Okay well I'm bored so here's some of my osc headcanons
Sibling/Family
Pencil and Pen are siblings. Pencil is older by a few years, and Pen has trouble being apart from her for too long due to his RAD (Reactive Attachment Disorder). Marker is their cousin, he's younger than them both.
Tree, Leafy, Flower and Grassy (in that order) are siblings. They usually don't acknowledge this because the age gaps between them are so big, but Flower and Leafy have a propensity to favour each other since their ages are closer and they grew up together. Their ages in BFB are: Tree: 27, Leafy: 19, Flower: 18, Grassy: 6
Woody is a cousin. He's 17 in BFB.
Silver Spoon and Knife are brothers. They don't know that; Silver Spoon was raised in a rich neighbourhood by their mother, and Knife was "raised" by his "father" somewhere else.
Firey and Match are half-siblings. Firey is a little older than Match.
Firey Jr is the result of a failed Firey recovery. The former likes to think of them as brothers, but Firey would rather not think about the little one.
I also agree with the idea that Firey is a fireafy child, but I don't like fireafy so I choose to ignore it.
Paintbrush and Broomer are cousins, and they have lunch over their art every other weekend. Paintbrush is The Broomer Boys' album artist.
Gelatin and Lollipop are not related, but they think of each other as their sibling. Gelatin is younger than Lolly.
Fan and Paper are cousins.
Coiny and Nickel (bfb) are twins, but Nickel is younger.
If they were to be humans, Yin and Yang would be conjoined twins.
Book, Journal and Casey are siblings.
Fan and Fanny are siblings.
General
Black Hole has alexithymia. That means he has trouble identifying his emotions and often feels as if he doesn't have them.
Liy used to be an assassin; that's why she found so much joy and fulfilment in being part of Death PACT.
Because of his RAD, Pen has convinced himself he and Eraser are soulmates.
Two's birthday is 2/2/2002. They're the third-youngest Numeric Algebralien, the only younger being Four (4/12/2004) and X (7/28/2008).
Golf Ball made herself prosthetic arms, but she rarely uses them as she finds them to be "a hassle." Tennis Ball wears him, though, only because he feels an obligation to use GB's invention (since she made it for him, and it would be rude not to accept a gift!)
all the Electric contestants (Remote, TV, Robot Flower, Lightning and Fanny) are in an alliance. Price Tag and Profily are honorary members.
Coiny is dyslexic. That means he has trouble identifying words and letters and often spells and reads things incorrectly.
Bell loves Christmas music and often forces her teammates to go carolling with her every morning in December.
Blocky is great at physics (some of his pranks wouldn't work unless he carefully calculated them first, so he needs to be at least a little smart). One time, while helping nanny one of Rocky and Grassy's playdates, he noticed GB building a contraption where the support beams were slightly too small, and he helped her fix them. Much to the surprise of everyone involved, Blocky ended up being an asset to the scientists.
Firey speaks Spanish, and Taco is fluent in Mexican Spanish; they often can be heard muttering to each other about their respective Grrrs. Neither Leafy nor the rest of TLTDBGSI know this.
Pie wakes up at 3:14 AM every single day. Since Fanny is a light sleeper, it bothered her for the entire 6 months they had to room.
Fanny isn't much more grateful for having to bunk with Marker, either -- if it were up to her, he'd be sleeping in the yard.
Needle was the kid who tries way too hard in gym class but no one complained because WOW can she kick that ball
Like all metal and electric-based characters, Nickel can zap people by touching them, if the conditions are right. The only exceptions to this are Balloon and Goo since they are made of rubber-based materials.
Pillow smells like lavender
Match has autism
Genders
Leafy is bigender, she/it
Golf Ball is unlabelled (who has time for silly things like this when there's more important things (science) to be done??)

What is your honest opinion on the TMNT 2012 girls? In my opinion I don't understand a lot of the hate they get and they weren't even horrible or that badly writen. Yeah there were flaws in their writing but so did the other male characters have it as well.
I love all the girls! Some more than others. They all have their good qualities and I will admit even my favorites have flaws, but I blame the writer's more than the characters themselves.
This took awhile to put together and get my honest thoughts through, but here it is! Here’s my opinion of the TMNT 2012 Girls: April, Karai, Irma, Renet, Mona Lisa, Shinigami and Alopex!
April O'Neil
My opinion of April has changed throughout the years. As a kid first watching the series I felt indifferent towards her (I didn’t hate her but I also didn’t like her), then when the series was over I grew salty and began to hate her on rewatch. I became a toxic person because of my hatred for 2012 April, but lately I’ve grown to like her and appreciate her for the good things she’s done. I’m proud of her for how far she’s come in her ninja training. I think most of that change came from how ridiculously hated she is in the fandom when honestly she doesn’t deserve that hate. She's not the best or the perfect character, but some people make it their religion to hate on her and it's pathetic. I realized how toxic 2012 April haters are and I wanted to distance myself from that and I began to chat with 2012 April fans and things got better for me and my opinion of her change to something more positive.
My biggest problem with April still to this day is her relationship with Donnie and how it was handled. I disagree when people say she was manipulative towards Donnie and Casey cause honestly I can understand that she feels uncomfortable and awkward in this situation these boys put her in and is conflicted on how she should handle it, because in the end she is only a 16 year old girl and both Donnie and Casey are still her friends that she cares about. Now her kissing Donnie at the farmhouse, I was mad at her for, but that was a dumb decision on the writer's end. That choice made it come off that April is leading him on, but honestly Donnie is not perfect either and he is just as bad when is comes to this relationship, but this post isn't about Apritello, it’s about April. If you wanna know how I would've handle Donnie and April's romance, you can check it out HERE.
I fully blame the writer's on this one, but I feel April's plot with her family's connection to the Kraang, her mom missing, and her being a half Kraang herself was totally wasted and forgotten by the 3rd season. They were doing good build up to it but then I feel they completely dropped it and forgot about it by season 4 and onward. My guess is the writer's didn't know where to go on from there so they just ignored it for the rest of the series hoping we wouldn't notice. Her have psychic powers is cool but feels totally random and out of place at times. Yeah, Kraang Prime has psychic powers too but most of April's Kraang heritage plot often leaves more questions than answers. Another thing is I wish she was given more Kraang features as the series progressed. I see a lot of fans today draw her with Kraang like eyes or tentacles coming out of her head and neck and it looks really cool! Let my girl embrace her alien side!!
Karai
She used to be my all time favorite character in the series, her intro episode is what got me into fully watching the rest of the series. So I thank Karai for being the reason I really got into TMNT. I loved her, but after rewatching the show a few times, I would see her choices and just wonder “what the hell was she thinking?” She does so many dumb decisions as the series goes on and it begins frustrate me. She had two opportunities to go back to her real father and be a family with him and her turtle brothers, but instead she is blinded by her vendetta against Shredder and wants to overthrow his empire. Now that is a cool concept, Karai taking over the Foot, but when she returned in season 4 it just feels out of no where and I feel I skip a whole arc or season. I wish they gave her more time to grow and we see her come to this decision instead of it just happening. Side note, but I love how even before the reveal, Karai acts like a teasing older sister towards the Turtles. Her dynamic with Donnie, Raph and Mikey is rare to see but you can see that they care about her and she cares about them too and I love it.
Her snake form was very cool and had a creative design, though that whole arc of trying to find her and then her being brainwashed was pointless filler, such a waste of time. How she out of no where mastered her turning from human to snake at will was so random. The whole brainwashed Karai arc in general didn't need to happened!
I feel I'm obligated to talk about it, but Karai's biggest flaw, as well as it being TMNT 2012's worst quality, was her relationship with Leo. What were they thinking with that shit?! If they wanted Leo to have a crush on the enemy that's fine! That can be good drama, but why then throw in the twist that his crush is also his sister and continue to push a romance between them in the same episode when they are acknowledged as being family?!! Such wasted potential for them to just be enemies who respect one another that grows into a friendly rivalry that becomes two siblings looking out for one another, but still like to get on each other's nerves. Beside that mess, her and Leo do have a fun and good dynamic, when it isn't being ruined with forced uncomfortable romance. I also wanna add I like her dynamic with April and parallels between the two girls. Overall, I like Karai, but she could've been better.
Irma/Rook
I'm adding "Irma" to the list cause she counted as a character for a short while before the twist and she did technically come back in season 4. I liked Irma, she was funny, quirky, and her dynamic with April and Casey was fun to watch. I liked her banter with Casey, it always made me laugh. I'm honestly still disappointed that it was revealed Irma was not even Irma but was just a robot controlled by Kraang Sub Prime. All that hope to see Irma befriend the Turtles was destroy for me.
I am glad they were able to find a way to bring back Irma in the form of the Utrom Rook in season 4. She had little screen time but she always stuck out to me for some reason. Also, wasted potential of not having April meet Rook and for her to have a heart to heart with her about the friend lost because Rook looks like her old best friend.
I actually did a whole rewrite of how I would've handle the Irma is robot twist and still keep her as a character: LINK.
Renet Tilley
I love her so much! She's funny, entertaining and a total sweetheart. I love how she's a very bubbly and overall kind person but isn't afraid to punch someone right in the face. I like how she's perceived as dumb and naïve but is actually very smart and is usually the one saving the Turtle's from certain doom. I also love the little detail of her having a gap in her teeth. Really brings out the childish nature to her character. My favorite part about Renet is how much of a fangirl she is, literally representing the entire TMNT fandom. From first meeting them Renet has so much faith and trust in the Turtles because of what she's read about them in her history books. They are her heroes, she believes in them and knows in the end they'll save the day. The very concept of the Turtles befriend a time traveler from the future was another thing that was underused and could've open the door to so many cool new stories and adventures, but like many characters, she was underused and only came back when need, like for a Halloween special of all things. I'm really surprised Mikey or any of the Turtles didn’t mentioned her after the Earth was destroyed by the Black Hole Generation, remembering what she told them about how they've saved the world so many times.
I know some people find controversy with her romantic relationship with Mikey nowadays because of them both being from different time periods, but I still find their dynamic very sweet and entertaining to watch. As best friends or as romantic partners, you got to admit that they are fun to see together. She understands Mikey and never judges him for his weird antics/ideas and Mikey finds her quirkiness adoring and always makes sure she is safe.
A little nitpick I have is with her character design, mainly when we see her without her helmet. Her hair model design doesn't look good, like it looks like she's wearing a wig that they just slapped on her at the last minute. Which sucks cause in her concept sketches her hair looks very good, with having a more proper hair line, but since the braid crown is playing as her hairline in the 3D model it doesn't look good.
Also, technically Renet is the most powerful ally the Turtles have because of her weapon alone. Why does no one talk about that?? The Turtles are lucky that Renet is on their side.
Mona Lisa/Y'gythgba
SHE IS MY QUEEN AND I LOVE HER SO MUCH!! <3
Next to April, Mona Lisa also gets a lot of unnecessary hate, but I know why she gets hate. It those toxic whiney Raphael fangirls who can't accept the fact that he's fictional and is happy with an actual girlfriend so now they can't have him or ship him with their self insert Mary Sue OCs. A true Raphael fangirl, like myself, would be happy for Raph that he found someone who loves and respects him for who he is.
It's already obvious that Mona was another underused character in this series. I absolutely LOVE the space arc in season 4, but the concept of the Salamandrians, though cool, were very underused despite the Turtles fighting a Salamandiran before (Newtrailzer). If you ask me, Mona and Sal should've been more present during the space arc and they should've been there helping the Turtles when they were fighting the Triceratons on Earth at the end of the arc. This choice could've given the writer's the opening for Mona to start living on Earth sooner and join the Mighty Mutanimals during mid season 4 instead of saying she joined the Mutanimals in season 5 but never see her with them! (I'm still so mad that they got our hopes up that we'd see Mona interact/become friends with the Mutanimals only to find out that we will never see her again after When Worlds Collide) I have actually wrote a whole post on how I would've included Mona in more episodes, give her more time in the spotlight and her joining the Mutanimals sooner: LINK.
Mona being a lieutenant for the Salamandiran army already says a lot about who she is and what she has been through. You cannot tell me that this woman as killed people and has war trauma! Mona is an interesting character and her personality clashes well with Raph's, even before they became a couple, them butting heads shows what kind of person Mona is. She can be short tempered and stubborn like him and would often jump to conclusions, a fight first ask question later kind of gal. She loves to fight and is a very strong and skilled warrior. She is loyal to those she looks up to and respects like her commander and is a rule follower, but sometimes she loses control of herself and steps out of line, to which her commander has to hold her back. She cares deeply about the ones she's close to and especially shows how much she loves and cares for Raph. Most fans result her to just being a love interest, but she's still her own character and grows as a person from being with Raph. Honestly the push up scene was one of her highlights, not only for being hilarious and showing how in love she is with Raph, but also showing that she's more than a strict serious lieutenant. That scene reminds us that she's still a teenager and is acting her age, even she can't help but break her serious military persona once in a while.
I absolutely adore her and I'm so happy more fans today are growing to love her as much as I do! She's such a great character and its ashamed that we didn't get to see more of her in the show, but I'm happy with what I got.
Shinigami
My only criticism I have of her is that she is underused (I know I say that a lot) and I really dislike that she was forced shipped with Mikey. It was the most pointless decision they did for her character. You can just tell the writer's didn't know what to do with her so the made her a love interest as well thinking that would make her more interesting. That was a dumb decision. Her and Mikey are not a good match for many reasons I won't get into, but here's what they should've done:
Not ship her with anyone cause we already had enough love interests by the time she entered the show.
Ship her with Leo instead of making him crush on his freaking sister. They already wanted him to have a crush on a female ninja from the Foot Clan who's a bad girl, why couldn't they hold it off until he met Shini instead of Karai?
Ship her with Casey as a way to give Casey a happy ending after that whole love triangle drama.
Ship her with Karai cause they were obviously already dating in the show! Shinirai forever!!
Regardless of that poor decision, I love Shini, her design is very gorgeous and creative, and her concept of being a witch brings something new to the series with magic and illusions. I feel there has been wasted potential with her not being involved during the Kavaxas arc, cause come on, she's a witch who specializes in dark magic. Why didn't they have her be attached to the Kavaxas cult in some way? Or have her know about Kavaxas and help the team stop him? Honestly I was convinced at one point that Shini was going to be a surprise villain and she was secretly loyal to Shredder not Karai and betray her during the finale. I made a whole post about it actually LINK.
Overall, I love Shinigami! Next to Mona Lisa she is one of my favorite female characters. I love seeing her teasing April and the others, especially towards her enemies, treating a battle like its nothing more than a game to her. Her loyalty and romance friendship with Karai I adore. She is such a fun character and underrated too if you ask me.
Alopex
She stole the show and she was only in one episode! Once again, another underused female character. Alopex is technically (not counting April) the first female mutant on the show (not counting Karai cause she's able to turn back), and we only get one episode with her. That should be consider a crime, but the episode she was in, she made a damn good impression. We learn of her and Tiger Claw's tragic backstory and you grow to understand why she is so hatful towards her brother for the life he put her through and him supposedly killing their parents. She establishes herself as a badass and continues to prove she is a badass throughout the episode. The way she cut off her brother's tail and later is arm without a second thought and then leaves shows shows how ruthless she is, but her sparring him also shows her compassion and her hope that one day her and Tiger Claw can be a family again.
Her line "Just remember, I could have taken your life" sent chills down my spine when I first heard it.
My biggest complaint is WHY didn't they bring Alopex back during the Kavaxas arc in season 5?! How cool would it have been if the Turtles recruited and teamed up with Alopex to take down her brother!

