#also? that pony kid is tough as nails

So my Favorite Part in the book is one little scene near the very end, i don't remember exactly where, but Ponyboy pulls a broken pop bottle on some socs who try to fuck with him because the kid is just sick and tired of being fucked with ig. who can blame him, right?
anyway the socs peace the fuck out bc Pony meant Business and they could tell. Then Two-bit appears from stage left (he was right behind him with Steve ready to back Pony up) and is understandably kind of freaked out. Pony is changing and I imagine it's kinda scary that the baby of the gang is growing up BUT-
Pony starts picking up the glass and it's just? Two-bit is relieved and Pony doesn't get it but it's fine. The important parts of Pony are still there, even if he's getting a little rougher around the edges. He's staying Gold, but he's also getting wise to the world. Both Johnny and Dally kinda got what they wanted, even if it's still really unfair, and Ponyboy is gonna be okay.

# nishinoya yuu - nail polish
Tumblr media
a/n = not exactly happy with this one, but i feel like it suits noya a lot ^^ also i just installed the my little pony mobile game if u know which one i'm talking abt and it brought sm happiness to me istg T-T
summary = nishinoya is eager for you to paint his nails.
warnings = noya being overly clingy as per usual, also nishinoya being an ipad kid
Tumblr media
you could see nishinoya's bright smile the moment you opened the door to your house, his short figure standing on your doorstep with sheer excitement beaming from him.
it was pretty understandable. after all, you were his first girlfriend. he was excited every single time the two of you hung out. and you loved it about him. he was like the sun; bringing the positive energy into your life, the smile on his face brightening up your day every single time.
the boy trapped you in a tight hug, his hands wrapped around your waist as he squeezed you tightly, your hands over his arms. as he loosened the hug, his eyes caught a glimpse of something.
he looked down, focused on your hands, more precisely, your nails.
"ohhh, new nails?" his eyes sparkled, gently grabbing your hands to take a closer look. they weren't anything too special; you decided to try out the new technique you saw on the internet a few days ago, and even though they didn't come out perfectly, you were still satisfied with the results. and nishinoya seemed to be thrilled as well.
"i painted them yesterday." you smiled, taking in nishinoya's enthusiasm. "what do you think?"
he looked up at you, grinning from ear to ear, looking as if he was going to combust from happiness at any given second.
"they're so cool! i can't believe you did that yourself." his words echoed through the hallway, the boy jumping around. as his frame appeared in front of you again, he gently grabbed your face, peppering it with kisses as he spoke. "my girlfriend is so talented."
"you know, i could do your nails if you want to." you giggled at the boy, your cheeks turned a bright shade of pink.
even though you thought one could not be more excited than nishinoya was just a second before, he had managed to prove you wrong.
his eyes widened at your words, the almost exaggerated look of shock on his face making you laugh yet again.
"of course i want to!" his voice was suddenly an octave higher than before, sprinting towards your room as if he was speeding to the barbecue after a tiring volleyball practice.
you followed shortly after him, seeing his body already sat in front of your desk, waiting impatiently. you didn't bother cleaning after doing your nails the day before, so everything was already set up for you. only this time you weren't doing your own nails, you were doing nails of the boy who couldn't sit still for five minutes even if his life depended on it.
this is going to be tough.
"noya, you are aware that there is no chance you're going to sit through all of this." his head turned to you, curiosity painted on his face. "doing all of your nails would probably take over an hour."
"oh." his smile dropped, his eyes locked with yours, mind trying to find a solution for it. an idea quickly popped into his mind, his face lighting up yet again. "you can do only one on each hand, then. ooh, and can you do them in karasuno's official colors?!"
you agreed to his solution, seeing it as the best one in this situation. to your surprise, nishinoya wasn't even moving that much while you painted his nails. he was a little impatient with the uv lamp, of course, but that was inevitable. to calm him down a bit more, you got your ipad out, putting on a tv show so he can focus on something else. it was a bit funny; you had to act like somewhat of a nanny of his. but you secretly enjoyed how much you had to baby him sometimes.
as you turned off the uv lamp, after applying the top coat on nishinoya's nails, you looked at your work with a bright smile, brushing the hair falling on your face behind your ear.
"it's done." your words catch his attention immediately, his head turning from the ipad and towards his hands. you laughed at his reaction, his eyes sparkly and wide as he stared at the nails with his mouth agape. "noya, it's just nail polish.."
"AHHH I LOVE YOU!" the confession sounded more like a scream, his figure throwing himself onto you, almost pushing you off of the chair. "i love you, i love you, i love you. it's amazing."
the familiar feeling of butterflies in your stomach appeared at the sound of his words, a smile on your face as the boy hugged you tightly.
"you're overreacting a bit." you mumbled, trying to get out of noya's grip. he shook his head immediately, moving so that he could look at you now. he had the brightest grin painted on his face, the one you were so familiar with and loved so much.
"nuh uh. i just love you a lot."

And also, the reasons behind each pairing
1.Steve, Max, and Will-
C’mon, have you SEEN the SASS? I guess one could argue Dustin should also be here, but his sass™️ is reserved for his brothers. Also, imagine the gossip sessions, like Will ranting about anything and Max and Steve absolutely cheering him on because he is 100% in the right.
2.Eddie, Robin, and Will-
Queer in a small town, Barb could also probably be in this group. They all bash each-other’s crushes until Robin wants to date Nancy, and Eddie starts liking Steve. Will would absolutely still be trashed for his crush on Mike. Robin would still bash on Eddie like have you seen that man? He’ll watch the same movie on repeat until he has to being it back.
Eddie just sighs and is like, I know, he’s great.
3.Nancy, Chrissy,Barb, and Robin-
Barb and Chrissy absolutely needed more screentime!! They were both so aghhh<33 They all kinda band together to do sleepovers and stuff, sometimes El and Max are invited when they aren’t doing their own thing. I just really like the characters.
4.Steve and Gareth-
Okay guys, have you seen that Steve and Gareth cousin au??(Someone please tell me the creator so I can credit them) Steve having another extravagant handshake for Gareth and Gareth always gushing about his cool older cousin to hellfire who is just like uh-huh sure Gareth.
I know theres the idea that Gareth would despise Steve, but also Gareth inviting Steve to hellfire after he got dethroned because Steve was there for his tough times so why can’t he be there for his?
5.Holly, Erica, and Steve-
Lets take babysitter!Steve to the MAX. All the parent call him when their younger kids need to be watched, he watches Holly for the Wheelers all the time to the point where he’s her brother, and she pretends to forget Mike’s name for like a week.
Erica insists only Steve can watch her, because he’s the only one who lets her watch My Little Pony without judging her or treating her like a baby, also because he starts getting into the show. Sometimes Tina and the rest of Erica’s friends come over and rope him into letting them paint his nails. Random days Steve will show up to Erica’s school with some McDonalds for her.
6.Murray and Alexei-
Self-explanatory because c’mon, really?
7.Steve, Will, and El-
Steve ADORES the Byers siblings, they say thank you when he does stuff for them, they are usually never the source of trouble when they go out.
Sometimes Will will just be so nice that it makes Steve feel bad for what he told Jonathan in s1 before their fight, because nobody in the Byers family is a screw-up except Lonnie, who was just a giant douche and a terrible father.
The only thing Steve dislikes about them is their respective crushes on Mike, because are you serious? He’s well on his way to becoming the next town Keith.
8.El and Max-
Also pretty self explanatory, El needs a better role model than Mike, and Max being overwhelmingly confident in every decision helps. Max also tries to make sure El doesn’t push herself to hard. Oh your head hurts? Lets get you some juice, we have this new flavor you’d like. You don’t feel good? Lets take a break. You scrapped your knee? I have a first aid kit somewhere…
Etc etc, Max just always making sure El feels comfortable.

10, 17, 21 for the Horse Figure ask game :)
10. Have you ever fallen in love with a figure at first sight?
All of them make my horse-obsessed brain go PONY!
But a few of Breyer's halloween horses for sure! Because I love spooky equines.
Skullduggery
Tumblr media
Thriller
Tumblr media
17. What's your best purchase?
Best purchase is a tough one. Over the years I've thrifted a LOT of MLPs so basically all of those count. Probably one of the Classics Spirit and Rain sets from Goodwill that were almost flawless. They're not the most expensive or rare but I found 'em out in the wild so it makes them sorta special. I also found a Barbie horse, High-Stepper, with great hair whose electronics still work.
21. Give us your hot takes about horse collecting~
-Those "custom" stablemates that are just dipped in paint are lazy and ugly
-G5 MLP toys are also lazy and ugly. Walmart's knock-offs are cuter and I'm glad Breyer fills the void with their pony gals/lucky acres/mane beauty mlp-alikes.
- Breyer REALLY needs to stop securing their figures in the boxes with plastic-coated wire. They are almost impossible to clip with nippers, they ruin my nails and some are almost too tight to undo and I don't even have any hand problems either. I can't even imagine how hard it must be for folks with things like arthritis or how frustrating it must be for kids to fight with the packaging.

