so are you back on tumblr after a while or you're new? welcome! it's a lot nicer here lately, and, shockingly enough, the website actually works a lot better too, thanks to the hard work of a bunch of very talented people. the mobile app is constantly improving, but if you're on desktop and used to use things like missing e or xkit, the latest helpful extension is XKIT REWRITTEN, which you can go download and read about at @addons that was created by @april, who worked on new xkit back in the day and now works at tumblr itself!

here's some other helpful tips to know:

PLEASE REBLOG THINGS. it's the main form of engagement here. there is no penalizing for spam interaction, most people are not looking at your blog directly, and it is the main way people find you and you find good content to follow. for original content like fanart and fanfic, it also REALLY helps people out. likes are better for like, personal posts, and for storing things for later. also, it doesn't matter if you blog is a jumble of things - it's yours, nobody cares, and that's kind of the purpose of the site

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A PROFILE PHOTO, BANNER PHOTO, AND UNIQUE URL (that isnt like a bunch of numbers or something), or else people will think you are a bot and block you. you don't have to do anything fancy, you can use the default tumblr theme on your blog itself, but just make sure you look like a real account PLEASE

DO NOT CENSOR WORDS. much like on twitter, if you censor a word for a trigger, it will do the opposite of what you want - people's blacklist and mute functions won't work if the word isn't spelled out in the tags or the text of the post. also there isn't post suppression here.

Don't like your dashboard? Getting bored? Feel like your community is getting annoying? JUST FOLLOW MORE PEOPLE (and maybe unfollow some. a block and an unfollow are always ok). nobody cares, or can see about your follow ratio, and it'll help your dashboard feel more lively (you'll also not give as much of a shit about petty dramas). the follow limit is 5000 last i checked

keep your comments to the tags (unless it's like....really funny or adding something good? use your best judgement). the tags are helpful for subject matter, but you should also use them to talk as like side commentary!

Honestly, I am genuinely at a lost as to why some people get so mad and unforgiving over honest mistakes, especially when I mean it when I say I never meant any harm, and will listen and change my behavior if it's not appropriate. I have been in this fandom for a very long time, and I've always tried my best to be nice, and to do better when I can do better. And anyone who takes the time to actually get to know me at all, unlike those people who have honestly been very closed-off from the start, knows that I'm the opposite of an asshole, and that my life motto literally is 'let's be kind and show empathy'.

I swear twitter puts a negativity filter on everyone's brain, they expect the worst of everyone. The fact that they thought I'd sent people after them to 'harass' them, when I wasn't even aware of what was going on until my friend reached out to me to tell me about it, at which point said friend had already gotten involved, just baffles me. I'm a 36 year old adult with bad social anxiety, I live my life hoping to avoid drama or situations in which people will get angry at me in any way. The last thing I would ever think to do is have that kind of vindictive behavior, especially about something I knew I could have handled better. But you can't have conversations with the twitter crowd, you just can't. They will assume the worst of you and that's it.

I haven't been on twitter for a couple weeks now, except to post fic links for my followers who care about them, and honestly, I don't know if I'll be back, not when there are a few people who seem to enjoy scrutinizing the things I do or say.

I still want to do the Anna project because I want her to receive love from her fans, but my anxiety about this is too high at the moment, and my brain a bit too unkind.

I think one of the main issues with not only s2 but some of s1 as well as that only neil was involved with the creation of both of them because terry unfortunately passed away. It lost something vital in that moment. In s1, they still had the book and I think s1 did a good job as far as adaptations go with some grievances, but now in s2, it's whatever neil is going to do and with how active he is on tumblr and how the fans are and how he's reacting to them, it's losing the spirit of the original even further. Not BECAUSE the ship is canon, but everything else surrounding the ship and how we got there and how the writers and the actors are changing the characters more as they progress from one season to the next. I watched s2 feeling giddy for more good omens and very quickly that giddiness turned sort of confused and disappointed. I didn't want disjointed filler fanfic with a loose plot. It didn't fit. It didn't feel right. Overall, I didn't hate the season, but I didn't quite like it either. The handful of you good omens critical blogs have summed it up very well for me and I'm surprised it's not a more popular opinion. I've just seen a couple people talking about how book fans are complaining which is the most dismissive way to put it. I'm not sure if people are blinded by their theories and canon ship or they just don't care that this season felt almost fanmade, but I'm sad that the book and tv show versions are now miles apart rather than cousins.

I actually did like season 1, too. The book is very hard to transfer to tv imo and choices had to be made.

Technically, Adam is the main character, but putting more focus on him would either mean a) a kid show with a lot of stuff about the them or b) more Anathema and conspiracy theories discussion.

That probs wouldn't have worked that well, so Gaiman made the two most colourfull characters the protagonists and in order to flesh them out added to their relationship.

Other stuff was added for comedic reasons or drama. Which I get.

So season one was a fair interpretation with necessary (to appeal to a mainstream audience) changes.

And both actors were doing an amazing job, so that helps.

Another plus is that a lot of new fans had so much fun with the material and created a ton of art/fics and revived the fandom.

And then it went off the rails somehow.

The thing is, Good Omens isn't a drama. A lot of dramatic events happen, but they feel understated, it's mainly weird, quirky and funny.

It also isn't a love story. In the romantic sense.

There is a lot of love in the book.

And I truely do not know what exactly happened, that turned such a unique little thing into the most bland, generic romance.

Probably capitalism.

I mean, just watching Crowley and Aziraphale trying to weather everyday life without having their jobs anymore would have been hilarious, but probs to niche.

And I would love to know what made Gaiman change his tune in regards to the nature of their relationship.

He does not really answer stuff, though, he's good at circumventing.

I hope at least it wasn't tumblr that influenced him. In most cases a creative process suffers from too much social media interaction. (Season 3 could get even worse).

The fandom dynamics regarding criticsm are always complicated.

I do speculate that most hyper positive fans are fairly new, just in it for the ship and going with the flow.

Also critcism is kinda a four letter word these days.

Sadly.

I mean it can be fun and relieving to went or pick apart or even ridicule and as long as it's tagged correctly nobody gets hurt by it.

Maybe 'Good Omens' also is a sore subject, because after years of being vague, Crowley/Aziraphale actually got canonized, and no matter what they represent as, they do look like a gay couple to the general audience, and people might be afraid criticsm might reflect badly on the representation they finally got.

Who knows.

In the end, one can always cherry pick. I do like some scenes, I do ship Crowley/Aziraphale, but I'm disappointed that their characters went full on angel/demon cliche contrary to the appealing, nuanced book versions.

And yeah, there is no actual plot so we might as well have gotten smth like Crowley tries to earn money by becoming an uber driver or smth (there's great fanfic about that).

But that's just me, I do get why people enjoy it. Criticsm just helps to deal a bit with the disappointment, because, like you, I was initially thrilled about the second season.

I support byler and occasionally make posts about it, so I'd never say this on main but I think the writers could not manage to utilize byler well if going for byler was their intention. I think they should have given byler more personal scenes together that did not involve el in the discussion in some way. Because the truth is whenever they had a discussion, it was related to el some way or other instead of it being personally about them.

like even the apologizing scene has mike saying that he was worrying too much about el and that he thought he lost will's friendship because of his worrying about el... another scene has mike worrying about el leaving and reading el's note, and will reassuring him that mike will get the chance to tell el how he feels. the car scene is about mike worrying about el (i know some people think that mike was thinking about something else there but it is clear to me that he was worrying about el). the van scene-- mike says that he is worried that el will leave him bc he is some random nerd, etc.

I get that they do not only talk about el in those convos but it still revolves around her or at the very least, it includes her and that those convos are not actually about mike and will's bond tbh.

I think the writers should and could have given mike and will more personal convos, like talking about their hobbies, just having some fun or mentioning their lives OR in general anything that is not related to el in some way.

I'm criticizing this bc that's one of the most common stuff other people also notice whether it be mlvns or GA. That's why they think Mike spent the season thinking about El and he talks about El all the time and GA thinks mike is also just there to be for El, etc.

