I cannot get over how c!Ranboo saw Mexican Dream coming towards him in a boat and saw the green skin, thought it was c!Dream and immediately said “have you come to take me back? is it time?”
Like I knew they were working together, but it was always subtle implications. This was solid evidence. c!Ranboo is waiting on c!Dream to bring him back for something specific. Perhaps a particular step in The Plan that will be the season 1 finale?

you know what here’s my unhinged crack theory for the day: badboyhalo is the previous time traveler. him seeing sam bucket’s ritual in the forest was him going back in time to the wither cult. that’s why the ancient-looking fountain remains when bad comes back but nothing else does. it’s why he seems to have poor memory regarding sam bucket. it’s why foolish was named in the ritual.
there we go mystery solved. have a nice night.

Connecting the Dots: The Jailbird Backstory, and Pre/Early-SMP c!Quackity Analysis and Theories
Previously on the c!Quackity canon backstory analysis, we laid the conclusion that he technically has two canon backstories, which may or may not be contradictory or overlapping, depending on interpretation. [AO3] [Tumblr]
Last time, I went into the MCM backstory more, since it had a greater impact on the lore and is generally considered "hard canon" [Video summary here]. This time, however, I'll be looking specifically into the 'Jailbird' backstory, as I call it, AKA the "juvenile detention" one, which is more "soft canon" but has a surprisingly large amount of detail to it—even more than I initially thought when I made my previous post, since I started to dig through more early c!Q VODs to get more information on that initial backstory.
This post primarily serves as a summary for the information I found regarding the 'Jailbird' backstory, VOD by VOD.
So, everyone, sit back and relax, because I already did the hard work for you over the course of months. Oh, and this post refers to the characters, not content creators (unless specified otherwise).
CW: Child neglect, imprisonment, mental health/PTSD, self-neglect, substance abuse (including by a minor).
[Click here to read this analysis/theory post on AO3]
Background
Quackity claims to have been stuck in juvenile detention, allegedly called "SMP Juvie" [B, 10:50], for a contradictory amount of time: 10 years [A, 1:35:20], 41 years [A, 1:36:40], or 43 years [A, 1:46:25], all claims in the same livestream.
However, the "41 years" one was claimed just after Tubbo said he lost ~41 levels of XP during Tommy's 'test-mugging' for the Cartel about 6 minutes previously, so I don't know if that claim is to be taken seriously or not; besides, tapping into the Duck theory, 41-43 'duck years' is about 10 'human years' anyway, so we're sticking with the "10 years" claim for this analysis.
Since we know c!Quackity is similar in age to cc!Quackity through various livestreams in Season 1, it's safe to assume that he's ~19 as of Season 1, and ~9 when he got sentenced.
The reasons behind his imprisonment have never been explicitly stated. When asking Dream to whitelist Q onto the SMP, Tommy claims this reason was because Q got into "fun juvie" for "having too much fun" [C, 0:43], but it's not confirmed whether this is a cover story for a more serious crime, a metaphorically true reason, or a complete lie in that Tommy doesn't know the 'crime' either. Some of the theories for how Q ended up there have varied, but are not confirmed in any way to be canon:
Drug-related offenses: Posited by @lasnevadaslaborunion. In one livestream, Q claimed to have "got off that shit years ago" in response to Karl giving him 'heroin' without him knowing. [E, 4:25] This "years ago" is non-specific, so it might go back a decade… and fair enough, in some countries, possession of hard drugs like heroin can land some pretty hefty prison sentences. Whatever way it goes, it still implies exposure to hard drugs as a child… yikes. (Note: This is not my personal theory on how the heroin thing happened. See below for that.)
