Eventually streaming services are gonna lose huge amounts of viewers. Of course they'll never completely lose paying viewers. But eventually,, I just feel it, there will be a massive drop in viewership everywhere. And it'll be their own fault.

girls like girls // o.batlle x reader
Tumblr media
o.batlle x reader
not sure if this needs a warning. reader goes down the bi to lesbian pipeline basically.
-
you had started questioning your sexuality in high school, which wasn’t uncommon, but it was scary. but you settled with the label bisexual since that felt right.
you didn’t tell anyone though. you didn’t need to. your plan was to marry a man and start a life with him. coming out was never going to be necessary if you did that.
so you ignored the niggling feeling you got whenever your friends discussed the boys they fancied and when they asked you, you always said the boy that was considered the cutest. you never quite understood why you didn’t experience the butterflies like they did, or why actually thinking of a few future with a man made a pit settle in the bottom of your stomach.
you signed for manchester city when you were seventeen, it was your first senior contract and luckily, you knew esme and ellie from the lionesses youth camps. so you weren’t entirely alone.
but when they started bugging you about boys, you went along with whatever they said. you dated the boys they set you up with, even kissed a few but nothing ever lasted. you couldn’t really tell them why because you didn’t know yourself.
it never really crossed your mind that maybe you just didn’t like boys until a manchester derby.
city had beaten united by a single goal and after the match, you felt someone jump on your back. “ow, tooney, get off!”
the brunette laughed in your ear and you somehow managed to shrug her off, shoving her away from you.
“come with me.” ella said, grabbing your wrist and dragging you over to where alessia stood chatting with a new player to the derby.
ella introduced you to ona and you pretended to listen but the only thing you could focus on was the spaniard herself. from the tattoos on her arm to the pink flush on her freckled cheeks, you couldn’t tear your eyes away.
ona might’ve been the prettiest girl you’d ever seen.
ignoring the sudden eruption of butterflies in your stomach, you cleared your throat and grinned. “oh it’s such a shame that you signed for the lesser manchester side.”
ella gasped, pulling you into a headlock as you laughed loudly. “take that back!”
“never! sky blue is better than red, tooney, it’s about time you admitted it to yourself!”
“are they always like this?” ona asked with a fond laugh as you wrestled ella to the floor.
“unfortunately, yes,” alessia sighed, shaking her head. “it never stops. not even off the pitch.”
ona would learn how true that statement was in the days after the match. she’d entered ella and millie’s apartment, finding you sat on the floor, xbox controller in your hands. the other one sat in ella’s grip, the tv showing the last minute of a fifa game, some of the united girls surrounding you both.
“take that, tooney!” you cheered, pointing to the screen. “what did i say the other day?! city for the win!”
ella scoffed, rolling her eyes and shoving her controller into leah’s waiting hands. “i let you win, mate.”
“sure, you did.”
alessia gave ona a knowing look as ella swiped your ankles from underneath you, everyone laughing as you landed in a heap on the floor.
you scowled and kicked ella’s knee, your blush deepening as you finally noticed ona’s presence.
it almost became a routine for you to crash a united girls night. you’d never admit it but you only did it on the off chance that ona might’ve shown up. eventually, you ended up being a constant presence, always around as per the request of ella and alessia.
you were out for dinner with the two girls one night, them occupying one side of the booth and you on the other. ella waved someone over and you turned, eyes widening as you spotted ona.
she slid into the seat next to you and you smiled at her, that familiar feeling settling in your stomach as she smiled back at you.
spending time with the spaniard one-on-one wasn’t unusual after that night and you forced your feelings down every single time.
having a growing crush on ona wasn’t a problem, in fact, it was something you were welcoming with open arms. the problem was the fact that nobody else had ever made you feel that way. and it terrified you.
everything you thought you knew about yourself was becoming a lie. all the boys you’d dated before were just something you wanted to forget, locking the memories away to never see the light of day again. they never made your knees weak or your skin tingle, your face never heated up when you were around them, you never felt attracted to any of them. and the realisation was killing you.
so when you got invited out after another manchester derby, you wanted to say no. but with leila and ella begging you relentlessly, you just couldn’t.
that’s how you found yourself sitting in a club a few hours later, nursing yet another drink you didn’t really want. alessia took your wrist in her hand and dragged you to the toilets, demanding you stay outside. you didn’t question why she didn’t want you inside but when a group of giggling girls stumbled out, you were kind of glad.
a drink was shoved into your hand and your eyebrows furrowed, looking in time to see alanna wave at you before disappearing into the crowd.
you were drinking it slowly until alessia re-emerged, taking your wrist again and pulling you onto the dancefloor. then ella was handing you a shot, shouting that you needed to loosen up and have fun. so you did.
after a few more drinks and many more shots, you were a free spirit on the dancefloor. all the worries flowed from your body as you danced with your friends. none of you having a care in the world.
you stumbled towards the bar, a pair of hands gripping your waist to hold you steady after someone knocked into you.
ona stood in front of you, the flush on her own cheeks a clear indication that you weren’t the only one ella was forcing to loosen up.
even in the flashing lights of the club, you could see her looking at your lips. without a second thought, you wrapped your arms around her neck, pushing your lips against hers feverishly.
you expected her to push you away so you were pleasantly surprised when she pulled you closer. your hand tangled in her hair and in that moment, you decided that you never wanted to kiss a man ever again.
kissing ona was magical. her lips were soft just like her hands and she tasted like tequila. the ache between your legs became apparent when she deepened the kiss, her tongue darting out to lick at your lips.
you pulled away then, the realisation of what was happening hitting you like a truck. your heart pounded as you shook your head, tears building in your eyes.
“i’m sorry. i’m sorry, i can’t–“
you rushed out of the club without another word, not really sure if ona had heard your apology. you jumped into the nearest taxi, ignoring the buzzing of your phone in your handbag.
your city teammates could tell something was bothering you when you turned up for training two days later. you looked exhausted and it showed in how you played. your passes were sloppy and your concentration was barely there and it never seemed to improve. ignoring ona only seemed to make it worse but responding to her simply wasn’t an option.
chloe and bunny tried to show you their new celebration and you smiled slightly, telling them it was great before walking away from them. alex took her turn in trying to talk to you, as your friend and not your captain, but you waved her off too.
when you declined an invite to a team bonding night is when the worry really began to set in. it was esme that used the emergency spare key to get into your apartment. the place was spotless and looked untouched but she knew you were there.
you’d heard the front door shut but you didn’t wipe your tears quick enough. your bedroom door opened and esme stood there, a frown on her face as she looked at you.
“oh, babe,” she sighed, sitting next to you as you sniffled. “what’s up? you’ve been down all week but i didn’t want to say anything… you know you can tell me anything, right?”
you nodded slightly, fiddling with the tag of the blanket covering your body. “i really liked someone, es. and i majorly messed it up because i—i wasn’t ready for any of it.”
“i didn’t know you were dating.” esme said quietly and for a second, you felt guilty.
“no one did,” you told her. “i wasn’t really dating them anyway, we’re… friends.”
“anyway,” she shook her head, reaching out to play with the bracelet on your wrist. “if this guy doesn’t respect you enough to wait for you then he is not worth it, and he certainly does not deserve these tears.”
“it wasn’t—“ the words died in your throat, tears burning in your eyes as you nibbled on your lip. esme immediately grabbed your hand, giving it a squeeze. “it wasn’t a guy, es. it was a girl. i’m—i’m gay.”
you don’t know why you expected such a bad reaction from sweeter than sweet, human personification of sunshine and rainbows esme morgan, but you did. you waited for the shouting, the name calling, the storming out but none of it ever came.
the blonde leaned forward and pulled you into a tight hug, rubbing your back soothingly.
“thank you for telling me,” she whispered. “does anyone else know?”
“no,” you shook your head, pulling back so you could look at her. “you are the first and only.”
she squeezed your hand again. “i’m so proud of you.”
you tried your best to smile but the weight of the situation was heavy on your chest. you subsequently burst into tears, burying your face in your hands.
“i’m so scared, esme,” you sobbed as she continued to rub your back. “being like this is terrifying, my whole life is going to change, i don’t want it to change. i don’t–“
she shushed you softly, moving her hand to stroke your hair. you cried into her shoulder, wrapping your arms around her.
esme didn’t move back until you did, gently cradling your face and wiping your tears.
“you don’t have to be afraid. you’re not going through this alone, not anymore,” she said quietly. “i’m going to be here every step of the way. so will the other girls.”
you swallowed thickly. “i don’t think i want to tell them yet.”
“and that’s okay, it’s your choice,” she smiled softly. “but i do think you need to talk to the girl you were seeing, tell her everything you told me. if she’s worth your time and effort, she’ll understand. and if she doesn’t, let that be it with her.”
you opened your mouth to speak when the sound of your front door bursting open cut you off.
“right!” you heard ella shout, slamming the door shut with quiet pleads from alessia following. their footsteps grew louder as did their voices. “no, less! something happened. i don’t know what but i know something did and since ona won’t tell me, i’ll find out myself!”
“tooney!” alessia hissed once your bedroom had been swung open, the blonde motioning wildly to you and esme.
ella’s eyes widened as she took in the scene, shuffling uncomfortably on her feet. “oh, i interrupted something. sorry.”
“no, no, it’s okay,” you sighed, glancing quickly at esme. she nodded at you and you took a deep breath. “sit. i’ll tell you what happened.”
again, you didn’t know why you held such low expectations of your friends. but they both hugged you and as esme did, thanked you for telling them and saying that they were proud of you.
“so will you help?” you asked, looking between the three. “i really like ona and i have a lot of grovelling to do.”
“no, you don’t,” ella said and you furrowed your eyebrows. “she’s not mad at you, she’s not even upset. she’s worried about you.”
“really?”
“really,” ella nodded. “ona wouldn’t tell me what happened but she said that you ran off and wouldn’t answer her calls, and when hempo said that you looked like a train had hit you, i knew something had happened between you.”
“did you see us?” you asked quietly.
“nobody did. and if they did, nobody has said anything.” ella told you, esme nodded in agreement.
you breathed heavily and that’s when you noticed how guilty alessia looked. “less?”
“i saw you,” she whispered. “but i didn’t say anything to anyone, i promise. not even when tooney started her investigation.”
you laughed a little at that, placing your hand over hers. “it’s okay. thank you for not telling anyone.”
“right then!” ella clapped. “let’s get working on that plan because i, for one, miss you hanging around with us. even if you play for the lesser manchester side.”
“rude.”
ᡣ𐭩
you stood outside ona’s apartment, a bunch of flowers in one hand and a bag of her favourite takeout in the other.
taking a deep breath, you raised your fist and knocked. for a few seconds there was nothing and you were ready to punch tooney for lying to you until the door swung open.
much like the first time you’d laid eyes on ona, she took your breath away. she looked just as beautiful as she did the last time you saw her in the club.
“hi.” you breathed, shuffling on your feet.
“hi,” ona smiled softly. “come in.”
she stepped to the side and you stepped in, eyes flickering around the apartment. the door closed and you turned to face her.
“before we talk, can we eat? i’m starving,” your face heated up as she laughed. with a shaky hand, you held the flowers out to her. “and, um, these are you. i hope you like ‘em.”
she took them and you held your breath, feeling a little relief when you noticed the soft blush on her cheeks. “they are beautiful, thank you.”
she motioned for you to follow her and you did, watching in silence as she placed the flowers into a vase before gently taking the bag from your hand. you moved to help her plate the food, pretending not to notice her looking at you.
you didn’t really touch your food, the hunger you were feeling had vanished and you were left feeling sickly.
“i’m sorry.” you said quietly and very suddenly, staring down at your plate.
“for what?” ona asked softly and you breathed deeply.
“for everything,” you shrugged, sparing her a glance. “i owe you an explanation. i messed up and i need to fix it.”
when she stayed quiet, you realised that she was allowing you to do so and took another deep breath.
“it was wrong of me to run off and ignore you after the club but when we kissed, it confirmed something for me and i freaked out. we’ve never had the sexuality discussion so i don’t know what labels you’ve used but for a while, i thought i was bi, and in my mind, that meant that i would never have to come out. but then you happened. and you made me realise that i… never actually liked men. they’ve never made me feel the way you do.”
you took another breath after you’d finished, face flushing with the realisation that you’d accidentally confessed your feelings for the spaniard.
it was quiet and you spared ona a glance. her chin rested on her hand and the way she was looking at you made your heart flutter.
you studied her, much like you did on the pitch that day, letting your eyes flicker along her freckles and tattoos.
“you’re really pretty,” you murmured, giggling softly as she turned her head, attempting to hide the flush of pink on her face. “maybe we could start again. do it properly this time.”
she turned back. “are you asking me on a date?”
“yeah, i guess i am.” you nodded.
a smile spread across ona’s face. “are you going to run away again?”
you rolled your eyes playfully, knocking her knee with yours but smiling fondly.
“no. i have no reason to run now.”

Changes pt 2
Ellie Williams x female reader !
Tumblr media
A/n: it's here at last ... I hope you all enjoy it I honestly don't have much to say but, pt 3 ? Also this whole idea was inspired by a show slightly, if you can guess what it is down below I'll give you a kiss 😁!!
Summary: Ellies the bad girl in the school but she takes a liking to the reader, everyone's worried but the reader somehow changes her for the better ... or does she ?
Warnings: drinking, smoking, the mention of drugs like once. Swearing ? Mentions of anxiety and a beginning panic attack ! Think that's all :)
Masterlist || pt 1 ! Pt 3 !
A few weeks had past, and your bond with Ellie grew even stronger. You spent most of your time with her, although that wasn't very liked by the people around you. "She's gunna hurt you Y/n." Your roommate, Angela warns for what felt like the hundredth time. You know you should probably listen, but maybe Ellie just hasn't been around the right sort of people. Maybe she's changed. You were convinced that's what it was. As you started to get to know Ellie you learnt she was actually quite smart. She knew so much, but she constantly turned up late to classes. Never paid attention. You were confused as to why, she was so talented and bright, why would anyone throw something like that away.
You were currently walking down the halls on your way to your favorite place, yes ofcourse the library. It was like your home away from home. As you walk in you spot Ellie sitting there, doing her usual dribbles and doodles. "Whatcha doin there?" You beam at her as you sit down in a chair close to hers. She looks up at you and gives you a smile. "Just sketching, nothing exciting." She continues to look at you as you get a few things out. "How's the book?" She asks, setting a pencil she held on the table infront of you both. "Its the best, I've been reading it non-stop." You smile more at the question. She just smiles at your smile. "Told you, it's such a good read." A silence filled the air, not an awkward one, or a comfortable one. Just a silence, one that was as if there was something still to be said. You could feel it, so you look up at her. She was just looking at you, admiringly. But for some reason she stops, clearing her throat a little bit and getting back to her drawing. Odd? Maybe a little.
Ellie knew she wasn't the relationship type. She knew she wasn't classed as 'good' she knew she flunked on many things. She knew this. So why does it feel like she's feeling something for you. That never happens, she uses people- as bad as that sounds she won't sugar coat it, she knows she's done wrong. Is she going to do it to you too? She had no idea and the thought honestly frightened her, she's never felt this way for anyone in her life. She needed to put those thoughts aside she couldn't fall. But oh how beautiful she thought you were. Your hair looked so well taken care of, perfect features. Not too much makeup just light amounts, your pretty skin and how soft it genuinely looked. Minding your own business as you read, focusing on what it is you're reading. She couldn't, this isn't good. Especially when she has no faith in herself to not hurt you. But she couldn't give it up, she wanted to be in your presence you were so sweet and inviting it made her feel warm.
She had to not give into all these feelings at all. "Ellie?" You tilt your head slightly to get a better look at her face. You two were currently in her room working on something that was assigned to the both of you. She wasn't paying attention which you found out was normal for her to tube out and go into her little land. "Yeah sorry, just thinking." You slowly nod, continuing to speak about the project. She let's out a sigh. "I'm sorry am I boring you?" You let out a light hearted giggle as you say that, she begins to get defensive. Worried she had hurt you in some way. "No no no, ofcourse not! The complete opposite. Sorry I'm just a bit tired." She admits. You still laugh a tiny bit. "I'm just being silly Els." She swallows. That name that you acquired recently, makes her insane.
But definitely in a good way, she loves it. Was she a fool for you or something. You go to speak again, but shut your mouth. It had been dawning on you, the question you wanted to ask so badly. So you just come out and ask. "Why are you always ditching classes, why aren't you applying yourself?" She looks directly at you as you say this. She just shrugs. "You're incredibly smart Ellie. I don't know why you're-" You continue, although she shuts it down. "I really don't want to talk about this." She blurts, making you shut up for a sec. "Yeah no ofcourse." Awkward silence, but she breaks it with yet another sigh. "I'm sorry that was harsh." You just shake your head. "No no, I shouldn't of been nosey, it's not my business." You give her a tiny smile. Yet again. More silence.
