Looking back I didn't illustrate it super well- it was intended to be something less earthy, yes. Not straight black though, It was supposed to be a really dark red. It seems black.? But anything it stains is stained red. And it was supposed to be rather thick compared to human blood.

I was thinking that no one else in the group other than Frisk remembers. But Jevil? He.. had some kind of reaction to it.
Like when the reset occurred, Jevil had this horrible spike of anxiety and he broke out in a cold sweat and shakes. But before he could even process what was wrong, Frisk swooped in and saved Seams life. Right after he was saved, the shaking and sweating began to subside.. huh, strange..
(The second question was answered in the ask right above this one! :} )
In the comic that I was intending to draw- we would see little snip-bits of most everyone's reactions.
Jevil reacted how you'd expect.. he completely broke down. Screaming and wailing over Seams body..
Frisk froze at first, but then turned on her heel and sprinted into the woods in order to uh.. reset. No screaming, no panic. Just dead silent, sprinting into the woods..
Goner kid was freaking out so bad over Jevil screaming that when she saw Frisk run.. all she could think to do was run after her. So she did..
We don't see Grillby's face, but you can see his hand light up greenish/blue and his coat burst into flames as he realized Seam is dead..
River and Spamton weren't really meant to be seen on screen. But you can see Asgore physically become more misty/unstable when Jevil started screaming..
You know? Maybe for the sake of everyone it was better that I didn't end up drawing all that <XD 💔

As Freddy explains, he (and the others) had a "bug" in his system. Which made his eyes purple. (Although he wasn't aware that they were purple-)
And after he crashed on stage they reset his system. Wiping the "bug" from his programming. Turning his eyes blue again :0

You all sat at the dining table, silently munching on the food your mother had prepared. The sounds of utensils hitting against the plates echoed across the room.
Panic washed over you, you knew one of your family members would eventually make a comment about you.
Not today, please. You thought to yourself.
You tried to ease the intensity of your shaking hands, and avoided looking up. Akito, who sat beside you, caught onto how you’ve been acting. Ever since the two of you arrived at your family’s home, you were awfully quiet. He brushed it off since he thought it was just you nervous about him meeting your family, but still kept close attention to how you were.
“So, do tell how you managed to date someone so out of your league” your brother teased.
“Yeah, you’re so unorganized, and you look so pathetic when next to someone who clearly has their things set straight.” Your mother added on.
You dropped the utensil that was in your hand and just sat there, trembling helplessly knowing you couldn’t talk back to them, as you knew that would only result in them throwing more insults at you.
“Excuse you?” A voice announced, and you knew exactly who it was. You could tell just from his tone that he was furious.
“What? You don’t agree?” Your mother said with a cocky grin on her face.
“The hell is wrong with you?” Akito argued. His fist hit the table. You winced from the sudden bang that rattled the table, the plates and silverware clanging from the force serving as another ringing in your ear.
“I’d like to know if you’re better than them; if you’ve actually gone farther than they have in your life. Do you actually think you can achieve something from doing shit like this?
To your own damn child?”
Your mother stood in shock, still trying to register what he said while her grin faded.
“And you have the nerve to call them pathetic. So how ‘bout this, shut your mouth.” The boy added.
You felt a gentle tap on your shoulder,
“C’mon, let’s get out of here.”

You both left the gathering, and just walked together back to his home. Hand in hand, and with silence.
“Why didn’t you say something back to them?” He questioned, fury hinted in his words.
You didn’t respond. You simply just continued walking while staring at the ground.
Akito comes to a sudden halt. Which had caused you to pause as well.
“Answer me, please.” He added, while turning towards you.
At this point, he was desperate for a response. He didn’t understand why you didn’t defend yourself.
You couldn’t bring yourself to lock eyes with him. The swirling feeling of shame and embarrassment washed over you as you recalled the events that happened not too long ago. The stinging in your eyes warned you about the tears that had welled up, threatening to spill.
“I’m just scared, Akito” you muttered out, voice cracking.
“Why?”
“My family always liked ruining people’s view of me, throwing around things I've never said or done. I didn’t want you to fall for that.”
He couldn’t really figure out a way to respond. But nonetheless, he took some time for himself to recollect his thoughts.
“Look, you don’t seem like the kind of person to do any harm to other people. Even if you parents told me some bs like that, I wouldn't believe it.”
You smiled from the reassurance. Overwhelmed with your current emotions, you couldn’t help but cry, while embracing Akito in a hug.

