after eddie introduces a demogorgon to one of his hellfire campaigns, the kids get a little squirmy. they're nervously looking at each other and aren't engaging as excitedly as they usually do. when he calls time, he watches dustin rummage through his backpack and produce a walkie talkie.
he watches, a bit dumbfounded, as the kid demands a 'check-in'. all at once, multiple different voices come over the channel. stating a name and then saying 'safe.' ("nancy, safe." "robin, safe." "max, safe.")
"steve?" dustin demands. there's only static. "steve!" a little more frantic this time.
"he left to pick you up." a female voice replies, "he's probably fine. you'll see him soon."
none of the kids look particularly pleased, and pack up hastily. eddie and the other hellfire members all share confused glances. he, more morbidly curious than anything else, follows the little sheep as they hurry out of the school.
dustin is fucking restless as they all stand in the empty parking lot. he won't stay still and none of them are answering any of eddie's questions. and he only gets more confused when a brown beemer pulls in, windows down and playing depeche mode through the speakers. dustin goes to sprint towards it, and he has to hold him by the collar to stop him getting run over.
the beemer pulls up and steve harrington, in all his glory, steps out, frowning. dustin wrenches out of eddie's grip and all but bodies the guy, wrapping arms tightly around his midsection. steve, still looking puzzled, hugs back. lucas and mike trail after dustin.
"we called a check-in." dustin says, a bit muffled from where his face is smushed into steve's shirt. steve goes sort of pale, and- and presses a goddamn kiss to the top of henderson's head before tightening the hug.
"shit, i'm sorry." and eddie believes him. he sounds so guilty. "i meant to replace the batteries before i left. sorry, i'm okay." dustin pulls back and scrubs at his eyes. lucas takes his place, though the hug he gives is more like one of those bro-hugs jocks seem to love. steve smiles regardless. he just ruffles mike's hair, who pouts in response but looks relieved nonetheless.
"asshole." he mutters. "rule four, walkies on at all times." steve nods as the kid half-heartedly waves goodbye to eddie and hops in the backseat of the beemer. lucas follows. dustin seems reluctant to walk around the car, to take his eyes off steve for even a second.
"you wanna stay over tonight?" steve asks, warm and gentle. he folds his arms and in that moment eddie thinks they look sort of like brothers. "robin and me were gonna watch some films. we can call your mom from mine."
the kid nods, looking a bit happier. steve slaps him on the back and motions him to get in the car. dustin swivels to hug and say goodbye to eddie (who sort of forgot he was physically present in this moment) before doing as he was told.
steve turns to eddie. which- whew! hi pretty eyes.
"sorry." he smiles and eddie can't for the life of him figure out what he's apologising for. "they, uh- yeah. them." he gestures vaguely at the car and eddie just chuckles.
"hey, man, no worries." he says, a little breathless that he's having a conversation with the steve harrington. "they okay? never seen henderson look so rattled." steve nods, then seems to think better of it and just shrugs. cocks his hip to the side (stop fucking staring at his hips, munson, lord!)
"they will be." he glances back at the beemer, which is now full of childish bickering. pauses to think and then asks, "you using demogorgons in your campaign right now?"
eddie blinks at him. "yes? yeah. what the fuck- how do you know what that is? what-" steve just laughs.
"long story." there's a haunted look in his eyes before he continues, "just, uh- that's probably what upset them. demogorgons and us- them, i mean-" he waves his hand. "bad memories. hard to explain, but... if you could..." he doesn't need to ask, seems like he doesn't know how or even if he's allowed.
"got it, ill tweak the campaign." harrington smiles at him, something small and genuine, and murmurs a thanks. offers him a fucking lift, which eddie declines, motioning to his van. harrington just nods, tells him to get home safe and then clambers back into the car, yells at the kids to put seatbelts on with all the exasperation of a single dad, and pulls away.
eddie watches them go, having seen a side of harrington he'd thought dustin had been lying about. steve harrington, the caring babysitter, everyone's older brother, a changed man.
he starts escorting the kids to the parking lot more often.

steve’s never been a strong reader.
the letters swim together on the page, and it frustrates him.
he doesn’t know why.
he wants to be able to experience the worlds that eddie gushes about to him, wants to experience that for himself.
so eddie starts reading to him.
eddie reads to him every night in bed, puts on character voices that has steve giggling into his shoulder. peers over eddie’s shoulder and reads along with him, finds it’s easier when eddie’s speaking out loud.
eddie never calls him “stupid,” never calls him any of the insults that his teachers called him back in highschool that made him feel insecure.
he just simply flicks the page over, giving steve a lopsided grin that has steve’s heart fluttering.