Misadventures in other video games (e.g. Roblox, Club Penguin Island, etc.): This one is a little meta, but before his MC-related content, including the DSMP, cc!Quackity was quite infamous for raiding various video games, to the point he's part of the Trope Pantheon as an ambiguous-ranking 'deity' of the Internet Counterattack trope (yes, really). It's possible that his character counterpart did something similar at a young age… and ended up behind bars. It probably helps justify and give context to the 'imprisoned for "having too much fun"' excuse Tommy gave, as stated above. And Toontown-affiliated backstories would fit right into this category, regardless of what he did — the game's villains are fun-haters, after all.
A Disclaimer on Realism
Now, here's a little question before we dive deeper: can 9-year-olds be sentenced to juvenile detention in the first place?
The answer depends on where you live. Some countries have a minimum age for children being prosecuted. The US apparently does not, but that's an argument for another day, and one that is unrelated to Minecraft roleplay. My point here is that the aforementioned minimum age is 14 or older in several countries, and even in the US, most convicted juvenile offenders tend to be in their older teenage years. [Source]
Also, according to many articles I had to look up for this post, many juvenile offenders aren't even sent to jail, they usually have other, less severe sentences, like probation or home confinement or fostering, so the odds of a 9-year-old child ending up in juvie is actually pretty unlikely, realistically speaking, if legal at all.
…And for a sentence of 10 years or more? As stated above, the reason little!Q ended up there at all was never mentioned.
However, since that did happen in soft DSMP canon, I'd have to say… the poor lad would have basically spent most of his childhood incarcerated. I wonder if he still remembers anything about his life before that point canonically.
Environment and Trauma
Even though nothing is actually shown, there's a surprisingly large amount of descriptions of the environment in the juvenile detention centre, for lack of a better term, in the early livestreams.
When Q first joined the SMP, his first remark was on the fresh air, probably because Spawn is still a distance away from the warzone, and that he felt "alive again". [C, 3:13]
There's also this line: "I didn't have the smile in juvie", likely referring to his now-iconic :] smile. [C, 4:00] Oh, and canonically confirmed PTSD. [D, 16:40]
The interior of the prison itself is unstated, but is implied to be made of grey stone-adjacent blocks, if Q's reaction to setting his spawn in the Courthouse in the Sky is any indication. [D, 22:10] So… I'm speculating its interior either looks like the Cops and Robbers map or… this map cc!Q did in 2019 (minus the escaping), or something like that.
For whatever reason, Q seemed to have claustrophobia, and may or may not have been triggered into a panic attack and a mental breakdown and a half. [C, 11:30]
He claimed to have a lot of allergic reactions, but to what exactly, it was never mentioned. [C, 15:15]
Q might have also tried to escape on at least one occasion. At one point, he offers to show Tommy the "blueprints" for his Cartel plan [A, 1:16:40], but doesn't want others to know about them because they were "a secret where [he comes] from". And then there's this line: "If someone leaks a blueprint… things– all I'm gonna say is things don't go well for those who leak the blueprints, Tommy." Tommy did actually leak the 'blueprint' for a few seconds [A, 1:17:53], but in the context of juvenile detention, as we'll discuss in more detail later on… I'd suppose things wouldn't go well for people who leak prison blueprints, if you choose to interpret the line this way. In the same livestream, he might have tried to break out with a screwdriver, but clearly that didn't work. [A, 1:38:30]
Q recalls apparently breaking his legs like "the second night of juvie" [C, 23:04], most likely from falling, but honestly most of us are concerned how this even happened, and which incompetent nincompoop was running the place to allow children to get injured so easily. So… either the structure of the detention centre violates health and safety regulations, or the 'guards' (for lack of a better word) are shit at their jobs, or both.
In the middle of planning out their heist and preparing to 'test-mug' Tubbo, Q claimed to have been clean from 'drugs' for "30 minutes" at one point. [A, 1:25:40] If this is true, this implies somehow he managed to have access to whatever 'drugs' he was using at that point. This also possibly lines up with the 'heroin' incident mentioned above… which I theorize would be correlated to some other information I found — heroin is "used in the palliative management of bone fractures and other trauma, especially in children" [Wikipedia]. In layman's terms, it basically means heroin is sometimes used as pain relief. I think you might be able to connect the dots from here, but that's just my theory.
