okay a. you are so welcome for the ship name i shit you not i spent like ten minutes just being like WHAT DO I CALL THEM because i couldn't figure out a word that would go well with "doll" (as velvette's ship names tend to have in them)
ANYWAY!! HEADCANONS !! i had a post uuuh here (that took me so much longer to find than it should have) of some hcs but here are some more!! (if this took forever to get out i apologize my brain is working at 2 wpm rn and sometimes thinking of hcs is hard)
after they started dating, carmilla starts buying velvette clothes she sees that she thinks velvette will love
spoiler alert: every single piece she buys for vel is exactly her style
i like to imagine carmilla is pleasantly rich, even in comparison to the other overlords, because her weapons and parts and whatnot just sell super well
so she gets so much money to spoil velvette with and she UTILIZES it
velvette's love language i imagine is acts of service or getting gifts (she knows they love her when they get her stuff) and carmilla's is gift giving, which neither of them seemed to realize until velvette literally squealed in joy when carmilla bought her a jewellery set she'd been wanting for FOREVER
also since singing is apparently just a canon thing in the hazbin universe, i cannot for the life of me stop imagining pre-relationship velvette sneaking vox's camera footage from inside carmilla's bunker(?) (of which he got velvette, conveniently, to put there after the overlord meeting) onto her phone just to listen to carmilla sing over and over and over again.
vox and val HAVE walked into her room to see her with her phone sitting on her dresser, watching the same footage of carmilla singing out for love for the 138147985th time

not really unique but maybe some kind of actors/movie star au where max and charles are the two it boys of hollywood and therefore have always been pitted against each other as rivals. however, they’re casted together in a movie with an esteemed director that neither want to refuse. then they fall in love woopty doo !!
firstly it's not your job to make the concept unique! that's on me baby! so don't stress about it, and I love this idea!!
also... this one got so long haha
ok so to keep the past tension, for sure they were on like. a Disney channel show together growing up. pit against each other like Zendaya and Bella Thorne.
they were playing best friends and had amazing chemistry, but secretly couldn't stand each other. Max is definitely a repo baby, whereas Charles is so pretty he gets a lot of opportunities. they both resent each other because of it: Charles thinks Max gets everything because of his dad, whereas Max thinks Charles get everything because he's pretty.
eventually they have a big fight on set, and the show gets shut down because of it. maybe they get physical - maybe they just refuse to work with each other anymore
Max is the first one to rebuild his image - he works and works on as many movies as he can, trying to only be in Serious Dramas so people know he's a Real Actor
whereas Charles kind of disappears from acting for a while and instead turns to modelling
cut forward, they're both very successful in their fields. Max already has an Oscar, whereas Charles is getting brand deal after brand deal
and then, like, Scorsese or Greta Gerwig or somebody incredible goes to Charles and pitches a movie to him
some kind of really angsty, dramatic, gay love story set on the Italian coastline (heh heh, just because I think I'm funny, let's make the movie be based on Give Me That Fire lmao) (even though that was set in London) (lets make it GMTF but set in a restaurant on the Italian coastline lol)
anyway so Charles turns them down at first and says he doesn't act anymore, but Greta Gerwig is like, "No, I want you in this part, and you can have first pick of your co-star."
So Charles, "I want Max."
Max is tentative at first, doesn't want to work with Charles, but Gerwig says that Charles picked him and so Max ends up agreeing
it's super awkward between them at first, so they end up having to do some bonding exercises to try and ease the tension, and while they do it they apologise to each other for their behaviour as kids and congratulate each other on their successes
filming is much smoother from there, and Charles and Max end up admiring each other's skill
Charles appreciates how hard Max works, and how much more he achieved that his than his father, while Max is impressed with how good Charles still is even though he hasn't acted in years
they end up kind of being like ... "Hey, you're not too bad?" and spending a lot of time together outside of filming
maybe Charles spends a couple nights in Max's hotel room
they film that really intimate sex scene from GMTF and afterwards they're both so emotionally spent but also a little turned on from the tension and the kissing, even though its a Film Set and they're not actually that sexy to film
Max absolutely falls in love first - he realises what he's feeling for Charles, and pines hopelessly from a distance
meanwhile Charles is terrified of being Known and Knowing Somebody, and he can't let himself fall in love
but Max is so sweet and charming and the more time they spend together they more he realises just how wrong he's always been about Max
anyway, by the end of filming they're both hopelessly in love but neither have admitted it
they part ways, Charles going back to modelling, Max moving on to his next movie, and then they're reunited for the press tour
they end up confessing their feelings during the tour and having an intense affair, but at the end of it they decide to go their seperate ways because of how busy they both are ... though obviously neither of them actually want to seperate. they just think the other person does.
anyway the movie comes out and everybody loves it, they praise their acting and the range of emotions Charles showed and how well Max embodied this lonely chef and the chemistry the two of them had and how well it told the story of these people who had been in love and who's relationship had fallen apart, but then who had wanted to try again anyway despite it (yeah obvi it's a metaphor for Charles and Max's relationship in this universe too haha)
it ends up getting nominated for a bunch of Oscars, and Max gets nommed for best actor and Charles for best supporting actor
idk if Max wins but Charles definitely does
and at the after party they find each other and it's just inevitable, really, that they'd kiss again
anyway from there they'd basically just make it work, because they admit they're in love and want to give it a go, so they do
Max keeps acting, and Charles gets to choose between modelling and acting, whatever he wants. idk exactly how it would end aside from them being very happy!

