Do you have any scars from burns? No. Have you ever built a snowman? Yes. Growing up, Dad would always help my sisters and I make them. Good memories. How about a sand castle? Yeah, but not any impressive ones at all. Just the ones where you fill a pail with sand and flip it over. Have you ever used crutches? Tried when I tore a ligament in my foot, but the pair we had were too tall for me to use them comfortably at all, so I never really "used" them. Have you ever been in a tree house? No. Would you ever move to China? No. Did you ever go to daycare as a kid? I went to one for literally a day because Mom was disgusted with how I was treated. I accidentally wandered into the wrong room or something and one of the guardians slapped my hand when she scolded me, and I think I sobbed the rest of the day, but partially because I had AWFUL separation anxiety from my mom. Afterwards, Mom just had people she knew babysit my sisters and me. Who’s one of the most talented people you know? What are they talented at? As for people who are still in my life/I still consider to "know," I'm unsure, but only because there are so many talented people in my life. One of my older sisters is a fantastic cake decorator and artist in general, and my little sister is truly skilled with working with children; she's a kid magnet. Sara is really good at animation, and I wish she'd do it more! Do you usually pay with cash, debit card, or credit card? Cash. I don't have a credit or debit card. Are you the type of person who can make friends with just about anyone? Yeah, but I have my limits. I'm very open-minded and can befriend people with a wide range of beliefs and personalities, but I know where to draw the line. There comes a point where giving your friendship to someone is like passively supporting their ways, and I don't want to do that if those are overwhelmingly negative and/or hateful. Have you ever experienced a medical emergency? Well yeah, I overdosed on cold medicine. I was surprisingly okay, but I assume it's because I was taken to the hospital fast enough for fluids? Idk. What was the last thing you borrowed from someone? Ummm no clue. Are you muscular? Uh, no. When you go to a restaurant, do you prefer to sit at a booth or a table? Booth. What’s something you think everyone should do/experience at least once in their life? Love. Has your car ever been broken into? I don't have a car, but neither of my parents' has been. Have you ever recorded yourself doing a cover of a song? No. Do you watch television shows more in the dark or the day time? I just don't watch TV. Are there any movies out there that basically make you want to puke? None that I've seen, no. But I won't watch The Human Centipede for this exact reason, as I KNOW it would make me hurl. I read Because of Winn-Dixie twice, and I've read Meerkat Manor: Flower of the Kalahari countless times, although after the first read, I skipped over Clutton-Brock's massive tangents that had nothing to do with meerkats. They really took away from the book, imo. Would you ever like to own a chandelier? Sure, like above the dinner table. It's not a big deal for me, though. What scent is the last body wash you used? Oh my god, it's this cinnamon bun scent that I got for I think my b-day, and I LOVE it. It's going to suck when it's gone. Do you have any religious symbols in your home? Probably somewhere, I just don't pay attention. What religion do you identify with, if any? None. Do you enjoy flavored coffee? If so, which flavor is your favorite? I don't like coffee at all. I don't think I've been REALLY nervous in a while, but certainly nervous like... always. What was the first thing you ate today? I had a bagel. Have you ever had one of those elementary-school boy/girlfriends? No; I didn't have my first boyfriend 'til the 7th grade. Name something random in your car: I don't have my own car. What do you want to tell someone who has died (and who is it, if anything)? I wish I could tell Steve Irwin thank you and that he truly did change the world. I think a lot about just how unspeakably proud he would be of his children and how madly in love he'd be with Bindi's newborn. That family is the definition of wholesome, and I desperately wish Steve was still around. Have you ever stolen from a friend or family member? Wow, no. Would/did you cheat on someone for revenge? Or if they wouldn’t find out? No, that's incredibly childish. If you got pregnant right now, would you keep the baby? The only way I could get pregnant right now was if I was, God fucking forbid, raped. I don't think I'd be able to keep it; it would scar me for life, but at the same time, even though I'm pro-choice, I don't know if I could go through with an abortion without feeling like shit and forever thinking "well you could've just given it up for adoption." I don't like thinking about this topic. Any history with eating disorders (or tendencies)? No, thankfully. I've had bulimic thoughts before, but I've never acted on them. Does your family have a secret? No. If single, would you knowingly be who someone cheats on someone else with? Nooope. Guilt would eat me alive. Aside from your own, whose house did you last set foot into? My older sister's. What is something that makes you very squeamish? Vomit is #1. Do you even use an alarm clock, or do you just use your phone? I use my phone. Have you ever moved to a different state? No. Lived in NC my whole life. Can you do long division in your head? My sister Misty's wedding is coming up soon, but we doubt we'll be able to go because of 1.) Mom's car would never make the drive, and 2.) Covid, and Mom's immunocompromised. There was this very weird three day period where I could've sworn up and down I was constantly on the verge of puking. On the third night, Mom finally took me to the hospital, but they couldn't find anything wrong. Oddly enough, I felt better the next morning... The whole situation was fucking awful for someone who was and still is terrified of vomiting. Do you remember where you first drove to after getting your license? I don't have my license. What did you get into trouble for the most when you were a kid? Being on the computer too much. What is your favourite game show to watch? Family Feud with Steve Harvey. It embarrasses me for some reason, but usually open, because I have a hard time breathing through my nose when I lie down for some reason? I don't take allergy medicine though when I'm really supposed to, so that might explain it... Is there a book you keep telling yourself you’ll read but still haven’t? I have Margaret Atwood's The Testaments that I want to read, but Wings of Fire has taken precedent, so I really don't know if I'll get to it. It would also be nice to catch up with Erin Hunter's Warriors, but that I know I won't do. Did your family ever own a vacation home? No. Have you ever opened a wine bottle? Nope. Have you been inside of a police station? No. What would you never change about yourself? I mean, there's a number of things. I would never allow myself to lose my empathy and compassion for others, for one. I'll never grow a head too big for my body. Do you pretty much need a car to get around where you live? Yeah. Public transport isn't a big thing here, especially outside the cities, and living in the South, places are pretty spread out/not within reasonable walking distance. Have you been to Australia? No, and I'm honestly too scared to go, even though I think it would be extremely cool. All the venomous animals just frighten me, and I find huntsman spiders to be TERRIFYING, regardless of how harmless they are. Do you mind drinking room-temperature water? UGH, I absolutely do mind. I HAVE to drink cold water. If it's even slightly on the warm side, it makes me want to gag.

Which Avenger would you recruit to help you plan your birthday party?

Clint. He’s the defacto strategist, lowkey crazy, grew up in a circus and would throw the wildest fucking party ever. Who needs a venue? He owns a building let’s have a roof party. Booze? He has his ways. Everyone ever would be there, someone would definitely almost die and/or get arrested. Clint would probably end the night in tears cause he’s a sappy drunk lmao. 

Which Avenger would you switch suits with for a day?

Tony. I mean he ends up making suits for literally everyone anyways. Poor ptsd boi, and that includes people like Cap and Nat who refuse to ever wear them even though they are shiny and he made them with love and anxiety. Also the Ironman armor is OP as fuuuuck

Which Avenger would you want to train with?

