Ellie is 14 years old. And while she's, in some ways, mature for her age, she should not be asked to sacrifice herself for the whole world. "She should have been given a choice and we all know she would have been fine with dying if that meant there is a cure." Absolutely not. You do not ask a 14 year old to make a choice like that. Hell, I'd argue that it's not even a choice. The fact that it's adults that would tell her that makes it even more messed up. These cool adults who are out there trying to save people tells you that you are special, that you're the key to save humanity. Of course you're going to listen to them. Especially if you've gone through the things Ellie's been through. If she as an adult wants to make that decision, sure. But not when she's a scared, vulnerable child.
Should Joel have told her that he killed all of them to save her? Probably. Then he could have explained that she's valuable, not because she's possibly the key to a cure. But because she's a human being that has feelings, that deserves to live. And you could argue as much as you want that she's old enough or mature enough to make that choice. But I don't agree. Yes, she seems to be like that, we see her being snarky and tough but the more Joel shows that he cares about her, the more she lets that mask slip. And she acts like a child would act with their parents.
If her only goal was to reach the fireflies so that she could give herself to them to do whatever with her so that they could find a cure. She wouldn't have been so angry/upset that Joel didn't want to take her, why would it matter who took her there? Because Joel cares about her, and having him let her go hurt her. She could have left Joel to die and gone to find Tommy so that he could take her, like Joel asked her to do. But she didn't because she cares about him. The way she clings to Joel when he finds her and he calls her baby girl should tell you that she isn't ready to make a decision on whether she should sacrifice herself or not. SHE IS A CHILD. And Joel allows her to be a child.
I honestly have no problem with him killing them all to save her. "He took the choice from her!" What choice? They didn't give her a choice, they didn't tell her what would happen to her. And do you really think that they would ever give her a choice. If she'd said no, do you actually believe that they would go "Ah, well. Nothing we can do then, off you go with your new dad. Bye!" Don't make me laugh. They would have just done what they did now. Sedate her and begun to harvest her for what they needed. That's not a choice. She NEVER had a choice, Joel didn't take the choice from her because it was never there. It would have been an illusion of choice. She's also traumatised, most recently from her run in with David. And you want her to make a literal life or death choice?? I completely understand why Joel decided to go on a killing spree, he's protecting a vulnerable traumatised CHILD from people who doesn't care about her, who just wants to use her body for spare parts.
It's not about choice or not having a choice, it's about being valued as a person and not having your life taken away from you by vultures.

No matter how many times I watch it I still can’t get over how Joel only looks at Ellie when they’re feeding the giraffe in the show 😭😭 his face is just so warm and affectionate and it’s so clear that he’s zeroed in on her emotions and mental state and so so worried for her but that brief beat where she just giggles like an excited kid is like a salve on his heart and for those few breaths he feels RELIEF. Pedro acted this scene so incredibly he does sooo much with just his eyes IM SO FERAL FOR THM

Our Royal
Your tiny feet patted beside Lucifer as his hand held your smaller one safely within his own. He gazed down at you fondly as a worried expression laid against your features as you approached a large castle. How was it so big? The gate alone towered over you causing you to hide yourself behind Lucifer's leg, clinging to the fabric hoping he'd change his mind.
"My sweet," Lucifer began, voice gentle as he crouched down to you. "Nothing will happen to my sweet baby, hm? You trust me don't you Mc?" His voice soon turned into a coo as you hiccuped back some tears with a nod. " I promise you, Lord Diavolo and Barbatos will keep you safe and happy." The large front doors opened revealing the two Lucifer had spoken about .You recognised them from when you were big, but you were only small now and only the brothers had cared for you. This was entirely new territory.
"Oh ho - what's with the tears Mc?" His big smile seemed to soothe you a little as he walked over closely followed by Barbatos. Lucifer gently wiped your cheeks from your tears before Diavolo joined him.
"They're feeling a little anxious being away from us." He sighed lightly in adoration and worry as your tiny fists grabbed at his leg again.