50’s au where best friends billy and robin, who are very much in a lavender marriage, come into some money and move to a fancier neighbourhood meanwhile heather and steve, who are unhappily married and live in said neighbourhood find out there’s a couple moving in next door
so the day after billy and robin move in, heather goes over with a plate of cookies while steve’s at work and her, robin and billy just click straight away - billy meets steve later on when he gets home and billy’s sitting out on the porch with a drink but it’s them so obviously they immediately get off on the wrong foot
robin tells billy to sort his shit out because they can’t be making enemies when they’ve only just got here and they’ve got an act to keep up and heather tells steve to take the stick out his ass so billy and steve go out a few times for drinks to call a truce and become friends
in the meantime, robin and heather have been spending more and more time together and eventually robin sits billy down and is like ok i’ve gotta be honest, me and heather have been sleeping together and i think i’m in love with her - because robin and billy always agreed to be honest with one another and to not stay together if it was going to make them sad or if they found someone they really wanted to be with - and billy just stares at her and is like hey that’s really funny actually because i’ve been meaning to tell you that steve and i have been doing the exact same thing also i really like him .. yeah on second thought it might be love too, actually
and steve and heather talk to each other and they argue and cry and eventually they’re both like ok so what do we do now and they get billy and robin over and it’s super awkward for a moment before billy says something stupid and robin makes a joke and pulls heather to her for a hug
and billy smiles at them before turning to steve who’s looking stressed as hell and chewing on his thumb so he goes over and pulls steve’s hand away and tucks his hair behind his ear and it’s all very sad and gay
and then billy sort of pulls everyone out of their funk by spinning around and snapping his fingers and being like you know, we could all just .. stay as we are .. nothing has to change for us to get what we want and heather’s like ok how so billy walks over to the wall between their houses and knocks on it a few times before kicking it and steve’s like please don’t kick my wall but billy’s like no this wall could have a door built into it .. i could put a door between our houses

i don't know if this may be a kinda weird idea but i thought about it last night and it's been eating me alive, follow me on this one:
kyman as cats au. yes.
(sorry if it’s poorly written, english isn’t my first language)
so, kyle is a slim orange cat who's been living with the marshes since two weeks after he was born. they found him on the side of the road during a family trip, dirty and tiny and loud, and randy was outnumbered; he had zero chances of convincing stan, shelly and sharon to not keep the goddamn cat. and as time passed he successfully gained everyone's heart. they loved him. even sparky (rest in peace) and specially stan who considers him his super best friend because kyle is a very chill and nice cat.
and it has been just him in his territory for a while.
so it's just natural that he can't help but stare in confusion when shelly comes back home with a fluffy, fat brown cat with big brown eyes and a red collar, alleging that she saw him around all by his own for a few days now and decided to take the poor thing to their home. stan, who just loves animals in general, finds him adorable and reaches out to pet him. that motherfucker immediately starts to purr, just to bite stan’s hand seconds later and then act like it was all in good fun. and he doesn’t quite know what is it, but there's something about him that kyle just... doesn't like.
whatever, it doesn’t matter because then it happens. while eric (as printed on his collar) rubs on stan’s legs, he notices kyle for the first time. he immediately starts to approach him, ears and tail up communicating his curiosity. the family just stands there, wanting to see how this will turn out. first they smell each other, and then proceed to make a kind of staring contest before eric raises his paw and hits kyle on the face.
��oooh, i would fight back if i were you, buddy” says randy.
but they still let eric stay after posting pictures of him on social media in case there’s someone out there looking for him. the week goes by with loud meowing from both cats, and it’s a bit annoying but funny, because it’s like they’re arguing in their own little language all the time. kyle tries his best to avoid him: staying in stan’s room for more time than he’s used to, resting on the tallest step of the cat tower, going out of the house to hang out more often with the neighbor’s cat, but he still gets involved in these “arguments” that sometimes even become physical and end up with shelly and stan having to separate them.
and it certainly doesn’t help that eric spends 50% of his time sleeping in shelly’s bed (his favorite human of the four, because she’s always petting him, treating him like he deserves (yeah, like a king) and even bought a nice plate to feed him) and the other 50% trying to start fights with kyle. seriously, what’s wrong with him?
okay. they hate each other, right? kyle must be angry because this cat came out of nowhere and invaded his territory and even dared to try to start fights with him. that’s what it looks like to the whole family.
so it’s just natural that stan has to rub his eyes five times to confirm he’s not insane and seeing things when one night he goes to the kitchen to get a glass of water and catches both cats curled up together, incredibly close, on the couch.
“i think kyle is gay”, stan shares his thoughts with the rest of the family three days later during dinner, after constantly catching the two cats getting along and being… clingy? when apparently they thought no one else could see them.
“sparky was gay, what’s the possibility of our cat being gay too?”
stan doesn’t know, but he’s sure he’s right. of course he had to be a fucking orange cat. no one believes him, though, because the cats continue to be gay in secret.
and it’s all fine until one day a blond guy in an orange parka shows up to their house, claiming that eric is his cat that ran away two months ago.
shelly and stan look at each other, knowing damn well that they both started to love that rude cat and don’t want to give him back. but it doesn’t matter, they eventually would have to.
eric greets kenny with a loud purr and even louder meows, happy to see him again. shelly asks kenny to please take his plate and newly bought toys with him so eric can remember her, and then they leave.
the whole week after that is a torture between shelly talking about how much he misses eric and kyle meowing at the door, waiting for the brown cat to come back.
and on a tuesday, stan wakes up to find the two cats curled up on the couch again. oh my god.
he calls kenny, who comes to pick eric up and stan explains how their cats are… lovers? apparently. kenny laughs, but believes in his word and promises to take eric to visit his cat-boyfriend sometimes.
it’s not necessary, though, because eric keeps coming back on his own, but eventually learns the way back home with kenny so that’s not a problem anymore.
the only option the marshes have now is to accept their cat’s sexuality and eric’s presence too, whenever he shows up.
whether they like it or not, he’s part of the family now.