A final note in regards to Q in the early days — he appears to have a tendency of neglecting his personal health, which goes from him joining the DSMP all the way into the Manburg era. He walks around on low health and hunger fairly often, usually as a result of taking damage and never healing up, and even when he doesn't have food on him, he doesn't ask others to give him some so he can regen. [e.g. D, 28:50] Heck, this is how Niki got arrested just after Schlatt's election — she 'hit' Q to snap him out of a breakdown and a half and ended up killing him (non-canonically) because he was on half a heart and insufficient hunger to regen at the time. This tendency is recurring to the point one might even call it a bad habit. I don't know if his past has anything to do with this, but one might argue it is a manifestation of "reckless or self-destructive behavior" under the symptoms of PTSD.
Shared Past with TommyInnit?
Q and Tommy seemed to at least know each other and be friends even before Q's official first appearance, but how exactly is unstated.
In Q's first appearances, Tommy has claimed to only know of him as the best in the Cartel business and teamed up with him, but considering their already amicable relationship even in their 'first' canon conversation, as well as the fact that Tommy gets RL Given Name Privileges with Q [A, 1:32:15], this seems unlikely.
The two had a 'conversation' about having "met in high school". Since it was more likely than not a cover story for the Cartel, its legitimacy is doubted. [A, 1:30:00]
Tommy was apparently the one to get him out of juvenile detention, somehow. [C, 16:05]
Relationship with MCM Backstory
As cited in the previous analysis post, I raised some suspicions that the M!necraft Mondays backstory may have been retconned from the 'Jailbird' backstory as the timelines for the two don't appear to line up. However, I would like to go back and disprove this suspicion, as upon closer examination, the VODs themselves suggest that the two backstories coexist.
On his first livestream on the DSMP, Quackity mentions having met Technoblade before during MCM and claimed that Techno was scared of him (Jack didn't believe that) [D, 48:20].
Knowing what actually happened in MCM (links above), it's suggested that Q was highkey projecting his feelings in the moment, which would line up with his later behaviour.
Canonicity
Also in the previous analysis post, I also raised suspicions that the 'Jailbird' backstory is no longer considered canonical as a result of retcons. However, once again, I would go back and correct that this backstory is soft canon: the 'Jailbird' backstory is closely associated with the concept of the Cartel. The Phantom Membrane Cartel (PMC) was established during Q's second voice-only appearance on the server [B, 7:40], but the plans of the Cartel idea were first laid out the day prior, i.e. during Q's first voice-only appearance, and the PMC was simply a continuation of the initial Cartel plan [B, 3:35]. The PMC itself was later canonized officially as hard canon in Season 3 [F, 44:05]. As a result, the canonicity of the 'Jailbird' backstory is implied to be confirmed by association.
There are also possible hints towards the canonicity of this backstory in the first Las Nevadas stream. While passing by the minimum/moderate security holding cells on the way to visit Dream, Q makes a joke with Sam, asking if he might ever be put in one of the cells, and then saying "you know how I am" when Sam wasn't amused. [G, 1:00:50] Of course, this can just as easily be referring to Q's jokester nature, but one would wonder.
Oh, and as a bonus, Tiger the cat is implied to be canon too via association, if you interpret it that way. [B, 5:45]

So I have a very unlikely Dream SMP lore theory.
This will contain spoilers from both Wilbur and Foolish's June 6th, 2022, streams.
I think Foolish is going to put himself in the position to be the next big traitor.
"But Sam, Foolish needs to have established allyships/friendships with more members of the SMP for that to happen!"
That's true, and here's how I think it could happen.
Foolish wants Sapnap. Sapnap, who is in possession of The Book of Death. Foolish is trustworthy to Sapnap because Foolish hasn't really done anything to make Sapnap believe otherwise. Foolish is also current an ally of Kinoko Kingdom.
