Would you consider doing a commission for a human character or would you prefer not to
Yeah, absolutely! I’m comfortably with drawing all sorts of characters, so if you had a character in mind I would love getting the chance to see them in my own style.

How’s it going! I wanna pick back up with some new fan art projects I’ve been working on over the past few months. Take a look at this one, an artistic liberty take on Kushala Daora from the Monster Hunter series.

Here’s that very smashing bird man, Kass, once again, I hope this picture can do him some justice to how awesome that original design is. I’ll always appreciate nintendo for the wonderful work they put into their games and characters, I love what they did with botw as a whole.
I can’t believe its been almost a year since I tried drawing him last, time really flies indeed.

Hey everyone, it’s been a little while, but I’ve played a colossal ton of Smash over the last month to try and build up some skill after having been away since Melee. Mewtwo is my go-to pick, even though at times I struggle to use his moves correctly, he’s still aesthetically pleasing to watch on screen.
I want to make more art for you all  regularly, so i’m going to try and see that happen this year, there should be increasing work of this nature planned for the future, and anything that people request to see. So please look forward to more, but for now, here’s my main pal, Mewtwo.

I love those glorious red dragon paintings I've come across in my lifetime, there’s something about their vibrancy that really draws me in, but I decided I wanted to paint a Knight, at the same time. I had a go at creating my own little spin on that character archetype, but it was also a good chance to render the dents and marks in a suit of armour. Here’s how that interpretation turned out.

Another shot at some character design, I was inspired to draw a big viking-esque personality and went for some vivid colours to make him feel proud and gentle (bar the big axe, ofcourse!). How do you think he turned out?

Finished my tribute to the Legiana from Monster Hunter World! I’ve sat on multiple ideas on how to draw this, but decided to throw it all into a portrait picture to help keep everything closely fitted together.
The Hunter is using an insect glaive, however I couldn't fit the kinsect into the composition without making things feel cluttered. I may come back one day to try this again, although with a different perspective, which could help to give this picture little more space. For now, i’m happy with the outcome and i’d love to share this with you. I hope you’re a fan of Legiana’s too, if not, then please look forward to more personal projects in the future.

Over the past week I’ve spent a large amount of time exploring a character who previously went unexplored in some of my older drawings. He’s an ambassador and rogue-like anarchist, with some strong ties to other players in the story. I chose a draconian-aesthetic for him to help him feel imposing and stoic, with some bold colours with which to stand out from the rest of his order.
Above I've tested out a handful of compositions for his overall design, mostly focusing on his colours and the way they mesh with clothing. So far I like them all in their own way, but I want to show these ideas to you and see what you think is the preferred look and feel for the character.
If you’d like to see how this character progresses in the future, come watch me on my twitter, where you’ll get to see the works progressing towards new illustration featuring this characters completed visual design, over on twitter.com/Lunar_Eyes. Thank you and see you in the next one!

And here’s the finished outcome! This was a great challenge to take and I feel like it has allowed me to break into new territory for my work to head towards. The biggest challenge likely stems from fighting the way in which I approach the rendering of shadows, and I hope that this has allowed me to improve the way  I handle the colours within different areas of light and dark.
I’ve also included a close-up of the character so you can have a look at my detailing. Please let me know if you liked it, or if you can provide some more critique to help me along my way; I value your input greatly. Thank you and see you in the next project!

Work in progress for a media experimental piece.
I’ve been interpreting my original style to remove lines and focus on colour and shapes. If you can provide me some feedback, I would greatly value it!
My main focus is to make sure the shading feels soft on the character, as i’m aiming for a relatively simplified level of detail but enough so that the character appears cleanly shaded and easy to read visually.

I had a shot at a fast-paced drawing challenge on a whim! I have been feeling a little on the slow side so I did a much needed speed sketch. The four sketches were completed in 2 hours, but it really opened my eyes as to how much I overthink the structure of my subject.
I’m thinking about opening up my own Twitter to help show my developmental side a little more. I don’t want to overload the feed with rough sketches and drawing exercises; so when I have it ready, i’ll have a link included on subsequent Tumblr posts. That’s all for now, have a good night, guys!

Here’s a gift for you amigos. As the excitement for the Spyro trilogy boiled over me, I felt a need to do this little study on my favourite purple dragon. He’s dashing and full of character, which I hope will be center-stage in the remakes.
I faced a lot of new challenges with this piece as my goal was to break some of my common conventions and broaden the way I paint digitally. Retaining a focal point is still a hurdle i’m aiming to overcome, since I wanted to convey the vivid palette of the video games whilst also ensuring Spyro stood out against it.Let me know if you can lend me some critique, I always enjoy being able to break down what I do and improve. Thank you, guys!

A big Thank You to all my Followers.
Thank you ever so much for all the wonderful activity revolving around my recent posts, especially the animated picture of my own little character. It’s been really uplifting to see all of the notes and re-blogs, I cant thank you enough for taking an interest in these projects of mine.
While I’m not an animator by craft, I have always wanted to explore and include that kind of media into what I do, and I hope that with a little guidance and direction, I’ll make a return to it again and improve on whats been made so far.
While we’re here, i’d love to get your opinion on a certain aspect of my blog going forward: my blog name! Lunar Eyes Illustration has been a staple of mine since graduation, but do you think it fits with the style of work on show? Or does it need to be something more imaginative, or even subtle? Anyway, if you have the chance, send me some feedback and i’ll take everyones opinions into mind. Thanks again, everyone!

Happy New Year everyone! The past couple weeks have been a crash course in animating for me, which was a much needed challenge on my working habits. Here is the result for one of my finished piece;, its a mixed media picture that leans more heavily on animated elements, but incorporates some illustrative techniques as well. For ages I have been wanting to see these characters be brought to life, so I took up the chance to learn about the animation medium and brought something out from that experience.
I’m still learning a lot of fundamentals as I draw to animate, but any critique I could receive for how this turned out is very welcome. I hope it will one day lead to something even more ambitious further down the line. Thank you!