90% of these came to me before i went to sleep for my first day back at skl 😭😭 ill b posting some for every member but aj's the one i finished first 🌚
Aj -
1. Loves buying little gifts. He seems like he'd lowkey be scared of you leaving him so if you show interest in something he'd definitely have to get it for you. And if he sees a plushie he thinks you'd like? Best be making room on your bed for it. He'd get you a dumb t shirt or funny looking kids toy just because it reminded him of you. Or when he'd make you mad/upset he would go on to buy you tons of stuff to make up for it with a tiny real apology.
2. Lowkey a bad boyfriend. Something about Aj makes me think he isn't romantic with girls and doesn't know what the hell he's doing in the relationship aspect. He'd probably accidentally ghost you for a day because he spent it all playing games and when you call him super worried he'd be confused. Although he'd be great on valentines, he'd probably ask Chunkz a week before to see what he should do but then he'd end up winging it and having a great time with you.
3. You'd be his uber. He could be doing a challenge for a Beta squad video and call you to pick him up and just act like you were an uber to hide your relationship from his fans. Or if you were at his house he'd always ask you to take him to a shop to buy supplies for a video or just for food and stuff.
4. He'd LOVE your cooking or baking. Since he has said he doesn't know how to cook at all, if you did he would beg you to make food for him. If he finds out you were making something he'd come over to your home just to get some. He would try buy you all the ingredients if you said you didn't have any. And if he were mad at you and you made brownies or cookies or anything? He's over it and on his way to your house to get some food. "Babe, I'm sorry. I made brownies?" "I'll be there in 10."
5. Super protective. You're talking to another guy? Not without Aj wrapping himself around you. You wanna hangout with a guy by yourself? That's crazy talk. "Aj. He has a boyfriend!" "I'd tell you I were gay to get with you." He'd piss you off by talking to other girls if you ever made him mad on purpose. Literally so petty when it comes to jealousy, he'd always one up you but never take it far enough that it's cheating. If any guy ever hits on you, somebody would have to hold him back because he'd go feral.
6. It'd be a secret. He'd probably take a while to introduce you to his friends and family, taking extra long with his friends just incase. Definitely was scared you'd think his friends were better than him, but his fears died after the first couple times you met them. Plus he probably thought it was more fun as a secret and unsuccessfully tried to sneak out of the Beta house a couple times to see you, forgetting he's an adult and doesn't have to tell them what he's doing. He tried to be slick when texting you in front of his friends but they all knew he had a girlfriend probably the day he copped her.
7. Touchy. This man isn't touchy in kisses and hand holding way, this man is touchy in the way it's basically fucking. You've probably had people ask if you were okay since it looks like Aj was groping you in public. Always has a hand on your ass when you both are standing side by side, or has his hand a on your upper thigh. He'll never make you uncomfortable or touch you in public (unless you wanted to) but he just keeps his hands in places to show that the relationship is definitely more than friends between the both of you. It's either you let him hold your ass or the most touch you get is shoulders rubbing together.
8. Matching outfits. He'd think matching outfits was adorable and would love the idea of twinning with his girl. Even just matching hats or jewellery would make him happy. You could buy literal onesies and he'd wear it, despite him getting ganged up on by his friends. He definitely has screenshots of things he might wanna buy that could be matching for the both of you.
9. You cannot tell me this man is not a simp. He definitely doesn't act like it or really show it but he is down BAD. He'd act as if it was a highschool crush and couldn't be seen looking at you even if everyone already knew you both were dating. He probably even has another account on social media just to save edits and photos of the two of you without the posters knowing it was him.

I hope you are doing well. I appreciate your perspective and level-headed take on things and I'm writing to share my perspective because I think maybe people forget how hard/tricky it can be to be lgbtqi+ in a society that actively discriminates.
I'm an older ARMY and came out as queer around the time our boys were born. I live in the US, so I came out at a time when there were zero legal protections. Really it was a dramatically different world from how it is here now and, from what I observe, there are similarities to how Korea is currently. I also lived with a group of Koreans for several years in the 90s so got super familiar with Korean skinship and norms. Being older with this experience, I think I just see things a little differently.
When I first got into BTS, I noticed JK & JM having a different vibe than the others. Then, very early on, I came across GCF and I quite literally thought that GCF Tokyo was a coming out video. I thought JK & JM were together and out. My partner (not ARMY) watched it and said, "Aw, he loves him so much." Of course, I watched more and looked into it and realized that they are not out. It was only after watching original content and thinking they were a couple that I discovered shipping which was a little crazy when I look back on it. And, it's funny because the reasons I think they are a couple have little to do with their skinship that are so often shown as "proof" of their relationship. What makes them seem like a couple to me has more to do with their (or other members) tiny moments of panic that point to something more/hidden. I just have not picked up on little panic moments like that with any of the other members. I mean if "real couples" were based on skinship, we have a video of Jin literally sticking his hand through Tae's legs and grabbing his balls, but I don't think they are a couple. Seriously, if it were based on skinship alone, you'd think all of Bangtan are together. (Which is within the realm of possibility but seems very very unlikely to me.)
Anyway, like you, I think Jikook are a couple but I also think it is possible that I'm wrong and that they are just very close friends. If I'm wrong, no big deal. Regardless, one thing I am 100% sure of is that they love each other dearly either romantically or otherwise. I find delight in watching them interact because they are adorable.
On to my real point now! Military service is looming for them and this is a huge deal. It is quite literally dangerous to be queer and entering the South Korean military. If you are out or outed, you can be classified as having a mental disorder and can be dishonorably discharged. Even if you are not discharged, being queer will negatively effect your assignment in the military. Not to mention the risk of receiving all kinds of hate. If you are caught engaging in "homosexual acts" while in the military (on base) you can be jailed for 2 years. Basically, discrimination is written directly into the protocols of the SK military. So, our boys are closeted (assuming we are correct and they are not straight) and entering into this system soon.
In my view, it is 100% normal and expected for them to get more and more careful the closer they get to service. I feel like we are seeing this more with JM than JK. This is not surprising to me - JM fits the, "gay stereotype" way more than JK, so may feel more at risk. Plus, personality wise, he's more a rule follower and has clearly struggled more with self-acceptance. This military stuff may just be harder for him. I think it's hard for both of them, but maybe harder for JM.
I think it is very possible that they are intentionally toning things down and/or that they may be spending more time apart as a way to prepare. At any rate, I think we as outside observers need to remember that this is scary. The fear of consequences when you have no legal protections is hard to explain if you've never felt it. It's intense. They may lie to protect themselves and I would 100% understand that and support them in doing so. I also think there may be some push/pull happening. Like they may act kinda chilly to each other and then forget and act their normal lovey selves and then remember and act chill or stay away from each other when on camera. In things that have been filmed post their Las Vegas concerts, they have seemed a little more camera aware and careful to me than they have been in the years prior to then. All that seems normal to me given what they are facing right now.
Given all this, I think JM has been so brave with his queer coded stuff for Face. (As an aside - as an older queer for whom Maplethorp was an icon, him wearing those pants was AMAZING and meant so so much. Like I can't put into words how powerful that was.) And, JK has shown his love with those JM focused WeLives in a way that is so sweet. And, we've had these little interactions that really would not be happening if they were a couple who have now broken up. But, we have not really seen them together all that much. I think that's intentional and is really best for their safety.
So, yeah, sorry this got so long. I just hope folks think a little about how this current situation may play into what we see from jikook and that we recognize the very real possibility that this isn't a reflection on how they may be doing as a couple but a reflection on their current circumstances. We as a fandom need to remember always that we are not seeing the whole story and there is lots we don't know. These guys have been through a lot. They are strong (individually and with each other) and have a lot of support around them. Let's all send them our love and support, enjoy what they choose to share and remember that they may be holding back for very good reasons.