"Ah I see." Diavolo smiled before Barbatos came over, bowing lightly at you causing your sobs to turn into little whimpers.
"My lord, the gift you prepared for Mc." He couldn't help but grin as a giraffe shaped bear was placed into your hands causing your sniffles to stop entirely.
"F-for me?" Lucifer's hand gently patted your head in gentle motions before you finally stood before the Lord of the Devildom. "Than' you." A little tap on your shoulder reminded you on how to refer to him. "L-lord Dia." Diavolo couldn't help but laugh happily at the nickname you used - his name is much too big for your tiny self. His bigger hand extended itself to you,
"Shall we go then little royal?" Barbatos soon joined the conversation,
"I assure you that all royals like yourself will experience the utmost care." As soon as your hand gripped onto Diavolos, Lucifer stood and smiled whilst bidding his goodbyes. He would be back by morning of course! It was just that all of the brothers had important matters to attend to and Lord Diavolo and Barbatos really wanted to spend time with your tiny self.
Walking into the big building shook you a little, but it got you just as excited.
"Royal Mc," Barbatos began with a sweet smile, "I've arranged plans fit for royalty as yourselves. It does begin with a tea party. Is that to your Satisfaction, young royal?" Your giggles and nods led to Diavolo joining in with your laughter whilst walking you into their grand garden. A beautiful large table had been assorted with all sorts of treats, a teapot within the center. Clutching the giraffe to your chest your eyes lit up at the variety of treats there were to choose from but your small mind instantly wished to play pretend.
"Lord Dia an' Barbato! Sit Sit." You patted two seats with a big smile which caused them both to melt.
"Ah, I'm here to serve you!" He chuckled as he lifted you up to gently seat you beside Diavolo. "Now, what would you both wish to try first?" Your eyes scanned the endless selections of treats before finally falling upon a hellfire baked cheese cake. With a gentle 'please' ,a slice was soon before you. After trying a little, you smiled again. Getting your small spoon, you began to feed Diavolo before patting the other seat for Barbatos to sit which luckily he gradfully did so. A spoon of cheesecake was Soon at his lips.
"Ah. But wouldn't you rather me feed y-" It was too late. The delicious cheesecake was in his mouth much to your glee.
"Barbatos, allow yourself to be pampered by Mc, it seems they're really intent on doing so." He couldn't help but smile at you and agree with his Lord, allowing you to feed them whichever treats you found worthy for them. Much to his delight though, every dish was perfect. Barbatos soon handled the tea and poured some cold tea within your sippy cup Lucifer had provided Prior. It tasted much like the Strawberry candy of your world which made you happily sip away as the table was cleared from any empty plates.
"Dia!" You smiled happily, grabbing onto his big hand and pointing to the various flowers that scattered the garden. "Wanna play!" He nodded as he stood,
"What a perfect Plan Mc! Let's go!" Upon arrival, you plopped yourself onto the grass and began to pick at the flowers and messily twist them together. "What're you making there my sweet little royal?"
"Surprise!" You repeated before Barbatos joined in, sitting with you both happily. Though he was rather Surprised once you placed something on his head. "A flower crown! Now Barbato royal too!" He couldn't suppress the red on his cheeks even if he tried. You really made something so precious for him? How did you manage to melt his serious heart within mere moments? Another flower crown was soon plonked upon Diavolos' head too much to his joy.
"Now we all Royal!" The two shared a joyous look before they began to intertwine flowers carefully together to make your own Crown.
"Here my sweet young royal," Divolo began as he placed it upon your head.
"You must wear your crown too, yes?" You all shared laughs and played many more eventful games. Diavolo had developed a new habit of scooping you up into his arms whenever he could! He just adored having you So close and safe with him. Barbatos however had resorted to placing an occasional kiss against your chubby cheeks whenever he could. Your Smile was too adorable for him not to resist!
