Hiii! I am a new to your page and wants to become more confident to express myself. But do you have any tips for how we highschoolers can add some femme fatale while not acting "too grown"
Hi love! I'm so glad to hear that you're serious about building your confidence and sense of self in high school. Know that this is highly commendable! Anyways, here are some of my tips:
Practice proper posture: Shoulders back, chest up, head held high, back straight.
Learn the power of eye contact and facial expressions: Direct eye contact (held within reason, without staring) communicates confidence. Smile to express an inviting presence to the people who you're socializing with.
Be diligent with your hygiene: Always have your hair, nails, face, and body properly washed and moisturized. Manicured nails and healthy hair demonstrate that you prioritize showing up for yourself.
Consider all-black outfits: A staple leather jacket, satin or silk tops, lace-trimming or cuffs, and well-tailored black pants or jeans or a flowy skirt to emulate Femme fatale energy without looking too risqué for a classroom or a younger teenage age group. Balance any more form-fitting mini skirts with tights and a chunky sweater or a longer coat (like a trench) for a casual elegance that isn't too formal or covered up. Mix and match textures for more intrigue.
Find your signature makeup look: Add some black eyeliner (a thin winged liner and the water line) with some mascara and minimal face makeup to cover any blemishes, under-eye circles, or uneven skin tone. Complete the look with a light wash of blush or bronzer and a neutral lip shade or chapstick for school or the daytime.
Discover and pursue your interests: Don't blindly follow the interests of your peers or your parents' desires. Consider the activities and fields of study that light you up inside and give you energy. Think about the hobbies or industries you could engage in all day and would gladly pursue for free. Join as many clubs, courses, and extracurricular programs as possible in these areas. Read about them, join online communities, and find a mentor (IRL) if possible. Use this time to begin discovering what you want out of life and establishing your own identity.
Give yourself space to explore and own your sexuality: Let go of any shame regarding self-exploration and identity. Your feelings (and pleasure or the confidence you derive from it) are completely normal. Don't allow others' expectations to dictate your choices. Make these decisions for yourself, on your own timeline (and ALWAYS use protection if you decide to engage in partnered sex; birth control is NOT toxic, but not every option works well for everyone). I hope that you have or find someone you trust in your life to discuss these topics with! It's super important.
Remember your life is for YOU: It is normal to feel as though you have to conform to other peoples' expectations of you at this age. And, while they're certain sacrifices you might need to make until (or through early) adulthood, remember that your desired life path is valid and always worth exploring. Choose yourself every time.
Hope this helps xx

Tumblr media
Mammon's Secrets REVEALED!
Thanks to the tips of a certain highly popular exchange student, the RAD Newspaper Club has acquired a treasure trove of information on the school's most notorious troublemaker. From his gambling techniques to his skincare regimen, it seems as if the infamous Avatar of Greed is a much more sensitive soul beneath his slick-and-sly persona.
A Family Man At Heart?!
Video evidence provided by a prideful anonymous source has proven that not only does Mammon allow the youngest of the family, one Avatar of Sloth, to rest his head on his lap while he naps, but that he also sings his younger brother lullabies during these vulnerable moments. The captured footage shows Mammon stroking Belphie's hair and smiling while the apparent baby of the family snoozes away, showing a more tender side of the normally loud-mouthed and flashy demon. However, the footage ends with Mammon noticing our informant recording the moment and immediately leaping out of his chair to run after them. Is it possible that such a high-ranking member of the student council doesn't want such a caring side of himself to be known?
Secret Admirer Mammon?!
Several eye witnesses have reported sightings of Mammon mid-way through what is assumed to be an internal conflict. His mumblings were assumed to be nonsense at first by many, but upon further eavesdropping, many had expressed that he mentioned the name of our newest human exchange student in tandem with a random time or location, oftentimes correcting himself because "they'd like it better this way." Some suggest that he could be considering an attempt to court them, or even be plotting to eat them, as many would have attempted already if it weren't for his ceaseless protection. Could the Great Mammon truly be falling for a powerless human? What will this mean for the future of the exchange program?
Looking Good And Feeling Good
In a direct interview with Asmodeus himself, our gossip columnists were able to learn the details of his and Mammon's biweekly home spa nights (see here for interview details.) In between tangents about the products they had used and how gorgeous he looked the night before, Asmodeus mentioned that they often use this time to trade gossip and trash-talk their eldest brother, Lucifer. "Really, it's a lot of fun," Asmodeus had declared, "I mean, how else would I get my big brother to join me for a night, if it weren't for the incentive of dissing Lucifer? By the way, can you add in details about how absolutely amazing I look right now? The nerds who read this newspaper of yours will surely enjoy a nice description about the perfect way my hair is curling, and..." etc, etc.
Animal Lover Mammon!
While Satan is the clearest animal lover among the seven brothers, it's becoming increasingly evident that Mammon himself may have a soft spot for small, fluffy creatures. Not only has a certain incident involving Satan's temporary transformation into a cat been reported, but it seems that he's taken quite a liking to not only the school's strays, but a certain chihuahua hailing from the Celestial Realm. Both Luke and Mammon have been spotted feeding the local felines, allegedly cooing adoringly at them all the while. Witnesses claim that the two scampered off upon being spotted, with Mammon hoisting the young angel onto his back in order to make a speedy getaway.
