (306 if yr keep track) they mention it ONCE AND NEVER AGAIN. and there is so much beneath the surface with the looks and the line that mentions it (“go be life partners with someone else” eliot says jokingly in a manner that shouldve been the catalyst to quentin’s magic-induced suicide spiral later that episode).

ok quentin does mention it once more to his dying dad. but nothing about his Male Life Partner Of Fifty Years. Nothing. they dont even talk about it with their best friends, leading one to believe they just kept it a secret . which. okay.

okay. so theyre apart til the last episode of the season. and quentin decides to sacrifice himself by locking himself in a cage with a monster for all of eternity. he says the quest prepared him for it which is yikesss. eliot refuses. but quentin insists. they travel to the prison (he gets back together with his gf during this trip btw they had been apart that season after some shit. one of their worst writing decisions i hate this stupid ass cockroach relationship). quentin almost exchanges himself. then eliot shoots the monster. dooming them all.

so the monster doesnt die. instead he possesses eliot. and that becomes the story for season 4. at first quentin and co think eliot is dead. and it’s devastating lol. an interesting thing is that the monster was so. touchy with quentin. unbearably so. it’s such a perverse reflection of eliot’s touch. which is sorta pointed out by quentin in this quote (paraphrase) “i know it’s not eliot. but he has his face and his eyes…”

anyhow 405. hahahahahaha. so this episode it’s revealed eliot is alive but trapped in his own head. and to get out for a moment and tell his friends he’s alive, he needs to confront his most terrible most shameful memory. the whole episode is him trying to figure out what it is. meanwhile, quentin and co are setting up a plan to kill the monster. and quentin breaks up with his gf (lol). in a deleted scene that WAS shown in promo they argue about the monster. and quentin says “im team eliot”. lol

anyhow, eliot’s hit a dead end. he cant figure the worst thing that’s happened in his life. then his memory of quentin (theyve been hangin out) says he’ll “sacrifice” himself if he had to. eliot smiles and says “i know youre just a memory… but youre a very generous one.” and quentin says— (im reciting this from memory btw all of this has been from 4 years of NON STOP thinking about it) quentin says “well you sacrifice for the people you love” and he gives eliot a VERY pointed look. and then it dawns on eliot. and the guilt is instantly palpable.

hahahahha. hahaha. hahahahahaha. okay so eliot goes to the memory he knows is the worst thing he’s ever done. his most traumatic memory, after a lifetime of violent homophobia and bad choices. the person possessed before him described this memory as being “the day he left home”.

the memory? the day they remembered their past lives. did it happen? fifty years. it happened.

theyre sat under a wedding arch (that was the b plot of the episode lol). it’s beautiful. eliot watches the memory play out, standing in front of the seated figures. the guilt. the guilt.

outside, the tension is building. the plan to kill the monster is in motion. quentin has to coax him to a certain spot. he has to look at him as he kills his best friend.

eliot doesnt know this but he gets anxious watching it play out. there is a certainty that this is it. the first time viewer has no idea whats going on. we never saw the direct aftermath of them remembering. we always assumed there wasnt anything.

well a year after 305 aired, a yr after thinking THAT WAS IT, they recontextualize Everything.

it is worth saying here that in the promo interviews leading up to season 4, quentin’s and eliot’s actors were sussing it UP. quentin’s at some point talks on q’s queerness, saying it was the one aspect of his life he didnt feel anxious about.

well

what happens is that quentin asks eliot for a relationship. remember how it was quentin who first kissed eliot? it happens again. heart on his fucking sleeve. i can recite this scene pretty well so im going to fucking do it:

did it happen? fifty years. it happened. it was sort of beautiful. it really was. i know this is gonna sound dumb but … us. i mean we work. we know it cause we lived it. who gets that proof of concept? (eliot smiles uneasily) we just got injected with fifty years of memories so i get that youre not thinking clearly. no im just saying… what if we gave it a shot, would that be so crazy? (eliot looks down, worried and thoughtful. quentin smiles RADIANTLY it is BLINDING) why the fuck not?

editors opinion: quentin is such a beautiful person. to be so truthful about something so scary is unthinkable. especially in context of him being so hopelessly and quietly in love his childhood best friend, and his whirlwind romance with previously mentioned gf, and all the tragedy he endured with these two. but this is someone who loves with his whole heart. what was he supposed to do? contain it?