The sky soon fell dark though causing them both to whisk you back inside ready to sleep. You were adamant that they too wore onesies though… They complied with this pretty quickly. Anything for their little royal, right? You all decided on a late night movie, something you and Diavolo had to beg Barbatos for. However, this led to Snacks on the floor with your polar bear onesie self Passed out On Diavolos chest, a protective hand upon your back as he too slept. A passed out Barbatos with various coloured pen ink over his face rested nearby you both… Little did you know, Lucifer had entered the room to come and pick you up early due to the rest of The house of Lamentation being distraught without you now they were all home. Lucifer had agreed to come and collect you, only because he was desperate to hold You and have you home too. Taking in the scene before him he couldn't help but chuckle and grab a quick photo on his D.D.D.
"Baba?" You mumbled out to Lucifer, sleepy eyes making him melt. Sitting down beside you and an unconscious Diavolo he smiled,
"I'm here my sweet. Did You have fun love?" Nodding, your tiny fist plonked a flower crown upon his head. You had all made him one too and you had refused to let go of it until it was on Lucifer's head.
"Uh huh. You royal too kay?" His smile told you how much he loved it before his thumb rubbed against your cheek soothingly.
"Thank you my sweet... Lets rest now hm?" He was sure his brothers could wait the night... He'd stay here with you all for now. How could he take such a precious and chaotic sight away? "Goodnight, our sweet Royal."

First time parents
a/n: I don't see them having children but this was requested! Not sure how many of these ones I'll make.
Usually in the early hours, Evan and y/n lie with one another, cuddling close with soft lingering kisses and tender loving whisperers of confession’s and desires that they’ll carry with them for the rest of the day.
Soft fingertips against bare spots of skin with hums and yawns fill the air between them, with the occasional giggle of two.
It’s different now, the couple no longer wakes up to the peace and quiet, there’s no longer trailing kisses and there’s rarely any fumbling around in the sheets.
There’s a new peace. A peace where giddy but sleepy parents wake up to the sound of tiny baby noises. If they’re lucky they don’t wake up to the sound of crying, but that depends on the day.
Y/n gets up first- her motherly instincts snapping her out of dream land. She doesn’t hear any cries from the crib across the room, it’s too early for the baby to sleep in her own room just yet so the couple finds it easier to have the baby sleep in their room for late night feeds and diaper changes.
“My sunbeam” Y/n coos, peering over the crib to see the bundle of joy in question.
She scoops her into her arms and kisses the Wren’s forehead. Coddling her in her arms, y/n is pleasantly surprised that she seems happy and not in any form of distress, so she decides to do a quick diaper change before heading back into bed with Wren still in her arms.
Y/n places Wren in between her and Evan, sighing quietly once her head hits the pillow, her index finger clinging to Wren’s palm as she makes her sweet little baby yawn.
Y/n’s eyes flutter towards her sleeping lover and she can’t help but smile in content and adoration as she watches the rise and fall of his chest, soft snores coming out of his lips causing her to giggle softly before she peers down at her baby girl and kisses her small button nose.
The light is peering through the windows now and the birds are chirping in the warm summer breeze causing Evan to stir from his slumber.
A little hand whacks his cheek forcing his eyes to snap open to find his beautiful baby girl waving her arms in excitement next to him, her mommy holding out a toy above her.
“Yes Wren, it’s a giraffe! Can you say it? g-i-r-a-f-f-e” y/n spells out and says it slowly.
“You don’t think it’s kind of early for her to start speaking?” Evan chuckles, his voice is raspy from a good nights sleep.
Y/n bites her lip in embarrassment, not knowing she had woken him up. His eyes beam at the sight of her flushed cheeks before he peers down at Wren and scoops her onto his chest as he sits up.
Wren makes gargling noise which causes the two into a set of giggles and swoons. Y/n leans over and places her lips against the exposed skin of Evan’s shoulder making him shudder at the contact of her perfect lips.
“It’s never too early” y/n mumbles.
“We already know she’s going to say ‘dada’ first” he muses.
Y/n glares at him, playfully scolding him with a shake of her head, his laugh rings through the room and Wren fusses signaling them that it’s time to feed her.