It would be relatively easy for Foolish to create a strong allyship not only with Sapnap, but also with Kinoko Kingdom. Again, Foolish is already allies with Kinoko since he was the main builder of the territory. Foolish could easily establish a stronger relationship with the territory and citizens.
Dream wants Quackity. And Foolish has his people in Las Nevadas since he's a citizen of the territory. He's also Quackity's employee/ally.
This is important since Foolish made a deal with Dream. In exchange for Dream getting souls for Foolish, Foolish will get Quackity for Dream.
Why does Foolish needs souls? Because of Dream XD. Foolish has apparently abused his power of revival and he now owes XD a debt. Either in the souls of others or his own soul.
So how does this make Foolish the next traitor?
Well, he already has the blueprints for a Final Control Room. His secret room in the basement of The Summer Home. His "Drawing Room" where he's mapping out the connections with The Revive Book, The Book of Death, Sapnap, Dream, Dream XD, Quackity, Sam, and himself. His room isn't known to anyone else. He goes out of his way to keep it hidden from others. It's hectic and confusing. When Foolish has been seen in the room, he's been sort of scatter brained and confused.
If Foolish turns Quackity over to Dream, he will be betraying Las Nevadas. Period.
If Foolish kidnaps or kills Sapnap to get The Book of Death, he will be betraying the whole of Kinoko Kingdom. Period.
Foolish making a deal with Dream already puts him in the position of betraying most of the SMP since Dream is a public enemy #1.
And while I don't think he'll blow anything up, I think Foolish will start to lose his humanity(if he hasn't already started to lose it)
He's very obviously grown attached to his inability to die. To the point where he's willing to sacrifice anyone to keep that power. Right now, he feels guilty for wanting to kill others and feels guilty for attempting to kill others.(i.e. Sam Nook), but that could change. Foolish used to only make threats of harming others without showing any real intention of actually harming them. He's already gone as far as trying to kill Sam Nook and now he's made a deal with Dream to get souls just to keep his power. What if he begins to spiral because of how attached he is to his power?
And the lives that are taken will most likely be canon lives.
Foolish would not only have the strength and power of a literal God on his side(i.e. Dream XD), but he would most likely have Dream. Since Dream currently has power over Sam, Foolish would also have Sam on his side. He would have Sapnap, most likely by force. Whether or not he would have Punz is up for debate. And due to their idolization of Dream, Foolish might even have Eryn on his side(if Eryn decides to do lore).
Foolish would have a lot of power, strong backup, little or no humanity, and the power both The Revive Book and The Book of Death.
Foolish would be betraying all of Las Nevadas and Kinoko Kingdom as well as any allies of each territory and any of his own allies. Not to mention he'd be going against anyone who was against Dream.
All I'm saying is that Foolish is in the perfect position for a solid Traitor Arc.
Not to mention how this would bring Kinoko Kingdom and Las Nevadas together as allies. Nevermind the fact that if done right, we could get some Karlnapity angst.
We'd also definitely get Wilbur and Tommy teaming up against Dream. After how Wilbur reacted to hearing about Dream abusing and manipulating Tommy during the Exile, I have no doubt Wilbur would take any shot he could get at revenge. Maybe Phil would join to get revenge on Dream for what he did to Tommy, Wilbur, Techno, and Ranboo. Maybe even Techno would joins since he's paid his debt to Dream. He has no other reason than to fight alongside Phil, but it's possible.
But that's all up to the content creators and if they decide to keep doing lore. If they decide not to do lore, we won't pressure them!
At the very least, I just gave you guys a great foundation for some good fanfiction😎

when someone going through suicidal depression has their suicide planned, they often seem happier, more energetic, more alive.
c!wilbur’s certainly seemed cheerier, with a plan to follow through with. he’s laughing, he’s smiling, he’s hanging out with his friends. he’s felt alive for the first time and that feeling hasn’t died out. he’s so cheerful talking about his plan to go some ambiguous place else. he speaks with surprising confidence. he’s assured the final memories he’s making are good.
