there’s a question to be asked i think about to what extent “getting out” can be conflated with “being saved” in this show, and what freedom actually means to any of these characters.
like you can argue that shiv saved ken by voting against him on gojo, but what if your intent behind saving someone is to inflict a worse punishment than if you’d just left them trapped? can a child weaned on poison survive on milk, or are you just sentencing them to a death by inches, starved of the only thing they know? and if you save someone specifically because you know that being saved is the worst thing that can happen to them, is that kindness or cruelty? at what point does a good thing become a malicious act?
and you can say that roman is finally free, but what exactly is he free from? the company? his father? does unlocking a cage mean saving a dog, or are you allowing him out on the street knowing there’s a kill shelter nearby? if the driving anxiety behind roman is that he’s an idiot and a failure—that he’ll never amount to anything, and trying will only lead to pain—and he’s finally cut loose once all of those anxieties have crystallized into cold hard fact in his mind, what has he actually escaped from? if the cage is in your mind, is it even possible for somebody else to unlock it?
the fundamental truth of a tragedy is that even being saved can be a death sentence, if the characters are incapable of escaping the thing doing them the most harm (themselves and their childhoods)
#'what about shiv' if i think about shiv i'm going to kill myself. she needs her own post. there's too much there to get into.#anyways seeing a tremendous amount of At Least Roman Is Free <3 tags that have me going. right. for sure. free from what?#because it's certainly not the intense amount of self disgust that has driven him in circles this entire time.#i fear he may feel the weight of alienation on his soul for the rest of his life. and he won't even try to alleviate it anymore.#and ALSO the idea that shiv went out of her way to save kendall as an act of like. altruism. like it was a sacrifice on her part#which i feel is a very toothless perspective on shiv and the psychological torment that's been weighing on her essentially since birth#like her choice in regards to gojo is one of the meatiest most harrowing bits of character work i've ever seen#and while of course there was love inside that action (because nothing these characters do is entirely divorced from love)#i don't think it was necessarily a kind or forgiving or sacrificial love#like this was an intense vitriolic snapping from a dog that has been kicked by her dad all her life.#and who absolutely refuses to accept that from her brother (because that would mean acknowledging that kendall takes the mantle of Dad-#and that she's subservient to him. which is the one thing she absolutely will never do#because it's a level of degradation that's finally a step too far)#anyways. um. insane season that i still can't look at directly or i'll perish on the spot.#succession

being a Graylu shipper am i the only one that doesn't like the idea of Lucy or anyone else being a Gruvia Shipper?
About Fairy Tail members being either complicit or enablers of juvia abusing Gray
You're definitely not alone, my friend! I personally am a Gralu shipper, but I don't necessarily agree just because of that.
I've said it in a post before, but I became an Anti gr///vian first and a Gralu shipper second. I totally understand people who don't like a certain ship just because they ship those individuals with other people, and I think that's a perfectly valid reason to hate a ship, as we can hate ships for mostly any reason. So, yes, being a Gralu shipper gives me another reason to not like it if Lucy were to ship gr///via because that basically just reconfirms that they don't like each other.
However, for me personally, I hate it whenever Lucy (whom I don't remember supporting gr///via very much if at all, but she definitely didn't actively oppose it to the best of my knowledge), Erza, or anyone in Fairy Tail/the FT universe supports gr///via mostly because that makes them, at best, complicit in juvia's abuse of Gray, and, at worst, enablers of this abuse.
I refuse to believe that manipulative and toxic affection was the true moral of Mashima's Fairy Tail, even if his characters actively advocate for it. I think he lost sight somewhere along the line of what it truly means to be a Fairy Tail member, and that means to be a loyal, compassionate, brave friend who always looks out for each other and love one another. juvia is none of those things, not even loyal to Gray, because what she does is a detriment to him, and she's really just loyal to herself and her "love" for him. Yet, Mashima promotes her behavior by giving her what she so desperately coveted in the end and by forcing his characters to be completely OOC and back up juvia, the slobbering, nasty, selfish pig, and not their loving, stalwart brother-in-arms and victim here, Gray.
That is despicable.
What's more, beyond how awful it is that FT people would rather back juvia than Gray, it's just bad, lazy writing. In no world would juvia be able to abuse other people and manipulate them and bully women and yet also be praised and protected and loved by those same people. Erza should have never sided with juvia over the 413 days matter or berated Gray for "not being clear enough" when he's been plenty clear. The other FT members shouldn't have ever blasted Gray for "leading juvia on". No one should even like juvia or want to be her friend because of what a b*tch she is.
Yet of course, everyone loves her for NO REASON. There are so many reasons to hate her (and honestly not one good reason to love her in my opinion), but does Mashima care? Absolutely not. juvia is his self-proclaimed self-insert's waifu, after all.
Anyway, true FT fans should be enraged that juvia lockser is one of the main people we are encouraged to be like in this show. They should be indignant that juvia has been made a poster child for this anime, when she embodies none of its values. They should refuse to accept this as healthy and desirable. They should balk at the fact that their beloved characters endorse juvia's actions and life choices, which are wholly unacceptable and unhealthy not only to herself but most importantly to others.
But lots of fans delude themselves, and the fans drive Mashima, so unfortunately, here we are, with a whole cast of characters who promote and affirm juvia, the least deserving of the Fairy Tail members.
For the record, I am not really talking about the fans who acknowledge juvia's toxicity but still like her and the ship because of a sort of suspension of disbelief. Honestly, there are many problematic or evil characters that many people like, and I usually see no problem with it if you are able to separate your fictional fantasies with reality. (Some deeply problematic things I do not excuse though). For example, I like Sukuna from JJK. Do I think he's a good person? Aaaaabsolutely not. He's a completely awful person. But still, I think he's cool and his power is sick, so I like him.
My issue lies within the area of the FT community who refuse to accept that juvia's behavior is deplorable and who attack anyone who tells them otherwise. These are the rabid fans who'd go for Mashima's throat if he dared to not make gr///via canon. I don't believe the fans who know juvia is a bad person but still ship gr///via would be so up in arms about it because this sort of self-awareness indicates maturity to me.
[Sidenote, the really aggravating and only thing that sets juvia apart from the characters who are literal villains and douches is that juvia isn't treated like a bad guy within the story. Sans some uncomfortable stares and sweat drops, she is largely treated like family, and everyone loves her. When even the canon material itself won't acknowledge a character's toxicity and awfulness to itself, of course there'll be people who don't think she's toxic. I hate that Fairy Tail lies to itself in this way. It just helps to turn the deluded fans against well-meaning Antis who speak literal objective truth, that the way juvia acts is not okay in real life.]
Anyway, those are my two cents, thank you for your patience and ask!

I actually find it absolutely adorable how Green stans made a whole scenario in which Daenaera doesn’t exist and the Blackfyres come from the Greens’ line to usurp Rhaenyra’s line again lmao we all need that kind of coping in our lives sometimes. That and the House Whent one.
I mean, I know none of them read ASOIAF and F&B but do they know that BOTH Daeron II and Daemon Blackfyre are Daemyra’s great grandsons ??? That Daemon Blackfyre was named after Rhaenyra’s husband, the man who hired Blood & Cheese to murder one of the brothers of Jaehaera, meaning that it’s impossible for Jaehaera to be Daena’s mother ?
I don't think I'm understanding what you say some fans are doing.
The new "Daemon Blackfyre" would still have Rhaenyra's blood in him if Jaehaera were the one to birth him?!
The point of Jaehaera marrying Aegon was to COMBINE the two lines, Rhaenyra's & Aegon II's?!!!
Wouldn't the new "Daemon Blackfyre" just be usurping his trueborn cousin/brother?!
Why?
Let's say that these people are considering their options and realize that even Daena herself maybe gets her name from "Daemon"--Aegon III's father--if not from Daenaera, thus maybe removing Daemon's legacy in their fanfic. I'm guessing that they have renamed her to something else closer to Jaehaera. (This would have to happen for Daena to be Jaehaera's daughter and not Daenaera.) Or who knows, maybe they haven't. Unwisely.
For there to be a separate "Jaehaera's line" from Aegon's for the new "Blackfyres", she'd have to not marry Aegon at all, bc the Blackfyres came from a bastard! Daemon Blackfyre's actions and how it goes down b/t him & Daeron II is bc he is a bastard. And if Jaehaera does have this new "Daemon Blackfyre" through marriage to Aegon III, the above large-font sentences will still apply.
But back to the new-Daemon B. still being a bastard in their fanfics. Wouldn't this new Daemon Blackfyre's existence still require Aegon III to have new-Daena marry Aegon IV or Aemond the Dragonkight (Viserys' sons) so she could birth a "trueborn" Daemon Blackfyre (thus he's no longer a "Blackfyre" at all but a "Targaryen" so that storyline is now ruined & the meaning concerning gender, pseudo-absolute monarchy in the hands of abusive people, might vs right etc. that it brought to the canon ASoIaF universe is also lost)...
It's okay to create fanfics out of the canon with what you wish had happened or what you would have changed to make it coherent or more engaging, I think. But once you start making claims that the thematic reason for the story/characters ending up the way they do is "stupid" or "amoral" when really you want the villains to be the good guys when they never were and you refused to accept that from the jump, then there are issues of bad faith. You don't like the story for what it is and that is why you think GRRM is making amoral plot decisions when he isn't.
You just reveal yourself to not agree with the core principles--cosmic or ethical or whatever--that GRRM is basing his entire series on. Even this, in a fanfic context, also could have been fine if you hadn't just been prejudiced in your opposition by imagining a world where the women actually have less agency than they actually do in GRRM's original story! And as long as you consistently acknowledge the canon as separate from your own fanons and fanfics.
Because believing that Jaehaera should have continued to be Queen for her sake--birth heirs, and live with the same people who either hated or were indifferent enough to her dead family to take advantage of her is good for her mental well-being--is to lie. Even if she hadn't been mentally disabled already. Not to mention I'm sure Daena is not her fierce independent self in these fanfics, to make way for the males to shine. And it's presented as righteous or "necessary" unironically & uncritically.

Your tags on your boomer post reblog struck me square in the chest: https://www.tumblr.com/abstractkind/723326609719984128?source=share
My Nan is 80, and never really unpacked that her father was an abusive alcoholic from whom her older brothers protected her; older brothers who joined the ww2 effort asap to get away from him and left her and her mother and sister in law behind
I had success in talking about divorce increase as "even if it did 'go too far' whatever that means, as the response of my father's generation to what was done to people like my Nan his mum." It's a selfish argument but one that eases by acknowledging trauma, and encouraging the understanding that they weren't the only ones who were going through it, and that the help might be too late but it is intended as help
I'm saddened others can relate, but it's affirming to know I'm not the only one who's seen it.
I'm just old enough to have boomer parents as well, largely in part because they had me rather late in their life, and my grandparents were much the same. We've found countless ration tickets from the Great Depression in handling estates, and only know part of our family back home because my grandfather reconnected with them while he was drafted in Europe. I never met my grandfather, and I'm rather glad I didn't. He sounds much like your Nan's dad.
Once I was deemed old enough to not be carefully sheltered from reality, I was always aghast at how casually my grandmother, aunts, and uncles all spoke about the alcoholism and abuse like it was the most commonplace thing. And it gave me context for a lot of the things I saw from each of them in their own relationships with their spouses and children, including my own parents– even if I didn't forgive them for some of the shit they did. And it was commonplace. Of course, I can only talk from the perspective of the people I grew up around, but "poor immigrant or residential school families devastated by the wars and a system built to try and keep them out" was the common denominator, and most people I knew had similar stories. Me and my cousins were regularly told to marry within our cultural group because our husbands "might beat us, but at least they'd put food on the table". And that was just... accepted. My grandmother left and returned to my grandfather twice, because there just wasn't support for a single mother with kids at the time, and she plainly couldn't get by in the world alone.
My aunts and uncles (blood and otherwise) all seem to reflect this. I hear a lot of the same from that age group: that they would never do what their parents did. But a lot of them seem to consider that the bottom line, the one standard of parenthood to maintain and all that really mattered. They didn't terrorize us the same way as their parents, so they were good parents, end of. They still refuse to look critically at any other behaviors because they seem to feel like comparatively, we have it easy. And in some ways we do! I'm grateful for what is available to me now, and that if I ever faced what my grandmother did, my neighbours wouldn't shrug and call it my husband's right. But it didn't excuse their own failings, or the ignorance they still seem to cling to now when my cousins' kids try to explain what they're going through. Or how my union-pensioned uncle keeps railing about entitled kids on strikes.
But man, it hangs heavy on some of them still. Generational trauma as a concept felt like a gut punch when I learned about it, because that was absolutely the face of the people who raised me. Understanding that has absolutely helped me with conversations with them.