“I’m the one who actually gave birth, so mommy should be the first word!” y/n says holding her arms out for Drew to hand the baby over.
“But I’m the one who actually-”
“Don’t even say what I think you’re gonna say, Ev she’s right here!” y/n cuts him off before he can finish.
She lifts up her shirt so she can start to breastfeed Wren as Evan playfully rolled his eyes, laying his head against the headboard to cross his arms over his chest as he watches.
“She can’t actually understand y/n.”
“Zip it,” she smiles at him before looking down and adjusting her hold on the baby. “Oh! She’s a hungry girl this morning!” y/n says with wide eyes.
Evan smiles brightly and sits up to inspect the tight grip that Wren has causing both of them to get all giddy and rave about how strong she is, and what a good girl she’s being.
“Such a good girl for mommy.” Evan coos before looking up to see y/n’s glossy eyes.
“Our perfect girl.”
“A literal sunbeam,” Evan nods. “I love you so much.” he suddenly says, bending over to kiss y/n’s lips softly.
“So, so much” y/n hums.

Ghost at the zoo
(years ago when I went to Disneyland on my birthday and did a post about the ghouls at Disneyland well I'm doing it again because I went to the zoo this year and I was Inspired)
(based on the San Deigo Zoo)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aether-
accidentally breaks the glass for one of the venomous snake enclosures, panics, and tries to fix it with chewing gum and band-aids before booking it to the other side of the zoo (luckily the snake is asleep and the keepers see it before it escapes)
Dew teases him by the monkeys calling him banana boy, he then subsequently punches Dew in the stomach.
Makes bad dad jokes all day especially fond of "that's a weird looking _" when a keeper is in an exhibit, and telling the baboons to stop monkeying around.
Dew -
Gets attacked by a flock of birds in the aviary. it really ruffles his feathers (I am not good at joke)
Despite repeated warnings, he sticks his fingers into an exhibit and gets bitten by a small monkey.
flirts with one of the keepers in the reptile section and gets to feed a dead rat to a snake. (and a kiss......from the keeper, not the snake!)
Rain-
Takes a dip in the polar bear enclosure by some miracle he doesn't get caught or eaten.
Ather finds him later in a heated argument with a turtle. Ather then realizes Rain can talk to fish and other aquatic creatures (which explains the hours he spends in front of this fish tank at home).
consumes an ungodly amount of lemonade
Mountain-
gets swarmed by birds at the aviary and ends up like those old ladies in Central park covered in birds except he's not feeding them they're just chilling
plays tag with the other ghouls in the kid's area (and like 20 kids it gets wild) until he almost knocks out a toddler. (he's super apologetic and the parents are understanding) Later he reaches down into one of the exhibits with his long ass arms and grabs a kid's stuffed tiger returning it safely (and all was right in the world)
Accidentally spends the night in the zoo after falling asleep in the bushes. Has to hop some fences and climb a few trees to get out.
Swiss-
A terror at the zoo. The zoo has a record number of incident reports involving a strange smiling masked man?.. entity?
A thief steals a bunch of souvenir magnets, gets a sloth backpack and fills it with snacks he stole from unattended strollers in the park, and steals a certain staff member's keys at least 3 times for shits and giggles. (it only occurs to him on the way home the things he could have done with those keys)
(TW: vomit ) Gets a tummy ache from eating too much cotton candy and vomits In an empty stroller.......well, he's 90% sure it was empty.
Cirrus-
Has a cute little butterfly land on her, eats it
Buys a red panda hat at the store, and refuses to take it off for a week
Waits in line for almost 2 hours to feed the giraffe. She gets so excited she nearly drops the lettuce. Cumulus takes a million pictures for her
Cumulus-
Spends most of the day trying to figure out the zoo map with imperator
Attempts to get group photos with all of the cool statues to various amounts of success
Shares some cotton candy with an orangutan. Gets caught by a keeper but she weasels her way out of it (scares the living shit out of the poor employee)
Sunshine-
LOTS of excited squealing and hops of joy! (and potentially autism) It's her first time ever going to the zoo, and she enjoys every second.
