Author's Note: the community wanted Yandere Horus, so Yandere Horus you all shall have. I hope you enjoy, anon. I'm ok with this, but there's more I wanted to do. But at the end of the day I had to just bite the bullet and post it so I can take a break without this looming over me.
Summary: It's the first real outing since you've been officially named as Horus' beloved, and he realizes how much he dislikes how curious everyone is of you.

And lacking in the drawl of military strategy and logistics. This seems more so like an ineffective way for the High lords of Terra and other high value persons of the Militarium to speak to the Primarchs and their captains, but with wine involved.
As the recently crowned Lady Lupercal, many of those high value persons are now eager to make friends with you, attempting to smile as wide as comfortably possible and earn any sort of good will they can. For many of them speaking to a Primarch, let alone making connections of a Legion would be hysterically rare; Though it seems many of them have the idea to do so through you.
Horus had warned you of it, so you suppose you shouldn't be so surprised.
Only just now have you managed to get away from them all, taking solace in a quiet corner of the palace. A Custodes on guard had given you an odd look- and by look you mean just a glance from the corner of his eyes- but he seems content to allow you somewhat near him as long as you remain quiet. Though you suppose you can't remain here for long. You have to be a part of all this, as much as you might dread it.
“Lady Lupercal?”
You turn the moment you hear the distinctive accent of Macragge-born Guilliman, who approaches you as you stand close to one of the palace's myriad of balconies. That title still feels odd to hear. He brushes just past you to stand on it, and waits until you join him. His head is tilted downward at an angle to make eye contact with you.
It's night now, and you can see the lights of hundreds of ships orbiting Terra up high above. It darkens his armor and the lights of the palace cast a harsh shadow on Guilliman's clean face.
"Had your fill of this evening?"
Normally Guilliman is quite forthright, so his small talk is a bit of a surprise. Everything has lead you to believe he was a very politely blunt sort. Though you've only spoken to the Primarch a handful of times, and very briefly.
Only just recently as Horus has made it known to everyone that you are his beloved, have you begun speaking to his legion; And his fellow Primarchs.
"A little bit. I just need a bit of air, and then I'll come back."
Guilliman crosses his arms over the delicate and expensive looking robes he currently wears, having shed his armor for the evening. It must be from his home world, judging by the interesting style and shape.
"I am a bit surprised he's thrown you to the wolves like this. Before, he was quite secretive about you." You doubt Horus would let you leave his sight unless it was extremely important, and it's not as if you can rely on him forever. Or demand him to stay.
"I assumed someone had managed to catch his attention enough for me to get lost." Guilliman shifts his weight slightly, and lets out a very quiet chuckle. It's sincerity makes you smile.
"Don't tell any of the others, but we've all gotten lost our fair share of times in this maze of a palace." He rubs his temple with two fingers. "It just keeps growing, it's like a Labyrinth. I've begun to wonder if Dorn will ever cease."
His genuine exasperation makes you laugh. It's such a human gesture, and such a human problem. It's quite easy to forget they are human, at times.
You hadn't realized you'd been smiling the whole time, but it grows when you see his disgruntled face. It goes away however when he realizes he amused you.
"If I figure it out before you, maybe I'll make us a map." Guilliman smiles.
"I will hold you to that, you know. If cartography isn't yet familiar to you, perhaps you should begin learning."
You were about to respond to him, a smile on your face, but Guilliman turns his head away towards the inside of the palace; Your own gaze follows shortly thereafter.
He must've heard Horus before he could see him, because not moments later you can see Horus walking towards the both of you; His pelt shifts on his shoulders as he does. He makes a straight line towards the balcony the both of you stand on and ignores anyone else along his path.
"Here you are," Horus smiles at you, but it's not his usual one. The one that's warm and casts the room and a pleasant atmosphere. "I see you've been chatting with one of my brothers." You nod with the smile Guilliman gave you still partly on your face, but before you can speak anything more- perhaps what the two of you were talking about- Horus does so for you.
"Perhaps we should take our leave for the evening. It is quite late, and it seems nothing or anyone worthwhile is going to make it's appearance."
He looks towards Guilliman and for a split second it almost seems like an argument is beginning to brew, with the way they're looking at each other; Guilliman is confused and defensive while Horus' jaw tenses. You can't understand how his mood has so suddenly changed, neither can Guilliman clearly, but it seems something has happened in your absence.
Now you stand literally and figuratively in the middle, before retreating your Primarch's side. He will always serve as your anchor, even when he's this turbulent.
Guilliman simply gives a curt hum in response, and seemingly decides to not uncover Horus' sudden change in disposition.
"Very well. I hope the rest of your evening fares you well," He looks down to you, though the pleasant aura he had has now returned to the cold and structured one he is known for. "And I enjoyed our chat."
Horus gives Guilliman no more than placeholder platitudes and farewells, of which the man takes with a short nod, before leaving with you in tow to return to his chambers.
That entire trip to return to them, is intense.
There is no chatter, and Horus doesn't even have the soft upturn of his lips he usually wears. Instead his face his firm, with something clearly boiling beneath the surface. You wonder if it's something from when he was gone that you could ask about, when he isn't in such a sensitive state.
Even as friendly and easygoing as Horus is, his fellow Primarchs are largely not the same apart from a few, and you wouldn't be surprised if one of them managed to- in a phrase not suited to describe a Primarch- pissed him off.
When you enter the deepest most room in Horus' wing of the palace, what serves as his bedroom, you suddenly feel his hand on your shoulder. You would've turned around even if he hadn't done it for you, as he takes a knee to get more on even height with you. But even with it, you still have to almost look slightly up at him.
Suddenly that hand on your shoulder moves to your face, gripping your jaw and forcing you to look at him. That firm, irritated face has been replaced with an angry, irritated expression. His nose slightly wrinkles at the top, brow furrowed.
He holds your jaw tight, but you’re not fooled into thinking it’s anywhere near him putting in effort.
“What is your title.”
You’re confused for a moment, frightened by the look in his eyes, as he adjusts his grip. You try to stay his name, but it just comes out as a confused stutter. He reiterates with more clarity.
“What is the title I gave you.”
You grasp his wrist tight and whimper out:
“L-Lady Lupercal.”
The noise that arises from him is somewhere between a hum and a growl.
“Did you forget it while you were busy being a little coquette in front of my brother?”
You hadn’t; It had been the focus of your short conversation with Guilliman. You’d tried your hardest to be nothing but polite to him, with the formality expected of speaking to a Primarch. But this is all new to you; Whatever Horus saw wasn’t there, and you’re desperate to prove as such.
"N-No, he just came up to me and I was trying to be polite, Guilli-"
He swallows the name of his fellow primarch with his lips, pressing them against your own. It's angry; Forceful. You can feel his hot breath on your skin as he takes in heavy breaths, and how tense he feels. You moan softly into his mouth but even the brief moment of pleasure is overcast by Horus’ fuming anger.
He pulls away from your lips with a soft pop, and still in a kneel begins undoing the broach of his cape. Once it falls to the floor his eyes meet yours and he states:
"Take it off."
His sentence is vague and you stand unsure in the gargantuan room, as he now removes his wristguards. Once they're off, he puts a hand on your waist and pushes upward, disturbing the fabric of your dress. You feel it pull and stretch against his hand, as if it’s little more than parchment. He could ruin it all in one fell tear.
"I am being patient with you."
It's hard to disobey a primarch, especially one staring at you with those eyes. The fabric of your dress falls to the floor moments later, undone and forgotten. You step out from the circle it makes at your feet.
You imagine the only reason he hadn't simply destroyed it was after having it made just for you, in the colors of the Sons of Horus and to his exact specifications- their legion mother needed to be in worthy attire he has said- his patience won out over the potential days of headache.
But it feels like a blink you go from standing to being nearly swallowed by his sea of a bed, blankets tussled around your naked form. You think you might’ve backed up until you fell onto it, but it’s all a blur.
"The Crusade has taken much of my time, and since I have introduced you to my brothers, perhaps you have forgotten your place,” He says as he undoes the fastening of his belt.
Even on pieces of furniture meant to handle a man of such size it still buckles and bows underneath his weight, shifting your body as he cages you underneath him. His hand grips your thigh, and the sheer size forces them apart. Your body tenses and squirms underneath him.
To think such a short conversation would've had him so fuming, as his hand presses against your cunt. It makes your lips purse and and words that you might’ve considered saying don’t even leave your lips. His fingers roughly press through your folds curl inside of you, an aching stretch that has you squirming underneath him.
Though it’s not as if you have any chance of moving, even the slightest bit of his strength has you completely at his mercy.
You can feel his anger in every motion, but your blood is pounding in your ears enough that you can barely hear him. You think you might've said his name, told him to slow down, but even if you had he doesn't listen in the slightest.
Pulling his hand away from between your thighs he’s quick to flip you onto your stomach, and you lay exposed before you suddenly feel him press again the back of your thighs.
In an odd, impossible to explain way, you at times almost forget that your beloved towers over you at near or over double your height. That he possesses neigh untenable strength.
Now is a moment you do, as he presses his hips against your ass and buries you in the plush material of the bed.
Your fingers grip the blanket like a lifeline as he buries himself as deep as he possibly can, staying for a moment for seemingly little other reason than to torture you. Even with only the slightest bit of his weight on you, you feel trapped and barely able to move.
It's taken time for you to get used to taking Horus without hours of preparation- and while it still does take time, you'll always feel like he's overtaken your entire stomach. It’s that teetering on the edge of pain that has you gasping, a body not made for him being forced to. Horus is normally exceedingly gentle, but less so tonight. He is at least gentle enough as to not break you.
Whatever he saw that wasn't there between you and Guilliman, he seems intent on teaching you a lesson on not doing.
“Horus, pl-“
His massive hand grips the blanket beside your head as he grunts overtop of you.
“You are the legion mother of my sons.”
Your back arches and lips purse as his cock brushes against places so deep that it almost has your eyes watering. You swallow the massive knot in your throat and try not let out enough noise that passersby could hear.
“You will be the mother of my blooded sons, one day.”
The implication has your heart race with fear and something else as the primarch holds you down. You barely have the time to think about it, it only sends a jolt of feeling right down your spine into your gut.
Given his size it’s so easy to push you around, that he often times has to press on your shoulder and hold you like some sort of toy. Even the softest thrust can push you forward and nearly off of him; You don't have the strength to hold strong against it.
Worn and tired your nerves spark from so much sensation, cunt tightening around him. Horus continues to thrust into you with little care and your teeth grind, toes curling.
It feels good, so good, but it teeters on the edge of dangerous. Especially knowing his mood. Then again, sometimes even the simplest things are dangerous, with someone like him.
The primarch curses and swears in both high and low gothic as he finally cums inside of you, the inhuman amount leaking from you when he pulls out.
Horus looks over you, and it seems whatever you’d seen in him earlier is gone- for the time being. Even if you can't look directly at him, it's almost as if you can feel the emotion in the room change. More odd Primarch things, you assume. Not that it matters much in the end.
You lay tired, legs limp as your body aches.
Perhaps in the moment it may feel good, very much so, but oftentimes your body then reminds you that it isn’t made for a Primarch. Particularly one who decides not to be gentle with you.
There has time where no one sees even a hint of you for days, after he's done with you. He apologizes it for it, but you can always tell with that smile of his, he isn't actually apologetic.
He gently pushes you with a hand to that you roll on your back, and you look up at him worried, wondering if he's still angry.
“I am sorry, my love.” His words are sweet like wine, like they so often are, as his hand not gently holds your cheek. He isn't anymore, and you don't question it. You don't want to bring it back.
Though this isn't the first time he's become this way, though it is the first time he's done something physical in response.
“Now that my brothers know of you, I can’t help but feel as if they might take you from me, once they realize how perfect you are.”
There’s words you want to say, many of them, but you can’t manage it. Only a requited whisper of love is what you manage to say. Horus takes it well and his saccharine sweet smile always manages to pull you in and ignore the things behind it.
“I only wish for you to be mine. Always and forever.”