Natasha is actually a horrible teacher, her own instruction was highkey abusive as fuck and learning from her would be horrible. Steve maybe but then again he’s not that good at teaching, he relies mostly on his superior physique and cognitive abilities. Tony and Clint would be the best at teaching honestly, Tony would stress about it a lot but he also cares a lot and Clint is just naturally good at it. If I could choose from part-time avengers then definitely Logan. I mean he randomly adopts young women and teaches them to be badass all the time (Laura, Jubilee, Kitty, Yukio etc.) so it’s not like it would be new to him. And he’s surprisingly very good at teaching. 

Which Avenger would you call if you are in trouble?

Natasha, there’d be no questions asked. No guilting afterwords for whatever it was. Clint would mock me for my pain too much, Tony would go all overprotective Irondad on me, Steve would exude so much American Disapproval I’d probably just shoot myself to get away from it. Bruce is never to be called ever for anything other than a hug. Pepper maybe but also she’s very busy and needs a nap. Sam maybe but depending on how in trouble I am he might not be able to help. Sam with Scott and Hope. Thor would cause too much of a mess. Loki would just get me into more trouble. T’Challa is too busy for my shit and would just say no. Shuri would laugh at me, Okoye would be sooo done with all of it. Wanda maybe yeah but she’s not very covert and would end up causing some kind of scandal. Pietro would get me out of trouble and then promptly get me into even more trouble. Vision would try his best but who knows how that would end. Bucky would hurt people very badly and it would be a very bloody ordeal full of screaming and trauma, but hey, he’s trying. Janet honestly, if we’re talking OG Avengers would be a good person to call if Nat isn’t available, she’s great in a crisis, can talk her way out of everything and is also brilliant. 

Natasha is honestly the only one who would ask no questions, make no mess and take care of everything no matter what. 

You got arrested, which Avenger are you with?

Probably Clint or Pietro. Most likely Clint cause Pietro would just leave me to take the heat, Loki would never get caught in the first place, Tony doesn’t get arrested. He’s Tony. But Clint? Yeah. Or Scott, tbh. Although in the first it would be Clint’s fault totally, in the second only like 50 percent Scott’s fault. 

Basketball: which Avenger do you pick first for your team?

Not Thor, he doesn’t get the game very well and there would definitely be lightning involved. Steve doesn’t get basketball, Bucky would refuse to play, sam with Nat...hmmm. Sam probably. He’s normal enough to get it, athletic enough to be good at it and friendly enough to have fun. Everyone else honestly would be a hot mess. Peter maybe? Sam or Peter. 

You are trying to make your ex jealous, which Avenger do you pretend to date?

Carol. She’s hot, she’s buff, she can bench press a buss. Definitely Carol, also she’d be down to fuck with some dudes. Also just dtf honestly, she’s cool like that. Can I just date Carol? 

You are out for a good time, which Avenger is your wingman/woman?

Nat is a horrible matchmaker, so choosing her as a wingwoman comes with a lot of risks. She’ll get very invested and weirdly competitive about the whole thing. Clint would be very eager but generally kind of shit at it. Tony is too distracting to be anyone’s wingman. Rhodey honestly would be perfect. I choose Rhodey.  

You woke up with a hangover, which Avenger were you drinking with?

Tony, it would be a night full of bad decisions of badness and Rhodey and Pepper would scold us thoroughly. Mostly Tony, he’s a very bad influence. 

You are on a road trip, which Avenger do you ride with?

Mmmm, I don’t know. Tony would have great taste in music but no patience at all and would eventually drive me crazy. Natasha would insist on silence and/or weird russian music. Clint would be a good road trip buddy, great conversation, good snacks. Peter too, also Sam because you need a responsible adult. Thor doesn’t understand what you mean by ‘roadtrip’ why not just fly? Steve would suck honestly, like a roadtrip with your overly responsible dad. Wade would be fun, but also very dangerous, we might end up dead. Scott would be a good road trip buddy, Quill as well I mean he’s got some pretty great music. 

Idk if I could just pick one. But honestly I’d go on a roadtrip with Clint and Quill and then drag Sam along kicking and screaming because we need a grown up to make sure we don’t die. 

You slept with one of the Avengers, which one do you wake up next to you?

Carol. Mmm, definitely Carol. Or Doctor Strange. I feel like he’d be a good time. 

Your favorite band is having a concert, which Avenger goes with you?

Scott, he’s a good concert buddy, he’s got that fun dad energy and would definitely rock out with you to whatever, he’s just happy to be there. 

You are shopping, which Avenger do you trust to help you pick your outfits?

Pepper, she’s got impeccable fashion sense perfectly suited to the person. Tony would insist I dress like he wanted me to dress and everyone else is kind of a disaster fashion-wise. Like Comic-Wanda is very red-hippie-cleavage and it works for her but she doesn’t relate well enough to others to be able to give advice of any kind. 

Your parents want to meet one of your new friends, which Avenger do you take to meet them?

Peter, a hundred percent. He is the Goodest Boi (tm), and everyone would immediately fall in love with him. It is science. Lowkey though I’d want to bring Natasha or Carol just to scandalize some people. Like hello yes here is my Murder Girlfriend, she does bite so watch your hands. 

You get injured on a mission, which Avenger do you trust to be in charge of your care?

Bruce. He’s good at this sort of thing, and it doesn’t involve hulking or smashing so he’d be down to babysit the injured person. Also he’s super chill to hang with so bonus.

Your room is a mess, which Avenger do you pick to be your Butler and clean your room?

Mm, not Tony he’s not clean. Pepper would do it but I would feel bad. Bruce no, Clint definite no, Natasha would probably stab me for asking. Sam would guilt me into cleaning it myself. One doesn’t ask such things of Bucky honestly. Vision would try but I don’t think it would go well unless you like all your stuff put in weird places. Same with Wanda, Pietro would just fuck with you. Honestly Steve. Cause I could definitely trick him into doing it, would feel absolutely no guilt whatsoever and if he got upset I could just say it’s his fault for being gullible. 

You want to play a prank on the team but need help, which Avenger do you pick to help you prank the rest of the team?

Clint or Peter. Or Clint and Peter. 

Time to buy Christmas presents, which Avenger is the easiest to buy for?

Tony is terrible to buy for until you realize all you have to do is draw him a heartfelt picture and he’ll cry. Pepper is a nightmare to shop for. Natasha as well. Bruce wants infinite comfort items. Fuck Steve. Anything you get Bucky will be received with lowkey tears. T’Challa, don’t even try honestly. Get Peter something funny and spider themed and you’re good. Sam eh, no matter what he’d be polite about it. Thor would honestly be the easiest. I could get that guy socks and he’d be so fucking touched, wear them everywhere and brag to all the other avengers about his cool poptart socks. 

You are going on a mission but only one other person can go, which Avenger are you taking with you?