Before I begin, so no one gets annoyed, this is not a Byler doubt post but rather a "how should they handle Mike" post. But yeah anon, I agree, I think if they're intending Byler to be canon they could've handled it a lot differently. HOWEVER, I do think that S2 was very good for this as it really developed Mike and Will's relationship and if they pulled something similar to that for S5, I'd be very happy. I don't really mind if Byler is canon or not because I have no expectations that it will be (not saying no one else should, nobody come after me please), but at the very least, they need to put more focus on Mike and Will's relationship.

If Byler isn't canon then Mike as a character is heavily defined in relation to other people and particularly Eleven so I think fleshing him out and giving him dramas not revolving around her would be good anyways. I think S4 handled it well for the most part even if there were individual decisions I didn't like in particular the comment about meeting El being the best day (did the writers forget why he met her?) and him not noticing Will crying. Both decisions felt a bit out of character for me because whilst Mike is wrapped up in his own stuff, he cares a lot about Will. He noticed Will was particularly quiet in S2 when none of his friends did and he was the one to talk to him when he was mind flayed.

Basically, I just think that Mike needs a heavier focus on his internal struggles and to remind the audience that he's incredibly caring and empathetic. I think that's why the "heart" thing fell a bit flat, if they said that about S1 or S2 Mike, everyone would agree however because Mike has been so focused on Eleven rather than the party, it came off as disingenuous. You don't even need Byler canon to fix that even if it would help because they've established his character but he's become more of a prop in a love triangle than a person to a lot of fans.

TL;DR they need to establish Mike more independently in S5 but I also think they should've shown more of that in S3 and S4 as well regardless of shipping. Thanks for the ask and I'm glad you were comfortable sharing this, I know saying anything against Byler can be scary but it's surprising how welcoming fans can be except a couple of toxic fans. (Nobody tell me as a gotcha Mlvn fans can be toxic too, that's happened before and I'm aware, look at my ask box 💀)

Why You Should Play Too Hot to Handle

Pros:

Several customizations for the MC. From freckles, vitiligo, a thin, medium or muscular body, tattoos, piercings, earrings and different clothes.

Pronoun choices. He/His, She/Her and They/Them.

MC and characters change clothes during the day. Yes, it seems like a tiny detail but I love it, nobody criticizes you for wearing the same outfit, because you don't wear the same outfit.

Diverse and genuine personalities. The characters have unique and interesting personalities different from the others, nobody gets left or cut out and has their screen time. They don't boil down to just one thing, they are diverse in various personality topics.

Unique scenes. Even if you replay the same scene and choose different characters, the scene plays out differently with different dialogues and choices.

Great writing for the characters, the characters are beautifully written, they're stereotyped but not offensive, it's more of a caring badboy, heart of gold type etc, clichés but cute.

Balance between drama and cuteness. Every chapter has its moment of drama and cuteness, it's not just focused on one thing, one minute you're having a serious discussion and the next, a party to have fun.

Sex and romance. The characters don't complain or think it's bad that you don't want to kiss or have sex with them, they are very understanding about that.

All choices are free and the only thing paid is the individual bonus scenes with each character, but you can pay with charisma, that you earn with easy-to-get achievements.

Cons:

You need a Netflix account.

They all have genuine personalities but they all just focus on the MC, they do have a lot of moments and chemistry between them however they focus a lot more on the MC.

MC doesn't have a job or family option, yes, it's a tiny detail too, but sometimes it's nice to customize your MC's life, but it's good to be vague, because that way we can imagine.

The AU & Alternate Verses

Prior to the events of security breach, Monty was a new animatronic that was incredibly jealous of Bonnie. He didn't understand why he got to be in the front of the stage while he was stuck in the back with his drums when he played the bass even better than he did!! This resentment eventually lead for Monty to do the unthinkable. He asked to talk to Bonnie, where he threw him against the wall, slashed his torso open, ripped out the wires, and smashed a bowling ball into his head. Once the deed was done, Monty then hid the body away where it was never found.

For a whole year, Bonnie lay there, desperately sending some sort of distress signal that was too weak to get through to most of the animatronics. However, the voiceless wetfloor signs began to act strange, making odd sounds and turning to face just about anyone, as a result of this distress signal. In fact, those wetfloor bots helped Bonnie stay recharged via wireless technology, unbeknownst to the rabbit.

Then, somehow, Freddy found him, and he begged the human staff to help fix him. While they didn't have the right parts to fix him completely, they were able to fix him enough to where he was functional again. Bonnie had absolute no memory of how he came to be in such a state due to data corruption, but he does remember some things, which will easily agitate him and make him aggressive.

Due to his state, Bonnie is unable to interact with guests and do shows, which he misses, so he tends to loiter around behind the scenes where nobody can see him during the day.

In this AU, Gregory waited for the doors to open at 6 in Freddy's room after seeing Vanny and Moondrop, because he was absolutely terrified, however I am willing to negotiate this upon request. (Well, I'm just about willing to negotiate anything lore-wise, including Monty being the attacker.)

Verses

Main: This is the bog standard verse that the blog is going to follow that's already been described. Freddy found Bonnie after a year of him missing, begged for him to be repaired, and then he was given just enough to function. Bonnie still has a lot wrong with him, so he can't come out during the day and interact with the patrons, but he can still interact with his friends! This verse will not be tagged.

Yesterday: This verse is less of a verse, and more of a way to interact with Bonnie before the attack ever happened. This verse will primarily be used to form relationships with characters before Bonnie went missing. Here, Bonnie is in his full glory, happy, dorky, and not a care in the world, aside from drama between his friends. This is the ideal verse for children characters who aren't trying to spend the night in the Pizzaplex. Any asks that interact with Bonnie like nothing is wrong will be treated like a question being asked by a child in this verse. Will be tagged as Yesterday {Verse 🎸🐰}

Purple Monster: The circumstances of this verse may differ, but the end will always be the same. Maybe it was Bonnie's loneliness, or the feeling of being abandoned and forgotten, maybe it was the crushing realization that his friend was the one who did this to him, maybe he was hacked, or possessed. No matter what, Burntrap took control of Bonnie, and now uses his body to do what he pleases, and Bonnie doesn't have the strength of will to stop him.... or does he? This particular verse may require a bit of plotting, since there are so many variables that may or may not lead to this, but I'm all ears for it. Will be tagged as Purple Monster {Verse 🔪⚠️}

Glitched: Just like the others, Bonnie was hacked, enhancing his worst traits. The urge to be perfect became so intense, that it paved the way for his frustration and irritability to become noticeable. While bugged out, Bonnie acts very different, as if he is constantly on the verge of snapping and exploding. He becomes testy, and very hard on himself, criticizing himself harshly for even the smallest of mistakes. He can do better than how he's performing, so why isn't he?! While he has become more of a perfectionist, Bonnie only holds himself to a higher standard, not the other's, he never gets upset with their performance.

He comes off as angry when the other's ask him about it, saying it's fine when it's more than obvious he's not. His fists are increasingly finding themselves clenched more often, often denting, cracking, or even breaking whatever is in his hands. (Never his guitar or bass though, although he has also become increasingly more protective and possessive of those too.)

When it comes time to find a missing child roaming the Pizzaplex, Bonnie doesn't particularly care if he finds him first or not, but rather that he's found. At first, he is gentle, not wanting to harm him, but as the night progresses, he becomes more and more reckless and desperate, until he forgets he's not supposed to hurt the kid at all. As Gregory enters Bonnie Bowl to get Monty's Mystery Mix™️, Bonnie decides to corner him by throwing bowling balls at him with enough force to leave them stuck in the wall. Luckily, Gregory read in a log earlier that a specific ball return had to be put out of order, because it was spitting the bowling balls out fast enough to send a bowling ball hurling at the rack behind it and break it. All Gregory had to do was find the generator to the broken ball return, turn it on, and trick Bonnie into hurling the balls down that alley.

