Murder on the Christmas Express
Murder on the Christmas Express, by Alexandra Benedict, was a really wild ride, with Quality Street chocolates and a Christmas-themed pub quiz,  and also a body count with a disturbing motive! The novel is a bit confused, although it contained so many elements I enjoyed. The book goes back and forth between thoughts on life and aging, and a snappy Christie-inspired train murder. I love both a…

AJ: I think the trick with genies isn’t to be as specific as possible, but instead it’s to wish for something you don’t want in a way that would lead to the “unintended” consequences being what you DO want.
AJ: You need to play 4D chess with the genie. I think they’d actually find it amusing.
Eggs and Mike in unison: Genie enrichment.
Nate, roughly at the same time and without looking up from the keyboard: Enrichment for your genie.
AJ: OK, cool. So we’re all on the same page about genie enrichment then.

It doesn’t have to be Christmas to enjoy this novel - it’s full of murder, riddles, gain evil doer, and even secret anagrams from the author hidden in the text. Beautiful prose as well.
Can you find the anagram I’ve hidden in this post?

I really enjoyed this book, far more than I could have imagined. It’s a Christmas murder mystery, like duh, where Lily’s aunt has died and her last request is for Lily and all her cousins to come together in the family home. The purpose of this Christmas reunion, to compete in a game of riddles to gain ownership of the house.
The players of the game are isolated in a country house, which has seen a number of deaths in the past, and now people are dying again. Lily arrived with the aim to discover the cause of her mothers suspicious death. But in order to get through the twelve days of Christmas alive, she may have to discover which of her relatives are capable of murder.
If your looking for a modern Christmas murder mystery, this is a great recent addition to a fun seasonal genre, so…enjoy!

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this Arc!
What a perfectly cozy Holiday thriller!
This follows Lilly, a quiet but kind designer that winds up getting wrapped up in family drama when her Aunt dies and her last letter requests Lilly to join a 12 days of Christmas game to win the family mansion.
Lilly's mother committed suicide in the maze behind this huge house when Lilly was very young. However, as the game begins and Lilly unravels anagrams in the clues, she realizes there is a lot more to learn about her mother and family... especially, when the other cousins begin to be murdered one by one.
This really gave me great fall and winter/holiday vibes. The perfect read to snuggle up with a blanket and some hot cocoa!
Out October 4, 2022!
Content warnings for violence, death, murder, some gore.

Murder on the Christmas Express Alexandra Benedict
The story finds 18 passengers stranded on a derailed train on Christmas Eve with a killer stalking the carriages.
In the early hours of Christmas Eve, the sleeper train to the Highlands is derailed, along with the festive plans of its travellers. With the train stuck in snow in the middle of nowhere, a killer stalks its carriages, picking off passengers one by one.
A very different festive read but thoroughly enjoyable. Very well written and kept me as a reader engaged from beginning to end.

Kelly's #bookreview of Murder On The Christmas Express by Alexandra Benedict @ak_benedict @simonschusterUK #booktwt #bookblogger #fivestarread
Murder On The Christmas Express by Alexandra Benedict  Review by Kelly Lacey  I went into the book expecting a cosy crime read. Just based on the cover. Cosy crime is not what this book is at all. It is a hard-hitting topical read. It absolutely has reading triggers such as rape and abuse.  I really enjoyed the main protagonist Roz Parker. She was feisty and believable. Her Scottishness…

sometimes I think this she should be Sophie but she’s to gorgeous but also way to sexy hot for Benedict (who is pretty sure and cute but never could be this level) it wouldn’t be realistic that a himbo could pull her sorry