“i think you’re really gonna like this next part,” eddie says warmly, and steve smiles back, presses a kiss to the nape of his neck.
he really likes the next part—he always does.

I just can't get the image of after the final battle, and after Kas!Eddie killed Vecna that Eddie celebrates by dipping Steve and kissing him like that VJ Day picture. Meanwhile, in the background, Dustin looks happy for both of his friends. Nancy looks relieved that as it turns out, Steve was actually thinking of Eddie, and she doesn't have to reject Steve. Robin's face is probably a mix of joy and disgust that she's witnessing her best friend's tongue in a guy's mouth. She's happy for him, but she does NOT want to see that. Mike looks disappointed because let's face it, he did have a crush on Eddie. I mostly do writing prompts, but I can do drawing ones too. Does anyone want to bring this image to life? Obviously, there is no pressure, and it's up for grabs for anyone.

Steve Harrington has started sleep walking.
Backstory lately Steve hasn’t been sleeping well and after Nancy breaking up with him it’s been worse. But with out Steve knowing he has started to sleep walk and the only one who knows about it is Billy Hargrove who’s been getting phone calls from Steve.
So side note is Steve has a crush on billy without him even realizing it and has been calling Billy flirting with him.
Just an idea I had I have not written it.

"In order to beat this, you need a natural 20," Eddie said, everyone intensly listening.
Mike took a breath before releasing the di onto the table. Once it settled, everyone looked at it, blessed with the number 20. Everyone started celebrating, but Eddie interrupted
"Wait, wait," Eddie said, turning his attention to El. "Blood check."
Lucas and Dustin, who were sitting on either side of her, lifted her hands, inspecting her sleeves.
"She's clean!"
"Yes!" Mike exclaimed, kickstarting other cheers of excitement.
Jeff and Gareth exchanged looks.

Home sweet home
This is a set of scenes that lives rent free in my head. I am writing a fanfic/study/whatever, just a longer text about this, but as for now, let me share!
Steve's parents fuck off for good when Hawkins falls apart and leave Steve the house, probably because it wouldn't sell well with a garden in two pieces, thank you earthquake. Steve feels torn about it and gets drunk with his metalhead boyfriend, admitting that he wants to sell the house, the sooner the better, all the shitty memories and that. Unbeknownst to Steve, Eddie makes a few phone calls and the next morning, Robin, Nancy, Jonathan and Argyle rush in with boxes and trash bags and get to cleaning out the Harrington residence.
None of them talk about his parents and their departure, but Steve can feel that they're pissed off on his behalf, from the way that the level-headed and careful Nancy "accidentally" destroys his mother's treasured perfume collection, that Robin creates a huge yard sale sign that says "YOUR DREAMS CAME TRUE, THEY MOVED AWAY! EVERYTHING HAS TO GO!" and stabs it into the front lawn for all the neighbors to see. Argyle raids his mother's kitchen and bakes them all pizzas when they get hungry, then smokes a joint on the pristine carpet and when Steve remarks his mother would have hated that, he just smiles at him, blissed out, and mutters "good!" Jonathan visits his room to drop off some more boxes and freezes in the doorway. "That's one hideous wallpaper" he says and Steve just laughs because yeah, it is hideous and he's so glad he's leaving. Eddie helps Steve pack his room and gets ready to move him to his trailer until the house is sold, "seriously, Steve, this house is like a mausoleum, tomorrow you're coming with me and that's final." A concerned neighbor probably calls the Hawkins PD that some punks are trashing the Harrington property and when Hopper shows up to check what's going on, he just chuckles and remarks that Joyce keeps talking about getting better curtains, so if those go in the yard sale, he asked first, yeah?
In the evening, they are all tired, but they crash in the halfway packed living room and giggle at the stupid shit they found in the Harrington household. An idea flashes in Steve's head and he drags all of them upstairs, ransacking his father's office. Nothing important there, just a magnificent room to represent a shallow human being. They raid his alcohol stash and bring all the loot downstairs, taking one of Mr. Harrington's most prized trophies as an ashtray. On their way downstairs, Nancy stops and stares at the framed family pictures on the staircase. A perfect family, a successful man, a devoted wife and their son with so much potential. All of it lies. "Do you want to keep any of these?" she asks and when he shakes his head, she nods and takes them all down. While the rest of them discuss which bottle they should open first, Nancy comes back with an innocent smile, the photos and duct tape in one hand, a set of darts from Mr. Harrington's office in the other one. They end up playing darts in the living room, doing shots every time someone hit Mr. Harrington's face, spilling some alcohol on the carpet and overall desecrating the image of perfection and cleanliness Steve's parents cultivated for decades. There are still many pictures left and Nancy suggests that they could take them to her improvised shooting range for a celebration when the house sells. "Shooting at bottles gets boring after a while," she grins and slumps against Robin who is removing the latest photo target, Mrs. Harrington, and hums Ding Dong the Witch is Dead.