Secret Santa: Group 4 [Warriors of Hope]
What did everyone get from their presents?
Tumblr media
When I first moved in...well, moved BACK in, I was happy to find that my favorite warm futon was still here...
Tumblr media
Problem is...in my absence, some moths had gotten to it...I don’t think I even need to describe how the thing looked.
Tumblr media
Fortunately, no one here hates me enough to not want to get me a new one. It’s puffy and fluffy~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My gift was...something of a thank you card.
Tumblr media
There are a lot of names on it I recognize, mainly from the school that I work at. It’s a nice, well decorated painting with messages of thank you from the kids in my homeroom.
Tumblr media
I’m surprised I got it from Secret Santa though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I got a cool little thing! Someone got me a ticket for a farm attraction.
Tumblr media
Yeah, I know, that sounds super boring, but I REALLY wanted this, and you wanna know why?
Tumblr media
Because this farm in particular has horses! And I LOVE horses! Equestrian is one of my favorite sports, aside from Soccer!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some makeup and a cute new little tie for my hair~
Tumblr media
Pretty simple gifts I think, but I am but a humble girl. And it’s not as if I dislike it. It’s adorbs!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know, before a few years ago, I’d never ever got a present for Christmas or my birthday...Well, my birthday is only once every 4 years, so that made sense. But now I get presents every year. I’m pretty happy.
Tumblr media
I already got presents this year for Christmas, but for Secret Santa, I got some nail paint.
Tumblr media
Who do you think got your gift for you in the draw?
Tumblr media
My guess is Kotoko.
Tumblr media
Why? No reason, just a guess~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Monaca is the only one of this group, at least as far as I’m aware, that knows the kids in my class. She’s come to the school sometimes to talk to me and...as much as I hate to admit it, everyone in my form thinks she’s my girlfriend or wife...
Tumblr media
So she’s my initial guess. But since everyone knows about the kids I work with, it’s not hard to assume one of the other three could have collaborated with them.
Tumblr media
Jataro is also under suspicion, because I know he’s capable of making art like this, and helping the kids out with the art.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hm...You know, it’s hard to say. When you’ve got a group of friends who know your interests well, it’s pretty tough thinking of who it could be.
Tumblr media
But I think Kotoko would do something like this. She likes horses too! Well, ponies specifically, but it’s basically the same thing!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My initial guess is Monaca, because perfume and cuteness is something a fellow girl would understand...
Tumblr media
But at the same time...while Monaca WAS adorbs as a kid, she’s not so much anymore. She’s more mature, and it’s not like she uses perfume or makeup anyway.
Tumblr media
So, if it’s not Monaca, then it’s probably Nagisa. He’s pretty smart, and he knows my needs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This gift came from Kotoko. I just know it did.
Tumblr media
If I’m wrong...sorry...
Tumblr media
Alright, spill the tea. Who did you get a gift this Christmas?
Tumblr media
Ok, so the gift I gave out was...drumroll...
Tumblr media
Cutesy stuff for Kotoko!
Tumblr media
And yes, while I don’t WEAR makeup, I know most girls do! She’s treading on a thin layer of ice that covers the pool of “ungrateful” right about now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know he guessed wrong, but I gave Masaru his tickets to the farm.
Tumblr media
I don’t know if it was such a good idea, since what Masaru REALLY likes about Equestrian is Vaulting. Equestrian vaulting, or simply vaulting, is most often described as gymnastics and dance on horseback, which can be practiced both competitively or non-competitively.
Tumblr media
But as long as he doesn’t get a big head and start dancing around on the horseback, he’s free to ride it as much as he wants.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really don’t get Jataro. He wants nail art? I always thought nail art was for girls...
Tumblr media
But...you know, I really shouldn’t judge. He can be whoever he wants to be. Besides, he’s pretty good at styling nails, amongst a lot of other things.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Monaca and I drew each other it seems. Yeah, I noticed her old futon was tattered and I know how much she likes it.
Tumblr media
In exchange...she needs to share it with me every once in a while.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nagisa is a very hard worker, and I wanted to let him know that his efforts aren’t in vein.
Tumblr media
So I talked with the kids at his school and we made a big art project together for him. I really hope he likes it.

• they are not quiet either! The gang sees them go in Dar’s room and they all groan and leave ASAP
• the gang found out about them when the gang came over and heard Dallas call out ‘daddy!’ And never let him live it down ‘how’s it going daddy’s boy’ ‘I will literally kill you two bitch’
• Darrel never celebrates his birthday after his parents die and Dallas puts an end to that so fast. He goes all out, flowers, presents, sexy time. Anything he can do
• always sitting on Darrel’s lap, clinging to him, hugging. All of it. He’s just amazed and thankful he has such a strong and beautiful bf who loves him
• dar once let dallas do make up on him and Darrel borderline didn’t like how good he looked in it
• Dallas got him to experiment in drag and Darrel felt hella empowered. Now they dress up together sometimes. But dar says only Dallas is allowed to see him like that
• this makes dal feel extra special and close to dar and he loves it
Tim
• sarcastism never stops
• Tim is quiet but really protective, he can say whatever he wants about Dallas but once someone says one bad thing they best be ready to square up
• patching eachother up after fights al the time
• they be kinky bitches man!
• after a nightmare Dallas told Tim a little bit about his ex and it took dallas an hour to talk him out of going to New York to kill this man
• Dallas does strip teases for Tim in his stripper shoes on special occasions.
• Tim didn’t tease him for his make up or anything, he actually found it real pretty on him
• Tim never lets him stay at his own place or bucks after they get together.
• Tim is Demi sexual
• Dallas heard his ex was released out of prison and has a sever panic attack. Tim was right there reassuring him ‘babe I’m right here. No ones gonna hurt you’.
• dals mom comes to town and Tim got Angela and her friends to give her a ‘Tulsa greeting’. Needless to say she left as soon as she came
This was so long and horrible I’m sorry
Special thanks to @sunlitcigars for helping with some ideas and encouraging me to post these

