Today's Adventure is that I, after an unintentional 13-hour power nap,

Got woken up at 6AM by a phone call from a friend stranded in Montana because of the heat wave and almost no cell service because of their crap provider.

I somehow summon a week's worth of spoons and in less than 30 minutes and 5 phone calls, get them

A hotel

An appointment with a mechanic from 2 states away

A perscription refilled from 2 states away

and A Pizza

Go me.

But then it's 8AM and there are unscheduled live humans at the door and while EVERGENCY MODE is still on, I have already blown through a ton of spoons, and also probably shouldn't meet whoever it is wearing just a pair of bootyshorts that say "CRYPTID" in Gothic Font on my ass.

So I greet them in those shorts and a T-shirt that I manage to put on both inside out and backwards

He'll be fine

He's a cattle dog, they're legally required to have at least 1 really disgusting snack they love.

So I only got my lobes re pierced late last year (got em done when I was a kid but lady was talking to mum while she did em so they were SO wonky I let em close) and only started wearing dangly earrings about uhhhhh two days ago and I am Obsessed. How was I living my life without these??? I now understand how my friend ended up packing 1kg of earrings for uni (that's not even all of her earrings) because this shit FUCKS. I have these like. Seashell slice (??? Idek man) earrings that kinda look like bone and I LOVE THEM. Also have these HUGE sword earrings my dunners friends got me for my 18th and they hurt but MAN are they cool.

So yeah new personality trait acquired and its called ~Dangly Earrings~

The strap wasn't bigger than the average dick as you didn't know how used he was to having dildos shoved up his ass – and even though you wanted to hurt him, you were still cautious over how harsh you were with him. He was your squishy Haechannie after all.

A Very MacTavish Christmas - @m3rrywe4ther

Prob my fav fic in the fandom lololol. HUGE RECCOMMEND. It's about Johnny who gets roped into spending the holiday Christmas season with his , for the most part, very not so nice family, and Simon accompanies him. So much stuff happens in this fic and it's such a great character exploration of Simon and Johnny independently, but also as a couple, and just so much stuff happens in it lol again, HUGE RECOMMEND!!!

We'll make Death Proud to Take us - Literal_Satan

Fic where, it starts off really sweet where Simon goes to Scotland with Johnny to spend Christmas with him and his family, but things take a drastic turn when Soap's brother, a police officer/detective, gets a little too curious about mysterious Simon, and the story spirals from there. All the guys end up on this crazy goose chase tracking down some of the people who were involved in Roba's brainwashing operations. The fic gets v dark at times and deals with some very heavy trauma so beware, but it's SO. GOOD.

Dream a Little Dream - Angelicasdean

Again, one of my total fav fics in the fandom!! AU where Simon leaves the army to raise his nephew Joseph, who's the sole survivor of the Riley family massacre, and Johnny is one of the daycare teachers at the daycare where Simon takes Jo 🥺🥺👍👍

Pretend to love me like I do - FetteEule

Really cute fic of Simon who accompanied Johnny to Scotland for his sister's wedding, under the ruse they are dating. They are v much pining but not there yet. Features lots of really cute domestic moments and Simon being really sweet to Johnny's kid nephew 😭🧡

Something important - Anonymous

One of the fics that has me totally brainrotted rn. It's about Simon's who's been de-aged to 6 years old, and Price, Gaz and Soap all taking care of him and trying to figure out how he got turned, and how to turn him back! They all get tested on their abilities to care for a child, and unwillingly learn a lot of details about Simon's childhood they never knew. This summary doesn't do it justice tho, so I'd just recommend checking it out! Beware tho again, there is some dark childhood trauma stuff but there are warnings at the start of each chapter that contains references to it.

Seasons - StinglessWasp

In this fic every chapter is set during a different season and tells a unique sort of story/mission/interaction Soap and Ghost have. Definitely some v good angst&hurt/comfort stuffs too. Starts off pre-relationship, and explores their characters a lot! It's just really good HUGE reccommend lol.

What the Eyes Don't see - WhiplashRogue

One of my FAVESSSS! So the premise is like, Soap can actually see ghosts ever since he was a child (which most other people can't see and also don't believe in), and Ghost has 2 spirits attached to him that follow him around(Joseph, and Roach). The fic starts off pre relationship, and it mostly about Soap trying to learn more about these two spirits and discovering more about Ghost's past.