Toya had been silently watching this argument go on for the past few minutes. Frustration with your mothers accusations slowly crept up on him. He figured the only way out of this was to just.. leave. He didn’t appreciate how cruel your mother was to you.
He rose from his chair, and held your hand with a gentle, yet firm grip. When you looked up towards him, he announced,
“I appreciate the gesture of inviting us over, but I think I've heard enough.

The setting sun illuminates toya's darkened room as you lay there within his arms; in a comfortable silence. It was peaceful and calm, much different from the situation that had happened before. You felt oddly drained from spending all your energy arguing with your mom so you drift in and out of sleep, clinging onto consciousness.
Toya had recognized your current state, and had thought it’d be best for you to stray into slumber. He wants you to forget the worries of your mother, and once you regain your energy, he will continue to remind you that he knows you're not what your mother accuses you about.
With a gentle smile he begins to hum a small tune that drifts throughout his room while stroking your hair in a loving manner.
Eventually, the boy heard your soft breathing, realizing you had finally fallen asleep.
“Sleep well, my love”

This situation with your mother occurs often, and you didn’t feel like going over this for the 100th time. You got up from your chair, and without a word, you left the dining room and eventually left the house.
Rui wasn’t very pleased with your mother’s cruel way of treating you.
“If you’ll excuse me, I'll be leaving now.”

The both of you walked back to Rui’s place, although your mind wandered elsewhere, disregarding the boy who eyed you concerned. Your grip on his hand tightens due to your tense state, but that was quickly broken when you felt his thumb tracing small circles on your hand as an act of comfort. You glanced at him to only be met with his soft smile.

what. what the fuck.
writing started off as an exploration; a hobby that i was just trying out. something new, to pass the time. but i feel like it has now evolved into an extension of my art. over time, my stories starting having more and more elements of the poetry-inspired commentary i like to have in the forefront of my paintings, or very simply the imagery i used to include in my poems themselves.
but that isn’t even the best part.

Making a list of my AUs cause why not
-“Where did the years go?”:
its a mutant apocalypse au, where before thebomb went off, Leo’s brothers ended up trapped in a whole different dimension fighting the kraang, after 5 months of trying to go back, they finally manage to do it, but when they arrive at the lair, its eerie and quite, at the dojo they hear footsteps and when they turn around they meet face to face with leo, who’s older, bigger, and vadtly different
what happened is that only 5 months to them were 13 years to leo, he lived throughthe mutagen bomb and spent his years fighting to survive in the apocalypse with Chloe who he managed to rescue from the apocalypse and metalhead who gained sentience after accidentally being mutated by chloe
now thats a change in the course of their lives thats honna need some getting used to
-“ghost karanas”:
inthis au the boys grew up missing a brother, mikey, donnie and raph, lost their older brother as children because of the kraang, they managed to catch him and he didn’t survive
fast forward karai shows up, after she finds out the truth about herfather and moves in with the turtles and splinter, her father gifts her with twin katanas,karanas that were meant for someone else, not anymore
the moment she wields them, something awakens, and it takes her a bit, but eventually she notices the little figure that has been following her around ever since she touched the weapons
the true wielder of said weapon, a little ghost, the ghost of a little turtle child
now shes on the oath on discovering who this child is, and what his relation to the hamato family is
which is going to be hard considering how everytime she brings that topic up its immediately shut down
-“wrong place, right time”:
after a fight with the kraang, the boys wind up dropped through a portal that transformsthem to a whole different dimension, a dimension that seems at war
after hiding and exploring, they notice a man, fighting some kind of creatures, but what they also notice is the robot above him about disintegrate him, leo leaps and pushes the man out of the way saving his life from the red laser that was about to strike him dead
one smoke bomb awayand now they miraculously ran away and found a place to hide
seeing the man closer, they notice that hes actually a mutanatturtle with twin katanas and a blue mask
hes Leo’s counterpart
looks like theirgonna do some patching upand waiting for him to awaken, cause they have a lot of questions
-“Sunset linings”:
a the last ronin and 2k12 tmnt crossover, the boys are dropped in the last ronin universe and try to navigate through it, after being spooked by a decapitated cyborg they tripped over they decided that hidingn the sewers is better than being exposed like this in a world they have no idea how it works
in their walk in the sewers they stop when they hear someone talk distantly
“QUITE, no more talking”
they follow the sound and stumble on a passed out turtle guy in the sewers, looking all grimy and emo, they immediately turn to look at leo, earning them “what!?l” from him
to mikey’s begging and puppy eyes they end up dragging the guy to help him (which results im ronin not meeting casey marie at that point)

