"Hey, Merciless," you said causing him to look towards you, "what's the answer for 75 again?" you asked. He laughed a little causing you to tilt your head to the right slightly out of confusion, "really Y/n?" he questioned "I'm pretty sure I told you just a few seconds ago-" he turned back to his paper before answering- "it's 48," he stated.

You leaned to your left to get a better look at his paper after realizing he wasn't on the same page as yourself, "what the-!?" you said loudly- "how are you so far ahead of me!?" you questioned the prince. He kept his eyes on the paper but you could see him smirking at your reaction, "this might be a hunch, but I think it might be because I'm not rereading the same paragraph 100 times before answering and still getting the answer wrong," he glanced over to your paper "you might want to recheck your answer for 72 again."

You let out a huff as you crossed your arms and looked away from the future king. He looked at you and rested his head in the palm of his hand, his smirk still present, he chuckled slightly before saying; "don't be dramatic Y/n," he said "may I remind you that's my job" he added. You huffed once again, "I'm not being dramatic, I'm simply just not talking to you right now because you're not my friend at the moment because you're rude," you said jokingly... But he didn't seem to see it that way... His face became dark and his smirk quickly wiped away by a frown.

The sound of the wooden chair hitting the floor echoed throughout the room, you looked towards him in confusion only for him to grab your chin and force you to look at him, his eyes were narrow as he spoke, "let me get one thing straight, Y/n, I don't mind losing 'friends', but you-" he let out a bone chilling chuckle- "you know too much, I don't care if that was a joke or not, let me make you aware of one thing; it's either friendship or death."

You quickly nodded, knowing he wasn't joking, he smiled "good-" he let go of your chin and walked behind you, his arms quickly wrapping around you in a hug- "I'm glad to see were on the same page dear," he said causing you to blush slightly as you repeated his last word in your head. "I'll be right back with some refreshments for us and when I get back I'll help you get caught up, okay?" he asked you which you quickly responded with another nod.

The prince walked to your right, your head following him, he gently grabbed your right hand and gave it a kiss before turning to leave the room, "I'll be right back dear, don't go anyware." he said as he closed the door behind him. You let out a breath you hadn't known you were holding, after a short few seconds you quickly made a note to yourself; "lesson learned, don't make those type of jokes around Merciless".

One of the benefits of making your school AU specifically a university AU is that there are so many ways to justify a particular character seemingly always being on campus which don't require them to be a student or teacher. "Middle-aged alumnus who hasn't taken a class in decades but still hits the student cafeteria every day because they live nearby and it's cheaper than fast food" isn't merely plausible, I literally knew that guy.

Seemed like most people were pretty into this, so I'm gonna make it a Patreon Goal. I'll probably do snippets like the first thing even if we fail, but if we get to $500 I'll try to make a real-ass comic issue for it. Hit $1000, and I'll make the baffling decision to try to make more than one.
