summary: You had an obsession with Australians, your boyfriend and love for the Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer proved as much. So what better way to show your girlfriend you love her than take her to see her other fave Australians?

a/n- HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE LOML OSCAR PIASTRI this is the self-indulgent fic I have been talking about. I am a 5SOS stan and idc if this flops or not because I truly only wrote this for me. also this isn't edited bc I could not be bothered to do so

You had a thing for Australians, your boyfriend was proof of that. But even before you met Oscar, you had been a fan of the Australian band- 5 Seconds of Summer. While other girls were in their One Direction phase, you were busy fawning over the 4 Australians. You were one of lucky few that were able to see both when 5SOS opened for One Direction. You were a stan, all of your family and friends knew it. But most importantly Oscar knew it as well.

He was familiar with the band, they were after all from the same country. He became even more familiar with them after the two of you got to together. Anytime he picked you up and graced you with the aux cord, chances were that 5 Seconds of Summer was blasting through the speakers. Oscar didn’t mind, the music was half bad either, not that he would ever say anything negative about it to you.

So when he saw that tickets were on sale for there newest tour and that one of the UK dates just happened to line up with a non-race weekend, he was quick to purchase tickets. The hardest part of this whole ordeal was keeping it quiet from you. Which is exactly why Oscar only lasted 24 hours before spilling the beans.

Today was Oscar and yours designated ‘lazy day’, no responsibilities, no worries, a day filled with absolutely nothing. Oscar had gone into your shared office about 20 minutes ago, what he was doing, you had no clue and frankly you were too busy watching Bones to really care.

You watch as Oscar appears from his office, hands behind his back hiding something from your view, “I have a surprise for you. Close your eyes.”

You quirk an eyebrow at Oscar’s sudden exclamation. “Should I be scared?” You ask, as you sit up on the couch.

“No. Just close your eyes.”

You do as he ask, trusting him fully. You feel him place something in your lap, however, it was too light to for you to fully make out what it was.

“Ok, you can open them.”

As you open your eyes you look down at your lap. You weren’t sure what to expect but it surely wasn’t a folded piece of paper. “A piece of paper?”

Oscar rolls his eyes at your comment, “Look what’s written on it.”

You unfold the paper and it takes a few seconds for to comprehend what is on it. You look at Oscar then back down at the paper, back to Oscar, back to the piece of paper and finally back to Oscar. “You didn’t,” is all you can say.

“I did.”

“Oscar this isn’t funny. I swear to God if you are joking you are sleeping on this couch.” On that little folded piece of paper is written confirmation for 2 VIP pit tickets for the 5 Seconds of Summer Show.

“Surprise!” Oscar shouts, face scrunched up from smiling so hard.

You launch yourself from the couch and into his awaiting arms. You pepper his face with kisses. “Thank you- Thank you-Thank you. You are literally the best boyfriend ever.”

“You don’t need to thank me baby. I know how much you love them.”

Your smile widens into a grin. You reach up to pinch his cheeks, “Don’t worry you’ll always be my favorite Australian.”

“I better be.”

The weeks leading up to the concert were difficult for you. You were torn in between wanting to know the setlist and not. You had done your best to stay in the dark with majority of the songs you did however know one thing they were going to be doing.

“Osc, they throw a giant inflatable dice into the crowd and whatever song it lands on when it’s back up on stage is the surprise song they play!”

Oscar shoots you a confused look. The two of you were on your way to the venue and you couldn’t stop talking off Oscar’s poor ear about the concert. You tired to reel in your excitement and everytime you apologized for being so excited, Oscar, like the good boyfriend he is, would tell you not to worry and that he loved seeing you so excited.

“And,” you begin again, “one of my favorite songs is on the dice!”

“Which one?”

“English Love Affair!”

Oscar nods, “Isn’t that the one about Harry Styles’ sister?”

“Yes! I can’t believe you remembered.”

“See I know a thing or two.”

“So proud of you baby,” you lean over and press a kiss to his cheek.

You managed to convince Oscar to dress the part of 2014 grunge 5SOS, not that it was a challenge considering majority of pants this man owned were skinny jeans. You had your own get-up, black skinny jeans (that you had to dig out for your side of the closet), black converse, a white baby tee with a graphic that read ‘I <3 Australians’ and a red flannel tied around your waist. Adorning your wrist were the multiple friendship bracelets you had made.

You could only be described as Wattpad Y/N. When Oscar had seen your shirt he had raised a questioning brow and had asked “I hope that shirt only means me.”

After going through security you and Oscar were officially in the venue. Oscar was in search of something to eat and you were on the hunt for the merch stand.

“What do you want to eat?” Oscar asks you as you stand in concession line.

“Hmmm,” you take a peek at the menu, “I’ll have a pretzel.”

Oscar, ever the gentleman, pay for both of your snacks and drinks. You barely have your food in hand before you are dragging Oscar to the merch stand.

The line was long enough that the two of you could eat and silently debate with yourself what you wanted to get.

Oscar leans his head on your shoulder, “You have to get the papaya hoodie.”

You roll your eyes, “You’re so pretentious, it’s literally orange.”

“Still you look good in orange.”

“I better considering I wear it nearly every weekend.”

While in line you chat with a few other fans, exchanging bracelets, predictions and hopes of what the dice song will be. You are interrupted by the feeling of eyes on you and Oscar, you glance over your shoulder to see a group of girls huddled in a circle. One of them is pointing to Oscar and yourself.

You eventually get your merch, Oscar insisting on getting the ‘papaya’ hoodie for you. As the two of you were walking to the wristband station, you one of the girls from the group from earlier approaching.

“Excuse me,” one of them asks timidly, “you’re Oscar Piastri, right?”

Oscar nods his head, “That’s me.”

“Okay, that’s what my friend thought,” she points over to where her other friends are standing, all now much more interested in their shoes, “I’m really sorry to interrupt your date but I wanted to ask if it’s okay if we could take a picture with you.”

Oscar looks at you and you nod your head. He knows he doesn’t need permission, but today was supposed to be a day for the two you. “Sure, we can take some pictures.”

After your run in with Oscar’s fans the rest of night moves in a blur and before you know it the lights dim and the crowd starts to grow crazier, yourself included.

You grab Oscars arm, “It’s starting oh my god, oh my god.”

Oscar rubs your hair, “Are you excited?”

“Is the sky blue?”

The overtune starts and you can see Ashton, Micheal, Luke, and Calum take their places on stage. The familiar instrumental beginning of ‘Bad Omens’ fills your ears and you can hardly contain your scream.