All that's said in the Low Light - Headlocket

Probably one of the most emotional I've ever read LMFAO. It's about Johnny, who receives a back & knee injury bad enough he gets discharged from the army, and is back in Scotland living with his parents as he recovers. He and Ghost lost contact a bit since the accident, and it's sort of a story of them reconnecting. This description doesn't do it justice, just read it, but it will emotionally destroy you lol

Time Loops Suck (series) - Enter_fand0m_reference00

The first installment of the fic takes the idea that Soap is stuck in a time loop during the alone mission! And all the optional dialogues and interactions in thE alone mission are separate attempts of his trying to survive the loops and rendez vous with Ghost. It's just sooo good!! And then there's a follow up fic where it deals with the mental aftermath of the loops and Ghost comforting soap through it, then there's 2 other installments of Simon who instead goes through a time loop! They are such great character explorations in how both Soap and Ghost experience the loops, and I whooleee heartedly reccommend.

Yellow Card - SkerryB

Soccer au fic!! It's so good! Simon is the captain of a soccer team Soap is drafted to as their new goalie. Simon has had a history with Soap before though, that he was the only goalie Simon could never score on! So that's how it starts, and it's just so good from there!! Simon's family are also alive in the fic and his nephew is adorable.

You swept me off my feet - @ghoulishhone

Ghost is down bad for strong Soap, the fic xD This was a fic Ghoulishone and I were paired together to work on for the Ghostsoap server reverse bang! They wrote the fic and I made some accompanying art. Just a cute fic of Soap having to pick up Ghost after he gets injured and some other shenanigans that ensues:)

Dear Mr Ghost - @shortcuts-make-long-delays

SUCH A CUTE FIC!! The majority of the fic is these letter/pen pal exchanges between Ghost, and Soap's young niece Chloe...it's just. So. Good. And was written by a friend of mine too! BIG RECCOMMEND.

Give me Hope and Let me Down - MechanicalBones

Some of the best Ghost whump I read lolll. Ghost is captured by some people with ties to Roba and tortured. Meanwhile Soap is on his way to rescue him, and eventually he does, and there's a lot of hurt and comfort. It's also a getting together fic. 🥺

Unspoken Love - Hammy101

( Super amazing oneshot. I feel I can't do this fic justice with any summary. Just read it. 🥺 It has decent Ghost whump AND domestic off duty cute ghost soap angsty stuff it's just one of my faves ever!!!!)

Except You, You can Stay - Iravaid

Really realistic, believable portrayal and expansion upon a lot of the key events that happen in the Ghost comics. From his childhood, to the mental aftermath of Roba, his family dying...it's heavy but really really good. And has a happier hopeful ending that's Ghost/Soap 🥺

Hat Trick of the Heart and the sequel Family, Gotta Love em - Librarian_FanFicFan

Absolutely am obsessed with these fics!!! It's an AU about Ghost who is recently discharged from the military due to injury, and on a flight back to London where he is seated next to Soap, a famous footballer/soccer player. Ghost doesn't know who he is tho, but they hit it off and exchange numbers. The second installment features Simon's family!!! And Tommy being dramatic and shocked over the fact his brother got the number of this famous sports player... SUPER CUTE IF YOU LIKE RILEY FAMILY STUFF.

As for my fav CoD authors I wholeheartedly recommend anything by:

RedClegane, m3rrywe4ther, Hammy101, TheEdwardianOne, Iravaid, and so many authors but I can't list them all ahaha...but hopefully this is a good start!

updates on the current situation (5/6):

85 dead and 134 missing (confirmed). over 200k people lost their homes, with around 47k of them in shelters and 153k at a relative's/friend's house. over 1.1 million people affected in 385 out of 497 cities. thousands of people across the state have no water or power supply, and we won't have those for at least a couple weeks. it hasn't rained in the metropolitan area but it has in the southern cities.

the main tv channel, Globo, finally acknowledged the tragedy properly but we all know they're doing it only because they have to. when it was still raining and flooding everywhere, they literally only reported the Madonna show in Copabacana. they would speak about RS for 10 minutes and her show would get 30 min. honestly, nothing wrong with the show or anything (frankly i'd love to be there and not just because we're currently underwater) but they should've been more sensible. this is one of the worse catastrophes in the history of this country and they basically said "okay we hear yall we just want to see Madonna first ok then we'll talk about whatever yall are going through". and just now they're sending reporters to talk about us. i might be overreacting but this feels so fake and like they don't actually care about us, even if they do.

anyways, it makes me happy to see everyone in the community helping each other. there are so many volunteering that some shelters had to formally announce they have more than enough to help and this makes my heart so full. ofc there are terrible people everywhere (and there a LOT here) but the good ones are stronger. i was struggling to see humanity but it's here, in every volunteer and rescuer and anyone who's taking their time to help in any way or another, be it sheltering friends or donating. we the people are the ones who are actually doing the most so yeah this is also a huge fuck you to the government who's not even doing the bare minimum 👍