… hey, remember in november sixteenth, when c!wilbur made wilby jokes and spent the first part of the day hanging out with c!tommy? remember how he handed out blue and gifted c!niki fungi? he gave speeches. he seemed calm, happy. excited, confident. assuring the final memories he made were good. remember all that?
this is SUSPICIOUSLY familiar to the last time c!wilbur was planning suicide, i’m just saying

Well when you ask so nicely, how can I say no?
Y/n is a she/her but if anyone wants a rewrite with a different Y/n lemme know I’ll be happy to oblige.
Keep in mind this isn’t…great by any means. I’m so out of touch with writing rn
———————————¥—————————————
Y/n didn’t want to be here. She didn’t want to come back this way, or to be back at all now that they think about it.
But even after all the horrible things her family has done to them she still can’t help but love them
But she didn’t think she’d have to come back here like this.
She stands, towering over a hushed crowd as she makes her way through the crowd of people to the casket, a casket which now hold someone she grew up thinking was unkillable, immortal.
She felt the chilled wood under her hand, silent tears filling the corner of her eyes as she feels her blindfold dampening. Their hand slowly runs over the engraving on the box, slowly tracing each finger through the name, the name of a blood god.
Technoblade
She softly sighs as the sound of soft crunching snow fills her ears, a hand reaching out and tugging on her dress skirt. “Y/n?” Tommy, her baby brother. Y/n looked down at the direction of his voice and managed a small smiled. He said nothing as he hugged her, small sniffles as she places a hand on his head. The smell of cigarettes and ash flood your senses on the left. Her brothers.
This time the voice she hears makes her freeze, a lightning bolt of anger quickly courses through her body as she masks her face, turning to the man she once loved and her father.
“Y-Y/n what are you doing here? You said you’d never come back” Philza is overjoyed and saddened at the same time, his daughter, his beautiful daughter was standing in front of him after all this time. Foolish looks awestruck, like he’s seeing you for the first time all over again.
“I-It’s been years since we last saw you! You must stay for a while and catch up! I’m sure you’d love to hear about Techno’s last story-“ you slowly lean down to your fathers face cutting him off. Face as solid as the blindfold slips off your face, face cold as the words that left your heart shook the ground.
“I’m not here, for you.”
Foolish quickly stands in front of Phil, eyes narrowed but still soft at the sight of your damaged eyes. You looked right back, not seeing him but know he was there. He lifts a hand, fingers lightly dancing on your cheek. A sickly crack struck through the air as a green bolt appeared between the two of you, you smile feeling the energy off of it, knowing who threw it.
The bolt dissolved as a two pairs of arms wrap around your middle pulling you away and back to your brothers.
Philza and Foolish stutter as their hearts beats from their chest, agony as one watches what he could have go, and the other watches you pat Tommy on the head do a small fist-bump with Will, the loss of a daughter. Before disappearing into the air with XD.

New dsmp and origins Ranboo theory just dropped bitches
So you know those theories about them being the previous time traveler? And you know how in origins SMP the "do not read" book was shown and all that stuff? I like to think that maybe, just maybe, instead of where some people have been going that osmp!Ranboo is a descendant or some sort of ancestor for the DSMP lore, that maybe they are dsmp!Ranboo.
If we play with the idea that they're a time traveler who happens to forget everything, who's to say that's not Ranboo before they got all fucked up?
They're an enderman, but there's no real information about what the other half of them is. Then there's the inbetween and the other side, black and white. Karl gravitates to the other side, but what if Ranboo was the outcome of sticking to the path, of being loyal to the inbetween? What if the other half is a sort of mark or scar from the inbetween? Nonetheless why the other side seems so distressed and hellbent on getting Karl away from the inbetween?
I feel like that would be really interesting backstory for their "pick people, not sides" ideals, that it's something more of an impulse- a response or warning from the last shreds of who they were that's buried now, rather than just an opinion, because while they don't remember the things they saw through their travels in time, something does. It's something they're obviously passionate about, as their speech before doomsday proves.