then eliot hardens.

i know you and you arent… whats the matter? dont be naive it matters. (pause) q i love you but… that isnt me and that definitely isnt you. not when we have a choice. (quentin looks away. he wipes his eye) oh. okay. sorry.

and silence. the real eliot, the eliot who isnt the memory, looks on. tired and angry, he speaks to himself:

what the hell is wrong with you? what the hell are you doing? someone Good and True… Loves you. yeah it was a little crazy but you knew. you knew this truly mattered. and you just SNUFFED IT OUT.

then he looks to the memory of quentin. soft as the clouds:

q. im sorry. i was afraid. and when im afraid i run away.

then he kisses him. and he hits you with the thesis of the episode:

if i ever get out of here q… know that when im braver it cause i learned it from you.

well

thats his most traumatic memory. he is granted passage to consciousness. what is the first thing he sees? quentin. the real quentin.

q? (smiles) q (laughs) it’s me. it’s eliot. ok come on no games. it’s eliot. i said no games. (eliot looks around, worried as all hell) fifty years (he walks towards q) who gets proof of concept like that? what? peaches and plums motherfucker (this is the symbol to their mosaic life) im alive in here. (eyes as wide as saucers, heart in his throat) eliot…

and he ruins their plans of killing the monster. “eliot’s alive.”

then the episodes keep rolling. “eliot eliot eliot. why do you care so much about him?” “because i do.” and “wow i love that plan. except the part where it doesnt save eliot.” quentin gets back with his gf for reasons only the devil knows. but fine ok whatever quentin and eliot will HAVE to talk post-saving. even if the writers ignore it once more they have some kind of relationship. and they do save eliot in the finale! you know who they dont save? lmfao

quentin dies. in a manner that many including myself found weird and unsatisfactory and suicidal. and he never gets to know how eliot feels. never. he’s just gone. their story means nothing 💯

editors note: this ending broke me. i was using the show as a depression crutch, so a fate so hopeless ruined me. cant blame the show for my mistake but being so technically bad certainly didnt help.

well when the show came back for its next (and final lol) season, they did attempt closure for eliot and quentin. for some reason this was all contained in 3 episodes, most of it in the third (503) but what the fuck ever. it has its moments.

the episode is basically about eliot and alice (q’s gf i dont think ive mentioned her name. sorry alice) going on a mini quest up a treacherous mountain for grievers to return a piece of quentin’s soul back to the underworld. their fights are soooo funny. toxic lover vs almost-lover.

alice at some point says “well he was MY boyfriend this is MY pilgrimage and you just TAGGED ALONG” and (blood obviously boiling) eliot goes “right, because he meant nothing to me”. and this highlights something so sneakily homophobic about this whole affair. quentin and eliot’s relationship never mattered to the narrative as much as all the other straight relationships, especially quentin and alice’s. like i said, they would separate for entire seasons. you will be happy to know that not 1 episode goes by without quentin and alice conflicting and making up conflicting and etc. i dont understand how quentin and eliot’s relationship wasnt important enough. they were best friends, they kissed multiple times and had sex AT LEAST once if the mosaic subtext isnt considered. and the mosaic… it isnt just that they lived together for 50 yrs and raised a child and were happy, something they couldnt quite grasp in their old lives… they achieved the beauty of all life. that is a monumental achievement that shouldve changed not only their lives, but their stories.

the thing about the confession is that it wasnt planted in s3. talking about 405, the writers said they came up with it while working on that episode. it was essentially a retcon. though its inclusion explains why they didnt talk about it literally, it doesnt excuse the narrative outright ignoring it. it DEFINITELY doesnt account for why it ignored the rest of the SAME SEASON it was ESTABLISHED IN. if this was quentin and alice, they would be talking about it nonstop. and guess the fuck what when they get back together it is *non stop*.