I also don't totally agree with everything you've said military wise, I'm not sure honestly where I Land there. Haven't been thinking too hard about it honestly. Which touch on alot you said here as well.

In no particular order:
GL:
Revolutionary Girl Utena - is including it on this list cheating since it's not primarily GL? I don't care, it's too good to not recommend. A teenage tomboy fencer gets 'engaged' to a mysterious girl by winning a duel, many more duels happen alongside symbolism, feminist messages and a really mature handling of topics like depression and abuse. REALLY dark though, but worth it! Deserves its place as one of the classic anime.
Bloom into you - incredible handling of internalised homophobia, first love, high school relationships both in the platonic and romantic sense and golden child syndrome. A heartwarming but occasionally heartwrenching story that felt very real. Bonus points for the author actually being a sapphic woman.
The Handmaiden - sapphic thriller from Korea set in the early 1900's! Dark but incredibly engaging, surprisingly happy and hopeful despite how much the girls have to suffer to get their happily ever after. The book it's based on, The Fingersmith, was also great!
GAP - Thailand's first GL series and got so popular there are now multiple other projects coming this & next year! The protagonist is a uni graduate hired in her idol's company only to discover the lady is both meaner and hotter than she thought. Lesbian crisis and full-on romcom shenanigans follow, though the series also comments on traditional family values in Thailand acting as an excuse for homophobia (the idol, Sam, is in an arranged engagement to a man as ordered by her grandma). Don't worry though, the show is mostly very fun and light & ends very very happily for the ladies.
Whisper Me a Love Song - look, as a former band kid I can't not mention the band lesbians manga. It's a highschool romance full of miscommunication and funny/cute shenanigans with occasional sadness to balance it all out. Very relaxing. It's getting an anime adaptation next year so looking forward to that!
Riddle Story of Devil - as an action series fan this was pretty incredible. A school full of assasins, everyone is sapphic and they're all badasses? High school me was obsessed and I still am. The manga is much better though, the anime is both way less gay and develops the characters much less due to the story being compressed into 12 episodes.
Legend of Yunqian - short fantasy drama from a small Chinese studio, it's about a regular young lady going back in time via a magic fan and falling for a magical warrior woman. Lovely and available on Youtube for free!

BL:
Heaven Official's Blessing - come on, it's incredible. Dark fantasy with immortal love that breaks even the most powerful curses, a complex and deeply human protagonist, a lot of emotional moments and incredible use of flashbacks to slowly reveal his backstory to the readers- what's not to love? Just a warning, when I say it's dark fantasy I'm not kidding. The series has funny and light moments but when shit gets real, it gets REAL.
No.6 - just like RGU isn't technically GL, this isn't technically BL but I am gonna talk about anyway, it's incredible. It's a dystopian sci-fi story about Shion, a teenager who discovers a government conspiracy and works to stop it alongside his new friend/love interest Nezumi. It treats the gay relationship super casually, there's no sexuality angst or anything, it was super refreshing! Read the novels though, the anime compressed the story a lot.
The Untamed/Mo Dao Zu Shi - love the intrigue, love the main romance, love the fantasy elements! My first Chinese series and one I hold dear for introducing me to the wuxia (Chinese fantasy) genre. Any version of the story is great but I'd recommend to start with the series and then read the books.
Kinnporsche - it's deeply insane and I love it for that. Everyone is gay, everyone commits crimes (they're in the mafia, so. Yeah) and it makes for a really entertaining show even if its darker elements aren't always super well handled.
Not me the series - Motorcycle gang of young anarchists against corruption! Very radical and critical of capitalism and the police system, engaging and fast paced. The director/showrunner is a trans activist/filmmaker so it's not like she doesn't know what she's talking about. It's very universal so I'd recommend it even to people who normally don't watch BL. One minus point for minor queerbaiting with 2 side characters, nothing major but it did bother me a bit + felt unnecessary in a series full of queer characters.
Cherry magic - queer office romance + mind reading! If that combination sounds interesting please do check it out, it was super cute. Bonus for very realistically human protags and an explicitly aroace side character.
Semantic error - opposites attract-type romance between an introverted, collected STEM prodigy and an extroverted art student partnered together for a project. The protagonist is autistic and written pretty well so I latched onto the show immediately, bonus points for side queer representation (bi character who's a super cool and pretty lady, love her).