you don’t have to post this because i know how any post not demonizing billy gets someone a lot of hate.
ok i’m 2 weeks late but the unending billy hate just.. hurts my soul because it’s never a nuanced conversation. people refuse to admit that even though he’s done and said messed up things, he’s still a victim of abuse. i do blame the duffers for that because all they care about is demonizing him. dacre montgomery tried so hard to focus on billy’s abuse and insecurities and how that resulted in his shitty actions and adopted views from his father. he’s so real. not every abuse victim is overly kind and “docile.” he’s an angry person. victims of abuse can be angry and violent because that’s all they’ve been shown, but that doesn’t mean they “maybe deserve to die.” maybe the deserve a chance to change with proper care. ugh the way stranger things has handled billy’s abuse is so damaging to abuse victims. neil faces no consequences. max’s mother makes no mention of it despite witnessing it. a random basketball player’s abuse can be focused on but not billy’s? the way people say billy is worse than brenner & peter creel! it’s absolutely ridiculous. there’s also this misogynistic, hetnormative way in which antis will say that the only people who like billy are woman who think he’s hot. and don’t get me started on that hate dacre receives for trying to humanize his character and how he’s been ostracized by the duffer brothers. i could talk about this forever lol. anyways, he and steve are in love but the duffers saw that they were too powerful bye.
Dude i also have a whole manifesto about billy. I feel you so hard. Also im not afraid of antis saying anything to me bc i always want to be talking about this even on my streamer side blog lol
What i have to add is my opinion on the fact that ppl call him racist and abusive.
Billy does in season 2 say something implicitly racist saying max shouldn’t hang out with ppl like lucas. But the duffers are cowards that refuse to touch on any racism in the 80s. Im p sure its by the request of caleb who plays lucas, but theyve had characters say the f slur, had episodes about misogyny and yet they refuse to acknowledge the racism lucas may have faced even in passing. Im not saying lucas should be hate crimed but i feel like it would explain why he really wanted to be accepted by the basketball team and obsessed with being popular in season 4.
The duffers never follow up on the racist comment billy made and its not talked about at all in season 3. it is not a reoccurring or central trait to billy. Billys racism is as relevant as the byers dog to the duffers. They forget everything they write.
Also, the way he treats Max is a direct product of his abuse from his father. Anything she does wrong, billy gets punished for. Its a common abuse tactic idk why ppl think billy treats her bad just bc he’s evil. Also like… does anyone call intense fighting between siblings abuse in any other context??
The ppl who say hes the evilest person on the show are hard core projecting their own highschool bully onto him. I saw ppl saying jason was not as bad as billy and jason actually shot at lucas with the intent to kill him when billy pushed him up against a wall aggressively (i think the cast and creators even said this). Jason is the personification of rich white christian heterosexual America and the violence that comes from their ignorance. Billy is literally a poor metal head that gets called gay slurs by his father. Jason has the power of the entire town behind him hunting down the party; billy is just some angry punk with no outlet that finds his little sister in a creepy house with a bunch of boys and a high school senior in the middle of the night.
I for sure get not liking billy but idk how it became so extreme and mainstream. It used to be just infighting in the fandom but now its all over tiktok and hating him is The Opinion to have.
I think it might be because the show is so black and white about whether or not a character is good or evil and people can’t handle that billy has any complexity at all.
Also is it a crime for a man to be attractive? Ppl will crucify you if you don’t have a moral reason for liking a character istg. Maybe he’s the only character on that show that has any depth AND has a fat ass??? Ever think of that??
Thanks for sending this ask!!

I don’t like Gail, but I do find her a fascinating character to dissect. If you’ll forgive my swiftie terminology, Gail is literally still at the restaurant gathering dust. She can’t move forward in any meaningful way, she’s literally stuck with her memories of her son and that’s how she likes it!
Elle and Paul had to move on from Robert because it was the only way they could survive. Paul has always dealt with death by refusing to acknowledge it, and the same extends to his estranged family members. Elle won’t acknowledge it because it hurts too much. Don’t get me wrong, Robert gutted both Elle and Paul. He gave them a wound that can never heal, and that bleeds and bleeds and is still bleeding to this very day, on everything that they touch. Robert is the reason that Paul is so controlling toward his children, he’s the reason Elle can’t trust anyone, he absolutely changed them irrevocably. But he didn’t ruin their lives. He DID ruin Gail’s, the person he was trying to protect.
in 2007, when she had the chance to play family with Elle and Paul she told Paul that she couldn’t pick him over her memories. the quiet part is that she can’t pick Elle, either. the only way she can pick Elle, is if Elle comes back to Tasmania with her. You can never go back to your mothers house, but in Elle’s case she literally cannot or she would be stuck too, surrounded by reminders of the brothers she lost.
then again, in 2019, when she has the chance to move forward with Harlow, she opts instead of staying, instead of building a relationship with who is likely to be her only grandchild, to go to New York for another doomed round of trying to fix things with Elle, then presumably goes back to Tasmania to never call, or speak to Harlow again. She can’t bring Harlow back with her to Tasmania because Harlow doesn’t want to go there. She is choosing her father, just like Elle. Gail can only choose someone if they go with her, if they stay still with her in her memories and that’s no place for a teenage girl. She can’t develop a relationship with Harlow outside of it, because Gail doesnt WANT to be outside of it. She could have had Harlow. But she picked her memories instead.
Why is Elle and Gail’s relationship so fractured when her relationship with Paul has gone through so much more and is fine? Because Paul loves her without judgement. Paul is the only person who could ever know the real Elle and still love her. Because he had his pick of triplets...and picked her. Gail seems to openly have favoured Robert when the triplets were growing up so much so even Worlds Most Absent Father Paul knew it. Even now, even when she’s the last triplet standing, Gail can’t pick Elle. Can’t love her more than Robert. Can’t accept that she’s moving forward while she’s standing still! Elle wants nothing more in the world than for Paul to be a father to her...but she tells Gail to her face to stop trying to be her mother like doesn’t that say it all about their relationship?
Paul has Elle, and his other kids, and his wives and his businesses. Even though he leaves blood on everything he touches, Paul has moved on as much as he can. Elle has moved on as best as she can, she’s developing new relationships with siblings she used to be scared of knowing, she’s leaving her past in the past and Gail can never do that.  Gail can’t pick Elle. Can’t move on with Harlow. Can’t move on with Paul. Can’t stand Robert more than three times a year. Cam is dead. Her parents are dead. Ian Chadwick is dead. She doesn’t appear to know her biological brothers, or her biological maternal family.
I mean damn. Of course Gail chooses her memories. moving on is too hard.

Two Shakespeare/MDZS Crossovers That Generally Improve Everyone’s Lives
SWITCHEROO 1: Jiang Cheng with Prince Hal (Henry IV Parts 1 and 2, Henry V)
Fixes MDZS because: Hal is a charming, clever fuckboy who steadfastly refuses to take anything seriously until he’s thrust into war. Jiang Fengmian would adore him, so Hal’s daddy issues are now gone. Once Hal does accept his responsibility, he quite famously prioritizes it over all of his personal relationships, which means he is absolutely NOT going to get himself captured to save WWX. WWX still ends up core-less in this scenario, but nonconsensual surgical procedures and a 3-month stay in the Burial Mounds are not involved. Hal’s Machiavellian streak might also enable him to keep ahead of JGS’s maneuvering later on.
Fixes the Henriad because: Bolingbroke repeatedly wishes Hal could be more like Hotspur, and what is Jiang Cheng but Hotspur with impulse control? Jiang Cheng would work SO HARD to be the best soldier and best heir to the throne he could possibly be, and Bolingbroke would appreciate and praise him accordingly! Jiang Cheng’s daddy issues are also gone now, so he will not feel the need to mask his insecurities by invading France and reigniting the Hundred Years War. If he ends up flirting with the French princess en route to a marriage alliance, he remains a hapless goober throughout and does NOT make it weird by forcing her to kiss him.
SWITCHEROO 2: Jin Guangyao with Edmund (King Lear)
Fixes MDZS because: Edmund thinks he’s hot shit, but literally all of his schemes hinge on everyone around him loving and trusting him blindly. If he stabbed himself in the arm and told Jin Guangshan that Jin Zixuan did it, JGS would just find it funny. Edmund has no concept of filial piety and would quit once it became clear that JGS wasn’t going to reward him for anything, so JGS’s ability to consolidate power and eliminate opposition is to his rule is severely compromised. Edmund also doesn’t have the patience or 🥺 to get Nie Mingjue or Lan Xichen as protectors. Things are looking great for the jianghu… unless Edmund meets and become besties with fellow “this is the excellent foppery of the world” edgelord Xue Yang, in which case oh god, now there’s TWO of them.
Fixes King Lear because: A dad who acknowledges and values him from the get-go? A brother who sees him as a friend? Respect from the ruling class? Congratulations! We have given Jin Guangyao everything he wants! Since he’s happy and Gloucester isn’t going to ask him to commit war crimes, the likelihood of JGY committing atrocities is almost zero. And if he does end up on that road, the Duke of Cornwall is the answer to the question “what if Nie Mingjue thought atrocities were sexy?” If Cornwall hears a dude disrespecting JGY’s mom, Cornwall is presenting JGY with that dude’s eyes on a plate five minutes later. This does not fix the main problem of this play, which is Lear himself, but it fixes things for the characters I personally like.

