Luke hoped he sounded convincing enough, despite the little ember of doubt that forever burned at the back of his mind. The Sith died with the Emperor and Luke's father, but Luke could not shake the sinking, sick feeling that darkness lurked in the shadows of the galaxy that they could not yet see.
He shook his head sharply to clear it.
It wasn't a Sith, he told himself. The Sith are gone.

Here’s the second part of my dinluke playlist filled with all my favorite dinluke songs and cultivated specifically to get you down in your dinluke feels. Link to part 1 here

This is for Din. I’m reminded of the fic “His Beacon, His Harbor” on ao3 by annathaema (moony). It is one of my favorites and I love the quote in the story description of “the mandalorian becomes Din Djarin. Din Djarin becomes. (Luke helps).” This song paints the picture of not only falling in love with someone that might not be attainable, but also grappling with a creed he’s upheld his whole life, and if he can still be a mandalorian even though he’s removed his helmet. “Losing your religion” means that your faith was tested to such a degree that you might lose your religion. Din wants those he loves most to see his face. He’s losing his religion. Can also be applied to Luke falling in love with
Both Luke and Din have, not only messy pasts, but messy clouded futures and almost impossible expectations placed on them. I like the idea of them coming together and leaving everything else out of it. In the midst of the chaos of their lives they find peace and solace in each other and can just “kiss like real people do”.
This song is oh so cozy and soft it feels like you could wrap it around yourself and stay warm forever. Luke and Din have both suffered so much. They’ve lost so much, and have had to endure so much. I just think they both deserve a soft place to land. I can just see them finding a home in each other and making it something full of light, love, and hope. They can patch up and smooth over each other’s cracks and realize they’re not as broken as they believed. “What makes a house a home” is the love they have for each other that overcomes all odds and finally gives them a place to rest.
This song is the perfect sequel to “losing my religion”. It’s a happy conclusion to Luke and Din struggling to sort through their own respective religions and find a way to come together. They can find peace with their code/creed while also finding new purpose, faith, and meaning in each other and their relationship.
Do I even need to explain this one lol. This is very silly but Din wants to kiss Grogu’s teacher it had to be added.
This is the last one. I wanted to end on a very soft and hopeful note. I see this from Din’s pov. I can see him becoming a great king, but his duties pull him away from Luke’s academy and the little family he’s made for himself. But he’s not worried. For the first time in a long time he has a home. Somewhere he belongs. Somewhere that’s his. Somewhere that will never disappear or go away. Somewhere constant. He knows Luke and Grogu are here to stay. Are as steady and steadfast as his beskar. No matter how far away he goes, he’ll always get to joyfully make his way back home to his family.

Din wishes that he was the Jedi. He wishes he could pour himself into the Jedi and live his life with Grogu. He can't stop thinking about the Jedi.

🤷 What thing that your fandom loves do you just not “get”?
there are so many. so, so many. pack mom stiles and intrusive, overprotective, weirdly involved laura hale are two that jump right to mind for the teen wolf fandom.
in an overarching way: mates. i do not get that. for me, the magic is in two people choosing each other, not having any guarantees as to fate or destiny or the future, because knowing is what? that’s nothing, that’s abdicating free will and hard choices and the little moments that stack together to make bonds unbreakable. i’m a puzzle pieces person, things not fitting, having to rethink and restrategize, knowing there’s a connection but not always confident in it, filling up more and more of the corners and edges and building on what’s already there to make something cohere, something that was once separate and now clearly goes together. soulmates is big picture, it’s cheating, the work that needs to be done doesn’t get done because, hey, we already know the outcome. they’re usually, ‘i know it’s supposed to be yOU but hOW can it be you’ type fics and while i get the fun of that, i do (and i get that same type of fun from fake dating/pretend relationship fics without free will going bye-bye), i hate that the catalyst isn’t the characters but this outside force going: if you follow the steps, you will get the reward. and, like, i don’t want… ikea furniture from my fanfiction? i want this impossible, unbalanced, unpredictable disaster of a contraption where you’re not really sure what its function is or how long it will stay standing because you’re never really quite done with it but, at the end of the day, everyone’s really proud to stand next to it and say: we made that, all on our own and, yeah, maybe it won’t stand the test of time but fuck if it doesn’t mean something to us. i TOTALLY GET why that is not everyone’s thing but that is very much my thing. i also don’t like the fulcrum on which soulmate-y universes rest, that idea that you are incomplete on your own. you need this other thing to make you whole.
because, hey, no. you’re already a whole, complete person living a life before anyone else bumbles into it.
also, a/b/o is like a rape-y version of all that to me. where now one of the characters for sure isn’t in their right mind but, hey, there’s this outside force: biological imperative to back ya.
not to say i haven’t read things with literally all of those in different fics and liked them (an a/b/o is literally one of my top ten in sterek fandom), but it’s something to overcome for me because at their basest components: i, personally, do not like them. i would also say they’re only things i don’t get because of their prevalence, not their existence.