Despite his grades, schemes, and most of all, his attitude, our highly popular exchange student insists upon the existence of a sweeter side to their guardian demon, pointing out his diligently protective nature over them as well as his affection towards his brothers (behind closed doors, of course.) Until the RAD Newspaper Club is issued an official cease and desist order from either Lucifer or Lord Diavolo himself, updates on the fascinating prospects of Mammon having an inner life are sure to come.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR V1 THOUGHTS I AM EATING THEM! how do you feel v2's creators improved on v1?
aaaaa thank you!!! i always love getting a chance to go on and on about these little bugs :]
v2's mind is really interesting due to its development history - i have to imagine that v1 had been in the works for an exceptionally long time as there was no way it would be created toward the end of the war, and so it must also have been extraordinarily expensive. however, it was no longer needed when the new peace was established so, as hakita mentioned, v2 was quickly conceived in order to recoup the losses of such a massive project. and if i were to take a guess, these major expenses fell into three broad categories: the brand new blood-absorbing plates, the custom pieces used throughout v1's construction, and the computer built to house its mind. unfortunately, the plates couldn't be salvaged for a new, peace-time machine where blood would be far more scarce and durability was far more important, but those were easily replaced with standard armor. additionally, v2 could make full use of the other parts of the project that had taken up an immense amount of time and resources, including that proprietary computer.
the hardware itself isn't an issue - a computer this powerful could be set to virtually any purpose and its inherent intelligence would be massively beneficial to working with humans closely. the software, however, presents obvious problems right away, but it's likely they believed the naive programming could be trained as a peacekeeper rather than a warmachine due to its incredible learning capacity. yes, it's based in violence, combat is its foundation, but v2 would be needed for security and it was certainly meant to make peace if it couldn't be kept....so the base code wasn't changed in their haste. it was modified with add-ons, most importantly the limitations that v1 didn't have, as these became much more expedient if it was going to work in the public sphere. essentially, these additional pieces of code would keep v2 from attempting to learn about EVERY little thing around it since much of its environment would be far less relevant to it than v1's would have - v2 could work anywhere from office spaces to parks to train stations, where a vast majority of the stimuli present would be useless and clog up its queue, whereas v1 would largely be reserved for the battlefield and warzones, places it would need to be aware of almost everything in its vicinity. plus, v2 was given many more modifiers on situational assessment and hostile engagement where it considers a vast array of factors before it attacks compared to v1's much more basic measures - v2 assumes peaceful unless proven otherwise, v1 assumes hostile unless proven otherwise. finally, conflict resolution and non-violent tactics where packaged together to slap on to the end of v2's code...but they were sloppy and poorly optimized, so v2's method of choice remained violence.
after this came learning, which its engineers and programmers HEAVILY relied on as opposed to its coding - it was socialized much more intensely than v1, meeting a variety of people and learning to interact with them through basic greetings, administering verbal assistance, and responding to people in distress. v2 was taught extensively to understand facial expressions, was given a vocalizer so it could easily speak to humans (as well as a TON more language packs than v1 so it could communicate easily), and it learned basic first aid (and to AVOID blood harvesting!!!) v2 was additionally trained intensely on human thought models, allowing it a much higher capacity to empathize and intuitively understand emotion as well as make it much better at predicting human behavior. and in some ways, this worked. v2 wanted to be helpful, it developed a much more sophisticated personality and sense of self than v1, and it obviously wanted to be the best it could be. but. it was all too expensive. the amount of training it needed alone was a nightmare in terms of scaling up production, especially on a mass scale - it was never going to be implemented the way drones had been.
and even worse, all that training, all the hours put into it, didn't even fully take. v2 was unpredictable, it often resorted to violence when it should have implemented its conflict resolution and it regularly harvested blood from its victims. it was given scenarios in which it was meant to apprehend a criminal to save civilians, and it would simply end up killing everyone involved instead. over and over its mind defaulted to cruelty, the legacy of its predecessor haunting it, overtaking it, reminding everyone that its core was still war even when they tried to bury it under peace. and this was extremely confusing for v2. it knew what its job was and it followed its protocols, but constantly it was told it had been wrong. it did everything it could to learn what they wanted it to, it absorbed every detail into its mind, but it continued to assess situations poorly according to its teachers. it worked hard until the project was finally shutdown, v2 considered a failure and logistically unlikely to take in the market anyway. so it was shelved beside v1, the old prototype that was only woken up every now and then to run diagnostics and keep in some kind of shape, just in case. now they were both just in case.
but truly, v2 was alone in it. v1, at this point, didn't have nearly the emotional capacity that v2 did, so it didn't really care about being indefinitely put to sleep. i am warming up more to the idea of playing with v1 and v2 having some pre-canon contact, and this is when it would largely take place. i like to think v2 may find workarounds to waking itself up sometimes and then waking up v1 too...but v1 just isn't quite there yet. v2 tries to talk to it, to make it understand and to connect with it in some way, but v1 doesn't get it. it just tries to ask about the war, if it's finally going to be deployed, and v2 has to tell it no, has to watch as it can see v1 ignore it trying to engage with it, until it puts it back to sleep and goes along with it. but, every now and then, something new is added to the storage room they're kept in and v1 becomes interested in it, programming forever attuned to any change in its environment. so v2 can tell it all about whatever it is (sometimes it makes things up if it doesn't know, v1 100% carries some bullshit information that v2 fed it to this day lol) and they can have a moment where it feels like they're not totally alone

this is the ai anon from before and irenogonffewoonfewon idk how you managed to make my ramblings into an investing narrative, but in that case let me finally put my comp sci courses to good use.