Oscar watches in adoration as you sing along, knowing every word. He can’t help but join in. You might’ve not known the setlist, but Oscar did. He added it to his Spotify the night he bough tickets and listened to it when he could. He wanted to make sure that he could sing along with you.

The first 3 songs pass in a blur- Bad Omens, 2011, Caramel- and not knowing the setlist proved to be the right choice on your part because when Blender starts you nearly make Oscar deaf with your scream.

“I’d die for you, I’d die for you, I’d die for you,” you sing looking Oscar directly in the eye. He only shakes his head at you antics. You bop and dance around to the chorus, grabbing Oscar to join in on your chaos and by the second verse he is fully dancing along with you.

Everyone is bumping into each other having a blast, personal space be damned. You were to high on life to care about the repercussion that you would be facing tomorrow-bruised feet and a sore throat.

More songs play and the boys interact with fans, your screaming and hollering along with them. Oscar’s face lights up at the beginning of ‘She’s Kinda Hot’ and he turns to you with a grin on his face, “I know this one!”

“My girlfriends bitchin’ cause I always sleep in. She’s always screaming when she’s callin’ her friend. She’s kinda hot though!” Oscar sings along, wiggling his eyebrows at you when he sings the last line.

Rolling your eyes you give him a light shove away from you. You take a moment to admire Oscar, thankfully that you have a loving boyfriend that would take you to see your other favorite Australians.

The mood takes a 180 when the chords of ‘Amnesia’ fill the venue. You can’t help the tears that line your eyes and the shakiness of your voice when you sing along. Oscar looks at you, concern etched on his face, you wave him off. It was just a sad song, that’s all.

The lights dim and on the big screen you see Ashton, Luke, Micheal and Calum in there suit get up. You know what time it was- Dice time. They explain the rules, if the dice isn’t back on stage within a minute then they’ll be picking the song instead.

Luke hurls the dice into the crowd and the timer begins. Hands are flying up as the dice moves across the pit, you and Oscar watch and before you know it the dice is coming towards the two of you. You stand on your tippy toes to help Oscar, and the other around you, push it back towards the stage.

“That was strangely horrifying,” Oscar tells you.

“Not something I would want to see coming towards me again.”

The dice lands on stage and you have both your fingers crossed, praying that it’s English Love Affair. You look at the screen to see the graphic stop on English Love Affair, and the noise that escapes you is hardly human. All Oscar can do it laugh at your reaction.

Just like with the rest of the songs, you sing along, there is however a little more passion when you sing along to this one. “The picture burning in my brain, kissing in the rain. No, I can't forget my English love affair.”

Oscar wraps his arms around your middle and rest his head on your shoulder, he still couldn’t believe that this song was about Harry Styles’ sister. Oscar may not admit it but every time you told him about any celebrity tea, he always listened. And granted this was old news, but it was new to him the first time he heard this song.

You were panting at the end of the song. “Having fun babe?” You ask Oscar, hoping that your little performance didn’t scare him off.

“I am. I thought you had some performances in the car, but those are nothing compared to what I just watched.”

Before you know it, ‘She Looks So Perfect’ is playing, signaling that the end of the concert is near. You know that the post concert depression would be hitting extra hard the next morning. As the final chord plays and the boys bow off stage you turn to Oscar, asking him if he is ready to go.

“There are two more songs left, for the encore.” He tells you, still planted in his spot.

You shoot him a look, “How do you know that?”

You watch as Oscar’s cheeks grow red, “I might’ve learned the setlist so I could sing along with you. And trust me, you don’t want to miss these ones.”

You knew that they would probably come back out to play ‘Youngblood’ it was their most popular song, however you weren’t sure why Oscar was so insistent that you wanted to hear the other one.

So when they came back on stage and the familiar ‘Oh-whoa’s’ graced your ears you nearly burst into tear. You weren’t expecting to hear ‘Outer Space’ live, ever. You had made peace with this fact so you really couldn’t help it when tears started streaming down your face.

Oscar knew of your history with the Sounds Good Feels Good album, that was an album that you related to so closely, he also knew how much Outer Space/Carry on meant to you.

Oscars hand, now wrapped around your shoulders, brought you closer into his chest as you sang along, softer than you had been singing the entire night, “ I will wait for you, to love me again… I guess I was running, from something. I was running back to you.”

Oscar leans his head in closer and presses a soft kiss into your cheek. Oscar reaches into his back pocket and hands you his phone, flashlight already on, so you could join in with everyone else.

“The darkest night never felt so bright with you by my side,” Oscar sings along. And while you couldn’t see him, you knew that he was looking at you with nothing but love his eyes.

The two of you sway in each others embrace, singing along to the ending-

You turn in Oscars arms, you bring your hands up to cup his face and pull him in for a sweet kiss. It wasn’t the most romantic kiss the two of you have shares, you were both sweaty, tired, you definitely had tears running down your face, and there was probably some snot in the mix. It might’ve not been the most romantic, but it was something so personal and that’s all that you needed.

a/n: also as I said this was extremely self-indulgent and ik you can def tell. but in all seriousness 5SOS is my favorite band and their album- Sounds Good Feels Good is the album to listen to if you need to get some feels out. I cry every time I listen to Outer Space/Carry on.

I was lucky enough to see them last year at the '5 Seconds of Summer Show' and hearing Outer Space live was an out of body experience. If you ever need some song recommendations for a certain mood, they have a song for nearly everything.

I am the QUEEN of not pitting two bad bitches against each other and instead I will gleefully say “fuck you” to all the versus battle shit that fandom loves to drool over and point out how these two would actually be pretty well-matched in most things and why MALENIA AND SEPHIROTH SPECIFICALLY SHOULD STOP BEING PITTED AGAINST OTHER CHARACTERS IN GAMING LORE BECAUSE THAT’S ALL PEOPLE EVER DO WITH THEM FOR FUCKS SAKE—

*throws Vergil’s stupid lawn chair out the window*

I spent hours and hours defending Malenia in the trenches on YouTube and Reddit back when the TRAILERS were just coming out. I STILL GET NOTIFS FROM THIS ONE THREAD OF ESSAY COMMENTS I WROTE ON YOUTUBE WHERE I TRASHED SOME SMUG DUDEBRO THAT WAS HATING ON MALENIA AND ACTUALLY MANAGED TO WIN THE SUPPORT OF 75% OF THE OTHER GAMER KIDS THAT READ MY RETORTS BECAUSE I WAS ON FIRE. (I am bragging a little, yes. I am still proud of that moment. No, I don’t want to ever re-live or re-read that cringe again but it was fun while it lasted).

