Hello, I've been thinking about your actors au. Are you doing anything about Rei and Mikio being the only side characters with faces in the first trial? Because I do have a theory about that which I haven't posted but I always thought that was really interesting. Even Yamanaka pointed it out in the first anniversary stream.
Ah, I definitely want to!! Mikio is the man in Harrow, right? (There's also maybe-Rumerie in Bring it On who drives me crazy to this day asdfsd) I'm hoping once the project ends and we get the bigger picture, I can really highlight their relationships more. I'll touch on some of my ideas real quick, but I'd love to hear your theory if you ever end up posting it 👀
My problem is, I originally thought the faces show the prisoners' love towards them, and not necessarily mutual relationship -- which causes some hiccups with including them as characters in the au... (Including t2 faces), Haruka hungers for his mother's love, but given her abuse, they couldn't in good conscience have her on set with him. Rumerie may have been some sort of friend, but he didn't seem so close that he'd be okay seeing Fuuta again and being implicated in his crime. Muu cares very deeply for Rei, but even if the murders never occurred, I can't picture a young girl would feel safe filming her own death at the hands of her bully... I ran into a similar issue with Mahiru and Kazui's partners, but as adults I felt like it was easier and safer for them to consent to the situation.
However! The fact that Kotoko's victim has a clear face really interests me, because that's the only one that (seemingly) has no established relationship or love between them. What could Muu's realtionship with her classmate have in common with Kotoko's and the victim she hunted down from a distance? So I'd love to compare with your thoughts and reevaluate my theory as the new mvs come out...

after mc gets the new robot companion, xavier grows a bit jealous of the perfect companion
A knock at the door was heard, before MC could open it her new companion robot she had nicknamed phel was already on it.
as soon as it opened the door, a confused xavier greeted it. he looked at the robot and the door number, double checking he hadn't knocked on a stranger's door. chuckling at the situation, MC quickly went to greet him.
"thank you phel, i got it"
phel nodded and walked away, leaving a frowning hunter at the door.
"i didn't know you were busy." xavier said, a hint of annoyance in his voice.
"oh no! thats just phel, the robot companion we had talked about. I got it a few days ago, guess i forgot to tell you. come in"
the two walked in to the living room, the taller one wearily looking at the robot doing something in the kitchen as he sat down.
"whyd you get one?"
"im always too tired to do household chores, thought itd be a good way to lift up some stress from my shoulders"
phel aproached the two with tea, pouring it onto two cups, adding sugar to one of them.
"just how you like it, MC"
"thank you phel!" she smiled at it as xavier added sweetner to his own drink. the robot bowed and left the pair alone.
"i dont like it."
"oh is the tea not to your liking? i think i have other types, i can ask phel to make another pot-"
"no. i dont like the robot."
"...why?"
"its off putting. you dont need it"
"hm... i think it looks pretty great. its customizable"
"so you designed it?"
"if by designing you mean i selected the short brown hair and blue eyes option then yeah. i think i did some other stuff to it but not much."
the comment had made xavier frown even more. MC sighed and put her cup down.
"okay this is clearly a bigger problem than phel just being off putting, do you wanna talk about it?"
"well... not in front of it" he mumbled. MC rolled her eyes and grabbed his hand. "Phel, we'll be in my room. Please dont enter unless an emergency has happened" the robot nodded and continued wiping the kitchen counter.
she dragged the sulking hunter and sat him on her bed, looking down at him she spoke "so, whats wrong?"
"is it your ideal type?"
"HUH?!"
"i mean you designed him to be what you like, right? if you want me to dye my hair thats fine-"
"woah hold on. are you jealous of it?"
xavier fell silent, fiddling with the string of his hoodie. MC sat down next to him, wrapping her arms around his waist and placing her chin on his shoulder.
"y'know i love you right? i could never replace you. much less with a robot."
"it can be here all the time, it can cook, entertain, comfort and other cool features the ad talked about..."
"yknow what it cant give me? it cant give me warmth during an over night mission. i cant feel its heartbeat rising because i did something cheeky. i cant see its gaze softening as it wakes up and realizes its me. it cant be xavier, and thats all i need."
the two stayed in their position as a soft silence filled the room, xavier placing a hand over hers and squeezing it.
"...i can learn how to cook"
"i- xavier you dont need to-" she said as she laughed.
"and im good at cleaning, ill help so get rid it"
she chuckled a bit more before placing a quick kiss on his lips. "ill return it tomorrow. and for the sake of our building, you can just buy me takeout."