The morning finds all of them very hungover, munching on the leftover pizza and cleaning the place before they have to go to their respective homes, families and jobs. Robin is hugging a broom like a lover and swears she's never, ever drinking again. Nancy falls asleep standing next to the coffee machine before Jonathan peels her off the counter and accidentally pours baking soda in his coffee instead of sugar. Argyle and Eddie are mostly fine, chatting and covering holes from the less lucky dart throws. And Steve just stands there, between boxes and trash bags, watches them all, his friends, his boyfriend, and finally feels like his life might be beginning.

you froze. you froze as soon as he said the words. how could you not?
let’s rewind a bit…
it was just another night with steve. you had been dating for nearly three months, your relationship having started after all of the vecna nonsense came to a very open close. since beginning as friends, you both realized the feelings you had for one another went far beyond platonic.
as soon as the reunion between the groups commenced, he had began spouting off how he couldn’t lose you, promising you a date once things cooled down a little. in no time, you had become infatuated with one another.
you would often go over to his house to lounge around, study for classes, or simply sleep over. when he came over to your house he found your family rather standoffish, hence why he didn’t come over often. they reminded him of his own parents, arguing all the time.
you didn’t like it when he came over.
but when you were in his arms, curled up in his bed, you felt safe. you would play with his fingers as they danced on your skin. you would play with his hair as he rested in your lap. you would listen to his laugh vibrating through his chest.
you felt peace with him.
he was the closest thing you had to…
but tonight, as you tried to make dinner with him, failing miserably, something was different. it may have been an affect from burning the pasta sauce, or maybe it was because the meatballs were like rocks, but the air had changed, and not necessarily in a bad way.
“you’re ridiculous!” he called out as he fished out a piece of charred tomato from the bottom of the pot it was in. “how did you manage to burn the sauce?” he laughed heartily.
“i dunno!” you walked over to the meatballs. “a better question is why are these things so… tough?” you picked one up, crumbling it between your fingers.
“honey,” he walked over to you, placing a hand on your waist. “i’m sorry to break it to you, but, i don’t think you’re a very good chef,” you but back a laugh before grabbing a meatball, crumbling it before tossing it in your boyfriends face.
“ha,” you have a smug grin to him before wiggling out of his grasp. once your back was turned, for no longer than three seconds, you felt your boyfriends finger rubbing the burnt sauce across your cheek. “you. did. not!” you gasped as you turned to face him before grasping the sides of his face, turning it to smudge the pasta sauce on his face as well. “they say sharing is caring, right?!”
“oh, sweetheart,” he laughed before bringing his other hand to your cheek, effectively smearing the sauce all over your face. “you have plenty, dontcha think? if anything you’re hogging the sauce.”
you connected your lips with his this time, being sure to connect your lips with his cheek and neck after to spread the sauce over him. “some would say i’m quite generous,” you sassed with a bright grin.
his hands were cupping your messy face, “god, i am so in love with you.”
you froze. you froze as soon as he said the words. how could you not?
after a second, your smile began to diminish, your heart racing. his was doing the same. your brows furrowed as if you were lost in thought before you backed into the island. you took a deep breath, feeling panic settle in.
“hey,” steve said calmly. “calm down, breathe,” his hand rested on your shoulder as he used the other to guide your breathing. “i’m here. breathe.”
“steve-i,” you took another breath. “i have to go…” you nudged out of his grasp and didn’t bother cleaning your face before walking out of his door.
once you got to your car, you realized you couldn’t go home. your dad wasn’t away on work this week. there would be nothing but turmoil and chaos at your house. there was one other safe spot for you to go to. you used old wipes left in your car to wipe pasta sauce off your face before driving.
you went to the hill cerebro was once stationed on. it was the place you and steve went for your first date. it was the first place you had sex. there were nothing but good memories attached to it. it was… everything. yet somehow you couldn’t help but cry.
you sat on the ground, not even bothering looking up to the beautiful moon, toying with the overgrown weeds while crying your eyes out. why couldn’t you just be normal.
you love him. you love him more than anything. how could you just let him stand there, a saddened look in his eyes when you said nothing at all.
you ruined the best thing in your life because you were too much of a coward to say some words. you just didn’t want to end up like your parents, saying some words but not acting upon it. love in your house meant anger and frustration and brokenness.
steve deserved better. he deserved the best.
after around half an hour of moping, you heard a car engine turnover down the hill. your heart started racing, nobody ever came to the hill, that’s why it was your special spot.