January Reading Wrap-Up
The first month of the new year is over, and with it begins a whole new year of reading goals! I personally set my goal to 24, which was the number of books I read last year, but considering I've already read 12 this month (okay, two of them were short stories) I'm feeling pretty confident about overcoming that goal!
I thought it would be a good idea for me to write down short reviews of books I read each month, as a way to help me better understand what it is that I like about books. I've never been very critical with my ratings, as you'll notice soon, so I'm hoping that the more thought I put into the reading I've done, the less 5 star ratings I'm giving out.
Books I'll be discussing below:
A Court of Silver Flames, by Sarah J. Maas
Ankle Snatcher, by Grady Hendrix
The Pram, by Joe Hill
Don't Let Her Stay, by Nicola Sanders
The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien
Red, White & Royal Blue, by Casey McQuiston
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams
Do Not Disturb, by Freida McFadden
Mister Magic, by Kiersten White
Circe, by Madeline Miller
The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, by Douglas Adams
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, by Suzanne Collins
And of course, here are my Goodreads and Storygraph profiles if you're interested!
A Court of Silver Flames Sarah J. Maas

“The struggle with that darkness is worth it, just to see such things.”
As you could probably expect considering this is the last (at time of writing this) book in the series, I’ve read all of the books to come before it. And this is actually my favorite one.
Which surprised me, I kept seeing a bunch of bad reviews and people talking about how unlikable Nesta is, but I really just don’t agree. I mean, yes, Nesta’s unlikeable at first. That’s the point, character growth and whatnot, but I actually found her much more relatable than Feyre ever was. In fact, I’d go on to say the romance of this book is more fun than the romance of the rest of the series. I adore Feyre and Rhys, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes it’s really nice having a relationship that has more emotional conflict to it. In fiction, at least.
Feyre and Rhys in this book both come off as very up their own asses, which I always imaged had something to do with why people aren’t as fond of this book. But I honestly was a big fan of it. It’s interesting to me seeing the way a character you thought you knew so well can appear from a different POV.
And all that aside, I do genuinely enjoy the arc Nesta goes through, and I really found her emotional struggles very relatable. It felt so worth it coming out at the end and seeing just everything we overcame with her.

Ankle Snatcher Grady Hendrix

"They live in our closets and under our beds, and after dark they come out when we break the rules. We’re serving time for the boogeymen’s crimes.”
I liked how the theme for this short story was very clearly generational trauma, being shown in a physical sense with these sorts of demons that are physically following people down the generational line. In the case of the main character here, it’s a monster under his bed that will kill him if he gets out of bed at night, this monster having come to him after being attached to his father. I’m a sucker for generational trauma as a theme, especially when it’s shown in a bit more abstract ways. It was a really quick and easy read, I honestly just was reading it when I had nothing to do at work, and it was really digestible as a horror short story. I'm a very big fan of Grady Hendrix's writing style, and I think it really works well in the form of a short story.

The Pram Joe Hill
Tumblr media
It never once crossed his mind that he was depressed, too, that he had also lost a child.
The Pram was a very emotional experience to me. I’m not going to really divulge much of the plot, as there is a very heavy content warning for loss of a child, but I do think it’s important to share the remaining emotions connected to the story. The main character is shown to be developing resentments regarding the content warning above, and we as the reader get to watch as it slowly begins to take over him. It’s an interesting perspective to see from, as there is even a moment where the very obvious root of the resentment starts making sense, and you begin to understand he doesn’t resent the situation, but rather his own emotional reaction to it. I think Joe Hill is a really talented author, especially with situations that aren’t always completely comfortable to readers, but it’s handled in a way that made this a very emotional read.
4 Stars
Don't Let Her Stay Nicola Sanders

'Don’t stand too close to any balustrades, Mrs. Atkinson.’
I honestly keep having a hard time trying to put this one into words. It twists and turns and sometimes I loved it and sometimes I didn’t.
It was the kind of book that made me confused, sometimes unsure how things were going to go, and always eager to find out. Yet simultaneously I just kept feeling like the main character was far too oblivious. I may have enjoyed the uncertainty of what I was experiencing, but the main character really felt like she was just gliding along in life with no understanding of why the sky was blue.
I’d have my suspicions about the twists shortly before they happened, but I still wasn’t really displeased to see them play out. Unfortunately, I did still find myself a bit disappointed with the outcome, despite enjoying most of the journey. I don’t know how to explain it without spoiling, and I’d like to avoid spoiling since I understand that a lot of people can still get enjoyment out of this book, regardless of the opinion of an internet stranger. I don’t think this book isn’t worth the read, and I’d hate to turn someone off of reading it because I couldn’t help myself and spoiled it while attempting to discuss my thoughts. I guess if anyone is ever interested in asking questions or discussing, I’m here to talk!

The Hobbit J.R.R. Tolkien
Tumblr media
“Go back?” he thought. “No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!”
I don’t even know what to say here. If you haven’t read The Hobbit yet, then I don’t know what I could say to incentivize you! At this point, I don’t personally know a single person that doesn’t have at least some understanding and interest of the Lord of the Rings franchise.
If you’ve been interested in the franchise but have been a bit stressed about reading the **book (like I have) then The Hobbit is a great start. The fun and adventure that J.R.R. Tolkien is known for, and The Hobbit is a far smaller book than the rest of the franchise. I’m a sucker for immersion reading (reading while listening to the audiobook at the same time) and I highly recommend the Andy Serkis version of the audiobook, if you choose to listen. He’s a wonderful actor and does an amazing job reading the book, and you just can’t deny getting to hear Gollum himself reading Gollum dialogue!

Red, White & Royal Blue Casey McQuiston

"With me it is quite stark: I miss you even more than I could have believed; and I was prepared to miss you a good deal."
This book is fun, and that’s a fact that rings true no matter what I say about it.
I’m not always the biggest fan of the writing, but sometimes I’m in love with it. Sometimes I find the concept incredibly silly, while other times I think it’s an interesting idea. It’s not incredibly deep or thought provoking, but it did give me the opportunity for some introspection. It might not make you cry, but you might have some strong feelings. You might roll your eyes, you might laugh. I may not have always been in the mood to read it, but I still had difficulty putting it down.
Above everything, this is the most important sentiment I have to say about it:
Sometimes it was incredibly, eye-rollingly, gushy. Sappy, even. But it kept making me smile and think about my own experiences with love. At the end of the day, I don’t care about the times that it felt a little silly, maybe even like fanfiction. I got a really good, loving experience out of it. I might not read it again, but I know I’ll keep going back to the quotes I highlighted from it.

“I think you ought to know I’m feeling very depressed,”
The first time I read this book, I was a teenager. And even before I read it, it still had a very prominent place in my household. My dad was always making references to it, my very first email address had a “42” slapped proudly on the end of it, this book was always just in my general consciousness, whether I fully understood why or not. This book, despite being a fun sci-fi adventure with an interesting outlook on life and the creation of it, is just so ungodly funny. I’ll never not cackle at “[t]he ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don’t.” The humor is just effortless, and rereading through it, it becomes clear just how much of our modern humor, whether intentional or not, is at least partially derived from this series.
It’s a very quick book, and really worth the read.
5 Stars
Do Not Disturb Freida McFadden
Tumblr media
I’ve never attempted to get blood out of my clothing before
I was honestly really invested in this to begin with. I adore the movie Psycho, and this book clearly began as a love letter to it. Plot points are almost beat for beat in certain aspects, it almost read as though the author was looking to see what her take on a story with the same premise would be. And I loved it for a good minute! Then the twist happened. The twist isn’t entirely bad, just very uncharacteristic and makes the book impossible to reread, as suddenly a good amount of the book just doesn’t make sense anymore. It really doesn’t line up with the twist. You know that thing people complain about with Frozen, like “it doesn’t make sense for Hans to be a twist villain, we see him smiling fondly at Anna when she’s out of shot! She would have no way of seeing that, so who was he trying to fool?” It just felt like that. Too focused on making the twist shocking and exciting, and not enough focus on making it an actual reasonable twist.

"You never forget the lesson that they would rather destroy you than let you inconvenience them.”
I really adore this book. I always loved the Creepypasta Candle Cove, which this book very clearly took heavy inspiration from. And I absolutely mean that as a good thing. Chapters will end with forum posts, podcast discussions, AO3 posts. (Yes, really) It’s a very clear love letter to the fascination with lost media and Creepypastas. I loved the paths this book took, I adored the characters, and I loved the premise. When I first finished the book, I found myself slightly confused by the way it ended. I foresaw a complete separate ending, I couldn’t understand why this was the ending the author went with. But then I read the acknowledgements at the end of the book, and immediately the tears fell. I got it instantly, and I just loved it even more.

Circe Madeline Miller
Tumblr media
You threw me to the crows, but it turns out I prefer them to you.
I had always heard people say that this book wasn’t anywhere near as good as Song of Achilles. I ADORED Song of Achilles, so I was a bit hesitant to read this book. I understand everyone’s tastes are different, but man I just loved this one so much more. What’s not to love about a woman living in isolation, turning men into pigs for stepping foot on her island.
There’s a lot of emotional hardships in this book, and yet I couldn’t put it down. Originally I had worried about the book running slow, considering the limited locations available for the story, but it really flowed nicely and I was never bored. I’m a sucker for retellings of mythology, and Circe is just so wonderful.
5 Stars
The Restaurant at the End of the Universe Douglas Adams
Tumblr media
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
This is going to seem lazy, but everything I said for the first book is the same here. Really there’s not much else to say. It’s more time with the fun characters that were introduced in the first book, as well as some new additions as well. I adore the titular restaurant as well, it’s such a fun concept to me and it was really enjoyable reading the scenes taking place in it!
5 Stars
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes Suzanne Collins
Tumblr media
People had short memories. They needed to navigate the rubble, peel off the grubby ration coupons, and witness the Hunger Games to keep the war fresh in their minds. Forgetting could lead to complacency, and then they’d all be back at square one.
Sometimes I really am a sucker for a main character that I don’t agree with.
Going into this, I knew I wasn’t going to agree with him. That’s kind of the point, isn’t it? To see the creation of the monster we know from the original trilogy. But he’s so human, and it’s kind of sad. Not sad from a writing perspective, she did a great job introducing nuance to the character. But it’s sad because it shows just how normal and natural a person may live and portray themselves, despite having the thoughts and feelings they do.
I adore this franchise, The Hunger Games is just so wonderful and I always love rereading the books. The last time I reread them was Valentine’s Day of last year, so who knows, maybe I’ll do that again this year.
My absolute favorite part of the book is seeing the little bits and pieces that you recognize of Snow from the original trilogy. Things that may seem inconsequential, if you’re reading this book as a new fan, but acts almost like little nods to the people who know what his future holds. The creation of this book, and the new movie based on it, has introduced a lot of people to the fandom. And it makes me so happy seeing all these new takes and perspectives!

So, just like with my original drafts of writing interactions between Spider-Man (Peter Parker) and Moon Girl. But this time...with a certain character from the Spider-Man mythos as well. This draft is from July 28th, 2023. And I'll admit, I do feel like as overtime, I think I underestimate Lunella's character when it comes to fighting supervillains. Especially with the kinds of people she has taken on in the show.
But this was written or just...it's made in a way like...I have told friends of mine that thinking of the prospect of Lunella being in the Marvel universe is kind of terrifying. Because while there have been villains that have provided a legit challenge to her. With some I prefer over others. But...me knowing the Marvel universe...
Here's my draft detailing a confrontation of Moon Girl fighting the Green Goblin. Again, merely a draft, and I tried imagining this Green Goblin's voice with Roger L. Jackson...but I kept imagining Willem Dafore.
As Moon Girl got up from her feet. She noticed her surroundings. Inside an old, abandoned building, things look like they’ve fallen apart. Almost as if this was the aftermath of a huge fire that didn’t completely burn everything. But the house was forgotten, abandoned. It was rural too, plants have grown around inside the building, without much care. There was only silence as she looked around.
Not a sound. And that scared her. She took stood her ground and activated her jetpack in case, arming herself with her shootable boxing gloves. Moon Girl kept scanning the area, nothing was hidden, maybe. She kept looking around, spinning around quickly so no one would jump her.
“Hello Lunella!” A familiar husky like voice called out to her in a strange friendly tone. The sound of some machine going off as she looked behind where the voice was at. And there he was, standing on that flying glider, jumping off of it onto the ground a mere few feet away from her, without losing his balance. The glider went somewhere, hidden. He stood up and began staring down at her with his orange eyes and smiled back at her. The way he stared at her was the closest a demon would in real life. It unnerved her even as she tried to keep holding her ground.
This was the man or...the monster that Peter never wanted to talk about. This was the thing that haunted him for years. The creature that took on the Avengers and nearly killing them. But also, the one that killed Steve Rogers, Captain America years prior.
The Green Goblin.
“You know, I’ll admit. When I first saw you on the news segments whenever they would talk about your little L.E.S., I felt genuinely surprised.” He said as he gently put his right hand over his chest. Goblin was sounding peaceful, non-threatening. “You know, I thought after I murdered Captain America, after all the things I did years back would’ve broken this city. But that alone fully divide the Avengers, that alone didn’t destroy a city. Which is really a shame. I think the most surprising part is seeing a young girl becoming a superhero...heh heh. You know, I thought no one would become a superhero anymore after what I did.” He continued to chuckle more as he put both of his hands on his waist.
“And you’re clever, I’ll admit that too. You’re able to accomplish so much at a young age. But I want to test something. Especially learning the cold hard truthful talk Aftershock had with you a while back. I heard she made excellent points.” He continued laughing. “Oh my, she pretty much was right on point. But, again, I want to test you.”
Moon Girl kept standing her around despite sweat was starting to form on her head. She kept looking at him.
“From what I’ve seen, you’ve usually have help from your big dinosaur friend or that other girl. But right here, right now. There’s no Devil Dinosaur. No Casey. No Mimi. And no Spider-Man or whoever else to help you. It’s just the two of us. And I want to see how you can take me on without any help.” After he said that, Moon Girl pointed her right arm, armed with a boxing glove, ready to shoot him in the face.
“Come on, shoot me in the face with one of those boxing gloves. Do it. Come one Lunella. What’s the matter? Are you scared?” He continued smiling back at her.
“No, I’m not.” She responded back to him.
“Then come on, do it! Hit me with your best punch! Knock me out!”
After he said that, Lunella put a lot of force into this one glove, she shot it right in the middle of his face. After the glove hit him in the face, it simply bounced off like it was nothing. Lunella’s goggles gave a widened eye emotion as her jaw dropped. She put so much pressure into that one glove, but nothing worked. He took the glove like a champ.
“Aww, that was adorable. And useless. Do it again.” He responded back.
She shot him in the face again. Then again, and again, and he began walking towards her. She continued to back away as she kept shooting him everywhere, the face, the chest and whenever else. The moment he got way too close, Lunella started to fly away, getting away from him as far as possible.
“Come on Lunella! Show me that “Moon Girl Magic” you talk about! You know I’ll just chase you down!” After he said that, he heard a water like sound, she shot her bubble gun right at him, but he quickly dodged the shot. She decided to get closer to get a clearer shot, but he jumped at her, grabbing her bubble gun from the front, stopping it from firing, and literally ripping it out of her hands before grabbing and throwing her across the building. Moon Girl screamed as she broken through a wooden wall and landing on the other side. Her jetpack hit a brick wall behind her. While it wasn’t heavily damaged, it was getting there. She tried to fly around the building again, planning what else to do. What can she do right now? She needed to call someone, but her head was hurting after being thrown so hard.
Suddenly, the left wing of her jetpack was grabbed by something heavy. And it was the Goblin again. He spun her around a few times as she continued to scream before letting go, breaking through an old ceiling, her jetpack was slowly becoming more damaged.
“What’s the matter Moon Girl?! Is something wrong? Am I too much for you or are you getting weak?!” He yelled at her. Prompting Lunella to launch back at him, yelling. She decided to repeatedly punch him as hard as she could. Almost akin to when she tried fighting the troll under the bridge. Trying to call him names and threaten him. But he kept smiling, nothing was phasing him.
She repeatedly punched him in the face multiple times. She wasn’t holding back. But the Goblin looked back at her, laughing like a maniac. It made Lunella pause as she was in disbelief at what she was witnessing. “You call those punches?! I consider that tickling!”
At that moment, wondering what else to know, she tried to fly away again. But he grabbed her left foot. She kept trying to fly away, but his grip was so strong. He then pulled her into another direction before letting go of her foot. She was flying directly toward a nearly collapsed brick wall. Lunella quickly turned her body, using the jetpack to hit the wall as it was destroyed and fell apart. Despite her jetpack was able to save her from being extremely injured, it was broken now. She couldn’t fly anymore even when she tried using it. Lunella tried getting back up on her feet, but she fell back down to her knees.
She was breathing heavily, she was stressed out, trying to figure out what to do. But fear was getting control of her. This fear was like when she felt being inside the Coney Island funhouse. But this felt much worse than that. How that was even possible? All the times she was afraid before and after that, all those memories were flooding back. She then heard footsteps behind her, she looked over her shoulder.
At first glance, it almost looked like the clown from the funhouse had appeared. But instead, it disappeared and transformed back into the Green Goblin.
Lunella gasped as she started to crawl away as quickly as she can. The demonic looking smile the Goblin gave towards her when she looked back at him. This was so much worse than the funhouse. But this wasn’t about losing Mimi or trying to get over her fear. This was about her life.
She whimpered as she kept crawling as the Goblin kept up with her. “Tell me Moon Girl! Is this anything like the fight you had with Aftershock?! The Muzzlers?! Gravitas?! Abyss?! Odessa?! Or what about the whole incident with Morlak and the Enclave?!”
He grabbed her by the jetpack, she yelped and tried to get away.
“I’m sure fighting them must’ve been really tough! But keep in mind, ALL OF THEM ARE ROOKIES COMPARED TO ME!” He yelled out before throwing her across the building, hitting floors and ceilings. She fell back to the floor in pain. Lunella wanted to cry, but she didn’t want to. Her goggles luckily didn’t break yet. She scanned around for an exit, anywhere to escape from here.
“Smartest person on the planet! And you can’t even figure out a way to beat me!” His voice was heard across the building. “What a shame to hear the Beyonder considers you smarter than the likes of Tony Stark, Reed Richards, T’Challa and even good ol’ Doctor Doom! Didn’t he know you haven’t tussled with the big boys yet?! Or are you just going to stick with saving cats out of trees, fighting some muggers and beating D-list or Z-list supervillains that are weak compared to people like me?!”
She kept walking around, trying to find an exit, but there was nothing.
“You know, it’s actually really sad the Beyonder really did choose you. If he picked maybe any of the Avengers, any of the Fantastic Four, or Hell, if he even chose Spider-Man as a representee of Earth, I would’ve understood. I’d be pissed, but I would understand. But no, he chooses a 13-year-old girl who nearly doomed humanity who’s running in terror from someone like me. I wonder if he’s regretting his choice picking you. Maybe he’s getting a laugh or being concerned for you watching us right now.”
After that, Lunella tried to hide in one spot as she continued to look for a way out.
“Honestly, the fact you’re so smart. You could’ve done some great things. Instead, you waste time wearing a stupid outfit like that, helping a stupid community that you live in. And yet you can have it all with that dinosaur friend of yours! But again, you don’t go for it! You’re just as bad as that arachnid I hate so damn much! You, him and me are exceptional among the many others who act as if they’re special when they aren’t!”

