What would you say are your more controversial opinions about the hp characters?

ohhhh okayyy. i feel like my opinions on a lot of the characters aren’t controversial because i dont feel super strongly towards anyone in any negative light but here are some i could think of at the top of my head:

i’m glad the malfoys faced more extreme backlash after the second wizarding war. a lot of people in the fandom seem to be very sympathetic towards draco and scorpius for getting dogpiled with the brunt of it (which yeah, it sucks, especially for scorpius) but the prejudice makes complete make sense to me. if i was someone who didn’t know scorpius’ character, and had someone from my family get killed in the second war due to death eaters or something— seeing the malfoys still be wealthy and walk around freely without any jailtime, i would be bitter too. they’re hated on but they’re still one of the richest families ever, so they’ll live LOL

another anon has asked about this and i haven’t responded to them yet but when i do i will link it here for my reasons. basically: the best character in the cursed child is harry potter. i think the way they wrote his character and ptsd carried the play. it was def his story, not albus’.

i do think dumbledore has some aspects of him that may be considered morally gray, but mostly i dont think he is. he does everything for the good of the world, and his complete selflessness leads him to sacrifice anything for it— even himself and the people he loves, when necessary. i completely understand why people wouldn’t agree with his methods though.

james potter isn’t a sunshine character he’s a dickhead. fans of him made him a golden retriever character to be more palatable for modern times. i like him the way he is: an asshole and then less of an asshole 👍 this is what true stanning looks like

pansy parkinson is racist and out of all the female side characters, developing HER is so questionable from fandom

harry had questionable descriptions about a lot of male characters to make people think he could be a little 🏳️‍🌈 there was bill, there was sirius, there was cedric. but draco is not a part of that list. harry was not feeling draco whatsoever throughout the series but drarry shippers cling to that one ‘obsessed’ line

furthermore, harry rejecting draco’s offer of friendship wasn’t a sad or a ‘what if’ scene. draco was being a classist piece of shit and harry didnt want to fuck with that, there isnt any way in any timeline he wouldve accepted draco’s friendship.

slytherin sucks just generally lol. people want so bad to pluck anti-heroes out of a series that was written specifically with the mind to make all the characters suck.

hermione and ron’s drama isn’t as toxic as people make it out to be. yes, this includes the time hermione sent birds after him. people act like its the end of the world but she was tackling puberty and the end of society soooo i give her a pass to tweak out.

mostly every harry potter character has horrific names. like literally mostly everyone. even the name harry potter 🙁

movie romione wasn’t that bad LOL

severus snape’s ‘redemption’ or whatever was so ass. he bullies kids for five years and then everything is chill because… true love? on harry’s mum? are you kidding me 💀

weasley family angst goes hard but people (especially percy stans and some ron&ginny stans) acting like they’re the most toxic family to walk the earth make me want to rip my hair out and eat it. molly loves her kids guys shes not evil. jesus.

I DON’T KNOW 😭 I’ve never understood that part???? And how easily everything is resolved????

The end of book 3 tries to hand-wave it off as, “well, Azul implemented a point card system/promotion that was just so good that it compensated for all the negative rumors about the bad things he actually did” but like 💀 even then, I never bought it…

Consider the prices plus how the point card system and its perks work:

Assuming that you need 50 points to get that consultation with Azul + the items listed here are the only ones that qualify toward the point system, that means you'd be spending at LEAST 250 thaumarks (which I'm going to consider the equivalent to 250 USD for the sake of simplicity), if not 300 thaumarks. That's not including any potential tax or tip they may charge on top of the cost of the actual menu items. If you're going for the three-point card perks, you're easily spending 750 to 900 bucks on the Mostro Lounge. Maybe that seems like chump change to some of the rich, privileged kids that attend NRC but that's still a considerable amount of money to spend at one establishment... I'll concede that the argument can be made that this investment is "worth it" because of Azul's consultation being such a useful thing. It seems like you could ask him for anything, so long as its within his means. So yeah, it’s true, his services can be an extremely powerful boon to have on your side (assuming, of course, that he's capable of granting your wish and you agree to the terms set). The issue then becomes a matter of trust between client and Azul.

