been kind of obsessed with my spotify daylist titles recently because theyre so funny. it told me i was having an enlightened poetry early wednesday morning. which is always how i feel riding the train, clearly. today it's main character coming of age friday morning and im like ok. i have a performance review with my supervisor i guess

today is my work anniversary so i've been officially working here full-time as a permanent employee (not intern) for two years now! :D

i think eclipse chasing traumatized me a little /silly i was just had a Reaction watching a weather report and seeing the HRRR simulated weather model for cloud cover

Yes, I'm weird, but I can picture Firewatch!Scar (in his first season) going to eat at a diner for the first time in 10 days to eat something else that wasn't MREs and absolutely scarfing down the mediocre eggs and toast served to him with wreckless abandon. (Bonus, he had just talked trash about how runny the scrambled eggs were right before going up to the lookout-)

LMAO this is so real. Definitely within the first month at least. Camping meals always taste sooooo good when you've been hiking all day, but some of that is just the exertion and you being tired and hungry. Day in and day out in a cabin where your main job is to just sit a look? Definitely an adjustment period. I've seen fire lookouts on social media that seem to have actually pretty decent diets but I think they have...easier access to civilization haha.

Have you ever read Smart Ovens for Lonely People? It's a collection of short stories by Elizabeth Tan and idk why but I have a feeling u might like them. I dont want to say too much in case you do decide to pick it up but all the stories take place in a version of Earth basically as the end of the world (due to human action not the sun) gradually gets closer and closer

i just remembered that i had a dream last night that there was another solar eclipse (and it was...last minute for some reason? like nobody knew ahead of time? lmao) and it was gonna kind of go through texas so we were going to drive to houston to see it but then it was going to be cloudy in houston so we turned around after going partway there to drive to texarkana instead. and then it turned out that there was like a massive wildfire surrounding texarkana that was literally blocking all roads in except for one that people were using to evacuate, so we just ended up viewing the eclipse from some other random town. and it was only like a 30 second totality and i didnt have my good glasses because it was last-minute so i just had crappy ones

Honestly one thing I really wish I saw more of in the Trafficblr/Hermitcraft fandom is Grian with brown eyes.

Grian’s “beady, soulless black eyes” have been a running joke for a long time- but people still often draw him with green/yellow/red (traffic life) or purple (watchers) or any number of eye colors.

But here’s the thing. I have brown eyes. I’ve received those exact same comments thousands of times about my eyes, how “soulless” and voidlike they are and that people can’t tell my eye color, especially in photos.

I know a lot of people online make posts about “honey brown” or brown eyes in lighting, but I think we need more representation of brown eyes so brown they’re black. He’s the perfect blorbo for this in my opinion- he’s LITERALLY the phrase “looks at you with my big brown eyes”

Hmm. Probably morning coffee? I don't see him as a tea person so much. If we're getting real accurate, it's probably instant coffee xD not a whole lot of luxury in a lookout cabin. I do like the idea of hot cocoa though. I can honestly see him as being the type of semi-annoying (affectionate) person who gets up without even bothering about coffee/caffiene and is just fine lol

A warm drink in the morning is Essential when in the lookout 👍not only because it is, you are correct, cold at night but also just for the general morale I think