Stitching Together - G.W.
George Weasley x fem!reader
Tumblr media
Requested: yes !! by my lovely bean marissa @lumos-barnes
please accept my humble request for a george x reader where the reader owns a shop in diagon alley and one day they walk into WWW and george knocks over a whole display, he is a complete SIMP & cannot compose himself. complete buffoonery when the reader is near. they become friends & do all these nice things for each other and the reader is oblivious like "george, i'm so lucky to be your friend" (even though the reader is secretly simping) and he's like "um what, i'm literally in love with you"
Word count: 3.1k
Warnings: mentions of meals and drinks (coffee), but other than that it’s just pure fluff & Dumb Idiots In Love
A/N: somehow i always end up writing george knitting? idk how it happened, but it happened. i hope you like it marissa 🥺💕
You took a step back to admire your handiwork.
After what seemed like neverending hours, the layout of your shop was finally perfect. From where you stood, you had a view of the streets of Diagon Alley, several passersby coming and goings from your sight. The display of charmed knit work by the window was already moving, demonstrating simple stitches that formed into a scarf.
It had always been your dream to open up your own shop in the most prominent wizarding area of Britain, with your passion for knitting and crafting, but the timing had always been off. Now, about a year or so since the war had ended, your grandmother surprised you with the capital to make your dreams come true.
The gesture was extra special because she was the one who first taught you how to knit. Many summers were spent in her cottage, sitting side by side and working on personal projects together.
Outside, your sign read ‘Stitching Together: Grand Opening’. There were a few flyers posted right on the door and on the window advertising the different classes and crafting groups you were offering, as well as the different products that could be found in your store.
It was as if your heart could burst at the sight of your fully furnished shop and you could wait no longer. With a flick of your wand, the sign on the door flipped to say open and that was that.
“Hey Freddie, have you seen that new shop that’s opened down the street?” George yelled from the bottom of the stairs once the last customer of the day made their leave.
“Haven’t gone in, but it’s gotten a lot of customers from what I can tell!” the disembodied voice of his twin replied from somewhere above.
As he began the process of cleaning up and reshelving, products floating in midair or zooming towards their proper shelves, he called out once more, “What type of store is it d’you reckon?”
“Arts and crafts? Something like that.”
George’s eyes drifted towards the shop window, where he could just barely see the outline of the new store. Dusk had begun to set in London, so the sky was filled with brilliant hues of purple and orange. His curiosity getting the better of him, he decided that he would go welcome the new shop owner to Diagon Alley.
With a shout to let his twin know where he was off to, George strode out of Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes and into the brisk weather. Luckily for him, Stitching Together was still open. He could see you bustling around inside, fixing displays and swishing your wand to tidy everything up.
It had only been around a month since your shop had opened, but the local wizard folk of London seemed to be very keen on buying the different things you sold. Many came around to purchase the instructional books and the different kinds of wool and yarn, and some of your regulars had even taken an interest in the classes you held weekly. It was a great way for you to get to know the community and to establish friendships.
You had always taken note of the joke shop a few shops down from you, but with the hustle and bustle of just opening, you hadn’t had a chance to visit or introduce yourself to the owners. It was just your luck that one half of them pushed open the door to your shop, the little bell at the top of it ringing to indicate his presence.
“Oh, hello!” you smiled, turning to face the redheaded man, “Welcome to Stitching Together, what could I help you with?”
Unbeknownst to George, your heart began to beat rapidly in your chest. How could a man be so positively handsome you didn’t know, but at the sight of him standing by the door, all you could think about was how gorgeous he was. And he hadn’t even uttered a single word yet!
The charming smile he sent your way did not help the heat you could feel creeping up your neck. “Just popping by to say hello and welcome to Diagon Alley! My twin and I run Wheezes just down the street,” he said.
Your smile grew as he stuck his hand out for you to shake, “Oh I was just thinking about how I’ve been wanting to pay your shop a visit! I’m Y/N, by the way.”
“George Weasley at your service,” his hand was firm and warm as he shook yours, eyes sparkling with something you couldn’t quite name. “Nice to meet you!”
“So tell me about your shop!”
Somehow, after that evening, George Weasley snuck his way into becoming a part of your daily routine.
Every morning he would show up with two cups of coffee in hand right before your shop was set to open. After realizing that you depended on caffeine to function throughout your day, he made it a point to bring you one everyday. As you sipped on your coffees, the two of you would spend a few minutes chatting about your plans for the day before going to work.
Whenever you would offer to pay for your own cup or even try to insinuate that you could get your own coffee in the morning, just so that he wouldn’t have to go through the trouble, he would stop you in your tracks.
“But George–”
“Nope!” he would say in a voice louder than yours. “I’m doing this out of the kindness of my heart. I really feel for your customers who have to deal with a Y/N that hasn’t had her coffee fix. Could you imagine the grumpiness? Not on my watch!”
You would roll your eyes, but secretly it warmed your heart how sweet this boy could be. He was slowly inching his way into your life and becoming a great friend.
“So,” said Fred one day as George had gotten back from delivering your daily coffee, “The bird from the knitting shop, huh?”
His twin only rolled his eyes in response, used to the teasing that came with being brothers (and twins) with Fred Weasley. Instead of engaging, George went instead to do the routine last check over their store before they officially opened their doors. Still, Fred couldn’t resist the temptation to continue provoking him.
“Oi! C’mon, you bring her coffee everyday even if you don’t like the stuff. If I don’t remind you that you have a store to run, you would spend the whole day staring out the window just to catch a glimpse of the girl! Tell me you’re not whipped for her,” he teased, following George through the shop.
From their position at the till and on the second floor, both Verity and Lee tried to hide their smirks. This was too good a story to not eavesdrop on.
“Come off it, Fred.” George rolled his eyes. “I’m just being a good friend, that’s all!”
“Yeah but you wouldn’t mind being more than friends.”
The cheeky wink Fred sent George was not appreciated, as the prior soon found out, having to duck away from a stinging hex. Still, Fred’s laugh rang through the semi-empty store as he ran away from his brother.
Later in the day, as the lunch crowd tapered off, the four of them were left to mull around a bit. Lee and Verity were off taking stock in the back room, Fred was doing some accounting (because his twin couldn’t be trusted with any sort of math), and George was reshelving some Skiving Snackboxes.
The bell above the door to the shop rang, but he couldn’t quite tell who came in from his position towards the back of the shop.
“Welcome to Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes!” he yelled, rushing to get all the boxes in order before he could help the new customer, “I’ll be with you in just a second!”
Just as he admired his handiwork, eyes scanning the display to make sure nothing was out of place, a familiar voice called from behind him, “It’s alright, take your time. I’m not looking for anything in particular.”
George almost jumped out of his skin as he heard your voice. He was so surprised that as he turned to meet you, his elbow caught on the edge of one of the Snackboxes and the whole thing toppled over.
You watched as the tower of boxes crumbled around him, and your hand automatically covered your mouth as you tried to contain your laughter. It didn’t work, though, and soon the whole store could hear your guffaws.
Thankfully, George was a wizard, and what would’ve taken a muggle quite some time to fix, only took a quick flick of his wand.
“Oops,” you smiled at him bashfully as he finished, “Didn’t mean to startle you, Weasley.”
“Erm, it-it’s alright,” he blushed, “I just didn’t expect you to come ‘round today.”
In truth, the reason why George was so flustered at your appearance at his shop was because he had just spent most of the afternoon thinking about you. He often did that, getting lost in his thoughts about the many little things that made you, well, you. The deep breath you took before that first sip of coffee in the morning, revelling in the aroma. How your face lit up when you spoke about the different people you met in your classes. Your hands and how skillfully they worked whatever project you were creating at the moment.
He wouldn’t admit it to Fred, but what his twin had said earlier in the day was accurate. He was absolutely smitten over you.
“Well you’ve been a regular over at mine for the last couple of weeks, I’m just returning the favor and visiting my favorite redhead at his place of work!”
“I-I,” he stuttered, his brain refusing to acknowledge the fact that he was your favorite anything.
Fred, who had heard the commotion and had gone down to check if everything was okay, nearly face palmed as he watched George fumble through his words. The man was whipped for you, no doubt about it, and as a good twin, he decided to save his brother from further humiliation.
“I think what my lovely twin here is trying to say, is that you just haven’t met enough redheads to make your decision about your favorite one,” he said, smoothly inserting himself into the conversation. “Fred Weasley, at your service!”
Your smile immediately brightened at the sight of George’s twin holding out his hand for you to shake, “Nice to meet you! I’m Y/N, George’s told me loads about you!”
“Has he?” Fred raised his eyebrow, turning to look at George who was still a little dumbstruck at the sight of you in his shop. “Well, that just means it’s my turn to spend some time with such a lovely lady. C’mon, I’ll give you a tour of the shop!”
“Oh I’d love that.”
With a small glance and wave at George, you took the arm that Fred was holding out for you, and so began his (largely amusing) tour of Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes.
“What in Merlin’s name was that!” yelled Fred the moment you left the shop.
George groaned into his hands, embarrassment creeping back into him. He had acted a fool, unable to even mutter a single sentence to you the whole time you were around.
“Mate, I have never seen you so flustered around a girl,” his twin muttered, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder, “Just tell her you’ve got feelings for her! Ask her on a date, do something! From what I could tell, you’re not the only one who’s caught feelings.”
“It’s not like that between us,” he said, “I doubt she even notices how much I fancy her.”
Somehow, George wound up taking Fred’s advice. Though, in typical-George fashion, he never explicitly mentioned to you anything about the way he felt.
Instead, he would stay around your shop longer in the mornings, taking slower than usual sips of his coffee (which he still couldn’t say he preferred over a good cup of tea). Other days, he would come around closing time and help put everything back in order and if he was lucky, the two of you would go out to dinner. Of course, he would also never let you pay a sickle for your meal, no matter how much you insisted.
Weekends were usually spent together as well.
Saturdays were for brunch and muggle films on the telly. It was one of the rare occasions he would drink a beverage in front of you that wasn’t that (god forsaken) coffee.
Sundays were more for crafting together. He would floo into your flat after having lunch with his family and the two of you would continue working on his little project.
“My mum loves to knit,” he mentioned one day, while he observed your quick hands skillfully moving the thread through your needles. “She knits us all sweaters for Christmas. It’s become a tradition of sorts.”
“That’s lovely,” you smiled up at him.
“Yeah, anyone who’s practically family gets one too. Like Harry and Hermione,” he mused.
“I could teach you how to knit her something, if you wanted,” you offered. “It’d be something pretty simple though, especially if you’ve never knitted anything before.”
The smile he sent you was so dazzling, you had to take a moment. You were practically melting under his tender gaze and you swallowed thickly, trying to gain your composure.
 “That’d be bloody brilliant, Y/N!”
You only hoped he didn’t notice how your face got hot and how your hands couldn’t move the needles to do what you wanted, too flustered to be precise with your movements.
Since then, the two of you spent most of Sunday afternoons making sure George had the correct strings of yarn on the correct needle. You would keep a close eye on him and his progress, but most of the time he was alright on his own. Sometimes, he would purposely sit closer to you on your couch and you could practically feel the warmth radiating from him.
In between knits, your eyes would drift towards his focused face and you would smile. George had a habit of poking the tip of his tongue out when he was knitting. Something about the gesture helped him concentrate, and you found it absolutely adorable.
The more time you spent together, though, the more confused George got. It was getting to a point where in his head, it was impossible to miss what he was trying to say with his actions. You had to have caught on by now. And, since you hadn’t acknowledged what was going on between the two of you, he had assumed that this was your polite way of rejecting him.
On a chilly morning, he clutched the warm cups of coffee in his hands as he pushed the door to Stitching Together open with his back.
“Morning, Y/N!” he greeted.
You grinned in his direction as he made his way towards you. The moment he placed the warm drink in your hands and you took your first sip, a small moan of gratefulness escaped your lips.
“Merlin, I don’t deserve you,” you mumbled to your cup.
“Sorry?” George asked, brows furrowed slightly.
“Oh nothing!” you quickly said, “I’m just really glad you’re my friend, Georgie.”
Friend.
The word seemed to make his heart sink down to his stomach and ignite something in him at the same time. It was time that he told you how he felt, no matter what would happen afterwards. He couldn’t keep going on pretending he wasn’t head over heels in love with you.
“Erm, about that Y/N,” he began, stuffing his hands into the pockets of his work uniform, “I’ve got to tell you something.”
It was now or never.
You smiled up at him encouragingly, almost oblivious to the bundle of nerves that were most definitely visible in his expression.
“I-I don’t want to be just friends, Y/N,” he said, lips pursed in anticipation.
“What do you want then?” you still didn’t understand what he was trying to say.
In a burst of confidence, George took your hands in his and gripped them tightly, “I want to be with you. I fancy you loads, I think I might even be in love with you, Y/N. Honestly, I might’ve been in love with you from the moment I first walked into your shop.”
Your lack of an immediate response left him to back track, “But I understand completely if you don’t feel the same way, I just wanted to get it out there.”
For a moment, the two of you were silent. George eyed you nervously, wondering what was going on through your head, bracing himself for the rejection that he thought was on the tip of your tongue.
Finally, he couldn’t take it anymore, “Y/N? Do you want me to go?”
Instead of answering, you flung your arms around his neck. He was so startled at your sudden gesture that he almost didn’t notice your lips on his. Almost.
As suddenly as you had kissed him, all of his apprehensions melted away. Almost automatically, his arms found themselves wrapped around your waist and he pulled you closer to him. Your lips melted together seamlessly. It was as if this was where the two of you were meant to be, and you couldn’t help but smile into the kiss.
Sooner than you had liked, George pulled away from you slightly. Despite his best efforts, he couldn’t help but dip his head down to peck your lips again. Once, twice, three times. This left you a giggly mess, your nose scrunching up in a way that was practically begging him to kiss it as well.
“Does that mean you fancy me too?” he murmured against your lips.
“Absolutely, head over heels,” you smiled in return.
The pair of you spent a brief moment with your foreheads pressed together, giddy smiles on your faces. That was until a knock on the door of your shop sounded. Immediately, you sprung apart, a blush coating tip of George’s ears and cheeks.
A few people stood outside, eyeing you amusedly.
“Oh shit,” you said, hurrying to flip the sign on the door to say ‘open’ and to unlock the door with a flick of your wand. “I completely forgot I had a class today.”
As the small group of people began to file inside, they sent knowing glances your way to which you only groaned softly and looked up at George.
“I’ll see you tonight?” you asked hopefully.
With a kiss to your cheek and a mischievous grin he said, “You can count on it, love.”