The months pass and we settle in more and more until no-one looks at us funny and people actually talk to us. Joel’s softened up, becoming more of the man Tommy will tell me about whenever I visit him. I’ve been put on patrols with Tommy and Jesse but if I’m not on patrol I’m helping at the kennels and stables, having a strong bond with animals. Joel calls me the animal whisperer which always makes me laugh, smacking his arm lightly and telling him to shush even if my heart is full of love.
Ellie’s having the time of her life, currently in her rebellious phase and has moved into her own small place not too far away. It was a struggle to get Joel to agree but after hours of reasoning with him he agreed, especially with the idea we could do whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted without having to worry about how loud we were. He won’t admit it but I think that was the point that broke his resolve as we’ve had to be super quiet over the months. It’s hot but I want Joel to hear how much I’m enjoying it, instead his hand is usually over my mouth and his hips rocking into me slowly from behind as he silences my whines and moans. A pillow shoved between the gap of the headboard and wall to silence the bed and the duvet pulled over us just in case Ellie wants to come in without knocking which she has done before.
Ellie’s got a girlfriend but she’s not out to us yet. I know exactly who it is and knows she’s gay, Joel getting the hint too when I mentioned Ellie spending a lot of time with that girl, Cat, with a lot of sleepovers. Joel wanted to confront Ellie and tell her we both support her but again, I had to show him logic and we’d let her come to us as it’s Ellie. You don’t push Ellie, you let her come to you or she’ll close up and it’ll take months before she’s back to telling you everything. However, I have noticed that Ellie’s been eyeing Jesse’s on and off girlfriend - Dina - a lot and I have a bet with Joel how long it’ll take for her to admit her feelings to Dina as I really don’t like her with Cat. Cat seems to just be using her but I’m not going to broach that subject before Ellie does the whole ‘I’m gay’ admittance first.
Joel’s begun acting weird, he’s disappearing a lot and Tommy’s been taking me on more patrols or making me join me him and Maria at the Tipsy Bison in the evenings. It’s been happening for weeks and as much as Joel and I have been through together I’m getting anxious as I wouldn’t be surprised if now that we’re settled that he’s bored of me. I’m not Tess who he was probably having relations with before I came alone and I have a lot of baggage that I dumped on him all those months back. He’s no less physically with me but thinking about it, it’s usually me bent over a table or face down on the bed so he’s never looking at me. Maybe he’s picturing another woman. There are plenty of pretty women in Jackson who have been ogling him, maybe he gave into one of them and now he pictures her every time we have sex?
“What’s got you frowning, huh?” Tommy’s sliding into the booth next to me, a few minutes late to when he told me I had to be here. He’s pulling me into a side hug, letting me rest my head on his shoulder as he quickly worked out one of my romantic and non romantic love languages is physical contact so he makes a habit of hugging me or slinging his arm around my shoulder where he can.
“Joel’s acting weird.” I blurt out, keeping my face in his shirt as I don’t wanna see the reaction from him. It could tell all as Tommy’s not the best at keeping his features straight, meaning I’ll see my answer and I’m terrified of it being what I don’t want it to be.
“Yeah, that’s Joel for you.”
“Is he cheating on me?” I glance up in time to see Tommy choke on his beer, cognac eyes wide in surprise. He recovers, wiping away the spilt beer, setting the bottle on the table and turning his body so he’s facing me properly.
“You really think Joel would cheat on you?” He asks, catching my hands in his and rubbing my knuckles gently, “Do you know how much that man won’t shut up about you while on patrols? Maria even had to resort to snowballs to get him to shut the fuck up one time.”
The thought of Maria of all people, big; strong and straight faced Maria throwing a snowball at Joel just so he would stop rambling makes me giggle a little. Joel gets very into it when he’s talking about something he’s passionate about, hands flailing, years falling from him as he gets so excited and turns into a human firework about to go off. The reassurance quells my fears but not entirely, a tiny ember in the back of my mind still there and ready to turn into a whole forest fire if I don’t get the exact truth from Tommy.
“So why does he keep disappearing at odd hours?” I ask, widening my eyes and making the best puppy dog eyes at the younger brother as I can. He steels me with a glare, looking away but I grab his face and make him look at me until the resistance crumbles and he’s sighing when I add a quiet, “Pleaseeeee Tommyy…”
“He’s been in touch with Fireflies-“
“WHAT?!”
Tommy’s grabbing, forcing me back into my seat so he can finish talking but all I can think about is Ellie and how could Joel do this to me. I think I can hear my heart break at the thought of Joel going behind my back to turn in the girl we’ve come to raise as our daughter together. Maybe nothing Joel said about us being a family was real and he is just u-
“He’s looking for Scott and Shepherd to bring them to Jackson.”
“What?” It comes out quieter this time and I think I stop breathing. I must have misheard Tommy. There’s no way Joel would go that far out of his way to find my brothers I left in Boston. He’s going to get himself killed or Maria is gonna do it herself if she finds out he’s been on the radio. Maria is very adamant we stay off the radios to keep the settlement safe as she believes if no one knows it exists then no one will try take over which makes sense, “But… Maria… But…”
Tommy laughs softly, eyes soft as mine flick up to meet his, and I’m just leaning forwards until my forehead hits his chest and he’s wrapping his arms around my shoulders. I don’t know if I cry or not, feeling like I’m looking at myself from the side as my mind goes back to Scott and Shepherd living in such innocence back in Boston as they would be kept inside until the burnings were done with. I can barely feel Tommy’s arms around me, one rubbing my back soothingly as I grip his thigh to try and ground myself as there’s a chance I might see my brothers again. What would I tell them? How do I let them know about Elliott? Will they forgive me for up and leaving them that day? What-
“Shhhh, I can hear you thinking,” Tommy whispers, pressing a kiss to my forehead, “Remember you can’t tell Joel I told you any of this okay?”

I hear Joel moving around the bedroom, undressing as quietly as he can, thinking I’m asleep but I can’t sleep after what Tommy told me earlier. It’s not long before the duvet lifts and the bed dips with his weight, his strong arms wrapping around me and pulling me against his chest while his lips press a sweet kiss to my shoulder.
“Is it true?” I’m speaking quietly before I can stop myself and he freezes, lips still on my shoulder, just for a second before he’s laying his head back to the pillow, not speaking and waiting for me to continue. I roll over in his arms so we’re facing each other and he’s moving one of those calloused hands up to my cheek, thumb rubbing lovingly and honey eyes soft in the moonlight, “Is it true you’re looking for Scott and Shep?” He sighs defeated, letting his eyes slip shut and grumbling about how he’s gonna kick Tommy’s ass the next time he sees his younger brother, drawing a small laugh from me before I speak again, “I forced him to tell me, as you know I may have the best puppy dog eyes ever.”
There’s a rumble in his chest before his eyes are fluttering back open and he’s asking in a even quieter voice, “Are you upset?”
“No! God, no! I ummm… I was worried you were well... bored of me.” I admit and suddenly I’m being pushed onto my back, Joel hovering over me with eyes dark and full of a mixture of hurt and anger. He doesn’t let me speak, kissing the next word out of my mouth with a hunger I haven’t felt from him before. It’s breathtaking and I like it, matching his hunger and need as our lips smash together almost painfully, teeth clicking and tongues searching. His hands are tugging my panties to the side and I’m spreading my legs, gasping into his mouth when he circles my clit.
I go to tangle my hands in his hair but he grips my wrists and forces my hands back to the headboard, growling out, “You hands better stay here until I say,” And the power and possessiveness of it as my walls clenching around nothing as I do as he says, gripping onto the wooden headboard. “I love you too, I’m sorry I even began to think that.” I sigh lightly, scratching my fingers through his beard before running my thumb over his bottom lip before we’re leaning in for a kiss. It’s sweet and gentle, full of love and emotions neither of us know how to say, “Fuck what about Ellie?” I’m pulling back suddenly, releasing how fucking loud we were but Joel’s just chuckling.
“She’s at Dina’s with Jesse and Dina.” He reassures me and I’m sighing with relief, letting Joel pull me into his arms. We should really clean up the mess but when I feel his heart beneath my ear I can barely keep my eyes open, feeling myself being dragged to sleep and hearing the quietest whisper before I’m out.
“I plan on marrying you baby girl.”