the other thing i really wanted to mention about CotC in more detail, esp after watching new episodes, was the times the series tackles abusive family in a way thats heavily implied or straight up shown.
most obvious example of this was the episode "Scoutguest", where Craig allows Jason to come home after he says he lost his keys. What is actually most interesting about this episode is it focuses on how Craig is completely oblivious, and how Jason's home life shows his submissiveness in home environments.
The first example was Craig and Bernard fighting about chores, and Jason just goes and does the chores for him, stating he wanted to save them the argument. I'm sure many who can immediately find this familiar- the act of doing something good in order to stop your parents from yelling at you or others in the house. You just want it to stop. But Craig not knowing any better, uses this behavior to his benefit.
going through the episode, Craig's mom eventually calls the number shes given (which, we dont actually know was Jason's mom, and i think it probably wasnt- probably another source that knows jason's situation) and learns/understands whats up, and is kind to him as a guest. She doesnt tell Craig anything- he's a child, itd be hard to explain, and it may be invasive to Jason to explain it to Craig. regardless, she encourages Craig to be kind and when Craig hears Jason say somethings on his own he comes to realizing how different things are- and pieces together things. There is a lesson in realizing you should watch how you treat others, not presume about other's lives, and that some times someone seeking help may be doing so in a very discreet/not obvious way.
but (spoilers for newest episodes) i actually found this topic interesting to look at with Xavier. Xavier is a bully, hes mean. We learned that Xavier never had friends because he realized they just liked how he has cool stuff, and because of that, he just bullied people back, and felt that being King got him attention enough to feel good. hes a child, and Craig intervening right now is what he needs- Xavier can change. So onto my thought-
The episode where Xavier explaining his story made me uncomfortable. We havent seen much of his family life. Things we do know: his oldest brother Kennith is at college, his oldest sister Cheyenne is in highschool, an unnamed/presumed mother. Unclear about another parent.
I shouldn't assume what i don't know about Xavier (his parent situation, mainly) but its interesting that we see so little of his family outside of his siblings, because the show has been very good at showing us entire family dynamics (we saw parents for characters that hardly show up!). His family is rich, his brother is distant as he is in college, and so Xavier is basically around his sister all the time. Previously I think I just took as her as the moody highschooler who thinks her little bro is annoying. But, in episode 2 of season 5, we get his story (which again, notably, does not show anything of his parents) where he eventually shows how he wanted to get stronger to i guess, beat up Craig.
This is where i got uncomfy with the implications- his sister. Cheyenne works out, and the little we saw of her as the former queen did show she was also likely a bully, and i think it may be safe to say she is toxic and abusive towards Xavier as well tbh. Like, the way she start getting physical with him in that episode... getting angry, belittling him, hitting him. It made me anxious to see, feeling what is implied about her character. she does seem 'proud' of him improving but, i think its a situation of control (as she encourages in him too) and passed off like "tough love" when its actually really bad.
Xavier is 12 years old, we cannot and should not hate him like he is unredeemable. He turned into what he is for reasons a child likely would- be it the lack of people wanting to be his friend, or the implication that his older sibling pushed him around and bullied him herself. i did not really expect to see that in these new episodes honestly- it would have been easy to just say its how Xavier didnt make friends, but i think looking harder, you can again see how abuse affects kids, in ways that are very different but both bad.

Do you think yuyuyu is ableist?
sheesh, talk about a loaded question
definitely opens up a lot of rabbit holes. ill give my opinion, but note im not the most educated on the subject itself so giving a definite answer is outside my scope.
ill put a read below, but for me, i personally think it isnt, but can be easily misinterpreted as is on a surface level.
tldr, ableism is discrimination towards those with disabilities.
the character in question most of the time when it comes to these topics is tougou, who uses a wheelchair in season 1 due to losing function in her legs. there are never any distasteful jokes made about this, and the show constantly shows various handicap friendly services throughout the show. something even more surprising is that these are never the core focus of the scene or pointed out, its always well integrated into the world as if it were normal (important).
just skimming through s1, we have:
wheelchair assistance integration for both cars and stairs
special swim courses for the disabled, not separated from the rest of the class
beach wheelchairs and separate assistants
now while we can assume a lot of these were due to her previous service as washio sumi, i dont think that would really be fair to the production team putting these in, and it really feels like theres a lot more heart than "yeah we put these for the big shock value realization later on". even after regaining function in her legs near the end of the season, tougou's priority was always towards yuuna and her recovery.
onto the next topic, which is the show taking away and then returning these characters functions throughout. whats important to consider here is what is considered tragic, is it the characters living without these certain functions, or is it the act of losing these functions themselves?
"It'll definitely improve. I mean, we haven't done anything wrong." (Fuu, s1ep9) again, no distasteful jokes made about their disabilities, and fuu even plays it off with her sick eyepatch. her worries instead stem from the loss of itsuki's dream, in the form of her no longer being able to sing. thats the key factor here, being punished for doing what is right, losing the ability to do what you could do before, losing the memories of the time you spent with your friends. (thats another thing i see with a lot of these arguments, they always bring up physical disabilities, but ive never seen one actually talk about ones regarding memory, arguably the most precious thing to them). tougou flat out doesnt remember sonoko at all despite being comrades in arms before, and understandably freaks out that the same might happen with her and yuuna.
now, understandably, the ending to s1 seemed super rushed, and them getting their bodily functions back seemed rather sudden. this put a lot of people off, and was really only explained in s2, which many didnt watch.
people should be allowed to grieve if they lose something important to them, and should be allowed to be happy if they get it back. personally, i dont think people realize the weight of their words when they say, "oh i wish karin wouldve stayed deaf, itd be really cool to see the club members learning sign language for it" or "yuuna in a wheelchair was really cute, i wish we saw more of it." yeah its a cool idea i guess, maybe something to see while theyre stil recovering, but forever? in a chase to see more representation, i hope they realize what they are wishing onto others eventually (even if fictional). while many with disabilities are satisfied with their life, they should be able to wish for better if they wanted to, its not like theyd wish their circumstances on anyone else, right? shouldnt the same apply here, to the girls who've actually lived both with and without disabilities?
just my two cents, hope this wasnt too hard to read! theres a lot more i could write up, especially regarding sonoko, but thats a whole other discussion i should probably save for another time

Hi yeah its me again, sorry for the spam, not my fault you made cool and inspiring stuff. This time actually, i couldnt help myself and have made a short crackpodfic of an alternative universe which is basically 'AU where Mumbo is frolicking in the wild and Grian doesnt exist cause itd be too sad for him to do so, so hes gone.' —Hey hey. Yeah the traffic was better than usual, but there was more sand in on the trail today. I think it could be the Sahara desert dust that was supposed to get carried in with the wind. — Cub said, taking his backpack off and pulling out a rag to wipe his head off. No matter how many times he hikes through this trail it never gets much easier.
— Oh, Cub. The Sahara desert was blowing on Europe! And also it's the 80s and this specific situation you're referencing is gonna happen in late March of the year 2024! That's at least 35 years into the future!