I don’t want to be disrespectful, to you or Tobias (because yes I do care about respecting fictional characters lol).
I saw someone asked about Tobias going to therapy, and it got me thinking. To your Tobias, the time he felt the real thing for someone for the very first time was with Casey (in HC and DTI) and with Hopkins Girl he felt as real as he was going to feel about someone at that time. (According to his [your] words from an ask you answered a while ago. I believe he told her something about never wanting a real relationship until her.)
First I want to say that I am in no way saying these women belong/ed to Ethan, BUT idk I think is… weird? Curious? Interesting? That consciously or unconsciously, the times he fell (or was close to falling) for someone, was only with women Ethan loved. Maybe it was just bad luck? (Well not really because it all worked out for Tobias at the end lol). Or maybe just one of those “funny” things in life”?.
Or maybe, and here’s where I ask: was this something he worked on in therapy? Was this something he should have worked on in therapy? Did he ever notice this? Was this really done unconsciously? (this last question is for both Tobias and you as the writer).
I am in no way trying to paint him as a "bad guy", just trying to understand him. :)
This reminded me of the meme of Dr. Doofenshmirtz that says “If I had a nickel for every time I've been doomed by a puppet, I would have two nickels. That's not a lot, but it's funny that it happened twice.”.  🤭
Hey Nonny,
Thanks for the ask (and the follow-up, which I am chuckling over lol)
I really don't think it was anything for him to work on. Here's why:
With the Hopkins woman, I don't think it is odd that they both fell for the same woman. They were best friends and it's not unusual that they'd be attracted to the same kind of woman. Throw in the competition these two had going on back then, and it's not surprising that this happened. (Even though the DTI version and HC version of the stories are very different).
In my HC for Ethan and Kaycee, Tobias never has an interest in Kaycee outside of friendship.
In my HC for Tobias and Casey, Tobias fell hard for Casey before he knew she had anything to do with Ethan. Now, did he smirk a little and think, "Really?" when he found out. A little. because this was before Casey broke up with him, and before the attack... he still had some growing up to do.
But the attraction he felt to her had nothing to do with Ethan. After Casey broke up with him, his desire to get her back had nothing to do with Ethan. Then, during the attack, he realized just how much he cared for this woman and how much he wanted her in his life, and that had nothing to do with Ethan. By the time the two of them are together for real - literally, no one is giving her past with Ethan a second thought.

Ch 4
Warnings: minors dni! Sensitive content!
An- I apologise for the filler chapter guys!! Just wait for the next chapter 😉 any punisher fans out there?? Riona is heavily inspired by frank castle!
The leader in blue couldn’t help but feel unnerved by the stranger that fate brought into their lives. Apart from her physical appearance, that being of someone heavily martially trained, she didn’t move or act like a civilian either. His gut feeling, he just couldn’t shake it. The terrapin couldn’t help but feel guilty, at the end of the day, it was his brothers soulmate, the first of the four of them to have found theirs. Yet here he was , doubting her, he didn’t even know her?
He just noticed the change in Raph, a more evenness in his mood, he was always running off to meet up with her. It made Leo nervous.
When it came to his attention that he wasn’t the only one with these worries , that Casey also joined him in an unwavering suspicion, he decided maybe that his instincts where right. He knew the cop was anxious about the fact she was actively living with his girlfriend. The rest of his brothers seemed indifferent, Donnie thought something else was going on but that it wasn’t any of his business where as Mikey was eating his heart out with jealousy that Raph had found his mate first.
“ Leo, look, you aren’t going to believe this!” It was Casey , first thing in the morning, bounding into the lair, an armful of papers in hand. Red in the face from whatever he had found out.
Two weeks ago the pair formed an alliance , whilst Leo was trying to tail her during her mysterious night ventures, Casey would hunt through files. Both constantly coming up empty, Leo would always loose her and Casey could never dig anything up on a Ryan black, only that she moved from Ohio a few weeks back.
Looking around him , Leo hushed him, putting a finger to his mouth. This couldn’t get out, especially to Raph. Nodding, he set down the files, also his phone. A recording.
“ okay, no one that age is that squeaky clean so I got a snap of her and took it to a guy I know in homeland.” He began. Reaching forward and hitting the red button. After the continued sound of rustling fabric, the eldest could pick out the two varying voices.
“ hey man, I need favour.”
“ sure, what is it? I owe you one.” The security agent laughed easily.
“ can you tell me if you know if I can run a face in the data base.” He showed the photo of riona and April. Instantly, there was silence in the recording.
“ you leave that alone Casey Jones.” His voice Icey cold, it made Leo inhale sharply. All signs of that easy chuckle frozen. “ ghosts need to stay ghosts Jones.”
“ don’t you dare, you owe me this , please.”
“ okay, just, just don’t invole nypd, this stays between us.” His voice lowering now, hushed.
Casey agreed way too quick, desperate to get some answers.
“ look up Riona adams. “
After that, the tape ended, Casey swiftly sat his phone down, eager to show all the evidence he had gathered. Files upon files, all littered with big bold red letters, confidential. In the files was details about where she was born, her spouse, her military background, evidence of her deployments, the base she trained at. Everything was there, mugshots , her military id. Her true name. This was a lot. “ okay so she’s lying about who she says she is? What does that prove? “ Leo asked, scrutinising the paper. Slowly flicking the page Casey pointed a finger to the stamped bold letters.
Deceased.
She’s dead? Who was that in April’s apartment! All the data matched, the height, the description, the pictures. This was Ryan. This riona character was his brothers mate! “ someone high up is hiding something. So! I did some potentially illegal digging and I found this.” On it was a case file of squadron, dated two years ago. There where photos paired with soldiers. Stamped over the top, more of that red inked writing , deceased. A whole squadron dead .
Riona was there too, also marked deceased.
Due to most of these soliders residing in the state , The nypd had began building a case against this squad for illegal activities in foreign countries. there where statements wrote beside the photos. Most of the squad had no idea what they where doing was illegal, some stating they where following orders.
Leo was so confused , his brow ridge furrowing . What did this mean? “ don’t you get it Leo? Every single one of these people are dead or under a new alias! Twenty individuals are mysteriously dead? This has covert ops written all over it! Most of these soldiers stated they where following orders! “He was flicking through the pages, pointing roughly, spiralling with this knowledge. “ these people are that much of a threat that whatever they know was enough to get them erased for it Leo! These are the special ops! I mean the best of the best! And one just happens to be your brothers soul mate and living in my girlfriends apartment. These squads technically don’t exist.”
It was starting to set in now, the gravity of the situation. “ keep your voice down.” He scolded, pulling a chair up he began to read through the files. The details where harrowing. This many people culled and riona just happened to survive. Setting the papers down rather roughly, he interlocked his fingers, resting his elbows on the table. “ she’s sketchy, I get it, but how does that make us able to find out what she’s up to? Maybe she’s not up to anything? “ Casey gave the leader a doubtful look, that made Leo sigh. Wishful thinking wouldn’t get him far.
“ who’s not up to anything? “ stood at the door was the second eldest Donnie, and the youngest, Mikey. Both making their way into the room. Mikey bounding towards Casey and Leo, the cop quickly gathering up the papers and tucking them neatly up under the arms. Donnie, the genius, narrowed his eyes and studied him suspiciously. “ where’s Raph? “ Leo asked , trying to change the subject. Donnie shrugged. “ he didn’t come home last night.” He was nonchalant.
Leo spun around, eyes wide. “ what do you mean he didn’t come home.” His deep rumbling voice on edge . “ relaaaax bro, he stayed with Ryan last night. He texted me.” Mikey jeered. “ I’m so jealous aghhhh! Go Raph! Scoring!” The tangerine clad turtle was really really happy for his brother. Purely.
Their relationship had progressed that much? Yet he didn’t know a thing? She was keeping him in the dark? It angered Leo beyond belief. “ her names not Ryan, it’s riona .” He spat, some what venomously. Maybe it was time for an intervention.
“ what are you talking about Leo?” Donnie asked curiously, somewhat apprehensively. Making his way to the table, he extended his hand, open panned. Waiting for Casey to hand him the files. After a nod from Leo, he begrudgingly handed them. Slowly , he began flicking through the files, Mikey leaning obnoxiously over his shoulder the whole time, every now and then asking what this and that meant.
“ you did a background check Leo? Was that really necessary ? “ Donnie asked, pushing his glasses up his nose before tidying the papers away. “ com’on Don! She’s lying to everyone! Why have a fake name? Why hide it?” Casey spoke over Leo, somewhat tiredly. “ because it’s obvious this goes a lot higher than us, someone wants her dead, obviously, hence the alias and low profile. “ The purple clad terrapin explained , using his hands to emphasise his point.
The ray of sunshine looked about ready to explode. “ wait, wait , wait- so you are telling me that RYAN is actually called RIONA , that she’s some super solider, who was tricked into doing ILLEGAL WAR CRIMES annnddd now she’s on the run from the GOVERNMENT!”
“ yeah pretty much.”
“ sick, she’s so cool , no wonder she’s so scary.”
Casey and Leo, simultaneously rolled their eyes while Donnie chuckled at his younger brothers antics. “ that’s not all.. “ Casey began, sorting through the files. “ her last place of employment , before everything went down, was here.” He slammed down a piece of paper, an application form for a security job. “Sacks.” He sighed. The nail in the coffin connecting her to the foot. To shredder.
“ now do you see why I had to don? “ Leo asked, almost demanded. “ that’s a big allegation Leo. “ was all he stated. “ this is all coincidental evidence, you have no solid proof. Especially before you start making these accusations , Raph won’t be happy.” He shrugged, raising his hands.
“ that’s why no one is going to tell Raph anything, not until we have proof, that includes you Mikey.”
Said turtle was nervous, shrinking under his older brothers gaze , Leo just happened to be standing infront of him. Behind Leo, stood the big bara himself. Muscle lined arms folded across his broad chest , tooth pick jutting out between his teeth. Being a ninja had its perks.
“ no one is going to tell Raph what!” Big red’s perfect mood from a perfect morning with his perfect woman was now well and truly ruined. They where talking about him when he wasnt even here? Actively planning on keeping a secret.
“ Jesus thanks Mikey.”
“ I’m sorry Leo, he scares me more than you do .”
“ well? What tha’ hell are ya planning on keeping from me hah?” Slowly, the red clad turtle sauntered haphazardly up to the table. The annoyed expression slowly dropping off his face as he recognised the photos. Ryan. “ what the hell is this Leo!” His deep Brooklyn accent increasing with his anger. “ you spyin’ on her or some shit!” Leo stood from the chair, raising his hands as though trying to calm a wild animal. “ hear us out Raph.” Taking a step forward he placed a firm hand on his shoulder, which Raphael quickly shoved off. This was a complete violation of her privacy, he knew something like this would make her back off completely.
However, they where his brothers. He had to have a little faith. Surely they wouldn’t do this without probable suspicion.
So he heard them out.
Que even more anger.
“ what?! Are you fucking serious Leo? You’re paranoid man Working for shredder? Seriously?!” He was looking to Donnie and Mikey, completely ignoring Casey. “ surely you two don’t believe this crap?” Mikey shrugged , already growing bored of yet another Leo vs Raph argument. Donnie began to chime in as the voice of reason “ there is no evidence to say she’s working for shredder Raphael, but, covert operations? The higher up’s proclaiming her dead? Her whole squad turning up dead? Somethings a miss. However, I’m not accusing her of working for shredder.”
“ Thankyou!” Raph exclaimed, looking towards, Leo as if to say ‘ I told you so.’
“ however, that vigilante started up around the time she got into town, not to mention, with her being in the coverts, she would have the skill set to pull off those accurate mass murders.” The genius further elaborated and Raphael slumped. He couldn’t help but see their point. She was an extraordinary person, truly, dangerous and cunning, enough to have survived this long. Raphael couldn’t deny it stung , it really really stung. Especially after a night like last night. Fuck, he didn’t even know her name. He thought he had gotten under her skin, obviously, he was wrong.
Mikey was the first to pick up in the shift of Raphael’s mood, being the empath he is. Slapping both hands down on his shoulders. “ don’t sweat it man, this doesn’t have to mean anything! This could all be a mad coincidence.”
Raph worked out of his hold, rubbing his forehead in an exasperated manner. What the fuck was he supposed to do. “ if she thinks I’m snooping about her past she’ll be done with me.” He confided, a sliver of that bubbling emotion laid bare. He wanted this to work! Hell this is who the universe determined to be his one and only! “ what if it’s right?” Casey took his turn to speak up, “ what if she is working for the shredder? Not only are you and your brothers in danger, but April aswell.”