SO. 503. they are on their pilgrimage. tensions build. eliot hallucinates quentin’s voice (it’s a soundbite from the mosaic when eliot dies which is depressing). they meet another traveller who is grieving his long dead boyfriend.

the traveller asks who theyre grieving and alice goes My Boyfriend and eliot looks away and says he knew him as a friend and it’s so sad it makes me want to die. why did they invent new exciting ways for gay people to be ashamed of who they love. i hate this show.

anyway the traveller talks about his boyfriend and how he was a magician who died young and how his dreams were haunted by him. and eliot is listening so intensely you want to jump hale appleman for being so good at this acting thing. alice goes to sleep and leaves the two alone. then they really start talkin:

(the traveller asks) have you ever had love? (eliot smiles small, hesitant) love…? yeah love. (pause) the friend we’re putting to rest. (traveller is delightfully shock) wasnt just a friend.

truly truly truly cant describe to you how much it physically pains me that it took 2 seasons and for one of them to die and a conversation with a stranger to get to this point. why wasnt this always part of the narrative. why does this only matter now after 2 yrs of fans badgering you about why this isnt part of the fucking show despite BEING PART OF THE FUCKING SHOW! it is dead obvious this was never the intent so even with something that should feel right feels wrong because the show never wanted it. it never wanted quentin to be in love with eliot. but it doesnt make sense if he isnt. i hate this show.

the convo continues 🙄:

does she know? oh god no. a torrid secret affair. (eliot looks away) no, nothing like that.

and i wish eliot was given a proper story. i wish i knew what was going on in his head through all of this. i wish i wish.

so it is revealed that quentin and eliot “had love” and that eliot is keeping it a secret (a revelation considering they werent intimate on screen past the 1 yr anniversary, they were only ever referred to as best friends by cast and crew, AND even what they were was obscured in the confession scene. and their feelings didnt matter past 405 fuck this world). this is huge. it should be huge. eliot’s first arc is about how he cant fall in love until he does and gets his heart broken. quentin’s stories are so wrapped up in alice that having another love interest should complicate that entirely. it doesnt.

the climax of the episode is when eliot expresses difficulty of letting go of quentin and alice says “he was your friend” and eliot replies (quick as if not meaning to) “he wasnt just my friend.” and wowww. how cathartic. the first time in the history of the show they talk about it. 5 seasons btw.

and eliot tells her about the mosaic and how “we loved each other for a really really long time.” and how he told him to fuck off and how he died for him and how he was never able to talk to him again. he just died.

and that part is supposed to be cathartic too. it feels cathartic for eliot the character at least. but to me the Viewer. i was sick of how they were trying to appeal to MY thoughts of what he should be feeling. as if trying to placate me. cuz if it was soo important it wouldnt just been solved after this episode. he DGAF about quentin after this. i dont get it. why cant they write a proper story.

well one line that stuck with me and i truly felt was this:

alice: he was pretty in love with you eliot: i wouldnt say that alice: .. i would

and then eliot looks at her the most devastated a man can look.

thats it. that’s quentin and eliot. a heartfelt and final fuck this show. the fic goes crazy esp the 2019 shit.

Honestly caine seems like a comedy sort of guy, you know? He looks like he enjoys telling and hearing a good joke every now and then. So I can easily see you two just rattling off jokes to each other until your digital lungs cant handle the sheer amount you guys are laughing!

I think he would lightly tease you for your laugh, but it's all in good fun!

POMNI:

I think she would be able to find some humor in your jokes, even through her desperation to escape the circus. I think that there would be some occasions where she would tell you to cut it out with the jokes, mostly if shes trying to look around for any clues of an exit

As for the laugh, I think it REALLY catches her off guard, especially in the beginning. Probably just stands there awkwardly

Honestly I personally see ragatha not being able to tell good jokes, be it because they dont make sense or because the punchline just isnt that funny.... perhaps both. Point is only the dullest of people will laugh at her attempts. With that being said I think she would love hearing you chatter! Really helps take the stress out of a hard day

Now this man can be a real jokester. Sure a lot of his jokes revolve around some level of meanness and teasing, so theres a chance your senses of humor may clash against one another. Afterall, humor that relies on making fun of people isnt for everyone and it can only go so far until it steps into bullying territory. Similar to caine, you two have a "joke off"

I think he would either find your laugh really goofy, or annoying. No in between though it may vary by the day. Probably gives you a nickname based on what your laugh sounds like

He gives dad vibes so by law he has to enjoy dad jokes, that's his humor. Bad cheesy jokes are his go to. I don't think he himself makes many jokes, given his current state,but I think he does appreciate it when you go off and tell him a bunch of jokes

I think if you had a really distinct or intense laugh it would catch him off guard, but ultimately he grows used to it

Doesnt really understand how you can laugh at literally anything. Well, unless its jax getting karma for his antics.. then maybe they would laugh along with you. As funny as they think you are, I dont think they would be able to listen to jokes and funny stories every day for an extended period of time. Zooble had a short social battery imo and they do like their alone time. Nothing against you, this is just how they are!