If Rheagar was such a bad guy then why does most of westeros still think about him positively after the Rebellion?
This ended up being a long response, so I'm going to put a lot of it under the cut for length.
First of all, even if most of Westeros thought that Rhaegar was fantastic, that still wouldn’t mean that he actually was fantastic. Perception plays a huge role in politics, which is obvious from Sansa’s observation about Margaery and the Tyrells:
The smallfolk cheered them as well.
The same smallfolk who pulled me from my horse and would have killed me, if not for the Hound. Sansa had done nothing to make the commons hate her, no more than Margaery Tyrell had done to win their love.
Reality does not always equal perception, especially where the rich and powerful are concerned.
Second, there’s absolutely no evidence that most of Westeros thinks about Rhaegar positively. In fact, quite the opposite. The story that has been told across Westeros ever since Robert’s Rebellion is that Rhaegar kidnapped and raped Lyanna; that’s the story that Robert (as the new king) spreads, and it’s what most people believe, including children like Bran:
“Robert was betrothed to marry her, but Prince Rhaegar carried her off and raped her,” Bran explained. “Robert fought a war to win her back. He killed Rhaegar on the Trident with his hammer, but Lyanna died and he never got her back at all.”
That doesn’t sound too positive to me.
Third, it may seem like Rhaegar is viewed as mostly positive because of the POV trap. We only really get a few people’s outright opinions about Rhaegar (instead of vague or implied ones): Daenerys, Jorah, Ned, Bran, Barristan, Cersei, Jaime, Robert, and Jon Connington.
Of those, 2 of them (Bran and Robert) see Rhaegar negatively, 2 of them (Ned and Jaime) see him almost indifferently (I’ll talk about that later), and 5 of them (Daenerys, Jorah, Barristan, Cersei, and Jon Connington) see him positively. That seems like there is more good than bad, but you have to look at the context.
Daenerys certainly isn’t going to view her brother (that she never met but has heard tales about from Viserys) as a villain when she’s been told a very different story, and even if Jorah and Barristan didn't like Rhaegar, they would never tell Daenerys that. It’s also worth noting that Jorah traded slaves and Barristan was part of a Kingsguard which has seriously questionable morals, so I can’t say that I hold either of their opinions in high regards.
Jon Connington thinks of Rhaegar in a positive light because he was in love with him, but ironically enough, he barely knew him. That's obvious from the fact that he was more jealous of Elia’s relationship with Rhaegar than Lyanna’s, which would make no sense if he truly knew what transpired and what Rhaegar was thinking.
Cersei thinks of Rhaegar positively because Rhaegar is to her what Lyanna is to Robert – a fantasy of what could have been that serves as an escape from the awful reality. Robert has abused Cersei countless times, and she’s understandably unhappy with him. She didn’t even know Rhaegar, but she deludes herself into thinking that her life would have been better if she had married him:
If she had only married Rhaegar as the gods intended, he would never have looked twice at the wolf girl. Rhaegar would be our king today and I would be his queen, the mother of his sons.
This is just like the way Robert deludes himself into thinking that he would be happy if he married Lyanna. Neither of these ideas are based in reality.
There’s also an unrealistic perception of royalty that comes into play. Look at what happens to Cersei:
Cersei was soiled goods now, her power at an end. Every baker's boy and beggar in the city had seen her in her shame and every tart and tanner from Flea Bottom to Pisswater Bend had gazed upon her nakedness, their eager eyes crawling over her breasts and belly and woman's parts. No queen could expect to rule again after that. In gold and silk and emeralds Cersei had been a queen, the next thing to a goddess; naked, she was only human, an aging woman with stretch marks on her belly and teats that had begun to sag … as the shrews in the crowds had been glad to point out to their husbands and lovers.
The perception (as opposed to the reality) is what really sets the royal family apart, and Rhaegar certainly had an advantage in that regard: he was a handsome and intelligent prince and a talented jouster and swordsman. On paper, that sounds great, so for people who didn’t really know him (like Cersei and Jon), what’s not to love?
Also, compare that to Aerys (who was growing increasingly paranoid and delusional and even looked like he was going mad by refusing to cut his hair or nails) & Robert (who was an abusive, angry drunk). To people like Barristan, Rhaegar seemed like the lesser of all evils (though the bar is certainly set very low).
Now think about the two people who view Rhaegar almost indifferently: Jaime and Ned. With Jaime, I say it’s indifferent because his memories and thoughts about Rhaegar aren’t really based on his opinion about him; they are more about his guilt at failing to protect Rhaegar’s children, which I think he realistically would have felt regardless of how he felt about the prince. It’s no secret that Jaime hates Robert, but he doesn’t seem to particularly love Rhaegar either. He mostly just gives facts about him that are tainted by his youth and his guilt.
Ned’s opinion is what people usually point to as an excuse for Rhaegar “not being so bad” because if Ned doesn’t hate him, then surely he must not have been so awful 🙄 The irony of that is that Ned had a much greater opinion of Robert than he deserved (at first), but that certainly doesn’t mean that Robert was a saint. And he mostly just remembers facts about Rhaegar; the only “positive” thing he thinks is this:
There was no answer Ned Stark could give to that but a frown. For the first time in years, he found himself remembering Rhaegar Targaryen. He wondered if Rhaegar had frequented brothels; somehow he thought not.
If not frequenting brothels is the standard for being a great person, then his expectations are far too low.
I also think this is rooted in Ned’s misogyny. Even though Ned doesn’t think poorly of Lyanna (which he shouldn’t), he knows that she went with Rhaegar willingly, and because of that, he doesn’t seem to fault Rhaegar for the power imbalance as much as he should.
Since he doesn't think of Rhaegar as a rapist, that implies that he seems to just accept that this was a bad decision that Rhaegar and Lyanna made together that had domino effects. It's not as bad as some characters thinking that Lyanna “seduced” Rhaegar, but it still doesn't put the blame fully where it belongs (by acknowledging that Lyanna was still a child who Rhaegar took advantage of).
Ned clearly still loved Lyanna dearly, but I do think he didn’t understand her decision to run away with Rhaegar in the first place, and part of that is because his views about Robert didn't match up with hers (which was obvious when he assured her that Robert was a good man who was true and would love her with all his heart). Even though he told Robert that he didn’t see the iron underneath Lyanna’s beauty, he still somehow thinks that Robert loved her truly:
Lyanna had only been sixteen, a child-woman of surpassing loveliness. Ned had loved her with all his heart. Robert had loved her even more. She was to have been his bride.
That’s one of the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever read, and yet somehow Ned believes that. By the time he starts thinking about Rhaegar again, he’s finally seeing Robert more clearly, and because of that, he’s finally beginning to think about/understand why Lyanna made the decision that she did. So I personally think that Ned's thoughts about Rhaegar (above) have more to do with Lyanna than the prince.
This became way longer than I intended, and I feel like I went off on a few tangents (sorry), but to sum it up: Not everyone views Rhaegar positively, and even if they did, it doesn’t make him a good person. He left his wife and children to kidnap a girl that was still a child, locked said girl in a tower without access to her family while she was pregnant, and set into motion a war that killed so many innocent people. I don’t care how many people “liked” him in the books; Rhaegar was still a jerk.

Guilt Eater
Part 4 of the ‘Successors of the Future’ is here! And yes, I will do my absolute best to squeeze in as much Blazblue reference in this series until I can’t! (I mean, that’s how I got the plot bunny for this series anyway~)
We’re moving the spotlights today to Malleus and Ace and a special guest! I thought it’ll be an interesting shift of perspective and change. Don’t worry, we’ll get right back to the kids in the next oneshot.
As always, big thank you to @tri3tri for letting us expand her Second Wive AU. Hope you guys enjoy this oneshot.
-
Time tend to leave its mark differently on each species.
For creatures who only grew stronger with time while their bodies remain near immortal, the passing of time means nothing to the Fair Folks. Time is likened to the ocean; ancient yet full of wonders.
For Malleus, however, time has not been kind to him. Not since his dear heart and children vanishes.
Ever since then, there is an unspoken rule among the residents of the Castle of Thorns: the Queen’s family wing is forbidden to everyone but the King.
Even Lilia nod his head to the rule; even he has been walking on eggshells around their King.
And the years had transformed the Queen’s domain into a catacomb. The rumpled beds, the toys littered in Princess Sherrie’s bedroom, the Queen’s favourite book on her study table - everything is left untouched with layered of dust and cobwebs covering every inch of the surfaces.
Every evening, the King would stalk the empty halls and bedrooms like a ghost; constantly yearning to feel the memories that embedded on the walls. Once he did his duties as the King and beget the male heir that the court had been pushing, Malleus has been living in regret ever since.
He should have known that his beautiful wife would attempt to escape during the night of his second wedding. He should have tightened the security not on his concubine, but to the Queen and their Princesses. He should have assured Renata and Sherrie that only their mother holds his heart and that Bellatrix is just a means to an end.
He should have told them that he loves them.
Regret and guilt are terrible poisons. It festered under your skin and twist your heart painfully. They plague your mind with ‘what if’s’ and ‘should have’s’ and Malleus have been carrying them ever since that night.
Tonight, he lost hours inside Renata’s bedroom, just staring at her favourite doll that he bought for her. He still remembers how her eyes lit up and how sweet her smile was when he presented the doll to her; how she was so happy that she clings on him and the doll that day. Deeply amused, he humoured her and carried her in her arms the whole day. Malleus even brought her to his court session, regardless how it broke propriety.
His every waking moments now drift to MC and their daughters. Where are they? Why couldn’t he find them no matter how many soldiers he dispatched across Twisted Wonderland, no matter how far his magic blanket the lands? Are his daughters healthy, happy? What are they currently doing now? Are they safe? Have they forgotten about him -
The mirror on the vanity table shattered. Malleus releases the doll in his grip and struggle to calm himself down; his body curl inwards and his breaths erratic. The thought of his wife and children far away and happy from him nearly drove him crazy if it weren’t for Lilia’s quick and careful words of consolation.
“They can’t hide forever, Malleus. Don’t ever give up, you hear me? And once we’ll find them, we’ll make sure her little escape routines are put to a stop. Permanently.”
Lilia’s words are enough to ground him. For now.
Malleus failed to assured his wife and daughters his love towards them, failed to show just how deep his convictions towards them are. The moment he finds any threads of their whereabouts, he’ll make sure to rectify that.
And as the night made way for morning, Malleus forces himself to leave his daughter’s abandoned bedroom to prepare for another long, monotonous day. The only reason why he hasn’t delegate his duties to Lilia was because of his grandmother. His grandmother had come to visit on the eve of his second wedding and stayed when a frantic Silver announced MC and their children’s disappearance. If it weren’t for her, Malleus would’ve burned away his suit and transform into a dragon to search for them. While Lilia organise a search team with Silver and Sebek, his grandmother made sure he understood his duties as King once more.
That was the first and last time he slept with Bellatrix before his thoughts and desire are consumed with the need to find his family. At that point, neither Lilia nor his grandmother could’ve stop him.
The castle staffs and guards know to scattered when they see him step out of the Queen’s wing. The moment they heard the door creaked open, the room is empty.
All but for one individual.
“Good morning, Father!”
Malleus stop his track. He tilts his head towards his heir, expressionless. Victor refused to be deterred by his Father’s gloomy aura yet he’s smart enough to carefully approach him.
The king is stoic on the best days, frightening on his worst.
“Will you be joining us for breakfast later? I heard from Grandfather Lilia that the kitchen staffs are planning to cook your favourites.”
“I’ll be taking my meals in my office as usual.” Malleus reply and starts to walk away.
Victor’s smile drop a little but he pressed on, jogging behind his father. In a rare burst of courage, the Prince grab Malleus’ hand. Surprisingly, Malleus stops walking. He stares at his hand before narrowing his eyes at Victor.
“W-Would Father like a report of my recent academic progress? My tutors said that I’ve been doing well in my magic classes! O-Oh! I’ve also been diligently keeping up with my etiquette lessons.” Victor stutters out after he immediately let go of his Father’s hand. Feeling like he just committed a grave crime.
“No need. Your tutors have been sending letters of your progress, daily.”
“Oh... then would Father be willing to... to train me - ”
“I’m busy. Ask Lilia or any of your tutors.” And with that, Malleus refused to linger any longer, leaving Victor in the empty room.
Crestfallen, Victor watch his Father go. Knowing that if he bothers him even more, it will just upset him and another storm would loom over the castle for the next few days. His expression immediately morph into a combination of anger and sadness as he stomps away before the staffs could return, not wanting them to see him vulnerable.
As usual, Victor desperately hopes that one day his Father would finally acknowledge him as a son, not as his Prince.
-
Time tend to leave its mark differently on each species.
For creatures with a set of years as flimsy as a lit candle’s flame, humans are creatures who bear the passing of time with a passionate vigor. Time is likened to fireworks; beautiful, bright but only for a short moment.
For Ace, however, time is a constant remainder that he had failed his best friend. Being vulnerable in Night Raven College is a sure way to be taken advantage off and Ace is never known as anything but his brutal honestly, mischievous streaks and habits of getting himself (and others) into trouble.
But when the headmaster announced that he couldn’t find MC anywhere the day after their senior’s graduation, was the moment that he, Deuce and Grim completely lose their composure. Deuce was too shocked to say anything while Ace couldn’t stop screaming alongside Grim.
She couldn’t have just vanish! People don’t work like that!
And even if she finally somehow found a way back to her world, she wouldn’t just leave without saying goodbye!
Ace hated himself as that moment. If only he texted them the night before. Why didn’t he? They usually send stupid texts to one another! If only he kept a closer eye on them. If only she kept Grim close to her.
For once, the headmaster drop all pretence. For once, his guilt laden answer and heavy sags of his shoulders are genuine.
MC is gone and he has no idea how or why. But the three of them refused to gave up just like that. Ever since that day, they would do their best to figure out or research about MC’s fate. Jack and Epel, after finding out what happened, did their best to help out too. But days passed without any leads and with heavy hearts, they accepted that their friend is lost to them.
That was not a good day.
After Ace and Epel managed to pull Deuce and Jack away from one another (Deuce had completely lost it when the wolf boy reluctantly admit that maybe it was best to stop their research), strangely enough, it was Sebek who finally interjects.
They need to accept that MC is gone. Even if they could never gain the closure that they desperately want, it’ll be no good to carry this sort of horrible guilt with them forever. With a long sigh, Sebek told them to find peace with it, even if it’s hard.
Easier said than done. Even now that he’s already an adult and have a son, Ace still couldn’t help but wonder what happened to his friend. He hopes that wherever she is, MC is safe and happy. Anything other than that Ace couldn’t bear to think.
Ace takes out his phone and checks the calendar app. The anniversary of MC’s disappearance is coming. Usually, Ace would cook MC’s favourite food in honour of her memory and over the years, he has gotten pretty good at it. Good enough that it also becomes his son’s favourite dish.
Just as Ace was about to put down his phone and get ready to go out for lunch with his older brother, it suddenly rings.
The name on his phone surprises him. His son rarely calls him ever since he got accepted to Night Raven College. Something about wanting some independence from his old man that Ace retaliates by ruffling his hair because of his boy’s cheekiness.
Ace press the accept button with a grin, knowing that this is going to be good. “What’s up, kiddo? Finally admit that you miss your old man?”
He expects a scoff, maybe a reluctant admittance, hell even his son’s rare bout of innocent honesty. What Ace didn’t expect however, is hearing his son’s frightened shriek.
“Dad! You knew a MC/S before right!? Please tell me you know what to do when she went batshit insane!”
“Whoa, whoa, slow down! What are you talking about? I can barely hear you!”
Ace impatiently wait while pressing the phone close to his ear as he hear his son rapidly talking to someone, shouting apologies and heavy breaths as if he’s currently running.
“Oh Sweet Seven, ok, I think we managed to hide from her.” His son panted. “Yeah, so, I might have, uh accidentally threw my food tray all over this girl and she immediately went supernova. We barely managed to dodge her fireballs!”
Suddenly, Ace felt his heart drop. “Girl? What girl? Night Raven College is an all-boys’ school.” He heard himself reply. Absentmindedly, his mind brought up the memories of his Entrance Ceremony, years ago. Of a girl that looked so lost in her robes as she stood in front of the Mirror of Darkness.
“Renata MC/S. She’s the only girl that ended up a student here. I remembered that you had a friend with that surname so I thought she might be related.”
At that moment, Ace choose to believe it. It’s way too coincidental for it not be. A girl that shares his lost best friend’s surname who also just happend to be the only girl to be accepted in Night Raven College?
But what Ace doesn’t understand is his son’s comment about the girl throwing fireballs. MC doesn’t have magic. So what’s going on?
“Hmm, I usually gave her some space before I apologised to her. And a little bribery never failed too.” Ace advised, recalling how MC reluctantly accepts the candy that he offered after he upsets her.
“That’s not a bad idea, Dad! Will report back the result if I’m not scorched to death.” Ace’s son dryly answer. Some rustling noises and hush whispers can be heard through the phone before his kid ended the call.
Ace is already calling Deuce’s number. He needs to know about this.