Okay, so you know how Curtis sisters stories always have her a the baby or between soda and pony? Could I request something where instead she's the oldest with a personality that is a mix of ponyboy and darry?
they must hate you.
you don’t blame them. you would hate yourself, too.
you haven’t seen your brothers in over a year and a half, and the bus ride to tulsa shouldn’t be as dreadful as it is.
your hometown is filled with so many ghosts, your breath hitches when you drive past the familiar welcome sign into the city.
when your parents died, all eyes were on you.
you were the oldest, and they were all leaning on you.
you frustratedly wipe away a tear with the back of your hand when you remember the way pony had looked at you after the funeral, his sad baby face flushed and his body tucked into the smallest black tux you’d ever seen,
“what are we going to do, (name)?”
and you didn’t answer, because you knew you couldn’t stay.
it had been a tough place to be in. your scholarship to college was a done deal, and you were a few months into your freshman year when it happened.
what were you supposed to have done? throw away a full ride to university, already paid for, to come home? you’d never be able to afford college for darry, even if all four of you started working to pay the bills.
this was your last shot. if you could finish college, you could get a real good job, one that paid well. it was the only way to protect your future, to protect them.
but darry never forgave you.
the last time you’d been home, three months or so after the crash, you’d come home to see a house full of almost-strangers.
darryl was a changed person. he’d always been your little brother, even though you were only a few years apart in age, but now he was a man.
you couldn’t stomach the dinner they’d made for you, knowing that it had been paid for by darry’s two jobs, sodapop’s full time job after quitting school.
all while you got to have a future.
you love all your brothers, but you used to be closest with darry. you’d sworn to each other that you’d fight tooth and nail to get out of this town, to pull your family out of poverty. —and you left him behind.
darry wasn’t the only one who felt betrayed.
ponyboy would hardly talk to you. he’d always been shy, but now he was just— distant. he didn’t ask you about college, and only deadpanned when you’d try to ask him about school.
sodapop was the only one who almost understood.
but sodapop had always been the family diplomat, he was a sweet kid, and he was always on everyone’s side.
but they were still your family.
when you’ve walked a half an hour or so from the station to the front gate of the house, you pause for a second, just staring.
with a sigh, you make your way up the front porch, knocking on the screen door.
they must not be used to visitors, because it takes them a while to answer.
finally, the screen door swings open, with darry on the other side.
“(name),” he says, with a half-hearted smile, and beckons you inside.
he never seems to stop growing. he’s been taller than you for a while, but even his face looks older, like he’s aged twenty years in a few months.
“welcome home. — i’ll help you with that.” he hugs you with one arm, picking up your duffel with the other.
you could have sworn it weighed a hundred pounds, but darry lifts it with ease, carrying it to the spare room down the hall.
you look around the living room, which looks just how you left it last time you’d been here. it was funny how some things never changed.
“—well if it isn’t the family genius,” sodapop appears from the kitchen with a smile, coming over to hug you tightly.
darry’s back in time to hear him, looking away as if he hadn’t.
soda corrects himself, as if realizing his poor choice of words. “—the family co-genius, alright, dar?”
darry hardly nods before disappearing into the kitchen to serve dinner.
“where’s pony?” you ask no one in particular.
“he’s, uh, sleeping in our room. he’ll be up soon, i’m sure.” you can tell he doesn’t feel good saying it, because you both know pony’s avoiding you.
you’re sitting at the dinner table later, absentmindedly looking through some recent photographs of moments you missed. you’re staring particularly at one of ponyboy holding up a track and field medal, wondering why exactly you hadn’t even known he liked to run.
darry sets down what looks like mac and cheese and an entire chocolate cake at the center of the table.
“ponyboy, dinner,” he calls out from outside his door.
the three of you are sat at the table when ponyboy emerges from his room, but he doesn’t look like he’s been sleeping.
“hey (name),” he says flatly as he approaches the table, as if he’d never even noticed you’d ever left.
you bite your lip. “hi pony. come sit beside me.”
he does, and starts to eat in silence.
when you look up to serve yourself dinner, you notice for the first time that none of it particularly healthy.
you don’t want to overstep, and you almost didn’t, but when soda gets up and brings himself back a beer from the fridge, you gape.
soda does quite get it. “oh, shoot, (name), did you also want a beer?”
you shake your head wordlessly, before looking at darry, your glare possibly more accusing than you mean it to be.
“—you let him drink beer? he’s sixteen.”
darry’s expression instantly darkens, but before he can even open his mouth to defend himself, you keep going.
“—and this food, jesus, dar, you can’t be feeding teenage boys this much junk. i mean, god, how much sugar does this have?” you poke at the cake’s frosting for emphasis.
darry only chuckles bitterly before dropping his fork.
“you think you can just waltz in here and tell us how it is?”
you slam your first down onto the table, the contempt and guilt you felt boiling in your blood.
“i am still apart of this family, darryl, whether you like it or not. i am their older sister and i want what’s best for them.”
he stands, his chair scraping against the hardwood as he does.
“and i don’t? you haven’t been acting like you’re apart of this family for a long time, so don’t you dare—,”
ponyboy stands up suddenly, storming back towards his room. darry is too busy with you to care.
when the door shuts behind him, soda steps in to mediate.
“stop, both of you. we’re not gonna play this game of who’s made the most sacrifices.”
you and darry take the moment to breathe and cool down.
“darry, you don’t get to brush off (name) just ‘cause she’s been at school for some time,” he starts. “—and (name) you don’t get to call all the shots around here just ‘cause you’re the oldest.”
you and darry exchange apologetic glances, but sodapop still looks frustrated.
“—now, if there aren’t any adults left around here, i’ll go talk to pony.”
“soda, wait,” you cut in. “let me talk to him. it’s about time i did.”
he looks at you for a moment before he nods, and you walks across the room to pony’s room, stepping in and quietly shutting the door behind you.
he’s sitting on the far corner of his bed, leaning against his headboard and writing into a notebook.
you sit on the edge of the bed and look at him, your baby brother.
“ponyboy, i’m so sorry,” you run a hand through your hair. “i shouldn’t have left like i did.”
“it’s alright. i had to learn to take care of myself, we all did.”
“no, ponyboy. i’m supposed to be the big sister,” you say and try not to let him see you cry.
“i’m sorry i wasn’t better at it until now.”
you reach forward to grab his hand and he squeezes it. you’re about to get up when he speaks again.
“will you— stay awhile?”
you smile at him, and lean back further on the bed, listening as he reads to you an excerpt from a poem he’s writing.
the next morning, you sit on the porch outside, watching as the remaining drops of last night’s rain drop off the roof.
you hear the screen door open and shut, and darry sits beside you.
“i owe you an apology, (name).”
he must see the surprised look on your face because he elaborates.
“i know you did what was best for us, in the end. and i know soda said we shouldn’t talk about the things we’ve given up, but you did sacrifice a lot. you made the decision that you thought was best, even if it meant losing us. me and the boys, we’ve had each other to lean on this past year, but you— you did it all by yourself, and let us blame you. i’m sorry.”
you shake your head.
“i’m sorry too, dar, for leaving for so long, and not coming back as much as i should. i shouldn’t have overstepped yesterday, but i felt so guilty leaving, that i wanted to do something. i overreacted. i don’t give you enough credit, dar, but it’s about time we did what we promised we would do.
we’re going to work together, okay? me and you. we’re going to make this better. for all of us.”
he looks away, so as not to let you see that his eyes are getting glassy, and it’s almost unsettling to see your strongest brother break down.
when he turns back around, he pulls you into a tight hug.
“you’re going to college someday, dar.”
“i promise.”