Ok so like......a little bit ago you did some general headcanons for the TMNT boys in a relationship and I just love to imagine donnie with an s/o who's also a huge star wars fan like......picture sparring but the two of you just start making lightsaber noises and quoting lines as a form of banter.....and sometimes you start little fights about it because it's just fun to be like "you know I think Greedo shot first" and hear him go "whAT" three rooms over and rush to wherever you are......or having marathons every so often and needing pause every 10 minutes because one of you has another rant/theory about what's happening........and like cosplaying together and raising both your confidence and just having fun with it.......and the general shared fan behavior over merchandise and characters.....sorry your headcanons just inspired me and I wanted to share some of my thoughts. Anyway have a great day :)
Hey guys I'm back! Sorry for such a long hiatus, had some life shit I needed to work through. School's out and summer has been pretty okay so far, but if you've got any college tips for me please message me, I'll take all the advice I can get.
Anyways- I'm doing what I can to get back into writing, TMNT was a mild hyperfixation that I had a while ago, I never expected to gain so much traction on here for my writing. I hope you can understand my surprise when I got so much positive feedback and I do feel a little guilty for all of the requests that have sat in my inbox for months.
But no matter- I'm back now with a vengeance and I will be doing my best to push out more content. So thanks for being patient! Now that that's out of the way, let's get this show on the road.
TMNT Headcanons
In which everyone is afraid to ship people in the Star Wars universe in fear that they might be siblings (aka, Donnie's s/o is a huge star wars nerd and everyone else is fucking sick of it)
Tumblr media
Donnie was dead on the floor the second you made a Star Wars reference in front of him
dead in all capitals
dead in italic font
dead™
thing was, he'd already thought you were cool before you made the reference, you were Casey's friend and you weren't scared of him or his brothers
he had the very vivid memory of you yanking a crowbar out of a discarded toolbox in an alley when you'd first met and using it to hit a foot soldier over the head
that hadn't surprised him too much, it was the noises you were making with your mouth
"are you-"
"yeah," you shrugged, "making lightsaber noises makes me feel better about rocking his absolute shit with this thing."
Donnie was a little wary of you after that
but it admittedly turned into admiration when you'd started dating
well, most of the time, you jumping at him at 3am screaming "you were the chosen one!" because he'd accidentally eaten your leftovers wasn't what he'd call endearing
it did make him careful not to eat your food however
and god knows you two couldn't get 5 minutes into a movie without pausing it to dissect the plot, much to everyone else's annoyance
the worst times were when you didn't pause it, the others would watch you talk for 15 minutes as the movie went on before you stopped and had to rewind
what should've taken only 3 hours ended up lasting 5 or 6
the others eventually banned you two from watching star wars with them
you were fine with it, more time to talk anyways
sometimes it was extremely helpful, spirit-lifting if you will
you wouldn't, it sounded really cheesy and you were lactose intolerant as fuck
but it did help when the mood was a little sour
you'd walked in on the entire family moping about, you didn't have to ask what happened, you knew they'd had another fight
your eyes landed on Leo first and you decided to roll with it
"I did it."
they noticed how low your voice was first, and when they looked at you your expression was dark
"Uh... did what exactly?" Mikey was the first to respond
"I killed them- I killed them all. Not just the men. But the women and children too."
maybe it was your face, maybe your horrible impression of Anakin, whatever it was it made Raph snort so hard he fell into a coughing fit
Donnie did that near imperceptible giggle he always did whenever he found something funny and hearing that sent Mikey into a fit of laughter
Leo cracked last, not laughing entirely but he gave you that amused side smile and shook his head
yeah, you were pretty good at lifting the mood
sometimes it served very helpfully as a method to get Donnie out of his lab
one day when you were over having lunch with the others you immediately noticed your boyfriend's absence. you didn't comment- usually he came out on his own accord
but he didn't
Raph had sighed and rose to retrieve his younger brother
"hang on a sec Raph," you were mumbling through a mouthful of sandwich and waving at the wall of muscle. it took a moment for you to swallow your food before you winked at the others
then you raised your voice just a little and announced-
"yeah- that's an interesting take on that, but I still say that Greedo shot first"
you counted on your hands, your eyes twinkling with amusement
3-2-1-
"YOU WHAT?!"
"there we go."
all six and a half feet of the purple genius came tumbling down the hall and into the kitchen, gaze landing on you in complete and utter shock
"Works like a charm, hey darling, it's lunchtime and you need to eat."
"But-"
"You can chastise me later, now sit down and put food in your face."
he managed to shut his mouth and sit down at the table and at that moment the rest of the family burst into rambunctious laughter
Donnie was halfway through his second sandwich when he looked up at you again
"you don't actually think that, right?"
You snorted into your apple juice
"Of course not Donnie, I'm a dumbass, not an idiot."
I had SO much fun writing this, forgot how much I missed doing it. I hope you like it! And thanks for being patient with me!

Snow Maiden (4/?)
Daniela Dimitrescu x Reader
Requested by: @jillvalentine517
Request: Maybe for part 4 of Snow Maiden, it could be about the reader visiting the village and she'll run into Elena and Anton, who was drunk and he was harassing Elena which would cause the reader to step in and to diffuse the situation peacefully and as the reader and Elena walk away, Anton would drunkenly insult the reader before he was about to take a drink only to realize that his drink was frozen solid inside the bottle. The reader would escort Elena back to her house before she returned to Castle Dimitrescu. And when the reader was inside the castle, she was greeted by Bela and Cassandra as they would spend some time getting to know each other better while Daniela was outside on a hunt. (Maybe add a flashback scene where Lady Dimitrescu and Daniela both suggested that Bela and Cassandra should get to know the reader better?) And after getting to know the reader a lot better, Bela and Cassandra realized that there was nothing to be afraid of. Later on as it gets dark and cold outside, the reader, Bela, and Cassandra realized that Daniela hasn't come back home from the hunt and the reader would leave the castle to go look for her. As the reader searched for Daniela in the village, Elena rushed over to her side before informing her that she saw two male villagers captured Daniela and locked her up outside in a shed while the men celebrate inside their house which would cause the reader to head over to the men's house before sneaking behind it, heading over to the shed where Daniela was kept (Maybe add a scene where the reader encountered a dog, maybe a husky, that belongs to the two male villagers, who became fearful when the dog realized who the reader is and the reader would reassure her that she won't harm her?) and she would free Daniela from her restraints and carried her back to Castle Dimitrescu. When the reader arrived at the bathroom and run a hot bath for Daniela, Bela would leave the room to inform Lady Dimitrescu about what happened while Cassandra remained in the bathroom with the reader and Daniela. Once the bathtub was filled, that was when the reader would get in the bathtub with Daniela in order to keep her warm and when the reader noticed that Daniela was hungry, the reader would offer her to drink her blood as much as she needs which would cause Daniela to drink the reader's blood while Lady Dimitrescu and Bela arrived in the bathroom and Lady Dimitrescu would express her gratitude to the reader for being able to save Daniela. (Maybe add a scene where the reader asked Lady Dimitrescu if she could rescue the dog from the two male villagers and give her to Daniela as a gift?)Then the next morning, Lady Dimitrescu would send a courier to summon the two male villagers, who have captured Daniela last night, into her castle where Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters would brutally punished them while the reader head over to the two male villager's house where she would rescue the dog and befriended her before taking her back to the castle and give her to Daniela, which would cause Daniela to be happy and she immediately took the dog into her arms, cuddling her. As soon as Daniela comes up with a name for her new pet dog, she would immediately hug and kiss the reader so many times before thanking her?

You were visiting the village just to make sure everything was going alright. Suddenly that was when you heard Anton. You rolled your eyes. Every time he was drunk he was a complete asshole.
Wanting to make sure he was hurting anyone you began to make your way over to him. That was when you heard Elena and the horrible things Anton was saying to her. You had to step in, there was no way you were going to continue to let him talk to Elena like that.
"That's enough Anton, leave her alone." You calmly say as you protectively move over to Elena.
"What are you going to do about it Snow bitch?" He glared at you. "Freeze me to death?"
You glared at him and if glares could hurt he would definitely be frozen. "I don't kill people. But I will give you some advice. Maybe you should lay off the alcohol." You began you lead Elena away from Anton.
As you were leaving that was when Anton began to drunkenly insult you. You froze before quickly using your powers to freeze the beer that he had left in his bottle.
Anton went to take a drink only to realize it was frozen solid inside. All you and Elena heard as you began to escort her home was Anton swearing up a storm.
When you both arrived at Elena's house she gave you a hug and thanked you for stepping in. You smiled and nodded before heading back to Castle Dimitrescu.
Once you walked into the castle you let out a sigh of relief. But that was when you were greeted by Bela and Cassandra. You smiled at them, you could also tell they were a bit nervous.
"Bela, Cassandra, everything alright?" You asked.
Cassandra looked at you before looking at her older sister and elbowed her in the side.
"Ow." Bela glared at Cassandra before looking back at you and clearing her throat. "Cassandra and I were wondering if it would be alright if we spent some time together?"
Cassandra nods. "We would really like to get to know you better while Daniela is out on a hunt."
You smiled and nod as the three of you went to go spend time together.
xxxxx
Daniela was with Bela, Cassandra and her mother. She looked up at her mother who gave her a nod. Sighing Daniela looked back at her sisters.
"Sisters, I really think you should get to know (Y/N) better. I know you both would get along great with her if you gave her a chance." Daniela looked at them with a hopeful look.
Cassandra and Bela looked at each other. Bela sighed. "I don't know Daniela, you know how Cassandra and I feel about this."
"Girls." Lady Dimitrescu gave her two daughters a look. "(Y/N) has been nothing but nice to you, she hasn't given you any reason to be weary about her."
Cassandra looked down. "We know mother but-"
"No buts Cassandra." Alicia cut Cassandra off. "Daniela and I would really like you to spend time with (Y/N), get to know her better."
Bela and Cassandra knew better than to say no to their mother so the agree. That didn't stop Daniela from letting out a squeal before tackling her sisters into a hug.
xxxxx
As Cassandra and Bella spent time with you they realized there was nothing to be afraid of. Now they felt foolish for being so afraid of you in the first place.
As time went on you had noticed it was getting dark and a lot cooler out. Daniela should've been back by now.
"It's getting late, Daniela should've been back by now." Bela said as she worriedly looked at both you and Cassandra.
You were really worried, you could tell something was wrong. You stood up. "I'll go look for her, I'll be back."
Cassandrastood up, she gave you a worried look. "Please bring our sister back (Y/N)."
"I'll bring her back, I promise."
With that you quickly left the castle and head to the village. While you were searching around the village that was when Elena rushed over to you.
"(Y/N)!"
"Elena? Are you alright?" You ask.
She nods. "I'm fine but I just saw two male villagers capture Daniela and lock her up outside in a shed."
You thanked her for telling you and you quickly go over to those villagers house. You can hear them celebrating inside and it caused you to growl.
You were able to sneak behind the house and began to make your way over to the shed where Daniela was being kept.
But that was then you heard a dog whimpering. You look over and saw a husky that belonged to the villagers. They most likely had the dog for guarding inside of an actual pet. That just made you more angry.
That was when you realized that the dog was fearful of you. You frowned and held up your hands. "I'm not going to hurt you, I promise." You gave the dog a reassuring smile.
After reassuring the dog you go over to the shed, you ripped the door off it's hinges. The sight that you see breaks your heart.
"It's going to be okay my love, I'm here." You break Daniela free from her restraints.
You pick up Daniela and carry her bridal style back to the castle. Daniela nuzzled her face into your neck, seeking your warmth.
As soon as you ran into the castle Bela and Cassandra were immediately at your side. You ran into your room and bring Daniela into the bathroom, Bela and Cassandra right behind you as you told them about the two male villagers and what they did.
With one hand you started to fill the bathtub with warm water. While the bathtub was filling up Bela said, "I'm going to inform mother about what happened. I'll be back." She turned into a swarm of flies and left the bathroom.
While Bela went to inform Lady Dimitrescu Cassandra stayed with you. As soon as the bathtub was full you placed Daniela into the bathtub, you didn't even hesitate to get into the bathtub with her in order to keep her warm.
While you were trying to get Daniela warm you noticed that she was hungry. "You're hungry Dani. Here," you move your neck to give her better access. "drink as much as you need my love."
Daniela weakly looked at you, silently asking if you were sure. You gave her a loving smile and nod. Daniela leaned in and used her fangs to bite into your neck and start to drink your blood.
That was when Lady Dimitrescu and Bela came into the room. When they saw Daniela was drinking your blood they let of a sigh of relief. They knew she was going to be okay.
Lady Dimitrescu walked over to the bathtub and knelt down, she placed a hand onto of Daniela's head. "You're okay now my darling daughter, you're safe."
She them looks at you. "(Y/N) I could never thank you enough for saving my daughter. You have my eternal gratitude."
"No need to thank me Lady Alcina." You smile as you hold Daniela closer while she's still drinking your blood. "I would do absolutely anything to save Daniela and your family."
At that moment Lady Dimitrescu, Bela, and Cassandra knew you were part of their family.
xxxxx
Later that might while Daniela was sleeping in your bed, you carefully got out of her arms. You kissed her forehead before quietly leaving the room.
You walk towards Lady Dimitrescu room before knocking on her door. You wait until she told you to come in.
When Lady Dimitrescu saw you she smiled. "Hello my dear, everything alright?"
You nod. "Everything is alright Lady Alcina. I just wanted to ask you something."
Lady Dimitrescu moved so she was giving you her full attention. "What is it?"
"When I went to get Daniela the two male villagers had a dog. I could tell she wasn't being taken care of, they mainly had her as guard dog." You took a deep breath. "I wanted to ask for your permission to rescue her and give her to Daniela as a gift."
Lady Dimitrescu thought about it for a while. She knew how much her daughters always wanted a pet but she always told them no. But this time she knew it would be different.
"Alright my dear, I'll give you my permission." Lady Dimitrescu couldn't help but smile a little from the smile you had. "But you and Daniela must take care of this dog. I don't want her to cause any trouble."
"Of course Lady Alcina." You nod. "You have my word." With that you left her room to head back to yours.
xxxxx
The next morning Lady Dimitrescu sent a courier to get those two villagers who captured Daniela the night before and bring them to the castle.
While you were leaving the castle to head out to rescue the dog you had heard the manic laughter from Bela and Cassandra as they saw the men. You knew they weren't going to last long at all.
It didn't take you long to reach the house, you slowly went into the backyard and saw the dog.
It took some time but after a while the dog had warmed up to you. She had jumped into your lap and began to lick your face which caused you to laugh.
"How would you like to come home with me?" You smiled at the dog. She began to happily wag her tail and let out a happy bark. "I'll take that as a yes." You chuckled.
You had taken the dog back to the castle, when you walked into the castle you looked around. "Daniela, my love? Where are you?"
Next thing you knew Daniela tackled you into a hug. You smiled and immediately wrapped your arms around her. "I got a surprise for you Dani."
Daniela gasped and pulled away from your arms. "You do? What is it my love?"
You move to the side to show the dog. As soon as Daniela saw the dog she let out a squeal. She knelt in front of the dog and wrapped her arms around her, cuddling into the dog.
Daniela got up and immediately hugged you, she began placing kisses all over your face. "Thank you so much my love! I love her!"
"You're welcome Dani." You kissed her cheek. "Have you thought of a name for her yet?"
Daniela began thinking of a name. When she thought of one she smiled. "I'm going to name her Aurora!"
You kissed her temple. "That's a beautiful name my love."