I hope I managed to did Malleus and Ace justice in writing them! I’ll get better with writing the rest of the boys once their children are introduce. Because Renata needed friends/allies against Malleus after all~
Speaking of Victor, I was really nervous when I was writing him. Here, he’s not all haughty because deep down, all he want is some praises and love from a Father who only see him as something to appease his court. Not a son. Hope I managed to portray that properly!
(Also, the name of Ace’s son and two others will be reveal in the next oneshot)

I think Ewan loves Greg but he's horrible at showing it due to how he and Logan were raised. He's clearly a somewhat better person than his brother tho
Oh, I agree. Logan and Ewan’s childhood is shrouded in mystery but we do know there was severe abuse. (I’m sure it wasn’t just aimed at Logan)
Tw: abuse, child abuse
Hope you don’t mind me rambling about Ewan and Logan a bit because even though I detest both of them on a personal level they are fascinating characters (a testament to the awesome writing)
I’ve been wanting to do some meta on them for a while now
Disclaimer: Not a defense of either character’s shitty behavior just an analysis on why they do what they do
I’m actually very interested in their childhood and early life? I really wanna know what happened to their sister, Rose and why Logan blames himself for her death.
But yeah I think Logan and Ewan are unfortunately incapable of allowing themselves to be vulnerable. I think they grew up in an environment that punished vulnerability and weakness. I doubt life was something showed to them often if at all.
And this absolutely is why they’re both the way they are when it comes to their kids and grandkids.
And just why they’re..like that in general.
Logan is definitely a worse person but I still don’t think Ewan is as good of a person as he tries to paint himself.
What’s particularly interesting about these two I think is how the effects of the abuse manifest in different ways with them.
I don’t see Ewan as someone who’s ever been physically violent with Greg or Marianne. I just don’t? I mean I could be wrong, we don’t actually know him that well but I don’t think so.
Logan on the other hand as we know has been violent with his kids and grandkids. He’s directly mirroring the abuse inflicted on him but you know what’s actually quite interesting about Logan?
He can’t seem to accept that he’s become his uncle.
When he hits Kendall’s son he immediately tries to downplay it, “I barely even touched him.” (Which as we know is blatantly untrue. Poor kid had a big welt on his face)
More telling is when he hits Roman though.
“Did I even make contact?”
“That’s not something I would do.”
Its pretty obvious gaslighting since its It’s blatantly untrue but I think Logan needs to believe that because he can’t accept he’s become his uncle who hurt him so much.
He cannot face the fact he’s an abuser.
“Everything I’ve done in my life I’ve done for my children.” Is often read as untrue but actually Jesse Armstrong told Brian Cox he means it.
And I don’t doubt that he thinks that.
He blames his kids maladaptive and destructive behavior on spoiling them. And sure, that plays a part (their entitlement, disdain of people lower than them, inability to understand consequences) but the most damage came from his abuse. Both physical and emotional/mental
But I think he wants to believe it’s only the first cause, spoiling them. This has two functions I can think of
1) he can claim his only crime was being too good to his kids and it’s their fault they ended up the way they are not his. He’s placing blame on them not himself.
2) once again he’s avoiding the fact he’s become his uncle. He can’t accept that or face it so he is blatantly ignoring it and focusing on “i spoiled them” instead
I also think there’s some truth to what Ken says about him being jealous of what he’s given his own kids. I can totally see that. He’s jealous they grew up being handed everything when he had to work for it. He looks at them and thinks they don’t deserve it, they didn’t go through half of what I did
(Even though he’s inflicting the same abuse on them but once again this is something he refuses to acknowledge)
Ironically it’s his fault regardless but Logan is not good at accepting blame. (Which makes him blaming himself for his sisters death all the more intriguing)
I think Logan loves his children in the only way he’s capable of loving. It’s a twisted, warped, harmful love that one could argue isn’t love at all but to him? It is. (If all someone’s love does is hurt it means nothing in the end)
I think Ewan too loves Greg in the only way he’s capable. He shows a surprising moment of self awareness actually in his last convo with Greg “I’ve tried to show you as much love and compassion as I’m able.”
Which as we know..he’s not very capable of it. At all it doesn’t mean he doesn’t feel it but he’s not capable of expressing it in a meaningful way. He can’t express it in the way Greg needs from him.
But Ewan is interesting because while he tries to distance himself from his brother at all costs you can still see similarities in how he treats Greg on occasion. He hasn’t escaped their childhood unscathed either. His issues just manifest as more emotionally distant behavior. There’s this general air of disappointment and disdain with him. “You’re an adult..allegedly.”
He rejects Greg’s attempts at affection because he doesn’t know how to handle it. I also think he sees Greg as sucking up most of the time to get something (and he is but he is also genuine at the same time I think)
Vulnerability and emotional matters make him uncomfortable so he just doesn’t deal with them.
Greg calls after him, “I love you” at one point.
Dude literally keeps walking and doesn’t even look back at Greg.
But does he love him? I think..in his way. He just can’t express it or maybe even acknowledge it even to himself without opening a lot of emotional baggage he doesn’t want t (or can’t) deal with,
Besides the emotional distance he also can be manipulative and controlling with Greg. This shows with his inheritance. He tries to use it as a way to get Greg to do what he wants. That’s such a Logan move honestly.
Unfortunately, all he would have had to do is let Greg know he loves him and he would have come home (but it’s the one thing he’s not capable of doing oof)
I can’t say how he treats Marianne because we’ve never seen them interact and know so very little about her.
Her being a female might mean he treats her at least a little differently than he does Greg actually. If we go by how Logan treats Shiv.
For example, interestingly enough Logan is capable of showing Shiv more affection (if you can call it that) than he is his sons. Kendall comments a few times on how Logan treats her semi differently.
He’s still horrible to her of course but his behavior is different with her.
This is probably again a result of the abuse. He struggles with his relationships with other men because his abuser was a man. (He also has these gross patriarchal values)
He treats her differently but at the same time Shiv being a woman devalues her in his eyes because he’s a sexist ass. Despite being the most like him and the most capable of the four? She’ll never be chosen as the heir just for being born a woman. That’s terribly tragic
So, I wonder if Ewan was a similar way with Marianne but (probably?) less sexist. In the sense that it’s easier for him to show affection to his daughter than his grandson.
We have nothing to support or debunk that though just a thought that crossed my mind.
Marianne does seem to have some of her father’s harshness and emotionally distant attitude though so he probably wasn’t too much better with her than he is with Greg. Maybe a little in the way Logan is with Shiv but not enough to avoid damaging her.
He also cuts her off too along with Greg for some reason.
(I’m very curious about her unlabeled, unexplored mental health issues they say she has. I’m not saying he definitely caused them but it’s possible. I’m also curious how that effected their relationship and Marianne’s relationship with Greg. Also how much was Ewan potentially involved in raising Greg because of it? That’s a whole other subject though)
But yeah uncle Noah clearly did a number on the both of them since neither are capable of connecting with their kids or grandkids in a healthy way if they can connect at all. (Ewan)
That doesn’t mean he doesn’t love Greg per se but like you said he can’t show it. I’m not sure he even wants to acknowledge it himself. (Roy’s are allergic to emotional vulnerably)

Dean Winchester is bisexual as fuck headcanons:
Dean has always known he's bisexual. He probably didn't even know bisexuality was A Thing until he was in his 30s though.
And he probably hated putting a label on it. But he knew he liked boys as well as girls since forever.
When he was younger, he probably thought everyone else liked everyone too because "people are hot. why wouldn't you like people?" (13 yo dean, probably)
Teen!Dean cuffed his jeans. I don't have neither proofs nor doubts about this one.
He learned about and internalized homophobia later in his teens. Probably at school, or from John's and other hunters' remarks and jokes. Or both.
He probably thought to himself "well, at least I like girls too, so it's not as bad, I'm not actually queer." and proceeded to suppress his feelings for boys and over compensate because he didn't want to be outed as something that he wasn't. He wasn't gay. He was just him. And people were hot. So he liked people.
Of course, he eventually dated guys in school, but it was always in secrecy, always as friends, always while publicly making out with a cheerleader (a bonus in immature dean's brain). It was the 90s in Middle America. It couldn't have been otherwise.
In some schools though, word caught on, and it was hell for him. He learned soon to keep that side of him hidden from privy eyes if he wanted to be left alone.
John caught him making out with a guy at least once. He might have punched Dean, give the guy time to gather his clothes and run for his live, and gone for a drink. Or. He might have stood there, staring at his son, ask the kid to leave please, and walked out of the room without saying another word. (or it happened twice and he did both)
Either way, he told Sam and Dean to pack their stuff and moved them to another city the very next day, giving Dean no chance to say goodbye.
Dean bi!panicked and tried to explain, but John refused to listen. Refused to even acknowledge what had happened. Every time Dean started "dad, about what you saw...", John would cut him off and remind him of his mission: watch out for Sammy.
He made sure next time his father came home, he found him with a girl instead. John didn't say a word to him either way, but he was polite to the girls.
Dean eventually mastered the art of flirting subtly, walking perfectly that line between figuring out if a guy was into him and outing himself into being beaten senseless.
He walked that line masterfully for years hunting with John and then, later on, with Sam. Neither noticed when he'd come home late after they'd interrogated a particularly handsome suspect.
He always made sure they noticed when he'd come home late, when the suspect was a particularly beautiful girl.
He may or may not have learned to walk that line by being beaten senseless a couple of times.
When he saw Lisa again, he couldn't believe she was still as beautiful as he remembered her.
He cried when he told Lisa he was bi. He kept thinking "she needs to know" and made a whole deal of telling her, dragging the words for half an hour. She just smiled and kissed him and held him as he cried. That was the first night he thought he loved her.
A part of him wished he was actually Ben's father. A large part of him always regretted not being able to have or truly enjoy that apple-pie life.
He knew Jo was bi too since the moment he saw her. They bonded over it. They may or may not have made out once.
He absolutely 100% had A Thing™ with Benny in Purgatory
He absolutely 100% had a threesome with himself and Cas from 2014.
He absolutely 100% had orgies with Crowley when he was a demon
There's a 50% chance he had 1on1 sex with Crowley.
He always thought Jimmy Novak was hot but he didn't begin to fall for Cas until around s6-7
His subtle brand of flirting didn't work with Cas immediately like it had worked with Anna, Benny, and so many other people and creatures he'd met throughout his life, so he just dropped it.
Dean's flirting didn't work because the angel was really bad at social interactions not because he didn't like Dean back, but he wasn't sure so he never dared do anything more than just flirt, out of both trauma and fear of being rejected by his best friend.
He jerks off while smelling the trenchcoat in s8 at least once. He, of course, cries immediately afterwards.
He sees the world around him become increasingly more progressive and he loves it. He'd never come out or go to a parade or get married but he loves that other people can have those options.
He never tells Sam how he feels about men/Cas in particular because why would he risk losing his brother's love and respect like that?
A part of him knows Sam won't care, he's still his brother. But the other part never left that motel room where John caught him making out with his friend.
He's convinced himself he doesn't need to tell anybody because it's his life and who gives a shit. He doesn't need to prove anything.
He eventually gets used to his and Cas' relationship. He loves the dynamic they have, and though he sometimes wishes he could just ravage the angel, he knows it's not an option. So he accepts it and learns to enjoy their relationship for what it is: strictly platonic. So he stops flirting and accepts Cas as his best friend. Nothing more.
This means, he's furious when Cas confesses to him. Of course you'd do this when it's already too late you son of a bitch.
In the middle of the tears and the anger and the regret, he manages to say "and I you, Cas" and his heart breaks when the portal opens, which means those words brought Cas true happiness.
He tries to move on without the angel but it isn't easy. He eventually finds an excuse to die quickly. Some dumb hunt his daddy never finished. Sure, that'll do.
When he finally hears the words "Hello, Dean" once again, he knows himself the happiest man on Earth Heaven.