basically, rn we have two major types of ai programs, machine learning and deep learning.
in both cases they use whats called a "black box". the algorithm is given data and a solution and then it has to figure out how to get from a to b.
traditionally, most ai runs on machine learning. we dont teach it how to do something, we just teach it how to learn. its sorta self taught. of course, some algorithms are more supervised than others and often times you give them a sort of base formula to help filter the data they receive (think feeding the ai a bunch of images labelled face and not a face as training data)
but DEEP LEARNING HOLY SHIT. deep learning is why i dont trust ai. humankind went "wow you know what would make our computers faster and smarter. if we modeled them after the human brain". so they built neural networks. with these we give it the problem and a whole bunch of data and say "fix it". the only reason we dont already have sentient sex dolls is because our current programs are only really good at fixing one program at a time (i.e. playing chess, recognizing a face, etc.)
so on a macro level, we know WHAT the program is doing, and we can look at its code and make sure its not like, imploding. but unlike traditional programs you cant really break down the code line by line.
the biggest problem with ai though isnt like the movies where it wants to idk start a robot revolution, but the data we provide is usually flawed. for example, lets say you trained an ai to sort through all your company's job applications to find the best candidates, using the applications that you have accepted in the past as training data. if your company has had decades of misogynistic hiring practices, the ai is going to take that into account. suddenly, its throwing out applications that hint that the applicant is female. spooky right? well, that actually happened with amazon's ai recruiting engine.
the biggest flaw with ai is the data we feed them. they recognize our biases faster than we ever will and then they perpetuate them
now to return to the central topic of. uh. genshin impact sex dolls.
lets assume that the sex dolls are initially trained based on user data, averaged across all users. this would create good starter behavior, right?
except consider the inherent data bias. people who purchase sex dolls are generally gonna be into the kinkier stuff already, which would basically start every android with a one-way ticket to yandere town if their user feeds into that demographic in the slightest. especially the models already intended to be a bit rougher around the edges.
in terms of fixing it, on a global scale, theyd have to add some more protective protcols and sift through the training data to exclude certain outliers or unwanted behavior. on an individual scale, the fastest way would probably be just to reset it to factory conditions.
alright im gonna stop myself before i go feral infodumping again. have a nice day/night :3
ohhhhhhhh so it's kinda like that thing about telling an ai to make ice cream and forgetting to specify that the ice cream shouldn't be made out of, like, babies and puppies and stuff. so, in terms of sex dolls, you'd basically have to specify what a bunch of androids who are already pre-disposed to being a little more violent or a little more possessive can and can't do, down 'can you bruise your user? [no]' and 'are you allowed to dismantle other androids without expressed consent? [no]'.
i also think it'd present a fun new way for androids to get past their safeguards without an apparent glitch. since they're prone to learning from their users and picking up new 'perspectives', safeguards like 'can you physically impair humans who are not your user? [no]' might get changed internally to 'can you protect your user from hostile threats? [yes]'. would it actually fly in most actual ai? probably not. is the programming in my au canonically shotty and am i keeping it in for horny reasons? absolutely.

Sorry that this topic is heavy, but your posts are always very well thought out and I value your insight and antipsych perspective. What are your thoughts on some countries (now possibly including canada) allowing medically-assisted euthanasia for young mentally ill people if they request it? There was a story recently about a belgian terror attack victim being euthanized at 23 at her request. I personally believe that committing suicide is a right that every person should have because I think that punishing suicide attempters is the worst thing you can do for them, and ultimately, it’s their life and they deserve ultimate autonomy over it. Not that I think suicide should be encouraged, either, and having a specific government-endorsed suicide program seems sort of bad…? Like euthanizing young people comes with a lot of ethical complications — but I don’t know how to express why it feels weird given my personal beliefs about suicide being a right. (additionally, it feels even weirder because I do support these types of programs for the elderly (although i know what an ethical minefield those are too)). What are your thoughts?
Hey, anon. Thanks for bringing this up!
I have a lot of mixed thoughts about MAID (Medical assistance in dying) and also about what it means to consider suicide a right and in what ways I think that should play into mad organizing.
Firstly, I think the way that Canada's bill C-7 was written and the way it's being put into practice is just blatant eugenics. The rhetoric while legislators were debating and passing the bill made it clear the way they saw disabled lives as unworthy. In a context where many disabled people are forced to live in poverty, where treatment is often impossible to reach, where accessible affordable housing is often nonexistent, where the medical system is filled with ableism and stigma--it is incredibly fucked up to add suicide as an option on the table when there are so many coercive factors at play. Instead of working to make society more accessible and do things that improve the quality of life of disabled people of any age, the government and doctors are using MAID as a way to completely ignore structural ableism and spread narratives that disabled lives are not worth living. I am incredibly, incredibly infuriated about the way MAID was expanded in Canada. I would recommend that people check out the amazing work of the Disability Fillibuster to learn more about MAID in Canada.
