I meeeaan we’ve already established that Daigo is rgg’s little martyr for some reason they love to make him suffer so that’s close to religious lmao

Also religious symbolism slides nicely into minedai agenda with how Mine revered him; almost like a deity and a sinner dynamic. A thing to explore for sure

Plus rgg technically showed us recently that they can use religious symbolism with how they literally spoiled a surprise antagonist in IW with that Last Supper graphic. gj rgg

for sure rgg was a lot more intentional with their religious parallels with Y8 like absolutely intentionally this time

religions fun in that theres A Lot Of It and so theres a lot of symbols and allegories and metaphors to reference, so you can always build upon it so long as you know what youre looking for

Always loved that his necklace is a damn cross because it seems like an intentional contrast, since Daigo is so Buddhism themed (tattoo and name, that counts as “so” in my books) yet wears a cross that is mostly associated with Christianity.

But once again sceptical if rgg meant anything by it or I’m just looking into it too hard

Over analyzing is a full time job

if the people behind evangelion are to go off of i think they just thought daigo'd look cool with a cross necklace

rggo story and the beta version of jima return in 8 made it kinda canon that daigo still has/wears his puffer.... I miss it so much.... daigo puffer come back to us !!!!!

when i think of daigo with his old puffer all i can think of is that robot from Weenie Hut Jr. from spongebob being all 'you cant hide whats inside' @ daigo

If it were up to me I would put anything rggo related into New Game+ (like additional cutscenes or even just memoirs or sth idk); that way any new player going into the story blind would get the same experience of Mine’s motivations being very unclear until the very end AND NG+ would be more rewarding with discovering the background of their relationship. Especially when most players wouldn’t ever bother reaching for rggo, even just the translations.

memoirs in rgg just make me think of the ansem/xehanort reports from the kingdom hearts series vjealkvjaekrlj

gotta collect mine's web diary entries....

if they were going to add extra scenes, it's not outlandish to think they'd be about mine at the very least (not sure what else they'd be about unless it was more orphanage scenes)- but i also don't see a need to do so, or seeing so done without redoing the execution of mine's character and steady reveal of motivations in the process

#snap chats #if we had to add mine-focused scenes though then i can also try to make a case for mine buying into the okinawa deal with hamizaki #we already saw from base y3 that mine was edgy about kiryu and he valued daigo before the finale #so seeing that wouldnt be the most Where Is This Coming From angle without being too obvious. In My Opinion #not the WHOLE story obvi just a bit or two referencing/adapting it #idkidk obviously we wont get that BUT. fun to think about tho !#very improbable we'll get anything at all like the nishiki scenes but it's fun to ponder and try to think of how it could happen

the things id do for the kirins dream to be put into kiwami 3… that rggo story literally makes everything about the events of y3 so much sadder. Even the one with the taxi company stuff cause you can tell mine and daigo clicked so fast on their first hangout they were laughing and talking for 2 hours straight

i got big love for the rggo stories ..... unsurprisingly ....

it'd be neat if rgg could somehow integrate aspects of rggo into yk3, but if we're being tbh it's unlikely it'll happen. always a nice thought tho ..

i rewatched and looks like he has tears in his eyes here i can’t tell if it’s lighting tho

it's probably lighting

for reference, the tears in rikiya's death give off a notable lighting/shadow difference. when watching the scene itself you can see the tears jitter and light shift too

it's not just the lighting that could lead to interpreting daigo crying, but his eyes are opened more wide in this shot compared to how they look naturally, making the sliver of sclera below his irises look like tears in conjunction with Y3/Y4.DS's shiny eye models.

his eyes go back to their typical shape a moment later when we see joji start to roll in

best flavor of directly-post-end daigo is considering that many people after waking up from a coma report still feeling being in a dream-like state

so imagine him going to sleep after all that and waking up initially thinking everything was a nightmare only to be hit with the realization that the actual nightmare is being awake

and he had to be dropped the news that kashiwagi died as well :)

and kiryu got stabbed :))

ye that was some bad, horrible, no-good, actually the worst times like i’d rather slip back into the coma thank you very much

Genuinely daigos no good very bad week and he wasnt even conscious for most of it

I just noticed daigo has tears in his eyes after mine jumps in y3 if you look closely you can see them when his face is literally 😨

Daigo definitely cried himself to sleep later that night but in the moment i think hes too shocked to be crying. I think whats being interpreted as tears is lighting