Bonnie chucked two bowling balls, but realized what he'd done too late. Bonnie was effectively hit with his own strength twice. First in the chest, then the jaw. The blow knocks him off his feet and sends him flying into the bowling rack behind him, leaving him temporarily offline as Gregory takes his ears.

From that point forward, Bonnie can no longer hear anything, and is relying on sight alone to find Gregory. Chica's voice box will not work on him after this point. (Not that the player should have that upgrade before then.)

With the ears, Freddy will be able to hear where any of the animatronics are based on their voices or footsteps. He is also able to hear Vanny.

After Bonnie loses his ears, his frustration is at a crescendo, leading him to cry as he continues his search, but this time, he's on a quest to get his ears back so he can play music again.

During the Afton fight, Bonnie will make his way down the hall at a slow pace. If the door is down, he'll force it open, Gregory must use a fazcam or fazerblaster to stun him- he'll stumble back, and eventually out the other door.

This verse is basically if security breach had Bonnie in it, and will be used for threads that take place during the game. I don't expect this verse to be used much, but it will be tagged as Glitched {Verse ⚠️🎳}

M.X.E.S: This is the closest verse to the game's canon perhaps. After Freddy, Vanessa, and Gregory left the Pizzaplex, they discover the mimic lurking below. Upon their return, Vanessa uncovered Bonnie, who had been damaged far beyond repair. At least, beyond repair for what the ruins of the Pizzaplex were capable of. Vanessa then took Bonnie's AI chip, and then used what was left of Bonnie to create M.X.E.S, instead. M.X.E.S can't speak directly, and he can't seem to change his facial expression once he's nothing more than a digital program, but he acts like Bonnie did, he thinks like Bonnie, he is Bonnie's consciousness. He remembers everything Bonnie does. He is only able to communicate with animatronics with a silent language that only they can hear.

When he sees Cassie, M.X.E.S tries to send the other's her way, in an attempt to stop her, and protect her- but the end result would have gone horribly wrong, unbeknownst to him. Seeing Cassie so afraid hurts, and all he wants to do is protect her, but it either ends in failure, or the V.A.N.N.I. program stops him. Being shut down will not kill M.X.E.S, he can be turned back on and still retain the memories. M.X.E.S will be unable to answer questions. This verse will be tagged as Ruined {Verse 🐰🖱}.

Unsalvageable: Glamrock Bonnie was an expensive animatronic, and Fazbear Entertainment deemed Bonnie a lost cause. With Monty's popularity, Bonnie had no reason to be fixed, given the cost or repairs, it just wouldn't be worth it. Given that he was so different, as well, there wasn't much the company could salvage from him, either, so the bunny was shipped off to the Fazbear scrap yard, where all the unused, replaced, and unsalvageable animatronics get dumped. Now Bonnie has to fight for his life, against other machines and avoid being turned into scrap metal- without his friends.

In this verse, Bonnie is pretty damn depressed, and he severely misses his friends, but he's also terrified. Like a cornered animal, it could be dangerous to approach him, if he sees you as a threat.

This verse is the vest way for characters from previous installments or fan games to interact. The Toys, the Funtimes, the Rockstars, Candy, Popgoes, etc!

This verse will be tagged as Unsalvageable {Verse 🐰🗑}

Ultimate Hell: set in Ultimate Custom Night, Bonnie and M.X.E.S. are both active and keeping a certain somebody in their own personal Hell, hoping to keep him away from the Pizzaplex, keeping him occupied. This is what Bonnie can do to keep his friends safe, even if he isn't physically there anymore. Bonnie dreadfully misses his friends, and often feels lonely, but he'd rather be able to protect them than do nothing.

In this verse, Bonnie's state will either appear as he is supposed to look, or as broken and damaged as his physical body is, depending on his mood/aggression. The angrier he gets, the more damages can be seen, and whenever he attacks the night guard, he appears fully damaged.

This verse... I'm not going to lie, I don't know how this works entirely yet, but it exists! Don't ask questions, this is a "Don't care, I'm interacting with characters that don't exist at the same time Bonnie does" verse.

This verse will be tagged as Ultimate Hell {Verse ⭐🔥}

Rabbit Ears: This is a human verse. Bonnie' full, birth name is Bonaventure Barnabus Bunnie, and he is the third oldest child of 14 kids in his family. As a result, his house is usually chaotic, and he often walks to his best friend, Freddy's house for some peace.

The default for this verse has him at age 23, which is around the time the band he started with Freddy is at peak popularity, but you can interact with him at any time.

A month after Monty joined the band, the two of them were involved in an 'accident.' Monty seemed okay, but Bonnie was in a coma for over a year. When he wakes up, he's 24 and he has chronic pain, particularly in his chest, right arm, and legs, with little to no recollection of what happened.

Bonnie is a natural brunette, he's been dying his hair on his own since he graduated high school. Music is his entire world, but he fell in love with 80's music when he heard Van Halen's Jump playing while grocery shopping. He's gone to school with Freddy since kindergarten at the very least, and he's been identifying as non binary since he was 18, but experimenting with his gender since he was 16. His family nicknamed him Rabbit Ears due to his habit of butting into conversations he wasn't apart of, to which his dad would reply "not you, Rabbit Ears!" Brent and Bridgette thought this was hilarious and that became his family nickname. While his parents named him Bonaventure, he still goes by Bonnie, and even considers Bonaventure a dead name once he identifies as nonbinary. Your character is unlikely to know that's his first name, unless you're Freddy.

The following information is not important, nor to I expect anyone to keep it all straight, but this is a list of Bonnie's siblings and his relationships with them:

Brent: the oldest of the Bunnie children, he acts like an asshole and definitely takes advantage of his little brother. Makes fun of him all the time, especially over the whole 80's thing. He's basically a frat boy. Despite that, he will fight you if you mess with any of his siblings, and he was absolutely pissed when Bonnie was comatose. He is six years older than Bonnie.

Bridgette: stereo typical teenage girl, even in her twenties, she's the type to only think about what parties are happening and hates having responsibilities, so she often pushes them onto Bonnie. Despite that, she helped Bonnie find his style when he first started experimenting with makeup, and even bought him a few makeup products to start out with and gave him a few lessons. Nowadays she turns to Bonnie for advice, but he's still her brat baby sibling! She is two years older than Bonnie.

Bibi: Bibi is Bonnie's Irish twin, but they really aren't that close. Bonnie has always felt protective of her, even as a toddler, and often times, during thunderstorms, Bibi would be frightened if Bonnie wasn't there with her. They were usually in the same class, but with different teachers, although in high school, Bonnie and Bibi had mythology and world history 2 together and often picked each other as partners. Bibi starter playing around in makeup about a year after Bonnie did, so she often stole his makeup since they both had the same complexion. She is nine months younger than Bonnie.

Becka: known as Becka Broadway, this is Bonnie's favorite sibling, and best friend in the family. Becka definitely pushed Bonnie to try out for musicals in high school, and he even performed the guitar in their school's rendition of Little Shop of Horrors, which included Mean Green Mother from Outer Space. Becka was the first sibling Bonnie came out to, and he's had her full support since day one. She is two years younger than Bonnie.

Bernadette: Bonnie sees Bern as a huge drama magnet, and she steals his makeup and dresses all the time. He's usually fighting with her, but he still loves her, even if he can't exactly tell if that's reciprocated. She is six years younger than Bonnie.

Bradley: Please stop being such a teenage boy, and for the love of god put deodorant on, and stop trying to be a Chad! He is eight years younger than Bonnie.

Bailey: Bonnie is incredibly protective of Bailey and regularly plays video games with her. Yes he is still salty about the cheap way she beat him at Mario Kart. Yes if they have an argument they settle it in Smash. Bailey is nine years younger than Bonnie.

Beckett, Breckett, and Beckham: the triplets are known as little terrors, and Bonnie regularly has to try and hold all three of them in his arms as they squirm around and try to cause even more trouble. They are eleven years younger than Bonnie.