Haunted Not By Ghosts- a McLeach fic.
The atmosphere was as heavy and thick as smog, stuck in time. The house, the barn and the ramshackle sheds were worn down from years of neglect, the barn having been particularly hard hit by time, half of its body rotted and given way to mushrooms.
The house's exterior had once been blue, now stripped almost completely to its wood and brick, with speckles of paint the only indication of what it might had been. The windows were cracked, rusted with dust. Weeds had forced themselves up between the boards of the porch, nearly obscuring the wood. Hidden among the vegetation was a dog bowl, a bright firetruck red that had now faded to a dull pink in the blistering sun, the faintest of childish block writing had faded too much to be read.
Taking a shaky breath, McLeach surveyed his childhood home. For forty years, it had laid abandoned, but it felt just as forboding now as it did back then, if not worse. Anxiety roiled in the man's stomach as he forced himself up the sunken steps, feeling the wood groan beneath him.
Joanna followed her master's footsteps almost exactly, not trusting the structural integrity of the building. She watched as McLeach hesitated with the doorknob, as if it would suddenly come to life and bite him. He gave a gentle twist of the knob- no luck.
"Aw hell.." McLeach huffed, twisting the knob harder. He jiggled the door, but the ancient wood refused to give. He crouched to examine the old doggie door-one he used as his personal entrance to the house-but he was now too old and too round for such an endeavor. Joanna looked between him and the door, noticing his pointed look. She shook her head hurriedly-no way would she be able to fit through there, and she was not looking to get splinters in her sides. Letting loose a curse, McLeach kicked the door-and it popped open nearly effortlessly. Quickly shaking off his surprise, he shouldered the heavy oak the rest of the way open, coughing as a wave of musty air washed over them both.
Once natural sunlight fell over the place, McLeach felt his breath catch in his throat- sans a thick coating of dust, the hallway looked almost exactly as he remembered it being. It was as if the other three McLeaches hadn't left the house; most of the decor still hung in place, with the addition of cobwebs. The coat rack still held his father's old bag, four pairs of slippers lined up beneath the side table, waiting for owners who would never return.
The house felt haunted. Not in the way most people came to think of haunted houses, brimming with ghosts; haunted in the sense that you could feel everything that had happened in this place. The anxiety only grew stronger, the further the pair ventured in. The carpet had faded from direct sunlight, but the patches in the shade of the furniture still remained its dark green color. Dust rose in clouds as man and lizard ventured carefully down the hall, with Joanna trying her best to hold in her coughing.
The family portrait was still there, hanging above a boarded-up fireplace. McLeach didn't blame anyone for leaving it, it wasn't something you'd want to have in your house. The sepia-colored photograph was dust-covered, but the man could still feel the cold, hard glare of his father through it. He raised his hand to wipe away the dust. The first to emerge was his mother. Thin-faced and tired, with her dark hair pulled up in an untidy bun. In one arm she cradled the newly-born Casey in his thick wool blanket, the other dangled down, gently squeezing the hand of a seven-year-old Percival. He had been small back then, missing two of his front teeth and a head full of hair like his mother's, dark and messy. Rubbing away the rest of the dust, Mr. McLeach soon followed. Towering over his wife and children, not even the shadow from the brim of his hat could have hid the starkness of his unnaturally light eyes. His large hand had a rough grip on Percival's shoulder then, the man grimaced at the memory. He couldn't bring himself to look longer at his father than was necessary. Even in photographs, he seemed to be glaring directly at his eldest.
Feeling claws on his leg, McLeach glanced down to see Joanna attempting to raise herself higher, she wanted a view too. He scooped her up as one would a toddler, though with some difficulty given her hefty weight. "Ay, you know who that is?" McLeach smiled, pointing to his mother. Joanna tilted her head quizzically- the human woman looked very distinctively familiar, even though she knew they had never met. "That's your namesake," McLeach continued, "My mama, Joanna. I promised that I'd name my firstborn daughter after her...and well, you count, I guess." Joanna wasn't able to understand just how important that was, but she felt it was very, very important. She waggled her tail happily, inching her snout closer to the frame. She clearly recognized the young Percival, and let out a rasp that sounded much like a wheezing laugh. "Go ahead, you looked weird when you were a kid too." McLeach rolled his eyes. His arms had started to ache, and he set her back down. He continued down the hall, and froze for a brief moment when he came to the wall opposite the sitting room's entrance. Beneath a framed picture of Casey with his model airplane, a round hole was at shoulder-height, the impact having shredded and burnt the faded yellow wallpaper. "..Damn idiot didn't bother to get it fixed after I left, eh?" He scoffed, "You see this, Joanna? You can tell I didn't get my marksmanship from Pops. He couldn't hit the broad-side of a barn." A slightly alarmed chirrup arose from Joanna's throat as she realized what that hole was, but McLeach didn't seem bothered by it. He breezed past the bullet-hole and past the sitting room, after taking a quick glance inside and finding that the armchair and couch were overrun with a brackish mold.
The kitchen was small, and had once been cozy. The kitchen window had broken, and one of his mother's prized climbing rosebushes had wormed its way in, leaving a layer of generations of rotting petals over the linoleum. Nevertheless, the rosebush itself was thriving, its creamy white petals shining in the golden sunlight. Reaching out to touch, McLeach couldn't help but to pluck one of the roses off, holding it in his palm. He had forgotten how silky-soft the petals felt, and how sweet it smelled; he closed his eyes and inhaled, feeling a sharp pang in his middle. A sharp pang of an emotion he couldn't quite describe. It was happiness and sadness rolled into one, and it left an ache. The smell reminded him of sitting outside with his mother, tending to the rosebushes together; if a blossom had just fallen, his mother would pluck apart the petals and keep them in a jar, preserved in the icebox until she got around to making soap and hand-cream. McLeach opened his eyes. The strange emotion only grew. He dropped the rose onto the floor, to join the rest of the fallen flowers.
Joanna had gotten braver, and went ahead of the poacher. She still felt intimidated by the house; she seen that her owner was as well. It was odd, to see him so on edge in a place that was so familiar to him. Maybe if she showed she was brave, he'd feel better. Crawling up a set of stairs, she gazed down the dim hallway. Four doors, only one of them was left ajar. Curiosity got the better of her, and the goanna went to take a peek.
The bedroom looked as if its occupant had left in a hurry. She could still see old toys and picture books on the shelves, a small, rickety wooden bed with moth-eaten blankets neatly made, with a shapeless lump that at one point had been a teddy bear sitting atop the covers. The walls were wallpapered, though it was difficult to tell what color they had been, for it was now all a dull grey. The posters on the walls were faded yellow, with vague shapes of rubberhose cartoon characters etched onto them.
Hearing McLeach wheeze his way to the top of the stairs, Joanna looked over her shoulder, and sat outside the door until McLeach could join her. He leant in the doorway of his old bedroom, soaking in the scene. After what seemed like minutes, he finally walked into the room, slow and quiet.
The thing of interest for McLeach were the picture albums on one of his shelves. The ones left exposed to the sun were faded-but maybe these were saved. He grabbed on and flipped it open, feeling a large lump rise in his throat when he seen that they were untouched. Smelled a little mildewy, but were still visible. He choked down the lump, flipping through each page slowly, wanting to savor every picture. His baby brother in his bassinet, wearing a goofy-looking baby bonnet. Flip. Their old dog, Blueberry, sleeping on the rug in the sitting room, a chewbone lolling out of his mouth. Flip. A photo of his parents on their wedding day, both looking much younger and happier than he had ever remembered them seeing; Mr. McLeach had looked kinder then, gazing at his bride with all the love and adoration that a husband was supposed to have for his life partner. Flip. His childhood friend, Ruby, sitting with the nine-year-old Percy on the river's rocks, holding baby ducklings. Flip. Flip. Flip.
These were happy memories; why did his heart ache so much looking at them? He shouldn't feel like this, looking back on what were the happier years of his life. Flip. Flip.
Percival's heart sank to the bottom of his stomach.
Of course there had to be pictures of Mr. Wells in here; back then, the McLeaches considered him as good as family. A tall, scrawny, unassuming man with shoulder-length brown hair, who had kindly and selflessly looked after Joanna and the boys while Mr. McLeach was away in the army- a second father figure, the reliant one, one who wouldn't yell and scream at the smallest of slights. After spending the summer with Mr. Wells as a boy, Percival wished he had stayed home. At least his father didn't play mind games with him, and when he hurt him, it was out of rage, and not premeditated. Not passed off as accidents that were all Percival's own fault. Not passed off as something he deserved, for something he couldn't even recall doing. The picture seemed so innocent. Just a kindly man with the boy he called his honorary son, on the back of a old mule at the fair. Percival knew better; he knew that under his child self's sweater was a nasty deep bruise, a bruise that hurt for weeks. Mr. Wells had claimed it had been an accident, that he hadn't meant to swing the shovel so hard into him. It was Percival's fault, for sneaking up on him like that.
'You'll be hurting for a while, Percy..' He could still hear that soft voice, too soft to note any real remorse, 'You frightened me something awful...I guess we learned our lesson on sneaking up on people, didn't we?'
We. As if it was a lesson they both learnt. As if it wasn't just one of the many thinly-veiled excuses used to hurt him. As if he didn't do worse, as if he did not permanently scar him physically and mentally. As if he didn't one day stop giving his excuses, once Percival had gotten too old to fall for them. As if it was the both of them having a knife held to the soft skin of their throat. As if it were the both of them who had to endure a full day and night in the skinning shed, surrounded by the dead, staring eyes of hogs. As if it were the both of them who had to endure nightmares, long after the torment had stopped.
It had always been 'We'. Never a 'I'm sorry.' It was always 'You.'
He had been brave only once. Brave enough to go to his father for help. How foolish of Percival to believe that his father would have stood up for his son. He never did such a thing before. The entire ordeal had been Percival's fault-his fault for being too stubborn, too much of a brat. If he had behaved better, Wells wouldn't have resorted to harsher punishments-it had been his fault he was treated so poorly.
For once, Percival stood up for himself.
Mrs. McLeach had tried to deescalate the fight. Mr. McLeach found himself with a broken nose, as Percival helped Joanna off the floor and out of the room. He only heard the safety click off before he had dove down the hall, sprinting from the door and into the night. "DON'T YOU EVER COME HOME!" For forty years he stayed away.
The strangled scream had terrified Joanna spitless. The goanna had been nosing around underneath McLeach's old bed, when her master emitted a sound so animalistic, that for a moment she feared that a big-cat had been hiding somewhere in the room. She immediately balled herself against the corner as the photo album was flung into the desk hard enough to shatter the frail wooden handle. The lump was back in McLeach's throat again, tighter and more painful than before, forcing tears to swell and blur his vision. His breathing came in ragged gasps, trying to keep the deep pain in his middle from winning. He crouched where he had stood, clenching his hands so tight that he felt as though they may break. He shouldn't be getting upset over this. He shouldn't be getting this upset over a goddamn picture.
It had been forty years. Why does it still hurt so bad? Why does it still feel so fresh?
The sudden warm weight crawling onto his lap tore him back into the present. Joanna scrambled as far up on him as she could. Percival hugged her as tight as he could, until his heart rate slowed back to normal, until he could breathe without choking. "Thanks." His voice was barely more than a croak. He took his bandana to dry his eyes with, "I'm sorry..I just.." he couldn't explain what had happened. Joanna understood though. She gently headbutted his shoulder, before slithering off of him and towards the photo album, picking it up in her jaws. McLeach took it from her, holding it in his lap. He'd tear out the pictures he wanted to keep, and leave the rest to rot in this forsaken house. The sun had just started to set as they made their way back to the truck, parked in the barren field next to the rotting barn. McLeach didn't even bother to give the house one last look before they drove off. Maybe now hadn't been the right time to come back. Maybe there never would be a 'right time.' Eventually, something had to be done about the place. Maybe he'd torch that haunted house to the ground. A house haunted, not by ghosts.

"Please welcome your newest team member!" Bloom announced, gesturing towards the door as a familiar figure entered the room.
"Oh my god..." Casey muttered.
"You!"
"Hello, Ethan. Dr. Tobias Carrick, reporting for duty."
Ethan's eyes flew to Bloom.
"Is this some sort of joke? Him?" he demanded, nodding towards Tobias.
"What exactly is the problem Ethan?" Leland asked, eyes narrowing. "If you had been faster and more efficient, then I wouldn't have had to make the decision for you."
"You planned this. You knew two of those candidates you had me interview weren't suitable. I wouldn't be surprised if you already had him lined up before you poached Baz from the team."
"Excuse me? Are you sure you want to continue down this road of accusations, or are you forgetting who is in charge around here?"
Ethan tried hard to control the anger building inside. But as his eyes darted between the smug smiles on Tobias' and Bloom's faces, he felt as though he was a volcano on the verge of erupting.
Both Casey and Harper remained silent, choosing not to get involved, but as Ethan's gaze flickered towards Casey he noticed that the look on her face was screaming for him to stop talking.
"I can't deal with this right now," he replied, fighting the overwhelming urge he had to tell Leland to shove his job up his ass.
He made his way towards the door, stopping just shy of it.
"Bringing him in is going to destroy this team," he stated, before storming out of the office.
He walked down the corridor not knowing where he was going, but knowing he needed to distance himself from the situation.
The quickening sound of clicking heels behind him told him that Casey was following. He knew she would, well he'd hoped she would. As she caught up with him, he felt her hand grip around his arm.
"Ethan, stop."
Just having her near him was enough to reduce his anger back down to a simmer. But as he turned to face her, he realised she had brought the look she had given him in the office with her.
The usual warmth of her green eyes had been replaced with a piercing stare and the luscious lips that had left a trail of kisses over every inch of his body the night before, were pinched together tightly to complete her disapproving look.
Instead of the calming effect he had become accustomed to, he now felt like a naughty school boy who'd been dragged into the principles office.
"Have you lost your mind? Or are you trying to get fired?" she snapped.
"No, I'm not trying to get fired, which is exactly why I had to walk out. I can't just stand there and accept Bloom bringing Tobias into the team and act like I'm not extremely bothered by it. He's not a good fit Casey."
"I know you and Tobias have a complicated history..."
"You only know some of the story. I feel like Bloom is playing some sick little game, just like he was last year when we first met him. He said then that competition is the father of excellence, but our team has no place for competitiveness. Working together is what makes us succeed. You've seen glimpses of how Tobias works yourself, you've seen how competitive he is. It's all a game to him. He wants to outdo me at every given opportunity and patient care will suffer because of it."
"What about after the attack? He helped then when he really didn't have to."
"I am eternally grateful that everyone came together to help save your life. But it was a high profile case. When it comes to Tobias, cracking that case was going to make him look good, so I'm not surprised he jumped at the chance to get involved."
"Do you really believe he's that selfish? Is there not even a small part of you that thinks he helped because he wanted to do it for you? The man who was once his best friend?"
He thinks for a moment.
"Maybe. But I don't really care what his motive was on that day. All that matters is that you walked out of there."
He felt her wrap her fingers around his, giving them a tight squeeze.
"I don't trust Bloom, or his decisions any more than you do. And if you think I should be wary of Tobias, then I definitely will be. But please don't give them the satisfaction of knowing they have got to you like this. Just try to grit your teeth and get through the next couple of days, see how things go. I know it's going to be hard, but I will be on your side and by your side through all of it."
She placed a gentle kiss on his cheek.
"Come on let's get back in there."
They walked back to the office hand in hand and found the other three still in the room.
"Feeling better now buddy?"
Ethan felt his anger rising as Tobias flashed him a charming smile, but he forced it back down as he thought of Casey's words.
"Hmm, yes. This was all just a little unexpected."
"Hey, no hard feelings. I'm looking forward to working together again," he replied, with his hand extended.
Ethan looked at his hand then at Bloom who was watching them closely.
"Yes, it's certain to be interesting," he said returning his gaze to Tobias and taking his hand for a single firm shake. "Welcome to the team."

