I've been thinking a lot lately about how Dabi feels post dance and the Paranormal Liberation War in regards to losing Twice and Compress all in the same day.

Obviously he's ecstatic that he finally got to reveal himself, got to see his father face the consequences of his neglect, and tell the whole world about what a piece of shit the Number One hero is to his own family.

But after those scenes, despite all the recent promotional art of him smiling, he doesn't actually seem happy. In some cases it even seems like he's doing worse mentally.

We missed out on a lot in not getting to see how the remaining League members feel immediately after that battle. We don't even get to see Shigaraki acknowledge losing Twice and Compress, if he even knows what happened to them with AFO trying to take him over.

All we really get are these panels when AFO is breaking other villains out of prisons around Japan. And he and Spinner just look so exhausted.

Dabi is clearly upset about losing Twice given his confrontation with Hawks, but after that we don't see him talk about it at all. We do see him with this look when Compress brings up that he believes Twice died, but Dabi doesn't even mention that he was there with him in his final moments.

He just immediately switches gears and decides to focus all of his energy into hunting down Endeavor, kickstarting his plans for revenge much earlier than he expected.

The only other time we see him mention Twice is this moment with Toga (this scene is also the only time we see him smile post reveal and before the war).

We get even less when it comes to Mr. Compress, even though Dabi seemed the closest to him out of everyone in the League. Nothing gets said at all about him. Compress helps Dabi escape and tucks him away with Spinner before he sacrifices himself for them. But I don't think Dabi knew what Compress was really doing, that he wouldn't be coming back with them.

I also don't think the world had the reaction Dabi was hoping for after releasing his reveal video. Sure some people lost faith, and there was a press conference, but ultimately Endeavor didn't face any consequences. It confirmed what Dabi already knew, that nobody cares and heroes will continue to get away with anything in this society.

After this, in the few scenes he's in before the war, he just has blank stares.

Or he's annoyed that AFO isn't letting him go after Endeavor immediately.

He doesn't care about taking down the world, or AFO's plans, he's just impatient to kill his father and ultimately himself. Like Shoto said, he's been ready to die from the start. And I think losing the people he was closest to in the League only exacerbated his fatalistic mindset.

With Twice dead, Compress in prison, Shigaraki being possessed, and with what happened to Spinner, it's really just him and Toga left. He doesn't have a reason to really stick around for anyone anymore.

Which just makes me wonder if he blames himself. He's the one who brought Hawks in after all. If it wasn't for that, Twice and Compress might still be around, they might still have their base, their army. They lost everything, and he's partially to blame.

He's been deemed a failure since he was a child, by Endeavor, by AFO after his three-year coma. And then he failed in protecting the League, in judging how much of a threat Hawks actually was. He only brought Hawks in once they had formed the PLF. He thought with numbers behind them Hawks couldn't touch them when/if he turned on them. And he definitely didn't think that Hawks would actually kill anyone. But he was wrong.

In the end, he got exactly what he wanted, but I don't think he ever expected that the League would pay the price for it. Along with everything with his family, he might think that he deserves to die for what happened. For failing the people closest to him one last time.

AFO steals an immortality quirk while he is young. More specifically a quirk that prevents aging. So OFA is instead AFO's babysitter because a superpowerful child needs a superpowerful minder

A much happier AU! Yoichi is horrified when he first realizes his brother doesn't age. He has no idea what a bullet he just dodged.

Let's say that AFO got stuck around age five because he has to be very young to predate when he went evil. AFO gives Yoichi many more powerful quirks since now Yoichi is the one protecting and providing for them both. Since he's still an idealist, Yoichi joins the vigilantes as a youth. Second and Third adore little All for One. (His ego is much cuter when he's five.)

I'm sure they tried to persuade All for One to pass on the quirk so that he could grow up. But All for One discovered he liked everyone doting on him, and he'd have to get a job if he grew up, so he pretended he couldn't.

Without any supervillains to ruin everything, the trio lived long and happy lives. They asked their adopted kid Hikage Shinomori to look after little All for One after they passed. He's still a bit of a terror so they need to give Hikage One for All so that he has enough strong quirks to control a superpowered child. For plot convenience, One for All includes a body strengthening power so the holders don't die premmaturely.

After Yoichi's death, All for One was inconsolable but calmed down when he realized Yoichi's vestige was inside One for All. He's been clingy with all the holders ever since, viewing them as extensions of his brother.

All for One keeps getting passed down between the holders. In Toshinori's era, there was some trouble with the HPSC trying to kidnap him. But overall society is more peaceful. Nana is still alive by canon time to see Toshinori become number one hero.

After being selected as the Ninth, Izuku becomes close to little All for One and actually persuades him it would be fun to grow older and attend school. He finally lets go of the quirk. I'm sure it will fine, All for One had a few centuries of character development.

Bipolar!Shigaraki Tomura Headcanons

I'm writing it. Because I CAN

Before I start, I am writing these headcanons as someone who has been diagnosed with Bipolar Type 1 for almost three years now. I frankly could not care less if people don't think he has Bipolar Disorder, I'm writing this for my comfort and that of others who either have Bipolar disorder or just resonate with the idea that Tomura does.

and I'm also very aware of Bipolar Disorder being stigmatized as something that affects "bad" people. I'm not trying to suggest this, but that Tomura is someone who is neglected of treatment.

Warning: Bipolar disorder as title suggests (Tomura's symptoms relate to type 1 more), talks of depression, mania, psychosis, suicidality, etc, angst?

Tomura has never been given a formal diagnosis and likely has no clue that he has bipolar disorder himself. He doesn't know much about it, either, other then the stereotype that people with general mood swings are "so bipolar."

The doctor knows, AFO does too, but for them, they see it as more ammo for their arsenal to make sure Tomura's life is nothing but agony. He's never been treated with medications or therapy. Nothing.