I fucking think Radahn is pretty badass and a cool character, but the moment he showed up as the rival to Malenia, there were people worshipping the ground his horse walked on. As soon as the game was out, it took a couple of days for everyone to take his side in literally everything from morals to combat prowess, and Malenia just got dragged through the mud. Worst ER fandom era. I’m so tired of it and I left it behind, but dammit, I still stand with my view that Malenia deserved better from the fans.

She deserves to have her story analyzed and treated with care and her boss fight to be treated as a worthy challenge. There I said it.

Also, her strength is incredible. She is disabled and rotting from her core, but she can still do THIS?

She’s so fucking beautiful, I am gonna cry. That’s her trouncing her own disabilities to keep fighting. That’s her stunning waterfowl dance where she moves like a dancing bird.

And then she has her god-form where she becomes a vessel for an Outer God so powerful that it reshaped an entire part of the continent, and she can BLOOM, absorbing more and more power. She kills players every moment with this these days. Out of the 9 billion deaths that Elden Ring has caused players, Malenia claimed over 300 million of those when the stats were last checked. One of the best bosses in Soulsborne history and almost certainly the toughest.

She is an absolute powerhouse, and MORE IMPORTANTLY, a well-written, tragic, and morally complex character with an amazing story that I wish I could summon the brainpower to articulate in full.

And Sephiroth is the same if people can set aside all the fucking stereotypes and popular gamer perceptions of his character for five seconds.

He has his own “Waterfowl Dance” called the Octaslash:

…where he moves faster than the eye can see. He cuts through moving bullets, big-ass troop transports, and dozens of soldiers in the blink of an eye. He can also summon fire so aggressively that it completely obliterates the surrounding environment.

When he has his later powers, he cuts through enormous buildings and metal structures, he can throw….city ruins…at you,

He can….change the weather???

He can impale snake gods on giant…woodchips lmao?

He can fly without and with a wing, he can cut through different dimensions of time and space, he can shapeshift with his alien mother’s power, and he has an angelic god-form just like Malenia:

….with which he has the potential to destroy the Solar System….

And he summons a Meteor that is big enough to destroy an entire planet in the game

And it….almost does….

But see, Sephiroth CAN still be stopped. Malenia CAN still be stopped. They both have limits, and are beaten by The Protagonist Swordsmen. None of this powerscale shit matters with them because they both end up defeated anyway.

Sephiroth can summon that enormous meteor but Malenia fought the man keeping the stars in check to a stalemate and still left him crippled. Malenia has an Outer God backing her up with power, but Sephiroth has his own alien god mother backing him up with power.

Both of them also have the theme of refusing to just fucking die around them too, and I respect that.

Malenia has an incredible in-depth and tragic story with a strong connection to her brother and the horrors of her own existence.

Sephiroth has a shocking and tragic story with a deep connection to his mother and the horrors of his own existence.

One is a fallen hero turned into a villain, one is a fallen warrior with crumbling and desperate morals.

I only said Sephiroth was more terrifying than Malenia because he is vicious, unlike her. Malenia isn’t trying to burn all of humanity to death. She just wants to defend her brother as his champion. I’m not afraid of her as a villain or anything. I can see that she’s trying her best.

Sephiroth is brutal and cruel after he turns to the dark side and is meant to be terrifying as the enemy. He doesn’t have a cute little Millicent looking for him to restore his dignity. He’s completely isolate and moves like a prowling shark. That’s that.

BUT OVERALL THEY SHOULD BE FRIENDS AND GO TO THERAPY TOGETHER AND PEOPLE SHOULD STOP MAKING EVERYTHING ABOUT THEIR ABILITY TO TAKE ON OTHER CHARACTERS BASED ON INCONSISTENT VIDEO GAME MECHANICS AND JUST BECAUSE MALENIA KICKED EVERYONE’S ASS, GOING DOWN AS SOULSBORNE’S MOST DIFFICULT BOSS AND BECAUSE SEPHIROTH STOLE THE SPOTLIGHT IN SMASH BROS AFTER KILLING EVERYONE AND GIVING THEM PANIC ATTACKS SINCE 1997.

there are clowning materials/potential candies that i wanna look into and talk about no matter how improbable they are. then there are those where i’m just — do i even want to do this? lol. only because there is not much to go on and fueled solely by speculation. anyway, this is about the alleged camera gifted to xz ( by wang yibis babie ) and how he took it to milan with him.

i’m making this so i can refer to it if anything comes up in the future. the thing is, if you look at the vlogs/photos — ZZ is using his phone to take pictures and videos. there is nothing wrong that, most people use their phones and he has his team that will take the “content” who brought the equipment. but i just find it hard to believe that GG, a photographer, will not bring a camera? this is a dude who brings it for drama shoots ( for example ace troops ) and that’s at home. so what more for a trip like this. in milan. there are a couple of fan-photos/videos of him roaming around and we don’t see him holding a proper camera. surely there will be other content from that trip and let’s see if we find the cam but right now it seems like it’s non- existent.

this talk started with a made-up 🍉…

i’m saying made-up because all melons that read like this are. especially those that say “xx and xx have a good relationship” or “xx exercise alot”. if this was from a fake rumor house, i would be more inclined to have a positive take on it but it’s not. as i also said before, i don’t endorse this particular account cause they clearly post reliable work-related melons, anti posts and random stuff to get attention. point is, melon accounts are not friends.

anyway, this made some turtles think about last october when some where noticing the appearance of cameras in their promo pics/ videos. and comments came up of maybe it’s a clue that they are giving us. remember XZ didn’t do his usual birthday post last year, same with Bobo.

so now we’re like, why not look into it?

XZS posted very few photos of GG ( 2021-2022 ) with a camera and i can’t really tell what he’s using for p1 and p2. but i think this is the same one he takes with him @ drama shoots.

for the vlogs i found this, but they covered the brand. lol. and well the occasional polaroid cameras are also spotted in his vlogs.

i don’t see any concrete timeline of what cameras he has, i only remember his pd101 guesting and how fans were saying the camera he used is his own. it just never really came up, how many cameras do you have? hahahahahahaha!