It would depend on the mission. Anything politically tricky that would require tact and know-how I’d take either Natasha or Tony. Tony if it was well publicized because he has the most experience with the media and Natasha if it was more covert because she has the most experience dealing with murky politics of that sort. Anything to do with stealing I’d take Janet, Hope or Scott. Probably just Scott. Not Bruce, he only goes in when things get destroyed and he doesn’t need help in that arena. Steve if it was something fairly straight forward but that needed good press. Bucky if I need help murdering someone. Anything to do with magic I’d bring Strange, not Wanda cause those things end badly since they usually involve Doom or Sinister who always end up fucking with her head which ends in reality warping shenanigans. T’Challa if it was something to do with either Atlantis (cause he’s salty) or Wakanda. Clint if I need a strategist, Thor if it’s cosmicy, Pietro if I absolutely had to but honestly he doesn’t work well with anyone other than his sister. Getting into part-time avengers Logan if it’s a problem I can’t or won’t handle I can just toss him at it and he’ll sort it out. Same with Deadpool tbh. Carol if it had to do with Space politics (Thor’s a terrible politician, ask Loki). Loki if it had to do with big magics (honestly I’d go to him first in the case of magic, he has more free time than Doctor Strange and he’s definitely more powerful good god he’s fucking ancient jesus). 

Honestly the most consistently useful one is Spiderman. Peter would be covert, could manage to maneuver political minefields, could get good press (not including the daily bugle fuck those guys), is super OP and would be great company.

Iron Man I: She’s living with their cousin Morgan (from the comics) after having been thawed out as a baby - she doesn’t know much about Tony, and only really knows what the TV tells her. She’s living with Morgan to be safe, she knows that much.. but is really wanting a relationship with her older brother, so has been trying to contact him in order to get to know him better. **Ties in with her verse for Iron Man 2.**

Iron Man II: After the events of Iron Man I, Lillian has moved in with Tony. She thinks his tower is amazing, and is always getting in his hair. Inspired by the fact that he has become a superhero, this is around when she first starts coming up with designs for her own suit...as well as many, many ideas on how Tony can improve his own, because she worries about him so much. In her spare time, she spends a lot of time tinkering and talking to JARVIS. Or..being babysit by Pepper or Happy, in the event that Tony has to ‘go out.’ 

Avengers I: She is around when the whole ‘Avengers’ idea is brought up. Listening in, when she’s thought to be tinkering with things or to be asleep. Growing restless with having to stay inside all the time, she is determined to help in any way she can. Although most don’t think that this is such a great idea. (By this time, she’s began work on a robotic guard dog for the tower, as well as her own AI.) 

Iron Man III: Growing apart from her brother (but keeping an ever-watchful eye on him) Lillian is having as much trouble sleeping as he is. There are many times when she sneaks down into his lab - much more than she was - and uses it to build her own things. Aside from continuously hacking the safety features put up to keep her from getting out of the tower or into the lab, she’s began taking in animals after going outside when she knows that she’s not supposed to on her own. 

Much of which is lost, when their home is blown to bits. She falls quiet during the time that Tony is believed to be dead, and nearly gives up on ever seeing him again when her attempts to hack SHIELD and make them help her look for him all seem to fail. Having tried harder than before to make her own weapons to keep them all safe, she is injured while trying to help keep Aldrich from taking her, thus landing her in the hospital.

She has yet to move in with Tony and Pepper in their house. She’s been staying in the tower still, mainly to keep her safe. When her brother goes missing after his house is blown up, she finally finishes her own set of armor - after being told repeatedly that she didn’t need to make any - and sets out to find her brother. From there on, she is relentlessly tagging around with Tony despite that she shouldn’t even be there. 

**Whichever you prefer, we can work with either!**

Avengers II: Now living in a secure compound, Lillian is watches over things more carefully. She is helping Tony as much as she can, mostly to keep herself from always thinking that he’s going to die. She’s grown closer to the other Avengers, taking them on as her honorary family members; all of them addressed as her ‘uncles,’ save for Natasha, whom she calls ‘Auntie Nat.’ Insisting that she’s old enough, she accompanies Tony whenever he allows her to, although their views on things don’t always coincide. (She still thinks that the invasion of New York was fishy, and thinks there’s more to it than everyone else does.) 

Lillian spends some time staring at the scepter brought back after their mission, but is, of course, as left out of Ultron’s creation as everyone else is. (Although because she’s been nosy before when she was bored, has some idea that he exists.) 

Determined to be involved, she is in and out of the events to follow. **This can vary, I’m leaving it open on purpose.** 

Captain America: Civil War - Lillian takes the side of her uncle Steve, and has a lot of conflict with her brother over it. She believes that people have a right to their privacy, although she does still feel bad for those caught in the cross-fire. In the end, she thinks that having people who are heroes have to register their true identities will cause more harm than good, and sticks to this. Thus why she is heartbroken over the fact that her honorary family is split up, as well as entirely lost on how to feel about learning who killed her and Tony’s parents. 

This is also when she first catches sight of a much younger hero around her own age, and begins to take interest in watching him show up in various news media. 

Spider-Man: Homecoming - **I still need to see this movie! I am going off of what Wikipedia says that the plot is!** After the events of the Civil War between heroes, Lillian takes notice that her older brother is acting oddly. Someone new has been over, and she’s determined to find out who. But not expecting to develop a huge crush on. 

It is around this time that she begins to develop the idea that if she can’t make a suit of her own, if someone else her age has powers and Tony seems to be (reasonably) alright with it.. then maybe she can too. She begins work on trying to understand how Peter’s powers work, and ends up creating something that she never meant to. **If you want more information on this, just ask me! I have a whole idea for it and would love to tell!** 

Infinity War **Depending on plot, this can very.**

Infinity War 1 - Lillian is left behind on earth, much to her frustration. She helps in whatever ways that she can, though she still has to deal with people doubting her because she’s a teenager. Things become scary when people start vanishing, and she knows that she has to do something. 

Infinity War 2: Lillian is counted among the vanished. She was held in the same soul-realm as Peter and the others, where she gets caught up on  what all has happened. Even from here, she is trying to figure out how to help or how to get everyone out. 

Endgame verse  - MAJOR SPOILERS, PLEASE DON’T READ IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT!

Endgame 1:

Before Morgan is born - In the aftermath of the Infinity War, Lillian has taken it upon herself to protect New York (or what’s left of it.) She has her own suit, and in between patrolling the city and keeping who’s still there safe, she has been trying to figure out what happened to her brother and Peter. Any ways to get them both back to Earth. This is before he comes back finally, and she finally learns: Peter isn’t coming back - which hurts, really badly. 

After Morgan is born - Lillian is living with her brother, Pepper, and Morgan in their home. She still misses Peter, and won’t really talk about him. A lot of her time is spent with Morgan or in making things with Tony in her tiny make-shift lab, which is why she is more than ready to take the other Avengers up on their offer to try and fix things after what Thanos did. 