Because he isn't medicated, his episodes are pretty strong. His manic episodes sort of blend in with his everyday behavior to a lot of people.

It's during this time that he finds himself planning out grand operations against the heroes. Some of his ideas seem unrealistic and not well thought out. They're more just ideas thrown around, and he jumps to gather people and means to carry out his goal before actually having a calculated plan.

He's up all night doing this. But if he's not, he's likely gaming. He huddles up in his room with multiple cans of energy drinks (as if he didn't already have way too much energy).

(semi-canon) will text his comrades at godforsaken hours either asking, demanding, or just rambling about stuff. If he gets an answer, the recipient often finds themself confused because Tomura just talks and talks and talks, and when he's in the heat of some plan or project he doesn't really stop to compose his sentences or even take a damn breath.

He impulsively buys things, like copious amounts of in-game purchases. Or DoorDash. If he's feeling reeeaaal bold he'll go for a whole-ass gaming console if he can, even if his current one is perfectly fine. Or assembling as many thugs as he can and feeling generous enough to overpay them when they definitely don't need the amount of money he's giving them.

You can see how when AFO was arrested, his lifestyle shifted in this regard.

Tomura is already an irritable guy, and so his mania can make it worse. He gets very overstimulated with all of his sensations that little things, like accidentally stubbing his toe, can make him mad as fuck for a good thirty minutes.

He also gets very paranoid about others. When he talks to people, he's already convinced that they are tricking him somehow and he'll read every cue he can to confirm it, even if the proof isn't even there.

Even when he's out in public and by himself, he thinks everyone is mocking, judging, and looking at him. That also comes with being the most wanted villain around, but that's beside the point.

When something finally goes his way, he is HAPPY. Sometimes the League will catch Tomura smiling his face off for no apparent reason (odd for him), and will ask what's up, only for Tomura to CACKLE back with, "ehehAHAH NOTHING!! THAT's just IT!"

They look at each other like, but just let him go about his day. They'll later hear him giggling to himself in his room, and sometimes talking to himself. He'll deny and just tell them he was on chat (his devices are not open and he is standing in the middle of his room).

Because he's not medicated, his mania can trickle into psychotic symptoms. Especially if he's going through more stress than typical. He hears voices that tell him mean things. Sometimes they're the voices of his dead family.

And because he doesn't sleep much, he sees detailed shadows and things moving that aren't. It disturbs him, but he accepts it and tries to just push on. But sometimes if he hears voices more than he'd like, he gets sad and has to grip his head and whisper "shut up shut up shut up" to negate them.

He's delusional, too. AFO's grooming and constant monitoring of his whole life have definitely emphasized his distrust of everything around him. Sometimes he'll think that the people he's gaming with online are secret hero spies trying to get him to reveal himself. He also has a fear that someone is watching him in every location, and he'll think that even the silliest things are cameras or microphones, or that those around him are also spies. Later on, it becomes paranoia that his master is everywhere.

Then comes the doom of depression

For Tomura, he's technically always depressed. But when he goes into a depressive episode, he's pretty lifeless.

He's complacent about his goals. Sometimes he'll get a tiny idea that makes his brain go !, but then he thinks of all the planning behind it and immediately slouches down on any nearby furniture

He'll lay in bed for a long period of time doing nothing. Sometimes he'll try to play a game on his phone but he gets bored quick.

Tends to eat more during this time because it's the only joy he can get. And he gets bored. He is SO BORED

Anhedonia is a bitch

His brain dwells and rambles, yet his thoughts don't make sense to him? He's constantly thinking about how fucked up his life is, how better other villains are, and how much he hates All Might and heroes altogether. He tells himself that if it wasn't for all of that he wouldn't feel this way (relating to the depressive episode).

It overwhelms him and he tries to sleep it off, but he's somehow so depressed that he's UNCOMFORTABLE. His itching gets bad.

He is very suicidal during this time and hurts himself to try and subside it. If you asked him his reason for living, he'd tell you "to see this world crumble." But he's too busy crumbling in his bed.

Psychotic symptoms can occur during his depression, too. Especially if he hasn't slept.

His lack of medication usually causes him to swap back to mania somewhat soon (2 months or so). He definitely has rapid cycles.

Because his condition isn't managed, his brain is sort of in an in-an-out stance when it comes to his literal sanity. He has moments where he can definitely be level-headed (he gets rrly confident when he notices it) but when his anger and stress fuel him more than usual, he spirals and quite literally sees red. Sometimes he can't even tell if he's dreaming or not. Often mistakes the date and day of the week.

I might write a fic of the reader comforting bipolar tomura. I don't think I've ever seen a fic like that for any character.

i hnstly thought id make a solo post dt to each one of these, but i dont think ill ever come around to do that so fuck it heres every ofa au i came up on a whim on twitter (though im pretty sure one of these alrdy exists but whatever)

anyways soo first one is just . like. a middle school au. or highschool. im not sure which one is better lol. basically its just a roles thing: afo is the student council president (that pretty much has his school wrapped around his finger), yoichi is just some student (that gets into fights with bullies) and kudou is a deliquent (that became one just cus of afo) i wanted to expand this more but im procrastinating so nvm

2nd one is well, again, an au i made out of the whim. i just entertained tbe idea of (forced) villain yoichi and rolled with it and only drew it just so i can design yoichi ahsjskg ... and kudoichi there is well . ig a hero/villain pair? and you could say theyre just unfortunate people forced to play a role (also ignore the quality in that part i rushss to draw it haha)

now last one, self explanatory? mama shigaraki lives, afo and yoichi shared their nutrients and their quirk ( where it functions as afo cant give away the quirks he attain, only yoichi could((and only yoichi can receive the quirks his brother takes)) he also cant take the quirks from the user without consent. yoichi is the same but vice versa, but he himself also couldnt give away quirks unless the user consents 👐) everything is semi-normal for the most part. also. first pic is kinda outdated.some of it anyways....... also also i tried my best to make sure afo and yoichi rlly do look like twins despite the hair difference

MHA 409 Review — The Extra and the Pebble

Ch 409 is a really interesting continuation of the action in 405-406, prior to the AFO backstory in 407-408. These few panels of Yoichi and AFO in the OFA-AFO mind palace (406 on the right; 409 on the left) tell us a LOT about AFO and how he’s been affected by Katsuki.