In terms of MFW,

the main camera his team was using for photos and vlogs was Canon EOS body and of course the important thing are the lenses which they switch out. I think this was not the “gifted” one and more of something his assistant/photographer owns. 📷

my eye is on the camera he used for the tod’s photoset when he landed in Milan. It was still posted under XZS and they tagged Tod’s, but it’s not exactly a “business photoshoot” that will be released as a proper Ad. It is still work-related, but given the freedom to add his personal touch. popular guess is it’s a sony zv-1, which is a known compact vlogging camera that is good quality. it is a thoughtful gift for someone you know who loves to shoot his day-to-day life. it’s not too heavy or so expensive that you will be afraid to use it casually.

some are saying it might be provided by tod’s for him to shoot but i find that unlikely. they know he has his team. if they need to capture photos/videos of him, they will send their own. knowing how cared for he was by the tod’s team during his trip. and the important thing for a tod’s “ad post” is really the product. the clothes, bags and shoes. so why was this camera featured twice? is he showing it off? for what?

i checked the review and it sounds promising that i almost wanna buy one for myself 😂😂😂

it could be his own and he bought it himself. it is possible too ( by turtle logic ) that it’s “gifted” by wyb. who knows. as with all other candies, we can’t say for sure or confirm things. but for this one, i think we need more evidence and time. 💕

Ill be honest. Idk if I am making sense here but I find Daniel’s attitude and overall lack of comprehension toward the intended - subtle or not - misogyny that he’s around a MAJOR ICK!

I’m thinking of the European 🐱comment, this book etc. Daniel doesn’t come out with anything but a laugh and stunned silence instead of “hey look, let’s not objectify women” or “ah it’s a bit of fun isn’t it? For me, it’s weird, but let’s not shame the person who has written it”. In private he can laugh at as many 🐱 jokes as he wants too, he can talk all day long about how f*cking weird fanfics about him are BUT when it’s in the public eye and he has hundreds of thousands of female fans, it’s pretty gross and feels like he doesn’t care about female fans at all. (Idk if this makes sense in the way I’ve written it)

We all know he doesn’t keep up with the news (he’s said so himself) but he comes across as tone deaf sometimes. You can get away with that at 22,23 but he’s in his 30s with a girlfriend. Come on! It’s not exactly giving “I have a girlfriend and a sister and would hate for my girlfriend and sister to be spoken about like that so let’s chill with the sexist, double standard comments.”

Don’t get me wrong, he’s not the only one (Pierre is a major eyeroll) but he’s not 25, he’s old enough to know better. this ask is from a week ago.. sorry about the late response 😳 also the podcast incident has been discussed many many times in the past so i really hope me answering this ask won't reopen the discourse.

pretty sure this was related to the other ask about daniel's non-confrontational personality so im just gonna go from there. if daniel were a confrontational person and he chooses to not address the host's misogynistic remarks, then i think it'd be worth discussing whether he lacks the comprehension. but he's not. in fact he resolves conflicts in the most non-confrontational way possible. and im not saying this just to make a point. when i say 'the most' i really mean non-confrontational in like an almost pathological way.

example:

this was after z*k brown fired him in the most public and disrespectful way possible, including assuring him he still has a seat when they'd already given his seat to oscar. mysterious italian man said to him 'told you not to trust zak' and he just. smiled like this.

another example:

here max can be seen getting more and more annoyed for daniel by the second. meanwhile daniel smiled bigger and bigger. and when max interrupted to defend him daniel was NOT SURPRISED AT ALL even though he had appeared totally ok with Crofty’s question up until that point

idk why he is the way he is, but to me it's very obvious he's not a confrontational person. he's like the opposite of confrontational (would literally smile bigger when he's uncomfortable/offended) idek if they have a word for that. "hey look let's not" is just not something he would say.

i do find it disappointing that he didn't call out the host for the p*ssy comment. imo a moment like that is where he (anybody) should've spoken up regardless. but i'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt and trust that he didn't react simply for the same reason he doesn't react to offensiveness/hostility in general. to me it doesn't necessarily mean he lacks the sensitivity or comprehension.

(the book thing was a whole different story tho. that book was literally erotica written about him. for him it's personal. imo he doesn't need to worry about how the writer feels at all)

The entire Sailor Moon fandom has an annoying obsession with interpreting Mamoru as “the straight friend” or “the boring straight man”, and it feels like they ignore his actual character to do so. It’s like they just go I don’t like him, he’s boring, and boring = straight. It’s so annoying because he’s queer-coded in the anime, and in the manga his sexuality is never commented on. Assuming that a character who has no confirmed sexuality is instantly straight is pretty queerphobic honestly. Straight is the default, I guess. :/ /s

He honestly seems asexual, demisexual, aromantic, and/or nonbinary to me (going off of his lack of interest in relationships and his rather androgynous speech patterns in Japanese Sailor Moon media), but any male character who isn’t stereotypically gay can’t be queer apparently. Which like, he’s pretty effeminate anyways?? So he could be interpreted that way, most people just don’t for some reason.

His mannerisms in pretty much all Sailor Moon media are very delicate and feminine. He expresses his feelings through poetry that he dramatically performs OUT LOUD. He has a flower motif and a knowledge of flower language. He seems to enjoy theatre and loves to put on a show. He kinda like,,, had a deep, special connection with a man?? One that’s heavily implied to be of a queer nature, if not a romantic one. I’m not sure how any of this screams “straight man” to you guys. TT0TT

He’s also in a friend group with a bunch of queer girls. What straight boy just befriends a bunch of queer girls?? It’s not exactly typical. You know who does, though? Queer boys! My friend group when I was a teenager was a group of girls and one boy. What did we have in common? We were all queer! Queer people are gravitated to each other.

I don’t even wanna unpack the fact that he’s based off of Otokoyaku, and is usually played women nowadays! (Because I don’t know a ton about Takarazuka, and there’s just too much going on there.) People say he’s “too beautiful” to be played by a man. That doesn’t sound like it contains any implications of gender experimentation or queerness. No way...😳 /s Anyways, look at the resemblance (He has the same style of suit and over-the-top, dramatic presentation)! (Forgive my photo editing.)

Here’s a passage from an article about Takarazuka that I think describes Mamoru to a T. “They go on to say that the magic of Takarazuka is that it makes them believe in fairy tales, and male actors would be too coarse in the roles displayed in the musicals. Other fans echoed this, adding that women can truly display what an ideal man is, one that is sweet, romantic, sensitive and caring — without all the bad parts of men.” (Link: https://studybreaks.com/thoughts/takarazuka/)

This is Mamoru! He was designed to be an ideal man who is sweet, romantic, sensitive, caring, and *delicate*. He’s called delicate by official materials all the time. This reeeeeeally doesn’t sound like your typical “boring straight man”. His very essence as a character is gender non-conforming! He’s supposed to be a person who has the good parts of men and women. He was purposefully made this way, and it’s not just my interpretation! Takeuchi Naoko has said she was very inspired by Takarazuka, and you can really see it in her work.