hello this is Anon again. could you please direct me to your favorite Ace Attorney fics? I’ve read pretty much all the popular ones so I’m looking for some more niche ones :) thank you!!
Oh Anon… You sweet, sweet summer child. You have no idea what you’re getting yourself into.
I was already planning on doing an Ace Attorney fic rec list because I wanted to share some of my favorite ones (A lot of the ones I read aren’t on many of the regular fic rec lists, so I wanted to share some ones that I feel like are really good and maybe don’t get enough recognition) So I am very glad you asked Anon, gives me reason to actually continue on my fic rec list! I love sharing my favorite fics!
Most of them are Narumitsu, couple are Krisnix, and some are both. Also a couple stragglers out there without a ship as well. There will also be some smut ones (Don’t judge please lmao) (Also, just saying. There’s no good Krisnix in this fic list, all of it is seen as toxic, I ship them as Toxic Tragic Yuri and they’re not good as a real relationship. Just a disclaimer)
Some will have big blurbs about them from me explaining their plot a little and what I like about them. For others, I’ll just post them because I don’t really feel like talking about them in detail. But I promise they’re all good!
I’m not going to link them this time, cause I dunno how to do that without making a huge mess cause there’s so many and I don’t want my post to be wonky. And I’m also not going to categorize them because I’m eepy and didn’t get enough sleep last night, so you can figure it out yourself Anon lmao.