I’m not even sure what’s left of AFO. Is he fully baby-fied now? Is he down on the ground like Toya and Himiko? Throughout the chapter, it looked like AFO was gaining a pupil in his right eye, which is the one Katsuki doesn’t have at the moment. Is this just clever art mirroring or hinting at AFO’s next move????

Unlike 407-408, this chapter focuses on Katsuki. I don’t think it tells us something we didn’t already know — Katsuki was born to a couple with a happy, functional marriage who loved and wanted him. He has a strong and versatile quirk. He’s powerful, smart, and strategic. And yet, at the start of the story all those advantages combined made him more of a brat than a hero. But it’s different now. The final page really shows how Katsuki has connected it all. See how the lines of his explosion frame the rest of the page? How the left line points directly to his dialogue about not being alone? And below Katsuki are all the influences that have supported him — All Might, his parents, and Yoichi/OFA (via Izuku).

Katsuki is going all out at the end, breaking his right arm (again) but able to pull off one last huge blast due to the brace All Might gave him (like Izuku using Melissa’s gauntlets in Two Heroes). If his gambit of dropping sweat beads in AFO’s mouth didn’t pay off, he would have delivered the blast sooner, but luckily his ploy worked.

FWIW, Katsuki dropped the beads in AFO’s mouth right when AFO was shouting about Kudou and Katsuki said his name was Kacchan, because Kacchan is a clever kid.

Katsuki is also acknowledging directly that he could not have soloed AFO. Even though he’s awesome, there’s a limit to what he (or ANY one person, including All Might) could do alone. Seeing as Yoichi’s message to Izuku has always been, “You are not alone,” it further emphasizes how Katsuki has grown to adopt the spirit of OFA. The kid who thought needing help was a sign of weakness, and who thought Izuku holding out a hand was mocking him, now understands the importance of accepting that hand. Standing on the shoulders of giants helps one see further. :)

Moreover, Katsuki is now motivated by helping Izuku and getting out of Izuku’s way. Izuku isnt the pebble in Katsuki’s path — Katsuki is the one in the way of Izuku. Back when 362 dropped, I wrote about how Katsuki’s death was very Buddhist in that he had to lose all his physical attachments (including his body and quirk) to achieve a spiritual awakening. It seems like that worked, and now Katsuki is genuinely, truly appreciating all the gifts he has, as well as his role as a piece of something bigger. He’s no longer demanding that others get out of his way, but rather thinking about when HE has to move for someone else. The kid who pathologically couldn’t walk behind someone else is now able to get out of his own way AND clear the path for others.

This fits the pattern we’ve seen numerous times in the final arc with a hero accepting a villain’s taunt in order to defeat them. Of course Katsuki takes a different tactic than, say, Shoto (“A half-baked dummy, that’s me”). Katsuki yells he’s the final boss, he’s not a filler character, etc. But the point is the same. Katsuki is accepting he has one quirk; he’s NOT physically bound to the OFA-AFO quirk; he IS a pebble compared to AFO. His role IS to support Izuku….and it takes absolutely nothing away from him whatsoever. Katsuki has his stupid awesome quirk, his intelligence, his strength, his commitment, and people who care about him. He can play his part to the best of his ability and deliver a big win for the heroes.

(This is so long, but it almost wraps up my thoughts on the most recent chapter. You've been warned. This is also in no way trying to justify AFO's current actions, I'm just over-analyzing the demon baby's childhood and how that turned into the adult demon we see today :>)

Something else I found interesting about the leaks. Baby AFO is killing people, I'm assuming for reasons of survival, either from those people being threats or they have something he needs.

But something that's really been on my mind lately is a child's perspective on death.

Children learn to love and fear different concepts by parental figures in their life, or adults in general really. It's like a pack complex, they see others react a certain way to their environment and learn how to react as a result. Children really learn how to human from other adults, which deeply shapes their view of themselves and the world around them.

But another concept that is taught to children is the concept of death... Children learn that mortality exists, and that it is something to be afraid of... By adults...

But two orphans that raised themselves in an apocalyptical society, from what we can tell from birth, they didn't have adults around to teach them anything, let alone that people do die and that it's a bad thing. At least they didn't have that during some of their most pivotal developmental years.

We see AFO as a monster, a child born evil, but for 1. We see this from a what could be considered the most unreliable narrator. 2. We don't see how he started killing, what made him start? The scenes we've seen thus far could be the first murders, but do we have evidence that it really was.

Baby Afo is so young at this point that his idea of death is a very limited one. Normally, we really start to process death and what it truly means at around 10, maybe. But he's very young here. It's possible he was attacked and so he attacked until the threat stopped moving. He was so young he may not have ever truly understood the gravity of what he had done until he grew older and was desensitized to it. Or maybe he was a hungry child with his feeble brother, who didn't know how to get any food. He wasn't given any help from the adults, possibly even paralleling Tenko. But he saw adults attacking other adults and getting food as a result. So, he followed their lead, like a child would mimic a parent, and he got a reward for him and his brother, food. Children have a large pleasure/pain complex, if their needs aren't met, they are often impatient until they receive what they want or need and can't emotionally regulate like adults can (another thing taught to them by adults). He doesn't understand that he is killing these people, he just knows he needs to stop them as a threat (either to protect him and his brother or feed him and his brother,) make sure they stop moving so they can't hurt him. It's also possible he wants to steal their quirks, something flashy, another part of the reward complex in his brain and his barely contained kleptomania.) And mind you, much of this is talking about normal human children... Not children with meta-abilities which are looking more like parasitic diseases with each new update. (Diseases that control the host and deeply influences their actions, mannerisms, and behavior. Also, something I will probably go on another rant about, let's be honest.)