Very similar to jax in regards to your laugh, just without the nickname portion. I think they would feel just a touch bad if your laugh happens to irritate them, they at least understand you cant really. Change your laugh

Ohohohoh when she had her comedy mask, you guys are bouncing off one another like in Caines piece! However when her comedy mask is broken and shes shedding tears, your jokes can still make her lighten up just a bit.. so hey at least its helping someone..!

Honestly she kind of finds your laugh endearing. It's just so genuine and open, you dont try to hide your laugh or suppress it or try to change it. I dunno, maybe I'm putting too much thought into gangle having a mask that literally effects her mood and demeanor, but I think she would wish she could be as open as you

How about Steve and bug talking about what they think their future is gonna be like? When he comes and visits her at work and they just talk about random stuff. He just says something off handedly like " I hope my kids read like you do, I want them to be booksmart like you." " Do you wanna have kids?"

" oh yeah definitely I want six."

"Six?! I could probably only handle three, if my kids are anything like me they'll be leash kids I'm serious."

And it's just sweet, them talking about how they hope their life to be, not knowing that they're each other's future.

steves question causes you to drop the change youd been counting at the register. "im sorry, what?"

"kids?" he sees your bewilderment and frowns. "what, youve never thought about your future?"

"and im seventeen and know for a fact that i want my kids to be booksmart like you." steve responds, not even paying that much attention to you as he busies himself with a comic.

you stare at him in shock. god, steve harrington really does just say the most bizarre things so casually. hes thought about his kids? and about how he wants them to be like you?

sometimes, you really hate that he does this. because then he just leaves you there, always standing in shock, as he goes about his day as if this is all normal.

you take a deep breath and shake your head, you have a job to do. dimes and nickels need to be attended to. "can i ask what sparked this insane thought?"

steve holds up the comic hes reading. "see, these i like. but those books about war and peace? no thanks. but... i dont know. guess theyd be good for my kids, seeing as they made you so smart."

you laugh. "im not the genius you think i am. i still think spider-man is real."

"youre like, the top of your class. shush."

"so sassy for a man who daydreams about having kids." you tease, but something shifts behind steves eyes.

"it is weird, isnt it?" he ducks his head down. "sorry."

related to that last post but i am not putting it in ops notes, like. ok so everyone has a timer ticking down to the death. uh huh. thats great. yeah the horror of meeting someone and knowing they'll die some day and weighing the options you'll have with that time. yeah ok. i am going to lose it a little bit tho because what about yourself. do you even know how to mourn yourself. in a world filled with grief do you not get tired of it. from strangers. from people leaving you because you don't have much longer. don't you get sick of not being allowed to talk about your timer because no one wants to acknowledge you're going to die. so you sit with your grief by yourself as they are taking your life away because you are going to die so there's no point in Living with you. what if one day you decided to live anyways. you are going to die. you are happy. you know you do not have time and its ok because you are doing what you love. what about the acceptance. do you accept it.

shit like this just kind of infuriates me. no one *ever* wants to talk from the point of view of someone who is going to die soon. these concepts and writing prompts almost always revolve around the idea that you're normal. yeah everyone has timers over their head ticking down to their death, isnt that fucked up? isn't it fucked that you know when someone else will die? we dont have to talk about when you will die. or isn't it fucked we all know exactly how everyone else will die? we dont need to talk about how you will die, it's the grief of looking at someone else and knowing they're going to die.