While they are getting back the stones: Lillian refuses to stay at the house, but at the compound she elects to stay behind to help stabilize things. She is extremely anxious, But does what she can to help sort things out. Each time they do anything, she warns them not to do anything that gets them killed. Losing Nat, she falls silent - slowly losing hope that it’s going to work. 

The fight - She is a part of the fight, doing whatever she can to help. She has less real training or battle experience than the others, but manages to hold her own - and mostly sticks by Peter when he shows up, in her old suit that she made. With a few upgrades, of course. 

Endgame 2: 

Lillian does not show up until during the fight. She ends up doing a lot of dodging and trying not to die while trying to take stock of everything - this is before she sheds her symbiote, so she uses it to fight. Still mostly sticking by Peter, as she doesn’t have much experience fighting things like this, and is most comfortable sticking with him since everyone else seems to know what they’re doing. 

AFTER Endgame 

1: After everything is over, Lillian is having a hard time coping with a world where her brother is everywhere, but nowhere at the same time.She spends more time with Morgan than ever before, telling her stories about her brother whenever she has the chance - and when she doesn’t end up breaking down over it. Any time that she’s not spending it with Morgan or Pepper, is spent either going on patrols as Iron Born (which is what she calls herself, in tribute to her brother, as if to say that she’s been ‘born from the iron left behind’) she is desperately trying to figure out how to resurrect her brother. 

And although she doesn’t tell anyone what she’s up to until she absolutely has to, She finally does tell Peter how she feels about him. 

2: **An Alternative** Tony is alive, and Lillian is keeping a close eye on him. She’s doing all she can to help him recover, as well as watch over Morgan with Pepper. She’s torn on if to remain a hero so Tony doesn’t have to, but keeps herself as busy as ever with her inventing. While trying to decide what she’s going to do with herself, Lillian makes new tech as presents for her super family who are still out fighting to keep people safe. 

In coming so close to losing them all, Lillian finally tells Peter how she feels about him.

Bucky Barnes x Reader

Summary:  Modern!AU You hate James Barnes with a burning passion and the feeling is entirely mutual. Just when you think things can’t get any worse, you are tricked into attending his sister’s wedding as his girlfriend. Stuck with a bunch of strangers, you come up with a set of rules that are not going to last long.

“What the hell are you wearing?” Bucky burst out laughing when he saw you.

You had followed his mother and sisters to the wedding venue so you hadn’t seen him since you had left that morning. Becca’s prom dress fitted you just right, but it wasn’t the most appropriate outfit for a wedding.

It was a shimmering purple dress with lots of frills.

“You look like a sparkling plum,” he said, doubling over in laughter.

“Fuck off!”

He finally controlled his laughter enough to speak. “I saved you a seat next to Peggy. The wedding’s about to start.”

“Where’s Dot?”

“No idea.”

Bucky turned back to the door when his mother hissed his name. He excused himself and walked back to the flower girl. He squatted down to talk to the little girl who was staring off into space. Her hands were shaking hard as she held onto the little basket.  

He took a fistful of petals and let them trickle through his fingers. She giggled happily and gave him a big hug. You met Bucky’s eyes before you reluctantly let the usher direct you to your seat.

You greeted Steve and Peggy as you sat down. The musicians were tuning their instruments and you took a moment to look at your surroundings.

Dot was sitting on the groom’s side since her fiancé was one of Henry’s best man. She was in the seat closest to the aisle. She kept her eyes on you as the quartet started playing the famous Pachelbel Canon.

Her fiancé slowly walked arm in arm with Lizzie up the aisle toward Henry. Bucky and Mary followed them and as he walked past Dot, she brushed her hand against his. Your hands balled into fists at your sides.

The ceremony was long and, quite frankly, pretty boring. You were mulling over the events of the last couple of days with a scowl on your face. The night before, Bucky had taught you a bit of sign language, mostly bad words and insults. You would be lying if you said you hadn’t flirted a bit with him.

His smile made your stomach do flip-flops. It was very confusing because you were not ready to admit –even to yourself- that the man you hated more than anything made your heart beat faster.

His sister was saying her vows when your eyes met his. He frowned at you, silently asking why you looked so gloomy.

You gave him a little shrug. You nodded towards Dot, then you made a b-handshape and placed the tip of your fingers on your chin. ‘Dot’s a bitch.’ Bucky chuckled quietly, trying not to attract attention.

You spent the rest of the ceremony signing the dirty words he had taught you. Bucky tried to discreetly reply to you, but it was difficult since he was facing the entire crowd.

He pointed toward you, then closed his hand while moving it in a circle in front of his face. You frowned, not knowing what it meant. He smiled at you and clapped along with the rest of the guests as Henry kissed Rebecca.

You walked up to him after the ceremony. “What does that mean?” you asked, mimicking the gesture.

“You’re beautiful,” he answered, brushing his thumb against your cheek.

You blinked at him, at a loss for words, and he smiled tenderly. He took your hand and led you away from the crowd. Unfortunately, you couldn’t escape his mother, she had eyes everywhere.

Winnie wanted to get pictures of the two of you with the rest of the family. You tried to reason with Bucky. You were his fake girlfriend and wedding pictures are a big deal, but he only squeezed your hand tighter.

An hour later you finally sat down at your assigned table. Bucky introduced you to everybody at the table.

“You already know Steve and Peggy,” he said, then turned to a woman with long dark hair and a man with bleached-blond hair. “And these two troublemakers are Pietro and Wanda Maximoff.”

“I used to babysit them,” Steve said, a smile on his lips. “You guys are adults now, it makes me feel old.”

Peggy chuckled as she rubbed small circles over her tiny baby bump. “It’s good to know you have experience with kids, darling.”

You all laughed with her, Steve playfully rolled his eyes before he started a conversation with Pietro.

Bucky looked at the small crowd near the buffet table and his eyes widened for a second before a large smile spread across his lips. He quickly excused himself and crossed the room to kneel beside the flower girl.

He raised his hand above his head and gave her a high five. He spoke to her, probably telling her that she had done a great job during the ceremony. You watched him put a hand on his chest, somewhat dramatically, as the little girl twirled in place to show off her pretty dress.

You chuckled to yourself, unable to tear your eyes away from him. A good-looking twentysomething ran towards the little girl, she had panic written all over her face. She scolded the little girl who quickly rushed back to the kids’ table.

Bucky got to his feet and smiled at the twentysomething before he nodded toward the far corner of the room. She followed him. A strange feeling bubbled up inside you, one you remembered all too well.

Jealousy.

You tried to push the feeling away, knowing it would only cause you pain. He wasn’t your boyfriend, he wasn’t even your friend. He was just Natasha’s annoying neighbour.

You suddenly stood up from your chair, startling Wanda and Peggy, and headed to the buffet table. When Bucky joined you, you were aggressively scooping a spoonful of mashed potatoes onto your plate.

He stood too close for your liking so you shifted a bit further away from him. He glanced sideway at you and frowned.

“Something wrong?”

“No.” Your voice sounded harsher than you had intended.