A crazy comparison for a bear, but you know, human mind can do wonders! — Scar clapped at the last statement and closed his eyes smiling charmingly at his companion who was now drinking the rest of his water.. After a while, comfortable silence filled the watchtower as both of the men enjoyed eachothers company.
Jellie was now purring against scars leg and promptly jumped on his lap demanding more pets as Cub had finally spoken up
— Any new paintings done in the meantime? I don't recognise these two, are they new or recycled? — He asked, curiosity clear in his voice, lookin at the, indeed, two new paintings decorating the cabin. One of them depicting a landscape with a sunset. From where Cub was sitting, he could watch the same, now hidden under an overcast, mountains and trees. The other painting was of a group of three tufted titmice sitting on a branch. Cub took out his American bird field guy and read a couple of paragraphs to scar on what kind of bird has he drawn exactly. It's weird that he saw these birds cause apparently they don't live in that part of the US! Crazy.

In all the best ways you're taking me back to the crack fics I'd read on ff.net in 2013, it's great. Love the breaking the fourth wall abou the Sahara dust and the (assuming) European birds. You've got a certain hint of Douglas Adams flavoring happening with the switching to an "above" perspective for a moment to give a wry little fourth-wall comment.

sentimental tier: various favs across the years, theyre more individuals than species to me because of my memories with these guys.

scyther was my first partner in my first pokemon game :) it was diamond. i overtrained scyther way too much and he (because it was a boy scyther) would do that thing where he doesnt listen in battle so i build his entire moveset around it. he was lost when i transferred him to heartgold and then dropped heartgold in some water. rip scyther always in my heart
togekiss was my friend alongside scyther. she was the first pokemon i ever trained up to lv.100. she was also a victim of the heartgold incident. rip togekiss always in my heart.
absol was the only one from my initial gamebeating diamond team to survive the incident. she was transferred over to my copy of platinum and after i ended up losing diamond, remained there happily. i dont want to transfer her to bank or home because i think itd be like moving an old cat to a new house. i dont want to upset her at her old age. also absol's design fucks. emo fringe lynx. absol is what sparked my emotions about dark types. also i played pmd1 as a kid.
gengar is gengar. also i played pmd1 as a kid and read a copious amount of fanfic focused around pmd1 gengar (everyone go read pmd victory fire now it doesnt even matter that its on forever hiatus and ended with a cliffhanger go read it)
the tentacool variations are here purely out of sentimentality. when i was much younger, id let my little sister borrow my copies of the gen 4 pokemon games. she was really young and didnt really care about rpgs in general at the time, so shed always just explore and catch random pokemon instead of actually playing the games. one time, after i got the games back from her, i looked in my pc and saw like. two full boxes of tentacool and tentacruel that shed caught. and they've all got nose themed nicknames like "nosey" or "nosenose" and other stuff like that. so apparently she was surfing about and saw a tentacool for the first time and was just. obsessed with how they looked and thought they looked like big noses (with the red spots being like nostrils i think) and just decided to catch loads and loads of them because she liked them so much. so it became an inside joke between us. i dont really have much in common with my sister anymore and our relationship is pretty cold rn but pokemon is the one thing we still hold in common. and ill always associate tentacool with her.
we all know why grovyle is where he is. same with dusknoir. theyre also good designs.
i really dont like enamourus because its fucked up how they designed three big buff genie men and then made one that was pink and skinny. awful. makes me angry. if they were buff theyd be one of my favs tho.
i really dont like the pla designs for dialga and palkia... theyve already both got very busy designs and i think these forms are Too Busy. i really wanted to like them but well... i look at giratinas two forms and cry over what could have been.
i dont like the tumblr sexyman lizard.
a lot of pokemon are in higher tiers cus theyre based on animals i like... i like a lot of cat pokemon for this reason. also i like the litten line cus it fucks. and my litten in sumo was a female and i like the idea of big buff wrester catgirl :3 incineroar is a really good design and shes big and strong... whats not to love.
also, i generally like a lot of designs which other pokemon fans dislike... i especially love more humanoid/furry "feminine" designs like primarina, lilligant, gardevoir, lopunny, tsareena, etc etc... i really dislike how a lot of these designs are just seen as like sexygirl designs by the community... sadly porn will exist of everything but these pokemon are also creatures. theyre animals. they may look a bit like a girl but they are still magic animals. like one time in moon i had a whole team of grass girlies and it was just fun to hang out with my funny grass lady creatures.
i like giratina because theyre a big ass antimatter caterpillar. drawing giratina helped me draw antropomorphic caterpillars actually. i like their big ass legs.