Especially into the skyfari. (although Aether did have to hold her hand the first time)
Takes pictures of all the animals with funny snap chat filters the ghouletts huddle at the back of the bus and giggle looking through them on the ride home
Nihil-
A MENACE! scaring poor old ladies in the bathroom, using his noncorporal form to walk into exhibits, giggling about seeing the animal's naughty bits, and accosting random teens asking if they heard his song on the TikTok.
Imperator-
Spends most of the day hopelessly lost with cumulus and getting the ghouls out of trouble.
Let's go of Nihil's wheelchair while going downhill after he makes a fourth joke about the lion's penis.
manages to enjoy as few quiet moments in the aviary watching the birds before being disturbed by Dew's screeching.
Primo , Secondo, Terzo-
Supposed to be dead so they all don awful disguises and pretend to be a group of grannies. (Terzo's idea of course)
spend most of the day bickering with each other like children.

Follows Imperator and Nihil around the zoo like an obedient puppy.
Actually really excited to be there but keeps up the mask to maintain appearances and appease Imperator.
Does get a picture with the capybara

Joel and Ellie moments that wrecked me like a firefly hospital: finale edition
the recap intro just made it so clear that the whole story is them - it’s their evolution from strangers to “you’re cargo” to “it’s okay baby girl i got you”
Ellie is clearly still going through it and Joel knows (”you’re extra quiet today” when Ellie has never been quiet before) and he’s trying so hard to get her to smile!! The Chef Boyardee, the Boggle, asking her for silly puns - they’ve had enough time together to have real memories and moments to call back to with each other and he’s using all of it to bring the Ellie he knows back
how Joel asks her to hold the gun for him and trusts her to carry it! they’ve grown so much since we first met them, he knows she has his back and she can handle it and she always does
he’s just being so gentle and fatherly with her - he’s given protective dad energy for a while now but we finally get to see him being nurturing and encouraging and it’s so sweet because she needs it now more than ever
he wants to teach her guitar because he thinks she’d be good at it i -
Ellie utterly dropping the ladder and ignoring what Joel asked her to do in such a classic father/daughter moment but Joel letting her get away with doing that and running off because he’s just happy to see her excited about something again
THE GIRAFFE SCENE!!! how she’s so excited to show him this beautiful view she spotted and this fascinating creature and she wants to share it with him?? everything about this scene is magical but can we talk about the way Joel looks at Ellie with just all of the love in the world? just gazing at her smiling, watching his daughter feed the giraffe and giggle and in that moment he knows he’d do anything for this girl
which is precisely what prompts him to suggest they just “go home.” back to Tommy’s place in Wyoming. he’s seeing all the beauty there, how new things have grown in the place of such devastation and his life is blossoming again, too. growing new connections and new hope. this family of giraffes is playing together on the horizon. why not just save the beautiful things? why not just let themselves enjoy it? he’s already seen her sacrifice so much - why not just let his little girl rest? doesn’t she deserve that? doesn’t he deserve that?

there’s so much said without them saying it: i’m not leaving you, i can’t leave you, i just want to keep you safe, i just want to make things better for you, i know you’ve lost people before but you won’t lose me
he’s talking about Sarah with her - all the things that were off limits before they can talk about now, they’re far from strangers and they just want to share these moments with the person they trust and love most in the world,,, if we want the reward of being loved with must subject ourselves to the terrifying ordeal of being known,,,
“it was me. i’m the guy that missed.” and how he says it not because he has to, but because he wants to tell her, he wants her to know, he wants to give her this thing he lived through so she can have a roadmap to surviving what she’s in the middle of
how Ellie immediately sits down because she knows this is a Serious Talk Moment and she’s ready to listen
“i know why you’re telling me this.” “yeah i reckon you do.” they are so similar it hurts
“it wasn’t time that did it.”