“Okay, you’re a bad liar,” he chuckled awkwardly. “C’mon, what’s going on?”

With a loud sigh, you threw the spoon back into the bowl and turned to face him. “You know what? We’re supposed to be a couple, but as soon as you have the opportunity to hit on a girl, you-”

“Wow, wait, what?” he interrupted you.

“I saw you with that girl!”

He stared at you for a second before he started laughing quietly. You put your plate down and crossed your arms over your chest. The fact that he was laughing at you infuriated you even more.

“You’re an idiot,” he said, still laughing. “That girl was hired to watch the kids. She’s my sister’s girlfriend, I found out yesterday and my parents don’t know Lizzie is dating a girl. I wanted to make sure she was right for my little sister. Just like I would have done if she’d been dating a guy.”

“Oh,” you replied lamely, uncrossing your arms.

“Are you jealous?” He leaned closer, taunting you.

“No!” you gasped.

“I think you are.”

Bucky hesitated a bit before he cupped the side of your face and let his thumb brush your jaw. Your body betrayed you and leaned into his touch. Then, your eyes snapped open and you quickly pulled away from him.

“I have to go.”

You bolted out of the room before he could say anything. He called out your name, but you kept walking.

Once you were finally outside, you breathed out a sigh of relief. You shivered slightly as the cold night air hit your bare arms and legs. 

Men like him were dangerous and you couldn’t let him hurt you. They’re like incubi. They seduce their prey, suck the life out of them and leave... although today they are better known as fuckboys.

You put your back against the wall, slid down and sat in an attempt to calm yourself.

Pulling your phone out of your bra, you decided against calling Natasha and looked through your contacts until you found Maria’s number. She picked up after the second ring.

“Tell me I’m crazy,” you blurted out without even saying hello. “I need someone to yell at me.”

“Why? What’s going on?”

Through the phone, you heard a sharp intake of breath and the sound of a door closing. You had her undivided attention.

“Oh, right!” she said as she remembered your previous conversation. “You’re with that guy, the one you don’t like.”

“Yeah.” You closed your eyes, trying to find your words. “You’re a no-bullshit kind of person, right? So tell me I can’t develop feelings for someone I don’t like. Tell me that three days can’t change everything.”

You waited, but she didn’t say anything. After a moment, she let out a forceful sigh. “I can’t tell you that. You have feelings for someone, it’s not crazy. It’s completely normal.”

“I don’t have feelings for Bucky,” you gasped, annoyed. “He’s annoying and... moody... and-”

“You like him,” Maria interrupted. “I saw it the moment he walked into the restaurant. It was like I wasn’t even there anymore.”

“No,” you shouted. “It’s not one of those ‘I’ve always loved you and now I’m seeing you’ moments.”

“Okay, but maybe it’s a ‘I didn’t particularly like you and now I think you’re not that bad’ moment.”

She gave you some time to think it over. You worried your bottom lip between your teeth for a moment. She was right.

“Yeah, he’s not that bad,” you admitted.

“Halleluiah,” Maria exclaimed, making you chuckle. “You don’t have to jump into a relationship. You can just have a little fun, but you have to talk to him.”

“You make it sound like he has feelings for me.”

“Oh, sillyhead,” she laughed softly. “Do you know why little boys pull little girls’ pigtails on playgrounds?” She didn’t wait for an answer. “Because they like the girls and that’s the only way they know how to get their attention.”

After she ended the call, you decided to head back inside and find Bucky. It took a lot of strength to push yourself off the ground and open the door. You didn’t have a whole speech prepared, you just hoped for the best.

You heard Bucky say your name and you turned toward the sound. He walked down the hallway toward you and you suddenly realized you had absolutely no idea what to say to him. He stopped an arm's length away.

“I thought you were gone.”

“Where would I go?” you replied.

“My parents’ house.”

“Alone and in the middle of the night?” you scoffed.

He shrugged. “I wouldn’t be surprised. You keep pushing me away.”

He tried to look casual, but he remembered the look in your eyes when he had cupped your face. You had leaned into his touch, sought his warmth, even if for just one second, but then your eyes sprang open in alarm and he mistook your fear for disgust.

It hurt more than he was willing to admit. Seeing you run away from him was the final blow.

“I’m sorry if I’ve made you uncomfortable. It wasn’t my intention,” he said, looking you in the eye. “I was trying to be... funny, I guess. I wanted to make you laugh.”

“Laugh?” you repeated, frowning and cocking your head to one side.

He groaned and raked a hand through his hair, messing it up before the silky strands obediently fell back into place. He opened his mouth and closed it, as if he couldn’t find the right words.

“Every time you laugh,” he started to explain while gesturing furiously. “I have this warm, fuzzy feeling in my stomach and it spreads through my whole body and it feels so good.”

“Don’t do that,” you whispered.

You closed your eyes and focused on slowing your heartbeat. And then he understood, it wasn’t disgust he saw in your eyes. It was fear.

“No, don’t shut yourself off. Not with me,” he warned, taking a step forward. “I know you felt it -that spark between us.”

“What do you want from me?” you cut him off.

“I want...” Bucky looked around frantically, trying to express feelings he had never felt before.

He wanted to talk for hours in bed on lazy Sunday mornings. He wanted to hold your hand as you both walked through Central Park at night.

He wanted to tease you, say stupid things and make you laugh. He wanted to wrap his body around yours, to feel you against him, to keep you safe and happy.

“-you,” he answered simply. “I want you.”

You closed the distance between you and brought his lips down to yours. Initiating the kiss enabled you to control everything. You abandoned yourself completely and kissed him hard.

He stumbled slightly and backed you up against the wall, one hand against it for support. Yet, he made no move to take control of the kiss and, instead, let you savour him.

The thought of someone catching sight of you made you dizzy with desire and Bucky’s free arm wrapped around your waist, holding you up. You pulled back slightly and began trailing open-mouthed kisses along his jaw, then his neck.

“Yes, keep going,” he moaned. “Right there!”

He arched into you when you found that sweet spot just behind his ear and laved it with your tongue. You bit, sucked and licked his tender flesh, satisfying an animalistic need to mark him, to let everyone know that he belonged to you.

When you pulled back, your eyes widened slightly. An angry red mark stood in stark contrast to his pale skin. Bucky shivered when you traced it with the tip of your forefinger.

He took a step back, a dopey look in his eyes as he stared into nothing. His tie was loose and his shirt was almost completely untucked. He tried to say something, but his brain was too fuzzy to figure out how to speak.

Instead, he touched his lips; they were still warm and tingly.

You couldn’t handle these sudden feelings, so the irrational part of your brain took over. You had to get away from him.

“I’m sorry,” you said softly.

You ducked your head in shame and rushed back into the main room, leaving Bucky confused and dazzled in the middle of the hallway.

Since I know my blog can be a little disorganized, I thought I’d make a post so that everyone who requested a fic can know kinda when to watch out for the one they requested!