"Right well, we shou-" "you want a smoke?" You were stunned by the question. You watch as she gets up. It was a little upsetting to see her not care about this project. "Elli-" She turns around. "Oh yeah no ofcourse, I shouldn't of asked." "El-" But she wasn't done. "That was a silly question, you don't seem like the type to do th-" "ELLIE." The room went quiet, she just looks at you. "Will you just shut up for a second." You laugh slightly. "Why are you avoiding this project?" She shrugs. She really likes doing that, huh. "I dunno, it's stupid." You furrow your brows slightly. "But this would be so easy for you Els." Theres that name again. She begins to smoke whatever the fuck she is smoking, seemingly to ignore you. You roll your eyes a tiny bit, closing the books that you had in your grasp, while going to get up, and walk over to her. She watches you, continuing to smoke. However she wasn't expecting your next move.
You get on your tiptoes and snatch it out her hand. "Hey!" She stands up properly. You keep ahold of it. "I'll give it back once you do some of this work!" You laugh a bit. She looks at you. With a 'be so serious' look. "Like I can't just snatch it right back." She walks towards you slowly, making you back up. "Well I won't let ya." She lets out her own laugh. "Did you forget your hight?" You glare at her. "I am not, that short." She raises a brow, getting closer to you going to try grab it, but you swiftly move your arm so she can't. "I may be tiny but I'm smart." She goes to try again. "Yeah well so am I." Again, she tries and fails. "Well if you're so smart use it for the project." She completely ignores that deciding to bend down and put you over her shoulder. You let out a small screech, going to grip the cig a bit tighter so it doesn't fall.
She drops you on her bed being careful still, making you bounce slightly on the mattress. She goes for the cig now that you are more grounded, but yet again you move it so she couldn't. You let out a giggle at how difficult she's finding this. "Not funny, you." She tries. Again. You laugh more at her poor attempts. "Right that's it." She pins your arms down as you try get out of her grasp, but before she could do all that you put it in your mouth having it rest there. "Gunna have to unpin my arms if you want it." You mumble still having it against your lips. "You're trouble huh." You let out another laugh. She goes to unpin one of your arms and when she does you quickly grab te cigarette from your mouth and hold it above you.
You could see the slight frustration in her eyes, you try hard not to let another laugh slip. "Gimmie it." "Do the work." She stares at you for a moment. "Oh you wanna play games?" She wastes no time into tickling you. One thing she didn't know but definitely was going to find out is that you were incredibly ticklish. Your eyes widen. "No no noooo." She doesn't listen, continuing the assault to your sides, you squirm trying to escape it. "Ellie!" You let out constant giggles. She smirks seeing you weren't paying attention and snatching the cigarette right back into her grasp, sticking it back into her mouth. But she didn't stop tickling you. "Say you're sorry Missy!" You laugh more. "Hell no!" Shes close to you. "Then the tickling shall continue." You keep laughing and honestly. Ellie enjoys this.
She really enjoyed your laugh, she loved to hear it. The fact she could make you laugh so easily made her heart happy. She's never seen anyone else make you laugh like she has, and sometimes she doesn't even try. But she manages to always pull a laugh or giggle from your lips. "Ellie pleaseee." She shakes her head. "Stand down!" You laugh. "Fine fine I surrender, I'm sorry!" You're still laughing even when she's stopped. But like most times silence overcame this scene. It was never an awkward one though. You look at each other. "Can we do some of the project now." You ask her. She stays quiet for a bit. Pondering. "Come on Ellie, it's not much and it's not like you'd struggle or anything-" you cut your sentence short. You hadn't realized how close you two were, she's most definitely noticing this too. You swallow keeping the eye contact going.
But she takes the cigarette out, turns her head and blows some smoke, beginning to get off of you. "Can I ask you something?" You sit up a bit once shes off, nodding. "Yeah ofcourse." You were intrigued. "What do people tell you about me?" You look at her, wondering how to go about this. "They just tell me to be careful and such." Now you shrug, sitting up more into a criss cross position. "Can I ask a question now?" She looks at you and nods. "Why do they tell me that. What's so bad that you've done." That silence was upon the room again. Another famous Ellie sigh. "I'm not a completely great person, maybe I'm working on it I dunno. But I don't date. I can't it's just not in me." You listen to all she has to say. "Why?" Usually people who asked such questions would get shut down by her. But she genuinely wanted to tell you, she loved the way you'd listen, to anyone. The way you'd take in every detail of information. "I'm not too sure."
She sits on the bed with you. "I just don't know if I can bring myself to being committed to anyone. You know?" You nod, taking in what she has to say. "I dunno, maybe I haven't found the right person." You keep looking at her. "Hmm, maybe." Silence. "You think you ever could?" She sighs a tiny bit. "I could do, no way of truly telling until the time actually comes." "Noted." For the first time ever with you two, there was a slight awkwardness in the air. You wanted to say something to fix it but you just stay silent. "What about you?" You became confused by the question. "What about, me?" You inquire. "Yeah, you been with people? You a relationship kinda girl?" You laugh a tiny bit at the question. "I've been in a few, nothing serious but I definitely am a relationship girl." She nods, going to take one last drag of her cig, going to put it out in an ashtray on her windowsill.
It was a few days later, you were currently on your way to your dorm, Angie was out for the night so you had a hot date with your blankets and your book. As you were strolling down the halls you caught sight of a friend in your class, you smile at him. "Hey, kenny!" You say with joy. He returns the smile, coming over to you. "Hey Y/n, what you got planned for tonight?" "I'm going to relax, read and eat." You smile more. "How about you? Anything exciting?" He shrugs. "Probably going to chill also, or go to a party." You nod, knowing he was probably confused on why you were staying inside on a Friday night, you didn't really know each other very well so you aren't surprised if he is. "You keep to yourself alot huh?" You nod proud. "Sure do, keeps me sane." He laughs a tiny bit. "Well I mean not completely to yourself." You furrow your brows. "What do you mean?" He pauses for a sec, looking at you. "I see you with Williams alot." "Oh yeah, she's cool to hang out with." He doesn't say anything immediately.
"What are you two? Like fuck buddies or something?" More confusion. "Excuse me?" You laugh slightly. "Well I never see her with many people unless she's fucking them soo." You stare at him. "Do people think that? Like about me and her" He shrugs. "I know I do, maybe others. But what are you two?" Why was he so intrigued by it. You knew she didn't have a great rep but seriously? "Well shes a good friend." He thinks for a moment. "She don't have many of those." You were baffled by this man and what he had to say. "I guess you just truly don't know her then." You don't know why you felt so irritated by this, but you go to leave. "Don't start anything with her, you're too pure for her antics." You stop in your tracks, going to turn back around. "And don't judge a book by its cover." You simply state. "Bit hard when that cover hasn't had the best past." You sigh. "People change." "Not Williams. Trust me we all thought that once, there's no changing her-" you go to cut him off.
"What are you talking about." He looks at you as if he was the one confused now. "You don't know?" You shake your head. "This has happened before, she almost dated this girl who thought would change her, she shitted big time on her. She doesn't even go here anymore and it was all because of Williams." You didn't want to believe that, it sounded horrible. "I'm sure she didn't leave just because of that." There was a tiny pause. "Nope, definitely was. She broke that poor girls heart. Couldn't even bring herself to come back, so she moved. I'm just trying to save you from-" you shut that down immediately. "I can handle myself, thank you though. But I don't need you telling me this." He shrugs. "Alright, just letting you know before you get too far gone with her." And that was that you both turned to leave. Did everyone just hate this girl? How could almost the whole school be so against her. You try to ignore all of this, wanting to go read, that is until you get a text.
-Hey, you busy tonight?
Speak of the devil. It was Ellie. You couldn't help but smile at your phone.
-I was going to have a night of reading, but you're more than welcome to join me, my roommate isn't going to be there so it'd be nice and quiet.
-how could i possibly decline that generous offer ;) see you soon?
-bring a book! 🤓
-holding one right now 📖
You smile more, making your way to your door and grabbing the keys to unlock it. You were brought to your senses when you could smell what seemed to be vanilla, you knew it was Angies perfume, she would always wear it whenever she'd go see her boyfriend. It always made you smile when she'd go on dates, she'd be so genuinely happy to get dressed up, telling you how amazing he was and how happy he made her. It was nice to hear. You set your things down on the couch, heading into your room to grab some blankets and such, making a space on the couch for them. You were soon startled when you hear a knock on the door, to it being opened. "Hello hello hello." Ellie says coming in. "Oh hey, I was just getting the couch nice." She closes the door behind her. "What book did you bring?" You ask, looking over at her. "I- honestly have no clue just picked up something random." She states, coming over to the couch and sitting down. "Good day?" She leans back into the cushions, kicking her feet up on the coffee table.
"Yeah pretty good, bit slow but it got there in the end. And you?" Coming over to sit down next to her, bringing the blankets up your body. "Pretty much the same." You couldn't help but laugh. "What's so hilarious." She smiles ever so slightly. "I dunno, I just assume they're boring because you don't do anything." She raises a brow. "Not true. I have so much fun." "Oh yeah? What do you do that's so fun?" You open your book up, taking the Bookmark out preparing to read once you were done with the conversation. "I go on a secret mission, shhhh I can't talk about it." You laugh and roll your eyes. "You're so incredibly goofy." She smiles more. "You love it." Your smile softened a bit, you truly did. You loved how she would be so silly, especially since you didn't get to see that side of her until you were alone together. You avert your eyes over to the words on the page, beginning to read your book. She does the same opening up the random book to start.
After a little bit, you wanted to just talk. As you're still looking at your book you speak up. "I had a weird interaction today." She looks up, and at you. "Oh?" You do the same, nodding. "Got told to stay away from you, again." She lets out a sigh. "I'm sorry people are bombarding you with that-" But you just shake your head. "Trust me it's fine, it doesn't bother me. What gets to me is how hung up they are on the topic." You truly couldn't wrap your brain around it. "He told me about this girl you had almost gotten into a relationship wi-" "he?" She stops your words. You look at her as she does so. "Yeah?" She furrows her brows more. "Who is this guy?" "His names Kenny, you know him?" She rolls her eyes. "Who doesn't know him, he's always in people's faces." You keep looking at her as she speaks, when a sudden sigh comes out.
"The reason he told you that was because he was super close to her. He got furious at me when the whole thing happened and it eventually turned into a huge fight. Silly, drunken fight." This makes you raise your brows. "Oh my God." "It was all okay, no one got badly hurt but it happened, I moved on. Clearly he hasn't." You think for a moment, wondering if you should ask what you wanted to or stay in your lane and just keep quiet. She noticed your silence. "What're you thinking 'bout pretty girl?" Trying to ignore how happy that name made your heart, you push all the fear away and just ask. "What did you even do to her." Ellie goes quiet tho as if she didn't want to talk about it. "I- uhm just forget that sorry." You bite your lip feeling awful for even bringing it up. She puts a reassuring hand on your knee. "I don't mind. It's ok, I promise just caught me a little off guard is all." Listening to what she says, you nod. "I was never really present in the relationship, sort of a bit closed off. It wasn't even a relationship really, more of a- I dunno. We got on very well but at the same time I don't think she understood me truly. She was a great person, I honestly thought she was going to be my very first girlfriend." You cut her off. "Wait wait so you haven't dated anyone at ALL?" You knew she struggled to be in relationships.
But to have never been in some sort of one before, shocks you. "Never ever?" She lets out a breath. "Okay, sorry continue." You hear a tiny laugh come from her, making you smile a bit. "Anyway, I just couldn't do it. I knew I felt something but not enough to commit to anything serious like I knew she wanted. But I couldn't bring myself to let her go for so long. When one night she asked me, and I froze. I stood there trying to find some words to tell her nicely that I couldn't." Ellie stops for a second, which worried you. "Oh God, what did you do." There was silence. "I told her she wasn't relationship worthy.." Your mouth opens slightly. "Jesus Ellie." "I know, I'm not proud of it I'm really not. Especially her face after, I felt so bad deep inside but I think I made things worse with my dry facial expressions.." shocked would be an understatement. You had no idea how to respond. "No one knows that. Your actually the first person who knows the true story. The rest just made up silly rumors of how it ended, she left soon after so no one really knows the full story but me."
Still not knowing what to say you move your gaze to her. "Please say somethin." She says awkwardly. "You're not the best with words are you?" You let out a tiny giggle. She scratches her neck. "Is it obvious?" You shake your head slightly, with a roll of your eyes. "Dumbie." That silence you two always came across, occurs. You love it, it was comforting if you were quite honest. "We aren't doing much reading." She pipes up, making you look at her. "We aren't are we." You laugh a bit, setting it down and going to stand. "Where are you off to?" Honestly you didn't know, but you felt like putting music on. "Going to get my speaker, I always put on some music when Angela is out." Ellie learns more about you everyday. "What kind of music. Some heavy metal shit." Another laugh escapes you. "What do you take me for?" "I dunno, you surprise me very often." You had the speaker in hand, setting it down on the coffee table. "Honestly, if I like a song I like it, I don't have a specific type." She smiles. "Well said." You turn your head, looking at her. "And you?" She thinks for a sec, letting out a hum in thought. "Well as long as it's not some yehaw shit." This makes you laugh, harder than you have before. "Really? Now that's something I would've thought you'd like." She scoffs, throwing one of the pillows that were rested on the couch at your face.
But you catch it quickly. "Ugh, rude." Throwing it back at her she just laughs. You grab your phone and play your Playlist, sitting back down in the position you were in before. "So, loves to read, doesn't like heavy metal, is very ticklish." The last one makes you pinch her shoulder, resulting in her holding her arm with dramatics. "What else am I going to find out about you." You think for a moment. "I guess you'll have to wait and see." She tilts her head. "You a party person?" Honestly you had no idea, you hadn't been to the kind of party she's talking about in your entire life, so how could you tell if you liked them or not. "Can't judge when I've never been to one." Now it was her who was gobsmacked. "Never, ever?" She quotes you from before. "Shut up. I find fun in other things." She looks offended. "I've been to some pretty wicked parties ma'am." You roll your eyes. "You love doing that too, don't you?" She points at your face. "What? Roll my eyes?" She nods. "They'll get stuck like that if you aren't careful." She says, seeming serious but you knew she was being a dickhead.
"Oh Har Har." "No need to fake laugh around me. We all know how hard I can make you laugh." You raise a brow. "Oh really?" She nods. "Yes really, I'm the master." She notices the look on your face and smiles wickedly. "Challenge accepted." "Wait-" But she pounces on you, going straight to tickling you. You try to push her off, giggling as you do so. "Ok ok stop, point proven." Shes now laughing too, but they both die down as your eyes meet. As corny as that sounds its true, you two were currently so close to one another. You could feel the coolish air from her nose. Then something just clicks in her brain and. "Y/n." You keep the eye contact. "Mhmmmm." "I think I like you." You let out another giggle. "You think?" The look that's on her face makes you giggle more. "No like I know I do.." There was a long pause which made Ellie worry. "Is this the first time you've ever said that to someone." She nods reluctantly. You soon become more serious. "Like actually like me?" You sit up, staring at her at the confession. "I've never said that to a girl before. Never."
Looking down, you take in this information. "I think I like you too Els." You let a small smile slip but she just playfully rolls her eyes. "So what now then?" That, she hadn't thought too far into. But as she wonders what this could become those bad thoughts of hurting you cross her mind, usually she wouldn't care. Horrible as that is she never did care. Maybe you truly are changing her. And what she does next truly shocks the crap out of you. "Will you be my girlfriend?"
You had said yes. Ofcourse you were thinking of those thoughts too, but you had hope she wouldn't, consider yourself stupid? Maybe. You just wanted to live in the moment, if anything keeping it a secret was the most hardest thing throughout this all. The first time you and Ellie kissed you were just hanging out in your room, Angie was home and she had come in without knocking, thank goodness she saw nothing. You've also gotten closer with Jesse and Dina, they were so kind. You were sitting with them and Ellie one day having some food in the small Cafe they have down there. "I'm just going to get some more of that Cake, you want any?" She looks at you, you just shake your head no. As she goes to leave tho, Dina turns to you. "She has this new glow to her." A hum leaves your lips as you eat. "Maybe being around you is changing her." She continues. "If so can you like stay forever." Jesse then speaks. It made you laugh slightly. "I'm not going anywhere." They look at eachother. "Well that's if she doesn't do anything stupid." Damn, even her close friends have no hope in her. You'd be lying If you said that didn't worry you much.
More time passes and it's getting harder to keep the secret, you didn't really care for what anyone else had to say about it, but you sure did worry about Angie, Dina, and Jesse. You had bonded with all of them so well you didn't want them to hate you entirely. Today, you weren't as careful. You were currently hanging out with Dina and Jesse in your room, chilling. When you hear a knock at the door. "Hold up let me just get that." As you get up to go see who it was, you forgot to close your bedroom door. You open it, but before you can process anything you're being kissed, you froze. "Hey baby." Ellie then says after pulling away, gently grabbing the flesh of your ass. Open, your mouth was open in shock. "BABY?" You then heard Dina screech, coming out of your bedroom along with Jesse. "Uh oh-" Ellie then says, removing her hand. You swallow as you turn around slowly. "Ermmm." They were shocked. "Ain't no way." Dina continues. You were stumped. What were you suppose to say? "Really Ellie, another poor heart?" Ellie furrows her brows.