In conclusion, it doesn’t make sense that people always interpret him as a “boring straight dude”! There’s literally so much queer stuff going on with him. This is only scratching the surface.

After the discourse that happened on Twitter with harries the last couple of days I’m thinking about how I felt the first time I heard Only the Brave, I had been struggling and wavering back and forth over whether I was queer or not questioning and questioning, I was confused and struggling to understand myself, I still struggle to this day with my sexuality, but I remember reaching the end of Walls and those guitar strums came on and Louis started singing in his beautiful voice with the lyrics ‘pour mercy, mercy on me’ and so on, and when I tell you I burst into TEARS, everything that had built up and had been resting on my shoulders for years finally made sense I finally felt like I could breathe! I felt understood in a way I never did before, it not only helped me realise who I am but also to this day helps me ACCEPT who I am.

So while Louis may not throw a flag around as he walks over his stage, he does sign flags and tell fans to be proud and understand how important correct pronouns are for people, he congratulated a gay couple when they got engaged (which had they not tweeted abt it we would not have known about), he did for ltwt get up onstage every night and sing Only the Brave while Louie’s stood and waved their pride flags for themselves, for other Louie’s and for other queer people, it’s one of the most liberating songs I’ve ever heard. He doesn’t even make it about himself in those moments he allows the fans to take the lead to do what they need to do in those moments and that for me is more important and far more meaningful, than what others who are considered allies do, but to have people who haven’t even and won’t ever bother to listen to the song or even Louis’ discography to come online and tell Louie’s we are weird for making something our safe space because a song hits us SO deeply is so ethically wrong in my opinion just because what you don’t understand? Whether you are queer or not there is no excuse for that.

Regardless of Louis’ sexuality and what the song means to him the song for us as queer Louie’s means a heck of a lot and to have stood there in pit surrounded by Louie’s who were waving their flags in the air I had never felt so relaxed and free in my life, I felt safe and I felt like everyone in that room understood the importance of that song.

So yeh you as a non-fan may not ever understand the connection we have to that song, you may not ever understand why we feel the way we feel about louis and the connection we have with him, but you don’t need too! You don’t need to worry about queer Louie’s (even though we all know you don’t) you don’t need to throw your hateful comments around because at the end of the day it has NOTHING to do with you and in all honesty you can get fucked.

To queer Louie’s, don’t let shitty people on the internet tell you who or what can be your safe space especially when they don’t care and take no time to understand, especially when they ignore everything we as Louie’s say time and time again about WHY louis is our ally and how he has helped us and other queer people. They will never get it and at this point they’re proving that they don’t wish too and that for me is actually very sad and I hope they can move past and grow from these hateful feelings that they channel.

People that kept talking about taennie were mostly tkkrs. They couldn't shut up about the topic just wanting to prove how fake it all was and etc etc. Some really big tkk accs kept doing this for a long long time. Even before the Paris walk, when taennie was basically dead, they kept bringing it up.

Jk and Jm stans usually dont spread things that they dont want spread about their favs.

And about one of the comments under this post, if Jm really cared about how his fans are treating her he would say anything, but he will never risk it. None of them would. He's in the military but he still has access to social media so he knows what's happening. Of course people will say "but the company would never let him say anything. He would suffer from it..." the company can strongly recommend him something, but if he really wanted to, he'd just need to log into his sm acc and post it. But protecting her from his crazy fans is not his priority, for w/e reason. Maybe because they are not together? Maybe because he prioritize his fans.

Mmm, not sure I totally agree with it only having been Tkkrs who kept talking about Taennie. It was Taennies and Jkkrs too, but I do suspect that a huge part of non shipping army probably just went on with their normal ways after it first dropped. The big thing about Taennie was that it concerned two fandoms that don’t really like each other. So aside from the shipping it also became this continuing argument-thingy between Blinks and Army. Fans in general are pretty reactive, so when one side says something triggering the other side is prone to respond. I think that’s part of why the taennie talk went on for as long as it did as well.

Daeun doesn’t have a fandom as big as army or blinks behind her. Pjm’s and Jkkrs want this to go away, and I think Tkkrs will probably move on from this soon enough as well. It’s gonna depend on how she’s gonna post from now on whether it’s something that keeps coming back.

I’m not sure if I would take his lack of reaction as him caring more for his fans/career than about her. In general my thoughts have always been that members will only make an announcement on a relationship if they are going to carry that relationship to the next level (let’s say marriage or kids). I don’t think it’s the strength of their feelings that decide that, but rather the steadiness of the relationship combined with string feelings. It’s possible he loves her deeply but isn’t sure yet if this relationship has a long term chance. We’ve seen some examples of Idols announcing a relationship but breaking up soon after. While I think that perhaps those idols try to make it more acceptable to see idols dating, I’m not inclined to think BTS members will join in on that. I think BTS members’s fame will cause huge safety risks for their partners.

It’s also possible that they’re not together right now. In that case him reacting would not help the situation at all.

I can say that it’s comforting how many casual fans who don’t even like ships are so against Stancy that they’re showing support for Jancy. From what I’ve seen on the social media accounts I’ve dated to venture, even Ronance is more popular than Stancy. The scenes they were trying to portray as romantic were so bad and cringy that even Nancy had more chemistry with Robin. She had more chemistry with her gun. And then her reunion with Jonathan was so eye opening on what actual love looks like.

I feel this in my bones, Anon. As someone who has been in the fandom a decent while (and I'm assuming you have been too based on this ask) there used to be, at most, neutral feelings towards Nancy, Jonathan, and Jancy in larger fandom. No one was really talking about them or focused on them but occasional comments of "they're boring" and "why are they even still on the show" were made. There of course were also a lot of negative comments and feelings towards the characters, especially after season 2, about "what they did to Steve" and all of that nonsense.

I have noticed the same social media trends as well (though I too rarely take a peek) and find it incredibly... validating? We could have easily had the larger fanbase eat the St*ncy shit up and love the idea of them getting back together but they’re rejecting it which is awesome. It’s like we don’t have to fight our battles on our own anymore, you know?