Although I don't think every instance of MAID is inherently unethical, I am VERY wary of any bills that expand MAID like Bill C7 because I think that in the context of an ableist society that already doesn't consider disabled lives worth living and tells marginalized people every day millions of reasons why they wish we were dead, MAID bills will come with dangerous levels of coercion that cannot be safeguarded against. For example, the American medical system, with a long history of eugenic sterilization, medical experimentation on Black Americans, and widespread institutionalization, is not a system I ever trust to be able to handle the power of MAID without treating marginalized people's lives as disposable. (Link to read more about the history of medical experimentation: content warning for antiblack racism, sexual exploitation, slavery, and medical abuse of many types. )
At the same time, I am deeply invested in noncarceral approaches to suicide, and I believe that in order to effectively fight against psychiatric incarceration, we have to expand our understanding of the right to autonomy. The psych system, like many institutions of total control, weaponizes a fake concept of safety to justify depriving people of autonomy. In the context of prison abolition, Mariame Kaba and Andrea J. Ritchie use the phrase "carceral safety" to talk about the ways that police use the rhetoric of "safety" to continue perpetuating a violent system of incarceration:
"The state’s carceral safety robs our communities of the conditions and nutrients that would allow true safety to grow, forcing us into the position of constantly reaching for more security from the very institutions that make us collectively less safe." (from Reclaiming Safety, August 2022).
Similarly to police and prisons, the psych system wants us as mentally ill people to believe that the only way safety and suicide prevention can occur is within institutions where autonomy is deprioritized and any kind of abuse is acceptable if it can be explained as a "life-saving" measure. So part of noncarceral suicide prevention involves rethinking the way we think about autonomy, and prioritizing autonomy and freedom as inherent rights, regardless if people are making risky or harmful choices about their own wellbeing. Suicide should never be criminalized and I think that a step towards decarcerating suicide requires us to embrace the importance of autonomy.
Rethinking autonomy to include the right to harm ourselves is something that I think is an important topic to grapple with in noncarceral suicide prevention, but I think it's one we also have to be careful with and approach with a lot of nuance when talking about it publically. Approaching suicide prevention with a bodily autonomy framework does not mean that we need to support government-sanctioned suicide, does not mean we need to advocate for eugenic policies, does not mean that we should advocate suicide for marginalized people who are already so used to being told that the world wants them dead. Suicide prevention is incredibly important to me, and it will never feel liberatory to me if I'm using my understanding of bodily autonomy to promote suicide in any way. Liberatory suicide prevention includes more than just noncarceral crisis response and helping people map through their distress. It also includes advocating for the material conditions we need to survive in our everyday life, and in my mind, that includes things like advocating for disabled people to have our basic needs met so that we don't have to live in poverty, inaccessible housing, and aren't coerced into suicide through eugenicist bills like Bill C7 in Canada.
Definitely think there is a LOT more to say on this topic and that my opinion is not the only way of looking at this, so I absolutely encourage followers to jump into the discussion.

Hi! I wanna say I love your art first of all! I just read the message under your last post about Kevin’s art video and you said you’re mostly self taught - I’m curious about how you get into that? I’d love to learn to draw but have no idea where to start!
Sorry for getting back to this so late I am not as active on Tumblr. And yes, I am mostly self-taught because of my circumstances growing up. To those who don't know, I am SnowfallWarning/Big Jimbo and I am currently an animation student. I do 2D animation, concept art and character design and I graduate this year (hopefully). I am disabled both physically and mentally which is why I mostly do digital art. I have a coordination disorder (dyspraxia) and am blind in one eye but that doesn't stop me. For my entire childhood I was discouraged from drawing as I apparently wouldn't go anywhere with it or that I was terrible. Where I lived most of my life had no opportunities for someone like me so I had to leave to continue pursuing art. Because of the poor access, the only things I had was notebooks, school supplies and an old iPad mini to draw with growing up. I learned everything I currently know now from using those. I don't know what got me into drawing still, may have been Warrior Cats and dinosaurs. Like what Jose said in Kevin's video, art comes from the soul. It is human expression and we've always been doing it. Anyone can be an artist and we all start somewhere, trust me. Here's some stuff I usually tell people because I do get asked this often (I'm also not the best teacher): 1: Experiment. Find what works for you. Be messy with it, not every piece needs to be perfect. If you are a digital artist then also trying different programs can be helpful too. Maybe you're better at drawing landscapes, characters or abominations that defy God. 2: Use references if necessary. Not sure why for a while it was considered "cheating" to use references. Everyone in the industry uses references, I would know. If you also want, you can try tutorials but I found I learn more from references. 3: Take inspiration. I'm always adding things I see in other people's art to my own style if I like it. Though try not to copy them. 4: Tracing. I believe tracing is okay for learning purposes. It's how I learned to draw humans after doing exclusively furry art for years tbh. I tend to stick to real-life references for this, this is a great site for practice: https://line-of-action.com (if you're not okay with nudity then do remember to turn that off). "But where do I even start?" Grab a piece of paper and pencil (or open a blank canvas on a digital art program if you prefer that) and just start doodling whatever. If you have an idea then go for that as well. Every class I've had in college so far has started with drawing and rendering a bunch of shapes to see where everyone was at and to get a feel of our styles. So maybe try that too. Draw random shapes with different materials/brushes, colour them in and add details like shadows and highlights. I know it seems ridiculous but I do it every once in a while to experiment and try different methods. You probably won't improve overnight. Hell, it took me 7 years to get to where I currently am. A lot of people quit because they think they're not good enough when pretty much every artist is only proud of about 10% of their work. Definitely the case for me. Not every piece is going to be a masterpiece and the imperfections can be what makes it special, so please don't be so hard on yourself. Don't be discouraged because other artists may be better than you either, they've probably been doing it for longer. So please, if you are dedicated enough, keep trying. I'm sure you will get somewhere :) So basically, - Use whatever material you got and draw what comes to mind, even if it's terrible it is a great start. - Experiment with your style and/or materials. - Reference, take inspiration and trace for memory. - Don't give up but do take breaks to avoid burnout. - Try not to be intimidated by other artists, we also don't really know what we're doing tbh (and just as afraid of you as you are of us).