She was going to say something but you step in. "Hey, that's not entirely true. How do you know she will do that, she can change you kno-" Dina shakes her head. "She's not changing Y/n, she will hurt you." Ellie scoffs. "Right here you know." Dina looks at her. "Don't even think about hurting her, Ellie. Come on Jesse." They both go to leave. "We warned you." She says to you. You just stay quiet, watching as they go. Silence was left in the room. "I'm sorry I should've said something-" Ellie shakes her head. "Don't be, seriously. What's done is done it's not your fault, promise." She says, putting her hands on your shoulders then moving them to your cheeks. You nod slightly. "Well, do you think they hate us now?" She laughs a tad. "You? Never. Me? Always. But it's understandable so I can't blame them." You look down, it sadden you how they saw her, you knew she hadn't been so great in the past- but that was in the past. Right? She makes you look at her again, putting her thumb and index against your chin. "Don't worry about them or anything else yeah? That shouldn't be a concern." You nod at her words, getting on your tiptoes to kiss her. "Anyways are you hungry?" You asked as you make your way into the small kitchen you and Angie had.
Ellie shakes her head. "Well, not for food." She shrugs while having a sly smirk on her face, that makes you grab a piece of bread that was sitting on the counter and throw it at her. Which earns a chuckle from her lips. "You're gross." She holds her hands up. "Whattt can't admire my yummy girlfriend?" You roll your eyes. "Far from that-" "Ay! Dont talk about my girlfriend like that thank you very much." This only makes you laugh now, making her smile too. "Well, I'm going to have a snack because I'm quite hungry." You state, going over to grab something to munch on. You then feel hands on your waist, and a chin on your shoulder. "May I help you." She just shakes her head, soon after hiding it in your neck. "Nurp, comfy." That warmed your heart, she was such a sweet person. As you were fixing up some food you felt warm soft lips on your neck, so delicate and gentle. It made you close your eyes relishing in the tenderness. "You smell so good." She blurts out, keeping the warm kisses going. You hum in response. "You smell so.. bad." She pinches your waist making you giggle. "Ow!" "I don't smell bad, take that back!"
You only giggle more. "You smell like cigarettes." She gasps. "You've told me you love the way I smell! Liar!" You roll your eyes, but she swiftly turns you around in her arms, grabbing your face and squishing your cheeks. "Els-" She stares into your soul, making you laugh out. "What on earth are you doing?" "Shhh, making your eyes stay like the way they did since you love doing that so much." She continues to do whatever with her eyes. "Oh my god." You proceed to shove her off of you, but her grip tightens. "You're such an idiot." She smiles. "Yeah well I'm your idiot, so suck it up buttercup." She kisses your nose and loosens her grip, going to lean against the counter. "You really do look great today. Just thought I'd remind you." You smile sweetly at her. "You look pretty beautiful yourself." Shes now smiling too. "Im the pertyest." You laugh at the way she said it, making her smile grow. She could never get over how pretty your laugh was. It was her favorite thing, ever.
It had been a few months or so since you and Ellie first got together, maybe a bit longer but who's counting you. Currently you were making your way to her dorm, like most Friday nights. Knocking on the door to be greeted by your beautiful girlfriends green eyes. "Hey baby." You smile, and so does she. "Hello Ms thing. Come in come in." She moves out the way so you can enter, going straight to the couch and making yourself comfortable. "What have we got planned tonight?" You ask. You two usually always did a special something on a Friday night. Her roommate was out on most of them so you'd come over to Ellies. "Well I know how you feel about parties, and if you don't want to we can chill out here for the night, but there's one a few dorms down." You ponder this idea, and honestly, why not. You figure it'll be fun especially with Ellie and how enjoyable she could make anything be. "Sounds like a plan." She raises her brows, genuinely happy you agreed. "Awesome, I'm getting changed because I just came straight here from my last class." She mentions going to go do that.
You do a double take. "You? In class?" She scoffs. "Shut up." Which makes you smile. "Noo, it's great i'm glad." She shortly comes back out. "Your sarcasm is lovely." She sarcastically replies. "You ready?" You nod at her question. "Sure am."
The music was booming, so many crowds of people. The smell of alcohol and potentially what you assumed was drugs. Pleasant. "Oh this ones going to be a good one I can feel it." Ellie says looking around, scoping everything out. "You're so silly." "Come on let's get a drink." You follow but she knows you don't drink. "I'll be the sober help." She looks at you. "Not even one love?" Her question makes you shake your head as she puts a hand on your shoulder. "Alright, just make sure you're comfortable yeah?" She says before giving you a kiss. You smile at her words, beginning to feel weirdly anxious about the night, and you had no idea why.
People were everywhere it was all quite alot to take in. As you were sitting on Ellies lap you noticed how drunk she was. It was different seeing her like this. "Mmm I want another." She would slur. Making you let out a light giggle. "You're so gone Els-" "your laughs so pretty, makes my heart warm." She suddenly says. You smile more at her. "Well that's very kind of you." After a little you let out a sigh, you felt like you weren't being fun right now, you didn't want to disappoint Ellie but you had so much anxiety currently, and you had no idea on how to stop it. "Can you pretty please get me another drink my beautiful girlfriend." She taps your side, holding up her empty cup. You smile at how precious she was right now. "Sure can." You take it from her going to get off and head over to the drinks. As you're over there you feel someone next to you. "Here with Williams?" It was Kenny. You look at him. "Is that illegal?" He stares at you. "Are you dating her?" You huff. "What even is it to you Kenny?" He shakes his head. "Youre going to get hurt." "Im doing just fine thanks." You turn to leave, back to Ellie. "Here you go." You say a little dryly. "Thank youu." She muddles her words, grabbing it off of you. You sit back down in her lap. "Was he hassling you?" You hear her ask. "Who, Kenny? Nothing I can't handle my love." You reassure her, although you think it was slightly getting to you. She just nods in return.
The night went on, and your chest still had that same feeling, your anxiety was increasing. You wanted to have fun with your girlfriend and friends but you just couldn't seem to relax. It made you more anxious that Ellie wasn't with it. You're starting to think its childhood trauma that's making you feel this way, you didn't know how to just shut this weird feeling off. "You alright mama?" Ellie asks, rubbing your shoulder, still drunk as anything. You just nod and bite your lip, chewing that silky skin off nervously. "I'm just going to go for a pee." You tell her, getting up and heading to wherever the bathroom is. Once you find it you head in, going to the sink to splash water on your face in hopes it'd calm you down just a little bit. "You're fine, Y/n just take a breath and relax. Everything's fine." You say to your reflection. You leave, entering the booming party once again, going over to where Ellie was last seen but she's not there, odd. Making your way around you try to find her, hoping she's alright and she hasn't got into something bad, knowing how some idiots can be with drinks. As you make your way around the room your heart completely sinks to the floor, you stand there unable to move.
All your emotions crashing down on you. Shock being the main one, then anger. You truly couldn't believe any of it, was it some silly nightmare? There Ellie was just stuck to some girl. Kissing her. After that shock wears off you felt your anxiety push your anger into motion, moving your feet over to her. You make a cough noise, seeing her pull back from it turning slightly. She may of been drunk but she knew exactly what had happened. "Fuck-" She says under her breath. "Wait baby no i-" You grab her drink and chuck it in her face. "No." You point at her, the girl silently sneaking off. "Ellie what the actual fuck." She just stares at you. Now you feel your tears now they start to come, and her heart breaks. Tears spill at the sight you just witnessed, she's never seen you cry before. You're always so cheerful. So it truly ruins her. "Y/n no no please-" "After everything we've been through, after what you told me. They were wrong. You cant change for anyone. I should've listened to them." She immediately shakes her head. "Don't say that please- it was an accident fuck- she just-" But you shove the cup into her chest. "Shut up Ellie." And she does but she needed to tell you how sorry she was.
After a second of standing there you couldn't look at her anymore. "Wait-" She pleads as you begin to walk off, getting lost in the crowd of people, it was such a huge room you had no idea where you were even heading. The anxiety approaches again, all you wanted was to get back to the comfort of your own room. Your tears still dripping slightly, fogging your vision. You plop down on a random sofa, feeling a panic attack arise. Which freaks you out as you haven't had one of those in many years. You try to even out your breathing, which you managed to do. But everything was so overwhelming. Someone sits next to you, and great it was none other than Kenny. "Did she do something." You sigh. "Good God Kenny. Please just stop." He scoffs. "So im right, correct? Fucking Williams." You turn your head away, just wanting to get out of this unfamiliar place. He places a hand on your leg, making you stiffen. "I'm sorry she did, you never should deserve something like that." This makes you turn your attention to him. "She always steals the girls I like. And ruins their lives." Your eyes widen. "Wha-" "I could treat you so much better." He says. You were baffled by this. "Kenny what are you even-" When you couldn't think this night could get worse, it does. He goes to try and kiss you but you dodge it immediately, standing to your feet. "Kenny no- im really not interested." He begins to stand too. "That's what she said." You smelt it on his breath. "Kenny you're drunk, I think you need some water-"
He shakes his head getting close to you again, your overwhelming anxiousness comes back again, especially once you see him flush to the floor. Your attention is now on Ellie who punched the living shit out of him. "Ellie what the fu-" "He touched you!" You facepalm. "Good God I have nowhere near enough energy for this shit." The night couldn't get any worse as Kenny stands back up, the two drunk as anything. "You bitch." He goes to swing at her but she moves. "Fight round two then, you fucker." She begins it all. You don't even know what to do anymore. "You're both children." You state, going to try find the exit. You had to get back, this night was all too much. But Ellie notices you leaving, so she goes after you. "Wait no- please let me explain!" She grabs your arm but you yank it. "No Ellie. Don't ever touch or even speak to me again." "They weren't right, you have changed me i swear to you!" You shake your head. "Once a dick. Always a dick. You. Have. Not. Changed." You spat.

a/n: hi hellooo, long time no see! **first, a quick disclaimer: this isn't realistic, there is a complete lack of morals and an unethical/dangerous amount of violence that i wouldn't condone irl. but alas this is fan fiction based off a M rated game whose whole basis is violence, sooo plz keep that in mind when reading.** anywaysss... i’ve been obsessed with this song for months now and it sparked a little oneshot idea so here it is. not exactly my usual stuff, more of a passion project as i process my hatred for men as a lesbian who used to date them. soooo i guess this one goes out to my small town comp het girlies who love ellie williams. thanks for all the support!! ♡~ lola

In the south it never really felt like a true winter. All the holidays that came along with it never felt real either. Christmas was dull and New Years was even worse. After spending the last 18 years of your life in a small hick town, it felt like no use to wish for some “better future”. You were damned from the start. Sure it was a new year, but it was the same old shit and you knew nothing was gonna change until you got out of this hell hole.
Just 6 more months of pretending, you’d tell yourself. 6 more months of bending over backwards to please your overbearing parents. 6 more months of mediocre sex with your shitty boyfriend that you weren’t even sure you liked. 6 more months of artificial conversations with your estranged friend group from middle school who claim to “not get you” anymore. But at this point, as every little thing ate away at you, you weren’t sure if you could keep up your act for much longer. Especially tonight, where you’d be faced with the challenge of appeasing all 3.
December 31st, 9:00pm:
Adorned in a matching set of mint green pjs you sat patiently on your bed waiting for the go-ahead. Like clockwork, your parents gave a small knock and pushed open your door from its cracked position. It always annoyed you how they knocked, pretending to respect your privacy while simultaneously enforcing a “no closed doors” rule. You thought at 18 they would’ve let it go, but no.
“Well hun, me and your mother are heading out now. We don’t expect to be back till the morning… Ya know, just to be safe while taking part in all the ‘festivities’.” Your dad chuckled, throwing up some air quotes. Your mom stood deadpan waiting for him to wrap up his little bit before butting in.
“No plans for the evening, right?” She phrased her words like a question but you knew this was just her way of subtleing enforcing the stupid rules you’ve followed your whole life.
“Of course not momma. Probably just gonna watch Gilmore Girls reruns and then go to sleep before any fireworks start up.” You gestured to your pjs but your perfectly made bed said otherwise. See, you knew this little routine like the back of your hand. You knew just what to do and just what to say in order to lure your parents into a false sense of security. While they stood in the frame of your door wishing you a goodnight, your party clothes hung on the other side of it, just out of their view.
December 31st, 9:30pm:
A loud honking blared from just outside your bedroom window. You ushered the sheer curtains open and glared out at the little sedan sputtering in your driveway. Your hands ran down your face followed by a big sigh. It’s not like you didn’t know your boyfriend Jax was coming to pick you up for the new years party that night, you had planned it just days before. But unbeknownst to him, the only reason you reached out was because you didn’t have a ride and tonight was one of the few times your parents wouldn’t be around to police curfew.
You climbed into the passenger seat already cringing at the unidentifiable smell and litters of trash covering the floor. Forcing a smile to your face you greet the grimey boy sitting at the wheel with a wave.
“Come onnnn, not even a kiss? You must be real happy to see me, huh?” You grit your teeth, squeeze both eye’s shut, and lean in for a peck to appease his complaints.
“Of course I’m happy to see you babe.” This was a lie. Something you had become quite good at these past few years, even lying to yourself at times. The rest of the car ride was silent, leaving you to ponder this drudgery of a relationship. You weren’t quite sure when things shifted or if there was ever an attraction at all, but after a year together and college approaching you just decided to ride it out until the inevitable. And part of you recognized the same in him, so there was never any guilt about it.
December 31st, 9:45pm:
Alcohol was the first thing on your mind as soon as the car went into park. The door to the house was propped wide open, inviting in teens of the small town. Some top 10 hit boomed from a speaker nested in the main living area, not really your style—at least not sober. You scavenged the kitchen for a clean solo cup to designate as your own and began the journey to drunkenness. Jax followed in suit with a couple bottles of beer. The harsh burn in your throat lingered but the alcohol's effect was already beginning to take off the edge that was your life.
You attempted to initiate some conversation with the man who had brought you here but he was too busy texting to listen. So consumed with the glow of his screen, you couldn’t help but peek to see what was so interesting. As soon as you got a glimpse you wished you had been less nosey. His attention was not being stolen by a dumb Instagram reels, but actually, a long string of texts with a girl whose name you didn’t recognize. Your stomach pinged at his possible infidelity. Partly because he was your boyfriend but mostly because you’d spent months convincing yourself to like him, to stay with him, to be a good girlfriend—and he could care less. All this work and effort on your part was simply discarded with his unloyal behavior. It was all for nothing. But hey, maybe you were just drawing conclusions. It could just be a friend. Right?
December 31st, 10:15pm:
Jax had finally shifted his attention back to you before his screen lit up again causing you to retaliate in irritation. You swiped up the cracked device before he had the chance and began to scroll.
“Can’t you just silence it? What is soooo fucking importan-.” Your voice caught at the sight of flirty messages littering the screen.
“Are-are you fucking cheating on me?” You instantly questioned.
“Bro no! Give me my fucking phone back!”
“Who the fuck are you texting then? ‘Mary Jane’,” you spouted in a mocking tone, “no way is that someone's real name. You’ve gotta be kidding me.”
“It’s a joke between me and my cousin. Now would you chill?”
“Your cousin?? You call your cousin baby?? I mean, I knew this town was full of hicks but I didn’t know y’all were those kinds of hicks.” The alcohol was giving you a little too much courage as your taunting waded into dangerous territory.
“The fuck did you just say? Don’t fucking test me! Can’t even handle a couple shots without getting all crazy on me!!”
“Crazy?? I’m being fucking reasonable. Literally any other person would be bothered by this just as much as me.”
“You know what, just fuck off. We can talk when you stop being such a delusional bitch.” He then disappeared into the living room, landing onto the couch, leaving you alone with your anger.
December 31st, 10:30pm:
You stood idle, bubbling over with emotion, eye’s filling with tears when a wet sensation hit your upper lip. Its flow grew stronger and began to trickle onto your hands where your gaze was locked. Deep red stained your palms- a random nosebleed. It was like a sign from the universe. A sign that you weren’t crazy. In fact, you might be one of the only sane people in this whole damn town. Stuck in your reverie, blood continued to drip on your hands, your shirt, your lips- everywhere. That is until a kind eyed girl slipped you a dish towel to stop the flow.
“Uh hey, your nose is bleeding.” You snapped your head up finally acknowledging the moment in full.