Perfect by Sideblog: My absolute, all time favorite AA fic! Ever! Literally ever! I don't really wanna talk about the plot because that basically spoils the whole thing and I don't wanna do that to you, you just gotta read it! It is beautifully written and has an amazing concept that I would never think of in a million years! Seriously, so criminally underrated to the point of I have no idea how it doesn’t have like 15,000 hits on A3O. Even though I didn't explain much of the plot, just know that it is incredible and absolutely worth a read. I come back to it sometimes to read it because IT IS THAT GOOD. When I first saw this fic I didn’t really know what to expect because there weren’t any warnings or practically anything. Very mysterious fic. So glad I read it, though. When you get done reading this Anon, you gotta tell me what you think.
El Capo A Fine by tellezara: There’s something incredible about specialized Au fics in which you can tell that despite whatever the Au fic is about, the writer has an absolute love for the subject. This one is about musical instruments and Ace Attorney characters being part of an orchestra, and you can tell that this person has done orchestra before (Or at least thoroughly researched it and has a love for it) because they put in so many facts and interesting tidbits about instruments and the orchestra world that I never knew about and I loved learning about all of it. Fics like these are very special in my opinion because those people write it out of pure love for whatever the subject is and whatever the fandom is. Anyway, fic good. (Makes me wanna write an Ace Attorney choir fic, that’s my speciality)
The Miraculous Disappearance of Phoenix Wright by JJsADragon: Was on a road trip when I first read this and literally could NOT. STOP. READING. HAD ME GRIPPED. EDGE OF CARSEAT. The whole plot is basically a parody of "It's A Wonderful Life" where Phoenix ends up in a universe where he was never born. Which, as you can guess, causes a myriad of problems for the legal world and world in general. I had no idea where the plot was going, didn't know how it was going to end, and WAS TERRIFIED. But. I kept reading anyway. IT IS THAT GOOD.
Miles Edgeworth: The Ace Attorney by Charybdia: I SPENT AGES. AGES. Looking for a good, finished Ace Attorney roleswap fic. And when I found this one I STRUCK GOLD. SWEAR IT. Amazing, love this one. Still come back to it. IT’S GOT OBNOXIOUS THEATRE KID PHOENIX WRIGHT, HOW CAN I NOT LOVE IT? It also is accompanied by art Also, also, We get good friend Larry Butz. WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR?
Carpe Diem (make your lives extraordinary by Elysya): A high school Au featuring theater kid Phoenix, debate kid Miles and third wheel Larry. I loved this one. It’s also just super interesting. The developing relationship between Phoenix and Miles is one that I really like as they’re both messy teenagers and really gotta work out their flaws if they wanna be together.
Begone Dull Care by VivaRockSteady: A good Au fic surrounding patient Miles and nurse Phoenix. Goes into good detail about recovering from suicide and depression, and recovering from other mental health issues. Also check out some of the other fics by this writer. One is an Au of the Truman Show and the other is a Roman/Greek Au that I found incredibly interesting.
if you leave the light on by AngstinSpace: A very good fic. I was reading this one in my study hall and my teacher was playing calming piano music that was kinda sad/melancholic and I started tearing up in class because I was feeling all the emotions. Girl this is good, go read it.
I used to think people were good but now I just think they’re people by thebirdsandtheboxes: SEVERELY UNDERRATED. Super good and goes very in-depth into Phoenix’s disbarment period and how he and his friends and family react. Also has some good Asexual!Miles moments.
This man is not your boyfriend by its_ok_inside: AN AMAZING FIC CENTERING AROUND PHOENIX HAVING AMNESIA AND MILES HELPING HIM DEAL WITH IT. Hilarious. Super funny. I love it. Also is accompanied by some artwork. FUCK YEAH THIS FIC. A classic.
Surviving You by pantswarrior: I’m pretty sure this is an older fic that got moved, and it kinda shows that in its writing (Yk those fics that you can tell were written in the 2000s/early 2010s based on their vocabulary and thoughts on gay relationships? Kinda like that) but it’s good. Very good.
A False Start by theacegrace: A phenomenal fic centered around Bratworth!Miles meeting Feenie!Phoenix and Miles praying that Phoenix doesn’t get accused of murder when he sees Phoenix with Dahlia. Loved this one so much and came back to it a couple times.
Chicago Noel by canonlacrush: A classic. There used to be an Au a while back that everyone was obsessed with and it was a bakery/mafia Au. I wish there were more fics that catered to that Au but they’re hard to find. Anyway, this one is great.
Maybe In Time You’ll Want To Be Mine by YourAverageBystander: A time loop fic that I absolutely adore. Y’all really gotta key in on these Ace Attorney time loop/time travel fics, there’s a couple in here. THEY ARE A TREASURE.
Turnabout Sole by CollaboralDamage: An awesome bodyswap fic. DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO FIND BODY SWAP FIC IN THIS FANDOM?! And this one is good. Very good. Liked it a lot.
Shared Work Space by nerdyskeleton: I think the fic’s summary works best here “It was the best of times, it was the worst of time when Miles Edgeworth discovers he likes to be called Daddy”.
Shear Luck by TopazEstrella: One that I didn’t really know what to think of when I first kept seeing it on my search for Narumitsu fics, but I’m very glad I read it. It’s different, but I like it. Has some Krisnix in it.
The Illusion Of Control by Ekat: Amazing. Loved it. Takes place in an alternate universe where Miles died and Gregory didn’t. Has a lot of found family dynamics featuring Mr. Edgeworth, Phoenix and Ray.
Tight Lesh by Ensiy: I come back to this one often. One of the only fics that has good Kristoph and Miles interaction. They’re both catty bitches to each other. Has some Krisnix in it.
Out of Order by canolacrush: A super cute fic where Miles gets a haircut and Phoenix gets a crush. I re-read it a lot because it’s super cute and really fluffy.
With The Phases Of The Moon by Puddor: One I come back to often for a couple of moments. Really love it. One of the good Werewolf!Phoenix and Vampire!Miles fics.
You Ever Been In Love? by hechima: Loved this one a lot. We love the Wright gang trying to matchmake. A classic in terms of AA fics and for good reason.
Observe and Record by MAVEfm: An introspective Miles fic detailing him and his personal journal. I really like this one. Has some Krisnix in it.
Pressing Pursuit ~ Cornered by viviaciousbarkbeast: Love this one. I think this was one of the first AA fics I’ve read. Has some Krisnix in it.
That Man by Sunshine_And_Starlight: A really good fic. It has one of my favorite tropes and I come back to it for certain moments that I really like and wanna read again.
A Badge Of Honor by sunsmasher: Really loved this one. I also come back to re-read it cause it’s just so funny and awkward and hilarious.
Awkward Business by hechima: I’m a sucker for this trope! You’ll see what I mean when you read it. It’s all gold! I still come back to this one.
wait (they don’t love you like I love you) by Samioli: Super good fic detailing Miles finding out about all Phoenix’s past relationships.
parallelogram by zombiekittiez: Such a slay fic, has a strange premise at first BUT we get Shakespeare references so that’s a big plus.
All There Is by sunsmasher: Loved it. A really good look into Krisnix as a relationship and dealing with sexual trauma.
London, 2021 by syailendra: Has a lot of good moments. I come back to this one a lot. Has some Krisnix in it.
Sketched Memories by gen: LOVED THIS ONE. OBSESSED. You just gotta read it. It’s a recent one but VERY GOOD.
Archaeology by sunsmasher: Everyone eats pizza, and truamadumps. Just a typical day at the Wright Anything Agency.
Dancer In The Dark by klaviersimp: Ahhh, I love this fic a lot. It holds a special place in my heart. Little suggestive but I like it.
dig my nails into the wound by gavinnersworldtour: A very good Krisnix fic. Delicious. I love this one.
Temptation by crayoncompanion: An interesting one that I can’t help but really love.
Hot, Sticky, Sweet by mutxnts: A really good fic. I CRAVE a continuation but it’s a one-shot.
Sin. Eater by potatomin: A very good Demon!Miles and Angel!Phoenix fic. Makes you want more.
romance is not dead (if you keep it just yours) by Samioli: This one was just sweet. I liked it a lot.

And that’s most of them! There’s definately more, but those are the ones that really made an impression on me and that I think about a lot (And also the ones I could find easily without having to check every one of my bookmarks) You can find more that way if you want though! By looking through my bookmarks on A3O that is. That’s what I do sometimes with other A3O members and it’s worked out well (Look for the Buddy Daddies fics in my bookmarks, that’s where most of them start but definitely check my bookmarks, there’s a couple good ones I can’t find at the moment that I know are in there). But I also recommend doing your own research too, it doesn’t seem like fun but when you end up finding one of the hidden gem fics it’s totally worth it.
Here’s some advice, buddy, try to start at the beginning, like go all the way down to the last folder on A3O, but maybe first search for an AA tag that you know will have a smaller fic pool and go from there. And when you find an author you like, try and check out if they have some other AA fics. Most of the writers of the fics I have recommended have more Ace Attorney fics in their arsenal that I’ve read and enjoyed and just didn’t wanna put on here, so check them out!
Btw Anon, if you want the more… Darker fics that I like (There aren’t many, but there’s a couple) DM me because I don’t wanna give those out publicly since it just makes me sorta uncomfy and I don’t want others to be uncomfy. This also goes for smuttier fics that I don’t feel like sharing at the moment.
Sorry if this was a lot Anon, I just love fanfiction, it’s definately one of the more interesting art forms out there, and think a lot of the ones I read deserve to be shared!

being aroace in fandom spaces is kinda hard, actually.
(a note before i continue: this is based mainly on my experience in the Genshin Impact fandom.. on places that aren’t Tumblr. of course, fandom is diverse, and if you experienced any of this.. yeahhhh…)
for a lot of fandoms, the main grip people have on the media produced is around the characters, rather than the world.
people will see themselves in these fictional people, placing them in situations and making up little ideas on things not really shared.
and with queer people, that leads to a lot of headcanons of being, well, queer.
and eventually, fandom will lead to pairings. people will put two characters together, whether it be on personality, appearance, story, or a myriad of other things.
and when a ship gets popular, mainstream even, people are very quick to defend it.
how does this relate to being aroace? because people will defend their favorites against anything that might suggest the person is against their pairing.
in a few fandoms, i’ve seen people call aroace an excuse to not ship people. that’s right: some people in fandom see aroace headcanons a way to call them wrong. characters being called aroace will have angry fans raving on about how you’re “erasing rep” or comparing you to people who put characters in straight pairings (which is another thing itself). i’ve seen people, allo people, call popular characters aroace so others won’t get mad for not liking a rarepair. a character could blatantly say (or their story could say), they don’t make close relationships, and people would twist that away from the aromantic and asexual spectrum (aromantic specifically). and that doesn’t even touch on how a lot of allo fandom-goers don’t even acknowledge identities such as aplatonic—ones that seem strange or even alien to them.
and that doesn’t even include canon a-spec characters. or characters where asexual/aromantic is a commonly accepted headcanon.
allos that ship these characters will, without fail, say that “asexual and aromantic is a spectrum!”. now, i’m not saying it’s not true, because it is. but that point isn’t being thought about, especially in the way these relationships are portrayed. ace-spec and aro-spec relationships (based on the experiences of others i’ve seen, here and elsewhere) are inherently different than two allo people. being aro/ace (or aspec in general, really) makes you different. how the individual aligns with romance/sex/love in general is different, but the difference is something that a lot of allo people don’t seem to recognize.
anyway i’m just mad my identity is often seen as an “excuse” to allo people
(note 2: if you can guess which genshin ship i’m talking about you get a virtual high five)
(note 3: this is going up on valentine’s day [in my time at least lmao] specifically because i feel like it’s important to take note of this while going through fandom. maybe next time you can spot it and point out how harmful it is :p)