I don't know about you, but I cannot believe that after Azul tricked and enslaved 220+ students (over a QUARTER of the total student body) with his promises that everyone would so easily forgive what he did and suddenly trust that he wouldn't try pulling similar shit again. And since I doubt any mob would drop 250-300 thaumarks in one day just to get the consultation ASAP (but a bunch of food he can't eat), the points system would be a long term commitment... meaning mobs go into this establishment regularly, knowing that it's run by a guy that would double cross them if it benefitted him, weirdly trusting that he wouldn't???????? Trusting that he had a sudden change of heart and wouldn’t revert back to his old ways???????? Not holding grudges??????? Nah, I don't buy that one bit. AZUL'S REP WOULD BE IN THE TOILET, AND I DON'T THINK A GOOD DEAL ON EATERY LOYALTY WOULD REVERSE THAT... At that point, the mobs are practically begging to be scammed… Also???? The only thing that Crowley technically told Azul he can't do is to take anyone's powers 💀 so literally nothing is stopping Azul from trying to one-up or cheat his clients out of other things... Agreements like the one where he tried to claim Ramshackle Dorm for himself would still be totally valid under Crowley's new but poorly defined restrictions. Why doesn't the headmaster just forbid Azul from running his shady side business altogether 😭 or at least revoke the manager position from Azul?????? The school gets 10% of the lounge’s profits, so maybe Crowley doesn’t want to lose that income—but if that’s the case, why not just put new management in charge and still reap the monetary benefits??? Even just upping the percentage the school takes from their earnings would be more of a punishment…

I'm about to cancel this man on Magicam for his crimes/j I guess this is easily explained by the mob students all being dumb/arrogant, but that’s such a cop-out 😭 My only hope is that volume 3 of the light novel adaptation will go more in-depth about the post-OB backlash Azul experiences (similar to how it did for volume 1) 💦 because the way the game presents it, it feels like he and the Mostro Lounge made an almost immediate comeback 😭 which isn’t realistic at all…

I guess all I have left to say is…

Marie Antoinette girlies baffle me.

Every single time i have seen a video on Marie Antoinette it is literally just someone feeling bad for her and being a complete royal sympathiser, backing it up wiht “she was just a child” no she wasn’t..

She AND Louis were both children when married which is bad and honestly i do feel bad that they had to marry completely blind to what the other person was like and at ages 14/15 honestly that it sad however, when they were crowned king and Queen they weren’t technically children, yes they were still young but they were not babies and knew that they had duties to do as the monarchs or France. People seem to make the decisions that Marie Antoinette was completely innocent and “just a child” when in fact her whole country was starving and dying and all she and her husband could do is practically bathe in money like it grew on trees, and they wonder why there was a rebellion… 💀

Marie Antoinette was actually quite aware of what was going on in France but she just didn’t solve it along with her husband and the weird thing is that the girlies feeling bad for her and saying she deserved so much better don’t say a single word on Louis because apparently he was in the wrong and she wasn’t. If you are going to be a royal sympathiser for her then might as well do it for him too, they did the exact same thing.

Now I know Marie got a bit more backlash becuase she was a women too i understand that and I think all the propaganda and drawings of her were disgusting and absolutely unnecessary but please just remember she was in the wrong and she was arrogant for not helping her country (so was Louis, both were completely at fault) and she wasn’t a child when she was Queen and she wasn’t innocent.

My opinions on this is that the people’s anger was completely justified but a lot of their actions were not e.g. they could’ve let Louis and Marie escape and they should never have done what they did to Madame de lamballe, however at the end of the day Louis and Marie Antoinette were as bad as eachother and should never have ruled France and they weren’t some innocent Pookies we should be idolising or glorifying it is so embarrassing..

My gf and I were talking about transandrophobia and the backlash against the word last night while I was high because she's, obviously, in a lot of trans fem spaces and sees a lot of the backlash herself.

We ended up talking about how part of the issue is when theory crafting of the past used to happen, it was through publishing papers and letter sending. It was people writing madly in diaries and sending love letters to Marx or groups of queers hanging out in someone's apartment smoking weed, talking, and fucking and shit like that. It happened in much more closed spaces that allowed the ideas to be formed more coherently basically. It also does still happen in that way too and it also happens in many many other ways, those are just examples to highlight the fact that often theory crafting happens and has happened in more private settings and then the theory becomes more public once it's published.

Whereas this is the internet, specfically Tumblr of all places. So not only is the conversation way more open and larger, but it's also subjected to knee jerk criticisms way earlier than it can fully stand on it's own legs because it's all happening in real time in an open setting. It also means that people who don't know how to engage in respectful conversations because they view themself as a moral arbiter of truth run rampant. So, harassment campaigns happen, people get run of the site, rumors spread, lies and falsehoods go around like wildfire, etc. etc.