Brielle: Bonnie loves and is protective of all his siblings, but when Bonnie was 14, he lost Brielle while taking care of his siblings and had an absolute panic attack over it. She'd shut herself under the sink, and was completely unharmed, but he's been extra protective of her ever since. She is 13 years younger than Bonnie.

Bartleby: Baby. Although, it is a bit annoying how Bonnie has to be the one to pick her up from daycare. She is 18 years younger than Bonnie.

Bobbi: Fetus. Bonnie loves him, hates changing his diapers. Also has to pick him up from daycare as well. He is 22½ years younger than Bonnie.

I feel so so miserable and dysphoric in this society ngl. I feel like i need- not even want but need to be in a place thats accepting of me and that makes me feel loved and welcome or at least. Tolerated or something and that i cant get that. I know its my problem bc so many people somehow live being themselves and taking criticism etc. But i just cant deal with unsolicited comments or aggression etc i just cant. Bear to think that people in society might perceive me to be weird. I feel like people cant be normal around the weird and weak, they just turn hostile and try to subjugate us or at best they become patronizing.

I feel like i dont belong to any community at all not even people like me theres always this or that trait that keeps me from belonging fully and no matter what i always feel like im an impostor pretending to be normal.

I know this is my own issue and im too sensitive to what i think people think of me and how they react to me etc and i shouldnt care but i cant help caring it was literally taught to me the hard way. Everytime people have wanted me so much to care about what they think always its so hard to unlearn.

Im at this point in this reaction of flight cycle where instead of trying to figure out how i could possibly find an accepting community im trying to figure out how to not be dependent on society anymore. My fantasies are turning to like going to live somewhere alone and subsisting by my own mean even if it means sacrificing things like comfort or some dignity i would aggressively protect being alone so nobody can come near me and perceive me or anything.

Obviously thats not realistic etc so. But im still thinking i cant help trying to figure how i could do that.

I just feel like i cant compromise- i cant be happy in this situation at all.

So im thinking the other way out is to die- which obviously is a thing i cant do bc some people depend on me and like. Its so so sad to die even though theres still technically hope of getting better. And its not fair. But im getting these urges and its like not even on a conscious level bc ive been suppressing suicidal urges but i have these parasite thoughts idk to do it in a way that makes it everyones problem bc i resent this society (and no individual in particular) so much and i want everyone to know that they failed and they were trash and they hurt me etc. But i cant pinpoint any specific people that i really resent. When it comes down to people who actually hurt me i think they just wouldnt understand (or sometimes care). No matter what i cant make anyone understand me or what i go through and the pain isnt going away.

And i know this is not a good way to feel or to think bc its very selfish and its nobodys fault in particular. And i have this toxic trait of when i feel bad i think its fair that everybody else feels bad too- which is bad and also i hate having this trait cause this is just what my dad does!! So im repressing thoughts like these and i dont talk about this to people around me bc the last thing i want is to actually harm someone especially if i care about them.

But yea i feel like i dont connect to anyone really. I connect to my spouse but i think its only bc we spent so much time together we attuned to each other but still. He is a person n i guess i need unconditional acceptance and love of my whole being- literally everything i do or say and i know its dumb and i shouldnt want it etc

Rationalizing doesnt make it go away though.

This spiraling was literally caused by a call from my landlord's girlfriend bc shes asking me to fill somth that doesnt matter and i shouldnt have to fill it and she was so rude bc i didnt receive her stupid email. As if its my fault?! N like. This is way more interaction ive had with this landlord than i care to have for my entire life. With these neighbors. I hate it here i hate it here!!!!!!! Theres always drama in this building!!!! I want to be left out of it!!!!!!

I feel like my life is just a nightmare that im trapped in. I have to pretend to be a human person all the time and i have to rely on my imaginary world and comfort interests to escape it all the time but when i think about it this is the only thing that makes me feel safe and accepted.

Idk why im struggling so much just feeling human and living with other people. I dont think anything ive been through is enough to justify this level of dysphoria and distress. I didnt ask for this. I just want to be left alone and live my life but that is too much to ask.

Sorry for the rant. Ill be ok though!!!!!!! Idk if anyone else feels like this but when it comes to DID i feel like for me its all about feeling unimaginable amounts of pain and still being able to function and be ok bc everything is kept compartmentalized. So in the end ill be ok n functional but ill hate it the entire time.

A review of Kaijumax and its themes

(trigger warning for mention of dark topics. Also Kaijumax spoilers)

Something that continues to amaze me about the kaiju genre is just how versatile it is. Its ability to mesh with just about any genre is no doubt a reason why it has persisted for what is gradually creeping closer to a century. And of course the best kaiju media always has something important to say sociopolitically, and indeed that commentary is part of its dna. From warnings of nuclear weapons, to failings of a current government, to nationalism and even the state of the economy. But these are usually topics that affect pretty much everyone. Very rarely do you see a piece of kaiju media that says something about topics more personal or about the people in society who have the least power.

Kaijumax is one of those few.

Created by @zandercannon (who I’m pretty sure has abandoned his tumblr) and published by oni press, Kaijumax tells a story of kaiju in a prison system, and the drama that entails. The kaiju are stand ins for marginalized groups and criminals this time, and while using city flattening monsters usually isn’t a good choice for representing these people, I think it works here because Zander has gone out of his way to make sure that humans are the ones with the power in this setting. The kaiju really do feel like minorities that society loathes often for hypocritical or even little reason.

Most review companies say Kaijumax is a cult classic (somehow it’s a classic even though it finished this year?) and this is a rare occasion where I agree with critics. Kaijumax is a must read if you can get your tentacles, claws, or whatever monstrous grabby grabbies you have on it.

So long as you can stomach it. It’s not gory or gross, but Kaijumax is one of the darkest pieces of media I’ve ever consumed in spite of its fun art style.

What I specifically want to talk about though is the messages it tells us and moments that define them. Of course this also includes spoilers.

Volume 1 sort of sets us up, and introduces us to everything. Usually we follow Electrogor and indeed he’s the main character in volume 1. Right off the bat we’re shown the brutality of prison life with gang violence and with nobody Electrogor can trust even though all he wants to do is get back to his kids and take care of them. Corruption and racism is rampant in Kaijumax prison. I should warn though that Electrogor does get r*ped off screen so that’s a potential trigger.

Volume 2 follows Electrogor breaking out to get back to his kids and one major theme for a few issues is…

Racism. There’s also quite a bit about the Thin Blue Line. We also see how Electrogor’s kids have been holding up in his absence and… it’s not the best. Electrogor and his daughter Torgrax produce uranium on their backs and in this setting uranium is a hardcore drug for kaiju. In order to make ends meet Torgrax has essentially been selling her body to support herself and her brother. She’s technically selling drugs but it plays out like prostitution. Despite the wild setting, this does unfortunately have parallels with real life. Many families in poverty have to resort to typically unsavory professions and crime just to get by.

Volume 3 has Electrogor and his family return to Kaijumax and this time it’s all about a gang war and abusive parents (Electrogor isn’t one of the aforementioned parents, don’t worry he’s a good dad). We also witness Whoofy (a Minilla expy) and his downward spiral due to his guilt complex over not being able to do anything while his father Apewhale and his gang destroyed cities. There’s also a bit of domestic abuse too.

Volume 4 shakes things up by showing us the women’s half of Kaijumax prison and we get to see some stuff about ptsd and more domestic abuse.

In volume 5 Pikachu’s ass gets the chair! Okay technically it’s a pikachu expy who’s the leader of a Pokémon and other mon games inspired gang. Most of the volume takes place in the court room and Pikadon’s case is morally grey, although he never tells anyone what actually happened and appears as a remorseless killer to everyone. He technically did kill someone cold blood and his reason for doing it was actually justified. We also get a bit of stuff about a character having been groomed (in fact that word is the title for one issue) and a Kaijumax inmate becoming horrified to learn that his boyfriend is the closest a kaiju can be to a pedophile; a literal child predator. Sprinkles the unidragon totally deserved to be choked to death for that.