aita for killing the person who murdered my family, and then killing my rich abusive adoptive father?
hi. im like, 19. or 20. i lost count. i dont care about gender, but i guess im male and use he/him. anyway. when i was around 10, there was a break and enter into my house. we were getting robbed. the robber killed my mom and dad, while i snuck into the kitchen do grab a kitchen knife. i stabbed him in the back and took his gun while he was stunned. i was scared to use it, so instead i just kept stabbing him until he stopped breathing. great childhood, i know.
anyway, after that, i was all alone. i didnt know where my brother went, and my parents were dead. we didnt really have an extensive family, so there were no funerals, and there was no one to take care of me. so for a while i just roamed the streets. some random guy saw me, and seeing a kid covered in blood probably isnt the most normal thing, so he ran up to ask if i was ok. he brought me to an orphanage, where i stayed for a while. eventually, my second "dad" (i dont even want to call him that. hes a disgrace compared to my real father, even calling him a parent feels disrespectful) came to the orphanage to adopt a kid. said kid was me. i was happy, cause id finally have a home again, and he was rich! i would be spoiled, and given a wonderful life for the trauma i had to go through.
i was wrong, though. the guy who adopted me was a prick. he was a rich scumbag who only thought about others if it meant he could say bad things about them. he was negligent, and would sometimes hit me. he got drunk all the time, and usually i was left alone in his huge house, only having the occasional housemaid to care for me. whenever i see pictures of the interiors of huge houses or mansions it gives me chills. anyway, after all this bullshit, i finally thought enough was enough. i still carried a few knives on me ever since the incident, in case something bad happened again. at night when no one except the two of us were in the house, i stabbed him in the heart while he was sleeping. i took all his money, and figured if worst comes to worst, i could pay my way out of being punished for murder. fortunately, that wasnt even necessary. when i called 911 pretending like i had no idea what happened, none of the officers even touched me. no one had a clue i had the weapon. it was eventually ruled down to a robber that got away, ironically enough.
after all this, i inherited all of his shit. all the money, the whole house, and all his stupid rich guy bullshit (think yachts, fancy cars). it was all mine. i turned the house into a housing unit, letting anyone who wanted to to live in it (like the homeless or people who needed to get away from an abusive household), given how huge it was. seriously, it felt like a palace in a disney movie. i sold all the shit he had that i didnt care about, or gave it away for free to others. i donate frequently to charity. i make sure i dont keep too much money for myself at a time, and i dont buy stupid things that i dont actually need. i dont want to become like him.
alright, so heres the final question. i know some people think murder is unacceptable, no matter how evil the victim is, that my parents may be watching me from the stars with hatred, and that rich peolle are assholes. but im trying my best to be a good person.
am i the asshole?