My gf joked that it's like if Marx and Lenin were trying to have an in person conversation and Mao was just there in real time actively agreeing with/disagreeing with/misunderstanding every word before the manifesto was even fully written 💀

It's a really frustrating phenomenon to both of us. She's seen the ways trans fems have actually been harassed by anons claiming to be ""transandrobros"" (some of which probably actually are - some of which are a little doubtful because again - this is Tumblr) but it's still public displays of harassment that shape people's opinions nonetheless. I've seen this kind of cycle on Tumblr for years so it's not fully surprising but it's definitely disheartening - it's definitely a "young adults will be young adults" thing though I think. I just wish people had a little more critical thought.

This is mainly targeted twords Helluva Boss but I'll also include some Hazbin in it too

So, y'all know the concept of Helluva Boss right? Blitzø, Moxxie, Millie, and Loona run a business where they kill sinners rivals in Earth, right? Well if you just think about that you'd know how fucking stupid of an idea it is for a show

I'm just convinced viv one day was like

"Hey! I should make a show with a bunch of horny demons who kill people in real life!"

Without putting even AN INCH consideration through it, she just made the show and was soooo surprised with all the backlash of it

The whole point of I.M.P is fucking pointless, there no point of getting revenge on people in real life cause when they die...omg, THEY'LL GO TO FUCKING HELL, STUCK WITH THE SAME PERSON WHO HATES THEM FOR ALL OF ETERNITY

And sure, there is like a 0.001 percent chance they'll go to heaven, but may I remind you they also share the same hell as Hazbin, and the angels can visit hell, so it wouldn't make a fucking difference cause idk they'd probably piss off the person who paid the I.M.Ps that killed them

As for Hazbin, the plot isn't bad, for once Viv has a good idea, but that doesn't mean it's not shitty, from the first episode it was doomed, this mainly has to do with the extermination

So as y'all know in Hazbin in the first episode Charlie explains how there's an overpopulation so evey year the angels just like fucking kill then all, that's where it doesn't make sense!!!

First of all, how can there be an overpopulation since hell (or I guess pentagram) is very, VERY HUGE, what's the need for an extermination?? Besides when Charlie sang Happy day in hell there where like a shit ton of background characters already getting murdered, hell can literally handle their own overpopulation 💀💀

Second of all, they're already dead, WHERE DO YOU GO AFTER YOUR DEAD?? In the finale where Sir Pentious (sorry if I spelt his name wrong lol) got killed by Adam, he was shown ending up in Heaven with Sera and Emily, so if that's what happens when you get killed, it basically means EVEN IF SINNERS GET KILLED THEY'LL STILL AND UP IN HELL AGAIN, VIV, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK

Third of all is how people are born into hell, it's not really deep as people make it to be, since there's like a lot sex they could just like...yknow?

The whole extermination wasn't thought through and only used as a plot point for the show, and not to mention they never said why Adam moved up the extermination, which makes me pissed off given they don't even bring up again and probably won't cause Adam is dead (thank you Nifty 😭😭)

bradpitt I dislike sharing my private life with the world. Still, when people in my personal life are getting bullied, attacked, and trashy news outlets and fans are saying untrue things, I can't just stay silent.Y/N is the kindest person ever (and the best girlfriend) and doesn't deserve any of this hatred.

But I just also wanted to say, one: There are many different kinds of beautiful. There are many different ways to look healthy and beautiful. When I looked the way you consider my healthy but that in fact wasn’t my healthy. But that’s the first thing: Healthy can look different.

The second thing is you never know what someone is going through. So even if you are coming from a loving place and a caring place, that person is probably working on it or has a support system that they are working on it with, and you never know. So be gentle with each other and with yourselves.

And thirdly, the third one’s unrelated I guess. I just wanted to extend some love your way and tell you that you’re beautiful no matter what phase you’re in. But yeah, sending you guys a lot of love, and I think you’re beautiful, no matter what you’re going through, no matter what weight, no matter how you like to do your makeup these days, no matter what cosmetic procedures you’ve had or not or anything. The concept of sexual liberation is founded on the ideas and conditionings of society that restricts people's sexual expression, ideas that s3x is wrong and sinful and people who have it ought to be ashamed. Liberation in this sense is freeing oneself from those restrictions, the stigma, and shame we internalize and associate with their sexual expression.

For Kpop idols, they are forced to repress those feelings in order to maintain a pure innocent and almost childlike facade. Anything beyond this is met with instant slut shaming and often treated as a scandal for an idol to even say that they are dating as a result of this.

For instance, Park Jimin had to apologize to his audience before giving a performance because a bunch of ladies were going to hover over him as part of the performance.

I'm not a Pink cadet but those girls especially Lisa has been receiving some heavy backlash for her sexy dances and short shorts lately.

Kpop fans enjoy sexualizing idols but hate it when idols sexualize themselves.