we all know the trope of a wife dying just for her husband to be sad is very bad and shitty. this is framed as a feminist issue. it is, and also, it's a disability issue. because even if its the man dying for the woman, even if you change up the genders or make it anything besides what it is, its always an outside perspective. its always the healthy mourning the sick. even fucking when the pov is from the person who is dying i rarely see anything that isnt focused on the other people around them. we are not allowed! to mourn ourselves!!!! because we're always a tragedy for someone else!!!!! that's all we fucking are!!!!!!!!

this shit pisses me off so much because these kinds of stories almost always assume that the reader is healthy. the reader is normal. its like... maybe this is a bad comparison, but this is like the male gaze. the abled gaze. we are always framed in stories from the perspective of someone who is healthy and fine. the story just assumes the viewer is like them. these stories aren't for us. they're never for us.

"wouldn't it be fucked up if someone had a timer over their head counting down to their death" wow that would be fucked up! hey have you ever talked to a terminally ill person just wondering. just wanna make sure you are aware this exists in real life with real people. wanna make sure you know that before you write about how tragic it is that theres a person thats dying that isn't you why would it be you. anyways,

I saw in several fanfics All for one having had other biological children before, but Izuku being the first one he cares about, I don't think there is any possibility of him having other children, but as an imaginative exercise what do you think of this idea?

Not much and I think its very unlikely. I dont think that during the dawn of quirks and the following hundred years after afo had any time or interest in fathering a child or even starting a family. He was to busy builtding his empire and killing his enemies.

The chance for him to settle down and start a family 16 years ago is only due to the fact that the world isnt in chaos anymore after quirks appeared. Life on earth is normal again (as far as normal as a world full of superhumans can be). There is order, society and its people are under strict control. At this point afo has fully built an working criminal underground empire he rules over. He doesnt have to fight for his life on a daily basis any longer. The ONLY thorn in his side is all might and even he couldnt do anything against afo for several years till he was strong enough and had to hide in america during that time. Its a time afo can REST. He is the most powerful man of japan with the most influence and has connections and allies all around the world. He doesnt have to do the "dirty work" himself, because he has hundreds of followers and servants who gladly do it for him instead. He can lean back, he can relax. Something like that wasnt possible a hundred years before, because people were activley trying to kill him, while now (before his existence was revealed in kamino) he is nothing but a myth on the internet.

And most importantly I dont think that izuku was planned either. Afo didnt plan to start a family, it just... happend. It could be the inko shimura theory, or curiosity in a quirk marriage and setting his eyes on inko. But I dont think he actually planned to start a family. He just startet to enjoy that kind of life, maybe even fell in love.

Afo is to obssessed with the idea of "family" (his focus on destroying the family life of others, giving parents like endeavor and nana shit for either abusing or leaving their children behind for their ideals and his own possessivness over his brother) to not want his own family around if he has one. "Family" is one of the only things afo takes serious, even if its just about destroying them. So no I dont think he has ever fathered an other child and it wouldnt matter to the story anyway. What would be the point of introducing izukus halfsiblings in the story at that point? Espicially if a few dotzen of them lived a century ago and are already dead?

But I have nothing against people exploring that concept in fanfictions, I just dont think its the case. My personal headcanon is that afo actually believed for over hundred years that he is impotent because of his real age and almost died of an heart attack when inko told him the happy news or he was in such denial that he thought for a moment that inko cheated on him 🤣

BAN/ZHIVAGO ARC😭😭😭 a few observations: Ban is very clearly influenced by Zhivago’s style, like the clothes are so similar, the fact that they sent Ban to Aberdeen prison and his favorite is Aberdeen ale makes me think he associates it with his dad, Zhivago was hot, Ban mirrors Zhivago’s words to him to Elaine, Zhivago tells Ban to never trust humans and the only humans he ends up trusting are Escanor and Jericho, zhivago has lived in misery about the deaths of his children for almost 40 years :(

Hunger games

My sister when she was a teen watched and loved the hunger games movies, and now that the new movie has come out, she got the dvds and we watched them so i could watch the new one with her

And let me say THIS WORLD IS SO GOOD :00

I really like these movies, its so intense throughout the four movies

Anyways today we went and watched the new one in the cinema

AND ITS SO GOODDDDDDDD

(I dunno if im gonna say spoilers, im just ramblin as i go along)

This one is so much more gritty and brutal and just depressing. Its so so interesting seeing how the hunger games were back then. Its my favorite thing to see how things were completely different rather than in some stories where things would be the exact same for hubdreds of years.