Armitage Hux Headcanons
okay so I'm back at it again with the Hux brainrot. I was hoping to do another little fanfic tonight but I just don't quite have the creative energy for that rn, so instead I decided I'd finally collect all the random Hux headcanons that have been living in my head rent free for years and finally send them out into the world.
General Armitage Hux headcanons below the cut since this got a little long -- oops!
he hates being cold when he sleeps since it reminds him of his childhood. arkanis was cold and rainy, the ships that took them into the unknown regions were cold and sterile. so now that he has his own private chambers, he makes sure to keep a pile of blankets on the bed.
his mother was a baker and was particularly known for her breads. when armitage was little, she would cut slices of warm bread, smother them with butter, then dust sugar and spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, or cloves on top (or whatever the space equivalent of those are). because of this, the smell of bread and/or spices always reminds him of his mother, although aboard first order ships, it's not something he smells often.
he was bullied pretty ruthlessly at the academy. his slight frame, unique hair, and status as a bastard were all mocked and taunted almost constantly. he tried to ignore it most of the time, feigning indifference, but it actually fostered in him a deep-seated mistrust and fear of his peers.
following off that, he struggles to make personal connections with members of his crew. not that the first order really encourages that sort of thing, but friendships and other connections are pretty much bound to happen when you live and work with the same group of people. so he sees that other personnel are closer with each other than others, but whenever he makes an attempt to be more than strictly professional, people always seem put off. this is mostly because he has had so few friends, so he's incredibly awkward and unsure of what to do in a social situation (he's just like me fr fr). it's a vicious cycle.
the visual encyclopedia for tros said that pr*de was friends with both br*ndol and his wife (altho I deny that most of tros happened, just putting that out there. Hux Lives). this is just another reason that he hates pr*de, bc when he came to visit, he would join in with armitage's father and step-mother in belittling him.
he is constantly picking at the skin around his fingernails, often without even realizing he's doing it. this is another reason he prefers to wear gloves at all times when in the sight of others, so no one can see all the tiny little infected cuts on his fingers where he pulled the skin away. this is very much a symptom of his anxiety/paranoia. (also, this one is just completely me projecting lmao)
whenever he's planetside, he struggles to sleep (not that he sleeps very much or very well anyway, but it's even worse when he's planetside). he always assumed it was just the change of environment, which does account for part of it. but actually it's the silence he can't stand. on the finalizer or whatever other ship he might be on, there is the constant whirring and humming of machines. air circulators and the huge engines that keep the whole ship running along with the chatter of droids and the myriad other machines that all contribute to a thick blanket of white noise. the absence of it makes him uneasy, even though he doesn't know that it's the lack of noise that gives him the feeling of being unsettled.
he considers the huge polished war ships of the first order to be his home, but he does think about the sea on arkanis sometimes. fleeting memories will come back to him in dreams, or when he's collapsed in a state of semi-consciousness after overworking himself again. he remembers the crashing waves, the waters that shifted from deep blue to slate grey, the smell of salt on the wind, the screech of seabirds high above, the feeling of the sea spray on his cheeks and the waves lapping at his feet. he dreams of it and, although he will never admit it, he misses the sea.

Ah, I suppose the majority of my Barduil prompts/fics. I don't know if the fandom would allow me to kill either of them aha.

Oil and Water my latest Barduil fic. I just don't have it in me to write for them anymore. I don't know why and genuinely there are a gamut of Barduil fic out there being actively written and updates. My works would not be missed so it's all good.

Emotion- inner turmoil, perhaps dialogue.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?:
Updating, maybe description of the world around the characters.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?:
It's fine, but can be a bit clunky and generally adding translations somewhere kind of pulls me out of a fic, but that is my own opinion on it.

Yu Gi Oh, babeeeey!

Probably the one I am hoping to finish this week, Thrall. It is my magnum opus to be quite dramatic about it. I don't think I've ever written anything like it before.
It's very different to the sweet fluffy works I did for Barduil.
But given the characters, it is quite fitting. I have loved and hated writing it. I have had many emotions writing it and gained and lost very close friends while writing it so it harbours a lot of hurt.

badlydrawnnsodu,,, is just badly drawn new seasons of despair universe stuff! the art gallery thread in our server has had doodles of the stuff posted, and. we joked a little about having this blog, but thanks to impulse, i have successfully just- done this LMAO [-zenith]
what exactly is the new seasons of despair universe?
- to put it simply, it's a fanganronpa universe made by zenith. the characters drawn here are the participants, backups, and/or hosts in each and [almost] every one! does this count as cast art? probably. are we gonna make people pay for it?

- nsodu is separated into seasons, and within these seasons are episodes. what do the episodes contain? the killing games, of course. we're still on the first season, but we're going strong with twenty-one (21) games! from zero to the twentieth.
- we run a roleplay server for the series, from the 15th episode down to the 20th. applications for it are closed, but spectators are absolutely welcome to watch the show when it happens! maybe you'll have a chance when we open up submissions again...

For you, my mind instantly went to one of my all-time favorite SW characters, Hera Syndulla. I can 1000000% picture Hera blasting (space) Foo Fighters and Fleetwood Mac in the cockpit of the Ghost while flying through the skies. She hasn't been home in a while, but she still loves to reminisce about the spring season on Ryloth, and would one day love to take you there. Or perhaps on a sunset flight through the clouds of Bespin. There's nothing that Hera loves more than flying and being in the skies with her loved ones around her.
You weren't sure how long you'd simply been idling in the sky, watching the clouds change color as the sun set on the horizon. And if someone asked you to describe the sunset on Bespin, you weren't sure you'd even have the words to describe the myriad of colors and beauty it held.
They'd simply have to see if for themselves.
The quiet ambience of the cockpit was broken by the beeping of your girlfriend's murderbot. It sounded like whining. If that were even possible. But you knew Chopper loved whining almost as much as he loved violence.
"What did I tell you?" came the voice of your girlfriend. Hera popped out, her brows crunched with frustration. "Did you finish the repairs?"
There was some indignant beeping and wobbling.
Hera did not look impressed. "Uh-uh. Get to it."
Chopper rolled away with no small amount of grumbling. And Hera sank into the pilot's chair with a groan.
You simply couldn't help your laugh, leaning over to kiss her cheek. Hera's lip twitched up.
"Kids these days, huh?" you joked.
"Ergh, why is he so frustrating?"
You knew Hera loved that droid more than just about anything, but she was right, he could be frustrating.
"Hera, relax." You stood, coming to stand behind her, lightly massaging her shoulders through her ever-present flight suit. Hera's head drooped back, and she looked at you with grateful green eyes.
"Thank you."
You smiled and kissed her forehead. Hera looked forward again, a relaxed smile playing on her lips, and you wrapped your arms around her shoulders. She reached up, lightly tracing the floral tattoos on your arm, having memorized them long ago. And the two of you simply watched the sunset, a moment of respite amongst the chaos around you.

I took a while to think on this one, because I wanted to get it right. But as soon as it hit me, a whole world of stuff popped into my head. So I envisioned you as a tattoo artist on Coruscant who suddenly saw an influx of clone troopers at the beginning of the war. When the Jedi encouraged them to give themselves nicknames, personalized armor, fun hairstyles, all that jazz, many of them branched out to get tattoos as well. I headcanon that Fives and Echo came in not long after "Rookies," Fives wanting to get something to remember his batchers by. Echo came by for moral support, not really being one for tattoos. But over the years, Fives started coming in with other brothers, always regaling you with stories of their latest missions and lots of bad jokes. So over time, I see Fives coming to see you as not only a friend, but the closest thing he's ever had to a sister. You become someone he can vent to when a mission has been particularly trying. Someone who always has snacks on hand. Someone who can give him shit but ultimately hugs him and tells him to be safe.
"Please tell me you're kidding."
Fives' smile did not falter. And you had to suddenly pause in your work, the tattoo gun turning off and being set aside.
"Nope." He popped the "p."
"You should've seen in," Jesse said, relaxing a bit into the chair. He was lying on his side, blue ink glistening on his skin a bit in half-completed geometric patterns.
Hardcase.
You thought briefly of the more hyperactive clone. He'd always been fun. You'd miss him.
But that wasn't the point right now. Right now, Fives was telling you all about the latest shenanigans of his general, who you could swear did not possess an ounce of impulse-control.
"He had to know that jumping onto the back of an angry acklay was a bad idea."
Apparently General Skywalker had a new scar or two to commemorate his latest victory.
Fives and Jesse gave similar grins and shrugs.
"It's General Skywalker," Jesse explained away. "Never know what he's going to do next."
You shook your head, amazed how he was still alive, and turned back to Jesse's ribs. About twenty minutes later, Fives had not run out of things to tell you, but you'd finished working on Jesse.
You lightly bandanged the new tattoo, going through the aftercare with Jesse.
"Leave the bandage on for 1-3 hours, then wash with warm water and antibacterial soap. Pat dry and apply bacta cream. Do you need more?"
"Nah, I've got some."
"Good." You turned to Fives. "Do you need a touch up?"
You weren't talking about the little number 5 on his forehead. Rather, the large hand print on his chest.
"No, it's holding up. You do good work."
You smiled at the compliment. You snapped off your gloves and got up from your chair, hugging Fives.
"Be careful out there, okay?" You weren't sure the next time you were going to see him. Could be weeks. Could be months.
Could be never again.
"You know me," Fives chuckled hugging you warmly.
"That's why I'm saying it."
Fives laughed again. He kissed you on the cheek before stepping back, joining Jesse.
"See ya, vod'ika."
Your chest bloomed with warmth at the term. And you smiled as the pair left the shop.
You really hoped you'd get to see them both again.