Another interesting thing is this is from AFO's point of view. And all I've been seeing is that "AFO was born evil," or commenting on how horrifying AFO looked like as a child.

If this is how All for One sees himself... Well, that makes sense why he's such a damn bastard today. Not even as an infant did, he give himself the grace of looking like a normal child. We, the viewer is meant to see him as evil from birth, because that is how AFO sees himself. It's so interesting because one could even argue that AFO isn't happy, doesn't view himself as someone who has a heart or compassion. It's like because the villain in the comic book reminded him of himself, he's modeled himself to be like the villain, someone without care, someone who doesn't love. With Yoichi's death, we get a panel of the original shock, the remorse, and that progresses to the blank, empty, look in his eyes with tears falling down his face. He's always seen himself as the villain and refuses to recognize that he is indeed human. Which obviously from a DFO perspective makes sense in a truly heartbreaking way.

But I just can't get over how he views himself, it's creepy, unsettling, almost like he's afraid of himself. Like he views himself in the way his own victims view him. But someone who I always imagined views himself like a god, who's always in the right (he does believe he's always right,) I was expecting more emphasis on everything he did for his brother, the nicer clothes, he didn't look malnourished while AFO did, things like that. Or maybe a normal looking child (or hell even an unrealistically majestic child, or something.) the parts of himself that showed power, without the unexplained murder we got. I was expecting an attempt to prove how he was in the right, how he was trying to protect his brother. Emphasize the anger he still feels at losing him. But no, from what I can tell it's mainly the evil things he's done, with a small glimpse of them reading together. It lacks the depth, like he wants to appear flat instead of completely multidimensional. And honestly, that's IF he's being honest, which in and of itself is unlikely. But with how he's illustrated himself, you can look at it two ways, it's even more likely that he'd start a family, or it's less likely, because he was born evil and all he's cares about is possessing OFA/his bother. His backstory just gives me the vibe that he WANTS you to believe the second. Like he WANTS you to believe he's not human, and could never have a son, or at the least never care for any child he'd have.

He's trying too hard to prove how evil he is, how almost incapable of care or remorse he is. I'm skeptical.

But honestly, I think if this little story of his is true then... I think he should be locked in a museum. Looking at who he is, how he views himself and the world, illustrates the Dawn of Quirks in a way no Hero History book could. He was raised by a society that hated him for his quirk, honestly like most villains in BNHA.

I've decided to do the thing where I put a poll up of my wips and write however many sentences that wip gets. BUT! These wips aren't even published yet. I like to put something up then come back to it later so I can at least take the pressure off myself. Because the pressure of getting a first chapter out makes it difficult to write.

Jult - Inspired by a conversation me and my sister had in a shoe store. We were wondering if Best Jeanist ever put a J at the front of words (ex: Jhe Jaghetti jas jood) and if he owned jean themed items like a Jable and Jhair. Then I learned there was a jult around him and thought "hey, what if he had a Jult in canon universe?" which is what happened. Although, this one is a one-shot.

Snippet: The parents would leave the hospital as confident and reassured as new parents could be, doing their best to make sure their child grew up happy and healthy. His blond hair grew out and took on a shine along with his oddly long lashes, and his green eyes always sparkling, much like his mother’s. Yet, despite his healthy look and appetite, there was something worrying about him.

He only liked denim.

Shigaraki - Frankenstein AU! Where AFO brings Yoichi back to life, Frankenstein style. And what luck, Yoichi appears to have lost his memories, leaving him with the opportunity to create the perfect little brother. When Second and Third find out, they try and get his memories back. But there's something that all four of them don't know. That's. Not. Yoichi.

Snippet: It was not a dark day when Yoichi died. It was sunny and there was not a cloud in the sky, though they couldn’t tell as they ran through the sewers like frightened rats. Hearts pounding in their ears, terror palpable in the air.

Ice King AU - The AU where everyone was born earlier into the Age of the Dawn of Quirks. Second and Third are brainwashed and work for AFO while Yoichi has become unrecognizable to everyone ever since putting on the quirked crown that gave him the ice powers. Meanwhile, Izuku and Katsuki are unaware of his tragic backstory and beat him up everytime he kidnaps a hero.

Snippet: At twelve years old, Izuku Midoriya should have been in middle school cutting open a dead frog. Instead, he was battling against a very large, very alive frog with acid spit.

Pokemon AU - Instead of quirks, they get pokemon. Izuku is still bullied for having an eevee that can't evolve. AFO and Garaki do all sorts of unethical experiments on pokemon. And it's really annoying how I can't type an accented "e" on my computer for some reason.

Snippet: Izuku Midoriya was 9 years old when he learned that not all Pokémon were treated equally.

Death Tree - Are you in the market for a fic with lesbian duoholders? Another Victorian era AU, but this time Yoichi and Second are both girls. I thought about how easily AFO's possessiveness over Yoichi would translate over to the attitudes toward women. He'd still have to disguise how deep it goes, but even if he slips up every once in a while, no one would suspect anything. The actual plot is Yone falls in love with the daughter of the stable manager, and they eventually start a secret relationship. She also makes some friends in the small town that she lives near and is pretty happy. Then her friends start dying. Looks like they're going to regret not paying more attention to AFOs behavior.