• Inconvenient Illness - Steve has bad case of the flu, but the kids need him so he hides it and toughs it out until he just can’t anymore. • Dinner with the Hendersons - As far as Steve and Dustin are concerned, they’re brothers, and Mrs. Henderson couldn’t be happier. - possibly a holiday fic - probably a oneshot (Characters: Dustin, Steve, Mrs. Henderson)

• Stages of Recovery - Steve’s beating from Billy leaves him more severely injured than he’d expected and he’s having trouble coping - (Trigger Warnings: seizures, depression) (Characters: Steve, The Party, Joyce, Hopper, you’ll see a little bit of Nancy and Jonathan, but probably not a whole lot)

• Like a Fish to Water - The Party plans a beach day, but El doesn’t know how to swim, so Hopper asks Steve to teach her (Characters: El, Steve, Hopper, you’ll see some of the rest of the party but not a whole lot - probably a oneshot)

• Nancy…? - Steve needs his appendix removed, and Mike wonders if he really does look like his sister, because damnit, this is the third time!

• A Different Kind of Challenge - Steve gets roped into watching Holly Wheeler for an afternoon and proves once and for all that he really is a damn good babysitter... although it may not feel like it at the time. (Characters: Steve, Holly, Mike, Nancy, Karen -- probably a oneshot)

• Cat People - While hanging out with Dustin at his home one day, Steve comes to learn that he loves cats – well, at least this cat – much to Dustin’s amusement. (Characters: Steve, Dustin, Mrs. Henderson, Tews the cat - probably a oneshot)

• Reinforcements - Steve comes down with a bad case of the stomach flu and the kids try to help. It gets too bad for the kids to handle, though, and they call Joyce and Hopper for help. (Characters: Steve, the Party, Joyce, Hopper)

• Rescue - The Bad Men take Steve to find out where El is, which of course the teenager refuses to divulge, resulting in injury. Cue the kids coming to the rescue, with a little help. (Characters: Steve, the Party, Nancy, Jonathan, Joyce, Hopper)

• Fatherly Instincts - Steve sees Billy and Tommy picking on the kids and takes matters into his own hands; finally winning one for himself and the kids. (Characters: Steve, the Party, Billy, Tommy – probably a oneshot)

• Everyone Needs Mothering Sometimes - Steve has become the Party’s designated ride during this incredibly cold and snowy winter when they can’t ride their bikes or skateboard to get around town. …That is until he breaks his leg and can no longer preform this task. Now the mothers of the Party have to take turns running a carpool for the kids… and Steve. - or Steve has the middle school experience he never got to when he was a kid. (Characters: Steve, the Party, Joyce, Karen Wheeler, Mrs. Henderson, Mrs. Sinclair, maybe Mrs. Mayfield/Hargrove, I’m not sure yet)

• Playing Favorites - Every parent plays favorites with their children whether they mean to or not, and Steve Harrington is no exception. Dustin knows this and uses it to his advantage whenever he can, much to the annoyance of the rest of the party. (Characters: Steve and the Party - probably a oneshot)

• One Hell of a Long Night - Steve’s had the shit beat out of him, fought demodogs, burned down some other demential thing he still doesn’t totally understand, and now just to add insult to injury, he has the flu. (Characters: Steve, the Party, Hopper, Joyce, Nancy, Jonathan - probably a one or maybe a two shot)

• The Lost Brother - Steve has been hiding his abilities since he’d found out he had them when he was very young, just wanting to fit in. But now in the tunnels of the upside down, he has no choice but to use them to keep the kids safe from the demodogs. - or, Steve is one of the children that Brenner experimented on and El finds out she has a brother. (Characters: Steve, the Party, Hopper, Joyce, probably Brenner and Kali in flashbacks)

• Always Have Your Back - Steve protects Will from the bullies at school, and Will helps Steve when things get too bad at home. (Characters: Steve, Will, Joyce, possibly the rest of the Party, and Jonathan and Nancy)

• Draw Up the Adoption Papers - El becomes Steve’s not-so-secret favorite of his gang of children. After everything she’s been through, he just can’t say no to her and she gets pretty much whatever she wants when Steve’s in charge. - or, Four times Steve had a soft spot for El, and one time El had a soft spot for Steve. (Characters: Steve, El, the Party, probably a little bit of Hopper)

• Stupid Teenagers - Steve takes a night off from responsibility and hates every second of it. Thankfully Nancy and Jonathan are there to help. [Warnings: underage drinking] (Characters: Steve, Nancy, Jonathan, Billy)

• Six Kids and a Puppy - The Byers have a new puppy, and it’s cute as hell. …It’s also a goddamn nightmare to look after, just like the rest of those little shits. - or Steve gets roped into babysitting the party and a puppy at the same time; needless to say, it doesn’t go smoothly. (Characters: Steve, the Party, a little bit of Joyce, possibly Nancy and/or Jonathan - probably a oneshot)

• Keep a Strong Face - Steve’s leg gets broken during an adventure with the kids, but they need his help, so he keeps pushing himself despite the agonizing pain until he collapses from pain and fatigue. Cue the kids freaking out and trying to take care of him despite his protests. (Characters: Steve, the Party, possibly Joyce and/or Hopper)

• Line of Fire - Things don’t go exactly as planed on Steve’s first day of the force working with Hopper – thankfully he remembered to wear that stupid vest. (Characters: Steve, Hopper, possibly the Party – probably a oneshot)

• A Pretty Damn Good Father -- Several years after becoming a sort of surrogate father figure for the Party, Steve is left with a newborn of his own and isn't entirely sure he knows what he's doing. (Characters: Steve, the Party, Hopper, Joyce)

The Campaign - Introductions

The First of a series about The Party’s first D&D campaign. This is sort of just setting the stage and more is going to come soon, but if you have any suggestions please let me know! And if you like it let me know as well - that’s great motivation to keep writing.

    Trying to explain Dungeons and Dragons to someone who had never played before was usually pretty difficult - not because the game was complicated, but because people always seemed to think they knew how to play it already. “It’s simple” Max started, staring down at the simple game board and pieces in front of her, “I roll for the number of tiles I can move, right?”

    “No, not at all, actually.”

    Max narrowed her green eyes and punched Mike in the ribs. “What do you mean no? That’s how every game works.”

    “Not this one. Just let me try and explain it, okay? I’m the Dungeon Master. That means I come up with the story and I play all the NPC’s-”

    “Non-playable characters” Dustin supplied, his smile radiating throughout the dimly lit basement. It was his idea to get The Party together to actually play through a campaign, and using the new Supercoms they had all gotten for Christmas (Eleven was the most excited about her present) he organized the day, time, and snack situation. It was a Friday afternoon when they began - right after school, so Max and El could just go straight to Mike’s house. His parents were gone on a vacation and Nancy had offered to babysit - which really meant she would be hanging out with Jonathan and Steve Harrington would be babysitting. Which really meant he would be picking up (and paying for) the pizzas. Dustin had even made sure it was okay with Chief Hopper - who only agreed because Steve would be watching over the whole thing, and he had gotten a job working at the Police Station after graduation instead of joining the family business or going to college. It was a good Plan C.