This feels more realistic, i love how we can see the difference, its my favorite thing in anything, movies or real life things to see that it was so drastically different to how we know it now. Its so cool. The old hunger games really makes you feel how horrible this thing is as there is no traps or environment to distract from what it really is. Its so sad i teared up a few times in the cinema.

Man i wanna be an actor so so bad these fuys were amazing!! I loved their performance, i wanna do it!!! As a drama student its like, my dream to be in something big thats so cool.

Again, everything felt just so much more gritty and dirty litterally and metephorically. Its brutal seeing how each tribute died and how each mentor reacted and to see how unphased the presenter was. To see that one kid gather all the bodies and cover them with the flag.

And that one tiny kid, who was confused by the snakes. I refuse to believe she was 12, was the age lower back then????

Every kill that Snow did, it just felt digusting and haunting, his actor was also so so good at conveying everything (all of them were but...)

I thought it was gonna end somewhere after the game but then act 3 happened and boy that was something.

Its so interesting to see the peacekeepers and what happens with them even though it isnt much. its so cool to see where the hanging tree in the song is from and how each line corresponds to something in the film. When the one guy and Snow's friend get executed its haunting hearing the mockingjays screaming above them.

When Snow and Lucy Grey are excaping it was terrifying. I was scared in that whole bit, especially when he found the gun

Ooooohohohhhh watching the bit where he shoots at the jays is a cool experience in the cinema.

We hear the song far away from the back, and then to our left, and our right. And the sound is done so that we hear it from the direction Snow is turning to face. Its so cool to feel that yourself. Me and my sister just looked at eachother when we realised what the sound was doing and it was so cool!

I was also terrified in everything in that bit it was scary watching him shoot and the mocking jays. Everything at the end seeing him become more and more just... corrupt? At the end siding with that woman... its just OUGHHHHHHH AAAAAA

THIS WAS SUCH A GOOD MOVIE

This and the first movies/books are such a good look at society and morals and i didn't mention it because im not good at talking about this stuff but its so interesting to delve into

Also this series and especially this one does such a great job and showing each character's fear of dying and how terrifying the thought is but also the feeling of killing something else. You somehow feel how tough it is because it is communicated so well through the acting and no doupt the book's writing

Its just so well done

hello hello... well first do not be sorry at all i love it when the responses are as long as possible >:) its really my favourite part of having the quiz.. i always go through and read what people put there

the other thing is im glad that you got one that was new to you... you often get people wanting to get whichever album is their favourite but my goal was to introduce people to lesser known areas of his discography.. so i am glad this has been achieved...

recent songs was one of the last ones i got into but when i finally did i was very into it.. listening just to recent songs for about a month basically and i still really like it now... the traitor was the first one i got really into and probably still my favourite song on there now though there are many great ones.. so i hope you dont hate it....

now with famous blue raincoat... so this is a question ive been hounding people with for years and the quiz was a great opportunity to spread my net much more widely... the real question i originally wanted to ask people all those years ago was "do you think famous blue raincoat is about a man or a woman" but that was too much of a leading question

i also went through a phase a few years ago of reading every article or review or biography relating to leonard cohen i could get my hands on in existence...

i even used to read through every single tweet mentioning "leonard cohen" every morning... nothing could get away from me... if you ever tweeted about leonard cohen in 2020-21 i guarantee saw it (this isnt possible now because they changed how searches work to also include alternate names.. so when you search his name tweets including his monk name "jikan" also come up so now its just flooded with anime 😕)

so anyway... the thing that i found both in my years of interrogation and in reading everything i could find was that not only was there a mixture of people referring to the famous blue raincoat wearer as a man or as a woman, but every time the stories people seemed to be envisioning were extremely vivid but also very drastically different, and not only that but theyre always presented very matter of factly.. theres often very little confusion... eg ive never encountered anyone confused about whether the song is about a man or a woman

it just fascinates me so much that theres a song which in itself is pretty vague but it induces such vivid and intricate images for people which are then also so completely different... its actually a song that leonard cohen said we wasnt satisfied with because he left it too unclear but i think thats exactly what i love about it

so the story that it inspires for me... the very first few times i heard it where i didnt pay much attention i always assumed it was just a usual hetero love song about a woman but then as i listened more i started to imagine the story as the narrator and his wife and then this mysterious woman who the narrator was originally the one to have brought into the situation but then she ended up having a much deeper and exciting and interesting relationship with jane instead... though i do also really enjoy the ambiguous male friend story too