“a whole new character you invented” babe he’s in the show. you can read his name and backstory on the screen in front off your eyes right now. open netflix. pause during the indianapolis gazette scene. and read alllllll the details of edward that are completely different from henry. i didn’t just make them up. they are In The Show. It’s not even like, speculation. It’s literally written there word for word in front of our very eyes. It’s Right There.
As usual though, people like you can never be bothered to read even one of the 1526384848484 posts I’ve made regarding Edward and/or the multiple 001s we see during NINA (all of which can be easily accessed from my pinned post). It’s clear that you’re not actually interested in having a nuanced discussion about the topic because if you were interested in nuanced discussion about it, you would have read the posts, and it’d be pretty clear to you that Edward isn’t just someone that I made up. Like it or not, his name and backstory and family and details of how long he lived in Hawkins is written on screen in S4. He’s there.
And two things about this question a.) so what if i was going to continue stanning? what are you going to do, explode me with your mind??? and b.) this is a redundant question because he didn’t kill his own family to try to play god and punish them, the evidence (and if you’d actually read any of my creel murders posts before whining in my inbox you would know this) overwhelmingly supports the idea that Henry didn’t kill his family/the only member he MIGHT have killed is his mother, and based on what we learn about him and his mother, her death was very much deserved because his choice was “kill your mom who is trying to send you to live with a pedophile scientist for the rest of your life” or “live with a pedophile scientist for the rest of your life”.
How did he supposedly trance Victor and kill alice at the same time? Why don’t we see Alice’s death? If he was so dead-set on punishing them, why doesn’t he ever actually give any indication of what he was supposedly punishing Alice for?
And just an interesting sidenote re: the Creel murders, I was listening to an interview with Kevin L Johnson last night (who plays Young Victor), and he said that when filming the multiple versions of the murders, he overhead Sean Levy talking about how there was “one version where Henry wasnt the one killing Virginia and one where it seems like he might be the one doing it,” so neither of the scenes in the show were intended to definitively portray Henry as the murderer. And this wasn’t just something Kevin was told as a coverup or something, it was something that he overheard that he wasn’t supposed to overhear, and what they did tell him on the matter/why they were recording two different versions of the scene was “incase we try to go a different direction,” but then as we all found out, they DID use both scenes.
And I know I’ve talked before about how the main focus should be what’s in the show rather than interviews etc, but again, this interview/the talk of Henry not definitively being the murderer completely lines up with what I’ve already analyzed from the show & how it doesn’t make sense for Henry to be the one doing things & how Hawkins Lab was very likely watching the Creels/messing with them from day 1 at the house. Both of the scenes of Virginia’s death/the murders leave a LOT of room for doubt about Henry being the perpetrator- and it’s intentional!!!! Because he’s not!!!!
And who gives a fuck if I’m wrong???? Are the Stranger Things Police going to arrest me????? Should i throw myself off of a cliff dramatically??? What sort of answer are you fishing for here, anon?? I don’t know about you, but I’m more than capable of handling being wrong- I just don’t think that I’m wrong as of right now.

At first I was mixed about Lily's return but the more I think about the more it feels right.
Lily is cursed.
She is the woman in the comics that kills Lorie and her baby at the prison before snapping and killing the Governor.
She always follows people that in some twisted way remind her of her dad and in the end helps bring the end of whatever group she is apart of.
The Delta lost so many in Lily's attempt to get the kids all because of one she knew from so long ago. One from the first group she destroyed.
im gonna be honest when i say i ... really never understood all the hang ups people had about lily returning to fill the villain role for s4
like lily returning in s4 makes more sense to me than kenny returning in s2 im gonna be real with you all. lily was at worst left on the side of the road and at best had her own rv at least she wasnt left for dead in a walker infested alleyway. personally i was hoping for a christa return (because i dont want to admit she really died 💀 no body=no death) but lily made enough sense to me and i was excited by her reveal
clem knew lily at the beginning of the outbreak. before 8 years of it turned them into different people. clem isnt the scared little girl she used to be. shes grown up into an extremely capable fighter. and while lily at the beginning of the outbreak seemed like a tired woman trying to keep it together, but also felt the need to take charge and didnt like being questioned (who also cared too much about her awful father but we get more insight into that in s4), by s4 shes lost any shred of kindness she mightve had left. she was military before the outbreak and now given a position of power rules through fear and an iron fist (just like her father). but there are moments between her and clem where we can see just a Glimpse of that old lily ("we were family once..."). but all of that goes away once she realizes that clem is a genuine threat now. and lily recognizes that clem would be a perfect soldier if she can just break her the way she herself was broken so long ago. and if she cant break clem then she'll break aj instead
and then we have the lee element. lily is the Only other person left from that first group at the motel (she did not destroy that group btw ben did like cmon now and ben Keeps destroying it after lily isnt even around anymore). and while shes wrong to say she knew lee better than clem ever did, lee and lily (and kenny) were group leaders together while clem was eating her apple and coloring with chalk. like the adults were speaking. and depending on how you played s1 lee could have a decent relationship with lily. lily being able to sow those seeds of doubt in s4 clems head is just fun mind games
they have History. clem still wears the hair ties lily gave her all the way back in s1. she helped take care of clem for a time. looked out for her. and in a different universe clem Easily couldve ended up standing in minnies shoes instead
also in regards to the delta we Know they dont really want to be kidnapping kids to fight in a war that would probably kill most of them in the first 5 minutes. if they had the adults to be fighting instead they would be. it just shows us how dire the deltas situation really is. they were just expecting to find a bunch of kids for easy picking but clem turned them all into skilled enough fighters to successfully kill a few of them and raid their boat. clem is a big enough win that it doesnt even matter how skilled the rest of the kids are. plus lily was just leading the excursion. we dont know how high up the ladder she really was and how much power she really held. maybe she had something to prove back at the delta (my one real gripe is that we didnt get to actually See the delta. in my perfect world there were 5 episodes and ep 4 was about the delta 😔)
both lily and clem are just trying to save their communities. the difference is lily wants to uphold the status quo of fear and force and war, and clem is trying to build a safe community thats different from the many shes seen. she and the rest of the kids just want to carve out their own little safe haven in this dangerous and unforgiving world. they make a place truly worth fighting for
clem getting some form of closure with lily i feel might get to help her close the book so to speak on her history up until this point. clem has been fighting for so long... but she has a new home now. a new community. she can Chill a little bit. shes gonna grow into such an incredible leader 😭 (not that she isnt already 😭)