because it’s everything that isn’t said in this scene, maybe because they don’t know how to say it but both of them know it doesn’t need saying, not between them. how he looks at her - he’s telling her, it was you. how she understands - oh. wow. i didn’t realize. and maybe - you saved me, too. you saved me in ways i didn’t realize i needed saving.
then how Joel gets choked up because he can see it in her eyes - he can see she knows what he means and maybe even that she feels the same way and that’s the moment that brings him to tears. he’s put his whole heart out there and she just accepts it. without words.
when Joel immediately tries to lighten the mood because he’s a Dad and he’s grown emotionally but y’know, he’s still Joel - but they have a whole system now and he rates the puns omg
of course the first thing he’s worried about when he wakes up is Ellie and of course the only thing she’s worried about is Joel

Can you do a Trent/reader x sidemen?
You’re Zerkaa’s (Josh) sister and the family are friends with Trent’s family. After growing up together Trent finally asks you on a date.
he takes you to the zoo to feed the giraffes (your fave animal) and you bump into Josh and the rest of the sidemen, confusing them as to why you two are together at the zoo
If he was being honest with himself he should of asked you out when you both were 19, instead of this whole song and dance that you two did around each other. You got boyfriends to try and push your feelings towards Trent and he seemed to of done the same. Now that he finds out that are no longer with your ex, who everyone thought you’d marry he didn’t want a miss his chance. You tried to act casual as you agreed to go for a date, you both mentioning it as if it wasn’t a long time coming and everyone teasing about saving a date for your wedding in a year or so. Trent pulls up at your house with a bunch of flowers, he keeps the destination close to his chest. When you find out that you were going to the zoo, you couldn’t contain your excitement. The two of you walked close together, he tells you that you get to meet some of the giraffes. He loves seeing the big smile set on your face as you feed them, and talk to them like they were babies. It was when you pull him into a hug when JJ and Ethan turn the corner. ‘Is that YN?’ they ask before they both call out your name and running over to you and hugging you. They both looking between you when Josh and the others appear. ‘What are you two doing here?’ your brother asks. ‘Just wanted to cheer Yn up’ is what Trent came up with, you smile to try and come off as casual. Harry smirks and asks if this was a date with him pulling you away from the others to try and get some info out of you. The rest of the date was the two of you trying to avoid the over protective big brothers and enjoy yourselves.

You'd woken up and it had been all downhill from there. The searing pain down your spine that had been your near-constant companion for weeks had finally forced you into a wheelchair until you could be seen by a specialist.
You hated being out in your chair. People talked down to you or around you or over you or at you enough with your walker or cane. But when Diana suggested the zoo, hoping that going on a quiet day and getting you out for a while would make you feel better... you couldn't tell her no. No matter how much you wanted to curl up in bed and sleep until the day was over.
"It's so nice of you to spend the day with your little friend."
That had been the first thing someone said to her in the parking lot. And by the grace of which god, you would never know you managed to bite your tongue.
"Are you excited to see all the pretty animals?"
This time it wasn't a retiree but a pretty, bubbly little 20-something with perfect teeth and a polo shirt tucked into her khakis. For just a second, you want to believe she didn't say that to you in that tone. The one people reserved for animals and tiny children.
"Oh, can she not talk proper?" she asked the Amazon who had tightened her grip on your shoulder as if to keep you from jumping up out of the chair.
That was it. That was the one that pushed you past your limit. You had Two. TWO. PHDs and an honorary degree for your work in linguistics. You were fluent in four languages. For fucks sake, you were a grown person. And she couldn't even do you the courtesy of speaking to you directly.
"Yes, why?" you ask, forcing your voice into a socially acceptable cheerfulness, "Do you need someone to show you how?"
"I'm sorry," she stammered "I-"
"She's disabled, not stupid," Diana said, pushing you past the girl, "don't just make assumptions."
"Can we go home now?" you mutter when you're out of her ear shot.
Diana flinched, grateful that you couldn't see behind you as she said a prayer for patience, "Beloved-"
"I'm just so tired, I feel like I'm on display and if one more fucking person points at me I'm gonna throw myself in the tiger cage."