    “If they’re non-playable, how come Mike gets to play them?” Max asked stubbornly.

    “Because I’m the Dungeon Master. It’s like I’m the story-teller-”

    “Or a teacher at school-” Lucas chimed in.

    “So we’re the main characters like Luke Skywalker and Han Solo and Leia, and Mike is like, Darth Vader and the Emperor and all the random characters like R2D2 and C3PO and the aliens in the Cantina-”

    “Okay, Dustin. I get it.” Max was rubbing her temples. “What else?”  

    Mike looked like he was really coming to life as he continued. “So you play as your character, and you can do basically anything. There’s some governing rules and an overall direction for the story that I came up with, but you guys decide how it progresses. You can kill everyone in the town, or you can talk to them, or whatever else you want.” It took another hour for Mike to try and explain the combat and spellcasting system to Max, but she finally groaned in agony when Mike was trying to explain Armor Class ratings and just made him start the damn game already. She would learn as they played.

    Eleven, on the other hand, was very invested in every word that Mike spoke. She was quiet the entire time - which is how she usually acted when she was learning something, whether it was at school or watching TV or during Hopper’s “Word of the Day”. Her brunette hair had grown longer over the past year, but even though it was longer it was still curly and El found herself twirling those curls whenever she was learning something in the same way that Mike liked to fidget. They had all created their character sheets already - part of Dustin’s preparation for this marathon of gaming - and now Eleven sat with that sheet in front of her, a note pad, two pencils, and a too many dice to count. Mike was now setting the stage for the adventure, and as he spoke she found herself slowly descending into the world he was shaping, as if the game board itself was enveloping her and her friends. She always loved language - it was something she struggled with the most in school, and so it felt the most rewarding to learn - and she soon found that Mike wasn’t just good at making up stories, he had a real talent for them. They had all agreed to create Level 1 characters for Max and Eleven’s sake (“You would die if we took you on our real adventures!” Lucas insisted), and so this was a completely new experience for everyone.

    “It has been several years since the events of the great war in Dirkshire. Despite an uneasy truce, hostilities are still high between the tribes of the land: the Golden Hammers and the Emerald Leaves. I know much of the History of this village, and although I am young I have learned much of the great war and both the societies of the land. My flaw is that I really want to go out and see the world, no matter if that adventure is dangerous.” El let out a small sigh and set her piece of paper down. Mike smiled at her, and his eyes seemed to say Good job. She allowed herself a quiet smile in return.

    Will cleared his throat and with the confidence of someone who has played this game many times before began to speak. “My name is Will, and many call me Will the Wise. I am the oldest human here, and although I may appear blind, the Goddess of Light whom I follow has gifted me with Truesight. I know many powerful spells, and I remember when the river first became polluted and when the game first became thin. My Goddess has called me to this life, but I am very stubborn and I don’t like to listen to anyone else’s opinion besides my own or my Goddess.”

    Lucas went next, describing how his character was a Hunter who often went to the forest and was particularly upset with the Emerald Leaves. Dustin was a Dwarven warrior who had fought in the war for the Golden Hammers but had recently settled down in the village after the war was over, putting his life of combat behind him. Max was the last one to go, and after a very heated discussion with Mike about the fact that zoomer was not technically a class she could choose from, they had reached a mutual agreement that if she could make up all of the stats and backstory so that is made sense, Mike would allow it. It was clear that Lucas had helped with this process.

“My name is Max and I am a Rogue Zoomer, which essentially means that I start with a mount - he’s a horse and his name is Dart.” At this, Dustin smiled softly and mouthed Nice name. “I am a merchant from out of town, but my fisherman are telling me that the river is being polluted and it is affecting my business. My flaw is pretty obvious, I’m greedy.”

Mike cleared his throat and nodded his reluctant approval“You all already know why this meeting has been called” he began in an old, wise voice. “We need to decide what to do about the threats to our way of life. It seems as if the Golden Hammers and Emerald Leaves are going to attack one another again soon. Our village is on the edge of both of their kingdoms, and it will likely become the battleground of this second great war. We have diplomats from both of their kingdoms in town, and if we speak with either of them I’m sure they could tell us more about their plans to woo us to become an ally of either kingdom. In fact, making money doing something that you enjoy is not only super rewarding, but it’s also one of the most productive uses of our time – especially after we’ve called it quits from full-time work.

Let’s say that you have a passion for earning money, but you haven’t been able to put your finger on how exactly to make that happen. I’ve been there.

The other day, I got to ask Andrew Schrage, co-owner of the very pofpular Money Crashers website that gets millions of monthly pageviews about what it’s like to run a highly successful side gig and any tips he might have for those of us who want to follow in his footsteps.

1. For folks who want to earn a little extra money, what are their options? And, do these options NEED to be online?

When it comes to earning a little extra money, the possibilities are almost endless. You could do something as simple as pet-sitting for neighbors, or even completing various small tasks for folks on the website Fiverr.

If your goals are more grandiose, starting a blog is an option, as is an actual small business.

It depends on several things:

your available amount of free time,

your skill set,

and how much you want to earn

Most folks might find that online side gigs will be a better fit for them, but there are plenty of offline opportunities as well. Besides the ones mentioned, a few others to consider are housecleaning, landscaping, personal assistant, recycling throwaways, or even tutoring.

2. What are the best side gigs for people who don’t have a lot of free time?

If you don’t have a lot of free time, you still have options. In that scenario, you would want to look for a side gig  that can generate the most money using the least amount of time.

An online reselling business would be an opportunity if you have a lot of stuff around the house that you can unload for cash. Consulting would be another area, since you’d simply be relying on your skill set, experience, and talents, and from there you’d simply be recounting your tips and strategies. A remote personal assistant would be another opportunity, although your free time would probably have to be interspersed throughout the day in order to be effective in that position.

3. Do you need a lot of money to start a side gig? What are some options that don’t require a lot of startup cash?

You actually do not need a lot of money to start a side gig. If you’re simply looking to unload unneeded items around your house, you won’t need much more than an eBay or an Amazon account, some basic packing supplies (some of which you can get for free), and that’s about it.

Other side gigs which are service-oriented such as house-sitting, pet-sitting, or babysitting don’t require much startup cash, and neither does any sort of gig based on your personal knowledge and experience – in a consulting fashion.

4. How can I determine if I can handle a side gig?

This is a great question.

First of all, you need the available time. Think you don’t have it? Investigate some personal and professional time management tips online to see if you can free up the time needed.

Next, are you motivated? You should be unless you are completely debt-free with no monthly financial concerns and all of your long-term financial goals are taken care of.

Follow through will be needed as well. You not only need to start your side gig, but you have to commit to running it and hopefully expanding it. Most of the time, this takes a lot of hard work. So in a nutshell, if you can free up the time, you’re committed to your gig, and you want to see it flourish and grow, then you can probably handle it.