2024 Watch List pt2
Mr Unlucky has no choice but to kiss - Very, very cute and silly without being slapstick. This gets a bit lost in its own soup and after about episode 4 it drags some. Also just a bizarre and somewhat anticlimactic ending. The leads are lovely though and they do work well together. 3/5 (22/2/24)
What did you eat yesterday S1 - Just perfect. Watching Shiro & Kenji grow together over the episodes is a treat. This is as warm and tender as it is brilliantly observed and funny. A true must watch. 5/5 (24/2/24)
The Sign - This just got lost in itself. It had moments of absolute perfection but there were, for me, too many threads it didn’t tie up. Personally I liked this show the most in its procedural show parts and less in its fantasy elements, where I feel it had the most work to do. Candy Colour Paradox - This isn’t the best acted thing and the chemistry is only so-so it also really starts to drag in places. (Inserting Izuka Kenta into a multiple episode arc was a choice because he’s incredible and it only serves to highlight the so-so of the leads.) Having said all these things it still has a charm and I still enjoyed watching it. Just perhaps not one I’ll be itching to rewatch or suggest to friends. 3/5 (28/2/24)

My Beautiful Man s1&2 - This is very Japanese and, on paper, should not have worked for me at all. In practice tho? I loved this. I understand the reasons this is controversial but I also think if you go into this without any of the disk horse you’ll just see it for what it is; a love story between two broken boys with piss poor communication skills and self esteem issues. 4/5 (5/3/24)
My Beautiful Man Eternal - This movie is the third part of the beautiful man series. I genuinely think you could skip s2 and go straight in for this. It delivers what I would have wanted, but was impossible to give in four episodes, from s2. We see Hira and Kiyoi’s growth as individuals and also together and we finish with them as equals, with Kiyoi speaking to his king Hira. Beautifully shot, excellently acted. In season four, Gob was at his lowest. Just at the end of his rope. Truly hopeless. He goes to Tony’s magic show, intending to take revenge, take his anger towards himself out on someone else to try and make himself feel better about his own life(which never works) but, when he goes to see Tony’s show and watch his revenge unfold, he’s found himself genuinely touched by the show. He sees himself in it. A gay man who was forced into the closet by society, the world, his parents, the father in particular. A son who was constantly compared to his brother and hated by his father. That’s him up on that stage. Or, rather, he wishes it could be him. He wishes he could be like Tony, out and proud; here, queer, and now over here.
The last time he saw Tony, he was in the same place he was; the same place Gob currently is. The self centered, straight, womanizing magician stuck in a persona in a magic scene rife with forget-me-nows. And, Gob sees this man who he’s been enthralled with for years and years and years and sees how he’s moved past that. He became a better person. He moved past his old life and seemed to be doing okay; great even. And, then that same man asks him to get a drink and he’s absolutely mesmerized. While it’s all under the guise of revenge, deep inside, he knows he doesn’t want to harm Tony. He wants to be better, for his sake and Tony’s.
But, the funny thing is is that Tony hadn’t actually changed. Sure, his persona was different but he was still the same guy he used to be. Still just like Gob, selfish, taking out his self hatred on others, a womanizer, etc. It was all an act manufactured by the gay mafia. But, he sees Gob among the crowd and, after inviting him to get a drink and talking, he realizes how much Gob has changed. I mean, not long ago, he witnessed the man evade his own wedding to a woman and now he’s here on gay night? He really discovered who he truly was…And, plus, he’s being super sweet and nice, not at all like the man he had had that brief interaction with all those years ago; the man like him.
And, as the night goes on, Tony can’t help but see himself in Gob. The once self centered, straight, womanizing magician stuck in a persona in magic scene rife with forget-me-nows. And, now Gob was seemingly trying to break through the persona, one that was certainly going to be hard to escape…While Tony’s persona actually involved being gay, he still had yet to truly admit to himself that the fact that he also liked men was not just a part of that persona. It was real. And, he sees Gob, who was previously so tangled in the thralls of internalized homophobia and comp het and he was now spending his night with him on a date. What progress he had made! Maybe he could be just like Gob, out and proud. Actually here, queer and now over here.
And, both of them caught up in wanting to be better for the other, a man they had fallen for so completely, are kinder to the other person than they’d ever been to anyone else in their entire lives. Because, they can’t bear to lose each other. And, they can’t let the other know that maybe they aren’t as content and at peace with themselves as they say they are. So, they both don’t even do anything regarding their initial plans of sabotage, trickery and scheming because that’s not what you do to someone you care about. And, soon enough, they’re planning to have ga-I mean, normal sex on Cinco. And, they’re both happy. Genuinely happy. They’ve found someone who understands them. Who they understand. And, they may feel awful and shameful and terrible inside at the thought of someone finding out they’re really gay, at the thought of it being confirmed to themselves that they’re gay, but maybe it’ll all be okay if they get to do it with the other by their side.
Which is why finding out the other was “lying” was so heartbreaking. So devastating. They’d allowed themselves to really open up to this person and had become hopeful that maybe this was the start of their lives finally, truly looking up only for the man they loved to turn out to be straight? Not that they themselves weren’t straight or liked him in that way because they’re definitely straight. They’re not gay. They never were, they aren’t and they never will be. And, they can’t believe they let themselves fall into the other’s trap.
Of course, as we know, they sleep together and realize that they really are gay. There’s no denying that they like men. They’ve been on this journey together and well, now, it’s coming to an end. Their shame too great to bear, they both plan to take a forget-me-now. But, this is where their paths diverge. Tony takes the pill and Gob doesn’t, Gob having given his pill to his brother instead, Michael having caught Tony coming out of the bedroom Gob emerged from earlier and putting two and two together. Gob remembers the night that confirmed to them both that their feelings were real. That they loved each other. That they were gay. But, Tony doesn’t. Tony was sent right back to his state of denial.
They’re no longer purely same. They’re at different stages of realization. Off by a hair. But, that doesn’t change things for Gob. It’s discouraging, sure, but he doesn’t give up on what seems like a hopeless situation. The man he loves ghosts him, is running away, and clearly afraid of acknowledging his feelings, afraid that, if he gets too close, he might get scared “again” and leave Gob more lost than ever. But, Gob doesn’t give up. He’s in the position to take action here and, instead of avoiding confrontation and difficult situations, he does what he can to try and get Tony to open up, feel comfortable. He’s kind. He’s patient. He lets Tony catch up with him at his own pace. They’re different in the same way. Same in a different way. But, even when they aren’t, they’re willing to reach out to the other to bring them right back up alongside them. It isn’t about getting something from the other. It isn’t about sending one back or sending themself ahead. It’s about getting somewhere together. And, if the other is in need, they stick through it together and help them trudge through the difficult terrain. They’re there waiting for them at the finish line, cheering them on as the other tentatively approaches a place in life they never thought they would or even could.