Snippet: Yone was thirteen years old the first time she met the girl. Her wild hair was a flame in the summer sun, freckles scattered across her cheeks in a way that was reminiscent of the stars in the sky and calculating ruby eyes. She couldn’t help her staring, not used to seeing someone display such blemishes so freely.

I honestly wish coercion never became a murky part of the todofam plot because the todofam fandom is worse than ever to navigate. With what we’re stuck with now, I’m willing to bet neither rei nor endeavor saw what happened as s/a and it will hit like a ton of bricks when they both see their separate therapists that yes this is a thing even if both parties were unaware at the time. I don’t even know if hori knows it. Like he obviously knows coercion is bad, but is he aware that by rei not wanting to for natsuo and shouto that it would technically count as s/a? For me such a topic is a step too far to enjoy todofam anymore and it’s sad because they were my favorite part of the manga. Just one of multiple disappointments in the final act.

Tbh, I'm not sure I understand well your ask. The element of coercion is not a last-minute addition - it has been the basic feature of Enji's and Rei's marriage, ever since we first heard of it back in Ch 31:

We did not know the specific details, but the underlying premise was established - the marriage was an unethical transaction - money for Rei's quirk with the understanding that children would be created until Endeavor got the tool he wanted for his own purpose.

The tension around Shouto's existence was also established already back then. How his resemblance to Enji is Rei's trigger...

... or how Shouto perceived his very existence to be a breaking point for his mother.

Children are perceptive this way. Just like Touya understood that he was being replaced, Shouto understood that his birth was a breaking point for Rei and in fact the whole family. The coercion, the sad truth that Rei did not want to give birth to Shouto is written between the lines already back then.

It makes the whole drama between Rei and Shouto that much more believable. If Rei breaks not "just" from being hit by Enji and being helpless to protect her child, but because there is a much deeper violation at play. Rei having to bear Shouto (and Natsuo) as part of a dirty transaction, something she even agreed to, the feelings of repulsion, then the feelings of guilt because Rei is fundamentally a good person who understands that the children are faultless in this situation.

Rei's limp pose as she can't bear to embrace Shouto as he clings to her...

... only then to touch him only on the right side.

Rei is trying her best, but the way she leashes out against Shouto makes more sense with this whole unwanted birth aspect added to the picture.

Just as Shouto sensing his mother's mixed feelings towards him make it believable why he would not try to see her for a decade, despite we know how much he loves his mother and how much he misses her. He believes that even looking at him is triggering for Rei.

And yes, it's a very dark origin, but it was never portrayed as anything else. The fact that Rei and Shouto are able to forge a positive relationship after all that is all the more precious. I'm sure Rei already had plenty of therapy (she spent 10 years in a mental hospital) and has faced most of her guilt, and Shouto reconnecting with her was the last push she needed to get back on her feet.

Shouto and Rei released each other from their respective guilts - so they could move forward and focus on recovery. Because while I'm sure Rei was coerced into having another baby, I'm also certain that she still loves him and is happy about his existence now.

As for Enji - I think he's definitely aware by now how screwed up the entire premise of his family was. Up until now he kept moving from crisis to crisis, having his hero work as an outlet for his feelings of guilt (like we saw in both the Nomu and AFO fights). But I think if he stops because he chooses or is forced to retire, all that crushing guilt will hit him (I hope).

I'm honestly more worried about Shouto who is still carrying the burden of his birth being a breaking point for the entire family, and what pushed Touya over the edge. Right now he's got a solid enough support structure at UA to deal with it, but I could definitely see him suffer from depression later in life.

What are your thoughts on an AU where Kudou never came for Yoichi and eventually Yoichi gives into Afo?

Not exactly a villain AU, but Yoichi’s hope in his brother being kind just dies down over the years and his hopeful spirit dies too

Now this one I was holding off on answering until I FINALLY was done with the holidays. Because OH BOY!!! I HAVE IDEAS~! :DDD

Since you aren't looking for a Villain AU but rather Yoichi gives in let us go from there. *cracks knuckles*

Where Hope goes to Die:

In this AU, AFO finds out the rebels are trying to break in where Yoichi is and promptly kills them. So Yoichi never meets the heroes nor did he even know rebels were about to come in. It did, however, make AFO reconsider leaving his brother in some vault where he can't see him. Though also his brother still hasn't submitted either and stopped so he basically decides to just keep a closer eye on him.

Days turn into weeks, and weeks turn into months. Yoichi is going insane inside the vault screaming, crying and cursing his brother. Every time he comes yet also becoming desperate whenever his brother leaves him. Being force fed and 'cared' for against his will whenever he tries to starve or kill himself. Until eventually he just- breaks.

He doesn't respond, he doesn't fight, he can't even bring himself to cry anymore even when his brother manhandles him. Because he realized there were no heroes coming to save him. And that he was completely alone, his brother refuses to let him out as long as he fights so he just... Stops trying.

This is more or less good enough for All for One. It a bit odd but he allows him out on the criteria that if still doesn't want to do 'villainy' with him then he can at least be safe and look pretty more or less. Hence since Yoichi in pretty HORRID conditions by this point from isolation/Vault time he sets him up in a nice mansion/home much better then that vault. All for One has his personal doctor take care of him since does note he isn't looking too well.

Cue learning that Yoichi's life is in terrible condition despite AFO attempt to care for him personally. This is also when they discover he did have a quirk similar to AFO. But it basically useless, weird discovery but whatever. He has the doctor find a way to give Yoichi more quirks safely so can live just as long and 'happily' as he is despite his poor health.

Basically Yoichi is a husk of a person and probably a bit on edge. He lives like a ghost in this mansion with quirks that keep him alive but he doesn't really 'talk' to his brother anymore. And All for One certainly does try but he barely responds, but at least he is at his side so AFO tolerates it.