One of the things that gets me so bad about the qsmp admin situation is that I can’t have faith that they’re restructuring in a way that will make conditions better for the admins and volunteers when they still have yet to reach out to any of them for testimonies on what their experiences were. Even beyond not sending them a “we’re working in it,” I can’t understand how they would expect to fix a problem that they haven’t made efforts to understand. Lea’s statement was out at the time, but they would have had no perspective from Pomme or the other actors until they left with public statements or the update accounts staff or anyone else on the team barring the higher ups who were part of the problem. In being cut off from the server, their avenues were limited in how they could actually have their grievances heard, so like. I can see why they would go public. If the team didn’t want “leaks” then they should have provided a way to give testimony in private even if they couldn’t guarantee a single thing about how things would proceed. It’s all just very strange to me and it doesn’t make me optimistic that the restructuring will amount to more than just layoffs

I will never understand how their very first action wasn’t to get in contact with every admins (actor, community manager, supervisor, dev, writer, whatever) and collect their thoughts on what was wrong with the Qstudios administration. Like I’m not even talking about long 1 on 1 conversations you could literally just set up an email address and/or a google form for people to send their written thoughts to.

The way many people (me, a dumbass, included), thought at first that the admins were give the silent treatment just because it was taking Qstudios some time to think about how to approach them and the situation but then the twitter admins just got fired without a word ? And oh boy the « leaks » excuse, maybe they shouldn’t have to worry about ex admins speaking up publicly after being ignored by their higher ups of they just had…communicated with them ? Also if you talk to ex admins and try genuinely to fix things what are they gonna leak ? That you’re trying your best ?? That you are taking steps towards change ?

And yeah I’m not optimistic either. If QSMP wants to keep going, you will still need admins (Developers, translators, people to fix bugs, to manage the websites…) and paying these people a fair salary will cost money, and I fear that every type of admins that will be deemed unnecessary will be cut off for saving money purposes. I really hope this doesn’t happen but for now it seems like no one among the deciding powers at Qstudios has shown us that they care or even that they know what they’re doing so yeah 👍

Do you have any tips or tricks on how to start a comic like this? Or even just how you got started?? I've had my own au for years that I so badly wanna put out into the world but I've been struggling with finding a good way to start it!!!!

Hm!! Ok!! This is a tough question with many different answers even just from me. I'll do my best to answer tho!! 😮

The main bit of advice I want to give, and which I think is vital to anyone creating anything:

☆ Know yourself.

When looking up advice for creating, people love to tell you that by doing things a specific way is the best and only way to go. Often advice of this sort has solid points, you should plan ahead, you should have easy character designs, buut... You don't have to.

I do not work well with outlines or scripts. I dislike sketching. You'd think that'd make being a long form comic artist impossible for me, but nope.

I know theres things I cannot do, so I've put all my practise to what I can do. My lineart style allows me to almost skip sketching completely, my scripts are more of an A to B structure than law. I improv 90% of the time when making pages. It's kinda like dnd with myself.

I would absolutely not reccomend what I'm doing to others, but I know it works for me. People can tell me I'm doing it wrong but its either wrong or no comic at all, SO. Suck it. 👍

Er. Rambling now.

My point is, figure out what you can and cant do, and do your best to give yourself the ideal work enviorment and process.

☆ Deal with being overwhelmed

Making just a few panels and suddenly realising its gonna take years to get anywhere is SO demoralising. It's gonna happen and its gonna happen again, and again, and—

But continuing with the earlier advice, you gotta ask yourself what would help you. Are you willing to sacrifice quality? Do you just need a break? Maybe you're like me and like to include smth you love in every update so you'll have something to get excited about making.

That feeling of overwhelm is trying to tell you something, so figure out what that is so it wont end the project for you.

☆ Start it

You wont like what you make when starting. I've never heard of an artist who has.

I'm not saying start this instant, not everyone is as into improv and flailing around as me. But I will say you'll never feel ready. Figure out the minimun of what you need to start and do it. Show friends first if youre afraid to post.

Also where to start? Well sure there's lots of good advice online about that, but you can also just doodle random stuff until you feel like diving deeper. A "failed project" or "forgotten WIP" is only a failure if you let yourself feel that way. Yea it can be a hauntingly strong feeling thats hard to deal with... But it can be beaten. WIPS are proof you tried and not everyone can say they have.

Lv is far from done and I have no intention of dropping it, but because the journey has been so nice I'd satisfied even if I had to call it here. Its smth that helps me with the overwhelm... What I've made is beautiful even now.

Comparing yourself to others is gonna rip your heart out. I love that theres other links meet aus out there and hope the best for those artists but I caNNot follow any of them or I'll crumble to dust.

So Uhm.

I've finally managed to start reading Purple Haze Feedback recently and was hit with a flashback of how shitty Fugo was seen by some people in the fandom(at least people I was around at the time).

Like- yeah, it was kinda disappointing when he left the other instead of also going to go betray the boss, but shit I wouldn't wanna go either! He was still young and had a lot to live, i don't blame him for not wanting to go on a suicide mission!