Mouth Like A Sailor Part 1
Hey so I have no idea how to publish a fanfic on tumblr besides just putting it up like this so hopefully this goes well.  I was posting on qoutev but it kept crashing my computer so tumblr it is.
Marlena Curtis May 1965 5 months before    "I hope all of you will take this summer to exercise your minds... You wouldn't want to go into your senior year with a head full of nothing, would you?"  Mr. Mays shouted at the class, he wasn't angry, just obnoxiously loud.  I looked across the room at my brother's best friend, Steve, hoping to have someone to smile with or pass a note too, but he obviously was not interested and instead was tracing the hand of a short girl with bobbed hair.  She was giggling as he made ugly monster claws out of her manicured fingers, it was kind of sweet honestly.  I sighed and leaned back in my chair, looking around the room for anyone else that might be alright with me.  Mr. Mays voice quieted as he saw no one really cared about his speech on polishing the young mind, he resulted to letting us free for the rest of the period.  I rested my head on my arms and decided to spend the class just sleeping instead of awkwardly trying to make conversation with the dry, ginger soc next to me.  She seemed like she wasn't very interested anyways.    The bell rung two minutes in to my daydream, which couldn't have made me happier, I jumped out of my seat and yanked my bag with me out the door.  Finally I could just do jack-shit and paint my nails instead of listening to the same monotone creeps lecture for hours and hours.  I nearly ran down the hallway towards my friends, Sophie and Jean, they were talking fast and smiled big when they saw me running down to see them.    "MARLI, tell your brother you're gonna be at my house tonight baking cookies or some sweet shit, Gene Vincent is gonna be at Sophie's cousin's bar tonight in Oklahoma City!  Her cousin said we can all get in no sweat."  Jean said, she was so excited her heavy eyeliner was creasing from smiling so wide.
"Holy shit, Sophie did your cousin really say we can go?  How much money?" I asked with a small twinge in my stomach, the past few months have been pretty tough on my wallet, I really wanted all my money to go into my younger brother's secret college fund.
"None baby!  That's a perk of having friends with connections, just pitch in two bucks or so for gas, my daddy is letting me take the Malibu, ain't that exciting?" Sophie cooed, she had this soft voice that could have sounded polite even if she was telling you where it seemed your head was stuck.  She was   rich too, man her family did well.  But she was still my friend, because she didn't care if I lived in a hollowed out coat closet my brother set up for me, she didn't believe in the social class war going on.
"I'm in man!  I'll tell Darry I'm going to have a sleepover with ya'll, he won't ask questions, he's too wrapped around the axel with Soda right now."  I grinned at them and listened quietly to the rest of their chatter.  They could get awful excited about something real fast, it was damn cute.
We walked out to Jean's boyfriends car, he was a doll, always chauffeuring her and her friends around Tulsa.  Speaking of the devil, Tommy came sprinting down the concrete steps and bear-hugged tiny Jean, making her scream and laugh.
"Hello sweetheart, ready to be done with the bullshit for a whole 2 months?" he was another one of those guys that seems to really just shout instead of talk, he nodded to Sophie and I and smiled nicely, "ya'll hangin' or goin' home?"
"I can stay a little, we're supposed to be in the City by 9 and we gotta leave at 7 or so.." Sophie chirped
"Just straight home for me, thanks, I gotta make an appearance so Darry doesn't get suspicious"  I knew full well that he would expect the worst if I never showed up at home.    I jumped down from Tommy's pick- up and yelled to Jean I would be at her house at 630.  I smoothed out my black corduroy skirt and re-tucked the ratty pink shirt I had owned since 9th grade.  My sneakers crunched down the gravel covering the alley behind my house as I walked towards the backward, where I heard my brother and their friends.  Not even the whole gang was there, but it was still loud as hell.
"Hey Marls how was the last day of school?  I  miss anything important?" laughed Two-bit, the rusty haired boy lay lazily on our back steps.
"Ha, it was fine, you didn't miss anything important.  Just that Mark guy offered me a whole year supply of marijuana if I would flash the principal at the assembly this morning"  I told him as I took a carton out of my bra and lit a smoke, I giggled a little when I saw him cock an eyebrow.  The nimrod probably thought I went through with it.
"So ya did it right?"  Demanded a bored looking Dallas Winston.  He sat next to my twin Soda, who was laughing quietly to himself, he probably knew I was too much of a wimp to leave school one some crazy note like that.
"Nah," I took a long drag, "I could get that shit for free by just winking at some of the squares in this town... But anyways, where did Darry go?  He working late or something?"
"No, he should be home in ten minutes or so, you gonna bail soon?" Soda asked
"Around 6ish I'm going over to Jean's, Sophie and I are gonna spend the night with her."  I told him without much worry, I was used to making up white lies at this point, Soda would likely not even care that I was going into the big city tonight, maybe he'd even think it was tuff I was sneaking off to a high class bar with my socy friends.
"Ain't Jean that middle-class broad with the giant jugs?" Dally half-joked, it was almost a long running gag that we had, since he couldn't make a move on me, being three of the gangs' sister, he has always tried his best to get at my friends.    I just rolled my eyes and took another drag of my cigarette, lettings the boys' conversation go this way and that and just listen.  That's kinda been my go-to lately, when my mom and dad died three months ago I lost a lot of my talkative edge.  Shit it's been three months already... I pushed my body lightly off of the side of the house and dragged myself inside.  My room really was just a scraped out coat closet.  I ain't gonna complain too bad about it though, Darry really did make it alright and it wasn't even too small of a closet to begin with.  Hell, if we were able to fit my little mattress and even my record player I bought when I was 11, it can't have been that bad.  My stomach was beginning to feel a little green, I had been smoking like a chimney since I got home, and my room ain't too breezy so that tobacco stench really liked to hang around.
"Marlena?" I heard my oldest brother knocking at my door, he opened it and immediately looked a little peeved, "Oh lordy!  Did ya just set a whole carton of marbolos on fire?  It's a goddamn wildfire in here, you keep smoking like this and I'm gonna have to start checking what you buy at the store now, ya dig?"
"Yeah, I know.  Hey Darry?"  I said, without the slightest intention of cutting down on my habit, "I'm gonna go to Jean's tonight, Sophie will be there too, that cool?"    "That's fine" he said walking back to the kitchen.  I followed him out and just followed suit, he got a glass of water, I got one too.  We didn't even talk the whole time,  he's kinda been quiet lately too.  When our parents died in that accident everyone took on a different kind of burden, but sometimes I think Darry feels like he took the whole load, and maybe that's why he's so damn stressed. Coming home from the funeral with my brothers felt like I had just taken a few strangers from the graveyard and said "you'll do."  Darry used to be that real fun, hilarious older brother.  We used to go out all the time and just talk about everything.  We would talk about how mom was a little too harsh sometimes on people and that it was pretty funny that dad would just push her buttons when she would get annoyed by the little things.  My youngest brother, Ponyboy, well he just downright terrifies me the way their deaths changed him.  He didn't use to be so dreamy all the time, he always had a big imagination, but this time it's different, he tried to follow mom and dad's souls up to heaven and got stuck somewhere between space and the East Side.  Sodapop though, he seemed to take it the healthiest, he wasn't shy about bawling and howling like an idiot at the funeral.  He had to express how he felt, so he did.  But one thing that did change was the side of him people usually forgot about started to rear its ugly head just a little more every once in a while.  Soda is charming and nice, but he's also reckless and clumsy and he won't look before he just starts running.  I'm not trying to  but my brothers in  a bad light though, I certainly haven't been perfect since the accident either.
Jean's dad was in the army, and her mom was a nurse, so they got along pretty okay.  She wasn't by any means rich, but she surely never had a shortage of cash by the end of the month.  Her house was just a quick bus ride from my neighborhood, it was two stories, well kept, and all the bathrooms were pink.  I knocked on the door and not even a second later it was the bermuda triangle of "can you answer that?" between her and her parents.  It was her mom who came to the door, she was a real neat lady.  Joan's mom was actually real tough, she had a hard life as a kid and she don't have the easiest job in the world.
"Hello Marls!  Don't you look like a doll tonight?"  She smiled up at me, I am pretty tall for a girl and I usually tower over most ladies I meet.
"Thank-you Mrs. Massey, it's just my school clothes, but I figured it would be alright for tonight, ha," I tried my best to sound like a nice girl, but she was just so damn down to earth I really don't think she'd judge me too harsh.  She let me in and walked me all the way to Jean's room, asking about my brothers and if Pony was proud of himself that he came in 2nd at his last track meet.  It was nice talking to a mom.
Jean popped up from the floor when I walked in, "You ready to leave soon?  I just gotta find my lipstick and Sophie will be here soon, we're gonna get burgers at Dairy Queen on the way out of  town, my mom gave me food money if any of us need."  she spoke briskly and with a butt-load of excitement.
"Yeah I'm all set" I giggled quietly as she threw tubes of makeup to the floor trying to find her token lipstick. She got it and we tumbled down the stairs just as Sophie was pulling up to the house.