“y/n!” you heard steve’s voice ring out worriedly. “y/n, i know you’re here,” you saw him walking towards you, a blanket in hand as his face softened upon seeing you. “hey,” he stilled as he approached you.
“hi,” you sniffled, using your sleeve to wipe your tears.
“i brought us a blanket,” he took a step closer. “if there still is an us?”
“yes, steve,” you sighed, soft sobs leaving your lips. “of course there’s still an us. there will always be an us.”
he sat beside you, wrapping the blanket around the both of your shoulders. “why-why can’t you tell me you love me? i know you do. i know you do. so why can’t you just… just say it?”
“steve,” you rested your head on his shoulder. “growing up, my parents said it all the time. but they were so hateful to one another. they were spiteful, and rude, and they would yell, and i don’t want that to be our fate!” you ranted out, feeling his hand gently massaging your shoulder. “you deserve better than to have the rest of your life all mixed up because of me.”
“you are nothing like them,” he reminded you, resting his cheek on your head. “you are kind, and patient, and courageous, and sure, you’re stubborn, but that’s in the best way possible,” he brought out a smile in you. “just because that’s how they are, that does not mean that’s how we’re going to end up, not if we have anything to do about it.”
“i’m sorry,” you cried out, letting his shirt catch your tears. “i am, y’know?”
“you what?” he teased. “oh, i know you’re stubborn, always have. it’s no secret, sweetheart,” you shoved his shoulder back once more before repositioning yourselves.
you sat straddling his lap, your legs on either side of him as your hands cupped his face, “i am in love with you.”
his smile was brighter than you’d ever seen before he moved his face closer to yours, connecting your lips with passion. sealing the promise of a happy future, of patience, and kindness, and love, with a kiss.

Eddie Munson's Type...
Tumblr media
I can see Eddie having various types but two stick out in particular.
He likes a prim and proper partner. Someone to corrupt, someone who starts off innocent and then he tarnishes. He finds it such a turn on when someone's very innocent and by the book and then he gets his hands on them and he turns them into something more... filthy. He also likes them keeping up the innocent persona in public so that he can have a dirty little secret with them.
He also likes a rocker, gothic partner. Someone who's got tattoos, likes metal, smokes weed and drinks beer. A freak. He likes someone who's just like him; a loner. He likes the idea of 'us freaks gotta stick together'. He enjoys the stares people give the two of them out in public, the glares and the jeers. He likes playing up to people's ideas of him so will always enjoy giving them a show. He likes someone that knows what it's like to be an outcast, that knows what it feels like.
He doesn't care about body weight or shape. He'll happily date plus size. He cares more about the person and if they can keep up with him more than how much they weigh.
Honestly I think Eddie would happily be with anyone regardless of anything. As long as they have a pulse. I just like two think of these two scenarios, the prim and proper and the freak and the two freaks.

AU where both Max and Steve are genderfluid and have a strong sibling dynamic because they bonded over being genderfluid without even knowing the word. Robin’s the one who eventually tells them it’s called genderfluid when Steve confessed to her after she confesses being a lesbian. The first time Eddie accidentally shows up during a girls night, his brain short circuits for a moment because Steve Harrington has sparkly purple nail polish and a pink frilly skirt with an oversized white sweater and he though Steve was a cishet man and that brings a whole lot of new possibilities to the table because Steve is definitely not cis so there’s a possibility he’s not straight and what if…
Max, after Steve and Robin, tells Lucas first. He’s confused at first but he’s so supportive and he tries to include Max in with the rest of his friends when they’re doing activities that would be concerned more boyish. He tries teaching her basketball but instead learns to skateboard with him because he can tell they don’t enjoy it like he does (they both still play basketball sometimes though). Max shows up one day with his hair braided like a crown one day, courtesy of Steve, because he didn’t like how long it was that day and Lucas says he likes it up like that.