So for the dealer's choice, I went for a SW bestie. And for you, I chose the one and only Leia Organa. Honestly I could see the two of you palling around, complaining about homework and school in your favorite coffee shop. You two are regulars. The baristas know your names and orders by heart and can even tell when you're going to switch your order to a double concentrated cold brew or an iced vanilla latte by the way you two walk in to the place.
Leia had never quite grown out of the desire to run from the palace, even as a teenager. Long gone were the days where she snuck out to the woods with Lola, but she still found a relieving freedom in the days where you two walked from campus to the coffee shop you frequented to work on your respective piles of homework.
Or more accurately, complain about your respective piles of homework.
Because honestly, what were the instructors thinking, assigning 200 pages of reading, two research papers, and a group presentation just before you were due to go on break?
You scowled over at your bag, where your pad and materials were packed away, ready to be worked on.
You did not want to.
Leia's parents had been gracious when their daughter had requested the opportunity to attend regular school. For a chance to live outside the palace, with more than just her tutors and diplomats for company. Leia excelled at school.
When she wanted to.
Your best friend's gaze was narrowed on her own pile of things, eyeing them like they were that cousin of hers she didn't like. Your lips twitched at the sight of it.
"I could just order them to give me a passing grade," Leia was saying. You snorted. Leia would never actually abuse her position and status like that, but it was an amusing thought.
"I'm not sure Nevsan would go for that."
Leia rolled her eyes at the mention of your Economic Policy instructor. As ancient as he was stuffy, Nevsan was the type of instructor to brag at the beginning of each term that his class was the hardest you'd ever take. And the most important.
It was neither, but his outdated lessons and archaic methods made the class frustrating. Even if Leia weren't a princess, with a position that required her to learn galactic economic policy, she would've had to take the class, as it was required for all students.
Ugh.

i think the anon has a point tho! CW has done well with YA shows before. tvd, the 100, PLL, idk so so many ya shows that also typically followed the love triangles and various interesting cast of side characters. S and B hasn't even come close. (The 100 is a bit different maybe in the sense that it also got a fair share of adult viewers ig and it was generally less trashed on at least in the earlier seasons.)
I get that sab is a fantasy setting so might have more lore etc, but it's not a very COMPLICATED world to understand. in fact a lot of it is like this group has fire powers, this group has healing powers etc. (And they've got colour coded uniforms too!), the royal family and many citizens have no powers so they're the muggle equivalent, and the muggles are largely more dominating in this world. that's really the biggest chunk of what needs to be understood at a superficial level for the first book/season to make sense.
Additional info like the larger world can come in eventually, but things like tvd also would randomly come up with lore and audiences would just roll with it. Like ohkay now in s2 we have werewolves and also the blood of this x thing can cure vampirism and there is also some bloodline connection and hunter theory and whatnot??
Maybe it's the dumping of all the episodes in one go, but maybe it's also that sab just didn't capture non book folks as much that they'd want to make theories etc as to what's gonna happen. It just didn't create the fandom that it was supposed to. Book fans know the first one was the best one lol, and then it's the crows books that are more fun because of the heist. And non book fans didn't care all that much. And maybe this is my darklina bias but for most ya stuff you need a good romance subplot and sorry but ma*linas meadow scenes were a snoozefest for me. I couldn't care less and didn't want to sit through 10 meadow scenes. (The darklina scenes were good but those are probably done now)
You could generate enough debate or hype around character decisions and actions but the gregverse throws away all nuance in favour of making the darkling evil and where's the fun in that? So maybe have the main character face difficult choices? But it's basically alina has to do x y z to stop the evil darkling but now that she has done x y z she's gonna get punished? Was she given a choice between choosing more power vs taking more difficult paths to defeat the darkling? No she wasn't. So is there a fun love triangle where we can have folks pick a team? Nope, she has multiple love interests but one is an evil guy, the other is her childhood crush who in the show is perfect. The result is a decent ish show but not strong enough to keep pulling viewers back in.
I'm curious to see how the show fares after Season 2 because I think it will give us an idea of how many people are still invested. Are non-book fans going to tune in to another season? Will they go back and binge the first season to refresh? How will show darklina shippers deal with the darklina arc being derailed and demonized? Most of them already seem disappointed with the direction of the source material and have shied away from picking up the books as a result. Will the Mal and Alina dynamic be interesting enough to keep people rooting for them? And more deliciously, will there be a similar audience backlash if Alina loses her powers? 😈
I just don't think the source material for the original trilogy is really strong enough for non-book fans to actually enjoy. Even regular old book fans are salty about a myriad of things, let alone have much hope for how they could be adapted for the screen.
As for the love triangle, I think general audiences are getting annoyed with the overuse of the trope. Even Leigh clearly understood she played with fire by adding that Alina-Darkling-Mal-Nikolai love quadrangle because it left so much of the fandom against her canon ship that she conveniently had all the main characters of the Six of Crows franchise in safe one-to-one ships to avoid potential backlash.

so first of all i got the terry campfire scene which made me FUCKING INSANE OH MY GOD first of all i love terry's myriad of facial expressions, he really goes from :) to :( to :D so fast and i feel like this is the first time brad's actually admitted anything like this at all because he has to act like he knows what he's doing at all times, and this is like the ONE TIME he feels safe enough to be honest, and it's just so much!!!!! AND THE FUCKING!!!!! HOW THE LISA HALLUCINATIONS FADE!!!!!! AND YOU'RE STILL WELL RESTED DESPITE THE CONVO!!!!!!! AND THE HALLUCINATIONS DON'T COME BACK AFTERWARDS!!!!!!!!! HOLY FUCK DUDE!!!!!! i don't ship them but i can only imagine how happy you are if you do!!! regardless it was. it was so fucking good!! i don't even care that it means brad telling buddy he's never been hugged before is kind of a lie lmao he's still never been hugged by a family member so that's something

part of me wanted to try finally recruiting buckets but i just couldn't do it lmao i'm too much of a softie to keep sacrificing my guys to RR, but one day i'll shove down all of my guilt and do it. i did recruit basically everyone else except for rooster bc i just gave him his chicken back bc i'm nice, crisp bc i just gave him his boyfriend back bc i'm nice, clint bc i never had enough mags, and jack because i just forgot about him LOL but i think i got everyone else, including some guys i hadn't gotten before.
i had my usual angry sob fest at the fact that TO BEAT THE GAME YOU HAVE TO KNOCK BOTH OF YOUR KIDS UNCONSCIOUS, and i'll also never not cry at how the marty fight has "marty armstrong/father" and the brad fight in joyful has "nobody/dad". gghghghghghhghg!!!! i didn't notice many differences, i put terry in my final party because i wanted to HURT MYSELF but all of his dialogue was the same. nothing wrong with that, i was just wondering about it beforehand.
so that's playthru #1 down (of the DE, i've probably played at least 10 times, maybe more), i'll start joyful tomorrow, and i'm gonna replace painful however long it takes to get all of the campfire convos i want!! i especially want to FINALLY figure out how old everyone is! i thought i had something with nern but NOOOOOOO and like i have my own theories and stuff but man i don't fucking know we have so little to go off of