Chapter 7 - Realization
The next day, Two-Bit and Rae decided school was probably a good idea. Thankfully, it turned out to be a normal day. Ponyboy had noticed that she’d left her books at his house and brought them in for her.
She’d had a hard time concentrating on her schoolwork, but that wasn't too unusual. Being Dally’s little sister, he always got on her if she didn’t do her schoolwork, but since he didn’t put much stock in his own education, it rubbed off on her. At least she was smart enough to get by without much effort. Instead, she spent most of the day shooting spitballs at the backs of people's’ heads.
Lunch was usual- sneaking out in Two-Bit's car with Johnny and Pony, and driving over to the DX where Soda and Steve worked. They had a couple of Cokes, and then went back to school for their afternoon classes. After school, Two-Bit drove home and Rae walked with Pony and Johnny. They left Johnny at his own house (his parents, thankfully, were not home), then continued on to the Curtis’s.
"How was your day, Pony?" Rae asked after the silence between them stretched for a while. He shrugged.
"Okay, I guess. Yours?" he replied.
"Boring." The rest of the way back to the house was quiet again. The walk felt like it would take forever. When they finally got there, they found Dally stretched out on the couch, watching TV, a lit cigarette between his fingers. He looked up when they got through the door. Rae instantly brightened at the sight of him.
"Dally!," she exclaimed, almost dropping her books on the coffee table.
"Hey," he greeted both of them and put out his cigarette. He took his feet off the couch and sat up. He gave Ponyboy a pointed look that made the poor kid scurry to another room.
"I heard somethin’ from Tim this mornin'," Dally said, when they were alone. He offered her the seat next to him. “Sit.”
"What?" she asked, her smile disappearing at his tone. Her insides tightened and she hesitated. Something told her she was about to get an earful.
"Come on, sit down. I won't beat ya up or anythin'," he said, sensing her unease. She obeyed her older brother and dropped into the cushion next to him. "Anyway, Tim told me that ya’ll were skippin' school, yesterday."
"I wasn't feelin' to great. Two-Bit took the day off to stay with me." He nodded in understanding.
"He also told me that you'd been cryin'. I know you- I raised you- and you don’t cry for no reason." He paused for a moment. "You did, didn’t you?" Rae opened her mouth to argue but he cut her off, pointing an authoritative finger in her face. “Ya know you can’t lie to me.” She closed her mouth and sighed through her nose, silently cursing Tim.
“I needed my school things.” Dally curled his fists into tight balls and sucked an angry breath.
“Christ, Rae, you should’ve told me and I would’ve gotten them for you,” he said, voice rising, the time-bomb starting to tick away. The familial rage they shared quickly flared up in her chest, too.
“How the hell could I? You’ve been gone, Dally!” she snapped louder than him, her face heating up. She clenched her fists in the couch on either side of her and lowered her voice. His whole body tensed up, unused to being reprimanded, especially by someone younger than him. She didn’t mean to get so mad- she really didn’t- especially not at her brother. She wasn’t mad at him- she didn’t blame but... If he’d just stop for a second and listen to her... “You left me,” she said as evenly as she could, blue glare turning sad. “You didn’t...didn’t even see if I was alright.”
Dally stared back at her in silence, his jaw working behind a closed mouth. Finally, he dropped her gaze and looked off to the side, his eyes downcast. The ticking froze. Her anger subsided seeing him so genuinely shaken.
“Sorry,” he said, quietly. He sighed. “I’m sorry, Rae. I didn’t think-I didn’t know how…” Before he could finish and before she could help it, Rae huffed a laugh and Dally’s head shot back in her direction. “What?”
“You sure look stupid when you’re upset.” He smacked her lightly on the side of the head, but laughed as well and pressed his forehead against hers. She felt the tension leave his body.
“I promise I’ll be around more, alright?” She nodded with a smile and closed her eyes. “We’ll get through this. I’ll make sure of it.”
Before they could say anything else, someone burst through the door. The siblings separated lightning fast. Rae instantly recognized the form of her best friend.
"Curly!" she exclaimed and shot up from the couch.
“Am I interruptin’?” he asked with his stupid, crooked, sarcastic smile. She looked back down at Dally, whose expression went from soft to annoyed, the look he saved particularly for Curly Shepard. He stood up and got into Curly’s face.
“If you weren’t Tim’s kid brother, I’d beat the shit out of you,” he cursed.
“Oh, I’d bet he’d let you, too,” Curly retorted, staring up at her older brother, that arrogant smile glued to his face. Rae rolled her eyes as an awkward silence stretched between them. Finally, Curly took a step back and cleared his throat.
“Walk?” he asked, looking towards Rae. She looked to Dally, who frowned but motioned towards the door with his head.
“Go on. I’ll see ya’ll later.” He reluctantly moved out of the way and let them out the front door. Before Curly could make it through the frame, though, Dally spun him back around and shoved a finger into his chest, giving him the evil eye.
“Don’t worry, man,” Curly assured her brother, flashing a serpentine smile that Rae was sure made Dally’s blood boil. Man, something was really riling him up. Curly forced him arm out of Dally’s grap and straightened his jacket. “Now, if you don’t mind, I’ll be goin’.”
“What the hell was that about?” she asked when her friend finally joined her at the bottom of the steps.
"Don’t worry about it. Been lookin' for ya, though," Curly said as they started on their way. “Weren’t at the usual hangouts, so I figured I’d try here.”
"I guess you’ve heard, then" she said, flipping the collar of her jacket up against the cool breeze blowing in her face.
"Yeah, I heard. Tim told me," he answered. She nodded. “He didn’t wanna, but-”
"It’s fine,” she said, quickly. “You should know. I should’ve told you but-”
"It’s okay. I'm just real worried 'bout ya," Curly said, throwing his arm around her shoulders. She stumbled in surprise.
"I-Thanks for worrying," she said, trying to right herself. She smiled and wrapped her arm around his waist.
They stopped at the Tastee Freeze for a malt and some fries before going back to the Curtis's. While they sat in their booth, he started talking about the fight he’d been in. Rae took a good look at his face as he talked. Curly had a nice shiner on his right eye.
"I'm glad you're okay. Those Brumly boys can get dirty," she said when he’d finished his story. "What’d ya do this time?"
"I dunno," he said with a shrug. "They mighta grabbed the wrong brother. Tim and I do look a lot alike, huh?" He smiled conspiratorially. "But I do know Tim took one of their broads on a date." His smile was infectious.
"That’d prob’ly do it," she confirmed. He nodded and they both went quiet, finishing off the fries they shared between them. Eventually, she looked up at him and they locked eyes. She couldn’t help but notice the pretty brown of his eyes.
“Rae, I-,” he started, looking particularly nervous and totally un-Shepard-like. “I just want you to know that, well, I can protect you too. I want to-to protect you.”
“What’s this all-?” Curly slid their cokes out of the way and leaned across the table. She noticed an expression on his face she'd never seen in all their years of being friends. Her stomach tied in excited knots as his face got closer to hers. Was this why Dally was always threatening him? Was this-?
“Can I?” he asked, his voice steady but unsure. She blinked, completely take aback. Sure, she’d thought about it before but he’d never... Her cheeks started heating up but at the thought, and slowly, she nodded. Rae closed her eyes and leaned in the rest of the way. Their lips met for a few short seconds before Curly fell back into his seat.
"Sorry," he said, quickly, and shifted his position, uncomfortably. He looked out the window next to him.
"How long?" she demanded.
“Huh?”
“Come on, Curly. You ain’t that dumb. How long?”
“A-a while, okay? I just didn’t know if-” He angled his head back towards her but she gave him a sheepish grin. He blew out a long breath, and huffed a short laugh. She rolled her eyes.
"Maybe you are stupid. Come on," she concluded and threw her jacket back on.
“A little,” Curly affirmed as he got out of his booth and held out his hand to her. She took it and slid out of her seat. He returned his arm to her shoulders and they started walking back to the Curtis house together. When they got there, Ponyboy was sitting on the front porch, smoking a cigarette and talking to Soda. The older brother waved at the pair when he saw them coming.
"Hey, Rae. Nice to see ya, Curly," Sodapop said. Curly nodded. Two-Bit walked out the door and saw the two together.
"Oh ho!" Two-But chortled. Rae’s face went red again and she separated herself from Curly. Soda laughed as well.
"Well, I'd better go. Tim'll beat my head in if I’m gone much longer," Curly said as he turned to walk off. "I'll come see ya soon." After a wave, he was gone, hands shoved in the pockets of his jacket, greasy hair shining in the receding light.
"See ya," she said to his back. She watched him until he turned the corner, a smile spread wide on her lips. She turned back to her friends giving her a look and her smile disappeared into a glare. “What?”
“Dally’s gonna be mad,” Two-Bit answered, and taunted her with a dumb grin on his face.
“How’d you know?”
“You ain’t never looked at him like that before. And your face just got red as hell.”
“How long have ya’ll known?” she asked, looking at each of her friends in turn. Soda held up his arms in mock surrender when her eyes landed on him.
“A while,” he confessed.
“Well, I-,” Ponyboy started. His ears started going red. She raised an eyebrow.
“It’s pretty obvious if Pony picked up on it,” Two-Bit blurted out, laughter overtaking him.
“You callin’ me stupid?”
“Nah, kid. Just a little clueless.” He clapped poor Pony on the back hard enough to make him cough. “Easy, kid. Damn.” Rae rolled her eyes and shoved him into the pillar next to him, then stomped up the front porch and disappeared inside.

(  maggie  q.  thirty - nine.  cisfemale.  bojack  horseman.  )  ——  i  think  i  just  saw  DIANE  NGUYEN  walking  around  in  the  employee  lounge.  SHE  is  a  professor  and  teaching  in  LITERATURE.  their  coworkers  have  described  them  as  being  IDEALISTIC  &  OVER-CRITICAL ,  and  they  even  remind  me  of  COFFEE  STAINS ,  NAIL  BITING  &  UNREALISTIC  EXPECTATIONS.
hello helLO !! i’m super excited to be here playing what is probably my favorite fictional character ever , diane nguyen !! if you’ve never seen bojack horseman , below is a brief summary of the events that led up to her teaching at toonsville. i’ll be posting some wanted connections later today , but in the meantime , feel free to message me or hit me up on discord @dumb libra#4945 !!
“ are you PROUD of who you have become ?? “
name: NGUYEN, diane. aka: deedee , blarn , cryanne , glasses , asian daria. age: 39. date of brith: march 19th, 1980. hometown: boston , massachussets. marital status: divorced.
current location: toonsville. occupation: professor of literature at toonsville university.
“ i’m sorry i’m not the person i THOUGHT i was. “
DIANE was born in BOSTON , massachussets. she’s the only daughter of PA and MA nguyen ( first names are never revealed ) , vietnamese immigrants , and the younger sister of TOMMY , MARTY , ARTIE , and GARY ( the literal black sheep of the family ).
childhood was TOUGH. her parents and brothers bullied and tormented her. her father was a MEAN , sadistic alcoholic who never supported ANYTHING she did and actively delighted in watching her fail. her mother is an OBNOXIOUS and condescending woman who CODDLES her sons , but frequently nags and guilt-trips diane , never forgiving her for leaving the family to make something of herself.
in SCHOOL, she never had any friends. she was mocked and bullied for being a NERD ; never invited to any parties. she had ONE friend , abby , until she became one of the cool kids , and diane was left all ALONE.
diane attended BOSTON university ; majored in literature and EQUINE studies. a few years later , she packed up and moved to LOS ANGELES , california , with dreams of writing IMPORTANT things and making a positive impact on the world. instead , she got a job at STARBUCKS.
in 2007 , she met tv star MR. PEANUTBUTTER. shortly after , they started dating. SEVEN years later, they got married on JUNE 13, 2014.
in 2009 , she met BOJACK HORSEMAN at a halloween party , but he didn’t even acknowledge her. a few years later , she was hired to ghostwrite his memoir , meant to serve as his comeback. that was the start of a profound , yet complicated friendship. the book, titled ONE TRICK PONY was published a few years later as a biography , instead of a memoir.
after the publication of her book, diane worked for a few months as a character consultant on the SECRETARIAT movie. a few months later she embarked in a six-month trip to war-torn CORDOVIA with celebrity philanthropist SEBASTIAN ST. CLAIR. mr. peanutbutter didn’t want her to go , but diane instisted , believing that helping people and making a DIFFERENCE would finally make her happy. shortly after arriving , she was disappointed by the discovery that her reason for being there was NOT to help people , but to write a book about how GREAT sebastian was so people would donate to his organization. diane returned to LA , but was too ashamed to tell her husband , so she hid at bojack’s house for three months.
her marriage with mr. peanutbutter was STRAINED , but they tried to make it work. she began working as a ghostwriter for celebrity TWEETS at a talent agency. after that agency closed down , she became a writer for feminist website GIRLCROOSH. her articles about real-world issues ere typically overlooked in favor of celebrity gossip.
when mr. peanutbutter ran for governor, diane tries to be SUPPORTIVE , but instead sabotaged his campaign by writing an article against his pro-fracking views. their relationship was strained for the next few months , until diane realized that she was tired of trying to make the relationship WORK , and the two god a DIVORCE.
she then moved into a crappy apartment and worked for a while as a writer for the show PHILBERT. a gritty detective drama that attempted to deconstruct toxic masculinity , but as diane later realized , only succeeded in NORMALIZING it. ashamed that she contributed to this, she decided to pack up and move to TOONSVILLE.
ADVICE YOU’VE GIVEN OTHER PEOPLE THAT WAS REALLY ABOUT YOU :
zodiac sign: pisces. personality type: intp — the logician / the thinker. enneagram: 4 — the individualist. temperament: melancholic. hogwarts house: ravenclaw. moral alignment: lawful neutral. primary vice: pride. primary virtue: dilligence. element: water.
+ idealistic , intelligent , bold , determined , dedicated , moralistic , generous , forgiving.
- over-critical , pessimistic , stubborn , hypocritical , temperamental , spiteful , judgmental.
the first thing anyone can see about diane is that she’s somewhat reserved and introverted. he’s quiet  and keeps to herself. she’s very dedicated and focused. she’s socially anxious , hates parties and any situation in which she’s the center of attention ( grand gestures , public displays of affection , etc. )
she’s a third-wave feminist , and is constantly questioning the world around her , always looking at everything with a feminist perspective ( which probably makes people dislike her a bit , as she has a habit of being a bit of a killjoy ). despite her social anxiety , she’s quick to stand up for what she believes in when she feels something is unjust.
she’s very stubborn , and is always convinced that her way of doing things is the correct way ( even when she’s not even directly involved with the issue at hand ) , so she tends to be very judgmental , but it all comes from a deep desire to help people and make a difference in people’s lives ( help them her way , of course ).
she can be spiteful at times , but she always finds ways to justify her actions ( the end justifies the means and all that ). for example , leaking a few chapters of a book against her friend’s wishes because she believes that in the long run , it will make everyone love him again , even if he can’t see it.
she holds everyone , including herself , to an impossibly high standard , which makes her incredibly critical of everything and everyone , which then leads to disappointment and unhappiness , damages her relationships and self-worth. it also makes her quite hypocritical , and she’s quick to point out the flaws in others , but can’t recognize those same flaws in herself. when she does , she does her best to conceal them instead of working on them to improve.
i know this is a lot , but as you can probably tell , i love diane very very much.
here is her pinterest board !! here is her playlist !!