“Shit thanks, sorry…” Your face went hot realizing how long you had been just standing still, letting the blood fall where it may. The heat doubled, spreading to your ears when you finally acknowledged the person who had witnessed the whole thing. Ellie Williams. You had never formally met but knew of her existence, as she had kind of a reputation around school. There wasn’t anything inherently bad about her (at least in your opinion), she just didn’t fit the mold of most residents in your town. Therefore, she was a target for people's prejudices, especially being the only out lesbian in your senior class. Despite everyone else’s thoughts, you really admired her. You wished you had that type of courage.
“It’s no problem…” the auburn haired girl glanced down deciding what to say next before lifting her gaze back up to you. “Not to be nosey, I know you don’t really know me, but like… are you okay?”
Head tilted back, you gave a nasally reply, “Oh me? Yeah, yeah uh- I’m okay”
“No offense but uh, you don’t look that okay.” she gestured to your bloody everything.
“Alright so I’m not okay, you got me.” You looked down to your now crimson stained blouse and scrubbed frantically at the chiffon material trying to reprimand the damage.
“Here, here– You can just take my flannel to cover it up, I promise I don’t mind.”
“Are you sure?” Before you could say anything else, Ellie was sliding the warm garment over your shoulders and guiding you into the arm holes. It was dark blue, in a faded plaid pattern, and smelled of pine and incense. The girl was now left barren in just her white tank– and all for you.
“Yeah of course.” She then took it a step further, buttoning you up. You watched as her dexterous fingers worked up from the bottom of the shirt to the top, brushing you at each maneuver. A little jab into the plush right under your naval, a swipe past your ribs, and a tap at your collarbones. The quick, unexpected interaction left you completely flustered and you weren’t quite sure why.
“Thank you.” was all you could say.
“Sooo… do you wanna talk about it?” At this point, Ellie was completely enamored with you from the way you handled yourself with Jax. She had this unusual feeling, a feeling like she needed to protect you. A feeling that you were different from most. Maybe you were even a little like her?
“Honestly, yeah. My friend Samara was supposed to be here tonight but I guess she decided not to show, and I’m starting to wish I didn’t either.”
“Well, if it’s worth anything, I’m glad you’re here. Come on now, follow me.” Ellie led the way to a set of stairs at the edge of the living room. You snaked right past the couch where Jax was drunkenly passed out, mumbling obscenities at his phone. Of course, he paid no mind to you. The idiot was too consumed with himself to even wonder if you were okay.
December 31st, 11:00pm:
You and the sweet girl sat on the rough carpeted step talking about everything under the sun. Ellie was the first person in a really long time who you felt you could be honest with.
“So you think he’s cheating on you?” she questions trying to clarify the few bits of dialogue she heard while watching from afar.
“I know he is. I’m not stupid.”
“I’m sure you’re not.” Ellie put her head down staring at the laces of her dirty converse. You felt so unreadable, making her unsure of how to proceed in the conversation. “So00, how do you feel about it all then?”
“I don’t know, I guess angry.” you answered with a remarkably solemn tone.
“What about… sad?”
Like second nature, you instantly thought of a less than honest answer until Ellie’s attentive green eyes brought you back to Earth.
“It feels like… I’m supposed to be sad, but I can’t. In a twisted, confusing way, I’m honestly kinda relieved. So fucking pissed, but relieved.” Ellie’s lids widened, this was an answer she wasn’t expecting at all–but one she was glad to hear.
“I can’t blame you, he does kinda seem like a piece of shit.”
“And his dick is small too.” you quipped, making Ellie chuckle under her breath.
“Maybe I’m reading into things, but… it seems like you never really liked this guy in the first place.”
You took a guilty pause before confirming, “Maybe…”
“So why haven’t you broken up with him?” Ellie was genuinely curious. She thought if it was her in the situation she definitely would’ve gotten rid of that Jax guy long, long ago. Who would wanna keep around a douche bag like that?
“Being with Jax felt convenient. He felt like my ticket to ‘normalcy’.” You put your head down in slight shame but continued the explanation. “I got so caught up in my image that I neglected how I actually felt. I was doing everything to please everyone but me.”  Ellie scooted in one inch to the left, now connecting your thighs and bringing in a sense of comfort.
“Trust me, I understand. This town is fucking ruthless.”
“God yeah, the things I’ve heard people say about you are seriously fucked up. I don’t know how you do it.” A beat of silence lingered as Ellie articulated her thoughts.
“I think… community. I mean, obviously most of the people at our school look down on me, but all it takes is one singular person to be right there with you and then things don’t feel so bad. I guess for me, I can’t imagine being anything but myself. Like completely myself.” The girl looked up from the hangnail she was picking at as she spoke and was met with your tear filled eyes. “Fuck, did I say something?”
Your hand shot up to quickly wipe away the floodgates threatening to fall, “No, no. It’s just that you’re right,” you stuttered, choking down another cry, “an-and, I wish I would've realized it sooner because these past 4 years have been like hell. I don’t wanna be the cookie cutter straight girl anymore. I just wanna be me.”
Ellie then placed a gentle hand to your knee and brought her eyes to meet your own, “And what might that be?”
“Gay. Like really fucking gay.” you said through teary-eyed laughs as Ellie joined in with her own hearty chuckle.
“Welcome to the club.” she said, sticking out a strong hand for you to shake. You grasped it tightly as her warm palm guided you up and down, her touch lingering just a little longer than the gesture itself. As you collected yourself you whipped out a small pocket mirror to touch up the smudged mascara littering your undereyes. Ellie admired in silence. She was in pure awe of your resilience, and when you were finished with your clean up, you turned back to realize what had just gone down.
“Fuck, I’m sorry for dumping all that on you considering we just met. It’s weird how things I’ve never even said out loud before can come out so easily around a stranger.”
Ellie nudges you with her shoulder, “I guess I just have that effect, huh?”
“I guess you do.” you sighed, nudging her back.
December 31st, 11:15pm:
The two of you continued your banter until a cold breeze from the back door gave Ellie a brilliant idea.
“Dare I say… you look like you need a blunt?” she said with a mischievous smirk.
“No, please. It's exactly what I need.”
Ellie then reached into the pocket of her baggy jeans, “I guess it’s your lucky day then.” she said, revealing the most perfectly wrapped blunt you’d ever seen.
“You’re actually god sent Ellie. How are we just now meeting?” The auburn-haired girl gave a small laugh before grabbing your hand and leading you to the backyard. As she pushed the white panel door open, every single ounce of weight that had been lifted off from that one singular conversation, all came crashing back down. Ellie and you weren’t the only ones who adventured outside into the brisk night air. Right on the porch stood Jax, accompanied by your “friend” Samara, who up until this point you didn’t even think was coming. The piece of shit was practically sucking her face off before the creaking sound of the back door sent them 5 feet apart.
“I knew it! I fucking knew it!” you yelled, eyes growing dark with rage. Ellie just stood and watched from the corner.
“Babe, please! I swear it’s not what you think!” Jax stumbled forward, attempting to grasp at your figure.
“Don’t you dare try and touch me! You don’t even deserve to look at me. It’s over Jax. I’m done being suffocated by your never ending bullshit!” Knuckles clenched, you continued your lashings, this time at Samara. “I-I thought we were friends. What happened to that?”
“You don’t even like him. You should be thanking me.” she spat.
“You really don’t get it, huh? This has nothing to do with me liking Jax or not, you completely betrayed our friendship the second you started fucking him behind my back. Friends don’t fuck each other boyfriends Samara!” Before she could even respond Jax was dragging her away, flipping you off on the way inside.
“Ellie-” you squeaked, trembling in shock.
“Come here, it’s okay love.” she whispered, parting her arms to make a safe space just for you. You collapsed into the warm cavity and relinquished the buckets of tears you had been saving for the moment someone actually gave a fuck. And Ellie did. She never let go of you even for a second as you crumbled under her.
“Jeez I’m sorry.” you said after minutes of pure silence, lifting your head to meet Ellie’s green eyes.
“For what?”
“For being a drunk mess, crying to you about a man, and also, I think I got a little snot on your shirt.” you tried to laugh it off but you really just wanted to disappear.
Taking your face in her palms Ellie reassured you, “hey, hey no need to be sorry pretty girl. You’ve been through a lot tonight. Besides, I think I look kinda good with this huge ass wet spot in the middle of my tank top. What do you think?” You stepped back and took a look at the damage, and honestly, she was kinda right. With the white cotton material you could see right through to her toned stomach, barely missing the bottom of her breasts.
“Fine, yes. I’m sure there’s plenty of girls who’d kill to see you in a wet shirt Ellie.”
“Lucky you then.” she said, playfully nudging your shoulder.
You couldn’t help it as the corners of your mouth turned upwards, “Yeah, I guess so.”
“There’s that smile. Soooo… blunt now?”
“Yes. Blunt.”
December 31st, 11:30pm:
And just like that, you were halfway through the chestnut wand of herbs and deep in conversation.
“So you really haven't seen But I’m a Cheerleader?” Ellie asked, blowing out a puff of smoke with the question and passing it on.
You took the blunt from between her fingers and let it rest between your own, “No. Should I have?”
“Definitely dude, it’s like queer classic.”
“Oh yeah?” You cocked your head at the freckled faced girl.
“Yeah. And now that I’m thinking about it, you’re honestly just like the main character.”
“How so?” you asked, taking another long draw.
“She’s in denial about being gay for like the first 30 minutes of the movie.”
A string of coughs unleashed from your chest as you let out a hefty laugh mid-inhale, “Bitch-”
“What? I’m being so deadass!”
“Fine, what character are you then?” you pry, passing the lit blunt back over to Ellie.
Taking a hit she replies, “I guess I’d be graham.”
“And what does she do?”
“I’m kinda like your awakening in a sense. Graham is all gay and cool, and of course Megan—that's you—totally falls for her.”
You retrieve the lit cannabis and roll your eyes, “I haven’t fallen for you yet Williams.”
“Yet.” she emphasizes, placing a soft finger to the tip of your nose tauntingly.
“Ha. Ha.” you monotonously mock, “Now here, I think it’s done.” You hand Ellie the roach and she promptly stubs it out into the concrete slab deck.
“Come on, let’s go inside. I’m fucking cold.” she pleas.
“Dude I’m scared. Like I am way too fucked up for this.”
“No, no– I promise you’re fine. I’ll protect you.”
“Fineee.” you drag out.
December 31st, 11:50pm:
Things were seemingly fine as you and Ellie entered the muggy living area of the packed house once more. Your hesitancy was quite clear though and Ellie could sense you needed just a little reassurance. Your right hand, currently picking away at the hangnail on the thumb of your left, was quickly captured by Ellies own rough hand which led you back to your comfortable spot on the ascending stair set.
As you both took a seat your grip remained tight on the girl, afraid that if you let go you might jump up from your spot right then and there just to give Jax one more lesson. Just the sight of him through the slats of the stairs’ wooden railing—legs casually spread wide and eyes focused in on a casual game of Mortal Kombat—drove you fucking crazy.
“Dude if you keep staring like that you might actually burn a hole through his dumb ass T-shirt.” Ellie said, nudging your tensed shoulder.
“Good it’s ugly anyways.”
“Fair point.”
“I just have this burning need to get back at him. I wanna beat his ass just like in that game he can’t take his eyes off.”
Ellie rolled her eyes, “Very funny, but you wouldn’t hurt a fly.”
“Oh yeah?” you questioned before laying a soft punch to the girl's forearm. A string of dramatic “Ows” reverberated from her lips. “See, I’m a badass right?”
“Fine you’re a total badass” she agreed begrudgingly, rubbing the soft tissue of her arm where you had left your mark.
“What? It hurt that bad? You need me to kiss it better?” you taunted.
“Maybe I do.” she said, longing eyes staring into your own.
You gulped down any hesitation and felt it drop straight to your nervous stomach, “Where does it hurt?”
Ellie pointed to her arm slowly, “here.”
You placed a soft peck.
Hot breath raising goosebumps to the surface of her skin, “and here”, she gestured to her outstretched neck
Another supple kiss.
“And um-” she continued, but was quickly cut off and brought back to reality with the bellowing sound of a countdown. Too caught up in the moment, you both had almost forgotten about the holiday currently taking place.
FIVE… FOUR… THREE… TWO…
“Can I kiss you?” she blurted frantically, and with no words you dove into her plump, chapped lips. Just like a puzzle piece your bottom lip slotted perfectly between her own. It was a gentle and delicate kiss at first, drinking in the euphoric moment. Quickly though, soft maneuvers of the mouth got quicker and harder. Spit was exchanged with passion and need, as your hands were becoming grabby at the girl's toned figure. The heat growing between your legs was an easy distraction from the fact that you were at a large party, in a hick town, with your ex-boyfriend now hovering over your more than friendly exchange.
January 1st, 12:01am:
“The fuck? You’re a dyke now?” he yells, practically loud enough for the whole party to hear. You and Ellie frantically pull apart, bumping heads in the process.
The calloused hands that were once caressing the small of your back are now balled into tight fists as Ellie rises from her seated position.
“The fuck did you just say?” she questions, tilting her head to the right.
You now stand up with her, worried where this might go, “Jax you need to walk away.”
“Oh shut up slut. You’re so fucking desperate you’d do it with anyone!”
That one hurt. That was the tipping point. Tears welled in your eyes.
“I’M NOT A FUCKING SLUT! I’M GAY AND NEVER LIKED YOU IN THE FIRST PLACE!”
“You need to leave now before I do something I’ll regret, you dirty bitch.” he threatens. And that's it, Ellie takes a swing aiming straight for his nose. Her fist retracts and reveals his bloody and now crooked cartilage. Through clenched teeth Jax grips onto Ellies white tank, throwing her into the open space of the living room. Just like a car crash, it’s one of those things where a scene can be so disturbing but you just can’t look away. And everyone else in the room was feeling it too—backed into corners, hands over mouths, some men even obnoxiously chanting “fight, fight.” But this isn’t what you wanted. Not at all.
“STOP! YOU NEED TO FUCKING STOP IT!” you screamed desperately. You didn’t even want to imagine what Jax would do to the freckled girl who changed your life in mere hours. But you didn’t have to, because here they were, brawling it out for the whole school. Jax swung at Ellie’s head to which she ducked before jabbing him in the stomach, stealing whatever air was swimming in his lungs. He stumbled backwards 3 steps, coughing through the hit, but this just made him angrier.
He charged back at the flustered girl with more force and gained a grip on a wad of choppy auburn hair. With a forceful yank she came tumbling to the ground with him on top. Ellie wriggled, pushed, and kicked but the sheer weight of the furious man was enough to keep her pinned. Jax began punching left and right, capturing her face with each blow. Thick crimson decorated his knuckles and the entirety of the girl's face. You could barely make out her litter of freckles and the half-lidded slits of emerald green—it was blood, all blood.
But as Jax kept on going, and the room grew quieter, this fight turned into something much more serious. It was inching on life or death and you had to do something. You surveyed the room, eyes dancing from counter to counter until a large glass beer bottle nagged at the tips of your fingers. Grabbing it tightly in your fist, you did what you had to to end this. Glass and gasps scattered through the room. The sharp brown shards littered the floor and evoked a gushing red stream from the back of Jax’s head. He instantly rolled to the side leaving Ellie an opening to escape. You weren’t done yet though, he hadn’t gotten what he deserved yet. Falling to the floor right at his body, hot tears streamed down your face.
Through curses and screams you thrashed at the man's barely conscious frame, “FUCK YOU JAX! FUCK YOU!” This was for every time he made you feel stupid, for making you feel like the ugliest girl in the room, for all the times he kissed you while you just prayed for it to be over, for making your life a living hell. With each scratch, punch, and kick all the pent up anger and resentment drained from your soul. Ellie let you have at him for a bit but as the crowd started to thin she knew the cops would be here any second now.
“Come on! We gotta go hun!” she nagged.
“NO I CAN’T! NOT YET” you yelled, collapsing down into tears. Ellie promptly scooped you up by your armpits and dragged you from Jax’s limp body.
“I know baby, you're angry, it’s hard. But the cops are coming and we need to leave now.” she said, picking you up completely and carrying you through the frame of the propped open front door. You nestled your head into her bloody top as your chest still rapidly rose up and down, choking on the last few streams of tears and snot. “I’m gonna get you home love, don’t you worry.”
January 1st, 12:15am:
Finally through the small window of Ellie’s red truck you spot your familiar 2 story home. She grips the steering wheel, whipping to the right into the empty driveway. Of course she helps you inside and up to your quaint little bedroom. It felt weird almost—so quiet and still after such a chaotic night—and void of any life but you and the freckled faced girl. It was a cold feeling knowing you’d be all alone in just a few minutes, and tonight, you weren’t sure if that was a feeling you wanted to know.
“Els?”
“Yeah?” she answered softly.
“Can you stay?”
With a kiss to the head she agreed, “Of course I’ll stay.” The rest of the night was spent cuddled up under your warm comforter, and despite all the events from just hours before, you felt safe. And for once, in fucking years, you were content.