So how is Yoichi feeling? He basically wants to die, his brother is still doing evil and has forced quirks on him to keep him alive. Attempts to leave are given with threats of returning to the vault or even morbid jokes of a quirk to make sure they are one if wants to fight. He isn't sure if they are jokes or his brother truly means it.

He's basically given up on trying to reform his older brother. His brother has 'tested' this resolve more then a few time. Even bringing victims to his home to 'negotiate' just to see if Yoichi won't try to warn them. Though AFO regrets this when Yoichi upon seeing this basically runs to grab a knife, at first thinking was trying to kill him which he planned to laugh about, only for Yoichi to try and kill himself in front of everyone-

This AU is basically a WHUMP and grimdark fate for Yoichi. As every reminder of his brother evil and his own failure to 'reform' him just cements more his misery. While AFO is confused as hell when thought everything was fine only for Yoichi attempt to end himself. Leading to a strong struggle as AFO wants him to live while Yoichi literally has no hope in the future anymore thus wishes to end it all. There is no happy ending as it a struggle between them.

Extra musing:

Well- It could be worse. AFO can bring in a nephew for his brother to guilt Yoichi in staying as out of spite gives the nephew the happiest life ever. While Yoichi is horrified watching AFO allowing his son to be a hero and everything. While AFO looks at him like, see? I can be nice~

But Yoichi knows... The moment the nephew no longer plays nice he will end up here too. Though maybe seeing Izuku actually loving his dad but also not ok might inspire hope once more. I could leave it on a depressing note, but even if hope dies it can always come back~

Also spoilers for second and third ofa users names! And of the Shigaraki brother’s back story! I’m not sure if you caught up, but there’s not really any other spoilers here besides that.

This is how I think the au would go:

The Shigaraki twins started out with nothing, even lived on the streets. Hisashi was stronger so he was always the one to protect Yoichi and provide for both of them. Yoichi wanted to earn money to help out his brother who always looked out for them. He had always been talented and his looks attracted movie scouts and he jumped on the opportunity! His first role was successful, but being inexperienced, the brothers were cheated out of the money. His brother didn’t like all the talent agents taking advantage of him, so to protect his little brother, Hisashi took over as Yoichi’s manager. However, he sorta became what he wanted to protect Yoichi from. Oops. Hisashi became super controlling, not letting his little brother have any freedom outside of acting, interviews, modeling, and even pushed him to enter a music career, which was successful too. Hisashi worked in the background while Yoichi was the face of their success. Yoichi went along with everything because he wanted to make Hisashi happy, but the stress was getting to him.

One night, Yoichi was late to start a show, a security guard checked his trailer, only to find Yoichi crying. Yoichi asks if he’s going to tell his brother, but Kudou doesn’t really care about his boss atm and just wants to make Yoichi feel better. They talk for a bit and Kudou decides that Yoichi just needs a bit of freedom to feel better so they ditch the concert.

Yoichi has fun and is thrilled to be breaking his brother’s strict rules, even though it’s just an evening stroll with a stranger—soon to be friend. Eventually he returns because he doesn’t want to let his fans down. He starts late but it goes well.

After that they keep in touch and Kudou encourages him to set boundaries with Hisashi—that leads to a lot of fights between the brothers and Hisashi hates Kudou for it.

Yoichi breaks out of his professional relationship with his brother, which also results in a fight between the brothers.

Yoichi likes acting still so he starts to audition for small local theatre productions and independent films. He meets third—Bruce, a fellow actor and Yoichi is having fun again with his career.

Happy ending, Hisashi eventually comes around and lets his brother have agency and freedom and they make up.

Tenya being the guy who buys all the baby books so he can help with Teddy. Who seriously questions Tsu or anyone in the room about their siblings. Tenya who proudly shows picture after picture after picture and videos of Teddy changing his hair or eyes or whatever. (Izuku being the nicest of the class about it but even he debates about shoving him out a window once it’s been five minutes)

Tenya sitting through classes about PTSD for his soulmate. Learning how to cook for him. Learning about magic and deciding: alright then imma learn everything.

Harry who will tear apart AFO for Tenya so no more tears come. Who has Hizashi by his side (Hizashi with a broken mark who sobs when being near Kurogiri makes it whole again) trying to help.

Harry and Tenya getting to know each other. Long walks in the park. Ice cream dates. Both playing with Teddy.

(Harry who whispers to Izuku whom had a mark that shone when Shigaraki was around of a girl who’d had a diary and her mark was to bright. Who had to move on)

… this got away from me

Tenya who cries when Teddy changes his hair to dark blue rather than its normal cotton candy blue for the first time. Who offers to babysit so Harry can get some much needed rest when Hizashi is out on patrol and Harry can’t let his guard down because that would leave Teddy unprotected. Who took a page out of Izuku’s book and carries around a notebook or notebooks where he jots down information of psychology or child rearing whenever he can. Who pushes himself even harder in his training to make sure Harry isn’t put in a place that will hurt him so badly again. who swears to be the hero so Harry is free to live a life of comfort and safety like he has never been able to.

Tenya who puts two and two together and asks Harry if his quirk isn’t a quirk and comforts him through the following panic attack. Who proves each and every day that he doesn’t see Harry’s magic as something other or freakish. Who further proves, even after he learns about Harry’s fame and the blood on his hands to get it, that he still sees Just Harry.

Harry who holds Tenya as he shatters in the hallway of a hospital, his magic making the lights flicker as he tries to breathe through the rage that someone hurt one of his people. That by hurting them he also hurt Tenya. Harry who is stopped at the door by an all too knowing Hizashi who makes him sit and think it through (he wasn’t alone anymore. Didn’t have to run half cocked to certain doom. He had people, adults, who would listen to him, help him, and would watch his back.) Harry who has to stop Hizashi in turn when they put two and two together for why their mark shines around Kurogiri and promises them with a voice steady as stone that the man who did this to them, to their soulmate, will pay. Who has the bearing of a general as he swears that no one else will be taken by that monster.