Okaayyyy, so! Apparently tumblr was being a shitforbrains again and didn't post my answers from a few days ago, so I'm gonna combine both get-to-know-me q&a's in one post! Sorry for the wait you guys.
1st set of q's was tagged by @legendarybitch 😘
Relationship status: Single AF
Favourite colours: Blue and green, hands down. I'm partial to he more vibrant blues and more earthy greens; especially hunter green with gold accenting. But it has to be a nice gold, not that yucky orangey-yellow some folks use
Lipstick or chapstick: Chapstiiiick! Anything else I get annoyed and scrape it off with my teeth
3 favourite foods: Oh god, I have to choose? I guess... Any pizza really though I have a weakness for deepdish (especially double cheese smothered in sriracha 😍), suicide hot wings (I want to choke on the fumes and feel like my face is melting), aannnnd a nice tender rare steak. You can't see it but I'm drooling now thx guys
Song stuck in my head: The Next Episode by Dr. Dre feat. Snoop Dogg
Last song I listened to: Zombies by The Cranberries (the cover done by Bad Wolves is fucking bomb too)
Last movie I watched: Galaxy Quest (1999) Worth every goddamn penny
Top 3 tv shows: Tough call, but I think the closest would have to be Hannibal, Final Space, and Voltron: Legendary Defender
Books I'm currently reading: The Rowan by Anne McCaffrey and Burial Rites by Hannah Kent
Last thing I googled: Biomedical Technology
Time: 11:04pm
How many blankets do you sleep in: Primarily just my one big galaxy comforter
Dream trip: Phew, that one's a pretty tall order! About 9/10ths of my clan/extended familar are still in europe (mostly Germany and the Netherlands), so I'd like to be able to visit everyone! I haven't met most of them because of distance but we're all still very tightly knit accross continents. So a dream trip would somehow entail being able to get to visit everyone and possibly even go with my Oma before she can't fly anymore (she hasn't seen her sisters in many years). If somehow this all timed itself right so that I could also attend the Trakehner Verband approvals at Neumünster, I would legitimately weep with joy. My opa and I had always planned to go together as he hadn't been since immigrating to Canada, but now that he's passed I want to go for the both of us. It's a family legacy thing, I suppose. My second choice would be to visit either Spain or Portugal for a riding vacation 😍
Anything you really want: To have a prosperous and fulfilling life brimming with true friendship, laughter, and love.
2nd set of q's tagged by @vecchiasignoras 😙
Name: Kate, though I consider it to be quite intimate so only my immediate family calls me by this name. Everyone else refers to me as Kat
Height: 5'9"
Middle name(s): I have two! Their initials are E.M.
Put your music on shuffle. What are the first four songs that come on?
September by Earth, Wind & Fire
In the Middle by Jimmy Eat World
Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
Something Like This by The Chainsmokers
Bonus: Become the Beast by Karliene
Grab the book nearest you and turn to page 23. What is on line 17? (I counted them as the beginning/end of dialogue and whole sentences)
"She'll... she'll die! You know as well as I do," and Siglen's words crowded each other out of her mouth, "what happens to the truly Talented in space... I mean, look at how ill David became. Remember how devastated Capella was. To subject an infant... of unknown potential... to such mind-destroying trauma! Why you must be mad, Interior. You cannot! I will not permit it!"
Ever had a song or poem written about you? Not to my knowledge! Though the only thing they might draw inspiration from is how big my feet are lmao
When was the last time you played air guitar? Mmm, a few weeks I think? That Mötley Crüe riff was impossible to resist. As for a real guitar, I think it's going on almost 4 or 5 years now? Jesus time flies.
Who is your celebrity crush? They would have to be Tom Holland and Chris Hemsworth. I definitely have a thing for their personality type 😘
What's a sound you hate + a sound you love?
A sound I hate would 12/10 have to be my mother's voice, even just saying my name. It always sounds accusatory and condescending in the kind of way that's like nails on a chalkboard but under your skin. Also the sound of unexpected people WALKING UP ONTO MY PORCH AND KNOCKING ON THE DOOR INVADING MY SANCTUARY. (I loathe unannounced visitors. Hate hate hate them).
A sound that I love would hands down have to be the ambient noises my horse makes when he's just doing... whatever. When he's doing him-stuff. Slurping up electrolyte water like a messy kid, heaving these great big sighs because life amiright? I especially find his annoyed growling to be hilarious, because he is VERY loud and dramatic about it, but only does it when you ask him to do something relatively low effort that he finds tedious. Like flat work, or walking to and from the barn and paddock. Completely droll and lackluster. But going for a friendly gallop in the back field? You'd think we'd just gotten rallied by fucking Théoden to ride to our deaths at the Pelennor Fields. He makes this hard little growly-grunt when he shifts up into the next gear and then boom, you're gone. Just fucking gone. Then he's a happy springy boi. It isn't like his annoyed growling though; it's different. When he's annoyed it's more like verbal complaining; all in the throat. But when he revs it it's much shorter and takes on a hard edge. Comes up deep from the core. I can't really explain it any better than that. I just fucking love sprinting a 1700lbs war machine in general, now that I've re-learned how the hell to ride it 😂 I'm babbling now
Do you believe in ghosts? I believe in spirits and other things, yes.
How about aliens? We've only discovered and understand, what, 0.4% of the known universe? To not be widely open to and fully accepting of the notion that we are not alone would be pure folly. Even from a mathematical standpoint it would be wildly ridiculous not to. That doesn't mean I have any specific theories or "truths" about it, though. It would just be very stupid of me to be closed-minded.
Besides, if it does turn out to be true it would explain a lot of things. I think my favourite wild theory out there is that Mary, mother of Jesus, was artificially inseminated. Like we do with livestock. If nothing else it's fascinating to ponder the implications.
Do you drive? Yes. Pretty gutsy too, if I say so myself. My mum used to drag race so I guess it's both a hereditary as well as a learned thing.
If so, have you ever crashed? Only once, and that was an actual accident. The conditions were super icy so we were already going 20km below the limit, and I was hanging back, but what happened was the car infront of me hit the car infront of them, and when I slammed on the brakes I just slid about 15-20 feet right into their rear end anyways. Nobody got hurt except for my car; she took the worst of it. The car I hit basically just had to pop the dent back out and it was like I hadn't made contact. Lucky badstards. There were a ton of similar accidents that day so everything got wrapped up pretty quick.
What was the last book you read?
It's been so long since I've completed one, mostly because everything these days sucks ass, so I don't remember what it was. The ones I'm currently reading however are The Rowan by Anne McCaffrey and Burial Rites by Hannah Kent
Do you like the smell of gasoline? Clean, quality gasoline? Yes. Dirty low quality gasoline? No.
What was the last movie you saw?
Galaxy Quest (1999)
Do you have any obsessions right now? Not really, no. I mean, technically all things Bioware and my pony, but those are more of a glowering embers kind of love. Not the raging wildfire kind that overtakes the mind and turns you into a fanatic
Do you tend to hold grudges against people who have done you wrong?
Eeeehhhhhh, yes and no. Like I won't actively hate you cause why tf would I waste the energy, so it's whatever, but I will also always keep you at arm's length so idk
Are you in a relationship? No, nor do I want to be. I'm enjoying just being on my own and allowing myself to grow as a person. I don't do relationships just for the sake of being in one, or because of this ridiculous notion people seem to have that you aren't complete/a whole person without a significant other. I'm only interested in end-game, and I'm not ready to be open for that right now ✌
Bonus: What's an annoying/bad habit that you have? Talking the shit out of everything. And I swear. A lot. More in my head than out loud, though.