At the moment my personal interpretation of the s3 finale is that Mike is terribly scared of losing the people he loves and here he's starting to realize how heartbroken he's feeling because both El and Will are moving and leaving him behind and he's terrified of their dynamic changing and of losing them both...
I think for the kiss and the I love you he's simply shocked
by the realization that El did hear what he said in the cabin and he's experiencing a sort of freezing response to that knowledge... because he wasn't anticipating her saying something like that to him!
I also think they were super awkward with each other because they didn't know where they stood in their relationship, they probably had not talked about it because they just... Don't talk about stuff often... I mean, they are 14 so I kinda get it because they are just kids playing at relationships and it is super awkward and overwhelming approaching these conversations when you're this young!
But still, even if they are awkward 14 yo it seems to me that in that scene Mike is feeling flustered because he does like her and wants to be cool in her eyes... but we can already see their relationships problems in s4 from that scene alone because Mike is acting like he is mentally telling himself he's an idiot after this thing he says to her and this particular exchange between them
So we can already see how he feels deeply insecure in this relationship because he thinks that to look cool to El and to impress her he has to be more cool than he is, he has to change his character and become super funny and dress better etc etc, he does want to impress her because he does like her and he feels inferior to her, he puts her on a pedestal...
The reason he pretends he doesn't remember what he said was because he didn't want to tell her anymore... because of what Mike told us in s4 himself, he was feeling scared that if he was open with his feelings this would have just made it more difficult for him and more painful when she eventually would look at him and look at who he is and realize he is just a nerd and he's nothing special and she shouldn't like him... Because in his mind it doesn't make sense that El really likes him or even that she loves him... That is why he's shocked!

In this scene I think the narrative was focusing on Mike and Will because it was starting out the byler plot line officially and showing us that Mike does feel differently towards Will, he feels more deeply for him.. and he will miss him more than how you miss someone that is only a friend...
...
This is not a realisation that he's gay or queer to me, this is utter heartbreak... It's like he wants to cry here but he's feeling so empty and numb that he can't even do that.
He's just wishing he could to back so that he doesn't lose him from his life...
this whole scene focusing on Mike and then Will in the car and then Mike again, is showing us Mike's deepest fear of things changing and him losing the people he loves... and how losing Will in particular is breaking him down... (because deep down he loves him)
I think this was showing us that Mike is beginning to feel different towards Will and he's afraid of things changing between them and in general...
That's why in s4 he tries to hard to go back to being best friends and why he wants to fix his relationship with El even if he knows it's not how it was before that summer and he started to realize he is changing and feeling weird towards Will...
He wants to stick to the status quo with Will as his best friend and El as his girlfriend...
but the dynamic is changing he is slowly realizing him and El don't work well in s4 and he wasn't sure of wanting to tell El the I love you, he was avoiding it because of the reason he told us... and that is the truth, but that's not the WHOLE truth deep down... even if him as a character right now is confused about what he feels and believes he is in love with her
The whole truth is that he wasn't sure anymore before Will made his speech in the van and made him believe El knows him like that and loves him like he wants her to love him, like she sees him as the heart of the group too and needs him like he feels he needs her... (A LIE BECAUSE THOSE ARE WILLS'S FEELINGS)
So he wasn't sure before that, he was confused and he was thinking about it in his mind and trying to just find the courage to tell her the ily but like he said:
"I just don't believe it."
He didn't believe it was safe to tell El and be vulnerable with her... Who made him believe it was? Will using his own feelings!
Also the rule for Mike in his head is that he shouldn't lie about things this much important... So if he doesn't feel 100% secure about a thing he WILL avoid it... Until he does feel secure
He also at the same time is feeling super weird and awkward with Will in s4 because he already has feelings for him and attraction to him but he doesn't realize it yet consciously why he feels like this... He is acting jealous and feeling weird things that make him look at Will when he's not looking and then panic in the desert lmao
Hope this is clear!! It's a mix of very deep and complicated feelings Mike has for both Will and El...
with El he does like her and he did have infatuation for her but the relationship just doesn't work because of his insecurities and because they are incompatible
with Will he is slowly beginning to realize he does have feelings for him but he's pushing back because he is terrified of change and it's super hard admitting to yourself that you do see your best friend in a different way and you like him in a non straight way especially in the 80s
But all of this is a tangled mess in Mike's head for now, he's not 100% aware of why he does what he does... He's thinking about it and learning new things about himself this season and he's 14 so it's super normal that he doesn't know how he feels for sure yet
Feelings are a mess and when you're bi I think it's even more difficult because he probably thinks well I do like women so I can't like Will like that because I'm not gay...
So yeah, that's it for me!!