(Who curses that promise even as he apparates into what looks like an active war zone in time to face off with a monster to save Tenya and his friends. Twice.)

The slow healing and building of trust in quiet moments that neither Harry nor Tenya allowed themselves to believe they would have.

(Izuku who learns through Harry’s sad smile and all too knowing eyes that soulmates aren’t always good for you and sometimes it is better to let go and look for happiness elsewhere. That learns that destiny and fate and years long wars set on their shoulders aren’t something they have to bow to. That they can forge their own path even if it’s not the one that was expected of them even if it hurts.

Izuku who mourns for a boy they never met and vows to fight in his name even if he’s fighting against the man he became.)

Shigaraki has been talking with y/n for over two weeks and they already had planned where they would go to have lunch. It actually took that long to organised because of Tomura's "busy schedule" (which meant finding a day where AFO or the league wouldn't need him) and also because he needed to make sure the place they picked was safe (but she didn't have to know any of that)

All this nights spent together talking and playing games, made him believed that maybe there was a chance to be loved and happy in this world. And he liked the person he became around her, made him feel a little more human and not a complete "monster", like everybody thought.

However, he was scared shirtless of her reaction when she'd put the pieces together and realised who he really was and what he was aiming to achieve. But Tomura wished that when it happens, she'll understand him and stays by his side.

The day of their "date", as he liked to call it, was around the corner and so was his anxiety. What if he was too much of a freak for her? What if she saw him at daylight and thought he was ugly (which he believed he was)? How would he talked to a woman when all his life he was rejected or feared by them? So many questions that didn't let him sleep at night. That and the constant thoughts of her soft skin and how good it felt to have her lips on his cheek. He dreamed about having her in front of him and being able to kiss and caress her body.

He didn't have anybody to share his thoughts and opinions about this and he knew he couldn't ask his master; he would say that she was a "distraction" and would try to hurt her. That's why he reminded calmed and did his own research by watching shitty romantic movies and series.

He was in the middle of "Notting Hill" when a new notification arrived, it was a message from y/n!

Cute girl: Hi Tomura! Can't wait to see you tomorrow ❤️

Cute girl: Oh and Sombra also says hi!

His heartbeat increased a lot every time she sent him a text or call. Tomura really enjoyed talking to her; she always had something interesting and funny to say and make his day better. He's excited to see y/n tomorrow! And his mind drifts to what cute outfit would she use and wonders if he should asked her what colours was she going to wear in order to match with hers but realised it might be a little creepy as they haven't known each other for that long.

Suddenly he felt into the realisation that he hadn't thought about an outfit yet and it made him panicked. Running to his closest and looking for something suitable to wear. He couldn't hide his face behind "father" but he also couldn't wear another hoodie so his long dilema started. It took him almost two hours to find something that made him look decent enough and then, he heard another notification.

Cute girl: Hey, it's everything alright?

Cute girl: If you don't feel like going out, it's ok! You don't have to

Oh god no! He had forgotten to respond. Why was he such an idiot? Now she thought he didn't want to come! As usual, he started to scratch his neck furiously till it bleed. Maybe he was overthinking this too much and forgot that he needed to enjoy

Him: Hi y/n!

Him: I'm sorry! I didn't mean to left you on read! I remembered that I didn't have anything planned to wear and I started looking for something and lost track of time

Him: I'm really excited to see you tomorrow

Him: hope u haven't changed your mind about our date

Cute girl: Oh, don't worry! I just thought you didn't want to come and, if I'm being honest, I was kinda sad 🥺🙈

Tomura was so happy that she seemed to be excited to see him and what was even better was that she didn't corrected him when he said it was "date" so it meant she wanted to date him too! At least, he hoped it meant that

Tomura arrived half an hour earlier just in case. He didn't want to spoil anything. Today must be perfect! He was waiting on a bench at the park near the restaurant when she appeared. Her h/c hair was down, she had very little make up (as much as he could tell) that made her face lighted up even more and she was wearing a black long sleeve dress with a big scarf that hide part of her face but he could still see the blush on her nose and cheeks. His eyes widened as he took in the sight of her. She looked so adorable and sexy at the same time! How was that even possible?!

When she finally spotted him, she hurried to where he was and gave him a big hug that last more than it should for two people who didn't know each other that well. Tomura stood still while being embraced by her. The last time he was held like this, he ended up decaying his whole family so it made him worried. He wasn't sure if he should reciprocate the gesture so he opted for leaning closer in order to smelt her sweet perfume; she smelt like vanilla and happiness. He wished he smell good enough for her as he took three showers to get rid of blood's smell (he had happened to come across some heroes yesterday and things had scaled quickly)

"It's so nice to see you, Tomura! Thanks for coming" She said while distancing herself from him and he was invaded by sadness as he lost the comfort her embrace provided him.

Then, Y/n looked at him up and down and said "You do look good, gamer boy" and winked at him. At that moment, Shigaraki lost the hability to speak as he was too shocked by her statement. Never in his whole life he'd had someone telling him such a thing and not being joking. Did she truly think he "looked good"? If it wasn't for her innocent smile and those doe eyes, he would've thought it was a joke.

"T-Thanks... You look really pretty" "Thank youuuu! How about we go to the restaurant? I'm starving hahaha" She laughed and Tomura seriously believed it was the greatest melody he's ever heard. As he nodded, she grabbed his arm and pulled from him saying "Let's go then!"

