this shot of sawashiro is simply breathtaking to me!!!
like. seeing him crash and burn after hearing that his son has never trusted him, realizing that the chance he took by sending a tip geomijul didn't pay off, that the "miracle" he asked for is too late (just like he is). It truly is something to watch!!
to me, this really is the scene to show how incredibly miserable this asshole is and the cherry on top is how the way he sits is the exact same pose the corpse next to him has got.

Below Deck AU, yesssssss
i cannot describe how desperate i am to actually get this one written
basic set up is as follows:
lena, upon gaining access to her trust fund, also officially inherits a ship lionel bought and remodeled into a yacht (basing it on bd down under s2’s ship)
in the interest of having nothing to do with the family business, lena studies environmental sciences for her many degrees and ultimately begins sailing the yacht to various parts of the world for research and running yacht seasons in route to help keep funding her work against climate change
the crew changes season to season but it’s mostly made up of our familiar faces
kara is still a journalist (no powers in this one btw) but she is determined to tell whatever story in the world matters so she’s very much a bit of a nomad and happens to be traveling (not for work) nearby when alex (1st officer) calls because they need a new deckhand
it would break from below deck in that, no one is filming them, but the structure of the ship and season would be the same

honestly props to all of the artists for somehow agreeing on the general silhouette of elven clothing. unfortunately it just kind of looks bad but theres clear Trends going on in the casual clothes at the very least. i wish they played with anachronisms more because each elf should have a different cutoff point from human interaction, and since the elves are so stagnant there are probably still tons of historic clothing in circulation especially among older generations. but then again elves are also more globalized than humans are, so maybe not. i have a lot of opinions on this
I will concede to Shannon that she did create a more difficult species to clothe than some others--location plays a huge role in dress because temperature is so important to survival. And Shannon created a species that is 1. not tied to a specific location 2. can manually regulate their own body temperature (though it does have limits and use of this is rare). Like that's the starting point and it just. Isn't here. and 3. does not age and therefore does not lose culture and knowledge with time the same way
But instead of using this to her unique advantage! She...made an indistinct and altogether unimpressive style? Nothing about it stands out or really reflects on any part of their culture but the wealth they have. There's just a lot of missed opportunities. There's no one right way to go with it, but I don't think what she did was one of them. to maximize the potential.
There is consistency! I'll give them that, I generally have an idea of what they wear, it's just uninteresting--to me, personally. Again. All opinion. When it comes to fantasy species, I want more. Or not necessarily more, but something that makes sense with their world. This. Does not.
Shout out to artists who spice up the clothes you're my favorite people ever <3

i can't believe i got beaten to shishido teice for shame (sending the ask a clean six hours after you reblogged it from me)
i'll shake it up a little though: 6, 7, 12 and 23 for tsuruno and/or arakawa :]
IT'S OKAY HOMIE thank you very much for writing in and for introducing variety to my enclosure <3 I will answer for both because I cannot pick favorites even if you put a gun to my head <3
CHARACTER ASK GAME!!! 💫
6. What's something you have in common with this character?
Tsuruno: The way it doesn't come naturally to him to really make an effort to connect with with more than one person at a time to the detriment of his other relationships, no matter how he feels about the others or what his evaluation of his standing with them is. I struggle with that a lot...
Arakawa: Uhhhhh mommy issues <3 LMAO the scene with his mother in the dressing room had me Looking Away bro the depiction hit sooo close to home...
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
Tsuruno: I've really been enjoying the way Gaiden's introduced more people to Yamaguchi's work as an actor and how much fun everyone's been having with his other roles and incorporating stuff from them into their depictions of Tsuruno! I think Yamaguchi's super underrated (and unfortunately his talent doesn't fully come through as Tsuruno due to the motion capture being done by others), so it's been nice to see people come to appreciate him.
Arakawa: I feel like you kind of have to pay close attention to Arakawa and his journey to fully enjoy him as a character, so although he's not the most popular character out there, the stuff people do make for him is almost always on-point... delicious fucking food...
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
Tsuruno: Complete and Utter Dog Person... I need one of Yamaguchi's dogs to make a cameo soooooo bad...
Arakawa: He's a Kaomoji User to me... probably doesn't use them as much as when he first discovered them but everyone's super thrown off getting texts or emails from him for the first time because of the gap moe...
23. Favorite picture of this character?
Tsuruno: You don't really get the full effect from this framing but I felt like SUCH a Victorian gentleman seeing an ankle during this scene it's not even funny... there's definitely other Tsuruno moments I love, but I think I'll love them more once I get to them in my sunglasses-less mod playthrough!
Arakawa: Literally my favorite picture period I don't caaaaaaare this is one of the sexiest shots in the franchise AND THE GAME AIN'T EVEN OUT YET

i am not used to novelty, and i don't think i ever will be; i am used to cold limbs, white eyes, sharp teeth, soft brown sepia, liquid in the taste, the taint is what now fills my blurry eyes, everyone is sclera when the pupils cry (everything is merciful and everything is soft and we are all marshmallow candy on the 31st of the new month expiry is an option not an option but the sell-by-date corroborates strange things whenever we can come across)

I’m not exactly well versed in British culture, so I might be a bit off base here, but it might help some of your US followers if they frame the pervasiveness of classism within the context of the American south.
There is a very common and socially accepted assumption that southerners are stupid, backwards, toothless hillbillies with dumb accents.
Its often played off like a joke, but the insidiousness of it is real and harmful. I don’t think it’s too dissimilar to what you experience, either, though perhaps not quite as pointed or extreme.
When I travel, I do my best to flatten my accent so people don’t pick up on it as easily. As soon as everyone finds out where I’m from, I’m made into a joke. It fucking sucks.
i dont know enough about the american south and i would like to reiterate that despite similarities our class systems are still so different that blanket-comparing them isn't gonna cut it, but yes this sounds exactly right!! like class over here isn't just a money thing, in fact more often than not that's a very small part of it. it's dictated by income and region and accent and what school you went to and what your family do and who you know even down to what you wear and what supermarket you shop at, and if you dont meet the top marks in ALL of these then you will experience classism at some point

the thing about the Anastasia stage musical is that like…….. as a story it’s a real improvement on the original film. way better construction, stronger characterisation etc etc etc. but…. the same choices that make it technically a better narrative also have really weird knock-on effects on the message.
Replacing rasputin with a communist party officer who’s father was one of the ones who executed the romanov family??? UGH that’s so good that’s so juicy the dynamic between the villain and Anya is SO much more interesting than in the original film. But it leads to scenes like Still/The Neva Flows where it’s like.
“The Romanov’s were given everything and gave back nothing until the russian people rose up and destroyed them!”
*girlboss voice* “All but one. I am my fathers daughter”.
And i’m just… ok but he’s right though. He’s absolutely correct there. Factually he is accurate. But she’s the protagonist and he’s the antagonist so the framing is that she’s the one we should be rooting for here. There’s no point where Anya is like “wow my experiences growing up poor and destitute and orphaned have made me morally uncomfortable with the idea of claiming my place as the daughter of the tsar and that’s going to influence my decisions and actions”. She’s just like. Oh cool i get to be a princess??? neato.