the lunar duo are my ultimate fav pokemon forever as a team for a big mix of all the other reasons. partly its sentimentality, cus i really liked them as a kid and i would always chill on fullmoon island in my copy of platinum and just listen to the music, i also always tried to do the void glitch to get darkrai but i always fucked up and never quite saw her! (i couldnt do the event cus living in shitty rural region reasons) i also liked battling with them in oras :3 i think their designs are very well done. they remind me of the "swan" series by hilma af klimt specifically, which is a series i really liked on its own. i dont think that was intentional, but i was looking at the work about a year or so ago for an essay and i sorta realized how well the overall color palette of that series matches the pair and cresselia specifically, because shes based on a swan ofc. and ofc darkrai is also birdlike but in a more abstract way. she actually reminds me a bit of the skeletons of one of those really fucked up breed pigeons with the receeded necks and huge fantails and tiny beaks and weird spindly legs. i also really like how unabashedly edgy darkrai's design is... i feel a lot of nostalgia for edgy character designs from the mid 2000s which were edgy in a very un-selfaware way (another reason why i like absol specifically and also like. so many ghost and dark types) and as an angsty kid i always used to gravitate towards those designs lol. i also think its kinda romantic, the idea of a creature which kills others simply by being around them, a typhoid mary type creature, which isolates itself due to that, with its only friend also being the only creature that negates its negative affects. and also that creature killed a kid in america (fucked up). thats how i interpret their relationship. anyway ive been having lots of thoughts about them for like over 15 years.
this is unrelated but its kinda annoying when ppl use gendered pronouns for genderless pokemon... its not gonna ruin my days its just. funny lol (ignore that i have used she/her for darkrai throughout this entire comment... when i do it, its ok <3) one of the sad flaws of the pmd series imo bcus the mainline games dont do that at all.
in general i think my likes and dislikes are more dictated by character design/sentimentality as opposed to ability in battle or fanservice or competitive meta ... this is just part of being a longtime fan who doesnt rlly keep up with the community anymore methinks. im kinda beating myself up for not putting more complex thought into this buuut also i wanna be true to myself yknow... but then again this community sucks so i feel like im gonna be attacked for putting idk wingull too low or something lol

i know i talked about spoiling sensitive yan in bed before, but what about outside of it?
just taking them out on cute little dates, like a picnic in a secluded spot darling found. where they can watch the local wildlife and admire the local fauna while eating smth darling prepared
oooooor going to the aquarium! i’ve always loved the lighting in them. just look at sensitive yan being fascinated by the pretty fishies with an equally fascinated darling right next to them
maybe a museum? with all the cool artifacts and things you could do in there, all i can imagine is sensitive yan comparing their “pricelessness” to darling as darling is just having a good time lol. i feel like sensitive yan would still be entranced by the history videos, bc i get the feeling that they weren’t exactly… taught well in school
or what about just taking them out shopping? buying sensitive yan clothes that actually fit them and look good on them and just renovating their wardrobe bc when’s the last time they bought something for themselves?? same thing goes for skincare products and such
maybe just the classic restaurant date! picking a seat in some corner to sensitive yan doesn’t get too nervous being around so many people. just seeing sensitive yan get overwhelmed by all the options bc they don’t really get this much variety in food and look to darling for help is<33333333
or — this is cheesy but — stargazing. just laying down on a hill somewhere, sensitive yan cuddled up next to darling bc the night’s cold, watching them get all sleepy but try to stay awake to listen to Darling talk about the stars and constellations and yeah

maybe you head over to their place for the first time to help them move in (after their insistence that they could just leave their possessions there, you were kinda suspicious) and finding a thin, obviously thrown out before mattress on the floor, empty ramen containers everywhere, one fork, one spoon, a few knives, and tiny, miserable pile of dirty clothes and you just cant believe your yandere lived like this!! so its time to go shopping!
you pick a time of day where there wont be that many people and take them to the mall, holding their hand the entire time despite the fact it automatically turns them into a mess. you go into a clothes store first and pick out some clothes for them to try on! fashion montage!!! <333 and the more outfits they try on for you, the more overwhelmed they get until at the end theyre sniffling and quietly asking you for a private place to regroup. you could just find a bathroom and try to see if thatll ease them a bit but itd be better to buy the clothes and come back tomorrow (when they try to pay for it, you smack their hand away and they nearly moan in front of the poor cashier)
next montage is skincare! when they admit to only using a bar of soap to wash everything, you went ahead and just bought them their own products but every time you tried to suggest something other than the exact products you used, their lip would wobble and, well, you just cant say no to that face! even though their skin is completely different from yours lol. same thing happens with shower products! they wanna use what you use but eventually, you manage to coax them into trying different scents but the same brand (you smartly convince them that you wanna smell like a mix of them and yourself which leaves them trembling and desperate to get home)
and a restaurant date?? the poor thing is so nervous!! asking you what to wear, what to do, 'cant we just get takeout?', and when you finally get there, its perfect. low lighting, barely any people, quiet and you can just see your yandere relax. while you get a seat, they head to the bathroom real quick to calm down and YES, im going the direction you think im going.
you get your seat, the waiter sets down the menus and some asshat from the bar stumbles over and asks if 'a pretty thing like you' is dining alone. you try your best to get them to just fuck off and nothing seems to be working until your yandere appears seemingly out of no where and holds a knife to their throat, expression dark.
"if you dont leave right fucking now, i will rip you inside out and feed you to my rats." they hiss, knife digging into the strangers skin and cutting them just barely. the stranger wouldve picked a fight but yanderes hand on their shoulder was so strong and tight they could feel their bones grinding against each other so they just mumble something under their breath and leave, yandere glaring at them until theyre out of sight then sitting down, looking at you all teary.
"are you okay?? did they touch you?? if you want, i can go drag them outside right now and get rid of them for good!"
you shake your head and try to reassure them but cant help and wonder what theyre like when you arent around...