they're referring to the eremites. couldn't leave sumeru without one last sprinkle of racism lmao.. fr love how this was one of the first things i saw in fontaine. "see something, say something." STFU!!!
the fontaine VAs fucking STEPPED UP!! like why is lyney's VA so good.. the decision to open the quest with three of the most off-putting and unnerving characters so far.. lyney truly sounds deceiving, it really felt like you couldn't trust him. and then lynette is just ominous
and then furina.. miss focalors, the star of the mf show. whatever they're paying the VA is not enough because she's incredible. bravado, insecurity, instability, fear, hunger.. all the emotions are portrayed so well
fuck them for this one.. THERES SO MUCH TO UNPACK. i mean, supposedly teyvat has flooded before, this would not be the first. they're so unsubtle with the noah's ark and biblical themes. AND ARE WE GONNA TALK ABOUT THE TEAR?? THE LYNEY PARALLEL?? WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN

fr tho i loved the fact that we had a real prelude for this region.. i think the excuse to make something a little more isolated and establishing in it's plot is already super beneficial for whats to come. we got a lot more character exposition, and even the time to install these cool archon quest specific mechanics. i loved solving everything, it was all SO fun but they also got to have these really emotional beats, i feel this is some of their best pacing yet.
imo the last half of sumeru really helped hoyoverse find their stride, fontaine so far has similar storytelling energy to the whole heist bit of sumeru.
the best thing however might've been the SCORE??? they went out of their league with this one, it's the most fitting, noticable and influential instrumental work they've done in an quest imo

A Boss and a Babe Ep 10 Stray Thoughts
Last week we experienced probably our choppiest episode yet. It’s a real bummer, because I continue to root for New Siwaj, but the final act conflicts always cause confusion. Gun and Cher were outed at work, but that was quickly squashed by Gun’s mom. Cher found out that another colleague had planted the evidence about Thyme stealing the game and decided to take the fall for it to protect her job…for reasons that just don’t track for me. Gun and Cher broke up as a result and both were very sad about it. Gun got drunk at a bar and so the bar called Cher who was his most active contact, and the two were able to reconcile for the second time in the episode. Now, Thoop has been arrested. At the very least, we had a Gay Boy Cuddle Pile.

Thoop, are you really mad that the police didn’t believe you? Where’s the shut the fuck up video?
Real shit, it is sometimes useful to have a Super Gay like Gun in your queer circle for when we have problems that only money can solve. Sometimes folks like Gun can keep a program running quietly for years.
I completely get Tub and Jack. Three and Zo would get tiresome after a while.
The gamer boys care a lot about each other, and are careful about how they talk to each other. It’s refreshing.
I do still love Gun. This man understands commitment and showing up when it’s important.
Gun pulled out his stern voice when Cher pushed too far with the old jokes. Surprisingly funny to see Cher retreat.
So if Gun has known about Cher taking the blame all this time, what the hell was most of the last episode for? I hate when they do all this testing nonsense and then waive it off.
I like that these two have good apologies. I just hope that we don’t immediately contrive another conflict five minutes from now.
I feel like this one guy plays a cop in every GMMTV show.
I knew this was going to eventually be the reveal about what happened to Tian, but it’s still upsetting and gross.
Gun is solid. Maybe I’m being influenced by how much I’m enjoying Jeng on Step by Step, but I do like having characters who can manage a crisis and don’t overreact to someone’s emotional outbursts at them.
Jack is correct. Thoop being arrested for possession is a big deal.
And of course someone saw them sitting outside of a police station all night. Now the mom is demanding they break up AGAIN.
Was one of them watching Star in My Mind before Cher showed up to tell them the news? Joong is paused on YouTube in the background.
I enjoy the parallel from earlier with Cher showing up at Gun’s place this time.
Oh hell yeah! It’s 2023 and we all verse now!
There’s a lot of threads active in this show. I don’t necessarily dislike them, but the timing isn’t really satisfying. I also feel like the mole plot was kind of a letdown.

Silly little Weilin headcanons because I'd die for the dumb rock boyfriends:
Zaofu is a pretty liberal place, so Wei is openly gay. In my head he had a big crush on Bolin since Bolin first came to Zaofu.
Bolin was a closeted bisexual who thought it was very normal straight guy friend behaviour to wanna passionately kiss the homies on the lips with tongue.
Wei can dance and him and Wing are part of their mother's dance troupe. He likes to teach Bolin different dances and they have a lot of fun doing that.
Bolin likes to be chivalrous and act gentlemanly like opening doors and kissing the back of Wei's hand. Wei will roll his eyes and call him cheesy but secretly enjoy it
They LOVE to work out together
Both being super competitive, they love to spar and race and stuff.
Bolin talks a lot and likes to ramble. Wei likes to sit and listen.
Wei has ridiculously big arsenal of 'that's hot' jokes and innuendos for when Bolin lavabends
Big on physical affection. If they're in the same room they're almost always cuddling or holding hands or smth. Definitely that annoying couple that is super touchy feely with one another.
LITTLE SPOON BOLIN. Wei just hangs off him like a backpack. It's awkward, but Bolin enjoys being held and Wei enjoys holding Bolin. His arm does fall asleep almost every day, because Bolin is HEAVY.
Wei is one of those annoying health nut people. He wakes up at the ass crack of dawn to go jogging. Bolin is not a fan of this arrangement. He complains and tries to keep Wei in bed and get him to cuddle.
Wei prefers to eat more healthy food, but wil occasionally steal sweets and the like from Bolin's plate. Bolin has learnt to take extra of the stuff he knows Wei likes.
Pabu likes to steal Wei's shiny jewellery and hoard it. Wei lets Bolin choose which jewellery he should wear for the day. Bolin takes this job very seriously.
Bolin is a good cook. Wei can only cook if given very clear and slow step by step instructions. The only reason he's even allowed in the kitchen is because metalbending makes things go faster. [If you can't use your metalbender boyfriend as a blender what's even the point of anything]
Despite Wei's ineptitude, they love cooking toghether. Though often cooking toghether is just codeword for making out on top of the counter while the food burns.
Bolin's a plant dad. He has a lot of plants and gives them funny names. He started collecting them after Wei once gave him a potted sunflower. No one had gotten Bolin flowers before and maybe he cried a little.
Wei collects crystals and cool rocks. Idk what else to say. His mom collects meteorites. Bolin will often give him cool little pieces of magma rock or other cool lookkng rocks he found or stuff like that.
I feel they'd both want to get married. They would both get an engagement ring for the other without the other knowing.
Bolin Beifong has a very nice ring to it, don't it?
Between Bolin knowing what it's like to be an orphan and Wei having grown up in a big family, I can see them adopting a lot of kids. Though I can also imagine Wei being hesitant to have kids, due to the whole Baatar Jr and Kuvira thing.