Guardian, sure. But it would be a long while until she calls either you or itward a parent. The death of her parents is just all too fresh for her, and honestly she needs time to properly grieve and to come to terms with all the information she gained by the end of chapter 5

I like to headcannon that Fran grows up in Ithersta, so until KMG disproves that..!

A child in Ithersts mentions a school. While we don't see it in game, imma take that kids word for it. So fran goes to that school! As well as this I think itward home schools Fran, or at least teaches her some stuff that likely wouldn't be covered in the school!

here she is for reference! quick summary of her since thie is her first appearance on my blog: set in the stalker 1979 universe, shes the daughter of a miserable little stalker that RLLY wanted a son to continue his legacy and kinda lost it when his wife died giving birth to her. he took on an unadvisable increase of stalking jobs to cope and brought her, a CHILD, along with him all the time. the only real connection she had with him was when he would show her all the pretty irradiated sights, but even then he wasnt paying much attention to her. she didnt do much public schooling bc her mutation- rapid growth/aging -ostracized her from other kids, and her father didnt bother anyways. this combined with a very detatched father caused her to grow up with all kinds of stunted social issues. u know ur kids fucked up when her deepest personal connection is with the indifferent concept of hubris or whatever. anyways pops dies a bit into her late teenagehood/early adulthood (probably during a stalking trip. if she witnessed it, she'd be unphased. zone happens.) and she continues stalking bc what else is she gonna do ? its all she knows. shes in her early twenties for the part of her story i wanna cover, despite her mutation making her appear quite a bit older. my goal with her is to explore misogyny in the stalker universe & profession bc gaahh that movie is so cool i wanna expand on it !!

1. What’s the lie your character says most often?

"I'm x years old" (usually claims to be in her late 40s but she can never bother to keep a consistant lie. its not like she sees her clients again after the mission anyways. ) this one's pretty easy for her because of her mutation, no one that isnt trying to flatter her is gonna catch her on her age.

2. How loosely or strictly do they use the word ‘friend’?

very strictly. the only person she calls her friend is her Very Close Female Friend (aka lover) and occasionally the bartender of the local stalker rendezvous on a good day.

3. How often do they show their genuine emotions to others versus just the audience knowing?

shes very closed off, usually only bothering to HAVE emotions in private. no big emotions outbursts like the titular stalker from the movie stalker, just internal dwelling and some canon typical out-loud philosophizing. as the audience, it would be pretty easy to pick up on her tells after a while but shes not in any rush to externalize her feelings.

4. What’s a hobby they used to have that they miss?

her childhood didnt have much room for hobbies, but she probably misses being the one guided through the zone instead of having to do the work herself. she loves the zone and its ever-changing mood but it still gets boring after having to listen to the 20th bald man bitch about his wife or whatever hes seeking out the room for.

43. What do they commonly misinterpret because of their own upbringing / environment / biases? How do they respond when realizing the misunderstanding?

literally everything. shes so disconnected from the average persons upbringing that she usually doesn't bother comparing hers when its brought up. She does, however, get defensive when someone says the zone makes them uneasy. practically spending her whole life in and out of the zone, she doesnt understand how anyone couldnt love her as she does.

44. What language would be easiest for them to learn? Why?

she speaks russian already so the easiest languages for her to learn would probably be those thst also utilize the cyrillic alphabet? forgive me im chronically american & not a native russian speaker so I'll have to ask some of my slavic mutuals for more insight on this one when they wake up.

46. Are they a listener or a talker? If they’re a listener, what makes them talk? If they’re a talker, what makes them listen?

shes very much a listener, her entire job is to help depressed people seek hope. annoying takes make her talk, if she gets fed up enough with a client's pessimistic rambles she'll shoot back with her own philosophy of "shut up and let me work." pretty women also make her talk :]