One day everyone’s over at the Byers house having just a fun hang out day (because sometime they just all needs to be together and make sure they’re all safe). Steve, Eddie, and Robin haven’t shown up yet, but the rest of the party is there. Max has on a blue bracelet but that’s not an odd sight at all. What gets them is Lucas using he/him pronouns when talking about Max. The younger party was going to question it, but Steve walks in and Steve wearing a a skirt is much more of a pressing matter for them. Lucas takes one look at Steve and the pink bracelet she’s wearing that he knows Max made, looks over at Max who nods slightly, and he just nods back. Erica does not care, though she does wonder if that’s why Steve was so willing to play dolls with her when Steve used to babysit. Nancy is simply smart and hangs out with Robin too much to not just already know what’s going on, even if she doesn’t exactly know the word for it. Argyle is just Argyle, he knows and doesn’t give a shit and just says “That’s a pretty skirt my gal” and goes back to whatever he was going. And Steve looks so nervous suddenly because Dustin is yelling and Mike looks actually kind of disgusted and Will and El and Jonathan just look sort of confused and Hopper and Joyce aren’t even in the room, they’re in the kitchen, so she can’t immediately see their reaction. Robin, Eddie, and Max are quick to plant themselves between Steve and the rest of the household, Eddie getting Dustin to shut up for two second while Robin and Max are glaring at Mike who actually takes a step back. The commotion fully stops when Hopper comes in yelling asking what’s going on. He doesn’t see the skirt since Eddie and Robin are in the way, but Joyce does along with how scared Steve looks. They lock eyes for a moment when the room is completely silent and Joyce can see she’s two seconds from a panic attack. That snaps her into her mama bear mode and she’s instantly tells everyone to sit down and points towards the small group and says they get the couch. She looks over at Hopper and goes “Shut it” because she already knew he was about to ask what the hell Steve was wearing and that was the exact wrong thing to do. He stammers a little in defensive before she shuts him up with a glare. She turns back and makes sure everyone is paying attention and says, “This house is a safe space for everybody. If Steve wants to wear a skirt, he can wear a skirt. You can have a chat with me if you don’t like it.”
Steve fidgets with the edge of her skirt before Robin takes it as she clears her throat and croaks out, “Stevie.”
He can see the confusion but Max jumps in and clarifies with, “She prefers Stevie.” She addressed it to Joyce but goes right back to glaring at Mike because she still hated the face he had pulled. He looks mildly terrified now and Max thinks that’s a better look.
Nancy and Jonathan just nod, Jonathan now knowing because he and Argyle had a gender talk when they realized they were non-binary. Though Stevie isn’t looking up from her hands Joyce gives a look that all the Hopper-Byers know means she’s proud. Hopper still looks like he’s not processing a thing. Dustin pipes up, “Did you and Max swap genders or something?” Eddie facepalms with an audible smack, Max roles his eyes, and Robin and Stevie both smile a little because Robin has jokingly made that comment before. And Stevie and Max just share a look and both explain that, no, their genderfluid, meaning they’re sometimes a guy and sometimes an girl and sometimes something in between. And they’re both a little shocked when Jonathan of all people explains that the something in between is called non-binary and something visibly clicks with Dustin because his eyes widen and they say “I thought I only felt like that” and Eddie kind of feels terrible because he wishes he could have helped Dustin sooner.
And when all of this is said and done and El asks if she can paint Stevie’s nails at some point and Hopper is still kind of confused but gives his full support and Eddie pulls Will into a conversation about being gay because Will looked so hopeful that he wasn’t alone and Mike explains that no he wasn’t disgusted, that’s just his natural confused face and Max finally eases up but still shoots him a glare or two for scaring Stevie, Joyce pulls Stevie aside and hugs her. “You are so strong sweetie, thank you for telling us.” Stevie doesn’t sob but there are suddenly tears because her mother never hugged her or told her she was proud, and she’d actually probably hate her if she found out about this, and Joyce goes to grab some tissues and her eye liner because she didn’t notice Stevie was wearing it before but now it’s running down her face.
El goes up to Max hugs him and asks if that means she’s the only girl left in the party of boys and Max laughs but explains that yes, but only for days he wears a blue or green bracelet. El smiles and says, “I still want to be your friend, no matter what gender you are.” Max nods and tried to act like that doesn’t mean a lot to him. Then El says they should give Mike a makeover for scaring Stevie and they both laugh and Max let’s their hair down and swaps their blue bracelet for their green one and they both go back to El’s room to grab some nail polish and scrunchies.
(In the end, Max and Steve are genderfluid, Jonathan and Dustin are non-binary, El and Robin are both bigender (she/they), and Eddie is trans (ftm). Everyone is super supportive and loves them all very much.)

Opening Wounds - Steve Harrington
It was hard to get close to Steve. Although he seemed like a happy, cool guy on the outside, he had a lot of problems. Him and Y/n have been friends since they were kids, although he's never even opened up to her, not really.
At their high school graduation however, when his parents didn't show, Steve revealed a side of himself she had never seen before.
He had problems with his parents, that was noticeable from the moment she meant him, but she never really knew the extent of them. She knew they traveled a lot, and she had a feeling (although never confirmed) that his dad had a lot of... anger. But she never, ever, thought that they'd miss an event as big as his graduation.
Steve shrugged it off at first. We arrived early, we were supposed to meet our families beforehand and direct them to their seats before the ceremony started. Mr. and Mrs. Harrington however, never showed. Steve was left alone watching the other students direct some sort of family, even Y/n.