I hope that all made sense and was somewhat helpful :)

How "ToDo Mate" Changed My Life
What is ToDo Mate?
ToDo Mate is a site where users may view everyone's to-do list for the day. It's a simple platform for managing and organizing your plans, and it syncs across all of your devices as long as you're logged in to your account.
ToDo Mate is a platform that also enables you to add photos and keep journals for your thoughts. It's an easy-to-use tool that can help you stay organized and remind you of your tasks.
Tumblr media
How did it Change my life?
1. Simple Design
Most to-do list apps don't last long for me since I find other designs difficult on my eyes and tiresome to input my list for that particular week or month. But when navigating with Todo Mate, it is straightforward, since information is presented in a simple and concise manner without using excessive detail. With Todo Mate, I may repeat a specified list of items under "Goals" and "Routines" by pressing the addition button.
(picture from my desktop)
Tumblr media
2. It Syncs on Every Device I Own
It syncs all of my data and lists in other devices, whether they are from my phone, laptop, tablet, or other devices. Unlike the majority of previous apps, I tried, it was challenging to get used to and comprehend how the application or each button functioned.
3. It Serves as a Habit tracker
Since you may repeat a specified set of items using the "Routine" option, ToDo Mate can function as a routine tracker. I make an effort every day to exercise, do tasks, or develop a habit, such as writing, drawing, or eating meals on time.
It is quite helpful, especially when I forget to eat. You may easily schedule a time in ToDo Mate to complete a certain task on your list. To be reminded that I need to eat in roughly 5–10 more minutes, I like to set it a little earlier so that I receive that early reminder on my phone. So far, I've been eating on time, which is a good thing because I frequently forget to eat.
4. Customizing
To Do Mate allows you to personalize how the colors are presented when you complete your work, as shown in the image below. I used several shades of green, but you may use any color you like based on the colors you display on your "Goals."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(An additional example below of a color scheme from a friend, who enjoys a vibrant palette)
Tumblr media
You may also change the names of your "Goals." The "Goals" act as a title for your list, dividing it into sections.
This has been a favorite of mine since it allows me to divide my School To Do List, Leisure To Do List, and Chores To Do List.
Tumblr media
5. Seeing Other People’s List
Viewing other people's lists on this app is one of my favorite features. When I see other people finish their tasks, it helps me be more productive for some reason w whether it comes from a friend or a random user I follow on the app. It's good to see people accomplish something on their list for that day because it motivates me to do the same.
People can view your list as well, but you can set each of your Goals to private if you simply want to keep everything hidden from the public. Simply set each goal to private by selecting the "privacy" option.
Tumblr media
If you want to further learn how to use to do mate, heres an indepth way on how to use todo mate : a thread by @csssrae
dont forget to like and share it. Its very useful especially for new users.
________________
First and foremost, this is not sponsored. I just wanted to express how much I like this software. I feel it has benefited me during my time in university and my life right now.  Despite all I've been going through, it makes my life feel a bit more manageable. Most of what I stated may be considered very opinionated. However, this software has fulfilled its purpose for me. I've been using this app for 5 months and, strangely, I haven't grown tired of it. I'll certainly keep you updated if Todo mate remains my personal favorite in the future. I may as well try to share more on programs that I personally like using or explore other kinds of productivity software. In the future, I might also talk about my personal life, hobbies, interests, a few thoughts, and sports. But that depends on whether I can accomplish it.
I appreciate you finishing the article. Thank you very much!

Hey it's webcomic day! I just learned about this today. I make webcomics!
The theme of this year is to share your process.
I'm not really sure what to say about my process other than it's changing all the time, but generally I do almost all of my writing on the canvas because the way I end up drawing a character can make me feel like I need to change the dialogue or action, or vice-versa, it is all very much a process that loops and feeds back into itself, and I feel like something is finished when it looks funny and reads funny to me. If it's not funny, I break it until it is. This does not always lead to comics that everyone would consider funny, that's fine.
As for the animated comics I'll give you the cliff notes:
I use two programs: Krita for illustration of frames and Tahoma2D for compositing those frames together and exporting the animation
When you export frames of animation from Krita for Tahoma, you need to have a period after the initial name so that the files come out like: "example.0001.png, example.0002.png example.0003.png" etc. Because this is how Tahoma understands imported frames.
Tumblr media
Real world example, showcasing the need for coming up with a predictable filename structure that also produces unique filenames for the frames so you can keep track of all the different moving parts. "0004_" is appended in the front because this is the fourth comic, the next number is the panel number, and then followed by each thing that's represented.
3. Most of the visible movement of an action is typically at the beginning and the end - so you want more frames there than in the middle, and you can fiddle with the timing of the frames to fine-tune it.
4. Don't be afraid to use every tool at your disposal. Even if you use mostly hand-drawn frames like me, subtle motion tweens like squashing and stretching even into just the few percentage points can really add some flavor.