I adore talking about this with you, it's so cool to be able to agree, everything I've read is just excusing yen lmao.
And with "geralt would rather do and say things Yen wants to avoid pissing her off" LIKE YEAHH I guess I annoyed yen with my answers and she teleported Geralt out of the tower thing, and then threatened to do it again like??? Like he pissed her off so she has fuck all care about him, was over water thank god but like girl??? omg and her refusing to tell the wticher bros what she was planning on doing to Uma, like I get that they would be hesistent but I mean it's cause it's cruel and painful and they have that trauma around that. She just expects everyone to do what she asks when she asks no questions. (Lambert's "I'm not geralt" when he and Yen are kinda arguring, bb red flags)
I just assumed she didn't believe him cause if she did whats her excuse for behaving how she is lmao??? Like you believe he has amnesia and you still blame HIM over the person who maniplated him KAY.
And goodddd that fucking scene when Triss and Yen see Ciri in Kaer Morhen is genuinely the worst, Triss and Yen see their sis/daughter (not gonna get into how weird I find it that Triss considers Ciri her sister and Geralt is Ciris father and she still wants to fuck him, uncomfy) for the first time in forever, she's alive and well and while Triss is hugging Ciri, Yen kisses Geralt and Triss throws a glare at her. I hated that scene so damn much, it's stupid and shouldn't have been there. (aso I get emotions and all but Yen kissing Geralt is so bitchy, idk even full of gratitude and emotion I wouldn't kiss the man who just dumped me lol, especially not in front of a situation like Triss)
I'm still mad about the women, I really wanted to like them fuck meeee
YOU GOT TO THE PART. Oh thank god, anon, I've wanted to talk about this since we started these conversations lol
Okay, let's set the scene, shall we? You arrive to find that, with our playthroughs anyway, your ex has barged into your home. I say "barged in" because although we (Geralt) know that Yen's help is necessary and she'll be tagging along, the other witchers living there are given no prior warning and, according to Vesemir, Yen teleported in without so much as a "Hello." She then immediately starts ordering everyone around like her servants, failing to explain the situation beyond there being a curse that they have to help with. No, this isn't negotiable. She (still being an ex) takes your old room for herself, which just happens to be the biggest in the keep, and proceeds to toss a bed out the window. It's only later that Vesemir recalls that Triss used to use it, so prior to that everyone apparently just accepted that Yen was destroying their stuff for no understandable reason. Classic Yen. You go upstairs to find her cursing a blue streak at her failed experiment and when you try to lighten the mood, she snaps at you. If you're of the opinion that Yen's every order must be obeyed, this is when you're supposed to drop the conversation entirely, because she said to. Except, funnily enough, you'd like to know why she's up here being The Worst Guest Ever and destroying your property. She tries to justify this by saying that destroying a bed is better than how she could be dealing with her anger over Triss. Be grateful and all that. Except, it's not really about Triss, is it? The line is "You shagged my friend. For upwards of a year. I don't know what your witcher's code says on the matter, but ordinary folk would consider it obscene, base, vile." The blame is not on the woman who knowingly manipulated Geralt into having sex with her while he was vulnerable, it's on Geralt himself! He is the "obscene, base, vile" person for... daring to have amnesia? And when you point that out - "Yen... told you already. I lost my memory" - she yells that she's "lost [her] patience" and teleports you into a lake! This is, apparently, how she really wants to deal with her anger. Not by destroying beds, but by attacking you for things outside of your control. And I do consider it an attack. Yen is meant to be insanely powerful, she is leveraging her magic as a weapon here, particularly when Geralt has spent the whole game commenting on how much he hates portals. Yen knows this. Not just because he says so in her presence, but because she frequently reads his mind, something else he's expressed discomfort with. She's not just demonstrating her power (controlling) and sending him away when he makes a point she doesn't want to acknowledge (immature), she chooses the one thing she knows makes Geralt uncomfortable, perhaps even scared. Then when you've swum your way back to shore and returned to, despite all this, begin her list of chores, she makes a dry comment about how next time she just might drop you high enough for the fall to be fatal. With the next time implied to be, you know, the next time you disagree with her. The next time you dare to do anything other than agree with her every belief and jump at her every command.
The fandom interpretation of all this: "Lol Geralt getting yeeted is so funny. And their banter is just 😍"
Me:
Tumblr media
You mentioned red flags and yeah like that ENTIRE SCENE is a crimson banner for me. I mean, by all means, love the fictional ships that are super messed up (I often do), but it astounds me how many fans honestly think this is just a cute interaction with absolutely no problems attached. Nothing to question here, folks. I've mentioned before, but last I discussed this in depth the asker wanted to know if I'd been an asshole to Yen and... that's it. That's the perspective. Any disagreement with her, any pushback, anything that's not complete, blind obedience is something she will not permit AND something most fans take as a given. If you're not doing what Yen tells you to, you're automatically the asshole, and if you're the asshole, you automatically deserve any punishment she chooses to dish out.
Comic spoilers coming up if you want to skip, but this is made abundantly clear in "Curse of Crows." Yen and Geralt are at their best in the moment below, enjoying one another's company on a nice day. Yen asks if Geralt wants to swim and he says nah, he'd rather watch her. She appears to like that idea and, indeed, swims naked while Geralt admires from the shore.
Tumblr media
Actually cute right? I really liked this moment! They're cuddled up together and exchanging smiles. It's a rare moment of peace where I can believe that they truly care for one another, outside of passionate sex and not wanting the other dead. Finally, something beyond that incredibly low bar.
...except Yen starts flirting with a young man who shows up, invites him to travel with them, all while refusing to explain why she's interested in his company. The sudden third wheel is clearly bothering Geralt, but Yen continues to ignore his questioning. The answer she finally gives later that night?
Tumblr media
She did it purely to mess with Geralt! It's his "just desserts" for "refusing to swim with [her]." She is "not one to be refused - I thought you needed reminding" by giving him "a flick on the nose." When I say that Yen treats Geralt like a dog I mean she literally treats him like a dog. He's a servant who must jump at her every command and if he doesn't, he'll punished for disobedience. He might not even know why he's being punished for a long stretch because Yen enjoys making him think she's a normal person capable of accepting that he doesn't feel like swimming right now - insert the Kaer Morhen scene where she wants to go have sex upstairs, but Geralt wants to catch up with the brothers he hasn't seen in an age here - only to reveal that actually she's made their formerly nice outing uncomfortable because he needs to be put in his place. All of which is followed by, "So... willing to join me now?" The message is very clear! Geralt had better get his ass in that tub unless he wants to be punished some more. Whether he wants a bath right now or not is inconsequential.
This is also the run where she scares the women Geralt was with, despite them being separated right now. Why? "I could."
Tumblr media
Claims that Geralt is allowed to return to his companions (who he actually waves away) only for him to realize she's cast a spell to burn him with the water. Yen loves pretending she's okay with things only to punish Geralt for them later - sometimes with physical punishments. And what would have happened if the women had actually joined him again? Do witchers weather hot water better than the average courtesan? Who knows, but Yen clearly doesn't care who might get hurt.
Tumblr media
Just like her time in Skellige and at Kaer Morhen, she refuses to explain what's going on. She just expects people to obey her, so-called loved ones included. Geralt was to get her cider, and arrive before her bath went cold, not question what they're doing on this dangerous hunt. He's a servant.
Tumblr media
And my favorite, petty moment: transforming her awful inn food into a lavish meal without offering to do the same for either Geralt or Ciri.
Tumblr media
"But, Clyde, that's just the comics. They're not really canon." Nah, questions of canon aside, this is 100% Yen's characterization. She's prideful. Immature. Beyond controlling. And punishes anyone who dares to tell her "No." Fans are always pointing out that she's meant to be horrible, she could have been a villain in another life, like any of that explains why I'm supposed to root for this relationship or enjoy her existence outside of being a complex character. Yen is interesting, but she's interesting in a "I can't wait to see her get her own just desserts" way. Not "Wooo now I get to watch this story ignore her behavior again to push a True Love narrative."
She punished Geralt frequently during their first meeting, she punishes him whenever they get together, and, I think, she punished him during the reunion with Ciri. Given our playthroughs, do we really think that after breaking up with her and all this fury over Triss - an anger so deep she destroyed the bed and attacked Geralt - she's just overcome with such joy that she forgets they're not together anymore and forgets the anger she's been nurturing for years? Yen doesn't forget. She's staring at Ciri during that moment, right where Triss is currently running towards them, and then after a considering look at Geralt pulls him in for that kiss. That was calculated. She did that to make a claim she no longer had. To punish them both: make Triss uncomfortable by playing at the "perfect" family reunion; make Geralt uncomfortable by kissing him when she knows he doesn't feel the same way. But of course, the popular reading is that she just loves him so much she couldn't help herself. Riiight.
It's just all SO BAD. (Including, as you say, the ickiness of having Triss lusting after Geralt and referring to Ciri as "little sis.") I love a lot of the women in Witcher - Cerys is a fave, Ciri, Saskia, Philippa, Keira, etc. - but the two I'm supposedly meant to fall in love with are just the worst lol.
Basically:
Half the fandom: TEAM TRISS 🤬
The other half: TEAM YEN🤬
Me: TEAM REGIS 😭