Also, going in a more fanfic/yandere centered idea here, I always thought it would've been a lot funnier if more authors wrote the Reader also deciding not to join the gang to go defeat the boss instead of just following along

Bruno: We're going to betray the boos, so as soon as you enter this boat, you will be considered a traitor! I won't pressure or force any of you to do it, so enter at your own discretion!

Reader: Wow... that's a very difficult decision ...well, good luck to all of you!

Bruno: Yes ,thank- wait, you're not coming?

Reader, the moment they heard "betray the boss" leave Bruno's mouth:

Another idea that always comes to mind when talking about Fugo is the fact that at first, he was going to be a spy amd would betray the gang (If i remember it correctly).

I always thought it would be an interesting concept to have Reader working for Diavolo since the beginning (bonus points for angst if the gang ends up finding THAT out in the worst moment possible lol)

Reader, messaging Diavolo every few minutes to update him on the gang's behavior:

It’s a rather tall order to ask some sixteen year old teenager to casually betray the whole mafia and specifically the most powerful man on top who they have never met before. I’d like to think Fugo was thinking over every unknown they weren’t guaranteed to find out. Let alone if they even had a chance to even fight at all. I never personally blamed the dude for peacing out personally.

So being Yandere I could absolutely see him do just about everything to get you to hesitate to go with Bruno and the others. He’d bend over backwards to do so, especially if you were hesitant yourself. Like sure there’s a chance you and the others by some miracle could defeat the boss, but depending on how he utilizes his organization and stand users against you, it would get ugly real quick. He even insists it’s just not worth getting hurt/killed over.

It’s likely his selfish desire to keep you to himself talking but he won’t back down in trying to keep you there with him. I always felt like Fugo could make a very compelling argument too, it’s almost scary how convincing he’d likely be. (That’s if you were unsure which way to go, if you didn’t want to go with Bruno and the others I’m certain it’d be much easier for him to take advantage of)

Spy! Reader with a Yandere Diavolo would be fantastic, almost scary in a horror sense. As you can easily doom the gang with your extra intel and knowledge with hanging out with all of them. Not to mention any calls or eventually bumping into Doppio would lead to some very interesting interactions. I can already hear the “dearest y/n” at some point once you succeed on sabotaging the Bucciarati gang.

Apologies if you've gone over this already but I would like to know how you think Fernando and Lance would spend quality time with the older kids. I'm especially curious about what kind of activities Lance and Carlos would do together for a fun bonding experience

Ooohh, good one... 😍

With Carlos I think he'd go golfing a lot. Lance would be the only one to give him a proper challenge, since Lando would always end up just goofing around, Oscar will not touch a golf club with a ten foot stick and Fernando would just get pissed off when he's losing 😭 Carlos would never admit it, but he enjoys spending time with Lance and getting to hear all the newest gossip while there's no-one else around to bother them.

With Oscar, Lance would bundle up with him on the couch and watch tiktoks for 3 hours straight, giggling and crying at how dumb Oscar's fyp is. Lance would also take Oscar around for coffee etc. to get an update on the family because Oscar knows EVERYTHING that happens around here. He's like Lance's little spy that tells him about all the insane shit the others are doing 😭

Lando is a tricky one... I feel like him and Lance would probably play video games (with Lance losing horribly) and just hang out. They'd have their own inside jokes no-one else in the fam understands and laugh at the most stupid things. Lance really likes Lando's sarcasm and dry humour 🤧✌️

This turned into just Lance spending time with them, but yk, Fernando is hovering in the background 😭👍 Okay, no, we need Nando interaction with the kids also!!!

With Carlos, he'd go cycling and sightseeing around Oviedo, constantly telling the same stories about growing up there. Carlos would always listen and not interrupt, because his dad would get so excited to tell him 😭🫶

With Lando, I think Fernando likes to do more random stuff, whatever pops into their minds. Skydiving? Sure. Go wakeboarding? Sure. Break into Lance's wine cabinet and steal the most expensive bottle? Sure. They would never tell Lance what they're doing and he'd find out later from Oscar snitching them out and give them and earful 🤧

When it comes to Oscar, Fernando just enjoys every moment with him. He missed a lot of years with him being in Australia, so he tries to make up for the time now. Fernando tries his best not to show how sad it makes him when Oscar tells him about all the things he and Mark do, the things he missed out on. Now this became depressing, nooo 😭😭

Ahaha, I'm so glad you're enjoying it! I've always really liked, as you describe it, soft sadism, where it's about the intimacy, the connection, and the sort of delightfully recursive loop you get when the suffering is enjoyed, and the enjoyment of the suffering also contributes to the suffering, whether it be via enthusiasm or humiliation. Funnily enough, despite the kind of stuff that I write, S&M that feels genuinely callous and miserable is fully capable of squicking me if it hits just wrong. I really like writing sadism that feels tender, even when it's violent.