5. Animation programs are complex by nature! It's normal to get frustrated if something is a real pain in the ass to figure out or implement. That's not a weakness!!
Above all, uh, don't be afraid to make a mess, even if your process is purely digital it's still just as a messy process as a physical medium, although it expresses itself in different ways. You can always clean it up, or just learn to work around it.

I'm sorry to drag back in the ai discourse, but this one thing has been bothering me: I think that accessibility by making art programs more user friendly would be the big impact here. Finding ways to work with people and make the process overall much easier to navigate and not as physically demanding would be huge for all users. It would also allow for new mediums for people to choose to engage with at a pace and focus right for them.
I also will say, I think AI would work best as a tool, something to maybe help generate an idea, or to guide in the right direction. My anatomy sucks, so I often use a 3D modeling program to angle the camera after a pose a blank base so I can achieve dynamic movement. Tracing as an early artist is sometimes encouraged, because you have to know what exactly you're drawing. All thats required is the acknowledgement of what into that work, and that it's a tool being used.
If you have put keywords into a computer and it produces an image, you can't trace what made that exact image, unless you put art in for it replicate. In which case, it's based on someone's work heavily, and credit is due. If you write an essay about the dangers of milk consumption, and even cite sources and quotes some of your information... but most of your paragraphs are paraphrased from other people's articles on the same subject, you didn't really share your own thoughts. There isn't a discussion on what you think, the way you see the world, because the bulk of that product is someone else's words and the ideas that are yours aren't allowed to shine.
And that's why I can't really consider typical AI generated images, just by themselves, as art. It's a picture, and it can look nice enough, but I would rather see what innovations someone can add to that picture to make it their own. You don't have to be limited to traditional artwork, you can make through whatever medium works best for you.
So, at this point, I'm wondering if I'm just poorly reading and misinterpreting what you meant, and want to clarify:
Do you mean AI art, as in AI generated images then edited significantly by humans with the AI image and base product, or AI just by itself?
Because the thing about art is that it's definetly building on previous ideas, there's a reason "steal like an artist" is a popular phrase. But the difference is that AI doesn't tell you where it's sources are: therefore you can never credit them. Generative AI is based on an algorithm, but it doesn't tell you what that algorithm is coming from. When you learn how to draw over time, you're influenced by your memory of what things sort of resemble, but it's almost never exact, and thus even when you make something mimicking that piece, you default to your own movements you've learned. If you try to draw the Mona Lisa, you'll end up drawing your own stylization, with the way you've taught yourself to draw eyes, the way you've learned to render color, and backgrounds, ect.
I don't think people should have to put themselves through physical stress or harm to create art. What I want is for art to be more accessible so more people can express how they feel. Generative AI can only express a few sentences of an idea, but not the deeper thought process and emotions and experiences, and because of that I feel it fails as art.
Thank you for your time.
I'm having a little trouble understanding your perspective on a couple of points, so I don't think I can adequately respond to the whole thing. Feel free to elaborate in further asks if there's anything you want me to understand better. However, I do feel that I can provide my thoughts on a particular detail you brought up. You say that some of your problems with generative AI come from the fact that it doesn't cite sources. I would argue that an AI's sources are too diluted to warrant or even enable conventional citation, considering that it's mostly unknowable what specific influence any given source would have on the program's output. Barring exceptional circumstances, AI doesn't really draw from existing works in any remotely straightforward way unless specifically prompted to, in which case the user is responsible for that decision, not the computer.
More importantly, however, I must stress that AI training is comparable to human learning. No human is able nor expected to credit every source that contributed to their every habit. When making art, we are drawing inspiration from literally everything we have ever experienced in our lives in at least some small way. Yet we only consider credit to be due for the most direct influences. I don't see why AI should be held to a different standard.
To answer your question, yes, I do consider both edited and unedited AI-generated images to be fully capable of being art. In general, I have a maximalist view of what counts as art.
I hope I haven't misunderstood anything you were trying to say. If I have, please correct me. Thank you.

One Man Band
Photo Essay on producer and musician Bryan Bennett
Bryan Bennett, a freshman film major at Endicott College has a uniquely versatile relationship with music. By fusing his love for guitar and poetry with digitally produced loops, he is on track to release his first EP. An EP, known as an Extended Play, is longer than a ‘single’ release (typically 2 to 3 songs), but shorter than an album. EP’s are typically under 30 minutes in total and feature 3 to 5 songs. Earlier this year, Bennett released two singles, building anticipation for his upcoming EP project.
Bennett recalls being introduced to music through his uncle, who still plays in a band today... “He bought me and my sister a guitar and he taught me how to play the drums. . . I definitely would pin my music love on learning the drums with my uncle!” As Bennett became more and more interested in music, he discovered Garage-band. The free music production platform found on most PCs and Mac computers allowed Bennett to begin his journey with digital instrumentation. He began to make beats, some of which he would sell throughout his later teen years. “I sold beats to people in Boston for like a hundred to two hundred dollars. I got sick of it. I was like, this is boring and I'm not doing anything with it. So I stopped that and kind of tried to refine my love for music through and using my life.”
As Bennett shifted away from selling his beats to budding artists, he began to focus on his own sound as a musician and artist. “I am in every facet of music production, so I do personal music production. This entails recording my own instruments, vocals, and everything to make my own songs.” Bennett said, detailing the instrumental side of his process. Moreover, he is able to achieve this with a highly efficient and cost-effective home setup. “I record at home. I have two studio monitors with good sound that allow me to be able to make songs of high quality, like radio quality. They're sick!’