I have two unpopular opinions 1) if roles were reversed and Dean was the one drinking blood, Dean stans would have excused the shit out of it and even liked it. 2) if none of Dean's trauma was addressed and ignored (like most of Sam's trauma is) Dean stans would fucking riot.
intensely aggressively strongly agree | strongly agree | agree | neutral | disagree | strongly disagree
(sorry in advance, I ranted A Lot)
2) I'm gonna start with this one. YESYESYES I mean dean stans are already constantly unironically whining that dean's traumas never get acknowledged (EVEN THO IT'S LITERALLY NOT TRUE, HIS TRAUMAS ALREADY GET ACKNOWLEDGED MORE THAN ENOUGH. EVERY TIME HE STUBS HIS TOE. EVERYONE IS CODDLING HIM AND ASKING HIM HOW HE'S DOING. HALF THE SHOW IS LITERALLY DEAN MANPAINING ABOUT HIS TRAUMAS - but apparently that's not enough for them, so I can't imagine the uproar if it was actually true). meanwhile sam's traumas either get ignored or they get treated like a fucking joke? well I guess it's just another tuesday
I've also seen a lot of dean stans moaning about sam "forcing dean to talk about his traumas", because apparently sam actually acknowledging dean's traumas and encouraging him to open up about them and being always supportive af because he actually cares is unacceptable (and I'm willing to bet that if he didn't acknowledge them, they'd still complain because sam literally can't win no matter what he does)
but dean ignoring and never acknowledging sam's traumas (not even when he's directly responsible for said trauma) or making them all about himself (mystery spot, hallucifer, soullessness, gadreel possession) or vilifying and victim blaming him (being force-fed demon blood, soullessness, gadreel possession) or using said traumas to justify his actions (hallucifer) or making cruel, disgusting and unnecessary jokes about them ("you had a girl inside you for a whole week" [meg possession] "you know how wrong that sounds, right?" "you've like an episode of teen mom" [gadreel possession - let's talk about how these two in particular are a thousand times more disgusting than the rest since he's actually joking about a violation he's directly responsible for] "smores foot" [bmol torture] "crybaby pie" [cole torture] "you saw the [devil's] john [or butt]?" [the cage] dick of death jokes right, left and center) is perfectly acceptable behaviour
1) again YESYESYESYES. I mean, this isn't even a hypothesis, we already have an extremely similar storyline for dean - the moc - and everyone made excuses for him and glorified him, even tho he was worse than demon blood sam in every possible way
actually I wrote a rant on reddit a couple of days ago about the awful double standards between demon blood sam and moc/demon dean. I'm gonna paste it here because I'm Bitter Af
comparing demon blood sam and moc/demon demon is ironically and hysterically bitter because, logically, no matter how you spin it, s4 sam is much more understandable and easy to sympathize with - both in intentions and actions - and should have the moral high ground, while s9-10 dean was flat out awful and damaging. yet both the show and the fandom crucify sam and treat dean as some poor victim or a great martyred hero who made some great noble sacrifice and I just... don't get it. so let's break it down:
> reason for drinking blood / getting the moc
- sam: exorcising demons without harming the host, thus saving people (which apparently isn't that relevant to dean) and killing lilith, first because she sent his brother to hell and then to stop the apocalypse and because she was an actual threat
- dean: because he couldn't face the consequences of his actions after the gadreel mess and decided he wanted to kill abaddon, who, at that point, wasn't even their problem (she only became a real problem in 9x17, when they learned about the soul harvesting, so unless dean has some sort of prophetic knowledge, he had no reason to take the moc in 9x11) and was a real threat to no-one but crowley
> trusting / working with a demon
- sam: I've already said this before, but ruby was a master manipulator and went to extraordinary lengths to gain sam's trust and even managed to fool every single demon (aside from lilith obviously). as far as both brothers knew, she's done nothing but help them, saved their lives multiple times and helped them save others, fixed the colt for them, was there for sam after dean died, is basically hunted by other demons for helping them, has risked her life for them several times and even got tortured for them and was helping sam to go after the demon who was trying to start the apocalypse. sam had absolutely no valid reason not to trust her. I'd really like someone to look me in the eyes and tell me that, if anyone did everything I mentioned above, you wouldn't trust them
- dean: trusted a demon who they knew is extremely untrustworthy and self-serving and only does what's in his best interest and has screwed them over one way or another every time they worked together and has hurt people they're close to
> level of manipulation involved
- sam: as I already said, ruby was a master manipulator and spent two years carefully manipulating sam to get him to do what she wanted. not the mention everything azazel did to get him there, lilith pushing his buttons at every turn to get him to kill her and the manipulation from heaven as well, who were lying to the boys at every turn
- dean: while crowley was manipulating him, the level of manipulation isn't remotely comparable to the one sam went through is s4. crowley saying “let’s kill abaddon” and pretending to be afraid of cain is not comparable to a plan that’s been set on motion since the beginning of time and crowley wasn't the only one involved in dean getting the mark. cain was involved as well and he wasn't manipulating him (unlike sam, who was being manipulated by everyone involved). on the contrary, he was completely honest with dean and even offered to tell him more about the mark and DEAN REFUSED (like can you imagine how many problems would've been avoided if dean sat on his ass for one minute and listened to cain's warning???)
> actions
- sam: in s4 sam was trying to use something that was forced on him when he was six months old, and that he hated about himself, to do good because he felt like he had to and was literally SAVING PEOPLE and trying to stop the apocalypse, I literally still don't get why he's vilified for it????? in s4 sam killed a total of one (1) person: the possessed nurse and while that was obviously bad, 1) he was clearly upset about it and 2) I still haven't seen one (1) valid reason for why she's any different from the demons dean drained and killed in swan song or from any of the other possession victims they killed with the demon knife or the angel blade
- dean: meanwhile dean was going around murdering people left and right (also another example of fandom double standards: everyone defends moc!dean and demon!dean because "he only killed bad people" - which isn't even true, but let's say he was - and yet, I seem to remember a certain kitsune named amy pond, who was ALSO killing bad people (and not for the lolz of it, but to save her son) and dean killed her and the fandom defended him back then as well. is killing bad people okay only if dean does it?), tried to kill sam, beat cas bloody
> keeping secrets
- sam: keeping his powers and the demon blood a secret was his god given right, since it affected no-one but sam himself and the demons he was exorcising. not to mention, he had pretty good reasons for not telling dean, considering his bigotry, black and white views and judgmental attitude. and yet, he was, and still is, vilified by both the show and the fandom for keeping secrets and dean even punched him for not telling him about his abilities (something in particular about this point that absolutely drives me up the wall: in 4x04 sam accidentally revealed that he knew about what azazel did to him and dean got mad at him for not telling him about it, even tho dean himself found out about it and didn't tell sam and no-one - not the show, not the fandom and not even sam and dean themselves - notices the hypocrisy. they're literally saying that it's okay for DEAN to keeps something about SAM a secret from SAM, but not okay for SAM to keep something about HIMSELF a secret from DEAN. if you don't think that's super fucked up, then I don't know what to tell you)
- dean: no-one says anything about dean keeping the effects of the mark a secret, even tho, unlike s4 sam, lying about the mark directly affected other people and put everyone around him in danger, including sam
> general treatment
- sam: everyone treated sam like a monster in s4, dean straight up called him a monster, told him he'd hunt him if he didn't know him, forced him into a torture-detox that almost killed him, tried to control him and refused to see his point. at the end of s4 sam apologized to dean. in s5 dean repeatedly told him that he doesn't trust him. sam was blamed for everything that happened in s4 and his mistake kept getting brought up even seasons later
- dean: everyone and their mom was coddling him and helping to get rid of the mark. everyone considered the mark to be the problem, not dean himself. sam was unconditionally supportive. dean never once apologized to sam for any of the awful things he said/did to him while he had the mark. sam never once blamed dean for anything that happened in s9-10 and instead placed the blame on crowley and none of the things dean did ever got brought up again
> at the end of each arc
- sam: paid for his mistake by sacrificing himself and jumped into the cage and saved the world and got tortured by the devil himself for centuries
- dean: paid for his mistake by having his mother brought back to life

Deck the Halls
This is a re-post! I kind of wondered why this post got almost no notes, especially since you guys really seemed to like my How He Shows You Affection: Tsukishima version, the fact that it doesn’t show up in tags answered that I guess. I hope you enjoy it, even it we’re well after Christmas now 😭😭😭. Notes: 4

My part of the secret Santa collab for the Haikyuhagakure server! I had Rue-Rue @animeanxiety happy holidays and I hope you enjoy it!
Also quick but also huge thanks to everyone who looked this over for me you’re all amazing and I couldn’t have done it without you!
“So where do we start?” you asked your boyfriend cheerfully, eying the boxes scattered around the room, nearly bouncing with excitement.
“Anywhere is fine,” Tsukishima told you decidedly less thrilled than you were at the prospect of the task in front of you, “You know you don’t actually have to help with this right?”
“But I want to help,” you told him honestly, “It will be fun.”
He gave you an incredibly dubious look at that, but you were completely undeterred, “Come on Kei, where’s your Christmas spirit?”
“Upstairs sleeping, the way I wanted to be,” he retorted with a huff, folding his arms across his chest.
“It’s not that early,” you told him rolling your eyes at his petulance, gently tugging at his arms until he caved and unfolded them for you, twining your hands with his and peering up into his face as you scolded, “Don’t be a Grinch Kei, come on let’s have a little fun at least.”
“Just what is so fun about Christmas Decorating?” he asked you a put-upon sigh, “It’s a whole lot of work to put it up, and then a whole lot of work to take down again.”
“It gets you in the mood, the festive spirit,” you answered immediately ignoring the way he rolled his eyes and pressing on, “Besides it could be worse right? You could have to do this all by yourself, but instead you have me here to help you.”
Tsukishima huffed at that, but didn’t argue, which you knew meant that you’d won. Honestly, you’d been looking forward to today a lot, having your boyfriend’s family invite you over to partake in their family Christmas traditions meant a lot to you. Apparently, his dad was American which meant they did a few different things and believed the holiday revolved more around family than it did around romance like most believed in Japan.
That you’d been invited made you feel giddy and warm because it made your relationship seem that much more real and serious. Tsukishima wasn’t one to be overt in how he felt, but despite that you could tell this was something big and important.
You really wanted to make a good impression on the rest of his family too. You hadn’t met them more than a handful of times, your relationship still fairly new, but you hoped they liked you. They’d certainly seemed welcoming, and even now his mom was actually in the kitchen, baking up a storm, including Christmas cookies that the kind older woman had assured you she was looking forward to having you try. The whole house smelled like warm cinnamon and pine needles from her baking and the tree, and it was incredibly pleasant. Now if only you could get your boyfriend into the Christmas spirit.
“Oy,” he called, diverting your attention as he gently poked you in the forehead, “Don’t think so hard or you’ll combust. Come on, we’ll start with the lights.”
“Okay,” you agreed as you beamed unable to help yourself, excited to get started and that he was finally showing some initiative. He scoffed and looked away from you, but you could see the faintest pink tinge to his cheeks, one that made your heart feel warm.
“Oh! Do you have something we can play music on?” you asked, suddenly, reminded of something else that would add to the festive mood that you hoped your boyfriend would enjoy. The look he gave you told you exactly what he thought of such a ridiculous question, but he did show you where you could hook up your iPod.
“You better not be playing any of the annoying Christmas carols, shortcake,” he warned firmly as you got things set up, though the warning was softened by the nickname hed christened you with shortly after you’d started dating, the one that never failed to make you melt despite its teasing nature.
“Would I do that to you?” you asked him innocently, earning a scoff in return that made you giggle, “Don’t worry Kei, I think you’ll like this.”
He raised an eyebrow but didn’t object as you hit play, the upbeat synthetic tones of Manheim Steamroller’s Christmas album playing throughout the living room. Your boyfriend cocked his head for a minute, listening before nodding in acknowledgment, and gestured for you to follow him over to the tree that was set up neatly in one corner of the room. It was the only gesture of approval you were going to get, but it made you happy all the same, well aware he would’ve told you flat out if he hated it.
Together the two of you worked together to put the lights up around the tree passing the cord back and forth as you hummed along with the music, earning an amused look from Tsukishima, though he didn’t comment for once.
Once you had the lights on the two of you set to work getting the ornaments on. Tsukishima wasn’t all that enthusiastic, letting you do most of the work, even as he threw in the occasional snarky comment, and smirked at you when you weren’t able to reach the very top branches of the tree to decorate.
“Hey looking good!” the comment distracted you from trying to hang your ornament and you nearly dropped it, bobbling it a bit before letting out a breath of relief once you had it safely in your hands again.
“Ni-san,” your boyfriend acknowledged, looking a bit disgruntled at the new arrival, “Weren’t you supposed to be decorating outside?”
“I finished,” Akiteru told him cheerfully clearly undaunted by his younger brother’s disapproval, “And I figured I’d come in and see how the two of you were doing.”
“You mean mom kicked you out of the kitchen for snitching cookies, so you decided to come bother us,” your Kei sighed looking incredibly put upon.
“You caught me,” His brother admitted with a sheepish laugh, completely unbothered by the accusation. “Looks like you could use a hand though, you haven’t even put up the fun decorations yet.”
“Fun decorations?” you repeated curiously. Honestly, you’d just been following your boyfriend’s directives up until this point, letting him show you which boxes to grab things from and hanging ornaments where you thought they looked nice.
“No,” Kei said his tone completely and utterly flat, though you could see the faintest tinge of pink on his cheeks, “This looks fine, there’s no need for more.”
“Come on little brother,” Akiteru teased with a wide grin, “You can’t go leaving out the sentimental ornaments. They’re cute, and I’m sure your girlfriend would love to see them.”
Both of them turned to look at you, and you couldn’t help the sheepish look you gave your boyfriend, unable to help your curiosity and clearly conveying that you very much would like to see them. He heaved an enormous sigh looking extremely put upon, but in the end,  he conceded to the pleading eyes you were sending him.
You immediately bounded over to him and Akiteru who was absolutely delighted to share all kinds of stories, though your boyfriend was more than happy to pay him back in kind with what stories he knew about his brother.
They both had several of the usual ornaments they’d both made as kids in class to give to their parents, along with a very cute baby hand and foot print set in plaster for each of them. However, the best were some of the ones your boyfriend had given his brother, most of which said things like Ni-san is the best, much to Kei’s complete and utter mortification, though he refused to respond to Akiteru’s teasing about it.
The boys both had ornament collections too, ones that their parents bought for them each year. Akiteru’s were all different trains, something he’d apparently been fascinated with as a child, and your boyfriend’s were all dinosaurs. Some of them were more on the cool side, clearly from later years, but the ones from when he was a child were all cute, a little cartoon t-rex with a Santa hat. Apparently, his favorite had been a flying dinosaur that apparently your boyfriend had insisted was named after him when he was little, the Ar-Kei-Opteryrx, which you couldn’t help but find completely and utterly adorable much to his mortification.
“Does the team know about the Ar-Kei-Opteryx?” you asked during a brief interlude when Akiteru had been called away by their mother to help with something in the kitchen, unable to help the giggles that spilled from your lips as you asked, thrilled that you’d actually managed to get something like blackmail on your normally cool and composed boyfriend.
“No, and they’re not going to find out either,” he warned you firmly, giving you a thoroughly displeased look.
“I won’t tell,” you promised sincerely, “Your secret is safe with me, even if it was really cute.”
“Whatever,” he brushed off, his tone and face indifferent, but his red ears and neck telling a completely different story.
You grinned feeling light and happy, as you finished putting the last ornament on the tree, and stepped back to admire your work. It looked nice, and you couldn’t help but feel rather proud of your work. Until you realized rather abruptly that something was missing.
“Ah, do you have a topper?” you asked, surprised you’d forgotten what was essentially the pièce de résistance of a Christmas tree.
“Here,” he told you, casually unboxing a rather gorgeous moon and star topper and passing it to you. You accepted the pretty piece gingerly, admiring it and the way it caught the light.
“It’s really fitting for your family,” you told him, partly amused and partly awed at decoration in your hands.
“I suppose so,” he told you with a careless shrug, before ordering, “Go put it on.”
You moved to do as he said only to belatedly realize there was no way you were going to be able to do so, the tree far too tall. That and you didn’t want to risk breaking any of the ornaments. You turned to him, unable to keep the slight pout off your face, earning an amused huff from your boyfriend.
“You really are a shortcake, shortcake,” he teased with a smirk.
“Kei, help please,” you begged, giving him the best puppy dog look you could muster, well aware he was a bit of a sucker for it, even if he would pretend otherwise.
“Helpless shortcake,” he drawled, clearly amused, though he did move to a hall closet to pull out a small step ladder for you, bringing it over for you to use. Much to your surprise he didn’t move away once he set it up, lingering close, his hands hovering over your waist, not quite touching but close enough you could almost feel the warmth of them through your shirt as he made sure you didn’t topple over on accident.
Carefully you placed the moon topper on the tree, ensuring it wouldn’t fall, and was nice and sturdy before turning to smile down at your boyfriend, feeling warm and accomplished. He huffed, but you could see the tiniest of smiles hovering by his lips as he carefully helped you down from the step ladder.
“Wow, you must really like her, little brother,” Akiteru teased, announcing his presence once you were safely down on the ground again, which you were immensely thankful for as his sudden reappearance made you squeak in surprise.
“Ni-san…” Kei tried to interject, only to be overridden as Akiteru continued.
“He’s been the one to put the topper on, and insistent about doing it himself since he was about ten I think. You must be pretty special for him to surrender the privilege,” he declared with a pleased grin.
“Really Kei?” you asked feeling both warmed by the idea and a little contrite, “you could’ve done it. I wouldn’t have minded!”
“Tch,” your boyfriend clicked his tongue and turned away from the two of you, but he didn’t protest or deny it, instead brushing off the rather sweet gesture, “You wanted to, and it’s not that big a deal.”
“You’re the best Kei,” you told him sincerely, seeing right through him, “Thanks.”
“You’re too easy to please shortcake,” he told you teasingly, shaking his head in faux disappointment, though you could tell he was actually rather pleased himself.
“Anyway, mom sent me to get you guys,” Akiteru informed the two of you, glancing between you with a content smile on his face, and something that looked a bit like mischief dancing in his eyes, “She wants our help decorating cookies.”
Apparently, you weren’t the only one to see it either, given the extremely suspicious look your boyfriend shot his brother, but the two of you still followed obediently after him into the kitchen. It smelled absolutely wonderful, like sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon, enough to make your mouth water.
“You’re just in time,” his mother informed you, offering you both a sweet smile, “Come on over and we’ll get started.”
“Wait!” Akiteru protested immediately from his spot on the opposite side of the kitchen, where he was leaning against the counter. His golden eyes, so similar to your boyfriend’s and yet completely different at the same time were gleaming with mischief as the two of you both froze in your tracks, surprised by the outburst.
“You’re forgetting something,” he informed the two of you rather smugly.
You glanced at your boyfriend, completely puzzled over what he might be talking about. Kei however looked just as puzzled as you did, right up until Akiteru pointed up. Both of you followed his finger, only to find a clump of very familiar berries hanging above your heads, mistletoe. You immediately looked to your boyfriend, a faint blush on your cheeks at the implication only to find him glaring at his brother.
“You set us up,” he pointed out flatly.
“Come on little brother, it’s tradition! Don’t you want to give your girlfriend a smooch?” Akiteru teased, their mother watching on with an amused smile.
“No,” your boyfriend snapped immediately, making your heart sink in your chest, a little stung by his quick and fierce rejection, “Not in front of you.”
“Too shy huh?” Akiteru asked faux sympathetic, though you noted he did cast you a quick apologetic glance, “That’s fine! Guess I’ll just have to kiss her for you then.”
Before you could protest that you would very much like a say in this, and didn’t particularly want a kiss from your boyfriend’s older brother you found your face held carefully between Kei’s large hands. You blinked up at him surprised, as he searched you for any sign of rejection. Finding none he dipped his head and pressed a quick, sweet, surprisingly gentle kiss to the corner of your mouth before pulling away abruptly and reaching up to yank the mistletoe off the door frame.
“There,” he informed his brother snidely, the sharpness of his words a contrast to the enormous blush on his face as he threw the decoration at Akiteru who caught it, looking a little surprised but entirely amused, “Now keep your stupid mistletoe to yourself and stay away from my girlfriend.”
“Alright,” his brother conceded as you blushed up a storm, a little shocked that he’d actually done it, and in front of his brother and mom too. Trying not to spontaneously combust as Akiteru fluttered a sly wink in your direction, you realized he’d egged his brother on on purpose. He had no intention of actually trying to kiss you, shooting your impression of him as the nicer of the two brothers all to pieces, “I won’t kiss your cute girlfriend little brother don’t worry.”
Whatever he might’ve said in response to that was interrupted by the sound of the front door opening and a call that let you know the last member of the Tsukishima family was home, followed by an exclamation of how nice everything looked.
“Did I miss something?” Kei’s dad asked hesitantly as he popped into the kitchen, glancing suspiciously between his two sons and your face, which was still berry red. Of the two Tsukishima parents he was definitely more like your boyfriend from what you’d seen, highly intelligent and calculating. It made him an excellent businessman, and also according to your boyfriend, meant he always knew when he or Akiteru got into mischief.
“Welcome home dear,” his mother greeted, effectively distracting the man and saving you all from having to explain what had happened, “We’re just about to start on decorating Christmas cookies.”
“Sounds good,” he told her as he smiled affectionately at her, the look in his eyes making it very clear how much he cared about her, and making you want to swoon at how cute that was. Clearly going along with her and not asking.
The group of you quickly settled in, to make your cookies, your boyfriend not bothering to do all that much, spending far too much time on every cookie and Akiteru snitching several of them before they could be properly iced. He still occasionally teased the two of you as you worked, right up until Kei started firing back asking where Akiteru’s girlfriend was. It was a bit chaotic, but as Kei slipped a sly arm around the back of your chair you couldn’t help but feel warm and glad. Quietly you wondered if he’d be willing to participate in some of your own holiday traditions, feeling giddy and joyful as you looked at him and hoped there would be many more years to come of celebrating together.