Chapter 1
Previous chapter
Summary: A case takes you to your hometown where you have the displeasure of running into a very shitty ex boyfriend. Dean doesn't seem to take this too well.
Warnings: cursing, violence, suggestions of domestic violence, suggestions of sexual assault
You were in your room reading a book when Dean knocked on your door and peaked his head in.
"We got a case."
"I'll start packing." You grinned.
You still mostly did cases on your own, but every now and again you and Dean would team up. You enjoyed spending time with him, he was funny and charming, though he could be a tad immature at times. And he was an excellent hunter, you two seemed to read each other's minds, working together seamlessly.
You'd been on the road for half an hour before you asked Dean the details of the case.
"Definitely a werewolf. Three people dead, all missing their hearts."
"Pretty cut and dry. Where exactly are we going?"
"Greer, Arizona."
You felt yourself tense. If you'd known that's where the case was you'd have never agreed to go.
Dean glanced at you, "Whats the deal?"
You bit your lip, it was a small town so there was no way you wouldn't run into people you knew. You could only hope he had moved on.
"That's uh-thats my hometown. So people will recognize me."
"That may make things a little more complicated but we can handle it. You might need a new badge though." He frowned.
"Not to worry, I have one with my real name on it. You never know when you'd need it."
"Smart girl."
You grinned. Dean had gotten more comfortable with you the last few months, hed even started using pet names with you. Itd been a little strange at first, but you didnt mind it. Actually, it seemed they'd all started to accept you as part of the family. It made you feel good, to have people who cared.
The two of you talked for awhile during the drive, you made the mistake of asking about that doctor TV show he loved so much. He went on and on about Dr. Sexy.
Soon enough you'd reached Greer, you looked out the window, familiar sights passing you. The memories were coming back.
Sneaking out into the woods at night with your friends, seeing who'd get scared first. Spending your Friday nights at the diner. You tried to push away the bad memories that kept trying to pop up, but it was hard to forget the things he'd done.
You pulled into the parking lot of one of the local cabin places. The town didn't really have a motel, so you'd have to rent a cabin. Dean approached the man at the front desk and you turned to browse some pamphlets by the front door.
"Checking in?" He asked, offering a smile.
"Ah no, we wanted to ask if there was a cabin we could have for a couple days." Dean answered.
"Oh I'm sorry we don't really do last minute reservations. Maybe try another place?"
You recognized that voice, you turned around.
"Jessie?"
"Holy shit, y/n. Is that really you?"
"Uh yeah. Wow it's been forever."
"No kidding. What? Eight, nine years now?"
"Yeah, how are you?"
"Its been...mixed. Mom's letting me run this place now. But uh, Des, Minnie, and Robin. Well...they were killed."
"Wait the deaths are them? Oh my god. Me and my partner are working that case right now. I had no idea."
"Partner? Case? You a fed now?"
"Yeah. FBI."
"Thats...wild. I knew you'd wind up doing something cool. You weren't suited to staying here in this tiny town."
You smiled, "It's mostly paperwork honestly. But I enjoy it."
"Well it's good to see you. Let me see what I can do for you."
"You're a lifesaver Jay."
"The only one available is a one bedroom. Everything is booked up, you know how it is this time of year."
"That's fine. We'll figure it out. Seriously, thank you."
"No problem. Let me know if I can help with anything. Oh, and Liz is working at the police station now so she'll probably be the one to talk to for the case."
"Sounds good. I'll see you later."
"Sure thing." He said, handing you to the key.
"You know where the Eagle Cabin is right?"
"Yup."
"Good luck then."
"Thanks!"
You and Dean made your way out to the car and back to the cabin, "Guess I'm glad I took you and not one of the others."
You chuckled, "Guess so."
The two of you made your way into the cabin, dropping your things on the kitchen table and then taking out your suits.
"Dibs on the bathroom!" You called behind you as you rushed into the bedroom and then into the bathroom.
"You little minx!" He shouted, but you could hear the grin in his voice.
A few minutes later the two of you were ready to go, on your way to the police station.
"Desmond Jones, Minnie Smith, and Robin Elward. All of them found dead, with their hearts ripped out."
Liz gave you a list of where the crime scenes were, as well as the addresses of the families and of the victims.
You and Dean interviewed the families, as well as Robin's roommate. None of them could really give you anything of use, except for Robin's roommate, Alyssa. She said something about them all falling out with Jessie, but she didn't know why.
"So, you think it's this Jessie guy?" Dean asked.
"I want to say no, he was such a sweet guy when we were younger. Kind and considerate. But being turned changes you, it's entirely possible he's a completely different person now."
You bit your lip, "It's getting late. Why don't we get some food and pick it up in the morning. We can interrogate Jessie and his girlfriend."
"Sounds like a plan."
The two of you returned to your cabin and changed back into your everyday clothes before heading to the diner.
At the diner you were recognized by a few of the staff and other patrons, chatting with them before sitting down at a booth.
"I remember their burgers being pretty good. Their country fried steak ain't too bad either."
"Both sound pretty good. I think I might get-"
"Hey y/n."
The voice made your stomach drop. You looked up, and there he was. Evan. The boyfriend you'd left behind when you'd ditched this town.
"I see you're back. You didn't come see me." His voice was cold, his eyes were blank.
"I uhm-"
"It was pretty bitchy of you to leave like you did."
"My parents had just died-"
"Do I look like I give a shit?"
You swallowed and stared down at your hands in your lap. Suddenly you were back to your 20 year old self, terrified and submissive.
Dean looked between the two of you.
"Who the hell are you?" He asked.
"I could ask you the same question. Are you her new boyfriend? You know she's not worth shit right?"
Dean's jaw clenched, "I think you need to walk away now."
"Or what?" Evan sneered.
Dean stood, getting right up into Evans personal space, "Or I'll take you outside and kick your ass so hard you'll wish you were dead."
Evan stared at him for a second before backing down, he turned to you.
"Watch yourself y/n. Wouldn't want something to happen to you." He hissed.
Once Evan was out the door Dean say back down and looked at you.
"Y/n who the hell was that?"
"My um-he was my boyfriend back when I still lived here."
"What'd he do to you?" His tone was hard.
"Nothing." You answered quickly. Too quickly.
"Bullshit it was nothing. You're shaking and I've never seen you so...scared. You can talk to me sweetheart."
He was right, you were shaking. Your anxiety had risen astronomically since Evan had shown up.
You looked about at Dean, you could see the concern in his eyes as he looked at you. You took a deep breath.
"He um. He got kind of physical when we fought or if I did something wrong. And...and he was um touchy."
"I'll kill him." Dean stood, ready to stalk out the door after Evan. You stood and grabbed his arm.
"No! Don't. Please. It was a long time ago."
"He still did it. And he should be punished."
"Dean." You pleaded, he turned to look at you, "Please."
He frowned, "Fine. But if he shows up again I'm beating his ass."
You sighed in relief as you both sat back down. Soon enough your waitress came by and you ordered.
You were fiddling with your straw wrapper while you waited, carefully avoiding eye contact with the man across from you. You were ashamed and embarrassed. You didn't want him to think of you as weak.
"Hey." Dean cleared his throat.
"I know you can take care of yourself, but if something like that ever happens again you tell me alright? I'll handle it."
You gave him a half-hearted smile and nodded. That seemed to be enough for him as he nodded and sat back in his seat.
When your food came you two were quiet at first, until Dean asked you about that movie you'd tried to get him to watch the other night.
It quickly pulled you out of your funk, telling him about the characters and how well written it was and how much you loved the costumes the actors wore.
Dean was relieved to see you smiling again, to see your eyes lit up. The you he'd seen when Evan approached you was a you he never wanted to see again.