Volume 6 is about an alien invasion touches on how the system in which we live in is absolutely fucked and that the true monsters in power do everything they can to stay in power and flatten anybody opposing them underfoot. This is the final volume and Kaijumax ends on a pretty bittersweet note. Telling us that the world we live in is ruled by complete sociopaths who will replace you at the drop of a hat, and that you have to play the long game and count your blessings.

Pretty dark stuff huh?

Of course Kaijumax isn’t all doom and gloom. There are plenty of fun and lighthearted moments, and my favorites have got to be when War of the Gargantuans expies perform the entire original godzilla film as a rap stage play, and when two team rocket expy lawyers in volume 5 show up fashionably late to court and perform the team rocket intro but lawyer edition. What I’m saying is Kaijumax can be fucking hilarious when it wants to, and is saturated in references and love for not just tokusatsu media but 90s animated shows and old anime. Some of these references are really obscure too. For instance I had no idea what Science Ninja Team Gatchaman was before reading volume 2.

Some of the references though are sprinkled into the dialogue through the various slang the kaiju use, which is very fun and clever. A lot of the dialogue references are godzilla related as that pretty much comes with the territory of being a piece of kaiju media, even if the setting of Kaijumax takes more after Ultraman. It should be noted though that in early Kaijumax these treaded close to actual slurs, but Zander and his writing consultant took note of this and laid off on the parallels, so if it seems a little much at the beginning, don’t worry, it doesn’t stay that way long.

At the end of every issue is also a few pages of extra stuff too, and this is where Zander does some Q&As and movie reviews, and tells you what little character you should keep in eye out for in the issue you just read. Sort of like a kaiju case of Where’s Waldo?. Usually it’s Grubbzo.

The art of Kaijumax evolves with each volume as well. With volume 1 being pretty good but by the final volume it has stylized and improved to such an extent that Kaijumax could be considered a sort of artist’s journey.

And speaking of art; I made fanart of my favorite characters!

Whoofy is actually pretty easy to draw but he was a lot of fun. Basically just a tube with limbs.

Here’s Kaijumax’s resident kind hearted hustler Giant Monster Terongo Terror of Pago Pago. He’s basically just a vaguely pterosaur shaped kaiju a la Rodan but I decided to see what he’d look like with more actual pteranodon anatomy. His color changes a lot over the story from blues to greens, so I took a middle ground and made him mint. I also tried making him throw peace signs but it just looks like he’s missing his thumbs.

And finally the main character of the show Electrogor. His design is really fun and has an early 2000s/90s monster feel to it. He’s obviously meant to be a nondescript bug kaiju but always thought that he could be a crustacean before realizing you could easily apply insect anatomy to him (so I guess still technically a crustacean). I also used Matt Frank’s art of him as reference too. He’s a little off proportions wise but I’m pretty proud of him.

That’s my Kaijumax review. Hopefully it was comprehensible.

okay I know posts abt this are prolly getting annoying but honestly I've just had so much on my mind since this entire thing went down and just. A small part of me wants to be able to double back, to say maybe all I've said abt littlemisstfp was just exaggerating internet drama over bad media takes and me getting too angry someone has a shitty opinion on the internet but no its not just that! Its this person doubling down even though everyone began to talk to me and to them about how uncomfortable they made minorities in this fandom feel! About how they were willing to throw so much of a community they CLAIMED to cared about under the bus and labels us freaks who are creeps and say we were defending porn of a minor. [nobody even brought up porn, only sfw shipping]

Littlemisstfp does so much more than just, have bad takes on the internet they double down on them double down on their bigotry and as much as I want to say them constantly reblogging stuff that is actually in the name of minorities counts for something does it??? Bc right after making a post abt how autism speaks hurts neurodivergent people they turn a blind eye to how they themselves hurt that community after reblogging an UwU 'love urself!' post they called a [back then] 16-15 year old me under the bus, publishing a public post that in no way had to be public where they called me a creep and accused me of liking l*lis and got their adult friends in on it too. And btw they dont even follow their own damn rules bc its been noted multiple times they interact with people who frequantly post content of Bee [someone they CLAIM to view as a minor] shipped with adult bots. But they'll still make posts that incite others to harass people over that same discourse even tho Bee being a minor has been disproven thousands of times by now and after all of that is over they'll say the only reason they got backlash was 'I dont like X popular ship' WHICH WASN'T EVEN MENTIONED IN THE POST THAT STARTED THAT INCIDENT EXCEPT BY THEM.

Honestly does it count for anything they even pretend to care about minorities? That they seem to reblog posts about IRL issues that they seem to choose to not think critically about? Does it? I dont know anymore. But all I know is I've bottled up these feelings for too long, littlemisstfp is a piece of shit. I honestly cannot believe anyone takes them seriously and truly they might be the exact definition of someone who uses irl issues and real problems that affect a lot of people and performatively pretends to care abt them only when it benefits their self image and when they feel they can get away with showing their true colors while the people they claim to protect and stand by suffer.

i don't get what exactly she's trying to accomplish? is she gonna promote the movie at all or will she keep using dune part 2 as a excuse? even though timothee (who is definitely needed more on set) is doing promo for bones & all. sure social media is on her side for now but she's already getting dragged. her saying that women fighting on and off camera is inspiring when she supports jd is peak white feminism.

Lol the thing is that as much as I don't like Timothee as an actor and find the fascination with him to be, I don't know, maybe a harbinger of the end times, he does seem to be professional, so like. Yeah. He would make it work for his schedule even if he did have to shoot Dune, because the movie he's promoting is a genuine contender for critical darlinghood from a director he has a good collaborative relationship with, who is a name. If not for this haze of venom and drama, I think DWD probably would've had a different critical reaction. Not glowing; but probably polarizing, around that 60% mark where some people are into it and some people go "bro, too much". The way things are promoted do matter, especially in today's world, where so many film critics are less about authentic critique and more about creating a meme or an otherwise viral moment.

And I think that what Timothee and the other young up and comers get, which apparently Florence doesn't, is that their fates and fame... it's not sealed. You don't get to have these types of shenanigans without a care over whether or not someone will cast you before you've got an Oscar in the bag ideally, and a good number of vehicles centered primarily around you for good measure. Julia Roberts could do Aloe Vera and still be America's Sweetheart, in part yes because of the lack of virality at that time, but also because... Nobody cared, she was so solidified by then. Florence's come up is very recent. Midsommar and Little Women were a few years ago. She still hasn't won an Oscar (yet). She took a legit year off, and there was a whole pandemic where the movies weren't a huge priority right after her breakout. There are girls waiting in the wings. Again I say, Zendaya would NEVER--and Zendaya cannot, because she's not white, even though she's much more bankable and tried than Florence.

I'll also add... This is one of two movies that WB pushed to release this year due to their financial troubles, and it's not gonna do what they want now. It's gonna fall on Olivia, but like, the movie industry is misogynistic and they're gonna blame the other woman too. I promise.