This is just ridiculous. Eddie had laughed unbelievably hard when you'd had that initial moment of panic, that tug to try and get out only to be met with unbroken resistance. That alone was enough for you to huff and kick at him, and throw a mediocre punch in the direction of his crotch when he had come around the other side to check your situation there--no attempts to get you out though, just laughter and teasing touches of your hair before he went back around.
You'd just wanted to help him and his roommates with renovations--they wanted to knock down a wall between two bedrooms to make one larger one, for whatever reason, it struck you as a little weird considering there were four people living in one house. And Harrington's house might be big, but not four singles with their own bedrooms big....at least, you don't think so, but what do you know? That one hole just ruined it, though. You'd tried to be funny, ran at it with your hammer outstretched to joust through the first chunk of drywall--and then you went straight through both sides, your lower half still in the room you started in while everything above the waist is hanging out in the next. Fucking dingus.
You were just trying to be funny. Well, no, you were just trying to ease the tension. Eddie's been your best friend since freshman year, you've been through thick and thin together and you swore to always stay friends no matter what. But then all that stuff with earthquake happened last year, and the bounty hunt for his head, and you were suddenly the only person in Hawkins who didn't want him dead--and you were the only one to mourn him when you thought he was, aside from Wayne, of course. Only for him to come back with a new friend group, a new attitude, new scars, and.....you felt left behind, honestly. Hellfire and the band didn't feel the same after that, and when he moved in here with all his new friends, you just felt so abandoned that you did something stupid.
You got really, really drunk one night, called him up, and told him you loved him. Not friend love, either, not something you could brush off--you spilled your guts out to him, told him you always wanted to kiss him and how you dreamed about touring the world with him, how you wanted to marry him, and you think you told him you wanted his babies, but that part is where it gets fuzzy. And he said nothing, the line had been so silent that you mumbled an apology for calling the wrong number and hung up. You knew what you had done in the morning, though, when Eddie was throwing pebbles at your window and trying to get you to talk to him, which you declined, thinking through tears that it was time for you to finally just let him move on like he obviously wanted to. But the week after that--last week, exactly six days ago--you had been invited to this very house for a smoke and a drink, a celebratory one to warm the house even though they moved in like two months ago. And you went, because fuck it, what else did you have to lose?
As a woman scorned with unrequited love and slowly dwindling friendship, you had obviously taken the opportunity to get fucking wasted as soon as you possibly could. The others had followed your lead too, they were surprisingly fun people despite their reputations, so it wasn't long before you were laughing and chattering away like there wasn't a shred of awkwardness between you all--like you didn't hold any resentment towards him or his new friends for taking him away from you. You kinda lost all that when you started drunkenly making out with his friend Robin, so faded from the world that you didn't even register the fact that none of them were jeering or wolf whistling at you kissing another girl. You knew even then that, even though you were in the midst of convincing yourself that this was just spite and you were doing it to piss Eddie off, you really liked it--and that hadn't been a surprise, you knew you liked women and Eddie knew that too.
But it escalated when you started pulling at her clothes, and when you started kissing Steve, and then when you moved on to sit in Nancy's lap--and before you knew it, you were in the middle of the most hazy group sex of your life, nothing but pure ecstasy running through your body the whole night until you passed out. Waking up next to Eddie the next morning had been a moment of temporary bliss, but you remembered it all pretty quick, and grabbed your shit before practically running out of the house and not bothering to ask questions. Though you'd sat in your car for at least ten minutes with your head in your hands, recalling every second of what you had felt.....how Eddie had whispered such sweet things to you as you made love, how his touch had burned wherever he grazed you, how he kissed you like he was just as in love with you as you are with him......but also how his friends had touched you; how sweet they had been, how unusually tender they were with your body, how they stroked your hair and cuddled you after they had finished making you scream each individual name into the ceiling. It wasn't.....normal. It wasn't how you were used to being treated, it wasn't how your average hookups went--where they would fuck you, get their rocks off, and leave you when they finished if they made you finish at all. Or worse, when you'd find a girl you really liked, you'd have sex, and then she'd bounce right back to whatever boyfriend she had lined up so she could say she did it with a chick. Those were the worst.
Being stuck in the wall of the house where you fucked your best friend's friends, though? That's pretty bad, too.
"Goddamn it, Eddie, just break the wall around me! It's not hard, a fucking monkey could do it by now." You hiss, face burning with embarrassment at humiliating yourself for the umpteenth time.
"Nah. Enjoying the view too much, plus, you did this to yourself....hey, are these new?"
You're not too sure what he's referring to--until his fingertips graze your lower back, and he hooks his thumb into the strap of your thong that's peeking out. It's black, and soft....it's what Eddie likes, so it stings even harder when he snaps it back against your skin after pulling it taut.
"Stop fucking teasing me, Eddie. You're being a huge dick."
"And why am I being a dick?" He asks from the other side of the wall. You can huff as much as you like, but you're not getting out of this anytime soon, so you have no choice but to be honest.
"It's a dick move to lead a girl on. Especially when you're just....just dangling it over my head." You sigh in defeat, slumping over the wall and letting your arms hang limply. "And don't ask what. You know what."
"....You mean sex, right? You wanna have sex with me?"
God, you could just groan at his bluntness--not just because he's oblivious, but because it's making you fucking wet as it always does.
"Obviously."
"Eddie! Not fucking now, you idiot! Your roommates-" He spanks you again, rings leaving a pleasurable sting that lasts long after, and makes you bite your lip to keep from squealing and giving him the satisfaction. You just stomp your feet instead, heels raised off the floor that's still covered in a sheet of plastic to catch the debris.
There's a bit of shuffling behind you, an unusual silence from Eddie that you're not used to. You swear you can feel him brush by your ass, but you must be imagining it.....until you're not.
"Oh, that's good news....real good news, sweetheart." He mutters almost too quietly for you to hear, before his hand comes down hard on your ass and you suck in a gasp, arching up immediately with your hands grasping at the wall beneath you.
"My roommates are my partners, and they think you're a fucking sex goddess."
"Shut up--ah! E-Eddie!" You shake your head, hair flicking all about, but it isn't stopping Eddie from reaching around and unzipping your pants for you--and when he gets them down your legs, he moans out loud at the sight that he's rewarded with.
"Fucking Christ....listen, they like you, and I've been in love with you since I was, like, fourteen--shit! S-Since we lost our virginities to each other.." You do remember that time, tenth grade--you were fifteen, but you're not gonna correct him right now--when you were such good friends you made a pact to take each other's virginity. That was when you were such good friends that it felt like nothing else mattered, and now.....now, years later, you're finally turning into something else.
He doesn't even bother playing around with the thin piece of fabric stretched over your cunt, he's too eager to just pull it down your hips with those rough fingers. You can tell he's on his knees by the breath on your thigh, and the almost tender way he spreads you out with his thumbs to look--he obviously didn't get enough out of the last time you hooked up, and it's a good enough thought that you find it in you to chuckle about it. You relax a little bit, finally, and he must be able to see it if his "fuck, baby" is any tell.
"You fuck like a virgin, Eddie." A smirk flickers across your face, confidence filling you back up now that your best friend's attention is on you again. "Desperate and clingy. And...cute. So damn cute."
"I am desperate. Anyone who sees a pussy like this'd get fucking desperate." He presses a gentle kiss to your inner thigh, slowly trailing them up your skin with his hands ghosting over your thighs to hold each one. You only twinge a bit in pain when he bites a mouthful of your flesh, sucking on it til it aches before he lets it go with a pop. He seems to stop there for a while, but he's close, that pretty mouth poised so near to your bare pussy that you have to force down the urge to beg--but just when you seriously consider doing so, Eddie gives you an experimental lick, and you jerk so hard you swear a new crack forms in the wall. Then another, and another.....each one slow, and maddeningly soft, barely testing the waters and just getting a taste, yet it's making you drool and you can't stop yourself from pulsing down there. Eddie noses your clit and pays it a few special kisses, but then he's done and you're muffling your own whines with both hands clamped over your mouth. You know from last week that he's fucking good at eating pussy, and he knows it, which is exactly why he won't let you have it like you did last time. Too fucking cocky for his own good, and it's so goddamn sexy.
"Listen, I...I just gotta let you know," He mutters as he stands and unbuckles his belt, the frantic clicking only mildly distracting you from what he's trying to say. "I didn't pull away for no reason, I--I was trying to protect you, cause I-"
"Oh, Eddie, for god's sake, just fuck me!" You call over your shoulder, frustrated and horny and....fuck it, you're desperate, desperate for your most treasured friend in the world to screw your damn brains out. And he just chuckles, cock finally freed for him to tap it against your asscheek.
"Alright...alright, it can wait. I had a reason, that's all you need to know. Now, no more fucking around. You're mine." As he says it, he angles himself down to massage your lips with the tip, dragging it up and down through your slick before slowly feeding it into you. He's trying to be nice, but you're just too wet, and Eddie hiccups and chokes on his own gasp when your hips move and you swallow him in like you're just desperate for him to get on with it.
"Like that, huh?" He slaps the side of your ass, eyes trained on the way it jiggles around him and ears perked to hear your whining. Eddie doesn't have to try to get deeper, doesn't have to strain to be rougher--he's just perfect as he is, cock curving up to put pressure on that weak spot that's making you shake. "Better than fucking some jock, right?"
It is. Eddie's better than any guy you've ever hooked up with; more attentive, more creative, more....sizeable. You might have had bigger on some occasions but never so skilled to match, never someone who you'd be begging to move inside you like you are right now. And because Eddie's a nice, attentive, reliable guy, he obeys that plea--and he doesn't start slow, he rears back and fucking plows you like he's trying to push you right through the wall, and he might. His hips bash yours so hard on the down thrust you can feel parts of the broken plaster crumbling around you, but it doesn't make it any looser for you to wiggle through, and thank god it doesn't. This is what you wanted, and you have no shame in screaming that for the world to hear, for everyone to know that you're taking Eddie Munson's dick and you love it more than life itself.
"I love how fucking loud you are. Make the neighbors jealous, honey." You can feel that smug grin from across the wall, one hand possessively squeezing your ass while the other's hooked around your bent waist to keep you steady against him. The constant thwap thwap thwap of his hips meeting your ass and his balls kissing your underside is so echoey, you aren't even paying attention to the door opening on your side and don't notice the person standing there until she sucks in a gasp.
Your head swiveling to look, you lock eyes with Robin--that adorable girl that made love like summer rain--and see that she's empty-handed, hand hovering over her mouth while her face explodes into a rosy-red blush. Curious, you think, and your ditzy smile gives her an idea of exactly what kind of mood you're in as you beckon her over, to which she complies quite hastily. You raise two fingers to your mouth and spread them in a 'v', the gesture earning you a pair of lust-blown eyes and a soft smile crossing her features as she moves to unbutton her pants in front of you, obviously having missed your touch from last week. As she should, you liked her so much from the first meeting that you'd been determined to make her see stars when you were done.
"That all you got, big boy? Or are you just a huge dick and nothing else?" You call over your shoulder, shooting her a wink while you reach your hands up to help her out of those bothersome clothes. The confidence is staggering you a little bit, the feeling of Eddie stirring up your guts a familiar one, and it's homey, almost--but it kicks up when you feel him stroke a place you weren't sure he'd be into touching, at least not before that last encounter when you'd woken up in his bed the morning after.
"Eddie! Eddie, fuck, that--f-fuck, that's sensitive-!" He spits on your asshole and rubs it in with his thumb, pressing it in just hard enough until it pops right in and sends your eyes rolling to the back of your head--right when Robin's got her panties down too, and you grab her by the hips to move her towards you, tongue stuck out to meet her clit in a near-feral swirl. Robin's knees buckle almost instantly, and she has to brace her hands on your head out of instinct just to keep herself upright, although it also means she accidentally shoves you down to lick her up even deeper.
"Yeah? Still sensitive after Harrington fucked it raw? Kept touchin' yourself when you watched him fuck me, ass already full of his cum....you know how fucking dirty you get when you're sloshed?" You remember that too, now--shamelessly palming your tits as Nancy nursed on your clit, your eyes zeroed in on Steve driving his cock in and out of your best friend for you to enjoy. He'd been too happy to do the same to you, and fill your head with dirty admissions of what he'd do to you if he had all the time in the world, but it was a different experience to watch him bend Eddie over and take him from behind. You felt filthy for watching it all the way through, and even filthier for letting Eddie eat Steve's cum out of you with Nancy when he was done.
You break off for a moment from your partner's body, breaths heaving. "You like it." Before diving right back in, moaning into a mouthful of Robin's pussy.
"I love it," His incessant bucking grows harder, the hand once being used to steady you now occupied with stroking your clit in messy circles. "Love watching you get all stupid and slutty when you've got a drink in you....you and Buckley were so cute..." Eddie moans, and you hum into Robin's clit in a knowing way that has her fingering her way through your hair, clearly trying to be gentle but so lost in pleasure that she's keeping your head static between her legs. Huffing soft breaths and whimpers that Eddie wouldn't be able to hear, grinding forward against the flat of your tongue to get that coveted ecstasy lapped into her clit.
"Always fucking wished I was one of those guys, knockin' on your trailer after dark....came in so many damn socks listening to you get fucked..." That's a new one, you've never heard about that. But it makes sense, now--the way he always seemed to avert his gaze the morning after one of your hookups, when you'd waltz into his trailer to have breakfast together with a pleasant glow and a satisfied smile. Thinking about Eddie rubbing himself raw with the window open as he listened to you getting your guts pumped....oh, if your face wasn't buried in between Robin's legs, you'd have the biggest smirk right then and there.
"An' now you're balls deep," You pant, pulling off of her one more time just to get an adorable whine out of her. "Made me so wet when you got that pout on your face, when you were jealous."
That almost immediately earns you a smack, not on the ass, but on the clit--and the aching, burning sting makes your pussy clamp down on him in a vice grip, your hair sticking to your face with a fresh wave of sweat as he keeps brutalizing your most sensitive spot with the palm of his hand....and it's so fucking good you could just melt right there.
"Yeah? Hear how wet you are now, angelface? Soaking wet for the freak?" He's right--for once, you can hear the sloshing and shucking of your own cunt gushing for him, your body responding to his treatment with no aid from your own hand or an active imagination. With your thumbs spreading Robin's sticky cunt apart, you look up to watch her whimper into her hand as the cool air hits her sensitive areas, before choking on her own moan as you shove your face back between her legs with your tongue outstretched. Your hands come up to grab at her ass, poor cheeks dug into with little crescent-shaped nail marks as you trap her against your lips to suck her clit into your mouth, her hips jostling you as she chases the pleasure with both hands firmly grasping the back of your head.
"Drenching my fucking balls, lucky there's plastic down....you gonna squirt for me again, huh?" He spanks you again, and maybe he can hear how muffled your squeals are from having a mouthful of his girlfriend-roommate's pussy, but you don't fucking care. Even less so when Eddie makes a noisy show of sucking his middle finger into his mouth, before he presses it right up against that empty hole he was teasing and working it all the way inside, his spit making short work of any resistance your body might have had. Your hips jerk at the filthiness of it, as well as the ache he stirs back up that you remember from the last time--god, you swear you can still feel his roommate's monster of a cock splitting your asshole open, and when Eddie spits again to lube you up more, you're left completely at the mercy of his assault on all three sides as you feel that familiar rush of heat churn in the very deepest pit of your stomach. "Make a fucking mess for me, sweetheart. Then I'll come around and let you lick my balls clean." He moans, and with his cock bruising your inner walls as they cling to him on every thrust, and Robin riding your face to kingdom come as her cunt starts spasming with an orgasm she can't hold back, you just let go completely and mumble out a myriad of frantic cries as your brain muddles into a whited-out void of pleasure--and as you do, Eddie's finger hooks inside your ass to bring you all the way down to the base as you feel that release of fluid burst out and spray indiscriminately all over his lap.
"Shit! Damn, fuckin' gushing for me, you're so fucking gorgeous--ohh, that's a big one, isn't it angel?" His tone has a twinge of mockery to it, shakily pulling out but keeping both hands where they still work, so he can no doubt stand back and watch your pussy continue to weep and gush out that clear fluid all over the plastic-protected floor. His other hand moves clear to see the stream properly but he keeps it on your clit, arm curved around the underside of your belly to keep rubbing more out of you even when there's black edges to your vision and you can't even keep up with Robin's orgasm--you just let her yank your head by the hair and hump your face, unable to keep down her gasps as she spasms and clenches around nothing but rides out that endless pleasure on your flexing tongue.
When she finally manages to stumble back, and breaks that constant assault on her nethers that she definitely thought might melt her brain to mush, you're left panting and starry-eyed with a sticky face, your hair matted down with sweat and slick as you try to let yourself come back down to earth. Your ears barely register Eddie coming around to the other room, but when he appears there in all his half-naked glory, all three sets of eyes widen when he gets a look at the sight waiting for him.
"Buckley?"
Meek and shy now that she's not having her pussy eaten, she just waves, still breathing heavy and hunched over to brace her hands on her knees. But annoyance is not the emotion etched into his face, especially not when he clicks his tongue and moves over to where you're still stuck, a hand soon fisting itself in your hair to yank your sagging head up and get a look at the state of you.