This is mean but I laughed out loud when Connor said Tim was the first person he talked about when he was figuring out being ace years ago. Lol. Lmao even. Tumblr really gaslit that poor writer into thinking Connor and Tim had an actual friendship with all their clamoring about him being with the wrong Bat huh. "Where were you?" GEE I didn't know you had to give daily updates to that one kid you teamed up a few times and had some friendly banter with. I love queer solidarity and the whole thing about us finding each other before we even know we're queer but. NO Connor would not have talks about his sexuality with Tim. Cmooooon you're telling me the first person he'd talk to about being ace wouldn't be Kyle "you can tell me if you're gay, Connor" Rayner?
At least that "this is just another thing me and Ollie don't have in common" anxiety is something already established. Like, that's basically the same thing he says to Roy when Roy takes him to that strip club even if it's an issue by Winick (do you ever stop to think about how unintentionally well laid out Connor being ace is and lose your mind a little bit?)
I'm just. Really sad about how Ollie and Connor's relationship is being presented to this new generation of readers. It's like we regressed to the time Ollie was dead, ya know? And I don't like Connor solely for his relationship with his dad, I want him to be a character on his own. But I can't help but being saddened by how he is losing his relationship with everyone that matters. For better or for worse, at least the new GA series is gonna have him interacting with his family (but what about Kyle, Eddie, Jansen and Moonday, ya know?)
The thing is that the story is good and I like its message. It just... Could be with any other character
im tempted to post this without an "answer" because its really well laid out and deserves to be a post on it's own. but i just rlly like ur points and want to interact with them so.
i think there were a few times between quiver and now where he interchangebly used dad and ollie but i get what you're saying, referring to him like hes estranged still was odd.
i totally agree, the idea of queer solidarity is important and should be shown, but i think this was a weird choice to go with. i think the most intimate (from my memory, i havent reread connor's run in a while) question connor ever asked tim was whether batman was his dad (at that time the answer was still no, as jack hadn't been killed yet). and that was only asked because connor was still his charmingly-awful-at-secret-identities-self. the part of their limited friendship that was interesting was the dynamic of new-sidekick-legacy meets new-main-legacy (for lack of a better descriptor), both struggling to uphold what they thought was expected of them. they never got to really advance from that stage of knowing each other to being at a place where they are friends out of costume, let alone discuss their SEXUALITIES.
i agree that the not being in common thing was a nice nod to past character complexities, though it felt slightly like it was the writer genuinely believing that to be true, and not just a rehash of connor's complicated feelings.
i know, its a weird stage we're at now, the resistence to fully accepting the connor that came from the end of his green arrow run, not just the beginning of it. by the end he had come to peace with being green arrow, and not being his father but that being okay. and that's not to say this is all the current writers fault (though williamson has done absolutely no favours with his writing), as winick and krul absolutely demolished any character connor had for their angst and whatever. (remember when connor aggressively yelled at mia for complaining about being stalked by zatanna without being told? or when after being turned into plastic and losing his memories he then decided he hated buddhism and oliver?). (not to mention the seperation from eddie jansen moonday kyle and. despite all of this complaining. tim cass and steph. winick set this precident and i will never forgive him)
i agree, it had good framework, and it couldve been a much more cohesive story if they. had just not used this friendship.