Jimin pointed out how it was weird for them to give sexual performances as kids but how now it suits them as they are grown- and yet it is at this grown stage in their lives that people expect them to restrict their sexual expressions. The irony of it.

Jimin wants to be licked and sucked and fucked and there's no shame in that whatsoever. He's not a slut for wanting to experience something as primal as an orgasm.

Namjoon is branded sexist and misogynist for singing about his desires- I admit he could have chosen better words for that but still. Let's not pretend we weren't mad he was expressing his sexual desires for women. Choice words aside, we were going to drag him anyways💀

I’ll be in Paris two weeks before the Olympics. Hopefully that time won’t be as bad?! What are your concerns/complaints?!

i would love to reassure you by saying that it will be calm before the actual games but i don't think so😭 because many people attending are probably gonna arrive days/weeks before just like you, to enjoy their trip. i truly hope you'll have a fun time tho. but (it's long sorry)

our public transports are the absolute worse. even on "slow" days, the traffic sucks. it's REALLY bad. by that i mean : i usually have to wait 20 min-ish before even getting in the subway, even if they come every 2min. and then you'll spent the whole ride playing twisters with complete strangers because of how crowded it is (not my pic but this is one of our busiest station at 9 in the morning. you can't even get on the platform)

all the places are super crowded. restaurants are full. streets are full. people can be rude and irritated because it's just anxiety inducing. and ppl notoriously don't like tourists so don't expect a warm welcome (i'm not proud of that one, i'm not even parisian born and raised here so i'm not like that, but most parisians are sadly)

i think that's obvious for every big city but you have to be very careful with your stuff. there are pickpockets (btw never stop when people ask you for info/signing petition, it's a trick they use to steal)

that won't affect your trip but i just wanted to complain about it : there's a shortage in security so they are asking old retired people to work as security guards. they also kicked some students from their dorm rooms because to accommodate workers at the olympics. they are building infrastructures that are not practical and and roadworks everywhere, and i don't even know if they'll be ready in time. it's just a whole mess and idk if it will be that enjoyable for the attendees

maybe i'm exagerrating because im feeling burned out lately. but that's basically how i feel. note that i've only been to london barcelona and berlin, those cities are like a walk in the park compared to here lol. maybe people from NYC or other really busy cities around the world will tell me that paris is not so bad, but i still don't think we rank very high 💀

i still love it here for many other reasons. but i feel like those issues in our daily life will be 10 times worse with the massive stream of people (but i'm seeing some hotels and air bnb saying that a lot of tourists are canceling their plans lately because of the "backlash", so maybe it won't be that chaotic idk, here's to hope😮‍💨)

SO BEFORE STARTING THIS READING A FEW THINGS I WANT YALL TO BE AWARE OF.

It’s extremely easy to judge someone political engagement when they come from a different country than yourself especially when you’re like, American or Western European and the people you are asking about are Korean, which is still a pretty traditional country when it comes to gender roles.When I read for people, I always try to take into account how their upbringing was different from mine, and try to approach things with curiosity and compassion rather than a “holier than thou” mentality, which truly helps no one.I’m not saying we shouldn’t call them out if they do or sa something sexist, but first of all don’t come at me or at them because of this and second of all check yourself before trying to get other people’s ass.Is the action you’re taking truly helping the cause or are you performing activism just to be proud of yourself and shit on someone else ?

PS: (if you’re unaware of all the backlash openly feminists peopel get in South Korea I beg of you to read upon it before even daring to continue reading this post, because it is I think necessary to know that to truly understanding South Korean feminism and how it became how it is today.

With that in mind, I’ll be using a pendulum and my intuition for this.

Who in BTS considers himself a feminist ?

Namjoon :He strongly affirms himself as a feminist and will not back down despite backlash.He’s aware he lost a lot of ARMYs’ trust because of the mistakes of his younger years, and he’s genuinely sorry and trying to do better, and making tremendous progress at that.He’s so much more aware than he used to be, and a part of him still feels guilty he didn’t know any better.There’s also a small part of him though that’s afraid of crossing the line between “using his privilege to speak out” and “speaking over women”.He’s however certain that he educated himself enough to be able to tell the difference to make sure it doesn’t happen, or is able to fix it if it does.

Seokjin:The pendulum strongly said yes, but I’m getting a bit of “he’s confused but he got the spirit” energy.I think he does considers himself a feminist, but he may feel like he “doesn’t deserve the title” in some way?Likes he’s very aware he hasn’t figured it all out and still needs education, he feels like he needs a lot of education actually but I don’t think he’s that far ?Theres just a lot of self doubt in general wether he’s doing the right thing or not, bu he’s overall very willing to work on it and listen and learn more.