"Ohh, I see....angel here was helping herself, huh? Eating up like a fucking dog?" Robin nods, letting out a soft laugh like she can't actually believe she just did what she did. Maybe it's remorseful, and that stings a little bit....but the feeling isn't dwelled on too long, when Eddie guides his achingly stiff, dripping wet cock towards your mouth, and smirks from above you as he taps it against your lower lip. "There's your bone, pup."
In one long stroke, he splits your lips apart and tests the boundaries of your throat as he squeezes himself all the way to the back of it, the instinctual clench down around him giving him the go-ahead to start moving. He's slow at first, attentive, wanting to warm you up, but you're not that inexperienced and you show him exactly how ready you are by sucking him off so hard he flinches, and snaps his hips forward so suddenly he breaches an even deeper spot that he didn't even think was possible. Eddie keeps thrusting harder, chasing his own pleasure with only a casual interest in your comfort--it's exactly how you like it, head pinned to his hips and throat bulging like you're in Alien.
But then, like a fairy breezing by your skin in the middle of a quiet wood, Robin's fingers brush a few errant strands of hair from your face, and she kneels by the wall you're still a prisoner of to start kissing up and down your jaw to the shell of your ear. Whispering sweet words that drown out the shucking of Eddie resizing your throat to fit his girth, showering you with much-deserved praise that has you spilling and leaking down your legs all over again, like you didn't just squirt so hard you probably soaked the whole floor of the other room.
"Look at you, pretty girl, taking Eddie so well." She croons, grazing her touches over the bulge of your throat as it sinks and stretches, inadvertently causing Eddie to groan as he's stroked off in an even more intense way. "I've never cum that hard in my life, all thanks to this gorgeous mouth. You make love like an angel, baby."
Her voice feels so smooth in your ear, presses down any of those ugly thoughts you might have been keeping in, and makes your mind go so fuzzy again that it doesn't even hurt--the ache in your jaw just kind of simmers down, and the serene relaxation you feel opens up an even deeper path for Eddie to blaze down that has him humping your mouth more erratically than ever, crying out that he's gonna cum, he's gonna cum for you, fuck, he's cumming baby he can't hold back-
"Th-That's it--take it all, swallow, don't think too much about it....just drink it, kay? S'good for you." He moans down at you as he slows to a crawling stop, hips jolting once or twice with an especially good shot of cum, but otherwise he spills into your throat at a feverish pace that matches how good he fucked you from behind. Robin sucks a bruise into your neck, shaking from reciting those dirty words she had memorized to say to you, and gingerly strokes that poor skin of yours to ease the flow of Eddie's cum down into your belly. Warm. Everything's so warm, and while you feel an overwhelming urge to pass out as soon as Eddie unhinges himself from your mouth, a smack of your lips together reignites that bitter taste of cum that instantly has you alert and squirming again for more affection. You don't want it to end yet--please, don't end too soon again.
"Forget the big bedroom--we should leave the glory hole, make it a permanent fixture." He smirks, and squats down to look you in those glazed, hazy eyes. He can see it, see that neediness in you again, made only stronger with Robin sweetly stroking your hair as she fixes her clothes back to normal. The thud of a car door slamming shut has his head swiveling to glance over his shoulder towards the window, curls bouncing back and forth again when he turns his attention back to you. "Now, I need a piss, and a smoke. You wanna come out, or you wanna wait for the others to find you? I heard their car pull up just now."
Now you can hear the distant sounds of the front door opening and closing, shoes being kicked off, Nancy's voice reminding Steve to leave his dirty sneakers on the mat. The heat stirs up again as you remember the last time you saw them....
"Steve's gonna want to have a turn, so's Nancy. Think you can handle all that?" Though you've gotten your release and gotten it good, it still feels like there's something churning up inside you, like there's a pressure in your groin that you need to relieve and it's burning the longer you go without stimulation. You want it bad, so bad, and a whine has Eddie getting to his feet with his hands braced on his knees for balance. "Ah, forgot. Can't relax unless you cum hard enough to pass out, can you?"
You hum in agreement and it induces a chuckle out of your best friend, who while rosy-cheeked and has a look of satisfaction about his glowing skin, seems like he doesn't yet want to leave you even though he needs a bit of time to cool off. "Alright, I'll be back. I love you." He ruffles your hair and kisses the top of your head, before readjusting himself and heading out the door as Robin finally gets back up herself. Even the thought of being alone right now has you wriggling where you're still stuck, but the thumping footsteps climbing the staircase draw that desire back up into your throat.
"Sweet. I, uh....I love you, baby. See you soon."
"You need anything, sweetness?" You shake your head, looking up at Robin with pure, glimmery eyes that don't betray how eager you are to get used as a cumdump for the second time. "Okay. I promise Nancy and Steve'll get you out when you're done, so don't worry. Come sleep in my bed after, okay?"
She's so nice. So sweet. She's your partner now, huh? That's what Eddie said he wanted, and what they wanted, and he wasn't all that clear about it but Eddie's never really that transparent when it comes to his feelings....at least when they're about you. Or maybe you're just not used to his directness being so honest and from the heart, so you don't know whether to take it all as truth or not. But Robin really looks like she's feeling the same as she fixes herself up, nervously fluffs her hair before she fidgets with her belt and swings around to head towards the door. Maybe you could get her to stay....but Steve and Nancy are almost here, and you can bet she needs a little break after you blew her mind. Heh. You really did, didn't you? You really made her feel so good she wants to stay, and that's just....well, it's a first. A really, really, really nice first.

a/n: AHHHHH hello!! I’m Lottie and I've been so horrifically obsessed with dealer Ellie that it's not even remotely okay. I had an idea for a fic and instead of requesting it from someone else, I decided why not write it myself! I’ve never posted any fics before bc I’m lowkey ass at writing so if any dialogue is awkward or the grammar is bad I'm so sorry :(  Anyhoo, I hope you enjoy it, have a great day I love you ♡    part 2
I kinda modeled the reader after me subconsciously, so the reader is a bit shy and bi (sorry to my lesbian baddies I luv yall, its only one line). Also, I just made up a random roommate named Sam, very sorry if your name happens to be Sam.
Summary: After being dragged to a party by your roommate, you escape out to the porch for some air. Not realizing it was already occupied, you end up having a lot more fun at the party than you thought you would
warnings: language, modern!au, dealer!ellie, weed, shotgunning, collage!au, things get the tiniest bit spicy (only a tad)
wc: 1.6k
-------------------
The music pounded in your ears as you pushed past all the sweaty bodies in the middle of the room. Parties had never quite been your scene, but Sam had begged you to come with her and that girl does NOT take no for an answer
This all started with Sam bursting into your shared dorm, ripping your headphones out of your ears, and standing beside your desk with her hands on her hips. “Bitch, you never come out with me! It's like all you do is sit in the dorm all day, you gotta get out there!!” She excitedly screamed, pulling you to your closet to pick out what you should wear.
You and Sam had been randomly paired as roommates but quickly got close despite how different the two of you seemed to be. Sam was always out at parties being social and seemed to know absolutely everyone on campus. You on the other hand... well were almost the exact opposite. You always joked that you were like the crotchety old man of your floor who only left for food or class, and just wants all those damn kids to quiet down while you’re trying to sleep.
“Sigma Nu is throwing tonight, you HAVE to come with me. I’ll be lost without you please please please!”
Sam was, in fact, not lost without you. She had practically ditched you the minute some frat boy asked her to play pong with him, leaving you alone and painfully sober in a sea of drunk college kids. As much as you loved Sam, she always seemed to do this whenever you come out with her. She’d beg that it wouldn't be fun without you but would leave as soon as you got there and you’d be stuck on babysitting detail for her drunk ass for the rest of the night. After about the fifth push and second drunk couple not noticing you leaned up against the wall and making out basically on top of you, you decided to leave in search of some desperately needed air. Weaving through sweaty drunk people should be a fucking Olympic sport because holy shit- you barely escaped with your life. After going through the kitchen, you finally found your way to a sliding door, quickly getting it open and stepping out into the cool night air.
“Jesus christ why did I fucking come here,” you say under your breath, leaning against the porch railing and putting your head in your hands “And I can't even leave because I have to make sure Sam’s okay- god damn it”. Scrubbing your face with your hands, you look up at the sky and get lost in your own head until the sound of someone clearing their throat startles you.
You quickly whip around, hand on your chest, to look at the other person who has also been occupying the porch without your noticing. A girl with short auburn hair and beautiful green eyes stands leaning up against the house. Her face is dotted with freckles and she’s wearing a comfy-looking flannel over a plain white tee, one hand shoved into the pocket of her jeans and the other holding a joint between two fingers. She is, without a doubt, one of the prettiest girls you’ve ever seen. You’re so entranced by her that you barely even notice when she says something to you.
“oh...uhm- what?” you oh so eloquently reply, internally debating if you should throw yourself off the porch to make your escape from this awkward ass interaction. The girl smirks as her eyes scan you up and down- if you didn’t know any better you would think she was checking you out.
“I said are you good? No offense but you kinda seem like you're freaking the fuck out” She repeats, smirk still present on her face as she brings the joint up to take a drag from it, blowing the smoke in your direction.
You blush, embarrassed that someone had been witness to your mini breakdown. “Yeah, I’m good. It's just a lot, you know? I don’t go to parties too often.” As soon as the words leave your mouth you cringe internally. Don’t go to parties a lot? You seriously couldn't think of anything cooler to say? Way to embarrass yourself in front of the hottest chick you’ve ever met. Your downward spiral continues until the girl breaks the quiet with a chuckle
“I get that, frats aren’t really my thing either but I get good business here so... here I am”. You nod your head, looking back up at the sky. “I’m Ellie, by the way. What's your name gorgeous?”. Your face feels like it's on fire, your brain practically short-circuiting trying to process that this actual goddess just called you gorgeous. You quietly tell her your name and when you look back at her, she has a wide smile stretching across her face. “Pretty name for a pretty girl.”
Holy shit this girl is going to be the death of you. You’re sure that your face is going to melt off from how hard you’ve been blushing, the ability to speak has left you altogether. You’ve had flings in the past, with both boys and girls, but no one has ever been so brazenly interested in you. You find yourself desperate to know more about her, maybe run your hands through her hair and cup her face as you lean in for a- WOAH. You’re goin wild right now, you need to cool down
“So um... what do you sell?” You ask, trying to change the topic and give yourself some time to chill out. Ellie looks at the joint in her hands, then back at you with raised eyebrows. “Right right, sorry stupid question” you huff while looking down, embarrassed yet again by your lack of rizz. Ellie lets out a full-on laugh, pushing herself off the house and making her way over to you.
“You ever smoked before, pretty girl?” she asks while leaning on the railing next to you, so close you can feel the heat radiating off of her. Looking up, you’re surprised to see that her face is so close to yours that your noses are practically touching.
“A few times, not a ton. I cough a lot though, so it's kinda embarrassing to do it with other people”. Ellie taps off the ash at the end of her joint, seemingly contemplating something before turning her attention back to you
“Well if you’re down to smoke, we can try a different way that maybe will help you cough less. That is, only if you want to”. You’re surprised by how quickly you accept her offer, asking her what she had in mind. Ellie moves from beside you to directly in front of you, planting her empty hand on your waist and bringing the joint she held in her other hand up to your face. “Okay, so it's called shotgunning. Just open your mouth after I take a hit, sound good?”. All you can do is nod, mesmerized as she brings the joint to her lips. The moon reflects off her soft skin, the end of the joint burning a deep orange as she inhales. After her hit, Ellie looks over at you and you do as she said.
Flicking away what little is left from her blunt, Ellie cups your face with her now empty hand and brings her mouth to yours. As she’s kissing you she blows the smoke into your mouth, but you can barely concentrate, too focused on the feeling of her lips on yours. After only a few seconds, Ellie pulls away but keeps her forehead pressed to yours and you blow the smoke in her face as you both giggle.
You reach up and brush away a bit of hair that had fallen to cover Ellie’s eyes, running your fingers down the side of her face until you are cupping her cheek as well. You look at each other for a beat before you both lean in, lips meeting again. Ellie caresses your cheek before her hand moves to join her other one on your waist, finding their way under your shirt and stroking the skin there. She tries to deepen the kiss, licking your bottom lip which you playfully deny. Suddenly, Ellie pulls away for a moment to lift you up onto the porch railing. Your legs fall open and Ellie steps between them, connecting her lips to your neck and kissing down the side to your collarbone. Letting out a breathy moan, you grip the hair at the base of Ellie's neck and throw your head back.
-SCHWOOP-
The noise startles you and you pull away from Ellie, much to her annoyance. Looking at the sliding glass door, you notice some obnoxious frat boy has thrown it open.
“Hey, you deal right? I need a pre-roll if you have em”. Talk about a fucking cock block. Ellie all but growls into your neck, whipping around ready to give this dude the verbal thrashing of his life when you stop her by placing your hand on her shoulder.
“It's okay, I need to find my roommate and get going anyway. But um... do you have your phone on you? Maybe I can give you my number and we can do this again sometime?”. Ellie smiles at that, pulling her phone out of her back pocket and handing it to you. Feeling bold, you give her one last kiss on the cheek before heading past the frat guy and back into the house.
You really hope she texts you.

would you ever write a modern/no-powers au for dreamling/sandman?
"Look, Mee," Hob says, for the fourth or fifth time that conversation. "I'm sure your brother is, uh, great, but I'm not sure -- "
"Come on," his best friend says, also for the fourth or fifth time that conversation. "Honestly, you'd be doing me a massive favor. I can barely get him out of the house most days, so I figured that at least the two of you could faff off and be really pathetic together?"
"Thanks." Hob switches the phone to his other ear and glares suspiciously out at the garden; when you've got two small children and it's quiet, you figure something's gone terribly amiss. Robyn and Alison haven't burnt the place down or gotten run over in traffic, but they're playing with something small, muddy and possibly still alive, and Hob debates whether he has to sprint out and save them from certain death. "You're a great friend, truly."
"I know," Morticia says airily. That does, bewilderingly, seem to be her actual name (were her parents massive Addams Family fans or something?) but with Hob and the rest of her friends, she generally goes by Mors, or Mee for short. He looked it up once. Ancient Roman god(dess) of death, which made him laugh, at least when it didn't kick him in the teeth. "You can thank me later."
"And I want to spend time with your brother... why?"
"Because." Oh God, here it comes. He can hear her trying not to say it, the same way everyone's tried not to say it in the going-on-eighteen months since his wife went into an ordinary central-London NHS hospital to give birth to their second child and didn't come back out. "You know it would be good for you, Robbie."
"Right." Hob's voice turns wry. "Can't have me wallowing alone in my misery? You know I've got the kids to look after, and they're talking about extending my contract at Birkbeck. I'm keeping busy."
Keeping busy. It always sounds stupid, even if it's the truth. Like you can chase overwhelming, soul-crushing grief away just by getting out of bed and making breakfast for the kids, holding Robyn's hand as you trundle off on the school run and tell him to have a good day, the thousand and one ways you think you're massively arsing this up and Ellie would have been so much better. Every time the doorbell rings or someone comes up the walk, he thinks -- for a stupid moment he thinks -- and then of course it isn't. You think about women dying in childbirth like it's something out of medieval times, or some third-world country. Not in England in the twenty-first century. Not in London. Not as if your daughter is beautiful and bright and alive, and every time you look at her, you remember that her mother isn't, and the happiness you feel is poisoned by grief again, cold and blue and endless as the ocean. You laugh with the kids at some Disney cartoon one moment, and the next, you're crying alone in the kitchen, in bed, in the silent darkness. And no matter how much you ask, she doesn't answer. You think she does, sometimes. You're just fooling yourself.
You know, Hob thinks. Maybe it would be good for him. At least it would let him spend time with (if Mee's account is anything to go by) the one man in all of London more pathetic than him. It doesn't have to be anything more than that. Even if she is trying to set him up, she wouldn't admit it. She isn't, surely? Trying to match her brother off with her best friend, widowed-single-dad-part-time-lecturer who's clinging onto sanity by the bare edge of his fingernails? Right? Fuck. Should never have told her that he's bi. Doubled her meddling possibilities at a stroke. And yet. He's so lonely, he almost doesn't care.
"Fine," Hob says resignedly. "I'll see if I can get a sitter for the kids. And it better not be that grotty brewery in Shepherd's Bush you dragged me to last time."
"No." Mee sounds like she's laughing at him. She probably is laughing at him, or else she thinks he's become such a pathologically undatable freak that his only chance for happiness ever again is with her equally pathetic little brother. "Nice new Asian-fusion place. Hammersmith. Fifteen minutes from you on the Tube. Don't chicken out, Robert."
And with that, well --
There's pretty much no choice.