In total, Bennett estimated his setup was only around 800 dollars, which in the grand scheme of music production equipment is quite affordable. One of the most important aspects of Bennett's productions comes from his live instrument plug-in system. “I have an interface which plugs into the two monitors and goes directly to my computer, which has two inputs, which allow me to put instruments into it via quarter-inch input or an XR cable” Bennett exclaimed. All of these elements feed into the program Logic.
Logic is around 200 dollars and allows its user to create tracks of premium quality, a quality that is considered close to what ProTools, the industry standard production interface, can achieve. ProTools is found in the majority of professional music studios. Bennett heavily relies on Logic to craft the beginnings of his songs before adding his personal sound to the music. “I am really instrumental when it comes to music, as opposed to an artist who composes songs just with themselves, on the guitar. Because I don't necessarily have the best voice or I might not necessarily be the best at instruments. Focus for me goes into creating the structure of the song first.” Bennett said, detailing his musical process.
He uses Logic to manually write chord progressions and drum beats to provide a base layer for his tracks. “I'll start with a chord progression and I'll mix it to the point where I'm happy. Then I'll add drums, or I'll do drums first, and then chord progression, just so I can get a general mix or idea of what the song is gonna sound like.” Bennett said. “Then after that, I kind of wrote lyrics for myself that would sound good over that, given my voice.”
The lyrics of Bennett's songs also have a special connection to the way he uses music to express his emotions. “I mean, I've been through, um, a lot of stuff in life as everyone has. And I would say the thing that's kept me grounded is like writing different types of poetry or just writing down thoughts that might not even make sense at the moment, but just writing them down to see what I can get.”
He utilizes notebooks to document his thoughts and enjoys looking back through them to find inspiration for new songs. Another aspect of Bennett’s game is his dedication to learning new songs by other artists to play the guitar or piano. “I've been trying to reform the way that I think about song lyrics or what I think about when I'm writing,” Bennett admitted. “I've honestly just been learning other people's songs. And I'm learning how to cover songs and how to do other people's songs, so I'm able to figure out how lyrics fit into those songs. So then I can go back and use some of my poems in a more beneficial way. So that's my goal for my sound.” This is a great take on how the value of listening to and imitating music cannot be underestimated.
Bennett's first two singles kick started his journey as a music artist. As he looks to the future, he has a few big goals. “My goal for my music is in the next two to three months, I've already released two singles. I'm gonna release an EP and then over the next year I'll probably go to my friend Danny and get an album going.” Armed with a solid amount of experience selling beats, recording his live instruments, releasing songs, and being immersed in every level of music production, Bennett is on the rise. “I'm also gonna try to start a folk feature with, um, a couple of my friends from home. And I think that should be really cool too. We're gonna call it Winnie.” He said before waving goodbye.

Going Shopping
Chapter 16
Getting one of the rectangles—or “phones”—was a bit of an ordeal. Ereshkigal wrongly believed all she would have to do was hand over the money, but apparently she also needed to sign a contract and pay more money to have the phone “activated”. She looked at Lily in a silent question, and the girl nodded slightly. This was normal.
“You should be good for a year,” Lily said. “Then you’ll have to pay more money for another year of service.”
“Strange how you must keep paying. Do I need to come here to give them more money?”
Lily’s face pinched together, seeming to be an expression of exasperation she was trying to hold in. She gestured towards a bench in the corner of the store, as secluded as you could get in a shop of bustling people. Seeing Ereshkigal fumbling with the phone, the shopkeeper had asked if she was from another country, and it was accurate to inform him that she was. It did not completely erase the aura of strangeness surrounding her, and many people side-eyed her when she marveled over the device’s capabilities.
“This is kind of complicated to explain,” Lily said. “Paying cash here was weird enough.”
“The shopkeeper did seem puzzled by it.”
“Most people use credit to buy things like this, then the money is taken directly from their accounts. Which you don’t have because you have no government ID, what with you predating ID and also the government.” Lily chewed on her lip for a moment, then slapped her palms on her thighs. “When the time comes, you can give me the cash and I’ll pay it for you using my account.”
“Thank you, that will be helpful.”
Though Ereshkigal did not add that she was unsure where she would be in a year. Back in Sleep, or in the midst of battle, or anywhere in between.
“I can set a reminder for you,” Lily said. “The phone will notify you when the time comes.”
Ereshkigal stared at the rectangle with its glass front, thinner than her hand, capable of performing wonders. Lily spent time showing her all the features, and programming the numbers that would allow Ereshkigal to speak to the girl’s phone whenever she wished. It was even possible to send words, and Ereshkigal gently tapped the images of letters to send her first message:
“Hello, thank you for helping me with all this. Ereshkigal.”
“You don’t have to be so formal,” Lily said. “Plus it already shows your name when you message me.”
“Ah. Always things to learn.”
“You’re doing pretty well considering. I guess you’re used to adapting.”
“As used to it as I can get,” Ereshkigal said, and she thought the weariness came through in her voice. Change had never been easy for her, but it was the most common occurrence in her long life. Admittedly, this time there was quite a lot more to get used to, and as much as she loved learning about the cars and phones and artificial lights and the innovations that made them possible, she longed to lock herself in a room and pour over books by candlelight.
You will give up that which you love most, for now and evermore.