Anniversary of Danny’s death
Bruce’s tribute, long but wonderful! There are some great early e street adventures! Remembering Daniel Paul “Danny” Federici (January 23, 1950 Flemington, NJ – April 17 2008, New York City, NY)
FAREWELL TO DANNY “Let me start with the stories. Back in the days of miracles, the frontier days when "Mad Dog” Lopez and his temper struck fear into the band, small club owners, innocent civilians and all women, children and small animals. Back in the days when you could still sign your life away on the hood of a parked car in New York City. Back shortly after a young red-headed accordionist struck gold on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour and he and his mama were sent to Switzerland to show them how it’s really done. Back before beach bums were featured on the cover of Time magazine.
I’m talking about back when the E Street Band was a communist organization! My pal, quiet, shy Dan Federici, was a one-man creator of some of the hairiest circumstances of our 40 year career… And that wasn’t easy to do. He had “Mad Dog” Lopez to compete with… Danny just outlasted him. Maybe it was the “police riot” in Middletown, New Jersey. A show we were doing to raise bail money for “Mad Dog” Lopez who was in jail in Richmond, Virginia, for having an altercation with police officers who we’d aggravated by playing too long. Danny allegedly knocked over our huge Marshall stacks on some of Middletown’s finest who had rushed the stage because we broke the law by…playing too long. As I stood there watching, several police oficers crawled out from underneath the speaker cabinets and rushed away to seek medical attention. Another nice young officer stood in front of me onstage waving his nightstick, poking and calling me nasty names. I looked over to see Danny with a beefy police officer pulling on one arm while Flo Federici, his first wife, pulled on the other, assisting her man in resisting arrest. A kid leapt from the audience onto the stage, momentarily distracting the beefy officer with the insults of the day. Forever thereafter, “Phantom” Dan Federici slipped into the crowd and disappeared. A warrant out for his arrest and one month on the lam later, he still hadn’t been brought to justice. We hid him in various places but now we had a problem. We had a show coming at Monmouth College. We needed the money and we had to do the gig. We tried a replacement but it didn’t work out. So Danny, to all of our admiration, stepped up and said he’d risk his freedom, take the chance and play.
Show night. 2,000 screaming fans in the Monmouth College gym. We had it worked out so Danny would not appear onstage until the moment we started playing. We figured the police who were there to arrest him wouldn’t do so onstage during the show and risk starting another riot. Let me set the scene for you. Danny is hiding, hunkered down in the backseat of a car in the parking lot. At five minutes to eight, our scheduled start time, I go out to whisk him in. I tap on the window. “Danny, come on, it’s time.” I hear back, “I’m not going.” Me: “What do you mean you’re not going?” Danny: “The cops are on the roof of the gym. I’ve seen them and they’re going to nail me the minute I step out of this car.” As I open the door, I realize that Danny has been smoking a little something and had grown rather paranoid. I said, “Dan, there are no cops on the roof.” He says, “Yes, I saw them, I tell you. I’m not coming in.” So I used a procedure I’d call on often over the next forty years in dealing with my old pal’s concerns. I threatened him…and cajoled. Finally, out he came. Across the parking lot and into the gym we swept for a rapturous concert during which we laughted like thieves at our excellent dodge of the local cops. At the end of the evening, during the last song, I pulled the entire crowd up onto the stage and Danny slipped into the audience and out the front door. Once again, “Phantom” Dan had made his exit. (I still get the occasional card from the old Chief of Police of Middletown wishing us well. Our histories are forever intertwined.) And that, my friends, was only the beginning.
There was the time Danny quit the band during a rough period at Max’s Kansas City, explaining to me that he was leaving to fix televisions. I asked him to think about that and come back later. Or Danny, in the band rental car, bouncing off several parked cars after a night of entertainment, smashing out the windshield with his head but saved from severe injury by the huge hard cowboy hat he bought in Texas on our last Western swing. Or Danny, leaving a large marijuana plant on the front seat of his car in a tow away zone. The car was promptly towed. He said, “Bruce, I’m going to go down and report that it was stolen.” I said, “I’m not sure that’s a good idea.” Down he went and straight into the slammer without passing go. Or Danny, the only member of the E Street Band to be physically thrown out of the Stone Pony. Considering all the money we made them, that wasn’t easy to do. Or Danny receiving and surviving a “cautionary assault” from an enraged but restrained “Big Man” Clarence Clemons while they were living together and Danny finally drove the “Big Man” over the big top. Or Danny assisting me in removing my foot from his stereo speaker after being the only band member ever to drive me into a violent rage. And through it all, Danny played his beautiful, soulful B3 organ for me and our love grew. And continued to grow. Life is funny like that. He was my homeboy, and great, and for that you make considerations… And he was much more tolerant of my failures than I was of his. When Danny wasn’t causing chaos, he was a sweet, talented, unassuming, unpretentious good-hearted guy who simply had an unchecked ability to make good fortune and things in general go fabulously wrong. But beyond all of that, he also had a mountain of the right stuff. He had the heart and soul of an engineer. He learned to fly. He was always up on the latest technology and would explain it to you patiently and in enormous detail. He was always “souping” something up, his car, his stereo, his B3. When Patti joined the band, he was the most welcoming, thoughtful, kindest friend to the first woman entering our “boys club.” He loved his kids, always bragging about Jason, Harley, and Madison, and he loved his wife Maya for the new things she brought into his life. And then there was his artistry. He was the most intuitive player I’ve ever seen. His style was slippery and fluid, drawn to the spaces the other musicians in the E Street Band left. He wasn’t an assertive player, he was a complementary player. A true accompanist. He naturally supplied the glue that bound the band’s sound together. In doing so, he created for himself a very specific style. When you hear Dan Federici, you don’t hear a blanket of sound, you hear a riff, packed with energy, flying above everything else for a few moments and then gone back in the track. “Phantom” Dan Federici. Now you hear him, now you don’t. Offstage, Danny couldn’t recite a lyric or a chord progression for one of my songs. Onstage, his ears opened up. He listened, he felt, he played, finding the perfect hole and placement for a chord or a flurry of notes. This style created a tremendous feeling of spontaneity in our ensemble playing. In the studio, if I wanted to loosen up the track we were recording, I’d put Danny on it and not tell him what to play. I’d just set him loose. He brought with him the sound of the carnival, the amusements, the boardwalk, the beach, the geography of our youth and the heart and soul of the birthplace of the E Street Band.
Then we grew up. Very slowly. We stood together through a lot of trials and tribulations. Danny’s response to a mistake onstage, hard times, catastrophic events was usually a shrug and a smile. Sort of an “I am but one man in a raging sea, but I’m still afloat. And we’re all still here.” I watched Danny fight and conquer some tough addictions. I watched him struggle to put his life together and in the last decade when the band reunited, thrive on sitting in his seat behind that big B3, filled with life and, yes, a new maturity, passion for his job, his family and his home in the brother and sisterhood of our band. Finally, I watched him fight his cancer without complaint and with great courage and spirit. When I asked him how things looked, he just said, “what are you going to do? I’m looking forward to tomorrow.” Danny, the sunny side up fatalist. He never gave up right to the end.
A few weeks back we ended up onstage in Indianapolis for what would be the last time. Before we went on I asked him what he wanted to play and he said, “Sandy.” He wanted to strap on the accordion and revisit the boardwalk of our youth during the summer nights when we’d walk along the boards with all the time in the world. So what if we just smashed into three parked cars, it’s a beautiful night! So what if we’re on the lam from the entire Middletown police department, let’s go take a swim! He wanted to play once more the song that is of course about the end of something wonderful and the beginning of something unknown and new. Let’s go back to the days of miracles. Pete Townshend said, “a rock and roll band is a crazy thing. You meet some people when you’re a kid and unlike any other occupation in the whole world, you’re stuck with them your whole life no matter who they are or what crazy things they do.”
If we didn’t play together, the E Street Band at this point would probably not know one another. We wouldn’t be in this room together. But we do… We do play together. And every night at 8 p.m., we walk out on stage together and that, my friends, is a place where miracles occur…old and new miracles. And those you are with, in the presence of miracles, you never forget. Life does not separate you. Time does not separate you. Animosities do not separate you. Death does not separate you. Those you are with who create miracles for you, like Danny did for me every night, you are honored to be amongst. Of course we all grow up and we know “it’s only rock and roll”…but it’s not. After a lifetime of watching a man perform his miracle for you, night after night, it feels an awful lot like love. So today, making another one of his mysterious exits, we say farewell to Danny, “Phantom” Dan, Federici. Father, husband, my brother, my friend, my mystery, my thorn, my rose, my keyboard player, my miracle man and lifelong member in good standing of the house rockin’, pants droppin’, earth shockin’, hard rockin’, booty shakin’, love makin’, heart breakin’, soul cryin’… and, yes, death defyin’ legendary E Street Band.“