(andrew garfield, 34, male, he/him) CASEY SCOTT! i heard you’re working as an ART TEACHER at ASBURY PARK HIGH SCHOOL - do you like it? it’s pretty rad that you’re from MURFREESBORO, TN and that you’ve been here for TWO YEARS, now. damn, time flies! i can tell that you’re a bit ECCENTRIC, HYPERACTIVE, and SINCERE, which means you’re probably fitting in around here just fine. you got that whole MOST LIKELY TO BE FOUND LOUNGING BAREFOOT ON THE HIGHEST BRANCH OF A TREE TO AVOID YOUR PROBLEMS, IF CHAOTIC NEUTRAL WERE A PERSON, SEIZING THE DAY LIKE IT’S YOUR LAST AND ALL THAT JAZZ thing going on and it sorta reminds me of TREEFINGERS by RADIOHEAD. i hope i’ll be seeing you more down the shore! (jane, cst, 27, she/her)
Character History
Was raised on a farm near the outskirts of Murfreesboro by his mother and her elderly parents.
The proverbial middle child of 2 brothers. Would do just about anything to be the center of attention, even once going as far as to paint both himself and the cows lime green.
Suffice to say he was grounded. A lot.
Discovered his love of painting at a young age. Used to sneak into the barn at night with buckets of old paint to draw pictures of the animals on the walls.
His grandmother bought him his first set of brushes and an easel at 12. It was the best gift he had ever received.
Has struggled with ADHD his entire life and had to be homeschooled as a result of it’s severity. Didn’t think that higher education really suited him because of this, so he elected to be the one to stay behind when his older brother moved out.
Worked on the family farm for quite a few years before receiving an acceptance letter from an art school he had no recollection of ever applying to. As he was about to throw the letter in the trash, his mother admitted that she had submitted his art work to the school on his behalf.
He was reluctant to attend the school, as he didn’t like change. Moving to New Jersey, away from everything he had ever known, seemed like a drastic change, but he eventually did it to please his mother.
The experience was fine. He enjoyed being able to do what he loved every day and learning new things about art. However, he never quite fit in with his peers. In a sense, he felt like an outcast among what were supposed to be other outcasts.
It wasn’t until his last year of school that people really began taking notice of both him and his unusual paintings. His style would certainly never be palatable to the general public’s tastes, but there was still something about it that sparked interest; especially among the art community.
Quite a few notable buyers and galleries from New York approached him with such interest, but Casey had no intention of selling his work to them.
In fact, he had no intention of ever commissioning his art or moving to a city like New York to become some famous artist. That just wasn’t who he was or what he wanted. He was still the same offbeat kid from Tennessee who liked to climb trees and build mud sculptures. He just wanted a simple life.
After graduation he had every intention of returning home, but was stopped short of executing those plans when his younger brother showed up not long after.
They decided to stay in NJ and found an apartment in Asbury Park.
Needing a reliable income, Casey got a job as a carnie at the local carnival. He initially started as a ride operator, but was quickly moved to working the booths and doing face paintings after being reprimanded for continuously abandoning his station to ride the ferris wheel.
Casey’s face paintings shortly became a hit with the customers and he was eventually approached by the principal of the local high school who, as it turned out, was in desperate need of an art teacher.
The pay was marginally higher than the minimum wage he was making at the carnival, but Casey didn’t really see himself as the teaching type. There were too many rules and regulations to abide by and he had a hard enough time sticking to the Carnival’s few guidelines.
However, by the persuasion of his family, Casey decided to accept the position under a few conditions: the most obvious being that he didn’t have to wear a tie.
Surprisingly, teaching seems to be something he’s not terrible at and he genuinely enjoys all of his students as much as they enjoy him and his idiosyncrasies. The reception to him among his colleagues is divisive. Many of them think he’s unfit for teaching and too immature/unreliable, but he has managed to make a few friends which is something that is new for him.
Wanted Connections/Plots
Familial/Platonic Connections
So, Casey has always been very close with his family and considers his brothers his best friends. He’s also a huge mama’s boy. Family-wise, having his older brother and mother around would be cool to see. Another plot I had in mind was having their absent father come back into the picture for ~angst purposes lol.
As for friends, he’s always gone out of his way to make them but only a few people have taken to his quirkiness and hyper nature. Growing up, he was perfectly fine just hanging around his family and the farm animals, however, he has forged a few friendships with about 3 of his colleagues. One in particular Casey has grown quite close with after they stood up for him in an altercation between him and a science teacher who is hellbent on getting Casey fired.
I also imagine with his thrill-seeking ways, he tends to visit the hospital a lot for broken bones, sprained ankles, etc. so I could see him having acquaintances among the nurses and doctors.
Antagonistic Connections
He definitely gets on some people’s nerves lol. He’s always out and about around town doing things like climbing trees/buildings, jumping off of things, or painting murals on unsuspecting business properties. I could see a few shop owners not liking him, as well as some cops.
As previously mentioned, there is one science teacher at the high school he works at that has it out for him. Casey mistakenly pulled a small prank on them in the teacher’s break room one day and the two haven’t been on good terms since. I personally see them eventually having a bit of a funny love/hate dynamic.
Romantic Connections
He’s never actually been in a relationship. He did, however, go on a few disastrous dates when he was in art school. One had ended with him accidentally spilling spaghetti all over the girl’s dress and nearly setting his dorm’s kitchen on fire.
Casey has always valued being 100% honest, and thus always says what he is thinking. So whenever he has a crush or thinks someone is attractive he will straight up tell them, which makes things awkward sometimes. I could see one connection being a potential future crush and him just straight up professing his love as soon as he realizes his feelings lol. Definitely up for the reaction of his crush being hit or miss.

Valentine
Ethan x Casey
I haven’t written any fics for quite a while, but with OH3 coming soon I’m getting these vibes again….
I always wondered: what would the closing of Edenbrook mean to E x MC’s relationship? Here’s my attempt to this part of the story.
Sorry in advance for any mistakes, English isn’t my first language.
Warnings: none, I guess (maybe a few smutty thoughts)

Participating in @choicesfebchallenge Day14: Valentine
Tumblr media
“Good morning Dr. Valentine. This is your day today, isn’t it?” The nurse Rose greeted Casey as she entered the free clinic.
“Good morning. Yeah, I get that a lot.” Casey tried a friendly smile. Since she had been a child everyone referred to her last name on Valentine’s Day, making a remark or joking around. As a teenager it had made her feel special, but by now she was tired of hearing it. Especially today.
She had been in a bad mood since she woke up and it had nothing to do with her last name or Rose. But it had everything to do with the man who simply ignored this day today, probably didn’t even know it existed.
It was perfectly clear to Casey, that these kinds of traditions meant nothing to Ethan. Nevertheless, her disappointment was huge because she had had great expectations for today. After a few difficult weeks she had hoped that a romantic dinner could bring them closer together again.
After the gala and their public kiss everything had seemed perfect and she had spent some time on cloud number nine. But then Ethan gradually became distant and a little grumpy again. They both often worked double shifts and meetings outside the hospital became rare. And they never talked about their life after Edenbrook’s closing. Whenever they got close to that topic, Ethan would change the subject. And Casey was also in denial; she hadn’t applied to any jobs outside greater Boston because she didn’t want to lose Ethan. But maybe it was too late now anyway, she didn’t even know what point in their relationship they really were at.
“Has he told you yet?” Sienna interrupted her thoughts.
“Hi Sienna. No, I still have no idea what we’re doing tonight.”
“Oh, that’s so romantic. For sure he has something incredibly special planned for the two of you.”
Casey tried to maintain a cheerful façade even though she actually felt like crying. But Sienna’s enthusiasm was also kind of sweet, so she managed a smile.
“You seem more excited than I am.”
“I’m hosting a lonely-hearts roomie dinner tonight, so at least let me enjoy the romance in your life.”
Casey felt bad that she was being dishonest with her friend. It was silly, but she would rather spend the night at the movies on her own and then sleep in an on-call room than admit to her friend that Ethan wasn’t going to take her out on a date. Besides, talking about it would make it more real: their relationship was probably on the rocks.
A busy morning at the clinic kept Casey occupied and gave her no opportunity to dwell on her misery. As she was preparing an IV for a patient, she suddenly sensed someone right behind her.
“Dr. Valentine, can you please run some tests on this patient and then get back to me as soon as possible?”
Usually her favorite baritone voice quickened her heartbeat, but today it sounded businesslike and not appealing at all. When she turned around Ethan didn't meet her gaze. Instead, he just thrust a patient chart into her hand and was gone before Casey even had the chance to respond.
At first, she stood there with her mouth open, unable to move, a dreadful feeling spreading through her chest. She had barely seen him all week and that was all she got?
When her vision started to get blurred by tears, she quickly ran to a supply closet, locked the door and sank to the floor.
What now? She couldn’t decide whether she was more sad or mad. How could it be, that things went wrong so fast after everything they had been through together? And how dare he talk to her like a random intern, shoving that patient file into her hands so rudely. He wasn't even her boss anymore.
She still held the chart clutched to her chest and now wanted to check what seemed so urgent. But what she saw didn't make any sense. There was only a last name on it and an address, but everything else was blank. As she turned the page her heart took a leap. She wiped away a few tears and stared at the blank piece of paper. Two words stared back at her.
Dinner tonight?
When she finally remembered to breathe again, she flipped back to the first page and now the pieces were falling into place.
Sorellina, Huntington Ave.
She knew the name had sounded familiar. “Sorellina” wasn't a patient's name; it was the name of a fancy Italian restaurant in the Back Bay. To be sure she pulled out her phone and searched the internet. And what she found there brought a bright smile to her face.
…the ultimate destination if you're looking to really impress a date…
.. one of the most romantic spots in the city…
…awesome place for date nights…
So he didn’t forget after all! But why the strange behavior? Some things didn’t add up. You don’t get a reservation like this one day in advance. He must have planned this weeks ago. A lot had changed since and now maybe he just wanted to give them one last shot? He wouldn’t be so heartless to dump her on Valentine’s day, would he?
Casey was totally confused. Was she just misinterpreting the whole situation? But she couldn’t be that paranoid. Something was brewing and she was determined to find out tonight, no matter what. This time she would confront him and for once she wouldn’t let him off the hook so easily.
But first she had to get through the day somehow, and she had to head home during her lunchbreak to choose a breathtaking dress. And pack an overnight bag, just in case. Not to forget the special brand of scotch she had ordered for Ethan. And she had to tell Sienna. And…
Okay! First of all, she had to calm down and concentrate on her work. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Then she took a pen out of her pocket and wrote below Ethan’s message.
Tell me when and where and I’ll be there 💕
After leaving the supply closet she randomly grabbed two other files, placed hers in between and handed them to an intern. “Please get this to Dr. Ramsey immediately.” Then she went back to her patient, who was still waiting for his IV.
The day seemed to drag on endlessly. In the afternoon she found the piece of paper out of the fake patient file in her coat pocket.
Dinner tonight?
Tell me when and where and I’ll be there 💕
my office, 7 pm 😊
He had even drawn an emoji! Smiling she added one more line.
Dessert at your place?
Then she quickly ran upstairs, sneaked into Ethan’s office, and put the piece of paper onto his desk. Her eyes fell on the big clock on the wall: 4 pm! Three more hours to go.
 *******
Ethan sat behind his desk, already dressed in his tux, trying to focus on some files. But instead of working, he kept repeating in his head what he wanted to say tonight.
It was ridiculous. Usually, he gave speeches in front of hundreds of fellow doctors and here he was, being nervous about talking to one single woman. The difference was that he felt very qualified to talk about his profession, but he was totally insecure when it came to talking about his feelings. With Casey, he wasn't Dr. Ramsey, a famous and respected diagnostician; with her, he was simply Ethan, a man struggling with the changes in his life.
The sound of high heels echoed through the hallway and announced Casey's arrival. Trying to calm his nerves Ethan busied himself with his paperwork as she entered the office. He didn't raise his head, instead he just glanced at her over the rims of his glasses. As he did, she put her hands on her hips, pushing the winter coat aside to give him full view of her stunning dress. And it had the desired effect. The small piece of black nothingness took his breath away.
“Dr. Ramsey, don't you think it's inappropriate to look at a colleague that way?”
He swallowed hard, but he wouldn’t let her tease him like that.
“Dr. Valentine, don't you think it's inappropriate to wear something like that in your workplace?”
She smirked at him.
“Not as much as taking it off right here in your office.”
Defeated he shook his head, a smile showing at the corners of his mouth. He had to fight the urge to leap over his desk and take her right there against the office door, but instead he only sighed deeply and reached for his coat. This had to wait.
“We better get going or I don't know what I'll do!”
Together they left the office and walked to his car, holding hands. But despite their little banter just now there was an odd silence between them.
*******
The restaurant really was the perfect setting for a special date. Casey was overwhelmed and also kind of intimidated by the atmosphere. To her, it felt more like a first date with a guy she had a crush on than a dinner with the man she had been dating for month. And Ethan seemed equally self-conscious. But after some champagne, they both loosened up and had a really great time.
Almost.
Casey knew Ethan too well by now not to notice that something was strange about him tonight. She couldn’t shake that nagging feeling in her gut.
Back in his apartment, after she had given him her gift, he sat down on the couch with a serious face and asked her to sit down as well.
“I have something for you, too”
Blushing slightly, he handed her a small box and rubbed the back of his neck.
“I wanted to…, I mean this is… Oh, just open it and then I’ll explain!”
Carefully, she lifted the lid of the box and saw, lying on a tiny silk cushion, a key. From the looks of it, she assumed it was the key to his apartment. Casey gave Ethan a questioning look and waited for the promised explanation. But it didn’t come. Ethan seemed uncomfortable and pinched the bridge of his nose. Finally, he just blurted it out.
“Want to move in with me?”
Of all the things she had expected him to say, this certainly wasn’t on the list. But why now? Hundreds of different thoughts whirled through Casey’s head all at once. At first she just stared at him, then she burst into tears. For a long time Ethan looked at her helplessly, finally he ran a hand through his hair in frustration and murmured: “Obviously not.”
At that, Casey’s head snapped up. “No, no, no! I do, of course I do!” She wiped some tears from her face and explained between occasional sobs.
“The thing is: Whenever I imagined moving in with you, I got sad about not living with my friends anymore. And now I’ve just realized it doesn’t matter because in a couple of weeks they’ll all be gone anyway, scattered across the country. I’m going to miss them so much. And since I don’t know where I am going to be, there’s no point in moving in with you either.”
She shook her head, trying to keep the tears at bay.
“I’m sorry I’m such a mess, it just seems that everything is falling apart. This morning I wasn’t even sure whether you want to break up with me or not and I thought that…”
“Whoa, hold it right there. What on earth are you talking about?”
From Ethan’s shocked expression Casey could tell that it had obviously never occurred to him to break up. Slightly embarrassed she continued in an unsteady voice.
“I mean, the way you’ve been acting lately, especially this morning, you’ve been so rude….”
Ethan gently caressed her cheek with the back of his hand, wiped away her tears, and sighed.
“Oh Casey, I’m so sorry. But you know me; you know that I hate talking in front of patients. And I had a lot on my mind; I’ve been nervous all day about our date.”
He smiled shyly and shook his head. Then his gaze darkened again, guilt clearly written on his face. His brows furrowed, and he backed away a little.
“Although you’re right that I’ve been putting some distance between us lately. But I needed clarity about the whole job situation. And us. All my life I’ve planned everything three steps ahead and then suddenly it felt like I was losing control. I know I can’t ask you to stay because you have to finish your residency at one of the best hospitals in the country. Thus, I have tortured myself to figure out how we can make things work and I’ve been miserable all this time. Until I realized the answer is fairly simple.”
Casey couldn’t believe that they had both been so distraught for weeks, and instead of sharing and confiding in each other, they were just brooding over the challenges ahead, each to their own. Slowly, the uneasy feeling inside her stomach began to dissipate, although she had no idea what he was talking about.
“What answer?”
Ethan took her hand and he gently drew circles on the back of it with his thumb, his eyes following its movement.
“Edenbrook has been my home for almost 12 years now, and if they take it away from me, what else is there? Naveen, of course, and my father nearby, but other than that ….”
All this time Casey held the box with the key in one hand. Now he took it from her and raised the key to eye level. Her gaze wandered back and forth between the key and Ethan. He cleared his throat in search of words, but they didn’t come. Her heart hammered in her chest, the tension almost unbearable. Finally, his blue eyes met hers and he found the courage to speak, his voice husky and low.
“This isn’t just the key to my apartment, Casey. This key means I want to live with you, wherever that may be.”
His last words were only a whisper. “If you’ll have me, that is.”
Casey couldn’t even begin to grasp what it all meant. She would be able to apply to any hospital in the country and Ethan would be with her. Live with her.
An overwhelming feeling of happiness spread through her body.
“You really would do this for me?”
“No, if I’m honest I’m doing this not for you but for myself. I don’t want to go back to being that grumpy cynic I once was before I met you. I’m lost without you.”
The full meaning of his words sent a prickling sensation down her spine, but she was also amused.
“Ethan, you’re one of the most famous and respected physicians, you’ve managed perfectly fine without me for 36 years.”
Ethan put down the key and the box from her hand and took both her hands, his gaze intense.
“But it’s taken me 36 years to find out what it means to be genuinely happy.”
Those last words took all her breath right out of her and her heart was ready to explode. His eyes pierced hers as he waited for a response.
He moved closer und squeezed her hands tightly, his eyes still dark.
“So, what do you say?”
She couldn’t resist the temptation to mess with him.
“Let me get this straight: You’re telling me, if I said no, there would be no one to tell you if you’re acting like a goddam diva again?”
A smile tugged at the corner of his mouth realizing what she was getting at. “Probably.”
Grinning she went on. “And who would be there to help you with your social media accounts?”
“Nobody.”
Ethan’s eyes began to light up as she moved onto his lap, mischief in her smile.
“And there would be no one who would dare to tease you?”
“Right.”
Their faces were now only a breath away.
“And nobody there to make you pancakes?”
“Exactly. What would become of me?”
Her mouth moved to the side of his neck. After a line of soft kisses, she started nibbling on his earlobe and whispered. “And no one, who would do this?”
“Oh, I’m sure it’s not hard to find someb…”
She quickly backed away and punched his arm playfully. “Don’t you dare!”
Ethan was now gleaming all over his face. He tucked a finger under her chin and gently nudged her nose with his. “So is that a YES?”
“Do I even have a choice?”
“Not really!”
And then at last his lips found hers, first slowly, barely touching, until they both gave in and melted into each other. All the tension of the day, all the pent-up emotions of the past weeks fell off and there was only him and her. While the kisses grew more and more urgent, his hands started to roam over her body and slowly he unzipped her dress. As his warm hand gently slid down her back, Casey felt his hot breath on her ear.
“If I remember correctly, you promised me dessert.”
“We already had a selection of delicious Italian desserts.”
“But I’m still very hungry. And first of all, this dress has to go. The sight of it has been tormenting me all evening.”
*****
The bedroom was almost dark. Ethan lay on his back, staring at the ceiling. He was unable to put his mind to rest after the events of the day. He turned over to watch the stunning woman sleeping next to him. The moonlight on her face made her even look more beautiful. From now on, he would have the privilege of waking up to this sight every morning. That thought alone made his heart leap.
Gently, he draped the sheets over her shoulder, brushed her hair out of her face and gave her a soft kiss on the cheek; always careful not to wake her.
Smiling down at her he whispered. “I love you, Casey Valentine.”
Never before had these words left his lips. And now didn’t even count either because she couldn’t hear them. He had tried to tell her many times, but the moment never seemed right. Today would have been the perfect occasion, but he had chickened out again.
It was absurd. They had started to plan their future together. Why was it so hard? Three simple words!
Laying back down he whispered, more to himself.
“I’m going to tell you. Soon.
Maybe tomorrow.”