back by unpopular demand, it's me(that deadman aether anon, that's just my name now i guess)! here to poke the newest chapter a few times until it gives me answers
imma just hit this right off the bat since the chapter just came out- a little crazy? A LITTLE?? man's taking after his 'father' more than he realizes, no wonder he is next in line to be 'king'.
seriously tho, the mental/emotional range lyney has this chapter is wild to me. he's so happy and giddy but even though that doesn't necessarily go away he flips a switch to serious mode when lynette questions him.
he's just?? constantly planning? like here he is, acting almost lovesick over thawed!reader but he keeps hyperfocused on any information she drops to store for later use. worrying over her using her old weapon from her time at the house? already planning on how to get her the perfect weapon as a gift and asks her about childe's methods. 'idle' conversation? instantly mentally notes what topics she is avoiding. she questions him about what the house is doing? i'd bet real money he noted that as well, not to mention wording his answer so that he didn't fully lie to her(after earlier mentioning that she would know if he was lying to her face??? lsafdkjfsa).
Like! Literally, his first words after their little spar date were “She’s hiding something”. sjklsflaljf, like yeah??! She is!!! About a lot of things my guy! Just wait until you get the full picture and not just the flawed info you got right now.
SPEAKING OF WHEN THAT LAST SCENE THO-
Behind Lyney, the moonlight scatters all over. It is a little hard to tell what face he’s making. “I’m doing this exactly because I’m trying not to drive her away.”
This. This snatched my focus. Lyney (and by extension the rest of the fauti trio) are playing chess while Aether and Thawed!Reader are playing checkers!