Oh wow, I'm a different korean anon but I'm so glad I'm not alone in my experiences.
I've been considering taking a step back in the last week from online spaces for kpop. Because I'm korean but wasn't raised there (well kind of, my family went back and forth), I have always loved kpop as like a bridge for me between myself and my culture and people.
But I'm a really big Twice fangirl (what can I say) and seeing the overwhelming fandom response to Sana this past seven days has made me feel really unwelcome in the space, erased, harmed.
Essentially, after her behavior with Wendy, the split between K-once and I-once was very severe. Queer K-once was so fine about the interview and knew she was being legitimately flirtatious because, lets be real, the woman has been signalling that for a long time. Most of us think she's not straight and accept her and we joke about it amongst ourselves. She clearly had a crush and it was really sweet. But then I flicked over to I-once twitter and it was a hot bed of orientalism and homophobia.
There were a lot of comments like "there will only be one or two sapphics in all of kpop, don't get it twisted" (there's like 2000/3000 idols...), and "lesbians are always butch and Sana is femme, she's a straight woman" and "korean lesbians are real but they are very oppressed so they never be themselves in public so this is all fake". The queerbaiting accusations have followed that woman for a long time when IMO its very obvious that her in group ships are normal kpop bait like anyone else (which, is what it is), but her behavior external from that which is also queer is different. But of course white women all over twitter were saying "she's baiting me, she's baiting you, you're all stupid if you think an asian is into other women" just because the woman had a blatant crush on another woman and struggled to not show it.
It's been a hard week. I am very similar to Sana in that I'm a like high femme so I get erased all of the time because of my presentation AND my race. At the start I tried to weigh in and school people on making assumptions about korean culture and queer korean culture but it just never gets anywhere.
It feels to me like a lot of Westerners have gotten into kpop in the last couple of years after Dynamite. And a lot of them are perfectly ok with consuming the actual queerbait, like oh here's two of the most popular men in this group kissing each other, but if an idol acts queer outside of those confines, it has to be policed away through this myriad of arguments around race. I've noticed too that the way these people view sapphic women in particular is very problematic, in that if an idol skews remotely masc, they are more willing to accept her queerness as sincere than if she is femme, which is a huge stereotype. That doesn't mean they are willing to accept it though. I've seen these people say, even after Shutdown, that Moonbyul is baiting or you can't call her a sapphic woman because its problematic lol.
Speaking to Wendy, who is problematic I don't disagree with anyone there, but she basically soft came out (as bisexual) not long ago on her show. And I saw so many Western queer women explain it away as her "baiting" because she has a "big lesbian audience in korea", so therefore nothing she can say can be sincere to her. I even saw people trying to explain it away by saying it was a mistranslation (it was not, I speak korean lmao). There's this underlying conniving quality written into everything east asians do in the minds of racists, and its extrapolated here. It's like these Western women can't comprehend that maybe Wendy has a lot of lesbian fans in korea because of something that's been perceived about her, and not because she's manipulative. I also saw Western women say things like "well sure, what she said is bisexual but I don't think its real until she dates a woman" which is clear biphobia but they don't think it is when applied to an Asian woman. It's like these people can grasp that Wendy can't confirmed date a woman in public, but they require her to in order for her statements to have meaning. They know she can't completely come out, but at the same time if she doesn't, nothing else she says matters.
Anyway I'm sorry for your inbox being full of long rants now, but that anon's story really hit home with me. Sana for me is an idol who has given me a lot of validation and, having met her more than once, I know she's a sincere woman who isn't an evil queerbaiting whatever but a kind woman who is very aware of queerness and queer people expressing herself, and seeing primarily white colonizers from the US (which is a whole dynamic here in and of itself) dismiss queer women or the idea of them in east asia is almost traumatic.
honestly kpop is such a nice connection to skorean life and experience because it's rly the ambient music of life here like u go to the market and it's just playing, everyone hears it even if they aren't into it it's just the background noise of living here.
sorry u had to read all that, it's literally just wrong. and it's so many ppl being wrong at once it's rly frustrating and is actually political violence. intl kpop fans are such a hotbed of political violence because when it's a colonized ppl ur talking about there's so much projection and the stuff they say reflects their values so much more than it describes the people they're talking about.
side note tho femme is a historically based sexual and social role not a presentation label on a scale! high femme does not mean dresses more feminine it has a specific sexual meaning in butch femme communities and history!

Since I’m on a roll after redrawing my first HTTYD oc, let me just slide onto here and talk about my current HTTYD ocs as well <3
Siri Elisabeth Vínteri;
Siri!! The baby!! She is the first current oc I created, back in December of 2019 and quickly became my favorite, even tho she was made so I could have an oc to join in on the HTTYD oc fandom on Instagram with. However, after her sweet nature and lovable tendencies developed, she captured my cold heart and opened up room for a whole branch of ocs.
Despite in a branch of the rowdy Hofferson family, Siri has proven herself to be a sunshine with a heart of gold. Her first instinct is to be kind to the people she meets and her forgiveness knows no bounds, even if this makes her naïve. She is the most caring and loving character I’ve ever created, which honestly made her even more of a treasure to me. I adore her qualities and personality, as she gives off total comfort energy. I just <333. Baby.
Siri’s Dragon is a sassy diva of a Deadly Nadder named Funnet and is friends with Gustav Larson (they fall in love at the end of their teens and marry and start a family in their mid-twenties, cute babies ship) and is four years younger than Hiccup and the Gang. She’s also quite close with Astrid and ends up having a total of three kids with Gus; Niv, her son, and Sunniva and Helene, her daughters. Siri’s story is actually the prequel to Niv’s story, which is funny considering I created her long before Niv.
Niv Fanghook Larson;
The goodest of bois! Niv is one complicated cookie and I adore him. He is Siri’s son and oldest child, having been born when she was almost 23. However, he was believed to have been born sleeping and was given a traditional viking funeral, something that left his mother heartbroken for years to come.
However, Niv survived as his status was actually a medical situation as the result of an early birth, and was rescued and raised by a tribe of assassins, the Myriad Tribe. Here, he was adopted by a man named Bendik (whose brother actually has ties back to Siri, having met her in their teens) and his wife. However, Niv never stopped longing for his birth parents, as life in the Myriad Tribe was cruel and hostile, filled with murder and faceless men giving assignments. Thus, the young boy made it his life goal to one day find his mom and dad.
Niv is actually the main character between all of my HTTYD ocs! His story is the most interesting for me and I adore playing around with all the different possibilities in his plotline. His sassy attitude and edgelord tendencies crack me up as well lmao.
He’s just such a good boi and I love to talk more about him <3
Sunniva Funnet Larson;
Niv’s little sister and Siri’s first daughter! She is very analytical, quiet and turned towards herself, but passionate as can be. Being a daddy’s girl, she gets along with her dad Gustav perfectly, something Siri absolutely adores. Their little family remains the three of them for a long time and they love each other to death.
Sunni is on the autism spectrum and has a special interest in herbs and medicine, as well as all and everything Dragons, something her parents stimulate greatly and support with all their might (she mainly adores Fanghook and Toothless, thinking they’re cool). She also loves to talk to her parents’ peers, calling them her “grown up friends”, mainly adoring Snotlout. She thinks he’s cool and likes to talk to him about the olden days <3
Unfortunately, Sunni’s story is still a bit up in the air, as she is actually one of my newest ocs! However, I am stoked to craft her story and plotline as I do adore her character and little quips. She is just such a little bean and I’d love to explore more about her.
Obviously I have a lot more ocs, but these are just my main ones! I love them to bits and I would love to talk about them more haha. Soooo, if you have any questions or would simply love to hear more, yeet a question at me! I’d love to answer <3