When she came back to where he was standing in line, he smiled as usual. "Hey" Y/n said, placing her hand on her friend's shoulder. "Did your parents never show?" She asked, and Steve's smile only faltered for a minute before he responded "Nah, they're still out of town" he says, "But it's fine" He waves it off, and in doing this removes Y/n's hand from his shoulder.
She can tell he's upset though, his smile doesn't go quite to his eyes. It never does when he talks about them. "Steve..." She starts, but before she can speak again she hears their principal call in front. "Everyone to your places please! We're about to start" He yells, and Y/n looks between the principal and Steve a couple times before biting her lip "We'll talk after" She says, "Of course" Steve responds, and he lets her run off to her proper place in line.
The ceremony went smoothly, names were predictably butchered but at least no one tripped on stage. Afterwards, the students and parents were sent to the gym for an after party. When you entered, there was a photo booth for families to take a picture with the graduate.
Steve walked in, reluctantly, by Y/n's side with her parents. When they got to the photo booth however, he refused to come in. "C'mon Steve!" Y/n said, trying to pull him into the booth "You're practically family anyways!" But the boy removed her hand and took a step back, "It's fine, really" He said, and the same fake smile appeared on his face "I'll just wait out here" but when Y/n got out of the booth, he was gone.
She excused herself, letting her parents go off into the party as she ran out of the gym. She looked both ways down the hallway, and when she didn't see Steve, she just continued walking. She looked around at the people crowding the hallways, but she didn't see him anywhere. Finally, right when she was about to give up, she remembered a place he might be.
Steve tended to skip class, a lot. And although in his Junior and Senior year he stopped doing so as much, he still had the same place he'd go to when he needed a break from class. It was an old drama room, practically the size of a closet. No one went in there anymore since Hawkins got a new drama room years prior. And so one day, Steve broke the lock, and since then he's been going in there.
Y/n walked to this same room now, and when she saw the door slightly ajar, she knew he'd be there.
She cracked the door open more, slipping into the dark room. Steve had previously moved some supplies into the room as well, food, entertainment, and a light source. "One thing my parents are good for, money" She remembered him saying the first time he had shown her the room.
The boy was sitting in the corner, his legs curled into his body and his eyes staring at the ground in front of him. He wasn't crying, but she could see the sadness in his dead eyes. Y/n tiptoed over and slowly sat herself down next to the boy, alerting him of her presence by bumping her knee against his own.
"Hey..." She whispered, and he finally looked over at her and grunted in response. "You left" She continued, stating the obvious to the boy. "I... I just couldn't be in that room" He said, looking away from her again. "I'm sorry" She says, looking away too "I didn't even think of that" But Steve shakes his head at this, "It's not your fault, you don't have to take care of me" Although Y/n felt like she did have to take care of him, especially since he didn't have anyone else to do so.
She looked back over at him, and gulped before reaching her hand over to his own and intertwining their fingers. "Steve" She said, and when he didn't respond she continued "Steve you're my best friend, and I love you more than anyone else in this world" At this he finally looked up, although his eyes were still trained in front of him "I just... I want to know what's wrong"
He bit his lip before turning his head to the girl, and for the first time in her life, Y/n saw Steve with tears in his eyes. She had never seen him cry before, not when he fell, not when his parents yelled, not even when his pet dog died. "I don't want to scare you away" Steve said quietly, his voice hoarse from lack of speaking.
Y/n felt her heart sink at his words, and she scooted closer to the boy, placing her other hand in his and holding them tight. "You could never scare me away" she says with finality, but Steve still looks away, not meeting her eyes. "Steve" She says, her voice hard and determined as she moves so that she's sitting in front of him, "Do you understand? Nothing you say could ever scare me"
He finally looks up and meets her eyes, the tears already gone. "I love you, Y/n" He says, and she can tell by the way he says it, that he means it. "And I want to tell you everything. I always have, but I've been so scared" Y/n gulps, taking it in, but she nods and prompts him to continue.
Steve takes a moment before he speaks, starting from the beginning. "My dad, when I was younger, when he got mad... well he hit me" Y/n's eyes widened at his words, but Steve's own face stayed solid as he continued "Mom didn't like it, but she didn't stop it either" Steve nods at his own words, and Y/n repeats the motion herself, squeezing his hands in reassurance. "When they started going on vacations, it was like heaven. They'd be gone, and I'd be left alone with cash to buy whatever food I wanted. I could have friends over, and, as I got older, I could have parties." He smiles at the last part, but then his face solidifies again as he continues "But it was also really lonely... I started calling my mom, but she only answered sometimes. At first they'd come home every holiday, but then they didn't" he shrugged at this, "I got used to living alone. I just never thought they'd miss this..."