My thoughts on Laurence Zvhal
soft warning for aaron slander. im not really slandering him im just sharing my conspiracy theories. ALSO THIS BITCH IS LONGGGG AND THERES SO MUCH RAMBLIGN GOD HELP
god i love him so bad... thats the main thing i wanna get cleared up right the fuck away. i love him SOSO bad and i think jesson uses him completely inappropiately and im stealing him. okay? hes my oc now.
this is also a warning, i havent refreshed completely with my mcd knowledge and mystreet is more fresh in my mind so if i say something wrong about a plot point be nice to me im doing my best im a little guy with a dissociative disorder so i forget shit
aaalllrighty where the hell do i begin?
okay so first off, right off the bat: when he got back from the nether in mcd, he should've been blind. because
disability representation. blindness isnt something that can just be cured unless you get touched by jesus christ himself (im not religious but i think thats in the bible lol) and it something that impacts millions of people on the daily. exposing that to young kids can introduce them to the fact that not everybody is just like them and that people come in many different shapes and sizes. and it ofc helps anyone who happens to be blind have a chracter to relate to and project on.
do YOU KNOW HOW COOL IT WOULD BE FOR A BLIND KNIGHT? like fighting is a very visual skill for the most part you need to see your opponents sword to properly dodge it or you are good and truly fucked. so taking something integral to fighting and ripping it away gives another great chance for character development as well as some really sick ass scenes where laurence goes all toph and uses his senses that are now firing at all cylinders and kicks total ass
ANGST ANGST ANGST ANGST!! like. laurence is a very visual guy, right? he sees pretty ladies to flirt with, he's a knight, he cares about his looks. so now he has all of that pretty much ripped away from him in an instant. what the fuck is he supposed to do? he flounders. hes a shell of his former self, in a way. like hes still there, hes still alive, but is he even laurence anymore? its something he has to learn to embrace and come to terms with. the main cast could also be super encouraging for him and basically is like "hey dude youre still the same fuckin awesome guy and you can still do all these fucking awesome things you just gotta learn how to do it again"
itd make for some cool relationship building between him and garroth or him and zoey or him and aphmau or even like him and cadenza. it gives him external relationships outside of just aphmau's love interest
JESUS FUCK I YAPPED A LOT ABOUT LAURENCE BEING BLIND OKAY
i think giving laurence (in both mcd and mystreet) jealousy/possessiveness issues is lame and a total turn off. like its such a gross thing to tell to kids, no? like "hey kids if you love someone they are ENTITLED to love you back and they CANT be in love with someone else"
obviously this behavior is still shut down but still... like why include it? especially because, prior to him falling in love, he seemed to be just a completely chill dude who only gets angry if he needs to. but suddenly hes mass slaughtering people at weddings (mcd), stalking his love interest because he saw her talking with another guy (mystreet), giving aphmau the cold shoulder because she is either indecisive or loses interest in him (this goes in both series i believe)
like it just gives you such an ick and obviously i know why they did this. i will say this until the day they put me in the damn ground its because of motherfucking aaron becoming a love interest. i have zero issues with aaron as a character and i even like him as a character (i have redeemed myself. i used to hate him) but as a love interest i think hes the worst thing to happen to every series because he just simply destroys any male character who had the potential to be shipped with aphmau which was all of them
were moving to mystreet here because mystreet is the best and most glaring example of this because mystreet was after they had decided to make aarmau canon in mcd and you can tell because of the way they set up laurence and garroth.
lemme explain and yes i know this is deviating from strictly laurence a tad but stay with me
im not going to use pdh because pdh was written after mystreet based off of the fact that for some reason travis doesnt know aphmau???? despite them being best friends in pdh??? WHATEVER WHWATEVER NOT THE POINT OKAY. were also going to completely disregard the undercurrent of grooming for aarmau and were going to pretend like this relationship is normal and not at all weird. okay? okay.
so from the moment you first meet laurence and garroth, you can tell their vibes are off. theyre openly hostile with each other (even if its playful theyre still "competeing" for her), theyre trying to shove each other out of the way. it makes them seem unlikeable. every time theyre on screen theyre talking to her or about her (often times planning on stalking her or getting irrationally jealous because they heard something through the grapevine) and it just turns the viewer off. if youre a first time viewer without any preconcieved notions of these character you're thinking "wow thats creepy. why would she stay friends with them? why would she bother sticking around her if all they want is a relationship out of her and not a genuine friendship?"
and if you happened to watch mcd first youre thinking "wow is this how theyre really like? wow i dont like them at all anymore" and then you go to mcd and see their worst traits being ramped up and amplified to make them even more unlikable
and then you see aaron
in mcd hes a silent protector. hes always by aphmau's side. hes her one true loyal knight even when she does something he doesnt like. they understand eachother in ways that laurence and garroth just dont
in mystreet hes her guard dog. hes always there to step in when shes uncomfortable. hes her secret best friend her home away from home. he makes her feel loved in such a way that laurence garroth never could since theyve only ever cared about her superficially and not in any way that really, truly mattered
it makes the audience cling to him. it makes them think "well fuck why did the other guys even try hes obviously perfect for her" it blinds them of any other potential option because jesson just didnt give any other opportunity to shine through.
and thats fine. thats completely fine they can do whatever the hell they want to with their series because as one creative to another sometimes you just gotta make your bed and lie in it knowing that not every bitch out there is going to like every creative decision you make.
as a viewer it just.... it just makes you feel dissatisfied. leaves a bitter taste in your mouth, especially given the fact that in mcd you were basically told "these are your two options for love interests" and then a third love interest swoops in seemingly out of nowhere, gets her pregnant, and then he fucking dies.
in mystreet it just like... ugh. i dont know. i guess i feel happy for them because i can see their development. but like me personally i cant really feel shit for ms aarmau simply because of pdh and the FUCKING WEIRDNESS OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP
sorry this, once again, turned into a rant about how aaron's introduction as a love interest fucking ruined everything (my words, not anyone elses)
to sum up this long, long, long post my thoughts on laurence are as follows: i think hes written very poorly in mystreet and severely mishandled in mcd. i think that he had the potential to be very interesting in both series if used properly and he couldve had more intersting things happen to him in terms of the love interest department.
i think hes a character that gets the a lot of the character assassination tirade that jesson went on and i wish we got to see more of him but unfortunately we never will since you know his va left.
but most importantly:
hes my pookie wookie booboo bear and i love him so bad and im going to shake him and bite him and rip him to shred
well... i hope you got what you wanted. i have emptied all of my thoughts about laurence