I don't know if she's gonna promote this more than she already has, but damn, I genuinely hope there is absolutely nothing that people who aren't happy with her at the moment can leak about her, because.... If I was Olivia Wilde and I had some incriminating texts or vids or whatever to share... Then the smart thing would be to see how the movie is turning out with critics, and strike back after. I'm not saying she should, at all. But....... I don't know. I just don't think this was a good long term move for Florence, and I've gotta think that part of it occurred because she's so online. And the more you're online as a celebrity, the more room there is for skeletons to come out. Everyone should be like Chris Pine with his flip phone.

ep37: a-qing just can't catch a break

the way his face just lights up when he has the opportunity to do something helpful...I mean I kind of get it but also. kid. get a hobby besides being a teacher's pet PLEASE

ohh neat. wwx talked a lot in the book about commoner's solutions to problems without cultivator involvement. it would have been nice to see a more pointed critique of the highly specialized and often impractical and elitist education the rich sect kids get

I love this shot. so mysterious and eerie! and he is so handsome <3

it makes me so mad that wwx is joking about a-qing's looks, not so much because I care about him being a dick and scaring the kids on purpose, but because it's a shitty and narrow-minded way to view a young person who is clearly suffering some kind of horrible...death? every single junior includes some comment on her beauty or looks and it's so annoying. she's more than that! she deserves more!

wwx scolding jl for emulating jc and sounding like a brat (or maybe more accurately to wwx's complaints, a little bitch) is weirdly satisfying to me. no he thinks the way jc raised jl sucks, actually, and he's trying to fix jl's attitude. here jl goes along with wwx's prank and then yells at him afterwards, even though he himself played along. a bit different from the jc situation sin he's a child, but I imagine wwx got irritated when he was younger a lot when jc would go along with his schemes and them turn around and complain about him as if he didn't particupate

STOP WEARING HIS FACE! YOU SICK FUCK. it's so bizarre to see xxc in black that I didn't even recognize him this time around. with the eyes hidden, it's a bit harder to tell

when I was reading swbts this weekend, she mentions that nobody actually follows all the precepts, because it's impractical and absurd. but there were some really obvious ones like 'don't murder' and it's nice to see that the lan precepts include some good things in there besides the well-criticized 'don't laugh without a cause' and such. also, lwj is the only person following every single one anyway and that doesn't have anything to do with whether he's a good person or whether he thinks wwx is a good person, either. they're really not connected and his character development is realizing that

aww, they're all offering their blood up. this little scene where wwx asked if anyone has blank talismans and commenting on their cultivation level was also explained further in the books - strong cultivators can write their own, but still-learning kids need to bring talismans that have already been written

wwx's face here is so sad. he admired sl and xxc so much and wanted to emulate them, and to see them come to an end like this...must be devastating. as if he hadn't already lost so much

ALSO the idea that would-be lovers turned on each other and tried to kill each other. I imagine that would be very difficult for wwx given his own history with lwj

I don't really think about villains in terms of whether they're 'redeemable' or not and I don't like to think of people as ontologically evil but man I don't think xy was ever going to be anything besides what he was. it did suck that he was mutilated as a child, and it must have been difficult growing up on the streets, but the glee with which he talks about mass murder makes me think he would have kind of taken any excuse to go wild and murder a ton of people. 'oh he just needed love and understand' well he got it! and he used it to trick the person who loved him into murdering more people and then he tortured and murdered their teenage ward/friend. I can appreciate a reading where he's more harmless and just funny in his destructiveness, but I will never be able to swallow AUs where he's genuinely a good person. loving murder is just too much a part of him!

there's also a line where the juniors make wwx say that lwj is good at stuff and he seems very taken aback to be asked, which is weird bc aren't they at least traveling companions? maybe he was confused at being asked to give an account with authority since he knows the kids still think he's a random jin exile who's known lwj for like. a few weeks max. man I don't like that moment, it seems really forced and awkward even if wwx is still in his 'I don't quite understand why lwj is doing this or how long it'll last' era. which also seems weird given them moments they've already shared and the comfort wwx has in stating with lwj? man, maybe it's easier if he doesn't have to think about it or explain it to other people. I GUESS

god this sucks....that's his last connection to his mama

while this wasn't as horribly dull and poorly done as the last third-party character focused plot (I seriously spent a lot of 34 thinking 'oh god, cql is bad after all), it didn't offer a lot in terms of special moments or humor. a solid 5/10. mediocre. let's see

i know some of you guys will probably instinctively wince because you got caught up in gamergate during your youth and only reformed/grew out of it later... but i think many would really benefit from watching the feminist frequency tropes vs women series (yes, it's been review bombed to hell and back by anti-sjw types.)

i was a huge fan of it back in the day, watched all the videos - but unlike current discourse, which is (and i’ve also been guilty of this) hyperfocusing on the perceived flaws of a single intellectual property, it took the broader approach that we ought to be critical of just how common these tropes are.

it really helps you look at media with a bird’s eye view, if you’re new to that kind of analysis. seeing your fave there doesn’t mean they’re “bad,” it means that they’re a part of a broader pattern that maybe shouldn’t be so widespread. you can always make justifications for why a certain trope exists within the context of (your favorite media), but the point is the broader discussion, NOT individual examples.

this is part of why it’s so frustrating how many “response” videos will pause the video at a split frame showing an example to mock - trying to “disprove” problematic aspects by arguing about the very particular examples - rather than understanding it as a critique of the tropes themselves. like. guys. the point isn’t whether mario is problematic. the point is how integral damsel in distress narratives and heteronormativity are in video games right up to present day.

this, i think, is also useful when judging the "base intentions" or "base politics" of a piece of media. a huge part of what initially appealed to my feminist sensibilities about steven universe was how it avoided many of the problematic tropes that plague most animation even today.

outside of representation, it also intentionally challenged the notion of hierarchy itself, by making its "heroes" thoroughly flawed and dressing down the notion of the perfect leader. a lot of media will challenge authority, but then just install a "good" king to replace the "evil" one. SU future is super important here, as it challenges the notion of steven as the "good" diamond/leader to replace the "bad" ones. you can't just replace the leaders, you gotta dismantle that unfair hierarchy. good intentions can lead to bad outcomes when someone thinks of themselves as a hero or savior, and hence "above" others. hence, a degree of empathy for everyone in that system is key. you're not better than them, and they're not better than you.

that's also a big reason why the criticism it eventually got was so frustrating to me. there seemed to be little awareness in the fandom how it was still better and had more progressive sensibilities than 99% of the media out there. it was like they thought steven universe was the first cartoon since the 40s to ever have blind spots, rather than that being the norm.

so, yes, there is also individualistic appeal to understanding the commonality of tropes as they relate to underlying systemic issues. when (non-youtube 🙃) critics call something “progressive” or “refreshing,” it’s usually not because they have lower standards than you or can’t see the problematic nitpicks - it’s because they’re able to put it in the context of what most media is actually like. they haven’t hitched their wagon to hating or loving one piece of media. they can't; they have to look at A LOT of media.

i’m far from the first to say this, but this kind of systemic approach is also applicable to things like the bechdel test. the point was never that passing or not made an individual intellectual property “good” or “bad” - it was how. fucking. common. it was for media to center men and male perspectives. it was pointing out that most movies don’t have several female characters who are able to have dialogue about something other than men. yes, trash like showgirls passes. nobody thinks that makes it good.

~drama about individual pieces of media tends to get more clicks and views, and that is occasionally important! i’m not saying individual pieces of media or its fanbases can never be questioned or, inversely, defended (otherwise, how could i justify spending so much time defending steven universe from that big overblown hypocritical backlash?)... but it also makes me sad.

like. i’m 25. i’m not that old, but in fandom spaces i feel fucking ancient. i feel like i'm from a different time in terms of media consumption and analysis - one where me and my fellow lefties knew that all media was in some way problematic.

maybe it was just more "in your face" then, so it was easier to spot... but whatever the reason, i felt like a huge part of leftist analysis was the acknowledgment that everything, even the media you love, is a product of a broader, unfair system. just like people are shaped by that system, too - and that's "the enemy," not individuals or individual works of art (almost like SU had a point about that). the unfairness in society at large will be reflected in the products that culture creates and consumes. so intentions and caring does, actually, matter.

gonna be honest: before the quackity stream, no, i didn’t.

now? i think it would be INCREDIBLY sketchy and odd if they let c!dream have an unhappy ending after all this.

see below the cut for why !! cut for length + heavy discussions about heavy subjects :]

warnings: torture, abuse, manipulation, discussions of morality, death/suicide discussions, violence.

there was such a heavy emphasis on his torture, and (something the smp actually does very well) humanising c!dream in that moment. they could have very well played him off as villainous and manipulative and conning c!quackity etc, but they didn’t, and i think that speaks for itself - c!dream isn’t The Big Bad, none of the characters are The Big Bad, the Big Bad of the series is revenge and violence and miscommunication, no single person.