The Amazon came round and knelt next to the chair, offering you a tissue and tucking an errant lock of hair back in place tenderly, "You can't hide in the bedroom forever."
"Is that a challenge?" you huff wiping your nose.
"Y/N," she scolded, squeezing your free hand. "People staring at you are making themselves look foolish. All you're doing is living your life."
"That doesn't make it feel better."
She wiped tears off your cheeks gently and kissed your forehead, "Beloved, you're sick. Not less than. You're stronger, I think, than you like to give yourself credit for."
"I'm not-"
"You are," she insisted. "To wake up everyday, to fight the same battle again and again- to fight against your own body- that, my love, is courage." She fussed with your jacket for a moment and tugged it closer to your body. "When I was young and very foolish, I believed that one's body must be strong for them to be a hero- When I was older and foolish I understood that one's body being strong only made you a hero if you used it to protect others. It was not until I met you that I knew a different strength altogether."

"Will. And heart." she murmured, kissing you softly. "Let them stare. Let them be foolish. Come feed the Giraffes with me?"

“Matty,” says Adam’s voice, “come on, wake up.”
“Don’t wanna,” Matt mumbles, turning his face into the pillow. “Too early.”
“It’s ten!”
Matt rolls over, glaring at Adam, who looks annoyingly sunny. “On the East Coast,” Matt says.
“We’re on the East Coast,” Adam says. “Come on. It’s right down the road, and it opens soon.” He turns on this face Matt’s started to call STBE – sexually transmitted booboo eyes. Matt hates it. “Please, baby?”
Matt also hates that, when Adam calls him baby, he melts. “Give me ten minutes.”
Adam lights up, brighter than the sun streaming in through the hotel windows. “Okay, cool. I already bought the tickets.”
Matt laughs, pushing himself up in bed. “Course you did.” He gets an eyeful of Adam. He’s fully dressed, hair up in a little bun, boots on. “How long have you been awake?”
“About an hour,” he says, shrugging. “Shower’s nice.”
“If you’d waited for me, we could have made it nicer.” Matt throws the blanket off of himself, yawning as he stretches. “Now you don’t get to see me naked today.”
“There’s always tonight,” Adam says, with that little smile that always makes Matt get a little too hot. “Anyway, get ready. You showered last night, so you just have to get dressed.”
“Who are you, my dad?” Matt grumbles.
Adam laughs a little, ducking his head.
“Oh, shut up.”
Adam hovers as Matt throws his hair into a bun, dresses, and gets his stuff together.
“Look, I can’t put on my sneakers if you’re practically on top of me,” Matt eventually has to say when Adam’s half plastered to his side on the bed.
“Sorry,” Adam says. “I’m just so excited.” He leaps to his feet. “They have giraffes at this zoo!”
“You have animals,” Matt says, grabbing his wallet and making his way to the door. “You send me pictures of you kissing your animals all the time. What’s with the zoo?”
Adam sighs, like Matt’s just not getting something obvious. “Matty, we can feed giraffes at this zoo. And I might get to pet a sting ray.”
Matt stops. “There’s a sting ray tank?”
Adam nods. “Yeah, you can buy food to –”

I'm torn between wanting season 3 to pick up exactly where the finale left off, and wanting it to be like,,, three months later, and they're still stuck in the human realm. Camila introduces the new brood as foster kids to people who ask. Some of the kids are attending human schools (tho probably online). Vee is still pretending to be Luz, and Luz and Amity are spending all their time looking for a portal. Hunter has a part time job to try to help out with Camila suddenly having five more mouths to feed. Willow starts a garden in the backyard. Gus gets super excited about seeing giraffes at the zoo, then cries for two days because he's so guilty about feeling happy when he doesn't even know if his dad is alive.

“I know, sweetheart,” he leaned down to give you a kiss on your forehead.
The two of you got into a car that he had hired for the day for you. When you arrived at the zoo, he got out first then held the door open for you, while holding out his hand for you to take.