He looks down again, and Y/n sits in front of him in silence for a moment, taking in all that he just told her before responding. "Steve... I'm sorry, I just- I never knew it was this bad" He shrugged, "I never told you" Steve always said he was with his grandparents for the holidays, but now Y/n realizes he must've been at home alone.
"Stevie..." She whispered, and scooted into the boy, hugging him close. His arms wrapped around her as well, and when they pulled apart their faces were inches from each other. "Y/n..." he whispered, "Steve" she responded, their breath mixing at how close they were. "Thank you" He said, his mouth moving closer to her own "Of course..." She responded, but the last part of her sentence was blocked out by Steve's lips meeting her own.
She felt all his pain in the kiss, but all his passion as well. She kissed him back with just as much emotion, and they only pulled apart when they were both out of breath. "I have something to confess" Steve says with a laugh, and Y/n nods "I've been wanting to do that for ages" He whispers breathily, their mouths still closer than normal.
"Come to holidays with my family" She responds, her voice just as quiet as his own. And maybe it was the bliss of their first kiss, or maybe it was Steve's clarity after finally opening up, but he nodded. She smiled, and continued "I know you don't want to seem weak, but trust me, opening up is the strongest thing you've ever done"
They sit there for a little longer, Steve wrapping his arms around Y/n and her head resting against his warm chest. Until eventually they get up and head back to the party, not wanting Y/n's parents to question her absence for too long. Steve goes in with her, greeting her parents with his usual enthusiasm. And as she watched Steve walk around the gym, she knew he'd be okay.

the first time wayne meets steve is actually far before the events of '86. in fact, it's in winter of '85.
he's on his way back from work when he pops a tire. he's pissed off, it's cold, still dark, and the beginnings of fucking snow are falling around him, and he doesn't have a spare. the nearest payphone is probably three miles walk, and he's just readying himself to make the journey when, miraculously, a pair of headlights turn onto the back road.
the car slows to a stop behind wayne's, and he's struck by how fucking nice it is. a brown bmw 733i, one he thinks he's seen around a couple times. when the driver steps out, he realises that, yes, he has seen this car. because the boy behind the wheel is the harrington boy, and wayne curses every god out there.
he expects some snark. a good attitude and for the kid to make him grovel for help or outright deny any assistance. instead, he approaches with these wide bambi eyes, the absolute picture of concern.
"are you alright, sir?" he asks, perfectly polite. wayne huffs.
"popped a tire, ain't got a spare." he doesn't- doesn't know why he's telling him. really doesn't. but something about the kid makes him falter, makes his steely exterior give way ever so slightly. the boy crouches down to the tire in question, frowning as he inspects it. then nods, grinning. he says nothing to wayne as he heads back to his car, and for moment he thinks the kid's gonna leave him in the dirt. but, instead, he pops the trunk and hauls out a spare, rolls it over to the car.
wayne only watches, fascinated, as he jogs back to retrieve a little set of tools. sits his ass by his tire and starts going at it. he's in a thin, short sleeved tshirt and jeans. he must be fucking freezing- wayne is, and he's got a thick coat, gloves and a hat on.
"what're you doin', boy?" he asks, unable to sound anything but bewildered. the kid blinks at him.
"changing your tire, sir?"
"i ain't got anything to pay you back with." wayne warns, wary. the kid shrugs, continues his task.
"that's okay, i wasn't going to ask you to." he pulls the popped tire off and lays it by his side. "it's just a good thing we have the same size, huh?" he grins, a little shy. wayne has never felt so thrown off in his life.
was this really james and cynthia harrington's boy? would someone of those people's blood really sit in the cold to change a strangers tire? expecting nothing in return? "where's your layers, kid? it's cold as ass out here, you'll catch a chill."
"oh, i gave it to my friend." seriously? seriously? "i'm alright sir, not to worry." he says this despite his red cheeks and reddening knuckles.
he finishes fitting the tire a second or two later, and once he's inspected it, gives wayne an endearingly dorky thumbs up. it reminds him of eddie in all the best ways. "all done, sir!" he collects up all his tools and threads an arm through the hole of the tire, balancing it on his shoulder. "i'll take this for you, i have to drive by the junkyard anyways." he doesn't. wayne knows the harrington's live in loch nora, and that's the opposite goddamn direction.
"you really a harrington?" he asks, not missing the confusion and maybe even slight disappointment he's met with. "just- no offence, son, but i always thought they were nothin' but bad." he deflates even more, if possible. "how did they raise such a kind boy?"
it's such a sudden change, how quickly he's smiling, bright enough to light the damn road if he wanted. it's all bashful and excited, it makes wayne wonder if he's never heard a good word about himself in his life, which seems insane.