Hob finds a sitter for the kids, promises to pay her twenty quid an hour (it's London, after all), and grumblingly picks out some clothes. He's not good at this. It's been almost ten years since he was dating anyone, and Eleanor was from a rich enough family that there was no chance of ever impressing her parents; he could have turned up in anything from Savile Row to a bloody dishcloth and they still would have hated him. Then he finds himself fucking around to the point where he's going to be late, the Tube will be a nightmare anyway, and panics again and rushes out the door with barely a word about what to feed the kids and when to put them to bed. Is nice Olivia from down the street judging him? She almost surely is.
Hob grimly toddles off to Hammersmith, exits into a light rain, and spends an inordinate amount of time searching for the restaurant. When he finally steps inside, he's not quite sure who he's looking for. Mee texted him a picture of her brother, but Hob has trouble believing that such a pale, pasty, and terminally uncharismatic twink could ever be related to her. One of them has to be adopted, and he's laying money on this one, whose name is -- no, seriously -- Morpheus. Morticia and Morpheus. What is wrong with their parents? Determined to doom their children to an eternity of primary-school torment?
Hob contemplates turning around and leaving, but now he's come this far, Olivia will definitely judge him if he returns within the hour, and frankly, he's judging himself. Even worse, he's fairly sure he's just spotted his man. Morpheus (come on, really?) is sitting by himself at a corner table, looking appropriately dark and broody, in his emo-goth dark coat and toilet-brush hair. Just like the photo. He's admittedly not bad-looking in person; he's got a pale, chiseled beauty that is briefly arresting, almost unearthly. Still, though. Definitely a wanker.
"Hello," Hob says, deciding to bite the bullet. He strides over, hand outstretched. "I'm Robert Gadling, and I think you're the bloke I'm supposed to be meeting? I know your sister."
Morpheus's mouth makes a small lemon-sucking motion. He rises to his feet, regards Hob's hand as if not certain what to do with it and/or wondering if he can get away with not touching it, and finally shakes it, brief and cold and dry. "I am," he says curtly. "You may sit."
Well, good. Glad they got His Majesty's permission. No unauthorized sitting happening here, no sir. Resisting the urge to roll his eyes, Hob puts his bag on the floor and slides into the chair across from Morpheus. Like every Londoner at a loss for a better opening line, he reaches for the weather. "Shame about this piss, isn't it? And it was all the way up to twenty degrees last week. Did you have to come far?"
"No," Morpheus says, still not displaying any particular delight in being forced to spend this evening in the presence of another human being and looking as if he is very much hoping the floor will suddenly open up and swallow him. "Not far."
Hob waits, in vain, on the chance that Morpheus might elaborate. He does not. Well. This is going swimmingly. Are they on a date? Did Mee tell him that they were on a date? Is Hob sure this isn't an extremely elaborate prank, and she just plucked one of her single friends from the vast and bewildering mystery of her acquaintances? Truly, it is no wonder that Morpheus is, in fact, unattached. He's got the personality of a soggy rag and the face of -- well, not that. He is pretty. But Hob is not that shallow. Thanks very much.
Conversation suffers badly until they order drinks and food; or rather Hob orders, and Morpheus says that he'll take just a glass of wine. He does loosen up slightly as they talk; Hob does most of that, but Morpheus listens with cool, intent attention. From time to time he asks a question, but he doesn't interrupt, and finally Hob, trying to make it as light-hearted as "my wife died eighteen months ago and this is the first not-date I've been on ever since" can possibly be, admits it. He braces for Morpheus to get up, to run, to fire off an indignant text to Morticia or anything else, but he doesn't. He just nods once. "I'm sorry," he says quietly. "I know that it is... difficult."
All of a sudden, Hob is forced to consider the startling and unsettling possibility that Morpheus himself knows something about this. He can't say why or how that might be, but life is full of mysteries. "I -- yeah." It's an abject relief to say it and to have someone acknowledge it simply and matter-of-factly, not smother him with sympathy or cluck about how hard it is. "So if I'm off my game, that, uh. That's why."
Morpheus thinks about that for a long moment. Then all at once, out of nowhere, he smiles. It completely transforms his face, it twists like a fishhook in Hob's gut, and all of a sudden, he wonders in alarm if he is, in fact, entirely that shallow after all. "Believe me, Hob Gadling," Morpheus says. "It has very much been my pleasure."

~*~
Portland, Maine September 26, 2003
“Fuck.”
The air in the bathroom is thick with moisture, making it hard to breathe. You wipe at the condensation on the mirror and stare at the face reflected back at you, pale and drawn in the yellow light.
“Fuck, fuuuuck,” you mutter, holding the pregnancy test up and squinting, tilting it this way and that, hoping the extra line is just a trick of the light, but it doesn’t go away. You groan, internally vacillating between panic and rage.
Fuck.
There’s a knock at the door. Your girlfriend, Joanna, probably wondering what’s taking so long.
“Hey, you done? We just got called into the hospital again.”
“What?” You drop the stick onto the counter, but you can’t stop staring at it, the two clear blue lines taunting you. Outside your shared one-bedroom apartment a siren begins to wail. “I just got home.”
“That’s the job, babe,” Jo says. The doorknob creaks, breaking your reverie.
“Shit, just a sec,” you mutter, shoving your foot against the door and fumbling for some toilet paper to wrap the test in before tucking it at the bottom of the garbage can. You swallow the urge to vomit as Jo pokes her head in.
“You’ve been in here forever–”
“Jeez, privacy,” you snap, clutching the towel to your body more tightly, suddenly keenly aware of how flimsy it is, how exposed you are.
Jo’s eyes widen with hurt and you immediately soften, guilt stabbing at the gentlest swell in your abdomen. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry…it’s just been a long-ass day.”
You soothe her with a quick kiss, hoping she can’t taste the hint of bile under the mint of your toothpaste and mouthwash.
“I’ll be right there,” you say, ducking around her, headed to your room in search of fresh scrubs.
“You want something to eat? I made sandwiches to go.”
Your stomach turns. “No, I ate at the caf after my last shift,” you lie. “Is this an all-hands thing?” you call over your shoulder as you dig in the hamper. Nothing is clean, there’s never enough time to do laundry.
Plenty of time to fuck an old buddy and get knocked up, though , you think, setting your lips in a grim line and smoothing the wrinkles out of some navy blue slacks.
“Yeah, Dan says they’re calling everyone in,” she confirms. “Something about a virus, flu season’s starting early, they’re expecting a full house. It’s bad.”
“Mmm,” you say, pulling on the freshest top you can find and tying back your hair in a ponytail. You meet Jo at the door where she hands you a brown paper sack, presumably your sandwich.
“You okay?” she asks as you walk the four blocks to the hospital, grateful for the crisp fall air. You hope it hides the flush in your cheeks, hopes she didn’t hear you retching before you stepped into the shower. She reaches for your hand and takes it, but your fingers are numb. “You’re quiet.”
“I’m fine,” you say automatically. “Just…tired.”
“Okay…hey, I had an idea for our anniversary next week.”
“Hmm?”
“There’s this new place on Congress Street, they do a great brunch with free mimosas? Since it’s on a Sunday I thought we could probably sneak in a date after your shift–”
“That’s fine,” you say automatically, squeezing her hand in weak reassurance; just the word brunch makes your stomach turn. “I mean, great, sounds great.”
She stops you outside the hospital’s employee entrance and holds fast to your hand to pull you back before you can go in.
“Babe. Are you sure you’re alright?”
You blink back tears, swallow hard, and it almost comes out. You open your mouth to speak, but the sound of a siren interrupts as an ambulance screams out of the nearby garage, lights flashing, and the moment is gone.
You pull her into a tight hug. She smells soft and warm and familiar, like oranges and vanilla. You press a tight kiss to the nape of her neck in an unusually public display of affection.
“Whoa,” she says softly, taking an unintentional step back as if to catch you.
“I’m okay,” you murmur into her neck. “We’ll be okay.”
~*~
The smell of antiseptic barely registers as you enter the building, so familiar to you now it’s like a second home. Joanna gives you a quick wave before being intercepted by her attending, who drags her off to the ICU to check on a patient.
By the time you drop your bag off at your locker, shoving the paper satchel with your sandwich at the back, you’ve almost put the pregnancy out of your mind. It comes naturally, this tight compartmentalization of your feelings, this easy decoupling from your emotional state.
The on-call attending physician looks no worse for the wear, and in the back of your mind, you wonder if someone higher up is overreacting to the news out of Indonesia. Your limited knowledge of virology knows the flu can’t jump that quickly. You’re over a hundred miles from the nearest major airport. It will be several days before what’s happening there crawls its way to this tiny state. It’s true, the waiting room is busy, but that’s not unusual for a Friday night.
You fight off a wave of nausea and take a clipboard from the wall.
~*~
Several hours later, at about the time a man named Joel Miller is holding his dead daughter in his arms somewhere in Texas, you are beginning to understand that this is not influenza.
Reports out of Boston and New York City are fragmented and, quite frankly, unbelievable. There’s a federal emergency warning on the screen of every television in the lobby and a growing sense of unease as nurses, doctors, and assistants dash between rooms, weaving between gurneys, calling out orders for beds, antibiotics, IVs. The thrum of the waiting room only grows louder and more insistent. The sirens are a constant, frenetic wail in the distance.
But all of that is a dim clamor in the background because your latest patient has a bite. A distinctly human-mouth-shaped arc of angry red impressions in the crook of their neck. The patient also has a sudden fever and a rash that is rapidly spreading up the side of their head.
Rashes don’t move like that, rashes don’t fucking undulate …
If you didn’t know better you’d think it was blood poisoning, but you’ve never seen sepsis like this. You watched the bite happen, watched a troubled man in the waiting room lurch from his chair and fly toward his victim, sinking his teeth into the flesh of her neck before being restrained by an orderly and the receptionist. That was maybe five minutes ago, and you’ve never seen an infection spread so fucking fast . By the time you’d helped the patient into a cot, they were already shivering, skin clammy and burning at the same time.
The patient is your partner, Joanna.
“What…the fuck,” she murmurs, chest heaving. Her neck twitches and jumps under your careful, probing touch. Her skin is already dewy with sweat, hot under your fingertips.
“Hold still,” you hiss, unsure if you’re talking to her or your trembling hands. You douse the bite in antiseptic, wiping away the blood with a clean square of gauze, leaning in to examine the rash again. It’s crept up from her collarbone to her ear, and it has to be your imagination, but you can almost see it…move. Joanna is shivering, whether from the fever or shock you don’t know, but you don’t have time to process before a shriek rings out from the hall.
“Need some help out here!”
Joanna grimaces, hissing softly through her teeth. “Go.”
“Jo–”
“Go. I’ll be fine,” she says, even as her eyes roll back in pain.
You give her one last desperate look, squeezing her hand, whispering, “I’ll be right back,” before ducking out of the room.
A woman is seizing on the floor, spasms jerking her limbs from side to side. A nurse looks up at you with wide eyes as he attempts to stabilize the patient’s head and neck. The seizing woman’s head turns sharply and her teeth make contact with his wrist, ripping a gash in the tender flesh.
“Shit!” he cries, jerking his hand away, blood running in rivulets down his arm.
“Go, I’ve got this,” you bark. He doesn’t wait, doesn’t ask if you’re sure, just backs away and runs down the hall.
A hot hand on your shoulder spins you around before you can figure out what to do with the writhing woman on the floor. It’s Joanna, her eyes cloudy. The heat radiates off her body in waves, the rash–
Not a rash.
–has spread up her neck, already red and raised welt-like lines are slithering–
Rashes don’t slither.
–around the sunken sockets of her eyes.
“Help…” she croaks. Her fingers pulse and twitch against your collarbone, gripping too tight, too close.
“Jo, it’s–” you start to soothe, intending to send her back to bed, but she’s staggering toward you in sharp jerks, her mouth glistening, and some deep, primal urge makes you recoil from your lover’s embrace. You stumble backward, heels catching on the woman on the floor, and you land on your tailbone behind her.
Joanna follows like a moth to your flame, pitching forward, crawling, oblivious to the woman on the floor who is also moving underneath her, rolling over in a jerky, twisting, impossible way. Both women lock onto you and you can almost feel their need, their–
Hunger.
From down the hall comes a rising chorus of shouts, a crash. Someone bursts through the doors from the waiting room, one shoulder soaked with blood. From between the swinging doors, you see glimpses of chaos, hear more screams.
No. No. Not Jo. Not–
Something inside you breaks; you scramble backward, barely stifling a moan. You feel a hand tighten around your ankle and you kick it away, the tile floor slippery against your sweaty palms. Another hand grasps, scrabbles, another kick; a bloody palm print gleams on the crisp white leather toe of your sneaker.
No! No! Get out!
By some miracle you find your feet, feel yourself turning, running down the hall, deeper into the hospital. A dim part of your brain reaches for a reprimand, but you can’t make yourself stop, driven by panic, passing lines of gurneys and bodies slumped on the floor. You’re acutely aware of the thick smell of blood, drowning out the familiar antiseptic wash. You push your way through crowded halls over a chorus of groans and screams.
Out get out get out out out–
You burst through an emergency exit at the back of the hospital gasping for air, pressing your back to the weathered brick. Your heart lurches in your chest, wishing for this to end, for you to wake up in your bed after a bad dream.
A pregnancy dream , you think, barking a manic laugh into the night, recalling that your biggest fear this morning had been a little nausea and a missing red dot on the calendar. You taste hot bile and feel yourself swaying, ready to empty the meager contents of your stomach next to the dumpster, but a blinding light freezes you in its glare.
“Stop right there!”
You blink, stunned. Then you see the gun.
A figure in Army fatigues is pointing a rifle at you. The trembling of the muzzle makes you understand he’s just as scared as you are. If you get sick now, you’re a dead woman.
You raise your shaking hands in surrender. “Don’t shoot, I’m a…I’m a doctor.”
He doesn’t lower the weapon. “Are you bit?”
“I’m not–I don’t know what–”
His voice rises, panic creeping in as he gestures with the rifle, jabbing it at you. “Are you bit?!? Are you sick?”
“No!” you say, trying not to let your voice shake. “No, I’m not sick.”
He swallows hard, appearing to take this in. You close your eyes in the endless seconds between breaths, waiting for the crack of the rifle.
You open your eyes at the sound of the gun being lowered to his side.
“Ma’am,” he says shakily. “I think you should come with me.”

Tumblr media
You were having an absolute fucking crisis. At the college you attended, all students were required to stay in a dorm their first year but could move out their sophomore year if they wanted to. You definitely wanted to move out especially after having a nightmare for a roommate your freshman year who snored like a banshee, always brought guys over, and, after finding out about your sexuality, constantly accused you of wanting to sleep with her even though she was far from your type.
In order to move out, freshmen had to alert the school of their decision at the end of their last semester of their first year and they only gave students a month to go back on their choice. You were not aware of this and, by the time you were, you’re month had very well passed and you still hadn’t been able to secure a place to stay. It seemed like every one and two bedroom apartment near the school was taken by someone.
You even asked the few friends you had that attended the school if you could room with them but all of them either had a one bedroom apartment or were rooming with someone else.
So, essentially, you were fucked.
You only had a few weeks to figure something out before school started and you were beginning to get desperate. Finally, after days of sulking over your shitty situation and complaining about it for an hour over the phone to your best friend, Heaven, she gave you the idea of looking through the school’s online bulletin to see if anyone had posted a ‘roommate wanted’ post recently.
The only problem with that idea was the fact that the school’s online bulletin was notoriously difficult to navigate. The layout was horrible and the website had no filtering system so all posts from different years were just mixed onto the website and, for that reason, most people didn’t use it.
It took you two days of sifting through hundreds upon hundreds of old roommate wanted posts to find a recent one. You were just about to give up the hunt for the night when you came across it.
The post itself was very short and simple. The original poster hadn’t put much information about herself other than that her name was Abby, she was a junior, what her email address was and the fact that she was looking for a roommate after accidentally renting a two bedroom apartment instead of a one bedroom apartment.
The moment you saw it, you opened up your gmail account and typed out a very quick email before sending it and finally turning in for the night. The next morning you saw a reply from this mystery Abby woman, asking to meet at a coffee shop in town for lunch for a small interview and to discuss the intricacies of the arrangement which you, of course, agreed to. An email was sent back to you almost immediately giving you the coffee shop’s address and where Abby would be in the coffee shop.
Knowing this was going to be one of those ‘first impressions are very important’ moments you put on one of your favorite outfits that fit the somewhat chilly, early autumn weather that included a tan mini skirt, black long-sleeve turtle neck, black boots, and you’re favorite pair of cream leg warmers, before heading out to the coffee shop.
When you entered the little shop, it finally dawned on you that you had no idea what this lady looked like. All you knew was her name and what booth she was going to be sitting in. So, as you made your way to the back corner of the shop where Abby had instructed you to go to, you couldn’t help but imagine what she could possibly look like. A million different ideas ran through your head as you walked. Maybe she was brunette? She was probably taller than you but not by much, and you imagined her voice to be similar to yours.