Well, we've spoken about how my SEx scenes are underrated in this fic because of Steferine but it's really fun to show the difference between the two of them and I think this might be one of my favourite SEx scenes I've written. nishiki thonkin tonight
spoilers for kiwami. some rggo stories. but maybe not accurate spoilers cause i feel my brain meltin. also warning for complete nonsense... and blood? anyways.
thinkin about how nishiki was like. so competent at what he did?? mans knew everythin about how the yakuza worked back in the 80s... U COULD TELL HE WAS WELL INFORMED OF EVERYTHING. he knew about the ugly parts. he knew about majima. and he was the one explaining to kiryu everything asgdhj like lets say. the consequences in their line of work.
fUNNY how it was cause of kiryu that he got into the yakuza in the first place. he totally just followed kiryu into it and said "ok well sOMEONE needs to know what we are doing" cause yea kiryu was just followin kazama like a lil puppy (and nishiki followin kiryu, tho he's more like a cat i think. maybe. nishikitty..........)
bUT ANYWAYS what i was getting at is. he's very competent. so. him snapping and getting to be one of the BIG patriarchs (GET TO THE TOP!) isn't really a surprise. OF COURSE that brings me to the other point...
HERES THE THING. in kiwami we don't really see much of this competence do we? (ignorin the writing of the first game for a second ok, wORKIN WITH WHAT WE HAVE OK)
first it's like hes barely there, then you have his subordinates just. making HUGE mistakes, not actually achievin -doin- anything or even just. NOT listening to him at all. like when they killed yumis "sister" or the whole. reina and shinji.
OK SO. everyones got their onions 🧅 on rggo stories. god i really gotta talk about reina and nishiki sometime cause i been thinkin about em a lot too. like reina liked him a LOT and i think nishki liked her too as a... sort of distant friend? does that make sense? idk what its called exactly. but yea i cant recall if they have ever interacted outside serena. (except from when they first met, another rggo story.. but that was like. a few minutes and then they were in serena lmao) it feels like a. 'i only interact with u when i come to this place' kinda deal. of course, goin there used to be constant until... not. nishiki totally distanced himself even more after the whole ordeal happened. and trust issues. but yea i think the most logical thing is that, the way he's been managing things for the last 10 years has been very different to what we see in kiwami. why else would his men resort to shoot first questions later. it's almos like that was the norm before... as if that's how things worked in the nishikiyama family all this time.