50 Completely Random Questions People Rarely Ask Tag:
1. What’s your favorite candle scent? Red Apple Wreath - Yankee Candle. It's perfectly Autumnal and always goes on half price sale after Christmas. I have far too many versions of it
2. What female celebrity do you wish you were related to? Probably Maya Rudolph because she's a shameless weirdo like me
3. What male celebrity do you wish was your brother? Probably Peter Kay. I feel like he would be easy to open up to. And he would make awkward family events so much more bearable
4. What’s your favorite thing about marriage? (And if you’re not married, what’s your favorite thing about being single?) Security. Safety. I didn't expect it to feel any different because we had been living together for a while but something about the actual marriage made me feel protected and comfortable. Also because its a same-sex marriage it's a lot nicer to say my wife than my fiancée, because i would wonder if they assume my fiancée is male

The First Feminist I Ever Met
...is my mom. Dad used to say she was THE first feminist! Mom was funny, pretty and a tough woman who promoted fairness and justice. She loved animals so very much. I still feel satisfied at how she scared the crap out of those kids throwing a bird at a wall near the South pool. We took that bird home. She let us keep all the strays we found, even if we carried them home. ( they mostly went back to their owners). If you asked for help, she was there.
I watched her reinvent herself many times over - earning respect and maybe a little fear from her co-workers. I sat on the sidelines as she took over Boise Boys Baseball. She ironed peoples clothes on the side, while I stood in a playpen, both of us watching General Hospital in black and white. I read essays she wrote. She gave me my first poetry books. She bought us comic books and top 10 45’s. She sang like Patsy Cline. When I was sick at 10 years old, St. Luke’s put me in a crib in this room with a half a dozen kids all crying and some dying. I was practically unconcious, but I could hear her yelling at those goddamn doctors and nurses to move me now! I ended up with a private room, quarantined. With masks, my parents could come see me. My mom always took hers off because she knew better than the nurses that a little girl needed to see her moms face. I lived for her footsteps coming down the hall.
When I was older and not wiser, at 21, mom rescued me from an abusive relationship and helped me find and clean an apartment to start anew. It’s the first time I learned about cockroaches- she dumbed them down for me thank god! She did what she had to do, sometimes loudly. Mom was an east coast driver and early on I learned most of my curse words from her, along with what the middle finger meant.
A part of her, and driven by society told her she had to be thin. She tried all sorts of diets with the same ferocious nature. One of those miracle drugs was Phen Phen, but it destroyed her and blew a couple valves in her heart. Because of this, blood thinners became a daily dose and they are the one pill she could not control. On her last day here, she hit her head, they couldn’t stop the bleeding. She waited for Ben and I to get to the hospital. The nurse said she’d give us time and then I could sign the release to unhook her from life support. Mom made me sign “that” form the year before because she said I would be the only one able to handle it, I was tough like her. However, in her Carole Ann way, and once we all surrounded her, she squeezed mine and my sons hand and left on her own. Her face relaxed and her beauty was overwhelming. I felt that woman enter my heart. It was so powerful, it made me shiver and shake.
My dad was very traumatized by all of this, and repeatedly told me - Beck, at the end all your mother would ask me is - “Have I been a good girl?” He assured her over and over that she was and has always been good.
She loved us when we were jerks, when we had babies and when we were apart. I’m sorry I never told her she was good and amazing. I thought she knew. I tell her now when I talk to her spirit. When I was down or maybe just because she saw I needed it, she would lightly pull my pony tail or scratch the top of my hand with her nails. On really bad days, I swear I feel her doing one of those things.
It’s so overwhelming to meander through these thoughts today, on her birth and death day. January 27th. I think about people I love and remind myself to let them know they are amazing and good because believing that you think they know is not nearly good enough.
Because I am my mother’s daughter, I also am passionate for justice and fairness and sometimes clunky in my manners and patience, but hey, fuck it, I learned from the best so that’s just how it is, and whatever will be will be. (She taught me that song too)❤️
My mom was a fierce lion in red lipstick.
And she was Good.

Code name: Bearclaw

Gender/Pronouns: Male, he/him
Date of Birth: October 1, 1992
Age: 27
Hometown: Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea

Canon: The Muscle 1
PART TWO; about
Biography: ( tw: implied child neglect/abuse, self-harm )
I.
Commonplace: yelling, being cramped together, the house never smelling right. Noise complaints from all around, excuses left and right. No apologies, at least from where they should really come. Loud, loud silence. Not knowing if the sun will be up the next time you open your eyes. You know, in that “the day’s starting” way.
If this could feel any more normal for every next child cursed into this family, he would’ve gotten down on his knees the minute he’d learned to do that by will. Not to pray it away or beg for a different fate, however. Just to reassign the ache there from places he learns aren’t supposed to hurt. Because tough luck, kiddos.
If that didn’t kill them or us, then I can’t imagine anything else will.
V.
“If what didn’t kill you?”
I.
Of six, he is none of these: the oldest, the youngest, the runt of the pack. And he doesn’t wish he would be even if it would mean not being at the frontline of all these terrible things or not knowing any better. Wishes are complacent anyway if you don’t meet what you want at the half-mark. They’re also an unnecessary step. Hope, too, is cruel.
For example:
“Oh, if only there was something to eat…”
“Fingers crossed you can watch the rest of ‘em today. I’ve got a late night shift.”
But really, you should just do it, right? Speaking it into existence wastes time. Having expectations is hit or miss. “I want this” here, “I can only dream” there.
And I don’t? I can’t?
Let’s do the work. However we’re able to.
Give God the benefit of doubt while you’re at it.
II.
It’s plenty of dissociation, misplacement. Being unable to afford bad decisions or anything else for that matter, excusing habits looked down upon as getting by. They aren’t as much pickpockets and scammers as they are tired, cold, dismissed. All four who don’t work proper jobs yet at least, the first two managing crumbs in their own ways elsewhere. Amongst them, being huddled together on the subway makes home for the following questions:
When’s the last time you’ve seen Dad?
Mom’s taken one too many pills? (Again?)
What are pills?
So?
Did you already eat?
More days come after, the sun first. There’s food on the table, five heads out of eight in time for dinner, the first meal of the day. Within months, they adjust to wins that should feel like losses: five being a fixed number, just enough coins for Sunday laundry and a pie from the convenience store. Pitying neighbors who just want what’s best for them, prying neighbors bold to think they have anything else to their name.
If we prove you wrong, pony up.
III.
With his conscription out of the way, his 20s off to some start, he checks up on his younger siblings first. They’re all in school, either finishing up or causing trouble or figuring it out. That paternal instinct is all the same, shoulders worn from more than the physical toil training and everything else in between had given him. Hitting up his older sister won’t make the feeling leave seeing as how she left him with it. Their older brother’s just as hopeless of a case as the ones who’d come before, who’d gotten them all here. He could continue the pattern at 23, add to the ample proof that they’re all cursed or just plain dickish (same difference, isn’t it).
Home is last, isn’t in shambles when he swings by. New and old neighbors alike look at him like he’s somebody they don’t know. Is it the military buzzcut? Having some meat on his arms this time? Eventually he sees the lack of recognition is well-intended, with them approaching him first for once.
“Welcome back, kid. Got a little something for ya.” They lead him to a new setup in what was once their good-for-nothing, “we’ll make do” living room: a proper kitchen and dining space. All that jazz though modest in its design. Doesn’t make it any less thoughtful.
Recipes his siblings have always wanted to try growing up sit quaint on the countertop. Remember when you fucked around with rice flour, wet stuff, and an oven and actually made it work? one note reads. Another one has hearts around the title of the dessert.
III.
It’s a cruel scenario to wake up from. Abrupt. That “in another life” nonsense. He doesn’t leave town for good thinking they’re ungrateful when he visits for real and finds everything untouched. Just sets an example for how to lead your life if you don’t wanna be stuck in both yesterday and tomorrow at the same time. Wonders what reasoning the others before him had. Puts a nail in that in the same breath.
Humors the thought of fucking around with rice flour, wet stuff, and an oven for, well. Not this.
IV.
Happy holidays. We wouldn’t have lasted without you. I hope you know that. Come back or else they’re just gonna be holidays. Don’t make us wait until you’re thirty on the dot.
— Dahyun, Donghan, Donghyuk
V.
“I gotta get going.” He peeps the sun out the window over her shoulder, leaning in to kiss her good luck for the day. It’s starting. “Pick up your usual on the way out.”