we all know all doctors believe they are superior to all other doctors in every conceivable way, but if they had to pick just one quality they are stronger in than any other quality, which would it be
1: 1 thinks he's the sensible one, HE doesn't piss about in stupid costumes like his successors, HE takes himself and his travels seriously, HE doesn't go on stupid trips, it's very important he teaches his companions things and leaves whne it gets dangerous
he is wrong, being sensible is not a quality any doctor possesses in any capacity, hey doctor, remember the time you decided to impersonate a dead guy you found on the side of the road, literally just because you thought itd be fun
2: 2 thinks he's the most personable, the best at making friends, the others are all abrasive and obnoxious and it put the locals they meet off
he is wrong, every doctor both endears themselves to people or puts them off in roughly equal measure, his opinion is coloured by the fact doctors just can't get along
3: 3 thinks he's the biggest pacifist, he would only use violence when completely necessary, he wouldn't hurt a fly and always teaches his companions to prioritise kindness
3 is ridiculously wrong, he works for the army for goodness sake, nobody else does venusian akido at every opportunity
4: 4 thinks he's the smartest, not just among the doctors but among everyone in the entire universe, he's not got an ego, it's just obvious
he is wrong, other doctors have a lot more experience and knowledge to draw on, which is what 4 would consider being smart
5: 5 thinks he has the smallest ego, these other doctors are so full of themselves, not like him, he's so humble, he even listens to his companions sometimes
he might actually be right about this, well done him
6: (I've seen comparatively less of 6 so this could be off the mark but) 6 thinks he's the most pragmatic, he'll do what needs to be done other people's feelings and lives be damned
he is wrong, he is just a dick
7: 7 thinks he's the best at manipulating people, he can observe a situation and get exactly what he wants out of them, and they'll never know he's manipulating them
he's probably right, but do you know something he didn't observe, this isn't a good quality
8: (not into the EU so this is based off the TV movie and night of the Doctor) 8 thinks he's the one who can make the tough decisions when he has to, the other doctors have never had a decision as tough as him they would freeze in the face of serious trouble
so incredibly wrong, I mean really
9: 9 thinks he's the least cocky, he doesn't think he can win every time, the danger he faces is real and can get people killed if he's not careful
he's right about this, and all it took was the genocide of his entire planet
10: 10 thinks he has the moral high ground, he always makes the most ethical decision unlike the other doctors, he won the universe and now he gets to do whatever he wants, and what he wants is always what's best
10 is fucking stupid
11: like 4, 11 thinks he's the smartest, again, not. just. among the doctors but in the universe, but for. different reasons to 4, 11 thinks he's the best at solving puzzles and mysteries
very wrong, he only thinks this because he sees everything and a puzzle and a mystery for him to solve
12: like 5 12 thinks he's got the smallest ego, he knows he's just a mad man in a box trying his best and he shouldn't believe his own hype
he is wrong, being aware you have a massive ego isn't the same as not having one
13: 13 is like 2, she thinks she's the most personable, she doesn't go around implying she's better than everyone she meets because she isn't a dick
is she right? it's hard to say given she's much more focused on the nearest cool thing than the people she meets, but sure why not

this fic idea was basically born from discussions with my sweet @catofthecanals289 (so all the good ideas are probs hers) about how like, daniel would totally have 500 hair products, face creams & antiaging potions lining every surface of his and Max's bathroom, while max is like... a three-in-one hair and body wash kinda guy lol.
its like maybe daniel has been teased (mocked) by michael and previous girlfriends about it being 'girly' to have so many products, but when max sees for the first time and comments on it, he can see daniel get instantly cagey, pointing at his curly hair like, 'well i gotta, you know...' so max knows, instantly, that this is something daniel feels some kinda way about. so he asks, 'okay, well show me what they are for,' and then like, daniel teaches him how to wash daniels hair, how to put in the curl cream and twist them around his fingers so they form the nice curls on his forehead we all know and love. and then from that day every time daniel buys a new product, max asks what it does, where it fits into the steps. max could do daniels skin and hair routine blindfolded, while still only being a 'washing his face with water' kinda guy
its like how that progresses to max on his knees in the shower, shaving daniel's legs for him because daniel wants to wear short shorts in texas. carefully rubbing body butter onto him after, so he doesn't get any little razor bumps.
its like how max buys daniel a lip balm after he's complaining his lips are chapped after a race in the middle east, and it's tinted just a tiny bit pink and he thinks 'daniel will like this :)'. helping him put it on before bed, in their bathroom, telling daniel 'you look pretty,' standing behind him in the mirror and daniel quiet (shock) but smiling, happy.
its like how maybe max is cool with all that stuff, but when daniel says 'do you think itd be weird if i wore this to work out in, just on the balcony,' and shows him a netball skirt, max spirals a little. because he likes men, he's gay and- but he wants to give daniel what he wants, so he nods and says 'i think you should try it, if it will make you happy.' and then when it happens in front of his eyes, its just like. the hottest thing. he has to crawl between daniels legs once he's flopped down on the sofa, sweaty, after and put his face against his dick through the fabric of the skirt.
bonus; max buying daniel a lacy black bra with hot pink details after seeing him wear his black fireproofs all this weekend, to celebrate getting his best result of the season. taking him out to dinner and feeling insane to see the strap of it, just a little, peaking out from underneath his new ric3 merch shirt when he leans over to read the menu.

in the kindest timeline (new york ending), she will have to see him a smidgen more frequently bcuz much to her dismay, the carter kords dont scatter at the sight of her (although its more michelle and ted coming over) (and ted lowkey trying to avoid whenever caseys home) but she still has to look at his ugly mug on holiday cards ted sends to nell which makes her scowl still. but shes behaving. theres no risk of her trying to jump him again anymore (she probably thinks about it though)
...in the worst but also canon timeline she'll hold a horrible nasty violent grudge against the entire family. shes mad at booster all over again, she hates rip, she doesnt speak to michelle anymore but especially she HATESS ted. If anyone was unaware our dear sweet ladybug eventually steps on a landmine and fckn explodes as the canon end to her story (so says marty. i fought for her. i was toddler coughed on.) so the reason for her hatred for ted is that she thinks that he, as her former mentor, and one of nells closest friends, and also someone who LIVES IN A BUILDING WITH A TIME SPHERE shouldve ... DONE SOMETHING ABOUT THIS? Shes unaware that ted and Ripley actually had a nasty fight abt this exact thing but from her pov he just didnt even try to go back and save her. she holds this grudge forever but does nothing to act on it because she moves cities and never talks to anyone she knew again. I guess thats a good thing. She is known to resort to violence when thrown into the depths of hopelessness