Thank you if you have made it so far.
This piece has really been a challenge, it took me forever. I’ve changed it a couple of times and I am still not quite satisfied, but at some point you just have to let go.

Homecoming - A social call
Chapter 3 - Jeff and Colonel Casey
Continuing with Jeff's recovery and relationships with the main characters in TAG. Sorry this one is a little later out than I planned. A flat move and no internet means I had to wait until I had time to sit in a coffee shop.
Chapters 1 and 2.
Enjoy!
***********
Colonel Casey signed herself into the rehabilitation centre for her first personal visit. She'd seen Jeff for official business, the GDF helping to re-establish the astronaut's living status as well as for the obligatory debriefs. The interviews had happened in one of the rehabilitation rooms here. The debrief of his eight years in space had taken a couple of days to complete as they had been required to work around his routine and energy levels. It had been a shock to see the astronaut so tired and struggling, but it was to be expected. She knew Jeff was on a strict routine and diet plan to help him with his nutritional deficiencies and regain lost muscle, though what it entailed she wasn't privy to. She'd wanted to visit earlier, but her position in the GDF meant she had been tied down with paperwork. Now she could finally sit down with her old friend and catch up properly. Heading down the corridor, she found his room and knocked. A short sharp military rap.
"Come in."
The voice was faint, but oh so familiar. She opened the door and peered in, excitement building inside her chest.
"I thought it was about time I paid the great space survivalist a visit."
A grin spread across Jeff's face as he pushed himself out of his chair. She crossed the room in a few strides and hugged the man. He embraced her back, though she didn't fail to notice how weak his arms were compared to the bear hugs she remembered. Her own arms had been reserved so as not to crush his delicate body. The positive was that he seemed stronger than he was when they'd first met which was pleasing, and she hadn't missed how her friend was much steadier on his feet. The need to pinch herself was still present. Seeing that footage and message had been hard, having already accepted the man's fate and moved on. The world would just have to adjust to having Jeff Tracy back.
"It's been too long." The man whispered in her ear, his deep baritones warming her soul in a way only a long lost friend could.
"It's only been two months."
"That was official business. Your lack of uniform tells me this is the social visit I've been waiting for."
Jeff was right and the smile on his face said he knew it. He'd always been this way, so sure of himself. It was what had gotten him so far, and probably why he was still here now. The confident stubborn man. Memories of days gone by, from when Jeff had first started putting International Rescue into motion, flooded her mind. She'd been present at that first meeting when Jeff had asked for clearance for his new venture. Valerie had been a newly appointed Captain, and it was one of her first major meetings. That was the day she'd heard about International Rescue and it had been incredible to see the legendary astronaut stand up and ask for permission to start the organisation. She'd hid her unease and suspicions and had viewed the plans he'd presented in the meeting. The secrecy aspect of the organisation had worried her most, not knowing exactly what was going to be flying around, not knowing who was involved or the training they would be put through. The committee had debated it thoroughly. Five weeks of research, consultations and consideration and International Rescue was given a three month trial, to be extended upon review.
"You won't regret this."
Jeff had promised Colonel Henson when he had been told the news. She'd been present to see the historic moment. The firm handshake that had happened at the end of the meeting as if to solidify and seal the deal. He'd been right. International Rescue had not disappointed and had gone beyond anyone's expectations. They were granted permission to operate. There were still some in the GDF that disagreed with the amount of secrecy surrounding International Rescue and the lack of regulation and control the GDF had over the organisation. Some of that had eased slightly now the location of Tracy Island was now known to the higher-ups, but there were still those that were suspicious. Rumours still passed around, claiming the GDF had a dummy location, that it was all a ruse to make everyone feel comfortable with the situation and they were keeping the Thunderbirds and their secrets elsewhere. There were just some things she couldn't stop. She had been put in charge of monitoring International Rescue. Once introduced, Jeff had maintained contact with her allowing them to develop a strong working relationship, which ultimately led to a close friendship. Though he had always visited her, she'd gotten to know some of the boys before the accident, though now she knew them all extremely well. The boys had allowed more information about International Rescue to be made public, and shared further information still with the GDF, allowing for better communication between the organisations. It felt much better knowing exactly where they were, even if she had no idea what secrets they hid on the island. Scott had blessed her with a tour, allowing her to see what they were happy to share. Seeing it all in-situ had been a sight to behold and something she'd never forget.
"Sorry it's been that way, but you know how it is at the top. There is always a new situation that needs your urgent attention."
Jeff chuckled, a sound that Valerie had forgotten and almost brought a tear to her eye. It pained her how small things about a person could slip from your mind over the years. The man before her really was legendary. He was an astronaut people would talk about for years to come. He was also a great friend, who had always supported her journey through the GDF ranks.
"I used to know. I'm a little rusty and many things have changed. I've got a lot of catching up to do. I thought some of the technology Brains used to think up was way out there, but some of the new gadgets I'm seeing and hearing about are beyond that. I'm feeling old. Old and left behind."
Valerie noticed the change in his face and the slight dimming of the shine in those blue eyes. Jeff was old, but there was more to this than that. Placing a hand on the man's shoulder she guided him back into his chair and knelt beside him.
"I'm feeling old at the moment." Jeff continued with a sigh. "I'm all creaky, tired and struggling to keep up. They say I should get better, that my body has adjusted to the Oort cloud and that it'll take a while to shift back."
"You were never the most patient man."
That brought a smile to his face, but his head fell into his hand.
"I've spent so much time alone that I can't stand being cooped up in here anymore! The boys and Mum visit but I have less freedom than I did out there. I want to go home. Even if it means subjecting myself to both my mother's constant doctoring, and her terrible cooking."
"Maybe the staff are trying to make sure you're strong enough to stomach your mother's food?"
"Ha! I wish! Nothing on Earth could prepare me for Mum's cooking. I am handling food well though and if I'm honest, Mum won't mess up my diet plan. She knows how much it could set me back."
Valerie moved her hand in slow steady motions over Jeff's back. There was nothing she could do to change the situation, but she knew Jeff needed to let it out. She knew he was putting on a brave face for his family, that only the staff and therapists would know of the real internal struggle happening in the man. Jeff had told her enough about his life and the boys to know he'd do anything to protect his family. Maybe, eventually, he let them be the ones to protect him.
"You'll get there, Jeff. You just need time."
The man sighed, his whole body deflating. He'd had plenty of time in the Oort cloud, far away from everything he cared about. Now he was home, he was still being kept away. She knew the boys were visiting Jeff but it wasn't the same as being home with them. Especially with International Rescue taking them away so frequently. Valerie still got a weekly update on International Rescue’s activity, and although she doesn't read the full reports anymore, she still understood the operation enough to know the toll that it takes on the operatives.
"How has it been, the last eight years, for International Rescue? What's it been like from an outside perspective? Has it worked? Have there been problems? Have you any suggestions?"
Valerie sat back and surveyed her friend. Talk about going straight for the tough topics. She knew he'd ask about her later, but right now his boys were at the front of his mind. She also knew she had to be honest. There was so much Valerie wanted to tell the man, yet today wasn't the right day. Today would just lead the man to worry unnecessarily about his boys. When he was stronger and could enforce change himself, she might raise the latest annual International Rescue report with him. The GDF were concerned, but now was not the time to go down the official route.
"It was tough at first, not everyone liked Scott taking over everything at once, especially as he took on Tracy Industries too. But they rose to the challenge and got the job done, they've made improvements and they communicate more with the GDF now. We still don't know everything about your technology but that was always the arrangement from the get go."
Jeff sighed. "I never expected them to be needed as much as they are. Have you noticed how exhausted they are? Do you know when they last went on holiday? I think it's too much for them."
Valerie steeled herself, knowing exactly how she felt and how much the Tracy brothers would disagree. Everyone knew those boys worked too hard, but they were smart and never broke the flight hour rules, often maxing it out but never going over. The GDF couldn't ground them, even if it was for their own good, especially as there was often no-one else to do the job. Lives were at stake and no-one wanted to be the one to make that call.
"I have noticed the dark circles under Scott's eyes and the way he seems to carry the world on his shoulders. I don't often see the rest of them but the past few years have been pretty intense. I would say they were due a break, if only the world would give them one."
The small smile on Jeff's face showed her she had said the right thing. The concern was still there but the steel in his eyes said he had a plan formulating. She wouldn't pry. Not yet. She was sure she would find out in due course.
"So, you're a Colonel now, and Commander of the GDF. Can't say I didn't see that coming, but there must be a story behind it."
Valerie grinned at her friend, finally on a safer topic. This was what she'd come here for.
"Well, there is, but it's not quite as interesting as yours."

Hide & Seek - Flufftober Drabble
Tumblr media
Book: Open Heart
Characters: Tobias Carrick, Sienna Trinh
Rating: Teen
Summary: Tobias and Sienna meet for lunch after successfully helping Ethan with Casey’s surprise party. But why is Sienna hiding?
Category: Fluff – One Shot - Drabble
Warnings: None
A/N: Reader request for Flufftober Day 10 – Sneaking around – Tobias x Sienna
A/N 2: This little story is sort of part of Their First Two Months, where Ethan enlisted Tobias and Sienna to help him plan a series of surprises for Casey (here), which led to them having to pretend to go on a date (here), then everyone wanted to know more about the "date" (here), which led to Tobias telling Jackie they were engaged (here) before they could set everyone straight. So this is their "celebratory" lunch, and it's kind of a silly little thing, but hey, I hope you like it. :)