and i’ll be frank, before the quackity stream, i was always very uncertain about some of my analyses, and some of the analyses of c!dream that i’ve seen. i always asked myself if c!dream was only sympathetic because i chose to view him as such or because i was biased to the villain or because i was reaching, or maybe even a result of poor writing - but it’s so so obvious now that’s not the case. humanising c!dream and making him so complex was a very deliberate move and his character IS as multifaceted as we think, and i’m incredibly glad for that.

don’t get me wrong, i don’t think his happy ending (or peaceful ending) will come for a bit. he’s being tortured, he’s in the worst situation the server has ever seen, the only people who know about it hate him and are allowing/causing it. if he returns to his old ways when he gets out - and he will get out - it won’t be a surprise to me, at all.

but i don’t think they can, in good conscience, a) let c!dream meet his final end in prison (as in, that’s where his story ends and he never comes back) or b) return him to his old ways forever, because of several things.

for one, it wouldn’t be great narratively-speaking. looking at this from a writer’s perspective, we have an incredible set up of characters and plot right now - we, in theory, have our next three Human Antagonists in c!quackity, c!bad and c!wilbur, none of which are c!dream. it’s a perfect opportunity for him to have some sort of ‘redemption’ by fighting on the right side ie. against the egg and against the destruction of the server. why would they go back to using c!dream as a scapegoat for all the hurt on the server when they can move on to another??

not to mention !! the story is clearly beginning to angle towards the “everyone is morally grey and it’s the Nurture rather than Nature that’s bad” — to continue to portray c!dream as the ultimate evil would be cliched and it’s already been done. a far more interesting angle would be to look towards nobody being 100% good or 100% evil (something the smp already does very well).

furthermore, but secondly, the creators and scriptwriters are always very careful about the kind of messages they’re sending to their audiences: especially cc!dream, who is criticised constantly and scrutinised sharper than any other creator i’ve seen. it’s unfortunate, because he doesn’t deserve that amount of criticism for past mistakes or drama he’s not even involved in, and the unnecessary hate he gets makes me ill, but he is subsequently incredibly conscious of how things will look for him. i was confident c!tommy’s arc wouldn’t end with him dying to c!dream or at his own hands in exile, because a) poor storytelling and b) what kind of message would it send to fans? c!dream manipulated and destroyed c!tommy’s life in season two — to have c!tommy lose against his tormentor wouldn’t send a good message to the younger audience, even if it is fiction - it would upset a lot of people, especially people who had been through similar torment to c!tommy in regards to abuse/manipulation.

and while the whole message thing is a sketchy argument to some, it’s important to realise the other messages dream smp has implied or outright shown us so far: “you are strong enough to survive your circumstances” (c!tommy), “be loyal to your friends and to yourself” (c!tubbo), “severing attachments never works and it’s okay to have attachments to material things too” (c!dream), “the people you hold up on a pedestal are not always the heroes you think they are” (c!wilbur), and many many more. there are LOADS of lessons, ranging from rhetorical questions about how effective the lessons of violence are in communication to outright messages of choosing healing over revenge or vice versa (and the consequences of that). the dream smp is notorious for the messages it sends. one of these? nobody is 100% good or 100% evil. we see times where all characters are both, and i think killing c!dream would eradicate an opportunity to highlight this even more.

not to mention! think about the message it would send to the slowly amassing c!dream sympathisers/apologists + also the rest of the fandom. “when you hurt people because of mental illness/trauma, not only do you face torture and vilification, you will never have the chance to repent for your mistakes and make yourself a better person, and instead will be hurt yourself in tenfold and your past actions will ruin your life until you die”... i mean !! that’s a shitty message, especially with how much emphasis is being placed on c!dream’s torture and struggle right now.

thirdly (is that a word?? idek at this point) — i am a huge critic of the “it would be better if he died” argument. a huge critic of it. it might be my crippling fear of death LMAO, but in my mind, the idea of c!dream dying after everything he’s been through ?? just,, dying like that?? it makes me INCREDIBLY uncomfortable. and i understand the appeal in it: c!dream is in an awful situation, and he’s been through hell. the likelihood of him going to therapy and fully healing is low, i’ll be honest. but death is never the answer, death is never the solution, and it is certainly not the end that c!dream is going to face; not like this, anyway. i run through scenarios in my mind of ways he could possibly die — at c!quackity’s hand, at c!tommy’s, at c!sapnap’s, at his own; because of the egg, because of the prison/torture, because he can’t go on anymore, because he returned to his old ways — and none of them seem feasible.

i don’t think c!dream is going to reach his final death, especially not permanently. he might die, yeah, but that won’t be the end for him, and it’s not the happy ending i’m talking about either. if he dies, he’ll come back: i’m 90% sure of it. cc!dream is one of the best actors in the series, he’s an important character, and the series just,, wouldn’t be the same without him?? a lot of characters are built off their relationship with him or mysteries surrounding him (think c!ranboo, c!karl, even c!tommy, etc) — it doesn’t make any sense for him to die while so much is unknown. c!dream still has a hell of a long time to go. i know it.

so, to start coming to an end of this analysis ramble about c!dream, how do i see his potential happy endings playing out? here are a few ideas:

he breaks out. i think this is inevitable. he’s going to break out of prison or be allowed out. mainly because of how heavily it’s been hinted - either someone is going to break him out or he’ll be released because he’s needed.

he teams up with the ‘good guys’ to defeat the egg. this seems the most plausible for me rn — there’s a constant emphasis on how sides are what tear people apart, and if they have snowchester, the syndicate, and everyone else (including c!dream) band together against the egg for one final battle, this could be a good way to show c!dream healing or at least doing something positive to help those he’s hurt.

teaming up with c!wilbur. this is also a pretty plausible one because of how favourably c!dream spoke about c!wilbur, and how insistent he seemed to be that c!wilbur would be the one to break him out. it would be very interesting to see the two of them work together to destroy the server with different dynamics this time!

he joins the syndicate. c!dream doesn’t have particularly good relationships with c!techno or c!philza, but doesn’t necessarily have negative relationships with them either - if we’re following the exile arc plot with the prison, it makes sense for c!dream to go to c!techno and ask to be helped to use up c!techno’s favour.

he returns to his old ways only to be ‘redeemed’. this doesn’t feel as plausible, just because i know a lot of people aren’t fond of events/arcs repeating with only minor changes (personally i love it, but i know a lot of people don’t!) but it would be incredibly interesting to see. c!dream pushing himself back into this big bad villain role, only to be talked down by c!tommy who has realised by this point that Nobody Is evil or someone else who has the same realisation, and he gets to heal from that.

c!quackity/c!tommy kill him over the revive book, he becomes a ghost + eventually comes back. i’m very against the permanent death theory, like i mentioned before, so maybe i’m just trying to avoid that, but c!dream still has a lot of ties to the story and so to kill him and have that be his final end doesn’t seem right. it’s potential that he could come back as a ghost or even revive himself - and, by that point, people have realised that he is also a victim of the server/society and begin to set in stone his healing.

or, lastly, of course, we have possession. it’s still mildly plausible that c!dream is possessed by a demon/dreamon - though i personally don’t think so, given the lack of hints or indications we’ve been given at this point towards that being the case. an easy way to ‘redeem’ c!dream would be to have all his actions be stemming from demonic possession: upon exorcism, he’d be technically innocent from any of the crimes/trauma he’d committed/caused.

but yeah !! these are only some of my thoughts - but i don’t think any character will remain a villain or get a necessarily unhappy ending, certainly nothing as tragic as the situation c!dream is currently in. death is never a good option or answer, and, as we know, death isn’t as permanent as it once had been,,, even if they kill dream i doubt he’ll remain dead. cc!dream is an incredible actor and asset to the smp, not to mention he literally owns it ,,, but i have full faith in how he writes c!dream. he knows his character so incredibly well, and needless to say, i think we’re in safe hands with him.

remember: cc!dream chose to describe c!dream as ‘repressed’, not as evil or as manipulative or anything like that. that’s essential to remembering c!dream is Incredibly Complex and due to not being one-dimensionally evil is less likely to suffer needlessly just to die. though i’d be interested to hear any other thoughts on this too !! :D

Hannibal sits in on a regular conversation between y/n and her family. Y/n insists it could have gone worse.