What you definitely weren’t expecting to see as you drew closer to the booth was a buff woman with dark blonde, almost brown, hair sitting at the table that you had previously been instructed to go to. The woman was absolutely stunning with her hair tied back, a few strands left out to frame her face, freckles splayed across her cheeks, and her brow furrowed in concentration. Her outfit itself was definitely more on the masculine side which is something you did not anticipate. Even just sitting there, typing away on the laptop in front of her, she looked very intimidating.
When you finally approached the table, you cleared you throat, effectively gaining her attention. Her blue-grey eyes were piercing as she turned her full attention to you, raising an eyebrow in question, “Um, hi, are you Abby?”
A small smile graced her features as she nods her head just so, “I am,” she confirms, her voice catches you by surprise. It definitely fit her face, deep and smooth, but it wasn’t what you thought she would sound like. “I assume you’re (Y/N)?”
Her question snatches you out of your own head. You nod and she motions toward the spot across from her, silently inviting you to sit with her. After clearing her laptop off the table top, she once again turns her gaze to you and you can feel the familiar feeling of anxiety rise in your chest.
“So, let’s cut straight to the chase,” she begins, leaning back in her seat and crossing her arms, “you want to be my roommate, right?”
You nod.
“Well, I have spoken to many people interested in rooming with me and a lot of them haven’t been very…fitting for me.” Just by the way she’s speaking and the look on her face, you can tell that she’s probably ran into some of the weirdos on campus, “But, from just looking at you, I think you’d be a good roommate but I do have some questions and things I’d like to discuss before I make a final decision.”
You nod.
Abby grabs a small black notebook that was sat beside a cup of what looked to be straight black coffee, before flipping open to a page and speaking again.
“Okay, so, for one, I think a huge part of what will make this work best for the both of us is full transparency. I’m gonna tell you what I need in a roommate and I want you to tell me what you need in a roommate, and then we can kind of decide whether or not we’d work well together, okay?,” she asks, looking you straight in the eyes as she speaks. Her gaze is unwavering and intimidating, analyzing every bit of you that she could see.
You nod again, “Okay.”
“Alright then,” she starts, “I’ve never really shared a living space with anyone before. Freshman year, I had a single dorm and sophomore year, I had a one-bedroom apartment. I’m a very private, organized, and clean person and I like my space to reflect that. Therefore, what I need from a roommate is for them to respect my space, my privacy, and just keep up with their end of the chores and house care.”
You nod again.
“Other than that, for the sake of being fully transparent, I have to tell you now that I am bisexual so if that’s going to be a problem then this arrangement will not work.“
Abby’s words catch you off guard. From the look of her, it made sense, but you always tried your hardest not to place a label on anyone based on their appearance. Abby studies the hesitance on your face but she doesn’t say anything, she just stares in silence as you collect yourself before finally speaking.
“Okay, um, that won’t be a problem at all.” You say, speaking honestly but you can tell by the look on Abby’s face that she isn’t convinced just yet.
“Are you sure?” She questions, leaning forward slightly, her voice slightly deeper than it had been a moment ago, and her eyes burning holes into your own.
“Yes, 1000% sure,” you smile at her, trying to ease the nervousness rising in your chest at her intense stare, “I mean, it definitely won’t be a problem for me considering the fact that I am a lesbian.”
Abby hums and you can visibly see the tension leave her shoulders as she relaxes back into her seat, “Is that so?”
“Mhm,” you confirm, “I was actually worried about that being an issue with you but it’s nice to know that it wouldn’t be.”
Abby nods and, after a moment of slightly awkward silence, she says, “What are the things that you would need from a roommate?”
“Um,” you start taking a moment to think Edie’s speaking again, “I think I basically need just about the same things. I like my space but, if we’re being 100% honest, I am not a very social person but I can be quite…clingy?” Uncertainty is present in your voice as you speak, not really sure if that would be the best word choice.
“Clingy?” Abby questions, raising an eyebrow, “How so?”
“I mean, I guess clingy wouldn’t be the best word for it,” you mumble, looking away from Abby’s intense stare and out of the window, “I like to talk to people a lot and sometimes I enter other people’s space without realizing it. I understand that some people don’t like that, so if we were to live together I’d want you to create boundaries and stand on those boundaries so that I don’t make you uncomfortable.”
You look back over to Abby, feeling much more confident in the way in which you’d phrased what you felt. Abby slowly nods in understanding after a moment, uncrossing her arms to jot something down on her little notepad, before looking back at you.
“Anything else?” She inquires.
“Other than that I just need you to be courteous and, um, when you have company over be respectful of the fact that I may be there and may need the apartment to be relatively quiet.”
Abby nods, “I can do that. I don’t typically have others over anyway.”
Abby jots something else down on her little notebook before looking back at you, “Okay, now I just a few questions for you and then you can ask me whatever you want, okay?”
You nod.
“Do you have a partner?”
You shake your head, “No.”
“Do you like to have friends over often?”
“Sort of?” You admit, “It’s usually just my best friend and her girlfriend, though.”
Abby nods, scribbling something down again on her notepad, “Do you know what your schedule will look like for the semester?”
You nod, “Most of my classes are late morning, early afternoon or evening classes, so I would be home most of the morning and sporadically throughout the afternoon and evening.”
Abby nods, taking a moment to write some more things down before continuing, “This one’s kind of odd but are you a morning person?”
“Sometimes,” you respond, “there’s days when I wake and I’m ready to tackle the day but there’s also days where I wake up and I want to slam my head against a slab of concrete.”
“I understand the feeling,” Abby snorts, smiling slightly accentuating a cute little dimple on her cheek that makes your own smile a little wide, “I think that’s the last of the questions I have for you. Do you have any for me?”
“Um,” you take a moment to think before settling lamely on your first question, “are you a morning person?”
“I am, I get up at 5 am every morning.”
You groan, “Why put yourself through that every day.”
Abby chuckles, “It’s not that bad. I just like to get my workout in early,” she shrugs, “it keeps me energized throughout the day.”
As you take in her answer, you can’t help but let your eyes wander over her broad shoulders and toned arms, straining against the tight fabric of her long sleeve shirt. You can definitely tell that she works out every day. After a moment, you realize you’re staring and snap your eyes back to her face to see her looking directly at you with a smug expression on her face.
You quickly look away from her own and down at your hands which were sat interlaced on the table in front of you. You felt the tell-tale feeling of embarrassment seep into you. You clear your throat, trying to ignore the butterflies now beating against your ribcage, “So, what will your schedule look like?”
“For this semester, I’ll be out most of the morning and home around late afternoon, hopefully.”
You nod, finally looking back up her to see that the smugness was gone for the most part but she still had a small smirk on her face, “Do you have any hobbies that would be nice to know about beforehand?”
“I play guitar and I play on our school’s rugby team, so during the fall and spring semester I’ll be gone often because of practice and also because of work.”
“Oh, that’s cool. I forgot our school had a rugby team,” you admit almost sheepishly, “I wanted to come to some of the games last year but I was always too busy.”
Abby hums in acknowledgement, “Hopefully you’ll be able to come this year, we’re going to be having quite a few interesting games against rival schools.”
“Yeah, hopefully,” you agree, “um, I can’t really think of any other questions.”
Abby nods at the admission, “I don’t think we’ll have any problems living together. I quite like your company and you’re a lot better than some of the other prospective roommates I’ve met.”
You smile at the praise, “So…does that mean I’ve passed this…interview?”
Abby chuckles at the question, “Yes, it does. You can be my roommate.”
“Oh thank goodness!” You exclaim, slumping down into the booth behind you dramatically getting another chuckle out of Abby, “You have no idea how much you just saved my life. I couldn’t find an apartment for the life of me and I was so worried about having a roommate.”
“Have you never a roommate before?” Abby asks, amusement apparent on her face and in the tone of her voice.
“Oh, no, I’ve had a roommate before.” You sigh, remembering the suffering she put you through, “I had one last year actually, but she was pretty awful and I was just afraid of having another bad one.”
Abby hums, “Well, I hope I haven’t disappointed you yet.”
“You have not,” your assure her, giggling a bit, “trust me, you’re a hundred times better than she was.”
“What was so bad about her?”
You sigh, “She was just not very…kind. She was quite selfish actually.” You admit, “She was very messy and she would bring guys over to mess around with even when I was there and basically kick me out so she could do her…thing.”
Abby’s face contorts into one of pure irritation as you speak, “That’s awful.”
“Yeah, it really was,” you agree, “she also was convinced that I had a thing for her after finding out I was a lesbian. She wasn’t even my type! She was far from it.”
Abby nods, looking at you sympathetically, “I hate when people assume that.”
“So do I,” you sigh, again before smiling up at Abby, “but it’s alright. It’s in the past now.”
Abby smiles back, nodding again, “Yeah, now you have me as roommate and I promise that I will try my best to give you a better experience than that.”

You and Abby sat in the little coffee shop for a few more hours, getting to know one another better before heading on your separate ways for the time being, but not before exchanging numbers.
The next day, Abby texted you the address to the apartment, and told you that you could start moving in whenever but just to let her know so that she could be home to help. The two of you continued to text routinely almost every day until the day you were supposed to move in.
A week after you guys met in the coffee shop, you were ready to move in and had texted Abby as much. The plan was to start moving in that day with the help of Abby and your best friend, Heaven. In your mind, the move itself would be pretty easy and straightforward since you didn’t have a ton of stuff. In total, you probably had fifteen or so boxes and a few bags which all fit nicely in the tiny U-Haul you’d rented. The rest of your furniture and stuff would be moved in later in the day by a moving company, so nothing that you had with you was too heavy.
When you arrived, you texted Abby to let her know, expecting her to come out in something similar to what she’d had on the day you met, a simple shirt and jeans, but you were mistaken.
When Abby came out, both you and Heaven were distracted with taking things out of the U-Haul, it wasn’t until she called out your name that you noticed her walking up to the two of you. Her appearance caught you off guard…again.
Her hair was essentially the same, tied in the back and braided into a long braid that cascaded over her shoulder with a few pieces out in the front, but her outfit was dramatically different. This time she was dressed in what seemed to be gym attire. Black shorts that hugged her pretty tight, a black muscle tee, white Nike socks and sneakers. The main thing that caught your eye wasn’t really her attire though, it was the dark ink that littered her arms and thick thighs.
You were mesmerized, stuck staring until Heaven smacked you discreetly on the behind, hissing a reprimand at you about you staring at your new roommate like a piece of meat all through a polite smile that was pointed in Abby’s direction.
You quickly tried to pull your shit together as Abby reached the two of you, smiling kindly at the both of you, not seeming to have noticed you gawking at her only moments before. After introducing Abby and Heaven, the three of you began working on your boxes.
You were all able to get your things inside the apartment and into your room pretty quickly. You kept getting distracted though by the absolutely delicious view that was Abby Anderson.
You knew she was obviously strong just by the look of her physique but you couldn’t get over how easily she picked up all of your heaviest boxes without even breaking a sweat. Her outfit left nothing to your imagination, and it made it hard for you to focus causing you to run into and drop things all too often.
When you guys were finally done, Abby had left you and Heaven alone to relax and get you all drinks as the two of you began to go through your things.
Heaven kept giving you a look that you were pointedly trying to ignore. Eventually, she got tired of being subtle and hissed your name, “You need to get it together, girl.”
“I’m trying.” You whine, quietly.
Heaven sighs, glancing over to and out of the open door to check to see if Abby was coming or not. When she confirmed that the other woman was still downstairs she leaned toward you, “I get it, babe. She’s hot as hell but she’s also your roommate now. You’ve gotta tread lightly.”
“You have a girlfriend, you can’t call other people hot.” You throw back at her trying your best to ignore the last bit of her sentence.
Heaven rolls her eyes, “As if Ellie would give a shit,” she snorts, “we point out hot women to each other, and, trust me, if my baby was here, she’d agree with me and add a lot more vulgar comments.”
You ignore her statement knowing how true it was, sighing to yourself instead, you halt your work on the box of your belongings in front of you, “What am I gonna do, Heaven? She’s completely my type. I thought I could do it before, y’know? At the coffee shop it felt fine because I couldn’t see all of her, but now…”
“It’s the tattoos ain’t it?” Heaven teases with a shit-eating grin and you whine nodding your head before flopping backward on to the floor beneath you, laying flat on your back. Heaven simply laughs at your pain, enjoying the dramatic display in front of her.
“I mean, she might be hot but there’s no way she’s gay, right?” Heaven says, giggling a bit as she turns her attention back to the box of your belonging in front of her. When she’s met with no answer she looks at you, squinting, “Right, (Y/N)?”
“She’s bi,” you whisper with a sigh, covering your face with your hands.
Heaven gasps, dropping whatever she was holding back into the box, “You’re lying!”
“I’m not!” You groan, “I wish I was.”
“Oh, honey,” Heaven says, sounding sympathetic now, “the only thing you can do is try not to fall for her.”
You groan once again in absolute defeat. There was no way you were going to be able to manage that.
“Maybe she’s got a boyfriend or a girlfriend or something and you won’t have to deal with her being single and hot as hell.” Heaven offers, going back to rustling through the box in front of her.
You’re about to say something about how that wont help much at all because it would just piss you off to see her with someone else, when you hear the sound of footsteps approaching the room. You shut your mouth quickly and turn your attention to the doorway of the room, seeing Abby with three bottles of cold water, still looking as mesmerizing as before.
Abby hands a bottle to Heaven and then to you before speaking, “I’m sorry for taking a while to come back, I had to take a phone call.”
She opens the lid of her own water bottle and takes a few gulps from it, pulling your attention to her adam’s apple as it bobs in her throat.
Heaven nudges you with her foot, once again pulling you out of your embarrassing staring before Abby could see.
“It’s no biggie,” Heaven says, snickering a bit as she answers for the both of you knowing that you are far too distracted to respond to Abby.
Abby smiles at Heaven after pulling away from her water bottle, turning her attention to you, “The call was about your key. It’ll be ready tomorrow, so when I get back from the gym I’ll pick it up and bring it home to you, yeah?”
You nod, still too distracted to speak.
Abby doesn’t seem to think anything of your lack of verbal response, instead she just nods as well, “I’m gonna head to the gym. If you girls get hungry please help yourself to anything in the kitchen. I’ll be back in about an hour and a half, okay?”
You nod again and Abby spares you one more sweet smile, before telling Heaven that it was nice to meet her which Heaven, of course, reciprocates, and leaving the room.
When Abby is far enough away from the room, Heaven turns to you and shakes her head, “Girl, you are so fucked.”
You knew she was right but you didn’t have the energy to respond verbally, so instead you just cover your face with your arms and groan.
You were far beyond fucked.

so, since tlou2 is currently a little bit of a hot topic and becoming problematic, I want to share my standings on it! especially as i do write for Ellie and Abby (not currently as im on a break from that but in the future i will)
I know even tho TLOU is kinda problematic now (with druckman being a Zionist and all), I still love it and it holds a special place in my heart because it made me realize so many things about myself. this sounds so incredibly stupid, but Ellie (pt.2 Ellie duh) was my ‘bi awakening’. I never knew what it meant to look at another girl that way until I played tlou2.
it also became something to bond with my dad over (which I have a hard time bonding with him as we don’t get along). he told me to watch the show, I did. and then I played the games and now he’s playing the games. it’s a big circle and we can talk about it.
but also, the story just sticks close to me. I don’t think a day goes by when I don’t think about Joel and Ellie. Hell, I have an art piece of them on my wall which I got from an amazing artist online. they and their stories mean so much to me.
despite how much I love it though, it makes me sad and it makes me angry to see authors and creators and just people in general still not shutting the fuck up about it right now. the creators and people involved are ZIONISTS, they are pushing and supporting genocide. the murder of men, women, and children. I know TLOU series is an exceptional game series, but we need to make room for what’s important.
this past week during the strike, I was so angry and sad to see how many people still talked and wrote about these Zionist games. like, is fictional pussy more important than the lives of thousands upon thousands of people? children included in that? no, it’s not. it just makes me realize how people don’t understand what matters.
I know many will think my view on this is extreme, and it may be. but I don’t believe it is. I think, even though we love it, we should take a step back. we shouldn’t focus on fictional, pixel based characters, and on what matters.
I am fully aware that recently I posted a Leon Kennedy fic, but as I’ve previously stated, I have found no evidence of Capcom supporting Zionism. as well as the fact that the particular fic had taken me well over a month to write and it had been ages since I put out any form of writing. I did it because I wanted to and I waited for the conclusion of the strike out of respect.
However, the publication of any other works will be sporadic from now on. I will post a fic every now and again, but on the times when there is a call for a strike (like the upcoming March 2nd), I will be on strike. I will continue to post mostly about Palestine and raise awareness.
I want to focus on what’s important! As we all should. while I posted this, this is in no way a way to call anyone specific out. I see fics but I don’t remember who wrote them. I just want people to understand why we shouldn’t focus on pixels, but on the lives of real people.
From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free. 🇵🇸