Basically, I like to think that the inbetween and other side can corrupt people, I mean come on, look at those portals, they look invasive. Nonetheless there's the sheer fact that a previous time traveler had to be replaced because their memories got so messed up.
I feel like the whole enderwalk thing could be involved with that somewhere too (because I also like to think that they're just mistaking what it actually is), but I feel like there's still too much left unsaid to speculate about that yet.
My main question is how does the memory loss work? Does it act as a side effect of brain damage, or is it repression? Because you know the shit you'd see while looking at different outcomes in time would be pretty damn traumatizing, but also being thrown between time periods could cause stress on not just your brain but your whole body.
Anyways, just some food for thought :]

Presenting: You Didn’t Connect Shit — My Theory on How It’s All Coming Together
Featuring: three time travelers, a heartbroken god, and barely there but extremely plot-relevant GeorgeHD.
Brought to you by Tree Michael Multicolor. Sponsored by my shower and the void of my brain. Inspired by the Minecraft end poem.
DreamXD and GeorgeHD are the green and blue voices in the Minecraft end poem. They rule over a small pocket of the Universe together.
Something happens to GeorgeHD that kills him, or whatever the god-equivalent of dying is.
XD scrambles to find a way to bring him back. He invents resurrection, and in doing so tangles the connection between life and death, thus creating Limbo.
This cuts off a soul’s ability to move on to a merciful afterlife, as well as the ability of people like Phil and Kristin to easily move and make contact between realms.
So resurrection was completely unsuccessful for everyone involved. XD moves on to a new tactic. Surely leaving behind traces of his old project (*cough cough* the revive book) won’t have any consequences.
XD creates time travel in the hopes that he can save HD before he’s even killed. However, because of [continuity reason], he can’t travel himself, so he has to send someone else to do his bidding.
His first traveler is everyone’s favorite forgetful king, you know him, you love him, that’s right you guessed it, it’s…
Eret!
Eret travels only for a short time before [something else goes horribly wrong], causing Eret to seemingly disappear off the face of the earth and lose all of their memories. Thankfully, due to their ties to Herobrine, the amnesia stops there without the chronic memory loss seen in the other travelers.
Nevertheless, Eret finds herself compelled to preserve history, even if she can’t remember why.
XD isn’t giving up so quickly this time around, and decides to learn from his mistakes. He takes on a new mentee: the young prince of the End, Ranboo.
He uses a new method this time around, creating pocket dimensions to assist Ranboo in his travels. They’re… a bit uncanny, and produce an effect a bit opposite from intended, but it’s fine.
It is not fine. This time around is even more catastrophic than the last, and XD leaves Ranboo disfigured, stranded far from home, and with chronic memory loss.
Third time’s a charm. XD enlists Karl Jacobs as his third traveler. He takes a new new approach by starting Karl off small, giving him meaningless little missions here and there to get him used to traveling, before introducing himself or his greater objective.
He also indirectly tours Karl through the In Between, unaware that Ranboo had left warnings for successor in his panicked final days.
Around the same time, XD finds himself absorbed in something else entirely, a project that has him uncharacteristically unproductive: George. He just looks so similar, and he’s got the same damned name, XD just… he can’t help himself.
In some divinely fucked up way, XD feels as though this is a way of making it up to HD for not being able to save him.
Now it’s just a matter of seeing where Karl goes from here. Whether he succumbs to mental deterioration like the last two travelers, he finally completes DreamXD’s mission, or he does something entirely different… who knows!

What if c!Eret sees all the times c!Quackity visited c!Dream in prison and thinks they're allies
Idon't know how plausible this would be, but considering that c!Eret doesn't know the context in which all c!Quackity's waivers were signed. The possibility exists that c!Eret will come to the conclusion that c!Quackity was on c!Dream's side.
Because if you were to see someone visiting someone else in prison for several months straight, wouldn't the obvious assumption be that the person visiting was friends with the person in prison?