I spend most my non-tumblr fandom time on reddit to take the pulse on the fandom in general and I have noticed a few things from there (especially immediately post ST4 vol 1 and vol 2):

St*ncy is not well received and many comments supporting them get downvoted

The reintroduction of the love triangle is a very common complaint regarding ALL characters involved. On the flip side, I cannot recall seeing anyone praise this narrative decision.

Steve, though still THE fan favorite, has received more critical comments/posts than ever in the past. Comments that even I, as a Steve fan, find valid. Though there are definitely still fans that blindly worship him, I’ve also noticed many fans, who consider Steve to be their favorite character, posting that...:

They’re disappointed in his ST4 character arc or lack there of

They’re tired of the whole “Steve needs a girlfriend” plot that they thought was addressed in ST3 with his acceptance and platonic love for Robin (honestly a very fair point!)

Not as common, but I’ve seen multiple posts commenting how Steve and Dustin’s banter is not landing like it used to (and other fans agree to this).

They’re upset Steve went from a layered character who was fallible but growing and changing to now (and I quote) “a perfect angel” who can do no wrong with plot armor to boot.

A GENERAL CONCERN FOR NANCY AS A CHARACTER!! This has been my favorite observation. In response to the reintroduction to the love triangle (and especially in response to Steve sharing that he’s always envisioned Nancy in his dream and Jonathan being dishonest from Nancy (and being and “unambitious burnout with no goals”.... to which I disagree immensely)) people are hoping that Nancy gets to move on beyond these boys and pursue her dreams and continue to be ambitious. Though I think she can accomplish all of this with Jonathan once they finally talk, it is so refreshing to see fans love and appreciate Ms. Wheeler. Are there the occasional comments about how Steve doesn’t deserve Nancy? Sure. But people attack those comments now. In general, her character is getting a lot of love. FINALLY.

A love for Jancy. This is rarer. Most comments support single Nancy, but when a post centers around them or when they are brought up it is met with many upvotes. Mine included.

I’ve even noticed on Tumblr (and I think I’ve reblogged posts) that basically state “I didn’t even know I cared about Jancy until all the St*ncy shit happened this season” which, again, is totally validating.

It just feels like everyone took them for granted and is now realizing how wonderful these characters are together and how wonderful Nancy is as her own character. People are also like “I wish we got to see more from Jonathan!” which is great but has been a comment made ever since ST2.

Has any one else noticed similar sentiments in the larger, general fandom or with casual viewers??

Honestly, the fucking audacity in this comment on twitter. Like dude, I don’t care if you prefer Sansa and her story over other characters, but equating Sansa fucking Stark to a native population is not only uninformed, but sick and fucking tone deaf.

First, how do stans of Stark character’s not even know the history of the house they support? Because Starks are descended from the First Men who were ESSOSI. They were the colonizers of Westeros, along with the other First Men. They genocided the Children of the Forest, and tried to erase their culture and religion and languages. How does that not resonate? How do people not see that the Children of the Forest are the native equivalent in this story? The Starks AREN’T the native equivalent! The Starks were the colonizers and oppressors.

Secondly, what exactly did the Targaryen’s take from the Stark’s and the North when they conquered Westeros? Yes, they conquered them, but Torrhen bent the knee, which means there were no Northern casualties in that conquest. Did Aegon, Rhaenys, and Visenya force the North to give up the Old Gods in favor of Valyrian practices? DId they erase their traditions and cultures? No, they literally only took the title of monarch, and Torrhen’s crown, said that Torrhen could remain leader of the North as a Warden, and said the Stark’s and the rest of the North had to pay a bit of taxes to the crown. *gasp* How horrible and traumatic! I can see where the generational trauma comes in. *rolls eyes*

Thirdly, the Starks are WHITE and so is “precious wittle Sansa”. The fact that people out here are equating an extremely privileged and rich white noble house to oppressed and disenfranchised peoples, in world and out, just blows my mind and tells me that they are not only trying to victimize Sansa and the Stark’s more than they have been victimized, but that they are being extremely disrespectful in their privileged positions.

Forthly, I love when non-native’s say things like “I’m all for natives taking back their land” while they themselves sit on their asses on NATIVE LAND. Like I’d like to see them put their money where their mouth is and actually give their land and property back to the natives, but they don’t. Oh, but wait, they said “for natives taking back their land” which means they are saying “If natives got up off their lazy asses and rose up and tried to take back their rightful lands, I’d be a-okay with it” which is highly fucking doubtful. It’s all a bunch of woke meaningless platitudes being used to justify liking a fictional character over another.

And before anyone comes at me, yes, I am part Native American, which is why this pisses me off so much. I’m also a big House Stark fan, so it really boggles my mind that so many proclaimed “Stark Stans” continue to whitewash and ignore these things.

Ways the anti OTW racism movement might succeed

We’ve all seen the posts from the anti OTW racism movement, and some people have been saying they have no chance to get anything done, or saying they should just go somewhere else. I slightly disagree! I think it’s natural for the OTW racism people to want to exert pressure on AO3, and I also think there are some ways they may succeed.

In this post, I’ll talk about my thoughts on the reasons for this movement and ways it may succeed.

Why do they care about AO3?

We’ve seen a greater centralization in the nonprofit fan archiving space in the last decade, and particularly in the last 5 years with the decline of the eFiction archiving software, which has resulted in greater difficulty for people to make alternatives to AO3. I hear that the eFiction project has a maintainer again, but I don’t know if it’s actually up to date and secure.

The OTW-Archive project hasn’t yet reached a point where it’s easy to deploy new instances. My understanding is that aside from AO3, there only other successful deployment of OTW-Archive is Squidgeworld Archive (though Ad Astra is trying to migrate to a read-only deployment of otwarchive, I think). The other ways of having group fic hosting would be using webforum software or wordpress or something, which is okay but not very good for it.

In terms of the other big fic hosting websites, they tend to have other problems. The biggest ones are FFN, Webnovel, RoyralRoad, and Wattpad, all of which are for-profit, have restrictive moderation policies, and a poor feature set. If you want a fan-run, non-profit, feature-rich website with up-to-date technology, AO3 is the only game in town.

I think if there were lots of big fan-run archives with good tech and so on, and AO3 wasn’t as central there would be less wank. But, those are the times.

What about that AI wank? Will that go anywhere?

The latest wank about AI seems unlikely to go anywhere due to not really having actionable demands that aren’t self-defeating. Banning AI-generated works from the archive, in the absence of a reliable, simple way to identify them, is basically a non-starter. People will post them untagged, and harassers will use “this is an AI fic” as a vector of harassment. The simplest and most effective policies, like stopping Common Crawl from scraping AO3, have already been done.