There's a dilemma that you Dany morons don't think about. If Dany is going to be seen as an heir she needs Dorne's support because they have gender equality. Without it Dany is behind Aegon, son of Rhaegar and Stannis, great-grandson of Aegon V. And after that there's even the chance of Robert's bastards being legitimized so she's behind Mya Stone, Bella, Gendry and Edric Storm. Dany has nothing without Dorne. But you idiots can't even acknowledge that she fucked up majorly with Quentyn Martell.

Right, you asked for a history lesson so you’re gonna get it.
George R. R. Martin has based ASoIaF on a lot of things, but it’s fair to say he has been most heavily influenced by British/ English history. The laws in Westeros are very similar to medieval England, the geography is similar, the Dance of the Dragons is literally The Anarchy (the war of succession between Empress Matilda and King Stephen), the main conflict is based on the Wars of the Roses, etc.
Succession laws in Westeros are one of the things he took from English history, besides Dorne. The main part of this was something called male primogeniture, which he has copied into the series pretty much unchanged. Male primogeniture meant a female member of the dynasty (or, more specifically a dynast’s daughter, i.e. the daughter of the ruling monarch/ head of the family) only inherited if she had no living brothers and her brothers had no living children themselves. After that, older siblings come before younger siblings, etc. Dorne practices absolute primogeniture, where the eldest child of the dynast will inherit, no matter what gender, and they will always come before younger siblings/ anyone from extended branches of the family.
Having educated you on that fact, let’s educate you on your Stannis/ Baratheon claim which is honestly the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. No one has brought this up before cause it’s really that fucking stupid. Stannis has a claim because of Robert, but you, sir, decided to base this on Targaryen lineage, the ruling dynasty for 300 years, so let’s go.
Obviously the daughter of the dynast (Aerys) comes before the great-grandson of the king from 50 years ago. Stannis is at least 3 generations removed from any claim to a Targaryen throne. Even in male primogeniture, the daughter of the dynast will always come before cousins/ uncles/ nephews/ any extended family. It’s why Matilda fought for her claim against her cousin, it’s why Mary I became Queen over Jane Grey and other male relatives, why Elizabeth became Queen over Philip II and Mary Queen of Scots and a bunch of male relatives, it’s why Mary II and Queen Anne both ruled, it’s why William of Orange only became King with the express permission of Anne herself who was the rightful heir. I could go on. I don’t know where this idea that Stannis has a better claim comes from cause it makes no sense. Female or not the child of the ruling monarch comes before extended family. Always. That extended family may contest it because they’re misogynists, but that doesn’t actually weaken the claim itself.
The same goes for Robert’s bastards but even more so as they are illegitimate, meaning they technically have no claim to anything at all until someone legitimises them. And by someone, I mean the monarch. Tommen will never do that and I don’t see any reason why any other claimants would either, unless it’s to put someone in charge of Storm’s End. To use another example, this is why Henry Fitzroy was never considered as a future king even as Henry VIII struggled endlessly for a son and both his daughters’ legitimacy was called into question. He was a bastard. End of story. They have less of a claim than Stannis, and Stannis has basically none. Besides, to make a claim to the throne that is weaker, you need a strong army. Robert’s bastards have none, Stannis is losing more of his every day, meanwhile Dany has the strongest army in the series. She has the strongest claim and the power to back it up.
Now, onto Aegon. Going off the law I’ve just explained, Aegon would come before Dany. There are a few problems in universe, however. For a start, Aegon is likely an imposter, and so would have no claim. See Lambert Simnel and Perkin Warbeck as good examples of this sort of thing. The second is that Aerys (likely) disinherited Rhaegar and his children, passing over him in favour of Viserys as his heir.
When Prince Rhaegar and his new wife chose to take up residence on Dragonstone instead of the Red Keep, rumors flew thick and fast across the Seven Kingdoms. Some claimed that the crown prince was planning to depose his father and seize the Iron Throne for himself, whilst others said that King Aerys meant to disinherit Rhaegar and name Viserys heir in his place. Nor did the birth of King Aerys's first grandchild, a girl named Rhaenys, born on Dragonstone in 280 AC, do aught to reconcile father and son. When Prince Rhaegar returned to the Red Keep to present his daughter to his own mother and father, Queen Rhaella embraced the babe warmly, but King Aerys refused to touch or hold the child and complained that she "smells Dornish." - TWOIAF
Had any whiff of proof come into their hands to show that Prince Rhaegar was conspiring against his father, King Aerys's loyalists would most certainly have used it to bring about the prince's downfall. Indeed, certain of the king's men had even gone so far as to suggest that Aerys should disinherit his "disloyal" son, and name his younger brother heir to the Iron Throne in his stead. Prince Viserys was but seven years of age, and his eventual ascension would certainly mean a regency, wherein they themselves would rule as regents. - TWOIAF
Birds flew and couriers raced to bear word of the victory at the Ruby Ford. When the news reached the Red Keep, it was said that Aerys cursed the Dornish, certain that Lewyn had betrayed Rhaegar. He sent his pregnant queen, Rhaella, and his younger son and new heir, Viserys, away to Dragonstone, but Princess Elia was forced to remain in King's Landing with Rhaegar's children as a hostage against Dorne. - TWOIAF
The last passage is especially damning. If it was simply that Rhaegar died, his children would be next in line to the throne over his brother, as I have explained. But Viserys is clearly stated as Aerys’ “new heir”, meaning he passed over Aegon and Rhaenys, deposing them to put Viserys as next in line. Before anyone says this can’t be done/ doesn’t count, it does. Henry VIII deposed both Mary and Elizabeth after removing their mothers and it was completely valid/ recognised. It’s why people called them both “bastards” throughout their lives. He also had to undo that decree before he died, meaning they were both able to rule after Edward. If Henry himself hadn’t undone it, they never would have ruled. So, Aegon’s status as disinherited will stand, even if he is really Rhaegar’s son. Aegon now has an army, meaning he can back up his weak claim, but so does Dany. And the army doesn’t mean his claim is better, either.
Dany doesn’t need Dorne for her claim, only for extra support when backing up her very valid claim to the throne. As I have just explained to you, Dany is currently the person with the best claim to the throne who is not currently sitting on it. Besides, she didn’t “fuck up” anything with Quentyn. She accepted him into her court graciously and did all she could to keep his support, foster a relationship with him and Doran/ Dorne by extension, shy of calling of her own engagement which would have meant the deaths of all her people. Everything Quentyn did after that was because he wrongly felt he was letting his father down and was his own mistake entirely. None of it is on her.
In summary, Dany has the best claim and the power to back it up, Aegon (might) have second best claim (though it’s highly unlikely, in fact pretty much impossible as he was disinherited) with slightly less power to back it up and Stannis has one of the worst claims without the power to back it up. Hope you enjoyed your history lesson! Read the books next time and you could avoid embarrassing moments like this 😬🤗