I think if that were to happen, c!Dream would just go with it. I think he'd see c!Eret's assumption that c!Quackity was his ally as an opportune way to get revenge. C!Dream did tell c!Sapnap and c!Tommy about c!Quackity torturing him, but c!Sapnap didn't believe him and if someone came out and c!Tommy doesn't believe c!Dream tells the truth about anything so he would be quick to believe that he was lying about the torture. So I think people would believe it. C!Sam at this point is too terrified of c!Dream to contradict anything he says. And I think that c!Foolish would stay out of the matter for the sake of not getting on c!Dream's bad side. C!Fundy, who probably knows how much c!Quackity hates c!Dream, even if he doesn't know about the torture, isn't living in the main SMP area anymore. So I think when presented with the evidence that c!Quackity visited c!Dream everyday, I think a lot of people would come to the same conclusion as c!Eret. Especially when you consider that c!Techno was the one to break c!Dream out, and the last time c!Techno and c!Quackity were seen in public together, was when they teamed up to take on the Eggpire. Plus it would explain to those who don't know that c!Techno was trapped in the prison how c!Techno knew to break c!Dream out. It would also explain to the server members why c!Quackity was no where to be seen during the break out.
Now I think c!Dream would see this as a prime opportunity for revenge. He knows just how dangerous even being seen as his ally is, which is why no one knows that c!Punk and ew!Ranboo are his allies. So if he plays his cards right, he could turn the entire server against c!Quackity for being his ally. Which c!Quackity would HATE. Because c!Punz is c!Dream's ally but everyone believes he's helping to hunt him down, if c!Punz "believes" that c!Quackity was c!Dream's ally, he would be able to convince c!Sapnap that his ex-fiancé was actually c!Dream's ally. It would make sense, after all c!Karl doesn't trust c!Quackity and surely there's a reason for that. So c!Punz could convince the server to hunt down c!Quackity for "being c!Dream's ally" and thus c!Dream would be able to get his revenge.

(pokes my head out from behind the door, visibly frothing at the mouth) hey kids. wanna see some. forbidden views of the final control room tunnels from august 2nd 2020

fun fact! because of these clips and some Thoughts @enby-chaos and i had, the terrible terrible conclusion was come to that the entirety of the lmanburg war for independence may have been staged.
after all, it's a bit odd that the dream team focused mainly on tnt and arrow attacks during the war despite their gear and fighting advantage, then proceeded to retreat from ponk's tower during the arrow fight--only for eret to pull the final control room on lmanburg.
however. chaos did some lovely math on an estimated distance of the fcr tunnels using these clips, and it's very likely that ponk's tower was right next to the dream team's fcr tunnel entrance. especially considering eret and the dteam hang out here mere minutes after being seen in the fcr tunnels.
the conclusion? this was planned from the start. the dream team intentionally retreated so they could get to their tunnels, cuing eret to lead lmanburg to the final control room. lmanburg was never meant to win the war.

This is just some random thought but I just remembered that c!Schlatt promised c!Quackity a six-figure salary at some point in the election arc... and this might have been mentioned a couple of times during the Manburg/Pogtopia era? But then later in Las Nevadas Episode 1 (March 16, 2021), c!Quackity said c!Schlatt didn’t even give him a minimum wage. So there are three scenarios that I can explain this with:
Inconsistency/retcon - the most meta reason, but cannot function as an in-universe reason (see the points below for this)
Manburg had a severe inflation crisis
Workplace exploitation and/or financial abuse
Of course this is /rp /dsmp but man....... the c!Quackity brainrot never stops

I haven't watched dream smp lore in a couple months, but what I have interpreted from social media is that Wilbur sailed to Utah (his birthplace) and Slimecicle was resurrected as an evil ball of goo to roast quackity (literally and figuratively) . I'll find out how far off I am when I get around to watching some vods, I just wanted my current theory to be known.