5. Once your side gig is off the ground, how do you market it?

There are a variety of ways to market your side gig once it’s off the ground. One of your best bets might be through social media. You can create accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and plenty of other sites to generate buzz about your biz.

You could also go more grassroots and focus on friends and family. Additionally, consider establishing accounts on business listing websites like Yelp, Urbanspoon, and Angie’s List, although those choices will depend a lot on your industry and the scope of your gig. Launching a blog or website is another option to market your gig, although you’ll need time and energy to make sure that it is a successful endeavor.

6. Do you have tips for cutting costs when starting a side gig?

When starting a side gig, cutting costs should be foremost since you probably don’t have a lot of available cash. You should save on supplies when possible by using whatever you have around your home if it is applicable, and definitely utilize social media in your marketing efforts since that strategy is basically cost-free. You can get free shipping boxes from either the USPS or UPS if your business is product-based.

Every penny counts in a side gig, so save wherever you can.

7. How can we research our industry? Do you need to look at competition or other challenges?

As far as what side gig industry to choose, there are two key things to look at.

One is, do you have any knowledge in the area? For example, if you’ve never shopped on Amazon and don’t really know what eBay is, then you might want to look elsewhere instead of choosing an Internet reselling business. Next, how much time do you have and when do you have it? If yours is limited or only late at night, maybe starting a blog and eventually making money off advertising revenues could be your cup of tea. You could work on that project whenever you want. Or you could really choose any other business that isn’t service-oriented or time-bound, so to speak.

Competition may come into play as well. For example, if you do an Internet search for legal help in your zip code and you get thousands of results, you might want to look elsewhere. As an additional example, if you’re looking into landscaping but a Craigslist query reveals multiple other folks who are offering the same service, you might want to find a less-competitive gig unless you’re confident that you can undercut the competition in price or better service.

Also, generally speaking, you should stick with a gig that you either already have experience in or think that you can get up to speed on quickly.

8. Side gig revenues can fluctuate. How should you handle this when/if your business gets off the ground?

This is another very good question. Once your side gig is up an running, revenues will probably fluctuate. There will be good months and bad months. What is most important in the beginning is that an abnormally good month should not be celebrated to excess. In most cases, it’s probably just an anomaly.

Instead, you should exercise restraint on a lot of fronts, including business expansion and personal spending. Put that month in the books as a win, bank the revenues and then keep them somewhere safe in case the following month isn’t quite as lucrative, which could happen. Not to overstate things, but success with a side gig is a win in and of itself, but abusing your revenues unnecessarily can be damaging to the long-term success of your gig or potential small business.

9. What tips do you have in regards to patience with a new venture regarding revenue?

When starting a side gig, unless you have an incredible stroke of luck, your venture probably will not see amazing profits or revenues in the beginning. That’s just how it goes in the world of being an entrepreneur. But that’s where the trait of patience takes precedence.

If you don’t see tons of revenue in the beginning, and especially if you start to doubt yourself, slow down. Understand that things take time and just because you’re not doing really well, in the beginning, doesn’t mean that success won’t eventually come.

The recommended game plan here is to stick to your goals and objectives, continue to work hard, and barring some unforeseen circumstance, you should ultimately achieve success. It’s not guaranteed, but it’s a definite possibility.

10. It seems like it’s recommended that a side gig is started while keeping your traditional job. What’s the reason behind that?

It is recommended that a side gig is started while keeping your traditional job, and there are many reasons for that.

First, it’s possible to do. All you need is some solid time-management practices and the gig can be started in your spare time.

Next, and more importantly, if you start a side gig that you have no idea whether it will succeed or not, relying on that as your sole source of income is a highly risky move. And if you go that route, you’ll likely be dealing with financial stress in the midst of getting your gig off the ground. That is not good. Also, you can use any revenues from your side gig to shore up your long-term financial goals that need it, such as retirement savings, an emergency fund, or to save for college for your kids.

11. Should you ever consider expanding your side gig into a full-fledged small business? What are a few tips regarding that transition?

You should definitely consider expanding your side gig into a full-fledged small business if that’s what you want to do.

Small business ownership presents a wide variety of perks including the ability to work your own schedule, be your own boss, and to be the leader of something you’re truly passionate about. On the other hand, if all you’re looking for is some extra cash, then that’s fine too.

But if you want to expand, one key question is deciding when to walk away from your traditional career. That should be decided using one important benchmark – when your side gig reaches the point where you can pay your monthly bills and survive financially on its revenues alone. Either that or if you’re close to that point and you are confident you’ll reach it in the near future.

Also, be careful when hiring. A side gig recently turned small business is probably not going to need a lot of help in the beginning. And, make sure that your commitment to stellar customer service is still high on your list. Lots of folks let this fall through the cracks when expanding and this can be very damaging to your newly formed small business.

Exactly a week ago I was involved in an accident at the fault of another driver. The other driver's insurance company (USAA) has been sitting on the case not doing a damn thing. I had to call them yesterday just to get them to read my accident report, and accept liability. They hadn't even contacted the policy holder! They told me that they would set me up with a rental car, and cover the fees. Today I went to Enterprise to pick up the rental car and was asked if the insurance company (USAA) had mentioned anything about a underage bracket fee. When I told them that they hadn't, the woman at enterprise contacted USAA. It was then that they stated that they would not pay for the underage fee (I am 19), which is about $22 per day. Naturally, I was completely outraged. Both my insurance company and USAA's offices are closed at this time, so I have to wait until tomorrow to contact them. I was told by my agent that because the accident wasn't my fault, ANY cost that is a result of the accident MUST be covered by the other driver's insurance company. What can I do about this? Hi and thanks for taking time to help me out. I have bought a BMW 540i (1997) back in January. I was really happy as this was my first car. Two weeks ago, I was driving to France and my gearbox died leaving me only with the first gear working. I went to a garage in France and we phoned the insurance but the insurance said that it cannot guarantee that it would cover me. They offered me to leave the car in France and to go back to London by myself. I refused to consider this option as I could not allow my self to stay in France (I had to go back to work) for more than the week-end and I could not afford to take the train/plane from Paris to London. The insurer said that they would not cover any costs associated with me going back to London. So I had to get the car back to London, and to drive it back home. I went to a garage where a very nice person accepted to take care of the car. He phoned the insurance and arranged everything. The insurer sent some engineers who inspected the car and the insurance said to the garage that they would only cover 65% of the costs...due to the mileage of the car (83,000 miles roughly). The garage has repared the car without asking me if I was ok to pay the last 35% and the insurer did not mention it to me either. I am going to call the insurance tomorrow to get more details about this story...but my concern is that : 1/ I am afraid of talking to them and to commit a mistake that could cost me more 2/ I don't know exactly what I am entitled to get and what are my resources in case they just refuse to change anything on this 3/ They ask me to pay the money upfront (around 2,000) and then I would have to make a claime but...I don't feel confident doing this..and I am far from having this money... I am really looking for help and advice here, I hope that someone will be able to assist, Thanks a lot, and have a very good evening