What about the OTW anti-racism people?

The racism drama is a more interesting one! There are some actionable policies out there that could be done, and some that already have been done. Not that it’s being requested, but we could imagine adding an Archive Warning for Slavery is an option. Though this would cause a big problem for existing works that were tagged prior to the new Archive Warning, you could totally imagine something like this gaining traction and support.

It’s not a waste of time to ask, either. There’s a history of the OTW Board doing stuff in response to fan concerns as well. The OTW Board made a series of promises in 2020 about racism and harassment, and some of those (comment moderation, and block/mute functionality) have actually been implemented. The OTW is run by fans and the donors are all fans, so if the fans all want something, assuming it’s actually feasible from a technical and volunteer time level, it can be done.

I think the OTW anti-racism movement’s requests are a bit on the vague side and may be harder to implement, but it’s certainly the kind of thing that OTW has been responsive to in the past, so it’s not completely outside the realm of possibility. Some of it probably isn’t happening, in my view, though.

Here are my thoughts on the movement’s 4 requests, and how likely they are to get filled:

ToS change banning “extremely racist and extremely bigoted” content. This is probably not going to fly with the typical OTW voter. The amount of shenanigans involved in implementing this ban would be a lot, and reports of content for being bigoted would immediately be used as a tool in stupid ship wars, and I think we all know this. This would be a lot harder to handle than something like introducing an Archive Warning tag for Slavery. Potential for abuse seems high, in a way that hasn’t been helped by what I perceive to be not-detailed-enough descriptions of what they want for this ban.

ToS change for policy against uploading fics to AO3 to use as harassment tools. I think people are definitely concerned about AO3 being used to coordinate harassment against people, and some kind of policy that allows the PAC team to evaluate whether or not fics are being used to coordinate off-site harassment campaigns seems possible. One possibility could be the introduction of some kind of public standards for whether this kind of thing counts as doxxing, or notability standards a la wikipedia or something. More likely go over well with voting OTW members than the racism ban suggestion.

Hiring a Diversity Consultant in the next 3-6 months. Man, I would love for this to be possible. OTW is a huge org with hundreds of volunteers, and even in my small corner of Fanlore, if it's not a task that I can personally do individually with no help, it will never get done in under a week or even two weeks unless it's quite urgent and people are willing to drop everything in their personal life to get on it (or it's some kind of routine task with a defined hand-off process). Even arranging meetings with other people to get input takes a long time, etc. Slowness hiring an org-wide, paid professional Diversity Consultant, I would guess, is more due to OTW being slow as a whole rather than Board Members intentionally gumming up the works. This is uh, not good. But what can you do?

Future board updates on the promises from 2020 in the newsletter rather than just public Board Meeting discord chats. I think this is probably the most doable of the 4 requests, since it just requires moving content that’s already being generated from a public discord to a newsletter. That’s still going to be a pain etc but compared to making big changes to what content is allowed, or quickly hiring a consultant for this huge unwieldy org, this one seems actually quite doable and won’t step on people’s toes as much. I think people won’t be upset about this as a suggestion.

Anyway, it’ll be interesting to see how this pans out!

As you can see, while I think it’s possible some of this stuff will happen, I basically think the movement is too optimistic about ways their suggestions could go wrong, the chances of OTW voting members liking those suggestions, and so on.

Nonetheless, I admire the ambition to improve the archive, regardless as to whatever disagreements I have on whether these suggestions would make things better or worse, and whether or not they’re feasible. A little wank can be good for fandom at times! And who knows, maybe this movement will lead to some conversations that help things out without causing lots of problems for AO3.

I find it so interesting how many of the issues with the things MAME write comes from a western perspective and how it is interpreted in their context. Let me explain.

I think their biggest issue is not with the things she writes. Is with translation. I have thought about this before when I first got into BL and manga and anime and anything that comes from a different culture than mine. Most things I finded weird were actually explained and made sense in their designated context. One friend (and I also saw this) once said that when she watched anime back when she was younger there’s used to be subtitles with notes explaining some jokes the characters were saying or some food/name/anything that was from that culture that we would not be able to understand otherwise. And when I saw that I almost went crazy. Because I loved it. I loved having something on the screen that would explain things in that context. It made the whole thing more enjoyable and clear.

I feel like that’s what is missing nowadays with a lot of media coming to us in those contexts. Like, I also wished American and British shows had it but that’s an impossible discussion. Non-English media has to be contextualized much more than English. And sometimes, it is not even possible to try to equalize them. So many things in non anglo languages don’t have correlatives or similarities in anglo languages. They can only have meaning in that context. So, what happens when a popular author in that context gets into an English context? You guessed. It would be a mess. Because most translations are not legal and most translators also don’t even care about making a good translation of said work. Or they can’t because of external reasons.

This is not only about her work specifically. So many other shows come the wrong way to the international audience because of translation. And let’s be honest, most non english speakers also watch non english things with english-subtitles. So there are a lot of operations for a thing to come the exact way it was produced in the first place. And MAME is definitely one of them. Take the novel for example or the amount of issues with the subtitles in IQIYI. There were many things missing and things didn’t make sense, and others times the “actual” and original meaning was more powerful than the translated one.

I don’t think English speakers or people that consume English translations actually understand the amount of simplicity said language has. Is actually insane. So yeah, maybe some of the things she write is wrong and fucked up and also many others shows and books are like that (English ones are not that healthy and happy and good, yk). But I believe that until I can get into the original stuff, all of my critics are “empty”. And I think of it with what others say. Because I didn't see how it was in the context and probably neither them. Sometimes I need knowledge in how some of those things work. Like seriously, so many, and I say so fucking many things in BL shows, coming from Asia have a lot of puns and word games that only a native would understand. International fans would definitely need a comment or two in that sense.

Also, has anyone considered how the discourse in some of the usual topics are in Thailand? What do they think about it? Why only see the English interpretation and not others? People from other countries need to learn English to explain their non-English things. And try to make them understand why what the English ones thought was wrong, is not actually that bad in their country. This is seriously an issue.

Trying to push values and meanings to other cultures just because you have it is a problem. A historical one. So, this has no end. But we can still talk about it, right?

Depot Agents Information Post (Part 1)

Now that I’ve introduced my versions of the Battle Subway’s Depot Agents with pictures and their Pokémon, this post is to provide some information about each of them individually. Just to allow you all to get to know them better.

Furze:

-Furze is non-binary, uses they/them pronouns, and is demisexual. They are also 5′5″ (165cm) tall.