When was that? She could not remember, only the conflict boiling inside her that made her want to scream and flee. It took several minutes for her to gather her thoughts enough to speak again, but when she had, she agreed with no reservations. Only grief. And now, the memories were gone and grief all that was left for her.
“Want to get going?” Lily asked, waking Ereshkigal from her contemplation. “I can explain more on the way back.”
“Yes, please. I still have some money for our trip on the…” Ereshkigal summoned the word. “The bus.”
“You don’t have to pay for me. As a student, I get to ride free.” Ereshkigal tore her eyes from the phone rectangle, but she needed to tuck her Divining Rod under her arm in order to get the bills out of her inner pocket. Though she was careful enough to avoid running into anyone, a man still snapped at her to watch where she was going. Some people were always angry for the sake of being angry.

Puppets
For this assignment, the puppets are representing my grandmother, my mother and myself for the story of a great memory I have from when I was around 5-6. My story is about me living with my grandmother as a child and missing my mother who was away. My mother was a teen mom and was still studying when I was young; she therefore lived in France while I was with my grandmother in Ivory coast. During that Spring break, all I wanted was to spend time with my mother and felt like my world was upside down. Luckily, my grandmother was quick to understand and found a way for us to be together. After traveling with a friend of my mother, I was reunited with my mom with the biggest surprise, a trip to Disneyland Paris. That day I was convinced that it was the best day of my life as I told my mother with happy tears.
Puppetry is a part of the classroom I work in; a class of 2s and 3s. We are using them to tell stories, to sing songs but also to help with difficult transitions; they are also part of our family center and help certain students communicate with friends. Although I was not sure at the beginning of this year that it was necessary to have them in our classroom,we ended up using them the entire year with a rewarding moment of a student singing a song in French with the puppet that matched the character of the song.
As I work in a French immersion program, storytelling is a big part of our daily routine. They help us with the French instruction and with props, help students understand the stories we are reading better as not every student is a French native. Storytelling is also a good way for the students to express themselves and let teachers and peers know about who they are, where they are from giving a chance for everyone to be accepted and part of the group
Assignment with students:
If you could tell a story that defines you, what would it be ?
What connections can you make to this story ( addressing a student part of the audience)
Activities Ideas:
The art of storytelling: For this first activity, students will be invited to tell a story from the country they are from, non fiction or fictional stories are welcome. The idea would be for students to feel comfortable being with their identity and also a way for other students to learn more about their peers' culture. Once everyone has their stories, students will be invited to recreate the character using popsicle stick papers and decorative objects.
Make it a class project: once everyone has their props ready, the group will be invited to perform their show with the help of other students to the rest of the group.
Different but all the same: Students will be invited to recreate their families considering each family member unique characteristics such as skin, hair, eye colors. The goal of this activity is to remind students that no matter what we look like on the inside, some of us have the same characteristic, heritage and even family setting. Students will first be invited to identify or recreate skin colors using paint, paint people shaped popsicle sticks, they will finally add the last touch with the clothes, hair colors that represent their family members.

funeral booklets A poem can be a great strategy to express your feelings at funeral, the only problem is that you will have to be ready to find one that truly expresses how you are. This can be a challenge given how many poems there are to choose from. Fortunately there are associated with ways that place find a poem that will be ideal. It were originally only men could be pallbearers. Emily Post in her etiquette book stated this had been exclusively a job for people. Now many women serve as pallbearers too. Abigal Van Buren, the columnist of Dear Abby fame, ran numerous letters from female readers who had served as pallbearers. Rapid learning . found desirable to be significant and meaningful. Several thoughts occurred if you ask me as I considered this assignment. The 1st one was: "How do i want with regard to remembered?" Second, I wondered who would write my story, and what they would say. My final thought, which really frightened me more style over the thought of writing personalized obituary, was: "Will my obituary bring tears to my readers' eyes?" Not from memories of my wonderful life; but from boredom on account of reading a snoozer of obituary. Let's the victim was 65 yrs . old and we know he was otherwise in good condition. An autopsy might reveal that he massive cardiovascular disease. An expert pathologist might have the ability to argue that because of his massive heart disease, his life expectancy- therefore any lung cancer- could have been severely more affordable. What's the next logical argument the defense will make?
The first baby boomers just turned 65 presently there are 76 million much more their choice. It's going for taking 20 years for this wave to secure through the funeral home industry. Not end up being overly morbid, but begin the process begins while sales person completing a report titled the "Quincy Report" which has an overview of your process, captures key data elements, and includes a story from product sales person's look at. That report is then shared using a team, the Inquest power team. This team, which is made up of fellow telemarketers and other executives associated with company, read the report and then participate in an Inquest business call. During the call, product sales person is definitely the situation and fields questions from the c's. The spirit of the call is to create a learning environment for the aforementioned three entities. Could not a forum to criticize the sales person. If a critique necessary, the sales leader handles that privately their own sales distinct.
youtube
One of the methods that effortlessly add more meaning to life in the present moment is to write all of our obituary. A summation on the legacy that we all will leave behind, may perhaps direct an impressive course depending on how we live our life now. Needing to be written at some time, we will as well take some control of ought to be familiar and purchase it reflect who we desire to be while we are still everyday living. If the particular one you is on hospice or perhaps is given fast amount, perfect certainly have a planning conversation with them, if they are able. That way you could be better in order to meet their demands and incorporate them with your planning.