05/19/2024 – 05/25/2024
Sunday
Week 15 of missing Cipher Academy
Had to head out on a day trip, but before I did I quickly read the new Undead Unluck chapter. This was mainly a set-up chapter, disseminating the information we’ve learned from the Language fight and preparing for the next arc, but wow I never expected that we’d see Fuuko’s parents… I have a feeling that the next arc is going to be pretty emotional…
Monday
Oshi no Ko 149: I think Kana and Akane should just get together instead. Seeing Akane pull her Machiavellian schemes is funny, though.
Dandadan 152 and 153: Dammit the mangaka has got me again with the tragic backstory. I think they’ve really perfected their craft in this regard – they don’t get too long-winded about it, instead focusing on presenting specific images and moments that tell a much bigger story. Seeing the myriad of stickers in the apartment on the doors and counters at kid-height was so…the place just felt really lived in and realistic, making the tragedy hit even more as Zuma’s mom begs to stay. Zuma covering his little brother’s ears was also a nice touch, and we understand right away what their brotherly relationship must’ve been like. But then the silence as his little brother loses his umbrella…and we just see Zuma’s desperation and the aftermath… His mom’s cold grip around his wrist and then those last few panels are just so so horrible, especially the one where you can see Zuma trying his best to hold his mom back… I also appreciated this thematic thread of “people placing the blame on individuals rather than the lack of support infrastructure and the ways modern society crushes the less fortunate under its heel”, it makes sense why Zuma would feel angry towards the entire world and how it’s failed his family.
Magilumiere fine. Feels like textbook final fight stuff.
Chainsaw Man fine. The narrative just feels so…aimless and vague.
Rewatched some Succession episodes just to feel something. Season 3 episode 5 will always be a favourite for the absolute chaos it brings, but this time I really enjoyed Tom likening him and Shiv to sorority sisters whose cycles have synced up…he’s so girlcoded it’s insane. And then I watched season 4 episode 7 for the satisfaction of watching Tom and Shiv’s marriage blow up – I have their argument almost memorized by now.
Tuesday
Against my better judgement, I stayed up and read The Unusual Suspects by Michael Buckley in pretty much one sitting, and was fairly underwhelmed. As with the first book in this Sisters Grimm series, I love the premise and setting of this story, but the actual writing leaves a lot to be desired. Finding out that Buckley’s writing career started in TV makes so much sense, because his book writing is so bland and uninspired. The characters are fun and have decently enjoyable dialogue, but the descriptions lack any real finesse or artistry. Things just happen one after another like a TV writer marking out a beatsheet, and the comedic bits are the kind of wacky hijinks you’d find in the platonic ideal of a 2000’s Saturday morning cartoon. At least Sabrina had a semblance of an interesting arc, I guess…? In that she has to grapple with racism LMAO? And I guess Prince Charming’s gesture and her realization that her anger/racism was literally powering up the bad guy was a decent resolution, but I do hope the narrative stresses the importance of seeing “the other” as people in future instalments (and maybe throw in a human culprit for one of the mysteries). Also, I remembered the Puck/Sabrina romance as being more of a slowburn, but here they basically fall in love with each other on the flimsiest of basis and are doing the whole bickering/flirting thing right away…I think kid me was really excited at each crumb of ship content, but adult me wishes their romance had a subtler hand.

Read a lot today, mostly just bits and pieces of various books in my search of a good one, but the only one I started in earnest was Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman. The hook was immediately gripping – a horror story set during the Black Plague – and I’m happy to find that the writing is evocative enough to match. The prose sets me in the time period and atmosphere immediately, and there are so many striking visuals that have stuck in my mind thus far. Unfortunately, in an inverse of Buckley, the dialogue writing is so bad it nears comical at points. Some of the passages literally read like bad sitcom banter, and it completely takes me out of the moment with its anachronistic tone. The only saving grace is that the conversations are usually short, I suppose.
Friday
DunMesh with leftover stir-fried lamb from a restaurant I went to on Wednesday. Episode good! Food good! Fun to see the Canaries make their anime debut at last.
I got fully invested and finished Part I of Between Two Fires. The dialogue still grates on me at times, but the wonderful prose keeps me going, as does the dreaminess of the plot – it really feels like an early canon work in how it moves between different locations and their self-contained stories, and while I saw some people say that they didn’t like the episodic nature, I think it really fits the tone. I was pleasantly surprised to see the priest join the party, I was really expecting the story to just revolve around Thomas and the girl, but the priest’s presence is welcome for how it adds another dimension to the group dynamic beyond the girl annoying Thomas with her innocent and inscrutable actions. I also didn’t expect so much gayness? I can’t tell if it’s just being used as a way to cast the priest as a sinful man (like with his drinking), but I’m going to enjoy the fujo crumbs regardless. Thomas’ fight against the river creature and the men’s stint in the illusory castle felt truly hellish, and you really get the sense that their world is pulling apart at the seams.
Saturday
I started reading She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan today because I like to have a few books going at once, and I’m becoming cautiously optimistic that some actually good adult fiction books exist in the world. After some deliberation, I think I’ve come to the realization that what I really want in a book is for things to happen. As in, I’m sick and fucking tired of the 340523rd treatise on the fucking “human condition” – I’ve been through enough human condition and I don’t need to read 400 pages of melodramatic waffling as characters talk and talk and talk but actually do very little of consequence. But if I want to find a book where an actual journey occurs, my best chances are in the fantasy or sci-fi genres…which I also kind of hate reading lol. I hate being bombarded with impenetrable names and countries and factions before I even get the chance to care about them, so I usually avoid high fantasy/high sci-fi like the plague. But She Who Became the Sun is set in historical China, which I’m already familiar with and interested in, and the fantasy elements have been fairly light so far, so I’ve been greatly enjoying it. I especially like Parker-Chan’s prose, and how they build Zhu’s inner turmoil in Part One and her struggle between identity vs body and the central thesis of greatness vs nothingness. But once again, I’m floored by just how good the writing is when compared to some of the other books I’ve tried reading this week. I used to think that maybe adult fiction as a whole just wasn’t for me, but now I’m regaining hope that there are good books out there, I just have to find them…it’s a process, to be sure, when literally no other critics or BookTubers I can find share my tastes, but I’ll keep trying…

Jewel and Kakos
OCxOC ship and both characters are mine. Their story is set in heavy themes of unbalanced power dynamics, PTSD, suicide ideation and attempts, domestic abuse/trauma, toxic love, murder attempts, and learning how to break free from that cycle. She dumped him in a fight where she severed his arm off.
I could go for hours about them because they're rooted deep in one another and brought out the best and worst of each other, and those experiences eventually lead to the both of them getting help for their mental states.
I don't forgive you but I'm grateful you were there when you were.
Jewel and Tetsuji
OCxOC ship and both characters are mine. Tetsuji was a fresh transfer from another division and he fell for Jewel right away, but she was still raw from her traumas from Kakos so she wasn't having it at first. Theirs was a slower build. They became friends first and through spending more time together and sharing things in common, Jewel softened around him enough to try a date, two, three...
They got together but they didn't last. Jewel's power had increased to levels to where she was uncomfortable to touch for long or to have sex with (they're both sexual creatures so it was frustrating). Worst of all, she was repeating some of her abusive trauma related behaviors on Tetsuji and he wasn't having that.
He dumped her in an argument. Jewel needed time to look at her actions and realize what she had done wrong, but when she tried to ask for forgiveness he wouldn't hear it.
She knew she had lost something good. He was a genuinely good person. It was a reflective time for her. They eventually reconciled as friends. Then best friends. :')
Jewel and Grimmjow
CanonxOC ship and B O Y. I'd kill to have a partner to write this ship with. I have infinite muse for them. So many different ideas for a myriad of verses and AUs. Different dynamics. Plots. Art. Headcanons. My arsenal's overflowing with Them.
I understand my open adoration of them may push some people away lmao but I just can't! Contain it! It's in my rules that none of my ideas are meant to force anything on anyone that writes him so I'm content to yell about them. I'd rather blab about them until my heart's content than hold it all in, otherwise here I'd be seven years later with no wall of blurbs on this blog or a ship pardner. At least I have one rn!
I will say that I'm looking for key things with someone who portrays Grimm. Unafraid to be violent. Doesn't lean on 'cat traits' I see a lot in fanon (you do you if that fits your interpretation ofc!). Likes ladies lmaoo. And slow burn! They would take a fair bit of development to get to that shippy point (at least I feel that way. She's vibed with some Grimms in the past where they got on p quickly! So I don't rule that out.) Need a communicative partner (that doesn't mind plotting when needed.)
I've yelled about them 23432t57823431 times but basically I'm super into them bonding as kindred souls that understand each other on an instinctual level, where they can 100% be themselves and not have to hold anything back. They're ride or dies while also not tying the other down. They're drawn to one another because the other's soul feels like home, maybe something else who knows. No one's eager to talk about it. Also I feel like even though they're both chaotic they bring out healthy traits in one another, even some subtle ones and that's juicy to me.

Jewel and Bazz-B
CanonxOC ship, with your Bazz ;D This one was all your fault, Mila!! Ofc after you brought it up to me it didn't take me long to see it. Fire and ice ship got me fucked up so they got their own verse. Here we are. Made me break my own shipping rules LOL. Glad I did because I adore them.
Jewel finds him annoying but also endearing in some ways. He's a lil shit but not so bad that she'd toss him into a frozen lake probably. Given her past experiences (OC ships) she's unsure, but Bazz doesn't seem bad, minus them quarreling during the war ahem- but that was a different time.
He's able to handle her coldness and zanpakuto, which is a huge thing to her. Skilled fighter. Difficult to defeat. A bit of a tease. Has nice hair? hello?? Gives her space but also enjoys her company. He has her interest.
They're a ship that's a wip, but as of now they seem to have no problem hitting on each other. Jewel especially acts brazen at times. sorry if she comes off Strong at times tybw jewel loses fucks to give and it stays that way onward hwfweioifw
There's a hesitation in Jewel here though. She wonders how he would perceive her in her most feral state, the worst rotting frostbite on her, just all the 'ugliness' of her out in the open. She has a better hold on her reiatsu and blade, but that old battle worn state of being can still resurface and make her look like a walking corpse skeleton.