LIKE LOOK. the few rggo stories we have of the era between 1996 n 2005 show that he IS indeed very competent! and he has very good control of his fam! and we have the proof of it in kiwami as well, even if its more tell than show? kind of? The university of Massachusetts thing is really so vile cause i couldn't find a source for it yet ive seen it passed around and figured it must be from some source i couldnt be assed to dig up. X_X it isnt even from ANYTHING!!! (the fact it has the same name as some sorority in new york is funny though, at least theres something there even if its likely unintentional)
Anyway, a question: do you think they would have killed leon if he didn't become an agent? Now, I'm not talking about the re3 epilogue; i mean if they hadn't given him that ultimatum to begin with. To become an agent, or have he and Sherry killed. (Sorry if im getting details wrong here, but--) BASICALLY, i think sherry had to become an agent to escape house arrest. So do you think they would keep leon like that? He knew too much, just like Sherry. So if leon wasnt asked to become an agent, he'd basically be stuck or dead? Or is it just that Sherry is special because of the G-virus?
So, this touches on something that I have been thinking about for a very, very long time.
I legitimately don't understand why the CIA didn't kill Leon.
I don't know what about Leon made him so valuable in the eyes of the CIA -- especially Remake Leon, who has lasting fucking nerve damage, for fuck's sake.
Like... of course, with the gift of hindsight, he's the best investment the CIA has ever made. Leon is the gift that keeps on giving. The US would probably lose its status as a world superpower without him, in the RE universe -- and I'm not joking.
But at the time that he was captured? In that moment? Why not kill him? Especially since Sherry was way more valuable than he was, and it's not like they needed her willful cooperation in order to get at her blood like they wanted to. Leon is just a guy who knows too much, and he's on his way to bleeding out anyway; just shoot him. Just shoot him. Who is he to them?
Darkside Chronicles tries to explain it as, like... Leon's survival in Raccoon City gave him a particular skillset that the CIA wanted in their ranks, but... did it? Did it really?
Because, not for nothing, but Leon is the only one of the Raccoon City survivors to not make it out in one piece. He's the only one to end up with a debilitating injury like that -- and it was his injury that allowed the CIA to close in on him in the first place (if he hadn't been injured, he would've just left with Claire to find Chris), so like. Really, how valuable is he? He's the only one who got caught; everyone else got away.
This whole thing would've made way more sense if the writers had been smart enough to make it so that the people who survived Raccoon City only did so because they were naturally immune to the T & G-Viruses. Because, in that case -- yeah, Leon's fucking valuable. He's really fucking valuable.
But he's not immune... so... what the fuck.
The actual, real answer is "he's one of the main protagonists so the writers can't just let him get killed like that." But that's shitty and stupid, and they should've thought of a better reason for the CIA to want to hold onto him so badly, because the reason they used is kinda meeehhhh.
This is pure bullshit headcanon pulled out of my ass with no basis in reality, but -- the only way that my brain has been able to rationalize this happening the way that it happened was that Leon just fucking snapped when the CIA took Sherry from him and he just started swinging.
That boy's got a lot of anger pushed down inside of him, and he's had a real rough night, and having someone try to physically separate him from Sherry was just the last fucking straw. And, while they probably should've killed him in that moment, it did cause the higher-ups to stop and wonder how this shitkid with only basic police academy training and a half-crippled shoulder took out four fully-trained, seasoned, armed CIA agents before they were able to tackle his ass to the ground and restrain him.
That shows potential. That shows value. That's enough to make a motherfucker pause and go "I can use this, nerve damage or no."
But Capcom refuses to hire me, no matter how many good ideas I have.

speak, memory by vladimir nabokov — does this even count as nonfiction? it is autobiography but sometimes it feels so much like fiction. anyway, absolutely one of my favourite books, beautiful prose, made seeing the butterfly collection at the nabokov museum much more meaningful!!
the house of government by yuri slezkine — a history book but like if it was a tolstoy novel. what could possibly go wrong (many things) but it's just an excellent read. the crux of the argument, that the bolsheviks were a millenarian sect, is so compelling and i think about it all the time even after graduating lol. definitely changed a lot re: how i think of religion and secularism
the furies: violence and terror in the french and russian revolution by arno j. mayer — another one of those books that makes u question how analytically sound it is, but provides a thought-provoking framework for thinking about revolution (and the less often addressed force of "counter-revolution") & political violence
ghosts of my life by mark fisher — i don't know what there is to say about this lol. i read it during spring 2021, when the pandemic wasn't quite over and i still wasn't sure what i was going to do w my life after graduation. it put a lot of things that i had been feeling re: art, media, just my general sense of the (im)possible future into words
the last utopia by samuel moyn — similar to the above actually but within the realm of political frameworks/ideologies. i don't think i've used any work more than this one in my own (academic) writing). the general gist of it is re: the way that the desire for political utopias (e.g. communism) turned into a desire for moral utopias (namely, human rights in the western/US-centric sense of them)
the elusive republic: political economy in jeffersonian america by drew mccoy — i have a strange fondness for this one because tbh it was the first book that made me interested in a) US history b) political economy overall. before this i didn't understand what republicanism was at all, tbh
ludwig wittgenstein: the duty of genius by ray monk — intensely well researched biography of an interesting man and the only way i will ever understand anything wittgenstein ever wrote. so. thank u mr monk
financial missionaries to the world: the politics and culture of dollar diplomacy by emily rosenberg — similar to the mccoy book, one of the first books that made me interested in political economy and US history. also actually addresses gender & media, which makes it doubly interesting because hmm. gender has historically not been addressed very often in studies of economic history or political economy lol. not a lot of women writing in this field to begin with unfortunately. anyway, it's about international lending as a form of imperialism, to be very very general
designing dead souls: an anatomy of disorder in gogol by susanne fusso — just such a cool book tbh. i don't know of any other authors writing about 19th c russian literature from this lens (then again i don't read a lot of complit monographs), v much focused on themes of sexuality, death, gender, aesthetics, etc. not just in this book but in her other ones, too