You took it as you got out of the car, he pulled you in close as you walked into the zoo. He’d bought passes for the two of you, so he handed them to the person at the counter who after scanning them, waved you through.
As the two of you walked around and saw animals like lions, cheetahs, chimpanzees, panthers, foxes, until you got to the giraffes. Once there, you looked in awe at the magnificent creatures.
You kept watching them for a while as you thought about how cute the baby giraffes were and how majestic the adult ones were. You didn’t even notice Steve watching you with such love. He loved how excited you got when you saw these beautiful giraffes.
It was a while later when Steve stood up and brought you up with him. You looked at him and smiled, “this is so amazing. I’ve never seen them in person before.”
He asked you softly, as he guided you closer, “would you like to feed one?” Of course, you nodded, wanting to get closer to the beautiful animals.
When you arrived, one of the handlers was handing out carrots to whoever wanted to feed the giraffes and you heard them explaining to children that it won’t hurt, but it might tickle a bit. You giggled hearing that, knowing that they were trying to comfort the children that were probably a little scared or nervous, but thinking that it was such a cute scene.
When they got up to the two of you, the handler handed you a carrot to feed one of the giraffes. They smiled at the two of you, and kindly told you, “the two of you make such a beautiful couple.”
Both of you thanked them before they walked off, and you smiled at Steve as he wrapped his arms around you.
When it was your turn to go up to the giraffe, you held the carrot in your hand and the giraffe took it and ate it. You gave him a pat before Steve took your hand and saw the other animals you wanted to see, before he led you out of the zoo and back towards the car.
He took you to a bookstore and bought you a few new books that you wanted. He even got himself copies of a couple of the books, so the two of you could read the same books and talk about them. He gifted you a beautiful necklace and bracelet set just before you went out to dinner.
You had a nice dinner at a beautiful restaurant with Steve Rogers. During the dinner, you both talked about anything and everything that came to mind.
At the end of the night, you ended up on the balcony of his room in the Avengers Compound, where Steve sat down on a chair and pulled you on top of him, “I love you, doll.”
“I love you too.”

Looking at a sort of resort place in West Wales for taking the kids on a holiday in the summer hols... How tf do people pay for these trips?! One I looked at, self catering, was over £2k for seven nights (£2140 to be exact). That's £76.50 a head, a night.
Even if it was only five days/four nights, it's still £1300. It's £81.25 a head, a night.
Think that might be one we save up for (except by the time we can save up for it, eldest might've aged out of a lot of the things there). I don't know.
I've had too much coffee because after the 15 minute nap I had at 1am-ish (I was watching Great British Sewing Bee) I've been Awake. Once I get to bed I know I'll sleep, but it's getting me there. Youngest woke up (something fell out of bed or it was eldest whacking into the top bunk's barrier - either way, Noise), so I wanna make sure she settles otherwise she'll cry the house down.
Coffee was good though. I bought oat milk for the hell of it (and it was on offer) and made iced coffees hence hummingbird thoughts and watching TikTok vids of a family at this resort place (it's called Bluestone and it looks lush, even for a self-confessed non-enjoyer of outsideness) and wanting to go but seeing the price and blanching. We have nature here. I could be less lazy and take the girls for a walk around here, but it's not as exciting as going away and seeing nature Somewhere Else.
It's only like an hour and a half away, I think. Hang on, I'll check... It's about the same travel time as going to Folly Farm. Now Folly Farm isn't cheap, but maybe we can go out for a day out there for my birthday? The girls haven't been this year (my sister bought an annual family pass for youngest's birthday the year before last so we used the bejeezus out of it - so totally worth it because it got us all out of the house and the girls could play in the adventure playground bits) and I wouldn't mind seeing the giraffes and the penguins again.
... Maybe I could see if they still do the zookeeper experience thing? I'd get to feed the giraffes!
Ok. Imma try sleeping on it. Who knows, I might wake up refreshed? I doubt it but you never know.