102 on AO3. I crosspost between Tumblr and there so I'm pretty sure that's all of the fics I've written this year (which is actually my first year publishing fanfics!!!) Oh, wait, make that 103 because of the Sterek Secret Santa fic that hasn't been revealed yet!

Definitely more. Way, way more. Like, I just wanted to write because Ideas, you know, that kept knocking at my brain to be let out. And I did let them out and now here we are. Wow. I'm feeling incredible right now 😂

Most Popular Story Of The Year?
By both Hits & Kudos: Hidden Treasure (MCU)—it is so bad though ohmigod and it has 10k hits. What the ever loving fuck. But also, I get the appeal 😂 any and all "Peter Parker gets embarrassed by his adoptive family aka The Avengers and his classmates find out he is Spider-Man/find out how he is a well-loved BAMF" are top-tier, tbh.
What’s Your Own Favorite Story Of The Year?
Hmm, let me think. Orbit (yours is the only one i'd follow) is probably my favorite. It's just me sort of being introspective on the various romantic relationships, with Stiles' POV. I especially love my Petopher one:
Peter and Chris are like gunpowder and a match, waiting to touch and to spark; Stiles doesn’t know who is who, all he knows is that they are two people who are meant to be in the same circles. On the exact opposite sides, maybe, but always with a path laid out for them to trace back to the other one.
Like a never-ending path of love. More than love; family, hate, trust, respect.
Peter and Chris have covered everything, and now they’re on the same side, in each other’s reach but still their own person as they move forward.
Do You Have Any Fanfic Or Profic Goals For The New Year?
Keep writing? Yeah, that's one. Get the @sterek-roundrobinchallenge to be a successful Sterek event, that's another. And I'm planning on trying to do the 24 Fics in 24 Hours thing [edit: I linked their masterpost] that @bleep0bleep did... it looks pretty interesting. But I'll limit myself to just writing Sterek. (Can you tell they're my OTP by now? Lol). But I'll do that in like... May 2022. Maybe. Who knows? Not me. But it's nice to dream.
Did You Take Any Writing Risks This Year?
Yup, sure did. I joined the @stereksecretsanta challenge, which was fun, but risky given that this is my first year writing and the deadline... oooof. Glad to have been done on time, tho. I'm just hoping now that my Giftee likes their gift <3
Oh, also, I wrote Thiam-centric fics. One or two, I think. I don't think I have a clear grasp on them yet, or it's like, I am not used to writing them. So writing them anyways was a risk.
Story Of Mine Most Under-Appreciated By The Universe, In My Opinion:
Lmao, Idk? No wait I lied. I'm definitely of the opinion that my fic We Honor The Dead by Fighting For The Living is severely underrated. I had a lot of fun coming up with the Legend! I actually really love this fic. I just wish more people would too :(

Uhhh, maybe all? Like in the way that I'm still forming my opinions on things that are not fanfic/fandom stuff, so I don't actually have many personal character headcanons—like, I don't have a favorite genre/artist of songs, neither do any of my characters etc. Stuff like that.
Biggest Disappointment:
The Song Challenge that nobody did except me and @deepestbelieverstranger 🙃 sooo I might've deleted the blog.
Biggest Surprise:
Meeting so many cool people on here and not being so socially inept that I ignored them in my anxiety 😂 but uhh in fic things, probably being able to hate a character—S*ott McCall—so, so much. Because while watching the show in 2020 I hadn't like... picked up on all the shitty things he did? I just didn't like him I knew that, because he literally told Derek in S1 that his family deserved to die, and the S2 Finale Bite Rape obviously. But that was disliking S*ott. Now I actively hate him. The canon version, anyways.
My Favorite Part Of Fandom This Year:
Meeting all the amazing people and being able to just share my love for these characters from a decade old growly-dramatic-over-the-top show ♡ Sure, there're always a group in all fandoms that's just here to rile others up and be Trolls, but I think the Teen Wolf fandom that I've talked to/interacted with are good. Most of them. And it's really nice because I've heard a lot of horror stories, too.

“Sylki isn’t even a m/f pairing cause they’re both genderfluid!”
↘️ I really really wanted Loki to be canon genderfluid, but the problem with that is that in Ep 5, they do everything in their power to make both Loki and Sylvie seem Very Very cis. All the Loki’s straight up say they’ve never seen a female version of themselves, and Sylvie says that she was born a woman (and never shows any sign of presenting as anything else). Even if Ep 5 hadn’t happened, though, the only mention of anything gender-related is a little Easter egg in Loki’s file that says “Sex: Fluid”. Easily missed by a casual viewer, so not much confirmation at all.

↘️ Putting aside the fact that I’m actually bi myself… In real life, it’s totally valid for a bisexual person to only date the opposite sex, but on screen “Show, don’t tell.” is the golden rule. There are plenty of problems with Sylki other than the fact that it’s a m/f ship. However, it’s extremely frustrating for queer people to see the writers patting themselves on the back for giving us one (1) throwaway line that can be easily edited out for homophobic audiences, and then to see absolutely no further acknowledgment of Loki’s supposed attraction to men, along with him being shown openly flirting with 2 different women. It just seems awfully convenient to be able to tell and not show where m/m is concerned and then to show m/f where it isn’t even necessary.
“You just hate that a woman got in the way of your two white dudes kissing!”
↘️ If Sylvie was the main character and she had pretty good chemistry with a woman, and then all of a sudden a male variant of her was introduced and a romance was forced between them, I’d be pretty pissed about that too. I don’t want Sylvie out of the picture! My ideal scenario would be her and Loki being Chaos Twins. And I don’t even want Lokius to be canon! Again, my ideal scenario would be Chaos Twins with their best friend/handler Mobi. This isn’t about her getting in the way of another pairing, it’s about how this pairing in particular is just Not It.

↘️ No I… really don’t? I’m gonna get mauled for saying this, but I don’t even find Loki particularly attractive. Tom? Sure. But Loki? Mmmm… not exactly. Aesthetically pleasing maybe. Intellectually I know that he’s pretty hot, but he doesn’t do anything for me :/ I also really really hate reader inserts sooo yeah lol. And if you’ve seen my blog you’d know I ship him with a lot of people, both male and female.

↘️ Except the writers have gone out of their way to make it clear that they are the same person. Not exactly the same, but they’re similar enough that it’s clear that they’re versions of each other. Plus they canonically have the same parents, very very similar DNA, and essentially the same basic origin (adopted, Asgard, etc). They’re not exact clones of one another but they very much are slightly different models of the same person.

↘️ No, it’s even worse lmao. Imagine two people that share parents, DNA, and some life experiences, but they’re even closer than twins…. Lol yeah.

↘️ No it’s not… One of my favourite things about Loki in all 6 movies is that he never had a love interest. Never even a hint of a love interest. And even in this show he makes it clear that he’s never really been in love before- never had anything “real”. And, this considered, people saying that it makes sense that his first and only canon love interest would be a version of himself implies that he’s incredibly narcissistic. Which, despite what some shitty writers try to tell us, he’s not. His narcissism is performative. It’s posturing. He’s incredibly insecure and self-loathing and that ends up manifesting as violence in some instances, and that’s his whole problem. The exact opposite of narcissism. Quite honestly, Loki would never trust or even like himself enough to be romantically interested.
“You just want Loki whump, you hate to see him happy!”
↘️ I do enjoy Loki whump on occasion, but at this point we maxed out on the whump meter about 3 movies back… I absolutely want this poor man to be happy, for once in his damn life. And the show gives us everything but that. Just like people said Ragnarok gave us a happy Loki, when in reality all we got was a humiliated Loki that was beaten down even further to build other characters up and give the audience a laughs… which is pretty much exactly what’s happening here. Not all the time! There’s some super progressive moments for his character development and mental health, but overall? The show isn’t giving us a happy Loki at all, and Sylki definitely hasn’t resulted in a happier Loki so far.
“They have great chemistry though!”
↘️ I’m sure any two characters could have good chemistry if the writing team put 85% percent of their effort for the whole show into squishing a man and woman together and making them kiss, even going so far as to build the plot around it, when they could’ve spent their time and energy improving other aspects of the series.
“Ok you have to admit the blanket scene was pretty cute!”
↘️ Yes, I will admit that! It was adorable actually! But given the myriad of issues I listed above, one cute scene isn’t enough to make me hate the ship any less.