Anna lived her life believing that she was the main character, constantly denying personhood to everyone around her. She was the romantic hero, and everyone else existed to forward her plot.

This metaphor was imperfect, however, because in all the books you'd read, the main character must overcome some kind of challenge. Nobody ever said no to Anna. Nobody ever criticized Anna. Nobody but you. So you were pigeonholed into the role of antagonist for it. You had to give her credit; growing up on the receiving end of her and Theresa's torture was a compelling villain origin story.

It was obvious that she only wanted you at her wedding to present her with an obstacle. Heaven forbid her story progress without some semblance of petty drama out of her control. She'd cornered you into a painful catch-22; you wanted vengeance, but you couldn't give her the satisfaction of having her special day ruined. What was your play? Ruin it just a little? Walk away?

These thoughts passed through your mind as you sat through the boring ceremony. You wanted to lean over and whisper everything to Hannibal, but he seemed lost in his own thoughts. The vows seemed to drag on forever. Liam's English accent grated on your ears and you wished that he would just shut the hell up.

The ceremony concluded and you hoped to skip out on the reception with a purse full of mini cannolis, but fate had other plans. In a last-minute reach for some kind of scene, the blushing bride waved you over to the head table.

"[F/N]!" Anna shouted, with a big smile across her face. "Come on!"

You fought the urge to feel endeared by this. She looked too happy to be harmful. Your guard was all the way up as you and Hannibal approached the table.

Hannibal pulled a seat out for you while you studied Anna's expression. She fixed her doe eyes on Hannibal. You knew from experience that Anna had the same powerlust as grandma and Theresa. She was just better at keeping a lid on it.

"[F/N], you remember Liam?" Anna said, her voice brimming with excitement.

"Yeah." You nodded, scooting your chair up. "Nice to see you again, Liam."

"Good to see you again, too [F/N]."

"Liam is from Birmingham." She bragged, her smile somehow growing wider.

"Alabama?" You piped up before taking a drink from your water glass.

Every time you were forced to interact with Liam, she reminded you that the man with the strong and unmistakable English accent, was in fact from England. And every time, you slipped in the Alabama comment. It was never not funny.

"Liam, Anna," you said. "This is my fiance, Dr. Hannibal Lecter."

"Many congratulations to you two." Hannibal offered.

"Dr. Lecter, thank you so much for coming." Anna returned. "And thank you for taking such good care of our precious [F/N]. I hope she's not giving you too much trouble. She was quite a handful growing up, but we made it work."

"Don't flatter yourself, you're only four years older than me." You hide your passive-aggressive jab beneath a smile. "You can't take credit for a job you didn't do."

Grandma always thought Anna's protective, borderline maternal behavior towards you was adorable. Of course, it disgusted you. You were little more than an accessory to her. A baby doll she could simulate motherhood with. But, in fairness to her, that was all you were to the adult in the house too. Monkey see, monkey do.

"So have you two set a date yet?" Grandma interrupted your thoughts, just trying to keep the tension down.

"Goodness, no." Hannibal answered. "Ours is a long-term engagement."

"Yeah." You added. "Not until I finish school."

"Well, it's not my fault you aren't expected to graduate on time." Grandma said into her wine.

You tightened your grip on your water glass. "Well, changing your major halfway through will do that."

"I'm just saying," Grandma continued. Whenever she was 'just saying' anything, you knew she was raring to stir things up. "If you had just stayed the engineering track, you wouldn't have to keep Hannibal waiting."

"Well!" Anna cut in, offended that the attention was off her for more than a minute. "Liam and I waited until after college."

"Yes, Anna," Grandma said dismissively, before turning back to you. "Y'know, Dr. Lecter here could probably tell you that psychologically speaking, women are more likely to drop out of college and become strippers when they change their majors?"

Now it was Hannibal's turn to down his entire glass of wine. "Ms. [L/N], where did you get that information?"

"Oh, it was an article I found on Facebook." Grandma answered. "I'll have [F/N] send you a link."

"Ms. [L/N]," Hannibal cleared his throat. "Are you familiar with the concept of misinformation?"

"Of course." She looked offended at the implication that she could possibly not know something.

"See, social media websites like Facebook are inundated with misinformation campaigns." Hannibal explained. "Your claim is not rooted in any psychological fact."

"Yeah, also," You cut in. You scanned the area for escape routes if your attempt to change the subject went awry. "There's a wonderful documentary about how Facebook misinformation campaigns targeted rural counties in England leading up to the Brexit vote."

"Oh, we have a funny story about Brexit." Anna interrupted, taking the bait, hook line and sinker.

Before she could recount the same boring anecdote about being at some regional chain restaurant when the vote was cast, Theresa and her husband joined the table.

"Sorry we're late," Theresa sat down. "Damage control is a twenty-four hour job. What were we talking about?"

"Misinformation." Liam said.

"Perfect timing." You muttered.

"Finally, all three of my girls are together again." Grandma threw her head back and rejoiced. "When was the last time we all got together? Just us four girls, huh?"

"Remember the day before prom, we all went out go get manicures?" Anna reminisced. "And we took pictures of us all dressed up?"

"Oh I remember." You scanned the area for any alcohol to ingest.

"Oh, this is so funny." Grandma laughed hysterically. "Dr. Lecter, did you hear this story? [F/N] went to the prom with a boy who had all along been using her to get close to Theresa! They got together that night! Dated for two whole years after that."

"I've heard an iteration of it." He said, looking over his shoulder. He flagged down a waiter who was holding a bottle of champagne. "Leave the bottle, please."

"Don't drink too much, [F/N]." Anna scolded. "Save some alcohol for the rest of us."

You made sure to maintain eye contact with her as you filled your flute to capacity. "Grandma's paying, isn't she?"

"Anna, baby," Grandma said, rubbing her temples. "It's fine. Let [F/N] drink herself silly. It's a party, right?"

"Wow," Theresa sneered. You knew exactly what she was going to say next. "Like mother, like daughter."

Everyone at the table had enough decorum to recognize that Theresa went too far. You crushed the champagne flute in your grip, letting shards of glass dig into your skin. You glared at Theresa, blood oozing from your palm and dripping onto the white tablecloth.

Wordlessly, Hannibal removed the offending glass from your hand and swaddled the affected area in a napkin. He put pressure on the cut, letting the blood absorb into the cloth.

"Is this the famed '[L/N] woman telepathy'?" Liam whispered to Anna.

"No, [F/N] is just mad because her mother was a drunk who killed herself." Anna thought she was being inconspicuous.

"This has been fun." You stand up from the table. "Really. Great way to spend a Saturday."

"[F/N], sit down..." Grandma ordered, sounding exhausted. "You know Theresa didn't mean that."

"No." You said, each syllable out of her mouth pushing you a step closer to your breaking point. "Y'know what? No. I don't have to put up with this anymore. Anna, congratulations. I hope you and Liam have many long years together."

You turned around to exit as quietly as you could, Hannibal at your side. Your grandmother, who somehow hadn't hit her daily allotted dose of confrontation, wouldn't have it.

"Dr. Lecter, tell [F/N] she's being unreasonable." Grandma pleaded.

Hannibal raised his eyebrows in genuine surprise. In his long-spanning career, he'd never once met a person as tone-deaf as Beatrice [L/N]. He kept his quiet composure as he slowly approached the table.

"Beatrice," he said, beckoning her to lean in. He whispered something into her ear that left her stunned and quaking.

You could hear your grandmother's hysterical sobs growing softer as Hannibal hurried you out.

"Keep pressure on that cut, love." He instructed, talking over the increasingly loud shouts of agony from the head table. "You'll need a few stitches."

Once you were far enough from the venue, you had to ask. "What on earth did you say to her?"

"Nothing that you don't already know." He answered, facing forward.