"i still got a bit of an asshole gene," he jokes, a little dry, "but i'm trying to be better, you know?" he motions to the tire. "if you can help, why shouldn't you?"
wayne wants to squeeze him, but refrains. thanks him a couple times over and forces the boy to take his hat before he goes, (despite his complaints). harrington bids him farewell and a safe drive home, and he's driving off before either realise they never learnt each other's names.
(wayne finds his out later, though, when eddie meets him at the door, worried that he's late. only after he's walked his nephew through the story three times and sworn up and down, yes, it was true, and yes, it was definitely harrington. steve harrington.
when they meet again after '86, in eddie's hospital room, that boy from all that time ago holding his nephew's hand, he does give him that hug. thanks him, for both this time and the last.
steve wears the hat in winter of '86. it makes wayne smile.)

steve and eddie meet at a religious camp when they’re younger—steve was sent by his parents, whereas eddie was sent by his parents.
they spend the summer skirting around each other, two boys coming to terms with their own sexuality in an unsafe environment.
on the last day of camp, eddie kisses steve lightly on the trail back to the cabins, heart racing in his chest.
steve doesn’t kiss back.
panicking, he runs back to his cabin, buried himself underneath his blankets, and cries himself to sleep.
what he doesn’t know, is steve wanted to kiss him.
so badly.
flash-forward to high school; eddie’s grown his hair out, rejected all forms of organized religion, moved in with wayne, and started selling drugs.
flash-forward to high school; eddie’s grown his hair out, rejected all forms of organized religion, moved in with wayne, and started selling drugs.
steve is the most popular guy in hawkins high, and is also dating nancy wheeler.
steve watches eddie from afar, remembers the time they spent at summer camp together.
they never speak to each other, only fleeting glances in the hallway, sweat prickling on the backs of their necks.
that is, until vecna happens.
and eddie pins him to the ball, a bottle to his throat, fire in his eyes.
and that’s when all the feelings steve’s been suppressing for all these years come rushing back.

I so want to write an AU where Robin was born as Robin Munson, Eddie's little sister. I think it would be Steddie and Buckingham. I really need to finish my other WIP, though. Does anyone want to take one for the team?

While Steve is on vacation in California with his parents he sees his boyfriend with an other guy. He’s heartbroken and decides to get drunk and meets Billy who works at the at the hotel he’s staying in. Billy offers to pretend to be his boyfriend to make his ex jealous.
I was thinking they would always meet at the abandoned old lighthouse Billy’s was saying in.

Time Loop fic where after Mike and Will return, time goes back to the year before on the same date.
Who's the victim of the time loop? That's for you to decide. Want a Ronance fic? Make it Robin. Steddie? Steve or Eddie. Byler? Will, maybe Mike. Hell, even El would be a really good one for that. Lumax, Lucas; he gets really overprotective over Max. Best of all though, in my opinion? A Jargyle where Argyle is the one in the time loop.
Think about it. At first he thinks it was a really hecking bad trip— for months he thinks that! And then there's some new kids and Argyle realises. That's was all real.
(Ideas for other ships under the cut)
Steddie- Classic; Steve starts trying to get to know and get along more with Eddie to try and get him not to die somehow, or even just see them as confidantes to go to after Chrissy's death. Definitely didn't mean to fall in love with him. Or, if you want Eddie to be the looper, have him start getting friendly and charmingly annoying in his special way, way earlier. Especially if Dustin didn't know, that'd be hilarious.
Ronance- Robin realising she likes Nancy after they stop being around each other and having to kind of casually figure out a way to become her friend. No romantic expectation. Damn is she surprised when she hears Nancy and Jonathan broke up. That didn't happen last time. What changed?
Byler- Let's do Will first. Obviously, he's not looking forward to moving. He doesn't want to lose Mike again. Especially now that he's realised he has a crush on him. This would mostly be angst. Maybe Will makes a little more of an effort to call though, knowing the potential outcome of not calling Mike when his mom is off the phone.
Mike. He tries to write and call more. He starts regretting it when he starts looking forward to Will's letters more than El's and gets disappointed when El calls him instead of Will. Maybe he shares this with Eddie and Eddie jokes about him being bi, much to Mike's confusion.
Lastly, my favourite. El. One, I like the idea that she gets her little powers back in the loop. She decides to keep it a secret, especially once they move to California where they're weaker and less consistent. They're more emotion based there. Other than that, she tries to make more of an effort to keep Mike and Will's friendship close. Maybe on a call, El realises Mike likes Will, or realises Will likes Mike. She breaks up with Mike, sort of out of mercy. Both of them would be ridden with guilt if they were dating when they figured out their own feelings. All in all, I want El to be a supportive sister and friend. Maybe throw some elmax or elumax in there, I don't make the rules.