The sun was shining brightly over the river, so strong that the quaint pink and white umbrellas that sat above the wrought iron tables at the waterfront café were doing little to provide shade. Tobias kept his sunglasses on, but Sienna had left her behind. Her only defense was squinting her eyes, leaving her looking confused the entire time.
They decided to meet for lunch when they were cleaning up after Casey's surprise party. It was a victory celebration, of sorts. After all, they had successfully helped Ethan pull off several big surprises for his new fiance, and they did it while keeping everything a secret. Better yet, they did it without killing each other, even after they had to pretend they were dating in order to throw off suspicious roommates. All in all, it was a big feat and one of the most surprising outcomes of Ethan's big plans? The unlikely friendship that developed between the two of them.
“I seriously can’t believe we didn’t screw up. I mean, we met Ramsey's expectations. Even now, I can’t believe it. I thought for sure we would have fumbled.”
“Well, I thought for sure that you would have fumbled, but I never had anything but faith in myself. I was born for three things: to be a doctor, to bake the best damn cookies this world has ever seen, and to plan parties. I knew I had it all along!”
“Ah, but Queen of all things Pinterest, you are the one who nearly blew up the whole engagement news ten minutes before Ethan and Casey arrived. How lucky were you that yours truly was there to act quickly?”
“I still can’t believe you told Jackie we were engaged! Did you see the look of horror on her face?”
He laughed, “Well, hearing that Tobias Carrick is engaged would be a horrifying thought to most people. Especially me.”
“Yeah, well, luckily that never made the rumor mill at the hospital.”
“Eh, right now? The Casethan wedding is all anyone gives a damn about. If there has ever been a time to do something wild, this is it. Edenbrook is so busy looking in their direction, they won’t notice anything else.”
“Yeah, but we’re closely associated, to them, so…”
“Good point. So, what do you think? Will we be up for Best Man and Maid of Honor? I mean I am the best man, and Casey couldn’t do any better than you.”
“Aww, that’s sweet! We are both dolphins, so it’s possible she'll ask me.”
Even with his sunglasses on, she could tell his eyes were questioning.
“I’ve explained before, it’s that…”
“Nope, nope… I don’t even want to know.”
“That’s because you’re a shark.”
He took his glasses off and glared at her.
“You know, Shortcake, I’m hurt. After all we’ve been through, I would have hoped that you knew my shark rep is exaggerated.”
“OK, so maybe you’re a baby shark.”
“As long as you don’t sing the song, I’m good with that.”
Sienna laughed, maybe a little bit more than she normally would. And Tobias smiled, definitely more than he normally did. Then Sienna's eyes bugged...
“Oh, no!”
Tobias's head swung in the direction she was staring. “What?”
“No!” She whispered, “Don’t look over there! Look at me until we can sneak out of here.”
“Sienna, what are you doing? It's just Maureen and two of the….oooohhhh… I get it.”
Sienna’s face turned red.
“Get what?” she asked nervously.
“Now it all makes sense. Why every place I mentioned in Boston was met with a “no”. Why you insisted on coming to Cambridge for lunch instead…”
“I don’t know what…”
He fixed his eyes on her, a mocking sneer on his lips, challenging her.
“Dolphins make shitty liars, Shortcake. Why are you hiding?”
Her shoulders fell as she let out an exasperated moan.
“OK, OK. I was afraid. See, no matter how tied up they all are with Casethan, they are always looking for fresh blood. And since we had the whole fake dating thing going on to try to fool people, well, if you and I are seen out alone together, we’re the next big rumor, and …”
“And?”
“And then… “
He crossed his arms and placed his elbows on the table, the smirk on his face becoming more and more prevalent.
“… and then … nothing I guess.”
“Look, if you're embarrassed to be seen in public with me, Trinh...”
“No! That’s not it at all, it’s just.”
“Sienna, if you don't want to be out with me, that's your call. But if you do, then you have every right to be and, the more you sneak around, the more people will think there is something to talk about. You get that, right?”
“I guess…”
“And you can’t stop people from saying what they are going to say, so don’t waste your time worrying about that. Plus, even if they started the craziest rumors, I have no doubt that you could stand up to the nastiest of gossips. You’re tiny, Trinh, but you are fierce.”
“I’m fierce when it comes to standing up for my friends, but not as fierce when it comes to standing up for me." There was a sad tone in her voice. “It has always been that way.”
“Well, then I’m going to have to teach you the way, because, you are my friend now. And no one messes with my friend, but” he took off his sunglasses and placed them on her face. “If you’re really not comfortable, we can disguise you and sneak out the side, if you like. I'll go ask the waiter if there is a way off this patio without having to pass their table."
Watching him talk to the waiter, trying so hard to do this to appease her, Sienna felt guilt taking her over. They were friends, but so what if people thought they had a thing going on? That wouldn't be tragic. It certainly wasn't worth potentially hurting someone who she cared about because some jerks may draw different conclusions. As she watched Tobias, she had enough.
"This is ridiculous," she said bounding from her seat. "T!” She yelled, "Why are you bothering this nice man? We know our way out!”
“But it’s over there and…”
“… and that’s where we’re going,” she smiled. “Oh! But first,” she took off his sunglasses and tried to put them back on him.
Tobias broke out laughing because she couldn't quite reach.
“Does this help Shortstop?” He asked leaning forward.
“I just want to give you my disguise back, I don't need one. But, hey, I thought I was Shortcake?”
“Shortstop? Shortcake? Short stack? I’m trademarking them all."
There was a big grin on his face as he gave her a side hug. They walked confidently past the table where the nurses sat taking in their every move.
“Yeah, well, I’ll come up with a sarcastic nickname for you too. I just can’t do it as quickly."
“I think it's because you’re a dolphin, and dolphins don’t do such things.”
“Precisely! But don’t you worry, clearly this dolphin knows how to swim with the sharks!”
“I told you, you’re fierce!"
He around to take a peek at the cafe, now about a half-block away.
"They're still staring, but I"m not worried. I have $50 that says you can take any of them.”
“You should up that to $100, buddy, make yourself some money.”
“Well, then I just may have to do that! Because next time I treat you to lunch, I know just the place, and it’s not cheap.”
“Really?”
“Really.”

Highlights and insights from the N7 Day cast & crew reunion panel
[Rewatch link]
In case a text format is better for anyone. There are some NSFW references. Cut for length.
(Some paraphrasing.)
“Some of us are inebriated”
“Patrick Weekes, the killer of man and beasts, the breaker of hearts”
JHale put the whole thing together, it’s the biggest ME cast reunion to date
The cast had no idea that the remaster was a thing
Lots of ace discussion about what the magic of the MET is (“it captured lightning in a bottle”)
Lots of warm fuzzies between the cast, crew and community, and lots of fun behind-the-scenes anecdotes
Lots of great discussion on the diversity and inclusion in ME: on gender, sexuality, representation, empowerment, the core message in the MET that “we’re all in this together or we’re screwed”, the progress made in the portrayal of female characters in gaming, etc. “Everything behind what went into these characters was authentic, we [the VAs] could tell that so much research, texture, authenticity etc had gone into them. It really made a difference”. JHale: “I’ve spent my career kicking down ceilings [barriers and so on women actors experience] with my steel-toed boot. To get to be a part of this game that has now created the expectation that there now be a female PC, ‘duh’, is once of the great things of my life. BioWare listened and put her on the box. The first time someone dropped the box in front of me I held it over my head and screamed over the crowd, ‘Casey Hudson, thank youuu!!’ It was a divine moment. This game was the moment the boot finally crashed through the glass, pushed by millions of women.”
The panel received many messages from the question submission from fans expressing that MET really helped them through very dark places and periods in their lives. The cast have had a lot of interactions with fans over the years where the fans expressed similar sentiments to them
ME was one of the first games Keythe Farley (Thane) acted for that had branching dialogue/dialogue choices, and when he saw the script with that when he went in, he was like “wow”. ME was the second big game D. C. Douglas (Legion) ever did. In his first audition he didn’t know it was for a robot-type character as it was disguised as something else with a military-feel. The second time it was to do a speech/lament at someone’s funeral and he knew it was for a robot. He said playing Legion for him was a case of “wake up, drink some coffee and go to work”
Jack was really special to her VA Courtenay Taylor because she relates to her so much and had a lot of similar emotional problems and personal troubles in her past. Jack helped her become who she has became. The host added that in his interactions with Courtenay over the years, he realized very quickly that she is very much like Jack
AWR has two moms, something which she hasn’t talked about/expressly said publicly before. Talking about recording lines between Sam and Femshep made her tear up. She said that being raised by two moms in the 80s was tough due to societal attitudes at the time, and so to see a loving relationship between two women depicted in a game was a big deal for her. When recording the white picket fence conversation, she was actually crying (“and then I’m crying because of the lesbians”). It was a huge moment for her to represent her moms’ journey. When she went home she told them all about how her character is gay and wants a white picket fence and everything “just like we had”.
When PW was working on Sam’s arc, one of the things they did was show it to one of their colleagues, who is a lesbian, asking what things she’d like to see in an arc like that and what things she felt were missing from it. The white picket fence conversation came from the colleague’s feedback (“we wanna see the nice, healthy, happy domestic stuff”, as it’s often missing in portrayals of wlw relationships)
As the VAs got more into their characters, they sometimes had feedback and input to the process to offer, like “I don’t think she’d say [this] like [that]”. Sometimes they knew their characters even better than the crew did sometimes. JHale waxed lyrical about Caroline Livingstone’s awesome direction, with the host adding that he has interviewed a lot of the VAs over the years and they all talk about Caroline like she’s Gandalf the White coming to the rescue in LotR. AWR expressed that Caroline is really funny (“don’t worry it’s not you, PW was sick when they wrote this line that’s why”) and emotionally in-tune with them and this makes long hard sessions with her a joy
When Mark went into record for the Citadel DLC one day he asked Caroline “wouldn’t be great if Shepard’s clone had been made to be the opposite gender? Then the two Shepards could fight each other!”
William Salyers (Mordin) likes the way Mordin’s story ended and felt that it was wonderful to be able to play that. He feels like the luckiest person because as he wasn’t the original VA of Mordin, he got to come in late to something that was amazing. “Caroline helped me get to where I needed to be emotionally to play that final scene. It was one of the most moving things I’ve ever gotten to do personally for a piece of interactive art”. PW related that with Mordin’s writing, they didn’t realize how much they were asking for. They thought William was amazing doing all the science-speak/technobabble, as they themselves didn’t know what it meant, and then suddenly having to deliver emotional heartbreaking lines. William’s always been a secret science nerd and so he loved that fact about Mordin. “It was a real treat to say your words”
Karin: “I always claim credit for the Scientist Salarian song even though I had nothing to do with it. I opened that door for PW”
Steve Blum (Grunt) found it a real treat playing Grunt as Grunt is a tough soldier on the outside but a [babey] on the inside, while he is more the other way around (softer on the outside, fight-y inside). He isn’t a gamer and so didn’t know what to expect or what he was getting into. There was the big pile of words, they showed him the picture of Grunt, and he just ran with it. “Grunt was kind of a perfect character for me in that respect”. Side note: his wry comments throughout the panel were hilarious
“Casey Hudson, our glorious loving overlord”
Courtenay jokes about “interspecies snorkeling”
The women Courtenay met working on this game are her friends for life. Ali Hillis (Liara) gave her her number the night of the ME3 drop and was like “let’s hang out!!” “JHale is the shit. I go to England and there’s AWR and I have this friend for life”.
“We’re a family”. The host comments that you don’t see this kind of closeness between the people on a lot of projects
Kimberley Brooks (Ashley) thinks things have and are changing for the better in terms of roles for women, and roles for brown and black women. This year she has noticed increasing awareness of inclusion and of where it’s lacking. “The copies I’m being sent for auditions, it’s drastically changing, I’m seeing it change before my eyes. It’s really exciting, there’s more and more roles for me.” “Ash is such a strong character and I felt very badass playing her, it was life-changing”. She’s excited that the remaster is going to be a new way to see these characters that they’ve been so lucky to voice. Kimberley/Ash was the first female character Karin saw in the studio, when she saw her she was like “Wow, she’s so kickass and inspiring”. At this point Karin hadn’t been working at BioWare for all that long, and she wanted to thank Kimberley, because she saw her and heard her voice and had a personal ‘this changes everything’ moment
Raphael Sbarge (Kaidan) finds it very moving how many women were encouraged into gaming due to ME
Raphael: “Everyone here has awesome varied careers, but because ME was so collaborative [and so on], [it was something really rare and special]. Nothing else I’ve done has been so important or impassioned, it has almost a religious experience to it, which you can see from tears in fans’ eyes and tattoos and people talking about it 10 years later”. “I’m so grateful for it.” “Clearly we’re going to do this again next year! :D” D. C. added that it’s going to follow him for the rest of his career. Courtenay says it has catapulted her career
PW talked about how it’s great that the female chars in ME were allowed to have real, realistic flaws and dark periods (as opposed to nonsense stuff like ‘her flaw is that she’s clumsy’)
Having the male and female PC be voiced was a big, expensive commitment for the studio. Karin commented that at the time, it was a risk that the pretty-much almost entirely-male leadership of BioWare at the time decided was important to take, and so she was happy that these were the values her colleagues had
PW was “the junior baby writer on ME1. I’d just gotten to the studio and Mac Walters fell down a flight of stairs and hurt his back, and they pulled me in while he was healing”. Karin: “Mac was very understanding when PW fell on the ice and hurt themselves during ME2.” PW: “My job in ME1 was to come up with conversations between followers to pass the time in the elevator loading times. I was throwing stuff at the wall to see what would stick”
Steve turning his volume down before he shouts classic Grunt quotes down the mic
Caroline: “Do you know how many tears were shed in the booth? How many times have we all cried in the booth...” JHale: “We were recording the end of ME3, which I never call the end, because I’m always like I’M HERE! [wink] The goodbye Garrus lines” - these lines got right under her skin and when she went to say her lines she couldn’t speak because she’d burst into tears. “It was all I could do to say those words... and then there was silence... [and Caroline had gotten choked up too].” This was one of the last sessions they did. PW: “John Dombrow wrote Garrus in ME3 and I’m gonna tell him that he got you both to break.”
Caroline was also really teary during Keith David’s (Anderson)’s performance where he tells Shepard she’s like his daughter. This moment was one of JHale’s favorites to act
BioWare came up with a proprietary VA recording system which JHale describes as a secret sauce as-yet not widely-used in the industry
Lots of fun in the line-reading portion at the end. The lines/scenes were sent in by fans. This starts around timestamp 1 hour 50 mins. There’s a break where they discuss more anecdotes after a bit then some line-reading resumes at 1 hour 59 mins 18 secs
"Salarian Vorcha Conrad Verner simmering sexual tension scene”
One of PW’s fondest memories is of ME3 when JHale and Mark got to play off each other (which they naturally didn’t get to do very much), when PW had shoved the entire script of the Blasto movie into random ambience throughout the Citadel. They knew Mark was going to be Blasto as he voiced most of the hanar. PW: “We had to have Blasto’s elcor partner’s hot sister... And I was like could it be JHale?? Because they hardly ever get to talk to each other. It was one of my proudest moments”. Mark: “Not only that, we had a romance.” JHale: “Yeah, it was hot”.
“Think of the poor cold freezing Edmontonian hanar”
PW’s story about Sam’s toothbrush: They wrote it as a throwaway line but AWR did it so well that PW wanted to bring it back in the Citadel DLC, as that DLC was the action-comedy one. So they decided the toothbrush was going to save the Normandy. The art director at the time was in an early playthrough of the scene and in that version of the scene Sam held up her empty hand. The director was like “We gotta make the toothbrush? Really? It’s gonna be thousands of dollars to render the toothbrush.” It then got to the next few lines and the director deadpanned at PW “Okay that’s pretty good, we’ll make the toothbrush.” PW: “Good, I got my toothbrush.”
It was John’s idea that we find out that Mordin had been working on a crime noir novel. There was a period in the development of the Citadel DLC where PW was feeling like “Mordin’s gone, he had his big moment, I want to respect and honor that” and the entire team were like “I think Mordin needs a couple more songs dude”. “Well alright!” By that point William had shown them he could deliver literally any line
“Oh I need a shower that was so steamy hot”
PW got in trouble with Localization over Jack’s “Save some of your energy, we’re gonna do it on the pool table” exchange. Localization were like “Um could you explain what Jack means by this??” These lines were PW’s, Karin as an editor got the question about it and passed it on to PW like “nope this is your fault”. “The best part is it was France that needed PW to explain the joke while apparently Germany were like ‘Yes please confirm that this is regarding the possibility of oral sex-’”
Keythe on voicing Thane: “Thane was a real lesson in opening up to the character, allowing this beautifully conflicted character to exist. Each character in the MET has conflicts within themselves and a tragic flaw that is revealed through the course of conflict.” He also waxed lyrical about how the MET was akin to Star Wars and Citizen Kane, and about the interconnectedness and representation in it
D. C.: “I have a question for you guys. Was it a conscious decision to not have Legion as a romance? Because there are a lot of upset people out there!!” “Voltage problems.” “A lot of creative reuses of ‘There was a hole.’” PW: “It was a process of us figuring out what we wanted to do. If we had known... The number of people who were like ‘I don’t know, are people gonna wanna romance Garrus? Liara? She’s blue and has no hair. Are people gonna be okay with that?” Karin: “We were young and naïve, now we know BioWare fans are thirsty.”
Derek brought in the first picture of Thane to show Caroline and she was like “He’s really hot, that’s gonna be a killer character. People are gonna want to romance that gentleman”
Raphael asked the BioWare team if there’s ever been a point where they thought about doing more DLC content or some kind of revival. “Has that ever come up?” “We’re legally obligated not to say, sorry, we’re going through a tunnel right now, bad reception!!”
D. C.: “Does this country have a soul?” “It does.”
“An N7 Day to remember! Go forth and heal.”