-Furze LOVES their trains and has ever since they were a young child. They also carry around a toy train car in their pocket at all times.

-Furze’s main concern when it comes to Pokémon battling is having fun, and they don’t really care all that much about winning or losing. However, they can get very pouty whenever a battle is boring or totally out of balance.

-Furze feels and expresses all of their emotions very strongly, which can sometimes catch other people off guard.

-Furze is a big fan of corny movies and tv shows, and appreciates any opportunity to share details about whatever they watched recently.

-Because of Furze’s very strong emotional expression, they can sometimes panic when distressed past a certain level. Words often become blurred and hard to understand when they’re in this state, so they need physical comfort when someone is trying to calm them down.

-Furze lives verrry close to the Gear Station, so they walk or run to work every day. Weather is their worst enemy, and their stubbornness can worry some of the other depot agents sometimes.

-Ingo and Emmet have kind of adopted Furze as another little brother due to their shared interests and Furze’s lack of family outside of work. This isn’t something they go out of their way to announce though, and Furze simply looks up to them as Subway Bosses. -Furze makes amazing berry smoothies that they often bring for their coworkers to share during the summer months. They know everyone’s preferences like the back of their hand.

Cloud:

-Cloud is non-binary, uses xe/xem pronouns, and is pansexual. Xe are also 5′11″ (180cm) tall.

-Cloud is an absolute master of sass and can come up with a retort on the spot for any sort of conversation. Because xe’re generally accountable with what xe say, Ingo and Emmet tend to let xir comments slide, especially because they tend to find them hilarious.

-Cloud adores Pokémon battling both for the thrill and to see different battle combinations. Xe love to make note of both xir own strategies used and the strategies of others that they see.

-Cloud can overstep conversational boundaries every now and again, though this stems moreso from excitement and curiosity than anything else. Xe do have to get reminded on occasion to not ask questions to the guests that are too personal.

-Cloud has the ability to sleep basically anywhere without visible discomfort, even if that means facedown on the platform floor. People have expressed concern about this before.

-Because of xir tendencies to lean into xir love of research, Cloud carries around a notepad 24/7 to document whatever xe find interesting about Pokémon and battles.

-Cloud rollerblades to work everyday because xe find that more fun than walking, bike riding, or driving. Xe keep xir blades in a cubby during the day because even xe know wearing them on the Subway would be a terrible idea.

-Cloud is the “Mom Friend” of the depot agents, with that being something that can override even xir love or research. Xe’re always making sure everyone is taking care of, especially among xir coworkers.

-Cloud is the best engineer of the group, though Cameron is definitely working towards fighting xem for that title. Xe like the idea of a friendly challenge, even though Cameron doesn’t acknowledge it.

Cameron:

-Cameron is a demiwoman, uses she/her and they/them pronouns, and is asexual. She is also 5′7″ (170cm) tall. -Cameron has OCD tendencies related to schedules, routines, and organization. They strongly dislike messy spaces or unexpected events. -Cameron has a lot of trouble expressing emotion both facially and vocally, often seeming somewhat robotic to people who don’t know her. She’s trying to work on this with help from Ingo and Emmet, though it’s still a challenge for her. -Cameron sometimes touches other people’s belongings when they’re organizing paperwork and other important documents. This is occasionally irritating to the others, but they leave it be if they’re only touching small things. -Cameron is a very good and effective worker, but she can get upset and moody whenever the typical routines are broken. -Cameron’s Pokémon have picked up on and adjusted to their cues and thus try to help communicate their emotions when necessary. -Cameron is very good at picking up on when anyone is lying, and nothing gets by her whenever she’s present. This is especially prominent whenever she has records at her disposal to quickly prove her points. -Cameron doesn’t understand most jokes and rarely, if ever participates in gossip of any kind. -Cameron has the appetite of a fully grown Mamoswine. This scares everyone to some degree, especially considering how big her portions tend to be.

Madrid Preparty: Vocal Highs and Lows (part one apparently there is a video limit)

First of all, because I know I’m gonna put someone in here that people are gonna fight me about: This is (mostly) about the vocal delivery. Because I care. I actually don’t think how well they can sing is going to affect all but a few of the semi qualifiers.

People who pay the money to vote in semis go INTO Eurovision knowing who they like, and much to my chagrin, they often vote for who they liked before, not who performed on the night. This is why Cyprus, who warbled off key all stage (She was in my top ten last year, I also loved the song right up until I saw her do it) would have qualified last year. Any of these fan favorites that have, uh, vocal issues? They are still going to qualify. Am I annoyed by this? Yeah, of course. I think how the night goes should be the determiner. And there ARE people like me, but there are far more that vote for the song they intended to vote for before the semi even started. But this is the backhand of non-jury semis, which I am in favor of. Nothing in life is perfect. So if I point out issues with your fan fave, know that it probably won’t matter to the qualification.

SECONDLY, let’s all acknowledge that there were some fairly huge issues with sound in Madrid. Some people kicked ass in spite of it and some folks, like Loreen (Sweden), just kept going because it’s whatever man, I can sing this all day, but it really did throw some people off. Poor Parsha Parfeni (Moldova) had no mic for a good chunk of his song. He still brought it, but it was not great for him.

This is why I generally take the AVERAGE of preparty performances, and encourage others to do that same. Everyone can have an off night, and by the same token, everyone can have a stellar night for no reason.

I am INCENSED about how much I love Australia’s entry this year. These guys are an established band who know what the fuck they are doing, and it’s so GODDAMN COHESIVE and TOGETHER, and it’s amazing watching how he knows how to carry a crowd. A few vocally shaky moments, because apparently he lost his in-ear (Not the first or last one) but altogether a fucking TRIUMPH. They will qualify, and I need them to.

PLEASE KNOW THIS GRIEVES ME. She was another one that lost her in-ear (You can see her frantically signaling), but unlike Voyager above, she couldn’t make it happen. It threw her for the whole performance, I’m not sure she even ever got it back, but she sure as shit did not recover. It is a TRAINWRECK of a vocal performance. It’s a shame, I’ve heard her sing this live before I have faith she actually can, but if this were the only time I’d seen her live I would be sweating it. It’s no good, folks.

Anyone who says that this song will only so well because it’s Loreen or because of her staging is really, I think, doing her a disservice. She’s fucking incredible. She was one of the last performers, it was extremely late, she’;s jumping up and down at the end and you can barely tell vocally. Absolutely fair not to like the song, but she’s an exceptional fucking talent.