Yoongi :Tbh I almost feel like he was a tiny bit offended that I asked 💀A huge YES again.The respect of humans right, equality and open mindedness have always been part of his value system.I think he had had some personal, up close experiences dealing with toxic masculinity early on in his life and it caused him to question things such a gender roles and gender inequality pretty early on.However he’s still a human being who makes mistakes, but he’s always extents determined to fix them and do better and better and educate himself and others.He might actually have been educating the other members for a long time?Even before debut I’m feeling ?Obviously he isn’t and never was a perfect person who was always able to tell when he said something wrong but I’m really getting the idea he’s quite knowledgeable.

Hoseok: yes again.I’m kinda getting that feminism specifically isn’t his number one priority, but he quite aware of te concept of intersectionality and enjoy learning a lot about it, how being part of certain minorities affect someone’s quality of life,traumas, how they can be put in danger.Don’t kill me but I’m having the feeling that right now he wants to learn a lot about the LGBTQ+ community, it’s history and how it came to being, especially because it’s not talked about at all in South Korea or barely.I think experiencing racism, xenophobia and homophobia ( yes calling BTS gay because they wear make up is homophobia, you don’t need to actually be gay to experience it) opened his eyes to a whole lot of things when BTS started to go big all over the world around 2016-2017.I keep seeing him stumbling upon an ARMY calling him a twink on Twitter then him looking it up an laughing to himself.I don’t actually know how much he can understand English this may not have ever been a true moment but I think it speaks to how curious and open he has become to how diverse can people lives be.

Park Jimin:Another confused but happy to learn boy.I think for him it’s more about internal work than external education.His deep compassion and need to see justice makes him an obvious support to the feminist cause, but he has some internal issues to deal with, linked to toxic masculinity, toxic expectations of himself as a man, gender expression.He also has made tremendous progress in that field but I feel like he’s still unsure of himself, he still catches himself going back to his old beliefs about what kind of person a man should be and suddenly he’s afraid he hasn’t made any progress and is spiraling in self doubt.Somebody tell this man it’s okay to fall sometimes, even if you know better,omg gonna cry he’s genuinely afraid that he may not be doing enough😭buddy you’re light years ahead of most men we know, we all raised our standards thanks to you.

Taehyung:A big yes again.Most definitely identify as a feminist, but he’s still a traditional, family man.Even though he’s feminist he still wants to find someday that family woman who will give him his big family five kids two dogs a pretty picket fence and who will love and cherish him and their kids and be happy being a mother.He will be an extremely involved dad and will expect the same of his spouse.I vote him most likely to rely on his fortune to be a stay at home dad and his spouse also staying at home for some time .He’s perfectly aware though that’s not every woman wants that, and just wants everyone to be able to pursue what they truly want without others butting in thinking they know more than them what’s good for them.Really “live your life the way you want it and mind your business” mindset

Jungkook:heard a “YEAAAAAH” even before grabbing my pendulum .I think he’s emotionally very invested in it ?I think when it comes to the women in his life he’s always ready to help, like making sure someone gets home safe, talking with you on the phone if you’re walking at night in a scary street, calling out creeps and sexual harassment.He may not be that involved like in terms of donations to feminist associations and shit, but on the personal level he kinda uses his privilege.height and muscles to his advantage 💀Like I can see him standing up between an old guy who was whistling at middle schoolers in uniforms very unhappy until the middle schoolers were far enough and explaining calmly to the old guy that he’s being a creepy pedophile and it’s in his best interest to never do that again.In terms of toxic or healthy masculinity I think he’s pretty healthy, but he enjoys being this like, softball baby star candy who looks like he could kill you.He also still has a hard time being completely open with his emotions but it’s more his personality and “I’m only feel pain when hyung is in pain” mindset.

Hi Anon. Well, one would think Nahmias is in the business of selling their clothes. And Charles has a wide following, so they are getting a lot of exposure when he wears their stuff. I've seen Charles fans commenting they like the pants, so it appeals to some people. Or they could just be making excuses because they can see no flaws in Charles... Which I can understand too, because he can usually make even the most ridiculous outfit still look good.

I do really admire Charles's confidence in wearing whatever he wants, even when he's had backlash (like the infamous "clown jeans"). His taste in clothes varies from bold/fashion-forward, boring vanilla, exquisitely stunning, Ferrari fan boy, cuddly/comfy to WTF??! I just have to wonder sometimes whether he's wearing some of his outfits because he likes them, or because the clothes are from a sponsor, and he's getting paid to wear them.