They sat across each other on the floor at a very traditional Japanese restaurant. She did most of the talking and he was glad about it. First of all because he wanted to know everything about her and secondly, cause he still couldn't grasped the fact that he was on a date with the most beautiful woman to ever exist on earth. When food arrived, she went to grab a napkin for both but so was Tomura and their hands touched making her blush adorably and he couldn't help but stared. She looked at him, then to their hands and frowned. He paralysed. Was he staring too much? Did his hand disgusted her? Before he could kept on thinking, she took his hand into hers and said "I don't know what you did but you have to be more careful" as she healed his wounds while caressing them with so much tenderness that he had to suppressed the need to kiss her "There, you are all healed!"

She released his hand and gave him a look full of curiosity "What?" He asked as he was getting nervous of how intense her stare was "Oh nothing... I'm just wondering which is your quirk, if you have you, of course" Tomura remained silenced for a few seconds and contemplated the idea of telling her the truth. He didn't want to risk their possible future but he didn't want to lie to her either "I have a decay quirk. I turn into dust everything I touch with my hands. I know it's kinda creepy but..." y/n didn't let him finished as she said "Wow! That's such a powerful quirk you have! Nobody would mess with you, that's for sure hahaha"

Shigaraki was glad you took it well as their conversation kept going. She asked many questions about his personal life and also talked about the place she worked at. Apparently, she was a nurse that worked at a local hospital (her quirk being really convenient) and she lived alone with Sombra near the league's hideout

After a while, they left the restaurant but didn't want the date come to an end so they went to the park to chat some more as they walked. Tomura didn't want to overthinking about the fact that his hand interviewed with hers and she didn't complained; actually, she seemed really comfortable and he couldn't be happier.

A few minutes into walking, he realised she was shivering and so he copied the same gesture he saw many times in those romantic movies. He took his jacket off and put it in her shoulder while keeping his arm around her in order to kept her warm. Her face was blushing so hard that he thanked all the time he spent watching TV instead of preparing for the LOV next attack

She was so close that he could just leaned down a little bit and kissed her. They remained on their spot while looking at each other intensively and leaned forward for a very expected kiss. But luck was not with them as it started to rain and they had to run to a tree for shelter. When it stopped raining, he took her to her apartment but didn't leave before coming to the door and saying hi to Sombra.

"I had so much fun today! I was thinking that when you are not busy, maybe you could come to my house. I can cook something nice and we can play games... What do you say?" She looked at him waiting for his response but Tomura sword he was in another galaxy. Of course he wanted to spent more time with her and try what she prepared for him "I would love to. How about next Saturday?" "Yes! Then, see you on Saturday Tomura!" She came closer to kiss his cheek and whispered into his ear "I'm looking forward to see you again, gamer boy"

When Tomura arrived at his bedroom, he saw that he had a new notification; a message from you that made him lose the hability to breathe. (Literally *tomura e.x.e stopped working*)

Cute girl: Tomuraaaa, you left your jacket

Cute girl: I'll give it back on Saturday, ok?

Cute girl: Oh and for the record, I would've let you kiss me in the park 🙈

Anyone au! Shouto vanished (whether he faked his death, ran away, other) before AFO'S jailbreak and took up camp as Izuku's consistantly worried roommate. During the tartarus break in he was pacing a hole in the apartment because Izuku was late and didn't answer his phone. His worrying was not abated with the cat that followed his crush/roommate home

1 - Shouto ran away and he's still declared missing. Endeavor is looking for him. The reason why the entire country isn't looking for him is because the HPSC panicked and hush the whole thing down so only the police and top heroes are aware of it.

2 - Izuku gave Shouto a new identity, a new hair color, a place to live and a place in his organization so he can earn money. Shouto thanked him for it. That apartment is used as a storage room because he never left Izuku's place. Izuku like having a roommate (oh sweet irony) and Shouto likes not living with his father but he also wasn't ready to live completely alone. They are ridiculously domestic.

3 - Izuku's not inviting Shouto to the Tartarus escapade is so much worse here because Izuku really left in the morning and return late at night while leaving Shouto worried sick the whole day. Oh, the argument. Oh, the passive aggressiveness. AFO is spying on them and just very "???" because he expected to see Inko and instead, there is another teenager in his home???

4 - Izuku, bless his soul, wakes up in the morning to a supervillain who is cooking him breakfast and to a best friend who is paralyzed in his chair and glaring daggers at All for One.

"Morning, Midoriya. Do you remember this nutjob of a supervillain you told me about yesterday? Do you remember how happy you were that you would never have to see him again?"

"I get it, it's the last time I ditched you for a dangerous mission."

"You are both adorable. Now eat your breakfasts and tell me why a One for All holder broke into Tartarus."

5 - All for One never manages to move in but it's not for a lack of trying. Sadly, Izuku has a strict "Only one roommate allowed" policy and literally chases him out with a broom every time he even attemps to settle down in his mother's appartment.

"Why can Shouto live here and not me?"

"Because I actually like Shouto. "

"Does your mother know you're living with another boy?"

"I am pretty sure she would prefer me living with my best friend than with a strange supervillain that followed me from prison."

6 - In this AU, Dabi doesn't join Anyone because he almost got arrested but because he learned about Shouto being missing, put a request (for Fuyumi's sake) and Shouto knocked at his door, curious about who was asking about him.

7 - AFO and Shouto actually get along more than you would imagine. Half of the time, Shouto is the one to open the door (once AFO is finished using his unlocking quirk) for him and always gives him tea and snacks to be polite, no matter how many times Izuku tells him not to feed strays or they will never leave.

8 - When Izuku does something especially stupid, he got to deal with two people at home ripping him a new one so he sometimes just goes and lives at the Todoroki house. The Todorokis never suspect his presence.

9 - Endeavor gets a more vested interest in Anyone because a vigilante with ice and fire is spotted. This is a problem, because Endeavor is a far better detective than All Might.
